"And we were wrong there. I mean they completely changed their game. Plan and threw a curveball buffalo. That brian day did not adjust and it basically involves the area of buffalo's team that we were concerned about that wasn't improved this off season. Which is the line. But pittsburgh only sent blitz twelve percent of dropbox last week. Last season the week fourteen matchup pittsburgh sent blitz fifty seven percent of dropbox so pittsburgh basically only rushed with their front and job guys into coverage. And that's how they they elected defend buffalo's passing of that you know you can play that style when cameron heyward goes out and gets twelve pressures in. Tj watt gets another seven and both those guys you look at the end of the week finished top nine in pass rusher in weight. You add five. More pressures for melvin gordon. Those three guys basically had their buffalo's front all day long and that's why they want but it's important to kind of mention that because miami does not really shown ability to get natural pressure with with their front for you. You just look at what. Brian floors is done through his entire tenure in miami. It's been all manufactured pressure and one of their best defensive. Lineman ray davis is out for a couple of weeks. So flora's can't actually mimic what pittsburgh pulled off last week if they tried the other thing that we've seen from miami because they manufacture pressure. And because they spend gobs of money at corner they live in cover one. They live in cover to man. It makes sense right. It's the highest paid secondary in the nfl by fifteen percent. The problem is buffalo has shredded flora's as cover one and cover two men four straight games. You mentioned some of those numbers right. Buffalo's one and i want to kind of put this in context of just flora's buffalo's one four meetings by an average of fifteen with flora's going against buffalo. The total has gone over in those four games by average of twenty point. one points. Because that's not how you defend buffalo in the receivers so that's going to be interesting and last week new england. I thought made a real crucial mistake. They should have beat the dolphins. Not just because of the fumble late but josh mcdaniels didn't really adapt in game. Patriots went out. Spent a ton on john. Smith hunter henry so they used a bunch of twelve formation fifty percent of snaps last week from twelve but when new england actually spread things out and went with three wide receiver sets mack. Jones lit up the dolphins eighteen for twenty one nine point three attempt sixty seven percent passing success rate. Buffalo's not gonna make that mistake. They live and eleven personnel with three whites and that is the reason they have been able to shred the dolphins. And i'm not quite sure. The dolphins have the personnel to mimic a style that pittsburgh implemented last week. You know it's interesting when you talk about josh allen and some of those numbers and obviously it's more important to put in context with those four meetings against floors. I found it fascinating from an individual accolades standpoint. Josh allen is one. Afc player of the week six times in his career pain. Three of those times have come when he's facing the dolphins defense. So this is a quarterback who's going to be brimming with confidence and has every reason to believe so you would expect buffalo like you said given the scheme at dell encounter to be a little bit more dynamic. I mean stefan digs and cool beasley. Were able to eat. Catching seventeen passes on twenty-six targets. But they never had the explosive big play. Potential there with those near misses. That josh allen had to deal with on the other side of the ball. You've talked a little bit about the dolphins game against the patriots. Miami essentially in my opinion put together two drives one the first drive of the game and then one coming out of half other than that. They were pretty average at best. You look at two. Nothing's going to blow you away from a statistical profile that he put forth. I what. I found fascinating were brian. Floors is comments about the offensive line. Configuration we talked about austin jackson being upgraded thinking that he was gonna play a role then flora's starts liam aiken berg and pretty much says. Hey look we're gonna play the best five guys whether it's a shot fired off the bauer an inspirational tactic. Let's see how miami figures that o. Line this week against the buffalo defense. That's gonna get pressure onto it so it was a really tough game to gauge. I went back watched. It saw some of it live. I thought all things considered miami's offense did okay. It's it's to his first road star with fans in the stands. Austin jackson who you mentioned at left tackle did not play an offensive snap. My understanding is and we all thought right. We did shows last week. Saying austin jackson's out with the big c adam. Schefter reported it. And then all of a sudden saturday he gets upgraded but because he missed the entire week of practice floors is game. Plan didn't really include him at that point and so he played three special team snaps and he came out this week and was adamant that austin jackson is the left tackle liam eichenberger shifted from right tackle to left. Tackle effectively downgrading to positions will fuller did not play with his one game suspension. We've seen the impact. That will fuller. Had on quarterbacks better quarterbacks than to i mean deshaun watson splits with willfuller versus without our staggering. You say all those things and you're facing a new england patriots defense that we think is going to go back to being one of the top ten in the nfl. Miami's fourteenth most efficient offense in week. One not terrible. I think there's some meat left on the bone. Obviously to miss amisi throws completion percentage was three and a half percent below expectation through terrible pack and a crucial stage of the game. When the pressure was on. I thought he handled pressure terribly. Twelve and a half passer rating on his seven pressure drawbacks. When to was throwing with play action he struggled his intermediate passing left a lot to be desired on throws in the ten to nineteen yard window. One for nine with a pick and zero passer rating. Now waddell and parker did drop to balls in that window. So factor that in a little bit there was also a level of predictability with miami's offense and that's one thing that does make me a little concerned is great as brian floors as ben changing the culture and bringing new guys in it's been a revolving door at o. c. You know first comes in. He brings over new england wide receiver coach and the scheme is too complex for the young guys. Then he goes to ninety eight year. Old chan gailey who devised this system for ryan fitzpatrick and not to a and just terrible and now you have a dual coordinator situation in. No one knows where they stand..

You know twenty years on because he was the favourite of the party base. They do listen. He he was was not an is not happy. He says that that schwarzenegger's Time in office look just like the democrats would. He said that he he he. He governed just like ray davis covered and that he pretended like it was not Like he was not a republican. He also at the same time. Told me that schwarzenegger stole his playbook. And how to run. And the recall. To which i asked schwarzenegger about that and he. He has some colorful responses. Which give us jesus which with the new say give us give us one little tease. I will use one i will. I will use one word he used and that is hack. Oh oh man this episode like five or six. And i can't wait to see the download the podcast you'll get it off. Oh yes. I encourage people to do this because this is i listened to as i said the first one of the first one is available for listening. And it's very good and it's anyone who's falls california politics or if you're just a political fan. It is really fun but schwarzenegger ultimately is you say. He left office with the same approval. Rating is gray. Davis twenty two percent despite the things that the major things he accomplished. What this does he have I'll know the answer this. But i've got to ask it. Does he have any regrets does he. You know he ran up a huge death himself an office does he look back. And disea- do look into his enter arnold and have any regrets. He had a A list when. I talked to him of of the accomplishments written down on a piece of paper and at the end he said to me that I can't remember who told him somebody who was his friend. Who was a governor before maybe it was bush. I don't remember exactly i have to. I have to think about it but a former governor told him that if you leave office with fifty percent of the things you wanted to do done. That's a huge accomplishment. And he says that he did that But he knows how but like you said he. He he lived it. He knew how hard it was and it was a lot harder than probably he even thought it would be or. Let's let's get into the fun stuff now. Because i i got as i said listening to that first episode babies a little wistful for two thousand three. Because then i don't know how how close he been paying attention to this Recall but it's it's certainly not as fun as now not even close not even close we other we have john cox has been with the bear with the bear. The ball of garbage. But that's that's been it. We don't have the unholy trio of gary larry and mary i. Now coleman larry flint. Mary carey we. Don't have the ferret guy. Live with the doe boys or anything in the near future with all this new technology. I would say the best place to start as far as fighting music as my website. Dot com all. They're all the albums all the videos. So that's a one shop for all their unfortunately have gone their separate ways live shows without ban on this because i have two beautiful vintage. Trump says his packed away. My closet here. I hope he'll have some reason to break him out again. So as far as live shows for. I shall thing really planned on. Okay you know. Things have been such disarray. Because of the pandemic we'll see we'll see but maybe we'll do a virtual show from the bed the bedroom. That would be awesome. Nate how can people find the podcast and follow each episodes. And you're unbelievable series that you're dropping. Its let it roll. Podcast dot com the website. And it's on apple stitcher spotify amazon. Podcast i haven't been keeping up on soundcloud but all the other places you get your podcast. Hopefully pantheon getting it out there and so the let it roll podcast just google it and you should be able to turn up the latest episode tax. Well is there anything else guys. Wanna drop on ray davies or richard your stuff before we sign off and call this one a rap. Oh gosh so much under so trust with nate's open-mindedness to all. These are really really impressed by that because we try to expand or or musical and put it here. We've been way before the pandemic we were. Radio is a lincoln saturday because we live here in new york. We were really getting into beethoven. Because i i heard about the guy. Very supposed to be bowled over and all that. But you know when we heard beethoven's first symphony we were just so we hear all the simpsons lives so we met player that every time. The filler mind was doing a beethoven symphony. We were there and all the other grace. Like mozart drama. We got into that. When i started out as a jazz drummer still very heavily influenced by that and so yeah. So yeah when they were talking about you know do show opera scrape because people need to expand their musical horizons. Exactly i i remember listening to opera with my grandfather. And that's kind of what. What i think of when i think of operas grandfather was doing and i listened to some of it out of nostalgia for for that time period but i'm kind of inspired now to open up to other genres. I've been lucky doing this. Podcast i've been exposed to a lot of genres and bandit i wouldn't have otherwise people reaching out and wanting to just talk about the music and in fact i would highly recommend anybody listening to this to go back and listen to richard's episode that we did about a year or so ago and richard. You go into your incredible musical career and who you've worked with you like you said link. Wray brian wilson All kinds of people you know obviously the doboy. So you've got an incredible rich musical history yourself and i would really encourage. Everybody listened to that episode. And listen to your catalog pickup richards albums. Because they're they're very uplifting very positive in a world where things go negative so quickly. It's awesome to hear somebody who's positive absolutely. Well thank you so much. I know it's getting late. I don't wanna keep everybody up on eight. We like you said we could talk about ray davies. We spend all night doing it. But can i tell one last. Ray davis store and saloon absolutely and this is one. I read a long time ago to fanzine but it may or may not be true. But they were touring america and sixty five i tour they played a show in illinois. Think chicago and the promoter took them back to their house. And dave was by and very long hair and everything and sixty five dot meant. That was very charge sexually and the promoters really into dave. But he's given dave the but would always can egg dave on in these things and he almost ditch dave and left him there at the promoters house because dave was massively fucked up of course and.

"There's a whole album of deep cuts called the great lost kinks album where village green was supposed to be a double album array davis solo album and it was cut down to a single because they were absolutely their commercial bottom at that point they could not by a hit in the states or in the uk and so it was cut down to just one album and when they came back after lola and victoria pipe. Put out an album. That all for a little while but you can get it easily now. Called the great lost kinks album and it is just full of really strange songs. That don't quite fit with the kinks. That you could see as davis so allie solo songs. Like there's one when i turn off the living room light. That is about an old dude and his ugly wife imagining that she's beautiful and it's just such such a beautiful song so i would have to go with the whole album with the great lost kinks album. It'd be my secret track. I will accept that. So with this with all this being said i kind of went into this whole thing thinking you know maybe maybe raise under under appreciated undervalued. And i'm kinda wondering about that because when you look at all the songs you see songs. You've i've known my whole life. Maybe not always realized they were kinks songs. But do you think. He's kind of underappreciated. Remind maybe just unfamiliar with the with the discography. And in thinking that maybe. He's a little under appreciated. People in the know obviously appreciate owned matt musicians. Who really care about sean craft and that level you know really strong songwriting. But you're right. I mean there's the story was you know. Because they got banned from america in the mid sixties and didn't get to for like all the other british fans they lost some traction. That's part of the mythology of why they're not in the same a stratosphere as when people talk about these kind of arena back like led zeppelin and mccartney These stones you know they can all still to this day sell out. Arenas for the king's son could happen down a few notches. I don't know why they were a show group. Play like the who are led zeppelin. They had a great live band but they were an exciting exhilarating shopping usual band way. When the first time. I saw the who who who is just such a visual months flood along with the salad. Pink floyd bands like that. Yeah you know just. We're a good solid rock band. Had this junior songwriter and great lead guitar player and co writer. Sometimes with dave again. What do i think that he's underrated. Maybe public i think the thing is that the kinks are so great and their competition. Is you know the beatles the who stone so and led zeppelin like you mentioned like the very biggest bands of their era the greatest bands of their era. And even though they're probably my personal favorite out. I mean i've had years of being obsessed with the stands and the beatles but the kings have a very special place in my heart but if you really study their career you can see why didn't get as big like andrew golden the first manager. The stones once said banquet five ten years ago. That gray band has a great manager and they did not have a great manager and he called out their management team by name and they they had terrible management. The kind of manager. Ray davis by nineteen sixty five is already in court suing his management team to get his publishing rights back. And and all this kind of stuff so they they did not have a brian epstein or an andrew golden who could really put him over the top and shepherd him a like richard said they were not as visually compelling as the stones or the who and they also are arrangements. If you listen to their albums their albums stack up with anybody from the era but if you listen to their singles as part of like a singles compilation from that era they would repeat the same arrangement so like you really got me is followed by all day and all of the night and then there's i want you which is a third version which was a b side. But they do the same thing with the piano descent on sunny afternoon then us basically the same intro intro for waterloo sunset so you can see even though the songs were absolutely as great as anything anybody else's putting up their the beatles had this unfair advantage would come in with a great song and mccartney and harrison to dive in with these arrangement ideas and vice versa. When mccartney came in with a great song with ray he was kind of on his own. Even dave was a powerful force in contributed. Dave was also seventeen when they got famous. And can i use curse words so you know when i first read about they kinks after a couple of years of getting into their mid period stuff and they were said this gentle bucolic sound and everything then you read about them and then these absolute animals. The the the quarterback davis is that you know he fuck anything that moves man or woman.

"You know that you can see that. That they set up, but if a well modulated voice as as woody, Allen sets We in that the sketch about God. A is it. Is it Kusak? Ross Abraham Abraham. God forbid. and. "It's just different now. Because because then you didn't know until it happened. Now, we've got all the buildup because we know that they're looking like everybody now knows that these guys are looking it's a little bit different. Now that's sitting out sitting out that year used to have to go to one AA and you play right away. If you want to sit out you go. Yeah. One a now the one AA options they're trying to get technicalities getting ways to get in their shape. Patterson did last year with the bowl situation. And obviously now you're gonna say you see Justin feels be eligible right away. Where other quarterbacks may have to sit out talking about Tate Martell. He goes one. He's gonna sit out a you. Yeah. Okay. So I think with fields he will play right away. It looks like obviously, you think about Ohio. State there. Then sat out now he's going to be starting quarterback at Washington Kelly. Bryant impacted I think Alberto Alberto, the tight end who agree wanted. Okay. Could've come into the NFL draft. Probably been a second round pick. He's going back to Missouri. Why because drew lock is moving onto the NFL draft. But hey, you know, Kelly, Brian it's coming in. So for Albert, oh, and that talented, Missouri. Maybe they feel like that's a reason to stay one more. Alabama was fortunate to Dari Nick Sabin got to be pretty happy with the nucleus of talent that decided to return with MAC Wilson. The Thompson Wilson linebacker Thompson safety record rake want Davis disappointing year, smart, go back. You might have been a third or fourth round pick. Even though he was projected to be a one going in so Alabama could've lost more players than they did fortunate to get some of those guys on the defensive side of the ball back. Davis. Ray Davis mill Dorian male ESPN radio is a physical freak by the way. Holy has six seven three hundred pounds chiseled as heck it's all good for saving except for the fact that three. Three of his top offensive minds. Maybe his three top coaches are all gone again. Iino was as quarterback coach he's now Miami's offensive coordinator. Mike Loxley was his co offensive coordinator. He's now the Maryland head coach Josh Gaddis was his cO offense coordinator and receivers coach is now Jim Hormuz offense coordinator at Michigan. So there's impact there. I want to say one of the things to how to coordinators over. You aren't kidding, man? But they've never lost three and one staff like this on one side of the ball went out over coaching though. Well, that's true. You mentioned the town over the coach Kelly, Brian, Missouri. Missouri is taken big time advantage of the transfers because Kelly Bryant is their guy this year, Shaun Robinson who has a very highly touted quarterback that went to TCU transferred, also to Missouri. He'll have to city here. But it works out. Great for Barry Odem accompany because you've got Bryant this year. And then you're gonna have Robinson next year in terms of playing right away, by the way, Austin kindle has graduated from you he'll be able to go and play right away and have two years left. So there's going to be intrigue there as well. Well, it's just it's kind of a fun thing in college football. But here's what I the Martell things. What bothers me because if you don't like competition, you're playing the wrong position because you're playing the one position where there can only be one of you already had it with Haskins. Now, you're gonna have a guy coming in who is the number one player in the country who's going to be the guy. He's a similar style quarterback. Only a lot fetter. Okay. I just think reality set in. And he knew what he would be again a backup. And I know problem with would take Martell did no problem at all they're enough. But don't talk the talk. If you can't walk the walk. I mean that's did. He did. And it didn't work. All right. He walked all right. He talked to any walked Jeff Saturday night special. Joining us or NFL analyst. Jeff, let's dive right into the first of the four games this weekend. Your Indianapolis Colts visiting Kansas City much is made of the playoff debut for Patrick Mahomes of the fact that Andy Reid has not been a big time postseason. And it's that freshman you talked about Josh Joe beaten in the coverage dope. Just six one. Ross is every bit of six four. They throw a fifty fifty ball and won a playoff losses had four catches one hundred thirty five and a touchdown tonight. It was the Shawn Watson throwing for over four hundred yards right now. And the clock running down to three minutes to go through receivers side lined up one behind the other to stack a short set by Lawrence. He throws the right pop behind the line of scrimmage, the balls out. After a move by Ross he might have been down to the thirty eight Alabama has recovered it. We're going to call it a fumble. "That Alabama defense and get them out of the box. If this games played in the box, Alabama zagging if this game is played on a stretched outfield Clemson has a chance to win that game. One of the points. We made Alabama maybe a weakness for them. They've given up a lot of big plays yards. Plays over twenty yards more. They were middle of the country on the defensive side. So I think you're right. If Trevor Lawrence can if they can protect him and give them a chance to throw it down the field. He has shown especially against Notre Dame. He can put the ball right on the money. And he reads quickly reads the field quickly. He's down to his third progression in two seconds. You know what? I mean. He's not standing back. There surveying the field. He sees it. And he goes and is instinctive and to is to like that to a maybe even quicker instinctively like that like the balls out. That's what's so beautiful about to. I love that. But yeah, I think Trevor is pretty good. But again ninety two Quin and Williams. I I just think that's the whole the difference maker. Our prediction time before we let you go Holly. Rowe the prediction for the Monday night game. And I know. To Nick, our producer hates prediction. She just want to see it play out. If you've got somebody who's got an edge in the game who you're looking at. I I'm not just saying this. I honestly have no idea because I think this is evenly matched as Alabama and Clemson have ever been. This is the best Clemson team. We have seen in this national championship game. So they should and could win Alabama has a lot to say about that. And I think Alabama's better upfront defensively than anyone, you know, like we used to rave about the Alabama defensive front. And why are we not talking about them more? They still Ray Davis. Nobody's even talking about. And he's still a game record too. So I don't now. I don't know we were talking about it. Oftentimes, you matchups a great defense a great against a great offense. And these are two outstanding offenses against two outstanding defense both units tops in the country in most of the. Statistical categories, I think it's going to be a tremendous match up and has a chance to be an all time. Yup. Strength against strength. And the one thing we haven't talked about is. I do think special teams may be Clemson has a little bit of an edge there kickers more experienced punters more experienced Alabama's young in that area. So who knows that could be like if that's the sliver of difference in these teams. Maybe that's it could be it's minimize the mistakes. I don't think we'd be surprised either way Hollywood. We appreciate the time. And now, we're gonna congratulate you, by the way athletic named you the media person of the year, we were pretty excited to see that. We're big athletic. They are rushing it.
