"Me that once you get possession and then you get a first down, if you want to get some tempo going on offense to help you, I'm good with that. I just don't see how the Tampa Bay can live in a no huddle past every play situation with the state of their offensive line right now. We'll see what they figure out. In spite of it all, all they need to do is win next week against Carolina and they clinch their division. Let's go now to Minnesota, where Justin Jefferson had a 133 yards and a touchdown Saturday, but Mina, it was someone else on that Minnesota Vikings offense that impressed you. Who was it? You know, I loved Vikings trade for tight end TJ hawkinson and you really seen the value as these weeks have gone by. So useful on the short intermediate stuff, but it was a two touchdowns that jumped out to me. First one was a little boot action, throwback, tension paid to Jefferson as usual, miscommunication, hawkinson wide open. The second one, hawkinson runs the slot fade. This time he's double covered, but it doesn't matter because of his incredible athleticism and contested catch ability you saw there. I believe the Vikings had the best wide receiver in the NFL. I also believe they have one of the best 5 best tight ends and that is a very terrifying proposition for defenses come play off time. Massive trade deadline acquisition there of TJ hawkinson in Minnesota on the losing side of that game Saturday where the New York Giants, but giants fans shouldn't worry their playoff chances are still very high. 94% chance to make the playoffs, they can clinch a spot against the colt Sunday and week 17 if they win, if not, we'll have to do it the hard way. We'll have to beat the eagles in week 18 Marcus. What did you like about the Giants this week? I love Daniel Jones, man. Love this poise and obviously he gave one away, but you look at him off script plays, you look at him making decisive decisions. These are some of the things we talked about with Daniel Jones, just taking too long to become the athlete that he is. And then it turned into him having opportunities to push the ball down the field. He played with rhythm. He played with timing. He orchestrated a drive to get the game back even, and I think that's a building block for Daniel Jones as the New York Giants go forward. Brian davo has done a phenomenal job, but I wanted to show DJ some love 'cause he played well against the Minnesota bike. Daniel Jones in a contract year. We'll see how it works out for him and the Giants. When we come back, do not R ELA X because if you do the packers might just remind you, they're still in the playoff hunt. Early game on Christmas Day saw Aaron Rodgers in the packers visiting tua tungo by Lola and the dolphins. Under ten minutes to go in the first game tied at three dolphins with the first and ten from their own 16 tua finds Jalen waddle and he's just not going to stop until he gets to the end zone. That's an 84 yard touchdown pass for a ten three Miami lead. Packers next drive, they are facing a third and 8 from the dolphins 15 and Rogers. Gonna take it himself. Flushed out of the pocket, scrambles, gets the first down using his legs to keep the drive alive and then later in that possession, it is fourth and goal, packers are going for it, play action, roger. To Mercedes Lewis, wide open in the end zone for the touchdown game tied at ten fourth quarter now. Tied at 20 dolphins with a first and ten at their own 20. Tua overthrows tyreek hill and jair Alexander makes the interception. Hackers would kick a field goal and lead 23 to 20 after another packer field goal. It was 26 to 20 dolphins still have a shot here a second and 7. Two is going to drop back, but he's going to get picked off again. This time bought rasul Douglas. Tua would be intercepted three times in this game all in the fourth quarter, Green Bay wins 26 to 20. It was not the fourth quarter that tua had in mind. He threw three interceptions in a row. That is a stark contrast to what he's been doing down the stretch this season to a now joins Jameis Winston as the only quarterbacks this year with three picks in the fourth quarter of a game. It's also the first time he's done it on three straight drives. So something is certainly up or was yesterday with two a dolphins have now lost four games in a row, Dan orlowski, what has changed for tua since his strong start? Defenders are no longer consistently being attached to what his eyes are doing. This happens for young quarterbacks in the league and it absolutely happens to young guys in this offense. So when defenders stop kind of following what your eyes are telling them to do and the challenge is this, the Green Bay defense did it early on. They listened, they went where he wanted. And then they stopped. So the first three quarters, they're going exactly where he's looking, and then in the fourth quarter, they stopped doing that. And that's difficult to transition as that young player going, but wait, the last time I did that with my eyes, you went exactly where I wanted you to. And so the challenge right now is because it's a slippery slope is, you know, how does to a get back to one reading the defense and not just assuming that if I look here, guys, you're going to move. So read it and then confirm that those guys actually did move. And so you want them to be aggressive and it's a fine line. And the last thing I'd say about this one Marcus is for me is I've watched this for a month now and the player's gone from up and down for tua is when you start to feel. It Mike mcdaniel, their play caller. And I think the world of them when you start to maybe feel some challenge, some difficulty, some frustration. How do you get them back on track? A little bit screen game little run game. There's something like that to make him not so big play oriented in his mind. All I could think in MK, all I could think was out of structure, right? Like playing that position, man. And listening to you and us

"I don't know. Don't ask me. Yeah. Gary, you're supposed to have answers for Kevin's mansky. It was, it was, boy, it's just been such a long year for baker, who, you know, obviously, you have all these questions about, will they commit to them? You say at this point, probably not. I mean, the season's not over. And look, the browns still are at a point where if it goes chalk in week, what do we have coming out week 17? If it goes chalk and the browns beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh, they will play the Bengals for the AFC north title in week 18. In their own building, that's a Bengals team that will beat on the road. So it's not over for them. And again, it just in a 5 day span you have to play your third quarterback and you end up losing on a last second field goal to the Raiders and then you go into Lambo and you play well enough to win, it's just like and if you're gonna tally up the four interceptions, it's funny. Baker was not completely at fault. He threw one really bad ball that was picked off. Other than that, you had probably probably a penalty on the last play. It should have been on rasul Douglas. But you also had to an early in the game where school Douglas essentially tackle the guy disrupting a route. And that turned into an interception. And then the other one was Jarvis Landry falling down. However, Baker Mayfield just played really poorly. Like he's throws in between those interceptions. We're just not good enough for the most part. And I don't know. It's really tough to trust him. And he almost feel like it's trending that direction. Where it's going to be like Matt nagging with Mitchell trubisky a couple years ago where it's like, boy, we can't ask him to throw the ball further than 5 yards up the field. It's just gonna be a lot of screens. A lot of quick in breaking stuff and let's survive this. And then just let the run game do the rest of it. Do you want to hear my outrageously like there's a lot of layers to my baker take, but do you want to do I don't want to devote too much time on the podcast? And you can just say no and we can move on to. I'm totally okay with that. I would I agree. I would like to hear this. Okay, well first off, I think if you take his numbers, so I did his numbers for the first 46 games of his career. That was the cutoff was the Houston game week two when he injured his shoulder. And he has basically on PAR-2 or in slightly in some ways better like beginning career than Russell Wilson, statistically. He's not bad. And I think what's weird is, everybody is like just assuming that this is going to be the steady Ascension from a guy who was completely thrown into the swamp since the second he got here, right? You'd Hugh Jackson, you had Freddy kitchens, you had the organization was incompetent and bungling up until the moment that Kevin Stefanski got there, right? And so he had the one good season with Kevin Stefanski and I just think we all have this idea of who we think Baker Mayfield is because he came from the Lincoln Riley system. He's confident and assertive..

"Up last week and that their number one corners down. So they're going to rely on this guy, I think his name is Dane Jackson. He's been targeted 5 times. You're going to need that guy to step up. But more importantly, offensively, I think with the offensive line issues and with the running back issues, I mean, when you go to down to Jackson when you go 9 for 22, Singletary moss, like you have a problem. And that problem's not going away. You know what I mean? And so I just, it's a chalky answer, but if they're running games not right and people make Josh Allen, matriculate the ball down the field. It's been kind of a cliche that you can play too high against Patrick Mahomes, you play too high against Shawshank. That's what they did in Jacksonville not like 9 to 6 ball game. But like it's true, these two guys are aggressive and I mean like part of the deal is that if you play Josh Allen and you force a turnover, the bills are 500. Like they're 500. So if you force him to be patient and to not and to beat himself, he's probably eventually going to do it. So those two things is the impatience that's created by the fact that people can sit back there, keep things in front of them. You want to play zone against these guys. You don't want to play man. And by the way, the Patriots are playing a lot more zone this year. So this match up for them is monumental. It's not just monumental in the standings. It's also monumental in the macro from the macro perspective because if you're a bills fan, you're like holy shit, ding dong, the witch is dead like it's over there in New England. Yay. And then I know, right? And then you do all these great things up front to accentuate or create a skill where there was a weakness and you're trying to beat the chiefs and then it seems like the target moves. And now the team you got to beat is New England again. So I don't know what to make of this team. I'll never count them out because they can get hot. They got Josh Allen. But he's turned the ball over more. And they can't run the football. NFC, who's better green Bayer, Arizona. I know Green Bay won the head to head. I admit watching that game I left it feeling like Arizona was better than them and should have won that game. Green Bay is gonna win the Super Bowl. I mean, I'm not just like I've said this for a few weeks now, so it's not like I'm just reacting to a rams when I'm not listening to rams. I told a kid in a Green Bay beanie Saturday night I was like, your team's gonna win the Super Bowl and then I bet the ram Sunday. So like go fucking figure, but I don't think the rams are that good. It's not why I'm saying this. I'm saying this because I like their defense. I'm saying this because the thing that kept me from respecting that team is a contender, the past two years, I mean, when you've got a jugs machine that runs 17 mph, you've got one of the best multi purpose vaccinate. You have the best receiver in the league. Your offensive line, you've figured out a way to get that third string guy to block Leonard Floyd and you've weathered the storm with some of the injuries. The concerns I've always had have been on defense. And their physicality, their attitude, the last two years, if you came with an attitude, you could kick their ass offensively. And one of my favorite players in league is that Darius Smith. They're going to get him back, they're going to get a few guys back, gyres coming back. He's a StuG. Kenny Clark is has always been a bona FIDE dog. But I wanted to see if dudes around him would step up and be physical and the new coordinators done a good job of setting that tone. There were two games for me. One of them you mentioned, the Cardinals game they stepped up defensively. And then playing Seattle. Where they had to keep the points down. They did that. And they were wounded and they got through that. A year to go, they wouldn't have gotten through that. And I think they're more physical now where Sean Gary's coming making some plays. He stepped up big. And rasul Douglas who I played with in Philly, they basically were like, we got nothing for you. He's been on 16s. He's been one of their best playmakers in the guy, like every time I bet against the packers, he burns me. He used to take my money playing pool in Philly and now he takes my money as a retired player. Okay, that's bold. Can you I had no idea Aaron Donald was such a macgruber fan. Can I say this though before we get to the throat rip thing? I don't want to because I know Cardinals fans are sitting here like, listen, the number one reason I said that so effortlessly is because Kyler Murray as electric as he is and I said this early this year, this guy if he figures a couple things out could have a lot more like run of dominance where you're like, this is his league. But a couple weeks ago, he runs out at the sticks and turns his ankle or whatever it was and I remember thinking, damn, every little limp you see with him, you have to worry that it turns into a couple week thing. And that's not his fault. It's just the way it is in last year against Seattle he dinged his shoulder and the rest of the year they couldn't use them running the football as much and they kind of cratered. And I worry about what it looks like when they come back. Now kudos to Clifford not rushing him back, but the variability of this team because of that one position is so big to.

"So they don't leave their secondary exposed, and it was a good sign that you can get pressure that way, but also Denzel ward returned to practice on Wednesday. The top cover for Cleveland. So let's keep our eye on that. Let's see if he progresses to more of a full capacity today at practice versus the limited yesterday. It'd be huge having your top cover corner back when you're going up against a trio of chase Boyd and Higgins. Newsom is starting to round into form a little bit more. I think the secondary does have some room to grow, they're integrating just a ton of new parts. You throw a rookie in there and newsome and then you have a holdover and Denzel ward and then you add two guys and free agency with Johnson and Troy hill. You're kind of figuring out the chemistry there. Greedy Williams has been fantastic when he's filled in for the injured corners, right? We've seen Newsom and some games, obviously Denzel's mission games and greedy Williams has been fantastic. So you do on paper, have three really talented corners. You spent a bunch again on hill and Johnson. Eventually, I think the secondary will start to marry each other with all these new parts and you'll see some improvement from the back half. You know, it's so interesting because coming into the year you looked at the Cleveland Browns, we knew what their suggested that this was a team poised to regress. Obviously, they'd bolstered a lot of positions of weakness coming into or coming out of last off season into this year and you figured, okay, this team is going to build on some of the success they experienced in Kevin Stefanski's first season. Obviously, injury luck is precluded that from happening and there doesn't appear to be an easy out anywhere in this division. This is a massive game, not only for the Cleveland Browns to get a game above 500, but also for the Cincinnati Bengals to show that they can bounce back in the face of adversity should be a great watch on Sunday afternoon. A game pain that we thought was going to be one of the highlights of the week 9 slate. Loses a little bit of its luster as stars will be sidelined. And that of course is the contest at arrowhead between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers. What you're looking at the chiefs, they touch down favorite at FanDuel sports book, total in this game, 48. This game had Green Bay listed as a one point favorite before Aaron Rodgers has ruled out the total was in the mid 50s as well. So you've seen plenty of adjustments there. Jordan love makes his first NFL start. We did see glimpses of him in garbage time earlier this year against the New Orleans Saints. The chiefs clearly a team that needs to play a little bit more discipline. Took 12 penalties in the win over the Giants. They were able to overcome all of that. Chiefs defense, they get some reinforcements along the defensive line, Melvin Ingram acquired for a relatively cheap draft pick. You have to imagine that'll be something that can work in their favor, knowing that guys like Frank Clark and Chris Jones can assume their normal pass rushing responsibilities. And when you look at these teams, hey, turnover differential oftentimes tells a story. Green Bay. Plus 8 in that department, Kansas City -11. Pain, I'm not sure that we can sit here and try and unpack with this Green Bay offense is going to look like what Jordan love. So does the Green Bay defense in your estimation have the pieces or at least the ability to potentially slow down what Kansas City wants to do against them? It's tough to project when and if the chiefs snap out of the two game funk offensively or if the giveaways are finally going to regress, I thought, turnovers would subside a little bit at some point, but then again, as I mentioned at the top interception inside the 5 Kelsey fumble in the green zone, Kelsey is interesting to monitor at this point. You just turn 32. And he is showing some signs of slowing down just a touch. My hope is, it's just a few nagging injuries, but he hasn't been as dominant against press and bump or man coverage this season. And the way defenses are playing Kansas City is forcing them to throw shorter. It's forcing them to hand the pull off to guys nobody knew existed. They're gore, right? It's taking the ball out of mahomes hands. And when he does throw, it's forcing mahomes to be a little bit more precise. It's putting his mechanics to the test. And it's also a combination of those things happening simultaneously while the chiefs are trying to adapt on the fly in kind of change their offense. So it just hasn't looked great, especially the last few weeks. Green based events. Is probably someone that you're not going to fear. I think they're somewhere in the bottom third of the NFL, especially with jair Alexander out. But it feels like the packers have a better, I don't know, idea and understanding of the new scheme. So my gut says if we're talking about the Green Bay defense four, 5, 6 weeks from now, and they're potentially healthier. They could be an average defense. But right now, I don't really see it. They've played the 7th easiest schedule of offenses. And I think the signs point to Thursday night against the cardinal's offense on a short week being nothing more than 60 minute anomaly. And I understand that Kenny Clark and rashawn Gary and Preston Smith are all starting to play to the contract. But there's also some guys that are playing so far above normalcy that you have to call for regression. These guys are playing out of their mind of Andre Campbell. Rasul Douglas, like two of the 5 highest graded defenders, Green Bay has three weeks. Devonte Campbell has been the best defender green behalf. Rus Douglas was on three different practice squad slash season. Campbell's been in the league 7 years. This is his second season as a player that's great above average. Maybe they're just hitting their stride pain. Maybe they're just now finding their proper placement and a defensive scheme with better suited to their skill sets. Maybe. Maybe that's what we're not in here. Devondra Campbell is a great story, and you've heard Aaron Rodgers in the floor and pressors. How often do they in the middle of a pressure being asked offensive questions and they may be like, well, our middle linebacker that we picked up off the scrappy has been like the best and most valuable player on the team. Aaron Rodgers saying that you start to start to kind of your ears perk up and be like, oh, we got to look into this. But I mean, Deandre Campbell has been really nothing more than a situational defender plays a lot of snapped on special teams previously. Again, just too positive seasons in terms of grading out. I'm sure he's going to continue playing well. But I doubt it's going to be to this level. My feeling is, you know, despite the drastic rest and prep advantage Green Bay has, Kansas City is going to be able to find some relative success here. We saw another spread you out three wide offense in Washington have real success against the packers two weeks ago. Now there was a slew of turnovers and Washington was dealing with a ton of injuries as well in that game, but 55% success rate 7 explosives 6.2 yards per play in that game. You're going to see a lot of that same spread principles from Andy Reid's offense. I would suspect Kansas City who is number two and run block win rate. Number two in PFF's run block grade in top ten in offensive line yards is able to run the ball into Green Bay's light boxes and right now they're 30th. And Russia efficiency defense..

"It was because of your rendition of thriller and turned it into thursday. I do believe that's was i. Avoid the old firm. I'm planning on undefeated november. But what a game last night nada. Now dude extremely exciting game but it was I really liked what the packers did. John's driving your touchdown murray. That's tempting intercepted by henry block. I down and goal. Rogers keeps floats. Pass talk by touchdown. Second of the game touchdown. Green bay snap again and picked off by russell. Douglas packers are gonna win it. Aj green bay green didn't look for the ball. Didn't i looked like he was blocked. Look like he thought it was a run play now. I heard tanner talking about this saying. Why didn't they run about how they didn't have any timeouts left. I don't think so so. They had no time outs left. Think it was fourteen left something like that. So i'm thinking you run the baugh. Do you have time to snap it right. You have time to spike it. But i mean if aj green looks for that ball it's touchdown game over if not it's a incompletion. He just stopped like he didn't know it was a run play. Yeah he was the run blocking or he's running fake route for something i mean. I wasn't complaining i needed. I thought here we get to thursday night special. it's been curse because they've always been close games or something weird happens. I don't get the cover. And i did not pick the packers to cover. I picked the packers to win this game. And they did and they did it without three of their receivers and then they ended up doing late without one of their tight end so the injuries continue to mount. I gotta say this though that game to me. It's not gonna be go down in history as one of aaron rodgers best games but that game to me shows me what pat shurmur and vic fangio that. Get the film of that game and watch it. Watch the hell out of what green bay did because what they do they adjusted. They made adjustments based on their personnel. How many times did you see padsher. How many times did you see. Noah fan run these little screen. What the hell are we doing. Their bill bubble screens noah fan. What are we doing with that. What was the quote. I think it was something this week about jerry. Judy that defenses. Don't have the scheme around him or something. Yeah i know jerry judy. I've watched him for years. You have to scheme around in does shurmur say that somebody said oh shurmur said a budget jeweler shurmur. Shurmur also said football teams. Just some teams. Just oh score in the first half. That's what he said. So like us up those gordon. The first half. I don't know how he said it. But that was the more. I listen to this guy and i watch. I watch live flu and the packers and i go. This is a team. That's very talented. They found a way to scheme. And edit their offense around their players. Rogers was not throwing the ball up and down the art. That was. that's normally the packers offense. They ran the hell out of the ball against sixteen carries for dylan fifteen carries for jones. But i mean. They were methodical in their approach in again a lot of rogers passes were more like run place. 'cause aaron jones also had seven receptions for fifty one yards a lot of those catches. Were more like runs so you you found ways to win a football game against arguably the best team in the nfl. Maybe the packers are now. I mean if you could win without your studs couple of your studs place. Who scary though they they they get that call that touchdown call review. That would've made a ten point game. I actually agreed if they wouldn't have called him in the end zone. But i did not think that the review showed enough to overturn that because they didn't show an angle where that ball was going over the line. But i i don't think he got in but it was a strange call. Then the delay of game then. Arizona takes it all the way down to get in the red zone. And you're thinking they're either gonna win this thing which of feeling like they were going to score or they're gonna kick Phil go to overtime. And then maybe arizona has the momentum on that side of it but heck of play again i know. Aj green screwed up a rasul. Douglas the concentration on that pick was was great and they made some key players and again what we talking about here. You're watching two teams last night especially green bay. They just get it you know. They have a good coaching staff. They have a good solid quarterback. They understand what it takes to win games. Which is why i questioned. Why aaron would want out of there. You wanna come to denver like everybody keeps tweeting this. Oh errands gonna look good broncos uniform do we just for who the hell with linebacker do we get from the rams young kenny young. Kenny young doesn't even want to be here bro. And you're you thinking. Aaron rodgers going to come here and be like dude. I was seven to one and we just knocked off the cardinals. I would imagine. The packers are favored to win the title. And you think he's going to come over here based on what you got stud wide receivers. But any of any of the broncos wide receivers hold a candle to devote to adams and adams goes rogers goes so right i was gonna say probably gonna depend on where the two of them go. And that means you're gonna have to get rid of some people or you're just like i don't see von miller on this team right now unless he just said suddenly flips a switch and light it up but again. I'm watching this game last night. And you guys. It's just frustrating because there's just different field and this is one of the packers. Do they hired a young and up and coming coach. They said we can grow with. The broncos hired a defensive minded sixty year old and i have no issue with the age thing if he was a proven guy at the age of sixty. How many head coaches get their first. Nfl head coaching job. At the age of sixty elway they went the route of young josh mcdaniels and vance joseph and then they decided. Now we're going to go. The complete opposite of that is watching this game last night. And it's just it's frustrating to see how this thing how this thing plays out when you see other of other teams find success. Okay talk to me about this pita wanting to change the name of the bullpen to arm barn. Surely they may surely major league baseball game on that right. You would hope not. But the the the reasoning i read was that they thought the or they're saying the bullpen. Where the bowl. Sit and wait to get slaughtered pretty slaughtering steers and and female and cows. Like that's what we're eating. We're not eating bowls and bowls or what you're using to produce more cows so you don't have them in like a pen ready to go get slaughtered. So that was a little a little bizarre. Because it's offensive to two bulls. Yeah i guess. I don't know. Terror did a good job explaining the whole because he has like forty million cows. Yes it's weird deal together. Wheeled deal they call for major league baseball to change term bullpen to arm barn to be sensitive to cows will wait. Cows are different. Cows are female angel l. Bulls are dudes so no.
