"That's the thing that I always, that always surprises me. I feel like that's all that must be wrong. There's no way that's right, but somehow we've all lived like 5 lifetimes since the bubble that had been done in Toronto. We've all, but it's yeah, I mean, I would love to see them. Yeah, I'm trying to, I'm trying to think about other stuff. I mean, have you, okay, here's a topic for you. Yeah. Have you talked to Philip chronic at all about the power of his mustache? Because his speaking of speaking of within without Philippine with and without ridiculously cool mustache is about as big of an extreme of two players offensively as you're going to find. So I broke Philip bronic streak, Philip had gone a thousand days without talking to media. Really? Speaking of two years, he had was that something he was doing intentionally? Well, clearly he knew the numbers. So he had gone a thousand days without talking to media between so like when NHL locked rooms reopened and everything like that. Obviously, some players were less thrilled than others. Philip Veronica someone who it's not that he's just, he likes to keep to himself, he wants to be by himself and he was quite proud of the fact he had gone so long. I made the mistake of I didn't know that this streak was going. I didn't know that he was trying to keep the streak going for so long. And so and I was just trying to I'm still obviously newer to red time span the redwoods coverage. I've been trying to talk to some guy to talk to them to talk to more players, everything like that. And so not even thinking that I'm stepping on the line of breaking up Cal Ripken style, Iron Man streak. I talked to him and we had like a quick minute and a half conversation and everything he was, it was fine, but it was.

"So yeah, I'm all for it longer. This last the better it is. And I'm also all for these wacky, late Pacific time games as well because I'm up watching them and I love seeing people waking up in the morning and looking at the scores and being like, oh my God, what on earth happened last night? So that's always fun. I was looking at I was because I'm usually up pretty early because I got the little I get the little guy who's just recently turned two and so I was I actually some of those late West Coast games have become I've been able to just kind of watch the third period like early the next day where I've intentionally not checked the score and so kind of becomes wacky early morning stuff. And so that's actually how I came across the score of this game my wife came downstairs and made my son or watching the game and she's and she's stopped and she's like, what sport are you watching? She saw the scoreboard. She says it's like wait, are you actually watching a hockey game right? Yeah, that's good. All right, well is there anything else on Seattle do you want to get to? A guy like ten minutes here. The darling and the kraken stuff were kind of like my two big topics I wanted to hate with you here, but we can just use the rest of the show to just talk about whatever is interesting to us these days. Yeah, let's go that. I mean, yeah, I'm pretty good with that. Who are you planning on? Who do you want to get that's in town next in Detroit that you really want to you really want to talk to rich chat with? Because you mentioned that you've got this recurring piece that you're going to have up on Ali prospects every two weeks now and it's going to be kind of like a notebook piece where you unleash some nuggets that you've that you accrued in your conversations with people who do you really want to get who do you want to talk to? What's interesting to you? Yeah, so important the schedule now to make sure I have this all fresh and I know it's to me. That I'm always a bit of a goalie nerd that's just a reality of it. So I'm really hoping that

"Believe no one scores more than them across all situations. I think that's a bit aggressive in terms of a future projection or expectation from them and a lot of it is fueled by the fact that their first and shooting percentage in both game states and so that's probably not going to continue, but I think there's a lot to like here and there's certainly playing in a much more conducive way to at least being average or slightly above average offensively and considering how good they already were defensively last year in terms of taking away that space and basically doing the opposite of what they're doing now offensively. How good they are at that as long as they can get reasonable goaltending and not just get completely caved in, which to me is the biggest question of all here as good as Martin John's was prior to that game. I think it's a big worry for me moving forward. But if they can make life easier for him and then keep producing this way, like they're going to be feisty all year. I think it's pretty legit. Oh yeah, and it's a team too that I think it's like this is actually something kind of connected like I talked to Mark Giordano. And obviously he's probably like, where was this last year? Yes, yes. It's amazing to think that a second year franchise has an ex captain, just because he was, like, it's funny. Like he obviously excited, it's an honor to be someone who was a captain of two different NHL franchises, but from a Seattle perspective, did you really need to name a captain of a guy you probably were planning on trading the entire time, but that's another whole discussion. But. You're down talked about one thing he said that's kind of that was interesting to me. That's kind of stuck with me about the setup in Seattle and he talked about kind of the way the way they're going to play on the ice combined with the support and kind of the feeling around there. He used the word it's going to become one of the best like most desirable places for players to go play. And player it's easy like how often how many times do we hear that players always say something nice about where they were before and but to me the truth of that coming from Giordano is more so when I look at the evidence like we're talking about, where if you're a if you're a player and you're looking at your options in the future and you're looking at how Seattle plays and they look at and you look at how you make

"Why this team is so much more successful so far this season than they were in their inaugural year. Yeah, and two other two things this stuff for me too about the kraken's offensive creation too is and it's going to be overly cliched and everything like that, but they're for check they created though I think it was might have been there's so many goals. But one of the I don't think even technically I don't think McCann even got a point on this one, it's the one where he has the four check basically wipes the wipes out and then we want to be cocky coach speak. He goes, takes them out, F two takes the puck F three scores, right? But I think the whole, the way they turn the four check into offense is impressive and then also in the, in the Everly was obviously, I thought everybody was great in that game, by the way. But there was the other way you see just kind of the way Seattle, I think the way from the park. I think it was the I want to make sure I remember which goal it was properly. I think it was, I know, remember correctly veneers was the first to go all I'm trying to like what was it? I don't know, there were 9 of them to pick from. Yeah, yeah, there was a ridiculous amount. The one where I basically cracking up Seattle has the puck. Seattle has the puck in the corner and basically it's the spin off play and then dowdy basically gets juked in the slot for the easy to happen. And it was a play to me that just obviously it's pretty poor coverage by the kings, but it's a kind of a good capturing of how Seattle moves away from the puck, how they go to space, how they do all of that. I thought it's like, they're a good team. This was obviously 9 goals as an aberration, but they are a good team. They create and they make space for each other, and they do a really good job of making life easier for their line mates. And I think that's kind of the biggest thing about the Seattle forward core from my perspective, watching them is you see, you see how they play, you see how, when you're the puck carrier, it's easier because of what your teammates are doing and vice versa. So that's the mark of a good hockey team.

"Sportsnet radio network. Take that. All right, we're back on our PDO cast here, Dimitri povich, joined by Sean Shapiro Shawn. So we talked about the sabers in the first block. Do you want to talk about the crack on a little bit here because they were also in your piece and you got the chat with Mark Giordano about them when they were in town and Detroit there, but I kind of wanted to do like a full deep dive episode the other day right after that 9 8 game just because I was like it'll be funny if I did a full 50 minute show just like dissecting this game, but I couldn't find anyone that was depraved enough to do so with me. So we're going to talk about it a little bit here instead. So where do you want to go with this cracking conversation? Well, why don't we start we can start with a 17 goal game just because it's fresh in my mind because genre Rosen, who is doing something John Rosen is covers the kings now for the forum report and has also so he texted I've done some gold breakdowns in the past and John texted me the other day. I asked if I could help him out with some of this stuff just from that game. And so I went through and watched rewatched all 17 of those goals. So they're all fresh in mind for me right now and. Yeah, I believe I could score high blocker right now. You know what's funny? I watched that before. I watched game in its entirety live 'cause I'm a hearing from the West Coast that was at a reasonable hour for me. But then I wanted to see because I go on sports and I was like 5 minute recap sometimes. And I was like, I'm very curious to see how they're going to jam in these 17 goals into this 5 minute clip. And it was really funny 'cause they were so tight on time that they would, they would show the goal, but then instead of doing the thing where it shows the goalie kind of looking sad after getting up, like they were almost like trimming each one. So you'd see the puck go into the net and it would instantly go to the next clip. They didn't have time to linger on any of them. I was listening to I listened to the audio the other day excited to do my good college friend of mine actually ever fits you as the radio voice for CIO. So good. And so Everett and I were Bowling Green. He actually fun fact, he actually at Bowling Green, he gave Andrew Hammond the hamburglar nickname actually.

"They just felt their best option was pairing those two guys up on the top here and then just punting basically every other minute. And that exposed a lot of the issues that they still have in place, which is the depth and having other players who can at least just come out neutral in their minutes if they don't have their top players out there and they didn't have that. But when they've had at least one of those two guys on the ice at 5 on 5 this season, they're up 43 to 32. Without either of them on the ice, they're getting just massacre 20 to 9 at 5 and 5 in terms of goals born against. And so that really, that's the stat, right? And I can see why I can see why there's been all these rumblings about them being sort of a recent entrant into the Jacob chickering sweepstakes and whether they'd be interested in trading for him. And I understand the natural reaction of that as well, this team is going to miss the playoffs again. They have a sub 500 record as I just mentioned why would they be trading futures for any player and I get that? They're one of the few teams where I actually think it makes sense depending on the price of course. It's not worth it. But to get a player who's 24, 25 years old, under contract, so he fits in the timeline with all these other players. They have so many assets in terms of draft picks that they take in the past couple of years and futures as well coming up that they can sacrifice some of them in a trade without necessarily bleeding themselves completely dry. And it fits a legitimate need. Now, him, Dolly in power and Samuelson are all left shots, so that's not ideal in terms of constructing a depth chart, but I can see why they'd be interested in it. And so I'm all for it price permitting. I think it makes a lot of sense. Yeah. Right shot defenseman in this economy. Yeah. Yeah, it's a good point. Yeah. All right, well, before we go to break, is there anything else on Dolly in or the sabers that you wanted to get to or anything related to this, I guess, before? Because we want to talk about the kraken has been a bit, but I feel like we can probably see for the second. I think we can save that for block too.

"You see a guy like Dolly and looking at kind of the future of his position and knowing that he's part of the trendsetter, but is not, it kind of wants to see that across the league too. That was kind of a cool conversation to have with him as well just between just kind of in addition to some of the stuff I already wrote about with him. It was just kind of hear it to hear him talk about what he wants to see from both sides. And now he wants to see cider do a little bit of that. And to kind of hear him be a fan of another young offensive dynamic defenseman who's trying to take that next step. It was really fun, fun for me. Well, but were you at that? Were you at the Sabres wings game or were you just like the pregame skate? I had a beer league game last night where I had to go. So I signed up watching it last night, but I ended up watching the replay of it afterwards. But I had an important beer league game against the one team that is, we'll call the antagonist of the league. Which we beat them in a shootout. I stacked the pads going right to left in the third round of the shootout, and we won. I am important things last night. There we go. Nice, nice little humble brag there. Yes, oh yeah. So here's the thing, not to turn this into a full saber's deep dive, but I did just want to make this point in this in conjunction with this conversation about Dali and the Sabres are ten, 12 and one this season, right? They started off hot. They had that 8 game losing streak. I think you can see a lot of the issues that are still in place, right? They give up a lot of defensively. Their goal dating is still very hit or miss that there's details that need to iron out. But for me, what I keep coming back to that's so encouraging and it ties into Dolly's performance is here are some of their numbers at 5 one 5 in terms of offense. There's 7th in goals, they're 9th and expected goals generated and they're 11th and high injury chances generated. And to me, that's a team that has something legitimately in place already to build upon, right? I think the toughest thing in this league is finding these building blocks that can create create for themselves and others that can legitimately move the needle for your organization that are just like the linchpins of everything, right? That everything runs through them. And those are typically the players who drive the bus offensively for you, and they have that in place already in this nucleus, both in terms of tej Thompson and Alex talk and JJ peterka and Jack quin and then Dolly and in power, they have that in place. It's a lot easier to work on the details to find players in the margins that can improve your depth and limit the number of holes you have on your lineup. And it's an organization that has invested quite a bit in analytics the past couple of years in terms of their front office.

"Yeah, it's in too many I'm glad the thing that too many times a lot of times talent does went out, but there are times where you get the supremely talented young offensive minded defenseman who goes through that and just gets broken, right? Like there's been example. Let's get broken and they never and they never become what they could have been and that's the best the best thing is that that didn't happen. The fact that he was always a such a confident guy and it was never going to be I don't think he was ever not going to have confidence in his game, but you could have you could have had his game broken more. He could have had things driven out of him that he didn't and I am so happy as a hockey fan that that didn't happen. That Rasmus dahlin was allowed to endure and remain Rasmus stalling and it's. Credit to Donato for being for doing a good job of being of helping kind of resuscitate that. And also with how buffalo has handled things and obviously it took a little while to get there. Credited to dalin for not getting caught up in so much of the other off ice stuff and kind of the ups and downs to that franchise and I'm sure it can't and I know people like it can't be easy when that team is going through a tough time they are and you look up in their 6000 people there. Like it's not like I know people want to say all their hockey players but like you can look up and when the building is pretty much empty and no one's carrying it starts to get draining it starts to get its people apathy is worse like people booing is actually better than apathy because people bowing are at least like, okay, people still care. With what happened in Buffalo is basically an entire fan base just kind of decided like this isn't even worth our time and obviously COVID didn't help, but well, I want to say, especially for a fan base that we've seen in terms of not only how they the bills are good now and how they embrace them, but also like my interactions with Sabres bands online is that they're a very passionate bunch. Like they genuinely care about their team. And I don't blame them for that apathy when the product you've been served for so long with so many deep rooted internal issues keep propping back up. I totally understand it. You know, that's a great point you make about for player like Dali and

"And that's kind of one of the reasons I had it so I had a lovely folks at EP rinks out against lovely folks myself included. We get to kind of gave me a little bit of space every other week now where I'm just going to kind of be allowed to just dive into some fun random odd stories and calling it unnumbered thoughts, just obviously a bit of a, I think Elliott Friedman's 32 thoughts obviously Elliot kind of pioneered that format and that format's great and but not pretending to be a Elliot so a through whatever letter we get through each week and I talked to harassment yesterday when buffalo was in Detroit and it's funny I asked the savers PR woman who's a lovely lady asking her asking her why if I could get Rasmussen, the retort that she's probably pretty good at now is well which one because well there's only two of them now. There's only two of them down down down from three but I'm not sure if it's RAS Mai or Rasmus. I'm not really sure what the plural of Rasmus is. Well I don't know how many I don't know how many people are asking for Rasmus asplund media availability, maybe the true true hockey Twitter nerd degenerates, but I'm sure not many many mainstream policies. That's fair. That's fair. But so erasmus dalin, we I love how confident he is about how he thinks hockey should be better and more personable off the ice. Last year when I believe it was out of the last game or the last home game before Rick generate did his final game with buffalo, he was actually kind of the player catalyst that helped get the custom skate graphics on the onto the player skates for warm ups where Rick didn't know it was coming and it was kind of cool and I've talked to the guys who have built that brand in Buffalo before and he's worked with them and so I and Rasmus kind of I could have asked him about that and a lot of times you ask a player about something cool and they're like, oh yeah, I did that and that's it. That's kind of all they say and they don't really expand and instead he was willing to just he kind of just took the conversation further. He talked about why he looks at the NBA. He looks at soccer. He looks at these other sports where he's watching the World Cup right now and guys are encouraged to have flair. They're encouraged to have personality and he just wants that in hockey and he has no issue saying that. And I love that about brass delete and you know what? It translates onto the ice. So good segue. Yes, well first off, I can't stress enough both how miserable everyone involved but especially him I feel like was during that shortened 2021 season four Ralph Kruger got fired where they were quite literally trying to jam a square peg into a round hole stylistically where there were a flawed team certainly not anyone they weren't going to compete regardless. They had Jack eichel and Taylor hall at the time and before they traded brand them onto her as well.

"Welcome to the hockey PDO cast. My name is Dimitri filipovic and joining me is my good buddy Sean Shapiro, Sean. What's going on in? I'm not much, not much. I don't know the full history of it, but I was thinking about this before you and I hopped on. You know, you know like that hold that Paul Rudd, look at us, Jeff. Yeah. Well, I mean, choosing moms choose Jeff, right? Yes. Well, what about it? That's from hot ones. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, but it's kind of, I always kind of get a bit of that feeling when we hop on the podcast now. Especially after a day like today when other parts of our respective work careers have crossed paths as well and God do added some wonderful Troy Terry content earlier, just kind of like look at us, man. It's a good time. That's really nice. I feel the same way the feelings meet. Although I was gonna say, I was gonna introduce you by say the man who must be utterly sick of me. By this point because you're tasked with making my writing look pretty. At AB ring side, sometimes I just, I just jot down my thoughts without too much second guessing and then I just leave that for the editor. So apologies if that is the case. But it doesn't, it was about Troy Terry. So I mean, how bad could it really be? Pretty fun topic. I will say, though, I did a full block on Terry early this week in the video cast, so I don't want to repeat that all over again. So we'll save that. People can go to EP ringside and read my article or just re listen to the duck's podcast. I did earlier this week. Let's talk about another topic near and dear to my heart that you wrote about recently as well. And that is erasmus Dali and now you kind of framed your piece in terms of your conversation with him and everything from like, I feel like a bit more of a sort of off the ice or also on the ice from like a fashion perspective and his personality and all that. And I think it's certainly an important one because we often talk about how we wish NHL players were motivated and enabled and allowed and or willing to show us more of that personality in any sort of form. And so the way you dress and all that is certainly one way to do that. And so you can discuss that if you want. I kind of want to talk about Rasmus dalian on the ice because I think you really see his personality there as well in terms of the way he plays. Yeah, I think Russ was to Ellie and it's kind of funny because it's like I had to be. The former stars beat writer for a little bit you had to be you got roped into being a Dolly and in the anti darling camp for a little bit because there was the Twitter battle lines drawn that you weren't allowed to appreciate both Miro haskin and Rasmus dahlin in that rookie season. To serve your contingency well enough, you had to for some reason take shots at the other guy and I'm glad that that was never something you wanted to do, but it was by when people weren't voting for Miro and all that stuff. It was at the time, but Rasmus dalin is great for hockey or else miss darlene is fun Rasmus dahlin is fun on and off the ice and we'll talk about it on the ice. We'll talk about it on those two, but just off the ice. One thing I love about Rasmus darlene is he's very, I love his confidence in the way he talks about how this sport needs to get better.

"I think Jack honestly thought that he was going to get a standing ovation. You know, he put a lot into this, you know, his game. I don't think there was too many nights when you can actually sit there and say that Jack did not give everything to this team. And I think that he was actually very surprised that the fans were bullying them. And I think that hurt, I think he was shocked, I think he was hurt. And I think there's also some media members that pushed Jack's buttons and I think Jack at times struggles with his emotions on how to deal with it. So coming off a loss in the return when you're thinking, yeah, everyone's kind of going to be like, thanks for what you tried to do here. All of a sudden, he's getting the booze. They lose and that's what that's what kind of spurred those comments that I'm not going to say. I know for a fact, but I'm guessing he regrets it a little bit, right? I mean, he's made a complete enemy out of the entire city now, whereas if he had just said like, hey, I've moved on it. It would be a little different. Yeah. Well, listen, I mean, that's the life in general, right? We make, listen, I made a shit ton of bad decisions. My career. We've got much time, you got much time. We'll get to those in a second part. Yeah, right. You know, I think Jack looking back would have would have really liked to choose words a little differently. I think there was just so much emotion. I think Jack wanted to come back here. I think he wanted to perform well. I think he wanted to win for his team. And it was just an emotional roller coaster. He gets traded for Peyton krebs. He scores the first goal. It's 20 year old kid, okay? Then all of a sudden you have Alex tuck who comes in and scores the third goal to make it three one and, you know, I think Jack was pissed off. He's a competitor. There's no question about it. He's a very, very competitive kid. But at the same time, Jack over the course of his time here in Buffalo, watch them countless time deal with the emotional side of things. He's a very emotional player, he's an emotional guy when he talks after games, and I think sometimes he just gets himself in a little bit of trouble. All right, what was the reason for the team just not let him get the surgery he preferred? Was it loyalty to the doctors? Was it an eagle thing? Why did they just let him get it? I don't know. I can't answer that question, but I'll tell you this. I think, you know, when you look at it as former players that have played in the game, you know, I think Jack did the right thing. Okay, I'll tell anybody that. I think Jack did the right thing. I think us players, no one's going to tell us what to do with our body because we're the ones that are going to have to deal with the shit after we're done the game. I mean, we've all been through this. We all have issues, you know? Like, you think that once we play all this time in the NHL and how demanding it is on your body that all of a sudden you just finish the game and everything's fine. No, there's multiple surgeries that follow, you know, I just had a surgery on my knee three and a half months ago just to continue to clean it up. I always have issues. And you got to take care of yourself. I think Jack did the right thing by holding out. It probably went longer than an expected because Jack's making $10 million a year. And there's only certain amount of teams that can fit them under their cap, right? The brightest spot for me in the Sabres this year, no doubt has been tag Thompson and I see this kid, he's enormous, his shot is one of the best shots in the league. Like, are we looking at a future guide 30 to 40 goals score? Like, this doesn't seem like a flash in the pan to you. And I know you mentioned that they didn't get much in return, but wasn't he part of that deal. The O'Reilly deal, he was, he was, but at the time it was, it didn't look like. Well, listen, I mean, when you go back to the trade and you're looking like we ended up getting four players in the trade, one guy quit halfway throughout the season and says, I hate this team so much that I'm quitting and leaving like an insane amount of money on the table and there's a few other players that were just like, you know, lower end third line guys. And then tage Thompson at the time was a first round draft pick. But after half a season in Buffalo, they ended up sending him down to the miners because he was just struggling so much. And this is the first year that we've actually seen cage Thompson come to life. I mean, he's 24 years old. He's 6 foot 7. He's 220 pounds. You know, it's taken this guy, he looked like Bambi when he was 20 years old. He was just very thin, just needed to grow into his body a little bit more, but you know, you watch him. He's got great hands. He's got a great shot. And the interesting part about it is he was put, he was put at center this year. I mean, hasn't played center. I can't even tell you how long. And Don grenado just said, we're going to try this guy at center and it's worked out very well for the team. You just mentioned dawn, like obviously he's, you know, he's done a good job of getting this group to play for each other. You know, you get videos of him talking either before or after the game. And what other reason would you credit this turnaround? I mean, obviously tuck coming in being fairly somewhat of a hometown guy. Like, what are the things that you're seeing where you could see some positivity actually going forward past this season, not just the end of the year and the doldrums of before playoffs. And kind of doing what Edmonton and Whit did for all those years. Yeah. I mean, I think the first and foremost, you're looking at a group of players, a lot of them are really young, okay? They don't even, they don't even know what the hell is going on in the league, like Peyton krebs is just, you know, he's made the sappers, he's happy to be here. Dylan cozens is only a year and a half into his playing career. And you can just go on and on and on, miss Samuelson, Rasmus dahlin. There's a young group, okay?.

"Way of thinking about it. But you are building down the middle of the ice. Your goalie, defense and centres wingers. You can find those wingers. I'm not saying Brady to Chuck. You can find them. Okay. But I would put Critica Chuck's too. I would do Dahling one Chuck, too. I wouldn't even I wouldn't even have Darlene ahead of Quinn. Why are you Why would you take Don't mean ahead of Quinn, If what with what you've seen. We're because after what you've seen so far, Yeah, You're gonna take Darlene number one. You're crazy. I'm not crazy. There's a reason why I'm picking down number one. OK, I will ask you this 2000 and nine NHL entry draft. Who do you pick John Tavares or Victor Hedman, number one. Edmond, OK? Hedman. You picked Hedman over John Tavares Gionta versus a centre John Tavares is almost a point a game throughout his career. Okay, fantastic hockey player. Very good. Very good. Very elite. Good elite. Good. Okay, but you're still taking the defenseman number one because Victor Hedman wit is point production. And growing into his body and obviously now winning cups. And all of that. You're like Hedman has the guy. I think Darlene could be a close to Victor Hedman. Okay, Well, let me ask you this way, then. So it doesn't favor your argument. Craig. If John Tavares were in the 2018 draft, would he go number one overall for you? Or would you take Brady could Chuck Mm. Mm. I wish I had the jeopardy beepers. I probably right now. With what I've seen from Brady could chuck in his the early very early parts of his career. I think you're going to see the massive coming out party for Brady could Chuck when he's 23 24 25. That's when I think he is going to. That's what's so use named Brady could chuck then I would still say Brady could Chuck because Brady could Chuck if you tell him Listen, stay away from the mutt bag stuff on the ice and just go out and play offensive hockey and produced points for a team. I think that he would produce a lot of points. If you want him to be physical. He is definitely going to be physical. He's one of the most physical guys in the National Hockey League. He you do not want this guy fighting. You don't want him fighting, but he will fight. He's kind of like a Dylan cousins. You don't want him fighting, but you want him to play his game with the passion that he's going to play with. So you can get the most out of his game. You don't want them fighting, but you love that they're willing to. And that's Brady Could Chuck again. He's defensively responsible. He'll blocked shots. He's going to do anything. He's going to stick up for teammates. He's he's clearly taken a leadership role in Ottawa, and I would not be surprised if they name him. The captain of the Ottawa Senators absolute very soon. Absolutely. And I love to look at it. That's the first three years they're the same as Sam Reinhart's. I love Greek. A Chucky has multiple, uh, um, kind of like assets to his game. He can. One night he wants to play and score. You'll do it. He wants to be physical. Another night, he'll do it. I love Brady. Can Chuck I still want that stud defenseman Rasmus Darlene in his first year at 44 points in 82 games. In the second yard 40 points in 59 games and take then take another defenseman. Maybe, but let me ask you, so he was the best. You know, the look at Victor Hedman. And you ask me about Victor Hedman when Victor Hedman was drafted Number two overall in the NHL entry draft? Yeah. What was he known as? I'll be honest with you. I don't really remember. The only thing I remember is that there was a big debate between the centre and the defenseman. Um Hedman was a six ft six defenseman. That was big, but I I don't remember what the scouting report at that time when Bob McKenzie said about Victor Hedman and what he was gonna turn out to be, so I can't tell you what it was. Well, I can tell you this. He wasn't known as an offensive defenseman. Yeah, at all. He was taken five years to get to always know. He was known as a very big mobile skating defenseman. What kind of defenseman is he? We don't really know yet, but we know that he skates very well. We know that he's got good hockey sense and we know that he can, you know, move the puck. He wasn't offensive. Rasmus Darlene's in a different position. Rasmus Darlene is considered one of the most offensive defenseman to be drafted. In the last 2030 years. So it's very difficult for an offensive guy, which that's the reason why we drafted you first overall to fall into a position to play a style like Victor Hedman, But darling is not Erik Karlsson. He's not like one dimensional. We play offense and that defensive zone back there. I don't know what it's like. I don't play in that zone. That's not his Dolina study. The defenses don't know. Okay. I think rest was Darlene can turned out to be a multiple, uh I kind of I'm looking forward and I said asked twice, but like it has more to his game. I can't just the offensive society. I totally agree with everything that you're saying. I'm projecting here too. I'm going to tell you right? Five years down the road at 26. Okay, five years down the road at 26. We go back to the 2018 draft. And I'm gonna redrafted and I will have Rasmus Dahlin first. That's where I'm projecting it. No. No, I won't. I won't put him first, but I think that like you said. And this is the most important thing. With time with growth. Think you can see Rasmus Darlene as the Norris Trophy winner. I think he is going to evolve and understand how to play a bigger game than what he played when he was in in Sweden all those years, which was a very elusive Offensive defenseman. Okay? You're saying he could be winning Norris at a time where skilled defenseman in this league I think are at an all time high. Young, skilled young so guys that could win the generous multiple times over and over like you have the kid and then the Rangers. You have a car you have Hughes, you have high skinning. You know you want to look at look at actually still have years of Hedman. Like I know, I know Marty what you're trying to say with Darlene and where he can go with his game, but it's very tough to overlook. Uh, you know, a Quinn Hughes when he in his first year in the league, he had 68 games played. 68 53 points as a rookie. He was He had 14 more games to play. He would have had 10 more points. He would have been 60 plus points in a rookie year. Then last year. He had an off season..

"Start talking about their fourth or fifth best guys as the return in the Eichel trade and my desire to take on that contract, even though I have, uh I mean, I have a sinkhole of a problem in goal. I don't have any NHL goalie signed. Right now, like I'm in real trouble, but I, You know, it's got to be the right trade. I got to be getting the right pieces back. If I'm going to take what is quick to more years at six million, or 5858. Um, you know, like he solves a problem in a certain way for me and doesn't really because of this point I've already made about Opus. Oh, and the salary cap for the Sabres doesn't really create a problem for me. You know if it if it avails me of the right guys coming back. I can live with Jonathan quick in his in his current state with that salary for a couple of years, because by the time he's done with that contract, and I'm done with him in that contract I'm probably just getting ready ideally to get going again. So it's not a big deal to me. If I have to take on that money, you know, it's not the best case scenario but again. The target is moving to me, depending on what I'm getting back. And you know I to me it would be worth it if you're getting either of their top two guys. Then fine you want You want to make me take it now. I don't know. I haven't looked at quick You got Can you get to keep friendly? Quick, quickly? Yes, I'm quick. Yes. Um, is he is he? No move, like is he? You know he's over status in the left. Nothing, Nothing. Okay, well, then, you know the new would convince him. I know. Maybe he signed it long enough ago, before everyone got those. Um, you know, if you have to convince him to come here, um fine, like I I got I have. No, I have no problem taking that if I get the right return. Yeah, that could be good. I mean, there's there's quite a I don't. I don't like saying this. I'm being a little cheeky here, but there's kind of a freedom and no expectations of winning it. All right. Like you want to make the playoffs someday. A When B. Could the Sabres get away with sort of using a date? Probably not, And that's something the teams wouldn't do. No, usually right. Like what if they said three years is that something that they would think is bad would be bad for their fans to hear. I mean, how? How obvious do they want to be about this right? It depends. I guess on what a trade like that looks like if they trade Jack Eichel to the Kings, and they get to young pieces and Jonathan quick. They can go to the press conference and be real. Or they go to the press conference. Say, Like, Look, Jonathan, Quick is won Stanley Cups We're back. I mean, just I don't know. I want them to be real at all times. And what's real here? I think or what it will be is like we're starting over. But you know those those words are not always right. What our teams want to put it. I I I doubt that they would if really pressed. Um And this might even be an honest answer to an extent like they might know. In their heart of hearts. It's going to take a long time but putting a date on it. I think it's hard. It would be hard for me to put a date on it. Honestly, aside from saying this year, it's not happening. Because I don't know how quickly and I don't know who really knows how quickly any of the guys they get in return in a Jack Eichel trade or Sam Reinhart trade. Are going to be impactful NHL players, nor do I think they know exactly when Rasmus Dahlin is going to hit his peak or Dylan cousins like, How quickly is he going to be a really impactful NHL player? It could happen quickly. It could take two or three years for that group of guys and they're all not going to emerge at the same time, Probably, but for you to have a fully formed group of guys that when you're starting out are between the ages of 19 and 22. Saying. I mean, it's hard to put a target on that, I think, like so that I mean, I sound like I'm rehearsing for the news conference with a cop out of a refusal to answer the question, but I think legitimately, it's hard to put a date on it. It's hard to put a date on it, and you don't want to rule out the possibility that it happens fast like in in the best case scenario, like I I think experience is overrated. I think development maybe even is overrated. It's certainly I think, overplayed or over over discussed by teams teams use it as a crutch or an excuse, well development. But, you know, put your best guys on the ice. And apart from that, like, I just think who knows how fit how fast or how long it should take for a team of that short to be competitive, like making the playoffs and even It. On a team like that. It's just sort of getting better and giving like we've had that here. We've had that with the bills. We had that with the sabre team before the cancelled season, If not since Where going into that? Well, they had the year off. And then it was kind of starting a new again but that there was a buzz about some of the guys there and like what that was going to look like. Coming out of it. And then the year after that, they were great. So that that can work. You know that can work people are going to have you know, Some people are just going to shut the door to them. But You know you can. You're going to have some sort of new, fresh kind of attitude about who's on the roster and what that can be. And you know that can take That can that can be fun. That can be fun. So maybe if you see a team there where certain individuals at least look promising and look like you know, these are guys we can really go with. Then they have to do what they didn't do. Well, the last time Which is it's through the rest of it right? And so you know, that's not today's problem, I guess, but Well, Corey had a bunch of dates there. I I had trouble. With like the the order. It's a lot. There were kind of all over the place, but it's too much it is. It is a week until You have to put it put in your protected list like that's next Saturday. Mm. And I didn't think about the one he had about how the league has a roster freeze after that. From the Sunday to the Is it a Wednesday that the expansion draft or whatever that is? Yeah, it runs runs up close to the draft itself. The NHL draft 21st. Yeah, right. Okay. That's two days before the entry draft, right. So for a few days there, you can't make those moves, But that's when you're talking about them, and then You know you You hit us with them after that, right at the entry draft, Probably Yeah, but this proposal thing would be before it'll be next week at the latest by next Saturday, as would any sort of if there's cycle news or anything. They want to. Do something and then be able to have the protected list that they want. Then that would also be be next week. Do you know when you want to when and where you want to be for that news Like What kind of state you want to be at work. Do you want to be? Yes, Kel News? Yes. Um, I have for Five or six days running now. Um, when I wake up whenever that is four, A.m. five a. M six A.m.. And I press my my iPad to see what time it is. I will see notifications with emails there and There had there was a day this week where there were like six notifications there. From when I had last looked at it from when I fell asleep until whatever hour that was again sometime early in the morning, and I got excited the day there were a bunch of because I like Oh, my God is one of those from the Sabres. So I wanted to happen while I'm asleep and wake up to it. I want to wake up to this trade and, like, go go put the coffee on and sit down. And like, okay, what do I have? That is what happened to me with Antonio Brown, but that's kind of screwy because like that, was it 10 at night and I was asleep. The Sabres were in Chicago. Remember that? And so I woke up to check the score and Twitter was all about Antonio Brown like you. Wait. I think I better get up, right, so not not asleep asleep, but something like that well. Thinking about certain other big sabers, news events where we were, You know, some of them. You'll remember we might get into that as we get through the day. 80305 50 is the number not just doing Sabres today we've got Jeff Erickson from Roda Wire will do Fantasy football. We've got Ryan Hore vet bet QL coming up today as well and Lots of lots of football again today as usual, Mike show open the bulldog here again..

"That is Sabres General manager Kevyn Adams speaking about the draft class. And yesterday. The question I believe was was asked in the way of, you know, you know, I think it was Mookie Hawkins, who asked this question. And he asked, you know about Oh, and power, Just like you know. How do you feel about him? And, you know, is he going to pretty much be the next you know Josh Allen of this draft or something like that. And Kevin Adams had that response. He didn't necessarily mentioned Oh, and power and Listening to it again, You know, um, certainly it It leaves a little doubt in your mind as to if the savers are actually going to draft him. I mean, yes, I get it. The Sabres have been busy with the the coaching search and coach watch and figuring out what they're going to do. And they hired Don Granato. And yesterday A story comes out from Mike Morey Allen NHL dot com. Talking with Own power. Little bit of his future and whether he's going to make the jump to the NHL or go back to Michigan and play another year with the Wolverines, which I think is absolutely fine. Power can do that veneers can do that. Ken Johnson. Obviously he should do that. But Looking at the top of the draft, and we just talked with Will Scotch Great job with the scouting report on YouTube, and, uh, he's at Scow Ching on Twitter. He does a great job breaking down these these prospects and putting them in their own tears and rankings and He definitely said something that I would agree with. I would agree with the fact that I'm not necessarily so sold on Owen Power. Yes, I think Owen power had a good World Championship, and I think that at times he really he really did flashes potential at the car at the collegiate level, but There are certain things about Owen Powers game that Still needs some work. And you know another year college could potentially help with that. But Will scour each pretty much put it as you know, it took him time to adjust it with certain things. And there were certain aspects of his game that necessarily didn't come about, you know. Right away or didn't come about at all during the season, so We will have to see. But I'm looking at this year's draft that I'm looking at the top of the draft, and I really do like Matthew Veneers. I really like Matthew B. Ba nears a lot and if you if you missed it, and it's been a while since I I wrote these prospects Profiles, but I did write about Owen Power and I did write about Matthew veneers on our website. W gr 5 50 dot com. And Looking at Both of their games. Matthew Veneers is Definitely a player that people no matter where he's going to get drafted. People are going to love Matthew Veneers. He is a 200 ft player. He goes 110% 100% of the time. And he he's just never going to give up on a play. That's exactly what people in buffalo are going to love about Matthew Veneers and with Owen Power, and this is a and I hate bringing this up. Because this has been brought up in the past and talked about here, especially in Buffalo. If you're drafting Owen Power for size in skating. Do not expect him to be Zidane. Oh, Ciara. Tyler Myers when people when we drafted him, and everybody was just like, Oh, he's got to become the Sedano Ciara, please. Zidane Oh, Ciara's. They do not grow on trees. They do not come every once in a while. They are once in a lifetime players and the way this game is going Players like Zidane, Achara. Yes, they're still going to be around, but they're not going to be many of them. And for people looking at Owen power and thinking that Oh, well, he's got the six ft six frame £215 yada yada. Well, if he adds another £20 and adds a little muscle and gets tough, He can be the city. No trial. No, We cannot expect that of these guys, especially in today's game. A lot of these type of defenseman are going to Make the they're going to develop into these very good skating defenseman with heads up all the time and making these really nice plays and Owen Power is one of those guys who probably has one of the who probably has arguably the best vision of especially the defenseman in this draft class. He skates really well, but if you watch him, his head is always up, and he's always looking around trying to make the best passes and trying to make the best players. He's got very good vision. Very good hockey sense. And, you know, there are reasons why he is projected to be where he is at number one just because of the potential that he has Especially if he goes back to college this year and really puts it all together and starts to dominate at the collegiate level that will make that pick even more of a Oh, yeah, for sure, That's why he was drafted number one. However. Like Will said there are certain things with his game that there are still plenty of question marks about And I personally really like Matthew veneers. And if I am the Sabres at number one, I'm probably taking Matthew veneers. But Then again. Like I brought up You look at his Potential projection and and, you know, looking ahead at what he could become if he becomes a really nice second pair defenseman, especially on the left side. And if you have Rasmus Dahlin here in Buffalo as the number one defenseman who you know he's shown over the past few years that he can have that potential to become That top number one defenseman for an organization and and be able to do all he can do. The Sabres have Darlene and power 12. That's a really, really nice 12 punch on your defensive group, and especially with Ryan Johnson coming in who could be the Third or second pair left handed defenseman on the on the right side. You've already got Henry. Okay? How are you? And you've also got Will Borgen, Who's there? And Oscar relaxing and is a really, really.

"How are you? And Bryson. In helping them and they see a guy that Was just a player back in 2019, so he knows what the modern player is going through right now. He didn't retire 25 years ago when the game was different. Anything or well, I know the answer, but it's my job to ask you these questions. So anything new on the Michael front out of yesterday's zoom call that we learn anything. All the saber still have not changed their stance as far as the surgery goes, Uh, He was Kevin Adams has asked twice point blank if he has spoken with Michael. He didn't He just danced around it twice the second time, he did say That he had spoken, had a long conversation with pickles agent on Wednesday. So, but it doesn't you know, since he didn't really want to answer that question, it doesn't sound like that. He's had a conversation and Michael with I call in a while and If your plan is to trade him, you probably don't need to be talking to him to be quite honest with you. What are you gonna say to him? You know what would have already? You already had your conversations with him. And if your trade is the way to go, you're going to probably be talking through his agent. So what would the good conversation with an agent be in that spot? Because you're not getting through a no trade or no move. You're just Updating him on how things are going. Um, you know what? What's that conversation like Paul? Is it giving them more freedom to talk to other teams or talk to other teams? Doctors? Um It could be. You know, if you're going to make a trade, it's going to have to you would. I would think you're going to have to relent and let Iculs agent and doctors speak with the other team. They're going to want to be. Somewhat comforted too. All right, we're going to pay all this for Jack Aiko. We need to know what's going on. I think you know the trade. Whatever may be has to be further down the road, then maybe he is now Or maybe he is further down the road with the team. And has spoken to the agent and said to him, okay? You know, we're getting in the home stretch with team a And, uh, you know, we're going to let them talk to talk to you. You know, speaking to the agent, that type of thing, so I'm sure what what a good conversation being why they took so long as to update him on. You know where the trademark it is and what they're thinking. And you know, uh, to see. Maybe if the Eichel camp is willing to Relent on what they want, which I would say. Probably not. You know, it seems like both he both sides are very entrenched in their belief in what should happen, and it would be very surprising to me if one of those two sides changed. You probably answered my next question because I was thinking so the agent apparently to Associated Press, and the Athletics said they are headed toward a resolution Now I think most of us would look at that and go. Okay. That means that you know, a trade is coming. Is it? What? What are the possibilities? Paul that Adams has done all his calls. She's made all these efforts. He's gotten everybody's trade offers, and he doesn't think the right value is there and the resolution is Not to trade him at this point. I don't think he would make that decision now yet. I mean, you haven't even gotten to the draft. So, Yeah. I mean by. I mean by the draft by that Friday night, round one if we're using that as the first deadline marker by that night, what? What are the chances He could say? It's just not the right deal for us. He could, but I don't think that needs to be a deadline. Quite honestly, Next year's draft is quite a bit better than this year's draft. You just don't have the certainty of where you're going to be picking. Where you would have that in this draft. You could actually wind up better. You could wind up with a lottery pick if you if you go into next year's drafted And wind up better than what you might get in in this year's draft, But the certainty is there for this year's draft. But to me, it's not the end of the world just because you haven't made the trade by the draft. Um, there are other drafts and you know you can get first round picks in next year's draft and maybe wind up being better. You just have to wait and see. Mhm. All right, Mr Hamilton. So we think it will be well, barring a trade of one of the names that we've been talking about. We're quiet now until expansion draft list. No, I wouldn't say that. I mean, it could anything with with what this team needs to do. Something could happen this afternoon. I mean, you never never know. So no, I would never. I would not say in the least that things will be quiet. Uh, everything is just way too up in the air to know that we forgot to bring up. Maybe the Most not delicate, but one of the tougher predictions Paul Darlene's contract. He's do. I would think that would be a bridge Bridge two or 32 or three year deal. How much? Who knows? I mean, he just started playing like Rasmus Dahlin should be playing in the last X amount of games. What does that mean in the contract? Do the Sabres want to go try to get long term long and get years on it, knowing that all right? We think he's going to be better. We can maybe get a bargain here. If you're Darlene's agent, I don't think you allow that to happen. You know, I think you count on your player. You say Granados back and he's been doing pretty well. Why would I want to time and I'm doing that? Eight year deal right now, you know, I don't think his agent would want to do that. And and, you know, you guys like you know, Marner didn't give an eight year deal and he didn't want one type of thing. So I would think Darlene's side wouldn't want that. So, Yeah, I think you're looking at maybe a 23 year deal, but for a money standpoint, I don't know. I I I don't know if I don't want to guess that right now. Okay, well, and we'll let you go. And, uh, you get back to us on the money standpoint. Something like around way Howard makes you know we're we're at. Yeah, right. We're having an offer sheet discussion yesterday. You know about Kehlmann cars like the hot name in the offer sheet Rumor mill at this point. And you know if someone ever did throw an offer sheet at the Sabres on Darlene, Like, how far would you be willing to go? And it was it was really hard. I mean, I actually said Jeremy, I don't have an answer for it was. I know it wouldn't be You know you match anything, no matter what. I wouldn't just say blank. Check it and match it, But it's really hard to come up with. You know what is the right number or what is too far to go with Darlene at this point. Jeremy. Why do you torment yourself here with you, George? Offer sheets. You torment yourself so much with these And then And then the guy is always sent resign with their team and you get so upset. Maybe not be one this year. Why does the NHL not use their rules? The way they're ready to be wrote the used while we had one last year, Sebastian Aho. I know, but and that GM.

There's no offense is I am a wide open arms, wide, open type of guy, and I welcome you all in. Did you just hope that they were creed song at the Open the arms wide open? Uh, so anyway, there's a cheesy band I was I was ashamed to admit I loved Oh, go on, but Happy Canada Day riff. Happy Canada Day. Along with your favorite band of all time. Nickelback Nickelback. So well, let's not get into that because I watched some kind of monster. I've been listening to a lot of Metallica And if you just if you took Nickelback song, slap them on a metallic album, you wouldn't know the difference. That's the problem. It's just that their Canadian Happy Canada Day, everybody Cabs. Like I said, no one's really happy in Montreal. We will carry the Don Granato press conference at 11 o'clock and looking forward to hearing you know some of his answers. He's always been very good in his press conferences. His end of the year media address was fantastic. And Marty, We haven't had a chance to really chat with you since he was hired as he was hired on Tuesday. We talked about it yesterday. What was your initial thought before we get into some of the other stuff here, Sabre related when you heard the news? Were you surprised that it was don Granado? No, I was not surprised. I think we've all been, uh, an agreement that don Granado was going to be the next Sabres coach. Unless they were able to land maybe a jar gallant and somebody with a high profile like that, But I still thought that Don Granado was the leading candidate from the end of the season. When Granado got the interim job. We were like this is just to end the season and he really made it happened for himself. The way the team played the structure as to which the Sabres played with the way the younger players developed and playing much better and produced, Um it's not that the record was great. In the last 10 games, there were three and seven. The records weren't great. But these also didn't have Jack. I called in an F. Taylor Hall didn't have her exalted in Avellino soul Mark they didn't have didn't have a lot of players. Jake McCabe. Jake McCain didn't have a lot of players, but Who stepped up and you look better. Rasmus Dahlin, number one Rasmus Dahlin was 100 times better under Don Granado as numbers are not even comparable because It's two different players. Casey Middle Stat dates. Thompson Dylan cousin stayed the same, but also Dylan cousins, a 19 year old player while he turned 20. But still, uh, that just, you know, in his first year, so he's just out there to play. Jeff Skinner was better. Sam Reinhart was really, really good at center when nobody thought Sam could play center anymore, So there was so many great things. To look at Don Granado that to me and made it made perfect sense that he was gonna get a chance to continue on what he had worked on. All right. Well, we're going to hear from my thought. Rivers going to chime in there. Um, we're gonna hear from Don Granado at 11 John Vogel yesterday. The scouting staff likes all the guys from Michigan, so power will go first, and the Sabres will try to get another pick to take Matt Ben ears or can't Johnson now here's the other. Side of that last Lisovsky tweets sources Tell me the savers are higher on William Ackland than any other forward in this draft, so Where do you guys stand on this? Is this something that excites you? If the Sabres were to get back and grab another top 10 and take the Michigan Boys.

"And lie and that type of thing. So, Yeah, he's been impressive. He Wants to entertain fans He doesn't want to. He doesn't want to see boring hockey. And the thing is to buy a sometimes boring hockey isn't always winning hockey. Unless year the New York Islanders and you have a two goal lead. And I mean the New York Islanders. You know, that's when they shut it down is when they have a lead like that, but They don't always play like that. If it's a tie game, it's or there are there behind. You know they, you know they have guys that can play in in score and that type of thing. It's just, you know the way that Lou Lamoriello wants the game to be played, Uh, you know, once they have a lead, and that's the way Aloul Emerald team has always spent. Call the staff now. Okay, so he's got the job. I guess the two part question would be. Do you think he keeps both Matt Alice and Dan Girardi? Maybe the first part of the question should be. What did you think of what Alison Girardi brought to the staff. Are they worth keeping? I did. I thought they did a great job. And, um, from what I've been told any coach that came in here was told that Matt Alice would be on the staff. Um, in hockey that Happens. I don't know what I want to say. A lot happens more times than it doesn't where the GM has a guy on the staff that he wants, and then you know the the coaches. The rest of the staff, and I think Adams told coaches that you know Matt Ellis would be part of the staff. Don't think Granada would have any problem with that. Um, I I would be surprised if he made any any coaching moves. I thought Girardi was great, especially since he had never coached and He comes in and really helps Yoki who are you really helps Colleen Samuelson comes in and has a very seamless transition from the American Hockey League. Into the NHL. Bryson had his moments good and bad. Um, but, you know, I really liked the job Girardi did with those guys. So, um I would be surprised if he many, many moves on the coaching staff unless one of those two guys doesn't want to be in Buffalo for any reason, but Matt Ellis has always impressed me. I knew when he was a player that he was going to be a very good coach. He is very knowledgeable about the game. He has He One of the best worth work ethics You're ever going to see. And players enjoy working with them, and they they know that they're going to be worked hard, but they know they're going to learn something from him. So you mentioned Alice like they were saying, Hey, Alice is going to be on the staff. Specifically Girardi. Because when we talk about Granado, Paul, some of some of what we talk about is Hey, Rasmus. Dahlin, go to have the green light. Don't worry. Just go and yolk and yolk heart you to like their games bounced back, but also in a limited time because of injuries. How Borgen. Look, they were playing Bryson Samuelsson comes up. Maybe Ryan Johnson will be here at some point. Maybe they're drafting Owen power. How much do you you think Girardi played a role in terms of working with developing or making better? The young defenseman? Lot and I, it matters to players that You know he didn't retire 25 years ago. I mean, he was still playing in the league in 2019. So they know what he knows what he's talking about. He was just on the ice just like them. Some of them have played against him. So you know that matters when when they when they hear from him and what he has to say, I think your ears perk up with a player like that a little bit more. Then they they might if you got a guy who, Well, yeah, he played in the league. But last time he played was, uh, you know, before 2000 type of a thing, so I think it matters. I think it also helps him in this situation to the league is different than it was 20 years ago. So Girardi knows that again because he played in it. He knows the speed of the game. He knows how the game is played. Now, um and and I think that helps with his credibility out there, too. And You know it. It seems like you know, from what I heard of what at what Darlene talked about, plus From what I heard. He was just kind of soaking up the knowledge he wanted to hear from Girardi. He would ask questions. He wanted to know what he thought about things and you saw the results on the ice. Paul. One other thing in the discussion of where the Sabres go from here, we asked about staff roster. You know, we're spending the off season talking about waiting for Michael Trade. We've talked to you about Sam Reinhart and I, You know, it looks like he might be on the way out. Rasmus risk the line in Do you think the Granada higher has any impact on what? Ultimately, Adams does with the roster? Maybe those three guys specifically. No, no, I think he's going to try to get the best trade. He can You know, for, uh, for Michael and I've said all along If you don't get proper value, then you don't make the trade. I mean, you hang up the phone. You don't just take the best. Offer that comes and all right. Well, this isn't good value, but this is the best offer we got. So let's go type of a thing, so and then that has nothing to do with the coach. Um, again. I think he can integrate his coaching system into anybody. That's around. Uh, just just the philosophies that he has. So, um it's interesting. I mean, we We all do it. I've done it, You know? All right. What are they going to do with the expansion draft? Who they're going to protect? Well. That's still 17 days away. And the roster could look a lot different. You know when, when that rolls? It depends who's been traded. If anybody so you know, trying to figure out who's going to be protected, who's not as kind of a fool's game right now, because What? What? What? What You're trying to protect right now might be totally different in a couple of weeks. Yeah, You know it. It's in the discussion of the young guys tying in these two discussions, right? You know, the EFI calls traded of Reinhart's traded It opens up holes at center. Cousins will be there. We know that How confident would you be based on Granado and the improvements you saw in middle stat that he will be? I don't know. Is he the number two center right now? Right now. He is, um would be rather that I would rather that not be the case once October rolls around. That you know you've made, you know. All right, you've made your trades. And moving forward. I think You know again, the team itself. You know the team itself right now, even with Granado coaching it Well, if you don't if it's this team And you don't improve it..
