"He had tons of success last season with the Lakers. So what do you think Christian wood bringing him into a team like this with darvin ham is the coach LeBron AD? Are you worried about locker room issues? I'm not worried about it at all because I think sometimes a change of scenery does great. Sometimes going from a team like the Houston Rockets who's clearly in a rebuild mode trying to build their way back up full of young players and then going to a team like a Lakers who as we hope should be competing for a championship that sometimes that's all it takes, you know, to get a guy on the right path, being around a LeBron James, being around Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, a darvin ham, you know, a rasheed Wallace, you know, guys with stature. Guys with, you know, some forgetting the word right now. Guys, you know, with some stature in the league, you know, you know, respect around the league. Sometimes that's all it takes. So especially a guy like Christian wood, who's in the prime of his career, I'm sure who wants to win now, you know, go somewhere where he can be an important piece where I think he would be important with us too. Obviously not the one, two or three options, but he would be a very important piece of a stretch big, you know, a guy, especially with a guy like AD who were not sure if he's going to make it through the season at the time. He would be very important. So I'm not too worried about locker room issues. I think what we saw with darvin ham today, how he plans to again collaborate, communicate with all the players that we have this year. I'm not really too worried about chemistry wise as far as locker room issues. It's all about the on court part. So not work. And then moving, I'm in agreement with you with that. Being infuriated that you might lose THT and none because of Russ. That's me. That's me just saying for value perspective. I don't know if the Lakers shared that opinion, but I mean, they're not a great fit together. So if you do wind up keeping rust, which it's possible that the costume moving rust is just so high because teams around the NBA see the Lakers is desperate. They're going to try to take advantage of that. They're going to try to fleece the Lakers in a trade..

"To do with any of this. Somebody tweeted out the other day. Tyler Ford junior's TJ Ford junior's. Highlights from AAU game or something. And I'm like, no, we're not. TJ Ford can't have kids. Open enough to be like coming up. He was in the league, not that long ago. I mean, it's probably been a little while, but yeah, I can't do that. That stuff makes like I'm already, I feel old, pretty regularly. Almost every morning when I wake up in my back hurts, but no TJ Ford kid coming up and pushing in closer to the NBA. TJ Ford is 39 and hasn't played in the NBA in ten years. Yeah. He was done early because he had that possible. Like end of this career early, unfortunately. But yeah, just, I don't know. No more NBA players that like guy. I clearly remember being drafted. Like Shaq's kid, like they're talking about how Shaquille O'Neal's son is going to be in the draft this year. I don't know. No, no more of that. Please. Hold it up as it is. Yeah. All right. Speaking of former players here. Rasheed Wallace. To the Lakers? Maybe? Kind of? Yeah. Yes. And then maybe no because of context? Yeah. So let's be clear. Let's get into what happened a little bit here. There's a story that broke out of Memphis. Memphis reporter had interviewed interviewed penny Hardaway, who's the coach at Memphis. It was an assistant coach. We're Wallace was an assistant coach. And then to be clear, this is university of Memphis. And penny Hardaway basically said in that interview, yeah, where she's on his way to LA to join darvin ham staff. And then that got picked up and reported and then a very, very quickly refuted as being a done deal. But my guess is it's just a matter of getting there, getting things signed and agreed to. And gaba will have back in our lives on an NBA batch. I'm very curious to see what that looks like because this is a guy who was not very well known for controlling his temper. He is the direct reason we have a technical foul suspension. But no one tells you it was anybody different. It was 100% rasheed Wallace because he had like 40 sunk them one year where he absolutely went Berserk on everybody. I just want there to be like, I keep thinking Staples at a crypto dot com arena. In the arena,.

"A lot of options. Oh, who's the biggest deck? Biggest dick you ever should not have. Yeah, sorry, my bad. Raise that differently. Frank Robinson, by the way, the answer to that, yes. Frank Robinson? Huge. Really? He's sitting on a folding chair playing cards in the Orioles locker room and his thing was almost on the floor. You wonder why I was a 5 legged chair. I said, no. That's a Hall of Famer right there. There you go. This guy, jeez, it was scary. Anyway, Dave Winfield two. Amen. Who was the biggest dick? Of the people I ever had. Yeah. Billy Martin, no question. Really? Asshole. Why? Well, he had just gotten to him, he was just a mean ass drunk. He was a son of a bitch. He got in a fight with somebody the marshmallow guy, whatever it whitson hit some kind of brawl. And we covered the Yankees Red Sox at Yankee Stadium, and he was just coming off in fact, he had his lawyer with him in the locker room because he was afraid someone was going to ask him a question about that. And he was a prick, Billy Martin. So he had gone out in the third inning and demanded that oil can board remove the gold chains around his neck because it was distracting the Yankee hitters. Oil can't pitch three perfect innings. He goes out in the top of the fourth complaints about the chain around oil cans neck and then oil can just get pissed and blew up and you start walking guys. He was really angry about it. Shocking. Not the most stable human being from what I remember. So the Yankees win the game, so I have to the game I go to Billy, I say, okay, I said, I said you kind of yanked oil cans chain a little bit there. Didn't shoot in the fourth inning. He goes, I did not, because we won this game with our bats and he starts yelling at me. In front of everybody, you know, there's no camera. He's yelling at me. So I said to the camera guy, I go. Let's get the fuck out of here. I walked away after that one. 'cause I didn't want to deal with him. You know, he's an asshole. And then he slammed into that telephone pole, or tree, whatever on his way home, and I thought to myself, it worked. He was nasty. Who's the biggest asshole for you to deal with? You know what's funny? He was the this guy was the biggest asshole, and then I absolutely fell in love with him. He was a great guy, rasheed Wallace. And he was with the pistons. I'd be trying to do an interview inside the pistons locker room. And he'd be blaring rap music in every N word and F word. Blaring at the, you know, at 11 and he was just a jackass. He comes to the Celtics, couldn't have been nicer. He would bring beers on the plane because you weren't allowed to have beer on the plane with Danny ainge roll, but he'd have the ball boys give him a 6 pack of beer and it'd hand out beer on the plane. He was a great guy. He was a great guy. He went from being the biggest asshole to one of the nicest guys. I ever interviewed. I shouldn't be the nicest guy ever Ernie Banks. I'll never go away from that theory. He was a nicest man ever. And I talked about him at length with Ferguson Jenkins when he went out to dinner with Billy and Fergie Jenkins. He says, everybody feels the same way about Ernie Banks. Everybody. Isn't that nice? Every teammate, every media person, everybody that's ever met him. Loves Ernie Banks and to this day, you know, God rest his soul. I love Ernie Banks. I talked to him. Every night. I go, hey, I'm a 14. How's it going up there? He talks back. He says, oh, it's great. Sex in the morning, sex in the afternoon, sexy. I said, oh, that's what happens like that. I'm a jackrabbit in Arizona. Okay, so now I've watched I watched two imbeciles. I watched two okay, here's what I gotta be honest with you. So this freaked me out a little bit. What is it? I'm watching TV. And here's this guy. It's a commercial for eHarmony. And here's this guy making toast and putting peanut butter on the toast. He's all smiling. All of a sudden, someone comes bounding down the stairs and it's his lover. Oh. Another guy. Okay. And I thought to myself, when did eHarmony start doing ads for gay people? When the gay people started to complain. But will they complain about that the gay people weren't being represented? They go any harmony. They can find them, but you don't have to have a commercial about it. I think they always could, but they just weren't being represented. But do you need a commercial for that? Does it make you uncomfortable? The more you tell it, the more you sell it. Well, I just think if you're a kid growing up and you're trying to decide. Which turn you want to make here, isn't it, isn't it kind of weird to have, you know, again, I don't know how many people out of a hundred would be gay. What's the, does anybody know? Ten, 5, 7. 31. And someone's a good job. I'm just wondering if that's if it's going to be normal now because right after it was a big ad for if you have aids. Right after it. And I'm thinking there was a time when you watch TV and you never had to worry about trying to explain something like that. To your kid. But now you do, I guess, because it was a prime time. No, I just avoid it. What TV? No. Explaining stuff like that, I'm like, yeah. Anything that's controversial. I avoid it. Currently, 7.1% of U.S. adults identify as LGBT. Did you know that? Is that just a guess? It was a good guess. A little too good, I think. Somebody knows a little bit more than they're letting them. Where do you think the .1 comes from? All right, let's talk about problems in sports, because Greg Dickerson spent his whole life in the world of sports, basketball and sports talk radio and let's get some opinions from all of us on this. All right, go ahead. Let's start with baseball. The biggest problems in baseball. Right now, they're not playing. That's the biggest. That's the biggest problem, Mark, yeah. And they may not play for a while. And I've been through this before. The strike season in 94, they sent 95 neck and sent me down to cover them. And there was no one there. 81, 81 was a half, yeah, a little bit of a fraudulent situation. But they're doing it again. And I think it's a great thing. What do you think? Because the average salary for major league player is like, you know, $2 million a year or something. Yeah, but that's the average salary. You're going to look at what your 23rd guy 24th guy is making. Those guys are getting pork and the minor leaguers are getting pork, too. The thing that I love is they want to take away minor league jobs. Did you see the one thing? And I forget who it was. Did you see, I think it was with the Padres as a minor league with the Padres. And he showed his W two. You know how much he made last year? $11,000. $11,000. Did he get it? Did he get daily stipends for meals? Probably not. Probably includes it. In this day and age, you go to the grocery store, that's a lot of money. But the owners know against the players, here we go again. But I look around and I say, oh, this guy's making $30 million a year to pitch. Every 5 days, I could David price, for example. Yeah, but those guys are screwing up that curve. Those guys are making that average. So much higher. But the regulars, the guys that start on the team, their average salaries are all 10 million, 12 million. I mean, where's it end? We won't be happy till we get 50 million, are you? Yeah, but it's not them. Again, the majority of the guys out there are making a million half million, $400,000. Those are minor leaguers, though. Those are major leaguers. And think about it, if you're making a million bucks, 500,000, 400,000 after taxes. After aging fees? I'd like to know what that number really is, though, for the average, the average seller, even if you were in an entry level, you're on the team for the whole year, let's say. And you know, come up and down from Tripoli, but you run the team the whole year. What do you make? And how much do you need to make really 6 to 8 months worth of work? And if they pay for your food and their travel and your hotels and all that stuff, I don't know. He's still playing baseball. If you want to get better and make 10 million, you can do steroids. You know? It's the only way to get up to that scale. I'm just wondering, the minimum salary, what is this? Well, over $500,000. So that's.

"You're probably don't want to be here anymore. We're just going to wave you will eat the 2.7 million hit and off we go. Thanks for your years of service. Again, our year of service in this case. But yeah, that kind of tends to be the more likely path that happens. Comp for this is when rasheed Wallace retired from the Celtics. Now several years I got a longer ago than I even want to admit to thinking that that actually happened. But he retired, but then was he didn't officially retire, but it was I'm not going to play. And being a Celtics just waved him and ate the cap hit. The spurs did that on the last year. Tim Duncan with the idea there of being, hey, this is more of a bonus payment to you for everything you did for us as a franchise. So my guess is if it comes down to it, they'll just wave him, and they'll eat the 2.7 and off will go. So that's probably the way things go there. Obviously, they could explore a trade and see if maybe there was also, you know what? I want to stay in the NBA. I don't want to be here. Can you help me out and get me somewhere? I'm sure you could find maybe a landing spot or something like that could be worked out. But I think most likely if we do see a parting of the ways, and to me, the Deandre Jordan signing suggests that's what's coming next. I can't imagine them going into the season with three true, pure centers on the roster, where they can't play any other position. It's not like there are four or 5 combo three guys who can only play center and then plus you've got Anthony Davis in the mix. That would be a bit surprised if they went into the season with all three of those guys on the roster. So we'll have to wait and see what happens here with Marc Gasol and how the Lakers opt to handle this. But again, it does appear Deandre. Jordan by the way, the Lakers have a press conference. One hour from now, this moment right now as we're recording. And that is most likely to announce Deandre Jordan's arrival. One more thing on Marcus all real quick. Just so people are aware too because they signed him using the minimum exception last year, even though it was a two year contract, so he didn't count for the two year minimum. He got counted at the ten year minimum. He does qualify to be traded under the minimum exception trade rules, which essentially means any team that is not hard capped could trade for him for essentially nothing. They could send back a top 55 protected pick to the Lakers or draft rights to a player or just some minor thing there. So yeah, so that's where that one will probably go. If there is a trade, that's how he'll be acquired. So it just makes it a lot easier to move him via trade because the team doesn't need to take him into an exception or that despite the fact that he's at the 2.7 instead of the 1.7 million veteran minimum for this year about just a little cat mechanics there here on the front office show because that's what we do. And that's good to note too, for anybody who's thinking, oh, they could trade Mark salt, and maybe actually get something. They're not going to get something for them. The Lakers are going to get if they traded. It will be more of a situation, say, hey, where is it that you want to play?.

They got the this fucking guy just past the new voter restriction bill as if the abortions Bill wasn't bad enough this one. You know this is the one that's been hard fought against a lot of democrats member. They fled the state to prevent this from happening. And i just couldn't get done so you know cutting hours for early voting banning drive thru voting new. Id requirements for voting by mail. Fuck in partisan poll-watchers like just you know metal at a polling place essentially eat movement with the forget. I mean they can just like go. Walk over stand over your shoulder typically you can't you can't go inside a polling place and there's a very specific area that you could stand So i don't know just goon squads That are going to be out there And also requirements for people. If you're helping voters who need assistance like they're just doing everything they can to make voting even more difficult and further underlining why the filibuster needs just fucking vaporized and you start putting this stuff at at a federal level to begin enshrining these protections properly. But we'll see. They are changed the rules to make to give themselves better chance at maintaining power and the democrats again refusing to do that and so they're going to inevitably lose and that again like just more and more clear that the democrats benefit from the equilibrium being somewhere between them and republicans and the republicans still having like a claim to power and You know it gives them something to run on. Keeps the people who fund their campaigns happy because otherwise like if you just look at it like from a competition like game theory perspective it makes no sense that they wouldn't just abolish the filibuster because republicans are already like doing doing unprecedented shit. Like why and you're not gonna. You're like that. We can't do that now that that would make them mad. It's just right. dr fao. Chee the director of national institute for allergy and infectious diseases. You heard of this guy. I heard a about yeah. He says that hospitals in certain states are filling up with unvaccinated infected cove in nineteen patients which means doctors will soon have to make tough choices about. Who will get an icu bed. That's already happening Around the country And they're also growing concerns as the rate of children's covert nineteen hospitalizations is four times higher in areas with low vaccination. So right not not great. I feel like there's tendency. I'm seeing in where where people are. Just like th ouchi god shut up a hate that guy because he's just keeps giving like bad news with a smile on his face and people are just mad at reality. It's i don't know it's a gun We kind of touched on tomorrow's episode. But this is a thing that a lot of health professionals are saying like this are the health system is caving in. It's it's it's it's failing at the moment and it's not like the fact that doctors have to make tough choices. I get it that it's a there's a pandemic going on there's also a lot of like lack of infrastructural support and things like that that have created a really bad situation for people working in the front lines for.

"Are married and you're in a situation where i kind of feel like since you've cleaned up your act that it's almost this. Fresh slate are clean slate. I don't know how any of us could be with somebody else like. I'm i admire the person who can be cheated on in marriage and then go. Hey therapy were good now. We're in a good place. And i can forgive you and move on and never have the resentment because i don't know if that a one hundred percent clean slate exists in that situation like some of you. That are married. That you've screwed up. You got caught. You worked it out. Everything's good now. I've got imagine your wife still is like a little bit of five percent hate about it ten percent. You know unless there's some real new age of it's like hey man has desire and whatever. It's that's cool. I mean. I guess there's always there's always some kind of weird option out there so really i mean you can i. Obviously you're going to be annoyed because now you're finding out that your wife was talking to somebody else. You went through her phone She's clearly not comfortable telling you who it is even though you clearly know who it is now I'm minister like when you say my justified in being jealous you're gonna to be jealous. It doesn't matter if you're justified or not. You're not you admitted that you've done all these things wrong. But you're still going to feel this way because we don't we. Don't do that like you can do something terrible to your girlfriend. Your wife as far as cheating on her and what you'll do is you'll make all these excuses for maybe like why it's okay you know. I think we've been over that time before where it's kind of like i. Will you know we're not engaged like okay. Well we're not married okay. We haven't had a kid yet and then you just keep pushing it down further and further where it's like okay. This is fine like well. You know i was on the road. Or i You know we never really were official official an encounter coming up all these qualifiers in doing one thing and trying to make you feel better about what you know. Deep down the wrong decision. But you're irrationalism right where we do this with a lot of different things but In this case. You've you've probably thought like while i was on the road i was around these women and i did it and now she found out and so i came clean and we went to therapy. And everything's fine whereas you're probably going to look at this bill. This is worse. Because i know the guy and he lives in the town. If that's the case here and we went to therapy we cleared cleaned up everything. And now we're good to go and now she's doing this like you see you don't really have a right like you can be mad but you don't have a right to be mad so i would just you don't even sound like you're that upset about it. I think you're more mad about the guy seriously. I feel like you're kind of looking at the idea of being disrespected and You know i would focus on the kid. I would get out of there soon. I don't know why would you stay another month Because if you're gonna be around the kid there could be some blow ups and arguing in front of kids sucks so i would I move on. I mean you can feel however you wanna feel but i think it's a little bit more removed for it. You kind of have to realize you kind of get what you deserve your on this one. Where as a child of divorce. I would say like yet. Make dad's house cool like get a clean break and like you know just trying to co parent as like normally as you can try to be a team even though you're totally fucking not team anymore. Yeah i just i'm not. I mean you know. This is where people have a problem with this portion of podcast. And they're like you're not married and you don't have a kid all right. But i also know what it's like to grow up in a situation where the pairing part of it isn't super stable and everybody you know a lot of people like that. I didn't think that's what the guy saying like. Hey should i stay together for the kid. I think he's just saying should be worrying about my finances and my son and finalizing everything i mean. What are the options here. Worry about your son. And finalizing the deals or worry about some guy that your wife is with and use around on her. Like why i can tell you right now. It's a pretty when you say it out loud. It's a pretty easy decision to make. I should just woke my kid right now. And and the cool thing about seriously like this'll have once you. It's super easy for any of us to sit here and tell the other person like hey just stop worrying about it. You're not gonna stop worrying about it. You're gonna have a moment. You're driving the car and you're gonna get really mad and you're going to get pissed like maybe i should say something. I don't know why you want to confront the other guy. You know unless your friends or something alicia like. Hey this guy's completely like this is completely out a line. I don't know. I mean you didn't include that part of it but When you can have something else to distract you from something. That's when i think is you know that's always like whenever i remember when i was in trenton again two thousand two worst year bunch of different reasons. I was really really upset when i got to be on the air for three hours. Call a baseball game. It was the best. Because i kind of had the distraction so i think what you need to do ears is all the things that you're thinking about your wife in the failed marriage in the part that you should feel guilty about the other part that maybe you don't want to feel guilty about. I think you go on all right cool right now. My focus is my kid. Get him through this. Getting him through the transition and being the best that i can be and move on from this because i deserve some of this maybe i.

"Know can't want me some would say it's odd that you went there. I i think it's pretty natural that the first thing he's out of his okay if my wife is talking to another guy would he beat me up. Could i be him up. It's the first thing i would think of. And i'm just going to admit it The concerning partners conversations has been deleted. I tried to feel her out the other day. Saying like hey. Is there anyone else that picture. And if so it's cool she said no. Do you think i'm justified feeling jealous. Should i reach out to the other guy. Me and the soon to be ex wife have mutually agreed to physically separate by july first. So he can get our finances. Some other things worked out. Should i just not worry about anything other than my son. And finalizing the details and everything. Do you think. I should leave as early as i can. Thanks do you think. Ps minute ps can kyle and surrey. Three hundred bench combined I don't think so. Yeah okay no. That's that's actually insulting like one of us on each side like a big ben now. One like two arms queen size bench to arms on each side by side. Yeah i think we think will that actually is way harder than what he's proposing. I'm just saying like if kyle can do one eighty five than all. Steve has to do. One fifteen yeah. I i want fifteen. That might be pushing it but when i think have you got by the way. Have you ever blake. Wh- have you ever tried. I don't. I'm not a bench guy. sign. I don't fit in a town here. But i think is kyle bench guy refi. Once i'd i reluctantly do bench. I had like shoulder. Separations ac separate. They're called so that like really fucking hurts and risk baresi myself but i do it because it's a jam thing when i go so good at it so i don't wanna embarrass myself i. I've never tried bunches. Yeah as always self-conscious 'cause i knew you know if i wasn't putting up one thirty five i didn't want people looking at me being like. Are you serious. Like what are we doing right now. Hey look i get it man. I mean if you can't do. When i was in high school and i couldn't do one thirty five in. You're putting on twenty five and you're just going like like what you get a car axle back there were you know i. I totally look man but we.

You know you're you gotta make sure you perform jerry your wait so then that way. The project in office known go smooth so you know we always try to time. Life lessons into basketball and man is just great. I'm blessed got a bunch of kids. That are great kids and who are hungry and wanna go to that next level. I am always dumb. I guess i should say disappointed when you'll hear about stories or you talk to somebody younger Will be like why didn't even know. This was an option. I didn't even know that this is how this was done. How much of that is. Is you reach out to people in in sharing your story and then you know realizing like okay. So maybe you're not going to north carolina but like there's there's real opportunities out here you just need them push push in the right direction. I mean how often does that happen where you can just see. The light go often a young person once they realize that maybe there are more opportunities out there for them than they realized. They became bitching acclaim. Because everyone wants to go doin. Everybody wanted to go to duke or kentucky or carolina or might wanna go. Hi joe. it's not it's not going to happen. it's not going. "Yeah. We got the guaranteed and it didn't happen. happened that series Though young fellow one on a tirade in the fourth quarter that i think what was he put twenty seven or something like that thirty or some some astronomical number that in the fourth quarter and overtime right. Yeah yes that no no other. All-stars has done on that fort lynch. I mean excuse me on that. Detroit team Yemen he was. He was hitting shots that we didn't think he could hit And he got to the whole so it became more of a of a process. Like look all right. We still gotta stick with it. We will have to be you know. At the time it was other guys that was hitting all of these big shot so it was uh strana force lebron big shots and he hit him because i think that was the series when he kicked it to the corner right to to danielle and people were like giving him grief about it and which is ridiculous because you look at this and the way he sees the game. I mean. that's the decision you have to make. Did you though at that you know. He's only like four years into his career. he's incredible it's still. I think one of the greatest player performances in it doesn't count because it didn't lead to a ring gets the spurs stuff. But but that was like his coming out party did. Did you have a sense of who he was. Did it change at all after that series. Anything like that because there were people still look until you've done it. People doubt you and people think he was a little apprehensive. And all that stuff kind of where were you out. Lebron what did that series due to kind of how you felt about swell i mean it was. We always better. As he's he's a good player you know he's he's a good young players in the nba and we've always looked at as it wasn't no disrespect to the point of. He can't play this and that you know when at times when we leave him. Open shots His shot has gotten better. His handle has gotten better from the times. When i was in nba. When i came in so He's definitely matured his game in that fashion and It was it was a it was a hell of a ride. You know that made that that battle interesting from that point on with detroit and cleveland. Yeah no it definitely did. And it's rare that someone can have a moment because it was it was against you guys. I mean he has ran the east there for a really long stretch. All right so you end up having a deal boston. Two thousand and eight and then later. Did you get along with keiji when you weren't teammates with him Katie was cool Up into up until boston never really hung out with them. Too much outside all star games. But that's when we always beat up but no. I never never had no beef with them. It was one of the younger players. That i respect it Because he's versatile and you know i i see him and i told him this myself. I m as a mirror image of myself. Except i'm a better shooter. And he's a better rebound but we're both hellacious defenders. I've had a theory about you And obviously this is the first time i've ever talked. And it's called my reshi walsh theory and named it after you because i think a lot of especially like mean or get paid for our opinions we talk we talk and talk like you have always been a player that people like incredible shooter. Karl defender the perimeter skills for big but he should have been better and then. I'm like if i'm rashid. And i got a ring. And i made one hundred and sixty million while the fucking listening to you. So that's my rasheed. Wallace theory like okay. I'm supposed to be better. And do i need to run the resume over again because if i were you and i would hear people say like how you should have been better i would drop those two stats on somebody like thanks man. Thanks for your input I'm sure you've heard it though. Like how do you respond to people. Saying like is great as you were. You should been a better player. I you know. I'm not taking that in a negative way because i'm more of a team player I feel as though that y'all got my numbers. And even even when i was playing in portland team that we had i was averaging like maybe fifteen sixteen point some crazy like that but i could have i could average the twenty and twenty five and like tim duncan in other power fours plane a era but i was more team. I would rather sacrifice those four six eight points for my teammates to get them so now. That's making us better. Anna stolen more confidence in him so when we are in that doghouse yo. I know i'm good with you. I know that. I can channel you if i get double. I can count on you. Do not get shot down. I can count on you to make this layup without no problem. But if you're that player not i'm taking shots and shots and shots and shots and i thought you want them. You might not be used to meet passing it to. You are court. You are far now. Your shot is all messed up. You know you might travel onto the whole so my thing is to get everyone involved because i.

You could have on a team. You know and i always thought the the crazy thing about your success was was greenwich. Look guys who can. I'll make shots. You ben. Wallace anchoring at defensively but there's just not many teams where like chauncey billups should get caught a switch and then defend a a post player and he was fine with it. That you guys talk about golden stay at their peak switching everything you know teams. It will try to switch everything. It can be advantaged. Sometimes it's disadvantage when you guys switched. It didn't matter and the like that's screws up. Everybody running all of your screens like all right. You think you've got us in a mismatch can garden when chauncey can guard a big so go ahead like that's what i thought was brilliant about your five near for sure. Everyone hung their hat on defense And you know at the time we were all supposed to be misfits in problem child but everyone hung their hat on defense and if we did switch it was either depending on a player we had a scheme or you know you just got caught up in the pit but other than that you know. We came from that era. That guard is gonna get over. If he's a good shooter he's gonna go under him and give him room to get under if he's the best shooter but you won't stay with your man. He's got a new podcast. Let's get technical with his former blazers. Teammate bonzi wells. Coming out every wednesday the first interview the season gonna be penny hardaway and Listen wherever you get. your podcasts. At is rasheed wallace with us here. So rashid i'm just a guy who grows up as a fan of the nba fan of college hoops. And then you know it's not working to business. And then i start to get to know some of the guys that played you know the time all years at espn. And i'd always ask about their favorite guys and you are brought up. And i did this legs. We had tim legler on recently. And i said are. Gimme your best rasheed wallace story. Everyone loves you as a teammate. Which i think if you'd ask people that didn't know they think that guy's probably tough to get along with you know when you're younger combative and all that stuff. What do you think it is about you and your personality. Because i'm sure you're aware of it and why you're so beloved by some of the guys who played with well first and foremost. Thanks for having me on this morning but to answer your question of is just. I'm i'm all balls out for for my teammates. You know my brothers out there. Is i feel as though when we're out there playing a game you know that warriors mentality so gotta make sure that everybody around me is in harmony. You know we can't have disgruntled guys and this and that so you know i never was wants to start up. A ruck is or you know. Try to continue a ruckus. Any type of teammates never gotten to know beef with any type of teammates from from high school. All the way up to the league so You know they wanna win bottom line so you know that if if you can trust someone that you're in a fight where you don't have to look to your left that mean you trust me wholeheartedly. And you know that's the same type of feeling that i try to get back to my teammates. Who's your favorite team are man. I i had quite a few over the years man My rookie season it was. It was a man by mccann at the time. He was a A veteran powerful forward have been through the cba in and out of the nba but He helped show me to rooks of as far as with to look for in these coaches. That okay you love this this basketball thing now but is ultimately you'll see as a business and so he just gave me pretty much a lot of life lessons so always thank them for that and that was always You know one of my team as damon. Stoudamire bonzi wells Walt williams j rider chauncey. You know been a play with a lotta great guys man and a lot of misunderstood guy so i guess we all same but yeah because i think would would it. Would it surprise you frustrate you when when people who were close to you it'd be like why they because when people get to know you they're like oh you know what i mean like like i don't know about rashid and then it's like. Oh now i now. He's in our circle. And the whole thing like did ever frustrate you at all. Because i think the perception of you is very different from the realities of guy. Well no not really didn't long as long teammates knew who i was lungs. They knew again. Like i said. I got your back when we out there net foxhole. So playing with them okay. Cool now when. I'm playing against other guys before. Some of might have became teammate. Some of them might not have like. Because i'm not trying to be damned. You know i'm out there to win this game. That's my job to win this game. So by any means that's not not when she don't go blows that like that by any means necessary. We're gonna win this game. So when i got traded to different teams in this in practicing you know we just sit down and bar i dare. You are cool. You know not to ask away by. Seiji was was there a time. Was there one player particular once you got traded where you had to have that conversation No i mean what everyone pretty much expressed it to me. Especially when i got to detroit You know her story. Yeah so so. I i guess to detroit and after being traded from atlanta one from portland to atlanta from atlanta to detroit. So you know. I'm at the press conference and everything and a couple of guys are there so you know it's i in the back we talking and you know when you play against guys you know one way but when you're there teammate. Your normal another way because now. It's a chance that bill become your friend selena. I've i've made a lotta friends as playing against them over the years but never hung out so no had a chance. For first time the hang out with big is in detroit after probably about a month or so of playing together and ben was like man. He said he's a yeah. You seem to be real.

"Consistently throughout my entire career. Incredibly underwhelmed by what adjustments actually are we long on the podcast in football season. And i was like. Hey maybe finally. I'll get to the bottom of this adjustments thing because how many times you've seen a football presser like admitted judgment minute adjustment. They may better adjustments. All these different adjustments you like. What were the fucking adjustments though. Is it okay. Can you give me a specific adjustment. Can you tell me one thing. One thing that you did differently than i can understand. So i'll understand the outcome a little bit better and it's just it's so consistently vague in non informative. It actually shocks me. And i asked her long go. Hey what are you guys do when you go in the remake halftime adjustments like. What are you guys do. And he's like honestly do almost all the adjustments are the back end. Is it gonna really know what they do. Back there all secondary stuff. I was like okay. We're getting there. Were making some progress. Look it's it's just worth reminding yourself because all these individual players have these phenomenal performances. You may have a moment. You're going to hear someone say but you have a mon. Why is this guy doing this. The double teams are there. They're actually happening to just not really working. We can talk about concepts. Utah has a concept defensively against john barren and it worked there also better. That's the concept The celtics could have a concept. The best adjustment for them is to just sit back and enjoy the beating and watch greatness. I'm kidding but there was like you know. I could do an hour on the celtics but i did it yesterday. With and stevens. I could also do ten seconds. They're not healthy lot and they don't have a top ten player and of story there. You go but next time you hear somebody saying oh you do a little list. You've got to do a little that it's it's cool. I'm all for trying stuff but trying something different doesn't always mean. It's a different outcome..

"Slighter frame is rewarded. It just hits so but thoughts. That two huge guys. Defending trays is gonna shut it. All down he earned understands the foul game as well as anyone in the league. He's gonna find a way to foul so even if you double him. Because the knicks were capable of having somebody stay in front of him and i don't know if that's quickly i don't know if they should have played quickly more. You can sit there and say all. They should have done this. I should've done that. There's not as good. Knicks just weren't as good and trae young. Figure it out whether you double them and if it were single he was going to find a way to get to the hoop and if it's not a floater. Lop game over all right. Let's look at the double overtime game of portland and denver dame. What do you do. Okay before i get to that off. Dame's fifty five point game on only twenty four shots double-overtime that's only with ten free throw attempts so it was like he was the free throw line all night long. The trailblazers tried single coverage on yokich for game. One it kinda worked right. Hey they won the game. It must work his assist numbers. Yokich is had to weird bad assist games in this series and then after game two. You're like okay. They figured it out. Yokich is good to go. He knows what they're doing. This game has gone back and forth every single time and even after portland one game. Four and blow out. They were the betting favourite. So then we go back to denver. We've got a double overtime game. And guess what happens. The whole lake single covered thing with yokich. That seems so brilliant game one it was doubles. It was double teams against showcase the whole time. Because they're thinking like maybe we go back to just trying to shut him down. The problem is as we saw with that. Incredible past michael porter. Jr. in the corner it was a half fast. Double which is what's happening with portland lot and the other problem is nurkic is fouled out three to five games. So far is i so far when you look at the plus minus for use of on the court off the court portland's far better with him on but it also is countering the fact that they've gotta run kanter out there for a few minutes which is a disaster or covington or mellow who gets caught with yokich at times. But what did they do. They're like all right. Yokich is out of control here. I joked i don't think he made a bad decision for an hour of real time sitting there watching that game as deems going nuclear. Don't worry we'll get to him but with yokich you're watching him make every perfect read and then he waited for this kind of weak double which doesn't really matter because he's still going to make the right past floats over covington into the quarter. One thirty three left. Puerto junior hits the three one forty three one forty now. When are you going to get to the doubling of dame lillard. Here's where the double makes sense. These sell out. I don't care if somebody has a layup and in this case they needed a three. Because if you go to the end of regulation where it's three point. Seven left portland has the basketball. They're down three. Only a three can hurt you. Mike malone apparently never wanted a foul. Which i don't entirely blame him for because i think dame clever enough that he's going to read you away where he's going to anticipate your foul or meaning keeping it on the floor and then he's gonna find a way to get the shot off and then you really really stupid I also think no one has done this yet. I would do this if i were a coach. Have to players scream and yell towards the guy with the ball in his hands and yell foul and you're running towards him to foul him. Just stop yourself. Don't touch him because the offensive player probably spasm and then think he's going to initiate contact anticipating your movement but if you stop and he doesn't see it coming he may just get off this awkward terrible shot flailing because he was going to try to get the foul go ahead feel free to steal it from me if you want to go ahead and do it that time. Three point seven left. That's the sellout double where it's not about concept. It's not about game flow. It's not about all these different things. It's about straight up. Hey we're going to double team you because we don't want you taking that shot the part with malone you go. That's not just an adjustment. That one seems fairly obvious. Although i don't really blame him for not wanting to double d in the entire time. Because we're still talking about other very capable shooters out on the floor especially when portland is small the other weird negative thing though about dame going like that for that long and hitting all those shots because it was one of those absurd historic playoff moments. I mean it is going to be one of those things. Where i'm not gonna forget where i was. Even though it was a game Game five round one it kind of shuts everybody else off. The faucet goes off offensively for all the other players because they're just sitting there watching this guy put together one of the all time runs of three point shooting. We've ever seen So i think sometimes in those guys get the ball. Hey man. I've been just watching you. Throw flame throwers for about twenty minutes here. So i'm sorry that i'm not super locked in and we had a big mccollum in that game as well so to finish it all off when you hear people talk about adjustments because i think we want to believe that they're they're right. I think that's kind of how we are in life that whenever we see a result we wanna think of we had just done this differently than we would have had a completely different result at the end. I don't think that's really the case at least when it comes to double teaming and basketball because it's been exposed so many times once team's actually do it I'd also just i. Sometimes i deferred the guys that are working in the nba. That i don't think they're all just really bad at their job and stupid but it is a human nature thing because if something's going on I think after the fact once we see the result we love suggesting that there was some other option. That would change the result. I think we do like doing that. And i also think we like to be involved in the conversation. And i'm not even talking about the guy sitting at a desk and a post game or somebody in front of a microphone like today. This happens like how often do you hear a conversation about a topic. You're not comfortable with and say. Hey you know what. I'm just going to lay out on a really have any opinions. I'm just going to lay out list. You guys because. I'm not educated enough on the topic and that's what always comes back to whenever i hear guide me like they need to make more adjustments adjustments..

It's just like all right. Whatever you know. everyone knows. It's like a star power to get a star call with blake griffin. Had a player who could go up there his head back aggressively and all of a sudden up foul free throws and allow them to like actually have some is to look at them especially when the pistons were kind of trending downward a little bit. The time and yellow has contract is huge. And a little bit. You know worrisome. He played while if the win some games. I remember specifically i went to a game. Our scored fifty s yeah. He scored fifty late. In the game to beat the toronto raptors had player drove to the rim got fouled threw the ball over his shoulder off the remnant and like the entire statement crazy. It was like wow we actually have a guy you can do stuff like this consistently and now as kind of near the end of like athletic area like he was unable to jump over dunk but he's still able to get to the hoop it was before he started really shooting. Jump shots all the time. It trended to the point. Now where like he. His legs are not able to like. Make him a gifted athlete. He was so now he shooting jump. Shots has jumped. I was great when you thought he might go. Buy you a dunk on you. Now that he can't do that if you just sag awesome he'll shoot nine three pointers a game and he will hit maybe one of them which helps nobody except the opposing team. That's that's true. Well it's going to be interesting to watch and see how long it takes for them because that trade line. It's still more than a month away. But there's a lot in between there. And i think you make a lot of good points. Let's switch gears. College basketball michigan stays at number three in the men's college poll. This is actually part of something that has never happened to the big ten. You have three big ten teams in the top five. You've got michigan at number. Three as i said ohio state number four in illinois number five. That is something that's You know the big ten is starting to make a real impact. And you know i'll be honest.
