"Dimitri Sodas thank you very much for being with us tonight it is perhaps the most successful TV spin -off of all time baby I hear the blues are calling tossed and scrambled egg versus the beloved sitcom Frasier ran on NBC for 11 seasons he up picked almost 40 Emmy Awards now after 19 years away Kelsey Grammer is back on Paramount Plus as dr. Frasier crane but this time he's without the dynamic supporting cast that made that cheer spin -off so Vulture critic Jen Cheney joined WTOP's Mark Lewis earlier with a review of the new Frasier I don't think I'm gonna be super favorable but I will start with the good I guess which is a Kelsey Grammer you know slides back into the role of Frasier with great ease he picks up on all the nuances and the intellectual pretentiousness of that character as if he never left it so that's good but everybody in the supporting cast is really not with us there may be some like cameo appearances later on in the series but these are all new characters and it just takes a while to adjust to who these people are the first two episodes are Paramount on Plus and I think it's gonna take a while for it to kind of find its rhythm. That's what I'm wondering is there a possibility that if given time that this cast can gel and become the finely tuned machine of the old Frasier. I mean it's possible with a sitcom it does take time for that to happen but will I say they're very clearly trying to recreate the dynamics like a lot of the new shows about Frasier's relationship with his son Freddy who's a firefighter and they don't see eye -to -eye so it's really trying to recreate the working -class versus intellectual dynamic that existed between Frasier and his dad. So it feels a little like forced at initially least but I liked Frasier the original enough to give this a chance and see where it's going. Alright we'll keep our fingers crossed for that one. Meantime on Apple TV plus we're taken back to the 1960s it's an eight -part series called Lessons in Chemistry. What's this about? So this is based on a really really popular novel by Bonnie Garmis about a woman who is very scientifically gifted. works She in a chemistry lab but because she's a woman in the 60s she really doesn't have much opportunity to advance and eventually she ends up applying her chemistry knowledge to a cooking show that becomes very successful. so Like many shows on Apple they've clearly invested in this. It looks great. The costumes, the period, details are all right and Brie Larson is terrific in the lead role. It is sort of interesting how they've adapted it because it's very faithful book to the but then they add in some new things that are totally different and I feel like they're trying to do a little bit too much within the framework of a limited series but it is certainly entertaining. There is a solid backup in that general area checking to see if this is because between Washington Boulevard and West Portland St. delays easing from Sickenmore St. The accident shuts down Clayburn Parkway northbound between Ashburn Farm Parkway and Wayside Circle. The crash Crossroads at Drive in Loudoun County. The accident northbound 270 at Middlebrook Road moved over to Parr the far Right Shoulder and in the district beware of the First Amendment activity at Franklin Park. That is shutting down K Street 14th between Street Northwest and 13th Street. The gas main repair shuts down both directions of 16th Street Northwest between Lamont Circle and Park Road and they say this could be closed overnight. That is shutting the gas main.

North of I 95 start seeing more volume as you leave route three and Fredericksburg headed toward the rappahannock river, but travel lanes are reported to be open and available there. With all that said, quiet ride so far as you make your way out of Frederick. But again, single right gets by. There's no reported delays as you make your way past, past garrisonville, or past fellow with where we have work zones blocking the right lane in each case, but doing so very quietly. Capitol beltway, interloop work after Arlington boulevard two left lanes getting by that ITER and outer loop between the GW Parkway and Georgetown pike and two right lanes get by there. 66, the ramp, eastbound to the interloop of the capitol beltway still blocked by work and Virginia state authorities say the ramp to the from westbound 66 to the outer loop. He is still blocked. I have reason to suspect that, but no camera evidence to contravene it. It appears from the interleukin trying to read the tea leaves here. 66 if it's going to be the ramp of the inner loop, I make your part of the ramp to the inner loop. Now blocked for the overnight work. On the rest of the Virginia roadways moving again through our work zone 95 northbound after Fredericksburg, heading across the rappahannock river single file to the right we've had two stoppages here already, can not rule out additional ones. 95 sound pound after quad a coat, again, up to garrison villa, right lane block, but no fuss, no muss getting past it. On the capitol beltway outer loop and inner loop between the GW Parkway and Georgetown pike two right lanes are getting you by and then on the interloop additionally between route 50 and I 66. You're going to find two left lanes getting past work, Maryland, 95 is quiet, BW Parkway, not so much. It was some work southbound after NASA Goddard and the right lane was getting by.
