Arizona reports a high 1,753 new COVID-19 cases as health department includes antigen diagnostic tests

"Virus in Arizona, a big jump in Arizona's Corona virus cases today 1753 new cases. 38 new deaths. The state reports more than 23,000 diagnostic tests, which include Auntie Gin tests from months ago. How many of today's Corona virus cases are from the new androgen test? A little bit under 600? And that's nearly a third of today's case is state health director Keira Crist explains why the state is now adding anti Jin test to the total diagnostic test results. These are new tests that were recently approved by the FDA. They're very similar to the rapid flu or the rapid strep test that you might get in a doctor's office. We have added that to our case definition as a probable cases expect higher case counts for the next several days.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow calls Great Lakes rapid warming incredibly alarming

"As the climate warms, the Great Lakes are heating up. The Great Lakes are warming faster than the oceans and Lake Superior, which is the largest deep us. Great. Lake is one of the five fastest warming lakes in the world incredibly alarming to me and to everyone paying attention to this. That Democratic Senator Debbie Stab Nov Michigan. She says the rapid warming poses risks to her State's economy and way of life. It threatens fish such as Walleye and trout, and it can lead to more harmful Algal blooms. We have about twenty two, billion dollar tourism industry that is very much based on the lakes on voting on swimming and fishing and fact one out of five jobs in Michigan is connected in some way to the water. So it's a very serious and rising temperatures are not the only threat. Storms are getting more intense and causing more severe flooding and erosion in lakeshore communities. We have boat docks and things that are being destroyed because of the wider levels. So she says the climate crisis is already affecting Michigan and to minimize the impacts, it's important to invest in cleaner more energy efficient future.

Los Angeles - Nothing Preventing USC, Pac-12 Teams From Playing This Season, Gov Newsom

"A very weird day when it comes to PAC twelve football future of it got earlier this morning, the big ten announced they're coming back. They're coming back on October twenty third they they're confident that with their testing and the way that college football has kind of gone over the past couple of weeks at other schools that they can safely bring kids back now you and I both gone on record saying, we don't think it's the smartest thing in the world to play college football. So I'm not saying that I want college football to come back I don't. US He really wants to play their players. All wrote a letter to Gavin Newsom but here's why I'm bringing this up the big ten and outs were coming back Larry Scott the commissioner of the pack twelve immediately she's a statement that says because of the governor's guidelines we are not allowed to practice in the state of California which means USC Ucla Stanford and cal all would be unable to practice about an hour later Gavin newsom the governor California was doing a press conference and he was asked is that true that you won't allow those teams to practice? Here's part of what newsome hadn't his answer quote. I WanNa make this crystal clear. Nothing in the state guidelines denied the ability for the PAC twelve to resume quite to the contrary. This has been a misrepresentation of the facts and quote. What is Larry Scott and the PAC twelve referencing when they say. They can't play because of NEWSOM and NEWSOM says, it's not true who's telling the truth here newsome. Governor ain't Lion Larry Scott I. I've never been a fan of I think he could screw up a ham sandwich. But I but I do think that newsome is telling the truth and I think we're at the point John Now with the big ten resuming along with the SEC in the big twelve and the ACC, I think it is time for the PAC twelve to seriously consider resume or starting the season starting it earlier. They've got access to this rapid testing program. They're able to test players in in very short order really quick tests. I don't see any reason why the PAC twelve shouldn't be playing right now the. Monroe. Saint Brown Graham Harrell Bunch of USC. People have tweeted this letter out basically to goose to newsom saying, please let us play and newsom saying, no, you're you're allowed to play. It's it's up to your it's up to your athletic directors. It's up to your chancellor's I. Think it's time to have a vote among twelve PAC twelve schools and get a season started.

Big Ten football to resume weekend of Oct. 24

"We have major breaking news into our newsroom, and this is what we have been waiting for all morning long involved that man and that man and this conference do we have heather standing by guys lipset her break the news because it's her story let's bring heather and Paul into it. Go ahead heather the floor is yours. What is the news this morning? Komo morning sources have confirmed that the big ten is expected to announce this morning that football is back. The date is still in the air. I'm not sure if it's going to be October seventeenth or October twenty fourth but greedy I can't confirm the big ten football is coming back. Big. Ten football coming back in October for those who are just joining us had their catch everyone up on how we got here on August eleven. They announced that they will not play and they were talking about a spring season. Here we are about a month later how did we get from there to here? while. There is certainly political and public pressure but the president's the fourteen presidents and Chancellors said they would not be swayed by that the bigger topic I. Think we will hear a lot about today is going to be the changes in the medical information remember Michigan Michigan State you're talking about an epidemiologist and in infectious disease expert, right? So the medical information had to. Be buttoned up and change in order for this decision to be made I know that over the weekend they were presented with at least four new antigen tests for daily rapid testing results and also helping them with the contact tracing I. Think the question is and also going back to that date October seventeenth or twenty four. How quickly can they actually procure those tests it? Took the PAC twelve a while to get them on each campus so that could be part of the equation. There are still a lot of questions answered but Greenie to me that is is the number one is the differences in the medical information helps sway the president's the number. One question that most fans will have is, can they get a representative season in in time? To compete with the SEC and the big twelve and the ACC and try to get into the College Football playoff I literally just pulled out my calendar. If they start on October seventeenth, it's ten weeks until the College Football playoff selection special, which is set for December twenty. What is the plan as far as you know it about what they will do for a season? Well haven't confirmed the exact plan to be honest but sources have said that they would like an eight game season eight or nine game season with a conference championship game being on December nineteenth as you said to sneak it in. December twentieth selection, day, and I can tell you that if the big ten is going to be allowed back in the College Football playoff all ten s BS commissioners and Notre Dame Athletic Director Jacks Warwick would make that decision. My Gut says, yes of course they would let them in. But at the same time, you have to remember that not everybody's playing right and it's a shorter season for them to continue. So maybe it's a little bit of discussion difficult conversation but I do think at the end those commissioners will let them participate in the College Football playoff. The question is, can Ohio State Win it?

Your Biggest Hair Dilemmas, Solved With Herbal Essences Spokesperson Bridget Brager

"Yeah. So well, it is the fall now bridget and I feel like our facebook chat room like when we were talking about hair to some of our listeners in there there was a lot of discussion just about like resetting for fall and there was a lot of questions about like these common like dilemmas that we kind of are faced with when we finally take our hair out of. A top not in September and we're looking at her hair condition. So let's get started. We wanted to tackle some of those challenges with you today. So the first one is frizz which I think you know a lot of people can relate to and so first of all, why does it happen and then what is it about like certain hair types being more prone to Frizz than others? Heroines really for us as it becomes more damage and the more damaged hair becomes the more access lunch. So it really sucks up the moisture air the humanity, and that causes the hair shafts swell inching of stand on in and that's Frizz generap. FRIZZ. It's super important to us singer nourishing and moisturizing so that it acts as a barrier which mean he elements in your share mean my hair using residents it's and it's fine by color treatment hair less damage. But for for women with curly hair as their share begins to Pearl, the cuticle lists a little bit national thing happened. So they're from those with Philly hair owned friends. So it's all about really driving moisture into the hair own on keeping minutes. From. Okay. So we're GONNA talk about some hacks, but I like, what's a product that you're loving right now to reduce says I'm a firm believer that you using rations in commissioners is critical. It lays the foundation for your best hairstyle AWA- founder the red carpet fascination in that kind of where it starts in the shower. My absolute. Champion conditioner is the Herbal Essences Allah and Chin Selection. In sulfate free, Aloe is Subaru Charities Alice full of vitamins that by essential moisture is also super good for your scalp. We want to take into consideration how we treat our ourself just like we think about our skin face now it's at. Really interconnected and what about the the temperature of the water because I've heard that if it's hot like if it's too hot, that can bring on the phrase. Is kind of something I always recommend my clients before we are doing on the red carpet just do water minutes after conditioning your hair as cold as it can go right as you can get. The always do that in the salon I'm like, Whoa. The difference right especially after caller you know after you've gotten your done they don't WanNa fit hot water in because the molecule we'll just slip right out and they're doing we're doing everything close you. So that's the basically the number one takeaway here bridget that I'm hearing is like with Frizz it's all about creating that barrier. So that's why the shampoo and conditioner are so important because it's GonNa be closing that cuticle down so you don't get that moisture seeping and I, guess I'm a big Fan of these rapid dry hair towels now I don't know. If I'm using the right but I've heard an they often claim that they prevent for as you think that's the case I do. So the micro fiber towels or Subaru gentle in the way that our traditional cotton towels are not cotton it's six up right and it catches the hair and it can fool they won the hair and also handed can can kind of go right in between where you're cuticle doesn't notice it wants to slap opener lay down or with a minor fiber towel you can get in there with it. Super Gentle on the hair. And it really lays everything down nicely absorbed so much water today were I actually just. Photo unused micro fiber I'll sorry Mike each. My dog then he's little else and I need to try them clicking like why not this rabbit rabbit in as it was really funny but they work they are not again back is something I believe that you're going you WanNa take your regiments the next level as something that will Okay. Okay.

COVID-19 Transmission is Solvable

"I wanted to star. With a really dumb obvious question, which is, can you describe to me all the ways in which you can look for the presence of virus that you would be? Well, that's not an obvious question at all. Within each virus viruses just like. Any other thing they have a genetic code, and then they have a bunch of proteins and the genetic code of a virus is Arnie, which is akin to a human's DNA, and so the same way that you could do a forensic investigation of a crime scene and use DNA defined if there was a human specific human at the crime scene, you can do a forensic investigation to look for Ra to know if there was an inside of a person so. That's one way and that's this tool that these molecular tools that we call PCR, and then there's a different way instead of using the genetic makeup and the Arna to look for the virus. In this case, you could actually look for the proteins that make up the virus and that's where these antigen tests really shine. So you can either look for the genetic code or you could look for the proteins I like to call these rapid antigen tests, transmission indicating tests. There's one other major way which is a quickly and that's to. Look for the immunological response to the virus, because humans are good at making immune response to viruses. So it's a different way and that's antibody based detection but that's I put it in a whole different category because it usually comes after infection. Yeah. So the first way looking for the aren a is the kind of gold standard that's exactly right and so if I go to the hospital and get a today, get a Cova test, the looking for giving me the using to see if I have fires in my system that's right and what's the cheapest that a PC tests could produce result that actual price of tests can be done for about six bucks maybe. Even less so it can be really cheap, but the differences, the whole infrastructure around PCR test they have to be done in labs. So you have logistics of transport you have all of the people working in the lab robots and and so generally, it really drives the cost up and as we've seen the average test costs anywhere from thirty dollars at the absolute low end up to one hundred and fifty dollars for some labs that are charging in contrast be CR, two antigen tests. How do engine chess? What do they look like? What's their cost in time profile they? They look like a pregnancy test and they work like a pregnancy test actually they can be made. A little piece of paper generally speaking. You put some of the sample whether that be some swab that's been mixed with some saline solution or saliva onto a paper strip, and it shows up with a line turns either for example, red if it's positive or blue, it's negative and those can be made in the in huge numbers. They don't require instruments they don't usually require. There's a few on the market right now that to get the. Sensitivity at the FDA wanted they have some instrumentation associated but in reality, these are used for malaria strep for all these different infections they've been around for very long time and they can be done just on a piece of paper and five minutes and they could get down to you can produce them for fractions of a dollar and they might be sold to the public or built by the government for. A dollar apiece or something along those lines. So you're you've been a the perhaps the leading public proponent public health proponent of. Using Antigen, tests much more broadly to fight this. Derek and I wanted to the first time I. Heard you give this argument you convince me about two minutes. And I still don't understand why why don't we have this system because I can imagine a world where if it's this if they're cheaper easy, then you know every kid before they went to school in the morning. Would take one of these fifty cents or one dollar tests, and if they were positive, they would say home in their negative we would know that could go to school like. If, I want to go to a restaurant, why can't I just sat stand investable the restaurant take test and wait for my response and if I'M If I'm negative I get to go to the restaurant it just strikes me as. This is a way to get going again. Why are we not doing this? Can you explain that I can I have a few theories I. mean they're not just theories. They're they're. In the middle of this. So these tests because of this whole sensitivity issue early in March or really in January the world decided that was the gold standard for these tests and I don't think and I that this will maybe come. We'll come across wrong for some people but there hasn't been enough thought place into what exactly does the PR test mean, and is it the right gold standard? The only pathway that we have to evaluate tests like this in the United States are medical diagnostic pathways there pathways designed specifically to ensure that a physician like a detective is getting all of the information they need to diagnose a sick person in front of them so it's really been. First and foremost a regulatory hurdle we have so devalued and de funded public health across our country and really across the world. That we actually didn't, we don't have a regulatory pathway to approve test whose primary objective is is one of stopping an epidemic verses one of diagnosing sick person and that has really led. That's everything up all of the companies that could be producing these these really rapid tests in the millions and millions they have been sitting on these tests trying to hone them trying to get them just a little bit better just a little bit better so that the so that they can pass FDA standards as a medical diagnostic. It's not just slowing down their approval and getting them out to the public. It's actually bottle necking the company's into creating tests that are not going to be as scalable because they're having to use more expensive reagents they're starting to put them with instruments and package them more. They have to actually become more expensive, highly manufactured tests. When in reality, they're just these little pieces of paper. That if we can do the cheap version of they can be made very fast, but they just won't get through the FDA at the moment

Slow-moving Hurricane Sally takes aim at Gulf Coast

"The Gulf Coast is bracing for another hurricane. The National Hurricane Center says Sally, which was a tropical storm has strengthened into a Category one Hurricane Kelly has already been dumping rain on Florida and is likely to strengthen as it heads towards the Louisiana coast. And New Orleans. Joining us now is Jeff Hoffman, director and chief meteorologist at the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network. Jeff Where is Sally now? And what's its track and timing for land landfall? Good afternoon. Jeremy Sally is of course, as you mentioned now Hurricane it's about due south of Pensacola, and it's moving slowly to the West West Northwest and expected to continue strengthening it underwent a rapid intensification cycle this morning. Winds are now gusting well into Hurricane force is expected to potentially come close to a Category two before landfall. On that landfall track has shifted slightly to the East. Because this morning, Gerry the center reformed a bit to the east as well which that tends to happen sometimes when storms undergo rapid intensification landfalls now projected to be somewhere along the southeast coast of Louisiana, southern coast of Mississippi and Alabama sometime Tuesday afternoon to Tuesday night. Emphasis on the word slow. It's a very slow moving system, of course, which will enhance the potential for flooding. That's going to be the big story. I think with now Hurricane Sally well, and Louisiana's governor John Bell. Edwards has already declared a state of emergency for Louisiana, which is still dealing with the damage from Hurricane Laura that made landfall there just three weeks ago with 150 mile per hour winds. Some people still don't have power. Sounds like Sally is not going to be as bad as Laura. In terms of the widespread wind damage likely not that remember every hurricane or every tropical system, not just hurricanes are very unique, imposed their own hazards. This one is a slow moving system. It's goingto produce a prolonged period of life threatening storm surge. For pretty much from the mouth of the Mississippi River all the way over to maybe Pensacola and then because the storm is going to be in the vicinity of the northern Gulf Coast states for two, maybe three days, we're talking. Maybe Wednesday or Thursday before it pulls up into the southern appellations. Very heavy rain inland. Flooding freshwater flooding flash flooding. We're talking about a 2 to 3 Day event here that could produce rain totals in the order of 10 to 20 inches nearer and east of where the center tracks. I'm looking at the National Hurricane Center website right now, and there are 1234567 Systems out there. Not all of them have become even tropical storms yet, but this is a pretty busy season. Yeah. When it comes to records, Where do you begin? I mean, right now we have five tropical cyclones or named storms that is tied for the record a same time on were now only one name away from having to move into the Greek alphabet. Eyes to certainly what they call a hyperactive season and we have broken. I think I'm losing count, but somewhere over 13 or 14 records in terms of the earliest, a particular name storm forms The numbers keep falling that we've had a fairly weak systems Other than Laura and Sally is, of course, a significant threat to the northern Gulf Coast states. But for example, in Florida they've we've missed most of the storms in Florida on DH. There's still a potential we still several more weeks of the peak of hurricane season to go. It is Jeff Hoffman, director and chief meteorologist at the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network. As we keep an eye on Sally, which, as we said, is now a hurricane heading toward the Louisiana Coast, Jeff Thanks as always. All right. Thank you.

Self-Advocacy Through Storytelling with Katie Vigos, RN

"Welcome back to the moment everybody I am speaking with Katie Vigo's today she is a registered nurse and founder of the empowered birth project. I'm so excited to speak with you today we've had a few technical difficulties in hopefully those stay at bay now but yeah, welcome to the woman. I'm so glad we finally got you on. Thank you so much for having me. I'm excited for our conversation you work in Icu Poe right now correct yes. That's right. Critical Care is still my primary specialty the moment. Love that when did you know you want it to be a nurse led you to this field? I've always been interested in anatomy and physiology as a kid I found the human body to. Be. So fascinating and I was just drawn to those sciences and when I was a senior in high school my offered a free course to become certified as a CNA nursing assistant, and so I immediately saw Kinda, this golden opportunity to get certified to start working in this field that I'd always been interested in. So I took a class and then got my first job working in skilled nursing facility and I've pretty much never stopped. I love. That's the thing that's basically the road I talk to you like I. Well, I knew I wanted to be a nurse but like as soon as I could take that scene a course I did that a great way to get started. A it definitely will introduce you to to see if you can handle being around that much bodily fluid. That will particular job was like probably the most backbreaking Labor I've ever done in my life. Yeah. Yeah. All have only gone up hill from there their gotten better from there that was so hard. I was too young and inexperienced to even know any better I was just excited to be working in. You know getting started with my career yeah. One hundred percent I mean I started working on a med surge floor and I literally never been in more pain in my life than when I would come home from working. At. A shift there. I have so much respect for MED surge nurses. I S honestly think it's harder in many ways that what to do in critical care respect for floor nursing same same I ended up in the Nikki I've had enough of adults like I can't. I can't move them. No, it's. It's physically, very challenging. Mentally emotionally, spiritually challenging job it requires like our whole being so he has. Yes people. Yeah. What is life and free since the pandemic started with working still being in the ICU I it's you know it's been a roller coaster I at the time that Kobe really started to hit the United States where we went on lockdown here. In California, I was on a full time loan to cardiovascular is you which was a challenging assignment, but I took it because I wanted you know some fulltime work for a few months and I was just a few weeks instead assignment and starting to feel a little bit more comfortable, and because I was per diem and because all almost all elective non emergent surgeries completely stopped onus unindicted unit was way overstaffed and they're like, well we. Don't need you any more sorry and I was like, okay. So I lost that Gig and then I had been working in outpatient surgery as well with a facility for three years and back completely shut down. So ironically I was kind of gearing up in those early weeks. I'm like all right here we go. Like I've been training my whole life for this and I was it just didn't play out the way I expected a now a sudden I'm worried about you know getting enough work as I in pandemic. And there are a lot of reasons for that that you know I'm sure you're aware of many people listening are aware of, but you know the per diem crowd got hit hard and everything just shifted around so quickly and then it was like travel nurses coming in, you know my co workers are you know leaving and getting work elsewhere because they can't Get at our hospital and it just felt so chaotic and uncertain, and I have had also been working for the private sector for the last eight or nine years here in Los Angeles Oh come on a lot of pride in doing her thing and so I'm really networked into that field as well here and so I was able to just hustle in. Find some private work and just like piecing everything together like a lot of us per diem nurses are good at doing you know. Yeah. So I was able to get through you know kind of those early months and then things started to pick up again at my hospital and so now that I'm able to work more kind of back mostly full in the ICU again, doing some a private work as well and aside it's it's changed everything I mean regardless of where we work like. Especially, at first like the policies and procedures were just changing daily, you know as mere figuring out the best ways to protect ourselves, screen all of our patients and everything, and so that was overwhelming to keep up with, and for example, I was floated to. Telemetry one day at a unit I. Believe once before come on shift and I have a patient who is like in basically in respiratory distress did not like the level of a rapid response per se. But like he's on iphone as will Kanye like eighty percent like fifty liters or something like that, and you know he has tech Nick and all this stuff and I'm just like, are we going to test this guy for covert like your and? where's PP P now, as I kinda, don't want to go in the room unless I have that, and then I really had to advocate for myself and be like you know, let's test this guy that was before my hus-, my husband's testing everybody. But like those early weeks were really stressful that way because there are so many unknowns and it was it was scary to walk into work which previously was familiar and comfortable to me is an experienced nurse and two now just feel. So on edge

Japan set for new prime minister after ruling party vote

"By the end of today, could Japan have a new prime minister? The departure of Shinzo Abe's due to ill health triggered a rapid and intense race within the country's ruling Liberal. Democratic Party today's voters among three contenders with a front runner Mr Abbas advisor Your Shahida suge he promises to maintain JAPA- Japan's current economic policies what I'm delighted to say our Tokyo Bureau chief know. Wilson. Joins me now good afternoon. Aloe Vera. What is the latest? Well the election is happening as we speak the members of the L. D. The parliamentary members are in a hotel in Tokyo casting their votes. I don't think it's going to take that long actually, and I expect the results to come out quite soon and you're right Mr Sugar is. Massively the favourite he's already secured seventy percent of the vote within the party the parliamentary multi, the votes he'll probably get most of those as well. So it really is sort of a formality, this election and what will happen next is on Wednesday the Diet will come into session and he will be. Made Prime Minister officially. What is it about your Shahida suge which seems to have guaranteed to convincing win for him. Well I think number one is he's ver- famously very loyal to Shinzo, Arbor, and his his platform is basically all just do more of the same. So he's not putting up any kind of different policies. It's really hard to cigarette paper between these two he's he's openly said he will continue the economic policy, the diplomatic policy, and that seems to be quite welcome within the party within the parliamentary party. Certainly. Now. The other two candidates. Very strong candidates, Mr Kishida, and and also Mr issued burner issues. We've talked about him quite often he's been. A strong critic of Shinto Arbor but those they can't win today almost impossible I. You know less this summer unbelievable event. But they're looking to next year I mean even though Mr Suge will win today, he can really only see out Shinzo Abe's term which would have finished next September, this term as president of the Party and the the term finish is September twenty twenty one when they will have to be another election. So the big discussion now is does Mr Suge immediately have a general election to. Cement his position. So I think that will be the big discussion next week. What is the popularity of him among Japanese citizens I e descriptions of him in the press did not paint him as a particularly pleasant. A warm character that many people would be inspired by in fact, the absolute opposite but it's only in the last couple of weeks at a twinkle in his eye appeared. Carefully contrived twinkle in his eye I mean he's been in front of the press twice a day every day for nearly eight years because he's been the spokesperson for Shinzo, Abe's government. So the press knows him very very well, I think his public persona is is not so clear people now know he's the son of a strawberry farm he's not from one of. These famous political families like Shinzo Bay Familia, Kishida, one of his rivals he's he's worked his way up, which is being a little bit of involuntary cheese talked about I'm a regular person. If I can become prime minister anyone can and they've tried to craft a bit of a warm personality saying he's got a sweet tooth. We've had a few friends wheeled out. From his his hometown, he comes from Accu in the north of Japan from a Small Town Newshour but I have to say the people they've they've brought out have rather confirmed that he was a pretty quiet nondescript character as a youth. You didn't really do much more than than than fish for trout and played baseball. He wasn't really marked out for political success. Oh I wouldn't say he's he's extremely charismatic and he himself admits he doesn't have much diplomatic experience. So that will be interesting because obviously one of the big relationships that Japan has its regional neighbors and with the US and I, I'm trying to imagine Yoshida and Donald Trump. That could be an interesting meeting. I think Mr Saga the the Polish that some of his. Colleagues, have and I I. HE admits that will be a new experience for him. I mean he indeed, I mean he's already said that if he does indeed secure the job, he will need the help of Shinzo rb when dealing with foreign policy as you say, it's going to be a different kind of. For in front facing world that the Japan will be pro presenting to following the departure Shinzo. but how much is there a real feeling that will be in the background despite his departure? I. Don't think he'll be in the background in any sensitive as a puppeteer, but I think the aims of his government will be pursued in one thing that's very interesting about sugar is he's not really an ideologue Shinzo had some quite. He had ideological positions are very well known. You know these nationalist positions very concerned to to reformulate the constitution Japan's pacifist constitution. He wanted to change that. Now really saga is not one go on about nationalism in any shape or form he's very pragmatic and everyone says the same thing he doesn't have a lot of charm sorry to say but that that's the the verdict on. Him when he goes into her and he's not dominating the room radiating charisma he looks at the small print and he's he's not really one for schmoozing but he wants to get things done and that's where he will differ from Shinzo obey. But I don't think he'll be grandstanding on the diplomatic

Is God the same in the Old and New Testaments?

"The first question is from Nancy. In? Michigan? Hi I'm Nancy from Grand Rapids Michigan. Thank you for this excellent series. Here's my question. My son grew up in the church but has been questioning his faith at times. He Sees God is being contradictory in appears to be emotionally abusive at times. In one of your podcast, you mentioned that Jesus is the full orb portrait of God. If people don't see this, they are either misunderstanding God or Jesus or both. What exactly would you say people are misunderstanding about the God of the Old Testament and? The New Testament. Thanks great question. Yeah. I felt like this is a question that a Lotta people have a lot of people resonate wish up here. I have found. We all have talked about this all three of us at some point that it's actually. A more regular experience that I found in pastoral ministry when are coming to own their faith or they're just exploring it to try and take it more seriously, and they just read the actual Bible as opposed to rely on the versions of the stories that they were given through teaching or something. There's a whole phase usually of the Bible creating all these problems for people actually John you lived there for quite some time. So this is a very common issue. The portrait of God is complex. Yeah. and difficult to process, and I just thought you doing a character of God series and I think Nancy in her son is experienced probably represent where a lot of us have been or are in this moment it's especially hard when you are reading say the psalms and you just want some real feel good like. worshipful contemplative things and dishonest psalmist are talking about a really retaliatory or oh, sure. Angry God. That does at times strike you as is this abusive is gone too far and when you can pull those out and you're confronted with those. That's a total. Yeah. I've experienced that same feeling. Yep. Yeah. Yeah. She is as though word or her son I guess emotionally abusive at times. It seems like that topic of the violence of God or violent depictions of God. In the Old Testament, especially is really hard to deal with and I guess for me when I think about questions like this for myself or for other people, it seems really important to acknowledge that their space to ask those questions in their space within even the Christian tradition to not know the answers to those things like to just recognize that a Lotta people think differently about these issues like some people read the Old Testament and think this is. An ancient document that you knows written by by ancient authors who were accommodating or God was accommodating their culture and their style of communication or God was actually accommodating and how he acted within history or they're just a lot of different ways that we can. We can read and interpret scripture and I. Guess. It's just helpful for me to recognize the that they're space within the Christian tradition to ask these kind of questions and think about how we interpret. But will said on both those points. So however, you know there are there are ways to get an angle to make some forward. Movement Yep isn't our understanding This is kind of surprising perspective that I find keeps helping me process this and it has to do with the composite mosaic character of the Bible. So you know these texts emerge from if you if you take the Hebrew Bible but then add the new. Testament on, we're talking about over a millennium long process of the collection and shaping of these texts and sewed the Biblical text, incorporate stories poems and laws and. All kinds of stuff from all these periods of Israelite history and experience but they have been brought Organiz together with patterns in a message and so on. So that's what our whole how to read the Bible series about but it does create a challenge because when I encounter like you John. Charissa. And we worked together and we see each other on a regular basis and pretty much. You know your behavior is consistent from day to day and you start to build up a portrait over time of like Oh. Here's how Chris is. This is her character that I infer from your behavior. And then let's say you get to know somebody long enough and they'll be. Something extreme that happens and then they'll be some new aspect of their character and like Whoa ow that's I didn't see that and so there is something kind of analogous like that to the Bible but it's actually more complex because it wasn't all written at one go. And so the way God behaves in one story and the way got as than another store. He'll. He'll like judge a whole city and destroy it but then he'll forgive a murderer like cain and you're like what? What's the deal and so we have to do with and what Christians have struggled to do is in adopting the Hebrew scriptures. Putting them alongside the stories of Jesus the writings of the apostles we have this huge project of synthesis that lay before us of how to create. A Mosaic Portrait of God's character out of all of these pieces from different times and places, and I think that's essentially the challenge is. Is Finding the the continuity and so what we're emphasizing the series is that the your way of the Hebrew Bible is actually a lot more generous, gracious and compassionate than most people tend to think what we are not focusing on but which is true is that Jesus is actually a lot more aggressive and intense and judgmental. Then people often make him out to be He certainly didn't get crucified for telling people to love your neighbor. You Got, crucified for critiquing publicly the religious and political authorities of his day, and he was very intense with them. And said, they were going to be destroyed. So I think part of it is we also need to learn how to augment this Old Testament is angry god New Testament is the loving Jesus caricatures don't do justice to either. So the two factors that have been helpful for me as I go into think about individual texts

Big Ten football still waiting on final decision after presidents meet

"Next topic has to do it is the big 10 going to come back this season? Better late than never met, shaking Byron Metcalf Sunday morning got ESPN radio, the DSP adapt and serious sex and channel 80 thrill that have on Heather Ditch, ESPN college football playoff end college football reporter as well. So Heather yesterday the games were almost a secondary topic to what was going on on social media with regards to the Big 10 and perhaps a vote coming as soon as today about returning to play. What is the latest give us much background as you can. For those that are kind of in the dark on why the big 10 might be coming back soon. Sure so on Saturday, the athletic directors and doctors who comprise a medical sub committee of the Big Ten's return to competition task force Presented a lot of medical information to eight presidents and chancellors. Who are another subcommittee, right? You need a flow chart for all this stuff, has subcommittee So basically a bunch of athletic directors and doctors presented a lot of medical information to part of the presidents and chancellors, which are essentially like a buffer group right and it went very well from what sources have told us. So now that's kind of the first step. Now. Today everyone meets guys. I would love to be on this new meeting because it's like everyone in the big 10 is going to be on it. Except for the coaches. It's all Of their doctors off their sub committees and all 14 presidents and chancellors, And today they moved beyond just the medical piece and they start to look at. How do you actually return? When do you return? And what are the medical benchmarks needed that each team has to pass to actually get back on the field. So they have looked at at least four rapid and engine testing models that weren't there previously weren't available when they last decided to postpone the season. And now they've got a look at some dates, right? Some more substantial information in terms of logistics, as when do you get back? Mid October late October. What is all that look like now? Whether or not they actually vote? Nobody has any idea. Even those presidents, right? Yes, they can vote, and if they do vote, they need at least nine of them to agree to return. According to the big tent by law, and that means that six of those presidents and chancellors would have to change their minds from their original vote in August. To postpone. Maybe they don't vote. I think there's a certainly a good possibility. They don't Maybe they push it to tomorrow. Maybe they have more questions. We're talking about university president here. There's no telling what they might do, and even they don't know, but they certainly could vote. Magic Meyer Metcalf Sunday morning on ESPN radio. There is some sort of clicking noise on the end of their phones. So whether we want to call you back to make sure that we can hear everything you're saying clearly we picked up everything there. And I think the bottom line is my right. There are a lot of subcommittees. A lot of tax forces. There are a lot of people talking and maybe because of all that, maybe finally, the right people are going to be talking to each other today for the first time, or at least in the last 20 for the next 24 hours. Communication's been the biggest thing right at the end of the day. What people have been saying from day one is can you tell us exactly what happened? The process was there of all. What was the vote? Can you give us information? And perhaps the big 10 has reached that point where they are sharing information with the proper folks. I wanted this to medicine that feels like me to me. This is it? I mean, if you vote today, whatever this weekend and you come out, saying, we're not playing, that could mean you're not playing all year in my pin because we have no guarantees in January or anything like that. So this feels like perhaps the last chance. To get football going in the big team. All right, So we got Heather damage back. So, Heather on the heels of what you just said, and they're gonna have another vote sometimes soon. My question has to do with the fact that they're gonna have to have six presidents change their votes. Now, if the president's If they change their votes do they have to play like in a sense? Could Rutgers say yes, will agree that we can return to play But we are not going to play personally. Is that something that could happen? Yes, Absolutely. And I think that's a very good possibility. Maybe they come out of this and unanimously say Okay, we all agree. If you want to return you can, but we're not going, Teo. The question then becomes How many teams do you need to play? What's that line? Right Where you say, Okay, We don't have enough or all right. We can continue without the two of you. I mean, remember Michigan and Michigan State has presidents who are at an epidemiologist and an infectious disease expert. So there's a very real possibility that Michigan Michigan State Rutgers I mean, here in here in Maryland, where there's no margin for error with any soon, Nathalie tells after what happened with Georgia McNair two years ago, I would be surprised if Maryland Voted in favor of that their president. I can't say that for sure. I'm just taking an educated guess here, But you have to consider that each university is different under different leadership with different scenarios, and we heard how strongly Rutgers president earlier this week called Donald Trump's involvement in the politics. That was his phrase, he said, I'm not going to change my vote based on political interference in this So every president has their own thoughts on this, But yes to answer your question. It's certainly possible that they agree to play in some school say thanks not for us. None of this makes sense to me unless there's some attachment to the college football playoff. What are the chances that The big 10 could still participate in that if they make a decision here today. I think it's a good possibility, and it's the timing of it is what's critical. If you're talking about mid to late October. It's certainly possible for them to get in at least an eight game conference schedule. And have their conference championship game. December 19th and selection day for the playoffs is December 20th. So that is a very realistic possibility. And everybody in the country knows Ohio State is a good enough team. To be part of that conversation. The question is do the three other commissioners who are already playing Probably in the big 12 John Swofford in the Sea. And Gregg. Thank you and the SEC. Do they go for that? I think they would. I genuinely think that they would But once you get past that October resumed a then it gets really tricky unless realistic.

Shuko Oda's Sticky Chicken Wing Recipe

"Hello. My name is Schuco Oda I am a Japanese chef from Koya restaurant and today I'd like to share a recipe for sticking wings and burnt soy jam. This is a really simple recipe that I do often at home as well as the restaurant. and. The good thing about this dish is that you can do all your peparations the night before. So. Let's get started the day before your barbecue or when your are coming, there are three things to prepare chicken wings, the burnt soy jam and the Garnish. going onto the chicken wings, we prepare the chicken wings by removing the tips cutting them in half of other if you like to keep your chicken wings whole, feel free to do that too. And then you basically soak the chicken wings and four percent salt water. Brian for about four hours, then you take them out, pop them dry with the dish cloth and then you leave them to air dry in the fridge. And then next, we make the sauce for the burnt. So Jam, you basically need four hundred milliliters of soy sauce four, hundred milliliters of mewing, which is the sweetened taquet, and then one hundred, twenty milliliters of rice vinegar. And Eighty grams of honey and those things are all mixed together in a pot and you keep this at rapid boil. So the edges of the pop start to burn and give it intends burnt flavor the washing a little bit hard by the end but You just need to get them boiling quite rapidly so that it does have that burnt flavor to it. So You keep it boiling until basically it's reduced to maybe about one sixth of its original amount. This can be just roughly and. Once, it's down to one sixth and it's looking quite sticky. Then you had the same amount of. Jam. And for the jam, this can be pretty much anything from a free call tomorrow related ones with a little bit of acidity usually goes well, and then once the jam is at you similar the sauce for further two minutes or so basically until the sauces welcome pined thicky and that's your burnt soy I'm ready and advocate to the sweet salty sauce. We need to prepare some garnish and I like to use much stick leaks, which you can simply prepare cutting leak into five centimeter cylinders, and then you use only a white skins and slice some along the grade into matchsticks. You keep this at a cold water and then that's pretty much all your preparation done. So on the day of your barbecue. Do now is to grill your chicken wings, dip them into the brunt jam, and then top them with leaks and seeress ticky chicken wings served. And that's it break for barbecues and I'm sure your guests would love it.

"One side or maybe back to the Scottish Premier Timer League. We could say similar things Tommy Smith with them having to make a decision to either restructurings contracts having take lower pay or just take into his option. You you know. There's two or three really big questions that are going to determine their who the starting centerback czar for the Colorado rapids. where I think Anthony Hudson and was maybe moving more pieces? They were less critical questions or that was diffused out amongst the number of decisions that they were making. You know whether or not the team backs law brings backlog Guba car. That's probably the biggest non DP related question of this season. That is the what future. That's the of the Edgar Castio of of last year. If you ask me and then I think the other. I don't think we're going to see a lot of movement in terms of the midfield. There's maybe one or two players or maybe pick up somebody else to help out with that. I think you know. The Forward Corps for the most part is structured in there if we do see a changing of personnel that is going to be the rapids having moving from position of strength to get something also. I'm not saying that I've heard this. I'm not saying that. I think this would happen. But you know I think right now on the open market I think the rapids wanted to move somebody to a lower level level. If suddenly he would become available. I think the rapids could move any one of their four record players and get something really really good on return not saying that they should do that but but if suddenly somebody comes up and wants a million wants to give you a million dollars for a Chi- Kamara that's at least that's a conversation that at least like Porsche. Pick up the phone and they should hear out whatever that party is and the rapids are going to get a good exchange of value in there. So I don't think we're GONNA see a lot of change in the forwards we could see a little bit of moving in the midfield position room personnel. All but I think Mo- like it's pretty set that right now. Robin Frazier has a starting eleven. That he's confident in. I think there's some depth options on the backline some depth corruptions in midfield. That need to be revisited. But what are they doing with us to Santa back roles with two players who are the incumbents with physicians were they doing with potentially the one under the two. PS that they're gonNA sign in January to wait for the right time in the summer. Is Robin Fraser. Think they've in. Needham is a better for them to spend that allocation money elsewhere. Those are probably the two biggest biggest questions for the two thousand twenty season. I don't think it's a big question in terms of goalkeeper. Just because I think there's an obvious answer but at some point there has to be a conversation of. Hey Robin you still like clinic goalkeeper. We're good so there's fewer questions to be asked. I think there's going to be less turnover in terms of number of faces from twenty seventeen. Eighteen to twenty eight eighteen as there will have been from twenty nine thousand two twenty twenty. But there's going to be way more critical decisions and if the rapids. Get those two DP slots.

"Entertainment System folks on second ask. Hgh L. we have tonight mark. This comes from Cleveland and that asks Hashtag ask. Hda Gel during your interview. Going back to the rapid series with a Sanderson Anderson. He said that the best advice he got lost. Boubacar was when he showed a desire to not get the. What does that tell us about the team? Morale attitude attitude at the Up to that point. And why is it. All Hudson's fall opened rent the seas. Oh Yeah 'cause he's a bad close coat closed. Emergencies Mark We saw this with vines. We saw us to a certain extent with Rosemary. I think probably the big thing that is holding back Jonathan Lewis in terms of his ceiling healing and in terms of his Potential with the United States men's national. He was the defensive side of things. How much is that rugged competitiveness in either? What lawless else was able to bring in or the coaching change or maybe conor Casey injecting the Hashtag keep fighting approach? How critical has that been the team season? And how how. Things went up and down and ultimately to Anderson's development in twenty nineteen as a mostly right back. Boy I duNno might take in general all on High end high level professional soccer is at the margins especially in Emma last between gene teams in talent is pretty thin and confidence is a big thing. I'm also when you watch any team up close You see how confidence works that. That teams just start trying stuff and moving the ball forward more aggressively and trying passes that. Are you know more dangerous dangerous more cutting more effective when they have been winning when they are confident You know I was front row center to watch the river hounds. Go on a twelve off. Game unbeaten streak and you can just see it in training the confidence in the way the players are playing. It's just bullied them. So I think that that's probably a big thing thing for the younger rapids for Sebastian Andersen to be able to see that. The team kind of snowballed their confidence together and it. It worked out for him and I think that your interview with him kind of showed that as well good point on that note mark you know. I think lawless was kind of he was coming into a toxic situation in obviously in the the final two weeks at most of the Anthony Hudson era with the rapids but ultimately you know he came in kind of with fresh eyes knowing that he was getting loaned within the League because he he wasn't getting starting minutes for Columbus if nothing else if he played well that helped him all around if he played poorly That at that point was much lowered the standings in Columbus crew was that was going to be bad for him baffled future with Columbus or any other club in the event that he ended up moving on so whether or not that that was either out of a selfish standpoint to say. I'm here just for me and I'm going to be here for me by making this bad team. Less bad had defensively but in any case he came in with fresh eyes. He had a new idea and he helped reinvigorate that that maybe just a little bit stale because everybody was used to each other. They were used to the circumstances and you know they. They needed a different voice and in that on the deacons aside lawless was fresh eyes and a different new fresh fresh voice. I'd say the same thing with Conor Casey and Robin Frazier when they took over respectively. And I'd probably say the same thing of Jonathan Lewis just coming in in the attack in the build-up so in terms of what does that tell of of the team around the altitude. I the attitude you know. I think Wallace helped inject a new and better mentality. I think getting a different voice in having conor Casey. AC play a little bit more to their strengths. And I think that was reflected in terms of of full-fledged professional who's making this his career trying trying to rub off possibly on Sebastian Anderson certainly say the same things of Sam Vines. You know at least in the in the rap kid series called. Basset spoke about the relationship that he'd really developed On with Kaikoura and I think if you're talking mentality professionalism absolutely being gritty being an absolute competitor and going out there and just being in a warrior on the field. You can't do much better on this rapid steam than having Wallace Boubacar. And kyw Kamara be the being the guy you know shoving shoving a fist. Stop your you know what when you need it. And then taking under their wing when they absolutely needed as well last night she asked hd we have comes from zing leg tubes mark. We didn't talk about this. We need to give a major Kudos zing leg tubes for sending us that podcast about the Swansea Mascot zero the swan and the abstinent abson madness. That was that thing I'll re tweeted and retreated from at rapids. Ninety six PODCASTS folks. This is a complete rabbit hole dive into in English. I would I would call it like English football mascot hooliganism that is absolutely worth Understanding zero the swans role his history and sort of Mascot not diaspora maybe the mascot anthropology within in the English football league I will say that it is very inappropriate and absolutely not safe for younger viewers sensitive yours and work but in any case zing leg tubes to answer your your question. We saw a ton of Clare turnover with a new coach in Hudson. But Frazier has had success with this squad. You expect as much turnover turnover as Hudson had in his first year less or more HASHTAG. Hd Shell mark We both talked about in the past the fact that frazier or just by the players that he was playing having the lineup. There is a pretty clear whore of maybe fifteen or sixteen guys. That frazier really liked or saw had a future with the team at the very least were players that he valued on and he said when he got hired he said when the team was in the middle of getting results as well as he'd like this team he didn't think that the talent and what this team is capable Love was indicative of the O.. Nine into star. Mark your thoughts on Robin Frazier And his relationship and coordination with Pork Smith going into this off season and what this means for the rapids maybe reloading changing positions or moving faces around. It would be insane for me to speculate about this. It would be absolutely journalistically irresponsible for guy who's barely even journalist anymore. Since I only cover ever essentially the Pittsburgh market I the cool thing matters that you are now the most important rapids journalists in the history of journalism about that pumps the brakes mark. You and Marco but no serious like The interesting question and the interesting thing to do you should write this question down or chisel it on a piece of of of stone and go into off season with Porac an robin and ask them as much as you you can like. What are you looking for? How much you guys on the same page you know? What's the special sauce where you know you should just like rummaged rummaged through poor ex office. And see if you can find stubs from airplane trips that he's taken to see what countries he's been to and who's he scouting like there's I got news reporting Donald Trump. But I appreciate I appreciate your in the in the approach to answering this. Yeah no I think this this is a job for a reporter in the sense that like I think I think I have a sense of who PORAC values what kind of player pork values but I also think pork is probably in a new position where they really have a manager that they like and trust And they will listen to more more so than Anthony. Hudson I think Anthony Hudson got a couple of guys who were New Zealanders He said I wanNA play this season. system court said great. I was bringing in in these guys already. I'll use this guy hill fit your system And then it turned out that Hudson note he's talking about Or that the guys they brought in for his system were Kinda duds and it was a bit of a mix. I really think that frazier is GonNa have a little bit more of an active hand. But I really do think that it's a total mystery history to me how much frazier's going to drive the bus versus how much dry boss verses whether these two can get along. Well you know one little inside side piece of baseball that I can tell you but this is going into ancient history of the Colorado rapids. Is that It did not seem like Paul Bravo and pork. Smith were on the same page and it did not seem like Paul Bravo was on the same page as either Oscar paret ha or Pablo Mastroeni more so bravo and master wedding but it seems like You Know Bravo had certain really strong ideas about what would make this team. Vast 'em he he he didn't necessarily jibe with all the people he was with. You know I think it's only up from there. We're better off but I don't I do not know what they're going to look for four or who exactly they're gonNA highlight an. I don't exactly know what frazier really wants from the next season. The only thing I think is a big thing is that they have a bunch of money to play with a probably WANNA creator either a ten or a nine Or maybe a adrift. He number seven avenue kind of you know messy style wing attacker who can cut inside. But you know that's the only thing I know and that's just basically knowing that the team has devi position supply with all said Mark. I will agree with you. That this is an extremely speculative question and probably one that is borderline irresponsible possible to answer but mar beholden to our good friends on twitter beholden to using leg tubes for having an absolutely hilarious PODCAST that he sent to us. So therefore by the laws of the PODCAST. God's we owe an answer to this. Oh I don't know that we're GONNA see as much turnover in terms of the number of players. There's changing but I think there's some You know this going back to the you know the position of you in the position grades for the season. If this was an exam I would say that pork. Smith and Robin Frazier have maybe instead of saying exam. That had maybe ten questions that the had a bunch of little parts. There's like three or four questions. There's one main answer that's needed in there. And it's so critical to getting this team right. Whatever happens is with the negotiations about potentially bringing lawless Boubacar back and what that entails now much the transfer fee is whether or not we want to buy the you know the the rumblings rumblings about the million dollars more than The Ikea par transfer that is an absolutely critical decision and the rapids. Get Him to get him with overpaying. What does that that mean? In terms of other assets that have to swapped with Columbus. And if that's not something that they do what else are they doing the center back position that goes back to what future that Danny Wilson who if reports are to believe rapids committee. Get out from under that contract with moving him to a championship or league. One side or maybe back to the Scottish Premier Timer League. We could say similar things Tommy Smith with them having to make a decision to either restructurings contracts having take lower pay or just.

"Sounds like he's leaving rare didn't rate him he couldn't get a minute With Bradford City for two years league I think he went on loan to a non league team. Some right in fact check me on transfer market like this was a kid who had a lot of potential had flashes. Nobody really made it work and conor. Casey made it work at times. And you know he seems used to be at least somewhat in good hands with Robin Frazier so he had a little bit of a coming out party especially with that drop against Philadelphia Union. I think the game before Marquette a couple oh good moments against Columbus but I think that name of the actual episode was a match of the day player and we questioned like would could Jonathan Lewis be able to do it over the whole the ninety minutes and clearly he was able to figure that out and he runs that good run of form into the United States. Men's national team and then he's an effective player all the way through the end of the season albeit the at with some rotation which US Casey going to the forty three one Robin Fraser sticking with that having a bunch of players who could play in those two wide roles and having kind of just a rotations depending on what the matchups were and what the game calls for the occasionally had Lewis is a superstar more so than as a starter that we saw from a Sam. Nicholson usually on the right or a honor. She Niki occasionally on the left is well. Maybe the one other thing from this era. They we didn't really talk about mark that I would think if there's an alternate universe where right before the opening game of the season the rapids have Jonathan Lewis. Amal Suva car. I agree with you regarding all the other things going on with the midfield in the transition from a tax defense that I would have my doubts about that Universe's version version of Anthony. Hudson being able to get out. What get get Jonathan Lewis? Do Produce in the ways that conor Casey and Robin and frazier were able to do so prolifically. I wonder what this defense would've looked like and if there would have been any. More cohesion had lawless Boubacar. Join the rapids prior to the Portland game rather than I believe he had. I believe he joined. I want to say that week. The Vancouver game was or maybe oursel- was his his first act for match that he was available for the rapid. So you think okay. We need somebody to help with transition from a wide standpoint creating they needed something at center back and those two reinforcements who proved so critical to the rapids. Making something of the twenty. Th season happened when you know Anthony Hudson you know had so much much let you know. Had almost no lease left on his time with the club I would be curious to know and that alternate universe if things would have turned out differently or Hudson would have been able to figure your things out such that. He was able to stop the bleeding or at the very least extent his tenure at the club or if they even be in the same place as we are right now in this universe within the multi-diverse move onto frazier zero. Yes let us move onto the Robin Fraser. ARAMARK and that starts off on Saturday August. Thirty first with You know a very critical win and a very emotional weekend for Robin Fraser. Going back to the New York Red Bulls on you know a place that was very critical to his development development as a manager. And obviously the last game of Tim. Howard story career Playing in New Jersey and he came back after having missing several games due to an injury three and they get a to know when they get a clean sheet on the road. Tim Howard absolutely hobbling with his calf somehow is able to stay in this game for the full ninety minutes and Jonathan the newest I believe with a brace in this one they follow that up with two nil and two one win over hapless Seattle and Galaxy. At that time they lose a crazy game. That had had a bunch of mistakes but they were very much in against Toronto of see in hindsight mark. That game was probably the one that probably did the team. Their playoff hopes they get a win at Sporting Kansas the city in a crazy game absolutely thumped. FC Dallas and Hashtag. Thank you tim and the final game of the season Home game of the season on September twenty ninth and then with all all the chaos that had to have him put them in a position to potentially clinch that seventh seed in the playoffs on decision. Day It was ultimately relatively routine in Elliott getting through win ultimately call US breaking the goal record and winning the Golden Boot as we now know from this week maybe that game had a factor and ultimately him handily beating blocked on for the analysts MVP and elsewhere you had sporting Kansas City getting blown up by FC Dallas and Portland getting result against against San Jose earthquakes that ultimately the rapids missing the playoffs but a five to a five win and two loss seven-game runt and season in an ultimately putting I think fans in a much happier or more optimistic. Stay about the future human. What Robin Frazier was able to do from from a tactic standpoint evolving beyond the forty-three one and then particularly adjusting stop with the three and five men in the back and just some of the ideas and clearly being able to do that with pieces that Casey was able to get production out of but not consistently and really just tools that at least on the surface look like Anthony? Hudson didn't even know what to do with Nice. I I have a I don't i. This came to mind and then I had to backwards engineer at Matt. Maybe the listeners will really appreciate this So Hackney that everyone will be like thank God. The Denver Denver Post fired that guy. He was a moron so I was thinking that like I don't really have a good grip. On what the Robin Frazier Outlook is or what the style players. And I don't know what the future is going to hold for Robin Fraser's rapids. I'm excited about it. A lot of potential and immediately the phrase that jump to mind and was Tom Petty Song which is into the Great Wide Open. And then I thought to myself if I were going to name each of the era of the three co three coaches after Tom in petty song what would it be. So for. Robin Frazier is into the Great Wide Open for conor Casey's running down a dream because I think he had the dream Prima job of being you know the coach of his former team. That was really good. I think for For Anthony Hudson. It's last dance with Mary. Jane which if you're a man of a certain age like I am what comes to mind. Is the video of Lance last dance with Mary Jane that was on. ESPN ON ESPN ON TV. All the time when I was that age. which was Tom? Petty dancing with a dead woman. And that's Anthony Husband. He's just Walson his corpse around the room. The question though is who's the corpse in that metaphor was it. Was it the rapids. Trying to animate corpse of Anthony Hudson's concept concept of the of the team or Anthony Hudson trying to figure out a way to get players who did not like playing for him to perform for him. I think it's the former are but nonetheless you know the Colorado rapids season was a series of Tom Teddy songs. That's what I've come up with. Last Angela Great Mary Jane Rundown Dream and we go into the twenty twenty season into the great wide. Open Matt I'll do you one better mark. I'm GonNa make an analogy you. These three acts in these three coaching errors for the rapids using Queen Lean songs. So I'm GONNA say after the Anthony Hudson Arrow was a hammer to fall very nihilism. This was queens. Maybe like one it was. It was not typical queen in that it followed a formula or a trend that had been set by other bands particularly in English. Rock of just protesting mutually assured construction. And this was kind of during the nuclear arms race of the Cold War so referring to the hammer the fall indefinitely lady mercy was did not come home tonight for or Anthony Hudson. I'm GonNa say this mostly because we had a tweet that went viral and I think it speaks to just the craziness and just the smattering of emotions of the conor. Casey era and I think we have to save. Oh he mian rhapsody thunder and lightning. Carlos Rela frightening mediation. You Cheeky Rubio's I'm just a a new poll. I'm just D- Mid. Nobody loves me. He's just a demand from kids families. Spare him a night from this monstrosity. Mama Mia Mama Mia S. Janney Wilson. And then I'm going to say just because it was upward ascension and it was absolutely fun soccer to watch and great to see the teeth get results against clubs who obviously obviously rapids fans. Don't like I think Robin Fraser has to be Mister Fahrenheit. Nice very nice okay Mark I guess I want to say one other thing We both said in our preview episode and I think we both tweeted about this that we predicted the Colorado rapids to finish eighth and ultimately they were just two points short four of jumping the San Jose earthquakes and ultimately finished ninth in the season so January releases geniuses. We know we're talking about that's why you listen to podcast. You WanNa be educated people and that's why you listen to us so I just WanNa say that in all the chaos and all the other predictions that maybe we got wrong or that normally absolutely silly half the season completely wrong in the Hashtag teen chaos. That is major league soccer mark that we will within I would say a a very small error bar of being close to where the rapids were albeit without. You know. I think the expectations of where the team was defensively or at least my prediction. That Nicholas Mosquito is going to completely fail. The number ten in Beni fell hopper was going to have a researches with this club On that note Mark Lettuce head out McHugh our physician reviews and we will start from front to back with the strikers. A very good striker core for the rapids at twenty nineteen. Everybody was productive and even the one player who we didn't see a whole lot of in Nikki Jackson Mark Did some really really good things mark. What was your make What do you make of the Rapid Stryker Corp from the twenty the accident season and give me a letter grade for them Lula a minus. You know this is a these are a starting striker who Vanden you know. A whole bunch of goals had foot was in the golden boot race for Parsons season despite not having the horses behind to really pull it off A rookie of the year. Who was a striker You know and I think the only question John After that is is both depths in age which is going into twenty twenty you know is Kamara Gonna be the same guy betting against him as he. Ages is generally early a bad idea because he keeps doing it year after year. She is only GonNa get better but they need to figure out a way to use him the best because he's such a specific you know. Oh He's got a specific set of tools in e can't necessarily score twenty goals like Valla in the sense of get him the ball and he'll just rack workshop. You have to get it to him in the right places to service his skill set. So I'd say an a minus. What did you think I give them an as well I think? Happiness is is determined by expectations mark. And we've seen in our times covering this team and even just in the life of this podcast that you know the the offense is normally really really bad so so to go from bottom barrel to maybe a good year. Maybe two thousand sixteen being midtable in terms of goals score the rapids finished tied for second second in the Western Conference and tied for third overall in the league with fifty eight goals more mark so we take out the obvious outlier in l.. AFC scoring eighty five goals. The thirty four game season. You Had New York City of C with sixty three and then the rapids were tied with the League. Alex he Atlanta United and the Philadelphia Union with fifty. Da Goals for you look at every single one of those teams that they were tied with ultimately ended up making playoffs..

"JANAKA bully to be the one thing that was consistent of just if the defense can like give up less than two goals a game on the team consistently consistently got the ball the kyw Kamara they are going to be able to score. And maybe kind of the big thing that at least I noticed marker You know I had a conversation with a lowery from the athletic On twitter. GM's maybe a couple of months ago when he was writing something about frazier incase seed is the one thing that was kind of consistent for me in the tactical approach approach to that Hudson hat. And this I think is true whether it was the three five two five three two hybrid or the or the four four two diamond as well as is just he could not get the midfield on the same page and the midfield was unable to transition from defense to attack consistently. So you know if if you take the Orlando game for example it was called Basset counter cost to a lesser extent Jack Price. They had games where they were capable of supporting. The offense ends with numbers with service to Kai Kamara whether it was the rubio the other wingers in the other forward but then they completely let the defense out to dry other than jack price being and mostly we as defensive register role there was never any consistency or any good quality from Hudson either in twenty eighteen or in those first ten games. Where are the midfield? Had a coherent idea what they were supposed to do or is able to play in transition. I remember writing a long tactical master's thesis effectively on on this the last word on soccer. Basically saying that the diamond wasn't really a diamond and the transition shape was obvious but not good in any way shape or form that ultimately undid this team team in games where they had a chance to get a result like at Orlando like DC united. You know Chicago Fire Of all teams completely tore them apart and then the one time that he actually south defensively notes against land united and then maybe the one thing that I remember from that we can mark. I did not watch that game. 'cause that's the weekend that I was in England and then basically every every single game after. That was a joke of which have I seen in person get more wins this season Fulham being one. Oh with a one in over Cardiff city or however many rapids home games. That had been at that point because it wasn't until may twenty fifth that the rapids actually get their first home win. And and that was the second game of a seven game unbeaten streak in the real start of the conor Casey. I would call it kind of keep fighting Pablo tactics. Plus plus just because conor Casey being former forward and probably living vicariously through Kamara actually had ideas for what to do uh pensively in the counterattack so Colorado rapids get their first win of the twenty nine thousand nine season on May nineteenth against the galaxy. I believe Andrea. She knew she off the bench. And that one mark in that. Seven game unbeaten streak street. They go on to be Columbus crew. That was a game that saw Federico Igwe seen get hurt and effectively end his time with the Columbus crew. They get a gutsy one. One draw the Philadelphia Union. And they take care of FC Cincinnati at home and then beat Minnesota. United GonNa draw at thank couvert and then one of the Games of the season on a one nil win off of Danny any Wilson of all people on June twenty eight against l.. AFC on and then they had that crazy game that had the lightning delays and went into past midnight night on Fourth of July technically July Fifth Q.. One loss to New England revolution and Bruce Arena with the club at that time they get you to draw with Echo Lhasa by SAM. Nicholson after that the lose to New York City F C and then San Jose earthquakes. They have the. The prairie dog plague keen on August. Third `Art Montreal impact. That was a six three win and kyw Kamara with the hat trick and then causing one of the own goals and another thing that happened with him and then they beat San Jose earthquakes and that that was kind of a real flipping the switch for me at least mark where you had that seven. Game unbeaten run. It was mostly against bad tease. And then they'd had some losses and you know points unstrapped against quality opposition but then the fact that they were able to learn from that loss just two weeks prior against the San Jose earthquakes show just a little bit more ruthlessness and then ability to not make mistakes. Leave the door open for their opponents on. They get a one nil loss against Minnesota united thousands of scheduled congestion. Nothing that we can really you say about that. A two two draw against Houston Dynamo ultimately finishing out the Conor Casey era ending in a loss in Rocky Mountain Cup to nail to Real Salt Lake. High Hi Kamara sent off in that one and some late goals for ourselves that ultimately get them to win six points against the raptors in two thousand nineteen once again the Rocky Mountain Cup mark. Walk me through your the perspectives on the conor Casey interim era of the Colorado rapids. You WanNa go through the whole middle section that whole middle section season. Ah Yeah I mean if you WANNA break it up into the end of the seven game. unbeaten streak and then the the latter half. That's fine. Yeah coit I don't really know I. I suppose the way to look at the car. Casey era was that he succeeded too much. Really simply put He was he. He got the team to believe in themselves. He got them to play less rigid soccer author and start to form multiple ways of attacking while putting themselves in position to defend that worked. Better which was specifically very simples? Essentially telling Kelly Acosta and Jack Price You guys stay Back play defensive midfielders and telling the fullbacks you guys stopped bombing floor exposing yourselves on the counter and that was it. I mean you know that. That's my humble sense of the only changes he needed to make get this team on the right foot Which is maybe I'm wrong or maybe I'm too simplistic but it really very much felt like Mike? Hudson was too wedded to a specific way of playing to the effective and he would not give up on this vision of guys. If you just follow me. We're GONNA win and it didn't work and Casey was just much more pragmatic and said like this is not working. And let's play a simpler brand of soccer and try and win. Some Games in a tight way does not hurt that. The rap is wound up playing a bad Columbus Columbus a mediocre Columbus crew team a bad cincinnati team An Okay Minnesota team Who are on the road A A very bad whitecaps team In that stretch the one game I can't explain is l.. AFC Don't understand how they won that game. I will never understand how they won the game. I literally predicted they would lose that game in the Denver Post the week before at which everybody in the world made fun of me and I'm fine with that I find And then you know now I think the rapids came back to reality. which was they didn't really have the talent to to beat every team in the league? They had some gaps especially in terms of creating and creativity And the League. Is You know better than them. And I think that was those. Were all kind of Things to to be aware of when when was the last game of of the Conor Casey Era The loss to real salt lake at RS L.. Did I mean at that point. Most of us had thought that the playoff hosts were completely dead and if nothing else the one thing that they were fighting for the Rocky Mountain Cup was completely out of reach Wjr. Yeah and then. I'm just looking at the scoresheet in and trying to figure out what the hell happened when we played Montreal on the two teams scored nine goals altogether. I don't I remember that that game vaguely and I don't remember what the Hell happened except I think Montreal just quit right like like fifty minutes. They were done something like that. But that that game stands out. As forget about the conor Casey Erin summing it up because I think I gave a pretty decent thing but like yeah there was an early own goal and then there was a penalty and then they just blew them out after the house. I don't really understand what happened there. uh-huh yeah so it was. It was an own goal from Kai Kamara with a thumping header. That competed with Tommy. Smith's own-goal at Portland and then Evan Bush. With an own-goal Work High Kamara creates creates that scores on a PK. In the thirty six minute and then two goals in first half stoppage time with Shinya she setting up for an absolute of volume volley and then Diego Rupee on a set piece two goals against the Rana play for Montreal that gets us to want to three fourth. That gets us to four three and then having it gets another to counterattacking goals from senior cheeky and Kyw Kamara. So the game on a whole was the dumpster fire I think it was emblematic of the best best. And the worst things that the Colorado rapids capable and I think at about some up the occasional moments of brilliance from the attacking players but overall no cohesive idea and very easy to get completely destroyed from the Montreal impact that ultimately saw them miss the playoffs mark they had that one loss at home the FC Cincinnati and now it looks like you know for what feels like at least the fourth time in Montreal's analyst history of Joey pseudo is completely burning down the club and starting from scratch with regard getting sacked. They brought in Wilmer Cabrera. He wasn't retained as interim head coach. And it looks like Maxi CARUCCI Nacho. PRDS's probably out so that that game had a lot of very strong teams undertones of all of the best and worst things that I think both the twenty nine thousand nine Colorado rapids in Twenty Nineteen Montreal. Impact were capable of doing. I don't really remember like I can't fully make sense of what happened in the madness that did happen but it was exciting to watch and knowing that I didn't get the plague afterwards because clearly. I'm still here. I enjoyed that game. Yeah Yeah Yeah. Gonzo weirdness is always fun and soccer even if it doesn't fit the narrative that we sat up and I think that's why I guess I stopped and paused on that game. which was like? I don't know what this game was. Is this an outlier. Is it indicative of anything you know. And I think that that's another thing to kind of reflect upon with the early part of the season was like what what did we learn about the Colorado rapids during the era You know there's too narratives. I think you set it up a little bit. One is Anthony. Husband was the worst manager in the history. We've managers of bumbling Moron who couldn't find his way out of out of his own car with the keys in his hand. You know that's that's too simplistic narrative. I don't believe in black and white in almost any facet of my life which is why I think assigning a significant amount of credits. Pablo to Portsmouth for figuring. Hang out what players. The team needed was helpful. That being said I don't think that Anthony Hudson would figured out a way to use Jonathan Lewis us in any way shape or form Also to that end. NYC AFC didn't figure out a way to use Jonathan Lewis. Either don't make torrent..

"He probably other than Shinya Sheiky. He probably did other than a Boubacar. Xinyu shaky third disturbs the biggest player slice of this relevancy pie and then our last gauge the the H. L. for the night mark comes on twitter from Andrew Lewis Foster and Andrew Ass if they miss the playoffs. Do we feel good about a great turnaround around and hopeful for next year or do we burn down the stadium if they make it too if they make it in. Do we feel good about the turnaround and look forward to next next year or do we forget about the problems. I guess I'll lump us into generally sang mark. How much do the results of Sunday really matter are we looking at just this turnaround out and Robin Frazier and just the the psyche in the mood in the locker room as a moral moral victory? How are we doing that in terms of the up and down bizarro twenty nine hundred rapid season vis-a-vis how will transition that over and turn the page to twenty twenty? I don't think the results on Sunday matter at all for how we feel about this team I mean first of all aw they got the manager. They really need they got a number of young pieces that are really exciting. They'RE GONNA lose some Tam level players who weren't super great uses of funds and they've got to open DP slots to play with in the off season and that's a really really big thing to watch on that we will be keeping a close eye on but donald be really fascinating of like you know. This is a Colorado team that basically without a designated player at all on the roster. I mean Tim Howard yes but he's been an average major league soccer goalkeeper for the last two seasons. He's affectively not really a DP quality player. You got to actual DP level players to add to a roster. That's already already clawed. Its way into eighth place from dead last man. It's just all gravy at this point so there's still a lot of big question mark. You can instill screw up the offseason pretty bad here you know is a team stamps pat if they get the DP slots really wrong if they wind up trading trading away some important players if the depth isn't dealt with you know we're we're looking at a team that to be very honest. One of the things that helped the rapids in the back end of the season was depth. not not doubt was health that this team was basically healthy. They lost escort forward essentially for the entire season. We anticipating that right. They didn't really lose anybody else for an extended period of time but like you have a couple of players go down on the back line and you're looking at actual show Berg in co-ceo par back there you lose loser right back. You really don't have anybody to fill in for Keegan Rosen Berry. You know you lose a couple of midfielders like Jack Price. Suddenly you really don't have anybody who can serve the ball. So this team was really thin. I mean they really needed a couple more guys in depth and they're gonNA need to address that in the offseason so anyways before we get into an off season What should the rapids do kind of situation? We should be very proud with how this team was. We should be very excited about next year. and you and I should ask a lot of questions about what they're looking to do to bring in the offseason while sad mark now I agreed Andrew Andrew I think at this point everything for them making the playoffs his gravy the fact that they weren't weren't in the wooden spoon race the fact that they had a couple of really good runs in there. They beat some good teams teams as well. I think you have to be optimistic about it. Robin Frazier's clearly come in and you know elevated the level that he still he didn't even have a full preseason to implement some of his ideas the as how many other higher level more nuanced things does he have spinning in his head right now that he's just thinking off we get to February and I have the full preseason with disguise and bringing a couple more. My guys are make a couple of little tweaks to the team the team and everything. I can't imagine where they'd be at this point. I agree with you depth. That's probably I'll be an issue. Centreback is going to be a major thing for them to look at but just the fact that ultimately this team under two coaches and you know about twenty games or so proved approved the final words of Anthony Hudson wrong and saying that this wasn't a bottom group bottom team with a bottom group of players. The fact that Tommy Smith is now a functional centreback. Maybe not worth the Tam or anything the fact that they now have a functioning offense legitimately Margaret. I'm not even sure they need to sign a former DP for me to be confident about this forward core going forward. I've got a few things to address in the midfield as well and you know maybe they'll be. Maybe a backup right back or at the very at least you know Sebastian Andersen understanding that his role could be much more significant in twenty twenty but I mean they've got a bunch of homegrown. They've got a about to turn into ended their prime age wise core. That's pretty well locked up. Keegan Rosenberg Diego Rubio Kellyn Acosta all signed new deals and everything they got Jonathan Lewis Boubacar which is clearly an understanding understanding from the front office assessing through the first ten games what their weaknesses were and they found out a way to ultimately get them you give Robin Fraser the chance to make a few tweaks weeks and really implement his team from a personnel standpoint and from an idea standpoint. I think you have to be a little bit more optimistic and that is before even I addressed the in fact they're bringing in two nudie. There are plenty of ways for them to screw up those other but even if they just make minor little tunes or add a couple of little depth things to this team team right now. Take away those first eleven games right now and mark. This team is playing at a playoff pace actually let robin frazier make a couple of other adjustments maybe Jack Bryson proves a little bit more maybe Kellyn Acosta takes step up in twenty twenty knowing that he's fighting to try and get onto the US national team for World Cup qualifiers and you add a remotely competent designated player better than a skull Gashi a Flabby Torres a Juan Ramirez or Tim Howard effectively a business decision at a position that is not of the need or anything and I have to think this team is at least capable of being the sticks best team on paper in twenty twenty so I think at this point you have to be feeling optimistic and it's just a matter of how are they going about changing those things and what are they doing with a two DP slots listeners follow us individually on twitter at L. W. S. Matt Pollard at rapids underscore. Rabbi checkout are written musings on.

"Neither of them are is defending but both of them are an immediate outlet further fullbacks and I think just based on the precedent knowing that velos probably GONNA play in the middle. I Like I've been writing this all season in terms of Sammy vines improving. I think you put trust in those two fullbacks to win those battles one V one just get the ball. Get it to somebody in the middle of the park who can then distribute or just just lay it out for somebody for Jonathan Lewis into space with you having numbers of field and so I think mosquitoes better from that link-up play standpoint point. I think probably my first three players off the bench. If I need to go I need to change something. It's probably Rubio Cheeky maybe depending on the situation and who that I ended up having in to bring out. I'm not sure there's any defender. I'm subbing into the game. Maybe you decide to go full five at the back like how we've seen the three five two with Keegan Rosenberg centreback in which case then I probably bring on seven Anderson for for Nicholson just move him back and then it's a proper five-man back line with the wingback not really going forward. I don't know that there's any like Goto like this is a game that I'd love to have Michael Zero or Sam. I'm grown and available to come in off the bench mark but I I don't know that there's a Goto lock down defensive sub. I think that'll probably just come with the team playing a little bit more conservatively ed or the formation switch that I talked about. You feel like we shall we do. We Dare Rabbi Mark. Good men make a prediction on the results of this coming Sunday no. Why do you have to do this to me? Matt while I do have to make me like say something. I don't WanNa say I have been pessimistic all season. I have said since June we weren't gonNA make the playoffs. I feel the rapids finishing eighth. which is where they could potentially finish as well? Yeah that's true I I feel awful about betting against his team that I love because I am not just a pundit. I am a fan but there's a bridge too far man. I mean you're asking for three results to go our way. Including including one of the most difficult results you could ever ask which is L. AFC I will point out that I literally wrote an article for the Denver Post in which I predicted they would lose to L. AFC Z. and then they went out and the L. in harshly in Oh my gosh to that moment. I'm just GONNA go out again and say the Colorado rapids are GONNA lose was to L. AFC The rest of the results aren't really gonNA matter and that's that hardy though as you know Matt is saying that because I really hope that I will be proven wrong again. What do you think Matt? I will say that the rapids will also miss the playoffs Orland gets a result. I think Portland gets a result. I think they win. Rarely get a draw. I think there's goals in that game. It's not gonNA be a clean sheet for either side so that one's going to end up not mattering I think. FC Dallas else gets a draw against Sporting Kansas City as well but I do think that the rapids will go out and beat L. AFC I think it'll be one at halftime and then at that point Bob Bradley Oh will sub out the main cavalry. I don't see Carlos Fella playing any more than a single half in this game one way or the other sort will be a goal in garbage average time when Bob Bradley's effectively said we've gone up there. We've done our job in terms of getting the legs loosened. Let me get some young guys minutes Carlos go ice up and get ready because sauce on his coming in that the rapids who are absolutely going all guns blazing playing like their hair is absolutely on fire will go out and get a goal in garbage time of that that will probably be the final twenty minutes or so and it's so Dalo got them a two one win but ultimately not enough that said mark. I I think if we've learned anything from the season or even just covering this league independent of having a a rapid focused lens on covering this league like at this point like I'm convinced anything's possible this is absolute chaos lending anytime you think you've absolutely figured out a narrative or what the results going be or how season's GonNa go or what's going on with a team or an individual player. This league will absolutely turn on a dime so if there are soccer God's if they have a writer's room room of amyloid script writers and everything I think anybody out here you're listening to who you're reading folks who you're talking to you on the edge of the bar right before kickoff on Sunday anybody anybody who says. ABCD effort can happen. I'm absolutely certain. I don't think there's anybody out there right now. Who knows what is going to go down on on Sunday and I wouldn't be shocked if it's something that we completely weren't suspecting including but not limited to in some form or fashion the Colorado rapids qualifying for the play offs all right mark let said ask h h l long show but I hope you've really enjoyed it listeners? We got an email asking she h. L. From Eric Jansen then mark shoutouts extratime radio for actually carrying about the rapids and not being like you know we be like trying to provide therapy you and me mainly but he asks them any other tidbits on how much of the credit pie should be given to Frazier Casey or even pork Smith. I say Smith because everyone lambasted Danny Wilson Tommy Smith I and the less to a lesser extent Jack Price last year and part of this year Wilson wasn't a complete hit but also wasn't a complete bust either not everyone can be a starting centerback back. Tommy and Jack are looking really good in the system with the surrounding players add on that Guy Rubio Boubacar and drafting Shinya Sheiky for this year. Those are all hits. We have done the blame pie on this show. In the past we have done Momma Abubakar's awesome Pi. I'm going to amend this to say the returning to relevancy at the end of the season credit pie how much credit to Robin Frazier Conor Casey Pork Smith and is there anybody else who you think deserves credit for the fact that we're talking about this team mark and they are very much relevant in the final game of the season. I I mean the easy way to go as a third a third with with the three names that you mentioned Smith Casey Frazier but I wanNA give more credit fifty percent credit into powder casey for reversing the curse for stopping the slide for turning the mentality team around I think that this team could have very well delve into a position where they were beaten down they were desperate and they went full on. FC Cincinnati cratering and just is becoming a disaster but they didn't they turned it around. I think Casey units third game. He started to get it right. They played a little bit more conservatively. At first he e e- pinned the fullbacks into a defensive position instead of bringing them up he kind of asked Kelham Mukasa and Jack Price to to do the dirty work in the middle of the field used them as kind of Pera defensive midfielders. you know he got a lot out of that. I want to give a lot of credit support Smith who did some really good wheeling and dealing at the deadline he gets credit for senior shaky the beginning of the year he it gets credit for bringing in Boubacar. He gets credit for Jonathan Lewis. who was a big spark plug in? I also think a side thing that we may have talked about before floor. was that somehow Anthony Hudson just wanted to play narrow. He wanted his wit to come from fullbacks. In this season. When they went to a four four two diamond he basically wanted to play narrow? He wanted the fullbacks to continue to bring the ball up. There were no wide midfield as before for went out and God Jonathan Lewis conor Casey figured out a way to use chinyere shaky and natural striker as a wide midfielder. He got Sam Nicholson to be a useful and productive again. and frazier continued a lot of that you know frazier continued a lot of that and then I just want to add one more thing that Kinda will end up in your end-of-season stuff for last word on soccer. is is not related to this. It's a little bit of the blame pie but I wonder whether Hudson broke Shellberg and CERNA who had a terrible game in the fourth game of the season and then they basically were banished to the bench that we've never seen them again and that kind of breaks my heart. These were both functional practical football players at the end of last season now now. They're like you know a burnt out husks of themselves before the show started. I was looking it up just to see who was on the injured list in case there was a player that I wanted to talk about for. LLC and they weren't actually available. It turns out Dylan. CERNA wasn't available last game. He had throat surgery which is an absolute mystery to me. Yes swimming he was at he. I did see him at ESPN. He was talking to a couple of his teammates. Assume the throats okay but yeah he's you know I. I'm not sure what what the timeline is on that or what was going on with his throat. That's a very non soccer. Injury is a very non soccer injury and I was told that earlier in the season Benny fell harbor also had a non soccer injury surgery I'm off for when it did not seem important for him to be with the club after I think he got a rat also right so yeah injuries and losing players players but that's neither here nor there so ago I'm giving fifty percent credit conor Casey but frazier for for raising the spirits and tactically planning really well these last couple weeks and pork for making important adjustments. He gets definitely get some credit I'd probably have to think a little bit more because there's a few other people I wanNA give a slice of this pie too so maybe I won't get percentages but the the biggest the plurality and the largest slice of Pie should go to conor Casey. This team was absolutely absolutely in the dumps after eleven games and he just came in and he steadied the ship and he got some potentially unimpressive results against some potentially unimpressive teams but the end of they mark the three points at the rapid God against the Hapless Columbus crew and a hapless. FC Cincinnati count just as much as any points that they're going to get against Elliott the the win in terms of just the actual results matters just as much as the one against FC Dallas so he got results. He said he the ship notably they went on that nice little unbeaten run. They had a couple of other really good results the game against San Jose at home for example and he just he steadied things from a club standpoint. This club was an absolute chaos and anything that he did to even just revert to where they weren't gonna be contending for the wooden spoon. I should eat some crow on that on that guarantee now that I think about it he deserves the biggest slice because if he doesn't steady the ship hip and put them to the point where they're even remotely average during the summer months then there's nothing for Robin Frazier to come in here and and try like the ships ships already sunk by the time Robert Frasure takes over the team in terms of the twenty nine hundred so conor Casey gets the biggest piece I wanna give the next biggest slice ace to Portsmouth just because of the midseason acquisitions what Jonathan Lewis and also boubacar bent and absolutely fantastic they all deserve a small slice of the uh of this pie as well as shaky and then the next biggest one after pork would-be Robin Fraser all the players get smaller pieces after that the two other players I'd probably highlight right after that mark would be Clint Irwin him stepping in which is all the uncertainty regarding Tim Howard and the injuries and everything and he just came in and you know it was almost a seamless transition whether he started games whether he sub games in in terms of players being familiar and him being familiar with the game plan in his communication style being king slightly different than Tim Howard but equally as effective and the other one. I'll say Jack Price you know now with the most set-piece assists from an entire season. He's been a fantastic box midfielder. He's calmed down the yellow cards and he's been contributing to the offense. I think of all the players that I've listed..

"The exact same branding as the club of which there is no other yeah that almost made sense in in other words they weren't playing in Swope Park and nobody knew what it what the joke was was swope Park Rangers so they just gave up and said all right where we're GONNA play play in Kansas City will just call them the Sporting Kansas City junior they congressional are they keeping the the the bigfoot mascot go. That's a good question. I don't know I don't even understand why bigfoot is their mascot do that. Nobody understood it and I think that like the whole point was an inside joke that didn't make any sense and that that was the joke all right them very good. anyhow Christian nemesis is maybe the only bright spot in last week's EXC lineup yet. He has goals on the season. He's been a little bit he he disappears in stretches but you know long story short Sporting Kansas City is really not the team that you want to rely on in order to get you some points. So you know the first game we previewed it kind of could go either way but we're we're really hoping that Portland can help out the rapids by beating up on San Jose. That's reasonably possible Sporting Kansas City helping helping out the rapids by getting a result against FC Dallas is a little bit less likely but likely talked about in the rapids game. Dallas Dallas looked pretty damn aimless this last week and you put them against S. K. C. who've looks pretty damn aimless for the last five weeks in it's six to five and pick. It's like really hard to figure out whether you know at least Dallas has something to play for. Were a sporting may just go out completely flat and likely mentioned between the red cards in the injuries. There's just not a lotta horses in in the in a stable to carry them through you know forget about being outta gas. They're out of men yeah. No I agree. I agree with you mark so I mean that's this is the game that I'd be worried about rapid fans. This is the game if you're GONNA do boxing or anything or whatever you have to do in order order to watch the rap game if you're pulling up something else on your laptop or ESPN plus on your phone it is absolutely sworn in Kansas City against Dallas and maybe set notifications on fought aww mob or mls soccer or whatever other app you use as far as the San Jose Portland game that one's also on national TV so maybe you could toggle back and forth on your TV depending on what your home entertainment setup is but if there's a second screen that you're peering at occasionally while watching the rapids against l. AFC It's absolutely gotTA BE FC Dallas and Sporting Kansas City. Maybe the one liner hope or thing that I'm looking at as far as this is concerned how well really two is smart in Kansas City's out of men but also I think just the way this season went that Peter Vermes is probably looking at this as reshuffling the deck like a mini reload to try and get one more chance that a trophy with the Bay Gutierrez is Tim Melia Graham Zoo see map Beasley Roger Espinoza core and so maybe he ends up shuffling line up with some guys who weren't as good the season weren't a part of it you mentioned I mentioned you mentioned Daniel shallowly boost IOS and homegrown. He's still relatively the young so maybe this is a game that if he showcases he's starting with the first team instead of with the cell squad at the start of the season so maybe they're not fighting for anything collectively as a a team but depending on the type lineup that Peter puts out there you know there could be a bunch of guys who were fighting for their spot on the team next year or contractor already know that they're probably on the outside oats and then they're trying to create some of their highlight reel you know we saw that a little bit with the rapids last year with getting the win against FCL's on decision day and ultimately that helped down the down down Dallas who had a chance to host home playoff game and afford the wildcard they ended up losing to Portland. I believe on Halloween the following Wednesday so maybe that's an opportunity for sporting in Kansas City. Maybe playing spoiler something significant but I'm not really sure how I'm GonNa feel about this game until I physically see the lineup to see what kind of a squad they you know Peter Vermes duct tape together with the parts that he actually has and you know switching formation. I mentioned they didn't look like they had a plan. Plan against the Colorado rapids they pretty much just put eleven men behind the ball in their draw Seattle sounders and they came out absolutely flat against against New York City F C their most recent home game up until the Sunday so I don't I'm not sure similar to Portland and San Jose. I'm not sure about either team but we could see a Sporting Kansas City team. That's actually going to go out there and fight tooth and nail because they want their contract for twenty twenty. We could see team where Matt bazars. There's like the season's over who cares and maybe the team ends up mailing it in I mean I have to think if if you can't beat the Sporting Kansas City team at home and find some form of identity and you how to do that. FC Dallas deserve to win. Their backs. Were against the walls. It was I mean I guess they're Baxter. Maybe tied to their duct taped to the wall wall and now they've got to find a way to fight their way out of it now on Sunday and I'm just I'm not sure what I'm GonNa see until they actually kick off and I know that the lineups and the formations are in seeing just how these these teams initially respond with that mark. Let's head to the game of the day as far as rapid transit concern and that will be the Colorado rapids taking on Los Angeles. Those were ball club. We did get an ask H. T. H. L. About what L. AFC has to fight for they've already clinched the Supporters Shield so they've got nothing to worry about like they're already at home. They're not doc getting on another plane for an MLS game for the rest of the season even if they go on to host molest cup they have sixty nine points on the season mark the MLS record was last year New York Red Bulls who were sworn the supporter she'll with seventy one point so in terms of what is l. AFC trying to fight for if they win. They'll have the most points ever in a single lamela season. They've already clinched goals four so from a team standpoint. They don't really care about getting a blowout. They already have the highest goal-differential by far the next highest after I was forty two I believe with Toronto. FC from a couple of years ago so as long as they don't lose four nil to the rapid they've already got that locked up the only other thing that they really have the fight for other than the points total is last week with the game against Minnesota Carlos Villa tied Jost Martinez of two thousand eighteen for the most goals in a regular regular season. Both of them are sitting on thirty one Martinez still at twenty seven and obviously he's been out with an injury so he's probably not playing for Atlanta. Zlatan Ibrahimovic Nick is at twenty nine goals so delegates one he sets a new record for the most goals in analyst regular season and maybe Velos like looking over to the bench to see if somebody's checking underscore for. La Galaxy against Houston Dynamo to see of slot as a hat trick says fellow wants the Golden boot he wants the MVP he wants to set the record all time and he I think more so than all three of those things he wants to finish with more goals than slots on Ibrahima thing other than Velez setting the goal record and L. AFC setting the points total record record. There's nothing really for L. AFC from a result standpoint to fight for maybe the one thing that you have going for them is out of the game on October. Six playoffs are not until the international after the international window folks so the next play at the first playoff game doesn't start until the weekend of October nineteenth and October Twentieth L. AFC's already the number one seed in the western conference. They've already clinched a by. They wouldn't be playing until the following Wednesday. So everybody plays on Sunday. The other playoff teams have a full two weeks to prepare L. A. S. Seventeen maybe eighteen days depending on which days that they end up playing on a prep for it so it's not like you're saying Oh. Let's give the guys a week week off. Maybe they're thinking just give Carlo run out just to get some miles and stretch out the hamstring. Maybe Michael Maybe Bob Bradley thinking. Let's just do a simulated game in the following week. Can we have complete control of the situation and don't have to worry about Tommy. Smith going in with the studs up tactical mark if you were Bob Bradley how you be approaching this and how much is Carlos Vela e Velez Ego especially given the recent run of form and a hamstring injury affecting how you approach this game boy i. I don't know if I'm Bob Bradley. This game is sort of meaningless to me and I leased Carlos Vela on the bench until at least minutes sixty st in case I need him but I would just give him the week off because I think you make some really good points about wanting to keep him kind of in game mode the end that giving him a fully is probably is potentially just as damaging as risking him being out for injury but at this point you know he's got nothing nothing to prove. I mean you pointed out that he wants to stay ahead in the goals race overs lockdown but he's two goals often. I don't think that's likely to pass them. No matter what he's also logged a ton of minutes he is twenty two thousand six hundred thirty six minutes on the season. That's a lot in the already has fifteen assists. There's there's nothing left for valid would approve that being sad. this team is really good. Even without Carlos Fella I mean they are an absolute juggernaut. the line up top to bottom is completely stacked there's just no way of even even if you sit vela and they are also missing one other important player which is a domino diamante out with a slur Bolland recovery yeah so so they're missing some key players but I still think teams ridiculously good even if they don't have them you've got Latif. Blessing has been playing as kind of a box to box eight eight in a role that I don't know that anybody really anticipated and he's doing really well. You Got Mark Anthony K playing as maybe one of the best finds ends in major league soccer this year he just kind of last year he was a it was a useful cog in this year. He's he's an exceptional midfielder. you know this is a team team that can pull Lee win off the bench short run out if got Eddie cigarroa on the back line it's just an exceptional team top to bottom so you can sit him down m you can still down still probably get a result also impossibly most importantly for L. AFC they're just absolutely lights out or home. I mean they've just been an absolutely exceptional team at home Matt. Do you have their their home away record in front of you. Yes they're home record. This season and League plays twelve wins one Austin three ties and the one loss was against Minnesota united in which Carlos Pella was unavailable and their three draws. I know one of them was against the Galaxy Galaxy and I'm blanking on what the other two were off the top of my head right now. Yeah I mean they're just beating them at home is really hard. It's the last game of the season it'll be packed. The atmosphere in there is just off the chain. you know you said that you know counting on. SKC together results is probably the best thing of the night but like it is almost equally difficult if not more difficult for the Colorado rapids to go uh-huh into Los Angeles get a victory. It's GonNa GonNa take everything that being said the ramparts have everything to play for..

"I did see one report one of the Games is on national TV so the probably be simultaneously kickoff what that'll probably be at the usual one time which is like two twenty to twenty five the half half hour at the absolute latest so plan accordingly. You can get a little bit late to setting things up as far as that is concerned. We are thirty three thirty four th through Ooh the twenty one thousand nine Colorado rapids season mark. They currently find themselves in ninth in the Western Conference. They have forty two points off of those thirty. Three Games played they have a record of twelve fifteen and six with a negative three goal differential and they'll be taking on Los Angeles Football Club who are top of the Western Conference. They have already clinched clinched the Supporters Shield. They did that with a win against the Houston Dynamo this time last week. I believe they have sixty nine points off of their thirty. Three Games played they have a record of twenty wins four losses and nine ties. They have a forty six eight plus forty six goal differential and their record at home in league play. The season listen is twelve one and three their only loss was to Minnesota United Carlos Fellow was absent for that and I believe they also you were at the Open Cup game that they lost as well right mark against Orlands okay so that's a curious situation and then here the other games that are also relevant Portland Timbers who are sixth and and have not clinched a playoff spot are taking on sporting are taking on San Jose earthquakes at Home San Jose is an eighth they have forty four points two points ahead head of the rapids in one point one spot ahead of the rapids and then FC Dallas who are in seven have the final playoff spot have forty five points one ahead of San Jose two or the three ahead of the Colorado rapids are taking on Sporting Kansas City Kansas City's already eliminated but they tried really really hard to down the Portland Timbers over the weekend mark. We kind of almost have to to do three previews on this one so I guess let's let's save the best of the most important one for last the rapids can't clinch over the Portland Timbers so oh Portland getting points doesn't really matter but to make things simple for you listeners. The rapids have to win no matter what the scoreline is the rapid have to win on Sunday. FC DALLAS HAS TO LOSE IF FC Dallas gets a draw the rapids out if they lose in the rapids would overtake them with a win they would be FC Dallas on the first tiebreaker which is wins so don't worry about goal differential title. Don't worry about scoreline. It's morning Kansas City as to win the rapids to win than the rapids overtake Dallas. The San Jose earthquakes can lose they can also also drop in the event that San Jose draws with Portland and the rapids win though we tied on which is the first tiebreaker the second tiebreaker after that is goal differential San Jose has a negative one goal differential. The rapids have a negative three in the event that you're tied on goal differential. The next highest tiebreaker raker is goals for the rapid fifty seven goals San Jose has fifty one. I'M GONNA make a safe assumption mark that if the Portland Timbers draw the San Jose earthquakes. It's not going to be ten goals to ten goals so all the rapids have to do is Tai San Jose on goal differential in order to jump them in the event that they are tied on points and tied on wins because then we tied on goal differential the rapids overtake them on goals for so if San Jose gets a draw in Portland than the rapids will need a multi goal win doesn't matter the scoreline it could be it could be ten to eight it could be two nil. The rapids have to get a multiple win over the over L. AFC If all of that happens the rapids clinch the seventh seed in the Western Conference. We'll start with the least relevant game for this mark two teams that that are I made a joke with somebody at training this week that Portland and San Jose. It's a battle of two battleships and it's not about what can you do to make them sink faster Mr but just stay afloat. I have to think especially with just the way that San Jose's when playing and the red carpet Christian Espinosa all the timbers have to do is start up and have Valeri exists as long enough for the quakes to collapse of their wait. What are you seeing the game providence park on Sunday which will be on national television? I mean you know Portland doesn't need need to win to get in They're not in a position where they WANNA arrest players but they also can't nothing nothing matters in this game for them. If they lose the worst that can happen. They dropped to the seven spot instead of the sixth but there's still been quenched mark. They can fall out of the playoffs. Oh that's right right. There is one scenario in which they candidate involves the earthquakes in Dallas going in right yes in involves the San Jose earthquakes beating Portland Portland Timbers right ignore everything I just said so it matters. It quickly mattered but they're they're in the best shape of these teams games so I feel like this game that Portland probably has this one in handle handle and I think the other thing that we've learned about San Jose since they've really faded at the end of the season is the Matias Omega man marking the happens in requires a tremendous amount of energy in order to defend wears on players over the season that they get they get beat up and you need potentially a deeper team in order to be effective at this method the other thing is as you mentioned this is a home I'm game for Portland to their home record seven five and sore which actually isn't that great they had that really long road trip to begin the season while their stadium was getting finished but San Jose on the other hand has been pretty terrible away from home the three ten in three on the road so I feel like Portland has a lot of reason to be able to win this one but again. I think if they don't win this one it's the least consequential of the three games like you said Yeah. No I agree with you know. I don't have a lot of confidence in either of these teams but but San Jose is definitely been the bigger dumpster fire like I have to think there's been a lot of rumblings. You've been paying attention to the Diego. Valeri is out of contract. He has a contract contract option for twenty twenty and that hasn't been picked up yet and that's been the main reason that he hasn't been playing. He did not start in the game against Sporting Kansas City city so that's one where I really have some doubt Brian. Fernandez got a Red card in that game as well. Maybe by the time this podcast comes out or certainly by Sunday. We'll know whether they're not getting overturned but I mean I just you know the San Jose team they look absolutely out of gas mark Michio may did a fantastic job of implementing his identity and the man marking system on them but in MLS thirty four game season with all the travel and all the different elements you need to have a distinct double pivot at some point join a successful team and MLS needs to be able to go on the road out of conference play and just put numbers behind the ball and get out of there with a one one draw and that hasn't been Almeida's him Komo and this team looks absolutely exhausted. They were gassed a couple of weeks ago when they had a home game against Philly and they were one nil and they ended up losing that with some precarious situations situations they've had a couple of red cards and everything you know Wanda's clearly winding down and potentially he'll be hanging up his boots on. He'll be hanging up his boots on Sunday as as well so that's something to think about just the Portland Timbers all they really have to do is show up. Valeri has to say okay like I'm putting aside my the contract negotiates whatever however start me I'll play the ninety minutes. Let's just get a result and get into the playoffs and focus on winning now kind of like the US women's national team saying we're going to fight the good fight for equal pay but we're going to put but that aside and focus on winning the World Cup validate that Larry if you want the team to pay your money and prove that you're not slowing down with another year wear and tear beating the San Jose earthquakes and making another run at Emma's cup is a really really good way to convince Merritt Paulson to give him your money man so I think I think Portland has to show up and I think they get the result and even if they get a draw that's not the end of the world for the rapids. I just on the road. It's going to be on national TV. Portland's going to be desperate in everything they're are you know they they need to get a result. San Jose is going to be without Christian Espinosa. WHO's their best player for me? The game's going to be on turf and everything this'll be the first time my mate is. It's going to that stadium in that environment so in terms of planning and understanding that and everything I have to clean the timbers get a result in this one mark. Just I mean if that doesn't end up happening. Then I mean we're further down into chaos men. I think either of US want to be so I think that has to happen. I don't think it'll be pretty Portland is has to show up and play their game remotely at what their averages which is not very good right now and eventually the quakes will collapse of their own weight and Sin Brazil be able to get a result with that. Let's transition mark to FC Dallas taking on Sporting Kansas City FC Dallas get some win and no matter what anybody else's hewing they're in the playoffs Sporting Kansas City. We'll be without Roger Espinoza. They played kind of a hybrid lineup with some of the younger guys and everything I've got to think with this team being coached by Peter Vermes that they're not GonNa mail it in and in terms of this actual result mark but I mean I just I wonder do you play some of the old guys and maybe grams Uzis like Ma as opposed to like Gian Luca Bucci Oh unchristian nemeth who are fighting for time and potentially another contract and twenty twenty going out there saying I'm GonNa make a statement. I'm very curious about what version and what team team shows up for Sporting Kansas City and just on on the continuing theme with FC Dallas like what is FC Dallas. How do they go about getting result against Kansas City? Well well yeah. SKC's been bad they're winless in their last five with four losses. They finally got a tie this last week against Portland Island there centre-back pairing votes on Barris and early Sanchez was standing in and and they're they're they haven't been very good. Sanchez got a Red card last game so he's out for this upcoming game which means that your other defenders are Jalen Lindsey Enzi us very very young and Cecil Novick who's actually a fullback and not a centreback. I don't really know what they're GONNA do here. They I think Dana shall we finally got a goal this last week. it was his first goal in like eight tries he had before that he had an expected goals of seven point zero zero actual goals he was the kid that couldn't shoot straight and they paired against a next to Gianluca blasio who you mentioned seventeen years old five foot seven hundred thirty seven pounds than playing most of the beginning of the season with swope Park Rangers who manager here they got renamed this week yes so they are now Sporting Kansas City to sew the no no other club rebranded their other club to be.

"Past Sunday. They obviously do that against the hapless Seattle sounders team they did that against slots on Ibrahimovic but I came in and this was maybe one where it wasn't really obvious. It was obvious what Seattle was GonNa do we're going to have Niccolo Darrow. Try and create and have some of they're younger speedier guys just try and run. It was obvious what the Galaxy we're going to get the ball. Get it to postpone. pavonis going get Zlatan Ibrahimovic but you know were they going to change jeff formation what was going to do with his familiarity with this team and everything you know where they're gonNA change things out. Michael Barrios really really poor in this game. Mark and I don't know if he was really really bad or if it was just because no matter how many times he ended up switching the field he couldn't do anything against Sam Vines and a wide role he couldn't do anything against Qui cken Rosenberg vary in a wide role I had no idea at any point during the ninety minutes or after it what FC Dallas Game Plan I don't I would I legitimately want WanNa get time machine. Go back in time go to Frisco Texas and watch this team trained for the entire week that they had to prepare for this game because I don't know what they they worked on. I don't know what the strategy was and maybe that's just because. FC Dallas was really hapless. Markle talk about this in a little bit but you know if they end up losing the Sporting Kansas City you a seven nil on Sunday then okay maybe this was. FC Dallas is actually really bad but you know I think it has to be some combination of Dallas was struggling but the rapids made them look that bad they just completely took away anything that they were going to do from this standpoint Robin Fraser outcoached Lucci Gonzales the attacking players attacked all of the weaknesses that FC Dallas Defense had and no matter what FC Dallas was trying elegant the galaxy defense the Colorado rapids defense was absolutely resolute just in terms of what they needed the opponent they were playing the situation the a national aspect of it being the final home game of the season Fan appreciation night jerseys. He's off the back at the end of the game. Obviously Tim Howard's last home game and everything. This has to be one of the most impressive performances that I've seen in person from the Burgundy boys at DSP park can just given the significance from a results standpoint and how desperate the opponent was where if they come in and get a draw their efficiently into the playoffs the fact that we're still talking about this I mean at this point mark other than Kai missing the PK like what bad things do we have to talk about. We have nothing bad. I just want to add one more thing what you're saying because I think one of the things that we do is an all sports writers or commentators pundits we do this. We focus on our own team. We make it sound like our team was dominant and they play grade and we just forget that there's a second team on the field that are doing things and I think he did a really good job of explaining that it looked like Dallas didn't prepare properly for this game. I wanted to just point out that you have to go all the way back to August tenth since the last time Dallas beat a quality opponent now they have two wins in their last seven games but those two wins against Houston who have been absolutely terrible for about two months and Cincinnati who've been absolutely terrible against everybody. Everybody beat Cincinnati beat the Montreal impact's right. You get you get no points for beating Cincinnati. It doesn't really mean anything because you're basically if you don't beat Cincinnati Europe essentially losing points because it's free points for everybody else in the leagues they only Cincinnati the three to one so that sounds ridiculous in soccer terms but really everybody beat Cincinnati so so my point is and then before that they have a four loss to Ashikaga against Seattle one one draw against my CFC but you know they haven't been good so it was really Kinda. Dallas is shown showing up flat they are either going to have to light a fire under their keyser's in order to get things together on the final game this season or day look right now like like the best the very good odds to to drop those points which would benefit the rapids as we'll talk about the second yeah no we'll set mark. I just the one thing that I wanNA highlight again. Kaikoura are now four for seven on PK's in league play this season and two of them have come in recent games that potentially could cost the rapids. It's points if he hits that head or hits the PK even both were probably having a very difference conversation mark because the rapids have forty five points instead of forty two points with with the loss to Toronto. FC So maybe I wouldn't be worried about that statistic if it was over the course of the entire season and everything but the fact that two of them have been recent and there've in other moments that he's missed his well. Maybe Frazier looks that or maybe Kyle because that and thinks well you know he scored the you know the bicycle kick goal can sporting Kansas City that ended up helping on that front so maybe those things end up equalling out maybe Chi- was just a little bit inconsistent. Maybe there was something I'm not sure maybe he's run into Jesse Gonzalez at some other point in his his career from a goalkeeping PK standpoint that was weird but I think rightfully I don't care what the answer is as long as he has confidence in it I think Robin Robin Frazier and the coaching staff should get together and they should have they should revisit the PK's from that standpoint because mosquitoes taken the only other PK for the rapids in league play he absolutely we buried that and you know Rubio's had some good finishing as well and maybe that's something else visit. I don't know if telling the Kosta or jack price are Tim Howard who was creeping up outside of the box during the game I don't know if you were able to see that with the TV angle and everything but he was walking out mark and the near side on the press box side like the crowd got up and started added cheering thinking that Tim Howard was going to go take the PK but so. I think that that is a question that I think Robin Frazier rightfully should have right now a question that should be hashed out with the rest of the coaching staff. Maybe also involved in there because I mean if we get a PK in the first half against L. AFC with the results Zolt still in doubt is an absolute gift and you can't have any doubt about this you know maybe it's a little bit harsh because maybe these are just independent moments and not none of it's actually affecting affecting psychologically or whether or not it's placebo I'm not sure but I mean if he goes up and he takes a PK and be knocking on my desk which is made made of wood listeners and he ends up missing it like this is the kind of these are the kind of things where you know. Coaches are asked to make these big decisions they can be decided by absolute fractions of a second back in or fractions of an inch and if he ends up to signing Rubio's taking the peak as any scores two of them on Sunday he's going to like an absolute genius and of missing one then then he's GonNa look like an absolute idiot and making it and the rapids make the playoffs. Maybe we're not even thinking about this until the rapids get to a playoff game that requires PK's but I think that is something that it should be revisited and if it's an internal coaching decision if it's within the locker room if it's you know hey like you're lining up against one of the against one of the academy goalkeepers or something then you each get five shots. Whoever wins takes it but I think that's something that should be reevaluated given recent trends that we've seen and given how critical Sunday's result should a PK be involved a four the rapids will be with that mark any other big any big things that we want to talk about that? We haven't already addressed this is very few big. Things left at the end of the season except the playoffs right which will probably move on to talk to now anyways the only thing that I'll just re address well we kind of I want to say this was after after the loss on the road to San Jose but there was one point where I think our recap went into full like the season's over the seasons irrelevant and mark you and I had had had lamented the fact that this was a very familiar situation for us as people who cover the team and obviously for fans 'cause it's the middle of August and it's like how do you get excited about them. The rest of the schedule doesn't really matter. We don't really need to preview Games 'cause they. Don't really matter we don't really need to even review or analyze them because they don't really matter at this point like let's see if somebody who doesn't normally get playing time gets on the field and let's see what happens with the coaching search and all of this was kind of in the context of usually by August I I through rapids or irrelevant in terms of the season it's just a matter of time from when they get mathematically eliminated and we're struggling to come up with something interesting and different and new talk about the team and the team just kind of gradually worked their way in and then they had a really coon run and then Robin Fraser appointed and that was a fun thing to talk about and then even if we just viewed it in a vacuum because we thought the season was lost the win against New York Red Bulls that was fun thing to talk about to analyze with John Lewis and everything and the tactics and what was Robin Kevin Frazier doing and now they've kind of done enough to where we had enough in the middle which is Robin Fraser getting appointed and the things they were doing and the results were canning that those were funded talk about and now we finally it's gone to the point where now it's relevant now. We can take the thirty thousand foot view of what does this mean for the season because unlike with where we we thought this team was late July middle of August the season's not over everything is on the line on Sunday. Everything is on the line with that listeners ars. Let us head to this coming Sunday. "Grand Rapids, Minnesota, there was a, a restaurant under construction. They're being. Moved is being changed from baron to a restaurant at any rate during the transition, a deer decided to check out the work. They were doing and the deer walked inside of the restaurant, the Grand Rapids police department was called, and they, they came in to the officers to try to help remove the deer that wandered inside by the way. One employee was called a hero. He saved a hot pizza from falling on the floor was a hero. And they write the establishment, which is in a strip mall, was being converted into a tap room when the deer decided to check it out about ten thirty in the morning of Dame. Troy, Scott captured the whole thing on video. It shows the deer nervously running around the area. The animal can be heard knocking things over in the bathroom off camera, according to FOX nine the TV station there in gr. Grand Rapids, the other rather, the deer broke lass and mirrors in the bathroom before darting into the main room and leaping over supplies on the floor until it, eventually escaped out the front door. They crew is reportedly working on the building when the deer just Mosey right on in. They said they chuckled because the what I said, he shuttled because his partner was talking the deer, like a dog he was trying to get the leaf. Come up here. Let's, let's go outside. Now come on. Dear ain't gonna work the deer did not appear to be harmed. It was not reported how much if any damage had been done to the property. Let's broke up the bathroom pretty well. So there you go deer live Beth Ruth, Grand Rapids, Minnesota and aqap talking to like a dog trying to get it to cover out sip voice it. Dahlia. Dear sit sit. Lay down lay down. Let's get to your calls. Eight hundred eight five nine zero nine five seven and we're going to Auburn Hills in Vernon is that you? I guarantee you that as well. He would've you had that deer on the, the grill in no time at all. The reason I called is I heard you earlier talking about the tariffs in my thinking is the care of the environmentalists should love them. Because if they raise the price of twenty five percent. The what the problem we're having Mexico. They don't. They use the pesticides. They use illegal in this country. The storm water runoff goes right into the pesticide already to the drinking water. Our, our, our farmers can't compete with Mexico. But now with all the regulations that they have now if they raise a twenty five percent we would be able to get safer food. That's made right here in California. So the California avocados in this case would be would be cheaper. No. They could compete against Mexico because they can't use the same pesticides. Mexico uses right? They have to have retention areas for the storm water runoff. So it doesn't go right into the drinking water Mexico's his a tremendous advantage due to lack of regulation that what that farmers in California, suffering. So you'd think that the environmentalists would say gee whiz list by California avacado twenty five percent more knowing that we are not. They're not twice at the residents that live by is, is the lesson here, not necessarily an economic one, but a but a health issue that we should know and, and be aware of and take into account. I'm thinking that. Yeah. Definitely, frankly, I would say so because if they're doing that with Advocaat does, you know, they're doing it with other products to exactly the reason, I said, that's what the mainstream media, talks about his talk about cucumbers and everything out. But regardless, we are editor tremendous advantage with the regulations that we have over pesticides. And because we there's nothing wrong with being environmentally conscious. There's nothing wrong with that polluting it costs money. So why would you look down your nose if it the president when he's trying? He's he means. Well, he's, he's trying to do good. Well, that's that's very good point. But you know what the political atmosphere's like these days? And it, it hasn't changed since he ran for office, and since he won and. Listening to. People in Europe saying that he's a massage, but they all excuse Kennedy and Bill Clinton and John Conyers, but they just hold up the whole Trump speaking of fire on everything and it just so wrong. It's such a double standard hypocritical. I hear you. Thank you for the call appreciate it. We're going.

"Experience, you know, lack of support maybe want to advocate for a more equitable educational system that was going on in my life for thirty years. So that a lot of the Trump election and the healthcare problems and just the whole tone of what's going on in this country has made me want to run for congress and Whigs actually in Michigan is the third district. It is not quite to Lake Michigan. But it's on the west side of the state from Grand Rapids north of Grand Rapids to waste out. The battle creek. It's actually four counties and a little bit of another county. It's a very gerrymandered district. I read that it went when it was gerrymandered in two thousand twelve after the census that it was the second most Republican district in the state of Michigan. So, you know, obvious. Asli? I'm not favored to win in this district. But we just read a CNN evaluation that I could either lose by up to ten or win by up to six so. Really a race that I need to keep running. And you know, I think that the votes are there if we keep going here. Yeah. And it doesn't look like there's been a new real pulling in this district. I would say not real poli. I mean, it's hard to to get a poll unless you have a ton of money on. So I think the polls that have been done have been mostly landlines and small samples. So it really I think I have more of a field day on the ground at talking to people every day knocking on their doors. And and I'm feeling really good about it. But you hearing from people as you talk to them, what are the issues that are really concerning them this year. I would say the the most talked about issue is healthcare almost everyone has a story to tell me about either themselves or someone they know very close that is going through or has gone through a problem with nut getting care and time. To catch something in its early stages or not or losing a lot of money trying to pay their bills, and they're in huge debt trying to pay off a hospital stay or something like that. So I believe it a single payer healthcare system, unless somebody teaches me about something different that would work better. I think that we could save a lot of money twenty five to thirty percent. Perhaps just looking at what other countries are doing by negotiating lower, drug, prices and regulating medical procedures with a standardized price. In fact, I read about a study that was done in Wisconsin where the average knee replace that is fifty thousand dollars. So someone did some research for eighteen months. They they actually track the real cost of may replace that. And it was ten thousand five hundred dollars. So we have a lot of work to do to get to the bottom of wire healthcare so expensive. And then of course, the limiting of. Bureaucratic.

Not in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. We've never had a problem like this in the world, and we're not sure why or what happened. We don't have any idea, but it wouldn't have made any difference because the whole perpetration was done in in refu thirty five seconds. So it wouldn't have helped us anyway. But the point is that that's what we're working on right now with the with the police department and the FBI when will they be onto flagging? We'll find out probably in a week or two. We're not gonna do anything except keep them in the vault for for now. And then we'll find out in the next couple of weeks and we'll take it a couple of weeks by couple of weeks still are unanswered questions. Lots of them yet, but the biggest one is answered. We've got them. We can catch them. We know they're real. We were worried because some of the reasons that were yielded to us where they were burned at the people that did it who we know names. I mean Burnham, but it's truly, it's not. That's not the case. But if it may be the case that the people that were saying these things just set them because they didn't want anybody to look for. Do you have a suspect you do the police, have someone in mind, you know that there's someone in mind that you just can't tell us. Yeah, that's that's about if yeah, okay, we'll Mr. miner.
