I would assume those are probably in a private collection by then. Probably went right into a private collection. And on this day in 2021, Scottish singer songwriter, Steve brodsky, died from smoke inhalation in a fire at his home in Soho London at age 61. He was a cofounder and keyboard player of the group, Broadsky beat. Known for the signals, small town boy, and why. He was also well known as an LGB activist, it was openly gay himself from an early age. That's what the song small town boy is about. I believe Jimmy Somerville is the lead singer, the bronski beat. It's a free ticket, a free ride and free in a free drink ticket when we get there too. There's literally nothing for me to lose going up there. Fucking Steve I headlined. He was there. The guitarist from animals as leaders. Was there? The dude who played in Black Sabbath after Randy rhoads died was there? What? The guy, you know that song at plays in Bill & Ted when they're in the mall with all of the historical figures that do you wanna play that one? That guy, the guitarist, was there too. Right? So Zach, I think it's Zach wild is the guy who is from Black Sabbath. He starts doing war pigs, right? And was walking through the aisles just dude, I need fucking slay in this fucking solo to just all the way up and into the balcony. And then all of a sudden the spotlight turns on and fucking Steve is just sitting in the middle of the audience fucking guitar in hand and just starts fucking shredding right like perfectly along with him, dude. The past week or so they're leaving tomorrow morning. With the RV and a Taylor packed full of generators, water, all sorts of shit. They head down there. So my prediction is, right? You go down to Florida to help some folks out and stuff like that. You meet angel. A.m., right there. And then you never come back to Colorado Springs. I was going to hear. Because I'm really close to Sarasota. Which I know a few people there. But yeah, angel, mikaela, all them angel just gets over the whole height thing, which is the only thing from stopping her from. Right there, boom. I don't know if I was in some vodka, but I'm gonna do it. Fucking one night, I was supervisor for the night. And it was just me and her, you know, after a little while after we closed, and I don't know, I can't remember exactly what happened, but all I remember is she looked over me, she was like, oh, what do you mean? We could have been just like fucking in the back that whole time. And I was just like fuck. Yes. No, I do it. 100% of the time every time. All the time. Yeah. For sure. No, I mean, good for you. Good for you. That is actually really cool that that's what you are doing. I know it's going to be interesting. And we got a badass. I was just staying in. We got a couple jobs signed up to. Just figure out how people. So when exactly are you leaving? Listen two weeks within two weeks, for sure. Well, best of luck to you, see how this all seeks out. That fucking song, it's just Doc. If you listen to the lyrics, he's basically a serial killer. And he fucking kidnaps his girl and torches her terrorizes her fucking kills her. And then goes out, he goes back out, kisses the dead corpse, and then fucking, I gotta go out again, right? Now, what's that? I have to tell you, those first Aussie tours. So I was lucky enough that I actually got to see him at the orpheum with Randy Rhodes. Fantastic. And I had some buddies of mine from winthrop where we actually had kind of our annual track trek because Ozzy toward every year in the early 80s and whatnot. So after Randy rhoads was gone, we actually saw them with like Brad Gillis from night ranger and that crew. Those early tours were a fantastic Aussie was a hell of a lot of fun. As a matter of fact, I think the second time, I think the first time we saw them, if I remember correctly, motorhead was the opening act. The second time we saw them, Mötley Crüe was the opening act. Wow. Yeah. Yeah, nice. Those were those were amazing tours. Those are great. So the story behind how that song came about no more tears. The bass player was just kind of riffing around. And he hits that.

"Ozzy Osbourne's no more tears, my favorite Aussie song of all time. And that guitar solo is performed by a young and energetic Zack wild. And that dude, his solos were lightning. He was, if you listen to the solo on that, it is heavy, man. And, of course, he went on to form a black label society, right? Yeah. Yeah. I'll tell you, Ozzy, you know, he's almost a caricature of himself. You know, people, you know, they rag on him because of the way that he speaks and moves around and whatnot. He's, you know, he's had a very interesting and activity filled life with a lot of different substances and whatnot. And he's definitely paying the price of it. But one of the things that you can't deny is that great songwriter and has some great great fantastic albums, especially some of the early ones. But more so than anything. That guy could put together a band. You think about the list of guitar plays that he had playing with him throughout the years, whether it was Brad Gillis from night ranger, you know, whether it was Zack wild or whether it was Randy rhoads or whether it was Tony Iommi, I mean, that guy has played with some of the most talented guitar plays in some of the greatest soloists of all time. Yeah, he knows. He knows what to put around him. That's for sure. No doubt. No doubt. So yeah, no more tears. Solo by Zach wild. And you got to give him credit for in the video. If you watch the video, he has this iconic bullseye Gibson guitar. It's great fucking guitar. It's looks good, plays good, just the whole package. All right, what do you have next Jack? You know, there are just some people in the world of rock that had, you know, those those guitars that were iconic, right? So some of them that come to mind. Obviously, Eddie Van Halen with his kramers in the early days, you know, with his Frankenstein, which was something that he called together from a couple of different guitars. You know, you think of Randy rhoads with a flying V and the polka dots, you know, you think of Zach wild. Even Eric Clapton or David Gilmore, both played stratocasters, but they played those famous black houses or even Pete Townsend playing the Les Paul with a number on the bottom of it. You know, they all they all had their ways that you could identify their guitars. Stevie Ray Vaughan's offender strat all worn out with the SV SRV on those like they're not glitter like prism letters. Yeah. Yeah. So why don't we stick with that because that's actually who I was going to bring up next. So Stevie Ray Vaughan is absolutely one of my favorite guitar players of all time. In his version of. Texas flood. Yes. Is one of those even though it's him and only him that's playing guitar. You could almost consider it a little bit of a jam just because it goes on and on and on. But that guy was such an amazing guitar.

But the artist I'd never got to see was Jimi Hendrix. We were in art class. When the announcement was made, I was in high school and we already had tickets to see the show. And announced that he had died. Man, That's crazy. You know, Bill, uh, going back to your story about being on Linda Ron Stats tour. Um It's really sad. What? You know where she is. Now. You know what I mean? As far as Watching her voice because I gotta tell you, I don't know that there was she is right up there. And what top five top 10 the most pure voices ever in the history of of female Artist. I mean, she was incredible. And you got to hear it live every night. I bet you it was something else. That was a plane crash, where they were taking a break from the tour. There were on and Randy and I think it was the makeup artist and one of the roadies who had a pilot license. Ran to the little Cessna, and then they all got drunk and decided to fly a plane and buzz. The tour bus where Ozzy was wrapped out drunk and the landing gear. They almost killed Ozzie. In the process of that, they the landing gear hit the bus, and then they crashed into a tree. And that's how Randy Rhoads died. And it was a month before the show. I had tickets to that is Andrew. While though any jokes like he can't play too hard 'cause he's going to blow out his colostomy bag like i'm only playing because i'm trying to earn enough money to pay for my cancer treatment. Yeah they were like man. This is going to be real sad but the biggest fucking sound came as he had that guitar his hand it was like he was no longer a frail person. Historians use a. He played that song nitra his hands. Were just as fast as you just heard unbelievable and like there was like a fan by his face. Ponytail was blowing away and i remember like the whole thing ended. Everybody walked out. My wife. And i were standing there. We walk outside and we didn't say a word to each other just like holy shit. What did we just see. Dale could play as loud as you too so how much he influenced the creation of like audio equipment and stuff like that and he said he would actually play so fast in a used Such a heavy pick that even almost like he would burn through his guitar. Strange or is crazy. He had such a awesome. I mean gets hit all good cars. Were straits yeah. That was his sound strategic as a pacific. Sound to it He's used us one of the greatest gail said he had a His his strat was called the beast and it had really really heavy gauge weight of his strength said like how heavy they were and he would wind them so tired to have a ton of tension to give. Steve is talking to hello still kinda kinda there. But if felt like a dream and it was a dream And we had to work through the wee hours night to kind of get it done in time for when they all wanted to come out But another situation where is like is this fucking real like you know steve. You know that song is one of the greatest recordings ever And then i got to get the multi tracks and fucking listening to them in the studio playing listen to those drums by themselves and listening to that amazing waddy wachtel guitar by itself. And and sit with it in my. It was what inspired me to make the other songs so it was it was just really kind of surreal and amazing and those kinds of things you know you you just do for the love of music and it's like one of the one of the perks of doing this amazing job. Is that you get to connect with you know people that have touched you in the reason. Why your ear and it's never lost on me and i'm so grateful for the opportunity to do that. You know i love. I love the fact that what can like is is a student of liner notes. Knows all the guitarist and players on all these incredible records. And as i am by dad had a huge crate. Vinyls as a kid and i sat and i went through every single lawn and read every single thing. "And she voted for this year's Rock Hall's class. Welcome to the show. Thanks, Tanya. Well, there are six artists formally inducted into the Hall of Fame. They are Jay Z the go Go's Tina Turner, Todd Rundgren, Carole King and the Foo Fighters. But then there are several artists, including Kraftwerk in a local J who are receiving these other awards. What are these categories, So the early influence and musical excellence awards are Ways to maybe honor performers who didn't get in through the strait balloting. Both Kraftwerk and L. L Cool J have been on the ballot for a while, but they've been losing out to other artists like you know, the Foo Fighters and Jay Z. Even though I think that you know their influence on popular music cannot be disputed. I'm sure he would give girl would agree. Craft works pioneering synth pop and L'Equipe's early hip hop records. Did a lot more to push forward the idea of modern popular music than the Foo Fighters who are great then and who I have enjoyed live many times, and I have enjoyed the records. You know something else about this year, though the Rock Hall is making a point of highlighting This year's diversity. Do you feel like this is late? I mean, it's 2021 the go Go's, for instance, had never been nominated before, despite making history 40 years ago with the first and only number one album by an all female band, who also so happened to write their own songs and play their own instruments. You know, it's a It's a process of Reaching out to voters who are younger. I mean, when I started voting back in 2012, you know I was in my mid thirties and that was you know young for this on because it's been such a, You know, it seems like a long time. It really 10 years is not that long of a time for massive structural change to happen. So you've laid out for us this shift and the Hall of Fame acknowledging what is defined as rock and roll? What else surprised you this year? I was a little surprised by are made and not getting it, I guess, although I guess another recipient of the musical Excellence Award, which l L cool J got was Randy Rhoads. Legendary guitarist who played with Ozzy Osborne on but I think that Metal is, you know, still kind of scruffy outsider genre in its way, even though it's fill stadiums and arenas, the shifting change of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I join ozzy i i just went ahead and say okay what i what i know how to do is be like a sunset strip player sort of kind of i know nothing else. I haven't even been to yet.
