If I recall correctly, the entire album is is standard tuning with with Randy, which is unusual for hard rock metal album. Most of the time the out the guitars are tuned down step or half step or even all the way down to the to what they refer to was like drop d tuning, which is what a lot of tonio mean Sabbath did, which is why it sounded so heavy and like you know miserable this a lot of. There's a lot of stuff on this album and be because that standard tuning it gives you almost like a very melodic hard rock sometimes pop sensibility and we'll we'll get into a little bit but I wonder if if Tony of course, the guy could have done anything but you wonder if black Sabbath could have made this record I don't know I'm sure could have but it just wouldn't have sounded like a Sabbath record. Yeah. I think it depends on depends on who's bringing it because Randy had zero flexibility in quiet riot. And Ozzy had no flexibility and black. Sabbath. This is not rock to me this is metal and To me and we'll get into when we get into specific tracks. This. Whole new style of a Metal Guitar. Is Not van Halen Eddie I feel more rock. This is metal more. Metal Eddie has some that Clapton was always Eddie's hero and a little blues in rock and melodic stuff versus randy who is like a a combo of Eddie Van halen thrown in with Ritchie blackmore that classically trained guitarist. There's been no, I don't think for me. There's nothing like when this album came out. Metal Guitarist changed everything chain van. You know so just practice. You know so you you looted to a second ago but you worked for eighteen years before because you said becoming an overnight success but at some point along the way I'm sure there was some discouragment some encouragements. What was one point where you're like? I can do this for a living. I can be extremely successful. Well I knew I could do for a living when I was a teenager because I was doing. Like twelve birthday artie. So weekend or is doing firehouse shows. I've played at windows of the World. I was in corporate events and I was also playing with my banning clubs so I knew I could do it for a living but I was just miserable performing you know as a babysitter basically doing magic for kids birthday parties and I never was happy with it so I just figured I would take that leap. Because it wasn't about money was always about living my dream. You know you get one life you have to choose how you live it so I just really were hard in just one for and it just it when your different than you're not like everybody else it? It's more difficult to succeed. But once you succeed in everybody like kind of copies you because you proven a road that can work and you pave the road so it was a very very difficult process. But once I along the way saw certain indications you know because there was no one big thing that really happened. It was a small small things that evolved and transformed into a big thing but it was a series of small breaks that allow them to get the big great which was really my mind. Free Television series. You know on a I need act in two thousand and five eight three specials before that I had a six hundred shows on Broadway and forty third on its at the. Wwe McMahon's aid me a break back in two thousand two thousand one. So and I still. I still work with today. You know Stephanie Band and triple H or call with was hanging with me. A Probably two months ago or something so it was a series of a lot of things were you can never give up. That's the one common ingredient you know you just gotTa work hard. Doesn't matter if you want to be the best basketball player anime guy football play you never can give up and you just have to put that time in. If it were easy everybody would be successful. But the It the harder it is to achieve something the greater the reward. So you have the world record in a couple of things and I want to just walk through them to like. Explain the level of panic or how you mentally got over it. So the first one was you were submerged underwater. And had the fastest time to escape from a straitjacket at two minutes and thirty seconds. How the hell do you train for that? And was there any moment where where you're like? Fuck I'm underwater for two minutes and thirty seconds this socks. I'm going to die right. I did over a thousand demonstrations on TV alone. And so so I think you're combining to different things but let me take one each one so I was the first Guy New Young Award. Twenty four hours. I did it in Times Square at the wwe and on Good Morning. America lie to hide everything And so I only was underwater for twelve hours in friends pool to see 'cause I didn't have money back and I want to see if I could do twelve hours and I came out. I was able to do it but I might. Skin drive me crazy. Because of the chlorine it's strove me not sweet. So when you say you're you're under your in like one of those clear boxes underwater. Yeah basically I had Houdini water. It was like a phone booth filled up with water and I always underwater for the very first hour upside down with eighteen pounds of chains and I was recreating what Houdini Did in y you know. Short time I wanted to do for twenty four hours so the first hour I was upside down the remaining twenty three hours right side up but I wasn't really prepared. I didn't have the money in science. United site just forced it S- and Y'all have a permanent scar on my nose because the mask or away and it was the most miserable experience you can imagine but I did it and it served its purpose. And then the one that you're talking about. I didn't tying swear in it was Got To straitjackets. I wanted to be the first person to try to straitjackets at the same bullshit. Straitjackets you get that you see. Everything inherited these magic using lake. Legitimate Cozy straitjackets. I two of them. I worked with Randy tour these Jim because I wanted him to. Constantly choked me out. I wanted to know what it was delights. What signs would be to know when I was going to go on conscious because the idea was not only going to have to straitjackets on I was going to hang upside down above twenty thousand people? You KNOW THIRTY THIRTY FEET. Thirty stories up and essentially have fifty pounds await basically hanging from one end of a rope. The other end was in new surround my nap and so I had to be very gingerly. Getting that straightjacket up is I was fighting against myself. If I moved a lot the news would get hydro at fifty pounds. I would pass out go unconscious and I wouldn't have been able to accomplish my mission so I had to be very methodical Randy tour and you any out a bunch of times. He talked about the crowder arteries. I did turn my neck and different different techniques and essentially on got that I first jacket off to the point that I could get the road with my teeth. Offer my mouth drop the way everything off and then I got out of glass jacket but I did pay a small Christ side ripped my bicep off of my phone. Complete Ariza.

I want of you but I also want a yard but I also want you at school is when you have forty million you hire person and they find you the exact time you're looking for with a view yard all that then. I have another issue. What don't want my kids growing up around nothing. But the wealthiest of the wealthy that's another issue that's anathema. That's on parenting. Maybe or not it is also I know. Kids grow rich and the five flourishing. Maybe it's all about Panton brother probably Do Frank Grillo draft was last night. Dude the draft last night. My broncos got the best receiving draft. Judy okay okay. The Alabama receiver. We got him. We don't have a quarterback not a big deal. We'll get the ball semester. We got the back to Baltimore Somehow. Some was on that you gotta get the football down into the end zone. Do and then how about the the biggest shock and the nights? I know you didn't see it. Green Bay packers traded up to get a quarterback. The kid from Utah Mean. What does that mean rodgers? So that means he's hit the so he he's on the back three the back nine of his career going. He's going to be around that much longer than him. The coach hate each other. Leflore hate each other. So that means the management was like Oh. He's a little older even though they were one game away from the Super Bowl. Yeah instead of giving in Rogers help now. Let's get a replacement for 'em how crazy is that? So they are not replacing Aaron Rodgers but they have strong backup. Well I mean if you draft a guy in the first round that means that's the future of your franchise so they're basically going to logist. Kid Sean show them all your tricks because take your spot and it word. That's the business. That's the oldest Aaron Rodgers thirty six. He had a good year last year. I mean it's not the same you know but one game away from the Super Bowl. Cool Story Bro. We're not going to be more weapons. That would probably use the super bowl or we're going to do is find your replacements. Receiver that game winning catch with ally manning when the giants ads tirade. But then he he didn't get but that's different in rogers the franchise right but they definitely have another for what for being receiver. There's better guy she did win. Taps this thing give you a career? Yeah I get you you want the Super Bowl. So it's worthless draft this kid Jordan. Love who two seasons ago was super baller than this pasture had a bad season. But he has all the intangibles. He's Kinda like a guy like an alley cat version. Patrick mahomes really a little bit. That's what they compare him to your Rogers. You're like what the we're wondering from the Super Bowl and were not draft on to help me out. Yeah well they want. They want him to be to to tutored by one of the best in the game. Here's the thing idea. And so he was this. Which interesting is Aaron Rodgers when he got drafted if you remember that? He's at the draft. Remember when they used to bring like the top of the draft? They'd film me because they thought you're gonNA early. And he got bumped down all the way you know remember that keep. I don't I don't know so He thought using a top ten pick didn't get drafted so the camera. Keep going to him. He just sitting there like this and had the biggest chip on the shoulder. So you can go like five real late embarrassing so you stopped by Green Bay Brett Farve at the time. Who's thirty six. A young Rogers comes and then Hey Brett farve show give all the tricks. Aaron Rodgers Word on the street is Brett. Marvel's a complete asshole now. It's not just yeah. They do have huge ego. Yeah well the right far. Wouldn't let when he was playing for the Vikings and the coast. Try to take them out of the game he he waved them off with Bravo. Yeah he's like no. I'm not I'm staying. Also has the stick pick of all time and his crops. Yeah Little Dick. As we said he was flirting with some girl. Front Office Chick Center plot he has crossed a little blood and then he must've just like hot. I don't know no in a cold. Cold cold up like a Colt. Tom went up at shoot. Like this. Pick crocs white white legs tiny sometimes when you've been wearing when you've been working out or you're in the water your Dick and balls are so are so disappointed so I would be somber so anybody me to just he's and he's kind of tight up and pointed it tight everything's Hind. Yeah it looks like a little Shitty Nub and then sometimes when you know things are working fat yes when I when I when I'm tired for every one of my body's tired my piece hangs fucking low it's blurred out there is there is no gosh. Is this where he's that's a bummer? Who's that girl seven there it is? Yeah crocs I'm more disappointed in the crocs then crosses the Dick is also disappointing. But like the crocs unforgivable. That's bomber I ca-. He's one of my favorite American so I wanted to take to be impossible. He goes all Randall. Randy guitars is way better. Yeah I just I would. I would just like to have a giant dawn. Who knows maybe just like chilling the? Yeah it's fine. I I prefer to believe that's not as let's just get it out of here please. "Somebody. Excuse me. The love fades away and the money. Never does. Never does. John Neil, young states. And I quote Randy handed expanded mind from the beginning. What do you think he meant by that? And what did you learn about Randy and his expanded mind making this film? Well, the the the statement is is in reference to the the at the time in the nineteen sixties of heavy drug use in in music that you know, it's it's right smack in the middle of of discussion about Iraqi staying clean when everybody else was was high and drunk, basically and. That's the way that Neil answers questions. Basically. It's for him. It's a really simple answer. There was no drugs for Randy. Because Randy hadn't expanded from the beginning. It sounded to me like a rainy was always out there. He didn't need drugs. Yeah. I wasn't there. But I do I do believe that he you know, he had it. The the thing that everybody looks for whether it be escape or higher meaning or connection or whatever I think it's there when he picks up the guitar ready. So why would he why would he reconcile for it right now? Randy did you ever experiment with drugs? Nope. Never never never know to smoke at. So I never smoked enough. Gotta gate we smoke it. Yeah. Gonna try drafts or something never did that I drank a little bit with Burton Cummings in the guests who I made a poodle myself at the. I guess who party when Chad Allen was leaving coming joining and I drink some vodka with Burton. I went outside and drove over my own foot with a car, which is very easy to do. And everybody Winnipeg in Winnipeg. And not in California. But sure in Winnipeg I could see that. Yes. So the car the left wheel the cars on my foot, and I'm half sitting in the car and my left leg out under the wheel of the car. And I'm lucky because I'm backing up over my Clinton one might have puts on the break. The here's the Lauren comes out of the hosts out of the party is my father. So he pulls me out of the car, and he puts it into park and throws me slow Bank. And he says you're drunk under Chaim to call you my son. I never drank from that day forward. And that was way before I joined the church. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You didn't join the church until I didn't go to a party. And I'd see guys. I had a great a good girlfriend in Ben Cooper into party. Somebody put something in her drink. What it was? I was LSD. She had a connection in a bit. She was called emergency services. She went into a coma. She died a week later. And that's why I wrote she's come done for that for that girl. Don't parties guys take acid. They opened the window jump out of a third story window saying I can fly and land on a car phone booth and break their back their neck, and I don't want. This is insane. I don't wanna do this. So I never did it. Right. Right. Right. Well, it sounds like you didn't need to you know. I it like you. I read a ton of these rock and roll books, and there's a couple of takeaways that I almost always find in that is aid for one. There was no other plan. It's there is no plan b it is just this this or die be that most musicians or somewhere are nerds in some way, shape or form. Yup. And and it sounds like, you know, you've hit you've hit the both of those in in spades. Okay. So act too is brave belt in into b-t-o. A get a Ken chat. Alan is brought into follow the country rock music that was happening at the time. And I think rainy think you kind of had a discussion with Neil young at the time and Neil say trying to do something completely different than what you were doing with with the guests who at the time. And so you know, that country rock things seemed to be where things were going, but the that morphs very quickly because I think I think break belt lasts about a year. And then it morphs into this rock Rockin roadhouse, one of the greatest rock and roll bands, ever Bachman Turner overdrive in Chad Allen, kind of falls out and Fred Turner's in. And I find it interesting in a John this is. Something I grab from your film was that both act seemed to require a unique voice to complement. Randy's guitar, you know, Burton Cummings one of the greatest emotional tenors, technically perfectly vocalists in rock and roll. And Fred Turner, who's like a lumberjack with a big giant deep baritone growl the match is that a fair can comparison.

"Being brothers and sisters. Yeah. And and I know Randi that you know, you your life turn from black and white to color on the the night. You saw the Beatles for the first time, I think it was on Ed Sullivan, right? Yeah. Yes. Yeah. And so I like many of us, you know, you know, the alpha and omega of you know, this thing we call rock and roll begins an ends with the Beatles. So that that's no surprise. But you feel this presence that you know, kind of follows you around and helps you achieve these these sort of esoteric goals, which is you know, making art. Yeah. Ever made people say a little voice whispers in your ear. I don't know how that voices for most people. But for me is kind of always there, and I could even talk back to it. And it's okay these days because everybody's talking. The old days should see a guy in the street and be mumbling himself. And you go all that guy shell shocked or something? Everybody's talking himselves laughing. I was I was I did I did CBC noon show two days ago in LA. So I was on at noon and right across the street and CBS is a trader Joe's. So I went in there and at a C, Janet Jackson, and she's in disguise. But I know what she looks like without makeup baseball head on her ponytail. She shopping in there, and she's going. Hey, Hawar, you I think I think she's talking to me. But she's got the the ear buds the Iraq. I talked to her after back. It's you want straight by me without even seeing that I'm alive. That's the kind of thing that happens. Right. Right. John. So there are a lot of great moments with famous fans, most notably Neil young and Alex lights of rush who besides Randy and Molson are probably the greatest Canadian imports. Now, rainy, I know you're very close to Neil. You're practically grew up together. But there were some important missing characters, and I have to ask notably rainy brothers Robbie Tim Blair Thornton from BTO and Burton Cummings from the guests who why didn't they make it in the film? And I posed this question to both of you. I think John has to answer that I was part of pulling these guys together John did at all. And some of them were not available summer asked. And we're not available and literally joined the amazing job of traveling the whole world and getting people in Nashville in England in LA and everywhere he went, and it's very hard to get everybody together with their schedule and other. That's all I can say the rest is up to John. Yeah. Yeah, we tried. You know? Burgess said yes, they if you see him asking for me. Okay. So you tried and you got the the, okay. But it just never really happened. Which I knew. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because Fred's Turner's in there. You know, some great insights in there would would've loved to of heard what Burton had to say because they're those voices that fit. Randy's guitar. You know, so incredibly well. It was just to me. I was like, oh man that would have been cool. But that's just not the way these things work sometimes. So so I get it. So. Yeah. I I think of John had another year, and and then deduct would be two hours long. We could have got those guys in just a matter of getting up at the right time in place because John had a crew Aena to get people all over the world. We have to get these guys. He can't fly around the world helter skelter without a definite of okay. From these guys at even Neil young with still, and whether you wanna do that took four or five days of like waiting for him to feel in the groove and to call and say, okay, turn turn on the camera during it takes a while. I have to say a lot of ways it was a role of the dice. Neil did take up a sort of few months out of everybody being in the same place at the same time. It took a lot of sort of bureaucratic work. But, but then it took me a couple of days just waiting around inner city, you know, for him to be available. It's the only time I've ever done it in. Stuck shin where I stopped and held a crew waiting in waiting for the phone to ring. Paying a hotel Bill. It's the maybe the only time I'll ever do it again too. But, but then, you know, some of them were incredibly easy as well. Alex life's in from rush he walked off a stage from a soundcheck right up to me. And I shook his hand introduced myself. You know, saying, you know, what you be willing someday to do this interview for the film? It would meet a lot in. He said bats right now will just like turn the lights. Yeah. We great come with me as it happened. I was prepared for it. So I dragged him down into the basement where we're all set up in. We get right there. You never know. Right. At some of these guys were Princess like princes Frampton my God. Like, I I've never felt more welcomed while, you know, interviewing. Ios someone who he didn't eat an app to do that for me. But well, he did it for Randy. I know that's yeah. Even have to go to all the work. He did Demet, you know, to to to do this for me. But but he did. So I don't know sometimes you win. And sometimes you know when. Yeah. So like like most great stories the film is made up of three acts. It's obvious Rainey's. Life can be split between the first act of the guess who in the second act of BTO, but the third act really has no ending. So it's kind of more a work in progress. Yeah. What is what is the third act? I think that I think I think that's actually says that in the movie with the third. What is I mean, it's well, I mean definitive I should say. And here we are here. We are talking behind Randy's back again. But it it's not definitive. It's it's I it's like a it's like a lot of things. Yeah. We'll also it's still is still in progress could keep making third acts. I can't wait for the director.

There's a lot of there's a lot of time. I mean, sometimes in this game a loss will set you back two years. You You know, know? you just you can't afford to take them. And it's not it's not even that. I'm relieved that I got through him or he didn't beat me up. Like, I would eventually guess none of us give shit about getting beat up. But just the just the high stakes poker here, you know. And and in a loss could be devastating and nobody wants that shit. Yeah. When you get the bubble guts describing to what is the. I mean, are you scared of actually it's not? You're scared of getting hit. What is it that? Is it the the loss or the embarrassment of it, or what is it that makes you so nervous? It's all of the above. I call it just a roller coaster of emotion because you'll you're nervous because for the whole training camp. You you've even had moments of this guy beat me up. This guy knocked me out this way, or this guy could knock me out like that. Or this guy could submit me or do this. Yeah. You got your battling that feeling the whole time. He's he can't do that to me. But he did do it to this guy. He he might be able to do it. He knows how to do this. Well, so you battle with those feelings, and then it's like, you know, harms come in. There's no way around harm his right there in that case. But you gotta walk towards it. So you got that feeling in your stomach and you're like holy shit. I'm scared. I'm nervous. But how m- how excited I know? I train hard. I'm excited. You nervous your thousands of people in this arena screaming now, I it's that feeling of feeling like people deal with different way for me. I I figured out a way to hone all that because you can't get and you can't get too excited to 'cause you get so excited. You get in that case Bouma drilling. Dump right. Looked like he'd never trained the day in your life season for ultimate fighter. Joy saint-pierre was just before them. He was one of the guests teachers there, and he was talking the Randy guitar, and he was going talking about the prefight stuff like with now. And George would say Randy great accent goes telling how do you deal with the nerves every time in the locker room? I'm going. Why would I have a regular job? Why do I do this? And then he goes out and he fucking whips Haskins. Just like he mentioned when you get that relief. It's the only thing I can really compare it to if you've seen movies of. Serial killers like like, Mr..

"Ago when both those guys were in their prime, right? We all know that. But I think. In my personal opinion. I would not be surprised if Packie out one because if he did then there'd be a third fight, and it would be a trilogy, and there's just guys there's so much money involved here. Okay. Talking about thirteen hundred. Yeah. Yeah, they're not gonna no you're not gonna put Floyd's career on it. There's no way pack. So basically, what would Brian saying Mike after that he's gonna take the l like not not take the chance. Saying that there's going to be a one in lots Tomlin. May weather. I think it's a possibility. I think Floyd would probably be a huge favourite probably minus four hundred something a four to one favorite somewhere along those lines. But we had Freddie Roach on last week. And we've talked about this for a long time with Manny Pacquiao shoulder injury. And you know, Freddie, Roach said he didn't even want Pac L in the ring. And the only reason why Manny Pacquiao did it. Let's be honest for the paycheck. If Manny Pacquiao is one hundred percent healthy. And he's ready. I'm not sure that's the kind of guy Floyd Mayweather wants to fight right now. But I still think Floyd will take the fight because it is the one fight. He can get right now. I'm making one hundred billion dollars. What I'm seeing is. He's not they're not gonna he's not gonna lose the fight. He's now I'm not so sure about that. I'm not so sure about like, I watched him perform, look, I've I've seen him fight. A couple of really good fights here in the last few years. He looked really good now. Again, you're fighting Adrian Browner fighting ager Brunner funding Floyd Mayweather. It's like night and day flogging is going to go down is probably one of the best broder at a record of what three three and one Brown has been around for a long time. But I mean, he his last wasn't in his last four fights are six fights. I think it was like three three and one. Six points. He wasn't very good. But to complete he's an idiot. He's a racist you pick or choose the words for him. And he's not a great fighter. He's just not. We Floyd can still fight. But the longer this prolongs the older these two fighters get gotta get this done. And I know Chris you asked should these fighters fight somebody else? I I don't think that's going to happen. I think they're gonna fight in the next year. I think it's going to happen here in Vegas. It's not going to be. I'm Jim grant, it's going to be t mobile arena because it's been off for it's not like, you know, he fought two months ago. Right. Floyd Mayweather is gonna jump in the ring against Manny Pacquiao week with no tuna fight f given how long he's been out sport. Look man Floyd Mayweather trains harder than anyone else in the world. And I think he would be ready to go. But I think I think this would be a good fight. And as as bad as that. I fight was. And I was at that. I fight. I think this would be better fight. But for Jason imagine if you paid for it. I don't pay for. I know I know that would have been crazy things I made a lot of money. There's some things I paid for in the stabbing not even legal Nevada's this county right here. You have to go way to the the things I do pay for. We can't talk about on the air. You're absolutely right about that. She can ranch. I haven't paid for your show. We should ask them for some chicken ranch chicken ranch. Go, you know, it's funny. We have Richard hunter. He's great. He's great you should ever hunter. Yeah. Of course. I know a good guy. We know all those guys. Absolutely. And and you know, I enjoy funny. We were at the the football games. We're watching the game. It is. We were we were at the games at a friend's house, tears place and Randy guitar happened to be at the at this little party. We got to. Yeah. So we're learning how to play this game called. Hi, lo. I've never played it before my life. It's like a bar dice game. Right. And oh, I played with cards, you shirts outlets card now and it's a mid west game. So Mike Mike is we should be familiar with. But I was. Cards the dice game never played it before my life, Chris when never played before India's life. So this guy Steve here who's a really popular host town. He knows all these celebrity, friends and everything hot chicks at this party. Was it was nuts? It was fun. And Chris win ends up making it to the semifinals. And who's who is he playing against? He just destroys in this game. And that was Sunday. Right. Yeah. I was with Randy on on Saturday night. Qatar has the tap out. Kris.

Diet west. Yeah. Like, it's dying wish slim have it. God stop. I mean, I'm sorry. Bob days Lii is that right? Yeah. Not easily as -ly. He wrote the lyrics. To like classic songs like crazy train. And like they've been very like weird with them. The original concept for that album. Was it was the band was supposed to be called blue featuring Ozzy Osbourne. Well, when it came out the lizard of is and it was an Ozzy album. And. The rest is kind of history the main Stein just stop give in just send him that record price. I it will anybody. I don't know. What's wrong with lady? That's just that's I'm sorry. That's fucked up. It's just wrong. You know, the rich. I mean. Ozzie very well managed like he's fucking rich. He's not.
