"Starts tonight in san diego. Do the dodgers lose a game this weekend. There and two on the year. Do they lose. They have walker bieler going tonight. Clayton kershaw go tomorrow. Trevor bauer go and sunday. Do the dodgers lose a game. This weekend heads yes tales. No call it near. let's see yes. I think they lose one two three john williams on this. No they don't lose a game. Come on. I will defer to you knowing vantage coming with that. What do you got all right. Well there was a story this morning. That really caught by. Dwayne wade has purchased a minority ownership stake in the utah jazz. Okay i was like wayne. Wait you how he know. Okay dwayne wade has developed a friendship with the new utah. Jazz owner ryan smith over the last couple of years. He basically recruited him to join the jazz and he's going to be active in in in the jazz ownership group. He's actually in salt lake city today on the sidelines. What came out right afterwards. Though the heat owner micky arison tweeted. I want to congratulate dwayne on his recent announcement. We have discussed having him join our ownership group after his retirement but he was not prepared to commit at that time. of course. i am disappointed that he didn't reconsider. Having said that i wish him. Good luck and much success with the jazz to me. Dwayne will always be heat lifer john. What is behind micky arison tweets. I think he he did a preemptive. This makes me look bad to wayne. Weight is associated with the heat forever. I want to get out in front of it. I always think that's a smart. Move like this and ramona's me personally. I think that if. I'm dwayne wade. And i had an equal chance to join either the jazz or the heat. I also would have gone to the jazz in. Here's why this isn't just about ownership. It's about what role you would get atlay in miami. It's a dictatorship pat. Riley is the only guy who gets to make decisions that's it. He has absolute unilateral authority. On everything i think he'd probably have a gm. I have no idea ellsberg idea who he is or what he looks like. Because andy ellsberg is not making any final decisions that is all pat riley. He has randy fund. The old laker coaching was the gm down there for a while and it was like he went into the witness protection program. I never heard or saw randy. Because if you're working for pat riley it's kind of like being the defensive coordinator for bill beleta. You don't need you in utah. I would imagine this owner ryan smith and their gm. Dennis lindsay are gonna let to wayne weighed in on all these meetings. They're gonna let him make decisions and have an active role. I personally don't think he would have had that opportunity in miami. How about you. I agree. And i think in miami he would have been kinda alonzo. Mourning mourning has a little ownership share their And he is more ceremonial like. He's he's there he does. He does a lot for the team. He's kind of goes to events. But sometimes john you know this from your career so you have to leave the place that made you famous. People see you differently. Sure and i think dwayne is a budding media. Mogul i think he has an overall content deal at warners right at a time warner He's always on tnt show. This is a big platform for him to to be to be part of an ownership group of a really good team by the way and ryan smith is sort of progressive young dynamic owner in the nba. I think he's forty two so they met on a golf course. A couple years ago have developed a real friendship and business relationship. And so i think that's an absolute coup for the utah jazz to bring a guy of dwayne. Wade's credibility in and steal them away from miami. I mean you know. Dwayne has mr mr. Miami's the miami heat. He's he's then he could have been an owner there but he wouldn't have any say. Actually he would be more ceremonial. And i don't think he's interested in ceremonial at this point. And i wouldn't be either if i wanted if i had ownership might want to have a voice in it so i think that's what's behind that all right. It's to me ramona. I always say that if you ever want to get to the truth follow the money. Okay so michael. And i are banned from even betting fake money on nba games when you sign a contract for an nba team. You cannot bet on anything that has to do with an nba game. It's completely against the rules. But i always like to kind of keep an eye on what vegas thinks and today a social media site called sports betting dime it provides basically gambling info listed. Who's favored to come out of the east and west. Okay as of right now today. So let's do the west. I who do you think right now in vegas is favored to come out of the west and make it to the nba. Finals lakers lakers plus when fifty. Five who second clippers clippers or second. Who's third utah. Utah very good. And how about four four. I would say let's go with phoenix. Phoenix is right fourth. The fifth one was a surprise. I don't think you'll get the fifth one you have. Yeah dallas is good and i would have said denver but they just lost jamal murray. So that's just tweeted the. There's some early optimism that the ankle sprain. Don mitchell is not a major injury. Good doesn't mean is not going to miss him games. But but that's good that it's not a major injury all right. How about the east who's favored to come out of the brooklyn brooklyn is favourite. Who sec ellie correct. Two's third milwaukee right and forth is you know is the field really could bet on one of those field said boston. They look pretty good. Yeah i'd probably take brooklyn there but who knows sixers who've had like in the fourth spot odds to win it. All who's favored in vegas lakers the nets really. Yeah plus to ninety lakers plus four thirty. Who's third philly clippers clippers. Yeah sing o central right. Who's fourth philly box box. Apparently they don't think philly can get past the net. So it's interesting isn't it. yeah i would. I would always at the lakers. Because people from la go to vegas all the time to bet so people wanna bet on the lakers and it's actually they probably should be second or third considering their injury concerns. And it's kind of a suckers bed if them first because the laker fans would just bet on them. No matter what odds you give them wanna give him the worst odds right All right it's to you all right Okay so japan's inability to contain the covid nineteen pandemic means that plans to hold. The olympic games in tokyo should be reconsidered health. Experts wrote in.

"I'm pleased that you mentioned cleveland exit. Because i've got a little bit of audio. Don't wanna play for you from the documentary. The secret life of plants and the secret life of plants is It's always a little bit dated now. but mike. there's this one scene where he's describing some of his experiments cleave baxter as i said. Was this guy that was working for alphabet agencies. cia fbi. He was a world renowned expert in the the polygraph technique. So a guy that's not going to be getting into plant consciousness implant intelligence and he had that experience where he realized that. There's something to this but what he was worried about and like a good scientist. He was concerned that he's emotions and thoughts may have all because he worked at very early that the plants picking up on something. It's like reading his mind so he had to get out all the the lab to run these tests and so running these tests in this documentary which linked to it just starts playing like dysfunc- town music showing him walking around in seventies while in the background cuts back to his lab in the lab. What he was doing is he wanted to test whether or not the plants would respond to death and he took a brine shrimp and he put brine shrimp into a cop and below the copy put boiling water and the cop was set on a timer and the time. Oh would go off. Obviously the cup would turn and it would throw the brine shrimp into the boiling water and he wanted to see if the plant would pick up on that and it did when he was out of the office the time it went off the planet going crazy. Because he's brian shirt. Madine demonstrating that. It could pick up on this something. That was occurring like a plant wasn't sent or a plant didn't have receptors. How is it responding in this way so this was dismissed at the time and in reality. It's still dismissed today but fortunately more research is willing to be open to the possibility that there is some type of plan sentence there is a a change seems to be occurring with a number of scientists in the nineteen eighties. There was a scientist by the name of randy funds and he worked with a man with worked intellectual physiology. His name was Dr think it was norman goldstone and what he did is that they tried to replicate the experiments in a similar fashion but they tried to rule out any type of interference put motion sensors in that. Put the plant in a faraday cage the try to eliminate any type of variables and what that is put the plant next to a guy. That was sean all these images. I hoped him up to a A polygraph they hoped the tree up to a polygraph and they wanted to see if they would sink. And so what this test subject. This guy was. Charen was images of green rolling fields. You know just things that will tree based and plant based it was all lovely and now the polygraphs moved was fine and then they showed the scene of an entire field of trees being blown apart by a nuclear explosion. All the i holy out so somehow even though the plan couldn't see the imagery it picked up on the emotion all the man that was watching those those images even for him. He didn't really respond to it too much. Either he did a little bit. Because it's still has this nights response this feeling. You have saying things being destroyed but the plant because it was. It's kim in a way not couldn't handle it but sadly again not not really much happened but around the same time what was being taken very seriously was plant sentence in the u. s. They will looking deeply into this research. Which is just amazing. The fact that western science was dismissing but the russians like well. We need to find out what's going on. didn't they. use it to into terrorists at some stage. There's a whole range of things that were conducted gerard the experiments in the us esau essentially tried to replicate cleave backs his research. And what they did though is that they connected up to. I think it was a device would convert the signals into sound so that it could actually here. I'm going gonna play a little bit of audio for you. Listen to the sound of the background now. The sound is essentially hooked up to the plant and the plant is responding experiments that are being conducted so in one of the experiments what they do is they take a cabbage plant. Am i hook it up to one of these devices unipolar. Another cabbage place. It right in front of the plant. They then take a knife and starts slicing up the cabbage. Listen to it. go crazy. Office research conducted in the soviet union leads scientists to believe that plants may think attached a delicate electronic instruments.

"And. This was always funny to me though too is like people talk about. Like the Lakers like they just fell off Wei Green retired and I I'm of the belief that if nothing happens the magic. That they'll they'll continue on being in the mix for the I don't think anyone was beating the bulls, but at least would have been in a mixed floor. The title runs for years to come. I. Totally believe that. Charles Barkley would have ended up on the Lakers and magic didn't retire yet will didn't tell site that he thought he was tried at the. People like He. John. He did after magic retired in any kind of fell through but I think the Lakers would have been more willing to throw in a lot more the parents to together. Now now you're talking I mean this is you know obviously it's A. Major hypothetical but now you're talking. Magic. In and bought Sir Charles Maybe have one or two finals against. Yeah. It's Michael, Jordan Scottie Pippen I. Mean I think those would have been classics or even the Conference Finals with the Blazers it. Came back the next year we got blazers in and. Lasers and Lakers for rematch You know there's a ton of things. It's also interesting before the Barclay. Trade. I remember after the Suns beat, they beat the Lakers in nineteen ninety and I got back when sporting news was a thing. got a sporting news preview right as a kid, and they had two sons team in the nineties. They were predicting the suns before they Barkley like they were like, Tom Chambers, K J, Xavier mcdade, like all these guys. And that they were, they were going to be the team of the nineties and Hornacek. Forgot about, Hornacek. The Marley, all those guys they're going to be the team in the nineties and then the next year. The Lakers get to the finals and beat the Blazers and then the next year. The Blazers getting the final. So until the Barclay trade, they were kind of underachieving regard well, and I almost blew it completely ninety-three to i. mean they made the finals but down to To the Lakers, the one vist sightsee and. That That would have just been one of the biggest upsets of all time. If got because I think James Worthy they are you probably know this better than me but was James Worthy coming off the bench at that point? He was he was coming off the bench at that point because they had they had Let's see for ninety, three, the dial three and yeah. But but trying to think it AC definitely started. I I don't remember if we're I'm pretty sure where they came off the bench in that series lawyer I they. They try any it's worthy had one of the fastest drop-offs ever like he was he was an all star ninety two, the first year that magic missed and the ninety three it was like he had his bench role. Or part time started part time ventral and the ninety four. Ninety four he barely played. And then he came back for the ninety five Training camp in was like I can't go. I'm. An eight able. It's like that was his thirteenth year. Yeah. That's what I talk about with with players. You know with the medical staff in travel and everything else versus now like a guy like him plays twenty years. Well I think one thing with that. Though is I guess he played finals. Are Locked Yeah like seven times in those things. And then other times you might the conference finals Seasons doesn't sound all that many probably ended up playing the equivalent of of sixteen or seventeen. Just, all playoff games which side which is incredible about. When you think about magic in intake in five years off between the diagnosis and and coming back in ninety six and still being like thirty six years old outgassing, five years and still be good like I. Yeah. Yeah. It wasn't one of the best players in the league but he was he was still really good at that point. You would just think like there's no way. And cream as well. You know like Green Played Twenty Years Albany Finals Naturally went to nine and twelve years. Kareem ended up with eight over that or that period it was basically eighteen years so. That's that's a lot. That's a lot of basketball man Someone is telling us that that like is starting up I'm guessing from ninety three was Nick. Vanik. Lynch Okay Gotcha Gotcha and then Doug Christie Anthony. So and that was Randy Fund. I think was the coach to at the time the because he rent Randy Randy Fund, was the the ninety three coach. He any. He lasted another half season in Johnson Gober and then yeah. Yeah so but yeah, but Nick Nick wasn't on that ninety. Wells Nick wasn't on that ninety to ninety three team you thinking of your thinking of ninety, three, ninety, four it. Was rafted yes. Adele was the star Sydell isn't starter. It was just matter. If And Lynch was the first round pick in ninety, three, ninety, four. For Ninety S, for ninety three. By Christie Appeal. Team for sure they were on the bench. They kept I remember that series that kept fish founding each other. but yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I A man that was that was crazy. Bull westworld courses wanted says. We're GONNA win this year it I mean of course he's GonNa. He's not going to say we'RE GONNA, lose it but then they do come back I ain't gonNA come back off losing I to harm anyway and get in that series ran and the next season the the sonics at the same thing happened to go. Yeah. I, feel like you might see a little bit more of that if we had. Basically with a seven game series, you feel like the best team always wins unless there's major injury or whatever with a five game series there's that chance that. An upset can happen and we we saw a lot of that in in that time period at George Karl on this saying two months or something like that. Until two ballot Nah he's he's got a sense of humor about it now but I think want sixty four games that season he's like man Kim by was to good he said robot I think it wasn't gang fall I've won that game them to coming off the bench. which is something that he just likes to. Go just has game and he and he's playing. Well, it's like sometimes there's not much you can do it so. Yes it's it's interesting. It's a is. Definitely was a team. But. It's another of those examples in the nineties where you didn't have a center except for the Bulls Bowls recounted exception because they had MJ but if you didn't have a center I, want you weren't weren't really in play like the the sonics ran into the candidate and they had nobody that can combat him Shawn Kemp was a power forward but he wasn't really he wasn't really a rim-protector traditional rim-protector big GonNa. Get every single rebound block every shot all of that. That was so important in the nineties and and. DENVER. Had that they had a lot of size and a lot of versatility in and that was a fun series to watch I was mad though because. I DIDN'T ENJOY IT ENJOY UTAH VERSUS DENVER. I didn't enjoy the the rockets versus Utah. I would've I would've rather had seattle you know through yeah. beat the jazz versus the Sonics would have been an incredible series in. I'm pretty sure Hakim WanNa destroy the rockets but still I mean seeing destroy the Sonics still we're good to see that series we'll be back with more pop packed with Nigerians right after this. This next one. Now, this guy was a big college, Playa and he was actually. One of the most famous upsets of all time happened in ninety two but it was a game that didn't really happen. Vapin added Monaco. And this guy, this guy was the point off the team that upset the Dream Team. The only time, the Dream Team ever lost. And this guy was. Hanging onto the happening Monica, we didn't happen I. Can't remember. But anyway, it's famous because this the. Time Dream Team the original Dream Team lost was the very first game I think I played..

"Patrick. Mahomes the best we've ever seen at the position. Let's move on. Miami Heat or in the finals storylines Galore storylines everywhere for you none. Bigger I don't think to God's then the question of. Who wants it more? Does and this is the top of the food chain on who wants it more. The question I'm posing to you and the audience is this. Does Lebron James Want to win the championship as much as Pat Riley wants to deny him the championship. That is who wanted a more question that I have for you because this is all the things that brought Lebron here in Riley's mind to the building of an organization that could support you to win your first championship. Against not man I got it I'll do it myself. I'm the best there's ever been. there are two people in this series. And only two who think. They're the best. There's ever been. because. You got one executive who has done it in the finals across six decades and dion waiters. Dion. Did you guys think I was talking about? Dr. Jr. Smith Yeah no I thought the waiters was was where you're going. So yes. I want you imagine the outrage that would just basically scorched the soul of Pat Riley. If Dion waiters was holding up that trophy at the end of the season, I told Zach Lowe. The story recently, can you guys stop? Stop distracting me. The radio show I know what you were doing my your. Boxing. Each other out to try and get to the waiters Jr Smith Joke I saw what you're doing now stop doing. Job Party. Proud of it. I be out quickly on a raise in a sprint last week and he has no, let go of it and he is kicking my butt this week. You are you're both like mellow when he grabs rebounds in just yells at Everybody F. Oh. You're both like that. and. It wasn't good enough joke. It was an okay job the waiters jokes, but again. You have to understand something dion waiters created a shame for the Miami Heat Organization. This runs counter to the heat way by passing out on a plane because of an edible. Yeah. Culture. Well and he was fined a lot toward the end. He would just taking money from him wherever could. It was basically, he was being fined for being dion waiters but I love what you've created here. This is not so much about the heat winning a championship for Riley as it is about denying Lebron a championship that's why I keep saying it will feel like winning two championships down. Let's let's cover some of this stuff so that you guys understand what the history is here because there's basketball history here there's personal history here. The the stories are rich in terms. Of some of the stuff we're talking about. So you look back in time and this decade has been dominated by Lebron. He's turned espn an infomercial for the things that he does of the last ten years ever since we got into bed with him making television show that made him go from a even from child famous to superstar famous to infamous too big star in sports, the Michael Jordan of our time supported by the worldwide leader in sports that just. Can't get enough of him for ten bleeping years and over those ten bleeping years Pat. Riley was a part of the first half end Lebron James and Pat Riley had basically what you saw happen at the end with Brady and Belichick well, who's responsible for this or we in this together it's it. Are we responsible together as a team boom? It breaks up Lebron Says No, I want because of me because I came into my prime and Pat Riley on. The other side saying yeah. But you weren't posting up Jj Berea. When you got here, you had to add to your game and you had to learn some of the things that got learned that you know Shane. Batty tells us that Hassan whiteside gets out there after they WANNA championship and he's laying down on the court after sprints and a bunch of champions are coming in picking them up and say, no, this is how we do it over here. You're embarrassing us. So Lebron Says No I. Don't need this culture I've learned what I need to learn. You thought player empowerment was two thousand and ten. I'M GONNA show you player empowerment I'm going to leave again and I'm going to win a championship and I'm GonNa create my defining moment in Cleveland I'm going to do the thing in Cleveland that sort of excuses me for being three and six in the final on a bill that team up that boosted its assets that they got directly from you for fifth year I didn't actually sign up for and To recruit against you the Cleveland cavs only had the pieces to get Lebron James because they were such a disaster as an organization after Lebron James left doing things like signing Luol Dang because they thought they were a piece away. They then had Andrew Wiggins to trade for Kevin Love, Mike you don't sound bitter at all. I. Am Bid Imagine if Mike Spindler a matter imagine how Pat Riley feels now now go back. Okay. At the end Peres got to re recruit him and he's he's he's signs like Josh mccown robbed. US and Danny granger. I. Forgot the Grainger want. Say IT wrong. Tony. Josh MC robbed us is what they call him around the heat organization like that's how they were going to bring Lebron back Danny Granger and John Josh Mic rob does yes and just keep in mind how personally. Lebron took, why did this offseason where they were all waiting around for decision and the only thing left there was Danny Green and the Lakers are weaker for it. Lebron tried to do that with Miami because you of feared this day would come and if it wasn't for blood clots, what came a lot sooner and so here we are though Greg. Cody here we are with the story lines of the I. Want you guys to understand when it comes good Lord during a pandemic to sort of think about your mortality where Pat Riley for years has been talking about wanting to retire but the Games got a grip on him that so much part of his identity, and here he is in his mid seventies and the world upside down that he can't even physically get close to his team because he's in the demo that's dangerous when it. Comes to this stuff and there are protocols and he built what it is that you see out there Eric's bolster because that organization is filled with loyals, loyalists and lifers. If you leave your out your excise whether you randy funds, Stan, Van, Gundy, your excise, you are not in a relationship with Pat Riley. Anymore if you are not a member of the Miami, still can't talk to Larry Bird and Michael Jordan because of the war they had four decades ago although I have a feeling if Lebron wanted to come back, PAT would welcome him back I mean, okay. Fair enough. But that's not what we're talking about today way to go to a take that you've used many times last. Once you leave. You can't come back unless you're Lebron..

"Are the ones who got in like in the Shack Koby era and thought well this is going to be dynasty forever in this always be winning. Team is the new Patriots and then you have people like me. Locals who have sat through fucking desert droughts of like the Randy Fund era right after Pat Riley to del Harris and those other coaches and I was like for a while I was like I like the Lakers well we don't win or whatever fuck it also too but the people who like are so gassed pasta where they're just like the Lakers are you know infallible and they should be the greatest team and they need to be here and Blah Blah Blah Blah. He's other teams like it's too. It's not realistic realistic and I guess that's what it is to if you're not if you can't be I mean look obviously being a fan of a team is your you can't really be objective yeah but at least understand like where the where we're at in this sort of evolution of the team then yes and then and then to the argument that I hate well like I hope to win. Shit for long is whenever they throw throw out like the man we guests sixteen championships mass six those championships came before people knew how to dribble a basketball like I don't know about them championships from the forties and fifties and sixties George Making Watch Mike and get crossed the fuck of Minneapolis Lakers get Outta here man true that that's where some of the people on the court ten championships came during a magic era and Tan came during the Kobe era and those are the ten tin that are added the other six related and find the showtime. I mean sorry five and five which makes ten right like the other six. Was Them George Mike In Years. The Jerry West isn't that that teams look good also suck bad a rings earrings though brings it rings on like I don't want to hear the sixteen like the whole twenty-seven a Yankees Championship twenty seven rings brow like don't i. I'm not counting any championship before black people were allowed to play baseball change range basketball too. It's like a black people in the league and at the N._B._A.. Yeah I do directly for white people do after say since you were talking about drafts and Lakers History Lakers have the shortest droughts sure like even after Pat Riley like magic took the Lakers to the finals against everyday lose to Jordan did yeah but then when the Bulls were like in last place for a number of years the Lakers head Koby and shack and when it's just I guess more like my expectation. I don't get fucking angry like I feel like the fucking world owes me a ring or something where I think people. That's a function of the dynasties that have existed yeah where I'm like. Yes Shit Ebbs and flows right so when it's fucking for me I get nervous when I see all these like if we got Hawaii I was going to be more nervous because the Lakers don't do great when the when the roster on paper looks really good typically those have been some awful fucking team I mean they're granted. Kobe shacks different but like the fucking Karl Malone Gary Payton fucking fiasco or Steve Nash Dwight Howard I remember at the time I was like here we go brain and I was like Oh boys got molly watt <music> but a no superstar pissed weird team g alright. Let's take a quick break and we'll be right back with some non N._B._A.. Conversational geico presents eyewitness interviews.

So it doesn't matter. I'm not gonna go to Marlins park just to eat bean show factory because I can do that factory. And I don't have to pay for the name of the stadium. Honestly, I wanted to be insured Mitchell park. I know what you mean. It's hard for franchise to survive in terms of fiscally. It's hard for them to survive in the face of twenty years of losing or a really long sustained period. The Marlins actually haven't had twenty years of losing. There were quite all right in the mid two thousand but they had their other issues. But when I was interning for the Panthers during a lockout, Michael your Mark was turning stuff over and selling things like crazy. You can't have just bad s sales people. I mean look at look at seven ninety survived. I mean, su- God's was taking all sorts of deals even though like early on it probably shouldn't have. So there there are ways around it and Bauer certainly looked the part. I can't wait for David Samson and join us because I'm sure you know, some sort of inside information on what's happened here. And he wouldn't be he won't hesitate at all to tell us. He's he's definitely the fair. One to talk on this. And also ask them what what what the deal is with Michael hill. Because I mean, he didn't he do these trades? Who wasn't any do the Brinson deal? Who was it? Was it David Samson made the joke that he had pictures? Didn't we ask somebody about wise, Michael hill still there? He must have pictures. Wasn't that the joke? Someone may not real though. Oh, it's a joke. But that's like the his point was is. I have no idea. Why is there? It's baffling. It is baffling given that, you know, this organization had I mean kids have executives called Larry buying fest. Uncle Larry like he was family to that team. And they got rid of it would happen. The Larry by says what happened to Larry festive? What had happened to Randy fund? Yeah. What happened rainy fund? I think I think Randy fund didn't want to be working with Riley anymore. Because there was there were some issues over not having any real power by festival. So I think what it is. But I I have not talked. I've literally just overheard that in a couple of places I haven't confirmed that please try to find out what had happened to Randy fund in Michael. And Michael Hill's defense, though, this team has had acquired drafted talent throughout the years. It's not like a hundred and sixty two draft rounds. I I'd hope to God that was saying some Mike Michael hill is not like terrible at evaluating talent that we just haven't been able to keep any aren't these trades port of evaluating who knows who's really making all the decisions on these traits. Well, that's the thing. We're sort of puzzled as soo- who's making the decision. So it really makes it difficult to blame somebody. So I guess when they fire Michael hill as a as a sort of sacrifice to the masses. Then I guess we'll just play Michael hill. We'll take the word for or could it be that the very beginning. This. They told Jeter, hey, you should keep someone around to be a fog like what's more realistic of the two things. I just said that they actually respect it. Look, it might not have been pretty here throughout the years. But this guy knows and can evaluate talent or jeeter. You're going to need a fog. I if it has to be one of those two things I imagine that being like the closed door meetings at Loria and Samson had would Geeta were Jeter s so any sort of advice for me on the way out. Yeah, you're gonna need a fall guy. In fact, you're going to need several I loved that around. I love that as his business card instead of, you know, general manager president, just Michael hill. Fall got twenty seventeen July twenty seventeen he got a contract extension through twenty twenty. So I mean,.

"And he was the lead guy. No question. Okay. Not shack. He was the lead guy in winning a championship in his third season. And then never had that opportunity again. Right because the championship team crater. They bottomed out in Seminole eight to try to get there at rose. They didn't get rose. They got Beasley that didn't work out. Wayne second-best player if you look I think it was the oh eight oh nine playoff series. If you look at that. It's like Dwayne average thirty three in the next highest scoring player on the team with Beasley with pen. Like, they just they didn't you know for all of the talk about Riley's mastery. They didn't get him any help, right. Chains. Riley maintains that was because they they were focused on ten at that point. Like, they knew aftershock that that was focus. And it works, right? I mean, I don't think they thought it was gonna play out. Exactly how it played out. But it it works and then going, and they also didn't think Michael Beasley would be as big a bus as he ended a correct, right or Randy fund would still be there. Right. But, but yeah, I mean, I think if you look at two thousand ten you know, and and that I you know, Dwayne was the best player for a lot of that year. Oh, listen, they would've had a second finals MVP. They would've beat Dallas in eleven yet. Dwayne was their best player for the postseason except for the Chicago series. He was not he was not good in the Chicago series. But he was their best player. Dallas. He was their best player in the first round against philli. He was their best player for most of the second round series against Boston. And so he would have a right. He would have had a second finals MVP. I think he would be evaluated a little differently. Then I think there would be more of a conversation of putting him closer to Kobe. And I know I've crunched numbers on this. I I mean there. There. If you just go by the metrics, there aren't many numbers that Kobe better than Dwayne longevity. I think plays a factor. Well, yeah, longevity. But here's the thing about longevity Vom jeopardy. Kobe's lasts four years weren't really 'cause they weren't. I mean, well his last year specifically, I mean, Tom average Joe alluded to this. He was arguably the worst player in the league. Right. And he was a second piler at that point. That's all okay. And so you know, I was waiting better than Kobe. I'm not gonna make that argument. But I do think that people would be surprised if you just if you do the per hundred possession comps, okay? Or the per thirty six minutes, you know, taking a standardized number instead of just looking at the total numbers per minute per possession. Dwayne was as a -ffective is Coby and in some ways was more effective. And so I think that if he wins a second MVP if they win that championship gets Dallas that near you. Now, you can say male. They win the championship against Dallas in in eleven. I'm not talking about six I'm talking. About eleven then maybe they don't come back with the same hunger in twelve you. Don't know what's going to happen. Right. Because obviously, not winning eleven inspired. Lebron like he changed his routine. You brought an immediate guy to help them all the things that LeBron did and that's been well chronicle, but if they win in two thousand eleven eleven against Dallas and Dwayne went the second EP there were having a different conversation about him. If he stays healthier the last two years of the big three era. But again, you know, they if right, but then we would be having a different conversation. If Chris Bosh doesn't get sick. And maybe the heat in two thousand sixteen right where Dwayne head you know, the game against the purple shirt guy. And they take Toronto to seven games they probably win that series if boss there, and who knows what happens against the Brown, and Cleveland, they had played the calves really tough. They had a bunch of wing defender. So at least bothered LeBron do they win the series, probably not. But I would have given them an opportunity. So I think that there are some what if was weighing..

"No. You did. That is a remarkable prediction because he has not been injured for his whole career yet. And now it looks. Like the wheels are coming on wheels come on fan. But do say I will make my two hundred dollars. What happened do we bet? Well, would you bet a hundred dollars at the legs are gonna make the fourth seat? Got one hundred dollars. But I bet him one hundred dollars at the wolves will end with a better record all. So that's what's happening right now. Right now, the wolves are ahead by one game. Wow. Am I think you could be the two hundred. I mean, I could also see some kind of late late season push. Yeah. From the Lakers. That'll be I I know. But what what does he have Chris Bosh SE's? Exactly. Oh, he does. Yeah. Wait, the blood clopping? He does shoulder debate thrombosis. So if you'd like is his career in jeopardy, apparently, it's only an eleven percent chance of being career. Right. Right. Very very low, which sucks, Chris Bosh. But like, I mean at this point he was never gonna come back anyways. So there is a turf he could come back. But I don't know. He's definitely not coming back this year. Yeah. I think again, it's funny because you know, I'm I'm from LA. I've I'm a lifelong Lakers fan, and I've been through terrible terrible spells being a Lakers fan. And I was also one of the people who like if when LeBron was gonna come. I wasn't convinced that that would work because we have a terrible history of super established superstars coming over and changing the force. Since shack shack was the last time. It was someone who was established a huge star came to the Lakers, and like it worked out even that. And then inflames worked pretty well for you guys. So yeah Korean. But I think that's a different, you know, era. You guys get like the generational like kind of decade defining free agencies. And then anytime it's not that. Yeah. I got through the fuck in Randy fund years rock and Bill burqa Del Harris, you know, what I mean, Kurt Rambis even for a little bit. So I'm just sorta like Lakers are shit right now. I'm not as like incense. There's other people in my veins yet. That's why for me. I'm not like a I'm not a shitty like obnoxious Laker fan. So like, it's not and also I don't like Kobe. So I'm like a rarity. I'm like one of the few people who wanted to trade him the second. I saw that. He was not the same person in here. But anyway, that's what's so wild about this whole like you go this Lakers heaping is at all these people who are down and depressed, they weren't Lakers fan until this McCain, right? Yeah. And that's what made me so mad was like, you know, hearing Neil, tell me, man. Who's from Chicago that the Lakers are going to be a four seed. Yeah. When they're starting centers travailed McGee and Rondos are starting point guard. He's looking at me in a fucking I What going. are they going to be a fourth seat? I write a right there with him being wrong about that. Well, you know what? Because I I'm going to every podcast I've ever been on and off. Yes. A victory tour podcast. I told you I was gonna come here and be S agree the oracle. It's been wonderful having you here where where can people find you? You know, what I'm not gonna plug my Twitter or my Instagram. "He's got a lot of great moments in like Antoine, my relationship with Dwayne I it's a little bit different because I was a season ticket holder for the heat and a friend of the heat, Pat Riley Randy fund travel with them. I was on the court when Dwayne way one is first championship. So a lot of people like oh, man. Lebron matey mature no not did that do dominated the NBA finals? It was unbelievable of how he grew his game and took over the core as a kid and being on the court watching him how he played the game plays the game the right way. And since he's had some struggles he had to leave. My EMMY sandy the owners of the team they never thought the winning wait. They have lifers in Miami. Lonzo morning men house lem Dwayne way like these are life or they will work for the team going into the future. So try to go back to hometowns Chicago. It didn't work tried to go with his homeboy. Lebron in Cleveland, it didn't work. He's also had some struggles off the court custody battles with this kid's. He's got remarried. So I've seen this whole life. Come full circle. This is a great story. And that is the traditional DeWayne way. When I finished a game. All he jumps on the scoreboard. Yes. And and and as they call it in Dade County way, it's way county man, it was it was refreshing to see an old, man. Do what we had seen him do as a youngest. It's crazy. You talk about because I was part of that team. And that was unbelievable. He actually he wins game. Three fourths and saves us. We go to old three probably lose that series. But he was thirty eight necessary some something like that people don't understand that everybody looks at his championships wouldn't abroad, but he was special and now one shot got there. Gave him the name flash. And he he kinda took off from that. So I had to be a part of that how happy to be part of that to see him coming become a star and become one of the best two guys ever to me is in a top five all time two guards. Oh, we argue about that. So that's a lot of people. Sometimes get about the way because he did have a couple of rough patches with Chicago and Cleveland, but he's unbelievable Jordan. Kobe west Wade are your four best two guards ever and people can argue over the order, but those are the top four, no. To. Let's just talk about what this means for the Golden State Warriors. Now, just a half game up on Denver. How worried should this team be about holding onto that top spot in the west they play a lot of teams that that can actually go into stating in win the Houston Rockets? A one of those teams that Glenn win. Not sure if the nuggets are experienced enough to go in there and win. But so it's not really that big of a problem for Golden State. I think they do have to think about last year a little bit because he was too. Chris Paul doesn't get hurt. They may get out there series because of the homequote advantage situation. So they may have to think about that. And if I'm going stay, I want to be at home. I think they'd played a best basketball the home. They sell them that of the last four years to be a great home team. I'll know why they would not want to be that Rossa. They can get it done probably from the to see. But I believe this only the Houston Rockets are the one team that can go in and beat them in the Western Conference. Oh, that's the only I think they should be worried about Golden State has been scary at home. The last four years, but not this year. And you look at the top teams in the NBA if you look at their losses right now, Golden State. They got ten losses at home. We had never ever seen them lose that many games and the top teams most of them have one in Golden State Houston right now, they haven't lost against Golden State. So I would be concerned not only in the west. But I would be concerned about that court with you get to define last last tenth road. Eight losses at home. Well, okay. Most they've had in this run the point still stands..

"Lose their lives. One time. That's it. You know, people in the AFC don't worry about it. We're good you out. I got you signed with collector or something. I know people I gotta use. I clicked on the inside baby. And the Anthony Davis ends up anywhere. LA LA take a year and a half. But I think he I like, no matter what if you. He becomes a free agent is on. I think he wants to be there. And I think he's looking at this as LeBron's at a few years left. I'm going to be the man. And I mean, look if you're a history of centers there is like unparalleled will Kareem shack, Mike, and I mean, it's like incredible. Lebron? He good LeBron wants to get him there. Now as in yesterday because he the clocks ticket for him. But for for Anthony Davis. He'll be twenty five now be twenty seven when he when he when he signed with the Lakers three wants to go. He's got a good seven years left at least being top tier player. Like, I think if the Lakers it the Lakers were smart, which they won't go that far. They would they would try to wait this out hope that this summer. No one wants to give up assets. And then they can come with a short deal. Yeah. They'd short. They won't give up their entire youth movement. And then either get Davis for a shorter hall of talent urges wait a year and a half because then you of the young guys like Bill young guys aren't terrible. No, he might not be all stars. But Ingram's last month and a half love who's he's been good kouzmines been really good. I still think ball can be a service serviceable will player heart could be a very good backup point guard. Like, you give those guys two years. They're going to look a lot different than they look right now. So if you get Davis there. Lebron's air for a couple more years. And if all the reports are true that guys just don't really wanna play with the Broncos hear everything that goes along with it, the broad retires forty whatever something like that. And they Davis twenty eight then maybe someone wants to come in the young guys are ready to go a few years than other Lakers on think that way, I mean growing up down there. I know they want to win every single year. Especially now when they've been terrible. But I think I like I was thinking to myself. Okay. Let's say you get Davis abroad. And you given up everybody like everybody, it would have been awesome to see the Lakers their youth me but wanted done down in New Orleans because everyone would have been reunited random would have been what's going on. Good to see you. They'd had the trailer for de ngelo. Russell exactly they could have had Randy fund be there. All right. What are they going to put around those two like mercenaries like that's kind of what the word do. But they do it for like two roster spots seven seven. We did another one year contract. So I just like their best bet would have been like. Personnel. Is you would have said if Anthony Davis deal he could have been out this year, regardless here too said, I'm walk into the Lakers. I don't care if you try me or not, but I'm gonna end up being there if that would have happened Lakers wouldn't have been offered anything. They said screw what does. But I mean, like I always thought if they got Kawai then sound like wants to be there. It didn't sound like anybody. It's free to the shows. They're all Georgian wanna go. I there's that something clay. Playing going anywhere. Loves it up here. Like loves it up here. You imagine how miserable Klay Thompson will be next to LeBron. Oh. After playing with Steph your whole career. Yeah. I mean, and I know we're going to run. But there's something to be said, hey, shut down. There's something to be said for being there when the team was a very good step for those two that saw that. And then being here when the team is doing what they're doing. I mean, they're always going to be the guys dream on as well because they drafted a, but those are the two those are the two guys to say, you know, what we're here at ground floor, and we were here and they're gonna right. They're going to ride this thing out until gay just can't fly anymore to the wings fall off this thing. And I would that's what I would do. It's the bay area. It's a great area to live. They like the coach organization. Yeah, they just they dig it. Rocco city and going anyway is they ain't going anywhere. That's the real authority like the bay area. We. "NPR's countdown. Sports leader. This is dubs countdown to tip off and. San Francisco KFC and HD two semi sports leader real quick before we get into worst. Just so, you know, a big trade today in the NBA, and it could have ramifications at least in social media, and it already has New York. They're talking all about this. But New York going to Dallas Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee, mainly for contractual purposes. Tim Hardaway junior sign that big contract that New York decided to match and. Surely he came over from Atlanta, Atlanta, decided not to magic he's making seventeen million this year eighteen million extra year nineteen million and then Wesley Matthews one year left on his deal. Dennis Smith junior not making a lot still in the rookie contract and deandre Jordan one year, he's making a bunch of money. So that Dallas can be better with porzingas put them in Don-Shik and New York the Knicks can clear bunch cap space in sign at least two max players in the off season. The problem is, of course, players haven't come to New York lately. Even though they constantly talk about guys like LeBron and others, and none of them have gone to New York. So what do you think is it just a who knows? What do you think of the trade? You said earlier, I think well, I think they were stock the next you stuck a little bit. And you're trying to figure out a way to get out of it and trying to entice stars to come to New York. Is much as the Knicks haven't been. Really any good for the past ten fifteen years. The last time they really relevant Ewing twenty years ago twenty five years ago, Steven employment, Ewing, Mason, Oakley, doc. Rivers there. There's some pretty good teams. It's always ran into the bulls. But. David really been relevant forever. The ploughs here or there. Yeah threat, they they just know. So they're thinking all right. Let's go and scrapped this whole thing. In twelve thirteen. They won fifty four games when the season's thirty seven seventeen thirty to thirty one twenty nine in their ten and forty this year. And even before that it was just a average in twelve thirteen and they did that. Because before that it was thirty six wins forty two twenty nine thirty to twenty three thirty three and they haven't been really consistently. Good cheese. You have to go back. Now they've been off. Absolutely awful ninety. Okay. So from. Okay. That this was kind of. Yeah. When you was really rolling. They went from like from eighty eight to about ninety six ninety seven for about a ten year period. They went fifty to forty five fifty one sixty fifty seven fifty forty seven fifty seven forty three and then ninety eight ninety nine hundred ninety seven ninety eight. They just started to take. And they haven't come back. So I get it. I mean, I don't think the Knicks brand. Is a big deal. But it is New York. I mean, New York does have some cash aid to it. We were talking about businesses. And do you want to go there? What do you want to do after basketball? So I think if you were the player that could bring New Yorker championship in basketball because they do love their basketball in New York. The giants have been able to win the Mets made a World Series the Yankees, obviously of one a few World Series Rangers. Rangers the bed in a Stanley Cup the Allender feminine much. But if they were to win a championship, it'd be huge. What's the best way to do that now with the roster? They had so you go ahead. And they gotta be hoping Dennis Smith junior is going to be a player. He just didn't fit anymore with the Mavericks. He might be a player. He might be a pretty good player. Find a role. Yeah. We don't know that. So you're just like, okay. Let's just hope maybe we can get like the big ticket would be Durant. And then Irving that'd be your big ticket. You have a three and a one or whatever if you get quiet that'd be great too. I don't think twice going there. But who knows? Who knows like what are your marketing opportunities outside of basketball in New York? They could be massive. You're absolutely massive. So I like the trade for them because it was just different. Let's see what happens this is and get us anywhere. And I like the trade for the Mavericks to because they were just kinda stuck in the middle there. Like, what are we who are we and and Cubans not going to stand still it's like, well, let's just roll the dice here and see what happens? So I like it for them a couple years of a bad contract with Lee and a couple of years of a bad contract or maybe one and a half years with leeann two and a half years with Hardaway, although they can both play overpaid, but they could play, but you're thinking okay after that, then we can really try to surround porzingas and dodge with with some guys. What happens now worst comes to worst? It porzingas is hurt. And he's never the same player. They need. Then Benue you made a mistake. Then you made a mistake. All right. So that was the big news today. Obviously, the Anthony Davis stuff nothing really new on that other than the Lakers apparently offering all their young players and the appellate Casey wants take them. Steadfast wake him up. We'll send him a Senator. We'll give you a new. We're good. We'll you Randy fund, whatever on coaches, Kim. Please. She got that LeBron returns tonight against the clippers other some of the big stories around the association, breaking news Klay Thompson will not play tonight. He's got an illness. So he won't play. So that's how and McKinney is gonna start again with what Steve does. So that they can keep things kind of on the the normal as far as the rotation. So it's going to be Durant. Green cousins McKinney in place at Thomson tonight and Steph curry seventy Sixers Jimmy Butler Wilson, Chandler, Joel Embiid, JJ, Ben Simmons. So those are your match ups. We'll get into some things including the player to watch in the xfinity X factor of the game. A little bit later on in the show. But those are the the match ups, by the way, this is clay's. I missed game of the year. And it doesn't say anything major illness. Okay. They go practice won't stay on with Rocco. And why not? Chill. So that's what's going on. As far as the warriors are concerned as far as the winning streak is concerned. These guys just get off the road. They finish a perfect road trip. Get a few days the best thing about this. A lot of this was obviously cousins comes aboard. But they've had breaks. So it's not my cousins has been pushed back to back games or three and five or ever since he arrived. It's just kinda they're getting a few days off here. Few days off there. They had a couple of days off after the road. It's it's really been a perfect. I'm sure they looked at this. When they said, when's he gonna come back? Let's have a few days before every game. And it's funny because it seems like he's been back for a while. He hasn't been back that loan. This is his home debut tonight. No, that's pretty crazy. And he he's been really good and this'll be his stiffest challenge yet. Because Joel Embiid one of the best centers in the game. So this this'll be a challenge for him. And I'm sure the crowd would love to see him. They've been playing good. He's been playing good almost like when he came back that he'd been there for a year and a half feet has got hurt. But he knew everybody and knew the system and knew the guys and came back and like I said from the first game. I thought his body looked really good like they waited until he looked good, and he was in shape, but everything from the offense the passing the movement that everything he looks really good. But it'll be fun to watch him in a bid go at it. Yeah. Absolutely. I'd by the way, Anthony Slater the athletic saying, he's cousins of play around twenty five minutes tonight against Philadelphia starting each of the first five, and of course, we'll continue to do that. But a restriction around twenty five minutes. But again when he first came back, remember the first ninety played against the clippers was a fifteen minute outing. He fouled out in that hounding. And now he's already. Up to twenty five minutes. He's averaging fifteen point two points per game, seven boards and about three point six three pointers. He shooting about forty nine percent for the field. Fifty four point five thirty three point land. And again, five games of caves small. But if you just look at how he's playing if you look at the movement skills, as you pointed out, if you looked at you know, really teams haven't taken advantage of defensively. I'm sure that will change at some point. But it's not like he's out there moving Steph. It's not he really looks. And I'm sure he would tell you. I got a long way to go. But still he he looks good. Like a glove like a glove. Just throw them in there, and knowing how to play basketball solves a lot of problems. And he knows how to play and the guys in the court. There you go. We'll take a look at the M drive player to watch. When we come back look at that. We'll look at a few ups a little bit more closely as well. And again, Klay Thompson will not play tonight. Klay has an illness funds. Mckinney will start in his place tonight. For the words, we'll do more next as we get ready for.

"Dollar sees the gm if the gm is like being the g member in pat riley got to get the president in miami heat job and he hired randy fund the old laker coach to be the gm yup and then riley made all the moves and all the trades and you know it was basically just a title you know in so it it appears that reggie will hold on to his title right n it is interesting though that john gruden you know the the deal when pete carroll went to seattle was he got to pick his own general manager and he picked john schneider it's interesting that john gruden didn't make that a condition of his job i don't think he needs to i think he is now going to do whatever he wants and of reggie doesn't get on board than reggie will no longer be there i think that if you pay saw and their own does zone right i reggie mckenzie it would look really bad to not follow the ruini rule and fire reggie mckenzie well wait a minute not only did they follow the rule but did you hear who the second person they interviewed was no t martin yeah but i mean incensed it's it it's it's been bs it's complete and total bs righty martin wasn't going to get a college head coaching job let alone a an nfl draft today what you should i go back to what i again i i'm in favour there any role i i think that it's good experience for guys to be his before they weren't even interview in the black guys they weren't even let them try right but i mean there he martin can benefit from going i enter the idea that t martin had a chance to get that job is ridiculous and i think everybody knows that's a total charade maybe i mean come on obt martin didn't get an interview to go back to his alma mater unbia head coach attended sees going to be the head coach of the raiders no and i think it would have looked stupid had they blown outrage.

"Well that it's it's i always use this example it was like when randy fund was the general manager of the miami heat yep when pat riley was the president it's a title what's tyson hulten's role co offensive coordinator radio now it's actually quarterbacks and pass game but don't they call the place together here's the thing there are two when they get to the red zone there are too many chefs in the kitchen because you've got clay tea and tyson and by the way i don't like a lot of the red zone playcalling okay so in that area i think klay needs to really make an evaluation he gave up playcalling and gave it to t n tyson the share right walk he gave it to ti okay tyson is the passing game dozen tired and next to tedo yet but he's not the are he's not the co off insecure nature thinking the elephants he or natives for tennessee i just i i'll tell you i don't love the play calling for us c i don't love it even after he went 11 in two i can make it yeah i mean you can you can win games and stolen her that defense of secondary's terrible i mean i honestly i don't know what now if there's not a chain if i guess i'm not supposed to call out specific coaches but ronny bradford the defensive backs coach i mean honestly that secondary's terrible and he's not he's not cruder danny radford is not a guy who actually does a lot of recruiting so he's defense backs coach the doesn't lou do a lot of recruiting and it's a terrible of second well dennis sermon who came in the show ally while you were taken days off is a former nfl defensive back and former nfl defensive coordinator and i said the same thing he said there were games were the secondary unity he said there were some games they showed up but he said there was no consistency in those none whatsoever i mean aid guys two and three 60s on some of those plays against stanford those jump all so i mean i think at the very least fat's got to be a change if t martin leaves i'd get a real recruiting us your kenichi daisy is the best recruiter that they've got now who whose.

"Now this is being compared to win randy fund was named miami heat gm under pat riley fund got the title but not any power still it's a gm title on your resume good mover bad move for a young guy like winger to take the clippers gmg igs gray move by the way i'm not steve volmer is no stranger to corporate reorganisation i'm sure he did it while he was at microsoft they actually did it to him they reorganized at one point he was out as a ceo no i mean i think there's a a reasonably good chance docks failings as a general manager are well documented i don't know anybody who believes the dock is effective as a general manager i think it's very possible that this is a real reorganization of the clippers franchise that this is steve bomber very very deliberately stripping those gm duties away and saying go find me the young new new thing and they got into this would i've always suggested you get somebody from an organization that really operates well and you steal the playbook exactly like we guy luke walton from golden state if he's bringing the same press presley playbook to the clippers doc would be nuts to ignore well here's another reason why if you're winger you take the job even if you don't have any power it set you up for the next job right other words it put you in conversations for similar rc buford in in san antonio has been offered many other gm jobs he has chosen not to pursue the right but even though gregg popovich has final say on everything beaufort was able to show what he can do right i think winger can show what he can do i would take the job gigantic agree to agree agreed to agree.
