And there's debris strewn all over the road and at this point they're like dozens of people outside kind of wondering what's going on and i stopped in the middle of the road. Just trying to figure out what i'm looking at and I notice a young man and a white t shirt start walking from the accident scene directly towards my car so i thought he was coming to. You know ask for help. So i cracked the window. My passenger seat wanna note that my fifteen year old son was in the passenger seat with me at the time. Pretty important note. Yeah yes so he. He walks up to my car opens a backdoor my car and climbs into my car and then he says dr I'm thinking this kid definitely hit his head and he's not in his right mind so turn to him and i just say firmly but calmly get out of my car and then he said something which makes my blood run cold when i remember he says. Don't you think the world has gotten a little weird now. And i'm thinking to myself. This kid definitely hit his head. he's not thinking straight. he needs help so i turned to him again. And i say please get of my car. And by the grace of god he got out of my car and i'm looking at him in the rear view mirror p five seconds after he got out of my car. I see him come up on another pedestrian on the sidewalk. I seem lifted t-shirt crap into his pants. And then i see him raise a black handgun and i hear pop at this point. I mean immediate flight mode. I dropped the clutch on my car. Still drive a stick shift. And i'm maneuvering through the debris field on the road and i hear more pops behind me. My son is rightfully cowering in the front seat. I'm screaming. we're getting out of here and all the bystanders. I'm flying by this point through. The debris yelling at he stopped. I think that's keeping me somewhat saying is that i reacted in the way that i wouldn't want someone to treat my child if that was my child who had been in an accident but as soon as it went sideways like i said my instinct was i need to save me and my child in addition to as you said you know you all do have some survivors skills but on the other hand you wake up at night thinking it could've been me or my son. "WBZ Boston's news radio. All right, we have one, um, call hanging over here, which, again? I think this is a really interesting topic and has been great response to it. There's a couple of other topics we're going to. We hope to get to tonight. But in the meantime, I go to Dan in San Francisco Daniel at the second caller from San Francisco tonight, believe it or not, Oh, I feel lucky. Well, anyway, I just wanted to say I'm new to this story. I don't know much about it. But I agree with you, 100%. We've got to find out everything we can About this guy and my take on it is You know what motivated him, right? What? What was he looking at? Maybe online was yon racist websites was the on anti Semitic websites. But where did this Where did this come from? Out, And I wanted to ask. Was there any kind of a manifesto or something that that he came up with before he went on his rampage? No, not as far as we know at this time again. This happened Saturday afternoon here in Boston. So it would have been kind of midday Your time in San Francisco. Uh and I don't know that this story I'm told is getting a little bit of national play, because what's interesting is that the assailant is a young white guy. Married just about a year ago. Who, um, who is as I understand. It reportedly has a doctorate and was going to be opening up a physical therapy therapy office. So he had everything to live for. And he stole a truck, a plumbing truck. Winthrop is a town that's just a little out city a little outside or that it's actually a town. Excuse me outside of Boston is actually part of Suffolk County, which is The geographic area that includes Boston for communities outside of Boston. Uh, truck was speeding down the street. It was stolen. 2 33 o'clock in the afternoon. On Saturday Beautiful day here in Boston sideswiped a parked car lost control of the truck smashed into a house apparently destroyed that house. Jumped out of the truck barefooted. Two guns, hopped over a fence and went down the street and shot and killed two. Um Black Americans won an Air Force veteran, a woman whose name is Ramona Cooper. And a retired Massachusetts state police trooper David Green. And then the shooter was taken out by a win through police Sergeant who obviously Responded to the scene and and probably saved a lot of lives by taking this guy out. Normally investigations like this stay pretty under the radar because the trials ongoing or a trial is scheduled. There's no trial for this guy. He's dead. I want it all out, and I want to see everything. There was And I want to find out if if he was involved with other people if he had disclosed his thoughts or his ideas, and if he had why those people hadn't at least tipped off authorities and said, Hey, we got a guy who's saying some really crazy stuff. Agreed. Agreed, and I think we're going to know a lot more about it over the next few days, and I'm just thinking he snapped, but Weren't there Some writings I thought I saw reference in the news to the anti Semitic and racist writings that he had. Was it like, online or on Facebook? According according to and again these stories, um I've been a reporter before. As a talk show host. These stories can't tend to change a little bit over over the first, the first, um Draft sometimes gets changed, but the district attorney Is quoted as saying that this um perp had some very disturbing beliefs, white supremacist beliefs regarding members of our Jewish population, as well as black individuals and two people lost their lives. Um She went on to say that She had gotten some insight into his thinking. Into his thinking from items he had written in his notebook as recently as within the last week or so, quote if we believe the dates that he's written in his notebook Um the other thing I am certain of Is that so? But let me just let me just finish this about. She went on to say, quote. The other thing I am certain of is there are living people who interacted with this individual who are alive. And none of those people were black and the only two people that are dead. As a result of this are two black people he encountered. So he I I think that she believes that he picked out Um, his victims he could have. If he was just killing people. He walked past some potential victims who were white. Uh, well, the one thing I'll leave you with. I think we we again. We've got to find out what influenced him to do this and you know my guess at this point, and it's pure speculation. That I think he was probably looking at things from the proud boys or the oath keepers or neo Nazi groups. And this is what influenced him. And for those who say that these groups are harmless, and it's just ideas No. This is what happens when people are influenced by those ideas, and they decided to take action. And you know, we we've got. We've got to do something about it provides country. You know, we should know. Um We have no proof of that is yet and that's why I'm suggesting that the district attorney, a lot of these cases occur, and we're appalled by them. And then two days later, there's another horrific case, and we lose focus on the original case. And then we we forget about it. Uh, I don't know what he was influenced by. I don't know. Who he might have. I'm more concerned about who he might have. Um, not not conspired with because there's no suggestion that he did this in conjunction with anyone, but I am concerned if he had expressed this, um You know, vitriol, this hatred that apparently he acted upon to other people, and they did not tip off authorities. I mean, what responsibility do they have? I mean, we have in this country. If you see something, say something, and then Conversely, you have people on the other side to say, Don't snitch. Well, if someone could have snitched here and said to his police department, Hey, you may want to go check this guy out. Um, maybe a couple of lives might have been saved again that speculation as well. And I appreciate your first time calling to the show. No. I called last week about the G seven for the first time, So I'm a second time call. Second time quality. Thanks very much. Come back again. Interesting. Interesting observation. We will, we will have to see again. We We do protect all sorts of speech in this country. Um, but it's but it's important to understand. How people are influence and what they are influenced by. If we find out that this guy was some sort of a hidden disciple of proud boys or oath, keepers or whomever it should be all out there. If it turns out that he was just somebody Who was filled with rage and filled with hate and never disclosed it to anyone else. Let that come out to lets the truth will set us free. Agreed. 100%. Thank you very appreciate your call. Have a great good night. Okay. Um, If you want last talk, let's governing this. We're back to a quarter of 11. This has been an interesting topic, and I am delighted that as many of you have Taken as many different tax on this, I guarantee you We will end this at 11 No later than 11. "Boston News radio. Alright, we're going a little longer in this story, and I thought we wouldn't. I'm glad people are interested in and we're talking about this. Horrific shooting in winter over the weekend, unprovoked. Guy steals a truck truck of a plumbing company. Smashes the truck into a building have no idea if the building was the target of the investigation is still ongoing jumps out of the truck barefoot barefooted with two guns. Shoots and kills, um to Black Americans, both of whom had served in the military. Ramona Cooper, a Air Force veteran, a staff sergeant in the Air Force, and David Greene, who also served in the military, But more important, well should say more important, but equally importantly, was a retired Massachusetts state police trooper. The assailant shot dead. Nathan Allen apparently walked past some white people and apparently chose his targets based upon race and the attorney, the district attorney of Suffolk County, Rachel Rollins, is quote on the global saying, saying that this individual Allen had some very disturbing beliefs. White supremacist beliefs regarding members of our Jewish population. As well as black individuals and two people lost their lives as a result of this She said that investigators have gotten some insight into his thinking from items he had written in the notebook. As recently as last week or so, if we're to believe the dates that he's written in the notebook Problem here is This is a bizarre story in many, many respects a bizarre story, but it is a story that needs to be investigated. Normally, in a situation like this, where there would be an investigation, prosecutors are very limited on what they can say. I want the district attorney to release everything they can about this guy so we can find out. Is he someone who kept his his thoughts and his intentions to himself, or did he share them with others? And if he did share them with others? How explicit was he? And if he was explicit, why did others not step forward? And let folks know that this was a time bomb Ticking time Bomb 617254 10 30 Triple 8929 10 30. Beverly is in New Hampshire. Going to be followed here in a moment or so from Clark in Winthrop and Dennis in Weymouth, and the only lines are open the ladies line. 617931 10 30. This is a hateful, spiteful act. We have no idea why we need to know as as as a community. Why, In my in my opinion, let's go to Beverly is in New Hampshire. Hi, Beverly. Next on nights I go right ahead. I just want to go back to the lady who talked about testing kids and yes and I first of all, I'm a strong supporter of a C L u However, I still cringe sometimes that the things that they support But I can hear them screaming immediately about anything that was the set up like that. That but at the same time in order to be a plumber, you have to have the test. To be anything in this culture that we have in this country. Everybody has to be tested, and, um, it seems to me that what's wrong? I don't understand. I think she's right that There must be some way of testing. That wouldn't be any worse than the driver's test written test. Um, forward 1st 1st of may make sure that we understand she was talking about testing kids in school. I mean, she was talking about Take elementary school. Maybe I'm going further with that. I'm taking it a bit further that when you apply for of firearm license What's wrong with having someone take a simple mental health exam? Not not not an in depth and mental health, you know thing, but When you have to do that for everything else. I don't understand why people would be so upset about it, I suppose, because those are not so called rights to have Bear arms. I guess maybe that's what it is, but well, well, well, It's different numbers. A driver's license is a privilege privilege, Right? Okay, however, a constitutional right Is not a privilege. It's a right Uh, then there's that whole issue. A visitor. Is that our isn't it? Is it or what is that there isn't one Is it or isn't it a right Depending on how you read the Constitution. But that is how the U. S. Supreme Court interprets the Constitution. And I thinking, right? Pretty clear, uh, in my own view. And it's if There's no other I I exercise my first Amendment rights here and I use the first Amendment. That's my profession. Okay? Absolutely. And you should, But I mean the whole but so should should. I have to undergo a mental health screening every couple of years in order to maintain no, no, no, no, no, no. First of all the Constitution talks about The right to bear arms dinner, well regulated militia. I mean, we can get into the the details that will try try to convince the U. S. Supreme Court of that, and there's a There's a 240 year history, uh, in which they they have, but isn't I'm still thinking. There must be a simple way or a Maybe not simple as in the word, but people can be tested Not just for having guns, but I mean for violent tendencies. People don't always use how about if we start off with this. How about if we start off being a little tougher on people who enter the criminal justice system and we put we give People, fewer and fewer opportunities, uh, to to come in and out. The the revolving door of the courthouse last Monday night, agrees last Monday night. I had the mayor of Springfield, Massachusetts, on in the first hours. Name was Dominic's China and on Sunday a week ago last night they had a guy 43 years old, who was in the middle of the street in Springfield. Firing guns, pointing guns, um at police officers. He has been in and out of court on 20 to 25 occasions, and and he's out on the street in possession of guns. This now You know, that's there was a woman in the Midwest who Was called the police over and over and over and over and over about her husband. She was convinced he was going to kill kids, and he did, uh, And they just they totally ignored. Er, Yeah, I mean, they had She had all kinds of evidence. They wouldn't give her restraining more because they said they didn't have enough evidence. But there was plenty of evidence. In the meantime, he killed both of their Children. And, you know, I guess I don't. I have no answers. But it seems to me there should be somewhere not like that Tom Cruise movie with a pre criminals, I forget what they were golf. We can't predict what someone's going to do it right. Precisely. Yeah, Yeah, yeah, We should be good. Well, maybe in a society 200 years from now we will have that ability. I don't know that I want to live in that society at that point, because at that point, you know, have have have people out there reading your mind electronically, it said that gets pretty scary as well. Thank you so much for your call. Appreciate it very much. Okay. Thank you. Great night dentist from Weymouth Clark and went through. It will be up next got Joe and Lynn got room for you.
