"Long as you don't pull too far away but that's how the little kid actor and keep in mind all of okay. So peter. billingsley was playing at a nine year old and he was twelve. The other kids were like fifteen sixteen years auto shed. They're all supposed to play way younger but they were way older than than him. Playing those playing those roles A couple of cameos in the film so the guy who originally wrote the film he actually does a cameo in the film Ralphie goes to visit santa claus. He tells ralphie line storage back there. Okay that's him and the lady next to him is his actual wife. So that's his little cameo of anybody. Jean shepherd i think his name is and that's his. Oh cameo of your curious on what he looked like and in the scene where the this wild but you remember the little steam where he's going to meet santa claus and he's standing in line and there's that kid was like the fucking flight helmet on and those goggles and he's just like staring at ralphie. Yeah and he's all like wow. Do you want mandated. That kid was not acting. Peter billingsley awkwardness to not wanna talk to him was not part of it and not in the script they like saw the kid in the store was like because they actually couldn't close the store to film because it was too close to the holiday right so they saw the storm and they're like oh bree gonna use this kid so they put the kid next to him and that kid just staring at peter billingsley like that. It's just a kid being the kit no shit so even like so. You watch ralphie's reaction to him you watch the film and it just likes it. He just watch that. Awkwardness is real. I was like oh randy. The younger brother when going up to visit santa claus was terrified of the slide. So when he actually comes down that slide and he's crying the hallway down. It's all real on one take so unfortunately randy's parents of course ron hand because you can't film without without the pants right so successful hem coming down. The slide was a real real tiered. Take peter billingsley also ralphie when he comes down the stairs in a bunny outfit. It's actually also all done on like one or two takes because he didn't want to wear it like he really didn't want to wear it. He was embarrassed in front of cast and crew wearing it so when he came down the stairs his reaction to israel as well so that's why he like when they tell him you take it off. He re runs upstairs like super fast right after that scene. It's all like so. Get that stupid costume off. Yeah so again. Oh the screenwriter slash narrator. The voiceover is. I don't know. I think i already said that. But the voice over that's narrating. The film was actually the guy who wrote it. All right on and the director of the film makes a small cameo. That's last this last piece of all two pieces of information. I have one is. The director makes a cameo when the fathers outside trying to set up the leg lamp. He's like a little bit more left little bit more than right right there. And then the the guy walks open he goes. What does that and he's like. Oh it's major award. The guy that walks up was that that's the director. That's that's always going to be the extent of my acting. Like i would love to do acting and stuff like that. I know i'm not going to be a amazing actor. Like johnny tapper lavar caprio. I'm never going to be of that caliber right right. But i wouldn't mind being like like kevin smith was. Oh just a bit part. Just bed parts and stuff like that john. Fabio i mean have you is a really great actor though. I'll i'll give him that while. The father part was originally supposed to be the father in the movie. The old man is what it was referred to as was originally supposed to be played. Jack nicholson that would have been good jackson's was on board. Jack nicholson got the script. It was happening and then they couldn't afford it. They couldn't afford jack. Nicholson so i mean. If you're jack nicholson at that point. It's kinda like i get it. I could just is also a point where it's like. I can see him reactions film. I could see him reacting to ralphie going. Oh budge him just looking up. Oh yeah. I can see that in my head but it wasn't fudge okay. Moving on real quick to this random obscure films. Okay okay. i'm going to do the the the one the least. I only have a few. Because when i started diving. It's kind of like There's a lot of tv show. Specials yeah okay wherein episode will have a christmas special. I don't want to count those because those are not ones. You know what i'm saying right. Yeah you know like webster. I think the old eighty show had a christmas episode. The holiday special ships. What i'm saying. Yeah there's a like christmas and pacman land and stuff like these random like the ninja turtles had a christmas episode. Like there's there's somewhere they were clearly made for tv and they played that year and never played hugging right. You don't san so and then there's some that have played surprisingly every year and not necessarily in the us but in other countries Like the film we were much. We mentioned earlier the snowman. Yeah that's actually from britain so it please every single year since one thousand nine hundred eighty two. It's only twenty six minutes long and it was originally taking taken from a story now. There's no words that it's a. It's a beautiful film gas. Twenty six minutes. I if you have kids and you need something relaxing. That's not super hyper. But that's holiday put it on. It's kind of chill. You can like drink hot cocoa and just watch. It's about a boy who builds a snowman snowman. Kinda takes them on an adventure and it's based around christmas so it's it's holiday. The original the original story has nothing to do with christmas in the original story..

"Right all right. Get back to our show. Thank you grace for playing with us and we'll talk to you later. Bye bye guys all right so there you go. There's the there's the update see in her head. She was playing with the planning. And your head. You were teasing which is probably if you mix the story together is probably very true. You're teasing her. And she probably got pissed spark clotheslines. You goofing off. But back to the toy. My fred flintstone you. I don't remember talking fred. Flintstone like dolled didn't like thing. Just talk or did read stories. The old spin or i think i think it just talked. I think it was just one of those. Talking toys. Talking fred flintstone toys and i was really into the flintstones. At that time i would do that. Must have been six five five or six years. Yeah i believe you believe you still at the house during that time if you're back on if i remember back on the the home movies especially but i. That's all. I want for christmas. Was that fred flintstone talking toy. And i remember grace took it christmas morning after i got it before i even really got to play with it. and she took it she started playing with it and everything and i just got fucking pissed as like you know what you came in this episode of the heart rundown was brought to you by anchor dot fm. If you're planning on making a podcast and you don't know how to get started. Definitely go to anchor dot. Fm they have everything you could possibly need from the ability to get distribution different platforms to even having an app that you can utilize so if you don't try to do it on your computer you can actually do it right from your phone. It's really convenient. it's really simple. You just have to go to anchor dot fm to get started or you can just download their app from whatever app store your phone uses so definitely check it out. Anchor dot fm okay. Well aside from great toys. That's why i wanted to be. I was curious. I'm always curious. I never got talk about it. But in christmas It is all about him as little boy growing up at christmas. Trying to get Ralphie if you will trying to get the red ryder. Bb gun trying to convince his parents to get it more santa claus or whatever to get him the red ryder. Bb gun for christmas. It's a. It's a great christmas classic. The the whole the whole film was done in two different places. The out all of the exterior shots were shot in cleveland. You can actually go to the christmas story house now and it's still there like it's actually a museum and you visit and stuff in fact somebody bought it a few years back and if i see a few is probably a lot of years back and remodeled it to look like the house in the movie because the interior shots were not anywhere close right. The interior shots were all done. Most the case for the interior shots were done out of canada. But i know. I know they were like and even that there's a spot there is a spot. I mean there's a scene in that film were ralphie's got his gun. He's like dreaming about having a gun and he shoots. The bag is out the back they actually did the the outside of all the bad guys and then the inside of the house they actually filmed those months apart and had come together. Oh shit yeah because because again inside magic baby yeah the outside donate leaves done elsewhere also so another little inside tidbits. Remember when in a christmas story when he's walking ralphie's walking before he gets in the big fight with scott farkas and he gets the snowball to the face. Yeah like stock. Blam hits him in the face and he like takes his glasses off or whatever and he starts all angry. He's sitting. he's crying and he gets angry. He starts fighting. They had to do that take so many times. Because peter billingsley ralphie was had to walk into frame and get hit by the snowball. They hit him with the snow so many times that in the actual take in the film. He's really crying. Oh shit right so that kind of watch it now. It's kind of bridge a little bit of realism to it. He is an actor. He is professional about it. Whatever but he got hit so many times he just couldn't hold anymore so those tears and everything on his face a real because he's actually just sick of getting hit with a fucking snowball also. Another cool little movie trick. The tongue stuck to the poll member. Yeah okay were they. They convince flick to stick his tongue to the poll. While you that could really happen. It could really be a serious situation. They make fun of it and dumb and dumber and all that right and allen said. They couldn't because they're filming in cleveland. And in some cases it was actually cold. The couldn't take the chance of an actual kids tongue getting stuck to a real poll. So what you can't see in the film is a tiny hole. Probably about half the size of a dime is in in the poll where he sticks his tongue and they use a vacuum on the other end of the poll. so it just like basically Sucks his tongue and that's how he's able to kind of pull away a little bit without.

"The mood. They were making. They're making a kids film. Essentially a family film but they've got this series actor. They're trying to break them a little bit. You know what i'm saying. Yeah so even at the point and the director photography got james caan to break a little bit at the scene. There's a scene where he takes. Buddy the elf to dr john farrow and takes them to the doctor and he's like i'm going to do a blood test. We're gonna prick your finger. We'll see if you're really my son. So the dp. The director of photography tells will ferrell scream like soon as he picture finger just like it's not scripted. Screaming bloody screen will ferrell. Does it if you watch the film. You can see this win john. Fabra walk over to the doctor and pricks his little finger and will ferrell. Does that. Like high girly scream. James caan lose it and turns towards wolfert puts his back completely to the camera. You can kind of see it as they cut it but he has put his head down because he starts lose are dying laughing and they actually leave the scene in the film Some other behind the scenes real quick I know you haven't seen it. But sorry i'm going to have to know it's fine. Go for it. i said i've seen bits and parts. Honestly my favorite part of the ones that i've seen right was when he goes into the office. And there's the little person that's like young executive or whatever he goes to santa know that you left the workshop. You can say to me one more time. Like kicks his ass. The guy from game of thrones right a forgot his name. I don't you're talking about. Yeah like dude. I lose it every time. There should scenarios so buddy and jovi the girl he gets with their future the going forward at the baby not at the very end of the film but shows like it shows later on the little kids sitting on bob new arts lap is actually john. Farrow's son son in there because it's like oh it's like something. He wanted to be proud of something he could show his son so the fact he got his son in there was even cooler The other another speaking of the babies the opening scene where they show buddy as a baby was originally set of twin boys but they would not stop crying which i can totally relate to a little bit about like nonstop screaming so they actually had to get a set of triplet girls to play the role so in that film. They the swapping out. It's actually a little girl. That's dressed as like buddy as a kid as a baby that ends up crawling into santa's bag or whatever and then going from there so peter billingsley. I say that name. It's very it's almost synonymous with christmas. When i tell you who it really is. Peter billingsley is the actor that played ralphie and at christmas story. Okay okay he is actually in elf wh- Which i know. Everyone's carries. If i know the seen so at the part where where will ferrell's i can't make toys. I'm a cut and headed mini muffin. Or whatever the hell whatever he says. Peter billingsley is the one dressed in red with the really like super blue eyes. That's all like oh no buddy. You're not a cotton headed in any morgan. You're you know you're just have your own special talents like that type of thing. So the one the health dressed in red is actually peter. Billingsley the actor. Who's actually good friends with john. Farrow and played is ralphie in a christmas story. Shit yeah so another little insight there but so for the most part. The only other thing i have is the the outfits from elf are heavily heavily. Referenced i should say with rudolf right and while inspired inspired bright and the animation the clay the stop motion for a few clay figures that they have. They used that to frame thing. We were talking just to get it right. So those type of things but again speaking of peter billingsley that drags us right into a christmas story perfect. Everything goes full full motion bull. Everything's connect luck in three degrees of rudolph reindeer free. He wants to be jumping back real quick rankin and bass though like for our childhood. I could say there's going to be there. Was christmas films. That i could show you that you would go. Oh yeah. don't they do like ninety percent of the claymation those do brothers. Now they did. They don't their their business. Unfortunately as of like ten years ago has been closed down more. I mean they don't really do much claymation anymore. No but like they were heavily inspired. You know with buddy the elf and they were heavily inspired with nightmare before christmas so they kind of set the bar when it comes to write doing stop motion and i wanna see the size of the rudolph the size of santa claus and all of this the characters they worked with were actually really small like rudolph was only like probably about four inches high versus like i i know in some claymation now they doing lately and make them really large because it's easier to work around right everything right but these were really small like the bumble was eighteen inches like he was the biggest one that they had to work with right. So i don't know is to want to try it. no. I definitely don't like to try russian as well like absolutely. I think we should do our own. Christmas special heart holiday animation. But well look for that in the eighteen months. Twenty twenty two exactly eighteen months for full time so actually. Let's let's shoot for twenty twenty four thirty six months from now but no there was other so many other rankin bass claymation films side from rudolf. They have one called rudolph's shiny new year. Rudolph has to go and try to find baby new year and it's are all right. Yeah i just believe me. The year without a santa claus. Yeah so there was. There's all kinds of rankin bass you can actually deep dive into rankin bass. They actually did. They're the ones that did this. Frosty the snowman cartoon that you remember. That's one of the ones. They did the one that everyone remembers his frosty with the magician rabbit and all that hocus pocus that's actually rankin bass film. So there's a lot of there was a lot lot lot when you start diving into that company. They just were pumping out holidays and the best part about holiday movies and you know this is we talked about this before.

"There's a version that came out of other knows reindeer where her menial and rudolf sing. A song called fame and fortune fame and for gen fame and for and they say this whole thing. Well the reason why that was even put in was it was in originally and they took it out because it just kind of felt awkward But the song we are a couple of misfits was owned. The rights were owned by somebody else so they had to come up with fame and fortune to fill it spot there was. There's been a couple of years word. There were a couple of misfits songs wasn't was not included in rudolph and cbs had to buy the rights. And then bring it back in but then they fucked it up in the used the animation from fame and fortune. So there's multiple versions of rudolf out. There that are just backwards. No shit and it all depends on which version you buy like. If you bought their anniversary edition you get the way it's supposed to be but if you bought like the fox home entertainment edition which is basically old. Vhs version that had fame and fortune an was all fucked up and if you record it off television in the nineties it had were a couple of misfits but the animation was wrong. It was it was a nine. I looked into aydogan. Holy crap is. I didn't realize it like you. Just think it's all part of it and you just watch it and since you only watch it once a year. It's kind of like you don't. You're not thinking you're missing anything right. You think it's complete. You know what i'm saying like remember. I don't know how much you remember. The you remember where yukon cornelius. The guy that was like the dog sled and throw his pickaxe up in like land on the ground. Like liquid fucking creeper do that. I was my favorite though. Was you look like creeper he. Also he was like look and he will. He liquors his is pick axe. Like sound effect you just base for. That was so wrong this but you know what i'm saying. That that's the sound effect. Okay but he will lick it and you're on every year you'll weizhi. Keaton style was wrong and he was able to nothing. He'd get all pissed. There was a removed seeing that explained why he did that. It was actually added back in recently. I saw it on television the other night and it explained it and i was like. That's why so at the very end of the film. When santa claus takes off can't get out you're still just gonna make that sound and put a picture on the route. Takes rudolph santa claus takeoff cornelius. Comes out of the house. And he's all he tells us dogs. That are not listening if you remember. They don't listen to him at all he's like that's how you do it. That's how you mush. And he throws pick axe up again and it lands and he picks it back up and he looks again. I'll fucking lucky and shit does that. And then he's like. I found it peppermint a peppermint mine. So the whole time was tasting it to to find a peppermint mine but they don't explain that because they drop that seen years ago search Just fucking looking looking his pickaxe all the time. Yeah so for the most part. That's your that's your dive into the little. There's a lot. There's probably a lot more random stuff like there's a big question of like everyone kind of feels like hermes also psychopath. Arc definitely want serial killer vibe from him but he wants to be a dentist and that's all find good but then when the bumble gets knocked out he just fucking like a psycho just removes his teeth novacaine. No anything just like. I like to fuck enroll teeth out. No yeah that's sorta i mean how can i get it. The other thing is you look hermes. The elf is actually the only one that doesn't have pointed ears. Yeah so he was not an elf right. so he's kind of like every every there's a big online theory of that he is related to buddy right. He's like you know. I mean that's actually a very well might how that very well might be. How the movie elf came about. I would love to say yes to that but he used that is leading to move onto elf okay because elf had a huge huge references to rudolph like jon favreau the one who actually directed health. This was one of the best guys holly right now. I directing outing. he's right. he's in the mandalorian. He's the reason why we have iron man. Yup so he's star wars marvel while he did he did lion king dude he live action right and he did elf. So i mean this guy. He knows his shit. John fabbro but jon favreau and if those of you. That may not know what he looks like. He actually has a small cameo in elf. As doc spin in iron man's bodyguard he was in couples retreat. Right as the one. He is an actor. Yeah that's how he got this earth swingers. I think it was swingers right. So he's not movie chef. Which is actually a really great movie on netflix. But but he does make a cameo in health as the doctor. He also does a cameo as the voice of the narwhal. The comes out of the water when buddies leaving where he goes. Yeah i've only seen. I've only seen bits and parts of l. o. My god classic. I know. I know it's on my list for years. Okay well you're gonna you're gonna watch it and i'm gonna tell you all this shit so now you're gonna be looking for it so now there's that so james caan plays welfare ferrell's father and health and when he got the script he was like. I don't want anything to do with the movie called. Alf no shit so as manager. Change it to like changes. He didn't to even have a title. I guess i don't know man. He just want people to see him. He's reading a movie called elf so they changed the title to elk and give it back to him and he. Yeah ok sure weird. I know that was. I was at odd find i. I'm like dude. What's the big deal. But i guess they expect to. James caan kind of be like an uptight because he's from the godfather you know kind of like uptight so will ferrell in jon. Favreau during the filming was all like let's play a prank on them and they decorated the his trailer with a christmas tree. Made out of Printed pictures of porn.

"Is the perfect christmas gift. Christmas is approaching and nine year. Old ralphie wants only one thing that bb gun but one night at the dinner table. His mother asks him. What does he want for christmas when he tells her his wish for the bb gun her. Immediate reaction is that he'll shoot his eye out he then decides on telling about his christmas wish for the begun when his teacher gives the writing assignment of what i want for christmas. Well this seems like a good idea to ralphie. This seems perfect but in the end it doesn't turn out as expected instead of an a on the paper. He gets a c plus and the same comment as his mother made. You'll shoot your eye out. There are fun scenes and plenty of belly laughs as you see. Well feed daydreaming about his gun throughout the movie. It really is a movie. that's ahead of. Its time he fantasizes about what it would be like to be a cowboy a red ryder and catch the bad guys. There are plenty of familiar scenes that i can relate to and perhaps maybe a well you can too one of which he goes to tell santa what he wants. This is classic. Because we've all done that. The red ryder. Bb gun is what he wants. Santa doesn't even back him up. He comes to the same conclusion. You'll shoot your eye out kid. And maybe he will but that's a chance he's willing to take then. Christmas comes and win. The big day arrives. He gets lots of presents under the tree including a lovely gift from his aunt. That is totally embarrassing but that his mother just adores But what about the red ryder. bb gun. He doesn't see it under the tree and it's late at night when his father asks him if he got everything he wanted for christmas. Well ralphie says yeah kind of but Did he really does the. Bb gun really materialized before. Christmas is over. I'm not going to tell you. Of course all i can say about. This movie in the end is look for other classic moments with the leg lamp and the roaming mangy dogs. You are in for a real treat and a lot of fun turn on those holiday lights and make it a movie night with your jiffy pop just kidding and if you are up for playing a few games with your fellow holiday feel-good.

That's one thing that we've actually gained during this quarantine is the things that we all have found that we enjoy to watch do together my daughter all the time she's four and she's asked she asked all the time. When are we going to san diego. Or we're getting the car or are we going to san diego not. We're just down the street. It's all doing but staying in that. You know a simple hotel and walking the streets of little italy getting ice cream and going to that restaurant meant a whole lot at a time where we definitely needed it day. You've got me crying now stop. This is like amazing. That is so awesome in. It is so true right when you've got little kids. It's just jay and i always joke. Where like there's no reason to stay in some big fancy hotel. It's just creating those memories jumping on the bed at the you know the holiday inn express and getting the free fruit loops downstairs and.

"What can people like me. Who don't necessarily have have a you know such a great attitude all the time. I get really frustrated. really demoralized. what have you done to get over that in. Keep pushing forward so the energy was the biggest thing every time we had like. We thought we were going on. We had something going and then they made us pivot. That was like the biggest thing right so we spent all this energy to do this thing and then they tell us. Hey you can't do that anymore. And the lowest. There was times where i got up. And i just don't want anything today and i didn't have to do anything right because i don't. I don't have a job to go to. I don't have a business to run. Then my kids would wake up. And i think that if it weren't for my kids and my wife we wouldn't a still be operating and my parents are great. They've had steady jobs for a long time. My dad i'm thirty four years old. My dad has been a postman for thirty five plus years so longer than i've been alive and my mom she's i remember one time distinctly during christmas that she worked three jobs to probably just buy us gifts and i don't think my party or my grandma who we live in their house right now. I don't think they would Care for me to quit. Because they didn't live their lives the way that they did in order to build up us future grandkids and kids just to lie down. And i think about them a lot not only because we live in the house that day that how the house that we live in has been in our home for since nineteen sixty four. I think they bought it and to think about my ancestors and the now my my children seamy quit something that i'm okay. I'm pretty good at. And i enjoy a lot. That would be probably the worst thing that could happen. Cove it nothing on on something like that. Moving forward. I remember one time i was. I was back squatting in our garage. And i was going for pretty pretty heavy lift and this was during covid. My son was our oldest son was watching me. he's ten and i was angry and you angry lift. It helps a lot in some cases in this case it did so angry that yelled on the way up started crying when iraq did it and i think he could see how hard i've been working and the emotion that came out was because of the effort that i was putting in and i hope i can only hope that those are the types of things that he sees and then takes on with whatever he decides to do in his life and that's it like what what else can i do. Someone asked me one time. Exactly what you just asked me. Why are you still doing. What else am i gonna do. There's nothing else to do but to keep going one step in front of the other at another place to the to the bar. Because i'm gonna. I'm gonna squatter come right back up and i'm gonna ask what else. What else could i do. And i think i first of all i love that and i think that lesson to your son right there was probably the best possible lesson you could give but i think the thing that stands out.

He's eaten all my proper tarts. Okay he is auto. The old man tried to grab ralphie but the raccoon had already started running with a grunt and groan and grumble. He pushed through the vent and back into the wall. The old man's yells chasing him all the way finally belly bulging and breath bellowing. He fell back into his little nest in the installation. Oh good breakfast. He said to himself wiggling back into his bunker bed. I could do without all the yelling. Though ralphie was soon. Snoring sweetly his little paws. Twitching at the air. Leaves rustling in the breeze. The next morning he was woken up by the sound of his own stomach. Rumbling more than rumbling it was rippling roaring like a sack full of bears in an earthquake ho. He said to himself rowley. Polling to his feet someone is singing their breakfast song. He slapped his plump tummy. Let's go and get ourselves a little bite to eat. Maybe two bites. Maybe we'll just start chewing and see where it leads us. Ralphie wound through the wall. Feeling like it was a little tighter today than it had been. Before and once he got to the whole in the event he found he could barely fit through it took a lot of jostling and jamming and jiggling but finally with a rotund ripple defense onto the closet floor extra tight today he said rubbing smooth his soft gray for now just a quick bite before the old man comes this time. Little thief ralphie listened closely wondering what they were going to do with him. He had terrible visions of being turned into stew or maybe even an extra large hat but lucky for the raccoon. Despite all his grumbling auto was an animal lover at heart. Athol got out an old cat carrier. From the attic an auto got some cooking lard and rubbed it onto ralphie sides. The rotunda raccoon was distracted by the delicious smell for a moment and then with a single slippery heave and a greased up -plore p- auto pulled him free of the vent. When they pay and it's a lot of money. It's a lot of money and it helps keep alive and I thank you for the phone call. Thank you. Thank you. It it keeps the program alive and help it trickles down to some of the other sports. That aren't major revenue producer So you know, it's Ah, It's a trickle down effect in the negative. Ralphie's in Manhattan. Hello, Ralph. Rick. It's been a while. I haven't called this station in quite some time. But you brought up something that was quite interesting in the segment before your guests, By the way, if I may. If I may comment on this, Sean Jackson, you can't change a man's heart. You can change a man's heart, no matter what kind of repercussions he may suffer. The's air, just kind of like a punishment that goes by the board because we know how the guy feels. I mean, you know, you understand how he feels with his response, and your guest brought up a very, very cogent point when he was talking about the fact that he liked the other the other man's post after he made that apology. I think that tells the tale to the greatest extent when you say No, absolutely. That's why you know Marcus is a straight shooter and as as progressive as he as he is in one direction, you know he's not, you know, biased to to the truth. And that's why I thought he would be the best guy to get on here about this because he's not goingto beat around the bush. He's going to give you both sides of it and let you analyze well to tell you. He was quite impressive. I was really impressed. I usually be honest with you. I like to hear the caller's far better than the guests. That's my usual way of going about things. But he was actually Very, very good. I want to make mention that it was a failed experiment. When we tried it. I was the English speaking person on a Spanish station speaking all sports. It's another. It's another station, a rival station. I won't mention people can probably figure it out. Figure it out. It didn't It didn't work all that well because of the I guess we would tend to go from Spanish to English, Spanish English. And and that mix did not work. I kind of backfired. I was wondering if you would think something like that in the future would be something if it was tweaked a little bit would be something that would be more would be plausible. Would you think something would work like that? If it was done correctly? Oh, yes. I think it was done correctly. I don't know. If let's say we have thought about it. It's crossed my mind and some folks Ah, few years ago, we tried to create a Spanish version of the fan. And on paper looks great When you start talking revenue, that's a wholenother story. I think if you have a hybrid Ah, a news talk slash sports station. Well run in the New York market, which is so heavily Hispanic, and it's only gonna get bigger a cz the years go on, we know For example, how how much of an effect Yankee broadcasts have in Spanish. The audience is huge. Now we know Latinos are baseball crazy, but what has what we've seen in the last few years is I look, I do football in Philly. You cannot compare the size of the Hispanic audience in New York is still the one in Philadelphia and even the Philly Latino audience, which is, you know, maybe 1 1/10 What the New York Latino audiences have come to to love the Spanish football broadcast. All right, so we know the NFL, which is gaining traction in places like Mexico City. And all over South America. As I see all the fan clubs and all that contacted, I put a bigger audience for eagles in Spanish in the Latino world in South America all over Mexico than I do, even in the city of Philadelphia. Yeah, that So I'm sorry. That's that's surprising. I'm that's very interesting. Let me run this by before I say goodbye. Appreciate the time to mate is my opinion that I'll ask you a question. I don't think baseball. I think baseball should pack it away for the year. I don't I think it's a It's an exercise in futility. What they're doing right now. I don't care for it, not just for Safety reasons. For many reason, number one. My main reason is that this game is so crucial to Spectators being there. You need people you gave Fanny asses in the seats if you will you need I need eyes on the on the on the field that are actually present in the ball park. I don't think it will work. I think it'll backfire tremendously. I wonder how you feel about that. Well, if there's one sport Ralph Ana and as usual, and welcome back. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. There's one sport that to a certain level is used to playing in front of not many people. It's baseball. I mean, let's be honest. There are a lot of minor league games. I've gone to some triple a games that they play, and there's a lot of triple a games that start at 11 o'clock in the morning during the week. When minor league baseball was still up and running. Obviously, it's not gonna happen This year you go. You go to a triple A park route for 11 a.m. start. There's nobody there. There's nobody but you know the Neary feeling Ricky When you're I've been in ballparks where you hear the crack of the bat, the echo the cavernous feel of the ball park. It's It's really a kind of Ah, very eerie feeling that I don't think the ball prate ballplayers going appreciate very much. See, I you know when you when you when you strike that ball, you turn the trip of the single into the double in the crowd roars. That's a big part of a ball game, you know? Yeah. Now you know I played Ah whiffle Ball Little league. I played little league games when I was a youngster. With my mom and dad and the mom instead of maybe five players, So it's not his abstract. I don't think as, for example, football is going Well, you know it was. You know when you want to college college football, which is basically the minor leagues of football fans, a packed stadium there. Know where along the route to the NFL. Is there a stop where you play in front of no people, So I think, Well, something stranger for football room. If somebody comes down, it comes away ill and you see this thing? God heard bid spreading It becomes very very, You know, I'm certainly not wishing for any scenario whatsoever. But if you if you happen to see this, how soon would they panic and close things it out, or would they bear with it and make adjustments? I'm talking about baseball right now. Yeah, Ralph, I You know, I don't know is his unprecedented, You know, does it take five players? Would it? Take 10 players, you know? Is it a major star that's active. I don't think anyone would hold more. You think a star would hold more magnitude than someone else? That Unless you know many, many people say that the N Ba wouldn't even be attempting this if it wasn't that LeBron said he'd be here. Tell that thing. Yeah, that's been an opinion that's been thrown out there. Uh, you know, I don't think baseball has a particular player. I mean, Mike Trout has been the most vocal about having doubts. But he's in Camp Bryce Harper Reason Camp. Um, I don't know if there's a player in baseball and once again, Ralph, Thanks for the call. I don't think there's a player in baseball that has the kind of standing or juice if Yu, whatever Yu know, adjective you want to use That LeBron has in the N V. A influence major decisions. So to answer your question, I don't know Is that 5 10 ISAT the manager hose? It's uncharted territory, but we'll soon get there and we're gonna get there. Really quick. Peterson New Hyde Park, Peter, You're on the fan. Good afternoon. How are you, sir? I am well yourself. Good. Good way. All know that This was a social injustice. What happened to this guy back.

March Madness: Britain Leaving The EU
"And that means that March twenty ninth Britain's deadline to leave. The European Union is only a few short weeks away, Brexit Brexit. In fact, there is another vote tomorrow on Theresa May's plans leave the EU and with a deadline, so close the idea of a hard Brexit is becoming much more of a reality a hard Brexit for those who don't know what that is. That is the scenario where Britain leaves the EU with no deal in place. No clear. Transition plan. No new rules to govern trading relationships. They just leave. And of course, are trying to make predictions about what would happen in the scenario, which is hard because it's difficult to predict what's going to happen on doomsday. Exactly, no one has any idea. What's going to go on? And that's the thing. The reason they're having trouble with it is that there's no precedent. No one knows. It's going to happen with Brexit because nothing like Brexit has ever happened before or has it that assumption that this hasn't happened before may not be entirely true. I'm Patty Hirsch. And I'm even Brooks today on the show. We're going back in time and halfway around the world will explore Brexit precedent in the most unlikely places and see what we can learn from it. The last time we talked to Brexit on the show was in December about a month after that Prime Minister Theresa may finally brought her plan to parliament, which you just heard for a vote the is to the right two hundred to the nose to the left full hundred and thirty two. Wow. That is the sound of defeat this rejection. And the fact that we're only weeks weeks away from a deadline makes a hard Brexit. Look, more and more likely the British government is very aware of the scary possibility, and they published a few economic reports in the subject, but the thing is the reports focus almost exclusively on the long term, which is kinda strange because the threat of a major economic problems in the short term is very real very real. Because as part of the EU the UK is bind to the rest of Europe through this intricate network of business and trading relationships that are developed over more than half a century. Those relationships are based on rules. And if you throw the rules out overnight you jeopardize the relationships. So I wanted to figure out why communists aren't taking a closer look at that short term effect. So I spoke to Peter Morell. He's a professor of economics at the university of Maryland economics. I think is a wonderful science, but it has its limitations. Means economics is really attuned to studying situations way. People are not in dissect quit Librium not reacting to circumstances. They had not into separated, you know, a communist never deal with this cutting o of of rules and cutting off of the possibility of trading on their existing relationships costs. It doesn't happen very often. You have to look for analogous situations. And that's the whole point of the checkers of accurate example that there are very few analogous situations. And that is one of them, and it was very dramatic. The Czechoslovakia example, you see Peter spent years of his career studying eastern European economies. So when Brexit started to pick up steam Peterson parallels with Czechoslovakia, it was a country that most people regarded was one of the bet of run social. A-list eastern European countries in many ways, they will God as the country that was most prepared to accomplish this mammoth task that mammoth task started in nineteen eighty nine with the fall of the Soviet Union Czechoslovakia has a peaceful revolution. And as a first order of business needs to instate some serious economic reforms. They need to dismantle the rules that govern their plan to Konami and replace them with market capitalist rules scrap one set of existing trading relationships and replace them with another. They were preparing really by destroying figuring out higher. They were going to destroy the existing institutions here. We can draw first parallel with Brexit Czecholsovakia had to remove it self from complex economic system and Britain has to do the same thing. Brexit is about destroying set of rules that had been relevant to the British economy for a long time. Time. But while it's been almost three years since the Brexit decision Czechoslovakia only had about one year. And at first things are actually looking pretty good. The economy was extremely buoyant in nineteen ninety industrial production increased over the year by a considerable amount. Retail sales were extremely buoyant rising by as much as thirty percent over the year. So after a very good economic year finally came the big day January first nineteen ninety one the day Czecholsovakia switched to a market capitalist economy, literally overnight changing this system, so Czechoslovakia walk side of the Soviet Union. No plan, no deals just an account resist this checks, it what happens a huge collapse in economic output. So we have an economy that entered a era of precipitous. Collapsed even in a country that was extremely well prepared and extremely well run. And of course, Czechoslovakia's woes did not end their the economic problems brought about a revival of tensions within the country and two years later, they separated into the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, and they're it's sort of interesting to think of England and Scotland right because in the Brexit referendum. Scotland voted very very strongly to remain in the EU sixty two percent allied margin voted to remain. So the thinking is if a hard Brexit causes economic problems in the UK Scotland might hold another referendum on independence. Then vote to rejoin the EU which is possible, I suppose, but I'll have to say I feel like we're getting head of ourselves here is it really appropriate to compare Brexit with checks it. I'm just gonna keep going the UK, right? As a modern international. I would looking at Konami tech as lavar Kia was essentially planned walled off Soviet economy there too. Very different

I think that the idea there was definitely like I'm afraid that someone's going to say, oh, if I denied a black face thing, they're going to say, I'm the one in the hood. So I better take credit for being the other guy was thinking that figured it all the way you didn't give it much thought. Cami. The guy was baseball player. So that's what they did. They said we gotta find a photo that really what does he known Ralph northern like, what would he be known for like another years from now, we're not gonna know what he's going to do. I'm sure maybe doctor. We want people who went to school him to immediately. And what would be the best picture while there's a picture of the in the in the in the operating room? No one's gonna put up a picture that everybody knows them. Laughed about that one. Oh that one. Yeah. That's a good one. Yeah. With the plaid pants that would be really good scream everybody. I love it. So he was talking to this Gayle king, and he won't even mention slavery. He called it indentured servitude indentured servants. Wow.
