"I'm Ralph Fox. Thanks for making us part of your weekend. House Republicans may seek to impeach President Joe Biden over what they allege is corruption and involvement in his son's business dealings. White House and political analyst for US News and World Report Ken Walsh joined us earlier to talk about it. I think the House Republicans will move along on impeachment. There's enormous pressure building on House Speaker McCarthy by his more hardline Republican members to push for an impeachment and he's got such a small margin there to maintain his job and he needs every vote Republican a so I think that's going to be a big calculation in his mind and so I think you will see an impeachment inquiry move along. Now whether it becomes an actual impeachment proceeding remains to be seen. Inquiry basically is gathering information so we'll see but definitely it's part of this idea of payback that is really affecting our politics in many many ways. Moving to the state level as well where there's an to impeach a newly elected Supreme Court justice in Wisconsin because she's too liberal for the dominant Republican conservative majority in that legislature so this is going on in many cases there's investigations of Hunter Biden, President Biden's son, now there's an effort to investigate family members of former President Trump so it's going on in a lot of places and there's really no planned end in sight. Yeah you mentioned those indictments you know we have a former president and party front -runner under indictment, president's son is facing possible indictments, president facing possible impeachment, is this the state of politics for the foreseeable future and if so how do you get out of it? I believe it is the state of politics and actually I'm working on a book about toxic politics and the history of it and the genesis of it and where we go from here and that's really the number one question but I think there's no end in sight to it for the near future including the 2024 national campaign I think it's going to be very nasty full of the idea of retribution and payback and I think that the country is just in their people are in their own silos they only want to believe what they already believe and they don't see information to challenge that the academics call a confirmation bias so it's a very grassroots level it's going to be a very difficult problem to emerge from and I don't see it happening anytime soon people just lock in in their views and they look to sort of punish the other side and that's a very difficult mindset for this country to break out of right now again that's White House and political analyst for US News and World Report Ken A quick look at the top stories we're working on for you here at OP it's a new day for the commanders as they kick off the season with a home game against Arizona and new poll a says voters on both sides are concerned about how old one should be to run for president and as we approach 9 -11 22 years after a dark day for the country groups taking time to remember and honor those who died stay with us for full details on these stories and more in traffic minutes ahead and weather on the 8th and when it breaks go to Brian Albin in the traffic center all right Ralph starting on the inner loop in Maryland it appears that

John olice and Baltimore mayor Brandon Scott, either considering taking over 600,000 gallons of toxic water from last month's east Palestinian railroad chemical disaster. The toxic waste would be sent to the back river wastewater treatment plant in Dundalk if the plan goes through, but county delegates Cathy chalega and Ryan rocky are questioning the treatment plant's ability to process the water. Mayor Scott says officials have received assurances from both the EPA and the state that the Dundalk plant is capable of making those treatments. There's a new top dog in town, but not everyone's tails are wagging with the news. For the first time in 31 years, Labrador retrievers were bumped from the top spot on the U.S. favorite dog breed list. So what replaced it? The French bulldog. Unfortunately for the French east, the news is worrisome to some of its fans and critics. That's because this concern that demand for the dog plus the premium and some people will pay for a specific Coke color and texture is endangering the breed. That's because breeders will make dogs that maybe should not be procreating together, creating breathing, spinal eye and skin conditions. Vets that specialize in treating frenchies say owners need to research breeders and do some health testing. They also need to be aware of how expensive some of the problems that you thought face can be to treat. The other important thing to know, that say, is these dogs need exercise. While they look very cute and cuddly in your purse, they need to run around and be active. So make sure to shop and adopt wisely. Brian Dan Miller, CBS News.
