Former NFL Player Kills Doctor and His Family in Murder-Suicide

"Player apparently shot and killed a well known doctor, his wife, two grandchildren and somebody working in the home in Rock Hill, South Carolina before turning the gun on himself a horrifying scene. Philip Adams was a player with the Seahawks, the 40 Niners, the Raiders and the Jets. He opened fire at the home in Rock Hill late Wednesday afternoon. Killed in the shooting. Dr Robert Leslie, who was a well known emergency room. Advocate and author and physician. His wife, Barbara, was 69 2 of their grandchildren. Nine year old Ada Leslie and five year old Noah Leslie were all killed. Ah, fifth victim 38 year old James Lewis. It was working at the home at the time was also fatally shot. Adams died by suicide. Raiders make surprise pick in latest Mel Kiper Jr. mock draft

"Mock draft three point. Oh is available on. Espn plus right. Now and here. We go no surprise at the top. Trevor lawrence has been there and we'll be there for the moment and started to the moment. That pig is made. He's going jacksonville. And that's not going to change at number. Two mel projects the jets to stay put and select quarterback zach wilson who would be the team's highest drafted quarterback since they took joe nemeth thousand nine hundred sixty five at number three. We have a trade that panthers would move up from number eight to select justin fields from ohio state carolina getting its quarterback of the future miami. Picking up more prime picks. And the falcons make it four for four to begin the draft selecting their quarterback of the future trae lanes. Should it go this way. It would be the first time ever that quarterbacks go with each of the first four picks in the draft. We take a look at the rest of mel's top ten. After the four consecutive quarterbacks we see some other names you will get to know. Kyle pitch superstar tight end. More pass catchers jamarcus devante smith jail waddell notably absent on this screen. Max jones the fifth quarterback in this first round the star from alabama who mel projects. Going number fifteen to the new england patriots and let's start there because mel we spoke about this the last time you broke this down for us. You had max jones going considerably higher namely number eight overall. Why do you see this drop. Greenwich carolina eight with matt rule had max jones at the senior bowl practices where he was exceptional right. So you figure carolina's stuck at eight. They would look at mack. Jones new england and fifteen is built. Bellichik nick sabin connection and obviously looking at a quarterback to get back to. Maybe the tom brady days. Okay get your that type of quarterback which is what mack jones is his style and the way he goes about his business as a pocket passer so once carolina in my mach three point. Zero was moving up to get justin field. Mack jones next opportunity to come off. The board for me would be new england at fifteen.

"The bears are always about a five hundred team eight and a half means they should win. Eight and a quarter. Why is that number seven. I could Yeah i'm over on the bears. Steelers are at eight. And a half steve with the juice to the over interesting that the steelers eleven. Oh and then. The injuries hit and the team. Clearly just was not the same. There's a real concern. That big ben could fall off the cliff even though he's not that old this year if he doesn't you've got to go over with pittsburgh. Yeah i'm with you. I like over pittsburgh as well. Pittsburgh was good to me last year. Indianapolis they're number is ten with carson. Wentz i gotta tell you. My initial reaction is to take the under. I mean he's got approved to me that he can get rid of whatever. The heck happened him last year. Yes so and look at the quarterback. I agree for the colts like you look at rivers versus whence so pretty comparable maybe rivers last year. A little bit better than once. The look at the backup quarterback. Would you rather have jacoby percents or would you gotta look at. India has no backup quarterback In right now yes. I've jacob easson rated five points worse than an average quarterback in the nfl. So if whence doesn't work out or gets hurt. You win automatically. I can only look on what about the patriots at nine very interesting because you were higher on the patriots than i was when we were forecasting. What the number would come. And now it is has indeed come at nine. It's hard to believe that cam newton's going to make them a ten and seventeen but while they won seven and they're much better. This year looks a ballot numbers. Exactly right. I think there are nine and seventeen. Cowboys are at nine and a half. I don't understand the cowboys. I game and a half better than washington steve. The i think the play is not necessarily on dallas but it's to play washington to go over eight and i think that that's one of the stronger place on the board here giants at seven. No real opinion on the giants. If anything you know asking a team that has been a perennial loser to suddenly. Get too close to five. Hundred is asking a lot. In general it seems like if you play all these teams projected to be just a little bit below five hundred to go under. You've done very well. In recent years. Raiders are at seven and a half there. I kind of feel like the raiders. Win eight or nine games. I i would lean over with. The raiders raiders. The last two years if you look at the number of wins. They've had versus what they what they're expected they've consistently done better in win. Losses than in points scored the old thiam Theorem where you look at a team. And if they're getting outscored by fifty points you know they. They certainly shouldn't have been a five hundred team. So the raiders. Having outperformed the last two years i would tend to look to them to go under what about the jaguars at six and a half. It all depends on lawrence. And how well that he comes into the nfl. And i'm really not sure because i'm gonna pass. Yeah i think. I would lean under. I met at the bunch of wind. Division is not that great. That's what they got rolling forum.

Did Washington Do Enough to Push Dallas in the NFC?

"Did washington football teams teamers and the giants do enough to push dallas in the nfc. So i left philly out. I don't yeah. I just don't i am found anyone who really thinks they're going to be competitive. I mean let's wait and see got jalen whatever. But that's a team that they're not really fun to talk about. Because their free agency considered like stripping you know but i mean they did sign at harris for like nothing which is probably better sightings but what you have in jalen also you serianni. Yes hundred percent but washington in york both very active and did interesting. Things i think are worth discussing because dallas after the dak prescott deal was finally done. They've kind of made a few moves around the margins adding kia neil. Getting tied as kind of swing. Tackle still have question marks at adra sure and coroner but washington like i think they might have had my favorite free agency or at least the one that i'm most excited to see. I don't know payoff on the field. So just to recap. They signed the aforementioned ryan fitzpatrick one year. Ten million dollars. They tag branch eff. Who's there Pro bowler guard. They signed william jackson from the bengals. Cornerback three years. Forty two million dollars and then added panthers wide receiver. Curtis samuel for three years thirty four point five million dollars so just starting like let's start here. Do you agree with me like do you. Do you like what they did. And do you think it makes them an actual competitor in the division. A really like what. Washington did You know. I think among the guys among the quarterback that they could get because not only were they never in it for russell wilson or or wherever really going to be competitive for shawn watson You had to start looking okay. We'll what's realistic. And it's the ryan fitzpatrick coming off his best his career. It's an andy dalton and whereas that really gonna lead you I think that there was a lot of interest in marcus. Mariota he still is not able to sign with another team because the raiders are still holding him hostage But so. I like the quarterback. Move because you're essentially saying let's build up the team the and let's have the strongest team possible around the quarterback position where we don't sell out just because we have to for that position free agency. Maybe they make a move at the draft for a guy that they have their eye on. Or maybe they just say let's. Let's keep the boat floating this year and let's make our move Next free agency. So i thought that they probably overpaid by million or two on curtis samuel. But they wanted him And and ron rivera really likes them. Obviously william jackson an incredible deal You look around and you need another pass rusher and they can they can probably keep ryan kerrigan as a third down specialist if he comes down off his number end so you know he's he's still doing that. He's gonna get paid a whole lot of money. I'm not sure that that money is really out there especially at this point in free agency so they didn't want to mortgage their future for for quarterback right. Now they wanted to keep the boat afloat. I that and so. I like what they have done. Specially on evens. Then when you consider the the sort of offense and the pre-snap that they can have with all those offensive playmakers. Now that curtis annuals there with terry corn. I really like with done.

Top 10 players signed by Patriots

"Talk about the Patriots. The the Patriots grabbed everybody's attention by making move after move after move after move. Like we're watching it over agency going off. How many people are going to bring in its kind of unbelievable how many starters they've added? And so I count they added ten players that I think are very very significant to their team next year. In fact, I would say pretty clearly the Patriots are back and a lot of people saw this coming, you know, but they are going to be a force in the NFL next year here is my list my nerdy list of the ten players the top players. They added that are very significant to their roster next year. The first two are massive. It will reshape the entire Patriots offense. They added two tight ends Johnny Smith and Ed Hunter Henry. To Johnny Smith signed from Tennessee. He signed a four year deal worth up to fifty million dollars. That's Thirty one point two five million dollars guaranteed and he's only twenty-four years old. So that's Monday. That's a really gigantic Marquis franchise player. He cited the reason why it came to New England is cuz he loves Bill Belichick. He's got great respect for him. And I want to point out of all the everybody I'm about to talk about these shows to be in New England Bill Belichick got his kind of guys who sought out New England wanted to be there and wanted to work hard and win a Superbowl. I think it matters. It's very very exciting. These are not with Josh Gordon's or what's the other example Phillip Dorsett who they made a move for and they're not really like that. You think they fit they don't work out know. These are guys who all chose to be in New England who wanted to win a Superbowl. I really want to win a Superbowl. These guys went out of their way to be New England now the other tight and they brought in With twenty-six-year-old tight end Hunter Henry from the LA Chargers got a three-year deal twenty-five million dollars guaranteed. It's worth up to thirty seven point five million dollars total if he meets all those incentives. They also added two wide receivers the Patriots brought in Nelson agholor to a you got a two year twenty six million dollar contract East twelve years old. Now a lot of people do not like this move and I I get it Nelson agholor is not the most flashy player in the NFL but I think if it's very well with Cam Newton, he's good at he's not going up and getting the ball. He's got good hands did some stuff of the Raiders that I think deserves your attention go watch what he did with the Raiders and I just I'm like, huh a lot of good plays. Okay. I understand. I see the potential Bill Belichick and the Patriots would see and Nelson agholor go will give the guy a good contract, especially considering the Patriots have like our desolate at wide receiver. They need help. They got home. Who is awesome but he can't do everything by himself from the slot. They have n'keal Harry who n'keal Harry. I I think he's going to pop. I think he's going to progress and keep getting better. But she's not a number one right now. So on top of the page where it's also added Kendrick Bourne guy from my local area actually went to Eastern Washington University 25 years old. He's coming from the San Francisco 49ers. He got a three year deal worth twenty two point five million dollars. Now another thing the Patriots did they also added they signed Center Ted carriages and they traded for tackle Trent Brown. So this is the new Patriots offense right now. They've receivers Nelson agholor, Julian Edelman Kendrick born and kill hair is its own nuclear Aguilera. I'm doing my best. It's a hard game to say. They also have Sony Michelle running backs for any receivers Sony Michelle at running back and improved offensive line. Cam Newton at quarterback who I get why people doubt Cam? He's a former NFL MVP and with when you put cams Talent with a lot of weapons including two outstanding tight ends Hunter Henry Smith, right man. I'll tell you what I look at the Patriots offense and think two things immediately number one. Everything is going to run through their brand new Titans. Their entire offense now is probably going to drive down the seams of the field right up the middle. They're going to use our tents heavily lot of play-action again. I am scheme wise things will look a lot like the page words did back in the day when they had drunk and Aaron Hernandez together to start tight ends. Now number two. I feel very very confident with Cam Newton as the Patriots quarterback and it surprised me but I want to remind you that two years ago. Tom Brady was the page word starting quarterback and did basically nothing and the reason was there were no weapons there. He kept running into the same brick wall. His receivers weren't good enough. So, how can I think you and I would both agree. I like Cam Newton Tom Brady's a better quarterback than Cam Newton. So my point is if Tom Brady couldn't make it work with New England's roster. How was Cam Newton supposed to succeed? He was set up to fail will now Cam Newton's being given weapons is being set up to do. Well, I'm excited man. He's a former NFL MVP, he's hungry. I I personally believe Cam Newton's going to have an awesome year and it really is going to make extended one-year deal with like it was like three and a half million dollars with a bunch of incentives. I honestly think we're gonna look back at his contract at the end of next year and go. Can you believe the deal they got on Camden he played so well for no money. I really think he's he's a guy who can didn't play well enough wage. Last year to earn a new gigantic contract. So he's going to have to show what he can do this year and maybe earn more money next year but I think cam is poised to do very very well and make a lot of money and win a lot of games in New England

Free Agency 2021: Biggest Winners and Losers From Day One

"Who's the biggest winner from day. One the biggest winner from day one already told you it was. It was a my intro. You're listening great question. Jonnu smith out. It's cam newton. Well that depends kenyans a starter for sixteen games. That's right that's true. It's yeah okay. Potentially find jonah smith. Donald smith big contract with the patriots They invest heavily in him. You like this for him i do. I think you know Obviously the quarterback is the concern. But this is the scenario especially with the move that they made that we look for in fantasy as tight end could be the leader of the pack in terms of targets and opportunities and so look cam was not good in twenty twenty. If cam does start sixteen games in two thousand twenty. One greg olsen. During a five year stretch was pretty awesome of the top tier tight ends of the guys that we did. We talk about what he was in the next group you know. And so from twenty two thousand twenty sixteen. Greg olsen averaged a hundred eighteen targets a season seventy seven catches Decide one thousand yards and five times. Johnny could do that. One season estimate put them right around a top five tight end. Greg olsen was great and not only was he great but we also saw from cam newton in that stretch that he could give you greg olsen. Who could finish as a top eight tight in five straight seasons and give you a number to wide receiver in four of those five seasons three or four of those five seasons whether it was. Steve smith or kelvin. Benjamin and even ted ginn one year. So that's interesting. I'll afforded talking about that on the show tomorrow on the tuesday morning show and then of course we'll have a whole bunch of more news items to react to. Hopefully we'll get some kenny golladay news at some point on tuesday or maybe it'll happen later on monday night as record this at about nine fifteen eastern. Who's the biggest loser from day. One the biggest loser from day one on asking these questions before. I told you that we were starting with these egypt's before the show The biggest guys they ryan tannehill johnny smith and Us down smith and corey davis They're going to have to struggle to replace those guys Davis probably more. So the jonah just from the standpoint of what he was last year with his production number two receiver sixty five catches nine hundred plus yards and five touchdowns. So we'll see what they do in in in that in that regard but i think Tannehill you know. I had him as the number eleven quarterback. I dropped in the thirteen after today. Just because i think it was close between in my mind. Joe burrow and tom brady put them behind both those guys. Okay how 'bout jameis winston ryan tannehill right now. It's soom jameis winston as the starter. I still go. i think it'd be messy. You know. I can't situation we're taking those not blaming So i was hoping james would go someplace else and tastes hill. Would still be the guy with maybe a rookie or somebody. Young that they could groom continued. Just gonna to get you know too much of the mill package of james as the starter and if as milton starter. Davis is gonna play very much so it just feels like it be messy situation oil. Who do you like better. Corey davis with the jets nelson agholor with the patriots. I think adler is going to be bad. I don't trust the situation. You know i mean he. He had so many big. Plays for the raiders last year and he was so good for derek carr but he did that on eighty two targets. I don't think he gets eighty two targets with the patriots. He's going to do the same thing. So with what cam does running the ball with what jonah smith brings to the table with. What the rest of the receiving corps will look like if julian edelman on the team if he's healthy Nagla is going to be A guy that's not on many fantasy rosters middle of the season whereas corey davis could be the best receiver for the jets. I don't know if that's going to be the case. But i would take davis by far over niagara.

"raiders" Discussed on Vegas Nation - Raiders Football

"Twenty one at the raiders are are going to keep him and he's due to make ten point six million dollars. That is his base salary for cap. Hit just above that ten point seven million dollars and they already paid off his guarantees. We know they brought him on in twenty twenty as the highest paid backup quarterback in the nfl of kind of rebuilding project after sustained some injuries and lost his starting spot in tennessee now he proved during that one game he played was only a game against the chargers this past season but he came off the bench and was very impressive. In relief of derek carr injured his neck game up showcasing mobility a throw. The ball downfield being accurate. Making good. Save for the one interception really playing is as well as you would expect or as well as people could have hoped giving the situation. He was coming off the bench to having not played for for more than a year. I say all that to say. I would be surprised if the raiders. Bring him back at that at that salary at that point regimented nathan peterman because it feels like with bring him back the word they've spent with him he's been on the roster a couple years now really feels like they've tried to develop him into a backup kind of quarterback in somebody. You know not just a little cheaper significantly cheaper than marcus more yards so it gives them. Maybe there's another team in that mold of indianapolis of a chicago of a washington football team. Who can't find who doesn't find their long-term answer quarterback this off season and saw they like from our iota. Maybe they go out there and trade for him whether it's a future draft pick or player. Whatever or if that doesn't happen if there's not a market that materialized for marcus myo cup eight with him. He becomes a free agent and they walk away without having to pay any of that guaranteed money. That was taking care of a twenty twenty so the peterman moved to me. Heidi definitely feels like he's going to become the backup or that. He solidifies his role as a backup. Quarterback doesn't Sense given the needs. The raiders have across the the other side of the ball on defense and even on the offense a little bit trampled through the offensive line and round out. The receiving core doesn't make sense to pay marcus. Mariota that kind of money to not so last year when we looked at it about this time of year we were talking about. Maybe mariota is going to challenge car and car could be you know. Absurd to his. I starting spot there. But that wasn't the case it turned into more of a. We're going to try to look and let him heal with marietta and let them develop and learn the system. Do you think though that other teams have seen enough in the about three quarters of work that they were able to see. Mariota put in with the raiders. Think other teams saw enough for the raiders to be able to actually shop him as backup or make some sort of trade with somebody else. Not necessarily i think it's one of those things where push comes to shove a. We're kind of at the end of that. Free agency period was after the draft is still teams. That don't have solidified their quarterback solidified. Then maybe they go out there and make a move. But i don't think he's the kind of player right now at this at least at this point in time we know about the talent. Let's not forget. He was number two overall pick and he has had some success in the league..

Seattle Seahawks Today: Latest Rumors On A Russell Wilson Trade

"Originally or a few a few weeks ago russell. Wilson's camp released some information that he was unhappy in seattle. They have not formally requested a trade but it seems like the relationship has some conflict there. he has a no trade clause in his contract. There were specific exemptions from four. Team's the cowboys. The saints the bears and las vegas after dak prescott signed is extent like talked about and the raiders recently have back derek carr. They've given their full support. They they wanna move forward their cars. So that really leaves the saints and the bears as the final two candidates for possibly getting russell wilson this offseason so saints are always in salary cap trouble From what. I've learned about the salary cap they can. They ended up being able to just move money around when they need to. But they're always close to reaching that point so they're always during the cat but it seems unlikely that they will be able to make a move for quarterback this price in this caliber. So when you re comes down to it. The bears like the front runners as the most desperate team. Four quarterback if you've watched the nfl shares have always had quarterback issues. They've been in quarterback hell so to speak for the past two decades and russell. Wilson could come in and immediately fix that so the bears are desperate. And i see the bears as the front running candidate to lead russell wilson or land russell. Wilson this offseason. So when did all this start with russell. wilson is come out of nowhere I would say to myself when i first saw. Russell wilson wants out. I was shocked. But although it's not that cut and dry comes down to russell wilson. Mp carol's relationship. So they've won a superbowl. They made playoffs made. They made the playoffs. Eight times in the last nine seasons which is absurd. It's absurd to think there was wasn't been playing in the nfl for the last nine seasons But he's been assault as they come. He's true winner. he goes to the playoffs. he's clutch and i see. The situation is very similar to the tom. Brady situation new england. You had tom brady and bill play for all those years. Winning all those super bowls and talk. Although tom brady wasn't playing up to his level he wasn't playing bad and they had that loss to the titans of the playoffs. And i think he just had those two egos bill. Belichick and tom brady kind of going at each other. And they've they've finally kind of just tired of that relationship and they wanted to move on. They wanted to start. Something new. And when quarterbacks are with the head coach for so long things start to take a turn for the worst so. I'm not sure if that's exactly what's happening with p carroll and russell wilson but there are a lot of similarities there so it was reported in week. Eleven of the season. That wilson stormed out of an offensive meeting when he was trying to offer insight as to what he wanted done as on a bit done for protection standpoint and so that was the first sign the second sign is just overall. He's been getting hit way. Too much. says he's sacked. He's been three hundred ninety four times since entering the league which is on pace to be the most sat quarterback of all time which is pretty insane when you consider how well he's played and he's just been under duress running for his life literally for the last his whole career and so seattle hasn't found a way to kind of sure up that protection for him. I think that's starting to get frustrating as well. So but more specifically in two thousand twenty. He had a week nine loss to the bills. This was a defining moment for this offense offense because after that moment. Russell wilson had started to throw a lot of turnovers making a lot of risky plays they lose to the bills. The seahawks kind of started to scale the offense back like i said to limit turnovers and did not perform well for the rest of the season so before that game. They were top. Three league based on expected points added per play. They were the number three the top three leak and then after that game from from weeknight on they felt a number eighteen the remainder of the season. So that's a huge huge drop off so they really sputtered down the stretch. They were able to win games and make the playoffs through to their defense. Kind of picking picking up. Their play was weird. Their offense was so good in the beginning the defense awful and he kind of flipped that latter half of the year but he's also getting hit It doesn't seem to meet on their offensive loss of beat philosophy and he. He's definitely voiced that he wants more of a say. In the franchise direction as the franchise quarterback so all these things culminating into one is. Where would he end up.

What the Trent Brown trade tells us about Bill Belichick’s thinking

"Notable today trent brown. The you know pro bowl top you know. Left tackle offensive tackle in the entire. Nfl when the top guys on they traded him back to the patriots this interesting he was unhappy clearly The raiders were unhappy clearly because he's barely played so even while the raiders had like this dominant offense align at times. Trent brown was even playing for them. Sometimes you know last year. I feel like he barely played due to injuries and everything else. So the raiders weren't appreciate the effort. They felt like he could push through some of that probably. They felt like he was out of shape. You know Might may i came out and said that that when he's in shape and healthy is one of the best hackles ofo ball when he's not he's no good for you so My assumption is my guess of. I had to predict out. Trent brown will be entirely healthy next year. Because he's a patriot now and so he will not do injury concerns. He won't have all these issues because he's happy because he thinks he's on a winning team. No surprise surprise. Trent brown the patriots wearing good last year. The patriots. don't even have a quarterback sir. They don't if he can't come back. That's great but bro. You don't even know your protection. You don't even know how this even the plow because they didn't play out so hot last year now another get a lot of players back that You know took a year off because of covid. I fully assume. Bill belichick is anna. Start to repair this team. The best he can But you know the they're left guard go. I believe they decided to franchise tag him. That'll be interesting. But this always you know as a raiders fan. This kind of stuff always annoys me because players leave the traded with ever. They go to another team. Take the pay cut because he was getting paid. More with the raiders. That was annoys move. Obviously the raiders always play pay. You know a bonus they always have to pay up compared to other teams especially a successful team like the patriots so right so okay that comes with the territory. Donate to play the game. I respect that. And then you know. I hate when these guys on twitter and they started. Tweet tweeting my. They're so happy so excited. It gives me those antonio brown vibes when he left the raiders. So yeah that's it's frustrating but listen term row with some non baloch patriots at which But it's raiders all

Titans Trade 2020 First-Round Pick To Dolphins

"By seeing the titans finally Traded the offensive linemen. Isaiah wilson their first round pick Twenty twenty first round. Pick these kind of things you see this as a fan of a team you know. Just put yourself in their shoes for a second. I know i know they're the enemy if you're not a titans fan but the fact that your team has to trade a first round pick before the next season starts i s terrible man. It's as bad as the raiders. Have not limbaugh because they understood. What the hell. They were doing with him but he was later pick. But this guy didn't even get a chance to play. Because kobe did all that and then he calls all kinds of issues he was tweeting stuff out and delete and stuff. Titans saying get out of your man. They literally they treat him for nothing. They traded a him seventh round. Pick in two thousand twenty two for seventh-round twenty twenty one. I think just terrible it is. That's horrible man. If i was a fan of that team i'd be pissed and that's a good football team. It's a well run football team so to see that happen to them sucks. But i'm glad that they cut that in now. They got rid of that. When you when you see that kind of stuff grow him. Just get rid of it. So if you're a titans fan while you're not happy about the pick you gotta be happy about the urgency that he took the no nonsense approach to just move on from. It didn't work out. He wasn't working out. You move on cut bait and you and you move on i. I respect that quick action. You know when when is justified. When is justified. I believe it's justified in this case. So hey you know. Maybe the dolphins will have something here ability to work there. It don't look great. The dolphins take chances. That is a hell. I talked about limbaugh. They took limbaugh from the raiders to that worked out. Well so you know maybe this one workout. We'll

Senate Ends Hope for Significant Wage Hike

"So we got the senate doing their senate thing today. Right to vote a rama. There's all these amendments and there was standoff happening in something that happened there today. A seven democrats and one independent who caucuses with democrats joined with republicans to shoot down raising the federal minimum wage to fifteen dollars an hour as part of the biden cove. Relief package among those democratic. Novo's joe manchin of west virginia. Chris coons of delaware. The moment that really stood out was when arizona democrat. Kirsten cinema walked up to cast her. Vote miss cinema cinema. No out she represents arizona. Maybe that was a homage to the late. John mccain. Who famously did that to that. Repeal vote but that full thumbs down from arizona helped end hopes for a really big wage hike that the congressional budget office says directly affect seventeen million american workers on a bringing maria. Teresa kumar co founding president and ceo voto latino fetchacure former senior adviser senate democratic leader harry reid and current advisor to bernie sanders. Faz let me start with you. I want people to understand this. Vote before we analyze us. This was a vote that was going to fail either way. It was essentially a symbolic message. Vote because it needed sixty votes filibuster -able so going into this. Everyone knows it's not gonna be talking to pass. No republicans are going to vote for it. So it's a free ride. It's a layup you get up there and say yes. We want to fifteen our minimum wage. So it was very very surprising to me. A lot of people to see democrats eight of them in the caucus vote. No what is your explanation. Of course you've got to go back in history. A little bit where. President obama suggested raising the minimum wage to ten ten. It was hillary clinton during the two thousand sixteen campaign who suggested raising it to twelve. It was bernie sanders. Who's been pushing along with you to raise the wage to fifteen dollars an hour. And as a result of that we have gotten a lot of progress in the democratic caucus and not all the way clearly and painful. Chris you take senator cinema arizona's got a twelve dollar minimum wage. And in fact if you look at raise the wage which gradually raises the minimum wage to fifteen dollars over five years it would be at twelve fifty by year. Three which is where harris zona is so many ways it doesn't really impact arizona and yet you have center for cinema denying many people. Millions of people around the country are arrays of their wages. Maria wha what did you make so. I used to work in congress. A- as a hill staff for a long time ago on preparations and this was fairly unusual. Because what those eight did was say. That they were not going to deliver the biden agenda in the biden administration. Right now is going to figure out how to channel little lbj and demonstrate that there are consequences when there are not voting down for the presence agenda. As you mentioned. chris. This was a layup but i have to say when we when we witnessed this thumbs down by cinema. I think for a lot of folks people felt at at odds because when john mccain did it it was to save healthcare for millions of americans when she when she did today was turned down. This idea that there was going to be some sort of economic closer to economic committee. For millions of americans and fifteen dollars has even fifteen dollars does not keep pace with the with the inflation rate of the nineteen. Seventies the raiders really. I established it was perplexing on many many fronts but this is an opportunity really for joe biden to say. You're going to have to come down to the white house because we're gonna have a talking

California Lawmakers OK $6.6 Billion Plan To Incentivize Schools To Reopen, Lawmakers Say Not Enough To Get Schools to Re-Open

"California schools the beginning more funding if they choose to reopen for in person instruction. But Senator Brian Jones says new legislation approved today provides the monetary support for schools but doesn't mandate any actions to get him open. While it's billions of dollars available to local school district, there's nothing in the bill that actually requires the school districts districts to reopen a sum of money. Mark Levine says. Everyone wants schools open, but they need more resource is to do it safely. We've been sent by schools to reopen by providing money that is necessary to make sure that they can follow safety protocols. Even so many lawmakers air worried that's still not enough to get schools open gave because Jensen Raider goes in depth on the debates. It's 6

NFL cuts expected to be a ‘massacre,’ ‘bloodbath’ next week

"We are on the fringe. We're nearing free agency. Actually just read a very interesting to tweet about a nfl coach. Saying that next week was gonna be a bloodbath. with the cap situation Do the covid that it's going to be a very interesting year. A lot of people are going to be getting cut prior to free agency to free up room. So we'll see what happens In you know the free agents were talking about might not even be like the big guys you know we end up signing at the end of the day so one big name we have been talking about and you specifically talked about this guy. Quite a bit is joni From new england the patriots are not going to use the franchise on him again. They can't do it. They they're cap situation would allow forward. I believe but with what you end up making the second time around. It really doesn't make any sense to them. As i was listening to boston. Sports radio their day like they were talking about that. Very topic so loonies. He's a big name. being fans. Love is a big often. Attack was out there And they've got to think about bringing their own guys. Back to william jackson in kara lawson entering free agency. So that's a big big names in some big money right there. What what can really afford to do. So that you you hit the list You hit you hit the big players. They're they have of course two big guys. Internally that are scheduled to be free agents in jackson and lawson one of those may end up getting the franchise tag. Probably the non-exclusive. If i had a bad at this point i'd probably say it's carl lawson and and we don't know the exact figures yet but they'll come out soon what the values will be But it's based position and since deandre get paid a little bit more than corners. Speed deanne tag is going to be a little higher. But i think that's a cost of the bengals are willing to take just to avoid the risk of losing carl. Potentially at an already weakened spot you know masterpass russia's spin has been existent Especially last year And i think room on bengals dot com had a couple of comments today from an article today saying they're looking to shore up the pass rush and he didn't mention actually edge rusher cement of course interior pressure which was good to see liu mentioned and we can talk about some interior linemen. Who are going to be on the market that could provide some interior. Pass rush to collapse the pocket if you will but to your question about what. They can't afford i. There is a way for them to structure these contracts with the amount of space that they have available. Of course we don't know what official cap will be just like we don't know what the tag amounts are going to be. We don't really know the final numbers quite yet. We know the cap can't go below one eighty But let's assume it stays right at that floor. I been under the working on the assumption that it's going to creep up to one eighty five rather optimistically but who knows if it gets that high. Is you mentioned kobe. Kobe tope took all essentially all the local revenues that these teams generated and made it two zero for almost all of them. There are some teams based on the cities and state. They were in that allowed some attendance. That really you know. It was a small percentage of what a normal season would be. So they're sitting in a good spot. Relatively speaking in terms of current cap space. There are about thirty seven million once you account for the almost eleven million. They rolled over last year. So at that point if they just stay there. They're they're currently line to be seventh most in cap space and that's a lot to work with in terms just resigning those guys internally and then going out on the market for tuning type of player ariba some more mid tier guys in the bond bell mold last year. You know a more of a modest deal where you get a lot of value in that regard but if they ended up staying put without making cuts and being seventh and cap space that gives them a lot of flexibility. But i think to your earlier point. We are gonna start seeing a lot more cut. We started seeing some today. There were some report. I think gave jackson the right guard for the raiders is not. There's a report that they they're looking to trade their right tackle trent brown. If they can't find a trade partner they'll likely cut him too. So the market's going to be flooded. It's going to be starting to be flooded. It's going to be even more so and on the bengals and they're likely to make some calm cap cuts. They don't need to make them because they have plenty of room. But just the value is not there to keep some of these guys on the books. You know the names. Bobby heart which will save just under five point nine million. Bj phinney will save three and a quarter million with no dead money and then of course geno atkins. We've talked about the gino situation Pretty at length and the question will be whether they released him. Post june one or or designated or releasing prior to june one or designate him or our releasing post you one which adds a little bit more savings to it but if you cut those three guys even if you don't cut gino with a post june one designation that adds about nine million in addition In additional cap space. So if you had that. Nineteen to thirty seven. Obviously naira almost sixty million and fifty six million give or take And that would baltim- in the top five of capital so they have a lot of flexibility to enter the long-term extensions with both their internal free and to go out on the market and signs of sizeable Upgrades hopefully on the offense line and positions that they they really need to

S6 E5 - How do I maximize my VA disability benefits? - burst 1

"Hey just a quick before we get things kicked off here. I do want to let you know that. There is some strong language throughout this episode so listener discretion is advised. If there's five step process but there's indefinite general over overarching rules that she must consider but it is very procedural. It's they're not looking at compeer in the wall and analyzing while i'm analyzing the case law even the references to it. They're not opening pay. Everyone welcome to season six episode. Five of we served now. What it on this podcast. I do my very best to answer the questions. That veterans and their families are all ready asking my name is aaron perkins on the host of this show and the founder of courage to fight again an hour parent organization. I'm also the author of resolve. Which is a step by. Step guide for q the veteran to help you rediscover purpose meaning and passion and your post military life. Today's topic when the show is via a disability. What you need to do to submit it and not just what to do with. How do it bright outta appeal it. Should you appeal that well. That work all those things and more in today's show. I had a chance to sit down with a couple of really great guys who have done their homework on this. They do this kind of thing. Every single day. Greg colton and will simmons and we set down and chat or mojos that hour and a half i had to cut out unfortunately a lot of that conversation but the week to that full interview can click on the link in the show notes. And that'll take you to a form review request access to that whole uncut interview. And you could watch that in its entirety video interviewed. Please please take advantage of that. But for now i'm going to get out of the way. Make this intro as short and sweet as possible and let you hear the part of the show. The part of our conversation that i was able to stick into this episode here fleas. Enjoy my conversation with greg. Colton and wilson's check it out. Well i am here today with two honestly powerhouses in this field talking about increasing eight disability benefits. I'm here with gregg golden easy. Us navy veteran. This guy has twenty five twenty five years of sea level experience in financial technology compliance security investigation. All these things he's worked with numerous law firms used his own experience with the va to build something really cool. And i know he's gonna wanna talk about that more on this show but it's very good to have you on the show today greg. I'm also here with will simmons. He's a us army veteran former va founder. And managing attorney at simmons law. And i gotta tell you. I could not have asked for a more knowledgeable. Duo to answer veterans questions about va a disability benefits. So i want to just say to both you guys. Welcome to we serve now. What oh thank you very much Very happy to be here with you. you know my own experience of five years in the navy and thinking i came out and was was everything was great. You know always young. And i was happy in that aitken painted matter a whole lot. You know then. I got my late forties and early fifties and realized yeah does kind of hurt a little. Bit so yeah. I'm happy to be here with you and Look forward to the conversation. Will everybody will simmons Absolutely happy to talk to you today. About incentive Something near and dear to my heart. china passion play for me Having gone from ten percent disabled the a lump sum of less than eight hundred bucks and a holy shit. Now what am i gonna digress. My life to one hundred percent permanent total my law degree and my mba so There are programs out there to better your life and puts you in a position to dramatically. Change your life for the better and happy to talk about that too. That awesome awesome. Well let's start our conversation today guys with the transition out of the military. Maybe greg we can start with you. Tell me a bit more about your own transition story what you did right what you wish. You would have known things like that sure. Well you know when. I got out of those one clive in the military. I went through paramedic school in my last year in the military. So i was busy guy for you know. Fourteen sixteen months in the last days in the military. I was also going to civilian paramedic school. So i didn't sleep in as i got out. I worked as a paramedic and did fine. And then i realized that really didn't make a whole heck of a lot of money for all of the responsibilities that i had and that i wanted to do more but i wasn't quite sure how to do. And if i if. I known then what i know now. I would have in fact on to law school however i was a single parent of a two year old and a five year old and i did that for more than fifteen years and i can assure you that. There's nothing fun about going full time college and also trying to get You know to be a good parent and to provide the income necessary and i had that entrepreneurial spirit and i wanted to grow in in and have a big business that that was bringing the wealth i wanted and building it from my retirement and it just There wasn't a lot of of a maps out there. Do this do this do this do this. And through twenty five years of experience. I figured it out and and we've done well and i'm in. I'm thrilled with my past. The navy taught me so much about responsibility and accountability and and those are certainly tenants to be an entrepreneur. No question about it but there was no road map. There was no getting out of the military. Didn't here's your step plans being successful on your own It was it was really hard. So i'm glad to be your health. Talk about that in the journey Will tell us about you and your journey. It was definitely a different Yeah absolutely so i was. How do i even begin this When i joined the military. I joined in forty days. Forty five days before nine. Eleven and I was an architecture student at the time. Indiana national guard kind of do a my weekend. Warriors thing and In after nine. Eleven i i just couldn't physically sit there and design buildings that we're gonna be used to blow people and caused devastation. I wanted to change that. And so i went active duty and went to school and in sadly my entire time in the military was was spent in school one school to the next and in one of those schools. I got banged up. Injured prior to going getting acceptance to west point from enlisted to the academy so i went to west point for two years while i was there. Got my injury that i sustained during active duty. The kid exacerbated to the point that i could no longer sir and unceremoniously. I went home with a ten percent disability. Seven seven hundred eighty bucks or something like that. Night came from west point to sit on my parents. Couch i legitimately want to move. I didn't even know your podcast existed until last week but eyesight. Now what what the heck am i gonna do the rest of my life. I had zero idea. I went from the premier leadership institute in the world to not knowing. I didn't know what the heck did so I decided that applied at schools Just just keep the ball moving and Quickly went to indiana university. Got into the business. School in really just fell in love with entrepreneurship and i let that passion takeover You know my healing process from you. Know both physical and emotional fiercely all of it. I needed to mend myself after coming out of the military. And it's a hell of a won't talk to make that work but Anyway yeah i mean. The transition was man. I don i even describe the transition with it was so unbelievably difficult. It shouldn't need to in needed to be a conversation with a counselor commonality military that said you know. What do you want. do the rest of your life. This is the direction you go and go. Do it can i. It was a lot of soul searching to find. It ought to be honest. But now i've been imagined doing anything else. Couldn't imagine sitting my day any other way when i do and holy shit i get paid for it. I mean oh my god. That's the best. The best thing in the world i completely agree with you will on on that. Come out and you're just in this hot this this song in this hayes in your you have so little direction and even if you had a career counselor to try to talk to you. I don't know if it's just you don't know what you're doing in life because you're so mean you don't stand different concepts yet but man you're just lost wandering out there in and Yeah i grabbed me by accident eck and smack me up a little bit. I do right by sagar i absolutely. I think if there's one thing that i absolutely did right was i I jumped head head on into school and education and building might tool set. Because i wasn't relying solely on the things that i learned in the military to to be jumping off point. I realized i had a heck of a lot of catching up to do. And and that's where the education started for me And obviously i didn't quit. And in fact i found a way to make sure that i didn't have to pay for which was really you know that was. The true transition story was okay. Hang on a second Your bettering yourself. And you're getting somebody else. Pay the bill. This this is something should write a book about Because a lot of that cedeno that hidden. I mean that was one of my biggest struggles was coming out and being twenty five seven a two year old and a five year old that i was literally racing by myself and i was taking eighteen credit hours Getting my degree in biochemistry with minor in english lit. And i you know eighteen credit hours trying to take care to five hundred worked at the same time you know you can get loans and all the rest of it but if you don't have a good nation in what's possible. I had no idea. I was eligible for vote. Rehab you know. When i went i had gi bill and believe it or not. The college never applied the gi bill. I paid for everything out of my own. And even though i was eligible for the gi. Bill is all the time it's really sad is what it comes down to that. We have the capability had had. I recognized what was was there army. And i recognize these benefits. Were there than i could have slowed down and cast in my kids. Now's a roof over their head and not had trying to kill myself to get through it in a short period of time And it would have changed the trajectory of my life. I you know. I watched medical school. Go out the door. Because i couldn't do an internship and be a single parent and i couldn't do medical school and be a single parent. Too young kids had. I had those benefits and recognized that they were available to me. I could have done more. I could've figure things out that's not bad. I mean i. I love where i'm at today but it could have been so much easier. Had i known about all the benefits that are out there. Not just disability. But is as you're talking about. Well the both rehab and the gi bill and things don't get taken advantage of profitable now. I was just gonna say we. We actually just talked about that. I think it was in the last episode about gi bill and how you can leverage it with the Volk rehab well. Vr program now but Leverage that you know those two you know really great benefits to you get further education. Everything i know when i got out You know. I'm sitting in the end of the transition not unit but are transitioning out processing briefings. Right and they're telling us about the va. I knew zero about the. Va except that veterans. Go to the. Va that's really all. I knew about it and they and they told us like. Hey go to the hospital like on post go hospital get your medical records and take him upstairs. Because i had a v. Va office fort hood. They had a. Va office up. Like start for a said okay. Cool and so. I took them and they said okay. Cool we got your medical records like okay to me. It was just another task. I had. I literally had no idea that i was submitting my va. Disability claim audios. Like somebody told me to give you these. I guess this is how i get officially into the va and become a veteran so to speak at someone like your most crucial claim and there you are getting pushed by the system through their said that you're not on purpose fan. That was done on purpose for years and years. And call me a conspiracy theorist or whatever but the truth of the matter is this is mon mon Insurance company pan out benefits and they've got an minimize this as much as far as sharing and you know the the the the hard part was to that by the time i did my first what do you call that first. Compensation exam with the with the doctor or the nurse practitioner. Whatever she was I'm still in tough guy mode. I'm still like yeah. Her s- i'm good. I can you know. I'm sure i can just suck it up for a little while. I didn't realize it's supposed to go there and just be blatantly. Honest like holy crap. This hurts this hurts. This hurts and i can't do this anymore. And i just went. I was like no. This is fine. Do you have anything no. i'm fine. no i'm good. I had no. I d like there was no. There's no plan there's no. There's no one at that point in the transition to to really tell me. Hey this is what you should be doing. This is the level of scrutiny. That they're going to look at your. Va claim with and this is the level of of intensity you need to put to it when you submit it so we can talk about that a little bit like what. What was your guys. Experience with The va disability claims program. I i know with mine drag. Mom i was cormon and i and i was I was one of the supervisors of the ambulance service in and they will. Hospital orlando in the training center training center there and when i sat down out processing with personnel. I still to this day. Remember sitting down at that gray metal desk. And here's somebody that's not much older than me on the other side of the desk in. They're typing out my dvd fourteen. And they're asking me different questions on a checklist and you know how many problems not have any problems you know. Got both of my legs. I got both my arms You know i can hear you talking fine which goes exactly to the point. You're making aaron. And i don't think it was bravado on my side is much as not understanding to transition process and the purpose of the questions being asked as they apply to me in my future not to mention. Let's let's young. Were coming from the military where it's shut the hell up in suck it up. Well it's not only that pervasiveness in the military will absolutely but there's a pervasiveness in the medical side on top of that of we don't go to call unless we are on death's doorstep i had owns and you know i'm i'm urinating blood. I went to the er. I was terrified. I didn't know anything about kidney. Stones about point. I tell you when you look down. Ten o'clock at night and the toilet bowl is you're ready to go to bed. You see bright red blood. You're going to the er right now when they didn't ask me about that as i al processed. I didn't recognize that. The jimmy stones that my kidneys continued to put out than started in the military. Were something that should have been taking care of for in evaluating before on the disability side. And so you know as as a cormon. My knees hurt my back. Hurt dr a are you know my gird. hey dot. Can you write me. Something for this. Ensures tagamet for this there was never any documentation. It was me and my buddy. The doctor who wrote something if i wanted it or b who went to the cabinet and opened up and took out the a hundred older motrin. It took it myself just like i told my fellow shipmates to do or the. You know the marine corps guys that i worked with to do so i mean there was a pervasiveness medicine on top of. What will we say about. The pervasiveness of we have a missions. Do the military. Our mission is to get the dadgum job done. Every single time is not to be standing in sakala. Whine about how this hurts. Don't it well. i'm sorry. I didn't mean now. You know. i think it's for me. I was you know i dealt with something that i deal with. Almost every with almost every veteran client that deal with. It's it's it's a pervasive problem. That every better needs to know you're going to be under compensated for some of your disabilities and you're gonna be overcompensated for some disabilities and when you're coming out of service and you get med boarded for something you know for me. I was hellbent on getting my chest fix chest and backs back rated properly in even though chefs in particular the maximum benefit. I could ever get no matter how hard i tried and no matter what i did was ten percent no matter what so yourself the net absolutely ruined my military career. That is only gonna ever pay me ten percent. I'm sitting. you're banging my head against the wall for at least five years fighting that fight when there was literally nothing i could do. I had to learn the system the right way you gotta do end arounds and connect everything possible to this in order to make sure that your stated appropriately for the actual shit that you're dealing against off that took years to figure out when you don't have somebody holding your hand through the through the that's really true. I mean in my case. I knew the was there that can provides healthcare benefits. But i had a job. I had healthcare benefits. I didn't mean to be a and i correctly and incorrectly depending on how you look at it. I wanted that benefit to be more available my fellow brethren who actually needed it and couldn't make it private healthcare good private healthcare because the. Va does a as much as they get. Beaten up in the news over. they do. Try very hard. You've healthcare Chewed the veterans other. They can't do better but it's not because they're trying to do that. And so i wanted that that benefit of healthcare to be availed more available. My brother and i never looked into. It wasn't until we want to buy a house and property. You're in texas the realtor said. So what's your your disability rating. And which i giggled including talking about and she goes well with your own. You won't have a fun in fee in taxes. You will either of your property taxes reduced or abated completely if you have disability and i said i don't have any disability. I have both my legs and lower. Did she said idiot. I've known you long time. And i know your kidney stone started in service. I know you're back. Problems started from when you were. Emc girl medic in the military in the military. How can you not have this ability rating. And i wasn't out looking for the money. I was making okay money so i never went searching for those benefits and you know that makes that much more difficult woken. Tell you when you're now twenty. Five years ho service. And the g jared processes are really starting to kick in that began in the military to then through this this connection. It would be much easier on him and i if we get the veteran. Who's diagnosed in service with my backers a bit. You know. I have a strain. I have whatever that turns into severe Disabling degenerative disk disease or herniation in those sorts of things. It'd be so much easier if those that are ins new on the way out. I need a copy of my medical records. I need diagnosis in the military. I need imaging. Studies are is cat. Scans whatever to show this. Something started in the military. Because we can tie that together much more easily absolutely and i think with the be. Dd program the benefits Direct delivery program that the provides This new system. I'm helping quite a bit of Servicemembers transition out of the military the contact meteorology and they want help going through their initial claim. You know it's something that You know you can't charge for it's a you know it's a. It's a pro bono thing but the end of the day were taken bets. Soldiers vets who are transitioning out on their first you know their initial claim walking out of the room with a ninety percent. Walk on service. Now we're sitting here fighting on. You know that most important ten percent on the backside to get you to the hundred percent but we're a heck of a lot closer than that thirty percent of the twenty percent that you're getting when you're walking out of there like a hero like you and i are all of us did back at our generation you know there's various services connection is an art. It is not a science. It is an art all day long you. There are ways to stack disabilities on top of each other to maximize your coins. And if you do not know what you are doing you are doing it wrong here. What it takes strength or something. We said to will as a process that that is like everything else that all veterans doing the military. There's a procedure. Here's your procedure. One five and the average veteran doesn't understand it is a legal process. There are statutes. The congress is there are regulations that implement those statues that the va is put out is a legal process and it involves medicine so it's a combination of the legal side in the medical side and the average joe out there doesn't understand the law at that level and doesn't understand medicine at that level to connect all of this stuff together both legally and medically right and so let's dive into the details a little bit of that initial. Va disparity claim you know. Will you talk about it. Being an art and greg you talked about it being a legal proceeding. Is there even a three step. Five step nine step seventeen step process. That veterans can look at and say. Okay here's what i need to do. And here's how. I need to submit that claim. I don't know if there's a five step process but there's definite general over overarching rules that you must consider and And i think most important if i could say This is your kids Number one takeaway take notes Holy shit do. Not shotgun approach your. Va clays do not claim. Every single fingernail do not claim every single to- fungus. It's not gonna get you paid number one and number two. It's going to paint you in a corner so bad no attorney can get you out of just because you have dirty your file. You're talking about non attorneys who are adjudicating legal cases. These people do not practice law. They are practicing what they feel in. Our job is to show what disability looks like as plainly as possible so that we can either capitalize on that person's Motive to assist the veteran or To somehow paint over bad in a file because you absolutely are are leaving a trail of tears when you are claiming a shotgun approach to your to your veterans claims Number step is only claimed things that you are legally entitled to claim so it's going to require a little bit of research on your part to know what you're entitled to but that's that's my claim to everybody number one only clean things that you're entitled Because once you start claiming things that you're not entitled to the most important thing that you can not lose that you just gave away is your a benefit of the doubt that fifty percent and when it's as least as likely as not it's you're full of shit and you're claiming everything under the sun You just lost your fifty percent when it comes to the thing that's going to get you hundred percent. Yeah i think all take off on that in a little bit of of education. The vast majority of raiders as will can tell you are veterans. They want to help their fellow veterans. That's why they get that job. However the vast majority are not attorneys and just like we were talking about procedures few minutes ago. That's what they do. They have a manual called the young twenty one one and it is a procedure manual. They claim they step through the procedures. Won- jews hyperlink year like there for five six hyperlink there is. I wish it was. It's not to say there isn't some feeling in it. I mean there there is they are the trier of fact they get to be the arbitrator in adjudicate the claim but they do get that interpretation on their side in trying to decide. What's right and what's wrong is disconnected is not but it is very procedural. It's they're not looking at line compeer in the law analyzing walleye analyzing the case law even the references to it. They're not opening. No they are now providing a claim. You know it's transitioning to the other point. He made a providing claims that are not shotgun that you're entitled to. What does that mean rethinks. You have a current diagnosis. You have continuity of your condition meaning you. didn't you know. Get a bruise in boot camp. In your thirty years later. Trying to to say i have a problem. You have to be able to document the progression so he is a little bit different than degenerative disk disease that you may have had back pain and service but it didn't really degenerate until a certain point but then it kept getting worse and worse document how it kept getting worse and worse documented in a law whether it's a blood pressure log a headache log of that in law document the continuity of that condition and the third component of that is the next service. How did that. How did service relate to your claim. It didn't have to 'cause it. You could had a car accident while you were stationed florida. That caused an injury service. Puts you in florida. Therefore that disability the you weren't combat got shot and you got that disability but it's still considered service connected because the military had you stationed there so it's not causation. Its relation to. But if you don't have continuity veterans lose every time is you know. Oh i had this. Bigger hangnail. And i had this. This shotgun approach. Yes but that's not a chronic condition. It's a one time edition. Thank you so much will and greg and has been so great heavy on the show.

This has been absolutely amazing. we will share some next steps with our audience in the show notes as we don't have time to cover today but this has been so so great guys. Bill Barnwell Breaks Down NFL Quarterback Moves

"So bill. We gave you do the math a whole month away from this podcast before our dependency bio chemically kicked back in so i just hope the last four weeks have been everything that you personally needed. Pablo got on many vacations. I turned around my life after six months of just staying watching football now. Bill barn wells weekly column on. Espn plus and he hosts the bill. Barnwell show podcast realistically. I have done something that few human beings have accomplished. I managed to get one pack of moments from nba. top shot. yeah. We share that same addiction. You are far deeper into the game than me. I realized over the weekend. I just want there to be an nfl top shot. Because i feel like that's going to happen right. It has to. i mean. Imagine the things you could do. You could send somebody that colts fake punt from years ago or or if you wanted to try some of your friends. Perhaps you could send the russell wilson interception from the nfl top shot to a certain person with the initials m used to host the show. Yeah just randomly picking in that example in those initials absolutely but bill. We dragged you back here. Speaking of a certain quarterback who threw a certain interception emotionally terrorized ours. Because this is an especially dramatic. Nfl offseason. they're all these big name. Quarterbacks who want out of these relationships that seemed from a distance at least pretty broken and russell wilson and the seahawks. I need to ask you about that. I because i know russ isn't feeling respected by head coach. Pete carroll reporting. I know that carol wants to revoke all of his cooking privileges. We've heard now. Russell wilson like storming out of meetings which is kind of funny to imagine like door very lightly slamming so this particular soap opera. What is all of it. Feel like to you much ado about nothing really. I mean i just i. Just don't buy russell wilson drama. I go back to his contract. Negotiations this is the same player in the same agent. Who wants imply that he would leave football in the middle of these negotiations entering the final year of his deal to try professional baseball. Where russell wilson once for the iraqis and the organization he hit to twenty eight in the low minors before returning to college football. It was not a realistic threat. But if that way does he want the seahawks to give him more helpful on the offensive line which has been sort of the crux of his public complaints. Yeah i do believe that. And i think that the seahawks could benefit from giving him more help. They relied on russell wilson to run his way out of sacks and free pressures from unblock players which has worked for that stretch buddies also taken a ton of hits cuss russell. Wilson plays the way he plays. He is going to take a ton of sacks regardless of how good his protection is the best way honestly pablo to get him. Hitless frequently would be to run the ball more. Which is the exact thing. Russell wilson was trying to get the seahawks do lasso last offseason. So there is something here but i very much doubt that leads to a trade. My favorite thing about this new cycle i think is that russell wilson has relayed via his wrapped. Adam schefter that he is not demanding a trade but if he were there are these four specific teams that he'd like to go to the bears. The cowboys the saints. The raiders does any of that make sense to you know not at all i mean the classic russell wilson tropez that ciara was going to pick teams him in new york in los angeles which this is the opposite that list even the teams he chose are so strange. Maybe you'd argue that. He chose teams with great offensive. Lions triumph of the seahawks. But the trade doesn't really add up the same. Stu have agreed offensive line. But they're like sixty five million dollars over the salary cap. The cowboys have a great line. Whenever everyone's healthy but they also have back prescott. that's not gonna work either the bears. I don't understand. They don't have a great line or any cap space. That one makes no sense to me on either. Level the raiders. Maybe are the most interesting and plausible candidate of the bunch with a great line and some cap space to work with. But when i think about jon. Gruden as raiders coach. He wants quarterbacks to do exactly what jon gruden wants on every single play. I don't think any if it really adds up to meaningful trae dialogue. I don't think there's going to be a conversation between the seahawks and another team about trying to make a trade for russell wilson work but this is twenty twenty one anything is possible

I got new kid on the way that. Say the same thing i'm like. Hey i adopted a puppy and a kitten this year. We're doing great so all about perspective. Exactly they're all making me jealous. I need at least two more puppies to make this year balance out so many to be adopted crystal do it. Well laura always handles intros. 'cause i'm a little bit nervous about getting right into it but has it affect awesome. Well should grady's child come. Well we're on this podcast. My payback will be. I will do the altro and i will make it really fun and exciting or grady as well as for everyone. I'm going back. ok. Grady make sure your wife is holding that kid in just a little longer. I will awesome. Well really excited. But i wanted to start off by asking or having you because lauren. I know your stuff all the time. I'll tell us a little bit more about what you as the trainer. Yeah you bet so. One of the initiatives that we've got going on right now is trying to scale our on boarding process trying to scale our customer education process and so i- host to open our series for the company the first one is called new customer webinars and it's designed for customers in their first thirty days. Tell them to get acclimated. Software learn how it works. Learn some use cases and then the second series. I host automation hours and in the automation hours. What we do is we help. Customers have been with us for plus modestly around that area and we on one of our amazing partners. Join us and talk about some more advanced topics really revolving around. Yeah that we've got to automate yet. The most success out of our software not about baseball. I know automation hours. Have come in really handy especially during covid trying to work on their make. Sure that it's functioning need it. Would that be honor now. Is i think when you're working in your business. That's when you're like you're not putting out fires and you're just like everything's just going in years. I'm just following along your day as managing you working on your businesses that outside in approach What's working what's not. How can it be more intentional. I think there's a lot to do right now. Is is pivot is the word. I love the geller. Mantra they saw. Hey i can't do business the way that i was before i've got a pivot somehow and that's really how the automation hours reborn like. We were going to have these going for two weeks as we find the curve and it was going to be done jokes on us. It's still going and so we have to go. And it's been a really really wealth of just good information and actionable content or just people over and over. And we've actually raiders to come and join us for every single session with great And so it's just great those customers out there that know that one of the best can do for your business get educated. Be able to know. Hey there's probably things out there that i don't know it's that vulnerability i talked about the such a failed entrepreneur like we have to be vulnerable in order for us to get better. You go to the doctor and you've got some sort of chest pain in the ass. You how you're doing. You're saying. Ben tastic dot can ever better like you're going to have a hard time. I've actually gone to the doctor with my mom or and they asked that question and she's listed like twenty things wrong with their before we get there and she's like oh he's been really good and i'm looking at her like no. We're getting into this today. So i'm like what about all these things doc looking at her like how could you say you're good with all these example. I know and that's really cool that it that it just took off like that you know you were only planning on having it a couple of weeks and here we are. That's amazing now. Do you see that these new customers have some common issues that that you also have. When you're starting your business i mean. I know we haven't gotten to that yet. So i know i'm jumping ahead. But the reason why people jump into these webinars to fill any kind of needs that they have. I think for me. The the common thread that i've seen is in. It's kind of but the idea of follow up. that's the global. There's different ways that we follow up that we follow up but follow up his always the common theme. It's an idea of something has occurred. And now i need to react to it and i don't do and so helping customers realized that one is that. Hey there's stimuli out there that usually react to and helping you understand how you can react and what tools you have at your disposal calva. Sylvia that reaction

"It's a review journal. Sports columnist team. Here ed greenie the raiders writer and nfl writer. And i'm heidi saying handling all the visuals today. And i got some great shots. I'm very excited about the photographs. That i got today. Yeah after jeff. Heat second interception on the day. Big day for the raiders. Defense total of five turnovers in this thirty seven to twelve. When where do we start. I mean there's so many good things that you just said. The raiders at five turnover turnaround. Let's get it get into those turnovers first of all jeff heat than his huge day. A main two picks on the day in the first half of the game. How huge was it for this defense to step up and create those turnovers against the denver. Broncos adam bassett and and you you look at where they happen to. I mean we see the final scores thirty seven twelve and it seems like a blowout really wasn't the case for most of the game and this tornado blow out in the fourth quarter and really the second half in general but you know jeff heath could say big interception the first half the first one was the third fourteen play probably not going away you point anyway but he does turn it into pretty good field position even other. The raiders capitalize on it But then the big one at the end of the half and let's not overlook the fact that the play before that drew lock had a walk in touchdown on a read option Jeff heath joy holding penalty and then there was called back. Move back ten yards. And the broncos still trying to punch it in and a ten six game where you score a touchdown right there. You have the lead going into halftime. You feel really good about yourself even kick a field goal. You're only down one there instead with no points. And it's so deflating. And jon gruden talked about that What they talk about often is you know end of the half beginning of the half and trying to get that. Double up there in the raiders. Really didn't get that necessarily but they got a stop and then a field goal coming out of halftime. And that's that's really what you're looking at. Start the half and half well They're able to do that there and That really to me was the point game or denver had a chance to stay in it. And to put some pressure on the raiders. And they weren't able to do so. And that jeff. He's interception at the end of the first half was maybe the biggest play the game. And you've done a lot of the season grades and the defense was part of that like focus for you as far as what needed improvement. You gave him to helmets. That wasn't a good score on the scale of one to five or five. It's not a good score to get so my old math scores based off of what you saw today. How many helmets. Which man today. It's a five helmet day in a review journal democracy in a by the name of defense for report card. Yeah look coming in. They had had. They had forced five turnovers. Today they forced five turnovers so in eight games. Five in one game five. So it's a great game by the defense Nevin lawson the strip That was turned into One later touchdown We've talked about the interceptions. What they did today was. And i wrote this. Report card is They supported the theory. Is you don't lose to a bad quarterback drew lock a really bad quarterback. In my opinion. I think olive our opinions than they did not allow him to come in here and win a game. We really shouldn't given the discrepancy of towel between the two teams so they were favored. They covered easily They're the better team now. They have to clean up bond stuff up. We'll get to some of it. I'm sure to. Kansas city comes in next on sunday night. Football a week from tonight but to be six and three two games out with kansas city. Coming in now you've created you've created distance between yourselves and the broncos chargers your solidly and second place all lean. What would be a wildcard spot right now. I don't think they could ask for much more at this point adam so you had the two sacks from those two players Max crosby nicholas monroe. Would you make of the pressure that they've been able to create up online or is it just may be playing the best quarterbacks like we said or is it. The defense is finally clicking a little bit of everything well first of all denver sticks. I mean that's that's a big takeaway especially drew lock. Drew lock which is awful today You know we talked earlier on the pre show about how inconsistent and how inaccurate you lock has been. That certainly showed up today And didn't really have much help upfront. Either you saw the raiders just creating a lot of chaos on the on the line of scrimmage and that's how you create turnovers you get pressure you get that in the office head but the pressure is what is what greece turnovers both the interceptions and obviously we saw the fumble. That's when a team is feeling all that pressure and they start doing things like fumbling the ball. So i could have a lot of guys afraid you mentioned the sacks but it's more than the saxby max crosby had the one play where he made a big tackle in the backfield. I think he got to just got lost and looked up. And there's a guide for him so he tackle them but either way it's a big play and then arden key was disruptive on the line is i'm getting very into it very excited David irving had some really really nice work. Guy hasn't played in a couple of years. The only put two games in two thousand and eighteen hasn't played it all since then and I know when they didn't really know what they were going to get out of him Look today it wasn't you know it's not like he showed up big on the statute anything like that. But he was in there and i think you know a very Very prominent role that he played really for them. You know doing some damage. At the line of scrimmage. So i think it's all the guys it's rotating in and out at staying fresh and keeping pressure on that broncos off of line which really wilted under that pressure certainly dead but one offensive line. That stood tall was the raiders and helped to get josh jacobs and devante booker to four touchdowns in all and over. Gosh almost two hundred yards Total between the two of them. So ed how he has been that. This offense has repeatedly. I believe it's the last. Three games has been able to go for about one. Hundred and fifty yards rushing here Back to back at least in these two games. Yes it's been huge So they wanna. Cleveland went for a little over two last week against the charges about one one sixty and this week over two. that is huge For the raiders. In a look at the way. Jon gruden wants to coach. I know people don't like to hear that they wanna be me more of an open up style. They want him to be more or less conservative. But it's working for him right now. They won three straight to in. The division are undefeated in their division. I an amazingly. They're doing this behind this offensive line. Which again today miss. Three starters incognito colt miller and trent brown yet again and yet they were still able to run for over two hundred yards against the broncos Yeah they're they're winning the way john wants. We'll that sustain itself. I'm not so sure about that. Because as adams said the broncos aren't very good at all we know. The chargers are disaster. Right now But they're getting done and it was used for those guys user josh jacobs to regain that rookie form Alec gold Played snaps today with two broken ribs. As i write in the column he did that. I burned my mouth on some chicken pot pie. I was almost out for a week but he played with two fractured ribs. Were as tough vs as as the other guy But yeah they're playing the way jon gruden wants to play if he has his perfect world. This is how jon gruden would wanna win games if like. There's always a catastrophe with you in food wherever wherever that's interesting. Popeye was not almost said to carry me out of the press. Box a disaster so out of as we look into this offense here. Henry ruggs probably not doing what they wanted to. But he got a few more catches in there today than just playing off a reverse as we've seen in the last game. And you know. Kind of being a decoy of swords and other games so henry ruggs. Does he finally getting to the point where you think that. He's one hundred percent healthy and he'll be getting involved.

"One can longer say that he can't be distinct. Well, it certainly is nice to speak with you two gentlemen here on a night when the raiders have had a win because we've been doing these podcasts and back to back episodes, we've had to talk about the losses what went wrong atom when you look over what went right? How big of a part of the defense play in helping get this win for this team? Well, second half I mean I think the defense probably will want to raise a lot of what happened in the first half. They really want to watch that tape maybe scrap that one but the second half. They really clean things up in. Listen a lot of it was just not being on the field much. The offense controlled the ball for twenty five minutes of the second-half, which is unbelievable and that's how you beat the chiefs. You don't let their offense on the field. and. You take advantage their defense in the chiefs have been really really good against the past but the raiders exposed that a little bit they've been not so against the run and the raiders did put up huge numbers but they were effective in the run game. So the offense is what helped the defense to me, but you still have to you know make plays. You're still going to be out there some you have to get off the field on third downs and they were able to do that. I think that was a big thing in this in the second. Half they also forced Kansas City whether they forced them or are they just did it Kansas? City committed some penalty so that helped a little bit but I think it was the offense really helping the defense out of keeping them out there and Max crosby talked about that. He said listen the events when when they're playing that way, it works together with us. It's it. You know we complement each other and they keep us off the field were fraction. We go out there and the beef needed to be fresh. They're short handed. Of course, they go in without me Collins they. Go in without Maurice Hers, Unbelievable Series on the covy list then they lose car massive early in the game. So they they needed some some breeders I think the defense needed to be off the field not just Kansas City's offense would have opportunities, but also, so they can rest up but they didn't have to be out there much. They could kind of just pin their back and go and didn't have to worry about getting tired that was factor in helping the defense as well But there's a lot of things that work there and sometimes get a little fortunate as. Well, PAT MOJO's made a couple of throws. You don't really see him make very often, and then at the end of the game when they really you know the chiefs have some momentum back down eight, it's a one score game. The raiders find a way to run off the final four minutes off the clock and the offense once again helps out the defense..

"Crucial points, Layton Games, right? No question about it I thought. Mono Mono I thought the raiders. Were right there with the bills, they can move the ball. They weren't overmatched they weren't dominated it wasn't it get blown off the field they had their chances they had their chances to score. They had the chance to put together drives and they like you said, could not get out of their own ways to crucial fumbles, undo them in the second half and Buffalo didn't make those mistakes. They just didn't and I'm with you. Yes you can't.

"Littleton is really proficient in that area. As a three down linebacker able to provide pass coverage rush the passer to stop the run so I would think that they were going to make a move in that direction. Somehow some way in free agency as well so for me you gotta look at wide receiver and and and a Making linebacker at twelve nineteen. If they're not looking to make a change at quarterback so from this game just just this game. 'cause I know there's a ton of guys like you said at wide receiver debt Do you think that any of the wide receivers might interest them. Maybe somebody like March Chase. You know he had a good game team in the championship. Game from L. Issues. So I was just wondering your thoughts on this game. If Mike Mayock is putting on the same hat he did last ear and getting Cleveland Farrell and getting a Trayvon Molin. Is this something that he does again. This year in looking at the death of these two teams miles. I think there's a lot that you can look at with. The Way Clinton competed with the way that LSU competed. I think a lot of people talking about the weapons that Joe Borough had and I think it's interesting because I know that the guy sitting to my right things that Joe Borough is going to be a bust when when he makes it to the NFL based on the phone playing in such a great offense boy. I know I don't I don't get it but to be clear I'm talking about Adam Hill Sir but I think when you look at just the way that things went in that game. I mean a Jess Joe. Borough has a lot of good weapons ends in yes. He's playing a good offense of system. But I also think that you know if I think if you're most teams and if you were the raiders. The raiders are not really going to have this chance because I don't don't think there's any chance. Cincinnati doesn't draft. Joe Borough but if you I think have you watched the totality of the season and understand that Joe borough played in a really solid offense and then had had to do a lot of things in terms of ball placement and making sure that he had a good pocket presence. I I think he would be still the number one targeted guy off of a lot of guys draft boards. But you know like I said he has really good weapons. So if you're talking about why receives yeah you can look at both sides and say man. There are a lot of good wide receivers that one could pick and then improved their team. LSU has always had great weapons Yup just look at all the Lsu wide receivers and play in the NFL. Provide Joe Borrow was was able to elevate even those type of players And that's why they won the national championship and arguably arguably the Best College football season of all time. The quarterback is pretty good over there. And he's going to be the number one second yeah. I don't suspect that he's going to be a anybody's best raiders at least have a one little piece of that. LSU powerhouse. That's foster moreau so tight end but I'm sure they're looking forward to his growth as raider in the coming years but that is all the time we have here today on the Vegas Nation podcast..

"Where is on the line and right now we have an update for you from Rick Vlada who spoke with us a little bit earlier about the current status of the stadium? And will it be done on on time. I know that's a big burning question. So let's go ahead and get the update from rank as promised joining us now on the Vegas Nation. podcast we have Rick Vlada in-studio in studio and he is going to bring you up to date on everything that's happening with the stadium because I'm seeing on social media right now that a lot of people are concerned particularly about the roof. And I'll tell you. Rick is our assistant business editor here at the paper and he is on top of all of this. He is in the know with the stadium. He knows every detail every rivet of this place so tell me right now. How concerned Raider Fan should be about the stadium roof and any delays that? It may cause for the opening of the Stadium Stadium. Well I I think that That there is a certain level of concern because this was a project that they had said they were going to deliver. Last August he got pushed back back to September and then it got pushed back to November then it got pushed back to December. And now we're hearing that it's going to be pushed back to mid may well if the stadium is going to open July alight thirty I is. Everybody says it's going to to open. Then that's cutting it pretty close in terms of getting this accomplished in time so you know that's that's one concern. The other concern is that It's it's it's a lot of different projects that are going on at the same. Mm Time if the roof is not enclosed and it rains it could damage a lot of the things that have already been done. which that's that's another big worry? Okay so those are the things that they're going to be watching an kind of concerned about in the months ahead and when we talk about this stadium and you bring up in a lot of people. I think don't really understand that Las Vegas has a monsoon season at the end and football season. The start of it and you're looking at the preseason. That's Kinda prime monsoon soon season so I can understand the concern there. A lot of other people talk about the parking situation We haven't really updated anything here on this podcast. Essence you were last on about the parking situation so I believe I have heard that some areas getting bought up in that there are going to be spots around there. What can you tell us about the parking as fans start to make their plans to come to games here in Vegas? What will the the the raiders have expanded the number of lots that they have acquired? I think they're now up to six or seven different different places. Where you can park and then get shuttled into into the Games? So it's now a matter matter of working out those details like which. which lot should I park in? If I'm going to be seated in this particular area. What areas are going to be most conducive induces to tailgating I it's those types of details that I think that People are looking for answers on because the capacity is not not a problem anymore. In light of the fact that they've got all these different Lots that had been purchased. In addition the raiders are kind of expecting that most of the people who will be attending these football games will either be staying at resorts on the Strip and can walk or they can take mass transit to to to the to the site and then of course there's always the the uber lift Option as well so as far as finding a place to park. I don't think that's going to be a concern It's just a different way of going to the stadium. I know that you have been to the stadium in Minneapolis. They don't have any parking the on site and it seems to work out okay with them and they haven had a super bowl there. So it's not like this is a The first time this has ever happened and the the raiders are looking in terms of this being a different experienced getting there and he wants to be a good experience helpfully. They'll find someplace to tailgate aside from. I'm in the hotels because his hotel isn't gonNA offer too much space for them to do that. But it's part of the whole experience I had heard that there was some promenade. That my turn up around the stadium that may be developed. But what do you know about who were there. There are a lot of different proposals and ideas. That are out there. And they haven't really been fully explained to to what's going on. I have heard that the raiders are of very conscious of the fact that they want to have a very good tailgate gate experience and thus they've got some plans in the works that they have not unveiled yet. They've talked a little bit To to some people who have been covering that off the record in in terms of what they want to talk about so I feel I feel like I can't really disclose what some of those conversations are but at the same time They're very very conscious of the fact that they want it to be a good tailgate experience and it sounds like what they've got planned is going to be something that the fans are GonNa look forward to okay so on Thursday which his today actually as podcast is being recorded We will have a huge meeting. Where the Raiders Stadium Authority will meet and again Kinda track all the different tasks that have to be done now as I read in your article there are forty forty one thousand only forty one thousand individual task right right now Someone schedule some behind. What can you think of Aside from the roof right now they may be kind of key things that really need to be attract on time that are on this. I know it's forty one thousand things but what key things can you think of that. They may be discussing in in a lot of respects. What they don't need to get done is maybe more important list and among those things that they're going to do is back in the house stuff so things that the fans don't even see see and they don't even really care about those are going to be wait they're gonNA wait on those? Incidentally even though they get a temporary occupancy permit to move in on July thirty first I. They're really not going to be done with the stadium until October. That's something that they've set for all in all along. That's part of their plan Among among some of the other things that are not going to be done this stadium's GonNa have four Locker rooms they're only going to really need two of them Immediately for the the raiders and for the visiting team so those other two locker rooms are probably not going to be finished right away Those are in place for for other teams had come in for for example. If you have a final four you're gonNA need four locker rooms so it's not really essential that they get get those done right away. They're certainly going to have everything that's in a public setting a completed they're gonNA have all the concession stands done. All the seats installed called They want to have all the mechanical stuff that will that will be in good working order. So those are the things that are going to be most important for them to get done And some of these other things that can wait they will wait. They just won't finish them right away. Okay as we wrap things up here give me the level of completion that you expect. This has to be at Probably let's say by July which is when they're supposed to have an opening July thirty first so if you have detractors attracted to the first of July how much percentage of the stadium will actually be done. Do you think by what you've heard I would just guess ninety ninety five percent completed And again those those Those last few items. That don't have to be done won't be done And all the public areas will. It'll be I think that the most important thing is to To to keep it safe make sure that field is in place Obviously that's a big component of the of the stadium. The the the field trae that moves in and out there already underway on that there were got the high doors pretty much done so so a lot of that is A lot of the really important things are are complete is just had roof that makes people worried because that is the key and and and there's a lot of important physics that go into how you put that roof in place People that are smarter than me can probably explain it better than I can but at the same time the fact is is that they have five engineering companies. That have come in and have reviewed how to do this and and it sounds like they've got a pretty good idea on how they're going to put in place and it's going to take some time to do it and again it's just the cable net system system that supports the translucent roof. That is kind of the concern right now whether or not it's going to be able to support the actual right. Wow all right so we will bring you in much more rick as I think we lead up to July. Maybe we'll get a monthly update going for the fans here That way we can keep them up to date on all all things happening with the stadium as well we. We certainly appreciate your time today. And can you let everybody know here where to find you on twitter. Sure I am at at Rick Vlada. RIC KVIL VIDEO OT TA and he will always be out there tweeting. He's a madman. If you follow him. He's got all these meetings. He's always up to date. He's giving you the play by. I play for everything happening with the stadium. Here allegiance stadium. Las Vegas expecting at all to be done by the time the season starts and preseason season obviously in August. So we'll keep it. Keep it tuned right here. Everybody and we'll be back with more here on Vegas nation again. That was Rick Vlada. You can can find all his stuff here on review journal Dot Com and give him a follow as well on twitter to keep up to date with everything happening on the stadium as we mentioned in that interview There is a big issue right now as to whether or not that roof will get up on time. Will it. Cause any damage to anything in there and also how. Much percentage scented of the stadium. We expect to be done. There is a meeting happening very shortly here. On a Thursday that will bring some more information to light. We hope Vinnie. I believe you have some information on that as well. What can you tell us about your knowledge of the stadium? Update US there. Yeah and you know not a construction worker So well I don't have all the technical aspects too but what I can say is that I have been assured the highest levels of the raiders. That everything's GonNa be fine. It's going to be Completed in time to host the to play out the playoff games. The two preseason games who knows off off the bus before the playoffs they gotta host a preseason game in October is usually when they when those games get played they may have. I have to start on the road for a couple of weeks in preseason Not all that unusual. But but I haven't told that everything is fine It'll all be explained nine. I think this is a lot of construction type talk. That construction people are very.

"This episode is also presented to you by Untuckit so guys the raiders saw a three game win streak snapped by the jets. Now they had interface a divisional rival. AFC West opponent the Kansas City chiefs and a very very very key game right now the chiefs on top of the AFC. West and the raiders. Right under them at six and five so we talked a little bit on Sunday on the podcast about the raiders. Having been humbled by the jets and really trying to realize that they have a lot of things that they need to get clicking on all cylinders. especially if you're going to beat somebody as high octane as these Kansas City chiefs so I'm sure that the mood and sense of urgency. Is there as the team is in Oakland and Alameda preparing being for this game. All right miles you're out in. La Today had a little bit of a drive. But you know when you look at what happened. Here with the raiders and and the kind of became a one dimensional team against the jets. The jets took away the run. Have the raiders been exposed in the sense of. If you take away the run game from them they're gonNA have a struggle. Yeah I think that's kind of the Mo of the team though for the entire season. And I think the if you take away their ranking with Josh Jacobs uh-huh which candy so you have a team with a that is really predicated on the run game and I think a lot of offense is our but this one. I really feel like like more than most is if Josh Jacobs is not rolling then you really gotTa have problems. And so I think the chiefs know that but I think that she's also also know that their run defense has not been very good and you know a few weeks ago when the chiefs played the titans you could see that there are really some ways that this is run defense can be exposed. It's really why the titans were able to win that game that in the fact that they had a can't see that special teams miscues views. But when you're able to see Derrick Henry just get wallowing. If Josh Jacobs can do that then there is a chance that the raiders can go in Kansas City. A place where they have struggled over the last few years not one there since twenty twelve but they can go in there and win the can get Josh Jacobs role. Okay an atom. You're out in Oakland so I mean when we saw this game also another thing that happened was there was a case of the drop sees with the wide receivers What what are we chalk? This up to was it. A chemistry issue was at some just inexperience was at the state of the game. That things just weren't clicking at all for this team or is it something more more than that but I thought it was. I thought it was a game. Where the the raiders You know a couple of weeks All those people that by the way were hitting us it's up in a guaranteed a jets win three different times. You're on this podcast. Going cross country to play the jets and questionable weather. All those things are working against them. But if you're a good team you we'll have to figure those things out you have to go in and it's nude out those kind of adverse conditions. And they just weren't able to do that. This is not like we were kind of old and you know I say we think the general.

"We talked about it after tidy They were three point favorites. But I don't think anyone surprised if the jets would win today. The raiders traveling. I'm from the West. It's attending embodied guy. You know what I mean. The raiders have a lot of flaws at the end of the day. I don't think anyone Vinnie sits there and says oh man. I'm I'm really shot. The raiders lost. I think many nine the Illegi. Heidi we were shot. How they looked like it was really lakes startling? They just were so inept. Dropping passes missing assignments committing penalties missing villa. If you come in here and you lose like we said like he did to the Texans or games like that where you're competitive guy. They lost the game. It kind of hurts their playoff chances. But they're still they're still capable. Man Vinnie the way they lost was just like you walk out of your home will last for themselves after the drop trump dropped passes like you said the missed field goal. And then what I don't think was a roughing the passer that was attack attack right unhappy so the little things like that started to happen. And then it's how you react to what's going on and they didn't react well at all and I think Jon Gruden talked about that about the learning your experience of. Hey it's at Bercy you have to fight through it. They didn't fight through it. And that's the most disturbing thing to me but it's also unfortunately a trait of a young team. That just happens sometimes and maybe this is the wakeup call obey needed. I kind of wrote about that like you know. Probably buying into the hype a little too much with a three game winning streak They probably aren't as good as we assume that they were off about three game winning streak that got proven today and maybe it's a wake up call to just come. I'm correct at least at the very least whether they lose in Kansas City or not. They've also chances are they will dry But you don't WanNa go down you know. Would somebody dropping at fifty hammer on you. Like Dirk are alluded to if they don't correct well they don't and I know you guys will both be there. The forecast right now for next Sunday for the chiefs game five thirty four and snow so they struggled a little here in the little wet year. They they gotta turn that around around and What was the number of Dirk as he is now? Two and nine in it's fifty degrees or below with a quarterback rating of sixty seven. And another number you WANNA consider. Chiefs are coming off a bye. Andy Reid. is the chiefs coaches seventeen in three of a by eight and a half points. It's opened as I think that will probably go up tick right away after. What the raiders? With light today day at a price settled somewhere around nine but They're they're in for challenge. I mean there's no question about that. It's definitely struggled when it comes down to inclement weather and producing using well in it and this is a key game and we were talking to people in the locker room about Kansas City You had spoke with tyrone Williams about it and he said there's no doubt these guys bounceback spat. Max crosby. Same thing is exceeding slow for sleds. What they're gonNA SAY WE'RE GONNA bounce back from when you look at Kansas City and playing hang up in arrowhead and the crowd noise that comes along with bat and just knowing that it's going to be under fifty cardizem do well? You know what I mean gene. How do the raiders go back to the drawing board to prepare for this game will? I'll tell you what you and I were at the urine. I remember the first game this year. Second Week of the season Tyreek Rickie was not with the chiefs that at that point. He was hurt so that that helped the raiders for preparation. That he's able to Hammy in the last game of. They said he could have possibly ladies laugh. Amy's at a week to prepare we. I didn't Tyreek Hill play but if you take away and it's kind of silly even saying this Vinnie. If you take away the nine minute stretch where Mahomes at three touchdown pass linked the raiders. Played them even. She saw the end of the game. He scored while another blow as well. And you can't take the nine minutes way because that's relitigate but for the majority that game like you're the eye test was like they're not that they're not getting dominated night he he was just mahomes for nine minutes. He was magic and they went so if they can somehow look at that film and figure out how they played with them for so long and you know obviously you can't have nine minutes like that. They might be in it again. You know I I wrote about it in the column for tomorrow. There's so many unexplainable cleanable things this. This lost me was really one of those things in sports. You can't explain. We'll explain why they played this way. And you know again not an excuse But there is something to be said about playing teams that you have no real idea about especially with young quarterback that you never played before So who I'm not saying. It's easier to play the chiefs but there are no known better. Yeah yeah they're going to know them better there. Were things that the jets were doing today that you can tell whether it was. We talked about this communication on the back end. And that's lacking right now without lamarcus out there in the quarterback of the whole thing and other youngsters back their injuries and trains that they've had so it's like a rebuilt yep secondary which they expunge exploited that already so many creative things they did that. Maybe they'd saw it on film. Maybe they didn't see it on film if they didn't see it on film distorted a bad job of reacting to it and covering it but that speaks sometimes too inexperienced lack chemistry You know who's WHO's quarterbacking it back there So getting marketing will help a lot of familiarity. I think and there's GonNa be a sense of urgency. It's there's They have their attention on like the jets who were serving unknown. And maybe just stop on the way to some bigger goals. Obviously Chapin fell run on their face. on that yet set. But so I you know I always fight. I WANNA see urgency. I WANNA see fight competitiveness. Not Hanging their heads. When bad things happen I'm At the very least I'm not into moral victories or anything like that but a better showing yes and just kind of show that they're still on the right. Okay so we head into Arrowhead next week for the second of this two game. Road trip raiders. Right now three game winning streak snapped by this lots of the jets again. A final score thirty Ford three can catch everything with greeny and venables annuity on twitter correctly. You Save you save the Yod you say honey. On any other way I lived here in New York for quite a while in had a lot of friends with names that have a bad opera and Theatrical Warner game on the field after zero eight kids Benny on my linebackers take cover to cover three as a young man right spot. This is a forty three out of three hundred under these guys on twitter added Greeny and Vinnie. Bunsen Yoda for all of their work. In keeping.

"This episode is also By untuckit this right now is start at the beginning or a two-game road trip. You for the raiders. The raiders headed into New York. Face adjusts who as we keep saying are not to look past. The raiders are Three Game Win Streak Right now through picking up their third win at home bagels last week before we get into everything here mice atr. Are you doing miles us. I'm Great Heidi. This is fun that we are in three different places right now. You being New York. I'm in Oakland. And Adam is in Las Las Vegas and yet through the magic of the Internet in editing. We are all together as one duty answer out. How are hey? I'm not even GonNa try the as always But now I'm actually at T.. Mobile arena right now getting already four Golden Knights and the sharks. So it'd be. It's a very busy sports weekend here in this first week here in Las Vegas in Oakland in the morning the day right. That was just like a day ago yes the day and would have seen more of the. UNLV game had there up in a travel. Woes of the awful weather here in Las Vegas. So if you guys are around the country listening Dory Vegas is not always perfect. It was a terrible day yesterday. I'm glad you are in good spirits today as we can tell and into the game breakdown. Further bands talk about with the raiders. Did last week against against the bengals. Were a team that I think we. All the raiders will blow cast a seventeen ten win still win in the books but we were talking about the things that the raiders can improve upon what they could have better in that game miles. You've looked at them practice every day this week. Workers you gather from their game planning At what direction are they heading like mentally as his team is preparing for the jets. So I think it's interesting first of all the fact that they did not perform. I think to to their standard against the Cincinnati bengals. It's not like I've seen you guys make a lot of excuses for that. I'm with these. The bengals were tough team. I think the bengals did some things things that were different. Based on the fact that they're playing You know guy like Derek Carr who's more of a stationary quarterback. Then you would have seen them playing somebody like Kylo Murray. Who is a mobile quarterback? Lamar Jackson is another guy. Who is a totally mobile quarterback? So you have to face Derek. Karna different way than you would face those guys so in now we gather Cincinnati. Bengals did some things differently they were able to get after Derek Carr. I thought pretty effectively the pocket and then you saw the raiders. Turn the ball over a couple of times then. I think we said it last week on this podcast. The wave that Cincinnati could have a chance to beat the raiders. would be if the raiders beat themselves if they turn turn the ball over and they did it twice in Cincinnati was able to take advantage of it now at the end of the game. Cincinnati couldn't really do anything. I mean you know it was one of the one of those late game situations nations. The past Bush was effective. They're able to get into the backfield and get to Ryan Finley whose name almost just escaped me there because really. He's as an anonymous quarterback. He's kind of that but I anyway. I think that the raiders now no like okay. They have to have their fundamental short up because they're going against the jets team. That is good forcing turnovers. They've still got one of the better running backs in the league and Levian Bell and they've taken it to some Opponents it's in the last couple of weeks where you could say that they're get right games right. I think from doing against dolphins in in doing the giants and beating the giants and then going against the Washington football team there and eating them as well. You can tell that the jets are on the right path in terms of getting things done now. They haven't been playing that great competition. But the raiders have to still take them seriously for this game so Adam we look at the jets defense miles. There are doing things against the round. They're greedy decent greedy staunch against holding losing closing running backs. Two hundred yards per game. So what do you mean about the jets grants as you look at Ben Against the raiders. The first thing you look at the jets I and I think the fact that they're they're a talented teams if they haven't showed it and the results are younger team That's still trying to improve and get better and certainly. They had a huge setback earlier in the season with saying you know Donald Coming Down with mono somehow as if he was some high school kid which was a weird situation in but he seems to be getting his strength back. I think it was part of when he came back. You're like wow you know. He's not playing well. I think a lot of that. You know illness supposedly Zaps you of your strength and you know it takes a while to get back into it. Feels like he's getting back there but You know defense as we mentioned is really where They succeed and you know I think lately lately it's been even better and Jamal does a big piece of that I think. The Raiders Game Plan based on talking to the guys. And you know kind of hearing them speak this week. the raiders scouting report for the jets. Defense has basically. They've got Jamal Adams and and I think he's gotTa circled and capital letters and everything else out there because of everything that he can do the namic of a playmaker he is how he can attack from so many different levels of the defense There's just so it's so difficult to prepare for guy that does so many things not only in the defensive backfield but also gets after the quarterback and Impacts plays in the running game and everything else that he does. He's a very tough to prepare for and That's GonNa be a huge focus uh-huh rigorous. Let's Talk Raiders Defense. Because this week backs crosby was named the defensive player of the reads where season big spark for this defense. As many of the rookies right now they did. Add a line back here as well Preston Brown of the bengals no less so miles. Miles what do you make of him was might read it achievable is he. Somebody that the raiders have to start right away now. I don't know that he'll start right away but I think the even the most interesting interesting thing that we've gotten out of Preston Brown is the nickname that he jones had together. Yes Adam knows where. I'm going with this so adamant talking to Jones on Wednesday afternoon after practice and so he said that actually in Buffalo. His locker used to be next to Preston Brown's locker and so they had this nickname he ends Zeh. And I believe you can understand. Were that is going right. Yes so I I asked Preston brought about this after Thursday's practice. And he said Yeah. You Know Zeta Jones's Mike Guy. We used to do all kinds of bunny stuff together like like pay pranks or whatever and he said that they did some videos with the for the bills website under the moniker. PB Zeh and I have not as of this recording had a chance wants to go google them myself and look what these videos were but yeah I would expect. It's interesting you know when John Broun was talking about merits of signing signing a guy like Preston Brown in the middle of the season one of the things he talked about was he's one of the he's got these characteristics that you like in the middle linebacker because he's charismatic. You can tell he loves football and he has the kind of ability where you believe he can call signals is basically what I was thinking that Jon Gruden met because he can get after things and you understand where his his charisma pumps from people are going to listen to him and just talking to him in the locker room. I feel that a little bit because he is that kind of guy where you know you come up to him because we're doing our first sort of media scrum with them shakes your hand. You make sure he introduces himself to you as you introduce yourself to him him and he's really willing to talk about things and and you know. I think that he could be a really good piece. For this raiders. Defense moving forward now how much that's going to be for this week against the jets. I'm not sure. He said that he's willing to play special teams to play whatever he has to in order to help the team win. But I think when you're a guy like Preston Brown you've just gotten there. It might take a week or two in order to really get comfortable enough to be on the field as a defensive player. So I guess we'll see okay as S. We look to the jets. Team in the raiders. Coming into New York City of we are going to break down everything that we think is going to happen the game. We're going to give you predictions as well but first. Let's take a break.

"And get a new sign up bonus of up to fifty dollars had a a lot of siblings and the way my mom used to do things was she'd make us go sit it out for like an hour and then she come grab us and then we'd have to face to face to each other and look each other in the eye okay and then like say exactly what we were sorry for and how we were going to improve things okay so in this case like how does antonio brown go to mike. May i look him in the eye this happen i mean is there any way that this can be repaired. What do you think out him. I don't know i mean yes. Six could be repaired. I think things can always be repaired. The problem that they have it is if you let this go and if you tony brown fly and you guys have talked to other people i've talked. That's about it as well. I mean you've now just turned the team loose to do whatever they want to do. Like you. Literally can get into confrontation with your boss. <hes> scream at him. Say say whatever you want and then punt a ball and say find me for vat which by the way. I don't know how trademarks work but i'm claiming the trademark on that right now because i want to sell t-shirts. Yes this on the podcast right. Now i think qualifies as a as copywriting that but <hes> i mean if you if you do that added nothing happens then it just it's. It's a free frost everybody else so i think it does become an issue now. The other thing i heard people discussing today and i mean this. Let's say even worse example is if it is now antonio brown or mike mayock and the raiders organization chooses antonio brown. I mean that's that would be an even worse president. You could possibly choose. I i can see that possibly happening <hes> but listen. It's it's a really really difficult all spa. They put themselves in <hes> it was you know made even worse by the fact that they tried to play good cop bad cop all you know all all season long with antonio brown brown and that may i was gonna come down hard on him and gruner was gonna let him do it every wanted <hes> and that seems do not work either because now gruden today <hes> seem to finally be frustrated that his wits end with everything so <hes> they've let it get to this point and it sucks that they're in this position but they let it get here and <hes> the last thing i starting to say this at the beginning and i got of of course <hes> as i often do but <hes> you go you go into the season with antonio brown if you if you allow this to happen you allow him to play whatever whatever you do suspend them half or whatever they're going to try to do and try to repair the the situation <hes>. It's very very possible and i know that they have higher expectations but it's incredibly possible that they're one in six to start the season. In fact i think on the on the sports book odds board. I think that's the expectation right now that they're going to be one in six in their first seven games. I think they're underdogs in six of the game so <hes> if you allow them tony around the stay and don't do much. How much worse is it going to be when they're one in six. I mean that would be <hes> that would just be a recipe for absolute disaster at that point and this recipe right now is just spelling distraction and so when you look at this team. How do they regroup. Get into the right mindset to go face the denver broncos on monday because that's something that's a head. It's something and they have to do. I think adam you were talking about the numbers. It was pick him when the week started and now i believe the broncos are favored by two and a half. I want to say so wh the make adam just to follow up start. Oh sorry to cut you off because now they're owned thorough in seven then because i think that was the one game <hes> that they were looking at as possibly being a win it so. I don't think there'll be any of their first seven games. Wow all right so there's the numbers on that but yeah okay. How does this team regroup miles. What do they do to get. They're frame of mind right. How big of a distraction is this. When you're heading into the first game of the season trying to prove that you can become this winning culture when the lead the main star this team is causing all this drama well. I think part of it is they're used to practicing without antonio brown right think about all the training camp practices that the didn't have antonio brown for it and that's basically all of them so we're talking about the team drills and everything like that. It's in some ways and not quite similar but go with me here right like andrew lock right. We know that he just retired but at the same time jacoby bruce sets been the one who's been taking all of the reps as the first in quarterback since the spring now. It's not necessarily the same kind of deal with antonio brown but you know the amazon echo brown was not there for every single off season. Practice is certainly was not there for most of all the training camp practices especially when they're doing teams so they they'd been really preparing to not have antonio brown the entire time so in that way. This isn't very much traction. Antonio brown was kind of like ah bonus that you're going to add when you started game planning and then you would see wow this guy really can take us all to the next level so in that way i mean yeah. Would you rather have antonio brown absolutely but are you really up a creek without a paddle without antonio brown in terms of offensive scheme and things like that. I think there's no now again. He's still one of the best receivers in the n._f._l. So he's not gonna floyd that yeah. That's going to hurt their chances of winning but again like they. They know how to game plan without adam okay. So what are the keys to this game miles. Give me the main objective. The raiders need to accomplish to be able to put a w here in their win. Column don't get there are killed. <hes> trent brown colt miller have to be stout at the tackle positions because they have to you really really really good rushers in von miller who's on track to become hall of famer and then bradley chubb who played really well also as a rookie fortunately trent brown at right tackles the one that's going to be going up against von miller at least if we are to believe all the things that have happened in the past are going to happen in the future of von miller usually rushes over the right tackle right so that's going to be trent brown and trent brown probably as offensive lineman on xtra lease on the extra rodney hudson. I guess we give him a good run for his money with that but colton miller is going to have his hands will probably with bradley challenge wasn't colton miller struggled throughout in his rookie season especially when his knee injury continued to get worse so you hope he's healthy <hes> because that's going to be key right if they i can go out there in protect derek carr and give him the time to find open receivers who aren't named antonio brown and also can get push affront to allow josh jacobs. Have those good running lanes then. They're going to be in pretty decent shape. At least. I don't believe very much in joe. Flacco joe echoes not lied to me and i also think wacky things tend to happen in week one especially in that second monday night football game so at this point i almost would still pick the raiders to win win. Why hedge i would still pick the raiders to win. This game is going to be tough yeah. I can definitely see the uphill battle. I think you're right about joe flock. Oh i think we see a lot from clean feral coming off the edge and rushing in there but it's a matter like you said if they're offensive line the battle of wills and design plays low. I think that gunther showed us in the preseason. He has a nice little set. There is some exotic blitzes so i'm looking forward to seeing what happens is in regular season as we know preseason. It's not always what you see so adam. Witty think is a key here for the raiders to get a w. Come monday night i mean i think it's going to be the defense coming together. <hes> quicker than it's expected to. I mean they added a lot of good pieces and i think there's a lot more talent than there was. Last year. I think schematically there a ton better than they were last year and i think the defense by the end of the season could be pretty good but i i think they're key to getting awareness to to find a way to put something together. Defensively i think even with without antonio brown even with the problems on the interior of the office of mind with injuries and suspension in jacksonville cognitive <hes> of those things i i think the offense is going to be a pretty decent at least good enough to win. It's whether the defense can can find find a way to get that cohesion quickly and <hes> and put together a good performance and i think you know starting off the last season <hes> at the coliseum having having a late night monday night you know those fans are gonna be crazy and rowdy and have all day to drink before seven thirty kickoff or whatever time it starts <hes>. It's it's going to be nuts there. So so i mean i think there's a lot of factors going in the favor of the raiders <hes> if you'd kind of throw out this distraction of the antonio brown situation <hes> i think there's a lot of good things work in their direction but it's going to be on the defense to try to win this game and i think there might be some offset downs the hiccups along the way <hes> fitting all those new pieces together and you know and implementing what they wanna do defensively but <hes> i think they can do enough to get this win because <hes> look through the next six games and it's tough to find anymore he i have to i agree with you and this is going to be a very tough game so let's go ahead. We already have miles is a prediction. Is that the official prediction for you miles that the raiders will lose thir first game at home. I said they were gonna win night. High bad my bad listen you. You're you're such a hater and pay this year hi. I'm everybody's gonna pay hike in the city. I haven't shuki dole sent to me and now you're just messing up my prediction now on my bad i bad everybody's gonna pay okay so but here is to adam. Find me for that. Dot com is actually available domain so if you want to you know get it some back miles. Go ahead and add up before adam can get to it. I'm just going to play the role instigator. How about that in your the mic mac to my income though so you could put either find me with a number four or find me spell the word for that dot com either ones.

"Sign up today and get a new site sided with up to fifty dollars all right well. Let's get into the game you brought up keelan doc- had a big game fifty two yards for him. I there's there's a lot of guys that i saw jon gruden after the game talking in the locker room saying the august thirty first is going to be very difficult for them getting down to that fifty eighty three man roster obviously this game. We gotta look at a lot of different people who may be on that bubble people like marcel. Eight-man people like up here smell fennell keelan. Dos <hes> what do you think as far as results helped out anybody's case tonight who was the big standout boy i think it was dos and i think it is mainly because he continues to catch the ball right and i wanted to write about more of the wide receivers verse but an original story was going to be but as the game kept going on you kept seeing drops i mean jon gruden pointed out in his press conference. He said that they're probably two touchdown. Touchdown passes that nate peterman had than being dropped so when you keep seeing that it's like man who is actually continuing to make plays an is keen dos right that that seventeen yard grabby head on the right side line which was probably a throw that was a little bit underthrown by peterman when he goes back grabs <hes> pity key taps the toes and then he goes out of bounce. Those are things a professional wide receivers. Do those are the kinds of things that you say all right. We know that we can utilize as your skill set at this level so that's what they have to keep looking for right and when you're seeing guys just go down with field and sometimes it catches just sometimes they don't yes. They're going to have some maybe difficult decisions to make when you drop the ball and makes it easier all right. We have to get out of this. Quarterback battle is is it going to be nathan peterman or is it going to be mike. Glennon glennon was pulled after just i think nine attempts and four completions thirty eight yards then we had nathan peterman come in in and play the majority of the game after that it was about what mid second quarter i think that <hes> peterman came into the game so when you had the look that we had last week at glennon and then and this week you get more of a look at peterman who between these two is separating themselves as who is going to be that backup for derek carr adam well. I think both it's going to be on the team. I i get the feeling that grew has kept three in the past they kept to last year. I think he wants to keep three a lot of that will determine some of these other positions like who they need to keep deep. If guys are making pushes for the roster and i know one of the things that drew and talked about tonight is potentially five undrafted guys making the roster all of a sudden. You have to start considering. Do you keep dan but i think right now. They're really comfortable with glennon as number two but i think gruden's very intrigued by peterman potential and i don't think to let him go <hes>. I don't know if he believes leaves if they let him go they could. They could keep him around down the road so something tells me he's much more comfortable with glennon right now if they need to go to somebody but he wants that beat him around and he'll keep three other oscar and that's how i feel that they're gonna shake out quarterback camp. It was interesting. I mean gruden was asked after the game basically when he said we we'd seen enough from london so that's why we didn't necessarily need to have him play more than one quarter so he was asked after the game does that mean gene that you've made a decision there and go on not gonna get into that but he did say they really like blunt and and he continues to say he likes nathan peterman. He really really liked what he was able to do. Leading the team down the field for that in two minute drill so that they can kick the game winning field goal so i tend to agree with you adam. I think you know you ever see that old. El paso commercial with the little girl and the tacos and she's like board games does the john curtin and the two quarterbacks okay so the raiders pull out this win three no now in the preseason twenty to twenty twenty one final score and daniel carlson hits all three of his field goal. The last one is eight seconds remaining to put the raiders up when you're talking about morale and team building and that this team is trying to grow its culture. How big is this for the raiders right now as they head into their final preseason game against the seahawks. I'll let you asked this but i'm going to say zero. Just turn it over to mile. I i absolutely agree. I you know what is weird like. I cover teams. I always think man. It's probably good to get a loss in there in the preseason because when you go undefeated in the preseason usually you're going to be bad. Remember the owens sixteen sixteen lions or the own sixteen browns or knowing the preseason now you can also point two teams like i think the raiders had have some kind of strange preseason winning streak going on that somehow got to continue tonight because their game dot like terminated because of inclement weather uh-huh sixteenth win in a row in the preseason that's insane. That's so strange so like they're the outlier but i don't think wins and losses to me. Don't matter in the this is i. I like ingrained can get excited. You know it's better to win than it is to lose sure but at the end of the day you win. If you don't have any injuries in your game and you know tonight for the raiders they really didn't play anybody of consequence in. They didn't really have anybody go down. The green bay packers did so tonight tonight whether came out on top of the store or not you want and the one thing the only thing that i think is mattered in the preseason is that defense was so bad last year and listen tonight. It was a very weird game in the packers. Were you know packers didn't play anybody. They didn't even dress thirty three guys right before the game started because the field like they were playing anything in the raiders didn't have really i started out there but i look at last week. The way that their first team defense played in listen arizona's work-in-progress they blitzed and arizona didn't expect it like there was a lot of things that went their way but i think they're building some confidence in the preseason as far as their defense not being historically bad and i think that is the only thing you can take away and say okay look. We know there's more talent on the defense. They're actually performing on the field. They're getting more comfortable in paul gutters defense so there's progress being made in confidence being built there but for the most part the end result nothing that that kick going through the uprights of the game meant nothing nothing at all anything no honestly okay so. It's a high pressure situation well high high pressure. We came up with that but you have coal as your holder and you got your long snapper and now you've got carlson as is your kicker that battery it is a whole as a little bit important to make sure that you can get that right but other than that i mean it's is very inconsequential but i think thank you know as you mentioned. Defense is better six sacks in the last two games. That's not bad yeah. It's almost not what they had last season in fact civil actually funny. I asked gruden about that. After the game he said we challenged them at halftime because debt green bay was able to go up and down the field because weren't getting anything with a rush so challenge them at halftime. They came out and they performed better in the airport. That's it's good and it's great that you have this insight because as you are down in the field in winnipeg <hes> after the game did anybody happened to bring up the name antonio brown. Did anything come of that name from <hes> was he there. Did he run some practice reps. I did see him. I think actually on the sideline they show him shaking some hands with some fans any news about him and this helmet grievance that goes ozan tomorrow no news in particular he was there. Yes he also was wearing a helmet during pregame warmups. I do not know exactly exactly what kind of helmet that was that he was wearing a helmet. He was also very excited. <hes> when daniel carlson game winning field goal went through are running down the sideline that was nice to see gene so he was there. The only times named up brought a post game was when a reporter asked jon gruden about you know the distractions of the entire her off at training camp. You know basically all of august you know you are not you had the weirdness of traveling the winnipeg and kind of unprompted jon gruden brought up tonio brown's name in ceylon tonio brown here and he's fine la la la and i'm not talking about anymore. Extractions intially five undrafted rookies who might make this team so i was like okay well. Nobody really asked us simply about antonio brown but you brought up antonio brown all right so we can keep up with that story and you guys well on vegas nation dot com. That'll do it for us today. We've got to let him go right now because he's in winnipeg. He's got to enjoy himself yeah yeah. It's got so much out there from what i understand. We're going to go get some room service and go to sleep. Come on my take up room. Service is already close nan. Oh that's most of them close around route ten o'clock the tim hortons. That's the only miles ago find himself tim hortons but you can find him on twitter at miles a simmons adam adam hill l._v. r._j. "I hate losing more than anything and and and I work my tail off man to make sure that Our city our fans our team our coaches and all that can just enjoy win and so men sitting here at one and seven eighths sucks but nothing is going to stop until I see the other side of it and great commander the system and defensively they're fiscal men good football team what football fans it's time for another episode of Megan's name Russian your podcasters concert by local southern Nevada Toyota dealers I'm your host Heidi Fang joined also with Michael Belkin are raiders beat writer whose out in Oakland this week waiting for the home return of the raiders who just got off the battle the bay loss to the forty niners again we talked about that in last Week's episode and this week they will close out their season series with the chargers this Sunday in Oakland the La chargers are now six into in the year and looking to extend that win streak to six they just recently came off a win over the Seahawks so another big game here for Oakland divisional game but for right now I think it means more obviously to the chargers who are second in the AFC West Oakland still hanging on the autumn wrong at one in seven these seems last week five and it was a twenty six to ten victory for the chargers and now they're looking to move into Oakland Wissam St behind him so we're GONNA get into that we're also going to talk with Gilbert Manzano who's here he's going to give us kind of his on the clock look at what could become the Peter's draft we're going to bring that in weekly and talk about different players that could make a good fit for the raiders in the coming draft of twenty nineteen we're also going to hear from Eddie van der does defensive tackle who last year tore his acl he's on the Comeback Path and we're going to hear his story and what it's going to take for him on this recovery mission and how he spent this year on the publicity with the raiders and what his comeback path will be like so we will hear from him a little bit later here in the show but again let me reintroduce Michael Belkin you can find him on twitter at Gilpin NFL working to get right into it here breaking down this chargers Gotcha for Oakland Michael this has been another crazy week for the raiders this week they release Bruce Irvin the offensive line still samples were wondering what the status is of some of the players there what can you tell us about what's happened here with Bruce Irvin and most importantly who's going to step into his shoes at defensive end for the raiders or first of all the timing of the move was not ideal. I was in a movie theater watching Lady Gaga Bradley Cooper Film Ran The news arose I was in I was trying to do my best to pay attention to my phone and I had a text I Gilbert and see if you could help me out thousands of pension I wanted it I needed to know how the movie was GonNa End so the timing wasn't great but timing though wasn't I may refer me but I think it was great for Bruce Irvin because now he gets the finish out this season with his hometown team the Lanta salkin now he gets to join a foreign four squad certainly a contender and he also gets more money out of it the raiders still oh Bruce Irvin the remaining portion of eight million dollar salary for two thousand eighteen which amounts to about three point eight roughly million dollars the lesson met and so he still gets that money on top of what the Atlanta Falcons are playing him for the final half of the season so all in all great timing to be Bruce even he ran onto the practice field this week with the Falcons and said something along the lines of I'm free I'm free as quoted by reporters on scene so he really happy to be out of the one seven abyss that is the two thousand eighteen Oakland raiders and so good for him and it I think was probably the best thing you could argue for the raiders as well when he was only playing nine defensive snaps I believe on Thursday evening against the San Francisco Forty niners are aw they want guys who can just have the right mindset going into the final half of the season everyone in the building knows what it is it's a bit of a Filler I want to develop your your young talents of filler given out of it until next offseason when they really can address the roster and so deserving this career to be writing through that I just don't know if he was built to handle that emotionally I probably wouldn't have been a positive situation for the locker room so I think it was the right timing for everybody not named Michael Milkin now it's unfortunate how was the movie the and what you're able to focus on with it I've heard nothing but great things about this flick it was good it was good stars born I would recommend it I would just say I without being more detailed after saying this it's one of those movies that you walk Abbas Theater and it sticks with you for a while for better for worse it's just it's really well done yeah so that's that's that I have never seen a star is born not in any way uh and none of those movies so for me this would be a new experience if I were to go but I appreciate the tip on that just in case I plan on going but I know this week on November fifth. Actually the raiders did signed Smith HE I don't think he's really gonNA come in and play ought to get into a role like you mentioned Bruce Irvin was rotating in there with the other defensive ends so I don't know where does he fit in if at all immediately as a plug in for this defense unclear whether he'll be active on Sunday against the chargers between hand and Kony ealy you know these are guys that the raiders brought in to involve their defense is is atrocious certainly from a pass rush standpoint they're the worst pass rush that pro football focus has ever documented on film which goes back x several years they had four sacks or pardon me that to sex in their lone win of the season against the Cleveland Brown on September thirtieth they haven't had multiple sacks in any of their seven losses and because of that I think they had four takeaways in that same game against the Cleveland Browns they've had to take aways combined in their other seven games those losses and so the aren't getting enough pressure they're not forcing take away as the offense had awful field position pretty much all season and so if you can find some veterans even though they've you're signing him off the street and I think people's expectations should be adjusted accordingly. Maybe one of those guys surprises improved player for you it's it wouldn't be surprised if neither do a given that they have a lot to prove you know they've been passed over and this league guys have had workouts of other teens and just not gotten opportunity of the raiders are willing to get the one so you know they have the you know somewhat stereotypical you know so so to speak chip on their shoulder they'll have that and they looked to show that they belong in this league this is their opportunity where the final eight games of these Games mean a lot to them in their careers I would absolutely think it would especially going against it visual opponent these two teams the chargers on the raiders have met up I believe a hundred eighteen times I think that's the most of any opponent that they've had I and meeting Wise One hundred eighteen times at the chargers right now under Anthony Lynn this is like their best start since two thousand six again second place in the if see west the offense is ranked at eighth right now in the NFL you have studs like Keenan Allen who has six hundred thirty receiving yards Kevin Gordon Right now at eight hundred and sixty eight scrimmage yards for the team and of course Philip rivers at the helm man he is sharper than ever this year so we're the raiders this is going to be a really important game for them to try to make a stand to try to show something give a spark to this team I don't know where they're going to muster it from but I think they definitely in this kind of a situation need to try to come out just guns blazing like you mentioned in the Cleveland Gain Michael That was one of the Games where we could see that you could see there was a sense of urgency but it's really not been there I haven't seen that spark as much in recent games and I wonder where they're going to get it you're they're embedded on a we a two week basis you talked about how reserve leaving the field saying I'm free I'm free I mean what's the team's response been to that if at all if you've been able to speak to any of the the raiders about that departure and also you know where do you think that extra push is going to come from in this game who has that spark I've spoken a little bit the players regarding Bruce Irvin and this is not the First Defensive Co captain that they've seen go out the door Dirk Johnson was least as well and so I think they're almost use with almost numb to it but I think they're all genuinely happy for Bruce that he got out of the locker room and that he's got a chance at this stage in his career you know like a virgin as to why they haven't gotten off too fast arts and Games are Venal close at opponents winning I just younger talented on defense it's critical spots on offense their offense align is dismissed so banged up I don't want to I think it's just been a lack of can-do and so Coaching staff wants to win locked room wants to win they feel urgency but it's one thing to feel something that's quite another to be able to go out and execute and if there are mental breakdowns at times the breakdown have been physical so it's been something of a cataclysmic breakdown as to why the raiders are sitting here out one in seven now in come the chargers presuming the air quality doesn't prove to be an issue in this game gets off right on time as planned and I mentioned this we're talking on a Thursday and the air quality was deemed to be unhealthy by the Environmental Protection Agency as a raiders. Were practising on this afternoon so we'll just see you and your last year when the chargers came into town air quality was one of the bigger talking points were the NFL was considering having the game be relocated a to Dallas ours was Arlington that the Dallas Cowboys. "With this business I'll never forget James Jones Marcel Rec- would cut Justin Tuck They would always tell me you gotta bring all the time because this league they will Google not gonNa make excuses about the injuries on the line but those are very difficult to overcome the kinds that we had tonight but defensive we we gotta find a way start getting better everyone welcome to the Vegas Nation podcast brought to you by your local southern Nevada Toyota dealers I'm your host Heidi Fang join today Hey with our raiders beat writer Michael Belkin who still over in Oakland I on the other hand left Santa Clara got back here to Vegas and we are going going to talk everything raiders against the forty niners what a brutal loss for the team taking on the forty niners third string quarterback ed unable to make stops when it counted tons of big plays led to the final score thirty four to three for the raiders and what a hard loss to suffer the battle of the bay falling to one in seven now last in the AFC west Lots of what we heard from Gruden and car was about trying to keep things together trying to keep the morale of the team positive and Gruden discussing the injuries yet again the troubles that they've had on the offensive line just something that the right now it's a hunter and a hurdle that they're unable to get past we saw Colin Miller fault injury he did return to the game briefly but then again was pulled out Michael What is the status of this offense of line and just the sham calls that has been left in as of late within been unbelievable problem all season and when you look at the raiders and their struggles at times the offense hasn't been among them because it had protection because Derek Carr is getting the ball his hands quickly we've seen some positive moments as recently as Sunday against any apple's colts raiders did not lose that game because of a lack of efficiency on offense but on Thursday night in Santa Clara. very I drive tackle Colton Miller who suffered a right knee injury I on September thirtieth week four against the Cleveland browns suffers the right knee injury again unclear if it's related exactly in terms of diagnosis to the great to MC MC L. Sprain he suffered initially the more than a month ago but it was enough as you mentioned to force him out of action the entire second half he was on the bench ruled out he did reenter with a hefty brace but he wasn't able to really plant in that leg and it caused problems for Derek Carr in protection that might be enough to have your left tackle be rendered available or limited for essentially three quarters plus of a game but that wasn't all that happened for the raiders right tackle Brandon Parker other rookie this one two third round draft pick he had a false start he had holding any allowed to sack all in the offense is I two series the Game Tom Cable had enough he told Brennan Parker to relax. You're just trying to make too much happened you're too energetic to hyped up so he went ahead and put in Silberman into a game silberman someone who was with the raiders in training camp and not make their initial fifty three man roster has been inactive healthy scratch while the bulk of his time since he was resigned last month he steps into action at right tackle by the end of this game you've also play left tackle assembly the teams probe left guard who appeared in the game for the first time since September thirtieth he aggravated apparently a right knee injury that happened after already moved from left guard to left tackle and so all of this was to say that it was a mess Derek Carr was sacked four times as a career high over the course of the game raiders allow eight sacks agent Karen was down once in the fourth quarter the forty niners sacked the raiders more times than raiders have sacked opposing quarterbacks all season the raiders have seven quarterback sacks in two thousand eighteen again the niners on Thursday night at eight of them and that being a huge problem the protection again you bring that up car was I guess the best word is benched in the fourth quarter or sat in favor of Jay McCarron just because at that point they said okay there's thirty I think there is thirty four points up at the time and then you have a missed field goal her late in the second half and at that point they go for it on their next drive I believe and they have a turnover on downs it was just pointless I think for them to have even put car into any more danger. He's somebody that you want as your franchise quarterback to preserve for the coming seasons you definitely don't want to put him into harm's way when it's unnecessary but at the same time I think Raider fans want to see and fight out of the team at something their car keeps alluding to saying that you never quit we always put our best foot forward you always fight to the end but yet in the in the fourth quarter were saying let's take care of our quarterback let's put him on the sideline let's bring in Aj mccaren have them hand off the ball run the clock down and you know maybe we get a first down out of this maybe we don't but at the same time you have on the other side Nick mullins just having a field day because as you mentioned the the defense for the raiders hasn't been able to make stops they got he has a two hundred sixty two passing yards three touchdown day pretty clean day for somebody making in fact I think one of the best starts that we've seen in a replacement quarterback for the forty niners you had though some guys breaking off huge plays like George kittle going seventy nine yard reception on a play We had James with a fifty three yard catch and run before halftime big huge plays that the raiders can't afford to give up but yet as Jon Gruden said in the Post we can't find a way to stop the bleeding and Reggie Nelson spoke about that in the locker.

"Work now you've got extra day next comeback work in office person drives together and drive down the field getting ready step on toes and go back with you penalties we've got we've got find a way to protect our front where she was gonNA get fast and find a way Michael What is your take on the offense well I think when you look at the lack of production from the receivers to me it's just a reflection of the offensive line where when the raiders it has lacked the productivity from a receiver core you look at the offensive line and and there's your answer Derek Carr is uncomfortable in the pocket he's being act four plus times and obviously as we mentioned earlier that was the case on Thursday I think if there is a fair criticism to make and kind of piggyback on what we're talking about but regarding accountability one common thread this season is that the raiders offensive line has really struggled again maybe this is personnel not to overlook that but the raiders offense of line has really struggled to handle adversity in terms of being shorthand ended when offense of tackle or DR whomever it may be goes down by injury and that's not to say necessarily talk came all might be the coach who could be fired after the season I don't WanNa say that because I know the respect that Jon Gruden has for him he talks about him like he's one of the very best offensive line coaches in the league but I do think that is a fair criticism after the first half of the season is that when the raiders are bit undermanned on the offensive line it's totally hindered their offense that they've been Hamstrung Derek Carr barely attempting passes at travel more than ten yards in the air I wanted the raiders had to such passes on Thursday both of them or income fleet in terms of yards traveled in the air so when you aren't pushing the ball downfield you're uncomfortable as a quarterback play caller just aren't able to get things done because of injuries on your offensive line you have to shore up that line from a personnel standpoint and the raiders will be adding a former offense tackle there's David Sharp on waivers officially they submitted a claim that were awarded for him on Thursday officially on Friday that will be reflect on the roster it can be immediately for was a problem all offseason we spent a lot of time talking about it but a tom cable you could argue that needs to find some way to make it work with this group together is ridiculous this trend where when the raiders are short handed on their offensive line which has been a two cables credit an unfair amount of times this happened this season and still they've shown an inability to overcome it I think Colegio similarly moving from left guard left tackle where he had in practice I'll offseason to my records agenda and then he allows us act and injures his knee is the whole thing just kind of seemed slopping I think there's been time into season where we've seen Justin Murray and offensive tackle by eight step in at left guard when why wasn't in Silberman active that game just different seeing that the raiders need to take on Har look at it can they prepare better for win injury related adversity strikes and then maybe do they need more veteran let's at offensive tackle more experienced guys one of the very first moves thought V very first roster move for Jon Gruden was releasing Marshall Newhouse and you've missed maybe some of that veteran presence just knowing what to do at Donald Penn of course that injury that did not help things you know he's on injured reserve with a groin injury nonetheless you have to make do with what you have and I just didn't seem like the raiders have done as good of a job as maybe they should have been it comes to overcoming adversity on her line on that note Michael we're going to go ahead and take a quick break we're gonNA come back and talk about the raiders facing the chargers at home I'm next Sunday and we're also going to.

"raiders" Discussed on Vegas Nation - Raiders Football

"Welcome to our biggest nation podcast we're here for all raider nations who talks over black as always we have Richard writer Michael Milkin calling in from addicted in the win their first two games to sit in that too but that's neither here nor there let's go ahead and get to what you guys ready let's all right let's make it happen well Michael. off the top since you're the man the myth legend the guy who's at all of the practices and the press conferences and everything else what is the biggest news that everyone needs to know as far as concerned with the raiders right now wasn't like huge Newsweek for the raiders certainly relative to previous weeks there wasn't some major Steininger like any of the two defensive linemen the raiders broaden last week or wide receiver Martavis Bryant goes a bit quieter on the transaction wire but I think this can be construed as news we're getting greater clarity in terms of how Eric Carr and the offense are coming together in two thousand eighteen and obviously the only two games in we have fourteen ago we're just halfway into the first quarter season but when you look at what the raiders were able to do offensively I think a number of things stand out it coaching you'll get the cream activity conceptually a to what Jon Gruden in this offense are doing there's a real sophistication that Gruden has implemented into the there's often that I don't know we st not many offenses are doing with the raiders are doing offensively and then beyond that we're continuing to see something from Derek Carr to be in so quick with the ball and we can talk about it later increased detail but he's just been a really good job of just protecting themselves with some of the things even before and after the snap so I gue- that the keeping their even though into the record books you know in in the raiders are looking up in the standings at the rest of the division you have to take a real close look at what into -veloping beyond the transaction wire but what's really happening and I think it didn't show up in the standings and then show upon binding of open you look at just the spill the raiders clearly are moving in the right direction offensively and really quick to Michael's point the Oakland raiders right now net total yards the leaders as far as teams in the NFL they're sitting at ten th right now so their offense they're cop they're accruing seven hundred sixty yards of offense per game and with that being said I like keeping the glass half been talking about this the raiders are right now too and Owen this season in the first half so that's kind of how to put it what do you think they're also the top teams when it comes to you know you know getting yards per personnel I think they were mainly top six I saw I'm forgetting the numbers but you know Michael Spiderman Derek Carr I think he's eighty percent Dan complained most of his passes last week it was ninety percent so he's he's connecting what is why receivers and maybe releasing the ball much quicker because you were facing a passwords from the Broncos von Miller before that you're facing Aaron Donna and the Rams so getting the ball much out quicker was very important and I think their car did that and he made a great throw last week to Seth Roberts whereas for his only touchdown I think it was it was between two defenders and laser right up the middle so for me I think their cars having a good story and we had the three hundred APPs in the first week but he bounced back for a good performance against the broncos okay that's good to see that he he's he actually hasn't done half bad I'd like to give him some credit for completing a high percentage of passes I mean Michael you sat there and watch the game in person for a guy to complete that many passes into lose a game something that's almost unheard of isn't it it is I have to go back and look I got I did I did that works the day after the game but I believe it was something along the lines love Derek Carr was The anything that again I think quarterback who completed eighty eight and a half percent or more of their passes with minimum fifty attempts eighty point five or above art for twenty six no NFL history before your calls he didn't have any interceptions Amman history and completions and one of those the drop pass on fourth and one that was real critical in the fourth quarter yes like I think you yeah you're GonNa talk about Derek Carr in the completions you have to also talk about the protection for holding up at certain times even though the ball games dirt cars can quickly until they're they're holding up their way it's a freely good broncos pass rush and then the receiver for the the fact that we we can single out giving drop because there really weren't many and it's at Robert Coming up at fastball twenty one yard touchdown or Amari Cooper Ken targets and his direction he caught all ten of them which is rare you see somebody who can pretend on target and I think all in all it was a great performance a clean fairly clean performance by many on offense now that being said there are still moments when he at this game and you think to yourself this can get even better and I would highlight for example one of their cards completions with on the opening drive of the game the raiders have been a really good job at getting points to start of the game you know there are two terms of scoring and the opening possession will Sunday had to settle for a steal because on third down in the red zone Derek Carr dumped off the short cast and Marshawn Lynch for four yard loss. pincay Mike nugent for this deal gold three zero it very easily could have been seven zero if there wasn't a miscommunication there between their car in Marshall It's where you see them before this now did you go back and watch that play again march on seems to be kind of processing what his assignment is in blitz protection and because of them not being totally in the same page still in their second game injured is often you had a direct park on a raw to those right but ideally if everyone is sure about their assignment and just be confident execute in a hostile environment is the raiders Certainly hope to be able to do as the season progresses jet is probably touchdown instead of field goal which means a lot in the game decided by one point yeah action but it's going to be when it comes at a crucial point in the game you gotta do everything right I think when case keenum scored and I think it was one thousand nine hundred nineteen the raiders it's point Jon Gruden as you've heard in the press conferences Michael has been very honest with his team and and how they need to improve and what things they need to work on here his and Gruden talking to the media about team needs to do moving forward we.
