"AP sports I'm Josh rowntree. We start on the NBA where Memphis took a game over Dallas with multiple stars sidelined. Correspondent Robert Stevens has more. Desmond baines scored 23 points as the Memphis Grizzlies completed a two game sweep of the Dallas Mavericks, one O four 88. Naz played without Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving both injured while the grizzlies were again without John morant. Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins says his team up this defensive intensity in the second half. Come out of halftime with just a renewed energy and mentality. Hey, we got to raise our level both sides of the floor. We made a couple adjustments defensively that paid off for us, which got us going with our groove on offense. And obviously that third quarter kind of changed the game. David roddy and Dylan Brooks had 19 apiece from Memphis while Jaden hardy led the Mavs with 28. Josh green at 23. Bob Stevens Dallas. In Houston, the rockets knocked off the Celtics one 11 one O 9. And jabari Smith scored 24 to lead the young rockets, one of the best teams in the league, where it was in the finals last year, you know, just competing with him. You know, going down to the wire like that with a great team like that. It's just real promise in this room. It's really good for us. The bucks beat the kings one 33, one 24. Giannis Antetokounmpo poured in 46 in the win. The warriors took down the sun's one 23 one 12 behind 38 points from Klay Thompson, including 33 in the first half. On the ice, buffalo scored three third period goals rallying to beat Toronto four three. Alex tuck at the 30 goal mark with a pair in the final frame. We kind of got back to just trying to work and make simple plays and you know I just roll over one line after another after another and it makes a huge difference out there and big news in the opening day of NFL free agency. The Raiders reportedly filled their QB void by agreeing to terms with former 49er. Jimmy Garoppolo on a three year deal worth, 67 and a half $1 million. The bears are set to give linebacker tremaine Edmonds a four year $72 million contract and the Steelers are bringing on three time all pro corner Patrick Peterson for a two year deal. No. 3 Kansas tops Texas Tech to clinch Big 12 title share
"Kansas freshman Grady dick sealed the win on a pair of free throws with three seconds left in the game. Texas tech trailed by 9 at halftime and stayed close in the second half, but the red raiders were never able to grab a second half lead. Jalen Wilson led KU and scoring with 21 points. To be the champion and to finish on top like that, it means a lot and shows all the hard work and the grid of this team. So it meant so much to me. He's a junior, but will graduate in May and is not expected to return. It's the 64th regular season conference title four KU tops and the NCAA. Greg iklin, Lawrence Kansas.

The Truth About Project Veritas With Steve Bannon
"Let's get right into it. Joining us now is Steve Bannon to react to the project veritas news. James O'Keefe is out at project veritas Steve. I wanted to lead with you today. You have been through a variety of different business situations, merger and acquisitions. You've dealt with CEOs, artists. You've dealt with actors that with all of it, but James O'Keefe is special to our country. He is important to our movement. Steve, how should we think about this? Well, you know, Charlie, I'm not a conspiracy theory guy, but I got to tell you, I have talked to a lot of people overnight and then this morning, given what's put out, I can't figure out what went on here. Remember, I came out of gold after Harvard. I came out of Goldman Sachs in the defense Goldman Sachs the time was where the defenders against hostile takeovers. So my whole early career in Wall Street was defending raiders and defending hostile takeovers. That's what we've had here. And that's why you got to look at it. And I think right now, the solution is quite simple. I think the board has to terminate anybody that these former consultants they brought in and these former people that ran it had to terminate them immediately and maybe other board members and they have to return. They have to vote unanimously to bring O'Keefe back. And then they should resign. I think they got a clear house over here. I met Keith, I don't know, 12 years ago when Andrews, I think it was in 2009 or 2010 during the acorn situation. When I was just Andrews at the beginning of his financial adviser about raising capital, Andrew, and James will keep to think what he's done to build that organization. Charlie, here's what got me. When they came out with their thing, yesterday the board, I actually thought I'd call a couple of people, I said, is this a parody? Are they kidding?

How the Left Jumps to Conclusions
"Let me get to Carrie Lake because I had spoken about the shooting. Maybe I'll get back to that in a second. I think it's crazy. I don't know if it's something that's real shocking in my personal opinion. You know the people are being SJWs. They can't help themselves. I mean, even in Los Angeles raiders. And everybody else, all they do is they come out initially and they go, stop Asian hate. We need to stop Asian hate. The Asians, I mean, shut the front door. How many people, and this is my personal opinion. Why can't you just wait? Until you find out who did the shooting, this didn't come out and say it's Asian hate and that white people are killing Asians. They say they do the same thing with black people. A black man gets shot by a police officer, you know where they go. But then they get shot by a black police officer, you know, a white man gets shot. I mean, black person gets shot by police officer assuming white. Then they finally these black the story goes away. The kid go and shoot his teacher in the head. I don't know if he shot in the head or wherever. They got she didn't die. I reported on my YouTube channel that she had died because I saw a report that she had died, but I was wrong. I had to fix that. But she didn't die, but the reason that you don't hear about the 7 year old, however, he was, shooting his teacher, 'cause the kid was black. This is why you can't trust the media. This is why you can't trust the social justice warriors. Just shut the front door, slow down for a minute. Wait till you get the facts. At least sufficient facts. And then come out with your argument. Los Angeles Rams, we need to focus on football.

"NFL week 17 roundup, I'm Dave fairy. Three teams are now battling for the last NFC wild card birth and one is the packers is Mark Daniels reports. You have enough for debt a month ago, the Green Bay Packers dominated the NFC north champion Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field 41 17 for their fourth in a row. Fell behind three to nothing after a block pond early, but keyshawn Nixon took the next kick-off back a 105 yards for a touchdown packers didn't stop until it was 41 three, midway through the fourth. This one out 12 and four while the 8 and 8 packers need only to beat the Detroit Lions in their finale at home to secure the NFC's final wild card spot. The Lions also enjoyed a blowout win. Denny cap was there. The lion's defense sacks Justin Fields 7 times in a 41 ten route of the bears, Lions rookie James Houston tally three sacks in just a 6 game of the season and now leads all NFL rookies with 8 of them on the year as his team stays in the playoff hunt, improving the 8 and 8. We coming together as a team, everybody is getting better, man. Everybody's doing their job. Everybody's executing when they're supposed to execute. Houston also forced a fumble of fields who completed just 7 of 21 for 75 yards. The Seahawks also have postseason hopes. Jim Bernard has the details. The Seattle Seahawks kept their playoff hopes alive with a 23 6 win over the New York Jets. Gino Smith passed for 183 yards and two touchdowns as the seahawk snapped a three game losing streak. Obviously, we hit a rough patch and it's not what we want, but we still got a shot. And so what we can control is winning next week, another tough opponent. But all we can do is control what we can control and look at the situation at hand. The jets committed three turnovers to drop their fist straight game, which eliminated them from postseason contention. The Giants have extended their season, Mike mancuso reports. The Giants have clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2016 with a 38 to ten win over Indianapolis. Daniel Jones led the way he threw for a 177 yards and two TDs. He ran for 91 yards with touchdown runs of 18 and ten yards. Just to exciting, I think, like I said, we've been through some been through some tough times and to be on this side of it is a lot of fun. Landon Collins returned the Nick Foles and interception, 52 yards for a touchdown as the Giants built a 24 to three halftime lead. The eagles must have the chance to clinch the top seat in the NFC playoffs. Here's Michael luongo. The states picked up their third straight, where were they 2010 went over the eagles, New Orleans, took the 7th thing, they didn't know one yard run by Taysom Hill. They sealed the victory when Marshawn latimer put another pass by Gardner and menchu and ran it back 11 yards for a score and a Dalton through two to four yards for the saints who improved the 7 and 9 when you look at how you finish the season. There's a lot to say for that and there's a lot that you can carry over and you want to be playing your best football at the end of the year and I feel like we're doing that. Mention had one touchdown pass for the Bridget is still clinched against the eastern Division Championship and the number one overall seed with the win next week. Eric waddell watched the Buccaneers clinch a playoff birth. Tampa Bay out lasted Carolina 30 to 24. The win for the bucks clinched the NFC south title, bucks wide receiver Chris Godwin had a 120 receiving yards and says his team is building for whoever Tampa plays in the playoff. My legacy gets anybody, man. You know, and I feel like we, you know, we still got a ways to go. We still got some things that we got to work on. But, you know, that was a big step for us. The Patriots still have playoff hopes. Gregg cadets, reports. The New England Patriots kept their playoff hopes alive with a 23 21 come from behind victory over the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots took the lead for good in a third quarter interception return for a touchdown by Kyle Duggar. The pick 6 made it four straight weeks at the Patriots defense escort a touchdown. So for what's to come, I feel like that was great in terms of prepping forty-niners kicker Robbie Gould missed a 41 yarder at the end of regulation, but kicked the walk off 23 yarder after tejon Gibson picked off readers quarterback Jared Stidham and overtime. Highlights of Sunday's action in the NFL's Week 15
"Week 15, NFL roundup. I'm Ben Thomas, Sunday's action saw two more overtime games, but neither qualifies as the wildest finish of the weekend. That was in Las Vegas, with the Raiders beat the Patriots. Ryan lyong explains how. The Raiders scored on a crazy play as time expired to beat the Patriots 30 to 24 with three seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and the game tied the Patriots tried to extend a 23 yard run by ramonda Stevenson, but a second lateral by Jacoby Myers was fumbled and recovered by the Raiders Chandler Jones who ran it back 48 yards for the game winning touchdown. At first I was thinking who's around me. And I felt myself stumbled a little bit after the stiff arm. And that was thinking, who do I pitch it to that? I was just trying to, you know, keep the ball alive. It's when I stayed up, I just turned the jets on and the rest was history. Derek Carr was 20 of 38 for 231 yards and three touchdowns. The Bengals Buccaneers game in Tampa matched two division leaders led by two marquee quarterbacks, Tom Brady and Joe burrow. Early on, this was dominated by Brady and the bucks who jumped out to a 17 and nothing lead, but as Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd said, his team didn't panic and capitalized on four Tampa turnovers. When we create them, turn those, we got to go get them touchdowns, and not three. So I think the turning point was the offense rallying off the defense and making those turnovers into touchdowns. Boyd caught one of Joe burrow's four touchdown passes as the Bengals scored 34 consecutive points, cruising to a 34 23 win. Eric waddell, Tampa. Now one of the games that went to OT, Denny cap. The Jaguars overcome a 17 point second half deficit to stun the cowboys 40 34 and overtime. Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence through three of his four touchdowns in the second half, hitting receivers a Jones on three of those four scores. I think it says a lot about this team, how much we trust one another. Widely Patterson sent the game to overtime on a 48 yard field goal as time expired, that set up rayshawn Jenkins for the game winning pick 6 of dak Prescott as Jacksonville improved a 6 and 8 on the season, Noah Brown caught a pair of touchdowns for the cowboys who saw four game winning streaks now and fell to ten and four. I'm Denny cap. The cowboys have clinched a playoff spot, but there are lots of winning the NFC east have gotten longer with the eagles surviving a trip to a frigid soldier field in Chicago. I really couldn't feel my hands. Equals quarterback, Jalen hurts. Didn't really have good vision on the field. In some, I never play anything that cold. Still, final score eagles 25 bears 20. The other two teams in the NFC east still have a shot at a wild card. Craig heist has the outcome of the Giants trip to Washington. Rookie pass rusher kayvon thibodeau had a strip sack of Taylor heinicke and a recovery for a touchdown while saquon Barkley rushed for a touchdown in 87 yards as the Giants beat the commanders 20 to 12. Barkley and the Giants are inching closer to the playoffs. Big win for us and, you know, playing meaningful games here in December, you know, is where you want to be. Heineken through for a touchdown pass, but was also sacked three times. The Giants improved to 8 5 and one while the commanders fall to 7.6 in one. Craig heist land over Maryland. The lines and jets are both now 7 and 7, but one of them is feeling a lot better about it than the other, Mike mancuso was at this one. The Lions continued their playoff push with the 20 to 17 win over the jets, trailing 17 to 13 with one 49 remaining on a fourth and one Jared Goff hit tight end, Brock Wright, who rumbled 51 yards for the go ahead TD. I know we had it, knew the cutback would be there, and I just thought, run as fast as I can, getting that into. Jets quarterback, Zach Wilson, who threw for 317 yards, got the jets set up for a field goal of one second remaining, but Greg sirloin missed from 58 yards. Other finals, the chiefs survived a trip to Houston beating the Texans 30 to 24 in overtime. The Chargers topped the Titans 1714, the Steelers put a 24 16 pounding on the Panthers, the saints so with the falcons 21 18, while the wolf will Broncos be the spiraling Cardinals 24 15. Monday night the Los Angeles Rams play the packers and what should be a rather frigid Lambeau Field and possible snow. I'm Ben Thomas, AP sports

Which Is the Best 'Indiana Jones' Movie?
"While we play our final cut from raiders as we move on to the temple of doom, talk to me. Which is your favorite. Yeah, well I was going to ask you here. So for me, I love grail, I find temple, you know, when kids are being whipped to kind of like, you know, Spielberg, George, what are you doing here? And raiders is just perfection. I mean, raiders, as you said, it's just, it's like a symphony, the pieces just fit together. So raiders is the one. Let me answer it this way. Raiders is the one I could watch whenever. I mean, there's no time I would not want to watch it. I wouldn't say the same about temple, for example. How about you? No, I don't understand. There are some people who temple of doom. That is their favorite indie film. And I personally, I don't get it. Because the creeps. There's value here. I mean, there's a lot of value in this movie. Apparently the chase in the cars or whatever they were, the mine cars. This was supposed to be in the first film. They couldn't figure out manage had to work it in. Well, they ran out of money and time. Is that what happened? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. They may have just written my entire film, they may have just written this entire film around that one stunt, you know, thinking, oh, this is cool. What are we going to do around this? But it does sort of harken back to those old cereals. We're back in the day. So there is something valuable about it. It did. There was a lot of copying of this kind of theme in the 80s. You saw a lot of other properties using this kind of theme after this. And it was a little creepy for sure. For me, last crusade is the funniest one. And therefore, that's the one I can watch the most often. Because I can watch anything with comedy over and over again. As long as I forget the jokes.

Sebastian and Chris Kohls Talk Spielberg's 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'
"We go on, you mentioned you got very entertained last week or you entertained yourself by porkins, one of the Star Wars characters, who is in raiders, right? Easy. Oh yeah, he is. Of course he is. At the beginning, in the college, one of the government agents. One of the men from the ministry from the defense ministry Department of Defense. That's poor kids. I didn't even that never clicked until this moment. That's amazing. Didn't either of you ever go to Sunday school? And that guy's face is colleagues face. It looks like he's eating a lemon when he asks. Such a superb scene. I mean, just the chalkboard, the headpiece of the staff of ra, and then he opens the book and magically, that book with 2000 pages opens on the page with a picture of the ARP, right? Just happens to open on that page and you know what, that's the great thing about those movies. I've never thought about how a magical moment that is until just now. It definitely occurs to me that that was weird. But, you know, back then, in the 80s, that was kind of how things were done. You just did things for convenience sometimes, but I'm watching this documentary how they made it. They put so much work into it. They really loved the craft of filmmaking. You know what's interesting about raiders in that documentary I watched Steven Spielberg says that George Lucas wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark based on his own actual beliefs about what happened to the ark. He wrote an adventure story around his own research about the ark believing that the ark is available to be discovered somewhere. Well, there is a theory that it is in Ethiopia. Have you followed that? Graham Hancock's book, there is a church in Ethiopia that says they have the ark and every year once a year, they bring it out and they have a parade, but it is covered in only one man is ever allowed into the sanctum. Sebastian Dives Into 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' With Chris Kohls
"Years, even some of the people involved with the making of these movies have categorized them, Chris, as B movies, as substandard kind of hokey fun. I think this is one of the best movies. I mean, if you have to give me the top 5 movies to choose, raiders will be amongst the top 5. Where does this be movie thing come from? And isn't it unfair? Yeah, it's definitely unfair, but I would say that there's a lot of different kinds of films, right? You write a film for a specific purpose. And there are some really powerful, amazing films that I will never want to see more than once. You know what I mean? Like really beautifully well made, impressive films, but they're not fun. They're not funny. They're not exciting. Watching Indiana Jones is just so much fun. Especially if you haven't seen it in a while, raiders lost art in particular. You forget some things and your watch, and you're thinking, man, this is just fantastic. I want to do this. I want to be on this adventure. I don't think you can make film better than that, right? To make the audience want to be doing the thing in the film that they're watching, that's to me, that's the ultimate goal right there. If you can make them want to be in the film, then you've won. If you want to emulate the protagonist, then the person making the movie has done their job. Even this, I mean, this moment that the traveling to Nepal. There's no amazing special effects. NFL Live
"raider" Discussed on NFL Live
"Couple of weeks. But a lot of people I talked to reviewing this as a situation where EK Metcalf has one means of leverage right now and that is threatening to not play, right? So by not showing up for mini camp, he's making a statement about where he wants things to be going in the contract situation. So will he hold out of training camp or any part of it? That would be the big question if we get to the end of July and there's still no deal done, but the Seahawks believe they can and will ultimately get him signed. Louis, we kind of have to zoom out for this next question here. Think about this franchise on where it said. These are best strategy right now in Seattle is to find a way to get a deal done with DK Metcalf, which surely will be for many, many, many millions of dollars, perhaps $25 million per year or something like that, or would they be better served to try to trade them away and make it the third wide receiver blockbuster trade of the NFL off season. Well, Phil, I think there's a lot of conversation that has to be had and before you can get to what the resolution is going to be, whether it's going to be a long-term contract or trading away, trading them away by that, I mean this. Look, how does one, how does John Snyder have his Pete Carroll? How do they view DK? Do they view DK as a difference maker of the variety of the guys that have been getting paid top dollar this off season? Do you really? Do you really look at DK the same way you look at devonta Adams? Do you look at him and say, well, you look at tyreek hill. Do you look at him the same way as you look at Stefon Diggs, AJ Brown Cooper Cup. Look, I wouldn't put him in that category. I think he's a notch below that. Now, the next question is, well, what is he asking for? What does Seattle think of him and what is he asking for? So if there's somewhere close in that low $20 million range in Seattle feels as though that philosophically, it makes sense to pay him that amount, then fine, then you keep working towards it. If he's talking about devonta Adams, Cooper Cup type money, then look, my best guess would be that, look, they're not going to pay that kind of money, and they will look at what their next best alternative is. And we saw this past year. Look, wide receivers, more and more and more are starting to be able or starting to be drafted higher and are providing great return on investment, especially when you're talking about and by higher I don't mean just first round, but first and second round. You're getting great return on investment by second rounders. And I'm not saying DK's easily replaceable, but at some point it may come to that. It may come to, look, we're not paying you 25 plus man and receivers are coming in the league and they're tearing it up at a much quicker, faster rate. So this is going to be interesting to watch. It really will because this discussion has a lot of layers to it when you're talking about Seattle in particular. Yeah, listen, if you're DK, who stole me the football, too. They don't have a quarterback. And listen, if your DK you're sitting there, they just trade away Russell Wilson. We don't really have a quarterback. If Jimmy G was available, if he gets there, okay, well, that's a different story. And I think that team would be in better shape, but right now they don't have the answer at quarterback. And Pete Carroll is the oldest head coach in the National Football League. If you sign a four year contract in two years, he might be hitting the surfboard in Hawaii retired at 72. So I really think that he needs to figure out, okay, am I going to be here? Who's going to be my quarterback? Who's going to be throwing me the football? Because we just had a guy in Green Bay leave because he didn't know if Aaron Rodgers was still going to be throwing him the football in a year. So there's a lot of things that this team has to figure out. Number one starting at the quarterback position. Earlier discussion comes to fruition, it could be Jimmy Garoppolo throwing the football to DK met gaff if he is still there in Seattle. Let's move to some quick reads and we of course have more wide receiver chatter specific to a contract and was the latest on the contract stalemate or situation involving debo Samuel the forty-niners. Yeah, opposite DK Metcalf Devo actually showed up for mandatory mini camp, which is obviously obviously an encouraging sign after he had expressed a desire to be traded earlier this off season. I think that request caught the forty-niners by surprise. They felt like they could resolve the situation and right now they feel like they still do. But as we mentioned earlier, they may need to clear some cap space to get their big extensions done. Louis, the saints have their mandatory mini camps soon enough doesn't sound like we'll see Michael Thomas on the field at a 100%. How important is he to the saints offense this year? Look, I think wide receiver rooms are made up and comprised by general managers the same way you build a basketball team. You want guys who compliment one another. Michael Thomas, look, this is the guy's one of the best all around wide receivers in the NFL. He fits perfectly with the other guys that they have like Jarvis lands. You like Marquis Callaway. You know, like crystal lobby with him not being there, that's a tremendous hit to this football team that right now we're all excited about seeing in 2022. Minko gronks still a free agent. Only your expectation is we get closer to a return. Could he potentially be back in the NFL this year? Just relax everybody. Come on, he's sitting back. He's working out. He's feeling good. There's no need for OTAs, mini camp, the off season. He's got great chemistry. We know Tom Brady and Gronk are the go to combo. So he'll be there, he'll probably wait till the end of training camp. What a power move right there by ground. Who needs training camp when you're a future Hall of Famer. Let's go to Detroit where lions head coach Dan Campbell does not expect Jameson Williams, their second of two first round picks to be ready for training camp as their first round with rookie wide receiver continues his recovery from a torn ACL who suffered in January and Alabama's national championship game appearance, Williams previously expressed awesome as an optimism he'd be ready. He doesn't like that'll be the case, but remember, this is about the long haul in the future for Jameson Williams in Detroit. Still rock and roll in here on NFL live and coming up Lewis explains why Bill Belichick being more involved in the Patriots offense. This off season might complicate things for a second. Your quarterback. I'll get back up and keep on fighting I'll be the one to ride the light street games and they were almost like sport extensions of the block party. It wasn't just about the basketballs about culture. Just trying to figure out how we could go see some of these games. They added a disrespect. That's how you break somebody. All right, time for a little read and react and we start in indie where the team has yet another new quarterback in Matt Ryan. Here's Frank Reich on Maddie, ice. Great leadership, great play. I mean, just the whole way took command, you know, a great collaborating as an offensive staff with him to kind of work in and nuance some of the things that we do. To kind of suit him and his style and kind of get to learn a few things about him and pick his brain about things he did and what are the favorite things you did in Atlanta. Let's see if we can incorporate a few of those things that kind of fit with us. So we got a lot of that done over the last number of weeks. Hearing about that new quarterback head coach really relationship. Yeah, all good stuff. I mean, I think what you're hearing from Frank Reich there reflects what you hear from people in that building, which is very impressed with Matt Ryan's professionalism, fits right in. It reminds me a lot of the stuff I heard in Indianapolis two years ago when they brought in Philip Rivers and not a lot of what I heard last year when they brought in Carson. I thought you were going there and I was going to say now. Be careful, Dan. Tom Brady is in buck's camp this week. It's mandatory. It's got a different group of receivers, of course..

"But it was like speed run this, kill as many people in this faster time and I'm like, I'd rather just be challenged by a puzzle for a game that is about rating tombs than having to just speed around and kill a bunch of people and get from point a to point B it's totally a welcome addition, but I don't want it I didn't like how it was the primary focus. Yeah, shadow shadow is an interesting one, not just because of the developer divide, but I felt like there were some really great mechanical aspects of it. I think sort of the like, the open hubs that they did that you could then go out and explore a few points worked well for the exploration focus bits of it. But yeah, when it started to get into the speed testy stuff, I didn't love that. And I also think that story retread too much ground. I think the 2013 reboot granted it was at that time when everything was doing a Gritty reboot and so it did it, but I thought it did it well and I thought rise added to it well. But shadow just felt like it retread a lot of that ground. It was just sort of going over the same emotional beats that Lara had already gone through and I didn't feel like it added anything. Into making her sort of the Tomb Raider that people know and that the arc of the trilogy seemed to be going for. So yeah, like I wouldn't mind if there's even if it's the same Lara if it's a big time jump at least to kind of move past that because I do think a different mode a different style like there is a long history of Tomb Raider being weird and wacky and having dinosaurs and like they're Supernatural stuff natural energy. They can get weird and fun and big again and I don't think that would be a bad thing, but they could also still retain I think a lot of the smart advancements they made in that trilogy. Tomb Raider kind of paved the road for modern day uncharted and then Tomb Raider then took the cues that naughty dog did with uncharted and made the new Tomb Raider, but both of those both of those are like established series now that, yeah, it's kind of like you're not really doing anything new if you just keep making Tomb Raider games and without evolving anything, right? Just another just the fourth game in the entry and it's kind of the same with uncharted. I think they kind of hit this point where they're like uncharted four is great, but like does it do anything that the previous ones don't do except for give you a rope swing, right? So it's kind of like they have to have time to kind of like reinvent reinvent a few things and also I just want to mention that uncharted four is my favorite uncharted. So no, I mean I think for Los legacy or excellent but it is a thing of like wherever the next one goes, I do think it needs to be a little bit of a departure there as well. And the same with Tomb Raider and like the thing that I don't love about uncharted consistently is probably the like is it Supernatural no it's not like we know that twist. It's happened enough times. I want them to do to move past that twist as a focus and they did get toward doing that for and lost legacy. Getting a lot into pirate sort of stuff with four. But yeah, Tomb Raider does lean into it. Tomb Raider does get Supernatural. So go lean into it. That would be fine with me. Yep. I agree. I am getting I have PlayStation tweet notifications on so I keep getting notifications just in case anything major happens. Sales going on right now? No, there's a weapon is back in Fortnite and we'll talk about that later, but before we, before we do just to mention to close the loop on crystal dynamics as well, days gones, director Jeff Ross, who left Ben studio, has actually joined crystal dynamics. He doesn't mention what game he has joined officially, which team in terms of what game he's working on, but he's joined that studio and is working with them. Crystal is very busy, and it's so it's a very interesting time for them because they've, their co developing the perfect dark reboot with the initiative for Xbox, they're now working on a new Tomb Raider, and then Avengers is just kind of out there in the ether. It hasn't gotten a new character since Spider-Man. I think one of the last villain sectors they added was just another Taskmaster villain sector, and he's been in the game since the beginning. I assumed these new projects probably don't spell good things for Avengers having more of a comeback. I think the player count is so low and I feel like I feel like if anything was gonna revitalize it, it would have been this like Spider-Man thing, but the last big piece of content they did was for Black Panther Spider-Man was literally just a character. He was console specific. Right, because it was like, this is, you know, he's arguably the most famous marvel character ever, and it's like, maybe they made that decision because he was PlayStation only, but yeah, it's very strange to just be like, and here's Spider-Man and you're just kind of like, okay, well, you guys seem to not have much more faith in this game. So neither do I now? So I assume that game is not got much left longer to live. Yeah, I've seen some rumors that apparently lady Thor is coming to Avengers, but I mean, at the same time, that's just kind of like, they're doing the whole Hawkeye and Hawkeye. Hawkeye. They're basically doing it. Kate bishop. They're just doing that kind of thing again, which for me as a player, somebody who platinum Avengers and has put hundreds of hours into that game that first 6 months at the game released. It doesn't really do anything to draw me back in when I'm seeing just another character with the same powers. I want to see some variety, give me ant man, give me anybody else really, just like don't give me another reskin of another character. Obviously, I'm not saying lady Thor is a reskin. But you get what I mean. Like the powers are too similar to one another to make me interested to go back. And I played so much of that game. Go ahead, go ahead, sorry. As I say, I really like the game when it came out. It was really solid. It's just there was nothing to do. Once you finish the campaign and you maxed out all your.

"And I will now actually get those emails. You can also of course write them with beyond to beyond at IGN dot com. I know I hope with the subject line memory card. Memory card for those memory card stories that I would really love to read on the show as well. And then maybe some other stuff we'll talk about later in the show you can email in as well. But if you just have general questions or PlayStation subjects you want to talk about, please write in. I did test the email several times. I have been testing once a day just to make sure it works and sending myself emails or asking people on staff to send me emails. So so far, it's still working. It's not like we're an Internet company and need emails to work. It's fine. Anyway, thank you. Thank you for everyone who has been writing in and I apologize that you haven't had your voices heard on the show in a way that I wish that they were. I kept trying to figure out this problem and then it wasn't until someone showed me the database typo that I understood why this was happening. So hopefully, hopefully it all works now. But with that said, we are going to talk about sort of a PlayStation 5 games kind of deep dive thing, you know, 2022 has been a really exciting big year already and we're about to hit I think a little bit of a dry spell, at least in terms of what we know that's coming out. So now that we can pause for a second, take a look back. We want to talk about some of our favorite games from this year in relation to our current best PS5 games list that we have up on IGN. So we're going to talk about that a little bit further into the show. But before we get there, I do want to touch on some news from this week that has happened. And I'll start with, I think, probably the most recent thing, which is that a new Tomb Raider game was announced it will be done by crystal dynamics who of course did the Tomb Raider trilogy reboot of Tomb Raider rise of the Tomb Raider and shadow of the Tomb Raider. This was announced as part of an Unreal Engine 5 showcase Unreal Engine 5 of course being a very Unreal Engine being a very popular development game engine that she used to build all the wonderful games we play. Tomb Raider will be one of the big flagship games using UE 5. There was nothing shown from the game. Crystal is going to be working on it. We don't really know any other details about this and we were kind of talking before the show and Mark I'll just start with you on this because we were sort of talking. It's exciting 'cause Tomb Raider is a very fun franchise, but we don't even know if it's set in that trilogy universe. If it's a new thing, if it's gonna go like off the rails, we just kind of don't know anything at this point. Yeah, the ludington verse we call it, because, you know, it stars Camilla luddington. Yeah, I love that trilogy, but I think by the time shadow kind of has that, what is that, Arkham origins kind of thing to it where shadow was made by a different developer? Then the first two and rise was so good that shadow gets a little bit of unnecessary hate, I think, sometimes. I really like shadow of the Tomb Raider. Oh, I don't hear anybody. Yeah, if Jonathan's talking, we can't hear you right now, bud. Come here. There we go. Here we are. There we go. I was saying that shadow was idos, right? I believe so? That sounds right. Anyway, I just know I just know it wasn't crystal by now, 'cause they had moved on to Avengers by then. But I really like this game, but I also just really like this Lara Croft and but at the same time, I would not be surprised if they feel like it's time to move on from this trilogy. Only because it's like, we have three of them. I don't think she's as beloved as something as like Nathan Drake, so I don't know if people are like really, really wanting more of her, I personally would be totally fine with it, but I also would be totally fine if they're like, this is a new Laura Croft that is a completely new reboot. I would be fine with that as well. But yeah, as of right now, we don't know anything about it. But it's still exciting because Tomb Raider is a franchise that has evolved in such a way that has become really, really beloved by fans. And so to just to hear that we're gonna get another one and that it's being made in Unreal Engine 5. These games are already gorgeous, so the fact that we're getting another really, really pretty one with this new engine is very exciting. Yeah, no, I agree. I a 100% agree with your point on rise Mark. Rise, I think, was the best Tomb Raider game that they've made in a very long time. I feel like the pacing for the gameplay was improved from the original release. I feel like it had more tombs. It had more puzzles, which is really, I mean, that's the thing everybody is wants more of in these Tomb Raider games. And I feel like rise really kind of nailed it. I wish there were still more. But I think we all have that feeling almost after every Tomb Raider game site. I want more tunes. I want more puzzles to solve. Whereas this one kind of slowly moved into that more action phase because let's face it a lot of games during the time of this one. This trilogy's development started moving that same kind of things like, hey, we're going to be more action oriented. We want to be faster paced. We're moving away from this slower, more, I don't want to say thought out, more thought out, process, but it's like a different play style. And I think I wouldn't be surprised if we see a different Laura in the next wave of games. Because I believe just about every one to two generations, we see Laura kind of rebooted, you know? There was what was it was like, I think legend and it was an underworld was like a separate one back in the 360 era and now we have this one that was like PS3 PS4 era. So it kind of makes sense with PS5 error. We're kind of going to move on to a new Laura, but we'll see how or Lara, however you pronounce it wherever. I know there are people who are the comments are already ready for you. You're already ready. But no, yeah, go ahead. No, I was just saying, yeah, I mean, that's kind of my point. I feel like I think we're going to get a new. A new craft. I'm just going to stick with her last name to be safe because I can't pronounce words this morning. But yeah, I think I'd be more than happy to see more of the luddington verse as long as we get more of the rye style gameplay. I love the DLC and rise. I think the whole Baba yaga portion was amazing and I feel like the DLC and I know it's kind of weird to be like comparing DLCs between games, but shout out where shadow really lost me was in its DLC because most of their tombs were to their DLCs.

"Home why was I allowed to live? I have found that many, many men come back for more than I've interviewed. And they will, they question that. There's almost like a guilt about it. Having left so many of their friends on the battlefield. And we tell the story of it and what happens to him. Long story short, he becomes a missionary for the rest of his life after he returns from war. And went to Belize was down there for 25, 30 years, orphanages, churches, preached in Spanish and just dedicated his life to the rainforest and the tribes that lived in Belize. Amazing stories, while we've talked about the bloody ridge, Carroll, let's talk about the long patrol, and this was more with the second raider battalion and that brings us back to mud hole Meryl, who was part of that. But days and days on end to find and eliminate pockets of Japanese fighters, so you've got the persistent danger of combat. And then you've got the brutal conditions you mentioned earlier just of being in the jungle all that time. So talk about the toll that took on him and the other men. They started the long patrol in an area called aioli bay sort of around that area. It's really south, west of where Henderson field was. And before they started Carlson called one of his gung Ho meetings and he told them that Henderson field actually was only about 25, 30 miles away from where they were right then, where they started. And Carlson added as the crow flies. Well, one of the men popped up and said one of his second battalion raiders popped up and said, but sir, you know, we ain't crows. Because the fact of the matter is, they were on that long patrol for 30 31 days. And by the time they got back to Henderson field they had traveled a 150 miles, winding in and out, this serpentine line winding in and out of the jungle. They were led by a man named zuza. Who was he was a tough character himself. He'd been tortured by the Japanese to tell what all he knew about the marines landing at all like that. And he didn't give up any information. And he became one of the best guides that the marines had. And he was on that long patrol. He had carriers that he brought with him. Other members of his tribe that carried the long patrol carry their ammo and some food and different things. And they were in unknown territory, either because these areas that they went through back in the jungle, they strives when had never been back there either. And they encountered all different kinds of pockets of Japanese, took them out. But they would sometimes go for three or four days without food. They only had about a couple of days of rations with them when they started out. They thought they were going to be able to get some drops and they just were not able to locate them once once they got back up into those thick thick Canopy jungles. So sometimes they would go three or four days without food, the Raiders wound up. After 30 days, I mean, but hole said we've got his own account in there. I mean, they were covered in ringworm size sores. Some of them had them all over their bodies. Leeches, they had malaria. They had Barry berry. They were fighting fevers. They were going to miss by the time they finished up the long patrol..

"I mean, you talk about absolutely giving every last ounce of devotion. And it's true of all the guys you mentioned in this book, but I thought that quote was just really powerful. It really is. And I have to tell you that is one of the favorite stories oral stories that the young marine writers today enjoy listening to. It's quite an it's poignant. But it's also one of the most inspiring stories. I think. And it does, it does give you the sense and the feeling of what these writers were all about. Because I think to a man that's probably how they all felt, you know, internally. They were there a writer kills or is guild. And that was there in mentality. No doubt, no doubt. You also discussed the second raider battalion at make an atoll and we learned more about one of the recurring veterans in this story who is known as mud hole Merrill. This make an atoll is barely a dot in the ocean, but it was seen as a way to possibly learn more Japanese troops away from Guadalcanal if I remember correctly. So briefly discuss the fighting there and what we learned about the Raiders there. And let me just insert right here right quick quickly. The structure that I chose for the book was to show all four battalions through the eyesight of one member from each battalion. So you have a person from a writer from first battalion second battalion third and fourth. The structure is different from any book that's been written on marine raiders. And in second battalion, the young man that you've mentioned, Kenny, mudhole, Merrill. Actually, Jimmy Roosevelt named him one time, because he stumbled over him well, but always taking a drink out of literally a mud hole, and that was how his name came. He was Michael Merritt of the day he died..

"Weekend. Not only was the stadium overtaken by cowboy fans which was look expected. Let's be real here cowboy fans pretty much takeover almost stadium but certainly take over a stadium with the chargers where the chargers have had that happen to them a lot recently. And especially in la. Because let's face it. There are a lot of cowboy fans in southern california tons tons. Now i'm not trying to take away. What the cowboys did not win is a win is a win is a win but the chargers had six penalties. Okay six penalties. I want to make this right. That took away two touchdowns to here. It is charges that sick. I'm sorry charger. Adds charges at six first downs and to pass touchdowns taken off the board. Do two penalties both called back. Td's would have given the chargers the lead in the game. The chargers always find a way to grab defeat from the jaws of victory. Basically the opposite of what the saying is supposed to be. Yeah look that. That is the san diego chargers who by the way very interestingly Jerry jones was doing an interview this past weekend and he referred to them as the san diego chargers. And if it wasn't for jerry jones. The chargers would still be in san diego. I mean jerry was the one who opened the door for the chargers to possibly move into l. a. and the only reason the chargers really ultimately did that because they were worried that the raiders move into a. and then they would really be screwed but they do have a let me. Let me play that back a little bit right. Do you think the rate the charges that have been screwed at vape in the team on that gone to las vegas. Because i don't know what i'm saying is is that if the chargers stayed in san diego and the raiders moved with the rams then right now would have been yeah. Yeah but don't you think that the play should have been. The raiders came to la and the chargers with a team to go to vegas. Vegas was going to adopt whatever team they got. They weren't gonna picky about it. I mean if you would have told me that. The chargers moved to to vegas. I don't think you'd have anybody in las vegas saying no no no. We don't want them. We wanted the raiders. So we're not going to support those guys. All they wanted was an nfl football team. The difference is the owner of the raiders. Believe it or not and this is hard to believe but had the foresight to eventually say. Well we're never going to get something done here in oakland. So what's plan b. And since the nfl gave us and the chargers the option but they get the first choice wants. The chargers took it then. Mark davis had to figure out what he was going to do and vegas became. You know a natural place to go. And it's i think it's turned out so far to be a great success. But the chargers traditionally george doesn't matter where they play doesn't matter who their coaches doesn't matter who the quarterback is doesn't matter who the refereeing crew is the chargers. Find ways to lose. So you can tell me all year long about this roster and this young quarterback and this young kid coach who had the number one defense for the rams. And i'm going to tell you that's fine. It all looks good on paper. Just wait until they go out and play. They will find ways to lose games. They always have no matter. Who the coaches with the quarterback is it really does stink man no matter who it is and and it sucks. I mean i don't know if brennan's good coach or not. I guess we'll have to find out but i mean we know. Justin herbert is good but the penalties like. Oh my god watching. That game was so frustrating. Watching that for them. Yeah and i suppose if you were a cowboys fan. You weren't so frustrated as you looked at dak prescott and you said wow what a performance by dak not that it was so spectacular. Twenty-three of twenty seven two hundred and thirty seven yards so the stats look pretty nice. No touchdown passes one interception but the running game of the cowboys and it really wasn't zeke. Elliott who had sixteen carries for seventy one yards. It was tony pollard. Thirteen carries george for one hundred nine yards and a touchdown averaging eight point four yards per carry. Give that man the ball. Yeah that guy was insane for sure. But yeah i i am. The chargers are one of these teams. That proverbially we feel like they're supposed to be good and then they never ended up being good right. That is how it has always been. I mean always has been now you now. There were a lot of celebrities there though to watch the cowboys. I presume yes yes. Make that clear because because again if you're the ownership of the chargers and going look at us we move from little san diego. We're now hollywood. Lebron james and magic johnson or tweeting from our game. No no no no no. That's not true. Lebron james and magic. Johnson were tweeting yesterday from the cowboy game. That was being played in la. Not the charger game hosting the cowboys. Because i'll tell you right now that if the cincinnati bengals were in town. I don't think lebron james magic johnson or the game if the cincinnati bengals are in town. I don't know that conor mcgregor and post malone are hanging out with jerry jones vocals. Jerry wouldn't be there because he doesn't own the bengals but my point is that the celebrities showed up yesterday because the cowboys were in town..

"And somehow come away with a win over ben roethlisberger and the pittsburgh steelers look. Steelers had an injury along the way their best defensive. End watt went out of this game but excuses. Forget about injuries. Excuses to the raiders had their own injuries to the especially on their own line. I don't know that there was a better win. And maybe a more unexpected win this past weekend. Then the raiders over the steelers. I would make the case. That the raiders. Have the best of like if there was a team to win a team that i felt. I most impressed by. It's the raiders because it's unexpected considering their schedule being the ravens and the steelers in games one into right and by the way. Let's just let's talk about it from a little bit different perspective. Which is the raiders or to know. The broncos are to know the chiefs lose last night to the ravens. The same team that the raiders. Beat in week one so think about that baltimore. I dunno if everybody was watching football. What a game. What a win. What a gutsy call at the end to go forward on fourth down you give. Patrick mahomes the ball back with a minute. You're toast but you're right. I mean looking around the league. Tampa bay's to an expected that carolina's to know probably most people didn't san francisco and the rams are both to and and the cardinals as well. But the raiders at to ano is probably the biggest shock of the first two weeks of the season given who they played where they played when they played the raiders. You ask the question. Are they for real george. It's two weeks into the season. I'm not sure yet. If i'm being totally transparent through this i'm not sure. If the raiders are real. I do know this. They've got to extremely impressive. Wins in the first. Two weeks of the season yeah. I'm really really impressed by them. I didn't think i was going. I didn't know what to think to be honest with you. I i expected to to be frank with you. After their first two games. And i thought they'd be around eighty nine or ninety eight. But the you know i know it's early. They look great man. Well the results look good. And by the way they're derek carr by the way looks like the two thousand sixteen. Derek carr and you and i talked about it. We when keyshawn said the thing about. He's one of the elite quarterbacks you come on key like what are you doing taking a shot at gruden here and and and he seems to be right through two games. Well yeah. I mean again let. Let's start from the beginning. A win against the ravens thirty three to twenty twenty-seven unexpected but the energy of the home crowd and the first game of the crowd. Okay you could kind of by that. The second game on the road at pittsburgh last week the conversation was this well. Do you think the raider fans are gonna take over heinz field and the steelers players cam hayward in particular the defensive lineman was like let me explain some people. See the raiders. Can go to san diego and take over the charger fan base. But the raiders can't come here to pittsburgh and take over doesn't happen here we're the steelers we go places and take over. Nobody comes here and takes over. George when you look at the raiders scheduled now to know they play against the dolphins at home this weekend to got hurt this past weekend rib injuries. Who knows who the they're starting quarterback will be for miami. Then the raiders. Come home the raiders. Come to l. a. to so-fi stadium to play in the house that stand built. But maybe you might call it the house jerry built. Did you happen to see george. Any of what happened yesterday between the cowboys and the chargers i did yes. I watched all the games. Yesterday cowboy fans took over so-fi stadium and reports from inside the stadium. Was that a shock though. Not a shock at all not not. But here's what i'm getting at. The raiders are to know their home against the dolphins. Who now have an injured quarterback who just got blasted this past weekend by buffalo. And then they're going to go to l. a. And i say to. I should say come home and take on the chargers and it will be ninety nine percent raider fans and all of a sudden the raiders could find themselves at foreign. Oh to go home against the bears. Could you imagine the raiders. Start off five and know how exciting that would be. It would be incredible. I mean i think people here would lose their mind. There's a ton of raider fans here. Well i'll say this. The win against baltimore was great. Because you're at home and it's the first night with fans blah blah blah. But the to go on the road in pittsburgh on a natural grass field. And if you're hearing me and you're going what was that mean. They play on turf. They play indoors. That's what their home is when you go east and you find yourself playing on on natural grass. It's a different deal. Different shoes different footing. You may think. I'm out of my mind i'm telling you. It is a factor. That's what home field is for the steelers to go there and win that game the way they did it convincingly probably the most impressive win of the weekend and there were a lot of great games this weekend. Yeah i agree. I'm with you. I think that they looked really damn good. And here's the thing. I'm going to say right now. Nice and loud so all the raider fans can hear it because they get all been out of shape. Sometimes you.

"Will you guys up in here to phrase and football men quarterback and receiver seeing things the same way or on the doll voice on the same page and i think that those two guys showing that that quickly this year. They're going to be the best combo in the nfl when it comes to quarterback and wide receiver the heat from that. Take something else so give me out this. I was impressed by the offensive line. And that was the big question for me coming into this game all season we've been talking about. Did they fix it additions. In the draft and free agency and this of course the ultimate test is washington and they passed. It wasn't perfect but he was pressure but he was just justin. Her was pressured but he's only pressured on sixteen percent of drawbacks fourth-best in the nfl. Half where they were last year and washing blitzer fairmount which actually surprised me. Two tons third down a ton of downs. I thought washington would say. Hey we are better than your offensive line. Our front four. We know how deadly they are. We can get pressure but they actually brought them. He and the chargers held up. Well the roomy sean slater picked right. Lombardi did a good job to. He moved just not not much. He just slid a little bit away from chase at times like it was listed. This this team is close. Yeah people out there. That might have doubted just in a little bit coming out of college. I i was actually in that category. His four hundred twenty seven completions in his first sixteen starts are the most in nfl history. So there's a lot more to. He has got an arm. That you just should not be able to make some throws on. And now joe lombardi's using now and like the saints have used michael thomas right and key now is probably a little bit more savvy. As runner cook has been a tremendous pitcher. Mike williams is dominant. So you got an offensive line that you talked about that is significantly better pieces on the outside guy talented spectacular. We get to the nfc west. We've got to take a little commercial break for that so still to come. We're talking about nfl. They're all week one who's gonna come out on top of this insanely competitive division. Who tested positive amongst seven or eight coaches who tested positive now. We know that. That player is michael thomas so it doesn't really affect of course he's on the pup list as well let's get to a little more information here on. Nfl life we all agree here that the nfc west is the best division volley for now which was further proof. One in which team in that division stood out to you. The los angeles rams. I think that's only. They realized men my offense objective to be credibly exposed to both. Because we've got some speed on the outside but at the plate baller i know at attack. I just need a quarterback that when i opened it up you gotta hit exactly what not you. Stafford brings to this offense. Also the element. That can be something when it's not there though. The rams offense got a chance to be as explosive as anybody in the nfl. San francisco obviously came out. Put points on the boy scouts and hand with this offense using jimmy g. and trae lands. But you gotta finish games man. Okay not the detroit lions to do that and make self-inflicted wounds that they had dropped his game. We are talking about this division. Don't do this in san francisco. You will get ran out of the state. Five seattle was impressive to me on both sides of the ball on offense like they looked around the rest of the division said. Yeah we'd like some of that shanahan stuff. They hired chain waldron little dressing on office on defense. Don't sleep on this defensive line. They are sneaky deep and they showed it the colts a real-life pass rush and seattle guys. I saw look. I'm marie if you were one of those people that thought colin murray should've got the mvp the first week of last season at the san francisco. You're definitely giving it to him. Now listen to this. Titans office deficit lie was trying to chase him around like chasing junior junior. Kelly called chop it was nothing. Not do he made every single rope needed to make he also played from the plot and he made quick reads accurate throws when he got outside the pocket. There was nothing that you could do with him. And get into the ground. Calamari bequeathed leeann. You know if you think about the cardinals in general right. Cuyler murray's electric performance. Also you had chandler jones five sacks on the other side of the ball. They look like a team. We'll go bam within that. We're gonna all. We pay channel joey but they should already been paid him. But after that. Steve khan will pay him. Dana white won't pay his brother ain't got no money and its own household dan. What impressing most of the cardinals. Well first of all collar while he had splash plays. It wasn't the best performance for me when it came to that. I thought him as kind of put his foot in the ground and making i mean. This is certainly splash play. This is not that splash. Plays absolutely spectacular. But there's a handful of times when he puts his foot in the ground and get the ball on on time and the big thing for me in comparison to last year was was gonna continue. Put quitting the ground and drive the at a fading back and make some of those throws when they're not necessary and that was the big thing is there was four or five times through men one-two-three foldout and he drove. The football are you. Are you like your homeboy. is playing in los angeles. Now in janin's it you're gonna come on here cuyler cuyler cuyler about the rams. Don't worry how can you bring the nfc west if you had to rank them. Tell riyadh over one k. The rams number one. And i know i know all the people here going to be like. Oh it's such a division and didn't mean is gonna come on well. Seattle has russell wilson. And did you just juicy was outbid at the gal ring body care about none of that so mcvay went out and he made a decision he said. I know i'm the man. I know defensively that we can stop whoever we need. I just need to do who could do what i need him to do. On the football field and he went out and got matthew stafford.

He is incorrect. Stretch horizontally and vertically incredible for the smith touchdown. Listen this is going to be a dynamic duo and it is really predicated on serianni. And i got to give him a lot of credit about how he's getting these guys open. But everybody's talking about devante smith and him not being able to get off the threats he's little and all of that you can't touch him and when you can't touch him and he get on your level he's going to run. Patchy jalen hurts. Got him one it. By the way that touchdown was right where he scored the game winning national champions europe. That's pretty cool for more on jalen hurts. Let's go to dan. They're talking about the alabama connection but it could be more about his time in oklahoma right. Yeah i think the philadelphia eagles run game on sunday. Looked a lot like the oklahoma run game from two years ago with jalen hurts. It's not only zone. Reads and rpo's what they did is put them both together in one and attacked the different defenders. Now it's simple. Math jalen hurts two three up top for his offense and the defense is gonna match with two guys got three. You've got to now. This is a very simple concept. We'll see this in high school. These guys go block you guys go block and this is going to have the bubble. Now they're going to unblock this backside. Defensive jalen hurts doesn't even need to read him because he's got that three over to he gets the opportunity to just kick out that bubble. This is a catch throat now. If the defense had walked guy down here because the offensive line is going exactly to their jalen would just read that defender. He doesn't have to because the numbers advantage. You're gonna kick out there. That's a zone read in appeal in the same play easy. I down now the second thing. How can we gain a little bit of a numbers advantage if we want to run a different version of our zone read. Well our our bego whiteside you gotta block that drop down corn and we're gonna pull this back size. Backside tight end as lead blocker. Now jalen hurts. Our offensive line is going to go to the front sight deep pennsylvania. You read that linebacker. Okay as you give that hand off. If that linebacker widens give that ball up inside the mouth centers and if he steps down watch him come. All the way around jalen hurts. You're gonna get to lead zone. Read there it is that linebacker's sits down inside your your shut down your sit down. And now i got a lead blocker. We've been at the perimeter another zone read for this offense. You're gonna watch jason kelsey as the center right here. Pull around and blocked at linebacker. He's actually gonna fold back with the sweet feet. It blocked that linebacker down block by the guard. The routes frontside are seem route and he seemed wrote. This is again an rpo built in with the zone. Reed jalen hurts. You read that linebacker. It's against simple. If he widens. Let's watch what it does when you have an athletic quarterback they could do that looking. Linebacker are look at him running that way. He's like oh what about do jalen hurts staring at like say but you are completely wrong. Look at this space right now. In the run game mouse. Sanders is eight yards of space before anyone's even remotely close to him and it's an easy seven yard gain on second and ten so jalen hurts two years ago in oklahoma when it comes to zone own reading. Rpo combinations second most yardage third-most use yesterday sunday. Or excuse me sunday. Thirteen times for ninety three yards both led the league and usage in yards the philadelphia. Eagles look a lot like oklahoma. That performance has sparked a lot of hope in the eagles seasons shakeups in the nfc west. Great stuff dan. According our entering week one the cowboys had the best chance to win the division by the washington football team laughter week line the eagles more than doubled their chances the only winner in the division so man one week and look what happened but rc. Specifically about jalen hurts. What did you take away from his performance. So many people doubted him. So people say even ito's fans and stuff saying he's not going to be able to do it and then you saw the most competent quarterback play the philadelphia. Eagles have had in two years. Maybe three when you look at the total control. That jalen hurts head over this offense best. The reason he's there hundred the other problem i have. And that's that's all you've ever seen from jalen hurts. What he's the quarterback at alabama. Everyone in that locker room followed him and he always did the things that he needed to do for his team. The win football games. It was the same exact thing at oklahoma. And now we see it week one. And i know everybody's gonna say oh. Land falcons the dirty birds or more sad than they are dirty. But i'm gonna tell you this. Everybody in that locker room gets paid money. Professional football and jalen hurts. Was the best player on the field this weekend. And you heard what. Dan said about nick serianni and that is true. If that continues we could see a lot of success for this young quarter. Dan's like lurking in the shadows of their. But he's gonna pop out and start singing and so forth following. I was impressed by hurts. I was really impressed by nick. Serianni as well two things jumped out to me in this game. He went for on fourth down twice convert. Either of them. But i went back and watched this morning. Were both coup plays on the first one. hurts bailed on a pocket he had the tight end on the second one. It was gay. Well ron little bit backwardness in the handoff. But he had it if he had wanted it was at the atlanta twenty. The other thing that i'm pressing the end of half the two minute drill time outs. He had managed the game correctly. They go down and score at lanta has the illegal formation. He got the two point play ready miles sanders valley. And here's what i love about that. It's not even about the model everyone's saying oh you're a nerd. You always like it when they go for it. I like it that he's aggressive and confident and he knows what kind of team has a team with a dominant offensive line and dominant run game and that as a team that should be going for it and should be going to think about next year on his press conference and how much flak for his lack of confidence. That is not what i saw from the head coach. In this game he confident. Yeah we all like it when they go for it. I don't even care what they help. When you think about this division markets we talked about what fbi's looking at our week one.

The granddaughter of the beloved coach entered the fray. She expressed the families quote deep conviction that using native american imagery along with the name. Readers perpetuates racial stereotypes. That should no longer be used anywhere but particularly not in an educational setting she disavowed. The monica raiders. That quote perpetuates a negative stereotype. That simply is no longer acceptable. The school board voted nine to zero to remove all the native imagery in eight to one to stop using the raider name and then the students voted and radnor high teens will henceforth be called the raptors congratulations to the school board. The community and the students have radnor high go raptors. The civil liberties really is made possible by the american civil liberties union because freedom can't defend itself..

"In the door the seasonally. What what's happening with the with the texans. What does this mean for watson longtime. He's going to have to sit out the season or my son is going some returned midway through even if the civil cases are resolved. How do you see the watson situation playing out. And the texans dead and buried on. I'm the texans almost the situations me. They're going to be dread. Fold the worst year in the league. Most likely it. It's not even a real professional. Looks like an xfl team. And that's even with shawn watson. A lot of this comes down to the head office. You know they need to send a playbook to the teams that has the five six different strands that run off this thing which is really on. The commissioner's exempt list triggers it. What does and it's such a unique situation that we find ourselves and that it's incumbent on the lead to deliver a playbook that says that this is for this situation are not having the the slippery slopes in the same precedence like this is a one off situation we've never had before a generational. Athlete is accused on this level whereas this volume of accuses. You have to wait till every single allegation is cleared and that could be more allegations. That could not be. They all go together. They could go one by one and could take a long long long time to get through as you said and criminal so i imagine he goes in the commission's exempt lesson. It takes a long time to clear all of this. I haven't said it's like playing football this season then. I'll be really really surprised unless there was a a situation whereas already been discussing Some kind of settlement with all of the accusers. Right now but that doesn't mean they will not be future accuses. Roy back cases is settled. You might get an accuser and week. Four five can you. Can you accept that. As the broncos trading to three draft picks just accept morally. You don't want to be put in that situation where now you're on the ticker of every news company in the world the place for you now so and i think the that situation is unfair. Frankly to any of these organizations in. And that's why the commission has to step up and say the i'm taking into my hands the i'm taking him out of football until i've decided that it's been cleared for things still hoping we're gonna get out of here before we do though. The producer along tree produce knows you can not sell like a video roll out without the destination fair relationship. Stefan gilmore them. I think i think ally either of the two teams you've seen. Jalen ramsey tried to get him. That would be the most. The league image brandon staley wanting everyone. Those coverages really unique. And it's like well we just one side the building then we zone the rest that that is what stefan gilmore is built for. That's what they're doing you whether you're really crazy. What they call comb covert is. Which is the defensive about the reduction. When you read everything that is stefan gilmore bag. You get him to one of those teams. They run a let funky stuff a nice way. He would go back to being one of the premier conan's in the league. Love that so yeah either either. Just either landing spot that you've peaked. "Get twenty hours a week with the place. An off that time is with the strength and conditioning stuff. Mayes nine volt. Not you know. He was the plan together. Says bring me a seven foot tall tree. Light left tackle. He's involved in not much of it but they're all full going on. And so you know you go into into the nfl and he's going to be how come on still hair eight o'clock at night a gigantic different. That's why guys. They often get caught being skiing. As you all about to lou holtz with you have to leave the nfl midway the first thing like this is way too much football. You guys are too good at this. I not do. This highlight to go into homes. Shake his hand and walk out with the play recruit. That's what i'm good at. That is the giant steve. Spurrier is another one chip. Sally off saving was case of he might have bounced back but as soon as loud alabama. And why would you leave. Is that i think i think saving would be fine. Any idea like some reason coach every system run in the nfl between two thousand and five and twenty sixty base seattle cova. Three lives match coverage. Nick saban's baby. He both not in cleveland. Full bill belichick compels bell bill. Belichick did fine. The seattle seahawks are very good running coverage. I think all right figured out eventually and at least made a couple of playoff appearances. But i apologize. Yes that just went when you are yet and throwaway line. But i'm with you. a lot of. It is a huge part of recruitment convincing those parents. This is the place for your boy in shaking hands pressing palms kissing babies all that kind of stuff and of course none of that is relevant in the nfl. Do you think there is a challenge for college coaches even of the credibility and stature of coming in with the vets or at least with the vet seems to get appropriate now when you millionaire. Nfl for two years but with those that have been around the block a few times serious players so they could be looking at him and slightly suspicious as opposed to say gruden rockin up or You know mcvay broken up. Who is a young gun but within minutes. You're like okay. I get it. What is the what you get to win over. T think i think so. Take any any any new head. Coach has to. Of course do degree. I i think so. I think he also comes with baggage is just being a maya and that's going to be well understood in the room is populated the staff with everyone from college which is curious thing. It's almost like if i get. What on side and we kind of been rally every morning. Then people will just buying organically which could happen younger at the same thing you brought all this whole all boys back within the reality people did buy in wherever they were winning games on the start you know that the play is lifted and that could work bananas. I said this is a thing of the work. I don't think people realize and the nfl the difference in the volume of worked what you have to do in college. It's just so much more. It could college coaches monal. I'm about having to shake the hands and go to the club but that is kind of fun. St when you urban mind you're winning national titles in your and you get paid seven million dollars a year to have to sit in your room and watch of coverage is from the cleveland browns on and you cue in four years of them. You know. it's really hot work. It's no fun you after a door and not say of my adult football. I'm sure he does. But aides just such another level and the thing to your point about the places they find out really fast because they're in every watching boundaries coverages on third and the good ones are zanga. A bunch those place but they'll have enough you will be able to Pollute the place with agnes. If they can figure out really fast these guys up to the level we have not even tactical advantage on the field but just be at the same level playing field because all those of the coaching staff will be doing this stuff. And that's what he's going to have to prove right away and you know. I'll be flawed if he underworld for anything like that. That has been an issue of college coach in the past i think. Yeah the isn't that. Kind of schematic level. He he brought spread option football to modern college football at the high level from utah at the florida to ohio state. He's constantly innovated and even something. Like the tribes. That's the situation. I think what you see him. Saying using percy harbin. I didn't draft ms running back. He's personally. I think that will at the site the locker room. It's like oh cool. That's something different than the lafontaine running backs in the first round. We designed often. I think that kind of thing cow all into cook by the way by something himself by trying to sell a credible jersey. that'd be sold as well varies a give me a percentage chance of tim. Tebow being on the jags roster week nine next season we nine great unbelievable week by you. Mikey fantastic i think. Fifteen percent fifty. Not underestimate the ego of a of a minor ready. Thinks he's the best football coach of ever lived and he's won awful lot of stuff everywhere i i can still he. He can still do. It is what is going to be. I can still get there. Yeah and if nothing else knows my message. The verbiage verbiage will be completely different for all these plays. You can least tell travel you know when we call read. It means that me you know he will be thinking like that. I think i wrote the story a while back when tiba went to the patriots and it was completely misunderstood situation. If you remember back there in that. Tom brady that garoppolo along comes. And it's like why is bill bell kicking the tires on tim. Tebow embellishing had commissioned a giant study in the off season to look at. What are we missing. Why is the way. We're not scoring points. Tell me i'll just go more points. And the study gave him back. Two point conversions. No one in this league runs two point conversions high enough level and he went back and said well who is the best one convergence and they brought him all the yardage plays in the league running backs. Everyone they said tim. Tebow is the three best short yardage people in all football. He just bigger than everyone else. A one on one in the whole he'll beat someone they go into tears at great. We'll try it you know we'll give it a go. They bring him in. He cannot catch the ball. He muffed snaps. It's a complete disaster. They never even unleashed it in the preseason. If you remember she played very well. Enough philadelphia game playing quotes about but the plan was never to have played. Gb it was a two-point specialist in the same way. We had a kicking specialist. She's those one points and three points. Tim will be two point guy and we'll try and then they all got everyone said well. Why are we taking tom. Brady off the field. Two point conversion the greatest avenue tiba yukon. Catch the ball. So i i think that is what the is looking at. The they're going to listen to tight. You know maybe he does some quarterback so fallen. I think they want a short yardage bulldozer. A two point conversion. I think he thinks minor little victories having travis at as a slot receiver arrived in a running having a two point specialists in a league. That doesn't have a two-point specialists right now. Safe may become houston josh allen. I think that's what he thinks. And if you're gonna commit to that you kind of have to keep on the roster for any semblance of credibility with the locker room is fascinating the the patriots story. I wasn't aware of that was the rationale for bringing man. I knew that there was talk of using him in trick play situations yard and but that did you know that focused and it's something that customer. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more roster spot suppression certain. If you bill. Bennett jack they are but that is an interesting idea. We sort of. I guess a bit inadvertently with the dolphins easing a closure sorts. As well i don. I do wonder whether we'll see more of that. Gradually roster spots opened up for very specific situations beyond as you said kick her along. Snap stuff that you know is going to be a fundamental okay. Let's end on to superstar quarterbacks. You've had challenging off seasons for together. Different reasons aaron rodgers. And i recall you about rogge's this time. Now see if other back a year or so ago right And a lot. That piece is bag on the money right now..

"I mean he from a kind of still standpoint. the the way he plays is very similar to josh. Jacobs the raiders. Like that mold of back somebody that can. They can bet big. That's powerful of that. Has some speed aching. Catch a pass out of the backfield. And that's what the monte booker did born and twenty rushing yards last year as the backup running back spelling jacobs four point five yards per carry very very impressive in that department considering what he was asked to do. And then seventeen receptions as well so he provided Amount of back that they wanted to provide a spell. Josh jacobs said he he didn't even make a million dollars last year having Round nine hundred thousand. So i would imagine he would be do a little bit of a race but i don't think it will cost. I don't think they have to break the bank to bring him back and given that like you said he's already familiar with the system. He's already been ingratiated within an locker room and has a role defined role If there's mutual interest there. I would expect him to be back for surrey. Stolen we twenty eight twenty nine here in may so presumably plenty of football. I level football left for him. It's not like he's had a big workload throughout the course of his career with three hundred and eighty two carries so i think there still is a lot of value. Bring somebody back like the demonte broker a lot of teams these days. Deploy that kind of strategy see it all over the place. There's not just any particular running back anymore. It's very rare that you have a team that has just one guy that carries the full workload. So i like the idea of being able to have those kinds of spells. Josh jacobs for the raiders. Because i think over the long term plan when you wanna keep a guy like jacobs that definitely is Something that can help. It's advantageous to him and his chevy running back also in same keeping different Backfield's with mixed up different types of running back some players. They have allocated goals fullback. But he's definitely a integral part of this offense. I'd say from blocking to being somebody who can get through on that goldline punch. What do you think about gold and how this year. The raiders might look to even expand his role. Yeah i mean he's somebody. I think that's been a reliable reliable in that role for the raiders. He had he caught. Twelve passes this past year of one hundred ten yards double what he calls rookie in two thousand nineteen so not a crazy amount of production but he caught a touchdown in each season and he is valuable as a blocker and doing different things. Look at the way the games play now. Heidi obviously most teams. Don't traditionally us a fullback but it gives like you said it gives you a chance to your offense a chance to have a little bit more variety. Do some more things to be a little bit more to. He can he. Can he can. Leak out and pass patterns. You can be a lead blocker. He could stand in there. Pass along twenty two percent of the snaps the offensive snaps twenty twenty twenty percent last year and he's a really really crucial player on his special teams. He played half their special teams snaps. So he's somebody that i think is valuable just kind of a role as a football player. Not necessarily in the backfield. I don't think that's where most of his value is. I think it's all the things you can do for you in all the phases of the game so He's definitely somebody. I the raiders like adding on. Its amy's showcases. Toughness planned through some injuries this year. And and it's a kind of guy kind of culture. Got somebody that that you want in your locker room. You want your backfield..

"Twenty one at the raiders are are going to keep him and he's due to make ten point six million dollars. That is his base salary for cap. Hit just above that ten point seven million dollars and they already paid off his guarantees. We know they brought him on in twenty twenty as the highest paid backup quarterback in the nfl of kind of rebuilding project after sustained some injuries and lost his starting spot in tennessee now he proved during that one game he played was only a game against the chargers this past season but he came off the bench and was very impressive. In relief of derek carr injured his neck game up showcasing mobility a throw. The ball downfield being accurate. Making good. Save for the one interception really playing is as well as you would expect or as well as people could have hoped giving the situation. He was coming off the bench to having not played for for more than a year. I say all that to say. I would be surprised if the raiders. Bring him back at that at that salary at that point regimented nathan peterman because it feels like with bring him back the word they've spent with him he's been on the roster a couple years now really feels like they've tried to develop him into a backup kind of quarterback in somebody. You know not just a little cheaper significantly cheaper than marcus more yards so it gives them. Maybe there's another team in that mold of indianapolis of a chicago of a washington football team. Who can't find who doesn't find their long-term answer quarterback this off season and saw they like from our iota. Maybe they go out there and trade for him whether it's a future draft pick or player. Whatever or if that doesn't happen if there's not a market that materialized for marcus myo cup eight with him. He becomes a free agent and they walk away without having to pay any of that guaranteed money. That was taking care of a twenty twenty so the peterman moved to me. Heidi definitely feels like he's going to become the backup or that. He solidifies his role as a backup. Quarterback doesn't Sense given the needs. The raiders have across the the other side of the ball on defense and even on the offense a little bit trampled through the offensive line and round out. The receiving core doesn't make sense to pay marcus. Mariota that kind of money to not so last year when we looked at it about this time of year we were talking about. Maybe mariota is going to challenge car and car could be you know. Absurd to his. I starting spot there. But that wasn't the case it turned into more of a. We're going to try to look and let him heal with marietta and let them develop and learn the system. Do you think though that other teams have seen enough in the about three quarters of work that they were able to see. Mariota put in with the raiders. Think other teams saw enough for the raiders to be able to actually shop him as backup or make some sort of trade with somebody else. Not necessarily i think it's one of those things where push comes to shove a. We're kind of at the end of that. Free agency period was after the draft is still teams. That don't have solidified their quarterback solidified. Then maybe they go out there and make a move. But i don't think he's the kind of player right now at this at least at this point in time we know about the talent. Let's not forget. He was number two overall pick and he has had some success in the league..

"Feel like there's just more there's more you know it's we're we're we're going to get the super bowl is about to happen right and then after that. We're not going to have much. You know people talking. There's not be as much to talk about right but this is the kind of stuff that starts to happen. names like this get dropped and potential ideas and trades and people get excited about. I looked around at the other In a raiders People do the guys covering the raiders analysts the journalist the reporters and i haven't really seen anything else any comments about this so i'm just going to take it with a grain of salt for now. You know not that he's wrong. that seems called. i'm sure they have. I'm absolutely sure teams. that's not. That's not a wild idea at all but to think that you know this is like a really high likely i believe. He said i don't know if he said in the tweet or another following tweet or if it was someone is article but i i i believe that. He also mentioned that. He doesn't think it's likely target shirt traded again. That's just the smart way to look at this. The likelihood of car gantry listens raptors up here the likelihood that cargo straight from the raiders. Not high not high at all the likelihood that teams are calling the raiders high. That's what that's what good managers do. That's their job. So that's very high of a chance the chance that if the raiders traded derek carr they would go through the shawn watson high obviously but the chance that they even get to that opportunity of going after the son watson. I don't think it's high because they're not gonna turn derek carr so Unless again like i said unless they get offer their blown away with a totally get it. But they're not shopping them. Just not the raiders. Car the raiders like car. You know many raider fans will acknowledge. That car isn't necessarily the issue again. This is not to say that. There's not bitter quarterbacks. This is not to say that cars top five quarterback or some elite level quarterback. He might not be. He might not be that the historic really good last year. But the raiders. Having one they did have a woman. Gar when the raiders win with. Derek carr everyone changes tuna derek carr outside outside of the raider fans. Even fans dig frustrated. Obviously i get frustrated. I see card you think. Sometimes i'm like man you know but i don't ever say car is the single reason. Why the raiders can't win. I don't look at it though. I don't look at cars. The reason the thing holding him back airing. The defense is atrocious. They have some playmakers on defense of young guys that i'm sure they're looking to make major steps major leaps and they get better and better a new defensive staff and town which hopefully can simplify things a little bit. Make things a little better and you know just over well overall perform well. Hopefully the draft. Will you know in fuses team or more more youth talented defensive players and you know some offense of guys but overall. Don't think the raiders mcginn. I know bias. I understand this. But i don't think. The raiders are far from being applied team. I think we've seen that last year. Obviously they have a a monster in their own division that stands in front of them that makes it makes it very impossible. You know it makes it almost impossible. It feels like sometimes. But yeah i mean. Car is not the problem and the raiders are not actively shopping him. This is simply if it's true. Teams are calling does not crazy at all nothing crazy about and we're gonna continue to see shawn watson tied to every team they could possibly do because it's an awesome looking headline. Let's be honest. let's be honest. I'm sure every single team outside of a team. But a few quarterbacks out there have written articles have posted articles and content about shawn watson in their team. It looks good. Everyone wants to shawn watson. he's fucking good. If a ball so of course people are excited. They like the topic is fun. I'm going to be decided excited about this. On wherever he goes because some people when he would come into the league. He said he couldn't play football and he couldn't throw the football and all kinds of ridiculous metrics. They were making up about him. He's a good player. he's really really really really really really good. And he's gonna make some team really happy you know whether it's whether the texans pull off some some voodoo and keep them some some magic against him on what they got on them but if they keep awesome good for them but if not he's gonna make a team happy. There's no other way to put it. There's no other way to put it and when it comes to the price to pay for him is really i mean. He's a young elite quarterback. Whatever your team goes up form is basically worth it you know as long as your team is close somewhat. Close competitive you know. Be the champion and a playoff team. It's worth it but it does trip me out. When i see trades like darren waller josh jacobs. Derek carr for fourteen first round picks. Relax on does sound realistic here. You our realistic. And then say that you couldn't get a first round draft pick or potentially to schrafft's for derek carr. That's crazy that's crazy i promise. You the raiders would get a first round draft pick for derek Potentially multiple multiple graphics. They would get it. He is not a bad quarterback and teams. Don't look at him as a quarterback so he would get that. I really believe that That's not a question to me. So what we'll see. If any new news comes out about the other breaking news any other tweets or anything or anyone else takes a little further but for now. That's my opinion on it. That's how i feel about it. I'm curious your thoughts. I'm curious what you think is going to transpire. I'm really curious where you know how curious what you think about how this is all watch the situations at take because this thing commuter drag on a really long or it could end quick and all this controversy about what teams to stop. I don't mind it either way. It's fun to kind of the idea of it but Yeah dirk are starting next. Season will be raiders quarterback unless something crazy offer and she says what it is man and any team if they didn't have starting quarterback that they were comfortable with or that they really believed in. Should we pursue john watson facts absolutely facts. That's it guys. I'll catch you tomorrow as always be kind. Be great ki gosh..
