"Three of the head coaching vacancies have been filled. The Jets get a passionate, good looking if I might add. Um, ready to be a head coach. Potential, very good leader in Robert's Allah, and it's impossible for anybody. I don't care who it is on TV or hear on radio to talk about what they think is gonna happen or what they know about Robert's, although we don't know I mean the first time head coach on paper, though it's a tremendous higher and each coaching situation. Is completely different. There are certain coaches who I believe would be better. In one scenario versus another certain coaches who were better program builders, certain coaches were better. Or more ready made to go take over. 18 Med is ready to win now and in this case, especially when you factor in which coach New coaches Following in this case, it is a perfect fit for the Jets. They get a guy in Sala, who's worked his way up, and it's not just based off of What he did with the Niners defense, although that was impressive because of the unique circumstances this year, with all the injuries look, he's had success before right getting to the Super Bowl, all the injuries this year. And still getting that Niners team to play hard. He's a passionate, fiery guy. Who the players love. That is the complete opposite of Adam Gaze the complete opposite. He's not a quarterback whisper or some kind of guru or anything like that. He's a guy who you hope can be a good head coach. I think he is his personality matches. Joe Douglas. I think they I don't think that Douglas would have hired him. Had it didn't. But you could even tell from afar that they're both. Kind of old school part knows passionate, rugged, tough football guys. That's what the Jets need enough of the Jets being pushed around. They need some of that attitude. You know, Carton and Roberts were joking earlier about, you know, my coach can kick your coaches rear end. Well, there is something to that, especially from a fan's perspective. Feeling confident, comfortable about your guy was not going to be bullied on the sideline and other Jeff van loved that. Would Rex Ryan and his big mouth all those years? But it's different here. What solid there are some similar similarities to Rex Ryan, that passion And that fiery personality, But you hope that solid could be a more well balanced coach for the Jets. We will see time will tell, But I think it's ah, It's an exciting higher. For the fan base and a well deserved exciting higher. You know, there is an entertainment value to it as well. And had they hired somebody that the jet band never heard of, or no. The guy with zero personality to tougher sell. I think Sala is an easy sell for New York and in easy sell for a you know, an extremely passionate Jets fan base. And an easy sell coming off of Adam Gaze. Hell, I think I would have been an easy sell. Anybody following Adam Gaze would have been easy so but This is this is one that could get the jet fans excited and get the focus off of, you know Trevor Laurence and the negative and you know that they felt missing all out on that number one pick. Speaking of Trevor Laurence. Urban liar, is leaving the broadcast booth and going back to coaching football shocker. You know, I lost all respect for urban liar, and I know that he's got health issues, and that's something that should not be. Taken lightly or overlooked. However, if there are significant enough health issues retire and go do the broadcasting. He retires from Florida. Any coaches what a month later with Ohio State takes his dream job. Then he retires with Ohio State. I'm done this time. I really think I'm done coaching. He goes in a broad broadcasting, and now it's the perfect right. The perfect situation. Was Jacksonville. So urban liar. Good luck there and look, he's gonna get Trevor Laurence will have a topic. Jacksonville has some talent there. He's gonna be working with an owner who may be somewhat hands on. But an owner. Hmm. Is, you know, looking to Make this club as good as it can be. He prioritizes winning on the football field. Now he's just sitting on his hands and his money here. Khan wants to go out there and put a great product together, So I think it is a perfect situation for urban liar. But that doesn't change the way that we feel about him after what went on with Florida and Ohio State, and by the way, it's gonna be a different challenge. You may be able to get travel warrants and you have other top picks. It's a little different than recruiting. And maybe shade Aly recruiting at that. No disputing the quality head coach Urban liar is But there is disputing the commitment that there might be the other vacancy that was filled. The Atlanta Falcons hired Arthur Smith. I mean, all right. Looks good on paper. Great. Hey, he was the offensive coordinator for the Titans. Yea, and they had a balanced attack. You just don't know what these guys and what the Falcons. They should've never fired Mike Smith years ago. The one thing I will say is I like that It is not Dan Quinn. So anybody who they hard Would have been better than Dan Quinn. I hated that higher at the time. I know we took him to the Super Bowl. But glad that the Dan Quinn era is over. I would have liked to have seen Todd Bowles or Raheem Morris get that job. Morris had an opportunity. He didn't get it done during the regular season. That's why he wasn't back. He had a chance to turn things around after they fired, Quit and let Morris take over. He was close, but not close enough. So I told I understand a total change there. Um Todd Bowles interview didn't get it. I think Bulls would have been better five years ago when they were six years ago. Whatever it was when they hired Dan Quinn instead. I think Bulls would have. I think both teams would have been better off. Had Todd Bowles been hired five or six years ago. During that, last time that Atlanta interviewed him, Atlanta was already made team bulls could have gone in there with his philosophies. Which you know kind of similar to Bill Parcells coming from that coaching background, that conservative style. I liked a lot about Todd Bowles. Believe it or not, and I don't think the Jets were the right fit for him. I think Atlanta with the quarterback already in place and already made team, he would have been better there than Dan Quinn. And obviously it would have been a better fit for him in New York was which has turned out to be a disaster, but Bowls did not get that job. Arthur Smith going to be the guy there and again, we'll see. I mean, we all to be opening press conference, which is really the first time we could judge these guys because a lot of times we're not hearing coordinators speak And what the new hires usually being coordinators. You know, we know what urban Meyer is with Sala and Smith. We haven't seen them. At least I haven't seen them fully addressed the media. On. We haven't seen him address to meet his head coach. Nobody has ever been. So we'll say, I remember when Mike Smith and by the way, did an interview for wf com exclusively.

"So that's one thing that i don't like that his name's not being mentioned. Then you got these guys who are out. Well here's another one that you didn't hear much about how about marvin lewis route. I'm gonna pass morganlewis for this. This reason. chris. And i'm not saying that he can't get an dan. He shouldn't be getting interview. I'm not saying that. I did not say i think that's a hard sell when your own seven in the postseason was a lot of problems in cincinnati when he was there a lot of player. I'm just this is like it right. He wouldn't be at the top of my list. I'm not saying i'm top of anybody's list. I'm not saying he can't get interview chris. That's not what i say. He's done better than a lot of guys who are considered candidate. That's all i'm saying. I agree but but he does have some negatives. Can you admit that. And yeah. I mean like you say you don't i i i do think though and i think one of the points you're making hartselle. How do i hit my fan base excited about. Let me give you the example. The lions have one playoff game since nine hundred fifty seven. You can hire. Marvin lewis chris. He's always seven in the playoffs. Like like that. that's just would relay. How could you hire guy. Never won a playoff game for franchise that hasn't okay wealth. Say if you want to say detroit. I'm just saying right now. But he has he could sell it to cincinnati. You know they don't have the resources necessarily to somebody other places half look at him since he left. They made it seven straight years. He turned them around immediately. Never got him over the hump right. You know what i'm saying. But let's see if there's a bill bill o'brien we say the same thing about right. Will he get a shot down the road. No i you works. And here's the iraq. Quick thing quickly. 'cause we gotta break robert solid now. There's some confusion over this because these lebanese most lebanese coach pat license. Yes arab american. Lebanese and i heard today on the radio. They caught him the fourth coach of color in the league. Right now you got mike tomlin of course brian flores ron rivera and now robert solid which i think was a great hire but on the. Us census lebanese is considered white. Is that right with oughta got because they got egyptian under there and all that i have to this vital thing middle eastern people are really like white but under in the us census it does say the twenty eighteen cents is he had white and in lebanese was one of the things they mentioned under white. And you know all the lebanese people. I've known have considered themselves white real and so it's a question. Is he really a coach of color. Or what you know so. But it's to a coach's right now. African americans in thirty two team league that seventy percent black. I don't like it. I don't like it so eighty seven ninety nine on fox. Eight seven seven nine nine sixty three sixty nine also could mentioned by left leverage raheem morris and gerard mayo. Now he's supposedly a candidate in philly so we'll see what happens there and rahmael cornell didn't get any more after he took over. I know that houston finished strong. "Play K NPR. Great Texan. The 21 forces, by the way. How pitiful are the Detroit Lions? The Michigan Legislature passed a resolution saying they should hire Roberts Allah and he still would rather go to the Jets. Damn, man. Wow, that's pretty funny. That that was good. Well, listen, we wish him well. It's big news we knew was coming. We knew it yet. But this is really For the 40 Niners. This is a big, you know, this is the first real turnover Kyle's had to deal with, You know, he's had his coordinators all the way before years. That's right. That's a good call. Yes. So this is like a little significant moment. Now he does have an in house. Guy ready to go, and we've nothing official from the team. But Ian Rappaport, our buddy reports that Damico Ryan's, of course, is a longtime NFL player with the Texans and Eagles, and it was already a popular coach under Salas, the linebacker coach. That he accordion report. He's gonna be the guy. Now I've heard Raheem Morris, of course, has been around for a while and has some history with Kyle. But listen, I'm not in the locker room. I don't know the chalk talk. I'm not T rock. I'm not Tim Ryan, but on paper Everything about Tameka Ryan's makes sense. Yeah, you know, African American minority hire, which is, you know, need much needed in the NFL. Thies, continual re treads of non minority hires, so Give a young guy a chance. He's never had that opportunity. And a guy has been in the building for four years under Solon, who has great chemistry with the players. Yeah, it was. The system knows the atmosphere and knows the building. Yeah, the players right to its Comptel. Nick Bosa. Hago sack the quarterback. Hey, Bosa, come here. He had a couple of words. Hey, Mark, actually, Coast you have if you if you were Waterboy can dig up the Fred Warner When we had Fred Warner on. He did speak about to make a Ryan so Have you guys can take that up before the end of this segment here. Appreciate that if water boys not too busy celebrating D. J. Lo Mayhew's return to the Yankees E. It was important to him. But you were so cute with LeMay. You don't get cute. Why was gonna ask you if you think that you know there's gonna be some pressure on Shanahan this year? Because next season rather because if you know, I mean, there's gonna be the Yeah, right? Yes, I actually jock blocked about that last week. Polish Did you What It's like to hump the jock block, my friend. Yeah, because Because I said, You know, it's funny, you know, four years now that's take a look. Listen, look, you know, and I did that. Mary told you compared him to the other guys hired in the same years and two of them are coaching this weekend. John McVeigh and Sean McDermott shut up with Shawn's in the mix, Right? Sean McVeigh and Sean McDermott and those two guys. There were Kyle isn't You know they're they're in the final eight. Right? We'll call was there last year. He was where we all want to be last year, But he's you know, it's e mean people don't wanna hear excuses in the NFL, but the injuries. You cannot look passing injuries this year or you can't overlook them. Rather, I mean, it was just such a big part of why they couldn't get to where they wanted to be. On. It started right away. But yet at the same time I do I feel like the same way. I think Shanahan's like he's gotta have a good year this year or he's gonna start hearing some noise. I agree, but I feel I ultimately concluded that you asshole, Long time observer fan and beat writer of this squad there in there in a good place as an organization. I totally agree. And I'm not saying I want a new coach. I love Shanahan, and I don't want to go in anywhere and I agree. I think they are in a good place. It's more stable now. Seemingly than it has been, You know, in a long time, like I look at that team, and I'm confident that they're going to be a contender. Next I am too. I am too. Yeah. So that's I mean, maybe I my, my delusional And, you know, maybe the both of us. You're delusional because I think they're gonna be pretty solid too. I mean, there was a time post hardball when they were not contenders, my friend. You know when we were running Chip, Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly $2 some dark days do door even before the Jimmy trade, you know, And Brian Hoyer was a QB and all that, and you know, and I remain like you. You know, understanding. The arguments on the other side. I remain. I endorsed Jimmy G and 2021. I do too. I do, too. I mean, you look at what Shanahan was able to do last year when he had the players on the field that he wanted. And, you know, they went 13 and three speaking of by the way, do you think that maybe Sherman? Ah, follow solid in New York now to be questioning? Yeah, good question. I don't know. We'll rule that one out there, man. Um, he probably tonight. Two guys tweeted their two tweets of notes. Richard Sherman tweeted last night that Jets got a good one clam and he said, like congratulations to solace so Yeah, maybe on then changes for Sherman and Mr Hand telling you to get in there and get a good one. Get a good We got a good one gets. I'll get a good one. By the way, we felt when hand says that it makes me really think about that joy of getting a good slice. Yeah, Get a good one. Yeah, on and the other one was from JJ. What he tweeted out the rap sheet report that Damico Ryan's will be the Niners knew. Coordinator and he was pumped. He's an old teammate. He sent out of exclamation point laden tak tweet, saying that the Niners are doing the right thing, and he's fired up for Jamaica. Ryan so So there you go, man there. You're okay. So, Paul, you ready to hunker down my friend? Yeah, let's hunker dude, let's get into it. So the assignment is this until the end of the Super Bowl here? The Friday football forecast and I've already anticipating next week. I think we should just go head to head. I think next week we both picked the af cnnsi champion. What if we have the same pick so well, then we're in lock step like Laverne and Shirley at the start of the credits. You know what I mean? Because we can't force in the point counterpoint thing that would you know what I mean? Have you guys submit your picks? Toe Waterboy and early so that you know privately? Yeah, it will reveal on air. What? You both of them privately. I like this. Yeah. You don't want everyone copes, Count every pick up your mail in picks and not allow you need all the pics counted and then recount I got I got More of calling.

"Not a lot. Standing by their headlines this morning. Is Andrew Bogus. Mr Bogue's Good Morning D A Good morning again. Jet fans got a little worried when Niners defensive coordinator Robert Saleh left his second review with the club and met with the Eagles later that night, But the Jets got their man last night with cell agreeing in principle to a reported five year deal. He was one of nine men to interview for that job with five other team showing interest. In him. That higher came on the heels of the Jaguars finalizing their marriage with urban Meyer. Scott Linnehan is the apparent frontrunner to be Jacksonville's offensive coordinator, and Meyer has reportedly reached out to Raheem Morris about running his defense and the Falcons have reportedly offered their job, their head coaching jobs and Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. He was supposed to have a second review with the Lions today. Now, some of you might have heard earlier this morning that the Seahawks need a new offensive corded after dumping Brian Schottenheimer and that Russell Wilson wants to be involved in finding the replacement. It's vital. It's pretty critical. Um, you know, super significant that you know, obviously, that You know what part of that process and coach coach And I've definitely talking about John, too, as well. And you know, we've had some super. Uh Long commerce dialogue. Great dialogue about the thought crosses who we want coming idea kind of leader that thought process innovator and all that kind of different stuff that you that you are You all right? So where did this What type of game to see Have diarrhea. This is an hour long. Zoom press conference yesterday. I think they were nine questions, asking that out because he talks and talks and talks and he constantly like resets his thought. Because you need to squeeze in another cool word. It goes from great to fantastic toe. Awesome. A lot of vibes in there. You know what I mean? And at the end, he goes. I hope that answers your question because he just rambled for eight minutes, and he's lost, complete track of where he began. He's crazy. Russell Wilson. Really, He really likes to hear himself talk when? Yeah. When he did the Ted talk for neutrality, thinking that you always have to be unemotional and neutral. You just heard of talk and talk and talk and talk. He really fancies himself as some type of great oratory in and realistically. He says things like diarrhea, poop meme. It'd unlimited words. You know who he must have been, and we've all been in those classrooms. He's the kid with two minutes left on the clock before class lets out. That's gotta ask the 10 minute question. Then that has to be answered. Filibuster filibuster, and you basically had 1 ft. On the desk. You're hanging out to run out the class like I would be. And the next you know you're in a class from production 20 minutes cause he is the meaning was questioned forever. It's a little Kyrie ish. Now, Kyrie is more self destructive. Kyrie is far more unpredictable. Kyrie is really in his own little world. But you know, Kyrie answers a question. Really likes to hear Kyrie speak, and so he just keeps going and going and trying to We've some type of great insight into the world and every one of his answers and Russell Wilson a little bit like it. And once Kyra has done, you're like, what did that even mean? I'm now more confused, and Russell Wilson's a little bit like that. They really like to hear themselves speak. Wilson's farm or Grounded, but I mean, it's that's why would he did the Mr Unlimited thing? It's like Is this a joke? Are you serious? Do you think this is funny? Do you realize how corny it is? He's on his own planet as well. I guess the air is probably on her own planet as well. No, I mean, look, this is Mr Limited and somebody's hung out with both of them. Obviously, CR is we've rubbed our noses. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, some of us playing celebrity soccer games today, some of us on with CR and Russell Wilson. Editors. Princes house right Editor's note I played in immediately. You went to Princes freaking mansion. What do they call that Principal Anyplace, paisley place. I only use the bathroom. You went you to put your phone in a basket, and he did shots of Sierra and Russell Wilson and Justin Timberlake. We won't know. Just might center. No. Justin looked over. There was Amani Toomer and Tiki who were with us. It was you know me. So who's Who event? What are you gonna do? You're walking around, people were making s'mores inside. I still think that was the most amazing part. Well, lights a fire inside. Where? The ceiling for that with a fireplace? Yeah, because his princess wasn't a fire pit. Or was it just a fireplace? No, No, it was a fire pit. Listen, Prince, obviously with the money he had. He has a recording studio that you would think just looks like the study with whatever it is, but it looks like Hammerstein Ballroom like it's an unbelievable mansion, so the ceilings are very high and his people with bonfires making s'mores peanut butter, Small wars. Graham crackers, Smalls. Talk with smaller. There was so many s'mores. I couldn't get enough. How is Russell Wilson S'more? Russell Wilson went plain s'more. I'm serious. That's where we started. We migrate over to the bar. It was you know who never went over by the small table. Typical T o too good to have a s'more. Yeah, Of course he is. He hasn't a carb since 2007 to good. Put a graham cracker and marshmallow to get a t o. I lighten up. Have a good day coming with me to lighten up. That's a good way to put it. Lighten up. I'm a freaking s'more Make a bet with a 10 year old kid already have fun with your dessert. The same night they went to the third eye blind at some bar. Yeah, That's what Graham Cracker marshmallow. The boy's room. It's abortion, Oldman. Hey, folks, Uh oh. There's no more sports news. Oh playoff action this weekend. Aaron Donald this store.

"Was there a number that Raheem Morris had to get to to have a shot at getting this job? No, I called. It wasn't remember. At the press conference, Arthur said 11 0 or something like that. And, you know, joking fashion and it got written and so forth. No, I think that listen, y'all always have to be appreciative of The circumstances somebody's put into and you know what Raheem did was. He went into a situation where we were only five and it did not feel like you know, we were playing real well at all. And that was a big concern for us was just felt like there was a time to make a change. Any girl. He wanted an impacted that we knew that his connection to the players would serve him well, and it has. I think I am a disappointed as anybody in yesterday's outcome on Lee because It's another game. We had a clear chance to win and did not. Um, but I don't think anybody could walk away from yesterday and say our guys didn't play really hard and didn't come prepared. We just did not finish the drill. And so I think with Brahim, you know, he will be a candidate. He deserves to be a candidate. Um, and know that I wouldn't say there's any single bar that is that was set up. I know that you and Arthur when you address the media after the dismissal of Thomas and Dan really kind of deferred to whoever's coming next, when talking about Matt and Julio and their future with the Falcons. How much does having a plan for both or knowing what they want to do with either of those guys factory to who you hire for both GM and head coach positions? Yeah, well, let's say it was another good question. And the answer is it does factor in because that gets to the vision of the football team, you know, And that football team includes a lot of good players. You know, when you look at our team, and you say, you know our top 10 Top 11, you know, eat up a really big portion of our cap because you know a lot of very good football player. Could you have a vision of how those players gonna fit in the future?.

"Heard several weeks ago. They're focusing on the red zone. They're focusing on the red zone. All that focusing has yielded no good results. Thank god thank god. We have young way coups kicker who is having a fantastic season or else we may be seeing games. The falcons are putting up three points. Six points total. It's really quite embarrassing. And i know they're they're asking rahim he's the head coach. It rolls up to him. The wish they'd ask dirk cutter the same question to you know Definitely connection without a doubt like complete. Talk to you guys Those first press conference or the first time ago. Chance to talk in person not in person this year but you know whatever the case may be this year how we talk speak on as i talked about scoring. Is your job on offense getting the ball back as your job on defense. I think that was diverse. Very first things. I was most important for us. And that's definitely part of building a winning culture so you're talking about scoring points are red zone. Woes talked about yesterday. You probably really good defense. We made some plays and they made some better ones a particularly talking about the ones. To calvin the tip toe among sideline. Maybe one or two times there. I'm executions over to come through and get a sack or big. Tom planner red zone. Like the end of the game on the outside and iran's down criticized along situation in the fourth of nine where those things get really tough. I would have to take my hat off to the saints decongested any because they haven't allowed many touchdowns at all. I think like i say yes. They were probably refers team score on quite a bit of time but in fairness the last team. They faced before us didn't have a quarterback it was the denver broncos so even when their quarterback was in he was one of the worst league. They had a wide receiver playing quarterback and then the game before that regime. It was you. It was your team that played the saints. So you're part of the problem. You're part of the reason the saints haven't allowed touchdowns in the while. And please don't use the broncos as a measuring stick for this franchise unless you really want to just meyer mediocrity forever. We have to get better in order to have a winning coacher. You gotta be able to get in the end zone charles and. There's no doubt about that in how you do that. Is you gotta go out to keep her. So we gotta find wait for coaching staff skies habits on even on preparation. What we wanna do so do better job original so before we go on with the rest of the press conference. We're gonna take a quick break. We'll be right back support for this. Podcast comes from carbon in the age of online retail. Buying a car should be no different. That's how you catch us when you're on the go Social media's at 99 the game. Get me up at J. M. C. H. 316. He's at Jarvis. The 19 talked. Anybody can secure coming up here in the next segment as Georgia Tech filing, getting back in the action felt like it was About half a season ago. But it was like four weeks in between games for Georgia Tech, So they took care of business against Duke and move on now from there, Um, speaking of moving on is the Atlanta Falcons. Get ready for hate week and the second match up with the New Orleans Saints and Interim head coach Raheem Morris at his Monday press conference. Raheem Morris was asked about Atlanta and the change in the second half of the season compared to where this season started. His quote was you just want to get the guys reset every week for this woman. Oh, mentality. And not to write the emotional roller coaster to not allow these guys to be too high on themselves or too low on themselves. No matter what happens, you know when your own five. It's easy for everybody to turn on each other in two point fingers and see who the problem was, and that wasn't the case. Then Jeff Schultz, longtime Atlanta columnist now with the athletic form of the agency. Asked the remorse. What was the first thing that he had to do to change the culture around the Falcons team? Here's what Morris had to say about them. Usually you get an off season and you get a bunch of team meetings in the whole preparation thing where you planted out, you're ready to go. Here's the spill. Here's the philosophy. Here's what we're going to do, moving forward. And for me, I had about two hours. You get a chance for your friend Dan Quinn to say goodbye to the team and turn over the reins to myself, and then you get to talk to them, and you've got to be flat out honest with them and tell them the truth. The truth was, we had failed that man miserably through the first five games. And that's the cost of what happens and the cost of doing business and we're going to move forward and I asked the guys to let me lead them. Now let me um Let me repeat that quote. And you have to be and you've got to be flat out honest with them and tell them the truth. The truth was, we had failed that man miserably through the first five games. Mm hmm. Interesting quote. Is it true though? So did the Falcons fail. Dan Quinn ordered Dan Quinn failed the Falcons. Now here's the thing on and Said this all the way back even in the Super Bowl year, Okay? I've never thought the and Quinn was that good of a head coach. And I even said during the Super Bowl year. The reason that the Falcons were in the Super Bowl and as far as they went, is because their quarterback played out of his mind was the MVP of the league. And I did the whole historical breakdown, starting in 1979 with Terry Bradshaw and said, Here you go. When the quarterback is the M v p of the league. This is what happens to that team. They're in the conference title game. This many Super Bowls. You win the super so When you have a guy that plays that well. What happens is is that your team has lots of success and it their offense was so good that it mass love things. They want a great defensive team by any stretch of the imagination. During that time. So let's look at it like this number one Was for a guy who was brought in because you know, he quote unquote ran Pete Carroll's defense in Seattle. Or he was the D. C in Seattle for The Legion of Boom and all that kind of stuff. Which I told you was mythology to That's Pete Carroll's defense. Not Gus Bradley, not Dan Quinn. You know, they reaped the rewards of what All of that is. But you still see to this day that that's always been Pete Carroll's defense. Just like Bill Billeting. Doesn't matter if it's Romeo Cornell, Matt Patricia, whatever. It's still that guy's defense when you have a when you have a what I want to say, a a dominant personality like a Pete Carroll. No, That's his team and all that, too. It's so but anyway. So Have the Falcons ever been that good Defensively, Energy and Quinn? Thank you had one top 10 season and that's been it. By and large, they have been a disaster and by the way With a guy in Dan along with Thomas, who was Dan. We're talking about stickers. Last seven. Dan was heavily involved in picking the players here now. Doesn't mean they got him all wrong. But you know, one of your draft classes like we said, was technically Duke Riley and Sean Harlow. So that's a throwaway entire year. Your first draft was Vic Beasley and Jalen Collins. Now Vic had the year that helped him get to the Super Bowl. That was another thing. They had one guy that could go get the quarterback and made all the difference in the world. But once he couldn't figure out how to get to the quarterback, and teams figured him out. Then it was a disaster. Now. How many times that we come here on a Monday and talk about play clock coaching, situational football..

"He morris had a prior coaching stint in the nfl in tampa bay did not go. Well is second time around. He's taken a lot of lessons from that first time in his first. Six games with the atlanta falcons. He's four and two including forty. Three to six. Rout of the las vegas raiders on sunday in atlanta. Little bit tougher task. I would think a rivalry game against the saints on sunday and look. He knows. Remorse knows that if he wants to win this job if he wants any chance to have this job permanently. He's going to have to win games like this and they've got a very tough schedule down the stretch. But now we'll hear from raheem morris. The interim coach of the atlanta falcons back on the podcast. So happy to be joined by rain. Morris the interim head coach the atlanta falcons he of course aiming to take away that interim tag Regime reno just before we started. We retarget about something that that i have found to be so So present among really good coaches in the nfl in that is that old saying from chuck knoll. The only game that matters is the next game or this week's game is the most important game. Is that the approach. You take now. That i mean everybody's asking the question. Hey you're going to get the full-time gig you know just throughout weeks. And how as they've been going to take one metality for our team for guys for everybody you know. You can't worry about things that you can't control. You know things that you can't control is how you go about every single game and how your tax game-high dictate terms trying to wait each game. And that's approach to be taken. Ream me a little bit about team that you inherited. I know that one of the things that really surprised me when you took over. This team was still. They fired coach. General manager you guys had kovin thing that way so i think you only got one practice in that week and then you get on a plane and you go to minnesota any a manhandle. The vikings take me back to that week. And let's just go over. How'd you find out you had this job and tell me how your approach was that first week difficult situation. Obviously being one of my best friends in life and dan quinn being fired somebody that respects so much in football in general as well as life But it had happened in. He handed over the reins to me in a team meeting on monday. Talking to the football team on his last conversation the ad with the whole team was able to hand it over to pass it off to me. And i simply told those guys the truth. We had a culture problem. We didn't have an issue with a problem walker room. We had a winning problem. And we failed dan quinn. In my opinion. I just felt that way and i was honest with the guys and i told him that you know and i got them ready for our next meeting that we had which was on wednesday. You know the guys came in live where to do not indoor facility and i simply laid out what our plan was going to be moving forward and it was the only thing i could do was revert back some of the lessons that i learned from some of the former coach. That have been able to deal with in my life. Like a mike tomlin like monte kiffin like a jon gruden in the only way we knew how to win. We're tapping together with force willing opponent. And i told us jobs for simple. We had to god score and try to get the ball back on offense and defense special team included and i wanted to make their messaging simple and i want those guys to have something that they can focus on order to go out there and try to get a win. You know like you just mentioned The next day going out and we try to have a really good practice that wednesday on the next day we'd go out and thursday. He have covert issue yet to close down to build. So you get the one practice on wednesday you get the thursday a virtual meetings you come back on friday you try to double down the day and get a little bit of both you get a little bit friday and you go out and play a tough team. Minnesota we know is going to be physical not well coaching. When do the right things. And we're fortunate enough to get a win. And i think the guys. Dr phil what winning felt like they got comfortable. Wouldn want to do it more so meshing just got more simple start to add things to you messaging as the week goes on and you try to fill as more ways for your team to find a way to get a week. What do you recall about serving the mentality of your team. That first week you take over your own five. The two guys who run the team get fired. What happened when you look your team in the i. What did you see you know. I wanted to get the guys together. I want get different groups together. That had been together as much. You know sometimes. I wanted to get the corners in tackles together. I wanted to get a bunch of my guys running hit type players. I wanted to get a couple of leaders together. I want to get a couple of guys. Like the mike linebacker quarterbacks together you had to get the different groups that talked to the team a different groups that abrahams affect the team. And i want be able to talk to those guys. When tell them what i expected and what i was looking forward how we're going to move forward and we ever do those things that have those communications with people and could all those people on the same page. You've got wanna court so to speak. But i wanted those guys know what the message was going to be in hollywood Move forward and they absolutely followed it to not and they absolutely bought into the message. We're out there. I told them how we want to practice the look. Look more physical on to look more fast and we know that we have the opportunity to be able to do those things. We've seen it before in the past and we have one before we knew what one that looked like that thing across our team make everybody feel important to make. Everybody feel a sense of urgency. That is time to bill. Nfl like the guy's really responded. Well we're not perform well and then we will be.

"Has been. It's been all over the place incident. Yeah so now that you have played a game at quarterback in the nfl. What is your nfl goal from here. I'm just. I'm just looking to know. Get out now in that field and know whatever whatever position as saying no other change. The elephants So now just you know working to get back out there. And and and so what i can do so i'm here for you. Don't wanna be a one hit wonder you not at all. I guess the last question. I had when i was watching you during the game. You know wondering what kind of goes through your mind. I wonder now when you look back at this day. Are you going to look back at it as a positive experience. Because you got to play quarterback in the nfl or or you look at it like a negative experience because you went one for nine. Your team got killed in How are you going to look at this experience. In retrospect this is this is definitely a positive experience. I you know it's is nothing negative to say i you know. Of course. i didn't play as well as i wanted to You know the team. We didn't play as well as wanted to lead the team. But you know something i believe. Is that things happen for a reason. the i was there as a reason. I got the opportunity. And i'm just gonna learn from know all we can take a nothing. Ever experience note we condemn from positive. Attitude kendall hin. I really appreciate you taking the time to talk to me. And and you've had a unexperienced. The vast majority of american males wish they could have which is to play quarterback in an nfl game and you live alabama and so that's pretty cool presented. Hey all the best to you. And good luck i thank you. The holidays may look a little different this year. But there's still a lot to.

"Do a lot of those guys as well you know. They stayed to my ear all day and encouraged me in On sunday morning you actually did sort of. I take it. You continue to bid. Walk through deal right in a little press conference room next to the locker room. I guess with With coaches shula shurmur. Tell me what that was like in the morning. Right before the game we couldn't really do much So we just you know kind of ran over things start to work on Noma huddle president town. We're gonna talk to the guys in the huddle and no working notes on some footwork things for the for the hand austin as much as i. It's interesting you talk about the huddled presence. What was their advice about that. Yeah No not see eight No make sure you loud and you just got confidence you can't you can't go in the huddle no whispering to to these guys you know. There's no confidence in office. So you just gotta bring that when you jogged out for warm ups before the game did hit you at all that. This is one of the craziest things you could ever imagine. Honestly can't say it hit me until after the game and the next day until i really got to absorb the moment it was it was seriously just unreal sunday. You know running out on the field. No woman Rented a tunnel. It was it was surreal. It yet ain't even feel real So it's tough to really to really absorb a moment until today's later. Yeah when you go in the game. I wonder your emotions stepping into the huddle. I know that first couple of stamps. Phillip lindsay took direct snaps. And then you came in. I think the last play of this series. What do you remember when you stepped into the huddle for the first time Now remember coats calling to play. And i remember you know my left arm to shake as i've tried to you know. Try to read these tiny wears on a wristband non china trying to calm. I cannot there but you know the the nearest taking over. And i'm just not the the best quarterback and be in knossos guys that confidence But there but definitely jitter fisher your first staff. You threw an incompletion. And i think it was cam jordan. Who is kind of coming in as a as a heavy russian i. This is the other thing. You're playing the number three defense in football. There's cam jordan. There's de mario davis There's malcolm jenkins there's lattimore. This is a really really good. Nfl defense and i wonder. did it. Hit you when you were looking. Across the line of scrimmage man most of these guys have been in the pro bowl I really thought about during the game it was it was. It was better football You you definitely notice the sizes. These guys noticed the speed on notice. The difference in the gang speed overall but not today was still football. You know you just gotta get tunnel vision. Where you out there and you don't really know those assorted things until the afternoon On your third series Or i think yeah on your third series you scrambled around right in on a third nine Little bit late in the first quarter. You got five yards. You get tackled by kwon alexander and you know i wonder. Do you recall that play. Andy recall thinking was it. Was it a designed run or did you just not find somebody open. No wasn't it wasn't as arm royals pass and you know for anybody who's never played position sitting in their pocket is is is one of those you know. Harnessing to during football in especially for someone who hasn't experienced it Trying to trying to work the pocket with style so just trying to get out of pocket and use my legs and Yeah it's funny. I actually went over to the sideline after that play untold guys like you know i never seen somebody closed at fads Especially sides yeah. I gots acclimated. I guess two to three years did getting tackled. Feel kind of good to you. Did it make you feel like hey. I'm in a football game now. Oh yeah oh yeah it brought. It brought back the Not reality that. Hey this is. Football is iran and gaza. Going to tackle you it. It actually felt great to take a leak in kind relax. Nerves halftime like what was coach. Shula and pat shurmur sania. Kfi in You know stay at it. Keep competing in. Continue to do the best you can. I just wanted to take care. Take care of the ball and minimize You know the situation as best we could and that was pretty much At halftime just keep fighting. I thought was really interesting. I pass of the third quarter. Was your completion. You cert rolled right and through back to the left to know a fan for thirteen yard gain. What did that mean to you. And what do you remember about that way. You know i remember. Seeing noah catch it is honestly a bad ball. But i remember seeing nor catch in just a relief just knowing that just completed a pass in the nfl You know it kinda hit me in that moment but knows ten next play but i you know that was super excited to experience in. Always been a dream and out so great for four Broncos gave me the you'll come in and give it a shot. No but when i got waived didn't get a call a note didn't have any money in my pocket and had a note kind of figure out what what i was gonna do and no wait. Forest gave me the opportunity with that the degree to had much started. Think about real life. So tell me win. The broncos called you and what they said when they called you back. Yeah so this is about two weeks At our has start with vertical race. And your actually moved in with my sister into a new home and getting settled in there and getting ready to start this new job. yeah. I'm i'm walking through lows going to get some some stuff for new room and my agent calls me he says. Hey i got some cold gear and like nobody has no issues. Go get some are the broncos once you back you're going to eat the hop on a plane Tomorrow known a heavy back there and not for print scar. Wow were you look thought goes through your mind when you're walking through lows and your agent calls and says you're going to the nfl just wonder you know. Drop everything was done. Run out the out bill. It was amazing to hear. Because for me i thought it was not alexander my career and not. Just get another chances. It took a while to the kind of sinking. So you get back to denver. This was about a month ago right. I think it was in week. "Welcome to the peter king. Podcast a very busy newsweek. I think you're gonna like my guest this week My first conversation is with the player. Who caught america's imagination on sunday playing quarterback for the denver broncos when twenty four hours before the game. He had absolutely no idea that he would even be in the game. And that is kendall hinton of the quarterback of the denver broncos probably for the last time in his life but he certainly was for one memorable day in thirty one three loss to the new orleans saints. And then we'll also talk to remain. Morris who has the atlanta falcons on quite a hot streak since they started owen. Five only lost two game. Sense and regime. Morris is getting a lot of credit for coming waters in atlanta getting him to focus on football getting him to play some ferocious defense which was really evident in their massacre of the las. Vegas raiders on sunday. So we'll have hinton and we will have morris in just a moment but first you know a lot of people in the last few days of said to me so it's absurd that these games are being played. Isn't it ridiculous that the denver broncos played win all four quarterbacks they have under contract in the organization were either covid positive. In the case of one quarterback jeff driscoll and then the other three were close contacts with driscoll. And so. isn't it ridiculous they should play. Isn't it ridiculous that the baltimore ravens should play. I mean as i record this podcast now. The ravens are in the air on the way to pittsburgh to play obviously eastern time. Three forty pm on wednesday. And isn't it absurd. They're playing with approximately twenty three player. Positives in the last nine days. And yes it is absurd. It's absurd the denver should play and it's absurd that baltimore should play however just because it's absurd it doesn't mean it is a dumb idea and i'll tell you why because what has happened this year. This calendar year in the national. Football league roger goodell. Basically said hey. Listen what we are going to do. Is we're gonna get free agency to go on as scheduled. Even though this pandemic is just started it went on life. Went on the draft. Were not postponing the draft. It's gonna go on and it went on as scheduled even though it was done. Virtually and i think the league office at that point basically got emboldened anna league office said about this season. There fought about this season. Basically has been. There's no sign no assurance whatsoever that the pandemic is going to get any better in fact. It's probably going to get worse. And i would agree that between now and the first week of february when super bowl is going to happen other than the fact that some emergency workers. You know some emergency medical workers and and an essential workers are going to get a vaccine. The vast majority of americans will not have been vaccinated by early february. If you want a season to happen you gotta play the games and everybody says and i understand why everybody says. Just move games two week. Eighteen having exter- regular season league understandable and it still may happen but if you elongate season by a week. does that. Lessen the possibility that you're going to be able to complete this season as you thought it would. Or i mean what does it do to the completion of the season and i think what it does is it makes it harder and harder to play two hundred fifty six regular season games and the playoffs without having a major disruption in the course of the season so as much as it sounds like a kind of circular logic and you're justifying a bad thing with another bad thing you're justifying playing these games by saying in essence. Well you don't want to make the season go later. I think that's a very good reason. You don't wanna push this season back in back in back because what's going to happen. Do you think the pandemic is going away. I don't and that's why as painful as watching some of these games is. I think the game should be played if at all possible that they can be played so a listen. If you disagree with me please disagree in and all you some of a letters and emails in my column right to me. Peter king f. m. i. a. at g mail dot com. Just telling me make a comment right on this on this site With you know with this podcast you can. You can comment. you can tell me. I'm full beans or whatever but it's something that i just feel pretty strongly about as you can tell so. Let's get to our. i guess. You know kendall. Hinton was just minding his own business until the phone rang late saturday afternoon in his apartment in denver and it was his position coach with some incredible news. And he's going to tell you about that. Incredible news when i chat with them right here after a moment. And just just keep one thing in mind when you listen to kendall hinton he's not basically used to the world of the sound bite you know. He's not a he's not a you know. A many time interviewed person And so you know not in any way to be critical of how he was when i talked to him but i think all of this attention with kendall hinton is really blowing him away which you'll be able to tell when you listen to so now. Here's my conversation with kendall..

"All right now on to our next guest who's got a big assignment this week, going up against the Drew Brees, Liss New Orleans Saints, the Falcon's head coach, Raheem Morris. Hello, Ray him. How are we? Then? I could be doing better but yourself. You're doing all right. Listen, you take over the team is own five. Your three. And what with you as a coach, I would say you're doing pretty well, right? You know, I can't complain. You know, you've got to be in the moment, Adam, and we're certainly gonna assume the responsibility and do what he'd do to find a way to win dream. I want to ask you, you take over as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hey, coach Back in 2000 and nine. You're 30, who years old 12 years later, you're 44 You take over as the interim head coach, The Atlanta Falcons. What is the difference? Between 32 year old Raheem Morris and 44 Year old regime, Marsh. You know, 32 year old, pretty Morris. I don't want talking third person, but it was a great opportunity. There was something out there that look forward to you. Were you able to do you do at a young age of going a lot of energy? You're going to a situation that you probably just wasn't all the way ready for No. And then he gets fired on the spot. And every day after that's been the great learning experience, get a chance to work with guys like Mike Shanahan get a chance to work with cow shit and Shauna today on that same staff and all the guys over there working there. What would Jim has been coming from that Pittsburgh system bringing that deepens and that philosophy and activity there and all the things that you know your company that with all stuff you always learn from the Monte Kiffin recovered to be able to just merge all defense of things. Then you move on. Be able to go and join your friend Dan Quinn in Atlanta, and he's able to bring something to Seattle back around some of the philosophy from their peak care of some of those get cooked those great coaches that he had been around here to get here. Same people like cow shit and work with him actually on the same side of the ball and move the offense. Both cultural defense and being efficient head coach and be able to support them. Quit the highest weapon being to give him all the advice in the world that you possibly could that you went through when you were 32. Now, all of a sudden, you're 44. You have the opportunity to take over for your good friend and just want to do the greatest job you could possibly do for him. The city or the team for your fan base for your family for everything that you could possibly represent. Have you had much contact with Dan Quinn? Since you took over? I will always have contact with their queen You're talking about The greatest man in my life, talking about one the people that is a big time mentor for me, a person I could always communicate with and tell the truth too. And I'll get the truth back Then you have those kind of people. You find those kind of people. You don't lose sight. You don't lose touch. Continue those communications throughout the whole process. What's the greatest thing that you'd say? You learned from Dan Quinn? Rain? You know, Dan Quinn was a constant motivator is a constant guy that was always looking to self developed. In both developed his coaches that and developed everybody around him. He wanted everybody to grow at the highest level and be able to move forward on to take steps, sport to being whatever they want to be. Whatever it was Do you want to be the best receiver coach? He's gonna find a way to help you be. The best coaches want to be a better husband is going to find a way to help you be a better husband. If you want to be a better head coach and find a way to become a head coach is gonna do everything in his power to help you become a head coach, and there was no different at the end for him here and it is right now with me taking over for him. And how we supported me and how we help me God long to get ready for this moment. Now, you know, I'm thinking about 32 year old remorse and I remember there are teams that reach out to you to me. At times this and what do you think this guy and I said, Boy, he's very well respected. Players love him. They just don't know at the age of 32 if he's ready quite yet. In Tampa. Give you that chance at that time looking back at it now, do you think it might have been? Better to wake at a little bit more seasoning before you can head coach or the opportunity came along, and you felt like you're still happy that it happened then I don't know if you could never take away from that experience of being a temp, a head coach. One of the greatest moments of my life, working with really great people in the Glazers. I'm working for really good organization Template Buccaneers having the opportunity to take that team and go 10 and 6 2010 magical years not make the playoffs get bumped out by the Green Bay Packers Packers. What actually went on to win the Super Bowl, but Don't that year. The lung experience you've got the year from success and including the years you had from from some of your fault, because you got to go to some adversity in life going through the verse of the moments and those those situations has definitely made me stronger for the process of what we're gonna do right now. The only way you go through those situations. If you put yourself in situations, so you would never turn down an opportunity to be in the situation, no matter what the age no matter what the time, no matter how How much would it mean to you to become a head Coach again? Rain? Let me rephrase that. How much should I meet you to have the interim title removed for me, Adam..
Atlanta Falcons hang on to beat Carolina Panthers and avoid season sweep

"We talked about a little earlier What the change in Romeo Cornell has done. For the Houston Texas. Well, Raheem Morris is certainly straightened out the Falcons in the short term. Can they do it once again today as they take on the two of three lines and checking in from Mercedes Benz Stadium is Jeff's el Jefe. Good afternoon. Hello. Rich. Yeah, the one on $5 healthy for the week and we attacked McKinley defensive end ready to start. No injuries for them. Two and three. Lions for Falcon doesn't troop on is inactive. Now your ride. Atlanta looked a lot better. And head coach Raheem Morris is first name his head coach against the Vikings last week. Much more organized and focused on defense and energized on offense, with Julio Jones back former pro bowler Deon Jones, whose name rich We barely heard it this year, was all over the place last week, including a pick How can still lead the league and surrendering 18 touchdown passes this year. That's three again and they've allowed 11 touchdown passes. Tight ends. Which explains why I saw Samy, TJ Hawkins and George is on the way to the stadium today. One thing both teams have in common blown losses to the Bears for Detroit, DeAndre Swift dropped Go ahead Touchdown pass a week, one with 11 seconds to go in the game. In week three Falcons blood to bears 26 to 10 with nine minutes in 19 seconds left in the game at home and lost 30 to 26 after Dan Quince team Inexplicably threw the ball six times in their next seven offensive plays with the lead all were incomplete and therefore stopped the clock. You look at the Falcons today. Coming off the window last week. What is different? Eso far under of Raheem Morris, from what you could gather. Well, the defense is much more organized and focused. They had three picks last week. It just looks like a different team. It looks like a team is paying more attention to detail. They also replaced the special teams coach after that ridiculous play, and the Cowboys where they didn't Fall on an onside kick. And it was interesting because there were a couple onside kicks last week. You saw the Falcons knew exactly what they were doing. You know, as you would think any protein would, but they Fell on the ball and got the ball on offense. A lot more energized Lolo Jones back and healthy that Ryan mate some old time that Italian place where it looks like he's going to run came back. Saul received through it, Jones And Jones got a touchdown for the team just looked a lot more organized, focused and confident last week, and so much of this team has been about blowing leads. But last week when they were able to hold the ball for 40 minutes of the game, it's not going to give the opposition as much time again. This is a team that likes to throw the ball and Matt Ryan had a terrific game last week 30 of 40 for 371 yards, but how much of that? Is not necessarily look. They're not going to curtail a passing game, but but making smarter place. Well, making smarter place used. The running game haven't intertwined, not running so much on second down, setting up third and long and also they had three picks when it's a team that under Dan Quinn, they were saying, we turn over. We need to get turnovers. They never got turnovers. Well, last week, they got three. That's one of the reasons your offense has such a lead in time of possession. And of course, as I mentioned earlier, this is a bit of a homecoming to the state. Where both Matthew Stafford DeAndre swift. More recently, Swift played college football. Of course, Desmond Trufant missing this reunion as he is an active today. And and you know what else? Isaac Nada, who was a highly highly sought after recruit came to Georgia the same year as Matthew Stafford was the top Titan in the nation. He is also on the Lions. So, yes, several lines players with key Georgia connections and both running backs on each side of the ball. Todd Gurley for the Falcons. DeAndre Swift for the Lions are former Georgia bulldog so It should be a fun game to watch. Well, it's going to be interesting to say the least, is ah Lions right now and to win three. You never know what you're going to expect from them at, Of course, Kenny Golladay back after the hamstring injury against the one in five Falcons, And who knows what to expect? Do we? Seymour? The what we saw from them the first five weeks or more of what we saw from them last week. Thanks for checking in, Jeff, we will talk. Ah, shortly after kick off in a little more than a half an hour from now look forward to it all right. Jeff's L in Atlanta, the 15 Falcon's looking to make it back to back wins under Raheem Morris after Dan Quinn was fired, taking on the Lions and two and three and the Lions are a team that you look at them and you say they should be better than they are. Of course. Jeff mentioned the blown lead to the Bears in the season opener, and that has been Ah, happening a lot to this team. Under map, Patricia will see if they can get the wind today moved to the 500 mark, or whether the Falcons could build off last week's win and make it back to back games. Still a couple of sites to get to the battle of Ohio the Bengals in Brown's coming up, we'll check in in New Orleans. Rene know is of almost like a reunion Sunday here with Teddy Bridgewater and the Panthers in New Orleans today, and, of course, the winless bills winless jets with Sam Darnold back at quarterback. Taking on the bills, who have suffered back to back losses after starting the season for nose. So as I mentioned before, this is a bit of a get right game today for the Bills. They have been around long enough to be called old heads. But they are part of your kind old head part of your defense, I guess and guys that have been through all those battles. Deon Jones in Cheon O'Neill. I I thought there was a step up if you will. And I know they come to play each and every weekend, But those two guys really brought it yesterday. Especially Kiki coming downhill kind of, you know, paving the way to say we're here to play really hard. Defensively. We're going to hit you if you're in our area. Did you see that yesterday? Well, we challenge those guys last week on a running hit mentality. Deebo particularly stepping to the plate. You know, we talked about that goal line play to be made with the running it mentality. You know, Rico. Ricardo Allen was in that same challenging group. Cheon O'Neill was in that same challenging group to see him come out and play. Robert had to go out like he did. Make the big play in the back Billy made under on the blitz. I really thought those guys stepped to the plate along with Grady Jarrett and some of those other guys, but Particularly those guys that you mentioned. I couldn't be more happy with the way they tried to come out and actually keep running hit every single time Now, obviously, there'd be someplace will point out tomorrow and then the right way or done exactly how you want, but that's all a part of coaching. And that's our job to identify problems and let those guys fix it. Now. Your sack numbers weren't necessarily where you'd like him. I know you'd like to have five or six sacks a game. Alan Bailey did get through, and I don't know what Alan Bailey's deal is of playing the Vikings, but I think he's played in three Vita games against the bike. He's got about 18 tackles and two sacks. But so if you could convince Alan Bailey, you're playing the Vikings every weekend. That might be a good thing, but Ah, tell me about your past Russian. How it's evolving. I thought cousins felt it looked to me like having played that position. He was uncomfortable. Most today that means people are around him or where is that group at as far as getting after faster? You know, we always talked about it. You know, It's not always the section about expecting the quarterback and yesterday to get out and got one sec believe too weak. A mom hadn't attacked an elbow and made it costs were tipped balls for an interception. And obviously do the other two balls that you have been deceptions early in anyone to wherever they hit him outside the pocket a little bit of some of his keeper game. I got some great strike zone hits from the guys. You know him right where he's supposed to legal hits was really good. On. I felt I felt like it was uncomfortable for most of the day, And that was the winning exports pressure getting the ball to come out early, capitalizing on some interceptions and getting the sack when it was needed. Oh, I know you haven't gone completely into Detroit yet. I know you probably watch him good bit of tape on him, and I know you're still in the game plan phase of trying to put some of the ideas together What you want to present to the players when they come, CIA? Uh, this week to get ready for this football game. But what's a thumbnail? Give us a little thumbnail on what you, uh, You remember about Detroit? Obviously a tremendous quarterback that can sling it all over the yard. And they do have a presence of Ah, a run game. But it's a little idea what you were expecting, maybe from Detroit. Well, you know, you got it ready for Matthew Stafford already mentioned it. He's a hometown boy coming from Georgia. He's well loved out here. Big R could make all the throws and we look forward to find against you. You got some really good targets. Marvin Jones. He's got Danny Amendola. He's got one of her old marble hall. Which we all know really well, so watching those guys and getting in chance that a bald guys who can't get away really fun to watch those guys go initiate added three running backs and they got a three headed monster back there and you got already attacking those guys. Another Georgia guy and swift. The old crappy that Agent Peterson still do it and all those guys up there, So we got to come ready to play on defense, like always. And you got ready deal with his defense man. His defenses. No one is gonna play physical is going to take tough. Um, mathematician does a great job of always getting guys ready to play? Well, they got some really good players and Danny Sheldon Trey flowers, some of the guys up front that we know about and then we know Desert to point to be back in that you know who he is and what he's about on the young kid occluded they drafted early and around so Really thought of play these guys without attention to where girls man and, uh, questions about the attack on the Internet. All right? Are you excited to get back in a Mercedes? Been stadium and get you a win here at home? Last thing for you for you Let you go, And we always appreciate your taking the time to join insurance sports radio 99 the game. Uh, just the ability to knowing that this is a Ah Marathon Sin area..

"Rocket can week six. The rivalry renewed in Pittsburgh. It has been a one sided rivalry in recent years. And that has been the case today with the Steelers crushing the brown spirit early. Up. 17 nothing. Ravens on top of the Eagles by a score of 17 to nothing early second quarter, the Giants looking for their first win on top of the Washington football team, 13 to 3. The cult's got off to a slow start at home. But I have just gotten on the board. So some hope for Philip Rivers and company were down 21 7. To Cincinnati. The foreign one bears on top of the Panthers, 10 to 3 as Carolina looking for its fourth straight win the Lions crushing the Jaguars 14 3 early the own five Falcon's off to a nice start under Raheem Morris, leading the Vikings by a score of 10 to nothing in the four no Titans. 14 7 lead over the one for Texas. Let's start things off this hour in Pittsburgh. I told you about the Steelers having no problems today with Cleveland. Let's check in with Jeff Hathorn. Has been all stealers started with the makeup. Fitzpatrick pick six of 33 yards. After struggling for much of the first half Ben Roethlisberger with six straight completions, including one of 36 yards to chase Claypool, down to the three yard line. James Connor finished it off with a three yard touchdown run. He has 50 art so far, and that score here in the first half mentioned to make a Fitzpatrick pick six and a 35 yard field goal. I'm Chris Boswell, Baker Mayfield, just three of eight or 25 yards. He's been fact a couple of times around, facing a third and long here on their own 30 for.

"Of course, there's always follow story at Torrey Underscore McElhaney, Torrey. Hope you're doing well on this. Friday is we get ready for the At least interim Ah Raheem Morris regime for leased the next 11 games. Yeah. Yeah, I'm doing good. It's been quite a week, though. Yeah, no question about it. Ah, lot going on. Let's start with, um, start with the injuries on, I believe. I mean, obviously, we know Marlon Davidson is in the code protocol, so he's not available. I thought I saw Julio was not listed on the injury updates to kind of give us an idea run down about who we think is in who we think is out. Well, I think for the first time and probably a few weeks, I have a lot more hope that you'll see. The Falcons looked a little closer to full strength and you've seen them look, probably in a while. I think it's very I mean, I do think that Julio Jones will play on Sunday, which is really good news for the Falcons. I know that they had a lot of God's limited in practice today, but I will say this because they didn't practice yesterday. I think you're kind of looking at guys. Who probably would have been limited yesterday would have been full strength today are limited, saying they'll be full strength tomorrow. So it's really it's really think a situation that the fact that they're looking a lot better injury wise. I know Tak McKinley Jalen Hawkins. They will have been ruled out for Sunday's game. But not everybody's looking to be working back and should be ready to go on Sunday. Sorry, I know. Ah, Raheem Morris was asked this question during the week, but I'm wonder forgetting anymore. Kind of clarification. And that was about who's going to call the defense. I mean, obviously, he and Jeff all brick, you know, they have this and I'll say it convoluted system about, you know, calling this on this down and that down and all that. And you know, all I know is that they're you know, one of the worst defenses. In the NFL. Are we getting any more clarity on it? Do we still think that that kind of breakdown is gonna happen? Or do we think that all brick is gonna have Mork control of just calling all the defensive players plays? I think I think it is going to look pretty similar to how it looked in the past. You know, half year. We did talk to Jeff Goldberg earlier today, and he did say that they were going to be splitting the play calling and then we talked to him earlier in the week, and he says that it'll look pretty similar to the end of last year. And then of course, beginning of this year, so I don't think we're getting too far away from what they have been doing in terms of defensive play calling, But you know that could always change. They could get to game then. Dream. Be like you know what? I'm gonna give this to you or let let's try and work battle in a different way before the time being. I think for this Sunday it is going to look pretty similar to how it looked. Rory. Um, we talked about this the other night on the show about the fact that it was it was kind of and it happened Monday. It was kind of like under the radar that been cut. Wicca was let go was the special teams coach? Do we know was that part of Arthur's kind of decision in making changes? Or is that something Raheem Morris had asked for. The way that I understand it, and this is just going off What Arthur Blank said on Monday. Then what behaved that on Tuesday? I do think that it was Raheem Morris Choice Day when we were talking to Arthur Blank and Rich McKay on Monday afternoon. They made the common. They're like the coaching staff. They're having a meeting right now to decide. You know what they're going to do in terms of, you know, rearranging responsibilities, and we have given that That decision to Brahim to make so I do think that was on his shoulders. Torrey McElhaney joining us here on the wait for dot com Hotline Course. Doctors reporter for the athletic for Friday conversation with her as we get ready for Falcons and Vikings coming up this Sunday, all of your action right here on sports radio. 92 9 the game. We also got news today that the Vikings will be out with will be without if I could talk on am on radio. But if the fact the Vikings will be without Dalvin Cook This Sunday Who? Obviously last year we remember porch this team and has had success you know against him. How much do you think that that plays into the Falcons trying to get more aggressive? How much do we think that? You know? Maybe they have to rely a little bit more on the past this Sunday. Maybe try to get after cousins. I mean, how much Is the dynamic changed with him out. I think it does change a little bit. It's really interesting because with everything that's happened this week with the Falcons, I've had very little time to even consider what's been going on with the Viking. But yeah, getting that news today that he's been officially ruled out. I think it does. I think you know it doesn't I don't think it changes it like Completely. I I I do think, though, that with what you're saying where they're like, maybe being a bit more aggressive in and how how they go about, you know, not having Tio. Essentially like have Tio have people on him. I mean, that's the thing is like you have to think about the what the resource is that they would allocate to him and what he can do and like what he said what he did last year and so I do think that it's kind of like, frees up the Falcons. Maybe just all that. Story. You know, I keep hearing the word accountability, accountability and I hear that from with all due respect to hear from analysts and I hear from this and hear from that, and there's got to be accountability. And we know obviously, coaches have been Let go. General manager has been let go. So there is some start to accountability out there. My question is, is that I mean, what is? What are we hearing from Raheem Morris as Faras player. Accountability because I mean, with all due respect, I look at the depth chart, and I understand the kind of is what it is. But I see some familiar names and faces of guys who, frankly have not done anything to get it. Get the job done this year and I see them still starting, you know on and I'll say it. You don't have to say it, but also, you know, 26. We don't We call him by his number. He's gotta earn that name back. But 26, for instance, still listed on the depth chart, even though it's been a real struggle for him, even though he struggled mightily for it all. What is Raheem Morris talking about as Faras? Player accountability and what may change there. So is specifically talking about that specific player. No one has Specifically called him out every time that you asked the coach about about him specifically, they just say that he's so close..

He's like 11 play away from Ah from getting an interception here or there, wherever it's like, that's all well and good night. Get it that they have. Players back, and that's great. But there is something to be said about wanting more from our players, and I did think it was very interesting when we were talking to Dante Fowler today. And he was asked a question. He was like, What's the difference between day and Clinton? Raheem Morris, and he was like, Well, Brahim is kind of making us a little bit uncomfortable because he's getting after us and One of the very first things that Rahim Moore did with. He had these meetings with the leaders on the team, and he did one for the offense and one for the defense and Specifically the defense. He had great hair. Ricardo Alencon O'Neill whaler Come beyond Jones, like he met with all of them and said, Look, I need more from y'all. I need more. I need more. I need y'all to go out and I need all the lead and I need you to lead by example. And I need to do this. This this And here's where your not doing and he kind of I mean, he didn't e. I don't know if he laid down the law, but he told them that, like what's been happening is not going to cut it now, and it is kind of like turning up the intensity a little bit, and I think that you have heard Part of Alan. He was talking about it. He's a Yeah, he kind of laid down the law. And then Dante Fowler saying today, you know, he kind of wants. He's trying to get us mad at him. He is making us uncomfortable. So that we can go out and play better says that we can play with more intensity. So yeah, I know when you talk about accountability like I think personally, I think that's what you want to hear. You want to hear that The coach is really getting after these guys, because the way that they have been playing is unacceptable. Yeah, And that is Raheem Morris is rep is that is that he's going to be more of a tough minded guy. Tora McElhaney is joining us here in the wait for Dotcom. Hot lunch covers all things for the Atlanta Falcons for the athletic as we get ready for Vikings and Falcons coming up Sunday afternoon, all the action right here on sports radio. 92 9 the game. You know, Obviously, things go well, then it will just continue to roll along. But I'm appears because there was something that stuck out to me about. Raheem Morris is comment. The other day. About how you know I've got a guaranteed 11 games. You know, Tio Kind of put my staying up in things like that. And I guess what kind of struck me is, um So am I to assume that if this team goes oh, in six in their next six games that there would be no other coaching changes that O. C D. C. Interim coach because I do think that I do think that How do I say this that that there's still going to be a white washing when when all is said and done when, when? When this season ends. I don't think you're going to see a lot of familiar faces. You know, on this staff, you know, come next year. What do you think that No matter what happens, we're he, Morris coaches, these 11 games, no matter. I mean, the good I understand, but no matter how bad it continues to get It was a really good question and one that we haven't really seen a situation Where what I mean like like what you said. Let's say the Falcons. Don't win, too. The bye week. Let's say they don't win the next six games. Let's say they don't win the next eight games like the do you see? Changes being made. I mean, as of right now, I don't know. I don't know the answer to that. Because just from talking Tio from talking until Arthur Blank have been talking to rich McKay I mean, they were saying the same thing to it's like Brahim has 11 games like this situation, And normally you have an interim come in, and he has three or four games. Do you have any more? Who has 11? So it's kind of a little bit uncharted territory, and I don't I don't know to be completely honest. I think it's okay to say I don't know what would happen if the Falcons didn't win another game for the next six weeks Like I don't know if we've ever had a situation like that searches for me to sit here and say like, Oh, yeah, if they don't win at some point in the next six weeks, there went however long we wantto say the hypothetical like, I don't know. I don't know for me to be able to say like, yeah, no, there would absolutely be coaching changes. I'm not ready to say that. Because there's a lot of stuff that I think like their business all of a big chunk of games. So to be completely honest, I don't know. "In most instances again, there's some outlaws for sure when there's an overwhelming amount of evidence that things have gone a little awry, and there was an overwhelming amount of evidence that things were going awry in Atlanta to me. You know, one strong finish would not, And I said this last year would not have been enough to bring him back last four years. He defensive guy 25th, 23rd, 23rd and 30th in points per game allowed. I understand injuries matter. I get it. Matt Rules won three of the front, the team that beat him yesterday. Matt Rules 13 of five games as a rookie NFL head coach without Christian McCaffrey with a new quarterback, and with eight new defensive draft picks that they took of the 2020 thread. I like Dan Quinn that he deserved to get fired. Yeah, of course he did. Yeah, I don't think anybody's disputing that, and I think that when you look at it in the long run It will be the right move for the for the Atlanta Falcons. Raheem Morris was just mentioning is the interim head coach and, you know, we'll see if he can. I don't know emotionally, you know, find a You know a pulse off this team and get them playing in a different in a different way. And Maybe simplifying things. I think that's what you look at. When you know, because the Teddy Bridgewater lead. Carolina Panthers are three and two right now. I mean, they're they're kind of compelling, You know, Despite the what you just said bt their young on defense that you have a of rookie in a defensive coordinator and Phil Snow. They have a rookie in offensive coordinator and Joe Brady have a rookie and their head coach. As Matt rule, and they're they're actually alive in the division's three wins, three straight wins and a tie and look good. Guess what? 61 yards in the first half. Hey, was listen. He could have thrown for 500, but they ran the ball a lot in second. That's right. That's right. He was good. That's exactly right. That's my point. So you know, don't raise in the only way you're doing that beauty is by being simple and just executing, right. Don't put all this complex stuff. Be simple. Let these guys execute. And that's what this Carolina Panthers team is doing. And so I think you're right, Dan Quinn. He deserved to be fired. And I think at this point, Dan Quinn probably would say he deserves to be fired. But you know, it's where else we saw these. This. This happened. We saw it with Bill O'Brien and in Houston, and you know that they even though I got to the post season, there was always this thing like hanging over him like Is he really the guy is he didn't really fix this thing. And then you get rid of DeAndre Hopkins and you do x Y and Z That is that really the right thing and ultimately gets fired after 14 in a battle with his is one of his stars of not more than one of his stars are the same thing could be said down in Jacksonville. You know, they're wanted for right now. They don't. They don't look good way. Question whether or not it was a smart move. They hang onto their head coach. Maybe not. So I think you're right, BT if it's if the writing is all there, it's probably going to come to fruition. You're not goingto just all of a sudden turn the corner and and it's things going to be hunky Dorey again. No, it doesn't work like that. And we did this with Bill O Brien will do this eventually with gays for that team. I don't talk about him. I don't mention anymore when he gets fired, which you will You say? Well, he's a Marone down in Jacksonville, Doug Marrone. I'm sure there's more to others that'll pop up. Is it a good job? And again? We look at it in broad terms in terms of maybe salary cap. Do you have a quarterback? What kind of traffic But he did have that kind of division Are you in And you know in in short summation is the Falcons job a good job..

"I think you want anybody on the road, do you? Maybe that's just me. All right. Let's hear from Dan Quinn spoke earlier today. To the media. Ah, this should be good. Here's day. I'm talking about Raheem Morris taking responsibility for not accounting for the Seahawks passing game. I would say, I think you know he's a little bit looking in hindsight, knowing that been such an effective running team for so long. I think what he's referring to, you know, really coming in with the mob set, they gotta stop running. No matter what. And so when they threw it as well, You want to adjust quickly as you can got a, uh You know, playbook full complement of defense is what you choose to feature in a game. You know that kind of goes all train. Can't this for this this for this? You don't use the whole playbook in every game, So I think probably what he's getting into this. You know some additional books that they have passed. Okay, This goes back, though. Dan Toe. What the lead Now we're talking about No. Football is gonna have adjustments throughout the game that you're gonna have to make. It's by the way, it's not just that The Falcons didn't account for the passing game, okay? They also didn't account for Jamal Adams and never adjusted to that. So you never adjusted to Jamal Adams. You never adjusted to a quarterback completing 88% of his passes. This goes back to everything that I always say about Ban and this team. It's all a bunch of gobbledygook. You know all this goddess. I got us a two touchdown Los at home to start this season off with miss me with their 25 points. They were down 38 to 18 in the fourth quarter. Miss me with all that other stuff that happened. I don't give a damn about 450 passengers. Christ, you're down three touchdowns. You better hook it all over the field, and you got all those guys. You damn sure better be putting up stats. They've gotta put appoints. You better put up stats. But this is what it's all about. Well, you know, we just okay. But you never figured it out and we lost by two touchdowns on her home field open the year. And that's why folks are mad. Like Jeez, Come on, man. Just coach up. Here's the ad talking about being ready for the defence of line of Dallas. I think you haven't into Dallas. They've added some players, You know, obviously, you know, it's already a good group. You know Lawrence from a pass rusher, but adding Griffin and in Alden Smith, who really after a good long layoff, really came out strong and looked like he was really fit and ready to go. So let's say the challenges. You know the unique skill set of of all three of those guys. I was pleased to see the improvement. You know an offensive line, certainly in the protection side, But I think that probably goes along, you know, Take it a step further was, you know the one year development with Chris and with Caleb in all the playing time together all the practice time together. Their communication. Watch this done Look for this thing. So those are things that you just keep hoping to see improved, but those two are taking that year once a year to jump. All right. So two things about the offensive line One is we know that Jake Matthews has dinged up on banged up. I think he's going to play on Sunday, but he may be kind of dinged up. Banged up when it comes to all of that number two is I think you'll see Matt Hennessy in a little bit more at guard. I'm gonna be curious. The watch His snap count was about 16 snaps. I believe Out of 79 offensive plays that they ran. Let's see what his snap count is on Sunday. Uh, quickly here, let's get to damn talking about what he's learned by having Hayvenhurst on this team. Right. I had, uh, good inside or information just from his time in South Carolina, and it spoke to coast must champ about him and I was first impressions. How hard he's going Thought, man. This guy's totally going for it. Max it I thought The urgent player. What I probably didn't know was how fast he is. And so even from the time of Baltimore, there's you know we're doing our evaluation, part of the trade, a long touchdown run where you sell us be, but when you're around it every day, you feel how fast he is. So I would say that's One thing. Maybe I was pleased to see you wouldn't say I was like, surprise, and we could run well, but I think it was better than even I thought. Yeah, There's no doubt that He's got better speed and quickness. If you will, than what Austin that catch where he stretched out, Austin Hooper would never make that play. Would have never have made that play. Gotta use the more I think. I think he's a listen. Another guy this week we talked about Todd Gurley another guy this week without those linebackers. Here's a chance for him to get out in the middle of a field and make some plays for it. All right. Here's the and talking about getting more out of special teams, especially on returns. Yeah, it's a It's a difficult one. But you got good question. The kickoff return. Sometimes you get a chance, but sometimes you don't have him the ability to start at 25 kick that goes deep in the end zone. That's one. That's you know, certainly worth taking out 25 Noah's Faras. A touchback goes one that we think we can gain. Maybe some field position is if you're who has ability to drop the ball down. You know whether it's right at the goal line and cover if you can knock him back down inside the 20. Sorry. The proper term side goes. We do like Brandon's speed and quickness. He'd play slot receivers of those air. Good attributes for a cover. Turner Let me from wrong, Jarvis. You can fair catch a kick and taking it to 25 in today's NFL, right? That part of the rules. Yes, if you Yeah, If you think you if you're inside the 25, you can fair catch it And, you know, go to put 25. So So I mean, what difference does it make? If you so if you kick it, let's say to the two yard line. You can fair catch it at the two yard line again into 25. So where's there? An advantage. What? What? I understand what he is talking about. My thing is this You know, every yard that your return guy can get. Use, one less yard and first down that your offense has got to get And field position in the NFL does get to be a big thing, and, by the way, go look historically at field position and playoff teams. Seems that started the 30 yard line for playoff or sorry for field position tend to always be playoff teams. There is a correlation to your starting position and What the end result ends up being that was college, by the way, college dude that if 20 for you know, not not an NFL adjusting that's in college. That was the rule change. Okay, I knew was in college, but I want to know if I can visit the NFL so.
