"Thunder last week. Oh my gosh. If you're not following on youtube you need to make a special visit over there today. Look at that baby. Oh so cool. I mean we love. We love our podcast. Listeners are audio listeners but we also have a lot of fun hamming it up for camera. Oh yeah absolutely. Love it so daddy. What's this one gonna be named. I don't remember what it was named. I don't know if they had a name yet. Charge of that well. I didn't name him while. That's an inside joke in. The whole story comes back to allah to april the giraffe when she had her boy and they named him tadjoura. Yes jerry. I swore that he is named should have been rafiki. So every giraffe that is born is now named rafiki despite the fact that he is not a giraffe. I know this. I know that. From the lion king. And you don't have to tell you can write in and tell me though but i know this but rafiki is such a cool name that every baby boy animal should be named rafiki. Pretty cool eight. That's the that's the inside jokes. So we'll say his nash for fakey gonna it. But according to data who is the name of all the baby animals in the world. It's for fakey. You heard it here. I yes all now. Last bit cheddar we have for this week. And it's that kinda got lost in the shuffle. "But just have fun and be yourself. My mom said move out the way You can have fun when I have my one way ticket to New York City. Mom, What about being myself? Being yourself won't get Mommy. I mean, Amanda So the Lion King man, come over here. There's something you need to learn. You need to put yourself out there. So when you see the casting director, tell him you've already menstruating. Your post Pube Essen. You won't grow. You'll look nine for forever, particularly And if that doesn't look out, you can always know acts like a monkey walking your hands or some crap like that, and They might cast you as Rafiki. You I am assigned to kind of hear what my mom says. But also stay sane. And I remember closing my eyes and just Feeling I was so close to my dream I in my head. I saw myself loud and proud on a stage in front of a crowd. Proving that a girl who's black and skinny and Kiki and had a speech impediment could make it to Broadway. Finally, after a little bit, they call my number. I walk into the audition room and in my head and with citing the lyrics. I'm I'm I'm gonna be a mighty king like no king before I'm working on my war. Trying to be heard. But these words don't sound right. Could I ever be in the spotlight? And I'm there in front of the casting director and I remember my mom told me so. I said Yo, good.

"And now I will say this I didn't expect to say this like two years ago. But my God am I a fan of Josh Allen? My goodness. And how crazy was it? A buffalo? It was insane. Like I was. I was sad today because when I woke up and I knew that the bills game was about to come on, I'm on Twitter and you know I'm not. I don't like live on there, but I'm on there and you could find me and it's been squint. But Don't follow bills, people. I just They just haven't popped up on my radar. You know, I'm a Philly guy like now doing the national stuff. There's like two or three people. I feel like I following the bills, stratosphere, but that's about it. And I just knew it was gonna be insane. I just You knew the fan experience of the Buffalo Bills hosting a home playoff game was going to be absolutely nuts and, of course. There's a video that's going around. I'll know if you saw this. Christopher is the greatest thing ever. There's a video going around of this family and they're sitting down and they're all smiling. Did you see this? I see. I see a reaction. You're laughing over there? Yeah, I just finished the description before I lose it. Okay? Yes. So these people there's like, six people, and they're all just having a great time. They're all like adults. You know, They're very much fully grown people, one of them. Is holding a toddler. I mean, this kid is like two years old, three years old, and they're all wearing Bill's jerseys and they grabbed this small boy and they hold him up. Like Rafiki holds up Simba in the Lion King. And they slim and through a table, they slip this kit. Two minutes your table. It was insane. It was so great. It was like I watched it like 10 times Seriously. I just watched him get in and catch more. What you pay for crazy. It was like I was like, Is that an actual table? Is that like the day now it's a tiny table. It is a toddler sized Bills table, you know, like the top was a football field. It's got the Bills logo the end zone. No, but it was a table like they got a two year old and slammed him through. I think it was a cake that was on the table, and they put him through the table. Now there's a mattress that they had laid down underneath. But they put a toddler to a table like a big play. For me. It's crazy. I mean, you see, like there's times, give the visual Have you ever seen times where somebody's got a little kid, and they're teaching them to swim and they got the floaties on And then, like, all right, little buddy, Here you go. You're gonna learn to swim. No, like, you know, like, Yeah, Whatever. You just chuck, the kid. That's what it looked like. I mean, these kids just sitting there like just doing two year old things and it can just blow up bone right to the delight. I want Children. Like how great was that video yourself? I'm not going to say what I really want to say because you know I might get yelled at. But if you have a child, and this is what you do with your child Just leave your child out of it. You know if you want to, like, have adults make decisions and adults and they want to set tables on fire and put themselves through them and drink to you Get alcohol poisoning. Go ahead. But don't involve a child. I mean, really, it was It was really it. Just the kid looks so young, and I don't know the thing is the table right? Like I just all of my questions around the table. It isn't a actual metal table. Do you rig it so that it's easier to collapse? Yeah, probably just so you're throwing the kid on the table? It was just it was. It was shocking, but that's that's just part of it. There was another bill's video where this guy and this is a full grown adult. He went through a flaming table. Hey, was it was on fire. The guy went through the table that was on fire continued to be on fire and then had to be put out in the snow by a bunch of his friends like it was nuts. It was just it was great. That's exactly what these are The bills all that Twitter loves, by the way, they love them. I'm one of those people, so they're basically like, you know, Jack ass for NFL tailgate. And it's like, Oh, yeah, I know. We all miss this for 17 weeks. He I'm sure we did. Yeah, Who needs this in their life? I'll come on. It's created a stage. People die like People who are not like, you know, trained to do this, By the way, there are actually people who were trained to go through flaming tables. Yes, they're called stuntman anyway. Who really needs this in their life that they decide in the middle of a pandemic no less. Let's all gather Let's light it up light a table with layer fluid and soak it up real good and just, you know, throw John through it while it's on fire. Awesome! Great. For killing your brain cells. I'm not going through a table, my flaming table myself. Maybe you could convince me to go through regular table. I think under what circumstances would you allow drunk people to put you through a table? Well, depends Help drunk, I would You have to be like I mean beers deep. My tolerance is going down quite a bit, And that's why it's the only one I was. I was a little slow today for for a lot of reasons, but The table like Yeah, I don't know. Maybe maybe. You know, this is all we needed our lives to have back. Yeah, it was great. We really missed this. Yes. Idiots putting themselves through tables. Yes. Great. They choose to do it. Okay. Don't involve Children that well, Okay. The toddler one was like a little quiet. I was laughing a lot, and I watched it 20 times. And so I got a kick out. It seems like the kid was fine. But yeah. I'll say this, like the fan experience in Buffalo is crazy, and I love that about them. It's their people that love it. It's a community is showing up in the tailgate, eating some food, drinking a beer and going into the ballpark. Well, it mixed with the W W E and became something beautiful. It Z. Why do people need this in their life? Well, here's the thing. Here's what happened. You know why? Because they've been irrelevant for 20 years, and now they're in a playoff game. And we were so relevant for 20 years that we felt the need to do this lunacy. Well, I wonder when it started. That's really my question is when did they actually start going through tables like this? Is this a recent development like they just start doing this? And if you're a bills fan, and you know this thing I would love to hear from you. 855212 For 2 to 7 because I have no idea how that went, but it feels like you're getting likes and retweets. You're going through tables. It's like, Well, maybe we should keep going through tables like it seems like a fuels itself. But I would love to know 855212. 4 to 27 infants. Quinn by the way, conjoined show on Twitter at its Vince Quinn. That's all one word at its Vince Quinn and I didn't actually get to talk about Josh Allen in the game. I would love to do that. "Off of that ride and you almost have to feel determined. That, you can make an impact that could. Shape society. I mean, and it seems like it does a very good job of portraying that you can have that big of an impact which I think is obviously the goal they had in mind so EILLY I. Leave that right always feeling pumped up. And ready to tackle something big to you. Your Anti. Along those same lines you know, I, think about not only going on the ride, but then teaching about world history to and like all the little details that go into all the side stories and all of the obstacles that had to be overcome and I think you know for us if we were to apply it to detour like all of the things that we've overcome to get to where we are and the things that we're still pushing towards to reach our goals I mean, I think it's a good parallel and is a good way to kind of look ahead at maybe you know whatever it is that you are determined to do. So my next one in the parks was dinosaur. which it's honestly it's kind of the same thought process. Some of these others are on the same topic. Dr Seeker presents you with this challenge that he wants you to participate in. It does seem impossible. It does seem impossible and you. You don't play the active role that you do as much in spaceship earth or in space under span. Or mania but you. It's definitely seems insurmountable and you have to take the steps necessary necessary to achieve the goal which is getting. Alydar back to. The base when you present. Back to the to the lab. Yeah IT'S A lab. Yeah. Can you imagine the lab guy who found Alydar the first one? I mean hopefully it's you find him. Right? I mean. That's your goal. Get Out of the car and go find Alydar. I've never found him. I haven't either but I can imagine it wouldn't be too hard to find him using dinosaurs of Alan. Do you. Oh. I didn't understand what you said. It I I do I mean I think. It fits with a challenge and even when things look hopeless and you're kind of roaming around in the dark and it's kind of chaotic you know there's always if you keep pushing right, there's always that possibility that you're going to. Get what you want you're gonNA reach your goal. So I think not letting some of those setbacks or of those big challenges scare you away. That's kind of what dinosaur it could be like what's next on your list next on my list is carousel progress. So for this one, I was mostly thinking about you know walt his vision you know if you think about Carrizo, progress and what it is there's a great big beautiful tomorrow. You know I think when you have that determination. No matter which context you put determination into at feel like it falls into that where you are trying to create something better you're trying to you know move yourself or word, and you're always building upon what you did last like I. Don't think in any situation that I can think of you are determined to just stay the same. You know I mean it's not much of a goal. So when I think about Carousel of progress. Even. Though it could use a little bit of love. If I look. Just, the foundation for what it is I. Think it fits very well into determination and not looking back. You just gotTa keep going well, and if you look back to the definition that we shared of the firmness of purpose I, think that's another one that you leave that attraction feeling like you have a purpose. A purpose that you know that there's a better frontier ahead and like you said, then once you in history of how. Huge and impactful that attraction was for Walton. The imagine ears it just adds a whole different layer to it as well. Yeah I mean just looking at the future. And whatever your end goal might be in the non strength from that and that's a really hard thing to do because. So many things get they're not you other people's opinions. Maybe cost you know we talked about making. This possible. All the things that we wanted to do for detour took us a long time because cost kind of gone away and you know there's a lot of other factors that I feel like you could let stop you or you could just kind of look past him and hone in on what you WanNa do and that's very impactful. Last one on my list is referred Planet Watch. And I think it again to me, it hits home purpose. Of that. You. Lever Figgis Planet Watch if you've done everything, you can do back there, which actually takes you longer than most people realize. There's more to do in normal park operation. It's more than petting goats. Really Fun to pet goats I seeing the chicken or seeing the chicken that is now famous because Disney plus. But I think refuguees planet encapsulates so much about what we love about animal kingdom I coulda went with Maharaja. Again or the girl evolves drill release said those we've said those almost every week. I feel like, Rafiki. Planet. Watch you you leave there. Knowing that there are steps that you can apply to your own life to drive home a purpose of conservation and appreciating nature and appreciating the other living beings around you. and. I. Think it's absolutely determination written all over it. I, really like that I. Don't think I ever would have come up with that one on my own an island love animal kingdom. But that is that's like a completely different kind of determination that I would have thought of you. No I mean I guess it just goes to show that you can take this. One emotion and you can put it into. So many different categories like something I mean something like conservation and saving the planet little things like recycling that you can do. That they really do key in on like that. So the next category is at home. So what are some ways that you can use Disney to drive home determination? So my mind automatically goes to TV and movies I'm interested in if you can think of things outside. Of TV. Shows. Movies. But I. Think I'm curious if this is on your list, I think it has. It's the most determined move. You could possibly find is tangled. Oh I know that I never even crossed my mind, but that's true. I mean she is she has a goal she wants to see those lanterns. Well a goal, a dream dream sounds more. Disney the goal I guess fits with what we're talking about but she definitely pursues that no matter her emotions the scary things that she's faced new people she encounters, and ultimately you know that kind of sets her free. Pun intended, but there we go is that's her free and. Able to have this life that she never. Expected for herself I think if you're not inspired to drive home alive purpose after watching tangled then. You need to do some soul-searching honestly because I think it just has everything written about it. There is so much stacked against her puzzle. And she takes so many steps to build.

"But. Anyway. So anytime, there's a baby animal Born I think that they should name it Rafiki so yet. So. Anyway. So that. Brings us to our Disney who's who character and today I have got? Someone that. Is Synonymous. With Morocco Sophie. And I picked them because I knew we were going to talk about Morocco. Hemi is say I say him? Yes. So I made it easy. I'm going to go with Aladdin. You're correct. So Aladdin is a street rat who dreams of having more. Now, Eighteen Aladdin has been on his own since he was two years old. When his mother was abducted by bandits. Aladdin lives on the streets of Agra with his monkey friend. Abu. The to do what they need to do to survive. which usually main stealing food from street vendors Aladdin. Fingered in fast on his feet, he has to be to stay ahead of the palace cards. Aladdin's world is turned upside down when he is tricked by the sultans vizier the evil Jaffar. into stealing a magical lamp. With the help of the genie in the Lamp Aladdin Manages to Defeat Jafaar and win the heart of Princess Jasmine. These days. Aladdin the Sultan Palace home. and. I have two pieces of Digital Sophie? Did you know that whenever Aladdin in disguise as Prince Ali lies the plume on his hat falls in covers his face. I think I heard that somewhere but I don't think I remembered it. So No, I will say that I did not know. Okay. And When he is disguised as print Sally Aladdin where shoes But when dressed US HIMSELF Aladdin is always barefoot. Yep. So that's my Disney who's who character for today. And then the last thing I want to share with us is our Walt Disney quote. and. In this quote while is talking about family. He says the important thing is the family if you can keep the family together and that's the backbone of our whole business catering families. That's what we hope to do is to keep the family together. So. I think that's a great quote and I think it plays well in what we're trying to do here and what we're doing just whenever any family wants to go to Disney, that's what they're looking to do is to keep that family and keep those memories Golan for just a little bit longer. 'cause we all know that our children grow up and they get older and they have to move out but this is one way to enjoy those times with them so. Our right. So that wraps us up for this week. I just WANNA say Sophie. Thank you as always for. Co hosting with me I. Think we're having a lot of fun with this.

There is a baby gorilla carry. You should look this up. Ah baby Gorilla New baby Gorilla has been born at Hogle Zoo. No, really, just a tiny little thing. There's a picture of him in the paper today, and the mom is holding the baby gorilla and they hold them like Humans hold their babies. They're like people, You know, they're like they cradle them. And, you know, I was looking at a book the other day that has a close up of this wasn't a gorilla, but it was in Iran attack. And it had a close up of this Ranga Tang's face an older male And he was just kind of looking into the distance. And there's there's a lot going on there in that face sure is a lot off that that that is a sentient thinking creature who's considering the universe about him. And if you if you go to the zoo, and you look in the face of the gorillas, which I find heartbreaking I can't do it because they're in captivity. But if you just look into their eyes Those those are pretty close to a cz. Muchas humanizes. You'll see. It's just amazing. It's amazing to me. But we put him in a zoo or or we have poachers who killed him. And Matthew McConaughey says he's gonna turn his journals into way. Into a book that he's going to publish. It's going to be called, all right. You made that up. I did. It's been, key said. I've been keeping journals since I was since the first time I learned to ride Not could make our little baby Matthew McConaughey is just a little kid. The poacher who killed the rare silverback gorilla Rafiki is jailed for 11 years

"A poacher who confessed to killing a rare silverback gorilla in Uganda in June. Has been sentenced to 11 years in prison. We could just leave him in there for his life. As far as I'm concerned on charges of illegally entering a protected area and killing Rafiki, the silverback gorilla, he was the leader of a group of more than a dozen guerrillas. Known as the new HQ, Ringo Troop, which had been popular with visitors to the area. People like to come and sit and get us quote kind of as close to them as they can and just watch them. "He also gives a shout at the same time to John a very successful businessman. Right, so he knows who's lining. His pockets offer show. He takes it from all sides. I guess I. I guess money isn't loyal to anyone. Though, it is not. so yeah, there's definitely an influence that religion has and political ties INTERTWINED WITH THAT let's let's move onto something. possibly a little bit lighter. And let's talk about I I feel like it's tangible enough to bring it up as a discussion point. How big and delicious, you can decide who? let's talk about. Him And the theme of Gossiping. That is so like I watched this call my God I, could name. Five ten people who alive when I grew up like it's just such a vice, it's what else do you do? Do you just sit around waiting for Gaza The people who exactly like that all the dewey's gossip. All they do is just. People's business. And while she just goes above and beyond to be in everyone's. You know some coaches how you have like professional mourners. I feel like. Maybe they don't get paid, but I feel like there are many professional gossipers. As well all, but also at the same time. It was very interesting when Kenema Kenna's MOM said. Mama team does gossip. She never lies. So she kind of become. She's essentially the daily. Mail community! As though. The Nairobi male. Let's go within our will be man. I really appreciated that this film had so much. Depth and it had so many layers. It wasn't just you know. This is a community of Kenyan people, but there were different layers to it, and there were different life experiences, and there were different growth levels. As well. But at the epicenter you always have the gossip is right. all remember when the wanted to go. Wherever because she wanted to know what the news was, and then she found out what the news was. She didn't WANNA, nor Yup with the baby. I'd never man again. We're not targeting..

"Yes, and there was nothing she could do about it There's obviously a lot to say about Mama team and I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree or whatever the Kenyan equivalent is. But in regards to Natasha she she kind of becomes the catalyst of what drives you know, one of the most emotional and one of the most powerful sort of sayings in this film. So I, I do appreciate that it wasn't just out of nowhere similar to was it up to to where it kind of felt a bit tacked on where they had a similar sort of sane tour. All eat series stockton okay. Pennywise is not a fan, but I'm feel free to go listen to. Out It episode, but it does have a similar the same. That's why I brought it up reference from the levels but when we have the scene of Kenan, ziggy being physically assaulted. It is through her jealousy of through her actions and. It is a very interesting poignant soda message which I believe was deliberate How her earn personal vendetta. She used the society against Kenna. Zeki so she had her own vendetta, but she knew that people would feel a certain way about the situation as she used the community against them. She did and I think one of the better things to come out of that is blocks to dinky blocks. Will still chemist friend? And I think that was really pivotal especially when? Can was. Pretty much dumped. All told to go away by ezekie. The only person she could talk to was block ter- because the mom or my God the mom ridiculous. The MOM was really. Was Super Religious and you know how that goes, so let let's stay. Let's say will black because we definitely have a lot to talk about the mom and religion, but I guess you know this. This is a film about love and It might be romantic love in my be. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of like family sort of love and a lot of aspects but black saw. It doesn't even matter. He loves can and I think it's. It feels like that sort of love that you'll always have for her. Regardless of whether that's going to be reciprocated. It was unrequited love Yes so definitely that was the only place that she had to turn. Oh. Yeah, it was and I think because we saw blocks to head called the gay guy he was there right on and I think when when he Kenna he's feeling. Soi outweighed any sort of prejudice that he might hold. But I think also at the same time like it's unfortunate, but if you've grown up in Christian dominated just like. Any sort of religion like SORTA dominated.

Falling and Getting Back Up

"So I felt earlier this week. I was getting out of the shower. And my equilibrium must have been off of consciousness. I fell backwards. I don't think it hurt myself but I've been taking the lead this week. I mean privates about getting older but in the same week somebody that I know I won't say who it is. I don't want them to feel bad. But they fell off their hover board for a little bit. They didn't WanNa get back on the hover board and then they also didn't want to go outside again with it I get it. I still haven't learned to ride a bike doc and partly because I fell off the badly when I was a teen and I just have to get back on. Sometimes it can be hard to get back on because you're afraid of how your past hurt but while we were watching the new lion king. My brother-in-law mentioned there's one line that's missing. That's in the original animated linking. The line. Were Rafiki says Oh oh yes the past can hurt but the way I see it you can either run from it or learn from it and they kind of made me think about when we fall and other physically or not physically early. What happens when we don't want to get back on because you remember that that hurt you remember pain that you feel? You don't WanNa get back into it. The things I've gotten back into because of the pain because of the hurt and because it's the end of the year make me think about this next year. I'm I'm GONNA fall again. Hopefully not physically but I will make mistakes this past year. I left Karaoke doing on twitch things until this past vacation where icing in from an audience three to four times. I did not want to get back into Karaoke. I didn't WanNa make the mistake of failing a song or stuff like that but after doing that Karoki. I've I started doing it again on. Twitter sings in one of the song that's on twitter. Things now is secure. Try everything from Zootopia and one of the lines. I love the secure song long is I won't give up. I won't give out try everything even though I could fail and I love that idea we could fail. We're GONNA fall. Things aren't going to go right and many times. I've failed again doing these podcasts. And you streams things that having Gone Reich on the right way but look at it Renou episode one twenty two tonight tonight. I'll be recording episode. One thirty nine of my gaming podcast protecting a dear friend about has taken twenty eight twenty nine years to finally see what what am I gives his is in this world and how I can contribute back so this week in this year when we fall when we fail. Let's get right back up. Let's continue at it again. Because Rock Isley. The person that fell off the board by the end of the day doing so much better than they were the beginning of the day and before anybody says this is not one of those words. That's going to catch on fire. We got a lot of the reviews.

"Imagine and first off when i quit my corporate job i told people hey i'm quitting my job to become an entrepreneur that itself. You get some really weird looks. Some people are constantly like immediately. Are you sure you wanna do that. It was going to say you get a lot of not sad is that you know that look when someone is like processing what you're saying in there like hm third bout to ruin their life you know it's just like their wheels are turning and they're trying to comprehend what you're saying but they're they're not because that's you know it's not your typical route. We both went to college. We both had these like career paths. You know obviously i'm still teaching but like we had this plan. You know we live in this little neighborhood. All our friends do this. You know similar things and then we're jumping off the path. That's not normal yup so imagine we went through that and we were still kind of trying to process that that and i i dare say we were still sort of healing from that because it did hurt us when people weren't like jumping up and down to support us and then we go through the process of hey you know that business that we told you eight months ago that we were starting ditching that and i'm gonna go get the job and but also i'm gonna pursue a podcast and not just any podcast at disney podcast and that was really kind of the first time that i had publicly shared with our friends really outside of you. Katherine that like i love disney like it is just going going to appease me. Yeah like it's yeah that's. That's one of the biggest things that people say. Oh catherine really going to disney right like why do you keep going with her and like alluding to things like that but then it started to click in people's mind like actually we love it equal. It's a niche will so so that was the biggest thing is that we we got really embarrassed. I think is the correct word. Yeah i mean i think when you're when you're going through those big life changes and to people on the outside and even to ourselves. We say it all the time like when you look like you don't know what you're doing. The last thing you want is for other people to point out that you don't know what you're doing because like we know like you just want to scream like no. We don't know what we're doing but we're trying and this is something that we want to do and some people get it. Eh the disney community gets it that a lot of people a lot of other people. Just don't yeah and that's been something that we've had to overcome yeah. We've had to mentally i. I still don't like go around telling everybody that we have a disney podcast. It's a little bit uncomfortable for me not to still talk about it to be honest yeah when people will like find out about it or i guess on instagram may be at pops up as you know to. Our friends sounds like oh. This is something you should follow. It's not that we're embarrassed in what we do. We love what we do. It's just. I don't think we're comfortable talking about about it again. Yeah be you know like for example. We're in a group for our church. Some of those those people found our podcast and they're like oh we listen to some of those episodes and you'd like it's just a weird feeling you know because you know they're not like the disney person but you also want to thank them for listening but it's also like you're not really my target but you appreciate it but you're also uncomfortable by it. At this point yeah. It's like it makes me just think about when we talked to lizzie from the wonderful thing about lizzie and she talks about being a bubble popper wearing the opposite so when people outside of our disney bubble bring up the podcast or detour. We kind of like twitch a little like we do. We're not in that realm. We don't know what to do yeah yeah. It's not like you can ask somebody like oh. Do you like space mountain disneyworld world or disneyland better like it's hard for us to compensate flips switches that we have to flip yeah so all all of this is to say is that key teaches us a wonderful lesson that we've been applying to the situation for us so what does rafiki same eh so refugees big quote that we focused on was passed can hurt but the way i see it you can either run from it or learn from it and and obviously as you watch the lion king that's exactly what symbol did he was running full speed ahead not looking back <hes> <hes> he wanted no part in what happened in his past and i think for a lot of people whether you know you are call yourself opened entrepreneur. If you're starting you know a blog and instagram whatever you're putting yourself out there and you're starting new and it's really easy to let you know past failures are upset or anything that's happened in your life kind of define your future feature and i think fees just trying to say like that's not how it has to be. You know you can run from an it's definitely the easy thing to do would would've been really easy for us. Personally to just close up shop brennan could have gone back to miserable healthcare job and and we would just keep chugging along but that's you know not what does not where we found fulfillment yeah yeah. I lost my train of thought because i'm just thinking about this because we're still we're still trying nine to wrap our minds around how we convey this to other people and i think you know the second part of her fifties. Quote were says you can neither run from it or learn from it. What do you think we've learned from this kind of last eighteen sixteen to eighteen months to me. I think it's we have to focus on us and we have to focus on what makes us happy and for me that serving serving other people and it's also a disney so serving people within the disney community is like that's my sweet spot like ah i can do it all day long and it doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense to anybody else yeah. That's definitely a conversation that we have a lot where you know we. You have to have those meanings together like listen like it's kinda like you're giving yourself a pep talk. You know we're doing this for us. We're doing this because it makes us happy and that's definitely been a learning curve and i think you know obviously we're still learning. That's okay that our path of of happiness is different than a lot of other people's you know a lot of our friends can be happy doing their nine to five job and you know they feel the film it from that and we're happy for them. They found that <hes> so. I think it's just learning really that even though we have similar backgrounds grounds you know it okay to be different. It's okay to not follow the path that has been so nicely laid laid out for you. You know i completely agree. This was kinda therapeutic for us. I think it is. I mean an end. It's it's weird because we're gonna post this and publish it and share it with you know whoever chooses to listen but right now in this moment. It feels like we're just talking to teach other which is probably our able to do this. Don't don't make this weird. Don't ruin this for me. No but i agree. It is a a weird thing but i also know there's so many people who have felt things like that. The people don't get disney or fill in the blank. Whatever your different passions are. It's hard for people from the outside to understand yes so i think it just kind of brings us back to you know even if running is your first instinct like it was for simba. I mean you might try. Try to run away from it honestly <hes> but i think eventually you have to face it head on and eventually it's going to catch up to you because if you've ever run any kind of distance you've gotta stop. Eventually you know you can't run forever and whatever it is that you're running from. I think it will catch up and i think when you're forced to face ahead on and you know you're gonna you're gonna learn from. It and it's going going to bring you that successor that film it or that happiness. Are that creative outlets for closure closure. Yeah what do you what do you you. Do you have a defining moment of when you think it caught up to us i do. I can let you think for a second. I think it's win. Those people who had invested invested in discover my zip and our idea we didn't necessarily close the door with all those people and tell them that we ended it and when they came and started asking about it and we had to kind of had these messages in inbox that we wanted to ignore and say like like we moved on. We're doing something different. That was the i would have liked to just never never have addressed. It never kind of addressed it but i was you know i. I was put in a situation where i had to yeah. I think maybe just a for me. It probably would have been having that conversation with our parents because i think we're both people pleasers at the core and obviously our our parents and our friends. Those are the people that you always want to look your best for. I guess which is silly 'cause they've all seen you at your worst but i think having those conversations and just saying like this is what we're doing. I think putting it all out there. Was you know a weight kind of lifted off your shoulders i but then it really allowed us to not hold back anymore and do just do it. Yeah yeah so we have a few more thoughts. We're gonna take a quick break from our partners will come back and share those and ramble on some more with these guys so this episode is brought to you by the photo auto reserve. You've heard us talk about it as we are such big fans of the work that our friend cure certain and the wonderful team of photographers doing disney content creators to up photo game and get five free disney photos to boost your social media head over to report the magic dot com forward slash detour especially six photos so there's a bonus this one for you say oh i miss read. "I was like I hope someday I act that well. When I grow up I wanna be like you especially like I'm like you? I grew up on that film watching that V._H.. It was like that and Oliver and company where the two I watched the most growing yeah and so knowing Mussa's GonNa type of course it's kind of sad but it didn't hit me until that kid starts arts his emoting of like the Dad and his voice cracks and everything and I was like oh well I'm going to ask you. Did you fuck it. Forget no I'm saying I wasn't expecting to really get into it because I know he dies but then like just hearing that kid had acted out was like I was very impressed shoutout to J._d.. McCurry because like I think we'll it's kind of a Rubio because you know what's happening so it is it's a lot of pressure. I think on these actors to present something in a moat something that you know is coming coming right and you have like an expectation your brain based on memory of like how it goes and so then you do have these actors that they take you on a different emotional train right <hes> because it is a new voice but it's also so they are presenting a little bit of a different way <hes> so but afterwards I did the same thing you did where I watched a bunch of behind the scenes stuff and watching several direct him he was just such a professional like I don't know how old he is exactly but I would guess like eleven eleven or twelve in this kid was just in this booth like so professional someday. I'm going to be as good as I grow up. The only other thing I I had to add was I was really happy that they made <hes> Shansie Chelsea. The HYENA <hes> the the lead woman and I think it's Chelsea is not the same name as the one from <hes> would be yeah but I like that. They made her more the lead than blending in with the rest like it's not it's not the three stooges bridges. It's it's the hyenas yeah well. It's like Queen Queen had <hes> Keegan Michael Key and Andre as comedic relief there so I was glad she wasn't a part of that because there is something to like especially in the animated film were scared word of the heinous I mean be prepared when they're goosestepping little they were yeah but the three of them together I was never intimidated by them and like watching this with Chelsea. I was like I'm actually scared of you like actually terrify refined me as like this is how scare me right like I love bigger and became more of a actual. She was founded opposition to Nala Yeah or Nairobi Nulla. This is not just making up names now yeah her Nala fight at the end there but yeah so I I really appreciated that turn because that was something I never knew I was missing in the original. was that like I should actually be terrified of these high in it. I mean the lions even stand up to him again. There's only one main antagonists in the last year I won and then remain there so I was happy about that. I want to add one more Alfred Alfre Woodard Yahoos in Luke Akagi Lepage and in a heart and soul I I watched wash your first on hearts and souls Robert Engineer back in the day E._M._C. Crash <hes> but I've always been a fan of her. I've always been an so like Whoa like listening to her perform and just like oh like I just need a little bit more of her in live action world or like I don't know I slept on so much. She became the main antagonist in Luke cage which is like Super Dope and I. I just hands down the way you wanted to give shout out to the boy. I WANNA give shout to the to the woman always appreciate it a woman woman <hes> Yeah Oh and. You can wait to be king. I had a fucking bust. Everything sounded great. Yeah everything sounded great and looked great <hes> <hes> like but like that that that number especially that's when I was like one hundred percent in okay I'm I'm into this look nice now. Favorite characters care to side characters. Oh simbone damone. Oh all right easy easy peasy billy. I mean to me <hes> Billy Eichner Eichner have have you WanNa say it I think he stole the show for me just being able to walk that tightrope really well of making his own but not changing the character itself to a point where I'm like. I don't know this character anymore. Katryn Simmons Kazue Jonathan Yeah it was great. I had a cousin who thought he was a woodpecker mashed his beacon to go incoming danger. Yes my shadow yeah. No I think he was that character to a T.. You're right that's Ed believe is just perfect so yeah. <hes> creditors not a character and character the album thing inside characters. Tim owns a psychic yeah yeah yeah. I'll say to Mo- Google yeah. There's not many main guests like scars Simba. It's it's the biggest ensemble feel yeah yeah <hes> scar favorite second Nala sure she's a main but I mean I mean those are the two Asya scar and all and then who's aside side <hes> we'll see it's a tie between them. The field males <hes> uh-huh Sasi probably Zambezia does a solid choice yeah <hes> yeah but I mean I really like knowledge because I know in a weird way. I felt like she had a little bit more agency. She did in this one then Judy and the other one I think of me because of that extended like sneaky hasty scene <hes> where she's hiding in sticking away from the hyenas as well scar because in the first one she just kind of escapes to go get food not really on a mission to do help thing happened eh getting food because they ran out but also I like the little Japan yeah engine cool now qualms qualms Islam's documents no okay. Wow who's up I now I think I'll have the least so I'll go <hes> I'll start off with the first stone so corey and we're talking a little bit about this so they omitted one specific seen specific seen as when Rafiki talks to Simba. It'd be like hey this is the come to Jesus moment of like Hey. I know your father until you knew him. I do know on Baba and this is a Supernet picky thing I can. I think there's differences between different actors obviously and the original source material from the original animated series I mean movie and there's a part with the water that happens and he's like Oh that's just me or reflection and then in the live action says no look harder and then he whips closer he says look closer and then he just whips it up and then the the reflection changes and it gets close to his dad in the animated movie and I it's hard for me to leave this baggage. I know it's my own personal thing the way that the Wiki says it in the enemy look haw and it makes you like really start slowing down and really starting to be in that same meditative trance like transitional feel brassiere. It's kind of like idiot like look at it and it's more of that again knee jerk twenty nineteen like commonsense alley that we need so it kinda struck in a weird way because I remember that very vividly as a child you know who may be in a theater and not knowing what characters what the saying like shut up and look through these things and those are poignant thing that was missed and there's other things like that are like missed for Rafiki and other characters. It's like there's there's so much breakneck speed because it's going based off the pacing of the animated film in such a like in a way that's actually supposed to be admired in such way because it's like carbon copies Charlotte isn't it isn't because they also add new scenes songs so like it's like psycho Gus Van Sant Gus who did that <hes> the film year that not hitchcock the remake. It's a shortfall remake Gus van Sant Anyway <hes> so he did a shot for shot remake and it was a fifty fifty split in the audience fifty percent of it loved it because it was like no much they remembered everything. Fifty percent hated it because it wasn't anything new and that's I feel like that's where a lot of this falls. I mean I think the tough thing to do like like word for word or frame by frame remakes or a tough thing to do especially if they're animated or live action live action and in a weird way I don't know what it is going to be on the adaptation episode so like with watchmen there was a similar thing right but the thing is that's never been done before right so I don't give it that same flack when it's like two mediums yeah exactly it's causes that would consider this. The same ends so it's like well. It's it's a visual medium. You put you rewind the movie. There's a beginning middle and end and it's and it's a two hour long period so yeah that was like a thing that I was like. I felt very like Oh. They missed that part. If they're GONNA go out of their way to try to recreate the opening sequence recreate the death scenes like recreate they picked certain things to to be very true to and they pick things that were not and I I just don't agree with the filmmakers that that part or the writers or the actors choice to how to say it yeah <hes> I can elaborate a little bit more about that scene particularly because that's also the scene where after he has the vision thing he like and then like fireflies come out of this dust wind comes away and then retirees refusing oh the weather's changing supposed to act as if he doesn't know what the Hell's going on and then he says the whole line he says <hes> we'll ask the past KUNA montage and then there's the two conflicts of <unk>. It's in the past that you don't worry about it and the Rafiki lesson is is the past you're supposed to learn from it or you can just go on your life running away from it and then he hits them with the stick which we don't see too and said that hurts <hes> but that's in the past it doesn't doesn't matter it's still hurt and then he's like you. GotTa run from or learn from it and he goes to hit him again in some dodges like see you learn from it yeah and then take your stick and then he does and then he takes it and runs away and it's a big like Oh my God he's like that's the lesson that in my the mid way live for for the past as America run away from it the entire time and then there's a there's a point to that in like it Rafiki kind of you know Guru Wisdom's X. Dais X. Mocking. Is that where it's like. Hey you have to go back even like knowledge like hey we need you. You have to go back. There's a sense of duty to go back but it's more like your personal. Story is now personal change within him. Yeah it's getting reflected because of the guard of the old pass of Rafiki and that was like one thing I really liked him. The this one where you saw Rafiki and Zaza see the entire pride hard rock owned asunder and it's like this is the old guard seeing their new kingdom you loved go away but then they get that with their feet because you kind of just like Simba's alive and that's it but then you don't get that later on happening where like he's mentoring simple for like six minutes yeah and they don't have this in the and I was like really really like sad because I was like why am I going back yeah because his dad told him to go well and that's it. He says come back and he's like no and so there's no reason for go back he said right now and then when he it goes zero Viki is like you don't know what Your Dad said this and then he gets his vision thing and there's Dad said return to the circle life retainment reclaimer remember who you are and that's it so we like he has again no internal lesson to be tight like I should go back because of has hurt me because there's also a part in the enemy to like. I have to go face my past and then that's when the whole like the past data but so a lot of these I got it..

Disney, Nala Donald Glover And James Earl Jones discussed on Bald Movies

"Latest live action cash grab the Lion King directed by Jon Favreau and you know I never would have guessed that the man who breathed life into a multi billion dollar franchise but taking a third tier marvel property like iron man and taking passion for source material I I never thought that he you would brought that same passion to the Lion King and you know what I was right because in my opinion this is like the most of all the pointless Disney remakes this is the most pointless and the one that comes off the shabby shabby as compared to its source material Jim. What did you think and maybe talk about your personal relationship with the Lion King of any so I think the Jon Favreau had quite the passion for the source material because he just recycled it and not in like the way where you I don't know take something you have? It's old fashioned into something new. That's useful in a different way. This was the lion king like this is the most Lion King Lion King movie <hes> outside outside of the Lion King I mean the thing is is is the lion king. Only all of the animals were injected. The Boat Docks Yeah Animation <hes> that's. That's the only thing that was different about this movie in any way right. There's one hint of new song none of the plot points or any different than the lion king you remember from ninety four. It's all the same it's just a it's just a cross aboard worse version yeah and completely like you said unnecessary. I think this is like the thing I liked about. Aladdin is Kinda took it a direction and modernized it updated five the problem. The parts were little creaky and little stale where we've moved on as a society they've kind of you know propped it up and they didn't try to like out Robin Williams Robin Williams on the genie whereas this it's like. I don't understand how the animation tests came back for. These animals father wasn't like okay we gotta ditched his documentary approach and have these lions smile. Give him some fucking eyebrows house allow on the show some gene grief and rage because we know I've seen the lion king many many many many times and there's a couple of scenes where you're you're geared up to anticipate and it's exactly. The same lines exactly the same framing except for Simba's faces a grim frozen mask that is capable of showing anything other than way honestly my house cats more expressive. I that's the thing that really really surprised me and I saw a listen problems with that in like some of the trailers I saw but like I don't know I mean it's this isn't a bad film in fact honestly the first five minutes. I actually started thinking well. Maybe I'm wrong because it gave me the exact same goosebumps that intro of the Classic Lion King Circle Life Yeah <hes> but even then it's like there's a couple of parts or like you know like there's a couple of things that you you know you can do in animation like when you blink and step forward and sun you can have a baby draft. Blankets is in this. I mean if they did that with his baby. Draft who the fuck knows because baby drafts don't blink in the sun it turns out it's almost it felt like one of those Old Walt Disney movies like <hes> <hes> what is the journey home or whatever where the actually take a real poppy in a real cat kitten and or they have like little bound very tightly homered ban yeah they make a movie around around like their natural expressions and stuff <hes> but there's just I don't know I mean I didn't really pay any attention to the casting like I didn't know anybody <hes> and there's <hes> great great cat like you know the Simba Nala Donald Glover beyond say knowles stats a fucking dynamite combination like John Oliver as the Domo's as zoo is pretty inspired casting the return of James Earl Jones James Jones. You can't do better than that. I thought that <hes> Billy Eichner as to Moan was really good eye Eric Andre I know seth th- Rogan is Okay Yeah Eric Andrea one of the hyenas I I mean I said it's just I mean we can talk about it the scene by scene point by point and the trailer earn the spoiler section like do I want to on this one because if you've seen the Lion King you've seen the entirety of this movie. It's just like they changed a damn thing. No they range all all the life yeah. Apparently the animators didn't get to note that the scene. Can you feel the love tonight actually takes place at night not at noon just many many references to it being evening and being nights and then it. Blend smoothly into another night scenes really pivotal and what the fuck what the fuck why are they why are they having animated these lions in broad daylight. I don't know because you can. They're more expressive in the day. I don't ever more expressive in the day. That's the only thing I think of is the other thing is speaking of that. I defy you to tell any of those lionesses apart <hes> yeah lights off in the cartoon version. There are subtle variations in color facial expression oppression. I mean they're all kind of unique individuals. At least you know the Nairobi and Nala and the ones actually have speaking roles this like they literally all look the same and when Simba's fighting scarred there's many time I lost track of WHO Simba who was scar and they found it hilarious that these battles are so bloodless. I don't know how you get a name like scar. If nothing can cut your skin I know 'cause like it'd be like it's cannon that Mu Fossa awesome fucked him up the part of his ear off and really hideously scarred him so but yeah you can't do that when <hes> although to realistic you can't do I was kind of put off by the mature subject matter. They're they're. They're saying the F. A. R._T.. Word heard they are in case. Let that slide through yeah yeah really risk and is this P._G.. I don't know it probably is it wouldn't be stupid like whatever the whatever the original was here. It's the same because it is is the same so so. Maybe I'm a little harness movie but I actually this was the very first Walt Disney animated movie I ever saw because I my mom was a religious nut job the type of religion I mean there's lots of different ways to be a religious just not job as a parent but <hes> her particular nutjob Orie was magic anything magic and I'll add in allow <hes> sleeping beauty no little rain when the fucking sea he which get Outta here those legs are mad. I remember the look my sister and I gave each other when Rafiki started doing medicine Monkey Shit and we're like Oh God and my mom's is started twitching like us a spiritism. Does a spiritism like she's please do not storm out of that we we. We begged her to take her come on the line game. There's no magic there's no warlock in this fucking monkey starts. Doing you know the the magic adjacent shit he starts doing like some kind of weird monkey and melon based divination a nation he starts doing martial arts karate at the end which is the other kind of spiritism adjacent but it was near and dear to my heart because I that's the very first and I remember just like just like being just completely amazed at the opening act. And really moved when Fossa dies and like also we had that movie I was the only Disney animated movie for a long long time that we had on V._H._S. and my brother and sister and I kind of wore it out over the course of a summer so I'd fucking love this the Super N._S.. Lion King Okay. I don't think I ever made it past the third level because it's freakishly hard but there's a lot I have a lot of affection for this source material and Dan I just to me they should have cleaned it up that those prints as shiny as they could make him they should've completely redone to sound and just re released it because this is just you know Lion King's Tinton movie. This is like six attitude execution of that movie. This is a high school musical version of the Broadway version of the Lion King. I could see that yeah. I didn't find it offensive. I found that it was in in maybe everything except for the expressive -ness of the characters was just as effective as the original was but yeah it was entirely unnecessary. This is a fairly obvious cash crap. I didn't didn't feel that way coming out of Aladdin. I know a lot of people didn't feel that way coming out of beauty and the beast and you know the the Dumbo did People Watch Dumbo. Nobody watched dumbo right everywhere. I heard it was pretty fucking shitty. Yeah I didn't see it. I didn't either her because I heard it was pretty shitty and guess what you've got Milan coming down the pike. I don't I've never seen Milan. I mean it's a fine. It's it's it's probably one of the lesser of the new golden age of Disney like it's kind of their into Pocahontas level level where it's like animation still amazing songs that nearly as catchy core concept not as solid and I've heard that they're actually a skewing the songs more or less in Milan and just like a straight like a straight drama weird. I could be wrong on that but I just. I don't know I it. It's it's not it's so cynical. I said cash grab because it's it's not it's not just a blatant redundant cash grab. It's just a pace. These does relentless Klis pace that they're that they're doing them into. I don't understand why we need. Five remakes of Disney live action Disney movies in a single year and I don't even know if it might be more than that like. I don't know if they've got. They're going to sneak something out. Pass them along before Christmas. I don't know I don't know they just cast a little mermaid. I I don't know how far that's that that's behind but who's playing Sebastian. I don't know okay. That's my biggest question about that movie. Maybe Ahmed Best Okay Yeah sure thanks Yeah Sebastian yeah he so Whoopi Whoopi in the under the sea yeah love song so I got some more stuff to say 'cause I got. I actually Kinda WanNa actually KINDA WANNA break it down so you might say because he's keep on saying that it's shot for shot for Lion King and that's my biggest problem is is that I don't think it is. I think they're I mean they try not shot but beat for beat. Story is one hundred percent every bit of the staging is is noticeably inferior and worse than than the than the the original and some of the things that like what they did to be prepared is a God damn criminal travesty. That's one of my favorite songs from the Lion King and I've never seen a more dispirited parroted punting of a musical number then than I have. I don't know Jimmy Nicholson who I considered. The foremost expert on Disney films on the Internet suggested that there's also a muted quality due to vocal performances like everything everyone's kind of like instead of like even James Earl Jones instead of just like because I remember I I can I can hear in my head exactly how he says. Nobody messes is with the year old band or I can. I can hear like they. They just didn't quite nail it and her theory is they had to have all the actor scale back because if they were as a motive as the original lion king it would look wildly out of place with the animation style and it's like the one thing that you could have gone ten for ten and let like Donald Glover and beyond say and James Will Jones uncork and actually you know she would tell Chew Hotel Jia for <hes> who I think is an amazing actor. He got the world's most laid back quiet unassuming scar and it's just a shame because he's trying to follow giant. Jeremy Irons plays one of the the all time Great Disney villain voices and it just. I don't know

"He he made me laugh as a kid because he was so crazy and kooky. So Rafiki was my favorite scar. Terrified me that part of the movie I would end up huddled under my blanket and hiding from the screen. I love The Lion King so much. So that still when I was very young. My father took me to see it on Broadway to this day. My father's still mad at me for not completely. Remembering it, I have a vague memory of giant elephants walking down the aisles. But that is pretty much it so notes any parents out there. Don't take your children to a Broadway show of they're too young to remember it. I have never heard the end of it. You should go again because it's awesome. It is awesome. And it is still on Broadway. I personally travels all the time. Yeah. In cleveland. Like now, I think in a week or something that's your homework Meghan to go and see this again, go see The Lion King on Broadway. Again. I personally like to believe that my little Griffin door heart is the reason. I love The Lion King so much. But hey, you never know. It's a great movie. Oh, that's awesome. That's so funny that that's how maybe that's how I need to wake myself up because I hate wake up process on what I need to do. Now until I don't know forever is just play Taylor SWIFT's reputation stadium or on Netflix early in the morning, and I'll wake up and watch it she'd spring right out of bed. I would. Yeah.
