"It to Wall Street, and it's a political move. There's no due process. There's no what do they call it fair by fair play or something? There were all these terms. I didn't even understand, But the point is they're doing it's October 16th. Hundreds of homeless men are goingto and even had a homeless guy on the call. And he was showing Dearing he I guess his nickname is the homeless hero. I think his name was shams. He was like, we don't want to move either. We don't We don't know the Radisson Hotel. We don't know if I die. Where can we go? Is there a park we can go to Is there a place they don't know. You know what they all kept saying on this call, and I don't know, one from the other. I don't know who any of these people you know, they kept saying Deblasio will not respond to this. He won't answer. He won't Hey, won't accept our invitation to give us an explanation. There was no process. There was no notice. The one thing that unites Democrats and Republicans in New York City is contempt for this. Really awful mayor. He is such a disaster. And they all know it. And now the chickens come home to roost on an issue like this and interested in interestingly enough AA lot of people in the resident the neighborhood. They want to try to help these homeless people. They're heartbroken for the homeless people are going to get uprooted from the Lucerne hotel and plopped into the radish in in about in a two week period of time. There was this lady Jocelyn. She was the lady that had to defend it. She was the she was the villain on this call last night. When she was trying to explain why they kept saying Why so fast? Why do you have to rush this? Why, in the middle of a pandemic, she never would answer. She refused to answer. She kept changing the subject and and then, when they would go back to, well, the homeless people are humans. But we know they're human. So what are you going to do with all the kids? You're going? You're going to potentially Up Uprooting 300 Englishmen of this is happening thousands of people all over the country, You know, I mean all over the city of New York, so I wanted to share that with you because watching that, and I'm sure that zoom call is available on YouTube for posterity. If you want to look it up, you want to watch it? It's fascinating because you've got this crossroads of progressives who don't want to be cruel or or I mean, you know mean spirited, though the homeless but of course, again don't want him in their neighborhood. Isn't there a place you can put people who need have mental health issues who are alcoholics who are drug addicts who have really tough challenges in life. Other than a luxury hotel in.

So he walks in, and you can't Miss John. He's an albino. He'll be waiting for you. He walks in, and he said everybody in their 50 albinos there in the lobby. Was like Albino convention. And meanwhile, John Wall she was just starting his tenure at ESPN. God, I love that story. Can't missing. Mike go in there. He's in the lobby. They're all out by news here. And Walsh loves John Wall's loves telling the story, too. Like when it came to albino humor, Walsh always had some funny lines about them. Let me couple of phone calls in here. Walt in Cincinnati joins us. Hi, Walt. What do you have for me today? Hey, Dan, First time caller, 75 years old, five foot 9 to 12. I would like for you to wish my Oh, dishonest 50th birthday. Today's name is Mark a mark. Happy 50th birthday. And you got a great dad who called into Ah, wonderful radio show, So I hope you have a great day. Thank you, Walt for calling in Ah, Andy in Tennessee on the program. Hi, ending what's on your mind today, then 581 70 Yeah, so I actually went to the also raised last night. I had a great time. Can't complain about going to see some live sports and racing will say that they do do some adjustments for crowds. Seeding was fine. I felt spaced out. Let me mention here, Annie. We're talking about Bristol Motor Speedway, and they had around 20,000 fans there for a place that holds over 120,000. What were the rules when you went into the NASCAR race event? So the rules where is when you go to go into the ticket booth? You have to have a mask on and then you have a mask on why you walked through the concourses. And then when you sit down, you can take off your mask. Now I'll say yes, when you sit down and you see you feel pretty comfortable. It's pretty spaced out in that track. But when you walk through the concourses, it was pretty crowded. I mean, there was a lot of people not wearing masks, and they didn't have a lot of special business thing when you're waiting in line for concessions. And everything like that, But I think once they go towards any NFL stadiums, I mean, they're not do may be a lot less than 20,000. It can get crowded This concourses. Yeah, thank you, Andy. We were wondering about that. Where, and I thought this was going to be maybe an underplayed story because 20,000 fans at a sporting event And you know it's outside NASCAR event at night, and I wondered what happens once you get to your seat where you're allowed to take off your mask if you're going to have a college football scenario Can you put in 25 or 30,000 fans in the stadium that seats 100,000? Can Michigan put in 30,000 fans safely? Can Tennessee volunteers put in 30 40,000 in a place that holds over 100,000? This is what I'm curious about. Can we do it? Do it safely smartly, And then maybe we do get fans that go to sporting events, but I just didn't know. Once you got into the concourse, you went up to get a beer. Get something to eat, and everybody's up there without a mask on Therein lies the problem. But NASCAR with 20,000 fans, which I thought was surprising. Robin Florida joins us Hi, Rob, What's on your mind today? Hey, Dana. You doing 61 a hefty 2.5 bills. Um Hey, I one of that kind of time in on the MBA defense discussion. I got a couple numbers and a quick story first defend my guy Harden. He's constantly in the top 10 and blocks and steals among guards every year. He's one of the post defenders. An MBA percentile wise, but a quick story doesn't just harden specific, but I played in a church league. I'm not an athlete, As I said 61 2.5 And so, but we had a guy who played on our team is a good friend of mine. Playing the jet Li played overseas hasn't injuries that derailed in MBA potential career, but he scored all our point every game that we played. He would go for 70 points a game and the rest of us would have ate. But when it came to the defense of side I was past regarding the best player, not because I was best baseball player, but he was so tired. I see in the N B a a lot of death. A lot of guys are asked to carry the load. Offensively. These volumes shooters like Luca. Like Trey Young, like harden not so much now anymore with rust by side, but they can't keep it up on both sides of the floor, which was what made Mike so great and Kobe and LeBron, but Just the MBA. Nowadays, there's not so much emphasis on defense. No, and and you bring up some great points. Thank you, Rob that. I have always marveled at Iverson at that size every single night he had to bring it. And if you've never had that pressure It's enormous. You you have to get shots up volume. The offense, You know, it's predicated on you being able to get shots on And hardened on that every night, Trey Young doing that every night, Allen Iverson. I thought Iverson could have been a great two way player. I thought of Georgetown. He could have been a great two way player. We got into the N B A and you know, he was a great one dimensional player. But he would lead the league in steals. You know a lot of your guys who are scores Can play the passing lanes like they'll cheat a little bit. You know, Bird played the passing lanes all the time. Barclay because they're trying to get the ball back. Steph Curry plays the passing lanes. Iverson play that, you know they're not great lock down defenders, but they're great off the bowl defenders from the standpoint of their playing the passing lanes. And It will always. I remember when Steph Curry was it, Davidson And the knock was well, What position is he going to play? Who's he gonna guard? And I always and.

"Eighteenth at Radisson hotel Southworth by going online to money matters dot net. We are back. This is money matters with Ken moraif. And of course, I am your host Ken moraif. Thank you, Jack. And you know, ladies and gentlemen on this show. We like our bonds shaken not stirred, and you know, all those other financial shows they stirred their bonds. Can you imagine? What Sean Connery would say if you found out about it. Oh, he would be very upset. Sorry about this. I know it's a bit silly. It's very silly. How we should get a bond a bond drop this by the Sean Connery drops somewhere. My name is bond JAMES BOND. Anyway, we are back and I am Ken moraif. I end the host of this show. I have been a certified financial planner professional for the last twenty marvelous wonderful and very exciting years. And all of the ideas that we talk about on this show. These are the same ideas that we talk about with our beloved and most valued clients, and we now have clients in forty three states. We are so honored and blessed, and we work primarily with people who are over fifty who are retired or retiring soon, and so we we specialize in retirement planning. And so that's you this shows designed for you. And recently financial times named our financial advisory firm moneymatters, one of the top three hundred registered investment advisers. Actually, this is the second time in two thousand eighteen this is the second time they did that. And we are very very honored by that. But again without our clients. We would be nowhere. They wouldn't even know our name financial times. And so therefore, we think our clients for that now one of the topics that comes up I would say almost in every conversation with clients when we're visiting and reviewing their investments in their strategy, and their financials is social security and the questions about when should I take it? How should I take it all those kinds of things that question once once once made in in most cases, you can't go back and change your mind. So it's important you do it right up front. Now. I've started the segment here on the show, which I call questions about social security. And so if you have questions, Email me your social security questions, and you can send it to Ken at moneymatters dot net. Okay. Simple. Kennett at moneymatters dot net. And if you're. Is a good one. Then we will put it on the air. So let's go to our question. Okay. So discounts from Debbie and Debbie says, I'm sixty two Bill is sixty six her husband. Debbie still working, and so w wants to apply for her social security, and she's sixty two and. She will be affected by the annual earnings test because she makes more than seventeen thousand. So it's likely that all her benefits will be withheld. So her question is if Bill files a restricted application for spousal benefits. Okay. Meaning that Bill who is sixty six he wants to collect off of hers. Okay. He doesn't want to collect his he wants to take hers even though she's sixty two and he can do that. When he wants you turn sixty six you can take your own benefits or you can take spousal benefits. So he's she's concerned that my earnings will also cause his spousal benefits to be affected by the annual earnings test. Okay. So she's sixty two. And she's making a lot of money more than seventeen thousand the earning says, if you make more than seventeen thousand we're going to take back social security from you. And so what she's saying is bill's gonna collect off of her. And if he does will that make the earnings test apply to him as well. Okay. And the answer is yes, it will. So if Debbie's earnings exceed the threshold Bill who's collecting on her record will find that. He will be with have money withheld from his as well. Okay. So they they look at both. So if both of your collect, that's the crazy thing if both of you are collecting, they'll reduce both of yours if you're working. Yes. Aren't they wonderful social security now if that didn't confuse you, then you know, what you really smart? Because I was confused explaining it to you. So social security is not simple. There are lots and lots of different ways of looking at it thinking about what you're going to do. There are you know, you can take it on your spouse. You can take it on yourself. You can take them and just sixty two when you're sixty six anytime in between you wait till you're seventy there's things that affected that have to do with the disparity in ages between the two of you disparity in your incomes, all those kinds of things have to be taken into account. It is not a simple decision. Like, oh, I'm going to take it when I'm sixty two. All right. Because if you if you don't think through it if you don't make the right decision, you most likely will leave money on the table. And you know, you may think oh, I gave up one hundred bucks a month or something and you for you that may not be a lot of money, but that's a thousand bucks a year and over thirty years alive. You left thirty thousand dollars on the table plus interest on that. It's even more than that. So these small decisions result in big dollars. So make sure you talk to somebody. That knows what they're talking about. When it comes. Through these kinds of things. And here's my offer to you. If you go to our website, it's money matters dot net. Moneymatters dot net, you know, as I said, we specialize in working with retired people. We we primarily work with people who are retired or who are about to retire. And so our advisers would love to visit with you. And what we'll do is go over your financial planning. We'll look at your retirement planning. We'll look at not just social security, but the whole picture, and we want.

The WalMart of two thousand and three which I went on tremendously. Exciting. Obviously, the the the wheels of the wall machine just covered on grinding on the war happened. I was a bit throw not because I kept seeing people with placards saying not in my name, which has become a very modern slow about to me, narcissistic, stirrings of vici, signaling vity in the sense. About the prospect of all these Iraqi people being killed, right? Exactly, exactly. Whether or not people in Cheltenham or wherever you from. No is knowing your name is kind of by the by. So that got that kind of bothered me. And I think that tendency is still allowed in modern pro, absolutely. I don't wanna sound coming courage violence. But I think if I am now if if if I think if a protest in the classical sense of it people on the street is going to be affective, very often the state test to come out and be visible. And then you see how it behaves, and if the state lashes out and stops being violent that dramatizes the sense that the state is run of argument, all it can do is stop breaking people's heads. Manatt happens. The politics of particular issues can shift it happened. They not happen tonight in sixty eight and among the democrat convention when the national guard and the cop sent in by mad daily, very violent towards protest outside. And it was kind of that was a sense and the American body politic of this. So of brought home the idea that the wall. Indefensible all you could do to anyone descend from it was to beat them up. Right. I also think it was the case in eighty nine is our cold so-called poll tax riot, nineteen ninety. "Home goods retailer would be folded into HSEN Gina Cervetti CCOO in Minneapolis I'm reporting, that a, Chinese hospitality provider, is weighing the bid for Radisson hotel I'm serenity on WBZ 'em in Chicago locally based HR firm. Challenger Gray and Christmas reports announced layoffs were down in July by twenty, seven percent from the previous month for on KOA com got, a ham from mother nature as farmers rebounded from the start Thank you Courtney today the Bank of England raised its benchmark. Rate to the highest level since two thousand nine as governor, Mark Carney played down concerns that Brexit could be a disorderly process just after the decision Carney spoke, with Bloomberg's Francine LA I think important thing is that this is the right. Decision for the economy given the track that it's on their, obviously there's, a wide range, of Brexit outcomes that are possible and we all hope that by the end of the year will. All be much better informed on which the UK and you're taking In a variety of those potential outcomes They would be. Consistent with, rates at their. Current, level if not if not higher certainly there are could be circumstances where, it would make sense to adjust policy but I think we'll all know what the. Circumstances are in the at that point we'll. Take them into account and take? Decisions what did you not say that actually a disorderly Brexit would automatically will. Wait cuts, because it doesn't automatically follow I mean certainly a set, of circumstances like what happened post referendum where the balance of what happened to the future supply of the economy Demand which was more of a business hit a consumer hit if you recall the time and the exchange. Rate the, combination of those things made sense for us to extend, the horizon over which we brought inflation pack the target support the economy To two years, to today I mean I would, say this but it. Does look like the right call we've got inflation, coming back to target we've got a record employment growth we've got real wages starting to grow we're in. We're in a better position But there are circumstances where, the balance of those three factors would be to inflationary for the tolerances. Of the in the end we? Can, stretch the, horizon we can support jobs and activity but up to a limit and we have to make those judgments at at at that time if. There is a hard Brexit are a crashing out toward ugly Brexit what would happen to the markets well I mean the markets will determine it depends how much the markets have. Pulled forward that situation how much, they then -ticipant as with any market event what what I will tell you go directly to our responsibilities more broadly within the Bank is it's our responsibility to anticipate a very bad version of that. Cliff edge, disorderly Brexit what could, happen to the markets how that would affect. UK financial institutions that we supervise and. Regulate and make sure they have. Enough capital enough liquidity there on top. Of the, risk management prepared for it We had done that we did, that with a brutal stress tests last year and they are capitalized for that and I'm gonna be here when it happened so I'm not if it happens I should say Jeez As a consequence of that, year we, have we have the confidence. There the other set of issues relate to cross cutting issues and the derivative markets insurance markets having to do with personal, data And for those we're very. Clear checklist of he needs to do what and where we are in terms of solving would you extend your tenure given. That it looks like that won't be finished by ninety, leave the well the crunch point really is between the crucial period in the negotiations of see between now and. The end of the, year there needs to be parliamentary approvals by the Brexit day the twenty ninth of March and, the most intense set of. Issues around Brexit or in that in that horizon so as I say it'd be here and.
