"They would blip up like factoid suo. yeah yeah it was during The young price on one when he when gene wilder marty feldman says while wilder walk this way. The blip comes up. That was where aerosmith got the idea for. Walk this really. I did not know that. Why didn't flip that popped up. Hell inspired marty. Feldman and mel brooks inspired aerosmith. That's nuts yeah like you would think that would be the last that would inspire one of the most iconic rock songs of all time you know. Of course that's one of the most iconic films of all time to and. I just remember reading about that movie. And how mel brooks and gene wilder but it heads so much not that movie the because they just had like such different ideas other they wanna dealer religion law. There was more. Let's do like frankenstein like more of a dry humor. The brooks nahmad slapstick. All the way. Yeah he was more on the silly slapstick but feldman did so well with aegis amazing in the back they would not take his meds. And la's is go for. That is pretty nuts. Like he actually. I was in a bank. Call one for the braves. And i wrote entitled called marty feldman and his crazy is. That's awesome dude. I have a. I have a coworker. Who obsessed with mel brooks and gene wilder. And i always love talking to him about about you. Know their movies and such works because they had different takes on humor. Yeah and if i remember correctly wasn't young frankenstein wasn't that gene wilder idea like that was his thing. And then i thought. I remember reading reading or watching something about how mellberg's kinda you know or maybe it was like i said maybe it was just the fact that they didn't they much it was g. Bother idea was pretty much all him not watch. Mel brooks his knee which is broke one of his movies And i really think it all came down to. He just wanted mel brooks his name and everything and they were good they were. They were friends. You know helping put together and everything. It's amazing that he is still alive. Let's see he's always going to be in the nineties. Yeah he was born in one thousand nine hundred ninety six. So that's pretty owns robinson. That's right. I forgot about that. Yeah so he's ninety four yeah con. That's not man. I feel like we talk about classic movies all day. This is awesome real talk. I don't know if you know real talk but there they're sorry go ahead their bases patrick Pat is also huge movies. Him constantly going back and forth about movies. That's so cool. yeah it's just. It's not too often. That i meet someone else around my age. That has watched a lot of the same old films that i've watch all into it too. You know so. I like i get all giddy like any thirty. I guess anytime. I get that opportunity. You know that community theater of a few good men walls and yes. I mom's favorite movie. So that's one of the ones that he'd be hanging our wall here soon. Okay cool yeah i. I did that when i was nineteen. I got to play You know lieutenant kathy. Tom cruise and that was so much fun. And yeah it was with a community theater group. And what what was interesting. Is that when the start of the production They had decided that they were going to omit the foul language the f. bombs and all that stuff and then i can't remember what the turning point was because this is you know it's a family organization this community theater group just like most of them are right I can't remember what the turning point was where they just said. You know what screw it like. You just say just put a disclaimer. You know on the show that say. Hey only this age is allowed or just so you know like up kind of deal that you know there is some explicit content or however you wanna word it adult content in this in this place so When i think when we first started rehearsing and the why am. I forgetting jack. Nicholson's character man. I guess it's just because it's been so long since i've done the play a few good men. He was so good. That movie too so cool. We want me on that wall. You need me yes. Aaron aaron sorkin is is such a good writer. Yeah everything he's done he's written so well needed the newsroom's written really well. Swing was written was ranked. Yes yes he did right. Okay let me just greater on that. Yeah jessop okay So when the guy who was playing colonel jessop when we started doing rehearsals together and we get to those scenes where you know. He's saying the f. bombs and stuff like it was so hard not laugh just because it was like and and this is coming from a guy the guy who played jessup was like a very prominent churchgoer like he. Actually i think he was acquired director at his church and he to confession after rehearsals. But you're saying pre- pretty much but yeah so that was. That was so much fun to be a part of and to be like. Ooh i get to be tom cruise. Tom cruise was like you know so. So yeah that's that's another movie that's definitely a classic for sure man. Let's talk about i i noticed. I think it was on instagram. Today i notice you guys What makes sense posted about. You have something new like coming up here soon. We do We have says far as goes live. Really talk we do what we will in the next. Let's say mont have some something new coming for everybody to check out. Okay cool you know. I want to give too much away. Because then i'll get. "You drive angry and they drive off a cliff. I was reading recently. That during the filming. And i'm assuming it's during that scene he got bit Two or three times by the groundhog. Your your that at all. And and i'm assuming it's during the scene where he's got. He's driving in the truck with the groundhog. Because there's no other part of the movie where he's that close to the groundhog to where he can get bit but yeah apparently he got it was. They were so concerned about the bites that he ended up getting rabies shots. I yeah i just kinda learned at the other day. This past groundhog day has almost every year. I try to watch groundhog day on groundhog day. Cheesy as hell right. But i do it and i had it on. Vhs up until this last groundhog day because vhs took a dive it was on. Its last leg. And i almost couldn't get it out of the vcr 'cause like the tape. The vcr was like eating the tape out of the reels or whatever. I'm sure you experience that probably a long time ago. 'cause i'm probably the last person on the planet that's still has a vcr. Don't have any lack. But i did. I do remember exactly you're talking about because of my favorite movies died. That was you see exactly but but anyway yeah so i was. I was looking up some things about the film. Some interesting facts and that was one of the lump tournament. what else was something else. That was interesting. But i think the ned ryerson scenes are some of my favorites because we all have that person we went to high school with or whatever and we tried to avoid them and pump blake if we see them like shit like i don't wanna see this guy because he's doing. No i want you to buy this. And i'm doing this now. You should totally by my thing or you know whatever whatever it is and so the whole ned. Ryerson thing is great. I think one of my favorite facts about the movie too is that they were doing the math. Like how long who's in the loop for no they. They don't really have like a definitive. But it's anywhere between ten and three years. He was going through the loop seriously. Yeah wow that's crazy. I don't remember who wrote the screenplay for that. And i'm sure it's probably based on a book like everything else is i do know that it's Wow now i'm going to forget his name of director's name. I'm forgetting his name. And i'm going to have to look that up now. 'cause herald ramos there. We go Herald ramos was the hill. Raymond yeah it was herald ramos. I'm up my movies. And i guess i was gonna say yeah and i guess says he actually wrote it with someone else so which i guess isn't surprising but i don't know i. I just have a soft spot for that movie. I think i mean. That's my favorite bill. Murray movie and i think it's one of his best known as a very very good bill. Murray movie i don't know is it my favorite. That's a good question to. I'll a big fan of the steve zizou life. I have never seen life aquatic. Very different bill murray role but very good bill murray role a lot of movies around that time like lost in translation. And all that they were those were very different. In my opinion there are kind of weird. You know it's still funny in a way. Because like he's not he's not like slapsticky he's like sarcastic funding throughout the entire movie is it's really good Another movie i just never really got super into was scrooge. I just never could get into that one to watch it a few times and i was like it's not for me. Yeah i i guess that was also kind of weird you know. It's like a weird t. That's the one obviously screws christmas christmas story. So since we're on the topic of movies. I know when you had me on the nonsense podcast I think it was like i. I was spying like your movie posters. And i'm trying to think of i think it was a hitchcock movie poster that i spied in the background which migrate there Nor was it northwest by. What's that movie. called by. northwest northbound. Okay it is cary grant to catch a thief right. Okay yes okay. Now i remember. I knew it was a very grim. Remember which one it was. Yeah and suburban some of this stuff going back to that era. Some of the stuff that they were able to pull off with special effects was still pretty cool. I mean you obviously when you look at it. They had to physically make those special effects which is just so and that went for like everything they had to make these things and black and white especially on film so hired to shoot like the lighting and everything mattered so much yeah So what i mean. "Dr angry and they drive off a cliff. Yeah i just kinda learned at the other day. This past groundhog day has almost every year. I try to watch groundhog day on groundhog day. Cheesy as hell right. But i do it and i had it on. Vhs up until this last groundhog day because vhs took a dive it enhance was on. Its last leg. And i couldn't get it out of the vcr 'cause like the tape. The vcr was like eating the tape out of the reels or whatever. I'm sure you experience that probably a long time ago. 'cause i'm probably the last person on the planet that's still has a vcr. I don't have any lack. But i did. I do remember exactly. You're talking about because of my favorite movies died. That was yeah. See exactly but but anyway. Yeah so i was. And i'm sure it's probably based on a book like everything else is i do know that it's Wow now i'm going to forget his name a director's name. I'm forgetting his name is going to have to look that up now. 'cause herald ramos there. We go Herald ramos was the hill. Raymond yeah it was herald ramos right. You're is. I'm makes up my movies. And i guess i was gonna say yeah and i guess says he actually wrote it with someone else so which i guess isn't surprising but i don't know i just have a soft spot for that movie. I think i mean. That's my favorite bill. Murray movie and i think it's one of his best known as a very very good bill. Murray movie i don't know is it my favorite. That's a good question to. I'll a big fan of the steve zizou life. I have never seen life aquatic. It's very different. Bill murray role but very good bill murray role a lot of movies around that time like lost in translation. And all that they were those were very different. In my opinion there are kind of weird. You know it's still funny in a way. Because like he's not he's not like slapsticky he's like sarcastic funding throughout the entire movie is it's really good Another movie i just never really got super into was scrooge. Do they do their thing but they have. A milkshake should really good really hard hard ice cream. Excuse but they don't. They do pretty much different. Ones every season but They're cookie does always a win creams to like i love like black raspberry that a pretty good black raspberry one i think i've had black raspberry it's a long time though. Love free ice creams as well. My favorite an extra level of refreshing Yeah i mean especially if it's mixed with something salty two zero like there's a hadn't blueberry pie ice cream at that was super good. Specifically you're talking about a friend and so what happened with this friend if you don't mind talking about that which just a situation where It was a conversation where like no matter. What we i did or we the group of friends who were involved did it seemed like there was nothing we could ever do to help Which the correct term here Help with their problems that makes sense so it's like sometimes man. Sounds like a really shitty. The way i'm explaining i mean so the easily explaining i'll take it out of the equation. Is that everybody. There's these people and there's these relationships that you always try to help before the reason it never seems like it's enough and it eventually start affecting your mental health your other relationships and how you can even help them and sometimes the best way to fix. Those situations is for both parties to disco away. There's no bad blood is not as it's not that it's just kind of we're not good at what we're doing. I mean he could take into the role of dating. "Midway through the searching guy. Go let it. He's so good at just he takes those little phrases and just repeats them and and hooks with a melody and it just stuck in your head all the time you just good at everything he does. Yeah right yeah. Because i think it's great right and you got drums you know. And what What can't dave grohl do. I had like a really dark joke on the minds. Cbs knocker. oh no no you gotta say it. Now you're say save rana save. Oh all man well you know i mean. We all know how that ended. Yeah so but it seems when he drives save other bands he fails navonna leads up when he failed with. It got close with zappa. What he failed. What happened with led zeppelin. He got pretty much everyone in to do. A led zeppelin Reunion except for broader plan. Really see. I don't know everything. Dave grohl so i realize that a slot for awhile and i was like i learned what the april does the role i mean. I don't blame you for doing that. I think most of the things. I know about dave grohl just stem from doing or just watching that the headlines because i probably will not really the last year too much just because of covid but especially when they were on tour. You always see. Dave grohl come up especially when he had the broken leg and you know still playing the shows and all that chip so the greatest human. Yeah he really has. His coffee is coffee jokes or the videos or fantastic. The fresh pods one and the drug. Get off a coffee addiction. Well it only it only makes sense because he actually oh deed on coffee. They just got a great sense of humor. Yeah i think wasn't that during the recording of one of their records. I think it was not the last one. Did the one before. Okay i it was a lot longer ago than that but again no expert on dave grill could be here. I am sounding like one and then like about some expert gave this guy. Does note the fucking stalking random dude. It's so strange like this is the second time we've done this within like kind of a short span except now you're on my show and before i was on your show so it's almost like it's becoming a regular thing now i'm okay with that i i was gonna say people pick like who's a better host ed we could do. We could do a vote. We could do a poll for For this episode. Be like okay so if you listen to the nonsense podcast and you heard random to his hosting and now you listen to pop pumpkin. Pizza and jacques is the host who is the better. You know who did what better your who did what better. Yeah i'm probably gonna be guest in house. Because i don't think things through i things They'll probably be a better. I'll probably be what our guests like better. I'll be a better guest than i am a host. I get what you're saying. They're both they can both be kinda daunting it. Just all depends on how you're feeling at that moment. You know very true. I guess that's one of the many things. But no i thought you were a great host man. I had a lot of fun on the nonsense podcast. So so thanks. Yeah it was. It was a good time. We talked about pizza. Of course. I think what you asked me about. It was like new york style pizza and like chicago style right. We did we did. The stereotypical like better pizza question. Yeah i have to skate around that one. I always have to kind of tiptoe. Because i don't want to piss off any listeners. You know. I don't wanna lose lose the fans but play boss non-sporty fight you guys on pizza. That's true that's very true So random it is great to have you on the show you are of course from what makes sense out of new york and Groundhog day sir. Latest single which. It's already been out for a month or two at this point right. I think was sixteen. Th i think. Today's like exactly like a month to wanted two days. That i thought so. And it's got a great hook right in the beginning of the song and ecorse like the first thing i think of when i hear groundhog day or see groundhog as i think of the movie. Because as one of my favorite movies And but i'm pretty sure the song itself maybe referencing towards is it a reference towards the movie where things are just kind of the same over and over again one hundred percent okay. So the idea like the idea of like the song is like i use it in terms of breaking out of a relationship. So you're breaking out of a cycle of hey like you can't save everybody trying and trying and keep you keep butting heads like no one's getting anywhere. Nothing changes sometimes. The best way to help other people to help yourself to break that cycle and start a new day and groundhog day. The movie as what it was it'd be a better person. Find a new day and finally broke out the cycles. that's why. I rolled with groundhog day for the title on that one so Did did you literally like watch this movie and think This is kind of like the relationship. I'm in right now. I'm gonna write a song about this but kind of like loosely. Tie in the whole concept of groundhog day. Like how did that show. It was a longtime friend of mine. We don't talk anymore for those who know what makes sense. History of pretty ship with family members have been most of what the writings about in general in our songs and going through. That and i happened to i wrote. I wrote that al and then happened to be going through i will. I will movies especially older movies. Have we were talking about that. Yeah had be going through watching and grandma came on. I was like man. That's like one is a cool name. It really does kind of like some what. I'm trying to say in the song like break that cycle and that's how groundhog day became the title. I had to fight a little bit. 'cause really why ground high data rate. Well what's so funny about it. Is that the title is not a very serious title and it totally works with the whole pop punk sensibility. of course. There's a pop. Punk song called groundhog day. Of course there is like you know what i mean. It's just like falls perfectly into that but like the meaning of the song. There's actually a lot more to it and it's also really interesting to hear talking to writers like yourself where a lot of times you think specific because this song was a necessarily about like a girl right right. I wasn't about a girl. He's valley is more about relationship in a lot of times. I feel like a lot of us. Perceive okay well this is obviously. It's about a girl you know what i mean like a lot of times. You don't actually know that. Oh wait it's actually about something deeper than that especially when it comes to pop punk. We automatically think the girl or the guy or you know whoever it is i. A guest does.
