Let's Drop in on Ruth's Story...
"Let's drop in on rue's story. It takes place during the time of the judges when all kinds of wickedness is filling the land of Israel. The book opens with a married couple, Illinois, and Naomi, leaving their hometown, Bethlehem of Judah, to escape a famine. They settle in Moab across the Jordan River, which is pagan territory. We'll include a link to a map in today's show notes so you can see where this is. After a little molecular Naomi and their two sons get to Moab, the sons do the very thing Moses warned them against. They marry women who worship other gods. Eventually Ali malek and his sons all die, leaving Naomi and her moabite daughters in law behind defend for themselves. Naomi is in Dire Straits because as a widow with no offspring, there's no way for her to be provided for. And especially not in a foreign land that has no rules for providing for widows like Israel does. Fortunately, she gets word that Bethlehem isn't in a famine anymore, and she packs her bags. She tells her pagan daughters in law to go back to their homes where they can start over. Or pet goes back home, but Ruth makes a shocking decision. She attaches herself to a destitute, depressed widow, and leaves her country to move to a foreign land. She chooses the hard path. As she's making this commitment to Naomi, Ruth invokes an oath to God, and when she makes that out, she refers to him as yahweh. This lets us know that something has happened to the heart of this moabite. Her allegiance has transferred from her pagan gods, to Naomi's God. Yahweh. They make it back to Bethlehem, but Naomi is really bitter at this point. She believes God is mistreating her. She has no idea what's in store. God's blessings were on their way even as Naomi complained about him, and every detail of timing and placement was orchestrated for her good.

Trish Regan: The Connection Between Canceling Tests Scores & CRT
"I mean, you think about Columbia University. My Alma mater, by the way, saying, okay, you don't need the SAT anymore. Well, part of that is because it's rooted in this CRT, which came out of a lot of academia, specifically law schools, critical race theory, which suggests that you're never going to get a fair shot in this country. If you happen to be born black. And so we need to somehow correct this. And the idea is, well, if we have more people that we allow into these quote unquote Ivy League schools, they'll get that stamp of approval, which will enable them to be on a certain course in life. And the only way may be because unfortunately, and this gets back to some root issues to quote Kamala Harris, rue issues, we got education systems in so many poor minority communities that are beyond messed up Chicago, Compton, out in California and New York City. I did a story years ago about how kids were getting passed from grade to grade all the way to 12th grade. They couldn't read Mike. I mean, this is a problem. And so the answer is somehow, okay, well we're going to just get rid of SATs because we can bring all these people in and I think they're afraid of lawsuits because what about the poor kid who, you know, whose parents immigrated here from India or the Philippines and has been studying his tail off for years and years and years and gets a perfect score on the SAT and straight a's, but that child because he's from Asian descent may not be able to get in. They're preparing for this. There is an agenda. They think they can fix it this way with handouts with college degrees. And the truth is you can't because it goes back to something pretty simple. We need to do a better job organizing at the local level to ensure everybody's got some kind of access to opportunity. We don't do that. When you see Lori Lightfoot out in Chicago, thank goodness Chicago voted her out,

That's all right. It's in my country. I'm not, I'm not in the future under 3 million subscribers. Look at that. Okay. Frank. This is tough, get ready. Yeah. Start, bench drop in their prime. Can't say makelele, petite. Oh. Oh. Oh my God. Oh. I would love to, I would love to drop my best. My best mate, but I have to put my lily. Then county, then pity. Then pertains. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, well, yeah, because petty didn't have a full carrier in the middle of the park. It also played left back at the beginning, and after a center back, then came in the middle of the park when it almost signed for arsenal. But before playing for Monaco, he had a childhood almost childhood on the wall where he was playing just after the academy. On the left side and then after as a center back. But macula lily, I mean, macula live. When he left padre, they I think they didn't win the championship for a couple of years. He was the man man, you know? In the middle of the park for Madrid, absolutely fantastic player. And this, I would say, is sung in a world of football is counting. And I love those kind of players. Right. I love those players who give everything for the team works. Maybe in the shade, but you can realize if you know football the importance of those players. "The worst case scenario here from Barcelona's perspective? Could they just be stripped of all the titles that they've won during that period? This is a very complex to know what can be happening because right now the period investigated is only 2016 and 18. And this is because of tax fraud investigation. The prosecutor's office has put that claim. It is a claim. It's not a lawsuit. That's why when you ask Barcelona, they say, if they were very sure that they can prove that if they have proved that Barcelona has been doing these to get the referees help, they would have filled a lawsuit, not a claim. So they think that they don't have enough evidence to prove that. Of course they say they are innocent. And according to the law, they can have, for example, the two places that are in that claim to some, they can go to jail up to four years. And Barcelona could have probably to pay or some kind of punishment for doing something that, of course, is corruption, not only this, if they are found guilty, laliga could reconsider what they have said that they weren't investigate because it's more than three years ago and has prescribed. We're fucking do it as well. So it's just the beginning of this case. It's up to one year that this claim needs to be investigated. Google we're seeing testimonies like president Juan laporta having to declare. Of course, enriquez negre, and then we will see as Julian was mentioning if they are able to prove that this money was to have the referee's help indeed. One last thing on this

"Chomp a liar. That's basically where we are. Clown and a liar, Franken. All right. Which one's which? With us as well. I'm drawn to you first Joel's given your relationship with Ben samar. Where do you stand on this? Well, I was just waiting now to hear Benzema's version. He's truth he side of the story, really, and another story that he put out last night saying, well, I would love to I would love to speak now. We'll have to tell the truth. I really believe that I didn't want to say too much before the end of the season, and I faced that after the big dish or interview that you have to look, the one we read, but also to the figure out on the same day. That Benzema now has to say something has to give his version for let's just remind people. So Ben samar feels he was forced out. Yeah, that he wasn't didn't feel welcome and squad was never welcomed back and it was almost a relief to see him gone. Is that fair? Yeah, I mean, I think he felt that he was welcome back. It's just on this incident at the World Cup. The fact that you arrived already injured, if you remember, you had no play for a few for a couple of weeks with ramad already, and then he had that setback on his on his thigh injury and after that, it's only felt that maybe they could have kept him a little bit more have another scan 48 48 hours after the injury and see how the injury had evolved before really calling it and saying like, okay, you need to go home. Because it feels like maybe I think the injury was not that serious. Despite what Detroit was saying that and for me and again, me and Carrie have been spoken about that since the interview the addition gave this weekend this week. But it feels like I think they know the same page in terms of the gravity of the injury. Deschamps says that it could not play the game before December the tenth. I think that the story from Benzema and the Benzema truth might be different in the sense that he doesn't feel the injury was actually that bad and I would have kept him out that long. Frank, what's your take on it all? Well, did you just get this version? It's truth and what you really thinks. I really want to know what Karim thinks about that and what he wants to answer to the Shah. And then after we'll make up our mind, but until we don't have anything from Karim, I mean, we can not suppose we can only support that. He's right. But I want to know why carry him left. The day after, why he left that way without waiting. He said that he had that injury as well as he had to come back only after December 10th. So I won't really know the version of Karim Karim. I think it was a not a very good move answering in social networks. I think he should have, you should have made a statement exactly explaining what happened and give his real version because his is a top of the top is the Ballon d'Or, does he need to go into that situation, history with belonged to the past. We are in fact, we don't care. We don't care because we already said it. We won't be back with the national team. He wants to win the championship again once maybe to win the Liga. That's the president of Karim Benzema. The past and why didn't he why the comeback why? You don't play for national team. Really? It doesn't really matter. It's only sad for him that he couldn't play for the national team. Maybe sad for us, maybe we would have won the World Cup with him, but we'll never know. So he's part of the past. So don't answer or give a restatement, please, Gary. The secret to crushing your

"Seen in previous seasons. The game was one. It took the foot off the gas and just let the game play out, kept the clean sheet. The only concern about this performance from master was I thought saka underrepresented. Given the fact that he played. And all I'm saying is, I see that only because he played 90 minutes against sporting and he just wonder if that had an impact. That was something we discussed this week. Other than that. I think it should be dropped. Do you mean one of the best players? No, Dan. Celebrate no I see. That being said, but tries to be serious. I thought you were the only problem. I'm just saying I was just pointing out of everything as good as it would. That was my only concern. From a NASA perspective, you have to think that you have to be perfect at least going into that city game. That city, despite their own, maybe inconsistencies are not over they are. You're going to bank on them on an absolutely winning. And then that gives you that little bit of wiggle room in that game. At the Etihad. But on this on this performance, on this showing, I see no reason to think other than that for us. It was important to have a no stress win. See, all this cardiac wins there, they're all exciting. Yes, fantastic. But they wear on you. Sure. It's nice to have a dominant performance. And a stress free performance when you're done by halftime. And you can say, all right, let's relax, knock the ball around. We don't need to be winning games in the 94th minute every weekend because eventually this is gonna come back. And so I just think it's important for our son's perspective for that confidence to continue to rise. Yes, we like the cardiac wins, but we love the dominant performances. And that I thought was today for arsenal. Meanwhile, at the same time of that game, at Old Trafford Manchester United were in action against Southampton. No goals in this game. One red card, though, and it be shown towards casimiro for the challenge here.

"And not coming back and the defense that they were nowhere near it. I mean, that was so many followers in that specific chance and go from also appalling from Fulham because flame is having a very good season. And I didn't recognize the team that I saw playing against, for example, Chelsea and doing so great. But yeah, you know, you have to say that they played against maybe the champion. So it's why it was so hard for them today. You are out of the game the way they arsenal just continue to pressure in that first half was really completely opposite what we saw from Manchester City this weekend and looking at it. There's really only one champion, isn't there? Yeah, I mean, I thought the intensity was, again, a very impressive from a national point of view. And I think, especially then when they get into the lead, it's easier to control the game. But the way they started again and this is there's been one of the things that they usually start in August, born with last weekend, but apart from that game, they've always started really well this season. And when you go well to a Tim like for them, like they did a brand for this is similar game, but I think at the end of August, the beginning of September go away to Brentford and start on the front foot like that, putting a lot of intensity scoring in the first half. I mean, when you three that halftime, obviously the game is over, the game is gone, and even if it's the opposition that made mistakes on your goal, you know that if there's a little mistake from the opposition, you're going to be there, you're going to be ruthless. You're going to take those chances and score. And I think that's very very impressive. The city black Crystal Palace, which was a very different game to Fulham because Fulham, I think, wanted to play at some point, and we're ready to play like there have been a really good playing playing team, but especially at home this season was for palace, we knew they were going to defend and have 11 men in their own box through the whole game. So it was a different approach for city, but beyond the intensity is certainly true that also have been the most intense team so far this season. Let's take a look at arsenal's next 6 fixtures, then coming up, of course, they're starting to get it

The article really provides fascinating insights into her design process. They talk about how. She's not hampered by any Dress making traditions. They say quote. She possesses a strong sense of color as well as many ideas she makes it bold attack on fabrics. The conventions of cut hell no restraint for her. The result was smart unusual individual close to have a practical side as well and no stigma of eccentricity which i think is hilarious because obviously the one thousand nine hundred schiaparelli. She's really hands on at this point in her career and she's you can see how and why her business is so successful because she's part and parcel almost every single process. Yeah and and she was a little bit older at this point. We must point out that she was in her late thirties when she first got her start at the encouragement of paul paret so by nineteen. Thirty two scapula's haute couture house ahead spread to be eight italian as with four hundred employees and by nineteen thirty five can had busted the seams of her former location and she needed larger premises so she moved just a little bit further down the street. It was actually created out of all the press clippings which were covering her move to her new headquarters at twenty one class so this is so cheeky and it so scavarelli and this makes me love it so so the couture house and the ready-to-wear boutique for schiaparelli in its modern. Incarnation is still at twenty one von dome today the house of course was relaunched in two thousand twelve and they were able to kind of get the lease on their former address which is just amazing. "People in the world. We all have one thing in common every day. We all get dressed. Welcome to dress the history of fashion. A podcast marie explore the who. What when why we wear we are fashion historians and your host for callahan and cassidy zachary. While welcome back dress listeners. We are still actually standing on the route of low-pay waiting to continue artur still there jack. Hammering honking cars all of it were still there. But don't worry because we are going to as promised like part one of this series transport you back to the period when the reader lopate was known as the most luxurious shopping street in the world. And what better way to start. Today's episode then with the to your house of a man who can arguably be called the founding father of the ochamchira and the founding father of the of the pay we are standing at seven or sets clue della pay. And i'm wondering dress listeners. you have any guesses. He was the subject of our very first episode. dressed jess. I think that many of our listeners are already well aware of what's coming. Yes because of course seven repay was the home of the house of the qatar house of charles. Frederick were so this is where it all started and of course we could have started the riddler pay tour here. But then we'd be standing in the middle of the street. So i hope you understand why we started at one end and walk towards the other but we've arrived at the place where arguably the fashion reputation other it'll pay started was with worth and actually standing in front of it. The building almost looks exactly as it would have been worth opened his first italia with his business partner. Auto beaubourg at this very site over one hundred sixty years ago and i was in eighteen fifty eight. Yeah and i just have to say when cast. And i kind of like preparing to do this tour. And we were kind of walk in the streets and and and doing all the prep. We both got a little emotional about the fact that we've seen so many pictures of the house of worse than the outside from the nineteenth century and then we're standing across the street from it. It looks exactly the same. It hasn't changed now. It really has it and we're going to post pictures of of course the contemporary and historic photographs of these places. We took a lot of pictures. And we're going to do some side by side comparison so you can see because not all of the storefronts look the same but house of worth does it was pretty incredible to imagine what it would have been like during this the heyday of the street so worth openness for business with auto in eighteen fifty eight he was solo by eighteen. Seventy seventy one. In between this period he had earned the patronage of the empress. Eugenie herself. So you know no big deal. And he became the official designer of the court by eighteen. Sixty four so needless to say clients flocked in droves in their carriages chew the riddle pay and they would actually wait on his outdoor staircase in order to gain entrance and sadly we looked. We walked into the courtyard. The is gone but one can imagine. It seems as if that injury courtyard that we've seen him. Photos has been divided in half now. Somehow staircase isn't thirty anymore but We we were quite curious. I have to say and in terms of this ignificant of all of what we're saying. We just want you to remember that. This term haute couture was not really a term that had existed in worse day. This was a new term and he was largely responsible for setting the precedence for this elite designation within the industry and he kind of like built up this presence on the rule of pay around this elite industry in his presence on the street and worth himself can be credited for many innovations including the concept of the designer as taste maker. And this is something that we're incredibly familiar with today that it slick you know the designer who is the creative visionary but this was a entirely novel concept in the nineteenth century because prior to this it was kind of the client who would instruct their dressmaker earlier. Taylor rest who what they wanted. Not the other way around. It wouldn't be the maker that was the quote unquote creative genius. So you know part in parcells who worst dictatorial control of his clients. Wardrobes or what he envisioned that they should be wearing was also how he presented himself to the world and to his clients and he really did so as an artist he even went so far as to adopt artistic clothing and he dressed the part casts. Right all rembrandt is one compares the and and so much so like this kind of adopted persona was so tre or kind of like out there that in eighteen ninety harper's bazaar wrote that worth could be seen around his house on the regional pay quote during his official hours moving slowly about with two black dogs at his heels. His tall figure wrapped in a loose robe of the finest brown. Wool is still skullcap. On his will shaped head and introspective look upon his serious face. And there's actually wonderful photograph of him out there. So if you want to. Just google charles frederick worth and you will know exactly what we're talking about so another of worse important. Contributions west is innovative organization of the couture house by not only the specialties of tire and flu so tailoring draping departments. But he also created. These other niche specialties like setting sleeves making linings embroidery this essentially created an assembly line process whereby a single garment would pass along the chain for the worker to execute their specific task before handing it off to the next employees to execute their specialty. And so on so. This was a novel notion given that under old models. Sometimes a single person might complete garments construction with additional support from only in embroider or a beater and this is super interesting because this is one of the chief complaints by say like the arts and crafts movement against the industrial revolution. Is people really started. You know mechanising. What wants us to be supercricket process and breaking them down to beat what is the most productive and efficient absolutely and this was actually though one has to argue what allowed couture house to expand significantly because by eighteen seventy the house of worth employed approximately twelve hundred employees and several of them actually lived on the premises of the qatar house or in nearby buildings were employee dormitories. And also. i think this is really quite fascinating. That many couture houses at this time also provided lunch for their employees or their staff in these kind of like really light and airy employee dining rooms that were part and parcel to all these multi level buildings that these businesses were and we actually have a multitude of photographs of some of these things. Yeah and we'll actually post some because there's an incredible book that came out in nineteen ten creators of fashion. That really provides this wonderful behind the scenes element that you just don't often get to see so and i just love this one. Particular memory of the nineteenth century retailer pay from a nineteen twenties book a history of feminine fashion. Which has quote during the empire the root of pay and this is of course the empire of napoleon..

We all get dressed. Who is dressed the history of fashion. A podcast for explore. The who. what when of why we wear. We are fascist orients and your hosts april callaghan and cassidy zachary so today dress listeners. The root the pay appears as just any other store line street so you have the hustle and bustle of presient life. Which animates the street. We you know honking horns jackhammers. Various types of construction work totally The presence of cardi as black marble facade is really one of the last remaining hints at a bygone era when the street was heralded as one of the sheikh. If not these she gets streets in the world so what women war on the sidewalks of the retailer pay was newsworthy as what could be purchased in its shops. It was all reported in detail and fashion magazines across europe and america in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and at this time the retail pay was the fashion street. I mean it was the fantasy of every aspiring fashion sta and also the reality of the uber wealthy and the elite from around the globe. So it was this international shopping destination of the glitterati of society from the demimondaine. All the way up to royalty from all around the world and the street itself was so legendary that had actually inspired perfumes. Plays and also imitations because this is quite interesting. Cast madison avenue in new york. Historically has kind of like especially kind of when it emerged as elite shopping destination in the us it was referred to as the new rubella pay in the nineteen twenties right and in one thousand nine hundred thousand. Five article by vogue magazine called the riddle. Pay quote the street of a thousand luxuries. The most luxurious the most complete shopping street in all the world within these limits are centered. The reasons that send the feet of every chic american woman who comes to paris flying to the root of the pay first last and many times in between end quote and april. It's not lost on us. That almost one hundred years after this article was written you and i were in fact to american women. Yes we actually dressed listeners. As you will recall from last week's a recap. We made the riddler pay the first stop on our recent fashion history tour of paris so we are so excited to share with. You are walking tour in hopes that you can imagine what it would have been like to shop. Once one of the most covetable shopping destinations in the world. Yes and even if you are in paris on your own you could take this podcast with you and this is our audio company. Meant to our tour of the pay. So we're gonna actually begin our tour on the opposite end of the plastic dome. So the end of the rule of pay that's closest to the palais gonyea the paris opera house. If you're standing in that direction near looking down the road you'll pay what you're going to see at. The end is the plastic dome which was just round plaza. And what we want to talk about here is the fact that that round plaza which now houses a column the statue on top. Actually that site was originally the home for church prior to the nineteenth century and in eighteen. O six napoleon bonaparte had that church demolished to make way for this new street into the loss fontham where he had erected a giant column crown with his statue not the same column in statue than it is today. But let's just say you know. Obviously it goes without saying that that when this statue was there during his reign the regional pay was actually called the rue napoleon and it was only after that he was finally deposed in eighteen. Fifteen that the street was given its new name for which it would earn world renown as a fashion destination as the russillo. Pay out on. Before i forget little fashion history facts here that person. Napoleon had demolished while apparently it also held the remains of one of fashion histories. Icons the madame de pompadour. And we're not exactly sure what happened to her remains and maybe one of our french colleagues out. There might and lightness. They might know and we'd love to hear yes absolutely so by eighteen. twenty two. The travel guide gallon. yanni's paris guide or strangers companion through the french metropolis. Described the riddle of pay as quote the center of the fashionable part of the city and quote. But at this time it was occupied by furnished hotels offices of physicians and surgeons and really the only fashioned purveyors of dress were to boot and shoemakers a few jewelers and a perfumer or perfume. Yea said this at all changed by the time the first stop on our tour opened its doors at twenty one. Rusillo pay an eighteen seventy one and while the coach house we are about to talk about opening eighteen seventy one. It really was only the latest incarnation of a family business. The history of which extends all the way back to eighteen sixteen when a family opened a lingerie which at this time meant linen undergarments. They opened this laundry and linens at business so dressed listeners will give you a couple of seconds but do you have any guests it dun dun dun dun dun dun. I love that you did the sound effects on the show. Because i can't sing but you can. If you happen to guest. Jacques do say you'll be correct but if you did not guess jock please do not in any way shape or firm feel bad because do say today is is as you know outside of maybe people who are professionals in this field kind of a lesser known haute couture compared to like worth. But we do have to say this. Did you say house was one of the leading bella hawk. Could we're houses of the era and do say himself is perhaps today actually more famous for his illustrious art collection which included post impressionist and cuba's artists as compared to his career as a fashion designer so his collection included one of the most famous works of art of all time. We are right. It's really refreshing to hear that too. And that's what really attracted me to the sort of questions you were asking the research you're doing is it really is kind of this. Listrik approach to doing science. Which you you know again. Not downplaying anyone's avenue our approach to doing it but you literally could spend your entire phd and career just on the genomic side of this but no there's the natural history component this the evolutionary component. In you know you outlined it so wonderfully and eloquently that it almost just builds on each other and you could see where that like. Oh okay next step. Ooh okay next step. And you're just building this wonderful staircase to like like this narrative of more complete holistic picture of the system that you're in okay now that i've kinda figured this one out who's next. Yes that is exactly. I'll feel nice. That's great and so with that in mind like what is over the horizon. You're still working towards your phd here and you want to go into academia but the it's just sounds like you've set yourself up or you know any interview you get for job to be like what are your ideas. Here's what i'm bringing to the table. This is what we're studying include people here that want to do this. Use anywhere that they want. I'm already talking to prospective students so right now like i said it's been a up and down during which are also a lot of people that are thinking about graduate school. I get ready. Because i cannot tell you what it's going to be like. It could be easy. There are people. Go straight through easy breezy. I'd like oregon down so for me right now. I am aiming to graduate. This coming up may may twenty twenty two And that is my goal. If i do not hit that goal it will be okay on. I'm okay with that. Because i don't think you'll will be too far behind but that's kind of where i'm ed and then next thing will be wonderful post on what you're looking for somewhere to start a post on it because i do feel like i need to hannah buildup ma manuscripts while mom papers just because like i said it was kind of meandering a little and so i wanna get some more of those skills just to get papers out. Because that seems like something like insci- unfortunately your worst is currency. Hit all the bankers. So that's idea and then after that just looking for jobs at different universities and interviews. I'm talking to friends that have like are like a couple steps above me to see how it's going to take out there. I'll do. I l scary but i. Yeah so i that's basically it to have a research lab at betty's sex determination and unisex reality i would say probably like angius firearms off our implants. The Top 15 Little-Known Secrets On How To Improve Your Focus
"If you don't know who i am. I am a author journalist and founder and executive director of the flow research collective. We study peak human performance where research a training organization on the research side. We work with scientists at ucla at stanford companies like deloitte energetics. Like that on the training side we work with everyday from the us special forces through executives in fortune. Five hundred companies essentially google etc microsoft. All the way up to the general public and focus on is kikkoman performance. What does it take to be your best when it matters. Most what does it take to level up your game like never before and most of my career has been spent studying peak performers. What i thought i was going to do today. Vision asked me to speak a little about my work on flow. Which will get to some of. You might be familiar with and a little bit about focus. And what i thought i would do is talk about fifteen things that peak performers know about focus and attention or routinely do surrounding focus attention and flow that most of us miss and this is something that is fairly common that i've noticed over peak performance. Meaning if you want to train people up in flow for example take repeat performers and regular people. Everybody can learn the flow stuff that works fine but afterwards peak performance can sustain it and most everybody else drop back towards baseline over time and a lot of that is peak performers to a lot of stuff through unconsciously along the way a lot of focus that the rest of us missed. So i thought i would talk about these things. We're going to start out with more general ideas about peak performance and get very very focused on focus as we move along so i wanna start with a really obvious statement but you see it very very consistently in all people formats which is a realization. That life is never going to be anything more or less than what you choose to make it. I like to talk about this. And i like to say there are only a couple things. We know absolutely for sure that we absolutely certain about the first is that we get one shot at this life. We know that for sure. Maybe we'll get more. Maybe we don't. We know for sure that we got one shot at this life. We also know we're going to spend about a third of it asleep. Which tells us that the only real question is what we do with the remaining two-thirds right. That's the only question that matters. And what p performers had figured out is that there's no magic pill nothing spectacular is ever gonna happen from them. I was just talking to andrew. Ubuntu neuroscientist at stanford and we do a lot of work with and heap says ever people former learn the same lesson. It is always crawl walk. Run there's no shortcuts. there's no way to get faster. You were going to crawl. Then you're going to walk then you're going to run over and over and over again. This brings us to the second thing which is building on the first. there are no shortcuts. There are no hacks in fact when we talk about p. performance after twenty five years of studying the neurobiology the science what goes on in the brain and the body when people perform their best can tell you. There are no shortcuts. There is quite simply getting your biology to work for you rather than against you. That is everything we mean by peak performance a different way. We sort of talk about this at the floor. Research collective as we like to say personality doesn't scale biology scales in other words. If you're in a looking through the kind of self improvement space at any level if somebody is trying to teach you what worked for them. They figured something out. This works may let me teach it to you. It's going to work for you. They're light they're absolutely lying. In fact that's a really great way to rue lives. As rewarding as cyber security is that's why I'm pushing people to get into because it's a very rewarding field. Now, not flipside is very hard industry as well as a very stressful industry, you have to manage that. In when you're initially getting in, you're going to get a lot of knows you're gonNA have to not take it personal who just? Keep going so. That's a really good point. You you talk about your sort of saying work ethic and your your relentlessness. The importance of relentlessness and so forth how do you avoid burn out? Think I think avoid burn out by having the interest Okay. I do act in own aside I do voiceover own aside, I used to do a lot more acting. But when I got more serious about cyber, security yeah, tab a voiceover you can do at home. So that's that's perfect. Especially now everyone's doing voiceover home I imagine to get good Mike and a good Internet can able can actually So yeah, I WANNA talk about. Know the sort of one of the big cornerstones of a black cyber. What tips would you have to people of color who are trying to enter the world of cybersecurity and what are some of the ingrained pitfalls of the industry that you had to learn to sidestep over the years? Gotcha What tip I would give them is is operated off ten x Rue do ten times more work. Super Hard We we everybody knows we have a diversity problem. Yes, I. For whatever reason it might be that's another conversation. We're unseen. So I'm like do ten times more be creative five ways to. You know just. Be Successful in the industry. To that end could you do you have any recommendations to give to organizations to make their workplace corporate culture more welcoming to a diverse workplace? Gotcha what I would say about that is. I would I I would look within. If. You could honestly say if you could honestly say that was a diverse environment. I would I look into the marketing If I go to a website and I'm looking for careers and allocated website and at website is only one type of person. And that person doesn't look like me. subconsciously, I may say yeah out I may not be a good fit right good fiddle. May Not be able to work. You may not get the job so. Yes. To that point. I think there's a big conversation within the industry and within HR and within people who you know, there are companies that really do want to recruit more more black people, more women, women, more minority professionals. But they're not only you know not able to hire them, but they're sort of. Not able to make themselves desirable to the professionals are trying to recruit. So you know you hear a lot of excuses like well, we'd like to hire more inclusively, but we don't get any applications from women or men minority candidates, and you know this speaks to sort of a problem on on the sort of you know the the sort of job posting side and the HR side. So how do you have any sort of thoughts in this regard into where to find you know more people color and so forth. Guys yet at a got a pretty good idea I. Think I've seen one company doing a pretty big company but I haven't seen it Kinda circulated It is a good idea I would recommend to those, companies. You know zero in. On a SPEC-, use that may be in your city. You can go out talk to them. If they have a security program, you can go out talk to them. Met them know you're interested so that Kinda Pique their interest put your company on Arita lets them know that? Okay, best. That's a big move you come into. ACC You. And you're talking to us, said you got set up this pipeline. So I think that's a good quick easy way to Kinda. Going the right direction
