"Rey Walker. What strikes me most about that song is that if it were written in generations past, it would probably be from the perspective of the guy who's gawking at The boat show girl, as opposed to the perspective of a woman who is on stage at a boat show, uh, and dealing with that Gawker and where she comes from, and what she's thinking about where she's going right was that intentional? Yeah, um You know? I try to stray away from Typical songwriting tropes just because, like there's so many love songs You know? So I try hard to like, have the content of my songs. Just be something, uh, different When I first started writing from character perspectives, I didn't even really realized that was Um, unique or or whatever. It took me. While to kind of hone in on that, And then once I realized I could do it, I really leaned into it. Um But, yeah, it's just, uh It kind of came naturally, I guess. You're going to performance song for us called Voices, which we know about it before we hear it. This one is a Pretty deeply personal song. It's not really from a character's perspective. I I've dealt with Mental illness and, uh, depression and anxiety you know, through the years, and this is just kind of, uh, Sometimes you feel like you're just yelling into the void, and that's what the song is, Um, I think in general, like what tends to why I write about the characters I do. You know? They're like the invisible people. The mentally ill, the homeless. Women who are used, you know. To sell things you know, like with their body of boat, showgirl or prostitute or whatever. Um People who are generally ignored, uh in society. And so I guess I'm just drawn to write songs from their perspective. Um, because typically they lead Uh, pretty interesting lives and Yeah, This is just the songs from a time in my life that was Pretty dark, And once I wrote it, it was I was almost scared to play it for people and then Uh, I decided I needed to because I wanted People to feel understood, and I know people feel the way that I did when I wrote this song, so I felt it was important to play it. All right, Let's hear it. Joshua Rey Walker. Performing voices. I I stare in my reflection through the bottles behind the bar. I didn't know make feel is good behind the wheel of a car. Might put this truck and neutral. Let it roll into, like first now finish of this bottle, So it looks like.

He lived as a as a very quiet and reserved person because of what he experienced he witnessed some horrible things firsthand and also realized that he was a part of it after the fact and so therefore ray was told by his handlers. That not to repeat anything that he had seen or heard or he would Join malcolm therefore for forty six years. Ray separated himself from the family and In fear that he will put us in danger out rey lived alone many years and he Finally in his final years when he realized that he was his cancer was a reoccurring. He wanted to reconnect with family. Because he didn't want to die alone. Lana Del Rey criticized for wearing mesh mask to poetry reading

"Celebrities don't seem to give. Teresa. Judas posted a video for her daughter's birthday party without a single mass insight and Lana del Rey recently were Mesh facemask while meeting fans at her book signing show a Ha. What do we think about this? If I'm wearing a mask? Place. I go and getting lipstick everywhere I think these bitches can wear a mask I have to say, okay I'm concerned about both but I'm more concerned about llamas because she's doing a book signing. So there's. Influx of people that are coming in and out. Into a building, and she doesn't know who they are. They're not fam- family or friends. These are just regular people who are coming in and out is just completely irresponsible if out the seeing that transparent mass though I would have been out of the air told her is a little something about ourselves. We're living in a time where obviously we all know the risks. Now on that note though that is a great mask of all the masks I've ever seen that is the coolest one. I was laughing and then I stopped. I. Pass that comet by hundred. But I will say llamas people just for their part did say that she tested negative, which is why she wore the Mesh math and that she was staying six feet away from fans look at some of these fan pictures that was not a six feet distance like she was very close to some of these people that were alarmed closer than six feet I mean that's extremes me. Even inches even she. TESTED NEGATIVE Everyone, they're tested negative it's just it's this is why you're waiting rounds. We are waiting for saying that they're testing negative and that we find out later the next day they test positive and. Spreading, it's everybody around him who's been around them so you can't that.

Lana Del Rey criticised for wearing mesh mask to meet fans

"Del Rey needs TIO review. What a mask! Actually does. You know we don't wanna really poke fun at people. But when there are large holes in your mask, she was Discombobulate. She received a lot of backlash for wearing a mesh face mask. It's kind of like a lace face mask during a book signing event with fans. It's sparkly. It's pretty, but I think we can all see that you, Khun breathe through this thing very like a fishing net. And it's like, Come on, girl. What do you do in that is it's a see through mass ISS. It's like, does nothing at all. So she was at the grocery shopping complex in Los Angeles, she was out to promote her new poetry book. Violet bent backwards over the grass is the name of it, And that's when she had this Rhinestone encrusted mesh face mask on Yeah. No, no, no, no. Come on. It's not proper celebrities. Don't they have people wrangling them and telling them You know, you think that's gonna work and you're going to get some bad press for that? So because the saying isn't always true. There's no such thing as bad publicity. Now there's such thing as bad publicity thing. Okay,

What are we got to worry about with you know, it's it's a wonderful Ministry for anybody who listens to offer you and think about the accident. It is a wonderful Journey room for you to Rudy for you to oh gosh. I was able to clean my computer. I haven't we all nice birthday a guy's got a way of grabbing it so he drags us. So so yeah, all of us have a story to tell one of the journey to tell and it benefits everyone. So the acting is wonderful wonderful Ministry. It's a it's a marathon as we talked about right but for those who are called one last note, I wanted to bring up on this is that sometimes we're Gods calling us is through did the information but it may not be for the minute. You know what I mean? I guarantee everyone who's entered into the program and had to leave for one reason or another wage. Is a better Christian for it right there a better father brother. It's not a waste of time. It's definitely not a waste of time. Definitely not if anything you you've added many off our books to your library. It's not a lot of books a lot of reading. So yeah for you and your wife for me and my wife exactly. Yeah, but no. Thank you so much for having me on this on your interview. This is awesome. It's been a pleasure. Thank you..

"It is it is very sad, but it's also good because it it promotes transparency if that's what Jake Jake then you know also saying, I know I'm not doing nothing wrong. So I don't mind you know what I mean, you know, I don't mind, you know, if I could do these Becca here to these rules. I'm fine with that. I could do that. So but yeah, it's we have to be very careful on those type of things conscience and that's who you talk about. What's the change? That's another change. Um, Sometimes and you know, I I make them a horrible mistake of going on social media and I'm like, oh I want to respond to that ignorance so bad. I like drop your phone rang. Drop your phone do not do not respond long. Have you ever gotten into any really sticky situations? So with my homilies sometimes I I've preached about things, you know as we both, you know as minorities, right? We I preach about things policies and in a way I am very big on immigration very big on and you know born and I'll preach about it off I get emails I do I do get email. So yeah and you get hate mail, huh? Not necessarily hate mail. Yeah. I just I'm not very pleased with you digging ready right now and so often but I'm very careful about what I preach and it's that it's Doctrine right? It's coming. I just, you know, sometimes it's hard, but I know Father Dad, he's such a wonderful dog. But on on Dignity that we all deserve we are made and likeness of image God. And so we all deserve the same dignity. You know, no matter where wage will email you. Yeah, no matter where I'm born. No matter where a person is born. They deserve the same dignity as me no matter what they deserve the same basic necessities us, right? And so I mean I mean what I'll be right up there and whenever I say things like that, I always back up, you know, I would pick up him on a Vitae Runner one of the big in circles. I bring up show off. It's in Doctrine weird. So it's part of our laws. It's not only what we have to obey but you think it's politics that's it is it is and so that respond the responses I get our political so I stay away from it. I always respond pest wrong because it was there only for politics in here. I'm simply preaching on what we're are called to obey simple as that dead. and so yeah things like that nature one of them was not even recently had to do.

"And wrong? A lot of times they want to have an answer and I said pray about that some more just pray some more on that because as of the accurate information looking at right cuz what you do in the parish, that's part of your we're all called to do it right off his mm. Yes. And so the man I've caught our men who are out there helping those who are in need out there. They'll you know, that's cuz that's what that's what's going to require. That's what we do. You know, that's that's what that's what they're good. That's going to be their first grow as a deacon is service service to others. So what are your plans for the future of Saint faustina or your future as a as a deacon? So I mean plans are saying faustina just continue going like we're going right. That's that's for sure as far as me, you know growing up. I was never a good student school didn't go go with me. So again, I feel like that's just that's the Holy Spirit now again with his sense of humor because I'm going to continue my education wage. So when you go in formation, you either could go through the degree program or certificate program. Okay. Well, I want you to certificate program because when you go to the degree program you do a minimester in the summer. Okay, go in there for days a week every day for three hours for Hope for a whole six weeks. Wow. Yeah, cuz you're not going to one three-hour course, I couldn't wage I got small kids. I mean time we're going to summer vacation we can do that. So I went to the certificate but I immediately as an ordination I went back I'm going I went back to get my degree. So I'm I'm getting my Master's in pastoral study. That's a a pastor degree. Okay, that's all I'm going to actually this fall. I'll be done. I have one more class, but the same time I'm doing online classes to get my truck.

"What is your foot with foot? Let's touch her. Let's her feet and let's go ahead and do our father real quick, but it's still Obedience of faith is sin of it that we are praying every night together, right? And so and it has I will tell you the biggest fruit that came out of the D acting a formation is my marriage strengthening my marriage really it literally not just highlights, but it gleams a huge light hundred times brighter than that one through all the dog. In your marriage it does because that's one thing they protect is the marriage and then so it shines a light on those gaps and then you know where you can yeah where you can work on yet areas that you need off this Marine. Do we call her? That's her name is Marine and at the end of every semester, we do a marriage class. Okay, and we miss Marine comes in there and she's like all these men are like off and she's about to put us in hot water again. So it starts off she gives you talks about marriage. What what what what and then she gives you ten questions wage a wife goes off one way you go off the other answer the questions by yourselves and you'll come together and reflect for the rest of day first year. We did this first is the first thing you do. This is in the office is those four years. I was telling you about, first years did this. Okay. I got the questions. Okay. All right, that's easy know yet. I yes it is no to that. We took Meeting place for me and then he says in our car she comes in in the car and she literally wrote had so much to write she had right on the back and she looked at my paper and she's like, oh this is what's missing from our marriage. I'm like what just happened. It really got serious reading to the point where I'm like, well then maybe we shouldn't do this. Maybe this Deacon thing is for us. I mean, obviously we gotta work on our marriage and every year the last year. I get into the car cuz I'm like, okay, here's my annual beat down and she looks at me and she goes don't worry this year you passed and it was the most beautiful moment ever because I broke down it was I had been working like trying to fill those gaps trying for years. Yeah, and we broke down and we cried together which we do a lot now is something again. I was raised say men. Don't cry. Yeah, and it was just beautiful beautiful beautiful how our marriage is so strong because of Miss Marine, you know, you know the young lady who I thought was a devil of a sudden she's actually my savior and the first time you're rolling your eyes and you're thinking oh gosh. I was like, yeah all those man. I just said every time I was so you're coming to the classroom like, oh, here we go guys. Here we go, and it's year after year with her and then finally, yeah there last year and it's cuz of course we have to a very strong marriage. Right, of course because again and that's one thing I like is that they stress is where husband first and our exit meeting or exit meeting is a one-on-one with the Cardinal home and everyone was exiting meeting the car note looks he's talking to.

"But not being there for their everyday things and the simply because I was always working trying to provide right and that happened when I'm you know, we worked out to be working three jobs and then I'd come home and then we'd go to a movie and I'll probably be sleeping in the movie. Right? And then that that when my wife had brought that to my attention ones, I we got less jobs, like I got less jobs, but we started and that's how the soccer developed to we would go on picnics because picnic is a lot cheaper than a movie and started having that really quality time with him, right? So not meaning again. I'm just learning how to be a dad. Right? I looked at I looked at the what do you call that the I guess the physical part the material part of being a providing and not being there really for them the everyday thing cuz that's the way our parents were our parents were this is how we show our love by birth. Exactly. Yeah, that's exactly right, you know is how we showed our love and that's what I was trying to do. And so but no these kids nowadays. They want that to don't even wrong. They want the material being there for them being always there for them trying to be every practice and stuff. Like is there a lot of pressure in any way being a deacon now as a father like well, you're a deacon you should act this way now as a father or well as a changed the way you parent or the way you think about things I think that came should and I know it's a a it's conscious right on my mind. But I mean again when I had the my younger three, I think already being so involved in the entire life being involved in my faith made me a better father, right? I think that the act and it just confirms that yeah because again like my order gets worse a man. You're so much more patient, you know dead. Yeah, and I was in that wisdom that comes with age but mostly I came with just being more involved in my faith. How is that affected your relationship with your parents? So with my mom she brags about me all the time, of course, right? And so so she she's not she's no longer with my my my adopted father. And so um, so she's no longer with him. And so I still talk with him not as much I should but you know, that's there's there's no fought in there either way right here. He went off and he had a another family and so he's doing his thing. So it's not like there's no there's no animosity there any like that we just you know, we just we have our family our lives but mom is very proud of course and so, you know brings mine all the time. Sometimes she calls me Deacon. I'm like Mom dumped I'm here. Yeah, but how does that work wage? Cuz I always wonder with priests. Yeah with a deacon. How does that I don't mean so just Saint faustina as my home. Yes. All right, so it's I'm pretty sure this is a good example of followed that's even mentioned it in his one of his homilies when he goes to his house. He's just that right he gets stared. No one saying oh Father. Hey, welcome come sit. You know he gets there his mom selling home..

So are they girls Spread out or do you have to batch? We have two batches? Okay. Oh, yeah, we have our 26 and then are twenty-three and are 21 children. We had While We're Young Living what we're married civilly. Okay, and so my wife had her tubes tied and so when we came back with the church and everything, we just we we wanted to have more children. We knew that that was the blessing and so we talked to father about it and he's like, well, you don't have three kids here. You're okay. Don't worry and like her father. She had her tubes side. We didn't know she was she's already confessed. She's okay, but we still wanted more children. Okay, and so we prayed on it and we prayed it and my wife she just you know, she was a brave one. I thought you make that decision to have your her tubes tied. Well did a potential thing. Is it more of an ignorance thing because of our age? Okay. Yep. "The year and then and the third year you're doing your sacristan, you know, and it was cool for me cuz it's tough Armour was already doing right so it's pretty neat. Okay become a sacristan and you learn how to prepare them as a pair the books your last year kind of like with the Priestly formation there last year there a deacon. Well our last year with the lights which already have been an acolyte for many years. And so that was easy for me to do so how many years were you in faustina before you became a deacon dead? Well, I was seeing it from the beginning. So that was what 2013-2014. I already forgot when we started this place. And so and then I just got ordained in 2019. So yeah, I'm actually the now you say the youngest but I'm actually the only Deacon quote unquote born here at Saint faustina, right? "For Spiritual, okay early in the morning. You have to be there 8:00 and you're there till no no earlier. You're there till 5 p.m. And this is you and your wife. Yes. Yes. It's first two years. After those two years, then the nervous comes because that's when you find out whether you're actually accepted officially officially into the program. Is there a whole wedding process? So yeah with your background and everything during the two years you're taking numerous psych tests a logical test. One of them is literally an 800 question and you know, just you just shade in you know, multiple choices shading and you you get to pick up after a while that they ask you the same question many different ways. Okay, right what questions are those I leave now an example would be heavy and it's funny. Have you ever got angry at your wife? Okay. Well, I think every man could ever make mistakes. Yeah, right. So what do you do when you get angry and they give you these options? Okay, and so you go through Thursday. Cause of course you go through financial credit check. Okay, because to be a deacon you have to be responsible person. Of course, they look at your home your what do they call it your your what you owe your racial? Yeah, how much you owe to how much you make and all this good stuff. Yeah, make sure you're not one of those types. That'll embezzle funds exactly. Yeah, or just even a collection. I you know, and I don't mind sharing this. So my first son was born in Nineteen Ninety Four in August and they say hey we had this $640,614 medical bill in Nineteen Ninety Four that you never paid. I don't even I mean wow that's never even came up when I bought my house about my car. I like this is like the formation of them are are are strict more strict than IRS, you know. Yeah. This is that's like like I'm like, I didn't know about that audit level. It's very obvious double its birth. On a level because one thing they'll continue saying is that we're going to begin to live in glass homes, right? We have to be very transparent to do and everything. And so yeah after those two years were there last year last class? They literally put on a on a power point everything that's required to be a deacon and it's a lot and I think the reason why they don't do that as for those who are outright denied, okay, but those who are postponed what questions are, you know, sort of answers would like immediately disqualify you from becoming a deacon the obvious stuff that you could think of from alcoholism alcoholism. If you're went through that drug abuse that views criminal record, you know, I mean, we're not perfect when I call to be perfect, right? That's that's no way because especially as deacons we can empathize with people we don't understand wage. If we if we ourselves haven't had our fall, how can we help those who have right and so and that's another thing that disqualify you actually really are two perfect. Oh, really? Yeah, but I tell you again. I was not planning on being a deacon. I honestly didn't want to be a deacon but I wasn't going to be disobedient to my priest so I'm like, okay, no problem. When I go in there. I'm going to tell him all the bad things. I've done in my life. They're going to be like, oh, thank you for coming. I could go back to my pastor and say hey father. I tried, you know, they say, okay. This is my way out. I'm guessing my way out..

"Yes, and they give you these questions and they they literally tell you go home take a few months answer these questions. If you're still interested will send you another email and you can either answer you're coming or answer you you're not, what was the scariest thing that they they told you this is the time sacrifice it's going to take so how do you feel about having to miss anniversary parties? How do you feel about having to miss your child's birthday party? They get you right at the core cuz everyone will be there are married men. Yes. Yes, oh and the wives and and they're and they're they're targeted toward the wise because you know any any any good married man, though that your true boss is your wife right? Have you want to be happy? You want a happy happy life, you know dead. And so they target the wise which is a good thing because these are the sacrifices you have to make and so if you go back and then you after the wage it takes about a year of discernment, then you start your classes and these are pre Recs. So a year of how how how periodic are the meetings you go to any tattoo meanings. They give you that long time to to like ice the kicker. Okay, I think you know, so just two meetings in that year..

The Rey Rivera Case

"Where we left off yesterday captain, they had just found missing ray Rivera's body inside the Belvedere tell which is now primarily being used for condominiums. And he has crashed through the roof. We still do not know for what reason and his lifeless body is found inside the building. Array had multiple injuries including lacerations, fractured ribs, punctured lungs, of course, suggesting that he had fallen from a height into this room. Some of raise injuries are stated to be consistent with a fall while others are stated not to be and in particular, they cite his tibias being fractured. The medical examiner will go on record saying that this does not seem to be consistent with a fall that would be your shins. Correct. also found we have raised flops that were found on the roof near the whole that he crashed through. One broken and one with fresh drag marks raise glasses are found and they appear to be in good shape. His cellphone is found the phone has scratches on it, but it is not broken. It's in working order raise money clip. which was engraved wedding gift from Alison. That she and his brother say he always carried with him. They do not find this on raise person or on the rooftop. Other than that it seems pretty consistent the what allison and others believe he would have left with him that day taken with him when he left the House that day. Everything was found on him with him or on the rooftop and I'm assuming they never found the money clip backout his house or any. Then right this was not found on him never been located at all I think it'd be something that would be completely washed away from the story. Had it been recovered? Okay. So the problem with a lot of this is the whole itself. And where Ray is found. According to unsolved mysteries, there were three possible places from which ray could have jumped. Or maybe been pushed her from to end up going. Creating that whole and then crashing down into that unoccupied room and for people who haven't seen episode I am going to post all these pictures. There's a bunch of pictures of the actual hotel or Condo complex whatever you. WanNa call it. Can Walmart+ Beat Amazon Prime?

"When you think of a Walmart what comes to mind. Probably, not that it's some tech savvy subscription company but tomorrow, the retail giant is launching its subscription service called Walmart plus and some see that as a player take background from the company's big rival Amazon Dot. com. I'm here with Jason Del Rey senior correspondent here at recode Jason thanks for being with us. Teddy. So, how big a deal is the launch? Of Walmart plus. So we'll see how the launch actually goes off, but the idea of Walmart loss and the fact that Walmart after all these years is finally putting paid membership out there in a big way that is a big deal. Walmart's trying to lean into what they do really well, and that is mainly really really low prices on groceries. So the core of Walmart plus. Is a same day or next day delivery service focusing on. Fresh groceries that said the idea is that you beyond groceries. To. Many. Many of the Nadine, most popular products that you would find in a Walmart store. I think Walmart. Has said you know a selection of over one hundred thousand items, but on top of that. Walmart. Plus is hoping to add perks that maybe Amazon can't match. So one of them is at launch. Discounts on gas at one gas stations and other partnering gas stations. It's something like no more than five cents a gallon. But if you're someone who drives a lot shops at Walmart. Over the course of the year maybe that makes a difference to you. And over time while they're not talking about details I'd expect to see. Other. Perks that may be are more Walmart like and more geared toward sort of the long-term Walmart customer than. Some of the other perks we see in prime such as you know, prime music, for example. So the sounds like Disney plus it feels and looks like Amazon prime. But like taking a step back here, why is Walmart doing any of this? Why is it getting into the subscription business in the first place? So I think there's a couple reasons. Starting really with Amazon prime big companies have trained basically everyone in this country to start consuming via subscriptions. So of course, you have prime with more than one, hundred, fifty, million paying customers around the world. But you also have the rise of. Subscription services like Netflix. So like spotify and the like and what you find is often when you subscribe to something, you want to get the most out of it. Right. So what does that mean for Amazon Amazon that means prime customers spend more and shop more frequently than Amazon than nine prime customers do. They also often price compare less. So they're sort of like absorbed into this Amazon only World Walmart is trying to build sort of deeper relationships. They probably would call it with their customers, make them great customers, and then with their customers make sure you know that this sort of locks them in. So they don't Fly Amazon in the first place. There's a couple of other reasons for fast. Delivery is really expensive same day next day delivery. It's really expensive. So Walmart's hoping to maybe subsidize some of that expense through these subscription fees, and then one of the last things I'll mention is just that I think they do feel whether they admitted or not that they need to do something as an alternative to Prime I reported earlier this year that more than half of Walmart's top spending families are now Amazon prime customers maybe they can win some of them back with this. It is about twenty one dollars cheaper a year. And there are trade-offs but maybe they went some back and maybe more importantly they just sort of stem the tide of. Existing customers who haven't switched to prime yet from going there in the first place.

"I worked in the medical world for twenty two years and one of the doctors I worked with started arguing with me that Lana del Rey was never going to amount to anything and that basically she wasn't very good and I said you're absolutely wrong. Well, that was two, thousand ten. By the time we get to twenty nineteen we all know what happened to twenty, nine, thousand, nine, right Obviously. You know what happened in twenty nine, thousand, nine, Lana del Rey, released her album norm Norman F rockwell not going to say not going to say the word because I don't I try not to use any explicit language on this podcast which helps us with trying to find sponsors. Okay. But Norman FM Rockwell. Right. She released the album on August the thirtieth twenty, nineteen or eight. Now, this album went on to be listed how many I don't even know how many list here. It was it was. Considered one of the best albums of twenty nineteen on list after list after I could sit here and read all of these list. It's like one of one of the best albums of twenty nine thousand nine. Hundred Twenty best albums of two, thousand nineteen one of the fifty best albums of two, thousand, nine, nineteen one of the best albums of two, twenty, nineteen, the twenty I mean it's just list after list after list after list showing up that Norman F in Rockwell by Lana del Rey was one of the best albums of twenty nineteen off so. The album has now shown up on some of the best albums of the decades. Here's some of the list two, hundred best albums of the twenty tens. Lana del Rey Norman Rockwell's on it one hundred greatest albums of the twenty. Okay Lana Del Rey Norman. Rockwell's on it. Albums of the decade the fifty best albums of the decade greater sums of the two, thousand, ten, one, hundred best albums at the two, thousand, ten, thirty, best pop albums. I could go through all of these lists. I, mean she's a pretty much if there's a list of one of the best albums of twenty, nine, thousand, nine or one of the best albums of the decade nor Lana Del Rey. Norman Rockwell is all over it. So to that doctor who told me I didn't know what I was talking about in two thousand ten. How do you like me now? Okay. Yeah. I knew what I was talking about all eight. So guess what? Someone, who's had that much success and has influenced music that much when we get news that she's about to release a new track and a new album that, hey, we need to be paying attention. So Lana del Rey is teasing. and. The name of the track is Tulsa Jesus Freak. Tulsa Freak. Now the title caught my attention because Tulsa assuming that's obviously referring to Tulsa Oklahoma now, if you know anything about Tulsa..
