How and when to remove children from their homes? A federal lawsuit raises thorny questions
"A former Massachusetts family is hoping that a lawsuit will set a precedent for state child welfare agencies that want to remove children from their homes. Sarah Perkins says when she lived in Waltham Massachusetts last year, she took her three month old to a hospital emergency room for a high fever. She says when x-rays were done, doctors found a rib fracture and days later. We heard a knock at the door and it was armed police officers with several people from the department of children and families there to take our kids. Perkins says her son likely sustained the injury weeks earlier when her mother removed the baby from a car seat, he slipped and her mom caught him by grabbing one of his arms, still Perkins says it took her and her partner three months in about $50,000 in attorney's fees to have parental custody fully restored. Perkins and her partner are plaintiffs and a lawsuit alleging constitutional violations, including deprivation of parental rights without due process. I'm Donna water

"AP's sports and Mike Reeves, it was a frantic finish at the Indianapolis 500, our Tom McKay reports. Josef Newgarden used a one lap shootout to grab the lead from 2022 champ Marcus Ericsson to win the Indy 500. You know, I wasn't looking to take anyone else out of the race, but I was going to put my car on the line to win. And I was either going to win the race or I was going to end up in the wall. Newgarden driving for team owner Roger Penske survived a chaotic final 40 miles, which saw the race stop three times for Rex. Major League Baseball the rays win a wild one over the Dodgers in Tampa Bay, correspondent Steve Carney provides the details. The Tampa Bay Rays used a 7th inning RBI ground out by wander Franco to break a ten ten tie and defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 11 to ten. The Yankees used a 7 run third inning to defeat the Padres ten to 7, Aaron judge and Harrison Bader hit home runs to support winning pitcher Garrett Cole, who is now 6 and zero. This was a good team win today for sure. I mean, being able to kind of subdue them through the middle innings and keep the momentum. I thought played in our favor, but it's just such a luxury to have the offense. Isaac Paredes homers as Tampa Bay Rays beat Los Angeles Dodgers 11-10
"Tampa Bay Rays used to 7th inning RBI ground out by wander Franco to break a ten ten tie and defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 11 to ten. Both starters got hit around as Gavin stone allowed 7 runs in two innings of work while Josh Fleming allowed ten runs in 6 innings, including 5 home runs. Reliever Jason Adams says Fleming ran into some bad luck with good hitters, but managed to battle. So I made a lot of good pitches today. If you go back and look and they just found some holes, so they were aggressive early. That's baseball. And he battled for us, which was huge. We needed that out of him. So yeah, to come away with the wind and a well fought game like that is big for everybody. FTX CEO's Legal Billings Hint at Comeback for the Exchange
"It wouldn't be a Taco Tuesday without referencing some insanity regarding FTX. FTX's CEO's legal billings continue to hint at 2 .0 and now we've got something from the New York Times and I've actually got a hot take about this. Oh, I get to do the hot take first? Okay. So my hot take is that I actually think, and again, you guys are not financial guys, I think that the reboot of FTX is going to actually be a good thing. FTX really had a lot of great products and services that were available. However, they had absolute trash management. And I think if a mature responsible adult can actually take the money and be transparent, not use customer funds for weird things, then I think that the platform does have some sort of chance to do well. That sounds like creditor talk. It does not sound like it. No, I'm actually, I am an FTX US creditor, but I'm being serious. They really had great products and services. And one thing that Sam did well was he was able to communicate to his audience and pull or integrate things that they wanted, which was good. However, they just were scammers behind the scenes. So it sucks. So I don't know, maybe there will be some sort of good that comes out of this. Either way, I'm probably not going to touch it. And I'm not going to tell my audience about it. Did the things work though, Wendy? I mean, we don't have FTX here in Canada, but I heard they didn't really work all that well. They did. They did. Okay. A lot of users really like the interface. Like the UI on FTX was like pretty slick, et cetera. I don't think it's really going to happen. I mean, I think he's exploring all avenues, right? Because JJ Ray, the third, his mandate is to give as much money back to creditors as possible. And if this is a possibility for doing so, then sure, put some billable hours on there and indicate that you're at least thinking about it. Whether or not this will actually happen, I guess I'm a little bit less optimistic on this ever coming to pass, but this is the man's job. He's out there to make sure that people can get their money back to the best of his ability. And I think the fact that he's considering this is interesting. Maybe it's a bit little outside the box thinking, but bringing this back in some form may ultimately bring revenue in the door that could make creditors whole. So credit's in for thinking it, but I don't, I don't see it happening.

He's got to find the love in the sport. I have to, I would love to go back and just ease off a little bit. For sure. And I would say this with all parents and I'm sure it's a very common thing, but remember why you're there. Remember why you're at the game. You're at the game because your child wants to be there. If you pay for extra skating lessons, because your child wants it, it doesn't mean that they're going to turn into Connor McDavid. No. If they want it and you can provide it, then you provide it. If your son or daughter wants skills coach for soccer and they've got it in their heart to go do the work, that's all you get from it. You get their enjoyment out of it. You don't do it because you think, oh, maybe one day at the end of the day, there's a payoff for all of this. Their childhood support their childhood. Well said, back to Instagram and again, the spirit of the season from dawn of Hamilton, right? In the Christmas spirit, what are your favorite Christmas traditions? We always have a big Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, actually. We have a Christmas brunch cami loves cooking Christmas brunch and it's got all kinds of stuff like that we might not normally have. And I just, I just love it. I love seeing how happy she is when she makes it. Because she just like, first of all, I don't know that I can accurately describe what the kitchen looks like when it's finished, but oh man, it's so good. So we have that. We also have, I think the last decade, we've had the elf on the shelf. Oh, nice. And we really, we really get a kick out of that. Moving it around and hiding the elf and everybody trying to find it and I don't know if you've seen and I believe it's on Instagram. And I think it's out of the UK, but this little guy wakes up in the morning. And he's got somebody who's taking a marker and drawn goggles on his face and the mustache and everything else. And beside his bed is the elf on the shelf holding a pen. And a little guy is so bent because this elf in his mind has done this to it is sleep. So I just get a kick out of that because unfortunately, or fortunately, I guess, depends on how you look at Holly and I didn't get we never experienced the alpha to shelf. You know, Katie and mason are 23, almost 24 and 21. Yeah, you know what's going to happen though drinks? When they find their partners and they have their kids, there they go. There's the elf on the shelf of their tradition. I can't wait to get a part of that. Yeah, it's the best. I will say this about Christmas traditions. Yeah. When we were growing up, nobody ever beat the Ferraro's with their Christmas lights up, ever. Really dad was on it like that? Yeah, because he put them up one year and they stayed up for about 11. Straight. Right through the summer. Multicolored too? Multi colors. We'd go with dad. Why should we take the lights down? Nah, then we just got to put them back up. So I got stung by the company that put up our Christmas lights. Yeah, you mentioned that. Yeah, yeah. So they're clear. I think I'm just going to leave them up there. Just in Ferraro tradition. I'm leaving them up there. You can't barely see them. They're clear lights. And not turn them on. Dregs, and then next November, you can say to your buddies when they come over. See, I am again. First up with the lights. On it. Yeah. So Brian mudra, I don't know if you've noticed or not, but he's a constant contributor to ask grand Drake's ending. What is money got now? Yeah. More time with no golf, by the way. Well, his question is, does dregs like old fashions do you it? The spelling is ridiculous. He spelled completely incorrectly. No, I don't. And nor do I like manhattans in my reason is, and this is just going to sound like a ridiculously shameless plug, right? When you've got the quality of whisky that we're furnished with, you don't mix it with the nonsense, right? So I can appreciate the old school people out there like the old fashioned, all of that. So there you go, muddy. He sends in a question like every two weeks. So I think we should take a couple of hockey questions. What do you got there? What do you got? Well, let me just peruse here. There were one or two that I thought were interesting. You know, we haven't talked about the Vancouver Canucks in a bit. And boy, for the first 15, 20 games, we talked about the Vancouver Canucks on The Rain drags podcast a lot. So we know that besser was like they'd be traded horvat likely to be traded. Maybe somebody sees a fit entire Myers. And I mean, we know they're open for business. So put your GM cap on here for a moment. What would you see as Brock besser's value in a trade? And after you answer, I'm going to just kind of round it out a little bit because I have a thought on this as well. Well, you got to remember two years left on his contract. Yeah. Which will bring the price down because it seems like everybody's looking for one year or expiring or that type of thing. I don't think it's a huge return. I think it's a difficult contract to make fit. Unless he can find a way to start scoring again. At the pace that he was scoring prior to getting hurt. That to me is the biggest challenge. So when I say not, you know, I'm not, it's not a first round pick. It's a higher end prospect or second round pick. Okay. That question from Canucks 5. And I'm actually going to lump in the next one, which is am I far off from Twitter at, what's that? Am I far off or no? Or what do you think? No, I don't think you're far off, but I'm going to lump. I'm going to lump in this next question from Twitter from at P dog 57 to explain because he's asking which of the Canadian teams are most likely to make the biggest splash by trade. And I mean, it seems pretty obvious. I mean, let's see what mercury all does. But Vancouver is the most in play here. So I think it's going to be Vancouver. I think your assessment of what the return on bester is, is fairly accurate, but I think there'll be some flexibility there, depending on what you get back for bull horvat and maybe some of the other pieces. You know what the needs are or what the wants are. They want a young center, right? They want to a young right shot defenseman. They need to clear off some cap space. I feel like they could be a little bit more flexible with besser and take an NHL player back. If it was the right NHL player, young NHL player, and they shaved some of the cap hit off by moving out vessel. So I think that there is some flexibility, but as a one off, if it's better going out and you feel like you've got to shave the space elsewhere, maybe simply by moving orbat, then and the 6 million that you probably going to have to shed and moving out Tyler Myers, then I think that they can probably get through that way. What else have we got here? So many different ways we can go. Oh, all right. Well, let's stay with Canada for a moment. Are the oilers in trouble ray. This is from at Daryl 43, or do we think that they're going to be okay once Vander Cain comes back and hopefully they're goaltending stabilizes? Well, I'm almost certain the oilers made the conference final last year. So with that becomes this expectation that there's not going to be a dip that it's going to be continued growth, which generally doesn't happen. Yeah. They were fine cocaine got hurt. They miss Cain on several levels. If you look at the forward group, Cain was gone, Yamamoto, I think it's got three goals. This year. And was injured for a good part of it. Those are those are two of their top 6 forwards. Or top 7, I guess. I think they miss McLeod when he's been out. I do think they need to add another defenseman. Are they okay, man,

We've also got some fancy shirts in now, including Nike golf shirts, so thank you to Canadian club whisky for helping out with that. We're going to start with Instagram in a question from merv's got an interesting question. Wants to dive into the dressing room right? Money on the board. Who pays it? Who gets it? How do they get it? What is it used for? Now he's talking about, okay, you get traded from the Hartford whalers to the New York islanders. Now you're playing the Hartford whalers or islanders to the rangers, whatever the scenario, and you're going to put a little money on the board. So how much is there a percentage on the guy? Depends on the guy. There's no real formula for it. I assume it's much more than when I played. We used to actually tape the cache on the board, but now they just, now they just write it on with a marker. And whoever's the treasurer or we used to call them the fine master. They collect the money and at some point during the year you'll have a team lunch or a team, get together of some sort and the fund pays for that. So, but you get traded guaranteed you're sitting in a locker room, like if it was when I got traded to the islanders, I'd be sitting in the islanders room and somebody would say, you know, come on, Razer, these guys didn't watch anymore, how much you got on the board. You'd have to go up and put your cash up there. And then pissed off you were. I mean, if you were really sour, it would be more. And if you put up a little bit, if you were a little light, you might get a few boos and then there'd be a little pressure putting a few more dollars up there. That's awesome. All right, another one from Instagram from Nathan. What is the role of the fourth coach behind the bench? Because Nathan says, as we all see, I see a lot of benches now with four coaches on the bench. I guess it kind of depends, does it? Yeah, I'd like to answer that for you. I'd like to answer that for you. I'm not real sure what they do other than it's just another guy back. Honestly, I don't know. I see the three coach thing, right? One guy works on the D, one guy works on the forwards and the head coach manages both. But the other guy, I'm not real sure what he's doing. I'd like to come up with something really creative for you, Greg. I just think he's, when you look back behind the bench, by the way, it looks like a bus stop. There's about three trainers for coaches like crowded back there. All right, as soon as stick with Instagram here, putting you on the spot here a little bit, but it's somewhat team related. What's this is from Jordan. What's the funniest or craziest Christmas holiday story you ever experienced? Now, I'm thinking maybe it was a team experience, a teen gift. Maybe it's world junior related through travels and whatnot. I don't know. I don't know that I have one, you know what I always like though was the last practice before the Christmas break. We'd always have a Christmas party. And so you'd come to lock a room the trainers would make a Christmas tree on an upside down hockey sticks and put some lights around it or whatever they had. Oh, nice. Yeah. And you'd have these gag gifts. So the guys were just sitting around. We'd bring lunch in and just sit there and you'd open these gag gifts up and the guy, you know, for me, I got one year, I got a little doctor's kit. And the doctors had to be explained was because I have no patience. You know, if a guy had a rather large cranium, somebody would take the puck bucket and tape it in the road colors tape and put his number on the back, like that was his road helmet. So I just always loved that sort of stuff. I just thought it was kind of funny and well not kind of funny. It is funny and it is fun. Everybody would sit around and just kind of laugh. And so that's kind of for the team, my favorite stuff that happened. All right, to app ray and Drake's Twitter from Sean esri. This one is for you, right? It's a hypothetical. So you're in a charity game, okay? You get to pick two forwards two defensemen and a goalie to start the game with. What former teammates are you picking to have the most fun with? Maybe not the most talented, but the most fun to play with. And then he's got a follow-up. So I've got a goalie. Yeah. Oh, that would be heels. I mean, first of all, we would lose because Glenn Haley wouldn't stop a shot. Yeah. He'd be like, without puck? Defenseman, just going to go through the teams. If I wanted to have a competitive team, I'd pick Brian leach. Because he was, he was among the very best that I ever got a chance to play with. Only played with them for little. No, I think I would pick rob Blake. Rob Blake would be would be my other guy. Front Luke robitaille, for sure. Right. I have played in a fantasy camp with Luke. He never passed to me. He said, I looked over, I saw you there, and I figured I was the best option. He never cost him. So he would be, he would be the guy. And Andrew brunette, for sure. Oh, nice. Okay, there's a follow-up follow-up from Sean. Who is the most talented player you ever played with? Alex kovalev. What's in every sense? Just high level skill. Yeah. Amazing skill so strong, so creative, like one time we were playing and, you know, Alex sometimes would get, I think he'd forget to shoot. And so we're playing on a line. Me him and Luke robitaille and Luke says to him, Al, you've already beat that same defenseman three times. You could shoot at that. It was like it was a game to him. He was so good. So good. Hey, it's ray Ferraro. Here to let small business owners and entrepreneurs know about something pretty cool. My friends at north beach agency have teamed up with their digital partners craft growth to offer a free website and social audit to track small businesses. So you can finally find out just how your website stacks up against your competitors. And yeah, you heard right, they are offering this for free. So go to craft growth .NET to get started on your free website and social audit today. That's craft growing. All right, we've got a bit of a philosophical parenting question. This one also from Twitter at water wheel 96. So it says when I listen to the podcast and when I heard ray talking about Reese, I wondered about how his parenting style relating to sports has changed from his older boys, Matt and Landon to his younger boys Reese and Riley. And the lessons that you learned along the way. I would say there might be there is nothing more powerful whether it's sports or anything of watching your children do what they do. Like if you see their love for it, you just want it for them so badly. I don't want it for me. I've already had my day. I want it for them so badly. I see their love for it. And I just want to support it. As far as it's changing, incredibly, I wish I would have had the experience and age

"That means you're looking at 30 plus starts from your backup. What are you getting out of that? I mean, that's a question mark in Minnesota. Yeah. No question. All right. But let me just stop on that. Really forgot to St. Louis Nashville Winnipeg. You know, they're just going to, you know, I guess Dallas is in there too. They're going to kind of slug it out for that next little spot in the division because St. Louis is always going to be pretty good team. They're big, they can score their defense, maybe not what it used to be. Nashville is a good team. They're a good team. I mean, I don't know, but can you see sorrows have that year again? Everybody's got question marks there. Every team is rather, every team's got a question, Mark. What's Winnipeg? I don't know. I have no idea what Winnipeg. So that'll be the top two teams for me or Colorado and Minnesota. The central is as complicated as any division, right? I mean, we just chewed on the metropolitan for similar reasons. But, you know, if you exclude Colorado, I mean, it is a crapshoot from top to bottom there. We did the season preview show on TSN on Monday night. And most of the fellow analysts felt pretty strongly on the changes made with the Calgary flames. And it seems to be a one, two kind of flop there. Is it going to be Edmonton? Is it going to be Calgary that ultimately wins the Pacific division? And I've got time for both arguments. I need to see it from Calgary. I mean, it's obvious. It starts with Jacob markstrom. Their defense looks good, but changes up front are we absolutely certain it's going to pay off. Don't know that. Edmonton went pretty deep last year. Jack Campbell, the answer and goal in Edmonton. But you really shouldn't look beyond the likes of Los Angeles, right? Or Vegas has been in turmoil for a couple of seasons. So I stayed away from the Vegas golden knights, but again, for all the right positive competitive reasons, this division is as compelling as just about any other division. Yeah, I'll start with LA because I think they're going to be a pain. And I think they're entering into a phase where they're going to be really good for a number of years. That blue line of theirs. They got so many defensemen. They're going to have to figure out what to do with them all. And they've got about 5 right handed D so when the time comes, rob Blake is going to have some assets that are going to be coveted around the NHL. So right when you think their defense is deep, Brandt Clark, a 19 year old, their first rounder a couple of years ago makes a team. Like just jams another body in there. Another right handed shot. They get Sean walker back from ACL surgery. They get douty back from his wrist surgery. They already have an excellent defense of club. They add Kevin fiala to the forward group that can always use a pop of flash and quick offense.

"Finally release of their chronicle series is very exciting for the podcast and everyone associated with CC because the chronicle series raised we know wraps up with the 45 year old Canadian club and it is almost here. It will be available basically everywhere shortly and we've sampled the evidence. Not of the 45, but of the chronicle series and the series has been lights out good. So it would make perfect sense that the 45 could should will be the best of the law. Well, how would it not be? I mean, how lucky have we been Drake's to be to be affiliated with Canadian club, but to get the samplers, we had a wonderful dinner where we got a lot of the history of how Canadian club came to be and it's a cool story and it's an unbelievable sip. It is looking forward to it, the 45 year old is part of the chronicle series to wrap up. Thank you to CC. Big announcement this morning, ray, as we record the podcast, The Rain Riggs occupy on Tuesday morning. And you my friend have announced on Twitter that after 14 glorious years at TSN for personal for family reasons, you're moving on. I thought Drake's that I was going to be able to do all of my TSN stuff that I did, which is the 26 leaf games plus the world junior tournament plus the, we call them the one off shows, right? Like the free agent frenzy and trade center and all that stuff. Plus my ESPN gig. And on paper it looked fine. The problem became the travel was, I just couldn't do it anymore. I just couldn't do it. And so by not, this is basically what it came down to by not doing the TSN portion of things for me. I'll gain about 80 days at home between the beginning of October and April. And to me, I just can't do it anymore. It's funny, I don't feel any relief. You know, I thought that once I carved that out of my schedule, I'd kind of go, oh, this is great. I don't feel that relief yet. But I know when I'm not traveling, it'll be much better for my family. Selfishly, it'll be better for me because I'll be able to be there for the kids, more and now with kami working full time. It's like, man, it was a merry go round in there. And the kids deserve better and there's a time I think for all of us that it stops being about you and it's about everybody else and that times now for me. I loved it. I loved everything at the end. Well, look, even working with you. You know buddy. Yeah, look, and we're a persistent group.

"If you live at a higher altitude let's say denver or kito ecuador you'll have more radiation exposure than someone who lives at sea level likewise flying in airplanes will increase your radiation exposure due to cosmic rays. Your level of exposure will primarily. Depend on how much you fly. And at what altitude you fly for the most part cosmic rays pose. No real health read all life. Forms throughout the history of life have been exposed to cosmic rays and we evolved for our dna repair low level radiation damage. One thing that can't be damaged by cosmic. Rays is computers. If a particle hits the right part of a processor or memory chip it can flip a bit. Causing an error in two thousand and three there was an election in belgium that was conducted electronically the results were more than the number of votes cast in an audit checking. The paper ballots also cast found that the air perfectly corresponded to a single bit in a single computer which could only have been caused by stray cosmic ray particle this is why computers on spacecraft have to have so much redundancy the space shuttle's head to have triple redundancy for exactly this reason the issue of cosmic rays is also a huge consideration for long term spaceflight the only time humans have ever been outside of earth's magnetic field was during the apollo missions and that was only briefly the issue of cosmic rays is a considerable one that needs to be considered for any mission to mars. One proposal would be to surrounded ship with water. Which would stop most of the cosmic rays. The problem is that water is heavy and either we would need to get it from the moon or we need to get it from earth. There's one thing one big thing. I haven't yet mentioned. Where do cosmic rays come from. Sure they come from space but where in space. Exactly the truth is no one really knows. You can't just detect. The direction of particle is coming from. Because they're so easily influenced by magnetic or gravitational fields not just the gravity and magnetism of earth but also that of the sun or even possibly the galactic centre the particles which are flying around space may come from other stars the center of our galaxy or even other galaxies wants a particle is jettisoned. You can basically travel forever until it runs into something. The smallest change in it's trajectory will render its origin impossible to determine. They're actually many theories about where they come from. But it's very difficult to actually prove anything. Cosmic rays are all around us all the time and always have been. There really isn't anything you can do about them. And so long as you remain on earth it also really. Isn't anything to worry about. "Thousand twenty one winner of the best mattress in canada from lance ray What is the point of no move clauses if they can be waived by players. Isn't there a better way for players to have enough control like once they reach a certain age of years of nhl service. They get an opportunity to name three teams annually that they cannot be moved to something like that. I mean they do do that right. Maybe not under the context of the no move clause more in a modified note trade clause. But let's just say that it gives players more control but it does leave flexibility for the team to maximize the value of their assets. Your thoughts on the no move no-trade because they have kinda. It is protection for the player. But if i'm the general manager and ray ferraro is a no move plaza. And i come to ray and i say hey i'd like to move you. You're not what you want. Were your role is going to diminish all of that. Isn't that basically telling you that you're not really welcome anymore. So maybe there's a better opportunity elsewhere. It is and if i really like it there. I can tell him to beat it now. That's the whole point of having the no move. Don't negotiate the men. I can't believe general managers got so free with these no move clauses. It's their own fault. Yeah like negotiate in a ten team trade. The reason you like when lance says you know they can name three teams in or something like that gives lots of flexibility. That's the point when you earn this. No move clause or the team wants to give you one. You don't want the team to have any flexibility. The whole point is. I want to stay here. Yeah so if they get to a point you go and ask them. You don't have to say yes and the gm can say. Oh i'm gonna make your life miserable really how you going to do that. You're paying me millions of dollars now. Now it's tough like that. I just sorry. I just this stokes me a bit because i think this is one hundred percent on the general managers. Don't give them out. And if you lose a player that you have to give no trade to for eight years unless it's connor mcdavid. What are you doing that for right. Don't go get another player in some. Gm's do take that hardline position. I would say the majority obviously do not. But some do thanks for that lance from paul. Ray you played in the days of the single official and the role of the enforcers so based on lack of consistent officiating in the to rep system and multiple player injuries from second fractions headshots and limited to no accountability. "Out. At indy dot ca. From luke ray. Do you think adam fox would be getting more consideration for the norris trophy. It was not just his second season. Luke says i feel like dougie. Hamilton morgan riley shea weber. We're doing what fox is doing our if they were at there'd be nonstop talk about them winning the norris but i i was going to bring this up earlier and headlines but i feel like adam fox has to be a prime norris trophy contender. Right now is not you have to be. I don't know why he wouldn't be. I mean he certainly going to be on my ballot. I do think there's some truth to luke's point though that There is a momentum to two players winning a trophy because you. It shouldn't matter because it's just about this season but there there needs to be a little awareness and it's hard for everybody to be aware of every player because everybody's criteria is a little different But i in my mind. Adam fox is having a a norris caliber season. yeah. I don't know that he's the norris winter but i i do believe he will get plenty of consideration gooey thinking victor hedman john carlson. Yup yup yet. You know who doesn't have enough but romeo sees impact knowing one last year but for sharing now nashville's game when he was out of the lineup as opposed to win he's in it. They're winning percentages are numbers change completely through the roof. Oh unbelievable when yoshi when you'll see is is in the game all right. Evan this is right in your wheelhouse ray. what is considered a good faceoff. Winning percentage for a player. So he's saying if if you're winning fifty five percent of your face. Offs is that considered great or just good and then by the way he says look after listening to the last episode. I played tim's hockey challenge and went three for three. I so i asked that earlier and now. I'm not sure that this is true. We're going to add one evans. I want a screenshot. And i want to see because that case evan past us both and he's played once one hundred fifty points for evan. Bogus avenue we wanted to screen shot. Fifty five percent would be awesome. Yeah it would be a terrific faceoff percentage..

They they've been around thirteen fifteen two one most of the season. So i think the betty markets are finally catching up to just how good this team is and you know. They're like the islanders. They play playoff hockey all year long. And there's something to be said for that when you get into the postseason anyway. You know there's so much made of the national football league obviously coming out of the draft going into the draft. Is there any way to monetize the aaron rodgers. Watch now i mean. He's made it abundantly clear that he's not going back to green bay. So i mean are there odds on wearies going to land that sort of thing. I think you'll see odds. They don't have them right now like where he'll take his next snap but they will be up this week. One of the craziest things saw and it's one of the biggest shifts. I've seen abedin market ever so when that tweet came out whatever. It was thursday before the draft. The denver broncos were eighty to one to win the super bowl a single tweet not even a transaction move the denver broncos to twenty two one to win the super bowl and moved them to eight to one from thirty five to one the whit to win the afc. They're ahead of the browns dolphins and patriots right now So the browns vet the broncos value. Excuse me is long gone. Some people get in on it but just one tweet guys nowadays transaction all right. What are we looking forward. This week chris so much going on obviously had golf with their scheduled. People love that. Baseball is in full swing. The days are getting their roster healthy also. And you know. I'm going to bring this up the world women's curling championships in calgary curie anderson's rank representing canada so a lot of teams that were at the grand slams the last couple of weeks or are so that's that's something else that people are paying attention to and then a couple of big. Ufc cards coming up. So we're right in the thick of things become down the stretch for playoffs in the nhl and nba. Major league. Baseball in full swing. You know the european soccer leagues are getting ready to hit their playoffs and championships. So it's it's a very exciting time hard to keep up with it all no kidding so much going on. I don't know why it shouldn't bother me. I mean i'm no. I'm not good enough. That it should bother me. But i think i do think they're in a match like james and my vision is the jerry was like a nap and he just wouldn't go away so you're talking about the random noise so i do this with my buddies and they finally picked up on it right so normally. I'm the guy that hits first off t. Just because i'm the best call from the group i'm done. That's and that's not saying a whole lot. But so on the rare occasion. Where i don't have honors whoever hits i just as they're in their backswing all rep velcro on my glove and that's brutal. It is brutal but if that happened to you so if somebody did that your backswing you'd be sour because you would notice it like that's that yes those noises that would get to you like i did it ten times last season ray and nobody figured it out. They never picked up on it so that quality the people that i play golf so i would say anything but you would probably you notice that i knew. Oh you know like i. That would be a walk off the tee box to my bag. Don't like there's no conversation there you would know. See jerry would would get to me. Because he's he's a good golfer but lighthearted he's out there he's having fun and if i'm not playing well i'm not having as much fun and that would probably get to me. How he's boston it. Up the middle did do just love and life in here. I am like grinding it out like i'm working in salt mines. So then that vision connects pretty good with old shaking hands and leaving the court on he. "Like imagine being a girl like my daughter who's dream place hockey and then you're like what's the endgame. Here will the end game. I started asking questions. Was you know you can make seven grand a year. If you're the best player in the world so i think at the time someone like like muddy fully any spooner. Neal's girls were making maybe seven thousand a year so that is like an east coast. League player would play remake more than the whole team salary. And i thought you know it was it was like yeah maybe i can lend my voice to this. Also iran and my daughter came up to one day with the with the lpga prize money and the pj prize money instead. That y is so different so you know you change your you kind of think differently. We probably should have this way more as guys long time ago but at least we're starting the conversation so i'm trying to whatever fit helps it helps and you guys are all doing the same. We're all trying to elevate the women's sports world and it should win all the best part about it. Is you know my wife was involved. cami twenty years ago. That's right. yeah yeah and there was no social media. So they're please for just a little support got dusted aside and nobody could pick it up. Now there's a momentum that will not be stopped like it. Yeah it's taking longer maybe than everybody would like. But it's not gonna stop and that's not it is the best part but you're right the fact that it didn't happen when camby was playing in cassie in you know any of those girls it you know there was the big argument. I get if i tweet something because you still get these guys going well watching and there's so i'm like that's not what we're talking about here. It was watching and they posted a clip posted the other day. The double women's volleyball game got more views on the network than the cubs reds game. So that excuse. I just don't think should exist anymore. And if it might might take two things and it's an interesting conversation of never had is gambling. What changes the men's. I don't know you know. Let's not hide the fact that the sports gambling industry is massive. My watching football sunday. If i don't have a fantasy pool i don't know if i am yeah. I don't know how that plays into it. It shouldn't. There's gotta be something about that. The gambling industry that we watch men's so much more. There's got to be. And i think you've got to tell the stories you know i knew nothing about cami. I mean i know everything about sid crosby. What used to shoot pucks on dryer. I think we need to tell their stories off the ice. And it's funny. Because i said to jane at that game. I said you know an and they're doing it now. I don't think it's because of me. Right you ever hear this story and you can bet on their games so these guys are making nothing. So they're going in right and this is from a guy that played there. This is a valid a valid store. They're going in to the betting shops in croatia. Or wherever they're betting they'll score the first goal so when they get on the ice they're going to be opposing team. Guys listen i on and i'll you know there's always deals wheels because like they're just the you take you. Can i have that goal. Because i had a bet on myself scoring that goal tonight. Yeah yeah that's yours man. Go ahead. I don't know i don't know how true it is but that's the story i i like it. Give them a little actions. Sure go down and myself. Why not absolutely look. My brother played together at western michigan. That's how i knew. He'll he sign new healy prior. And i'll tell you. I love heels but healing. I went to one game in my brothers career at joe louis arena was the semi finals. It was michigan state. Had oh god played in the nhl. For years winnipeg played for winnipeg anyway. Had this phenomenal. Boli gino paul. Gino cavalieri was on bowling green creek. Simpson was involved with prime michigan state. At this point what. I go to one game. And healy stops sixty five shots. And that's not exaggerated and they beat bowling green In double overtime and he bowling green went on to win it anyway. But i always remember that about. He goes yeah. I think the scouts came to watch the other goalie. And i. I don't know he would know the store a butchering story. But every healy and i are on the bench. A york university and i was going insane effects from education. I'm gonna walk on so i really did. Train guys didn't train back then probably at any level but in the at the time i was just training every day so i got to trial to. No one was in shape but me. So i made the team and i remember. He put me on the first line. And i remember standing there for national anthem. Going no mega. My played four or five. Four years. The london knights the right way or my left winger at the time he played you know tier two bunch of records and points. And i'm standing there going. What am i doing here so anyway. It was against p. I we got four points. I got four points. We won four three. i scored. it was three all i. It was like it was like a movie to me but to anyone else it was nothing and then i remember sitting on the four finding and game twelve going. How did i get here so fast. I was just i was. I remember walker around campus going. I can't believe i just did that. And then i never got close to it again So one game. The worst part is i. I call up the coach to get the tape which was vhs. And i wanted to watch it. I was kinda like man what happened and he goes. Yeah so he sends me. The tape am all excited my well. At least i have this tape for my kids and grandkids like you know in the basketball coach had taped over it. So i'm watching the watching the basketball practice. What the hell is this is my point game so i never ever got it. So it's it's me off. But i don't have it in my buddies that ex. I'm still close with a couple of them in. You know these are guy. One guy played the h. l. after and they cheered me all the time like yet one game man like it was but it was for me. It was a highlight. That was it. nope we just. We just talked about guy scoring one hundred and eight goals in the. Whm would reminded me that. We're talking about my four point night with no two of this guy tap the ref ago i got that right i was i don not an awesome. We all did that. He that on the way you bet. Yeah story we were playing acadia and it katya was. I was fourth line. I never got ice acadia. They'd like that's so drake bathroom. Father was was nor mathison and he was. You know i mean again. I'm not not at your level rate. But he was phenomenal. Hockey player went on and played after that day. This team they won twelve one in the final. Against u of t. That's how good they were so long. They were beating teams out east six nothing twelve. Nothing seven one. Nine one and i i. I got a goal but it wasn't my goal. We this guy. Peter lee who was a really good player in uh i said peter. I don't think i touched that. And the ref gave to meet. He goes just take it. Just keep it. I'm like you know what big i will i got. I got no points in nine games. I'm just going to keep it. So i really think one of the goals wasn't even mind to be honest. Luc robitaille said video review robbed him of five goals a year. Because you could always say there's puck mark on my stick. 'cause you know team sports there's a twenty or fifteen other people to kind of help you with the loss gulf in tennessee usually these individuals sports alone so the hockey guys love it as you know. They're all mckinnon is like addicted with it. I heard in fact he trying to get better is a kessels phenomenal played with them. Clark mccarthy we have this. I used to have this regular game. When they're all leafs we'd go me kessel macarthur in atkin. Oh god. The stories from that with were hilarious. 'cause like me talk will not wanna lose. Kessel does not like losing at all so in act would just be in his ear like they were roommates and then just macarthur. Was they just fun to watch the three of them. There were three buddies but david to each other the whole time but the hockey guys are usually good at it and if they're not like connor brown is you know i was telling that story. When he was on that street with text his dad he called his dad. Before the first game of the goal streak and you know just talk golf. Even if i text con i knew connor from when he was younger. But he's like yeah. I'm a golf game. I i'm really excited. I i love. They just obsessed with trying to get better. And that's the athlete in them right. So in his streaky. He had this little superstition he his dad told me that you know. Then he started calling me every night before on the way to the rank he we talk off and it became this thing. So it's It's something the hockey guys connect with a lot. I find as a parent. Can you help daughter it all with with what. She's you know when you look at land. Like i don't know when you had to stop giving him advice It's not as not as early as he would've liked. Yeah one hundred percent it's You know and your much better hockey player than i was golfer so you know you would like my friend..

"Is no code. I've never been handed a copy of the code. I don't know what it is and you play in a long time by the way with some tough dudes. Yes you feel the code like there's a sense of what it is but there is no code there are no. There is no handbook and so the people that are arguing about it online and make lots of noise about it. They know even less about it than i do because they weren't there and they've never been there now. I understand the emotionality of the response. Ettler hit was bad and he got suspended and toronto's not happy because they lose zach hyman and their their guy is hurt so they're looking for retribution. If if the league doesn't want that to happen. The only way i can think it can happen is to make the suspension in her directly involved with the team that that incident happens. So of alexander gets two games or four games in a normal season. He would edward got two games. The next two games have been against somebody else at toronto doesn't get any any satisfaction from that the cannot slough would lose adler four games against chicago and pittsburgh or whoever it was if it's against toronto. Maybe that matters a little more. Because i cannot be more clear on this what i think. The code is what A player today thinks the code is a player on another team of today. Thinks the code is is all different. Yeah it's different because there is no written down of this has to happen. Do you think you should have skated away. Do you think alexander should have just said look. I'm not fighting. you don't need to fight you. i. I served my two game suspension buzz Yes but it's easy to say. Because i'm sitting here on my coach when you're in that moment you feel this unwritten code like you feel it again and so he probably felt well first of all he probably looked up and saw wayne simmons and went off for crying out not him. Yeah because simmons could really do a number on and to simmons credit. I think there was a point there where he kind of thought in the fight. I mean i could be wrong. But i thought in the fight simmons what that's enough and any stopped like he could've kept going and he did. He's clear he's fighting a guy that doesn't fight. I think ever felt. I have to take this fight. I i think it's wrong as i sit here as long retired blair but in the game. It's different it it just is. I wish i wish i could explain it. I wish i could explain it more clearly. But that's when you're in it. It's different than when you're viewing it from the perch which we do we. We all do it media in general. Of course the other thing that was a head scratcher me was the suggestion that okay well if there needs to be a fight than needs to be someone other than wayne simmons. It needs to be closer to alec sadler non fighter. Well i mean who does that. Is it like ilya mckay of like. Are we going to be happy. Just somebody some random. Toronto maple leaf fighting alexander in honor of of zakheim and that doesn't make any sense to me either. It doesn't and here's another reason why it doesn't because then people are going to look at wayne simmons and say. Why didn't you address this hunter percent and so what wayne supposed to go out and say while he's not really in my weight class and these four guy like it doesn't work like that it's.

"Poll question right goodwin. It was a good one. It's a bit click bait but that's fine. We need that kind of what we do on occasion here with random social media channels. We asked on social media. Who you were taking in a seven game playoff series between the edmonson wanders and the toronto maple leafs of course building off a question that we got on ask ray dregs anything last week. What do you think the results were. no neutrality. To it you're either a leaf guy or girl or a oiler guy or girl Slightly slightly ahead toronto. But rate down party lines. Yeah and look. The poll is going to continue here. But well into i think around five thousand voters wright fifty eight percent say the toronto maple leafs would win a seven game series head to head with the owners so obviously that leaves forty two percent in favor of the oil. So thank you to canadian club for our poll question of the week. Now dive into another episode of rain rigs brought you by infiniti. We've got canadian comedian. Jerry di coming up on the podcast. This guy is a piece of work. He's a funny dude and multifaceted to write you. And i have how many jobs i don't know i mean we do lots of things you know him though not like him. He's all over the place over and game show host and comic and tv show. He's a funny dude. He's funny do well. We can't play golf and ontario. Which obviously we'll talk to jerry about. But that's probably why he has time on a saturday morning to spend a half hour. Forty minutes with the likes of you. And i will also check in with quebec the latest from the gambling world. Cool that dot. Co check them out headlines. This week has always presented by the tim hortons. Nhl hockey challenge. It's in the tim hortons. Apres we both have it. You pick three players nightly for your shot at winning. Tim's reward points and i'm i'm infatuated by this even though sometimes i forget i do i do. I feel like if i wouldn't forget that i'd be way of headed away ahead of you in the game because shockingly to me prior to episode twenty. I pull out the history. And the tim hortons app just before i submit. Tonight's picks three picks. And i see that i've got one hundred points one hundred points. I got a fifty banger. The other day two guys score two of my three scored and that earn me. Fifteen fifty points automatically while what bothers me that that whole thing is i've got one hundred points to it bothers me. I mean how you know. There's a feature where you can use the scots pick to help you. Maybe i should be using it. How can i be tied with you. This is it's very disappointing. I know but it's it's the spirit of compete again in a world like in season one we were going to have. We had the big bet with with with the contest. Right which of course which of course you never paid up on. Well exactly how am i going to do that. I guess they say did you. Could you guys are too picky. You'd have to be some like freshwater bass or something like that or something along the y you know i just i just wanna slab of meat us..
