Is the AI Market Saturated?
"My first question is is the market saturated and without picking winners. What products us rising to the top. Good that you're asking this question right now in general timing of the world because here we are for those who are listening to podcast. August the twenty twenty. One people might be listening to this year from now. So this'll all seem really quaint. To those in the future but the markets actually in the midst of consolidation. Saying we're actually starting to see a lot of acquisition activity and we do track over one hundred vendors and machine learning platform space about seventy two of which meet the minimum threshold of viability. There's lots of startups in the space. We love startups. We have an affinity for companies of all sizes but when we're looking at companies who are buying products and services we tend to look at those companies that have either at least ten customers or have at least ten million in revenue or at least ten million dollars in venture capital they if they have like to customers and no venture funding raised in a little bit of revenue than. We're like just grow little bit more a little bit more. So this is about seventy two companies. At least that are in that that john rao of course all the cloud vendors are in that space. The major cloud vendors microsoft. Ibm google amazon And a few others. So those were recalled the cloud sas machine learning as a service vendors basically and then there's a whole other category of pure play machine learning platform vendor so you may be familiar data robot or did i do in that space a bunch of others that are kind of trying to pull together all the components of what's required to put machine learning and advanced analytics solutions into play and increasingly. What they're doing is they're growing through Both building out their product suites and through acquisitions so she did robots but on a tear lately did i. Two as well as been been really growing raise very significant round recently but the answer is that this market is actually starting to

Why some Black Americans are skeptical of a COVID-19 vaccine
"How do you feel about the comeback team as my excellent even have my children american community. We must trust me because we do feel like the first they wanna test on and we're being experimental. We used to be mistreated. We use the ban experimental role and we used to be last any category when it comes to healthcare to words to start off here remember tuskegee public. Health officials are focused on countering distrust toward this vaccine particularly in black communities in our country. Michelle norris from the washington post puts the conundrum this way quote vaccine. Hesitancy from black americans is different from an anti vaxxers stance. It's not that black. Americans don't believe in vaccines. They don't trust a public health system that has in too many cases engaged in grievous harm by experimenting on black bodies without consent or ignoring the specific needs of black people here to talk about we. Welcome to our broadcast tonight. Dr peter hotels he's a vaccine scientists working with a team to develop a low cost cove at nineteen version for global distribution. He happens to serve as co director of the center for vaccine development at texas children's and he is the dean of the national school of tropical medicine at baylor college of medicine also with us tonight. The reverend walker. We are proud to say she started as did a number of us in local news notably as the first african-american weeknight news anchor in boston. And is now senior pastor at roxbury presbyterian. She's been at the center of an effort. Enlisting dr rao cheese help and others to build trust in the vaccine among members of her congregation and the larger city at large Dr houghton. Says i'd like to begin with you and your reaction to this. Fda authorization tonight well it certainly important news Critical first step towards backseat our way out of this epidemic. you know. We're hoping not to have to completely rely on biotechnology solutions but in the absence of a national cove nineteen strategy by. This white house backed us into a corner and now we pretty much have no other major tools now to halt the screaming epidemic. Where we're looking at two hundred thousand new cases a day in three thousand deaths per day. So we're in a dire situation in. Having this vaccine is going to be an absolutely critical tool. And i hope it's going to be the first of four or five ac scenes that will have in the coming months because i don't think we're going to be able to vaccinate the us population with these two marnie vaccines alone. So a major first step but a pretty long road ahead here here on time is of the essence of reverend walker. It's great to have you. I'm looking at pew. Research polling says sixty one percent of white americans are prepared to have the vaccine forty-two percent of black americans. I'm gonna make a sweeping assumption about all of our viewers. The folks smart enough to watch this hour every night. Know their history so we have established the fear and distrust. Tell us what you're hearing in your congregation. However some people are saying they wanna wait it out and see what's going to happen which gives me a little hope. This is a very tragic situation. If we don't take vaccine a lot of people as you have already pointed out simply do not trust systems a not just because of history but because of their daily experiences people who feel that they have been abused and they have been disrespected. They have been ignored by. Hospitals are in general. So you know getting that to change is not going to be an

Airport Full - No Parking Please
"So the airlines had a whole new kind of problem these days, and and this is an interesting shots of it. Breaks. My heart to. But. David! What's this? This is the you called her attention to the story about this airport in Spain. No passengers but also no place to put airpl- new anymore airplanes. No! No parking sign went up some time some time ago at Terrell Airport in Aragon and eastern Spain. and for a while recently it topped the list of Spain's busiest airport and if you look at the photograph at the link. You should quickly discern what. It's turned into. A parking lot on par with. Mahabe in a couple of other places in the South West. Uses a aircraft storage. Yeah, yes, of course. Mojave is for airplanes that are that are extensively retired. These are just airplanes that are parked and. Waiting to go back into service, it kind of begs the question of where I don't know it makes me think. that. There are a lot more airplanes in the under normal times. There's a lot more airplanes in the sky than we ever realized and now that we now that we can't store them in flight. You know we've got to put them because you would think that there would be no got park someplace overnight, but apparently not they you know. They always had to park someplace overnight. As my point well, they always had to park someplace overnight, but they add gauge to do that at. And Hey be even overnight. There's still some of them in operation right right right. Oh and I see what you're saying. Chip that that even though things are down, they have to keep gates open. They can't use the gates as parking places right because they are. You know not as much, but they are using the gates. Okay, I'd forgotten about that. You're right all right so Yeah, we see this. We're seeing these kinds of images all over the place with the airliners. Active airline aircraft. Act I don't know how to put this exactly. What's the right term? But the point is are not retired aircraft there just. Aren't needed right now. Short term storage. Yeah, yeah, and how did you get? A work is getting longer and longer. It depends I mean. I saw somewhere where I don't know which carrier, maybe as just a general rule for for those types of airplanes but They had. mechanics early technicians periodically going out empowering things up, and and maybe even starting the engine cycling, the hydraulic system things like that, and just on a on a regular basis calling at flyable storage or something. That's certainly you know one way to do it another way to do. It would be to just seal the sucker up. Leave it there. Until, however, if Rao, our law and you have a laundry list of things to then go through. when you want to take it out of storage, well certainly gonNA. Have a laundry list one way or the other it. Depends you know, it depends on the airplane be. It depends on how it's stored. Right exactly and. It's in sorry I keep drifting away from the micro. Keep on. that. Bottle of water. So. It's an interesting question. I wonder if they already had procedures for such a thing or if they're trying to design to write these procedures I think quick answers, yes. They had procedures and they needed to write new ones. They they have checklists. They have all kinds of. Maintenance requirements. Powering the airplane up powering down whatever. But I think they also had to write some of that and again, depending on the aircraft and depending on the carrier. have to rewrite some of their procedures to consider this longer longer term flyable storage. Yeah the and the long term storage slightly So many years see yeah, they they've got a big long list of what they do. I mean they mask over all the air inlets? All the heat exchangers. Tape over the window put protection over the window so. transparencies don't suffer from sandblasting when the wind goes whipping through the airport and pick up debris. Pickle the engines of Put tight covers on the enlighten exhaust into the rice. Block up those heat exchangers. It it's. It's a substantial undertaking to mothball and airplane for a long period of time. Probably. Probably not anywhere near that because. They're subject to getting back into fleet as soon as the traffic supports it. And that's the reason they're. They're the. Shutdown of flying an international travel from Kobe nineteen is knock traffic in the dirt. I mean Air France has one hundred eighty airplanes. In storage out of lead to twenty four. Holy Crap that's only forty four airplanes that they're operating

"Put it on my tooth person in my mouth. Start in started. The question is where is your brain when you do that? Well, it was not. It was not engaged. Online from the medium correspondent Aaron Zoo. Seven brutally honest reasons why you're still single, I. This could apply to you if you're single. It could apply to you if you have a friend who is single and you're in there. They're wondering why, but you know. Let's let's go through this list in mind. Keeping in mind, there are a lot of people who were single who love being single, and there's nothing wrong with zero wrong. Yes, but there are people out there who are single who would love to be in a relationship right now, and they're wondering why, according to the philosophy of Aaron you. Here go things happen completely out of your, not Ju. Shoe Shoe Anyway there are things in your life completely completely out of your control, but there are things. Maybe you should think about if you're a single wondering why number one? Welcome to seven brutally honest reasons while you're still seeing. This music. Your single. Number One. You don't go out much. Yeah. Absolutely I have so many single friends who are like just don't get it. I can't meet the right guy and they don't leave their couch. They're literally waiting for someone to break in and be Mr Right, and I posted the other day, and so many people said yeah, that's me I. Don't go anywhere was true. You know what if you WANNA meet people? You have to meet people. He gets sort of makes sense. So you don't go out much, ring the bells, Gary. We're very bill ready, yeah! Number two another reason why you're single. You haven't moved on from your Ex. Deadly, you may swear that you did, but remember now is the time to be brutally honest with yourself. Have you been trying to contact them? India. Drunk dial them. Do you talk about the relationship on other dates and things that went wrong or whatever, because that is disturbing and you shouldn't do that, yeah? Number three brutally. Honest while you're still single your nitpicky. Yeah shred. You look for a million different reasons to discount someone from being that person and. This may be the culprit if you're constantly being told. Hey, you're too picky, are you maybe? Maybe! You should get to know someone and understand that sometimes the stuff you see on the surface, you can forget about when the stuff below the surface is really great. I think dating APPs to have really taken toll in that area, because everybody is kind of disposable, and as soon as you see one little red flag or one thing you don't like you. Just move on when in real life you deal with people and things about them that you don't like all the time when you love them. The list of a seven brutally honest reasons while you're still single. See they say your self esteem is too high I'm GONNA. Read right at your self. Esteem is misdirected. I like that, too. You regard yourself way too highly to the point that you don't think anyone is good enough to be with you. Persons is pretty sure no one will admit to this and a lot of people may even carry this trait without realizing it questions to ask yourself. Do you think your purpose in life is above other people's. Whole. Are you convinced that your path in life is absolutely the correct path anyway maybe? Maybe you need to Kinda. Like just mellow it out a little bit, and that other people are cool to know. A little bit of humble nest never killed anybody. It's interesting how? You talking about smart, if a person is smart, some people may be smart in some areas, and maybe not as smart and others. You may be very book smart, but not. Very Street smart. You may be very business smart, but not very. Street smart. So just because someone isn't the same smart as you are doesn't mean they're stupid, not at all. I find common sense. People are usually not book smart. But on the other hand number five on the list of seven brutally honest reasons while you're still saying your self esteem is too low. That's a killer. That's a really big one I think that that has ruined relationships for me because I wish that people were a little bit more secure in themselves. Because all of that stuff will rub off on, you plex the toll on relief. You're with someone and you're. UCLA is in them, and then they're constantly putting themselves down. Effort a wild. That takes a toll. Oh, yeah, come on! If you ask these yourself these questions. When someone has interesting, you didn't you may have a problem you ask yourself why. What do they see in me? Or Oma God, they're set me up to hurt me because I really. Maybe. They're on a different level than mean. This is going to be dangerous. Maybe I should. Maybe I should just end this now because I'm not good enough for them. Hey, you know what become best friends with that person in the mirror. Nothing in life will smell as wonderful and taste as great. In field is good. Until you become friends with that person in the mirror, hundred percent number six on the list of brutally honest reasons why you're still single, you're mysterious. Don't. You..

Madrid Making Moves
"Uh-huh and Lebanon Donna Dan Narrow Ericsson Ericsson could be heading to the Santiago Bernabeu according to reports is the president of Real Madrid who wants him influencing oh Perez but Zidane's and not so keen he's the ones pull pumper said Peres is the only winner surely this scrap well except that we had in the summer and sit down one that time is it I'm was was adamant as you've just pointed out that it was poker that he wanted Rao Madrid in the in you know it was very difficult poker they'd lined up a couple of other deals one was was this WanNa call someone was debate from from from ax and there was a very clear sense from that right we want to bring them infielder in these two that we think we think can work exam was so adamant that had been cut in the end they didn't get any of those players so if for this story to reemerge for it's a to reemerge from cloudy it's because I've a foreign tino all the rest of the rights of decided we do this anyway all because Dan has backed down or calls because they've just decided right well we want to try and force the issue on this now there's a little bit of me that doesn't entirely see the point in this deal now ramage at the moment look at the squad lists in recent weeks admittedly because some injuries they actually put the squabbling they publish them Goalkeepers Defenders Field as forwards and his great big long list everywhere and a tiny little list in the midfield a category and so they do need midfielders in terms of numbers but what they really need in truth is another number ten stroke attacking midfielder stroke the creative forward they've got lots of those and so this is a deal I think that they want to make it done they want they want to get it done rather they know that this is a market entity because of course Ericsson because of his contractual situations burs would come very cheap but then of course in the summer he would come for free this is a reminder contract is up at the end of the season good enough for amateur Christian Harrison having been an important player over the years for Tottenham Hotspur maybe not quite as much lately but his mind I think it's been a bit scrambled by everything that's been going on wanted to go to row Madrid I think it's a pretty open secret in the summer it didn't happen I think they'd get him for something like thirty million pounds because of the situation with his contract in June okay so you could see that happening because you get the feeling Tottenham that something's got to give and they need to freshen things up so yeah I think for Madrid wanted enough it can happen you let him go in January savings you say okay let's get some money for him and move on well I think I think he's an he looks always kind of half choked Luke's is always not interested right and of course we know Daniel Levy lakes bringing money and so it seems to me that you would just let them go get some money and get rid of a body again and start building again does he fit into this team I think is a good enough play for Marie I don't think right now and he's in a position where you can just turn players away because there is a there are some areas in which you have to be concerned so injuries are part of the reality Real Madrid now whether it's aww Tony Cruz there's nobody who can take the position Okaz Amedeo but the point that sid is making makes a whole lot of sense in that that kind of player is not exactly what you need so you're just bringing them to make numbers up you're not bringing them because he's addressing a need an area in which you're saying you know what we have to have a player like this it doesn't quite make sense from that point of view in terms of the market value it makes a whole Lotta sense for rare Marie to invest in a guy who would have come at a much higher price he's in what it's going to be a discounted price in the end problematic sit could it be going forward the sedan doesn't get I don't know the answer to that because oversee is problematic now and there's he wanted paper into the side for the star this season as the season moves on and he starts to find solutions Nicole seen very good performance in the last from Federal Valverde who has some of pope was qualities not quite the same sort of player but he covers a lot of ground he's quite direct he gets into both Sierra so there is a sense that they're finding solutions that so I don't necessarily think if they can find an alternative poke the similar enough that have a similar kind of skill set a similar sort of level then perhaps it's not too much of a problem but it was a problem in the summer not Lisa because it that degree of tension between down the club there's IT and felt the club who had promise to get in the plaza wanted promise to get rid of the players that he wanted weren't able to do so now there's a difference between not being able to do so and refusing to do so which is why I think that those kind of problems can be overcome but of course there is that little bit of tension that still remains said as you're on and we need to talk about a story that we've discussed forty eight hours out front page of bail says he wants to go that he's had enough the reason this is a big deal obviously Bala Gate well linked within Spanish football well link within the Gareth Oh camp this is why you've got to take this story seriously and the big question I said why why now why is he coming out and saying this now considering all the summer very had all those problems he gets a standing ovation after his performance against Granada two days comes out and said that enough because you drop me in that champion's league game well that's that's a great way to start them because is if you read the printing of this article at it fits exactly we've your question don't police is bio- tyke no more and at that point because of the timing is you right yes I think he will he can take no more of being a starter in the team that's top of the League who's just provided a wonderful assist them being innovation by the fans this isn't the moment to be thinking I can take no more that said of course some of the underlying element of this story this really is no different from what we've been talking about going all the way back to August we talked about it in in the middle of September Knbr as well I think when we were saying that violence playing now he's in the team now he starting now he's getting continuity now but that doesn't mean he's playing remember that comment playing happily remember that comment he made when he was lost while Scott what was it three or four weeks ago and he said I'm playing but wouldn't sound playing happily and that is this in a nutshell now I think is very difficult at this early stage you say he will go because of course we saw this summer even if you want to go even if the club is trying to force you out you have to find an exit and the summer they didn't one until very late in the summer they found that opportunity to go to China thought it was all done and the last minute realm of turned around and said no and so I think is angry about that feels irritated by that and yeah I don't doubt for minute idea that well if there was a good while I'd take it but that's not quite the same and this will happen because it's very very difficult to make this happen and personally if I was able to go about your question the timing be thinking look I'm not very happy I'm not very pleased with the it may have a great relationship the manager but hey I'm a star now at wral Madrid again and so between now and the end the season I think a lot can happen that will so the way this plays
Linda Cardellini on new Netflix show, 'Dead to Me'
"Hi, everybody. I'm Peter Travers this popcorn where we tell you what's happening in the culture. And my guess today's Linda Cartolini, who is having a year of years, first of all green book wins the Oscar as best picture, you know, that's pretty great. And then basically, you do a horror film, cursive, love Ronin becomes number one over the Easter weekend. And now you have a series on Netflix called dead to me, which is secret is that other little indie movie made this year called ventures endgame? Tiny movie. You know, that's why we're here we, we wanna push that kind of thing, you gotta help that one out. But dead to me. Is this like wonderfully interesting show where I've read talk to some people say, but I don't know what it is. Is it a comedy? Is it a drama? And I keep saying what's life, right? Yeah, yes. All of those things. But so that I don't get in major trouble. Okay. You set up, what did to me is, we jokingly call it a trauma D, because Trump so that they go through. And it's about these two people myself and Christina Applegate, who meet at a grief group and become unlikely friends. I'm very free spirited sort of optimistic person and she's very guarded angry widow, and, and we've both done through tremendous loss. But we both have secrets that were keeping and, and in major complications in our characters that make it interesting. And, and so it sort of unraveled from there. But the thing that I loved about. It as you can't define the tone of the show or the Jon Rao of the show. It doesn't really fit in a box, so shimmy ends where I go, what I know that I love that. There is a suspense element to it that it wasn't just these two characters to, to females that you could kind of inner change your line. They're very separate very defined characters that sort of lock in on this intimate relationship. But then it's a character story. But it's also that a lot of plot. So that, you know, twists and turns, and I can barely talk about it because everything is a spoiler. Have you ever said the phrase, the title of this any other human in your life? You're dead to me. No, no. I have. Yes. I know it's, it's a good one, though is it's, it's tough somebody's dead to somebody. That's while you're still living. Of you. Women in this show have many reasons six. Yes. Absolutely. To absolutely no careful. I was Hank, you I very much appreciate, well, you basically, and Christina Applegate r. The controlling forces of this show. You know, you could just say, hey. I didn't like episode four improve at USA. Know how diva esque. Or she actually where near not just in general, which is nice is something we actually get along about. I think for big team players. So that was really fun and important to me going into the project because you, you work if you were going to series, you work with people for a long time. So I wanted to be sure that I really enjoyed the people I worked with, and she's amazing, Liz Feldman. Who's the creator in the show. Runner is incredible. Her mind is incredible. Her is incredible her heart is in is, is genuine, she's a wonderful person. And so a she, it's her vision and her bay. We have brilliant writers and staff and everything, but really choose at the head of it all. And it's very easy to trust her. So we just sort of give you know, ju- given before they had never met really look that in one way. It's very right for the series. Yeah. Yeah. 'cause you don't. Yeah, but there's such an easy -ness of between the two of you there. Is and I was so grateful, because it just happens or at dozens and the first time we met, we both were signed on to do it. And we had lunch with Liz, and Jessica, Alba motor, our producers who we both know we both worked with the different movies, and they both said, you know, you guys are gonna love each other, and we met, you know, people say that often, and then you meet somebody, like, okay, you know, it takes awhile to get to know somebody, but we really instantly felt like we knew each other and, and it's been very, very easy to be with her and to, to do this with her and, and she really has my back and I have her, so it's, it's a wonderfully worked beautifully. I couldn't be more
Jason Schreier, Fran And John Rao discussed on Kinda Funny Games Daily
"Year's call of duty game. It's allegedly a soft reboot of modern warfare series and will be titled duty Mon and more fair. And it supposedly days away from reveal on may thirtieth. The news comes from Twitter user, and youtuber long sensation who simply tweeted out a name, along with the addition of quotes, I'm not joking. Kentucky's, Jason schreier known I reliably sources tweeted back, I can't confirm. This is true. And that is hilarious. The first one was called duty for modern warfare. So obviously, the fourth one fourth one is called call of duty modern warfare video games are just. Third. Jason also later discussed in the game as a quote soft reboot, and quote, and euro gamer has a run on the report, claiming its own sources that validate the name stories. It's important to note that collar duty modern warfare is not the same as the original two thousand seven modern warfare, which is full which in its full title. It's called duty for modern warfare mode again. Shipped too many call duty this however will be the fourth modern warfare game just in case you were getting yourself confused. I am. Yeah. Fran it's a lot of college talk, a lot of modern warfare semi day. Yeah. What's your thoughts on the title here? First of all, definitely, a little surprised because there's been so many call duties, and certainly modern warfare and advance warfare and this warfare, but it seems like they're sticking with it. It's just it is a little odd to me that they would go back to that name. But I mean, whatever who cares. Like gotta war was got a war, and like. Do we really care at the end of the day, if we see a trailer and the image sticks with us? I it's not like I'm gonna forget that it's called modern warfare. And it's twenty nine thousand you know what I mean? Exactly. And I also think it goes back to the roots. Everybody knows call duty for modern warfare that name is synonymous in that multi players shooting. John Rao, they've had the Remo mastered recently a couple what a year ago or so. And so you have that title in your brain, and you're thinking to yourself, man. I'm excited for more. If you're average gamer, like myself, sometimes, you get confused on which years, which, you know, trae arc sludge Amarillo who's doing Kenny ward. I don't know. But when I see duty modern warfare, I know okay, this is the game John round. The gets you make a really strong point, which is it is synonymous with one of most beloved versions of duty multiplayer and from that studio originally as well. Right. And so it's exciting to go back to that. And that seems to be the message that is possibly coming down the pike
What's the Controversy Behind 'Mary Had a Little Lamb'?
"Brain stuff, Lauren Vogel bomb here. If you visit the town of sterling Massachusetts today, you'll find a small copper statue of woolly little creature meant to be a replica of the original Lim that followed nine year old Mary Sawyer to school in eighteen fifteen below the statue is a plaque inscribed with the famous opening verse end ascriptin Mary had a little lamb. It's fleece was white as snow and everywhere that Mary went the lamb was shared go. Jon Rao stone. So who exactly was Mary Sawyer? And who was this John Ralston who allegedly wrote the original poem, according to a sixty page book, titled the story of Mary and her little lamb and published in nineteen twenty eight by none other than karma yoga, Henry Ford. More on that later, Mary Sawyer was a typical New England schoolgirl who nursed starving lamb back to health winning a lifelong friend in this book, an adult Sawyer recounted. I got the lamb worn by wrapping it in an old garment and holding it in my arms beside the fireplace in the morning much to my girlish, delight it could stand and from that time and improved rapidly. It soon learned to drink milk and from the time it would walk about it would follow me anywhere. If I only called it. The books behind the music story of the song explains that before leaving for school one morning Sawyer whistled for the lamb and it came faithfully trotting over at which point her brother NATs justed. Let's take the lamb to school with this. She tried to hide the lamb in a basket under her chair. But it was discovered when she stood up to recite a lesson and the fluffy critter started to bleat her teacher. Polly Kimball laughed outright, which caused Sawyer some embarrassment. So she took the lamb out to a shed until school was over for the day. John Ralston was a local boy preparing for college who happened to be visiting the old red school has that day and was according to Sawyer very much pleased with the instant of the lamb so Ralston went home wrote a three stanza poem and return the next day on horseback to hand deliver the original verses of Mary had a little lamb to Sawyer herself. Or so the story goes in sterling Massachusetts meanwhile in Newport, New Hampshire the folks celebrate hometown hero. Sarah Joseph a hail as the author of this beloved nursery. Rhyme HALE is also famous for her role in creating the modern American thanksgiving by a long running letter campaign to five US presidents as a young poet and writer HALE moved to Boston in eighteen twenty eight to become the editor of the first women's magazine in the United States later known as good he's ladies book. It was in Boston that helmet Lowell Mason, a young musician composer intent on bringing music education into America's public schools. Mason inhale shared, the belief that sim. Children's poems set to music could be used teach good Christian morals to kids that would help them. Grow into productive and upright citizens at Mason's. Request HALE wrote a short book fifteen poems called poems for our children, which was published in eighteen thirty Mason than wrote simple melodies to accompany each poem, including these six verse poem, then known as Mary's lamb. Interestingly the tune Mason wrote for Mary's limb, which was included in his eighteen thirty one book, juvenile liar likely the first public school songbook sounds nothing like the melody we know today that melody was borrowed later from the course of a popular minstrel show song called good night ladies, so which story is true. So you're claimed that the first three verses of Hale's poem were identical to the one written by young John Ralston, although the piece of paper gifted to Sawyer had long since disappeared and rows don't tragically died while a freshman at Harvard. So he wasn't around corroborate. When hails version was included in school readers nationwide in the eighteen. Fifties. So you're assumed that the author had simply expanded on Ralston's original three verses, but HALE denied ever seeing another version of Mary had a little lamb and swore. She had conjured the story holy from her imagination. Both Sawyer inhale signed letters in sworn statements in their old age hail just days before death in eighteen eighty nine professing that they were telling the truth of the origin of what had already become a classic nursery rhyme. Enter Henry Ford after both of the women were long gone automobile. Magnate Henry Ford stepped into the fray in nineteen twenty seven he took up the cause of Mary Sawyer moving the wooden frame of Mary's original red schoolhouse from sterling Massachusetts to the nearby town of Sudbury where Ford owned an inn and then in nineteen twenty eight he published the aforementioned book, which gives Ralston full credit for the original versus and asked. Why a respected local woman who served as a matron of the local hospital would make up such a wild story in repeat it her entire life. Hails defenders asked the same question. Sandra Sonics in volunteer archivist of these Sarah j HALE collection at the Richards free library in Newport, New Hampshire writing for the library's website said the story of Mary Sawyer implies that somehow Sarah HALE came across this never published schoolhouse poem, and plagiarized it. How could you have come across? It. Henry Ford's book explains the two towns where Sawyer inhale lived. We're close to each other. They're ninety miles apart over the most direct route. That would have been followed in eighteen fifteen Henry had not yet invented the automobile. So the distance was considerable in a Baltimore Sun story from nineteen ninety eight about the ongoing feud between sterling Massachusetts and Newport, New Hampshire a hail supporter and Newport librarian weighed in let's face. It. Henry Ford made good cars. I don't think he's a good
An 'inclusive and free art form composer Antonio Snchez lauds jazz, ahead of International Day
"I'm an Akhara move with you and us as jazz. Great, Nina Simone, one set Jez, not just music. It is a way of life. It is a way of being away of thinking written into the quest for human dignity, democracy and civil rights. The story of jazz is celebrated worldwide on thirty April with support of the UN cultural agency, UNESCO Mexican, jazz, composer and drummer. And Tony Sanchez the finest jazz, simply as freedom highlighting its inclusive power to bring different elements together transforming it into something greater the five time Grammy award winner who scored handwritten rita's Academy Award winning film Birdman is participating in the main commemorations for international jazz day held his year in Australia. Mr. Sanchez spoke to you n uses Antonio, LA Fuente. Well, I think jazz is very inclusive art form for some reason. It's nature. It's about bringing other elements and merging them on to the music. So in the beginning it came from, you know, completely glac music, and blues and soul. And then it's the improvisational part of started developing blood. It's a kind of music that can merge any kind of Jon Rao of music, and it turns out to be even greater and bigger than the individual parts. So when there's been many recessions history that have blended Jess with other kinds of world music, whereas it could be from to band music or. Brazilian music or African music or rock and roll. It doesn't matter to music that really can take any other kind of done. Right. And and and not only it can take it, but it benefits from it. And it develops more. And it it becomes richer as time goes by that what what is his sake. Jess to me that the finishing of Jess is freedom musician. It gives me the freedom of express myself exacly the way I'm feeling that day in that moment, which is is rare when you play political music, which I played classical piano for many years. You know, you're interpreting something and you have a certain amount of freedom. But it's it's usually you have to be a lot more strict with interpretation. Jazz. You can really change the course of the music in second just depending on how your you're feeling that they so you're I there's been times where I've been really sick very tired in pain where I have to perform and those dates are some of the best days sometimes because you can really channel your energy into the music that very moment. And sometimes what comes out is is something that you never thought you could do and also to meet death is freedom in the sense that it really can be ended is under the umbrella from privitization. But when I write for example, I I've not really paying attention to the fact that it has rock implants, or Jeff influence or Latin influence. Or anything? I just righted. I compose it, and it's all under the rela of Jess because it has the the vocabulary of improvisation and inclusion Anthony Europe anticipating home, the commemoration of internationally what those commemorations and what people can do to commemorate these. Well, the way it works is usually musicians from all over the world come together, and we play repertoire from all walks of Jess all John roster that are are inclusive in jest language, and we all perform with each other. So there's been times where I play with in a band where everybody's from a different country. But we're playing a very and like, for example. Last year two years ago, we played in Cuba, and we played a best mutual the very famous Latin standard, and it was a piano player from the Middle East or they route it was finger from Korea. And it was it was an American bass player and myself. So that kind of of of inclusion is what to me is the most interesting part about Jeff everybody learns language.
