Army of lobbyists helped water down banking regulations

"Recent bank collapses that prompted a federal rescue are a reminder of the power still held by Washington lobbyists. It seemed like a good idea at the time, in 2018 Republicans working with president Trump to slash bank regulations joined forces with red state Democrats facing grim reelection prospects. The group passed a bill that rolled back portions of the 2010 Dodd Frank law. The bill was marketed as a form of relief for overburdened community banks, but it also lifted the threshold for strict oversight and mandatory stress testing of large mid sized banks, it is now being blamed for contributing to the collapse of Silicon Valley bank and signature bank whose executives lobbied for the Bill, the effort drew an army of more than a thousand lobbyists, companies and trade groups specifically mentioning the legislation spent more than $400 million in 2017 and 2018, according to an Associated Press analysis, Americans for financial reform, a watchdog group says we can draw a direct line between the deregulation driven by the bank lobby, and the chaos of the last few weeks. Either the Strong Survive, Or the Left Survives

"For the first time in American history, a former president may be indicted and for what? Purely political ends, because he is a woke, lefty, who hates Trump, the irony is, as many commentators have pointed out, it may actually ultimately help Trump because there are so many people who are angry. And I am one of them. It's not going to cause me to vote for Trump if Trump is nominated. Of course I'll support him vigorously. I have a lot of comments on my fellow Republicans and conservatives. It seems that I would say about half of America's conservatives slash Republicans. Do not have a clear vision of what needs to be done. And that is, destroy the left. There is either America survives or the left survives. That's the way it is. And of course, I'm not talking about shooting or hurting anybody, I'm talking about destroying, left ism. And that is lost.

Malinvestment Happens When You Create Trillions Out of Thin Air

"When there is a greater supply of interest to invest than there is a supply of good places or places of value to put your money, you get something called mal investment. Mala investment happens when you create trillions of dollars out of thin air. You invest in a bunch of garbage. Just today, meta, Facebook, slash another 10,000 jobs. Mark Zuckerberg has put a massive bet into the metaverse. Turns out it's a massive failure. People just don't want to put goggles on all day long and play in some sort of weird abstract world of poorly defined characters and figures. It's not a success. I'm sure some people like it. It sure is, it's been, you know, some people are looking at it, but it's by no means a profit driver for the company at all. Nothing even close. So mal investment occurs when you create these trillions of dollars out of thin air. And when you remove the moral hazard and people think they can be forgiven or bailed out, then what difference does it make?

The Myth of Draconianism With Pedro Gonzalez

"Welcome to the show. Tell our tell our audience about the article you wrote in the argument that you want to present. Charlie, thanks so much for having me. So the title kind of says it all. The word draconian ism comes after an Athenian statesman slash tyrant named Draco. But I'm going to defend tyranny here for a moment. Draco is infamous because he, on the one hand, prescribed death for pretty much every type of offense in ancient Athens, but on the other hand, he introduced the first written legal code to the city. And you have to put Draco in the proper historical context. At the time, the laws in Athens were oral laws, and so they were subject to a lot of abuse and exploitation by capricious aristocrats, so Draco comes in and says, high and low, you break the law, you die. Here's a written legal code, so there is no confusion. And so that actually starts the wheels reform and later you get another statesman slash quasi tyrant named solon who comes along and he pretty much appeals the vast majority of Draco's legal code, but he keeps actually a homicide statute, Draco innovated in the sense that he made a distinguished between essentially manslaughter and deliberate homicide. But the point is, is that walls stolen has become a kind of by word for political wisdom and Draco's name became the root of unduly harsh punishment. You actually needed draconian ism to get to solid. In other words, you needed the sword to get political stability in order. And so my piece concludes with that, but it starts with the story of today and crime and punishment in the United States. And in a nutshell, despite what we've been told, we actually don't punish people harshly enough and specifically the right kind of people. We're told that the United States has way too many people in prison and the vast majority of people are in prison or they're there because they jaywalked. They got caught with like a doobie or something like that. Just this kind of ridiculous sentimental narrative of just mass injustice, right? Well, that's not actually true. I

I'm stunned, at least we knew it was going on, but the amount of actual proof coming out these days is gobsmacking. Yeah, no, it really is stunning how many different government agencies were in on the sort of misinformation slash disinformation racket. And I mean, yesterday I think there was a Twitter files drop and saw something about how people were proposing, we need to censor truthful speech that might lead people to draw the wrong conclusions. Like straight up, truthful, you know, truthful speech about their reactions or the vaccine, for instance, that just might lead people to think the wrong way. That's totally unacceptable, totally not the way that our government should be working, and yet this is what somehow not only government agencies, but nonprofits and NGOs funded by the State Department and helping human services, all these people are just involved in trying to get Twitter to create a discursive world that they prefer. The conservative house freedom caucus has. The plan is to shrink Washington and grow America. Are the WSJ Articles on Binance and Tether Trial by Press?

"Let's kick off with some good old fashioned tether FUD. On Friday, The Wall Street Journal reported that tether had used falsified documents and shell companies to obtain bank accounts, citing emails leaked to the newspaper they discussed some of the tactics used by tether and their intermediaries back in 2018. The article claimed that an email from Stephen Moore, one of the owners of tether holdings limited, said that a major Chinese counterparty was trying to quote circumvent the banking system by providing fake sales invoices and contracts for each deposit and withdrawal. He wrote that it was too risky to continue with this method, considering his signature was on the fake invoices, and recommended that the counterparty abandoned its attempts to open the account, saying quote, I would not want to argue any of the above in a potential fraud slash money laundering case. In March 17, according to The Wall Street Journal, Wells Fargo stopped processing transaction from several Taiwanese accounts that tether had been using, and in a lawsuit filed against the bank, tether called the move quote, an existential threat to their business, but withdrew the lawsuit shortly thereafter. A few weeks later on a conference call with users, Phil Potter, tethers then chief strategy officer attempted to calm concerns, saying quote, we've had banking hiccups in the past. We've always been able to route around it or deal with it, open up new accounts or what have you. There's been lots of sort of cat and mouse tricks that everyone in the Bitcoin industry has to avail themselves of. The article also claims that another account opened up on behalf of tether in turkey was later used to funnel money to a Hamas linked terror organization. And on top of that, the article also chronicles an attempt to funnel money through Panama using a company called the crypto capital corporation. The company allegedly used a series of shell companies to move around more than $1 billion. In October 2018, around 850 million was seized by authorities in the U.S. and Europe during an investigation into bank fraud and alleged money laundering. The seizure caused ripples through the crypto ecosystem with tether losing its peg and making a loan to bitfinex its sister exchange to shore up tether's balance sheet. But for next claims to this day that it was defrauded by crypto capital corp and is still fighting the seizures.

NBA Top Shot NFTs Are Securities, Fed Judge Says

"Okay, we're going to start this section with an important case regarding dapper labs that's the creator of topshop moments, NFT collection, which was a big runaway juggernaut at the center of the NFT boom. It's from a cropper recently with a ruling to say that some of the NFTs that were being sold are in fact securities and could be subject to SEC regulations, cam, this is very much in your ballet wick. Just tell us more about this case and white matters. Yeah, so I think it's really interesting. I have been waiting for a moment in the NFT space where there is some regulatory question and not necessarily clarity because I don't think we have that with this case, but it is a big moment calling these top shot moments securities. I think that a lot of this case came down to obviously the howey test, which determines whether or not an asset is a security or a commodity. And in the case of dapper labs, because they were minted these topshop moments, they were mentioned as NFTs on the flow blockchain, which is a private network, which also has its own private flow marketplace. That was one of the main reasons why these top shot moment NFTs were plausibly securities. Can we just explain the distinction about a private blockchain versus a public blockchain and why that should make a difference in this case? Yes, so essentially take an NFT minted on Ethereum. You know, Ethereum is a public network, anyone can put NFTs on Ethereum anyone can mint an NFT on Ethereum. With flow, it's a little bit different because, you know, it's privately owned and created by dapper labs and a big part of this too is the centralization feature, right? I mean this is a fully centralized marketplace slash blockchain that people can come partner with and put different projects on. Well, I think it's important to bring up two points in this case. One, this is a suit being brought by investors, not by the SEC, which is an important distinction because the SEC hasn't made any allegations itself in regards to dapper yet, and therefore we don't know yet how they feel about NFTs. The second point, I think, important to remember, the investors are upset that they lost money in this investment and they're taking it out on dapper labs by alleging that these are securities. What the judge has done here is say, well, we're going to let this case move forward and see where it goes. And the core argument that the investors are alleging that these NFTs are securities well, at this point in time, we're going to allow that argument to move forward.

"Eli Lilly says it plans to cut prices for some insolence, starting in January, the federal government started capping the cost of insulin through Medicare at $35 a month. President Biden mentioned it during the State of the Union address. Let's finish the job this time. Let's cap the cost of insulin for everybody at $35. Lily says it will cut the list price for its most commonly prescribed insulin humalog and for another insulin humulin by 70% in the fourth quarter starting in October. This could mean relief for people with diabetes who face annual cost of more than a $1000 for insulin they need in order to live. Lily says it will immediately cap monthly out of pocket costs at $35 for people who are not covered by Medicare. President Biden says Eli Lilly is heeding his call and others should follow. Our Perfect Heavenly Father

"Hey, I want to personally invite you to this year's secret church. We're going to learn about and pray for the church specifically in Iran, and we're going to go word for word through the book of Jonah, and as I've been studying this book, I can not wait to dive into it with you. Most people just know it's a story about a fish swallowing a man, but it is so much more than that. And it contains shocking relevance to our lives and the world around us today. So I hope you'll join us, invite your family, Friends, small group, church to be a part of it, so make sure to register today. Radical dot net slash secret church. Pray the word with David Platt is a resource from radical .NET. Luke chapter 11 verse 13. If you then who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? So at the end of Jesus teaching on prayer and Luke chapter 11 in the beginning of this chapter, Jesus teaches the lord's prayer, what Matthew 6 records and Luke records here and then tells an incredible story about boldness and relentlessness in coming before God in prayer. And then we come to this verse where Jesus makes a contrast between earthly fathers and our heavenly father. And he makes clear earthly fathers love to give good gifts to their children and earthly fathers are not perfectly good. They're not perfectly wise. They don't always know what is best. So how much more? Will our heavenly father who is perfectly good, perfectly wise, give to us as we ask him. Now what's interesting is, in Matthew's version of this teaching, Jesus says how much more you're heavenly father give good gifts to those who ask him. And doubtless Jesus taught exactly those words, God loves giving good gifts. But here in Luke after 11, Luke records Jesus saying how much more will the heavenly father give the holy spirit to those who ask him, which doubtless Jesus also taught. So we received good gifts from God and we received the Holy Spirit from God and think about the wonder of what this means. Luke chapter 11 verse 13 you might read it and you think. Well, I wasn't asking for the Holy Spirit. I was asking for. Well, whatever you fill in the blank that you would be asking God for, remember his spirit is the fountain from which all the good things we desire flows. And this is the beauty of Jesus promise and Luke chapter 11 verse 13. When we ask for comfort, for example, Jesus doesn't just give us comfort. He gives us the comforter. When we ask for strength. Jesus doesn't just give us strength. He gives us the Holy Spirit, who is omnipotent. When we ask for peace, he gives us the spirit of peace when we ask for filling the blank every good gift that we desire. He doesn't just give us gifts. He gives us himself. He gives us the greatest gift. The Holy Spirit to dwell in us to fill us to lead us to guide us. Even that, he doesn't just give us guidance in our lives. He gives us the guide to live in us and lead our thoughts and our desires. What an awesome verse. God gives us himself when we ask. So God we ask, we want more of you. We need more and more and more of you praise you for all the good gifts you give in our lives for comfort for peace for wisdom for strength, for guidance, and yet even as we pray that we praise you for not just giving us these gifts. We praise you God for being our guide for being our strength for being our peace for filling us with the spirit of wisdom for not just counseling us, but for giving us the counselor for not just comforting us, but giving us the comforter all glory be to your name for your spirit. Your presence inside of us. So we say we want more. We want your Holy Spirit to fill us and lead us and guide us and overwhelm us, captivate us, have your way in us. We ask for this knowing this is the greatest gift we could receive from you, yourself, God even as we pray this. We know Jesus words to us that we would receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us to be witnesses to the ends of the earth, so we pray that by the power of your spirit in us today, you can make us witnesses to people around us of your grace and your love that we would introduce people to you today through Jesus and God we pray that it helps to be faithful witnesses to the ends of the earth until all the people's nations, tribes, languages have been reached with the good news of your love, gory prey that your spirit in us would send lead guide us wherever you desire however you will for the spread of your glory. The greatest gift of all among all the nations we pray this in light of your word to us, your promise, Jesus, and Luke chapter 11 verse 13 amen.

"Who the former Padres great, who passed away at age 76 and condolences to friends and family and Padres fans who enjoyed his career, but Nick Colbert, you know, he did a lot of things in his career. He was a big leaguer for ten years and accomplished a lot and played for not just the Padres primarily the Padres, but he broke in with Houston and then he bounced around a bit at the end with the tigers and the expos and the a's. But most known for his time as a star level player with the Padres and perhaps best known for continuing to hold the record for most home runs by a San Diego padre, which the fact that Nate kolbert holds that record that this came up in episode years ago, I think about 5 years ago episode 1179 with Jeff, where Jeff and I both marveled at the fact that Nate Colbert was the holder of this record and he still is. And I think it's very emblematic of the Padres history that Nate Colbert is the record holder and not just that he's the record holder, but also that the record is a 163 home runs, which is a lot lower than the record for any other franchise. So culvert has, he had a very interesting career, he started out, he was signed as an undrafted amateur free agent. It was the year before the draft was put in place by the Cardinals, his hometown team, and then he ended up going to Houston to the Astros and the esters sort of missed evaluated him. They drafted him from the Cardinals as a rule 5 pick, and then they kept him on the roster all year, barely playing, so he missed out on some development time, and then they tried to basically turn him into a spray hitter like a slap hitter, go the other way type guy, even though he was like a Deadpool power guy. It was almost like a David Ortiz type story where the team just did not know what they had in him. And he was like slugging in the minors and winning a words in the miners and just didn't hit in his limited time with the Astros because they were trying to turn him into something that he was not. So the Padres drafted him in the expansion draft as the 18th pick in 1968 and it turned out to be a brilliant pick and Nate culprit was an original padre when the Padres became an expansion team and played in 1969. And for his first 5 full seasons in the majors and his 5 first seasons with the Padres, he was a star level player, and he was an all star three times and he got MVP votes in 1972, which was his career year. And he did hit a lot of home runs during that time, not just by Padres standards, but he actually just did hit a lot of home runs. And he also holds some other interesting records. So in 1972, which again was his best year, he had a double header where he hit 5 homers and drove in 13 runs, and those are both major league records. He's tied with Stan Musial for most homers in the double header. He's tied with Mark whitten for most RBI in a double header. And then I believe he still holds the record for the highest percentage of team runs driven in or alternatively the highest percentage of team RBI produced by one player. So he accounted for almost a quarter of the Padres RBI in 1972 or 23% of their runs scored were driven in by Nate Colbert and those are still, I think, records over while the burger for the 1935 grapes. And that sort of speaks to the Padres were bad. He was good. So in those first 5 seasons, or I guess his entire time with the Padres 60s and they never won more than 63 games in a season, they had by far the fewest wins in MLB over that 60s in span. And he was by far their most valuable hitter, either hit her or pitcher, but he was almost three times as valuable as any other position player. And he was just sort of your standard slugging first baseman wasn't going to give you a ton of defense, wasn't like an incredible all around hitter, but he was a slugger. He could hit for a lot of power. And nowadays, we think of the Padres as just like a cornucopia of stars. I mean, they have stars upon stars upon stars. But for much of their history, that was not really the case. And so he still has the records, which is really, it's kind of amazing. And over that period of 1969 to 1973, which was his peak 5 seasons, he had the 8th most home runs in the majors or tied with Harmon killebrew for the 8th most homers from 69 to 73, a 149 homers, he was 39th in war and 24th in batting runs among position players over that span. But tied for 8th in homers, which was particularly impressive because the Padres park was very hard to hit homers and it was a pitcher's park. It still is a pitcher's park. It's a different park now. But when they played before petco, they played in Qualcomm, which was originally known as San Diego stadium and then Jack Murphy, stadium, but whatever you called it, it was a pitcher's park and petco is too. And each of those parks over time has been made more hitter friendly, like San Diego stadium had deep fences and also high fences and they lowered the fences at some point in petco has been twice revised to be more hitter friendly, but is still fairly picture friendly. So Nate Colbert during his time as a padre, he actually hit 91 homers on the road and 72 at home, which is unusual in every single season. He played for the Padres, he hit more homers on the road than at home, which is indicative of what that park was like. So reading from his saber bio here, considered among the toughest parks for home run hitter, San Diego stadium had a deep 420 foot center field with the three 75 foot power rallies, all of which were made even more imposing by a 17 foot outfield wall, whitey, white all men were whittled in one of our coaches drew an imaginary wine on his scorebook on what the dimensions were in most of the other ballparks recalled Colbert, and then he took where I hit every ball and he said every year routinely, I would hit 15 to 20 balls that would be off the walls on the warning track in deep center that would have been home runs in another ballpark. So this was like a Proto stat cast kind of adjusting for different ballparks. That sounds like an overestimate to me.

Padres Nate Colbert Nick Colbert Nate kolbert Astros Cardinals Jeff Houston San Diego stadium Mark whitten expos David Ortiz tigers Stan Musial petco San Diego Nate Padres park Harmon killebrew

"I'm glad it all worked out. The baby's okay as far as you know, Shohei Ohtani is doing great. Your marriage is. He didn't even find that day because of his schedule. All right. Yeah. Okay. So it ended up best of every possible world. You didn't miss anything. You didn't end up in the doghouse for a protracted period. You know, did have to suffer through the Internet being the Internet, but who among us has suffered that fate, you know? Yeah, it worked out. Excellent. Happy ending. Okay. All right, well, I've got a bunch of emails tucked away here in a stat blast and a past blast. It's been a while since we did an email episode, so we will work our way through it, and I only have one how can you not be pedantic about baseball type question here, so we won't have a whole section of pedantic emails, but we can start with one, maybe. We don't usually lead off with the pedantic questions. But it may as well lean into it because I like this one. This one is from Dennis, who writes this question is extra pedantic and probably won't work well in an audio format anyway, but here goes. Auspicious start, but I think this will be fine. He writes in baseball, the shorthand for a player's hits versus at bats in a given game will be written as X Y, where hits equals X at bats equals Y so drew Henson, New York Yankees, one for three written as one three or hyphen three or some sort of horizontal line three and then zero RBI, one run, one strikeout, or Mark hendrickson, Toronto, one for three with a dash or hyphen, one Homer, one RBI, one strikeout. This is pretty universally how you'll see it in tickers, broadcast graphics, and plenty of other written contexts. In football, when talking about a quarterback's completions versus pass attempts in a game, the two numbers are separated by a slash in shorthand. So drew Henson, again, Detroit, one for two, one slash two, 20 yards, zero touchdowns. I believe basketball follows the same conventions for field goals and field goal attempts and free throws and free throw attempts. So Mark hendrickson, again, New Jersey nets, ten points, three for 6, three, 6, field goals, four out of four, FT four, rebounds, one assist. The latter is definitely more appropriate Dennis says, we've been using slashes in fractions since the 18th century. This is a fraction where hits are the numerator and it bats are the denominator. Henson didn't have one hit and three at bats. He had one hit out of three at bats, and it's not that baseball is all dashes and football all slashes. Baseball appropriately used dashes for a pitching record and football appropriately uses X Y for touchdowns interceptions, which is not a fraction. So why is this problem unique to hits slash at bats or hits over at bats? How did we end up using dashes in this fraction? Did early newspapers not have slashes? Why hasn't it changed? And I was curious about the origins of this. I was thinking, maybe it has something to do with 19th century type setting, who knows, maybe they didn't have slashes or slashes were harder for newspapers back then or something. That could be why I emailed our past past blaster Richard hershberger to ask about this and he said he had nothing. He had no idea who it's rare that I stump him with any kind of question, but he does not know why it's dashes instead of slashes or how it started that way. It's been that way forever as far as we can tell. But due to agree that this is weird and wrong because Dennis has convinced me that it's a fraction and why should we not present it as a fraction? I guess I have seen it sometimes maybe as a fraction. At some places or some sites some context, but usually not, but why? Do we think that it's because an I don't know why this wouldn't be the case for football. This is not a good explanation for the football of it all. But do we think it's because the vernacular you use is like a batter went one four four or one for 5 and then you're just like extracting for the sake of space. The four there. Is that anything there? Is that anything? Yeah, I mean, when we calculate batting average, we're all we all know what we do. We know there's division. It's a fraction there, but yes, you're right when we say it. We don't usually say one. I mean, we say, you don't say he went one out of three or you say one for three. So I guess it's less obviously of a dash or a hyphen or a M dasher and in dash or whatever it is, maybe it's a different lengths of dash sometimes. But yeah, you're right. You don't say it in a way that suggests division. So I guess we don't present it that way. Do you have any other thoughts about this, Jacob? I agree a 100%. In fact, I immediately was myself pedantic and thought dashes does this listener know what he's talking about. These are fractions, of course. They slash it. So now I was mistaken next time I see this with a dash. I'm going to be pedantic about it too. Yeah. Well, and it's hard for me as an editor, you know, if I can put my editor head on because in copy, you would write out one letter for 6 or whatever. That's the way that you would write it out. It looks to you for following the super style guide. So, you know, it wouldn't occur to me to make it a fraction. Like, I don't think that, I don't think that copy has to follow the form and function of the math behind it, you know? Like as long as we know what we're talking about. Yeah. The real question is why, because when you talk about a quarterback

"Transition and be then exporting our solutions globally. I think the feeling is a 2030 target a serious 2030 target helps you do that. But Morrison is attending Glasgow and of course Putin and she and not participating in Glasgow. Marian, China is addicted to call. It produces about 27% of global emissions, Russia is piping gas across Europe at a very high price level this winter. And of course, Biden, as we mentioned before, is calling on the Saudis and OPEC to boost oil production. So given all of this, how can we be optimistic about a legally binding verifiable and enforceable deal that will actually slash the kind of emissions we need to reduce temperatures? Alice. Oh, well, I think that there is movement afoot. I think China wants to be a leader of some China experts say we shouldn't draw anything from the fact that president Xi is not attending. He hasn't apparently left the country since COVID-19 began to spread and he has remained focused on Chinese interests. But China has a real desire to lead in this space. I think we could see greater ambition from them. They are certainly suffering the impacts very dramatically from flooding this summer. For example, where citizens were caught in subway cars. As the flood rise floodwaters rose. And Russia, it's pretty clear that Russia will do its own thing going forward. I believe that president Putin wants to go slowly. Of course, Russia is very dependent on its ability to trade and fossil fuels. But similarly, Russia has trouble with the impact the melting tundra wildfires. So over time, I'm confident that these nations will move. It's a matter of urgency. But I don't think we can write them off is not being part of this quite yet. This is all happening against the backdrop of an increasingly intense strategic competition between China and the United States. How is it possible that the U.S. and the UK and Australia for that matter? How can we help our main strategic competitor China become more energy independent? Because ultimately, this is what it's all about. Getting China off fossil fuels, particularly coal to which it's addicted, how on earth can the Western countries do that in this environment? Marion. I'm actually one of those people Tom who think that China will be a leader in the clean energy space. If you look at the moment, China is leading in solar and wind way ahead of other countries and of course cleverly we live and let them take back our solar technology, which is help them enormously in this field. But I was fascinated to see in I think it was in August this year, there was a statement out of the Chinese hydrogen association, which is very, very closely aligned with Beijing and you had companies like cyano pick talking about green hydrogen about competing strategically with the EU on green hydrogen. And you've got to remember from China's point of view, it's actually helps them enormously if they can get a lot more energy independence, especially on oil, gas, but also on those extra coal imports met coal in ports for steel that come from Australia. And I think the other thing is that China knows that whoever in a sense dominates in the clean energy race will have this enormously contribute to their national security. And they see India on one side with huge investments in new energy at Japan on the other side and the United States most importantly as really pushing ahead and this space. And I think that will in the end really play into China's thinking on this. Marian Alice to be continued. Thanks so much for being on ABC's RN. Thanks, Tom. Thank you. Marianne Wilkinson, is author of the carbon club, how a network of influential climate skeptics, politicians, and business leaders, fought to control Australia's climate policy. And Alice hill is from the council on foreign relations in New York and author of the fight for climate after COVID-19. It's a lovely thing that summary well juicy. Tonight's al is aspect. English natural mineral water sparkling. Oh yeah. I took janis advice from the previous conversation. Fourteen points at damage. Fourteen puts his damaged very nice gets any sparkling mineral water. Drink can be pretended to be another drink. Well it tastes great. I'm actually drinking bit. It's being filtered once through the valley fourteen from me. Wow that's brilliant. Is it war tours beer. Well it's difficult to tell this matter. Perception escorted out of damage. You've done on the looking for being filtered once again if you know what i mean. He's a motor right. Hamdi send it to johnny boy. You both thing from us. It's presumably really is wall. Turney bought it in a plastic bottles. Well i bought anyway. There's leszek listen case. can you make constitution. Safe dc fourteen and seven for ten total just wondering about what was the gays thing was enfeeblement. Something wasn't it slow to we really want the slowing effect we to save on this every round or lasts last particular time a period of time and then the save. We seem to think. That's exactly right. I think i'll say my dice. You're gonna save it. You are slowed parker. Your movement is topped hav you take a minus two penalty to your on class and old extremity saving throws. You can't use reactions on your turn. You can either use an action or bonus action but not both. Maybe i shouldn't have as the owner dice. You caught make more than one mile range to basically a complete nightmare. Especially for well making the wrong decision coulda shoulda woulda seasons. The other thing that happens is mickey mind. Flare is back in the game from above you buy graft this thing shoots down into your field of view did either ready action prepared around its potential appearance. It points its bony slimy cetacean tahiliani finger at you and goes Just makes that noise and zaps you with something. Sent me or sandra both of you. You need to give me a d. c. Fifteen intelligent safe. Everybody's favorite save fades you with psychic minus worn on this. Say say jammie get outta sondra air points. Rollo's twenty one well plus six on intelligence. Yes i'm trying to. I'm looking at that. I'm trying to figure that one out is the brigham protection gives plus to one which is plus three so got. Would you mean another one. Would you mean enough one doesn't stack. Can you carry fireplace plays do you have proficiency in intelligence yes so that's going to be a proficiency abundance which is plus three three plus three one bonus from your intelligence itself app and then you've got to bonus reviewing protection. Yes so so. You're both completely unaffected by it says. Do you show up something something to do with god and it is buggies round your little balcony. It's five away for letting in space in front. Luckily i have my question. So he can eighteen tailgates or impacting. Area i walt very good point graham. The goldfish has got to make a save. Let's make a say graham. Well no in. This could go to your this very rich vantage. How well the goldfish is going to have. Intelligent safe of minus something right. This is rob dyson. See if we need to look it up. We don't need to look it up. Not oh yeah you're right grandma. Take the damage when it could for the goldfishes. It's it's dead since the creature take rather law damage as well and the excess damage carries over to the normal form. This is very much to your advantage. Twenty six points of psychic damage the goldfish at one point the oak to poet monster that now reappears. Yes takes twenty. One who jinping the balcony buggy and everything which we'll get into the effect of it suddenly appearing squished into that space. My food on the other side. It might do you my saying that you were holding the flask in your hand. Yeah we're gonna hand wave any idea of damage from the fact that the flask shatters ever think that's to be out some kind of reaction soon as this thing starts as the loop out. The conserve lego were about it was a goldfish and then instantly. It's this ten foot across john altemus. I don't think it something. That's two goes. It squeezed into the area. So yeah i think a very good chance that it will fall off the balcony into the room but i was things a very good chance that it worked full onto whatever it is below. It looks more wounded when you last saw it by. It's difficult to tell with. Push bright up against your face like it is. It's like being in a phonebox and pulling the cord on an inflatable life. Basically space of this thing is just called. It might fall out. It might stay where it is wedged in with you in this space Heard we'd adjudicate this. I think we do what we always do. Is rose d. Six on a one to three it center of gravity when reforms is such a drag over the edge and i will give it a chance potentially to save itself on a four to six. It is on the inside of the balcony and effectively. You've got uncle. Boggy squished inside a single space. And we can kind of pick that in a moment. Happy happening one-two-three. Its center of gravity is over the edge of the balcony which means that it will fool can save itself but i have even better news because as a result of it failing at saving throw it stunned me and therefore this thing just is totally returned into being and falls to the ground taking does defy fates. It takes three six damage. Eight points of folding damage. It falls possibly pushing like little behave..

Well if it's between us the root out if can release you might as well just lob over an hopefully. The damage sustainable. Well that was my original plan. At least if you're going to release it at least do some damage to it throws into the giant room. Yeah so they will fall. It will get five fifty six sixty six. We could try something clever light throwing it up and seeing if we can do trick shot with a crossbow to release it in midair so that expanded then takes full damage but the thing is the soon as we open the door. That's going to be a little bit more difficult because we will have to contend with. Well then there's a stinking cloud to deal with decisions. Come on come on move on well talking about split-second decision vaca- parker's gain to move to behind uncle buck. The old friendly lenient. Marcus gone and the new nasty. Mike is here new to use my remaining round to ready and attack as soon as buggy. I got it out of saunter alison. I don't know if i can move it through a closed door. I doubt that you can yeah frame. I'm assuming until i can get through an open door and it's bonus act to the door has to be open. Dan then move back towards the bottom of the stairs lead up into the brain room. Something tries to push the door. Open uncle buggy d want to stop it. I'm not going to try and stop it. But if it's going to be knocking me back then i if you insist on standing in front of the door as it swings open and don't get out of the way of it you're going to be knocked over. No mind i think so. The door slams open on this thing is in little boy. This octa point there is another two point behind it. Readied action Okay hawk off to usa. Lovely thank you. What's your reach. Yeah second attack in hisses in dismay yeah fifteen for twenty one which also yeah absolutely the six points damage six is a to. I'm assuming to is unfortunately short of what was required. We set the barlow and you failed to meet it. What about the sandra your ready to. Actually this thing is just on the other side of buggy just in the doorway and came crossbar tank off the second way. Ready to actions are a single attack right. It's it's using your reaction to make a single attack. Yes make an attack action too many many times that mrs anyway you that make the second attack either. That's fine because i know how much damage did you did. Six so destroy. Strike that off. Okay sorry an arm soybean to you alexander had road. Ten ten is amiss. Will they gave then. These things are in the door. The one that slammed the door open. I didn't see roll a five or six. And don't it's going to attack uncle bucky it attack an action to push the free interaction. Missed two one one. Now that would end. It's round leszek. Gambles you're come to pursue to aureus. Gamblers pepe it might as well gamble is got little to lose. If it misses it has to drawer. Critical fail card. It rose a fourteen hits arm closets. Twenty okay so that it turns out i fumble to miss so get the second attack sixteen hits across twenty two which is a hit on you. Doing six forty nine took the raging obagi that the one behind it bathes you with its baleful igloo. Can you make a constitution saving throat. Dc fourteen these ants stupid mundane for ties isn't it. Do you want me to be nice and a friend guide storyteller no okay well you are slowed pang on. I don't mrs slow last. can you want to be nice though. But i haven't quite finish incense. I have number of rounds and you make a saving throw the end of each round your round. The i can remember yet but that's it might be wasn't at the end of every round. It was the end of every other. I seem to remember can. Can you remind us mike option. It's just because we're nice. Mike in rio. Los mike has left the building because we didn't play for a couple of weeks and count remember. Mike would tell you that that seemed to be a fixed duration after which you got to make a saving throw and then also the fact was ended when you slayed slough slowed coleslaw slew. The creatures a period in which you don't get a safe and then he gets safe precisely but that period was not consistent between the two people that fell victim to it so from that that there is a dice roll. If i took an action would get phoo action. It's but now they've movement from slowed. Your speed is hard. You can take an action or a reaction.

That's right you can shoot randomly down a corridor that you seemed to be there and in the hope of fitting something yeah. I think i'm going to do that. I'm gonna move five foot. You don't know where anything is in there. So what did you make perception. Check to see if you can pick up a signal okay. He pulled a chain at spilled this cauldron of leaning wax that had caught fire between the two of them which gave carly and nick time to leave because the man can cross so they run down this tunnel and up some stairs. Find themselves back in the wax museum. This is when they find. Wade's body yet obviously been killed and also turned into lots figure. Unplaced in museum carly searched. Freaking up nichols like we don't have time to mourn right now girl we gotta get our asser. They find a way to the front door. Bo ended up stabbing national league with a very large hunting knife but carly came in before boca do anymore damage and basically beat. Bow to a bloody pulp with meal. S will while this fight is happening. The fire that nick started in the locker room had taken off an manage to start melting the wax in the museum so the floor is melting. "Bo grabs her buzzes. Hanover's mouth and hold a knife tour throat. She said it sounded. Like nick dalton. She heard them walk into the station but then she heard them leave an about this time. That bo grab some superglue and glued her left shut. Shaw girl wasn't messing around. After he had secured her bow left and pretty soon she heard the front door open she hears neck. Walk in and ask bo. If he's seen his sister and her boyfriend and then she heard both say. I haven't seen anyone. It's been really quite around here today. We'll carly manage to break free enough. That she is able to climb on top of the chair and stick her finger up and there was like a great in the road. Hey so she's sticking your finger up. They're hoping that neck would see that. She was like waving to him through the great. The next thing she knew is that her finger the tip of your fingers. She's waving was like she felt this. Immense pain pulled her hand down and he someone at snipped the tip of her finger off. Oh she manages to pull her lips apart and she starts screaming will next year's her she can hear them struggling upstairs. Eventually nick comes down the stairs. he's able to help carly get out of her restraints. They go back. Upstairs bows missing. So he says. Let's go over to this house. Because i saw a lady looking out of her window earlier maybe she has a phone. And carly's i it's not gonna be lady colleagues like i don't think anyone here is alive. I think everyone here is made of wax. So they get to that lee's house she peers to the window again. And that's when. Nick looks in and sees it. She is definitely a hooked up to some sort of mechanical apparatus. That's making her turn and move while lucky for them across the street. The appears to be a weapon store. It's locked but nick does waste any time he breaks. The window he grabs a crossbow from a mannequin. But about that time a gunshot rings through the air and strikes a mannequin. And it's bo. You'd come back with a shotgun nick and carly run. They hide in a movie theater. Where whatever happened to baby. Jane just happens to be playing god. I love that. So being bette davis and being so creepy such that movie and it just happens as a scene. Where betty davis is singing. I read a letter year. Whatever so bo comes inside the movie theater now. The theatre had what appeared to be several people watching the movie but they too are all made of wax carly thought by stay really still. I can sit in the middle of them at. He'll never know that. I'm wax well but wasn't stupid. Obviously he probably put these figures in here. he had walk into the bottom. He eventually spotted her. He shot at her but she managed to drop. Nick happened to be at the top of theater and managed to shoot bow in the forearm with the crossbow. So this gave them time to get out they around to the lobby. But this didn't slow. Bow down much at all. He ran the stairs but surprisingly enough when he exited. Nick was danny out there with a crossbow. Shot again in the chest. The cosby show to drop okay..

"A guy came out. Introduced himself as bo. Astra for everything was okay. They told him like. We're sorry for interrupting the service but we're looking for the owners of the service station because we need a fan belt and he said well. I'm the owner of the service station. I can meet you there in about thirty minutes. Once the funerals over they walked around town. They discovered this big art deco like building kind of off to the side and they'd seen a billboard for a wax museum when they were driving the night before and they figured while since it's obviously a tourist attraction will go check it out while we wait for the field and when they get there they notice that there was a closed sign on the door. But we'd figured everyone was probably a funeral door wasn't locked. They went ahead walked inside new soon as they walked in this room. Full of lifelike wax figures. Everything inside was made of waxing. The walls everything that goes entirely made of wax. The detail was amazing. They started looking around. They noticed that everything was super dusty. So it obviously done awhile. Since anyone had been in there so carly said she looked up and saw what appeared to be a man looking at them from outside and when she spotted him he ran off. This startled her so wade ran outside to see who it was thought. Maybe it was a mechanic or something funeral was done. They're ready to to go so carly waited inside. Started to get freaked out. There was something really off about the place. The lifelike wax figures gave her the creeps. Eventually she left. She grabbed wade and she's like look we need to go. It's been forty five minutes now. The do should be done so they go back to the to the store. No sign signing mechanic way decides. He just gonna help himself to the fan belt and leave some money but unfortunately they didn't have the exact size he needed but they had one. That was just a little bit bigger. That way like. I can make this work while right is about to leave. The dude showed up music. Are you trying to rip me off. What's the deal. I told you and wade said no. I'm sorry we just thought you were held up. I left some money on the counter. Gonna take this one. It's not the right size but whatever news like well. Actually i got a shipment in as up at the house. If you wanna just right up there with me i can get the fan belt for you. I'll take you back. We'll get a fix together. Those starting to get dark so it was like well. I could use the help so eight here in idiot right. They both carlene. Wade get into the truck. They had up those really friendly really nice. "Hey sorry are we on private property. Should we not be here. We need to move. Melons has a thing. Some neck being the temperamental aggressive dude. That he was through a beer bottle at a truck and knocked out one of the headlights. Well they sat there. The trevor revved his engine a few times and then back down left so the group is a little shaken wondering as we just pack up and leave. I waited a bit. The truck didn't return so they all went to their tents much later than they expected. Well the next day blake yelled out dude. We overslept by a time. It was already two thirty in the afternoon. They all slept way later. So the scrambled to get ready packing things up will carleen page got into the woods to p and the sickening smell. Returned will carling's curiosity at the better of her so she walked into the woods to see where it was coming from with. Page reluctantly behind her harley hadn't gone far before she slipped and tumbled down embankment and fell hands i into a pile of animal. Carcasses chee page started screaming because carly couldn't get back up the embankment so the boys all came running the helped pull her up about this time. A guy in a truck pulls up he gets out and then tosses a deer carcass in the pile will wade carly's boyfriend yelled out to the guy and asked if there was a service station nearby when carly asked him why he needed to service station. He told her he'd just tried to start his car. But a brand new fan belt that it just put in had broken. Don't break odell exactly will blake tried to convince wade does just leave your car here will head into baton rouge will attend. The game will pick up a fan belt. Y hair will come back for your car. then fix it will Will wade was uncomfortable. Leaving his car there was his baby classic plus he didn't trust that the guy from the night before wasn't going to come back and then do something to his car so carcass guy is like yeah. There's a service station not too far away. I can give you a ride. So it's like great and carly said. I'm not letting you go by yourself. I am a little creeped out. Guy looks very backwoods. I don't fully chain. So i'm gonna come with you. So the rest of the crew are like okay awesome. We're going to head to baton rouge. we're gonna go to the game when we get. There will buy tickets for you. You guys get the fan belt fix. The car will be waiting and batters eventually carly in wade made it into town. Super small town was called. Ambrose there are a few shops along the street. A few cars but the town seemed really quiet. And by the way they had to say came up on this ravine. There was no bridge over this like rocky terrain to get into town. The dude was like. I need a pop mike car into four wheel. Drive and carleen waiver really freaked out by him because he had a nice and he just looked really weird. They were getting your creepy vibes. So we'll we'll cross on foot nobel. There are some rocks there. Thank you for giving us arrived as far so they see a service stations. They go inside. There's music playing but no one's there. They see that there's a church at the end of the street. So they walk up. They go into the church and there's obviously a funeral service going on as soon as they walk in like. Oh shit one do turns and looks at them. They get kind of stern luck from the pastor. Oh sorry we didn't mean to interrupt so they left dinking. Well obviously someone's going to come out after this funerals done so we can get them to help us..

"They would see like there would be another cube. Like there's were. There was some sort of monster like there was dana saw aware wolf in wine and she saw like some sort of hell. Lord in another in dana noticed that this hell lord had a red ball and she recognized that read bacher based now but she recognized the red ball from the basement and dina's starts realizing wait a second all of these monsters that we're seeing are holding something from that basement. How weird wrote won't remember. Dana is a smarty she somehow puts it together. That those things they were looking at in the basement are tied to a monster in some way And basically they were choosing their deaths when they were deciding what artifacts to look at her now it makes no logical sense at all. But she's like. That's the only thing i can see. There's also an elevator in the middle of a grave. Nothing's making sense. This is the only thing that does so they reach what i guess is a lobby of some sort and someone is speaking to them over the loudspeaker the person is telling them to just give up that their debts are necessary and that their debts part of something bigger and dinner from death specifically their death. Specific is part of a much bigger thing. They need to just go ahead and die. 'cause you just need to again. It's some woman over the intercom right. What are you gonna do so she. She and marty start running. Because obviously i'm not gonna listen to this body lewis woman rocking me over an intercom They start running. They reach what looks like a control booth. Kind of occur and dana hits the button while they're in there and she's not sure what it does but she can hear mass chaos happening outside of the bhutto so dana and martin get out of this room and they're like running through the malay what what she put together was that whatever button. She pushed released all those monsters into this like lobby and so they're running through. Luckily the monsters are all distracted by other people. Because this there's a lot of like office worker.

Because that's due to have two single girl in the woods so she stabbed him or like him with the crowbar in was able to get away. They got out and with one of their other friends. So now dana is there with the guy that they were trying to hook her up with and the boyfriend so her best friend isn't there. Kerr no idea where she is. And the nerdy kind of guys. Not there no idea ca but they get out there and they're just like oh my gosh we gotta go gotta go and so they got in the van and went to leave like you would. The curse started everything. All is well perfect. As they were driving they come across a ravine and they couldn't pass by like some damage had been done to it And so the boyfriend decided okay. You know what i could jump. This ravine not with van. Obviously he had his motorcycle with him so he was like. I can jump this easily. it's not that far. I can go get his help. And i'll be back. Just be careful on everything. So they were like. Oh my go-to okay. So he gets on his bike he starts to go and then just out of nowhere. He like rashed but he couldn't see what he crashed into. It just crashed dropped while they were like we assume because he dropped far so dana in holden are breaking out they get back into the van in the start going the other way. They're just like we just have to get but as they're driving. Holden was driving as driving. A man comes from the back of the vans in this van is more like an rv. "The bug was weak because smarty pants rick had left the headlights on to give them some light when they were out in the woods and the battery of drained since they had no other way back to the cabin. The two of them walked when they got back to the cabin. All of the lights were off. There was a fire going in the living room and they smell something burning and the kitchen kris found a pan of popcorn that have been left unattended on the stove. Rick tried turning on the lights but it appeared the power had gone out so he called out for andy and debbie known answered. It appeared that everyone left. But chris knew they hadn't because the only way for them to leave would been with her van. She had the keys and her van was parked outside so rick went outside to see if he could find out what was going on with the power while chris continued looking around the house trying to figure out where everyone had gone while she went upstairs and found at. The bathroom was surprisingly. Well let for being in the middle of the night and there was no power but it was surprising was the amount of water on the floor and appeared. The bathtub was overflowing so when she opened the shower curtain she found the shower running and there was a bathtub full of water and bloody clothing. She ran outside calling for rick and this is only body of what appeared to be a dead biker. Dropped from a tree as she walked by it. L. a. ameliorate back into the house screaming for rick but he didn't answer so now she's totally terrified. There's a bathtub full of bloody clothing. A dead dude. She didn't know hanging in a tree outside. And a massive windstorm suddenly sprung up outside and was knocking all the windows and doors open because evidently no one knew how to lock the doors windows. And that's what happens when you're in the middle of nowhere totally and they're at people. Yes so she's running around the living room trying to all the windows and she cries out for wreck one more time to please help her and it was then that a body came crashing through one of the big picture windows in the living room. It was rick. There was no way homeboy could help her now because when she got to him she saw the blood. It ain't she knew he was obviously dead. This was when she heard footsteps coming from she looked up in time to see a hulking man in a hockey mask staring back at her. He held an axe and started to climb in through the window. Chris naturally screened and took off running up the winding staircase which is exactly what any final girls go after. All of them have to do as soon as she got to the top of the stairs she pushed over a bookcase to block the path and then ran down the hall where every one of the lights consonants now up. Evidently the power was only off downstairs. It's a miracle. Chris i mean as not a least her path lead but she didn't have time to think about the logistics of why the power was on upstairs but not downstairs because she's being pursued by a guy with an axe so she closes the doors to the bedrooms to make it look like maybe gone into one of them and then she went and hidden the closet at the very end of the hall and locked it. Because every 'cause it has a lock on the inside. I guess at least in the eighties..
