"Show. Acknowledge that you're a different show. Don't try to tie it right to Game of Thrones. We've already established, we've seen Game of Thrones. You don't need to sell us on it. You already fucking. We're already watching. You don't need to say like, oh, look, we're the same series. We know, we're here. We're watching. That bugged me. And I think that's why they probably may use this because they're going after the Game of Thrones people. This is coming from here. So for me, I'm just like, hey, you know, and people are like, oh yeah, I watched Game of Thrones last minute or whatever. It's like, this is what they're trying to get people to watch it again. And I'm not going to do that. And I was like, yeah, guys, we've been there done that. And so that's why I don't think they're going to do the same music, and they're going to do their own intro, which they clearly did. Because they did own this one. They didn't have an opening. I don't need to see the King's Landing and everything like towering up. I feel like they're like, oh, we're going to do some things different, but we're not going to do something different. And you can't have it both ways, but regardless, people are still going to watch. So here's my thought. I told Joe this, like my wife or watching this, it's like, so George R. R. Martin has said in multiple interviews now. He's doing publicity for this show how he was disappointed that the writers of the TV show kind of ran off in their own direction with the later seasons. Get fucked. He literally said he gave them an outline and about where the story was going in his books. And in some ways, they listened to him and in some ways they didn't. And to me, the only reason you bring it up in an interview is if it's pissing you off. If it irks you that they did that. And so to me, him putting that scene in this story because he is a co creator co producer like he has a hand in this. That was what he was. This is his retcon. Yes, and he has literally written the story for this is finished for him. So that's why I have a little bit of hope for this because it's like he has a hand in this all the way. And so it's like he is trying to retcon his own vision of what's going to happen in the books into this story. There has to be a felt so heavy handed.

"Yeah, we need the narrative to go where we need it to go. So you have freedom, but not a lot of freedom. Yeah, you can play in the playground, but yeah. Well, it's kind of like George R. R. Martin talks about when you're writing. There's kind of two different approaches you can take and say, okay, we have a starting point. You have an endpoint. And what are you doing to get there? Happens happens. Yeah. Or you can have a starting point, figure out your characters, figure out what those characters are going to do, logically, and then you just branch out from there and where you end up, you end up. So it goes. But when you're in that writing position where you're starting at a point and you're ending at a point, you're very much forced into you're going to end up somewhere, you're going to have to kind of make the actions make sense for where you're going to end up. It felt like that in this movie. Yeah. So two things we can talk about really quick. Obviously, our thoughts on the film as a whole. And then the big nerd tastic portion of the second act where everybody was going crazy. Oh, yeah. So we can touch on both of those. Really quickly, in fact, this is obviously the sequel to doctors. It takes place not long after Spider-Man: No Way Home. And so it follows Doctor Strange, really processing the idea of coming back to life after the blip. And the love of his life get married to someone else. But then also also watching the sorcerer go to somebody else, somebody else be this horse or spray. We're kind of seeing him at a low point in his character arc. And then obviously he's dealing with the continuing expansion of the multiverse, which is like this whole phase of marvel, is about that. I think that explosion of multiverse. And so basically it's him crossing over to multiple universes to try and write the wrongs. Man, that sounds like quantum leap when I'm saying them out loud. He's trying to like shit. We should just watch quantum way. And Doctor Strange is hoping the next leap is going to be the leap home. But basically trying to fix the situation, put the universe back into its or it reminds me of everything everywhere all the time where it's like, did I say that right? No. Everything everywhere. All I want. Want to say all the time. It reminds you of that where it's like you have all these different multiverses. And it's a very fragile ecosystem that is easy to corrupt. It's a fragile, complex machine that if you mess up one thing, it's like you have to deal with all the fallout. It's a Rube Goldberg kind of a thing where it's like it falls apart very easily. And so doctor train is trying to put the contraption back in order to where it all works..

"Do you ever find yourself sort of in a way, I don't know what the term would be, but I have just felt that like sometimes when I hear somebody's got a long time to write something or whatever you get the George R. R. Martin thing, it's just it either takes forever or when it comes out like some games in particular I've noticed just don't really have an edge in some of the quests or everything sounds like it's delivered from the same person instead of that particular character..

"I actually, again, thought there was something Supernatural going on. Like it felt like more than it was, or it was going to be. I think for me what I like for narrative purposes, it's like for Alexa the effect. The music with the way the ending was handled. Writing the haiku. Dumb takes a couple seconds, but you've got to naked ass dude right in haiku. And you're looking around. You're just tree pedals are beautiful and I'm just like, dude, somebody took the time, it's like hot coffee, but good, you know, I don't know if you guys remember the hot coffee fiasco, but the sex and GTA that they removed. And it was once again in the remaster, right? Yeah. Tristan, $10 super chat or just tune in to stream one to say, I hope you guys are having a good time. Always appreciated listening. Thank you very much. We're like 40 minutes over. Yeah, dude, those are all good. I had forgotten, I forgot most of those. Somebody said they didn't like mass effect threes ending, which yeah, we can all agree. But near automata, I wasn't a fan of that, 'cause there were too many. I didn't find it satisfying was the thing. I loved it. Did you get to are you talking about ending E, which is like the final final final. I did man with the credits. It was amazing. The credit sequence, and then the little thing they showed afterwards, I thought, I didn't find the explanations reasonings and different things satisfying. Yeah, I don't look for that. A lot of it didn't make sense. But that's because the question was, is it satisfying? And to me, that's like, does it come together? Yeah. Like for me, satisfying can be different things. I get what you mean. I mean, I love it, it's still reverse reverse, I thought this said reverse gang bang. Reverse gutter Berg press. I just read it for a second. ACG, don't you think that games that games refused to end the game, storyline? Because they have no good ending. Nobody knows how to end a book in a satisfying way either. I disagree, man. I see a lot of well, they're not necessarily modern books, but it's difficult, probably. It's a mentally difficult to write a proper answer. Or to make a game. The ending wasn't satisfactory in the guys like, dude. I mean, I lost. I think there's a significant reason why George R. R. Martin hasn't finished Wednesday. For sure. Yeah, I tease him all the time, but he's just slow. Right. I think it's more, I think it goes to more than that because he's written other stuff in the meantime? Exactly. So yeah, that's the problem. It also writes a fucking book..

"Like, yo, come on, man. You fought for this clearly. And there must have been three other people that hated this song being put on there. So yeah, I was really bummed out, listening to this album, but man, dear prudence, while my guitar gently weeps, blackbird, I will, Julia, obliged, like those are beautiful. Beautiful collective sonic products for me. Yeah, I'm gonna give this album a 6. Just because there are some really, really remarkable songs on here, but man, it was a sad listen because I knew what they were capable of. And yeah, I'm with George R. R. Martin. Whittle this thing down to ten to 12 songs and you got an album that can compete with Rubber Soul and revolver and sergeant pepper. Yeah, I agree with a lot of that. It does suck to hear, you know, a group that we're all very much huge fans of and a lot of the world are huge fans of The Beatles. But it seemed like they were just working against each other as opposed to working in unison. And that's very unfortunate. One of the greatest things about being in a group in a band is the ability to feed off of each other for us to be in the spot Tony fucking plays a, you know, a guitar groove, and then even Ben finds something that's, you know, and an octave higher on the keys and then you got Libby coming into interweaving between both and Chico starts rapping something improv. It's nothing doper than building off of each other. With a common goal in mind to create this greatness, man, The Beatles are exceptional group. They're.

"E. Don't know what their preoccupation and she loves that hairstyle, two perps or something like that. Oh, alrighty. Let's see. By the way, The new covert straight is coming or it's here And don't panic. That's what people tell you. No need to panic on this one. All viruses do mutate in this one. Is, um In this case. It's 23 articles I said, said Yes, but there's no need to get, you know, freaked out by it. It's all viruses, eventually, sort of. Keep changing, and this one has changed as well. Here comes the fourth wave. Kournikova 19, Can it be prevented, did not likely says of Fred Hutch model, but the curve could be flattened again. So here we are. This is the we're calling this. This is the fourth wave of covert The first one started in March or February, and then it died down. We flatten the curve, but then we continued with the lockdowns. Then we loosen things up in the summer because that's what happened. The people went back outside again. And then people went inside again and then the virus doesn't go away. Just our behavior changes and then people were sick. Heard somebody epidemiologist. They don't call them waves. This is just what happens. Viruses do this, We go inside and outside the weather changes and R R effect to the virus changes as well. So, Tom, are we supposed to take cover on this fun and continue to keep everything closed down for the for the fourth wave? What can we do? So the suggestion here is that for a lot of people, including the scientist before this new variant, it came up that they thought that by this spring, and by the beginning of summer, we would probably have this thing licked, but now they realized that with this fourth variant That we're not going to be out of the woods that early. So right now, the big races between this variant and the vaccine that they'll beam or pressure if there isn't already enough pressure on to get the vaccine out, If the faster we get the vaccine out, the less Chance. This fourth. Very this variant in this fourth wave has of taking hold the idea anyway. So what they say is that right now, because I think people are obviously it's it's going to be over a year. Since they've been doing this. They're getting impatient. This is not the time to relent. This is the time to wear the mask, even between sips of coffee. I think, John no, they say that the person but they do say that keeping social distance and wearing a mask for you know, X. Still a goodly while is the way to go because we're not going to reach that herd immunity business till late. There's also some concern. The South African thing sounds terrible that that vary. It hasn't hit the United States much at all. But the UK very they think by my next month is going to be the dominant Varian and it's It's like twice as, um Twice is infectious. But the vaccine seems to work pretty well with it. So they think that can we can have a handle on that, perhaps as long as people don't change their behavior. It's the South African ones a little concerning they just stopped. The AstraZeneca stuff cause had no effect on the South African variance. But that's that's not the first wave of variant that we're concerned about. The UK was the first one The I H m D right. That's the theme of the folks that came out of these the ones that were supported by the Gates Foundation. That's where they get their money from Andre were the ones that came out early and really shot for the stars and made giant predictions of Death everywhere and then they kept kind of toning it back. But they say, by June, you're looking at sticks they going to say 630,000 deaths. Um, that's their projection. June 1st. That's what they Jonathan. You earthy H. M. Yeah, I know. I think you do You want to discredit the ihe Me? But when we first heard that the first projections where something like between 60 and 240,000, and that's when we only have like 10,000, That's ridiculous. And now that's dwarfed if only we were that successful. So they're projections have been Go ahead. Yeah, I don't read that. The nation which I did subscribe to it. It's funny. They give you one article Jacob at the nation, which is a big social socialist paper, and then they make you pay. I'm like, All right, You know what? Screw you people. I'll share capitalism works, so I paid They do a nasty piece. I mean, they repped the I H M Eve and other epidemiologists and research labs, speaking off the record at the nation because they say the Gates Foundation has so much power and they call it the Bill chill. That if you do something, and Bill Gates doesn't like it, you receive the thing on as the bill. Chill. So they say that the power of the I H m E with the Gates Foundation behind it. Is just a force to be reckoned with. And that's the one that gets the news. That's the one that gets out there. They're the ones with the predictions. They get the money. They get the research. It was $2.95 well spent at the nation. Hopefully they put that money to good use to see how the bill the bill chill had never heard that before. And you heard of anything. Did you know that the Gates Foundation is behind the HIV, Tom? I don't know if I ever read when I I've never heard of the eye jammy before this pandemic business, So I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if I'd read it in the first Seattle Times article when they profiled it. Beyond that. I don't know that the numbers are inaccurate. The knock that you always had against it was that they were inflated will now they don't look inflated. Oh, yeah, there we could catch up. The theory behind the theory behind the way that I h m E doesn't and other there other modeling there a lot of other modeling systems. What they claim they do is they just take whatever data they have, and then it's adjusted each on a daily basis. But yeah, there are. There are other ways to do models. I don't have any preference for one model over the other, a Tous point. It has a local connection would be on that. You know, If there's some other modeling system that you prefer, or the nation prefers, I'd be happy to look at the at them as well. Like the Great Barrington. I like what they do. I like the way those scientists looked at it, and I like him in Tokyo did with no lockdowns, Although they do clothes, the restaurants there eight o'clock at night, and they say people are pretty good about it. And here's crazy thing that they've done their They've said Okay. Yes, we're gonna close the restaurants down at eight o'clock at night, but to make up for it, we're going to give every restaurant $600. Do you mean period or a day or a day? $600 a day. Yeah. Okay? And is that approximate how much money they make? In a what? In a six hour shift from 62, or I don't like this deal. I guess every time they would close it down, they said, Okay, we'll do for you was will give you money because we're forcing you to close your best and stayed eight o'clock. We know you probably had a lot more money. After eight o'clock, So here's $600 for the restaurant, So that's sort of like what the P P P thing is. The government gives these businesses money to help try to keep them afloat while they're being shut down. I don't know if $16 is more or less than what we would give. But Yeah, well, the P p p. Yes..

"And then the warm black voters of you mentioned Georgia, which is certainly a success story. Ah for the kind of role that black voters come play and you also had Donald Trump made gains, particularly among black men and have AH have a big swing towards him among nonwhite communities. In some urban areas Now, obviously, that swing towards him was not enough to put him over the top. But we don't know if these are trends. Never gonna last in R R R R kind of fixed trends or this is something that is unique. To a pop to 80 uniquely device of president that really inspired the electorate, both of inspired working class whites to come out and vote for him and also, um, inspired the backlash against him, particularly in the suburbs across the country. It's a little you know, I think we need another cycle to know how much those things last there certainly worrying signs. And encouraging signs. I think for both parties now Republicans just don't have a figure who could really cobble together what Donald Trump was able to do, whereas Democrats know that this is something that's easier for them to replicate in cycle after cycle. So what role did the political mechanics like Jerry Mandarin and Electoral College play in all of this? Because while Hillary Clinton did lose the electoral college vote in 2016, she won, she won the popular vote, so Explain how that plays into this conversation. Yeah, that is the sort of Reppert representational biases. They're having an increasing effect, and that you have Democrats in terms of popular vote have done very well in presidential elections over the past few decades intend to do pretty well in congressional votes. Um, but because the you know the Senate, by its design kind of over represents rural states a zone a result of that the electoral college over represents rural states. And since you have this increasing Urban rural split that falls along Democratic and Republican lines. Republicans can simply win and can control a lot of levers of the federal government. Even when getting fewer votes in an election And this this bias is becoming more prominent. I mean, it's the reason that you had Electoral college and popular vote splits in 2000 and 2016. It might you know that this might be getting, you know, more pronounced and that I mean, we saw Joe Biden win by, I think more than 4%. On the popular vote, but he had a very narrow electoral college win in a number of states. It's possible that you know the Democratic candidate in 2024 could win. You know the popular vote by 45% points and still lose the electoral college. You know, this is having the effective you know, the Republicans are increasingly governing as a minority party. Which has all kinds of problems built into it, and it's It's an incredibly frustrating thing for Democratic voters who feel like they, you know they do what they're supposed to do as good citizens. They show up, they vote. They turn out in large numbers, and and they can still lose lose control of the federal government. Instead, I think you wanted to jump in as well. Yeah, I just wanted to. I just want to say that this governs the rules of the game and there as he said, Is this the entire kind off kind of foundational question as Republicans continue to drift further and further away from a popular vote party? Um the Senate, of course, is another challenge on this kind of structural level. When you talk about the filibuster when you talk about Even though population proportion throughout the country and this is going to have a profound effect on our democracy cannot party that is not the kind of majority party still have this much of a saying in kind of dictate, even when its governing for the winds of Ah, smaller percentage Is not really a question we've had to face in this way. You know, Republicans are coming out of November, saying, Hey, you know, we lost among these groups. We should reach out to them in new ways. They've doubled and tripled down on that message and are frankly looking more towards the rules of the game to tilt them in their favor, rather than the kind of politics That's going to be something that we're gonna have to wrestle with, because our system is is basically predicated on those sides having an equal good faith positioning and and that's not something that might be true. That might be something that's increasingly less true going forward. I'm Jenn White. You're listening to one, eh? We're talking to us dead Herndon from the New York Times and political scientists. Seth Mask it. We got this email from jazz, he says. I'm a Democrat for whom Biden was not my first choice. I like him and appreciate a service. But I was ready to move on from hetero white male boomers and national office full disclosure on the 50 year old Hedorah white male. I voted for Biden and I believe the party should new unify behind him publicly, But I would really appreciate it. If Democrats would absorb a little of that party discipline displayed by the GOP. Maybe we would be Trust it with more continued leadership. If the party looked like it had a cohesive message and strategy, and I want a pair that with this tweet we got from J Man's journal it, it says. There's nothing truly progressive about free college, universal health care and livable wages. The rightist skewed our views about what is progressive to make it look radical when most of it is basic human decency and democracy one on one Several coming. You first talk about Messaging and strategy that both of these things people talk about. Is there an effort being made by Biden not just to unify the messaging, but maybe to shift public perception off some of the policies. I think so. You know, I might. I might quibble a little bit with the first comment you got in there that at least last year throughout 2020. The Democratic Party was about as unified as I've seen it. Um and there, you know, And that is a party where there are real factions that the sort of, you know establishment versus progressive. If those of the Appropriate terms really did have some very strong disagreements. And you know, between 2016 and 2020 about what sort of policies to embrace. And what kind of candidates to nominate. Um, Andre, you know, really, just how do you how to run elections and how to govern. But once the party had roughly settled on Biden as its nominee last spring, uh, you know the lot of the left who had been uncomfortable with Biden. Really worked with him on day were, you know willing to save fine? This is important. We need to win this election and they made it clear with the issues that were important to them and what they expected out of him and he was willing to work with them. But there was not a lot of infighting. You saw some more of it after the election when you have kind of different factions of the party, arguing about what is the best way forward, and why exactly Democrats under performed at the congressional level, But for the most part, the party has been fairly unified. And there seems to be a lot of agreement. I think within the party, at least on Some of the first steps taken by the Biden administration on some of the executive orders, reversing some of the things that Trump has done, you know, embracing climate change, pushing back on white supremacy. I think we will probably see a lot more quibbling going forward when it comes to congressional actions. Where you know, Democrats just had these very slender majorities in Congress. And there's there's gonna be real limits on what you know. Progressives air pushing for And you know the most conservative Democrats in the House and the senator willing T O willing to push. But a tely east. For now, the party is looking relatively unified. We have time for just this one last message from Veronika in Detroit as far as the honeymoon period for the Biden administration. I think we need to be somewhat patient..

"Gigantic hedge funds and other financial institutions. And our winning Oh, no. In practice. This means that we are seeing one of the and here's the Here's the rub of it, folks. We're seeing one of the largest wealth transfers from the financial ruling class to the middle and upper middle class in recent memory, and it's Not been authorized. You see? It's just happening within the normal Evan flow of the market. Some normal ish people figured out how to earn a hell of a lot of money using The establishment's own. Nothing's against them. This is all about short squeezing and short selling. And if you don't know what those terms are hang on, because I will Splain. Those As the program and false But the key to this is the reason why this is a story. The reason why you're watching. You know what else is funny? Sturdily had to ask me Or you can explain because you've been watching cable news and you can't the people in charge of explaining it don't know what they're talking about, right? Because they only know the establishment view of finance. They only know the elite because they think themselves as elite. The financial people CNN, financial people, MSNBC, They're really woefully ill educated on this kind of stuff, so I I'm gonna test today. I tried to watch The info babes and a couple of cable networks explain this. They know what they're talking about their reading, whatever somebody's written form on the teleprompter, and they're using odd facial expressions to make it look like they know what they're talking about. But the key to this is What has happened. We are seeing one of the largest wealth transfers. From the financial ruling class. To the middle and upper classes in recent memory, and it's not authorized. Sometimes the upper class authorizes a transfer of wealth. With certain new policies. Certain new, uh, regulations. This is totally unauthorized. This came about because of the understanding of the system and how to game it. By normal people. Right here it is. In this story. Many normal people have made a huge bet against in their winning. And because this has been a massive transfer of wealth. It's understandably the only thing anybody's talking about because it's unauthorized, so Group of Reddit users who grew up playing video games from Gamestop. That's how That's how old they are. Decided to beat Wall Street at its own game. They got together, banded together to begin buying Gamestop stocks. That drove the price up. Other regular traders saw the price increased. They began buying and some real moment, um, was created. But now the hedge fund guys who sold short are losing their shirts. The hedge fund, guys, the elites. Had planned to sell game stop short. That means they are counting on game stop losing money. They only win it. Gamestop loses Will game stop. Stock Price $4 last summer. $20 at the end of the 2020. $40.2 weeks ago. It was worth $100 on Monday and Tuesday and today it's $300. The hedge funds are taking it in the shorts. I mean, big time they are they're being wiped out. To a certain ex, and they don't like it these normal people and figured out a way that they don't like it there, asking other hedge funds to bail them out and to stop trading. Like Facebook and Google, stop you from commenting. They're asking other APS that allow this kind of trading activity to stop it. They're using their power to ask normal people or to prevent normal people from trading. From short selling and then at me from from taking advantage of the fact that the elites are short selling in short, squeezing. So if you All right, Elite hedge fund and your position is That you are selling short on Gamestop and their stock prices gone from four bucks to 300. You are losing your shirt. You're losing your pants. You're losing your underwear. You're losing your scrotum. You're losing everything out there. So there is there is Ladies and gentlemen on AP Hold Robin Hood. And Robin Hood. Bills themselves as democratizing finance for all Securities By Robin Hood FINANCIAL Crypto by Robin Hood, crypto there outs and that's the after people are using to bring about this transfer of wealth. So The elites are leaning on Robin Hood. Like Google and so forth, leaned on other news organizations to censor conservatives. To wipe them out, did not give them before. Same thing. His head That's what's amazing to me about the story that the educational value it has the informative value it hands. It's not just your political opinions. And your political thoughts. That are under scrutiny. And R R R Essentially being censored. No, not now. It's the way that you invest your money. Oh, yeah. And I can't You know the Circumstance here. It's such a valuable teaching moment. So we will get it. There's a little bit more detailed to this that I will explain is the Program unfolds. Now the other regular traders and saw these price increases they began buying so real momentum was created. Now the hedge fund guys who sold short are losing their shorts and everything. The Reddit users where all this started the Reddit users Robin, it did nothing illegal. It's important to you. There is no matter what you hear on the news. They have done nothing illegal. They played the same game that hedge fund managers play every day to make a lot of rich people even richer. Get the markets are now shutting down trades. Like I just explained it is shutting down trades in game stop in order to protect the elites..

"Around this time, we were talking to state representative Slaughter about the criminal justice reform bill that is making its way through the state legislature. He's a sponsor in the house. He told me it's actually going to be coming out of the Senate. And after the conversation, we got a call from the Vernon Hills Police chief Patrick Crease who says he wants to present the other side. He joins us now, Chief. I'm so glad you called. Thank you very much. Thank you and appreciate having an opportunity to teach chat with you about this important matters. And so what is it? What are your issues with this bill? Let me just summarize myself. If I can. It would eliminate cash bail. We've talked about that it would unify deadly force standards across the state. Have some union bargaining restrictions and an end to qualify to union immunity for officers. Those were the highlights as I see them and what is it that you have issues with? I think in principle, there's probably ah lot to agree. In principle. The chief concern amongst myself and many chiefs I've spoken with is that Tuesday night 600 Page bill was dropped. And much of that language of the very first time that our association saw Gore that other law enforcement experts saw it. It took us a couple days just to read and understand, and, unfortunately really misses the mark in many ways and doesn't make the community safer. In fact, I believe it makes the community less state. In what way does it make it less safe? Well, you know, for, for instance, there are provisions in this bill that require with absolute um no exception. Certain things like a suspect to receive three phone calls with within an hour of being arrested, but it doesn't allow for any exception. So if we have two individuals breaking or home Commit a home invasion. We arrest one individual. The other one is clean, and we're pursuing them. We have to allow the suspect in custody to use a phone toe. Let that co conspirator know that Oh, by the way, have been arrested and I hid the gun under the red car or whatever else you want to say that there needs to be some exceptions. Current law Requires a reasonable number of phone calls within reasonable number time, and we believe that's met the vast majority of time. So if we need to address that, that's fine, but there needs to be some. Except that seems like a fix. That would be pretty easily done. Have you approached The representatives and senators about that. Yes. In fact, I know that there were a lot of conceptual conversations leading up to this and But unlike some other bills, like the licensing bill that I know the state of Illinois Long Illinois Chiefs of Police Association work with Attorney General Quantum Eva rule where there's been back and forth language. After repeated requests to see a draft language of this bill way, didn't see anything. Intel 600 pages were dropped. You know, Tuesday night, that's fair, but also in fairness, they have had very public hearings on these. Pieces of legislation right which I'm assuming you weighed in on It certainly any time given an opportunity, R R R Lobby's been able to speak, but I hope you can appreciate the devil's always in the details, for instance. I agree that there should be a standardized use of force policy across the state. Unfortunately, the language it's put been put into this army boss. Police reform bill doesn't include any input from law enforcement experts. And so it's trying to you know, chokeholds have been banned since 2015 Uh, this this bill is being presented that that's what it's going to do, But in fact they're already banned it. In fact, they were banned by most policies much before that, But in this in this case again, they're even taking out the exception of deadly force. So if someone is attacking an individual with a knife on the ground, a police officer in theory could use deadly force and could shoot that attacker, but they couldn't go up and grab the individual by the neck and pulled them off. That's the type of miss that I'm concerned with without a collaborative input of law enforcement experts and you know, and others to address the public's concern. I certainly understand there is concern among the public that we weigh need to improve and modernize. Police. What do you make of the eliminating the cash bail? You know, this really isn't a smudge is my area of expertise, But I think most chiefs would agree with me. Our number One concern is that suspects that are arrested and held are not allowed to re victimize the public. So that's I think the public safety concern is there. Um, again again. But chief, this would mean if you were If you committed the same two people committed the same crime. One lived on the dirt floor house and the other lived in a condo and bail was set for each equally. The condo dweller likely could post that bail. The dirt floor liver couldn't I mean it doesn't have to do as much with safety? As with money. I mean, unless that's the way I hear the argument. Sure, I've heard the same argument tonight. I think I'll have to leave that to others to really dive into the details of that. Hey, let me ask you a personal question, so I don't live too far from you, Um And do us a police department of Running Hills as a suburb. What are you doing about the restaurant closures? Are you enforcing that? Are you looking the other way or I mean, that's a sticky situation. How do you handle that? Sure, it's very, very sticky. We What we really do is lead by example. We employ all of our members of the public and businesses to abide by the current state of the governor's executive order. We reinforce that we help explain that to people and we deal with complaints on the case by case basis, But you're not knocking on doors to see if there are people in the restaurants. No, you've got better things to do. Of course, people are really struggling during these times on quite quite honestly, I think myself and other police departments are really focused on public safety during these times and really Really trying to keep, you know, keep us safe public and in an extraordinary time, And this is challenging for all of us earning Hills Police Chief Patrick Priest. Listen, I mean it. I'm glad you called. You've got her number next time. Give us a call again. Thank you. Take that. Good. Good luck. You're listening to Chicago's afternoon news here on 7 20 w g. Here's my explanation. First of all, I prefer Eminem's two skills. But Skittles require effort, right? What? They're difficult to chew, like crying out loud. And if you're on your deathbed, I'm assuming, you know, you know what Skittles are right? They're not difficult.
