"On. You're tearing both jerseys off. You're ready. Okay. Who do you take off the field for the Seahawks? And replaced with any other player in the NFL. I ask you now, Paul gone. Oh, Well, okay. I was wondering at first where we're going here sounded borderline serial killer asking. I know it's Halloween weekend, Okay? If I can swap with anybody. It's trey Flowers right now at cornerback because he has been a liability a cornerback, and that's the unfortunate part of this weekend. You're going to see Trey flowers out there is a starting quarterback. I'm going to swap him with what I think will be a very motivated Stefan Gilmore on the New England Patriots, who has put his house up for sale and seems to want out of town after getting some sort of raise already this year. Gilmore is the reigning NFL defensive player of the year and I feel like if they were, if they were the Seahawks able to bring another corner. Of that kind of caliber into the mix, man. It would look a lot better than they will with a banged up Quinton Dunbar and a tray flowers against this 40 Niners team that is also missing. Debo Samuel, who terrifies May.
"quinton" Discussed on All The Kings Men
"You know like It's go go way back when when Eric Lindros was coming out of junior. He had nothing to prove. Correct, right? He's 18 years of age. He's a man he can move on there's other guys and dry settle started in the NHL but then had to go back into Junior because yes, he was putting up points, but there was more to his game. There was more to the NHL than just scoring. God bless you for saying that because I constantly get in fights with people where they say the point of the game is to score goals and I was a notes the point of the game is to score more goals than your opponent off when when the kings were making their decision by field versus just how much contact did they have with you every every team will call, you know, if you're if you're in in the running to get a top pick in that player is on your team, they're going to call and ask for you know, all the information that you can give and give us a coach and a girl who they're comparing them to and it's difficult for me as a culture in the Ontario Hockey League to of compared Clinton to Sutro because I don't see suits on Monday night owl. I see Quinton everyday right know they're going to call they want their background information. And then it's up to you telling Rob Blake to make that final decision along with their head scalped. So yeah, you are in contact with them and then age, you know them give them for me the way I work is I give them the information all the information they want good the bad right? You're I'm selling player, but I'm not going to sell them something that he's not if Quinton does wind up playing another season in Sudbury. I don't know if you've got other guys, but I imagine you might have other guys drafted to other NHL teams. Is there ever any sort of extra pressure whether it's from the teams or just subconscious to make sure that these guys who have been drafted are, you know, getting the right I slime to help their career or being a huge case or highlighted. Is it difficult to juggle those responsibilities? It does come in there. So if Quentin comes back home He was last last year. He was the best player in our league. So now now we're coming back. He's a year older. I would you know, put some pressure on the on the organization and the staff in order to you better be taking a run at the Memorial Cup player. Like this doesn't come around very often, right. So now it's it's a lot of moving Parts but now, you know, we have two other month. We'd have three four other guys who are getting to a point when you go Clinton put you over the top. Final question and feel free not to answer it. Would you have taken Quinton Byfield with the first overall pick in this year's draft.
Fresh update on "quinton" discussed on Tolbert, Krueger and Brooks
"Indeed, Ryan joining us on the guest line here on the Tolbert, Kruger and Brooke Show, Tim, We always appreciated how you doing. I'm doing quite well. They're Rod Brooks. Are you guys doing doing fine doing fine. San Francisco 40 Niners to do it quite well, let's go back before we go forward to Sunday in Seattle. If you believe in Momenta MME can't get any better momentum than what we saw in Fox Borough that was a world class mauling on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Me. I was an ice bag game for sure. And the offensive line just absolutely dominated and throw the tight end and kettle on the fullback, you Ceku, possibly at his best game as ah, 40 Niner, block and run and catch it. Everything. So you know, the synchronicity is coming together in the run game with all the blockers and doesn't seem to matter who they plug in back there. Jeff Wilson was outstanding hand job. See if, uh, pulled seven calm. We can get back in the mix on Sunday on then I think the biggest thing right offensively was just not a name. You know real panic from Jimmy Garoppolo he was patient taking with the defense gave him They do a lot on defense that being New England, unlike Seattle, kind of lineup, stay here We are so Hey, hit the match ups and you know that that passing game is clearly and you know my opinion and watching last couple games in the last couple weeks of practice Startinto starting to find their stride as well. I have to keep convincing myself that this isn't the Seattle defense of Old. I just think of Seattle and I just can't always think of. Oh, man. Jimmy is going to be under pressure and this and that, but they're not getting a lot of pressure. They didn't get a finger on Cuyler Murray, the the Cardinal's rolled up 500 plus yards. What do you think, Kyle? You know, Arizona win at Quinton Dunbar with the tight end and they picked on quite a bit. I mean, give the target in 12 times to him. Do you think this is a big day for Kittle? Um, I don't. You know, I hope so. I mean, you look at what they do back in the secondary, and I believe Griffin's already been ruled out with concussion over it at one side. So Dunbar and Trey Flowers and Larry There's a lot of times where the corners you know, you just don't give him anything to their zone there, sitting in cover three. You don't give him anything to really Oldham over there or to affect him, and then you run. You know different routes with tight ends and receiver from the other side of the field that they've got to pick up and there was a couple of bus clearly in that game against against Arizona, but I think it's I think it's paramount. They attacked the numbers to the sidelines. In terms of you know you're getting that three deep a lot and you watch with Seattle does and they're lining up like really Like a lot of the last several teams. The 40 Niners played with that five man front and putting, putting KJ right as an edge setter upon the line of scrimmage, and they run a lot of three deep so You've got to be able to hit those perimeter shots, and they got the one last week. Tio Brandon I okin in New England and was a great catch over the over the shoulder probably could have been a better throw. But those types of plays when the 40 Niners start hitting those with all the stuff they do with Ian cuts and all the big completions over the middle of the field. But I, you know I'm with you. I think that's an area they got to go after. What were the 40 Niners contend with Tim if Jamal Adams doesn't play And if he does play Oh, boy. Um, well, I think you have to change the game plan a little bit. And I'm sure that the tiles ready for that guy is a legit player. I mean, we know we know how good he is. Remember him with the Jets know what Seattle gave up to get him. We know what that position does in this defense, Andhra member in Kam chancellor and all the things that That he was able to do so it's in the box physical nightmare, a guy that can set the rug in the run game guide. It's a terrific blood, sir. You know, I don't think he's played since we three and he may be right up there in tops and in terms of their sacks, and they don't have a lot of them. So amazingly playmaker, so things will change if if Jamal Adams is out there, so he's got two sacks the Seahawks only have if my memory serves me correctly. Nine. So yeah, he right is the leader If you want to call it that, But I mean, it's That's why they got him to help out in there. There. Ah passed. He fits him specifically to go and get the quarterback because Seattle's pass rush has been, you know, just a negative factor over these last couple. Of ah of years. So to me, he's gonna play, and Pete Carroll said earlier this week. You know that he's in the defense of meeting rooms, and he feels like this defense. You know, they've got to scheme to get pressure, so I don't think he's selling Wolf tickets here. The blitz is coming. I would expect that That's going to be no surprise to Kyle Shanahan and Jimmy Garoppolo. And with the Niners office a lot as you mentioned, playing as well as they are. Is that something that can for lack of a better way of putting it play into the Niners? Hands offensively? We know you have to do this to get pressure. We feel like we got the personnel to handle it. Whether Jamal Adam's plays or not, it's up to Jimmy Garoppolo to pull the trigger and make smart decisions. India well, and it's up to the to the offensive line to control the line of scrimmage and do what I've been doing Rod over the last couple of weeks so that they can be in the know the third in less than six and you know they could do that, And I think that's what you gotta do and look Tamal Adams's We talked about how good he is. You can be in the meeting rooms all you want. You were going to have to line up and play and you're gonna have to play for 60 minutes at the line of scrimmage, and that's just what I'm open This 40 Niner team. You guys know it looked at all their road games. Look at their wins. The blueprint is a great play complementary football and the mindset that we're just going to physically keep blocking You Azul long as we can. And as long as we stayed close on the scoreboard in terms of defense holding up early, so I had to me that's the biggest part of the game is You know, because you know, you see what Russell Wilson's doing early in games go out. They're holed up early and man OK, one's back and be a big shot in the arm for the defense in the nickel on playing against locket. He loves to play out of the slot and all the things that he does, but You know, just hold up early man. Keep it in front of you. And and I think it's the end of the day just watching Russell Wilson, who's playing at a at a level that's menial Eaton, and I think he's the M V. P. And I think most would agree on that hard to believe he's never had a MVP vote, you know, in his eight plus years and in pro football, but I think he might have to send some pressure on him. I mean, it seems like the longer he holds it in and watching the tape. The bigger the chance they're going to make a big play down the field with with locket or Metcalfe form or in one of those crest scrambling around or Russell running with his leg, so I think of course, I was going to mix it up on DH mixed in match, But I think the big key is holed up early and force and Russell Wilson to make a quick decision..

"Well Ryan the Rangers are expected to take Alexi last year with the first pick, the kings are up next. How likely is it that they take Quinton by field with a number two pick in the NHL draft it all depends on who you ask because it's either Quinton by Adler Mind Defenseman Tim. Studio. And so the thought is you wanNA defense when you want afford with Quinton by field I mean look if you put him in. Los Angeles hypothetically. You're starting with Andrzej Koper, tire, Quinton by field down the middle but then it's a matter of well, you need defensemen why not go out and get tim still as well. So it seems like there's a fifty fifty chance and L. A. Being a major market, a super diverse city what impact would a player like quitting by field have in that market? You know it's interesting because I mean there've been black players before. Carter's Klay Dare Wayne Simmons is played there but the difference is this like. It's one thing I think to get drafted or be there as a free agent, but it's another to be a lottery pick in a top three pick will miss case top to pick that. In some ways, it's a little hard to measure because in one way you're going to have people go. Wow. Okay. This is cool. I didn't know this existed, but it's also like we said earlier it's that challenge of you're competing for eyeballs and so like right now Quinton by getting drafted it's hard to see where that would rank in terms of headline in Los Angeles because right now, the Lakers were trying to win an NBA NBA title and then there's what's going on with the clippers. We're going to be resumed things soon, the dodgers are trying to compete for world series. So that's just the hard part and that's no insult to the kings. It's the way that market is set up. Let me slip number three, which sounds like it's a possibility. He would go to Ottawa what are your thoughts on him potentially landing with the senators? There's a lot there. There is a lot there and it starts with the on is component you look at the centers and between by Thomas Chabad Matthew Chuck. You've got this really interesting young nucleus in you're coming into a time at the NHL when you look at Colorado, you look at Vancouver like you're seeing these teams with young talent, the Rangers being. Another one where you're like, okay this looks like it could be something Colorado you could argue is the most proven of the group you just mentioned because if it's not for a fraction of their team getting injured going into game seven, maybe they dance to the Western Conference final and then at that point, it's anybody's guess as to who wins between the avalanche. In the Vegas Golden Knights when you look at all the things that have gone on with Ottawa to know that they could suddenly get into this conversation the next two or three or four years is one of the best teams in Canada but maybe being one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference it could be immense for them Orion you actually spoke. With a Haitian Canadian man named Ralph Batiste who spoke to you about what it would mean for his kids to see two guys like Anthony Clare and Quinton by field on the same team can you talk about the impact of having these two players on Ottawa potentially Ralph bed tease who son Nick is an H. L. Player oddly enough with the Belleville senators. Who He was saying that look a Haitian immigrant who raised to raise sons ever have been nice to have someone like Quinton by field around his kids are growing up because it would have given them more motivation to save. He can do it. Why can't I the in a place like auto isn't the most diverse but at the end of the day, it's It's all GonNa come back to one thing. It's all going to come back to how good he is and it's no different than anyone like if you're good people are going to care if you're not good, they're not. So if you're the NHL, you have to be secretly hoping that not only use Quinn by fueled, but he can be sort of one of. These. Marquee players that maybe hopefully you can market and it makes more people realize sit there and say, okay, there is someone out there that I can relate to and if you're a league like the NHL, you need to have more of these players of color not so much in general but you need to have more than be really good because that's really Going to affect your profit margin and you hate to look at it like that. But that's just the honest to goodness truth. Well, as we've mentioned, all of this adds up to a lot of pressure on a kid who is barely eighteen years old Ryan based on your conversations with Quinton does he seem well equipped to handle all of this pressure and expectations? Thing is his mindset seems like one that he understands everything that's there. So you ask them about what it means to be potentially the highest ever drafted black player. You said something one because again for him, he understands this is what it means to be part of community what it means to be a role model spirit good role models while ago off the ice you want kids to. Lead kids on by example what to do and everything. So that is be really special with kids looking. Whether, it's his mom and his dad what he's learned on his own whether it's Jeff Jackson and all the other people he has around and quitting by field seems like he's in the strongest position possible to really handle what comes of not only just what it means to have a potential star player in a market like Los Angeles in Ottawa Detroit but there's also the understanding of what this means from a cultural perspective i. Want to date stuffing. comic relief and you know excitement as I sat. On, hold on to anymore and you know that I also data celebrating. To get back to the gym, it goes back to the idea of just his overall mentality and mindset which is just been. Understand that. This is something much larger than you Ryan. "Better than they will with a banged up Quinton Dunbar and a tray flowers against this 40 Niners team that is also missing Devo Samuel, who terrifies May Wow. Is it that way? Does it bother you to be hitting Trey Flowers over the head with a frying pan metaphor? Does I like try flower? Yes. Why are you forcing me to hurt this person up? Alright. Stop compelling, may, uh, given to music, and we want a quick prediction and, ah I don't want to do this. Now I do it. You ready? All $500 to your favorite charity, If you guess the score right? Oh, wow. Okay. I like that. Um, I am going to guess that the Seahawks win this 1 35 31 story. Everyone is going to go down to the last minute. A zit always does. I feel like we're going to feel as if we have hot dog mustard all over our shirt for most of this game. Yeah, Seahawks defense is going to get bludgeoned a little bit, but I think when it comes down to it, it's Russell Wilson. Jimmy Garoppolo is going to outscore Russell.

"Also Ryan first of all, how good is Quinton, by field he's just kinda doubt at all. Ahead by field breaks to storm after a by field. Six foot four colossus all this athletic ability I feel touchy with vote, into Cortel. Ip. Begin definitely scared. Across brought up. There's a lot of things quitting by field can do. On Ryan you spoke with Clinton recently tell us a little bit about his personality genius easy going in good nature odd homework busy who watch law movies with dummy go wash movies watch hockey games are really just tried. So yes. In some ways, keys your typical teenage prospect where he plays any twenty and yes, he has using south on the game and. The. Other thing about him that really Kinda Sorta just stands out to you just it's the community aspect someone who gets it at an early age he was like you know when I was a kid I was at Saint Andrews College and I saw Steven Stamkos to the Tampa. Bay Lightning Stamkos will train every now and again and he has to. Speak with Sam Coast for like two minutes. They took a photo together and he said, you know that's what helped me realize why so important to take time for people like the two minutes you give them then they could have a lasting impact going four and so when he sees kids around his hometown of new market in they ask, Hey, take an. Where photo she stops does it because he understands why that's important like I looked up to a live hockey players and I was little I still do So to sign people look up to me, it would just be amazing. You know that means you're doing something right When he wants to do is he wants to kind of put it on himself to help lead the next generation of making sure that they can give back to those younger than them. Can you tell us about the bow ties now? No, not at all no. Not at all I've. Every single photo conscious wanted to switch dropping. Spillover, differing change out. So I want the votes I on. Pretty big apply around more thirty Bowtie. So you know there's law. Bow Ties or something that he's always had an affinity for his mom sent us photos that we're going to use for this story and one of them was like quitting like his first bow tie when he was must have been like eight or nine years older something and it's one of those things where like out of context you're like, what am I looking at work? With context showing okay this makes more sense. So Ryan Quinton is black. His father was born in Jamaica. The NHL has had black players. Great Ones Does the level of buzz around Quinton by feels feel different. What makes his experience? Arguably a little bit different is when Vander? Kane and especially Moore Jones came in it was this idea of could this be the black star that? Helps people of color really get more into this game because again when you think about it, like this golf has had Tiger Woods Formula One is had Lewis Hamilton tennis had Arthur ash the Gibson of now of quitting by field people expect him to be good. But since of the cultural significance, it might be something you think about but it's not maybe the first or Second thing in a sense of what he could mean to market like L. A. An odd or Detroit. If it gets to that point, San Jose, sharks forward of Andrew Kane has been really outspoken on issues of race and the NHL throughout his career and very much has been in the spotlight in these conversations recently renamed winning so many more athletes that don't look like me. Speaking out about this, the same amount of outrage that I have inside and using that to voice their opinion to voice their frustration because that's the only way it's going to change Ryan you spoke with a vendor cain recently, what did he have to say about? Clinton, by fields arrival in the NHL at this particular moment in time Quinn by fields coming to the league in a really interesting time where you have coded, you're having this conversation about race. It's time for guys like. Tom, Brady and Sidney crosby and and and those type of figures to speak up about what is right and and clearly in this case, what is unbelievable wrong he's at in some ways. It's a, it's a different because he went back to when he got drafted by the thrashers and he's like look at the city bag never been around that many black people in my life and he really saw it as an opportunity to try to help grow the game before they they moved to Winnipeg but the point of Andrew made with with Quinn by. Field. This he's like look it's hard enough being in seventeen eighteen year old who you get drafted and people think you're going to be one of the people if not the person that's the prime motive behind wine organisation turns it around. Then on top of that, you have to answer all these questions about race and trying to help the game and fix the game and he's like that's not fair to him, and so his whole thing has been I want Quinton by field to reach out to me to older players to let him know that. There for him but like we will answer these questions, he can worry about playing hockey and not more about these other sort of issues that again right now he's like is hard enough just trying to make gels a teenager like let him focus on that and so yeah, I mean Quinn by Villa's able to get a vander canes numbers so he has. That I mean it really meant a lot to him to hear that someone like evanger tailing you who he was, but has a vested interest in making sure that he's successful and when you talk to his parents, you know they asked him about Blm in the NHL and just this conversation on race they feel the League is trending in a good direction. For someone like Cain, he's kind of interesting spot because he seemed mislead go from a place where you can count the amount of flurries of color on one hand to novice sudden. It's a half a diversity. You have had these moments in the eastern Western conference bubbles work. Of United, together, you are seeing and more on other teams, but he wants it to get to the point where like I guess this is something to celebrate if quaint by your brakes isn't that Jones's record, he doesn't want all these questions solely fallen pointing by he wants him to have help and he tells us it entire community of hockey players who were willing to do that. "Investors are hoping for a better day today after losses across market yesterday, but it wasn't a typical selloff stocks drop but so did gold and oil are markets editor Quinton web explains why that matters. It was notable various asset classes sold off together. So not surprising no oil sold of two because if you take a gloomy view on the economic outlook, oil is likely to fall in price nights. Villette gold sold off to gold has been wising for most of the year, but it seems also, it doesn't necessarily this year always rise in other markets falling. This is nothing like I should say the panic of where all asset classes because they was selling off. In tandem investors just rushed to raise cash but in this case, gold seems to dipped a little bit alongside stokes. What's notable is we've seen this kind of broader shift in sentiment I think in the last few weeks. So other summer of kind of almost relentless rallies, we've had several weeks now where stocks sorta traded sideways down and this was a very bad start to this week. So it'd be interesting to see how US equities trade throughout the rest of the week. Today. We get Nike's earnings report also Fed Chair Jerome Powell and Treasury Secretary Steven. MNUCHIN. You can make your own company and sell it to stores. Are you. If you're a trader, Joe's though, make you wanting to. And this is from the Russian river and they've been at it since two thousand four, which gives them years of having. Contacts with the local vineyards and wineries. So they have good resources. Trader Joe's as you know. Price Advantages Basically they don't advertise they don't have to. have. A distributors go store to store trying to sell their wind getting the shelves. Everything's done a front. I think they pay for it upfront to I'm not always sure about every single deal. But I do know that that is what happens with these wines. Once they contract for it and they pay for an upfront, it's there's to sell or not sell. So that's what we have going here, and this is blocked from the Russian river valley. I think I've had many of those Russian river is a wonderful place for one. There's some high end wineries in there. But I normally get the Pinot Noir Chardonnay that's that's what they're most well known for though I know there are some wonderful producers making. Saab block in there and some really good vineyards and. Probably from somebody's really good vineyard I'm gonNA take a SIP. Kinda reminds me of New Zealand but not quite. Got Some both flavors. "quinton" Discussed on All The Kings Men
"Let's read a quote real quick from Cory Stillman coach of the Sudbury Wolves. He says, quote Quinton has a complete game. He can play in all situations. He's big. He's strong. He skates extremely well for a big guy. He makes plays he makes people around him better when he wants to, he can go win a game by himself. He hounds poxy creates turnovers by himself through his skating and how strong is now I'm going to focus in on four little words from that quote when he wants to. now I'll start with you Mike. We he's dealt with We know he's dealt with injury with the. Being into the spotlight. I'm a firm believer in. We'll beat skill is that when he wants to included in that quote because maybe he needs to get to a point where he wants to every night or is that just you know? Is that just a toss away modifier? Pasta Way modifier I don't think you know I think he's he's GonNa get to that point. Ari Scratch excuse. Me Already is at that point and he's GonNa get even better than that. How many big goals did he score this year for the sub rules I mean. For to take the lead to tie the game, he was always out there in big situations, I think stillman. He said was he nailed it right? I mean he played every situation that he played the power play played Penalty kill you played you know five on five he was dynamic. Let's. Just talk about when he wanted to you know I I don't think he meant anything by that. That's for sure course. I think that's you know I feel that he. He played one hundred percent every time you got on the ice. and. Everybody will actually tonight his wealth, right? Almost, the same thing. So but he's dynamic man. He's something else in I won't be surprised. Maybe number one you never know. Obviously. He's a kings fan. All. Right. Okay I guess that means we get left on your. You never know right away. There's going I mean, especially draft but this is a great a great. A great draw for the child is year. That's for sure lots of goto child tolerant probably angle top ten. So you'll get a good deal a good player up there. That's for sure. Yeah. No kidding and a quote from Quinton Field Brian I always want to be the first guy in the puck I'm never afraid of going into a battle I liked to play fast I. WANNA use my speed to win races and use my speed to set up my teammates. We've heard a ton especially out here in. L. About the changing landscape of the NHL moving away from slow plotting big guys that can hit you know to do quick fast little Haiti players. But of course, you see the Saint Louis Blues the, Washington Capitals Win using a combination of size and skill is a player like Quinton by field more or less valuable if the league does in fact, move to this smaller more skilled model that people are talking about because I mean apparently he is fast and skill he just has it in a huge frame. Yeah I would say hugely valuable for. Reclaiming their hands on on Quinton vizquel. He does have the you know as we mentioned a few times in this conversation, the ability to to just fly down the ice he's got the ability to have real soft hands as well. playmaking ability is is unreal and the anal say he goes to La goes to a different club whatever it might be. I. Feel like he has the diverse skill set to. Sit in almost anywhere and because he's not just a big four, you know maybe a little slower is fast he had strong on his feet. He's going to get stronger on his feet and he's going to develop even more skill set as well. I would see you taking big in his we're talking with you obviously via the L. A. Puzzle I think he would be a great piece of that puzzle. And you look at it look at the the prospects that the La Kings have in their pool right now. I mean. Look. Jacob, Bingham. One Akil Thomas There's another. If, if like I said if I don't know for sure if you know of course, if he goes if he goes to the LA. Kings. As, well, I mean. Man La Kings are really stocked up right now in draft in prospects. And if they if they drafted by Field Man Oh man. There's another one just added to your to your. Pool. In La Kings can be dominant for years to comment justice Again. He'll. I mentioned about his two game and you know what? If you ask them? You ask anybody he always gives credit to the coaching staff for especially of course, stillman former any chiller and he'll match not an TV interview says well. How much he's improved with that and I'll tell you if the kings get him what a pool you guys are I keep saying you guys I worked for you guys but I don't. But Anyway 'cause you know I, see the kings there anyway leading Yeah. No. But if the canes get up Quinta by field, what what a pool of prospects the king's half Awesome all want to thank both of you for joining me. Yeah. No problem. Jesse that you you keep safe up there in in California my man. We're doing we're doing all right in my room hundred by what happens outside these four walls but. Say we're safe here. Good man. It's good to hear I I got. I. Got One kid white child is while I got a boy beating boys vol with. Me and Brian always talk about parenting stuffed. In the beginning, all with Cova does tough to take outside obviously stuff like that. But now the parks are opening years slowly but surely. I, think I'm going to take him to the park not today because too hot. You're probably WANNA go home. You'll get too tired or something actually you won't get tired daddy will get tired. Anyway thanks for having me Jesse and I really appreciate it. Thank you all the best. Yet you well, I'm in northern Ontario. So it's we're already pretty secluded off the air but. I got three little ones and you know you just do whatever you stand to be safe and. Life is busy already with with hockey with a dual morning show here fulltime as well, and being a dad three is very busy but. Yeah. Be Safe where you are in the distant courage everybody to do what they need to do to stay safe. We'll do any if it does come to pass the Clinton by field is drafted by the La Kings but spends one more year in Sudbury. We expect to talk to both you gentlemen plenty in the days to come lease. Do Great I always up for it we're always up for..
"quinton" Discussed on All The Kings Men
"Versed around the NHL, entry draft isn't until October, but there's already been a ton of debate about who kings should select with the second overall pick. I'm not going to try and settle that debate but to bring some much needed perspective to it, I am going to seek out people that actually wants these kids night in and night out and see what they have to say about. So with that in mind we begin with Quinton by field. Joining me now play by play announcers. We have two of them from the Sudbury Wolves Brian Cooper how are you doing today? Brian Not Bad. How are you? I'm excellent thanks and Mike carefully these how're you doing today Mike doing great thanks Jesse Krasny. So the reason I wanNA talk to you guys is look as great as as guys like Scott Wheeler Corey Prin Sorry Chris Peters. Is it Scott Wheeler anyways too many too many of these guys now who who scout prospects living, but as great is all these guys are it is still my belief that you need to talk to somebody who sees these players night in night out game by game to really get a sense of what to expect It's very easy to sort of pull up some youtube videos watch them highlights or or drop. Into see one or two games a season but to get a real sense of the players you need to get somebody who covers the team frequently. Now Brian you cover mostly home games for suburb is that correct? That's right. I do. But I do a little bit of traveling actually used to travel with the wolves on a full-time basis for two seasons and then my wife and I we had built. And Showing A. So I do home games in a little bit row. And Mike this is your second season covering Sabrina on the road, correct yeah. This is my second season. Correct. So Brian, will start with you. Just. A real simple question how good is Quinton by field? While This from a complete set whenever I call a game, I always try to have a very neutral grounded broadcast. I like to call it like I. See it and that's you know obviously out by technically worked for the Sudbury Wolves. But if the wolves are not having a great night, I will call it like I see it and the same goes for individual players as well and watching Quinton by field for the last couple. Seasons has been an absolute treat there are. I've only I mean I think I've been doing play by play for mice fifth or sixth the can't even remember how many years I've been doing it for. But there are certain players who have this very distinct ability to control. The game and it is quite fascinating to watch I. Remember I'm not going to necessarily compare him to convict. David but I had a chance to see Connor mcdavid play when he played for the year yachters. A few years back now and I was just kind of example of seeing a player have the ability to control a game and we had a goaltender by the name of Kopech Lucan as well who had the ability to do this and by field? He has this very distinct ability as. Mike. Maybe you'll agree with me but. I would say. Control, the the level of play on the ice uses his strength, his speed, and just is hockey sense to really have a massive impact on the ice and it is absolutely fascinating to witness. Especially when you're doing play-by-play now it's unbelievable at Jimmy. We've been spoiled spoiled probably the last couple of years. Watching this guy play I need six, four, two, hundred, fourteen pounds right for seventeen year old seventeen year old kid it's like a man in a child's body, right? I mean, you look at it this way in his first year what he has hit sixty one points to sixty four games. Right He was rookie of the year two, thousand, eighteen, two, thousand, nineteen season right he came in you know I'll say it this way came into the league just pretty much an offensive machine coming out of minor minor made minor midget right and then he he learned the two way game and With his two gaming, learn to three and of course, Still Stop Cory. Stillman. Thorough mocks in his Stortini and he really upped his game to the next level I. Mean you just got bigger and stronger. I mean this season what you have I mean eighty two points in forty five games right and he was even injured for a little bit with a wrist injury. So I mean Brian you'll agree with me here probably I mean if If he was. Not Injured I think he might have been up there in maybe one or two in. Leading points for the L. Go. Yeah definitely. He was He was on face to do so and and like I said I mean, obviously his teammates were helpful in that as well. But when you look at his stats to I mean even The stats thirty, two goals fifty assists he was doing both some players it's Majority. What they do is just assists kind of sending up other players and Quinton. He sends this ability to kind of do it all he literally can do it all and the thing that gets me still so young, he's so young, and so it's really exciting to see men what is capable of in the next in the next year next two years Mike, you mentioned the injury I'm looking at his. Numbers in forty five games he scores eighty two points good for fourteenth overall in the League but I believe fifth overall in points per game at one point eight, two now Marco Rossi you know is by far the leader at two point one, four, three points per game. How important is it to look at that per game number when considering a player's impact in the H. L. Bob I mean. You. Look at it. This way with the one point eight to your state the points per game Mark Rossi I mean another dynamic player who's probably GONNA go top ten anti-china draft as well. Right Quinta by you're younger than these guys. You gotTa look at it. This way going into this draft class Most of these guys are pretty sure all of them. Except for maybe I think three I believe. Me I believe seventeen going into this or maybe eighteen. Anyway. So I look at it this way he's a year younger than everyone else. He's your younger than the friend yet right and one point eight, two points per game. The Guy was just dynamic on the ice I mean he could see he sees the whole. The whole rink right I mean and you can't underestimate is speed just dynamic glare. With. The speed as wall lot of a lot of teams. Under US under estimated speed and stuff like that. But I'll tell ya es quick really really quick glare and his toughness was getting better as well. Like a lot of a lot of people are saying now a lot of sculpture saying, well, you know his toughness is in there. I've seen him, Brian can probably with me on this one I've seen him lay out some guys. I saw this one hidden windsor where he laid out a guy into the bench and it was Mano a Mano. Looked at each other and who's just like, boo the on five on five right. So you cannot under estimate this guy's toughness in a you know what? He's just going to get better any like I said he just a man and a child's body. So I. I look at it that way let's talk about my favorite stat that I dug up. Looking over scouting reports in the one month period that by field went to the World Juniors Sudbury without him was outscored thirty two to nineteen. The rest of the season scored opponents two, hundred, forty, two, two, hundred, eight. I, mean obviously he's GonNa. BE A high draft pick in this year's draft. So I mean this is sort of an obvious question, but he is the team MVP. Correct. Ryan. I would say there's not a whole lot argument against that. That's for sure. I. D is definitely as I mentioned at the beginning impact player and You know Mike Ronaldo good point what it's confidence and how a lot of goat's said you know he's not he doesn't quite have his toughness up to par yet and I I still think there can be some improvement on that spirit s fear as well. But man the when you factor in his size again, his hockey sense is just it's It's unreal that his age.

Bring the virus in and then a few days later San Quinton barred visitors anyway, and it stayed covert free at least for a while, and the cold is. We were assuming if covy had got into San Quentin. It would be staff that brought it in because once volunteers like me. Me Stopped going in staff pretty much. The only people going from the outside in, but that's not what happened in May busloads of prisoners from California Institution for men where there were a bunch Kobe. Cases were transferred to San Quinn. It was meant to reduce crowding as see I M and slow down the outbreak there before long cases at San Quentin started to skyrocket Roussin, cellmate tested positive. Quinn there's nearly seven hundred other guys who did test positive, but have recovered together. That's more than half the population San. Quinn and the CDC are has confirmed ten indesit San Quentin caused by corona virus. The prison is on lockdown. Guys are in their sales twenty four hours a day every. Every three days they get out to use showers and phone, and we really helpless out here, but we're trying to do something. Your Hustle is partnering with the Prison University. Project and helping to raise funds to send care packages to every person inside San Quentin, and also to help feed the staff and nudge when I told New York about this on the phone, his requests was at more food at more food. They needed. Bro Like people need it. They're definitely it'll. Make sure it's fool. Definitely another one that's. All food. That the another one that's about to come through, so you say mainly food. And full man fool fool fool. Because of the lockdown. Guys aren't working right now, so they aren't getting that small bit of money that helps them buy food at canteen, and instead of going to the chow whole. They're getting food delivered to their sales in boxes. Soul instead of hot food is crackers, bread, chips Baloney and that type of shit all day, so other food is really important. Man What else what? What are you seeing me? Like. For me, I'm going through anxiety like I can't. I can't pay I work out my study all day every day on the bottom of my face. He's Cool I love him, but he needs to go from straight, so we need some. Time but I'm going to do that right now. the sad man. It's just like all the time to be in prison right now. Friend Steve Champion has been sick to. refers. Three days I had a headache to allow myself laying down. You know at school you know. What What a blanket on the floor and I find myself, laimbeer. And I'm sleeping all the way into breakfast and make today after sleeping it. Long time I'm still tired and I'm cold. I lost my sense of pace, but not my sense of smell and term flood of food to full game so absolutely horrible. I could eat. Just couldn't eat. You know. And so You know I'm just glad that you know. that. Yeah cut him off. Man All right well. That was Our good friend. Steve Champion has been on death row for. Like thirty seven thirty eight years. And he's still up there and right now with the Kobe. Watching people pass on. Out of times, you know I I'd be sitting here like who I'm glad I in in prison or more glad everything worked out in twenty eighteen. Governor Brown seems to release me goes. My brothers in there you know displaying the sentence so I knew I would have been there displaying them, and probably fell out so I'm I'm pretty glad that I'm not in that. Environment and I mean a totally different environment right now.

A ghost town below
"Promised today I'm doing a ghost town story, but not just any ghost town underground dome town in eighteen, eighty, nine, a fire raged through stuff, fledgling city of Seattle, raising much of the wood buildings in the business district. The blaze was widely attributed to a careless worker, heating, Gould or a gas fire, catching the furnishings from floor on fire in cabinetry shop, founded on the logging industry, most of the original city was built of wood and little survive. The flames destroyed thirty one blocks after the fire as the. The city of Seattle rebuilt itself to adjustments were made I. All buildings would be made of stone or brick and second. Street several feet above several new sidewalks were added street high, and the underground largely forgotten left opium, addicts, prostitutes, and gangsters under Pioneer Square are what at first appeared to be tunnels when actually they represent Seattle street level just after the 1889 fire for months while the city erected walls, city businesses produced ladder so that customers could climb over the wall to get to their business. Oil Demand Begins to Rebound To Pre-Coronavirus Levels
"Slow return of driving is helping the oil market and energy stocks marketer. Quinton web has more. So we're seeing is a dramatic recovery in all markets. You Go back a few weeks you know. There was a perfect storm effectively. We have this sudden global economics stock and then we had the technical factors which briefly pushed. Us oil futures below zero. That just really wasn't a place to store all this excess oil. It was accumulating. Oxford's where we are now things are easing a bit lockdowns a lifting. Us demand for gasoline is improving. And while we're not back to normal you know we have oil prices back in the thirty something dollar range and things are looking up in all kinds of ways you know like Chinese factories are getting back close to kind of full operation. Us motorists driving again. And we've also seen some capacity cuts which help kind of balance supply and
Sung Kang reveals the fight to make 'Better Luck Tomorrow'
"Sung king you know him as the street racers. Hans Solo. I love that Han Solo in the fast and furious movies. And you can argue that. Seng's portrayal of Han the impossibly cool mentor of Tokyo drift. A member of the core fast and furious family made the franchise the most surprising and successful blockbuster series in Hollywood history. I would definitely make the argument so we are very lucky to have the chance to speak with Song. Today on Asian enough. Thank you for being here with us forever me we want to start off by addressing the big news. Which is you are coming back to the fast and furious franchise for the upcoming fast and furious. Nine which is huge for those of us who obsessively watched these movies because we know than Han. Your character has been gone for a couple of movies and in fact has one of the most tremendous most unpredictable. Arc's I feel like in movie history in that you know Tokyo drift. Which was the third movie in. The fast and furious franchise is the one that you originated this character. And we'd love to hear from you. What has your relationship with Han. Been like over these years. It's a love hate relationship. The hate is a strong word for it. I think it's maybe love and difficult is what it is because I'll never dismiss what the fast and furious and with the Han characters done for my career and my family and opened the Hollywood doors the first time I you know Justin and I worked on festive fears like we would just literally walk around the production office and then go into his office and start like laughing. Because can all these chairs the free snapple into the free water right those little things that we really appreciate it. Because when we're shooting tomorrow we had nothing we had a fold out table with five sticks of. Wrigley's spearmint gum spread out and a box of cold intimate donuts breakfast. That was our craft service and better luck tomorrow. Of course was the two thousand two indie film about over achieving Asian American teens who flipped the Model Minority Myth on its head when they start doing crimes so better luck. Tomorrow was Justin. Lin's first solo feature recode to feature call shopping things with Quinton leave and there were still students at Ucla. And then I heard that this young filmmaker out of UCLA was making an Asian American film. But I had already worked on a couple of Asian of American films that never finished and it was kind of a fiasco and felt like yeah. It's great to be part of this movement but we're not going to be able to compete with because you can't even finish the movie and when I came back to La. I was so disenchanted anytime I heard about another Asian American filmmaker instantly said this is probably not a good idea. That was already probably a few like maybe five six years in right. I mean I've been already a journeyman into business. You know and the auditions that I would get are the roles that would be a waiter or Yakuza and I felt like maybe the timing was rights. And this idea of being an actor in Hollywood is not GonNa Happen. Right and then I got a couple of phone calls from some aspiring producer. Asian American producers. And they said Hey. There's this guy named Justin Lin. He's a ucla and he's doing this. Asian American film. You should take a look at the script and you should like audition for it now and then two more friends call and say hey. You should really take a look at the script so Justin I actually met at. Danny's on Wilshire and western Koreatown. We met to talk about the script right and talk about the role and stuff like that and at that time. I think Hon- was written as a Filipino character. That drove a hundred civic here like a shaved head. Wow he was really perpetuating kind of like this. You know southern Kelly J. JD M. car culture kind of thug. And I'm from Georgia so I don't identify with I'm into muscle and you know my role models were like James Dean. Paul Newman John Wayne. If you will right and so this thing did not resonate so when I sat down with just and I said Hey I can I addition for Ben. The main character for best. I better tomorrow and just in being the the the patient older brother if you will and he would make a great poker player because slow played it and he's like why not. Let's see so. I went at like three times to read for Ban and knowing the whole time. I'm way too old looking. I don't fit the VIBE and I said to myself if this dude cast me it's movies gonNA suck and compromise vision. So after the third edition called me and said. Hey Man it's not gonNa work out but I would still love free to play on. I was like this is a guy that I would go to paddle with one last shot. Because if it doesn't work out I probably have to go and find a real job and it was so challenging because we had the whole budget in place but then the investors had asked Justin to change all the rules to Caucasian and Justin being. Who is now not GONNA do it? And he started putting the equipment on his credit card but as soon as the credit card companies. No you're maxing it out. They basically linked to the other companies. And then they'll hold your credit card so we're screwed and then I had worked at this restaurant in Beverley hills this cream barbecue place called Hula okay. That is no longer and we shot for a day and then justice said the money's not coming in so we probably have to shut this down and I went to work and I was so depressed right and I'm a server. They're left of a smile. I was so bummed and this is where I feel like everything happens for a reason. Like I don't necessarily subscribe to all these myths and stuff as some Guardian Angel but if if there is such thing that night she showed up and by that you mean John Wong and her husband. Jeffrey go founders of the Cherry Sky Films Production Company. They had been coming into the restaurant for a couple years and there was the first time they saw me not smiling and that kind of goofing off and she said what's wrong way so sadness explain the situation and she said can. I take a look at the script as I have in my car. She goes Why don't you in the director come by the office? Like the talk we went in there spoke for about an hour and then she wrote us a fifty thousand dollar check. Wow there's something like so mythic about this whole story but isn't that the keep a fifty thousand not enough to finish this movie right and so then we're stock and just kind of freaking out and the only person he knows that really has money. Is this guy named Mc Hammer right and how does he know MC Hammer so justin used to work at the Japanese? American museum is to be editor for the downtown Japanese-american Museum and so he was in plans of shooting tomorrow. And at that time the cannon xl one three chip consumer camera was coming out. And if you guys are aware if your techies like big deal so that was the first option of going digital post to film and suggests that went down. I think there was a convention down there to look at the new cameras coming out and Hera was there so hammer's standing next to a kid. You know anything about this camera. And he kind of helps them out and he goes. So what do you WanNa do this well? One day I hope to be a director. They Kinda you know. Talk a little bit and hammered being who is gave him his phone number and said hey you ever need anything. Give call so fast forward. The money's not happening just freaking out the credit cards frozen. I think he had the the phone number like pin to his wall. For you know for Sake right is that what the hell he calls. Hammer Hammer picks up. What's up is okay. Do you remember me Zig. Know what do you want? Here's the situation he goes. Hey it's not hammer time anymore. I can't just be funding these things. But here's ten grand. Do what you gotta do but you know I don't I don't need it back but here it is so if you go and watch. Tokyo drift anytime. There's a Tokyo City. Scene is hammer

"Because you know I'm a Philip Rivers Fan and I've always been Philip Rivers Fan So he and the chargers injuries have basically mutually agreed that he's going to enter free agency and his time. Sixteen years in San Diego and Los Angeles are over. He he He started fourteen of those sixteen years. he is. This is not a debate. You can debate me. He's a lock hall of Famer. Can I don't know if it's a first ballot. Second the second he's going to be in the hall of fame he is sixth all time in. NFL history in passing yards. He's sixth all-time in touchdown passes in fourteen seasons as a starter. They went to the playoffs six times they got to the AFC championship game once in two thousand thousands seven when he played on a torn ACL. You know against the Patriots in Foxborough Dino. Dan fouts sunny Juergen. Warren Moon. Those are the cops. Were Philip Rivers. birther all in the hall of fame incredible quarterbacks when you watched him you knew you know he didn't win in the postseason he didn't get to the postseason enough he didn't go to a super super bowl. He didn't win a super bowl. Nor did those guys same Kinda guy. I think actually better than some of those guys. I don't know about Sonny Bill Belichick and I'm paraphrasing using this because I looked for the quote and I couldn't find it but I remember referring to this Several years ago and I've referred to it in the past as well. It was during one of those pro bowls and he basically Said said he was asked about rivers and he said it's Tom is in Brady. Payton is in Manning and Philip rivers. Those are the three guys right. No quarterbacks control a game at the line of scrimmage more than they do and perhaps ever have in the era since it's coaches started to call place and design offenses And just said one of the brilliant quarterbacks in quarterback minds of our era. He's GonNa be in the hall of fame like I. People were were tweeting. Me saying there's your boy there might not even be a place for them. You know you're going to argue is in the hall famous not hall of Famer. He's never won a super bowl. Trust me I would bet any amount of money with anybody that Philip rivers will be in the hall of fame now. Where's is it GONNA go? I saw this year a compromised Philip rivers physically when I watched the chargers. I don't think he's got the same same arm strength that he used to have their couple games in particular. Aaron remember that Mexico City Monday night game yeah and he was throwing ducks in that game. Not necessarily pressured and And it was a tough field that night the whole thing I think I saw him take a major step back physically this year in arm strengthen in ability I that's what I saw watching him now. If other team see that you know there may not be a robust market for them. I I st- I do think somebody's GonNa sign him. Somebody's going to say. Can we get this guy with this team. You know like a Tampa you know if if they move on from Winston instant which it appears as if they're going to do really good coaching staff really good talent offensively and can we get one. Philip rivers year out of him because if we do we could make a run next year. You know what a Tampa finish eight. Yeah Yeah we could go eight ten six eleven and five and being the postseason and have a chance And by the way they're gonNA have to pay for that like he's not signing an incentive laden deal only. He's GonNa get a lot of guaranteed money for at least a year. Maybe two but I do the I mean. The conversations are separate the hall of fame conversation with what's next the what's next. I do agree with some of you. who say there may not be a huge market for him and I think that the reason for that is not the age? It's the physical condition. He looked like a quarterback this year to me when I watched him he did. Aaron would you want them on Tampa your bucks fan. Yeah I would take him. I wouldn't be Gung Ho about it but I wouldn't be displeased if he ended up there. I mean I'd like to see him personally as a fan of him on a team with talent you know that that can we not. I hope he retires. Like if there isn't a team set up for him to come up come in takeover Like what are the other examples of the of the teams that are the bucks are the favourite Indianapolis the second favor those who the two those would be the to now be unless Brady leaves New England you I know Imagine Brady leaves New England and Belichick says we'll find I'll go get rivers when it next year if you want the odds Tampa Bay plus one MM Fifty Indianapolis Plus Two seventy five Carolina and Las Vegas both plus five hundred Miami plus six hundred you know the raiders would be interesting Carolina WanNa wouldn't be that the Carolina has some talent on that team. Yeah and that's where he's from even though he moved his family to Florida. I think I bet he ends up in Tampa. I bet he ED's Tampa. I'm one last thing before we leave so was off for several days. Maryland Played Illinois Friday night in. What was a really good college basketball game now? I did not. I watched the first half and had to go to the personal and it was tough because that first half half that ended forty. Two forty was a high level college basketball game. I I got a chance to see the second half when I got home and I first of all that. That was a really big win. For Mark Turgeon in Maryland. They're sixteen and a half point favorites tonight to beat Nebraska and they potentially with a win tonight given the other Games teams that are going on in the big ten could have a two game lead in actually based on the point spreads you know produce favored tonight over Penn State and Michigan State's favourite. It'll annoy there's a chance Maryland. Winston is sixteen and a half point favorite. They should win over Nebraska and their two games clear in the big ten race It was really good basketball game. I was really really happy for mark. Scott was there Van Pelt told me it's the best environment and the one of the loudest crowd environments. He's Ben and you could see an Aaron. I'm sure you're following it. All Day. The students were lined up hours in advance. The biggest home game Illinois's had ten years twelve. Yes And they were agenda up and he took a fourteen point. Lead in the first half and Maryland came back and they won the game. Cowan was terrific and I- Allah finally knocked down a couple of shots. But here's what I wanted to say to all of the Maryland basketball fans that listen. Sometimes you know criticize me. Aaron does it sometimes actually for being a little bit too supportive of of of Even though I've criticized various parts of of of various games I've been frustrated with a lot of things but you know the fans that really got after after him after they lost to Iowa and Wisconsin and were convinced that the world was ending and that it was. Now time for Turgid Elif. We know that from a month ago one month ago it is the same people that say you know I've said the same thing Y- I wanNA team that's ranked tie. I WANNA team that seated high. I WANNA team. That's got pros. Hose on it. I want a team. That's contending for league title on a team that's contending for you know deep into March run. Well that's what you have right now. That's this team right now. Okay there in first place in the best league in the country. They're ranked high. They've got pros on their team. They're going to be seated high more likely than not and they're going to be one of those teams that are going to be among the team's picked to get to the final four. There's going to be a group of ten twelve teams and they're going to be one of them. That's going to be talked about as a final four team. So you know. And I mentioned this after the Wisconsin game that they played well against Wisconsin. I hated the inbounds. Pass the blue and at the end but they had played well and they continue to play. Well you know and now all of a sudden winning games on the road and is this. Was this true the other night that it's the first top twenty road win for for urgent. It wouldn't surprise me last year was the first by the first twenty four so the APP sounds right and they're good basketball team and I saw the silent. They looked really good in that game and turgeon and he's maneuvering in game. You know going to that zone and I was sitting there watching that first. Fm like he's got his own cannot stay in front of Anybody Illinois getting to the rim with these he's gotta go zone and it was two possessions later they're in the zone and it totally disrupted Illinois's rhythm totally. The their coach talked about it after the game that they they got out of rhythm. It changed the game He showed multiple zones. He showed their three to that. They've played more than any other zone. He also went to a possession or two of a one three one Impressive to go into that environment you know. Oh you know a week after basically a week and a half after they had gone into another very hostile environment in Bloomington Indiana where the hadn't won as a big ten team And to win that game you know puts them in position for the rest of the way to be what you think. They should be more times than not. That's what they are right now. They're everything anything you didn't think they were a month ago and the other thing about this. Errand is all the people in you know. These people too they're fixated on recruiting will who what about next year. Who was he signed? Who Cares about next year right now? Enjoy the moment people like enjoy it. This is a really good team by the way they're GONNA lose a couple more games. Okay Hey let me give you fair warning. They'RE GONNA lose a game or two and you're going to be really pissed off about why they lose it but this is a team right now built to go deep keep deep. Maybe they don't but I'm going to enjoy that you know many big games they have left. They have Michigan State Saturday in East Lansing at present center. They've got another game. They Ah Michigan State at home. which looks like Erin it's setting up for an ESPN Game Day gain? That's what I was just about to ask. I think that's that's what they're holding off the time on because I think it's going to be the game day location on the they close with Michigan. One problem with that though game days doing Michigan State Maryland. This weekend right are they. I think I think that's the case. Why because it is the six o'clock start the Game Day thing I just I just pulled it up because I was looking at the now? It looks like they've announced East Lansing okay. So they're gonNA be. They might be in college park to that would be very possible. So they've got. I know that they've been holding back that time because of the possibility that was going to be in the prime spot not only because it is an ESPN game. Yes on the twenty ninth. So they play Michigan State this Saturday and then two weeks from now got these big ten games or great They still play a Michigan at home. Ohio state on the Road Minnesota on the road. They have a rough game against rutgers on the road they got you know you're living live. In the moment man. They got big games. Not Big Games in the big ten big games on a national scale like they used to have. Ac you know so. Tonight's a really really good night in the big ten. I mean. Penn State at Purdue Purdue bean a four and a half point favorite over thirteenth ranked team in the country that reeks. Did you see purdue hang sixty one points the other night in the first half on Iowa. Oh yeah that's what. They scorn the big ten in a full game. And they'd sixty one and a half time. He's one of my favorite coaches always has been met painter. But Tonight Penn State Purdue Nebraska Maryland and Michigan State at Illinois in Illinois now Michigan State's lost. It's three in a row errand something like that. They're out of the top twenty five and Illinois's loss tune Roy. Think I don't think Michigan state I think Maryland's GonNa beat Michigan State. At least once I'd say at least once I don't know about this weekend but at home they'll be favored. Wouldn't shock me if they were favored by five or six. Do you have anything. I got. Nothing All right thanks. Everybody glad to be back enjoyed the show back tomorrow..

"It's not the way to do it now. He was able to overcome it. Kevin some won't be able to Kevin isn't entirely possible that behind enclosed doors. The coaching staff felt they had very little power. When it came to influencing this kid and the only we power they felt they had like j grew than his first year here? What he did Arjun rate was to speak out public? I understand on the record I it said. Tell the GEL. The answer's Yes. Okay doesn't make it right. It doesn't make a write in made away with Jay Grill and it's a symbol. It's a symptom of the dysfunction function of the organization. If coaches feel the only control they have is to criticize publicly right. That's a problem yeah. It's a big problem but I understand why they would doing. Here's the other thing too and a friend of Mine Kevin Texas to me earlier. This is the only friend you have apparently because it's the second one you mentioned one of very few. I Haven't club we actually at all. The cat is out the first part because we too early. So you're you're you heard me mention him the first time but those listening to the podcast. I don't think of mentioned behind the scene so he texted me this morning. He said we Doug Williams to keep his unfiltered often long winded communications before media to cease. I should show up for the meetings before the podcast. You never did radio. Yes showed up right when the show started. Greenberg Greenberg is insufferable. But every time Doug speaks there is a mess to clean up which isn't totally true but it has been true. Yes it has. There's there's one voice in it should be Rivera's nipping. This in the bud will help the needy culture change just my opinion and when I read this this morning I was like you know what. Why is Doug talking about Twain Haskins? Nobody should be talking about Dwayne Haskins. Except for Ron Rivera he should be the guy. That's talking about Dwayne askins. Now teammates get asked about and that's a different thing but the organization what happened to coach centric one voice where a month and a half inning Doug Williams is doing in press conferences and do an interview about the quarterback which by the way created the opportunity for a national broadcaster on a national show. Terrip the team like just. Let's get something here where we got one person controlling the message. You know by by the way somebody who do you know that's not gonNA happen. I'm not saying it's not gonNA passing. It should either. It's very. It's very possible that Doug was doing this. This is well to make sure that he holds on to his little slice. A of of power. Whatever it is that he may have at redskins skins part? I don't think Doug Williams has much power redskin per whatever I said. It was a little slice. I know you did. I'm just wondering has a certain level power. Because he is Doug Doug what he is Doug Williams and you know what because he's Doug Williams he's still there okay because if I if he weren't Doug Williams you and I both know and most of you listening. No he wouldn't be there. I know that but but because he has that speaking publicly is probably the only the only power and influence okay. But if he's going to be there because he's Doug Doug Williams and you're going to have coached centric you know operation I think the coach Doug Williams shut up. Yeah okay if it's if I'm brought in and I'm trying to create a culture change and I'm not suggesting that Doug will be bad for culture in fact I think he should be utilized more than he's been unutilized he should be a great mentor for a lot of these young players specifically a young quarterback you know but remember when Haskins askins has been asked. It's been Alex Smith. Yes you know And you get to a point. Perhaps where a younger twenty year old twenty one year old can't relate to Doug Williams and maybe there isn't isn't really an opportunity to mentor but doug is a good person and a valuable resource whether or not. It's used properly at my senses. This is in the past. It really hasn't been Doug Williams has not been a significant voice in the way his title would lead you to believe he was this in personnel. You know but In it's a whole other conversation I mean to go in this direction. But you know he is Doug Williams which is why he still there. I don't know if that's the the right thing to do. Like I think if Ron Rivera said I love you dug your legend. You're an organizational legend in the same way that Joe thighs men and and Sunny Jorgensen insane in other great quarterback smart Mark Ripping etc But I don't have a spot for you in the organization. People you gotTA figure out a way to keep Doug Williams y you just do why. Because it's it's smart business. Why what is it? What is causing warrant there today? How would it impact actor business? Well no if Doug Williams was dismissed how would it impact their business. And then then you'd have a redskins fan base that be even more disgusted eh angrier with the word I just I disagree with you. I think there was a point where that would have been true. I don't think it's just fine to play. He he he's an icon and you don't dismiss them. I'm glad that there's a place for Doug Williams I like Doug Williams but if there weren't a place for Doug Williams a smartly fines if they got rid of Douglas. I wouldn't help okay we can. We can agree to disagree. I think that a few years ago it probably would have been more impactful than it would be no Anyway whatever Twain Haskins take the advice of Doug Williams there were he talked about. It's the same thing that gibbs pretty much said to me last week when he was on the radio show with me When his comments about Dwayne got a lot of attention because it wasn't a full on endorsement of Dwayne you heard him right by You know an essentially said the same thing that Rivera said it. It's not about you know so the physical it's about the leadership and the leadership is acquire not necessarily vocally but with incredible knowledge. You know and Doug said it. He's got to be first in last. Leave he's gotTa know that playbook better than anybody. When Terry maclaurin or Adrian Peterson or Trent Williams? uh-huh have a question about the game plan. It's Twain Haskins it steps up and answers the question. He knows it better than the offensive coordinator knows it. It's that kind of commitment that is going to be required for him to all the sudden bi a guided Ron Rivera and Scott Turner. Say Oh yeah. He's committed. He's taking over that what they called leadership mantle. That's when when when when I'd Gibson and I put that together with the rare stuff that's what they're looking for and they don't know that yet they don't know they haven't been with them long enough they see the physical. I get that and you know. Maybe I'm out of line here but It's a little bit disturbing that you that you. You didn't have a kid a kid but a kid who was the starting quarterback at Ohio state walk in the door with those qualities already. I won in last one. The leaf learn everything you possibly can and a little bit troublesome that those qualities weren't there from day. Well I don't know that you can say that those qualities weren't there you can say that maybe he didn't use those qualities that he didn't show those qualities he didn't reveal those qualities. Perhaps because it was a very dysfunctional situation. I've never seen you bend over as far as well. That was unbelievable. I mean I you know. I heard he wasn't the first in the last out early on just like you didn't just like it was sort of leaked out okay. But at the same time he was dealing in your right he should have been the first one in your lonely and I think as the the season went on he became that guy. Yes I know that okay. I get that you don't but he had to be told that's a little bit troublesome to be told told that there was one more day left in a game get out there and take the knee he's over there taking selfies anyway All right. Let's let's get to. Let's get the real football. Okay go ahead come on. Let's get the real fun I got some. I got some stuff for you on this but go ahead. You were there Saturday. I see their Sabe you. It was interesting it was it was a very Aaron. was there to variance For a lot of reasons first of all let me make it clear that I haven't changed my position I don't think the XFL is is going succeed long term. I don't think any any league other than the. NFL is going to succeed. LONG-TERM I wish it did in the sense that I I'd like new operations but Again starting a football league in this atmosphere in this day and age I think is a foolhardy hardy. I think it's Vince McMahon's white whale. That said the live experience of gave day Saturday was so oh compelling on so many levels first of all to watch the crowds pour out of the Navy Yard Metro and walked down to. The stadium was sort of like say. Wow this is how it could be if there was a team. If there was a stadium in the district for the redskins like it used to be right but it was kind of I opening in that You know I mean people just just marching down hordes of people people marching through the streets to go see this team play. It was pretty. It was pretty amazing. And I'm sure if you're dance ninety. Ah You were aware of that. You're thinking like hit. I have that. Why can't I have those people pouring out of Metro? Stop to come see my team play. The other thing was. I can't emphasize this enough because I wasn't the only one less carpenter for the Washington Post basically wrote the same thing. Everybody was in a such a good mood to be there on Saturday. I mean there was such a positive five in that stadium in part because of what it wasn't as much as what it was and what it wasn't was ghost town. Field Holt surrounded by opposing fans with with a T.. Let their own fan that your fans hate it really. What now? The word Lord Redskins fans at the stadium okay. This was a mixture of millennials. Lots of families a lot of young fathers and sons and actually a lot of kids because tickets were chief. I think the cheapest ticket was twenty dollars. Although that's still bore expensive than some redskins tickets were the second book yes you can put so. It was not necessarily a crowd of Redskins fan you would see at Goes Tau field. It was a different kind of crowd. It was a district strict crowd..

"Two Winter Olympics right. Although I was only at at the ski competition for one day usually I just like to stay close to the base. Yeah that's your move for Olympics. You're in a hotel. You're probably in a bar with your laptop open now following the events in coming up with some sort of angle on something that you didn't have to be live at an event for let. Oh you did. Sydney Salt Lake City is not sitting. No it's not a party town no it is not It's it's park city deer valley for those of you who haven't been there. Some of you probably have. It is one of those beautiful places you know it's just spectacular the scenery and And it was it was a beautiful wedding two But I I enjoy being in those ski places. The skiing isn't my top priority. Like it is for for some people I like the other aspects. I like opera ski as much as skiing itself but it was but we had a good time. We didn't really good to be with family and every everybody had a good time. Could you ever see yourself living out west. Well I almost lived in two places out West I many years ago almost moved to Seattle very close in nineteen ninety two moving to Seattle company that I was with was is basically going to relocate to Seattle. We were within a month of doing it but then long story short the CEO's wife got pregnant it was gonna be they they wanted th- it wasn't going to be the smoothest of pregnancies apparently and they wanted to stay here with their doctor set and that changed the whole plan. Okay but we were really close. Listen moving to Seattle and sort of close to moving to San Francisco. At one point I would have loved to have lived in the bay area. I've always loved the bay area. I know it's not the same as it used to be for a lot of reasons and then I think I've told you this but I didn't live in Boston but I commuted to Boston up and back Monday up Monday back Friday. Hi Dave for like twenty months and we almost moved there too. You Know Boston's not out west. You do I've you know that. Okay so try try. Try Try to stick with the topic. Yeah those were the two things I would have been thrilled to have lived in either one of those two places. What I was getting out of college I was a senior in college and I I already worked been working at a weekly newspaper in Strasbourg for about a year and When the editor went on vacation I actually ran the paper so There he was a friend with a weekly newspaper editor in crested butte Colorado. A real big ski town. I mean it next to Gunnison Edison Colorado one or two cold places in the United Rights and this editor wanted to take a leave of absence and He hired he was gonna a hire me to run the paper for a year so the we was about to get married. I was we were going to get married in June but we had to leave January to go out to do this so we moved up our wedding the January. I was leaving school semester early outs. I was leaving like twelve credits short and I was going to go live and Krista Colorado and run this white paper for a year and then a month before all this happened. He sold the paper so it it all ended it it. It didn't happen And ten years later Driving across the country I stopped in crested butte and spent the night there and had a great time and drinking at the wooden nickel bar my life would have been tremendously different in a town. Like crested butte. Oh yeah yeah I mean it was. It was a town full of skiers and burnt out. roadies that was pretty much what it was and even the skiers are burnt out certain degree as well Yeah I mean I'm not I'm not a West guy though I'm an east guy. I think I think both of us are sort of east coast. Yeah people I and I. I'm so glad that I still live in these coasts. But I you know you know it's funny time so Friday morning you know being on the clock that I'm on I was up super early. Utah time you're like really like it was two thirty three. I was wide awake. Not being able to move and so at about five I I just got in the car and started driving around. It was snowing pretty hard and I like going out when it's snowing. You know and and you know I was struck by just the lack of anything being opened you know like the coffee joints weren't even opening until seven am now there was a starbucks. It was opening at at six. Am but I had to literally wait to get coffee. There wasn't even a gas station so there are eleven opened nothing and oh I do remember sort of this. I'm probably wrong about this but that'd be a mormon. There's luck there's just less no now the work ethic you know in the employment rate eight and Salt Lake City's phenomenal and the work in the service industries. Incredible like when I because I had a client in Salt Lake City. I was out there many times in the mid nineties. These Harman's supermarkets they're smaller chains. Smith's was the big chain. Albertsons was out there. We had a contract with Harman's and they're very well known in Salt Lake City so I was out there a lot and I mean I rate work ethic the whole thing but it just starts later. I think this was a Friday morning and yeah there was a lot of snow but it wasn't clear whether they're professional less snow. removers Dallas Dell. It's not like Dallas at all Paul and I and I'm thinking to myself got around here like you know if you need coffee at any time of day you can go find coffee to wait until six. Am to get coffee coffee. So I hop open nothing. When I was down in Park City I drove further down towards the an area that had a big shopping mall? It was just look. They're they're more type as on the east coast than on the West Out West. Probably I guess I guess they must go to bed early. It's gorgeous gorgeous out. There and I did go through the Olympic Park area. which was you know Down now I have a question for you. Where was the Olympic Village? It was in Salt Lake City. I thought it was because the Olympic Park where the Bob sled and the lose the site jumping in a lot of those things was not actually in Deer Valley. It was just below park city this this huge area and I didn't see anything that resembled what could have been an Olympic Village. It was Salt Lake City that you enjoy those Olympics. My least favorite Olympic. Was it really cold. Well it was. It was cold but it was salt. Lake City Yeah. I've been I've been the Japan. I've been Australia you know. Salt Lake City didn't hold on or for me and the one thing I remember remember about it. One thing that Mitt Romney saved those elected we did because because of all the corruption they were on the verge of collapsing and the other thing I remember is the mayor going on TV pleading with residents to come downtown to eat at restaurants because they were empty. See this is what secrets I know you've read about this. More people leave a city when the Olympics are there that come in and businesses always take a beating and the restaurants down there that had hired extra help on on the promise that they were going to. You know be counting their money Johnny. Yeah we're we're we're getting killed. That's what happens in the Olympics when you host them right All right enough about that. You're at the cavs game last night. Yes I was. So so. What's wrong with them? Is it goaltending or is it defense or cannot go because they had two different goals I know they did and they had the same outcome and hope he actually played well Edmon on however you pronounce it. It's ironic you know. Hope shut them out and he should get credit for shutout even though he's only in half a game if he did did then he would have the new franchise record for shutouts among goal. He's right now. He's tied with alway coals for career. shutouts so but that's not the way they they score it but it's not the marked people are talking about goals that one seven hundred goals. What was interesting I want I was I was as with Barry Trots at his post game press conference and you can tell he was enjoying all of it not just the fact that they won but the fact that nothing against lovie but the fact that everybody in the building seemed obsessed with this milestone and they didn't get their throats trout's has seen the milestone caps before see this used to be the capitals they used to celebrate milestones? lovie got to this number backstrom got to this number. They'd have a big ceremony before the game and then they would lose in the first round of the playoffs you know but those that was the milestone caps and and these are supposed to be the Stanley Cup Cox you know. They left that behind and they've made a big deal about lovie getting the seven hundred. I certainly understand that. I think what there's only five or six other players who have gotten to seven hundredth seven others right seven others. Okay so I understand outstanding big deal about it but it's starkly reminiscent of the caps before they won the Stanley Cup Placing so much importance. Let's on on these individual milestones So I I think of and others when he gets a Gartner's ahead of him in seventh place with seven one hundred and eight goals. Yeah so he should probably pass him. So I think trots kind of enjoyed the whole scene the fact that they won and the fact that They denied the cap their milestone night. Even though he's he loves lovie and you know he said he's right you know over you'll get it and he actually trots predicted and it's nothing. It doesn't doesn't cost them anything to do this. He predicted that he'll break Gretzky's record someday. Well there's no doubt I mean we've done the math on this if he stays healthy and has average years for him in the next two. He's GonNa Break Gordie Howe he's GonNa Pass Gordy Howe for second he needs four solid ovechkin link. Years is to really chase down Gretzky. That's going to be harder. But he's got a chance to do it. Yes certainly but if he stays healthy how gort number two is almost a lock. Yeah for Ovechkin. Now they thought he had six hundred ninety nine last night. I know and then in the game and it turns out you basically use funny scene in the press box because some people tweeted it out right away but then other people realize that it hadn't been official yet who scored the goal So other people held off. Find it so everybody was screaming and yelling at each other. Kobe Bryant reporting situation. Well it wasn't quite like that but people were yelling at each other was it. ooh scored it. What was the goal of sitting next to? AP and they're frantic because they're the ones that have to get it out quick and right away they don't know what to say right because it took a warrior.

"And there but it was. Did you ski so my boys did I. The one day that we could ski with Sunday And I woke up not feeling like myself after the Saturday night wedding. Okay and I just I plus I would have had to rent all the equipment and get all the gear and I was just like you know I think 'cause Carroll wasn't GonNa ski whatever you're doing I'll just hang out with you today. Let's go for a ride. Let's we went to Olympic Park. That day okay. You know we did some. We did various things but the boy skied on On on that you do ski right. Yes I but but we're not a big skiing family. Like I have a lot of friends who you know. Every year they're going out to Colorado or a UTAH. We're we're not that we've always been a family that if we go away you know when the kids were young for spring break or something. We're going somewhere warm. Warm warm is usually better for the she and let me ask you this if you had to take a guess skier or not. You're not a skier now. Not a skier. No but you would enjoy. I don't like you don't love cold weather but you know a lot of the skiing vacation is sort of the lodge. All I know you know I do know that and I know what you were because I was out there for two. Two thousand two Winter Olympics right. Although I was only at at the ski competition for one day usually I just like to stay close to the base. Yeah that's your move for Olympics. You're in a hotel. You're probably in a bar with your laptop open now following the events in coming up with.

"And then people just like hated Hillary and went to vote for the non Hillary candidate. And you saw that in Kentucky and West Virginia of some states were white voters who then have not at all tha that Sanders in his mind because he won this big coalition before most of that coalition must be ready to turn out again. So it's kind of academic whether he's. Changing the debate or not. And even when when I put you on this last name was I think three weeks ago, and you said to him you would be running in a race not against the candidate of Quinton them. And the establishment, but against several people who co-sponsored all your legislation and the sense. I got him was that he is so much for for reaching inconsistent on left wing ideas that he he's in this to win. But if he's not in it how much people get away counterfeiting his ideas who don't plan to implement them. I think that was a real world for him certainly a lot of his supporters. And that's why if you turn on Twitter, and I don't know why you do that. Because horrible if you turn on. The most anger from Sanders. Odors is often directly hit Kamala Harris or delivered or somebody. They see like a phone trying to get on his ideas. There's a lot of faith that they would debate them honestly between themselves. I think from the Sanders camp. So he definitely agrees with that. That's interesting though, because it almost seems as though it's like looking for the same rationale, right? That that okay. In two thousand sixteen. There was a an opening because there was a hunger for more left wing policies. And there was a frustration with who the party was heading to nominate without much of a debate. Now, you have a much bigger field. And a lot of the people in that field. They're espousing Medicare for all with Warren just put out a big proposal about child care. The the debate has shifted in part. I think because of Elizabeth Warren in part because of Bernie Sanders in part because of Trump and yet it seems like when when you say, oh, but they're not really for. These policies that you're actually going back to that rationale of he needs to be here to keep them honest. And yet, they I don't believe those other campaigns would agree with that. Right. They would say, no, we're four this. This is this is what this is where the Democratic Party. Now is do you see do see struggle for rationale in that? I don't I don't actually think it's a struggle because you can honestly go back and see very Sandra saying he wants to candidates style healthcare system as long as the nineteen eighties. And he'd probably said it even before that video taking a record his opinion. And it is true that when other Democrats described this Medicare for all Democrats Medicare for all even if they say, they're all in even if they cosponsored legislation they described something more incremental. And as a Senator Sanders have said, he he is fine for indoor came the concept agreeing that that's Renita end up day. You know, you co-sponsor my think we can't do it for ten years. Okay. My villain agree that lead. Phase it enter to in two or four years even better. But he lifted the field and didn't see anyone who actually agreed with him hundred percent on the policy on the implementation. Other Democrats I keep going back to Harris, not just a pumper up. Just. That she's the person who had the most recent interaction with is. You know, she when asked what you do with the private insurance industry kind of leading question, but a fair question, whether this would eliminate that industry, and she kind of sounded like you said, yes, then she walked back where Sanders would give a competent answer on something like that he really thinks the industry drink down. So just little supplemental insurance Altis, and there should not be at all these big pharma companies certain not just pharma healthcare companies striding the earth in determining what you get even Warren who supports Medicare for all when she when she pushed on what she would get done incremental..

"Right and so this salience networks seems to be here's the way i guess the way to think about it the salience network bit nervous scientists talk about most often is really about emotional salience in terms of like you have internal visceral emotional states that are like this is painful this might be rewarding it's about the brain systems that alert you to the presence of some kind of emotionally relevant stimulants so see that's a little bit different from just realizing that there's something that you could learn something that you don't know out and sealants and this other network is more about the thing that generates impulse right it's like you might not wanna do that could hurt or hey you might want to go over there 'cause you know maybe there's something fighting over there so it's more about like the generation of impulses than than we think it's related to conscientiousness because part of that network is actually involved in regulating impulses right so being conscientious and being able to pursue bills effectively like conscientiousness is all about right it's about being able to avoid distractions not be lazy quinton ever to go after those longterm goals organize your goals properly right prioritize them correctly you're out like what makes sense is doing how you know it's about being organized being hardworking so anyway in order to do that what you need to do is basically effectively prioritize your goals and that means that you need to control those impulses so that like when the little alarm goes.
