Giants Claim Jose Quintana off Waivers From Angels
"Giants just picked him up. Remember from the White Sox wasn't quite as effective with the Cubs. Obviously, it doesn't have great numbers with the angels. But What's going on with him. Well, he's not. He's not been very effective in particular as a starter, and you know, he there was a time in his career where he had command issues, and that all came back. He just hasn't pitched that much in the last 2.5 years. Pandemic injuries, et cetera. The one thing I'll say on his behalf is that he's had the worst year of his professional career, and Joe Maddon and the Angels pitching coach Matt Wise. Went out of their way on a number of occasions to talk about what a great mentoring, Uh, factor influence. He's been with some of the younger Spanish speaking pictures on the Angels staff now. You know, down the stretch the the Angels. They didn't claim him, uh, to have a mentor right? They want a guy who can get some people out. So maybe they think there's something there situations. I don't know if the Angels or rather, the Giants get a A huge division leading it looks like they're not going to be caught. Maybe they use a guy like Quintana to to gap out other guys in the rotation. I mean, I don't think it cost them much. So who can fault the dart throw if they if they think they can catch lightning in a bottle for a month? Yeah, Matt. Thank you so much. It's always great catch up with the

"With every family member. You don't want to leave a child whether they have a disability or not on dirk for right if you have a child and you start thinking about you know what if i get a carson. I don't come home was gonna take care of my kids k. I think there's a movie called life as we know it. And oh yes and the the parents died and they left this couple that they thought they would go would fit well together. They left their daughter a with this couple and they left it on the will. And that's why it's important applying because you wanna make sure that your kids are taken care of whether they have a disability or not now because they have a disability. There's a little more of a heightened level of the need to take care of these affairs reason being is because they're more dependent on you and also they receive certain public benefits that you don't want them to lose if you don't leave things. In order example. Have a house. Both parents pass away on a date night to you know it's coming home in a car accident. God forbid that house. Even though it's not paid off it goes into probate. Somebody has to petition the court for a probate and then the kids would receive whatever's left on the equity in the house so let's say after paying off debts and expenses and funeral expenses and after paying taxes on the house and bills There's a hundred thousand dollars left right if there's one child with a disability and one child with not with no disability. Then you know both of them were going to get fifty fifty. I'm not too concerned with the child that doesn't have the disability. But i am concerned on the child that does have the disability. Because if there's no special needs trust than the fifty thousand dollars go straight to that child. They would lose all public benefits. They'd have to spend that money and then reapply but we all know that assign medicare doesn't cover life living expenses too much right so you wanna make sure that you you have them covered by having a special needs. Trust done so that. Ssi and make can touch special needs just because it's a third parties money. It's mom and dad's money. It's not that jobs money right at medico. catch it. So what happens is they continue to receive. Ssi medical as an example. And they still have the fifty thousand. That may be accumulating interest. And then they can use that. You know if a sibling wants to take them to hawaiian and medicare lobbies is not gonna cover a hawaii trip right. What do they do. They take a thousand dollars off the special needs. Trust count and they take them to hawaii it just it just fulfills. They're living it up laments. They're living educational expenses. That so that's why it's important applying. You don't wanna leave them hanging case especially when were kids especially minors especially adults and kids with disabilities locust. Important lebanese gazon Tony was monotonous..

"They help parents with dementia it could be a private attorney representing these family members and asking the court to appoint them as conservators but when it comes to addictions they went fall under what they call the mental health conservative the image c. or the s. conservative ship. And what the way that that. One works is at the person if they're the street or maybe someone called because they had a gun and they were threatening to kill. Maybe they were taken on a fifty one fifty right And they were. I don't know if you want to explain what a fifty one fifty is yet. no Well we've done it in other episodes but if you want to weekend well it's okay basically. They're taking the mental ward on because they need to be restrained for whatever reason and so if there's someone on the street that has an addiction that's being Maybe disruptive to the public. Maybe the police may take them into the mental ward. And then at that point. If there's a certain amount of days that have to pass before psychiatrist would say okay. This person can't be decision. You conservative. bright This mental health conservative is initiated by the psychiatrist and then it's given to the public guardian takeover so each county has a public garden. That conserves different types of individuals. And that's where the the individual with the addiction would fall. This person still has rights. They can defend themselves and say. Don't want a conservative I can handle my own affairs but this is where the battle comes in where the public guardian would would refer to what the psychiatrist said in the first place and then the judge would decide based on the reports came out. That's how the mental health when works and then the conservative would then put them in a rehab would do. What's in their best interest right to over right. "Your planning documents in your state money in your trust in your will and your power of attorney so That's pretty much it. As far as what types of conditions. I work with a pretty much a big range right. There are some cases that come into my office where family members have loved ones schizophrenia. Bipolar disorder Or even even a a very severe depression so It just really depends on the situation. It's a case by case basis In i evaluate them. If i'm not sure. I send them to the doctor to get evaluated while that was very informative. It's i mean there's so much like when you said you know not waiting until you have dimension not wait until you go into a coma like people. don't think about that stuff My mom passed away from cancer a few years ago and i remember like when she was diagnosed everyone started telling her like. Oh you got to make sure that you get an affidavit and do this and do that and where are you going to end. We were like whoa like. We're just thinking about the diagnosis but we have to think of those legal preparations and you don't think about it until like something happens and sometimes unfortunately in some cases like an accident or something the person does go into a coma and then everyone's like what do we do next. So it's crazy like we don't think about that stuff. Thank you for that answer Our next question is why is it. Important for parents who have children slash loved ones with disabilities or mental health issues to be aware of legal planning for their children but guessing potent but lost by their skin and equals a al-sadis goes Illumine thile sterile tanto de la blending fica alabama's seacoast and in that question. I also item. Put it in here. But i was thinking about as you were speaking what happens for example people with mental health. Issues like schizophrenia. And stuff like that Does the individual Have to give like permission for the parents to practice for them. Or maybe you can in your answer just kind of throw that in there. I'm just curious like how. How do they get permission. If if the person feels like for example this whole Britney spears thing right like but in a regular person. The person's like no teen. I have my own rights and i'm coherent all figured out but it's very obvious and clear that they're not and that their mental health issues really affecting them. How does the family help them. Or how do that like. How do they fall into place. Sorry i know it's so much other really good questions because in order for someone to give permission like you and i you can create a power of attorney you can sages giselle going out of the country for two months takeover my bills by house if you if you want to invest. So i was just saying was that I practice in the area of of the different types of conservative ships senate previously described A lot of the families especially in the latino community feel that they don't need to plan they don't need a trust you don't need a will and so what happens is that they come come about and they They leave their affairs unorganized and so if they become sick or they pass away their loved. Ones didn't have to take the burden of figuring things out where my passwords. How do i pay her cell phone. How do i pull his that account. How do i fix. How do i pay the rent. Why because the the family the person that that didn't plan a trust or will Left pretty much nothing and so when that happens and the the people who survived that person or maybe the person became ill especially nowadays with cova. If you're in the hospital who's who's going to take care of your bills. You need a power of attorney. You need a healthcare directive. You need a trust or will depending on what you have so it doesn't matter if you're rich or not. A lot of people think that having a trust and his for the the wealthy. It's to think about what they do in that one day doing this right. So in the first of june development they will guide you know newroz. Extend these accents right. These kind of like extensions so astro Guide those accents in addition astra sites with also guide the formation of a series of membranes. That kind of wrap or the central nervous system and they are called the manages. The blood brain barrier died is tightly controlled blabbering tightly controlled by the astros sites and then also with astronauts do is a provide nutrients they provide factors for neurons to do well right. I'm also you might know that. Neurons you know. They communicate by secreting chemicals. Right that produced by one. The essentially anuron so astros sides can regulate the secretion on app. Take those chemicals and by doing so they can actually regulate sitemap communication neuro to neuro communications so then they can having ten roads in behavior for example the memory. Now that's five of kind of like what we call a mere static right like functions faster exciting have in the context of the seas. They first before they can stop doing all of them right. And obviously that creates problems out boost when we call near the generation which is just another death. He added on top of that they can actually drive inflammation within the brain with. You can imagine very by than literally they can secrete molecules that killed nuris and that. It's even stronger driver of near the generation. so so is it. Correct francisco thing about sort of the neurons is like the hardware and astral sites through right. Your function sectors cried provides energy utopians it regulates communication so s sites is sort of like the software is likely to think about it afterward certain extent i would say that both duro sastre the other legal sales right of had way which has each one has his own programs on software but what is important to understand is that only the consequences of the function of the central nervous system. They resigned from the directions and communication between all those different parts of hard work. And they don't take to put where they feel has been for years. Is that for years. We've focused on the neurons as the main source of program know function but now we need to zoom out a little bit staticy with all those other cells and the their communication. What do they do in order to produce what we know as a function of the central nervous system has to the given that they have a video important set of functions that that affects the neurons if -bility to work.

Anti inflammatory activities of ezra sites and deregulation before we get into the details of this francisco. What exactly are astro sites. So he's actually an interesting question right. Because if i were to ask you what is the most uncertain your brain. Most likely you'll tell me the neuron right yet yet. The most of on themselves in the brain are astro sites. They got that name because they looked like straw. Look at them in the microscope under the microscope and in four years there were so band they were just kind of thought to be glittered. Glue literally were thought to be some kind of providers for neurons to do their things. However nowadays we realize that these cells being stored on that are not just passive bystanders. Right there they are very important for our the functioning of our brain and spinal cord. We call this the central nervous system. You encounter a known so very important drivers of neurologic diseases so he you know you have the most random cell in the cnn yet. You don't know what it does. So so as a everybody knows about the neurons and their importance. But you have this. Microbe leah and mac leukemia cells. Right in the brain so astra slice is sort of a cell exactly when you think about leo sales from the brain. You'd think about microbes you think about which are kind of macrophages right these ourselves. That eat up stuff random. Then you have another center which is called audio dangerous site. Which were they does it. Produces it synthesizes. The insulation around the neurons right the neurons ahab Insulation tissue. I mean we could that actually allows to work and then the third type of lille sell you. Having the brain is the astra site. That's why sometimes you would hear. Wanna bet on it, But I can't. I can't reciprocate that because we don't have that here. I can't I can't give you the money to get your old white beaches. But I can't do that. Give me some Bruce beaches. Your Honor, if I could interject here white Peaches is my thing with Hoody like Get your own thing That's like having a song with your wife And also all of the sudden you're song with your wife is my song with your wife. And by the way when you interject it's your Honor. May I approach and then I will allow you I said, your honor, I'm referring to Jonathan Hood. No, really. I'm actually the Supreme Court that overrules all of it. Well, I guess that'll never be changed. I am not rooting against the Bears because there's value and getting to the playoffs if you get there. I'm rooting for the Bears. You know why I cap? I'm rooting for the Bears because the defense deserves me rooting for and beers fans who support them. I'm re Fallon Robinson rooting for money I'm rooting for commit. I'm rooting for Santos for the players that want to get it done. For the players that give the effort. The max effort that we watched every game. I'm rooting for them because I don't want them to underachieve. Just because Matt Maggie's too, you know, is trying out dumb the room because Ryan Pace is not very good with talent evaluation when it comes to foriegn, ISI or trades. That's a problem for me, so I know you can't do it mid stream now. If you want to start the season say, Let's be the Jets and they just get Let's get Trevor Laurence or let's try to get a top draft pick. That's fine. But five and 11 doesn't get you exactly what you want, because even in the draft, you still need two or three offensive lineman in free agency need to a three offensive lineman. You've got to get better with your skill position players so You can root against the bears. All you want doesn't mean that you get to change that you're looking for and that means that pace and nag you're in this in a different spot if they're fired today doesn't mean that the Bears are Super Bowl team the next two or three years. It does. I don't want to go to the process off another head coach and general manager if I can help it. I don't want to deal with it right now. Your Honor. May I approach Yes, you may. I am not rooting for them Toe lose every game the rest of the way. Let me be clear it that what that ship has sailed. We were five and three. We're not getting Trevor Laurence. Whether you lose out or not, You could lose every game by a billion. It doesn't matter. I'm not. I'm not that guy. Like if we were Oh, and ate right now. Yes, I'd be that guy. I wanted to 2012 cubs to lose as many as they could to get a good player, And they did. They got Kris Bryant. My point is I'll watch evaluator Darnell Mooney plays like Jerry Rice the rest of the season. I hope David Montgomery looks like Wow, that looks really good. Hey, that guy we claimed off waivers That left guard looks really good. He's doing a good like I wantto watch those things. So let me be clear. I am not rooting for the Bears tto lose. That ship has sailed. My point is that if you and Danny asked me yesterday, Okay. You're the owner. How are you handling it? And as the owner of the team, a $4 billion asset that I would own. I would simply say to my coach, my GM my board of directors. Look, I appreciate everything you've done and I have paid you handsomely and I will pay off your deals. I just from my seat. See us spinning our wheels. We we want to Tennessee where? 63. It doesn't matter because that team my right eye in my left eye Schefty likes to say are my sources that team I've given you time. I've given you the offseason to fix Mitch and we got a better tight end room and we've got this We got it's not going to culminate in a championship is currently constituted. That's my point. I can't believe that she would do that to your friend Ryan Pace. I mean, what you're saying you're looking. You're looking for change, love? Yeah, I love you. And I've known you a long time. And if I bought a team and I hired you And were exceptionally close. And you brought Danny and Jeff in and I was at this point I go, honey. I love you, man. And I hope we can be friends. "You can hear the umpire a little bit more. You could hear some conversation that's going on. I mean that crack of the bat so much louder. And although you know I'm a sports fan, but it is my career. I've grown up loving sports. You know, would love to be able to attend, But I think there's been some kind of cruel aspect under the circumstances as well. And I think all three leagues about some real positive things that they've done so far. Just trying to protect the athletes and has many health and safety protocols in place they can, but so far, you know, it seems like no positive test in either the MBA or NHL at this point You know, you mentioned the crack of the bat. So I guess we have to bring up the subject that you may have been waiting to talk for for a bit for a while tonight. That's how about the red hot start by your Chicago Cubs? They didn't been played well tonight, but there they haven't gotten off to a really good start. And it's really pitching. If you look a statistically the top five categories for pitching their number one in three and number two and two and They looked again. Jose Quintana back in the next, maybe in the next couple of days. I think the big thing for the Cubs, though, is their bullpen. I mean Kimbrough, a $43 million.3 agent signing last year. I mean, he did not pitch well this year, he has been not good. They've tried to give him opportunities to close. It hasn't worked out. He's given up a lot of hits a lot of runs. I think they need to kind of share up. But back into that bullpen, they went out and they've signed a couple of guys today, but they need ah, closer and you know they had talked about Chatwood. Potentially. He got lit up today and gave up a run. I mean, Quintana, the answer or again, I'm going to say it the trade deadline in baseball. Is the 31st of this month. So are teams who are playing really well on this print, not marathon. Are they going to go out and maybe make that move Because they can at this point, and don't forget the playoff format. If you're the home team if you're the better record, all games in that first series are played in your ballpark, So it's kind of an important part as well. Maybe get that home field and have all three games potentially in your home ballpark. You know, that's interesting. You mentioned the trade deadline and then you brought up the subject that I was going to bring up in connection with the trade deadline. And that is because there are 16 teams this year. They're going to make the playoffs instead of just 10 teams. There may be more teams in contention that make the playoffs at the trade deadline. Then in years past, it might be even harder to make an acquisition to both her up a bullpen require a key key and one thing that you have to be encouraged about for the Cubs. He was all on the spur. Start. Yu Darvish. Please come back in his next few starts. He's looked pretty good, like the kind of picture they were hoping for when when they acquired him. He looked really good, Andy. We knew he had the stuff. We came back from the injury. He's a strikeout pitcher. Um if he's got everything going, he's He's one of the tougher guys to hit in the league. You've got Kyle Hendricks. You got you got a veteran and Lester. I think you know, Jack would have pitched well. They were opened. They'd have Quintana before the the the field injury. You've got Mills, who's pitched good, But you look at that bullpen and most people can't name. You know, three or four guys in the Cubsbullpen right now. They had really hoped that Kimber would be the guy. You're getting starting pitching that is averaging over six innings for game, but you really need again to sure up the back end and and I think it's going to be interesting to see which teams and where they're seated and you're right. A lot more teams will be in the postseason, so which teams will make that move, But you're still going to have the wind. A number of of Siri's compared to what you had to win in the past. So are you willing to give up assets to potentially be done after a three game series? It's going to be interesting and fun. They're all fluid guys. Ah, lot of things that we had to get used to, and a Justin and Kenny said, information era. There's so much out there that we stand top of and we know the guys on the other side of the counter are as well. And Chuck, you know, in a 60 game season every game matters, But when you get help from teams that nobody's really expecting to win many games, teams like Detroit and Baltimore got off to a good start. And then Miami goes down with the covert just two in one, but they bounce back and take four straight from Baltimore. All of a sudden, you've got some of these teams that were supposed to be doormats winning some games. How important is that to the book? This time of year? It's vitally important, Kenny like in any sport, I think they have some parity, but I think more So in baseball, you know, we've always talked about that. It's kind of the have been have not at some point in the season. Sometimes it starts earlier, sometimes after the All Star break. It's the one sport without a cap. So you've got teams that are spending way more than some of their other teams are and you know, we looked at it, you know, going back a couple of days. You had teams that were on, you know, five in six game win streak, you know, 82 or nine and one in their last 10 games and teams that had lost 34 and five games, So it's a sport where not only are they looking at the pictures, but they're betting against teams that are on a positive streak and against teams that are negative streak, and it seems the happen more frequently in baseball. So you know, having a little bit more parity. Having teams like Baltimore and Detroit and forward I kind of get out of the gate quickly and play better is definitely a good thing for our side of the counter. Two questions that are related. Chuck, What are you thoughts on the seven inning games when we have to play a double header because there'll be more of them coming up as there been any noticeable difference in the action on those games. Where are they basically being played like any other game? Just two instead of one for a day for a couple of teams. There definitely has been questioned and E of what, like the interpretation is Ana on run line in total, and how it works. You know, we actually address it in our house rules are able to kind of give give the gets a copy of our house rules and review at them and talk to them. I'm fine with it again. I am just happy that baseball is playing, but there has definitely been some questions. Have you have you put up run lines for the seven. Any games? I think told her up. Oh, yeah, We definitely and I think seven and 7.5. But what? The station's policy on those Dubliners. It's the same thing. I mean, a game has to go. It least you know, 6.5 innings or 4.5 innings. Um, and if it doesn't go, you would have no action as Faras. The total and run line goes But everything else is basically the same as a nine inning game, so just reduce, basically, for those those seven any games. They take nine innings instead of going in, and we have to go 6.5 Correct, Correct Run Lina and total see up better correct Chuck. One of the great things about stations properties is that you can mix and match..

"Off the baseball show with Jonathan Hood presented by Goose Island Baseball is back tomorrow night. 66 PM Yes, si. They may be working out. They may be doing all that cool stuff reporting and you know they're practicing and doing little little games and that kind of inter squad stuff, But baseball is officially back tomorrow at six o'clock. With Jonathan Hood. So a new show here at ESPN 1000 the baseball show We bring in Jonathan Hood from ESPN 1000 and the baseball show to the conversation. Right now, you can follow him on Twitter at Tweet J. Hood and Jonathan as we take a look at these two teams. There was news on Thursday of Jose Quintana, the Chicago Cubs left hander. He hurt his hand washing dishes. He's hey was required surgery. He is expected Tio not throw again for two weeks. He could be out for probably the first month of this season. How badly does this hurt the Cubs rotation, So we head into this baseball season. It definitely hurts the rotation but also hurts the reputation that I look at What Quintana? You were actually washing dishes, no dishwasher or no one washing dishes for you. I mean, I mean, what What's with that? I mean, there's been a lot of bad excuses. Usually you don't get that in football or basketball. These other sports What is amazing that at baseball these freak injuries, air quotes these freak injuries happened. I was watching the dishes and man, I messed up my hand. No, something else happened there But because it's a sprint, right, Chris, because we're talking about 60 games. All hands on deck is many people that are available is possible. You want to be able to have your best team out there on the course. You know it comes to Canton. A. He's a guy that can give you more than a little bit off 500. He could be a really quality player for us in the starting rotation. But Adam, the thing I'm looking at is is that if Quintana is not there, that's a step backwards again for the Cubs, and we take a look at the Cubs Overall, we wonder what is the shelf life for Ross or for this cups team? Is the window still ajar for them to even win another championship anytime soon. Will you look at the two teams down within the Cubs in the white socks? You know the Cubs they lose Quintana like we just talked about the socks. They've got questions in their rotation as well as their bullpen. Which team do you think is better set up to make a playoff run? The White Sox division is easier than the Cubs, but the Cubs have The veteran presence. They've done this before. Which team do you think the 60 game stretch stacks on best for where you're leading the witness, sir? When you talk about the veteran team, right, because it would be the Cubs. You know, the window is ajar until 2021 for those Cubs team to be able make some noise. I think if you're a White Sox fan, yeah, you like to be able to see a team. This team be able to flourish with their young players. But I just think that you would come out Rizzo, which want Bryant Schwarber. It's like looking at pitching staff. That team should be able to compete. But the thing that we all have talked about it last couple years is the underachievement of the Cubs. How they have not been able to play up to their standard on that should be a team that should be always in the mix of the playoffs, so I would lean toward the Cubs because If I said white socks, and if the Sox get off to a poor start, there's like, Oh, well, you know this team is not is not what they're supposed to be. This team should be able to be better because of the young players mixed with their veterans, But I'm not starting the clock on the White Sox in 2020. I think that we're going to see some shades of good play, but 2021 moving forward. That should be the time that we really evaluate the White Sox. Something hood from ESPN 1000 baseball show debuts tomorrow at 6 p.m. Right here on ESPN 1000. You can catch that show every week day Monday through Friday, Right here on ESPN 1000. Jonathan. When you look at the Cubs, if they do get off to that slow start, Do you think they could start trading away some of the pieces on this team who may need contracts in the future? Could you see some of these pieces being sold? Before the deadline. The question about that Chris and the least the answer for that is what does feel want to do. Everything is it's continued on what you want, because he does not have a new contract. He's tether to 2021. And it's crazy to me that someone as good as Theo Epstein did not get a contract extension as soon as the World Series is worn, like Five or six more years. He's up in 2021. I don't know if he's going to get an extension in the near future. So whatever happens with this team, it makes me wonder. Feel look at this team. And if it under achieves and says, You know what we Congar? Oh, and do this for one more runs. We're gonna add payroll. And if ownership in the Ricketts say, Well, we can't add payroll, Then I think that the best course of action is to be able to start pairing off some of these players and decide how you will be able to address the future. And here's why. I can't come up with five or six guys in the minor league system for the Cubs that can be able be put in place right now. And to be able T really help this Cubs team for the future. They are bereft of quality in the minor league system. And so at some point, how are you able to replenish the minor league system? You've got to do that by making trades. And so if Ricketts continues to talk about what we don't have any money and And how we don't have like a stack of cash in the corner. As he said a few a few weeks ago. I cool then you're going to have to be able to bareback payroll. That means that you will not be a winner with a couple of years or so you're not going to come close to the World Series. So I think anything that the Cubs do is predicated on one will they spend more money? For the future and to if you don't it's okay to be able to make trade to try to get younger. That's a major issue with this Cubs team. Yeah, I think that's the biggest divide, Jonathan. It's like, Yeah, Theo can want a lot of things. And you could say, Hey, look, you should extend. You know you should sign Kris Bryant to an extension. You should extend Javier Baez. But if Ricketts comes in and says no. Hey, we need another pitcher. Now we need to sign a picture. We need to trade for a pitcher. Brick. It says no, I'm not spending the money. What is Theo supposed to do? How is he supposed to work? The so called Theo Magic? If he's being hamstrung by his owner, it's It's going to be an interesting season. It's going to be an instant off season. I want to ask you about the White Sox and specifically Michael Kopecks, a Sox fan. What do you expect to see out of him this season? It's the great unknown because we saw glimpses of how he could really be special that fastball on DH again. We only saw just like a little bit of glimpse of what he could be. I'm hoping that we could be able to see a guy that can be able to step step into This position with this White Sox team and really do, Cem. And provide a little magic because, but here's the thing out If he's so young, it's really again. The great unknown about what he conduce. I just I just remember what we saw from him. He was like, Okay, this guy could eventually be an ace for the future. But the funny thing about all of this right with the season and it's 60 games and it's not going to be what full stands and there might be some coaches here. There that's missing is this very unusual like these type of topics would be great if we were talking about this in April, when the season started, like when it's supposed to start. And be able to go through the 1 60 to be able to have Evan flows. I've been reading so many different like, you know, almanacs and different websites about what we could see. The thing is that with all these players because it's 60 games, plus plus, if you get to the playoffs, ah, lot of this is is unknown. I would say that I'm I'm hoping that kopeck pitchers well, because it's really not about today. It's about the future. But it's just so strange guys with his 60 games, you just don't know what you're going to get with a lot of these players and how they'll build able to adjust during this covert 19 Jonathan Hood from ESPN.

"J Nights. Words are important Words have meaning. And right now, here And now, words from important people are critical and vital. And now here, stop Waris. Alluded to this on Tuesday. Not really eluded, but I was speculating maybe was Monday night about whether or not we're going to know when athletes have Cove it 19 and our missing time. Because of Kovar had 19. Well, it doesn't appear lease in baseball. Side. Imagine the other sports as well. But at least in baseball, it doesn't appear that way. Learning the last couple of days since we were last together. That identifying players that miss time due to Cove at 19 will not be easy. There are a couple of general managers have spoken out on the issue, and apparently, teams will not be allowed to divulge the name of any player who tests positive because of HIPPA. Dipippa Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. I think we know what that is by now, so You're just gonna have somebody who's out for, you know a certain period of time and then If they're back in what 14 days, 10 days 14 days ago. Okay, I guess he was out with Cove. It's so That's how we're going to have to decipher that. Also that funny, I say, funny. Any injury that doesn't happen to you can be classified as funny. Carlos Skin on the colors. Eyes there. Carl Who's Carlos Santana? Carlos Quintana to think so. Jose Quintana. He's a pitcher for the Cubs. Carlos Quintana didn't was that he played for the White Sox. I think anyone but Cubs left hander Jose Quintana, who by the way is an absolute brewer's killer. Over his career. He is 31 years old. Injury. That he suffered while washing dishes. He lacerated his left thumb and he needed five stitches. So he went under a underwent microscopic surgery today. To Ah, determine the extent of the injury. The procedure identified a lacerated digital sensory nerve in his left film. He cut his thumb while doing the dishes. It was surgically repaired, so he's going to be out a few weeks. And as we know in this baseball season a few weeks Is a lot but again. It's one of those injuries. We can add it to the long list of Athletes getting hurt in odd ways and Only people do their dishes. Manually. Yeah, Me too. You cut your hand up there to hit me too. I never I I think it's I think it's It's hereditary. As my parents. Wash that they still you know, wash the dishes manually. There was a time I was a child where we had a dishwasher. But It was used or somebody donated it to us or some family. Somebody else gave it to us. And I remember we had it for maybe a few months, and it just never caught on. Here's the other thing. That's kind of odd. I have a dishwasher. I have a dishwasher in my unit. I have never used it. I've been in the same place for many years. I have never used it. It's just It's just there for decoration. It is a decorative Dishwasher only but anyway, so you do on the risk when you're washing the dishes with your hands. Of cutting yourself and that is exactly what happened to Jose Quintana. A pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. Correlation and causation, correlation and causation doesn't really know the difference between the two of those terms. Correlation. For example, I could say The sale of sunglasses. Is spiking here in July. The sale of ice cream is spiking here in July. Now they're both true. They're both, you know, related to the warm temperatures, So you have sunglasses sales on the rise. You have ice cream sales on the rise, but one does not cause the other Toa happen. Ice cream sales do not cause sunglass sales to rise or vice versa. Okay, that's correlation versus causation, and as it pertains to The next topic we're going to discuss because many people have been wondering Many people have been assuming, I think, surmising certainly that the protests that we have seen in this country over the last month little over a month now. Are playing a role in the rise in the That's a soft term spike of covert 19 cases that we're seeing in large parts of this country. We're starting to get some information. Some Some raw data, just actual research into okay. Is there. Causation between The protests. And these massive spikes in covert 19 positive cases I will share with you some of that initial research when we come back, and we make it into the mask discussion as well before the hour is over. This is this is interesting information because I know many of us have been wondering, have been thinking. Have been anecdotally. Maybe assuming That Because of the protests. They have caused the spike in covert cases. The information as it was for me earlier today, when I was able to dig it up was eye opening. I hope it will be for you as well when we come back. They say no one.
