Bob Woodward Refuses to Come on the Mark Levin Show

"Mister Woodward we've invited you on this program when you're lousy books have come out And of course in your last book I kicked your ass in terms of sales but that's beside the point The question is why won't you come on my show to discuss your investigation of Watergate Is it because I cite in my book mister Hamilton The accuses you And fat so your partner Of deceiving the American people on certain material facts And he would know Since he was provided access to all the raw notes and materials that Ben Bradley had Because he was asked along with Sally Quinn Ben Bradlee and Sally Quinn asked him To write a final book that they were contracted to do about themselves of course And when information like that appeared in the book Woodward was furious with this gentleman

You find that your favorite songs or maybe the songs that are most fulfilling to you that they they come faster almost fully formed versus the ones that you really have to kinda like find your way a little bit more. Not necessarily i will say i get like not even in the studio just my daily life. I'll get this kind of manic creative energy. And i'll hear these melodies in my head and i'll pull my voice memos and try to lay something down and then i'll stop that voice. Meme start a new one report a harmony for that line. I just recorded and i remember. I did this one song That i recorded the whole thing in voice memos at eleven thirty pm the previous night of a morning session and it ended up being a great song I had all these ideas for like strings orchestra part so i was mimicking. Those sounds with my with my voice. And i ended up including them in the track. And just like there are those Energy where is something better than you. And and you lay it down and it turns into something All songs to start with like the bare bones. And i have those moments lot. I just record the bare bones and it becomes something great. So i don't know if that answers your question but that's been my strains. Oh absolutely and i know i know. Faith is a big part of your life. And i was gonna ask you how that comes through in your music but it sounds like you just answered it. I mean those moments of inspiration were just there it is. That's that's kind of words in your mouth but no it's weird man with the faith like i never would have mentioned that i was making this kind of music Like it's it's not straight up christian music but it's not straight pop very much crossover between you with these subtle faith undertones and and i liked that because it's actually really representative of hawaiians person and where i am in my faith journey but if you told me that i'd be making music with any faith undertones. I probably would have been pretty surprised but is weird man. I i went through this really really difficult. Rough patch in my life Before this project hang online. And i needed something to turn to I i needed like something bigger than me to stop where i was at. Take a complete left. Turn and start over It was some health issues. And i did i stopped. I never had an alcohol problem. But i stopped drinking. I haven't had a drink in almost fourteen months. I don't mess around with any drugs or anything. But yeah it's like i went through this verbal rough patch and in their rough patch in the in the midst of it. When i was at my lowest low i started getting these synchronicity or these signals from a higher power I'm super acepted. That stuff you know. I kind of have that creative energy of. But i listened to higher power and call that god if you will like. It just took me down. This left turn that. I was so desperately seeking to make things better and that's like this project came online. That's when i did the christian musical a week away. So is this all always felt very meant to be and when i was doubting god the most that's when i realized like them by god has been leading this the whole time and i'm in the best place i've been in years and i'm stable but yeah i can't deny we'll have to go into detail with intuit another time. That might shock the listener here but it was pretty bad. I was in bed place better. I'm i'm so glad to hear that and also thank you for for sharing that with me and with listeners. I really appreciate your trust and And your music as well. I mean you know. I think that people who are receptive to our music are receptive to all kinds of different energies. To and i. I personally believe that. That's all related in thinking and you said you call it. God call it whatever you want and there's something else that we may be can't necessarily see or touch but it definitely is there. I could not agree with you more and yeah just delicious. Thank you for listening you know. And that's what this whole product is been. It's been me funneling all that energy and all that experience and everything. I went through to turn it into something positive. I what am i. Friends told me after released wildfire. There like you realize you're because i did this ep while back in She said do you realize that out of the cold. That single from the ep that you did was a pretty pretty dark depressing song. In retrospect compared to what the citizen you went from out of the cold to wildfire. That's like that. And that is so representative of the journey that i went through in a nutshell. So that's why like so excited about this. That's coming up. Because it's taking all the stuff that i learned all the really heavy shit and just making something great out of it and i'm so excited for it. You know i love it. Can't wait for folks to hear kevin. This has been a true pleasure. Thank you so much for your time today and your music and just opening yourself up you are the best. I really really appreciate it. Thank you so much. And i'm so grateful that we will add this conversation. I'm stoked so it was great meeting..

"Folklore. i think is that one. Yeah yeah so. Those two i think aaron deaths ner is a pretty big piece of that project and for me. It's like i love the kind of folk thing that she ventured into with those two albums especially dude. I'm such a big of justin vernon monitor one of my favorite bands of all time. And i'm lucky to be alive to watch them. I saw him at the hollywood bowl. Oh nice so. But the way that she kinda ventured into that sound with them at the helm is is my favorite thing. She's done so far by far. Oh super unexpected. I didn't i guess. I should've maybe expected given her sort of country slightly more folksy beginnings but still did not see that comment after You know lover and everything. That was before the i feel like. That's what a good artists does. She's a great artist now. As like you reinvent yourself. With every album. I mean that's what it should be in my mind Even like justin timberlake man of the woods. Something totally different than what he was doing before So you know like as far as my own personal music. I definitely have an idea of what. I want this first project to be but i already have ideas like what's the software l. Gonna look like was you know what i mean. So i have these ideas in my head that i want to execute but i just got finish reporting the debut album. I doubt how far along are you with that I would say of the songs are written at this point I think we've produced three just about to produce three-year so wildfire is one of them. There's a second single And then i have the surprise. Spanish version wildfire. Which by this point of the podcast being aired on. I think we'll be out by september. Twenty four th whatever. I'm not sure. I think you're catching me. Not knowing what dad actually is today. I think it might be right. I think it might be this friday so slightly before it but but yeah close very close. They have the spanish version wildfire. Look forward to that. And then i was gonna say a third and fourth song. Then we got a record. The rest of the like six or seven there But recording this vantage wildfire was a lot more difficult than i expected. I should just say that for the record. How's that just with with getting the the sounds out of your mouth. That maybe aren't aren't ordinarily something you'd sing or yeah 'cause here's the thing like i'm not fluid fluent i'm more than conversational am but i'm less than fluent so i feel pretty confident when we had this idea to give in the latin american markets. Something they listen to you And we were going to do like portuguese version. And i'm not sure if that chain we'd realized how difficult it was to get the spanish worn done but we recorded it at the capitol tower. A very nice. We had like crazy. Nice mike. We're a sinatra's migrate. Whoa i was super stoked about it. our engineer was like just. You know nauseous. Mike so but it was just like the delivery of the spanish words within the context of the melody was a lot more difficult than i thought it would be because you know when you singing your native language. When i'm singing in english i can hear how melody and pitched and everything. I want in the vocal performance. How it should be in english. Because i hear it back as doing it but with advanced like that element of hearing yourself back in the might refer in headphones wasn't as prominent so. I felt like i was shooting blind a lot of time. That's really interesting. Yeah i don't know how to explain it but overall very pleased without doubt i know the label is pleased. I think the fans are going to be pleased but it was definitely a a more difficult idea to execute. The night is expected. Oh wow i can't wait to hear me all power to ya. It took eight years of french and my teacher used to make me read at the end of class for her amusement because my pronunciation was so bad she was just roll and and of course now totally gave me a complex. I won't you know all the language arts teachers have a steel day with their students. Oh yeah big time relatable man i mean you talk speaking of all the different influences. You have something i wanted to ask you about. I know you have a obviously a very big musical theater background I did musicals in high school. i love it. I miss it every day of the songs that are in musicals. I mean just the songcraft there from people like sondheim and rodgers and hammerstein so impressive and people kind of forget the quality of those songs. What is your background in musical theater. Do for you as songwriter. You think i. that's actually a great question I definitely i never wanted my music to be like you know across line of uncleared you showy and i never wanted to quake crossed that line but at the same time. Anyone who's been musical. You can't deny that by the time you finish watching the musical and you walk out of the theater at least one song stuck in your head. It's like every single musical. Has that song powerful. It's totally powerful. Yeah with biking ensemble bathrooms backing them up. And it's a really is a a produced song onstage happening. Live and i feel like these musical leader. Songwriters are just so good with finding these super catchy melodies But they're also trying to push the bars it'll be like they may throw in a national no surprise you off guard or they may have keychain right. Everyone knows the key change in musical theater in while i've never been so bold as to include a key chains like that yet. Those melody stick with you. You can't tonight. So i i definitely feel like i took some of that from just my experience. The musical theater in finding those super hooky melodies. And if you find a melody and it's not super hoagie and you're not in love with it. Then you better finding new melody. that's how i've always approached it in the in the real thought it was interesting. How the beatles when they started out they didn't have tape recorders and so they were right melodies. That were good enough. I think if we can't remember it the next day a how can we expect fans to you know and it had this built-in sort of system of like well it's gonna be good enough for it to get stuck in our head first and it was just sort of a funny way to like a sort of litmus test their own way to weed out. The ideas weren't that good is so. Did they like if they did have a melody. 'cause i'm always interested in learning more about eagles. I'm not sure if you know a lot about them from a catholic beetle nerd okay. So if they came up with the melody right and they weren't in love with it would they change the melody or would they. Just you know stick with it. You know and you know what i mean like in the early days when they were really just trying to knock out two ish albums a year plus four singles or something like that. They would kind of like okay. Well we don't have that much time. And we're touring on top of all this. We gotta just do it. But then when they stopped touring sixty six. They would kinda massage it more and really like wait for it to be. They wouldn't waste time on something they didn't think was a hundred percent.

"As in between takes on the set. He was writing songs like a lot of songs. He's written close to one hundred and a few weeks back is fans heard the results. Wildfires name of his major label debut single in advance of a bigger collection to come. Shortly i had a great time getting a noam learning about his writing style and generally acting like to record nerds. I'm so happy to welcome. Kevin quinn oh so much talked about today but first of all. Tell me about your new single wildfire. How did this begin for you. Tell me a little bit about the inspiration. Yeah i think wildfires for me. I just wanted to create something causative In introductions of the rest of the project you know like i just want all the music to be positive uplifting inspirational I wanted to be clean. You know these create choices that i made for the project and i feel like wildfire crossed off every list for those things of of what i wanted the project e so we imagine it would be a great debut single and i'm glad we chose it I think the inspiration behind it was just like even through the worst of times in the darkness and Just total shit like like you have that wildfire in your heart. That gets you going through. You know it's like It's it's a thing that's bigger than you. That will get you through the darkest of times and it's a real thing so i feel like that's for. The wildfire metaphor a sponsor for sure absolutely. I mean it's a beautiful message especially one we need the last year and a half or so. It's definitely something we need to tap into ourselves. Yeah man it's it's so it's so really timely to you know 'cause a lot of this viral during a pandemic and i just wanted to be like the perfect timing the release considering just what the world has been through so i felt like it was. It was a godsend. You know that wildfire checked off every boxing It just it. Just felt very timeline. It felt like the timing was perfect. Absolutely in the video does such a great job of illustrating matt talk a little. Bit more about the visuals for the song. video directed by roaming white Who if anyone listening There's a movie on netflix. Called a week away. That i started. Its musical movie have you seen. You may not have i. I have not i i was actually. I was just about to ask you about that but please. I got a lot more on that to come. No no it's definitely very younger crowd. I wouldn't expect you to wash it But the director that movie. We teamed up roman. Is you create this music video. And i told him. I wanted something energetic. You know. I wanted something very much in the lane which he had done. Before with a lot of the artist you collaborate within the past Sweet i remember. We had like forty five minutes phone. Call just to discuss ideas. It's so rare that a creative relationship is so synergistic and you bounce all these ideas off each other. That's how it is wrong tonight. I spit ball an idea and he immediately receives it and vice versa So i i feel like it was very much a collaborative process even from the treatment shoe the filming to the final product. But i gotta give it up to rome because he he had this vision for the the kind of like kevin bacon. Footloose dancing around the You know what i mean and it turned out great so i was. I was super police. Are i mean. I was gonna ask. I know. obviously you were extremely involved in the soundtrack to the movie. I think. I think it was eleven out of thirteen songs. Something mike that did that in any way. Influence your decision to take the time to really focus in on your music career. After all the the acting involved with it wasn't the movie soundtrack that was a catalyst of believer nine. I had been writing music for four years of the point. I release some music. You know that. I thought was representative of where i was at at the time only to realize later. Now this this direction. I wanna go you know. I'm young enough still figuring out my sound at this point where i wanna go So i scrapped. Those songs and i started completely new project with some new creative choices. But just you know recording the soundtrack we actually recorded it on sets that we built like this makeshift studio How producer was. yeah like. He created this vocal booths in the camp sober camp. That we were shooting is really cool. Cool yeah yeah. We spend our days in there and goof around and it just felt so comfortable in an wants. Was the films music producer. Hugh edwards on like high school musical and some of the other Disney musicals but yet like i said just so comfortable although that process wasn't a catalyst for me like writing music guide already doing it definitely i. It was just experience that continued to help me grow. And i think that enough made the experience worth it and you touched on this a little bit earlier. You had something like one hundred songs in reserves right. When when you i mean. That's that's incredible to me. When did you first start writing. When i was on a disney The disney channel show called. I had a two year. Tenure on that show. And i know but yeah. Yeah i think i mentioned to some of the cast and crew that i had you know dream of pursuing music branagh. They realize the extent of how hard i was working at the time. It was just kind of something. I did on the side of when i wasn't on said but yeah i mean for years. Were the writing I if we did have a hundred dollars in my pocket before. I decided to release wildfire at least in a row. I just writing for years. But that's how particular i was i was like. I don't want to release the just for the sake of releasing it. And i had done that before and i didn't like results so i was like no. I'm knocking release anything and worked out. Where where did this come from for you. Who are some of the people that made you want to pick up an instrument and express yourself in this way. I can't explain it. i can't explain it. It was this something i was always drawn to. I think i don't know you ask any creative in in any performer in this business. It's like working. You really pinpoint their passion. And when they wanted to decide to do it or what was the catalyst but for me. It was just always something bigger than myself. It was like. I couldn't imagine myself doing anything other than performing so i i don't know i. It would carried on through my childhood. Like i remember that feeling in my childhood listening to some great music like the beatles or the rolling stones for you know just like a lot of rock bands a lot of eighties nineties music. I just absorbed myself in music as a young kid And that fallen. Me as i got older and i just knew what i wanted to hear in like track and harmonies and i got pretty good at syria. One point so i just started my own music. Wow that's really cool man. I'm someone who loves music. I mess around instruments. I take a music theory class. I have never been able to write a song in my entire life. So when i talked to someone like you who said yeah. I've written a hundred. That's just to me. That's like magic. I mean how. How does the theory factor into your your writing process. Because that's always an interesting line. Because i know these people like paul mccartney who can't read music i mean it's just totally something that they do by ear and so the the line between wanting to know what you're doing with theory but wanted to keep some magic and spontaneity and.

"Thought with holly right. I think if people spent more than a second they would fall in love with harley quinn just generally as a character across films even the cartoon version with kaley corker probably the best and most enjoyable role. I've seen not flight attendant. I never watched big bang theory Yeah that's a hard. Yikes but i really enjoy holly quin as a character because there is a in most cases there is an off her trying to come into our yard. She has this endearing nature about her. She's she's a killer. Just like rick flag was saying about the weasel. He's homeless. he's school like twenty seven. Children like obviously You need to suspend I guess criminal sort of activity to enjoy a film like this but by all accounts holly quin is a sweetheart and she does meanwhile As well it was it was definitely most welcome. I really enjoyed her in the film she kind of was on the leash of jirka. If you'll pardon the pun. But i enjoyed her in the role. She was kind of the glue in the squad as well. I think the second time. I was watching has called Twenty sixteen is a southern getting my story sort of big stuff for harlequin where we'd watched emancipation harlequin queries. I think he was a good movie. Wasn't as bad as how people wanted to make it out. It was a lot of fun. And the action was pre. Most the helsinki stand up a was it was. You could tell john wiccan. Stanton was in the building in essence. Oh very nice. Oh very nice. Yeah but i. I think trying to understand the timelines as well. But it's only because we watch two thousand sixteen recently even though that would have come out before but i really enjoyed iraq. I thought it was great. it is sad. It's very predictable. Much like the moth. A breaking of the pearls It's very predictable way. You see holly's hot breaking because she realizes at whatever point in the story a watching that she realizes the jerk never really loved her and was always maybe not always but like at that point. She's realizing she's being used and manipulated. It was sad to see you go through that heartbreak In two thousand sixteen. Close more in monster patient. Because they don't get to see how get brokenhearted by the joker interesting inversion. It's more thinking the other joke has died and that up until the joker comes to rescue her the very end of the movie To set up a wants to patient and while..

"There's a lot of fear because she's been harboring a lot of secrets on one of them being how much she cares for agnes and it can be really difficult to see someone. You love sick. in mary. Of course already been furthest. She already went through the the loss of her son so when she goes in sees agnes. It's almost like seeing her bady like they really have this loving maternal relationship where they both kind of mother each other in getting in there. And it's kind of like you. You get a glimpse of your friend again. You know they have a kind of jovial moment talking the horrors but had been going on You know it's always difficult when someone you love tells you to face the music you know says you're not dealing with this in mary's not ready she's not ready for that truth Because as long as she holds onto it as long as she holds onto her son in a way she's keeping him alive even if it's just for herself and she she will not let go and you know i. I think that mary makes the wrong decision. Not dealing with Her past trauma. So yeah it is a big scene and really she kind of goes to a major chain which we ought spoil but It it really reflects the rights of the film where it goes like to play that i mean. That's that's a concern. I would say if i'm saying it right is a big is a good word for her in that particular moment of the film. Yes i you know. Mary has been running her wet running away her whole life so again. It's kind of like. She's in the convent. She thinks that she's going to have solitude and rest inches chased out of there and she runs away and tries to make it in the real world. If you will and no one will leave her alone. She just won't be left alone. And i think that starts to drive her crazy because she's not getting what she truly wants. Which is to meditate. Contemplate on the love lost of her son. It sounds like mickey was very very collaborative with you and your company and making absolutely absolutely. We talked about a different set. They were seeing. We continually may descript better like every single day. All the way through production in. He has such an amazing crew around him like their production designer caitlyn shelby. Who makes all of our sets just so detailed incredible. There's always something to look at. It was really nice to work with mickey that way and having the whole picture in the news also really nice that as an actor he was he he just gave complete truss and really focused on the shots in getting everything we needed for the movie. So that i could go through my journey unencumbered What's it like to be selected for the tribeca. Film fest.

"Enemy that series hits that right on the head of that entire conversation that we're having a society right now anyways also wonder how much of her popularity has to do with the audiences that are not white male sis hetero but love comics and love comic book characters in love those types of movies in love. Those types of animated series are just starving for a character that they can connect with exactly and so here she is and she's not that she may not look like them but she's at least not that and so they flocked to her because she represents the other end maybe if we started to diversify those characters more you might see some people who love quinn and a black female character. I would love to see them do more with black canary. The or they love harley quinn. Because she was there gateway character but now they also love these other characters that are a more accurate representation of who they are. And it's not so much that everybody can connect with this white bisexual jewish woman but she at least is representing people who are not everyone else in the comic world right now. Yep exactly billy also brought up the fact that kathy and directed birds of prey. And i just want to point out that that is not an insignificant fact because kellyanne her previous film dead. Pigs is a magnificent chinese ethic of the movie that you never would have suspected that dc would come calling after that movie but it is an incredible film and for whatever set of reasons. I think it's remarkable that she was able to take over that film. And i think that there is something very specifically chew the non western gays as well that it's specifically non male non western non white. That is really missing a lot from perspectives in comic book. Movies on the whole right now. And i think in the birds of prey film. I think that was something that allowed a lot of people to connect to harley quinn as the character and to embrace other characters a little differently. We'll see if this trend continues in khloe zhao's upcoming internals. How other people will receive that film as well. I keep hearing damaging narratives about her coming out. That really drive me crazy because everybody wants to drive the narrative toward the zack. Snyder's of the but let's say that's not my purpose anyway and with that but that's the whole thing right because there are so little women especially women of color in the blockbuster sphere making anything that finally went one of them or two of them. Get a shot. It's immediately like oh what can we say about them that this criticism as makers even though they have all the right to be there. S makers as any of the other makers have their right. And that's kind of thing that hollywood needs to unlearn and that's gonna take a lot of time until all the old white men sitting at the tones die basically what you notice whether it's marvel but especially with these see like i said where you have one or brother. Writers is that people top down. Look at things go like yet but this is not my perspective. Comic books are fruit. Boys are men so men can make look at the dark knight. That went well because nolan needed. And nolan is a man with vision so only men with vision. Ma comic book movies. Only penises with is on the is on them are allowed to make comic books and they have to be rooting. And if they can speak with a british accent even better whether they're british or not and if they can mumble with a british accent even better the best thing in a perfect world for these people for these investors would be an elon..

"These animated series that are much more animated movie series that are much more human oriented like human ordinary experience types of things focused and i think all of the stuff that harlequin is going through the poison. Ivy is going through gives you that background of something. That is a joyful experience to see them figure out. That isn't going up against the titans of the hero world or whatever right like it isn't universe defying expectations. just buck. who am i and what does that mean. And how do i figure that out. And also what am i going to do about dinner later and i love that and then said when you mash all that up with some ultra violence and some foul mouth profanity. That's my jam right there. It's so interesting too. Because i still remember from the very opening line of the animated series when it was a captain raising glass and saying my fellow whites the second i saw that frame i was like oh this is this is. This is my show. I'm gonna like this. I'm gonna like this and then it ends in a rousing cry of fuck the poor and then you're like okay definitely my show definitely my show. It's so interesting. Though how this show is so specifically tied into certain messages as well about capitalism and misogyny and a lot of the things that this particular podcast is all about. And i always have found it so fascinating that harley quinn is the character represents so many different things as an lgbtq plus icon as everything. But she is. Why do you think that there's been this explosion of so many different aspects of media that focus on her right now. Do you think it's because of the way that she is crafted in terms of her social justice messages or the way that narratives are constructed around the think. It's in indeed like how things are changing currently especially with newer generations. How harley quinn was portrayed in the beginning was very from a very misogynistic like very meal gaze point of view whereas now she's involved to being her own character like we all mentioned the she can carry a whole movie. She's the main show for a lot of people and they've made her more independent and have her literally. Honest screen tried to pry loose from that male gaze character world that was bestowed upon her in the nineties. thousands so this whole independent woman independent person. Just going out there doing what you want to do for yourself. Character arc is very liberating m very up to date with how young girls nowadays wanna see themselves as well. they have something that they can actually latch onto. Learn from. What the new harley quinn is doing and if you look at it how they've done it for instance in the animated series..

"I highly recommend that for anyone who is interested in introducing the younger generation to harley quinn. I highly recommend. Also stephanie phillips new reboot of harley quinn. Future state. Amanda conner in jimmy poem. Yati also had a wonderful run of harley quinn as well that i also love but right now what. Stephanie phillips doing i think is absolutely amazing to have a really strong female writing voice on the character which we haven't had before and i think that's really powerful and i'm really happy that the comics industry has kind of stepped up to the plate with that and with birds of prey. I was so so happy to see birds of prey and all of the various team members the way that they came together in that film. I wonder though how the rest of you process that film comparatively to suicide squad or to something else. Was it what you were expecting. It's a much better. I think anyway. It's a much better film than suicide. Squad suicide squad is a lot of fun. Billy makes fun of me. Because i love the soundtrack from that film. Because it's basically the soundtrack from our high school days. It's like nineties dance. Yeah it is. It is great. Don't tell on me. I would but i enjoy watching that movie. It's really fun. But if you strip the soundtrack out of that movie. I think you go it lose a lot of enjoyment from it but the most fun thing about suicide squad is the music and the one liners and watching harlequin. Beat the shit out of people. There's not a lot more to it and birds of prey is in a whole different tier films. That genuinely good movie in. It doesn't need that crutch like well. It'll tap into your nineties. You'll enjoy it in that kind of thing. I think with both movies. What is noticeable that it they didn't give harlequin top billing basically but she carries both movies completely on her shoulders. 'cause people watch suicide squad because of harleys main look in. She was portrayed new trailers everything and people went to birds of prey. Not for the birds of prey but for harley quinn. The fact that they called it the verge of prey and the emancipation of something..

"Nice all right. Billy were onto you. What introduced you. It will definitely be the tim verse. The batman animated series. I watch that forever. And i think that's amongst the best of dc comic representation on the screen anyways. I'm an enormous fan of timbers. I think it's great brevity. With batman and superman all the way through the justice league united. But i think probably what i like about her. And what i find interesting about the timbers thing is a lot of conversation today is how accurate to the comics or the movies that were watching. How true to the characters are out his cannon. Go along and i really liked the idea that the timbers was this creation factoring for characters that became beloved comic characters. But they're not from the comics. I think that's a really cool thing. And then so when you see harlequin come on in suicide squad or birds of prey. Does it have to be exactly the same as everything else has gone before. An important fact. The movies are often doing things that are way more interesting with their characters. And they sort of wind up being shoehorned into in some of the comic book moments which isn't dislike off on comics but that wealth of creative input in the different mediums does add something to the characters so you get to see with the timbers this creation i think a very fun character and then fast forward twenty five years or whatever and then you get to see margot robbie take harlequin from suicide squad. Two birds of prey. And it's just really this amazing transformation of a character. So i guess i'm within yellow in terms of falling in love. I find her very compelling character once you get to the margot robbie era. But i think she's a very fun character always around like i've slept for giant mallet that she carries around and i think it's great that they get to show that in birds of prey to. Yeah i love that giant mallet. I also love the baseball. That iconography to yeah. It's really a wonderful thing when you get to explore that. But i'm also going to speak up for the comics here. Because obviously i love what dini and tim did in terms of everything with the animated series since that was the genesis of harley on the whole but what they did in terms of the comic books with her was really an extension of what they were doing on screen that got a little darker and a little more sadistic in certain ways than it was on screen. And then when carl kessel picks up the run of harley quinn. He has harley in poison ivy. Take up together in this wonderful partnership in the comic books that i really fell in love with and i have to say in terms of my relationship to the harley quinn comic books. It wasn't until karl kessels. Start of harley quinn's adventures where there's even a sequence where harley quinn goes to hell and there's all kinds of amazing things that happen. That's what i really started to fall in love with what this character was in a larger sense and so now i feel like there are so many different people doing so many different things ravi already mentioned har- lean. We've also had the young adult novel breaking glass which is fantastic..

Maybe we'll see extended edition the awesome a deleted scene extend addition or something like that I mean they do. It is the same. It's the same Harley so it's the same joker from suicide squad. They were going to use his footage from suicide squad but they decided against actually putting him in the film You do see a version of the joker from behind and it has the same style. Same hair slicked back and everything But it's just really quick. Some people are even speculating that the animation at the beginning because the animation of parley and the joker are more classic Comic Book. They're like oh they're already doing away with jared leto joker by making this this comic Book Accurate. Looking Joker in this animation. While it's like there was not that. Co Margot Robbie never portrayed that comic book accurate Harley Quinn except for that one shot that mirrored the Alex Ross Tuxedo joker and Harley Quinn. Like that's it so you know. Margot Robbie personified that version of Harley Quinn either so like it was a stylized animation just to you know just to give you the lowdown on her character Really fast from literally conception to the time she became Harley Quinn her to once you talked about this earlier like she's telling the story she's narrating all of this so it's almost kind of like we're looking inside of her head like she sees it as a cartoon animation..
