"Last year only one thirteenth man and one of the things that i absolutely loved about utah last year was how many minutes and meaningful minutes quin snyder. Got some a. I still think there is a lot there for him to work on his decision. Making is not quite there yet. Like he's a solid fuel guy but like he he's still stops the ball a little bit and that was killer for the jazz like it wasn't all the time but there were moments where life may only gets the ball in the corner and he's a capable shooter like if somebody's closing out to him and he doesn't take the ball right away that can really negate the initial advantage created by donovan mitchell. Mike conley or whoever drives and especially for the way that utah's built. You can't do that so i think you're looking for that for me only this year but i also thought he showed some real flashes defensively that i liked last year. He just brings more athleticism. I think if the shot is there and he's capable of attacking like he can drive to the rim score room. He can do stuff as a quarter that i really like. He's somebody who. I'm high on coming into this year as a real bet on candidate and what they can do like looking at royce. O.'neil a couple years back as he started to come. In as a as an undrafted guy i wanna say was undrafted. I can't remember my apologies from wrong on that. I don't have the time to look it up right now. But i really liked how he started to integrate. And we've seen how he's become a real star in the league now. I think that that's there for miami and with more ball hanley chops and i think there's a little bit more upside for him to just as an offensive player. I'm very to see how that works. Allies hughes who was their second round draft pick out of syracuse i. He didn't play a talk for utah. Last year. he played more in the g. league. I didn't watch his dealing minutes just to be completely honest watches much because i wanted to last year. We'll probably watch more this year analysis out of school but with the logic us like he showed some real. I know he got very hyped up in the twenty twenty draft because of i. I don't mean a positive or negative. Just mean like he was hyped up because i think he led the ncaa isolation scoring efficiency. If i remember correctly he's a good size wing with some shock creation shops and ability to do that. I wanna see more from him defensively. I don't know what his playmaking is like. Because again like i haven't seen him since syracuse..

Jazz lost to the Timberwolves again, but just barely. I just wanna one. Oh, 51 ofour. That's one point that matter. Doesn't matter. It's a loss. Quin Snyder said. I saw some things I liked in this game. I'm not worried. We're bound to lose a few Donovan Mitchell is still out. It's okay. Dime. I'm manic. I'm not convinced. I think I'm off. "Be a little bit further along than now almost a year ago, 11 months ago was completely fractured like we didn't think that Rudy gobert and Donovan Mitchell were going to be able to coexist now that the best team but record wise in the NBA now again, they beat the Lakers without Anthony Davis and ask router Router, right? So it's not apples-to-apples dead. But that's not the only time they're beating and they beat everybody they beat the hell out of everybody. That's the thing that gets me. It's not just that they're you know, it's it's great feather in your cap. The wind closed case don't have to worry about them to have many close games too much dead maze. It's astonishing the victim of the number of games that they won in the stretch over with double figures by double figures is this is amazing. It's just one of the greatest ones I got to believe in the history of the league. It's like the the one sixty-eight or sixty nine games or seven. I remember when George was talking to us on the Pod and we asked him about I think you asked him about Quin Snyder. Yeah. In fact one thing that he said about Queen that will that I won't forget is is the fact that Quinn and we'll kind of hold guys accountable right? We'll we'll won't let off Rudy gobert necessarily, you know, like like he's going to make sure he puts guys in spots where they're they're going to be successful. He's not going to let guys do things necessarily that they want to do that aren't best phone number. Team, I guess what I'm trying to say is he's going to put his foot down and say no no, no like we're doing what's best for the team here not what's best for you and your contract and whatnot. I think Quincy some some shit to them. And that's what Brad doesn't have it is like we love Brad and what I don't want to get back to Brad Stevens here. I want to get on the Utah Jazz and what makes them so good and I think it is quin Snyder's ability to figure out the the, you know, the relationship between Donovan Mitchell and Rudy gobert and really really go pack the rest of the team and fractured..
Jazz beat short-handed Clips 114-96 for 9th straight win
"Rudy Gobert was a force on both ends of the court as the jazz rolled over the clippers won fourteen to ninety six for its ninth straight win the seven footer scored twenty three points pulled in twenty rebounds and drew accolades after the game from his coach Quin Snyder there's games where the box score doesn't show the things that he does tonight it did he's not trying to prove anything just plant can you just competing and he can he can lift you when he's doing that particularly on the defensive the clippers without injured stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George got sixteen points from Lou Williams mark Myers Los Angeles

"Denver Nuggets lead by one here with 10 24 to go in the first quarter. Invert, just smoked Utah in their most recent game, and then had a ball game against Detroit. Postponed due to Detroit coronavirus problems that win over Utah was 1 28 21, 17. Yokich tied his career high with 47 points. And he had the best quarter of his career with 22 points on nine of 11 shooting in the opening quarter of that ball game. It was never looked back situation for the Nuggets, who come in, obviously, with the moment, um of that wind and again winners of six of their last seven. Like are they started out of 58 for eight from the three point line in that game in the first quarter, they went 18 for 20 from the field in the first quarter. I can't imagine what Quin Snyder was saying to his team at the end of that first court. Just hang in, guys. They can't Keep shooting like this. They came pretty close for the entire first half before they finally came back to Earth. No doubt. Hey, Speaking of hot shooting peaches. That's one thing the Lakers air doing right now that has propelled them to a 16 to 6 start to their season. They're shooting the ball extremely well their top 10 in both field goal percentage, which were used to them doing, but we're not used to them, shooting it as well from the three point line last last year's Shawn they were 21 in three point percentage. This year. They've been sick so far. And surprisingly, I mean, with all due respect to the best player on the planet, LeBron James 41% taking more threes. Then he's taken at any time in his career, and he shooting.

"One more time. Come on. Come on. Here we go. Pay bump, Bump bump. Bump it out. Yeah, baby, Get into a fight over Thought notice. Freddie, eh, Fitz Simmons. I'm Freddie Coleman on ESPN Radio. The ESPN app XM Channel 80 each and every night about this time we give you a little something something it could be a rent. It could be a raid, but It's always something good that we like to call. Freddie and Fitz Simmons. The last word. My first last word is about the Shawn Watson. Maybe it's gonna be soon to be ex quarterback of the Houston Texans. Maybe he won't only time will tell him right now the future is not telling. But there's any team that should be all in to try to pry him away from the Houston Texans. That team plays for the New England area called the Patriots. If your Bill Belichick coach if you're the owner, Robert Kraft, do you really want to try to make this work in terms of building back up when it didn't work in 2020? Yeah. You'd need that one. Do that. You don't have you have a 20 years I was able to overcome any kind of missed aches and he kind of transgressions. You had as an organization. If you missed on this play if you missed on that player Oh, number 12 Tom Brady was able to make sure things are gonna keep running smoothly and be a championship contender. Bill Bell, checking the New England pages and their fan base had a chance to find out how the other half has lived for the 20 years when they were ruling through everything, especially in the Sea East. Nobody like that in New England, and I can't say I blame those in New York Jets fan. So you believe Bill Belichick that you haven't lost it? If you believe that him, I get the right kind of quarterback. I could make this work again. Then that guy's potentially out there. The pages always had the Patriot way. A big part of that is that Tom Brady was a huge huge factor and making sure that Pedro Way was going to work because of his greatness. He goes to Tampa Bay, the most weapons he's ever had in his NFL career and long behold, guess who's in the Super Bowl? And guess who's not there exactly? So if any team is thing about this John Watson and believe me, he's gonna make any team better that he goes to outside of a Kansas City, for example of teams with elite quarterbacks like that. If you don't even knowing the Patriots got to be all that in this dude. Situation like that does not come around the National Football League that happens in the MBA that happens in major league baseball, but not in the National Football League. Ah, guy in his prime with a no trade clause in his contract, and he's not even 26 years of age. You were gonna be into this General Watson sweepstakes. If you're doing the Patriots, you better be at the front of the line or 2021 22,021 22 23. And that's not going to be good if you're a person in the pages, organization or part of that fan base. We start giving so loved in New York, the Utah Jazz That's my other last words. They've won 11 in a row, longest active winning streak in the NBA. They have nice straight games with at least 15 plus threes made not attempted, made. They have made 265 threes in the month of January, the second most any calendar month in the history, the MBA. Right now. The Utah Jazz had the best record in the MBA. Yeah, we live in a land of the Lakers Dolan be M v p candidate of Philadelphia. 76 is they've been They've been terrific. No doubt about that. The Clippers were winning with that. What's gonna happen with them? The Big three with the Brooklyn Nets and boom, they're legitimate threat. How about the Utah Jazz? The guy down. The metal was fast becoming a top 10 player in the NBA. They have a terrific coaching Quin Snyder. Nobody saw that coming. They said. Wait. The Utah Jazz Hi, Quin Snyder. Guys play for Duke of the Great hair. Quin Snyder, the guy that was kicked out of disgrace when he coached Missouri. That Quin Snyder? Yeah, the same one. That's one of the better coaches right now. The MBA, and then he got Mike Conley. He's been terrific. Bogdan Bogdanovich has been unbelievable. The man that my man Jalen Rose calls the stifle tower Rudy Gobert about to be defensive player of the year once again. I know they pay the price because they don't play in New York or Chicago or L, A or Miami. But the Utah Jazz of Legit It's easy to say that Walt's early in the season Yeah, I heard that last year about the Miami Heat. What happened to Miami Heat? That's right. They made the NBA Finals. I kept telling you, that team is going to be legitimate Eastern conference and they got all the way before they ran into those boys in Los Angeles, The Utah Jazz all the jet, The West is a minefield. There's no doubt about that. Like you to you to sleep on the Utah Jazz. Nadine, if it forget about Donovan Mitchell continue. Forget about how it's really This team has been so far in the month of January. They may want to be a surprise to you. Because I'm telling you now, you shouldn't be surprised. They college it They are. They're talented and they are a threat. Whether you want to hear that, or not, or whether you want to believe that or not. Freddie Common. "Steve Kerr. Yeah. Hi Quin Snyder Quin Snyder. If you had some horrible fix, I'm really disappointed phenomenal picks. You guys get some sleep. I had some phenomenal picked. It's way past boards Ella's bedtime the last time Jeff borzello stayed up this late. 11:45, Priscilla. When's the last time you took yesterday for what fantasy football? Yeah. I think it was something that was on the night game. You must have lost thirteen year 14 leagues that that unbelievable. I mean, well, I will say I'm alive into Survivor leagues heading into next week. That's yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. All right. All right back in Salvage my entire fantasy year next year next year humble. We're going to bring you into a different pool. So Scott, Martin won't get in trouble. Whatever. We're going to keep him clean, but we'll bring you in another Pool where you can you can potentially win some money and oh by the way, whoever finishes last name, it's not going to be doing something as it's going to be a lot more humiliating a lot more embarrassing than checking a beer every lap. I think it's I think it's funny to make them dress up in like a masters caddy bib. Carry my clubs. Good good punishment. It is good. I would I think I would make you dress up a lot worse though, if if but if you did that and like and like a Vegas golf course. Yeah. I mean that's that's like torture. It's like a hundred twenty degrees and you're wearing like full pants and the whole deal that's brutal know. What would be more brutal is making caramel, you know have to do it in like a speedo. That would be like that. My brother had a league where they were doing. The loser had to go do stand-up comedy and that would be great that stuff. Karaoke, That would be tough to although I did win the rookie challenge of the Timberwolves. Karaoke Hey song that I probably couldn't say anymore remix to ignition by our KO Meri song though. It's a great song of worms. So yeah, it was good. They made you do that. We're at in Mankato Minnesota me off as Muhammad ghori. Dang had all sing. Karaoke was great bass Kabobs in China. He is. Way through I miss most of it but I didn't see people calling you a dumbass for Sean Miller. Yeah, I've seen David give me a lot of credit for being alive and Survivor. So I'm pretending that the other stuff never happened and I'm just I'm just change it now. I love the way I can't wait till Dodge Dart Clips out some of the some of the stuff from this. I love I love my man stands shock saying that I had to go call the Alaska Bible League is Sean Miller is not the worst pick-up this pod. No not even close. Of course. It was not even close. Who's worse Steve Kerr Quin Snyder know they're all over Syracuse pitino's the walk quite far. Yeah. That was that was a pretty bad one. I'm going to have to confer with some people on this one, that's fine. All right, goodnight boys. Thanks for thanks for doing this brisela. We appreciate it. Thanks for your offer you some entertainment after Michigan State certainly failed to do so tonight. I'm going to bed. Goodnight boys later later..

"They both have grown over it, Jack. I really have so sometimes out of a horrific situation, at least for Rudy and maybe Donovan, they've grown as men. And they understand, I think maybe what they're who they are and what they represent on maybe even have a better appreciation for life in the game of basketball, So you don't look at that as an issue. Moving Fowler between go, Baron Mitchell, right. No, I don't. I think it's I think it's behind them. I think they've made it clear. Ah, Donovan. Didn't you know he spoke once? And it was the fact that he didn't want to drag this into the social media platforms. And, you know, I applaud him, but against silence sometimes fuels more rumors and so My gut tells me the body language on the floor last night and in the three scrimmages. I don't I don't see it in fact and scrimmage two against Miami, all four of his assists. I want to go there, and Rudy likes to have that ball on top of the rim and Donovan founded on he had a 20 point night so Ah, I think they're both on the same page, and I think they've also been led very well by Quin Snyder, the head coach who has had I think he has the ability to really get down and dirty and just say, Let's put this on the table and figure it out. Does. What's best for the team really is what it's all about. So Donovan and Rudy to move forward in the jazz moving forward, those two of you have had to put it behind them. Craig Bhola Jack. When we look at Bogdanovich's not being there because of the risk surgery, how did they replace his presence? Well, you hard bogey was a huge acquisition in the off season, you know, 20 points a night, 41%. From outside. He's a good finish or better than I thought. I think we all kind of were locked into him just being a three point guy, But he's a stronger player than I thought and a finisher at the rim. So what Quinn Snyder has done. In the scrimmages and exact what we saw last night. He's going with, uh, you know, the four guard lineup with Rudy of the post and you're seeing Jordan Clarkson play a bigger role here is the sixth man that the Jazz got from Cleveland. For Dante Xom. Uh, Mike Conley, I think has finally gotten into better rhythm and M or in a more comfortable state of mind after playing to 12 years in Memphis. I think it doesn't. I think I finally understand. He doesn't have to have a ball in his hands the entire night like he did in Memphis. He's got ball handlers alongside of them. And Donovan. He's got ball handlers and Joe Ingles. He also has a ball handler and Jordan Clark's and so what we saw last night was four guards playing a lot of minutes together, trying to up the tempo, forcing turnovers and also knocking down threes. If you're not hot from outside, and you have to adjust. But last night, the Jazz had AH, hot start a cold middle and they finish strong and I think we'll continue to see this kind of lineup from the Jazz is as the seating games continue on Was I in last night? They only played in 15 minutes. I understand. Load management. I understand. Managing the minutes when you're fighting for a playoff spot. Could you give me 18? Could you? Maybe 20? I'm not asking for 35 40 but only 15 minutes that I thought that was Ah, Bad job by by the by the pelicans last night. Yeah, I was surprised to Zach. Alvin Gentry. Just kind of let him Ah, he called them. I'm going to give in first minutes and he would go for and then rest and 03 and he had seven at the half, and they really kind of disappeared in the fourth quarter. You know, I'll be honest. That was a big loss for the pelicans. There were 3.5 out. Of the Grizzlies right, so they lose, and now they start to have to run uphill in a very crowded chase for that final playoff spot in the Western Conference, so The Jazz was a huge win to start because they're trying to chase down Denver for the three and also hold off Oklahoma City who started last night, a game out of the four spot behind Utah. So That was a big one for Utah and a big loss for the pelicans. All these games that will impact right and that's gonna be the beauty of why. I think a lot of fans or back tuning in tow. Watch these games. Ah, A game's really in the world of the N B. A is, you know is in a lot of basketball. And so whoever hit that ground running on finds that groove and some confidence early is ah No make surprising people. Greg Bhola Jack Before we let you run. We get in that conversation of seating, and how important is it with no home court advantage? Is there a team when you look at these potential matchups in the play offs that maybe Utah wants to avoid? Oh, boy, I tell you, they've always had struggles with harden. And now they've got Westbrook so I think if he really got down to it, people would say, keep the Rockets away. If you had to play, Oklahoma City is a 45 That's doable, but what it does it sets you up with a second round matchup, most likely with LeBron and the Lakers taken sidestep. The the Ellen teams and they could jump into a three spot that would be the most probably. The best scenario for the Jazz to jump into a second round playoff matchups. So, um, you know if they get to three, I think that's the goal if they stay it for the live with it. They don't want to drop and find themselves in a position to have to take on. You know the Clippers. Oh are the Lakers if they would have some real struggles and even dropped down to the eighth spot, so If they can stay where they are Zach or even jumped three. We'll see how your kitchen the nuggets play. Um, I think that's the best case. I don't think anybody wants to play LeBron. Or Kawai. Quite a game Last night. No. Two points separated those two teams and LeBron's on another mission as his father. Time continues to chase him down, but LeBron keeps running away from him. It's an amazing thing to watch Last one for you if you can't take Milwaukee in the East. Is there a team that you like? Oh, my gosh. How about just Toronto Sneaking in and you know, I say there, David Great. It's It's unbelievable. Yeah, I tell you I most teams would just falter. I think after you lose Kawai and all the hype And the disappointment of him leaving and going west. But I got to give a lot of credit. They've done a marvelous job to stay put together, and I think they're on a mission themselves to prove That it just wasn't a Kawai championship. It was it was about team and there's something to be said about team. You know, we lose track of that. Sometimes that we think millionaire players just play individually. No, I'll put the Jazz in the same category of Toronto. They have their own mission. Oklahoma City's burned deep in their brain. They they went through their own hell on March 11th and You know, Zach? Honestly, I think teams that find that extra motivation in this bubble and econ mentally stand up to the stress of being away for upwards of 3.5 months. Um, maybe those two teams are in the forefront of just a mental. Oh, they've already been through the mental test of the right, so we'll see where they go from here. But I think Toronto it's not onto the combo in the Bucks. I'm interested to see how Toronto response to Greg Bowler, Jack. Good Health. Good luck. Have some fun doing these games. We appreciate it exact anytime. Take care yourself. 20 past the hour set help show on.

And Andy now. You cannot look for a president of basketball operations, but you have to have a coach. Yeah. And so they are officially in the market for a new head coach. And it'll be interesting to see if they go after anybody who currently has a job if they only go up, you know, because then it would necessitate maybe waiting till the end of the play offs like the guy would love them to get its Quin Snyder. But the problem is you'd have to give up an asset.

"And Devon Booker taken all the shots, and he scores fifty nine and then he's trying to get to sixty at the end of a blowout. And Utah's fouling other guys to keep him from getting to sixty and he didn't get to sixty. And so who's side? Do you take on that one? If you have to pick a side in terms of who's Lamer the sun's losing by thirty scoring fifty nine points trying to get to sixty for no good reason other than it's a round number or the Utah Jazz preventing him by fouling somebody else. I know you're not getting to sixty on. I mean, like, I don't have a problem with either of them, right? And. And the funny thing to me is the outrage that people have about him frying score points. What does he supposed to do try win? Well, no. But but the games already over there down thirty. It's the fourth quarter. I might as well get yours. You wanna try harder than fifty nine points. Right. Like what what else does he supposed to do? And the thing is whenever you hear about players scoring in lost. Right. Your mind travels to well. He was just ball hogging out there. But his first of all he was incredibly efficient and a shots came within the fall of the office. It wasn't him going one on five and decking up shots. He was taking shot that he's supposed to take in the full the offense and doing well. And so I don't have a problem with him hunting that Mark. And another problem with Utah, say not on our watch. But the outrage is the part that makes me laugh people. Oh, his bat sportsmanship. What's he supposed to do? Not shoot. Not score. Right Lee lose by forty. Maybe I don't know my issues with Utah. There. It really is like. Understand Devon Booker. I really do try being selfish. Lord knows I understand that and going and trying to get his sixtieth point Utah. Really like, that's where you draw the line at sixty it gave up fifty something to them. I mean, really fifty nine I love the idea does Utah to put this on the on the poll. Guillermo does Utah. Do the Utah Jazz have the credentials to hit you with a not on our watch. Because they're good at defense. It's about the only thing they're good at they're playing very well. A lot of people were very high in them, meaning to cede. Now, they're up there would be the two seat in the west. We'll right now the five seat in the west. I mean the plane a lot better in the second half. And how many games back take a look at that Utah is just a game two and a half back of the three seats though. I mean wasn't that far off that up? You're not that far off. But are they like are they the team think about this? What difference? Does it make that Utah would be out here saying not on our watch? The Devon Booker sixty. That's what I'll tell you why. Because any Johnson my buddy he was calling the game for the sons and he said because the game was out of hand. Right. The crowd started cheering for Devon book. They he turned the crowd. They actually started cheering. They wanted. Like you at Carrie, okay? He is an entertainer. Exactly. And Quin Snyder apparently took umbrage to the fact that the home crowd was not. Kind of just trying to boot when stop them that they were relishing in this this feet. And so that's why he kinda got petty on. I wanted to do is assume soom zoom and it boom, boom. We talked to the rapper action Bronson his story's really interesting, and he's a huge hordes fan..

"And this is part of the problem a little bit of problem with LeBron and I won't Librado my team any day. But you're then what happens if you hire a coach for the one guy who doesn't need the coach. But the other thirteen guys need a coach, right? Like late Brandon Ingram needs a coach push back on him some. Yeah. No, no, no. I think ties a championship. Coach really good. It'd be really interesting. You know, it'd be interesting here being interesting, and I'm not saying this is who they should hire. But like I would like them to at least considering go to the process with a guy like Darvin ham. Okay. You're talking about Mike Putin holders. Number one assistant in the last two guys that have that job. Kenny Atkinson Quin Snyder. All right, by the way, he's been his on his staffer six years has Laker bona vide. So you get you your purple and gold, right? Check the box a guy who is tough like who will say LeBron you're coming out. He's not going to be scared. I mean guys got shot in the cheek before. Right. I mean, you know, Diarmid has a tough guy knows what player development staff looks like. Yes. Right. Because that's all they do with Mike buttonholes. As is developed developed develop. I don't know that he's the right hire. And obviously if LeBron's like, I don't want that guy. I mean, you don't do it. But I that would be interesting. I I'd like to take a look at Monty Williams. A look, I don't know that Monti's views money for sure. But like go outside the, hey seal of approval LeBrun James just a guy that, you know, had a great career as a point guard kind of thing, and they just, but in other words, they need to have a conversation with Ron that's honest. That says they're thirteen guys who do need to cook. You don't need a coach. Right. But we need these guys. This is going to be your team on the flipside, Doc Rivers. I've said last year that I thought it was one of his top three coaching jobs..

I'm trying to remember do we always gonna be negative or is there somebody else they quick? It did with their somebody else that he had action. They had if he had any connections where the guys in New Orleans before he left New Orleans. Maybe there was the only guy was p Carmichael junior three years. Now is not even a name that's mentioned. So I doubt karma. Wasn't Frank rights name mentally because he had a connection because he was out there. Who's the coach defensive coordinator for the for? The patriots wasn't wasn't speak Daniels was the name that everyone was thrown out. He's right. Don't just hire your friend. What if you went to you and said, hey this dude over here? I'm your higher never know, Sean pay. It's not like this is from years and years ago when when he played for guard Iowa State, you know, let let's the head coach at all. Was why he came here array came here with employees. Tim forties lasted since believe that. And I just don't understand that you're able to conduct searches that way, you're the crossroads of your franchise unifying out with tips. You still think you have a roster good enough to contend? So this is the biggest moment for the front office. And then you you essence failed with your next head coach hiring without conducting a search, isn't that a fireable offense? Yeah. He did seem to check the boxes at the time though. I know you really. This state program was playing well until they crack down on the first round of the tournament and Brad Stevens and Quin Snyder, we're having some success already. So he kinda you were like success last night as well. Yes. They did you stay and watch that it was at blow. From front to back. It was you all. One. I watched most lasts knows the Houston game. That was a good one for Houston on the road. And then six in her all up for later game. No. Yeah. It was such a blog. I did my eyes and false. But I kept waiting for the in the second half. I think the Celtics had a twenty four twenty six point lead at the half something like that. I kept waiting in the third quarter for the warriors to go on this big run. And they never cut it to below seventeen before we go via run down. What you guys got coming up on the show? I have to tell you that if the bulls do get the first round pick the first overall pick in the first round. Yeah. Communists, taking shape..

I think you do a good job. He's doing a good job in Utah. Now, I like Winston. Greg mentioned. Okay. Here's another one. Okay. One everywhere. He's been. Yup. Rick pitino. No, no. He did not win win. It didn't win the NBA. He wanted New York. All right. How about this one John Calipari? No, no, thanks. No. I'm david. He's good coaching kids yet. But I think coaching grow. Think about who coach share. Who else did he coach Randall? Randall who else? What name can I not Davis? There you go. Yeah. I just don't know. I think it's very tricky. The number of guys that translate. We think of money from college from college to NBA. I mean, the one success that I can think of currently in the league is Brad Stevens. And he's really having a tough time. That's the way that coaching is going in general in every sport going younger guys that are offensive right? My younger assistance to their playing career, not necessarily college coaches, right? But they they ended up working he worked. I think Jay Wright could be that guy. That's going to work as well. So I wanna throw some note Amani Williams. Yeah. Yeah. Not money Williams. Okay. So where did this? Go wrong is the question. Yeah. That's a good question. All right. I can trace it. Okay. Good. Okay. Yeah. Do you remember where the Lakers were in the standings on Christmas day? Yeah. They were they twenty and fourteen fourth in the west, right? Okay. And they lacked the warriors by twenty eight but LeBron got hurt. The minute. Lebron got hurt. Everything went downhill when you say where did it go wrong? This team was not built to win without LeBron. And so they went into a slide then Lonzo got hurt. Now, kouzmines hurt and Ingram's heard..

Yeah. They're playing on the beach. But there's a widow a very attractive. Widow. Jennifer O'Neill her. Her husband gets killed in World War Two. Oh, and she invites one of the boys in to console her is it safe. And there's a point to console point. Whereas the movies ramping up. My parents actually huddled on the bed. Yeah. I distinctly. Remember this? They huddled on the couch. And they discuss they whispered. And then my dad said you're gonna have to go to bed nets. What do you mean? I'm watching the movie can't watch this console. Mrs robinson. There was an official consoling. Yeah. I mean, you gotta comfort people sometimes the song data de. Yeah. He gets in eight Jennifer O'Neill was smoking hot. It was a hell of a constellation. Yeah. There's a hell of a consoling I should say like fifty and it was a whole trend back then because Dustin Hoffman in the graduate. He was consoling. Mrs robinson. Yeah. It was more of a disaffected suburban she was a predator. Yes. She was a predator. She got her hooks. At Dawson was dean warmers wife, there's another predator but in summer forty two it's more of a coming of age type. You know, how we got on now? Bob Reed roots L Bob Rae. The Brady bunch thing sent to bed. Generates February sports talk radio guys back to the warriors. Who won last night? Paulie mac? Is it official is it safe? They were down in the fourth quarter by five final score. Golden State Warriors one fifteen Utah, Jazz one eight. Can we talk? Andrea dollar for a moment. All the sixth man of the year. Yeah. We can talk about having his best year as a warrior. I want him in this. I want him. I if under serious consideration for six man of the year this year at age thirty five and now if you're a plus minus copes is one of these people says believing the cumulative plus my yoki. Us to eighty seven. Yeah. When he's on the floor. Good things happen to agree. Having a tremendous year and Steve Kerr just took time to gush about. Don't forget the whole dynasty started. Because Andrea dollar accepted his bench. That's how the entire that set. Started. So here's current Andre. Yeah. I just think, you know, Andres thirty five he's in great shape. He's done done. It all these. When finals MVP's been all star champion some point. You get kinda later on in your career, and you're playing with house money a little bit. And I think that's I think Andres enjoying himself this year. He's just having fun not thinking too much and just playing and he's showing why he's one of the best athletes in the world net. Thirty five to move the way he does and he's earned it. He takes care of himself as well as anybody I've ever seen. So he's having a I've been saying that you guys have heard me say this for a while. Now, he's just having a fantastic season. One of the best athletes in the world is what he said. That's fantastic. I just showed probably the pictures. Good silent. Let me say that's Candice. Bob there there you go to Niko. But anyway, it's great stuff for Andre to Necas so excited. She's coming in. Oh here. It is right here. What do you think? What do you think? Yeah. Do you know the character? Oh, she doesn't know the move. Should check them out. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Snooty Bucci's was what he was Bucci's, dude. Yes. He's forgot about that. She she actually dialogues Nucci Bucci's, and my dialogue bubble is. She's a good Jay. She's definitely a good. Looking Jay, that's a real hair it there too. So here's not that long. Any more me, buddy? You're all business right there. Yeah. I'm a little frightened. Actually. I know he looks mean looks like Bob was was very kind of stoic. Yes. He was less mean than steel. I mean. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, the warriors getting less Bowie. Klay Thompson with a dislocated finger. You see the photo of it and everybody reacted his reaction to it was so chill my fingers, bent, the wrong way back into place. This back in so I can play how does he go? But he went back and play. He's he's he's a he's a total gamer is has he only missed the one game this year. It was the mysterious fluid got against not that mysterious dude. Everyone's getting it. So, but that's it. That was like the only game. He's as far as I know. It's the only game he missed all year. Yes. Thank you. Right. Yeah. And cops you said that we had some Kevin Durant sound on DeMarcus cousins who is now routinely on the floor at the end of games. They're sitting Andrea and playing DaMarcus, and here's a Kevin Durant on DeMarcus other. We're still figuring out how we're gonna play and be effective. What each other on office aside shots are gonna come from? You know, what I think that we are going to good job of mixing up to the shots. And touches, you know, everybody's getting involved. I think I think because it's still getting his legs up under. He's got. Been alone the paint force. But it's going to be a time where your start knocking down those threes. They look great leaving his hand. But they just lost short. No. But I think after the break relax a little bit figured out where he's at as a player. I think he's gonna come back. Even better f- go getting his legs come back after the break. It said he listening to Katie. And and looking at him what sixteen in nineteen from mid range is last two games. Nice ball game. Yeah. I'm gonna miss that guy. When he's in New York, I'm gonna I'm gonna miss that. God get us another one before you leave. Katie get us one more don't even worry about it. Bye. Once again, my I'm the king of factual inaccuracy. Lavar Burton played Kuta can take my bat. Bob redo, I don't know. But it wasn't Ben very he I'm gonna tell you. So Beth Ben vereen was in it, though, wasn't he in routes. But he wasn't Kuntar. I thought he was Kuta. Okay there. Yes. The okay, we're all straight. Yeah. We're trying to figure it out where all I've seen it in like forty years five says ever any level. You are not an athlete if you haven't dislocated finger taped together and went back in. Okay. "I'm curious about overall, and I'm curious for your opinion on this. And it goes a little bit back to what I was saying about this. You know, it's it's it's the NBA chicken and egg question, you know, are you great because of your players are you players great because of you and. And how does that work? Whether it's talking defense, offense, whatever but defense in particular matters because we have often like fetish is the idea of like the defensive coach if your coach has great defensive schemes and emphasizes defense demands defense, and whatever than you are going to be a great defensive team and the proof of that with Tibbs was that in Chicago that five-year run was characterized mostly by elite defense, and I always thought. Well, okay. That's fine. That's true. But are we giving too little credit to the fact that joke him Noah at that time was not only the perfect guy to be the anchor for Tibbs defensive schemes just as Garnett was in Boston. But no, it was a great defender in his prime when a very versatile and Mobil one. And then you have him and the wall dang, and Taj Gibson, you had guys who could meet those demands and carry out that scheme, and so you know, was too much credit given to Tibbs than and not the players, and are we now the other end of the pendulum here where maybe tips is obviously taking the blame. Name. But maybe it was maybe maybe it was the players in both cases. It's always both. Right. Like, it's always both like if you ever really go bear. That's awesome. You gotta build scheme around Rudy. Go baron. Quin Snyder has been smart about doing that the way they guard corner shooters, and all that, you know, there is a line of thought that there's not a line of thought, it's it's a very popular line of thought that Tibbs was unwilling to evolve, you know, didn't like switching wanted to still overload the floor like he did in Boston. I actually think that wasn't one hundred percent fair to him. Like, I I don't think they played the strong side zone. The same way he did in Boston or Chicago. I think evolved a little bit and towns wasn't ready. Like most young big men aren't to be an elite defensive player. You know? Like what Joel Embiid is doing at his age, given his experience level is like an anomaly, it's completely special. But I think some of that stuff is true in just like he couldn't get these guys to be even an average defensive team. And and part of that is imparted that is the players as always both as a boring answer. But But. it's always both. I think there are like I think we know by now there are like four coaches in the whole league who moved needle who really really moved the needle. And I think we know who those guys are in. There are probably two or three who moved the needle the other way because they're so bad and everyone else is just kinda like at the mercy of their players, and we thought Tibbs is in the first group, and maybe he's in the the middle group..

And and I that's not my belief, and there's always something wrong with something. And but the the opportunity for kids to be seen by the three hundred fifty three division. One. College coaching staffs should not be messed with like their thousands of kids out there who want to be seen, and we should look at we can work with the elite players, obviously and give them USA or whatever the heck you're gonna give but eighty you gave all these kids and opportunity to be seen, and I worry about that as soon as it came out. And they talked about June. And I don't know exactly how I think it's eliminated certain groups certain schools that can't put them on. And I'm just saying like, what are we doing? You know, what we did June thing does doesn't seem right? You know in what we're what we're doing? And I it's almost like. Instead of having a m b we had to put c and d and there as far. Yeah. Yeah. No, I, and you know, I'd rather. And so would I s the army coach go to an a weekend to go someplace where I can see if I'm the army coach or many of the mid major will major division ones. They wanna see a lot of kids they'll sit in the gym or gyms all day. And and and that's what they do. And they we should give them the opportunity to that one kid and the exorb- Jim at eight PM on Saturday night that you know, you see say I've loved that kid, and we don't have to do that at our level. But hundreds of coaching staffs have to do that. And I think we're robbing the opportunity for those kids to be seen and the staff's the Sam, and I I I don't think that that's good. No. I completely agree with you. It's your seemed like change for the sake of change. Not yet, the betterment in my in my opinion last question for you coach before I let you go on this is completely off topic. But at this stage in your career, you have a long list of former players who are now head coaches. How important is your coaching tree to you in terms of your legacy? And who of you particularly been impressed with and proud of you know, it's not just DiPoto ching trait. Work Quin Snyder, Tommy Tucker, Johnny Dawkins. Whoa. Joe, Chris, you know, all these guys are all over the place and doing while Bobby Hurley who didn't coach here, but played here. I'm really proud of them. But also proud of the guys that got into management in the NBA who are working as a system or or managers who are video coordinators. Are we have a lot of people in in basketball? And I love the. Fact that while they were here, they weren't to love the game more, and they chose it as a profession, and I'm very proud of that. I'm also proud of the fact that my former players bond together, you know, it's my thirty ninth year. So I have a lot of former players, but we do a bunch of things to make sure that they interact and they're the ones who formed this what they call a brotherhood. And and it is it is and I'm proud of that. And I love the guy I I've had great guys here too. And I've had great guys that army and to maintain those relationships of and his. Is very important to me and my family and my family. I'm sure it's pretty rewarding coach I really appreciate your time. And thank you for jumping on the show. Thanks.
