"The rocket mortgage Quicken Loan studios. Is my basement. The man cave? Does anybody used the word seller anymore? That's what we called it. When I was growing up in my house in beautiful downtown Yonkers, New York my water would tell me go down the cellar and get whatever it was she needed getting so I would run down and he didn't have to go down the cellar stairs. At some point I began to call the basement. Maybe when I moved out on my own house, it became my basement. Ah, being very 21st century. By from time to time called the Man Cave With the girls in my house. There are absolutely positively invited to come down at any point that they want, except when I'm on the air and used thesixty for inch flat screen TV or whatever dimension it is. I'm not sure exactly the size. They bought it for me two Christmases ago. S o. I don't know exactly how big it is. All I know is it's big and I can see all my sports plenty. Fine, But I'm coming to you live from my basement. My cellar. My man came. Call it what you want. And I have been doing so since March. And from March on, we've had to do combo shows basically every single weekend here on CBS portrayal for a period of time They cut me back to one day weekend. Back doing two days each and every single weekend for you. This is the Saturday night words. You and I will be here tomorrow. Couple hours would act Couple hours on my own. Both Saturday and Sunday, your weekend warrior on CBS Sports Radio. Luckily the last couple of weeks, the combo show that we've been doing which of course, includes sports. And the state of our country. And where we branched out and done more than sports has been twofold. One more so than the other the pandemic that we're continuing to deal with, and started to get our first wave of Feelings on how it's going to affect our country way back in March and the coffee's social justice around this country, which had been a major topic of conversation on the station for good Period of time with Charlie hasn't gone away. But, um everyone now is waiting to see how the results of this upcoming election is going to go. And if our country will change Because of that election, we shall see that still weeks away. But we once again need to return to talking about dealing in the covert world in which we live because it has had effects on the world of sports. And, most specifically the National Football League for Gay Mackin tomorrow. We're still at that stage of the season where there are no buy games. No bye weeks. For those of you who are crazy enough to watch the Thursday night affair between the Broncos in a jet. It was entertaining. It was not high quality and my jets just flat out stink. We are absolutely in the Trevor mode. Ah for a potential new quarterback. Although I feel so bad for Sam Donald, he doesn't have enough weapons. Their offensive line. They tried to reshape, dirty offseason short affecting got hurt the other night. It is a bad for party. And they lost to a bed for Paul team in the Broncos. But we had 15 games thereafter for the rest of the week scheduled were only on play 13. At least up until Sunday. This deal is in the Titans have already been postponed because of the major amount of positive tests by Tennessee this week, so they have rescheduled that for week seven I don't know if voted teams had by weeks. They will juggle games if they have to. But that is when that game has been rescheduled for, and we found out today that the Sunday night game The Patriots were scheduled to play in cancer it against the Chiefs has also been postponed, but not pushed back near a Sfar. The Texan. Still, his game is going a couple weeks down the road. They are hoping Tentatively believing that he keeps in. The Patriots can still play this week, but not Sunday. Possibly Monday. More likely Tuesday. I've seen several report is suggests that it would more likely be Tuesday than Monday, but that is not firm either. We don't know. The Steelers and it's going to be the Patriots and keeps schedule. It is still TBD to be determined. So they've already had one game pushback. There stood me. They've already had two games pushed back one several weeks. One could be several days. For those who believed That we had completely and I'm just judging by my callers, people that I know friends, family, anybody. You you entered twine with on a day in weekend week out basis. Some people believe that Damn, we got this thing knock. That was good that we fought is a country to get through this, And now that we are, we could go back to livin Arla. No. Flat out. No. What more proof do you need than having the president of the United States need to be helicoptered off to Walter Reed Hospital? Because he has tested positive for corporate 19. In the midst of an election and say this about Donald Trump. He's a competitors, and he desperately wants to continue as president of the United States. Anyone who watched the Debate between he and Joe Biden. The other night knows how badly each of these guys want to be president that they threw the rules of decorum right out the window. Um If he was not ill, hey, would not have been would not have allowed them to a helicopter him out of the White House today, so he's legitimately ill with the Corona virus. I'm not going to get off on a political tension and talk about how it's handled, and now it's handled by him is his people, The media or anything else? Just Say a prayer for the president say a prayer for anyone who has had to deal with the flu that is infested this country. Hopefully, it's something that you could recover from quickly and we can have an election. A zit is scheduled for sometime in early November. I looked at my ballad My Mail in ballot, which I received this week today. Didn't fill it out yet. There's no reason to because we've got a month to go before you have to take it to your polling place or wherever they're collecting ballots and or if you are a fan of Ah John Q mail and you believe that that will be handled well, I mostly do. But why had another party to the Procedure. I'm just going to drop it off in the newness palate in my town, and I said Do I really want a boat? I know some of the people that I'm definitely voting in some case, something drastic changes. I know I'm going to look for in Sam bloody spot, but the presidential I'm gonna hold off. We don't know if it's going to go off as scheduled. We already know it's going to be changed, as it usually is. Because of the need for asses. Many write in ballots is there are It seems like that's the way the country is going, so I'm going to play along. I could vote in my regular voting spot, which is a school that is basically across the street and down a path from where I live. But you've got to go to more procedures. You gotta bring in your mail invalid. If your question one which my wife wife requested one for me and my daughter. On Then you have to sign off on not voting by mail. Just a boat in person. Now that I got the ballot, I'm gonna vote. And I'm not roading tonight. Even though I Abbott I wanna wait Number one and number two. The held to the president of the United States is in question because the pandemic is still very much in play. In our country. For you. Key fans, you Patriot fans, You're still.

"We're coming to you live from the rocket mortgage by Quicken Loan Studios. When you need certainty and the whole buying process with alone that fits your life. Rocket can I watched more college football yesterday and then I thought I would. I just happen to be home but was having a lazy day after I went out and ransom. Ah, errands in the morning. I I came back home was kind of having a lazy day and some of the games Ronald watching Notre Dame and Duke. I watched a little bit of Florida State. There was another game that I thought I was checking out two members back and forth. Forget which game it was. But I was watching and In kind of a shock to see People in the stands. I'm still confused by this. First of all the whole college football thing, at least for now, maybe gets better in a couple of weeks where you have better matchups. I mean, these games were dreadful. And maybe I'm just bothered because I'm in this pool with my buddy. Actually, my buddy Jimmy, trainer from Sports Illustrated. I'm his friend through this college football Pickem pool where you just pick five games on your own and you be, you know, throughout the season and you add up the records at the end of each month, and each month you win. Well, I started Oh, and freakin five. How is that possible? I mean, bio, Syracuse and our North Carolina's You're the game. How is that even possible? Actually, no, I didn't watch that game. It would have been a different game because I don't think it could find that game. But anyway, I had Notre Dame. I had Syracuse, Florida State, Clemson, and none of them could cover Terrible good thing. I wasn't actually betting on these games for real. Anyway, I was watching. Some of the college football games, trying to see and get a fuel for it. It certainly does not feel the same overall, you just don't feel the same energy at least not for me. That I would if everything were up and running as usual. And who knows again? What's going on with the big 10 if they decide to Started back up in a couple of months or so, You know, I can't keep track of all that's going on here. And these games were just dreadful games. But I'm watching it thinking to myself. How come they can have fans? In Florida State or Notre Dame, but we can't across the NFL. War. Major league baseball for that matter. It doesn't make sense. You can't just say Oh, you've got to stay with the people you room with and sit in that section. I mean, come on, and you have to wear a mask. You finally get what a mess, But then why couldn't they do that? In Atlanta or New York. For California. Why are there different rules in place in the same country as Faras fans attending sports games? I've thought the whole point was in the midst of a pandemic. We weren't supposed to have mass gatherings. And even if it's an a You know, huge stadium that could see 80,000 or whatever the numbers are. Even if you have 20,000 people that's still a large gathering of people. I thought it was weird with the Chiefs as well. But I found it even more bizarre watching college football games. With fans. In the crowd or in the stadium. And just this whole college football season. I was even telling trainer you know about the college football amount into it this year. I don't know what's going on with college. Usually I fly blind as it is. With college football, but this year in particular Who knows? I mean, I hope the games do pick up in a couple of weeks. Before that schedule goes. Cause these games were dreadful. Where's the appealing match up just looking at next week's slate? And I was following a couple of tweets. People like Oh, the top 20 five's gonna be comical this year yet is or this week. It is That is a joke. The teams that we got playing Oh, big matchup next weekend. Clem's inverse citadel? Yeah, that'll be a fun one. I don't know. It's hard for the college football season essentially is ruined. I'm not tryingto. You know? Rain on anybody's parade here or diminish or try to take away from your enjoyment. If that's your thing If you were in awaiting you watching Notre Dame football yesterday and You know it. You got all pumped up. I just The whole vibe to me. I could not get into it. Found it bizarre. Couple other happenings in the world of sports Other than football as we've been focused on, we'll get back to that in a minute, 855 to 124227855 to 1 to 4 CBS. You had the Lakers that starts on a little bit briefly earlier. Lakers eliminate the Houston Rockets, which you would think would be the end of an era there. Now, who knows what the future holds? Maybe Jeff Van Gundy. Goes back to coaching in Houston and Levitt that's been rumored he lives there. He was the Rockets coach previously. I don't know what's gonna happen with D'Antoni. But the Rockets after getting out to a one games and on lead one games on lead winning game one in that series, with the Lakers, similar to what the boys is dead. They lose four straight and that just can't happen. I mean the rockets. Well, you may not have expected him to win the Siri's. They need to be more competitive, and not only that they won't competitive in the serious they get smoked in these games. We're getting smoked. No. Don't 15 in the first quarter..

"Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loan Studios when you need certainty in the home buying process with alone that fits your life. Rocket. Can I appreciate rocket mortgage and all that they've done? Helping to support the network and support the show today. And James doing a great job running the show today, James, We only have an hour to get everything in here. Doing a one hour to go. To get everything into the show This incredible This is quite a quick little jaunt today as we get through it. I was very ah, Mad Verte Ram was that's an underrated conversation. I really enjoyed that last arm. I hope that you enjoyed it, too. You can get in on the phone lines Any time during the last hour of the show. I will try to do my best to get to you at 855 to 1 to four, CBS. 855 to 1 to four, CBS so final hour of the show. Again Interesting there with home field advantage. I wonder. If if you were going to jump up and You're like the snake. You're the snake in the grass. You're waiting to, you know, bite at the heels. Is this year year to do it? Is a year when you do it is when Arrowhead is gonna have what 15,000 people in it. Is this year year too, If a New Orleans team and you just heard Matt Talkabout it is, eh is one of his. You know, favored teams in the NFL is this the year though? Hey, you want to play Who Dat nation When you don't have to worry about the fans being a big issue, I would seem logical to me. That would seem logical. The fact that you know this is the year maybe where it doesn't matter as much. Maybe where we see a more neutral field NFL We find out about that. I'm going to miss that. My daughter and I do a dad daughter Eagles trip every year, and I'm going to miss that big time. I'm gonna miss fans in college football Stadium's, too. Thankfully, three of the power five are still playing. And So I I'm going to miss. I'm going to miss the fans, but I wonder how much it's going to affect on field product. And he had a really, really good point there about the fact that It probably affects defense a hell of a lot more, You know, teams that are defensive specialists at home. It affects them more than offensive teams. So much is, you know, distracting. The offense beat, making it noisy for the offense, making it hostile for the offense, and it's not going to be that way this year. Mark in Ohio joins us Mark What's going on, brother? Hey, I called in on that segment. It was funny. It was before your email or you mentioned your email. So ah, Ohio Guy State guy. Guy of the Marine Corps went back. Got my bachelor's degree. God bless you, by the way for your service. Thank you very much for that. Well, thank you. Uh, but I know some people still in the program affiliated. Um Rumor is and it's speculation, of course, but that Commissioner Warren Was all kind of a political thing, and he thought the power of the big Bang and money That if they were the first cancel everybody follow soon. Yes. OK, I guarantee the arrogance. Yes, they thought arrogantly that every other conference was just going to bow it. They're they're great knowledge, but the science didn't back them up. And that's what's funny about that. Because His son plays for Mississippi State, I believe and so like, how how contradicting is that, like, Oh, these kids are gonna play but my son going to now, when it's the one thing, the one thing I'm going to say in his defense there. Is my daughter will go to college in two years. When when your child is 18, and they go to college there. They're in a young adult. I'm not making that decision for his son. His son has every right to play, right. I mean, you don't want to Sunday after sit out just because I mean that's true, but you're also The rest of the kids that he had power over. They don't get the place. So like, how are you not taking that into Consider? You've gotta blame that you're going to blame the conference President, You've gotta blame the excuse me the university presidents and chancellors for that. Because they're the ones that you know they're the ones who, by the way, and there's and anybody who says Well, it's about they're making the right decision with the science wrong long there's enough science backing up. What the SEC the NFL the big 12 in the A, C C or don't Right, And I believe that's why there's such a big backtrack. After those Nebraska players filed a lawsuit, the lawyer About a lawsuit wanting all the documentation and reports that they used to make this decision. Now they're back. Bad one pain again, like, okay, Well, maybe we'll get a season going. Let's try to get done because they knew that they were in the wrong probably going to tell you this and I I appreciate your call Mark. Thank you So much for Conan. Thank you for your service. I would suggest that everybody go read a column by Pete Family. From June 15th of this year. So just put in Pete's family. Ah Yahoo Sports June 15th 2020 Go read his column that day. Where he interviews Kevin Warren. So this is June 15th. And Kevin Warren talks about the fact that what he found was one of his biggest jobs as big 10 commissioner. Now what would you think it would be? Education. Making sure his college athletes are proceeding towards degrees, making sure that the big 10 continues to be a you know, one of the power conferences, you would think those would be the things that he be talking about. No In that column, you can read it. June 15th Pete Family Yahoo Sports Kevin Warren talks about the fact is, he believes that The big 10 had the ability to swing a presidential election. That's not bringing politics under this show. That's bringing you Kevin Warren in his own devices. Kevin Warren talked about the fact that he felt it could swing a presidential election. In knows no uncertain terms. That's the headline. But when you go on your readers comments that we're going to we're going to do it. My goal is to have a national have a voter registration drive across the big 10. And my goal is to these are the things he's talking about. As being the most critical to him is the big 10 commissioner. To make at least that his own words got to make you at least a little suspicious of motives. Joe in reading. Pennsylvania joins us. Hey, Joe, What's up, buddy? Hey, I'm son. It's great to see you on Monday very much, Joe. I had three questions. But you already have my questions. I'll give you two more. What was that? What did I answer? Well, you told me what you thought they were finished. I'm hoping we can do better than we did last year. They're going to be in the I think they're going to be a playoff team. And but I don't see them go until like a conference championship game or anything like that, Unfortunately, but we'll do the best weekend. Sure, absolutely. My other questions of tennis question. Do you think that the disqualification of Djokovic West was too harsh? No. I don't think it leaves any. I don't think there's any room for interpretation on it because that's the rule. The rule is Look. He hit that woman in the throat. With a tennis ball having a temper tantrum he did, and by the way, when you hit a woman in the throat with a with a tennis ball, I would consider you don't saunter over to see if she's okay. Like that is the it's the most cavalier. Ignorant response that I maybe ever seen. You don't salt less cash is you've just hit a woman in the throat with a with a tennis ball because you're having a little temper tantrum. It is what it's supposed to be a gentlemanly game and you hit an innocent woman. She's drop it. You can see she's gasping for breath. She's dropping to the ground. And what do you do you? You wander on over. Come on, Joker. That is a Joker move. He lived up to his reputation yesterday. He is the Joker because that was a joke. Move and no, it's not Teo. That's the rule. I mean, you might think the rules harsh, but that's the rule. And if you not appreciate your call, you knock a woman to the ground. She takes a tennis ball to the throat by the way. What if What if in your accident? I love this. It was an accident. Yeah. Accident. Lovett, let me give you the air quotes, accident. But what if in your accident in your little temper tantrum? You would hit that bowl 15 20 miles an hour faster. Never thinking you could crush her windpipe, you idiot. Honestly, do you ever think you could.

"You live from the rocket mortgage by Quicken Loan Studios when you want the ability to adjust your loan options in real time. Rocket can Well, we've been talking about so far throughout the course of the show. The You know, The main part has been sports and the protests in sports by not playing the games and Powell not really sure that that was the right way to go about it, But certainly some of them were touching and moving. And you can empathize. I mean, Tom Smith may maybe no more so than Don Smith. As a individual who I mean, how could you not root for a guy like Tom Smith and Wanna listen to don Smith and try to help any which way you can, too. Make the world a place of equality. I mean social justice and Equality and, you know, just be kind to one another. I don't think that that should be too much to ask. But I'm not sure that protest ng Umm sporting events is the best answer. I feel like we've done a nice job of having the conversation and continuing to have the conversation. I love that LeBron James and Chris Poland. Others talked to Barack Obama about figuring out the best way to move forward and how to help whether that is to continue to play the games or not, And obviously Being the MBA is going to resume a little bit later on today. They decided that that would be the best course of action to play games, which I happen to agree with. They're just many levels to it and the best way to put us I read that Baltimore Ravens statement. That to me was the best thing that we could do. Just everybody hold each other accountable and be kind and respectful to one another and Try to bring true equality to this country that has had a history of racism and No, it's it's not pretty. When you look at the history of the country. And you just hope that The protest, whichever way that you know they go or continue to happen, and there will be more no question about it. Um His only their peaceful. I mean, how could you argue it on and you hope that it does really enact some true change? And get people to listen and more. You know more so than just listening, although I think that's a huge first step is truly understanding. What the protests are about. And again I understand what the protests are about. I just don't know if not playing the games. Is the right way to do it because to me, they should be separate from the real world issues. Now I know that if LeBron James is Not playing a game. It's a bigger deal than if he was just playing a game and people could watch their game and be happy with that. But you're still LeBron James. He still Khun, where the message on his jersey or wear a T shirt in the post game, press conference, or Talk in the post game press conference. People hear that The same way that others have used that platform to speak about. Real world issues, whether it's racism or social injustice or police brutality. There's a lot of different ways where coaches players have expressed themselves. Through the media, while sports is still happening. It's just I don't know. It's just It's just a mess of a situation that we're dealing with with the pandemic and then the sensitivity that we're living in right now, With all these issues being so At the forefront and a heightened sensitivity and diverse diversity or divisiveness. Between political parties and All that politics bring which I don't get involved with whatsoever. That's why I got into sports part of things. You want to escape from those rolled problems, But now you're having it kind of joint together, which is understood to a certain extent. And I do think it's healthy to a certain extent. But when then you know what's next, I guess would be my question. Because we know the results are not going to be immediate, right? Or you're not. Unfortunately, the change is not gonna happen now. Now you can a hold police accountable if need be. I mean, you can. That's something that maybe can happen. Now within what certain cases that you know, arrested cops for who killed Briana Taylor and now people calling for the same with Jacob Blake. And we will see if those cops are held accountable or how that goes. But overall, you're not going to end racism. Unfortunately tonight, and you're not going to end Police brutality. Tonight. Those are things that systems need to be put in place and different. You know, systems need to be or different Things need to be taught to Cops or coming up. And learning how to do their job. Maybe there are different measures that they could take, whether it's you know, the more cameras on them and all the different things that have been listed year and talked about as far as trying to make it. Better. No war police Khun feel safe and have their side of things being told, but also how If certain cops do act in a way that is not appropriate in a racist way. Or do things that are Showing force. That is UN cold for unnecessary that make should be held accountable is also there are many different levels to this, but from a sports perspective We'll have the MBA in the NHL resuming later today and Major League Baseball had AH, another game last night with the A's and Astros postponed Due to the protests. I would assume that now baseball will resume in full, but I'm not 100% sure, later on today, and who knows what the NFL moving forward Because you've had teams like the Arizona Cardinals, the New York Giants. I've come out and said that they are considering Not playing week. One now how serious that is, If they get to that point, who knows, would yet to be seen, But we'll find out in a few weeks and maybe the NFL is going to have their own way to protest. And have their their voice her. More than just what we've seen with black lives matter. And everything else that the NFL is now finally started to.

"Gets pushed back to the spring, all of a sudden that slow drip. Of the best players leaving The levees are going to break in there and most, if not all of them, who are draft eligible and allowed to leave. We'll go. And that won't be the death knell for college football will still get a lot of viewers and people will still care if the Games go in the spring, but the product itself won't be as good The name brands won't be as good because you're not gonna have any. You're not gonna have this many stars. You might have stars in the making. But you won't have established stars in college football in my opinion. If you move things back to the spring, so that's where we're at the Mac postpones the season. Postpones his college football season. You know, the college football insiders are saying that this is the first shoe to drop in the FBS. The Big 10 could could being the word postpone this college football season. As soon as this afternoon. And if the Big 10 the most powerful, most lucrative the biggest money maker in college football if the big 10 Closes up shop, You know, the Pac 12 will follow. And then from there, you would. I would be surprised if the Big 12 A CC and SEC still decided to go off and do things on their own. So want to get your thoughts. Your reaction to what's happening in college football. Should they be postponing and canceling? Do you think it works better in the spring? Should they just say Damn the torpedoes full steam ahead and try to play in the fall 855 to 1 to four, CBS 855 to 124227 If I were the power five, and I don't I think that there's a lot of change. I think there's a big chance. There is absolutely a chance that it fails. I would I would continue. I would continue fall camp. I would keep the schedules that they have that they have established and I would see where it takes me now. I'm not really all that. Encouraged by opening up campuses, and now you've got thousands of young adults that are going to have the temptation of being around each other. I think that that is goingto possibly Not possibly will likely lead to the spread of the virus and outbreaks on teams and that's going to make having a college football season very difficult, but not impossible. And there's no guarantee that things are going to get better in this spring. There's no guarantee that fans are going to be there, and actually, there's been some polling done on this. ESPN did a poll they asked college football players. Would you rather play in the fall with no vaccine? Or would you push things back to the spring and then play spring football and then come back and play in the fall of 2021 have two seasons? Very close together? And the overwhelming majority said. Even with the risk, we would rather play right now in the fall, believe it or not. I want to get your reaction with the Mac did And if you think it should be the harbinger of things to come, if you think college football should Push things back to the spring. Or is your opinion that they should just proceed as planned? That they should not panic and overreact to one conference calling things off today, because let's be honest. The Mac situation is very different from the Big Ten's. That's that's at least my thought on it. 855 to 1 to four, CBS 855 to 124227 I am coming to you from the rocket mortgage by Quicken Loan Studios when you need certainty the home buying process with loan that fits your life. But there's a lot of happenings in the world of sports a lot of it. Ah New York Sports which is good for the W Fe and in New York listeners here, but We been focusing on the Jamal Adam's trade to Seattle Seahawks Seahawks get a terrific player and Jamal items and the Jets. Finally get rid of a player who has been nothing but a problem in the last six months or so. He's a great player. Nobody would ever dispute that heat trading great players as we said over and over, but You have to at certain points, and it got to that point where Adam's needed to be dealt, and the Jets got the right offer. As general manager Joe Douglas said. We got an offer that I couldn't refuse. And who knows what would've happened. Had there not been two first round picks, plus a player. Plus, If they're around pick on the table for Jamal Adams. How long this would have played out? Would the Jets have had him show up a camp? Would there have been more issues? You the way you look at what the Jets did here. They cleaned out a problem and a guy who became a problem using that. Not a bad guy. A great player. I think we'll have great success in Seattle. But they cleaned out a guy who became a problem. And they brought in more draft picks for a new general manager was trying to build this thing the right way from the ground up and Look, they need Teo really focus on the development of Sam Darnold under Adam Jason. You're too That's what there's going to be the main storyline. For the for the Jets. So a big trade there when you have a player of Adam's caliber, moving in the NFL as we get Set for Players to report on Tuesday. Training camp is going to take place and the NFL is scheduled to proceed not as normal but to have a full season. I mean, that's what Roger Goodell says. There's going to be the case that they plan on starting in September and Culminating the season with a Super Bowl. Who knows about the fans and what's gonna happen then? I'm sure there will miraculously be a vaccination. Bye bye, Super Bowl. Can you imagine the Super Bowl without any fans? Boy? That's something else. I mean, I'm sure there is somehow going to be allowed fans there even without a vaccine. Maybe they allow fans they're social distancing anyway. We weren't talking about that at all. So that's not it shouldn't be part of the reset, but I just thought of that now. Football getting set to return and we know baseball is back in full force. He had another full full slate of games and, you know. Ah, it's To me the just having the games. There is the great thing, but it's also getting used to what is the new normal and you have the the cardboard cut outs in certain stadiums. You have the fake crowd noise that you started to get used to the game on the field, playing the same though, and I know the extra innings rule, which, by the way, I like I happen to be into this extra innings. Well, now it's a little play out in the Met game yesterday, and I think it creates instant action and excitement. So I actually don't mind it. I'm cures to Seymour that maybe I'll hate it after another few games or a few weeks, But right now, I think I'm into it and everybody's gonna You know, some people complained some people love it. Cleveland Indians pitcher Mike Levinger is not happy with the rule book It does. I mean, it does create a I don't want to be unfair circumstance because both teams are dealing with this unfair circumstance. But No. Maybe the the advantage will be that the team was on the road gets the chance to go up. And put a little pressure on the home team football team. Start the inning with the runner on second base creates instant action, so I love it. But aside from that, the player on the field has been the same. And I think No, even just watching a few games, Couple of games, couple Yankee games you throw in a couple of the national games I'm talking about for me personally for you guys, maybe other but watch a couple of the national Games and you just start to not the Washington Nationals, a couple the nationally broadcast games. And you start to It just feels like normal. You start to just forget about the cardboard cut outs or the fact that there are no fans all the masks or the social distancing. You just start to watch the game and you get caught up in the game. It's still very early on in this process. But if you go back to a few weeks ago where we had no idea, or even further back a few months ago, we had no idea what this is even gonna look like what it was going to feel like. It has exceeded my expectations, even at this point, because now I could get the sense that in a couple of weeks we're going to feel like this is just business as usual. Different circumstances, but sports being played as usual. The MBA coming back Thursday. That is going to be exciting, and the NHL follows on the weekend with Ah, you know, they're they're regular season action of the games that matter. With the qualifying round and the round robin for the seating. Exhibition Hockey Games take place this week, but It feels Somewhat normal tohave the baseball season taking place around Major League baseball, the favorites for the most part off to a hot start. And you know again, Each game is gonna count for three essentially in a normal season, so even with the expanded post season Still important to get off to a good start and make sure you're one of those 16 teams. They're going to be in the postseason and then go from there. No, I know that more than half the leagues into the kind of diminishes Thesixty game regular season, which otherwise would have been on incredible push for the post season, every game so important. And it's not that way because of the expanded postseason, but they still are important. It's weird where you see you play two games that you have 58 to go on. Lee, 58 left. After you play a couple.

"Rocket mortgage by quicken loans studio was almost more than a house it's a personal paradise I rent but I like the house I rent get yours with rocket mortgage push button get mortgage you have to read when you work in this business I've had a job in a year we welcome and Dr Louis jazzy in New York City Dr chassis how are you tonight Sir I'm doing a great job as a Die Hard sports fan it is a pleasure to be on your show well I appreciate that thank you doctor chassis and I can tell you this that in a weird way it's almost kind of exhilarating to be on a sports radio network with no sports are happening because it's almost like what you imagine the apocalypse is kind of like a what's the movie with what's the the movie with will Smith worries like in New York and there's nothing anymore I forgot the name of the damn movie but it's kind of like that it's like almost post apocalyptic with the way people are flooding the the stores to get hand sanitizer and soap and toilet paper and paper towels by the way I doctor Jesse do you have the adequate amount of toilet paper I yes I did not go out and buy seven hundred and forty two rolls of toilet paper well and I'd listen I'm a weird bird usually when I go ten two hundred I do shower afterwards so toilet paper isn't a big issue for me but I do have a lady in the house so it is what it is so I I would assume that if someone who is a doctor and from what I understand you're actually on your way to pick up your daughter in college to bring her home due to this virus correct yes yes so I actually come you tonight wearing several hats as of course a big sports fan slash a in the read logger I know you have your full yeah Philadelphia eagle connect I'm a Die Hard Kinsey cheese fan and you know we both about him that you know different times and I'm loving him right now a lot so I'm I'm coming at you as a sports fan affected by this who actually flew out from New York to Miami at the inception of this virus before it really went pandemic and had thoughts about what to do and I hopped on a plane and I saw my cheese from the Superbowl I'm also coming at you as a as a physician I'm a pediatrician for twenty five plus years and as a dad who as you said Tamara I'm picking up my daughter from university of Chicago what UP Maroons and you know ideal it was decisions that need to be made we've been monitoring the situation every single solitary day over the last week as colleges have been shutting down one by one by one and finally last night her college made that decision to go online in the spring so I'm wearing a lot of different hats and I can give your audience a lot of different perspectives so I guess that it's easy to say that that you agree with all of these leagues and colleges and universities in the NC double lay that stopping the tournament stopping the the seasons was the right move there was no other way to do it you know I think our society is so extreme we see in politics we see now in everything people tend to go over we one way or the way the other way and I think for the most part it's it's usually safest to live somewhere in the middle you know you don't freak out it's not the apocalypse is not the end of the world you know we've seen other outbreaks before you know we've seen stars and we seen you know people and I can go on and on and on and there will be another one that will come after this and I think we have to be vigilant and we have to be careful almost certainly get into that but by the same token we don't have to freak out you know and and and so but I think that Italy had it right I think Israel recently is had it right they're just shutting everything down and they're trying to just quell this really quickly and control it really quickly and not allowing it to get so out of control and then they're gonna reevaluate anytime in the near future and hopefully you know bring business back to usable sooner than you know later but I think I think right now you know as a Die Hard sports fan is so much going on right now NBA playoffs are coming up in NHL playoffs are coming up in March man isn't sort of the baseball season and you know there's there's there's so much going on but I think that we can't be selfish you know what I I think we have to think about even if we're a young healthy college kids sitting you know I in a big arena watching you know what the twenty game there somebody who may bring that germ home to an elderly grandparent or somebody who's immuno compromised and we have to think about everybody else now it's a very complex thing to think about because there are people whose jobs whose paychecks depend upon this to work as ushers or parking attendants and we can go on and on and on and and you know they are impacted by it too I I I I think it's great that you know mark Cuban which was willing to to you know give money that people that were working in his arena that are not to be able to bring home you know food you know so but I I think it's the right thing right now I think that it's a short sacrifice for a greater good and at the end of the day keeping us all healthy is what this is all about and we've got about five or six minutes with you here doctor Jesse so let me get a few things in here you brought up how you have to be one way or the other like all see media people who are on Twitter and I think Twitter is just the worst place in the world for this type of stuff because people have to be one way or the other it's either you're a moron are you brilliant there's no in between but also the people who post messages from the CDC or the WHL that say listen it's kind of like the flu a lot of people are not going to die they might be impacted by thing they get it but they won't die you'll wash your hands stay out of big crowds yeah I think now what's happened is we're seeing so many people because of the fact that the leagues have stopped because of the fact that that it's become a bigger thing now that it's almost like you're not allowed to have a rational thought about it because in reality the rational thought which is the correct thought is world's not going to end wash your hands don't go to a concert and eventually this thing will work itself out I mean I think that's fair to say yeah I I mean you know if you're on Facebook and you're on Twitter you see you hear people having vicious arguments about this and it's amazing how many people are all of a sudden experts and you know we have people that spend twenty thirty forty years vested in their career at learning about epidemiology and you know histology and and and after them you'll want people who have no clue where like I don't think you're right because like I am with the CDC this is what I know and people five people about it yeah you know you know I think people have to respect others jobs and and just stay in your lane and support you know at the end there there are doctors and nurses in PA's in medical systems that are that are on the front lines every day and they they deserve shout outs because they're putting their life on the line sometimes and you know we had to let everybody do their job and you know you you alluded to how this was was like flew in some ways it isn't and how it's transmitted but we're still learning a lot more about it and there there there is no vaccine although I researched it prior to coming on during nine companies right now presently working on developing a vaccine for this I spoke to an infectious disease doctor earlier on in the week he thought we were about a year and a half to two years away he thought from having a good vaccine bride now I'm reading up on stuff from medical sources that we may in fact be a whole lot closes I know we dedicate a lot of resources to it so hopefully that'll be sooner than later again we got a couple more minutes with you here in this is doctor Louis chassis in New York City so when you talk about laying the time that this could take to to find that you don't see the cure but find the way to at least slow it down and can help people with that but how long do you think it is realistic for sports leagues to need to continue what they're doing by not putting teams in stadiums are putting fans in stadiums realistically how long could this go what work you know I think this country was ahead of it a lot quicker than than other countries where and and you even see peeks diminishing in China and in Italy right now so it you know from what we're learning about it and we are still learning about it nobody can get on this this talk radio show or any talk radio show and proclaim to be an expert in it because we're not experts right now and about from what we do now on it it seems like it's it's it's peaking and and that and that that help that bill Kirby star to go down so I think if we're ahead of it it you know and I know a lot of athletes want to be assessed in thirty days and see what happens we we may very well be in a position that we're gonna we're gonna go back to business as usual and and all you listeners out there just understand that we are going back to business as usual before you know it you know which do the right thing right now we can take care of this right do things right and then you know we'll we'll go back to cheering from I can see chiefs you know repeating as Super Bowl champions next year yeah you're like my mom my mom's a chiefs fan but like two weeks before they won the Superbowl she hates she hated Andy Reid she absolutely hated him it's always the worst any Wednesday is the greatest my mom would have fit in perfectly in Philadelphia but she lives in baton Rouge Louisiana Ammons from Missouri but she sounded like a Philly person how often she would be bipolar about Andy Reid whether he was greater whether or not but but with with that in mind really quick before we let you go doctor chassis so just for people listening just to react just gonna read a confirm this now the ways that people can protect themselves one of the best ways to take precaution right now okay so.

but tonight at eight because I hear what you said about Peyton manning being overrated and as as the argument about your age because the wait till eight not played it back in the day they ran the ball all the time so you do have your ball forty gain so that's why he doesn't have the huge numbers that a lot of quarterbacks happy day and play in manning eighty eight degrees of better than great man and landed in the four symbols once we've been the one and only one and the same plane landed there and once they all they had to be changed where they didn't want the ball he was on the other hand thank god absolutely like this get about how good a great man and what state that we better than him what worries a great quarterback and don't get me wrong I don't have nothing to give you a brief but hate manning is one of the best quarterback to ever play the game great suffering limit Joe dresses all right so Mr here the operator I think Kobe Bryant's one of the eight to thirteen best players in the history of the NBA I don't think he's the first second third best or for their fifth laudable do override definition we all right that he saw just overrated I think Peyton manning is the fourth or fifth or sixth best quarterback in his for the game he's not one two or three balls will think he is overrated did you drew Brees his quarterback rating Hey Tracy just a simple answer did not at all one what is true breezes quarterback rating in the playoffs in his career hundred cool what is the eighteenth manning's just all of the center amen quarterback rating in the post season is clear eighty seven you keep I'm so hundred as trace your stricter told us I think the person that year's opening control range drew Brees better quarterback in the post season the pain man full stop and again I don't want to get a whole like I think him is amazing he just didn't play very well the post season in the two opportunities where one certainly played really well in some of the post season under the pressure got too much and he just got shut down that's fine it's part of the best of all time very few people are Montana and Brady are the guys that have never flinched in the face that kind of pressure other guys are human I would take breaks and while a breeze gets another symbol last year or the year before there's not one hard braking remoter brutality terrible call last year and breeze get another one which team I will never know the argument comes a lot more about I still but right CNN Portland Oregon what's going on buddy you're on CBS sports radio well this year over the summer but it's good to be back I totally agree that manning is over rated to give extremely overrated I mean if you kept telling his brother were having a beer and they were talking about their records against Tom Brady in big games I mean delight manning is taken down twice in the Superbowl so I don't even think it was the best manning and in his household I mean when you talk about clutch super bowls and and college games and big wins you are make sure this is older brother look insignificant so you know it's it's a discussion I think that you know he's a good quarterback but I don't think he's one of the best ever I will say that I do think Ben Roethlisberger is better I think that officer lock brothers borders gonna win the Superbowl this year is going to check out Brady and remaining will be a thing of the past that's all good I I'm sorry I trigger finger and that's because the robbers burger I DO is great have you back on the airmen bridges Sam Sam a regular collar you do have a five hundred record so okay so your team as a four burner record line up all the quarterbacks on the field that you can did you want to name and picture guy I I'd like ready because he's a grinder and and he and he's clutch and and Montana was was also very clutch so you know and and by the way for I thought was a good quarterback that the defense you know it wasn't only them that one that Super Bowl course I mean I I will get like that guy was just saying about you lie you know he came through clutch twice and end up you know this is how I look at that and I I I and by the way ever to host SNL okay that is a funny football players in on SNL so he's got that going for which is nice never perform in the playoffs but when it comes to Brady I think Brady without Bella Jack is a good but maybe not a great quarterback and I think Bella Jack and vice versa so Belcher without breading is a good coach never great but none of that matters because they spent almost their entire careers together and they're one of the greatest coaching quarterback do is of all time and I say that as a not a patriots fan even a little bit any love the call do and I think you might just push Reinecke of the and I really do I'm a little worried him to give his notice at the end of the show he loves he loves to raise clinical up you get out of my career I got the young look here at all will 2019 March Madness Begins
"So the March madness frenzy is now underway because the bracket. I'm holding one in my hands. Just won. I usually fill out two or three. But I'm holding one pristine perfect bracket in my hands. It's only perfect because I haven't yet started filling out winners and losers. That's where you come in. We've got the after hours bracket challenge. Now, you've got the bracket you've got a couple of days to Termine who the winners will be and how you plan on taking out the crew we are inside the rocket mortgage by Quicken Loans studio rocket mortgage is with you every step of the way to provide a seamless mortgage experience. I would love to hear from you about the bracket about what stands out can I tell you what stands out for me about selection Sunday. How wonderful it was to have CBS go on the air and sixty seconds later. We were doing brackets Beatty. Don't make me sit through bunch of analysis and predictions. When I know you're hiding the brackets. Gimme gimme gimme gimme the brackets now and PBS went back to basics. I would say this. If it was any other network. There is absolutely no need for a two hour show that favors the brackets until the final thirty minutes for heaven sakes. It was boring last year. And it was. Drama that was unnecessary because the brackets bring their own drama. So I love the fact that within sixty seconds of the selection show starting on Sunday on CBS. We were already seeing the first bracket which featured Duke as the overall number one this year wasn't that way until Zion Williamson returned and the blue devils ran through the ACC championship if you didn't stay awake. So you're on the east coast, and you didn't stay awake or you had other plans on Friday night and missed Dookie UNC. All it was a fantastic tug of war. It was so good all the way until the end. So we'll talk about that game as well. As what do you did to win the and secure its spot as the number one seed a lot changed over the last couple of days among the ones and the twos. But for the blue devils their fourteenth time as a one seed, although the first time is the overall number one since two thousand fifteen. The other three top seeds Virginia in the south. Now remember last year Virginia with coach Tony Bennett was the overall number one and lost to a sixteen. First time it's ever happened. You remember the name? So this year the Cavaliers the who's our second in terms of the top seed. So the second overall seed. And they've actually got the defending champ in their south region. So Villanova won a third consecutive big east title, but because of the roller coaster ride for the Wildcats season Villanova's a six seed so interesting there we'll hear from head coach Jay Wright a little bit later on. You also have the big bracket BUSTER coming out of the pack twelve Oregon the twelve seed after winning four games in four days to capture the automatic bid. So love it when that happens when a team that wouldn't have gotten in other wise ends up winning the conference tournament. That's the true definition. Of the madness and the little guy having an opportunity every team having the same opportunity to get into the field of

Quicken Loans apply simply understand fully mortgage confidently. We'll continue our NFL conversation. Sam Monson pro football focus lead analyst Sam how you doing? What's going on buddy? I'm doing great excellent. You know, it's funny this week. I heard I don't know if you heard this. But. Greg Williams who to me. Why don't really work in Cleveland locally in the week? And I have no desire for Greg Williams to remain the long-term coach Gregg Williams. I think he's about as old school is old school gets and he referred to some advanced analytics this week. And I almost was brought to tears Sam because well, I think I think that all sports need to have a good balance between old school scouting and new school analytics you'll so many old school football guys are so hesitant look where we are in baseball. Now. Right. The sport is completely run. Everybody has an analytics department in basketball and football is dragging their feet a little bit more in some organizations, but the here an old school coach like Greg Williams referred to some advanced analytics. That was that was wild for me to hear it must have. I don't know if you heard it. But it probably would've made you happy. If you did. Yeah. I think you're right football is behind baseball. And how that kind of stuff is gone, but everybody understands that it can help you how you present it to all of these people know, so head coaches are often the last guy to get on board. But it's because you need to present it to them in in the right away. Now, there's a ton of ways that say the PS database can help is those guys. But if you come to them initially where you know, something they don't wanna hear they're not going to buy. But if you immediately show them something, you know, a fancy pretty grasp the chosen exactly what they've been saying for years, suddenly they're all on board. So I think a lot of teams the league you're just starting to sort of see this time where the analytics guys or people that have been using the stuff within the Bill. Building for years are finally starting to figure out how to present it to coaches added presented to general manager is and you know, the guys bad again in front of the media. And that's when you're starting to see this filter out. I think it's been used a lot within the building for years already. But now we're starting to see those guys use it on a daily basis and get the headline stuff sent to them in a way that they're they're much more comfortable with gesturing at an and actually taking it on board. We're talking with Sam Monson pro football focus lead analysts Sam. Baker Mayfield has had a tremendous season. As a rookie as put up some big old school numbers if you will. But when when you went from a pro football, focus perspective when you guys run the numbers on what he's done. How would how does he great out compared to some other rookie quarterback's of the past? Yeah. I think you do need to go to quarterbacks with a pass because he hadn't shoulders above any other rookie season right now. He's a top ten grade quarterback in the NFL. He's tense overall. Just one physician behind Russell Wilson. So you're already talking about it really really well graded player right off the five. And obviously pro football focus was very high invade your Mayfield coming out were the guy is the winter by for him saying that he was the best prospect in this draft in it really wasn't close to the next guy. I think so far. That's that is being born out. We have seen better performances in the past rookies. I think that twenty twelve season was a pretty incredible year for rookie performances. Obviously it didn't last because RG three in particular had a phenomenal season that year, and then tours and really hasn't been the same player since. But you know, Baker Mayfield is looking as good as we've seen any rookie quarterback. Look probably dating by twenty twelve season. We're seeing some really impressive play from him. And I think his play generally has been better than even the statistics suggest because you had one of the highest rates in the NFL right five and drop rates. And unlike most of the times when a receiver drops the ball, it's an incomplete passes. It's not doing that much damage to your passer rating, or whatever but Baker mayfield's have multiple assets that have been hit his receivers and my hands and ended up as interceptions. So those are taking a sledgehammer to operating over the course of the season. It's ninety three. Point four right now. And this is a season where passing is exploded operating ninety three point four is nice great at the moment. But it's his performance has been way better than that. We're talking with Sam Monson lead analyst pro football, focus Sam, let's talk about another rookie and that saquon Barkley who probably be battling Baker Mayfield for rookie of the year. From an offensive standpoint. There's been other good rookie running back but saquon Barkley make over two thousand total yards this season. How does he compare to Todd Gurley Leonard four nets and some of the other big rookie seasons from running backs? Yeah. I mean saquon Barkley just moved into first edition CFS running back rankings. He's the the number one guy right now through the through part of the season. He's been incredible. He's been everything that everybody who was championing him saying he would be coming out. I think he's been better than we thought. He might be there. The idea that he was a perfect running back prospect that don't think really holds up work holes in his game in particular. This tendency to to be a bit. Reggie Bush in terms of wanting to balance everything outside to look for that clay, but he's gotten a lot better in his first year at not doing that at taking ugly yards when they're there. And that's all there to be had. And it's still maximizing goes explosive plays getting huge games. Those are there. So he has been fantastic. I think again he's been as good as any rookie running back the receipt for a number of years. Really? He's I guess he's played as well. As Alvin Kamara did last year as a rookie on he's done more fulltime base. So he already has you know, two hundred more snaps than Kamara managed all last season playing that same kind of rate is Amari Cooper. Has memorial Cooper's play been much better. Or is just a the players around him made him much better. I think it's a bit of both, you know, playing wide receiver it so difficult to play. Well, if the ball isn't coming in your direction off the ball is coming in your direction in attachable manner. Having you can do about it. There's only so much fancy route running against air. You can do if the ball isn't coming your way. So I think we're seeing Amari Cooper was always a quality route runaround player that would get consistently open. And now we're seeing what happens when you target that guy. He's still a very good player and I play put up big numbers. And obviously, that's that's meaning that his greatest better because he's being given the ball and that talent is being maximized. So you know, I think that that was always there that that talent that play was always inherited his game. Even in Oakland. The raiders just weren't making use of it. We're talking with Sam Monson pro football focus lead analyst. Sam. I know you guys today had an article about projecting Cuyler Murray's pro potential. I'm curious because obviously he's a top ten pick and major league baseball. He's giving compared to Ricky Henderson. He signed a four and a half million dollar bonus. There would have to give it back obviously at a even a better year than Baker Mayfield did this past year in college, which is hard to believe. But obviously, you know, people make a thing about the thing about Baker mayfield's hike, which I thought was over rated. But obviously calamari isn't even close those big as as Baker Mayfield. A what is his potential d do you think he could be a good NFL quarterback? I think he could be, you know, you're right people that the highest the big question Mark because people did make an issue out of Baker Mayfield. Tighter on Baker Mayfield is short for an NFL quarterback. But not, you know, it's not unprecedented. We've seen quarterbacks Baker Mayfield type successful in the past. They're not obviously, not as many as there are as you know, six with three quarterbacks, but those guys have existed and they've been good in the past. I don't I don't know that we've ever seen quarterback that is Kyla Murray's Hite house significant success at the end up, right? You know, he is going to be when we get the official number on him. If it ever gets that far he's going to be significantly shorter than even a guy like Russell Wilson. And you would be in legitimately uncharted territory. When it comes to that. Now, if you're going to do that, you have to be there has to be something else to say, well, okay. That's not going to be a problem because of this and his grading has been incredible. His is great this season at Oklahoma has been basically everything is as as good. As Baker mayfield's grade had been on that was the best we've ever seen from a quarterback, right? The best seasons we've ever seen at college with one of his own. So he has a level of the best play. We've ever seen coming out of college from a college quarterback. And we've been doing this going back to two thousand fourteen but we've seen some pretty good quarterbacks over that's fine. You know, we went back, and we also graded James Winstons freshman seasons. We have got Carson Wentz you got Jared Goff. We've got right. And they got all these guys and Carl Amari stacks up to those guys. Sorry.
McKenzie Milton, UCF Knights QB, suffers leg injury
"Regular season, two straight years. The Golden Knights have gone through the regular season unscathed. This year ranked eighth hypol- describing what was a costly victory McKenzie Milton the UCF quarterback who had twenty four straight games the touchdown pass. And was probably a fringe Heisman Trophy. Candidate was lost a severe knee injury in this game. He left his backup came in a redshirt freshman and the knights scored twenty eight points behind their backup quarterback. And I want to tackle a question that I've heard in regards to UCF tonight. I wanna try something on for size here. And I'm Andrew Phillip pony. In for ferrall on CBS sports radio comedy from the Quicken Loans. Studios national mortgage lender. Quicken Loans apply simply understand fully mortgage confidently. One of the ways that UCF gets disparaged by critics by college football fans in other places is this hypothetical question gets raised about them. Well, what would they do with Fe? Warren conference ex. Ceesay for UCF to get through the American athlete undefeated. They only have one win over a ranked opponent. They beat number twenty four pit at home forty five to fourteen. They played the seventy second. Best schedule in America. They only had eleven games because a trip to North Carolina was cancelled because of the hurricane. So they really are undeserving of the top ten rating, and they definitely don't deserve to be included in the national championship the college football playoff conversation. And I agree with that second point. There's not enough on their resume. To suggest or recommend that they play for college football playoff. Like all hell would have to break loose in the next two weeks for them to even get considered. But the idea that they're not a really good football team is blast semester. Me. I think it's ridiculous. And here's the comparison. I'll make to prove my point. What do you think would happen? If UCF was in the SEC. Now, I think most of you would want to jump in and say they probably be like a eight and four seven and five team. They would just be a middle of the pack team in the SEC. They wouldn't be the worst team. They wouldn't be a team that finished in the basement like Arkansas. They wouldn't be Vanderbilt. They wouldn't be ole miss. They'd be middle of the pack. And I hear a lot of. I hear a lot of national media kind of make those blanket statements that this seems to be what are these ongoing debates college game day was at UCF last week. And they brought it up like, hey, let's tip our cap the UCF, but let's be real about it if they were in a power five conference data have three or four losses by now. And I just don't think that's
