"L and he's really looking nasty in camp Juwan Taylor. He's looking good on the other. You know the book and You know First crap is that offensive line was last year for Fernet still run for 1000 yards. You know, plus another couple 100 yards from receiving. Um and then Ah, picking up the other running back, You know, we would be able to open up some holes. You know, for the for the run offense, and then you know, picking up discussion. All I think we're going to be really now really sneaking on offense this year, you know, because we oughta play national. You know, Wildcat put it, you can put him anywhere. And Ah, yeah Mean, how'd we had Quentin Elson last year? You know that second game against Houston? Yeah, we wouldn't want that. You know, we got stuff on that that two point conversion. You know, it would have been a big difference. Yeah. Quentin Nelson, you know, so so and you know, Well, you know, the other the other book guard. Yeah, one of the most overpaid Chris. I appreciate the phone call. Yeah. You're talking about that week to game with the Texan stopped a two point conversion that would have won the game. Stuffed it at the goal line. Yeah, I think when you're a team like the Jags that needs pretty much everything like we said their defense has been in total tear down mode over the last three years. Since that FC title game. Um You know, I think that I think that what you two is you look at it. If you're going through this exercise, let's pretend this was a real thing. Let's pretend the league allowed the Jags to do this until the Jags. You can take a non quarterback from any of the other teams around the league and put them on your roster. I think you go ahead and find the best player. On a rookie contract still And that that may very well be Quentin Nelson. You know that like that, Quentin Elson, I think is heading into his third year. Quinn Nelson might be the best football player on a rookie deal right now. The problem is, he's a guard. And that's not a It's not a high impact position. You know? Is there a corner out there? You could look at instead. Is there, a defensive lineman? Someone who gets after the quarterback. What else is really good football player? I don't know that for the Jags who would be my pick in this? I think you'd be my pick. Invite a better football team. Right. Our number three coming.

"But for that devastating injury that he suffered in the ball against Ohio State. But Andrew luck. Andrew luck wasn't throwing regulation NFL football in June. This guy went through everything and physically and mentally and emotionally think about think about spending a year wondering whether or not your football career is over and thinking it very well may be and then coming back starting one in five. And leading your team to the postseason. Andrew Alexa comeback player of the year. Speaking of the colts, you throw it altogether. Quentin Nelson sixth overall pick after the colts traded down from three. Darius Leonard second round pick rookie of the year. I remember ballot telling us I think it was at the league meetings in March stats that. That. It's gonna take to drafts to turn the team into a contender. Nope. Took one. He strikes me as a guy when you hear him talk. He's just like when you say football guy. That's Chris Ballard. Yeah. We we had a long interview with him at one point in the off season. And I'm sure we'll talk to him again. He he's been he has been. It's funny. The disconnect between now I want to see disk. And is it a disconnect? I don't know. We were blessed with thousands of fans out there who read PF obsessively. We had one hundred and fourteen million unique visitors in two thousand eighteen five hundred million page views just a shade under five hundred million. I in an age where everybody lies about everything. I don't wanna say five hundred million. If it wasn't was four hundred ninety eight million and change and hundred and fourteen million plus unique.

"Quentin Nelson doing things like that. That's a fine, by the way, you believe that he got because that became such a viral video and he's got twenty five thousand dollars. I find a lot twenty six can't believe it, by the way, if you're going to legislate that evenly for people that was targeting. Yeah. It was and bury. Why had berry church was targeted very church felt targeted in that one and victimize raise your hand. If you've been personally victimized by Quinton Nelson that was growing through the NFL see, but it speaks to what we're seeing with this team. And that is they are that's a fifth straight game that Andrew luck is not been sacked. You could never say that before 'em because of the protection, they're allowing him. We're finally seeing Andrew lucked be the guy he was before the shoulder surgery long and the only streak longer the last fifteen years quarterback not being sacked Steve McNair HD streak of six straight back in two thousand and six and that's why I said earlier that Ryan Kelly. I need a Senator from Alabama shoulder issues. These had some injury issues he's missed some time. But man, they got it locked in. But that that would hurt them Clinton Nelson. Obviously, we're talking about been talking about an awful lot. And it's I think it's been at were a two hundred fourteen straight passes now consecutive passes without being sacked. It's ridiculous where they are. And the key thing out of all this is we're talking about the protection or luck Lucknow getting hit. You know, we're not talking about as much shoulder looks pretty healthy right shoulder looks pretty healthy as he's throwing the ball all over the yard. And this team is looking pretty darn good. Frank right deserves a lot of credit for the offense that he's running there to we've seen a lot of the RPO stuff. But they're trying to do what the best offenses in the NFL or doing the Rams the chiefs the saints with the movement with the deception with the side to side motion. But they're doing it with far less talent. Like, they're doing this in twelve personnel. So to tighten to- tight ends on the field a lot with Jack Doyle and Eric Hebron. They're trying to manipulate that. And. They're still having success. Like, I think you deserve credit for the job. They're doing with that with MAC with Wilkins with Hines in the backfield the way, they're manipulating all these guys to create matchup problems. And it's been really fun to watch. It. It really has in luck by the way three touchdowns again for the seventh straight game. That's that's tied for the third longest streak in NFL history with three or more touchdown passes. Only Tom Brady who has ten and Peyton Manning. Eight remain ahead of luck on that list. He's tie with Dan Marino, had a nice kind of rebirth has been Hebron but first off from the lions who basically was considered a bus. They're gone and now between he and Jack Doyle, you know, love and tight Android. Well, he's talked about Doyle and and lock in that relationship. And now you throw E Bryan in there. And we've seen the to a two tight ends could do back when it was Aaron Hernandez and rob gronkowski. I mean what what devastation they can cause on the field by and large the good NFL teams in the last five years, especially and it probably goes back longer. But we think of those ones that's sort of the jumping off point have used their big people. Well, tight ends. Running backs to create mismatches in the middle of the field called defense team starting to do. But offensively and defensively. They controlled the line of scrimmage yesterday against the team in Tennessee that wants to pride itself on the same thing and that colts defensive line smack them in the mouth. He doesn't get a lot of pub. But there's a kid who's probably gonna win defensive rookie of the year for them. And that's the linebacker out, South Carolina state. He has made all kinds of plays. He's making plays. The line is doing their job, which gives us just the most Andrew lucked sound ever the mood in the building the vibe everyday when you walk in win loses lose is positive. It's all about getting better and Frank stresses the process, right? Everybody's goal is to win each team's goal is to one going in. But you got focus on the process. What what are you doing every single play every single week today better? So yes, it's nice that the results are positive for us that certainly, but I wouldn't say, I'm having more fun. You know for Sam just enjoying it. It's a great group of guys or coaches, gray building. God I love back. I've I've missed that sound from like somebody's it just throwing the ball at Jack oil. Mike Ryan now from the lebatardshow. Sure, I'm sure that it'd be triggering. Get through because of one four or five and five Texans. Seven hundred dollars seven and three Indy place at Houston in week fourteen and real quick out there, my son, and I answered Stephen a Smith on Instagram on Instagram at Golic and wingo. You want to check that out? Stephen A talked a little smack he.

"The only two picks inside the top ten three rosenstein quentin nelson signed bradley jump sign so according to spot track seven of the top nine guys still haven't signed their contracts anyway so maybe that's all the offset language and everything they're dealing with i would be super surprise the only scenario the only thing that i can think of for josh allen not being signed in at the start at camp is if they think he has like agent and he got even have a shot at the i i the starting job they're just gonna make me thirdstring they're gonna give me three third wraps i really don't have a realistic shot you know what let's just sit out for a week or two for our offset language and then up but i but even then not see a scenario where he just i can't just there are no positives to him not being there on day one i can't see the bills and that's where the game of chicken comes in does alan want to run the risk of looking bad did the bills want to even consider letting him look bad yeah he's got to be there he's got to be there and they have to be excited and they have to be on board and making the carson wentz comparisons and talking about trust in the process but he needs to be there because he needs to needs to work you know if we're going to sit here and talk about a quarterback competition and you know getting back to the story lines in the ot as as you're going to get any time with the starters eventually got reps with the ones i think in the minicamp towards the end of the off season workouts 'cause you're gonna get anything at training camp well guess what if you're not there you what are you missing the first day the first week forget it i mean you just just gonna whatever chance you might have you can just throw it out the window it's a new coordinator it's a new offense and you're a rookie and i would be really really stunned i don't even know how much money we're talking about with the offset language what's a couple of million between friends i'd be stunned if he's not there for training camp it just would be a really bad idea and it increases the pressure on him it will get the who do you think you are discussions going and as i said are the other guys in if mayfield and rosen and not really lamar jackson mayfield rosen darnold the guys are all in and around him if those guys are camp and we're hearing jets training camp guess what donald is lighting it up and rosen's having a good camp in arizona that's just going to increase the pressure on hey josh why aren't you at bills training camp it's just not a good idea from a business standpoint or football standpoint when we get back by the way you'll make up whatever couple of million dollars an offset language next contract in theory you're good you'll get a massive contract and if this is planning for if he's released after four years or three years whatever that happens you've got bigger problems that happens that means you're not good enough to be a starter in the nfl most likely and you might be kicking around is a backup making backup wages anyway so last year the bills and colts blizzard game oh i yeah teases yeah there's a rule change hi it's jamie progressive's number one number two employee leave a message at the hey jamie it's me jamie this is your daily pep talk i know it's been rough going ever since people found out about.

"And over the last year or two there's been a lot of talk about rushing up the middle guard center guard combination has to be one of the best and for a while there when sitting in white hair and long were actually healthy and playing they're pretty damn good and they were very happy with those three absolutely look i we understand edge rushers can disrupt you put the reality is to you here time and time again nothing nothing bothers a quarterback more than pressure up his right up in the pocket there where he can't said his anything with it he can't can't go anywhere that needs to be clean and if you can land a guy who can basically it's not just any guard everyone is telling you we're talking about like a potential hall of fame type player here and i do think the one thing gm's might be able to identify a little bit more clearly than anything else is elite level talent which i think quentin nelson has the capability of being thus less likely of having a bust and a if you have your potential hall of famer sitting there even if it's at the guard position i'm all aboard let let's get the hall of famer on the four we get to a couple of calls at three one two three three two three seven seven six let's listen to a couple of experts couple of draft experts couple of football experts i mike may i was asked what makes quentin nelson a sure thing i it's the tape and that's gotta be you know eighty to ninety percent of your grade is papers unbelievable he's the best run blocking guard i've seen in years much better path walking guards and people initially want to give him credit for three hundred thirty pounds he can quick fat protect your quarterback let him step up into the pocket and beyond all that i know the kid and the kid so passionate about the game of football he's got a high football iq and he's gonna set it and literally in the offense of line meeting room and then in the entire locker room i give anything i he's one of my favorite players i've seen in year now may i has done notre dame football so when he says i know the kid i mean you you know he knows i'm probably getting their scouting games getting ready.

"The nineteen twenty seven yankees of horrible drafting which is to say nobody is better and longer and greater at it then the then the browns being terrible at the draft that being said i like john dorsey i think he's a real football guy i think they know they have to take a quarterback in the quarterback they believed to be the best at number one and be satisfied with maybe saquon bradley chubb at four who's your favorite player in this draft well look i look at it differently because everybody has their quentin nelson's you know and they're doing james and they're making fitzpatrick's i like the kids who have unbelievable stories behind their draft like the kid thomas the chad thomas the defensive end or defensive tackle from miami he he plays nine instruments and he he's learning tents and he has his own music label i'm curious about a kid like that i'm i'm curious about a kid like philip lindsey he wasn't invited to the combine but i think he set the record of colorado for most all purpose yards and he could flat out fly five nine hundred ninety plus pounds soaking wet but he has the potential to be a darren sproles type guy in the right offense so those are the kind of guys were my eyes go to not not the ones where you're looking at makeup fitzpatrick derwin james or those kind of players i like to see these potential hidden gems that that may surprise us and become a kareem hunt or or a now chimera there's a running back out of tennessee named john kelly whose swearing to everybody who will listen to him he's a better route runner then alvin kamara and he got to be very good running back by learning skateboarding and he took the same approach to skateboarding down steps as he did the running downhill until the coaches finally said stop skateboarding down steps you're going to hurt yourself like throwing from your knees does it really matter though i mean mentality he thinks it's to use it as a mentality you just got a point and go and you press the whole year that all the time for running backs pressed the whole that's what he wants to do before we let you go train here in chicago the two years we hosted.

"I mean at that point i would probably i would probably trade out of that if i didn't love one of the other quarterbacks i would trade out and i try to get like buffalo or denver if they to trade up and loved one of the quarterbacks and we're afraid the jets are going to take their guy i mean i would make a big deal if there's a thing if i didn't love any one of the other quarterbacks that could be available if sam darnold is not there then i have to make sure that i'm getting one of those players that dave gettleman talks about this guy that is going to be hall of fame jacket where you know what i'm saying so you cannot go to buffalo that's too far away i think that's too far away i think they're they're like two or three guys in here like when nelson that would probably fit exactly what dave gettleman once that guy and he would start for you he'd play sixteen games and he would be a just a terror inside on your offensive line and you know what that does it does exactly what zack martin did to the dallas cowboys and makes you one bunch of tough sob's that no matter who you have brought them behind you is going to benefit from that so i i gotta believe that depending on what the offers are and i'd have to see the offer i'd have to know exactly what he's getting and we will know on thursday and i in fact he does that and you told me he could come out of there with quentin nelson and other picks i would tell you that could be a home run.

"Either combine to look at everybody and like jp said i think you know you look at the surrounding towner at iowa a little bit different than alabama were he's kind of on an island he was locked up against the number one player from the opposing team and again to lead the nation and i'm very important category like interceptions and i think that says a lot and then also with defense it's known the produce some at least a decent level you know desmond king comes to mind the thorpe winter from a couple years ago question i have for j p m e and katie were kind of going over this before the show is i was given kt my favorite five favorite players in this draft then not a single one of them was a quarterback and yet i think we're gonna have three or four quarterbacks taken in the top ten who are your top couple of guys do you like a one of these quarterbacks as your top overall players or are you leaning more towards like a bradley chubb saquon barkley acquit nelson yeah i think that's one of the things that makes us draft so interesting is i have the top three players as saquon borrow saquon barkley number one quentin nelson number two and bradley chubb dumber three and those are guys that two of those three guys could be available it takes four and five which is going to open up takes four and five to some other teams jumping up there and i got i got some ideas of some other teams that might be doing exactly that but yet we we've gotten this thing where these people are just so the teams are so desperate to get that quarterback they're gonna pass over three like franchise changing talents they're gonna pass these guys over just to get one of these quarterback i don't know i mean out there right but we know how the browns go and you know i think the giants are gonna snag barclay.

"A team that that everyone's talked about as a possibility for irwin james you got san francisco and oakland sitting there as well the the could be in the mix for defensive back so i think that's kind of the range seven seven to ten ish maybe a little bit further down in case if some the quarterbacks teams move up for or picks eleven and twelve or quarterbacks to me i think those safeties belong somewhere in that range now what should this chicago bears do you have to say what you're hearing what should the chicago bears do if buffalo or arezzo is trying to get up into that number eight spot you obviously have buffalo picking at twelve they need a quarterback arizona picking it fifteen they need a quarterback there's at least the outside possibility that the miami dolphins could be that mystery team that moves up from eleven aren't the bears on the aren't a lot of players in that perfect position to get the heck out of there they got their quarterback they went and got a bunch of wide receiver you don't want to draft the wide receiver this high what do you think well the buzz that miami's not moving we've heard the saying they but the miami sitting at eleven and just waiting it out so if that's the case they're not getting anything there if they're at eight and they got a roquan smith sitting there i'm taking him roquan smith gone and quinton nelson is sitting there with the offensive line coach you know they're taking him you gotta help out your quarterback in trubisky who is tied to the gm if i'm the gm and i got a quarterback tied to me every pick i make is going to be to help him i mean that's the bottom line like that scoreboard up and i'm gonna make my quarterback great that's what it's all about in chicago making trubisky great who helps them to get to that great status the negating up the gut pressure which is what quentin nelson will be drafted to do by his offensive line coach so i would say quentin nelson if he's there you can add shit in stone.

"People start thinking about it paralysis by analysis but there's a guy that i really love for the broncos with the fifth overall pick you don't really don't take a guard that high but quentin nelson the guard out of notre dame he was tossing people left and right so maybe you go him with the fifth overall pick then you've garrett bowles and quentin nelson on one side suddenly that offensive line going to look a lot better well that's why i like the case keenum because of frees you up to take the best player available whether that's quick nelson or one of those pass russia's coming out either one of those players should be impact kind of guy as a rookie so that's what you're looking for because it's about winning a championship right now and if you're john elway drafted a quarterback that's going to have to take a couple of years to learn the process that's a couple of years that you don't have the luxury of being afforded so i think it was a great move and getting case keenum freed you rather have and i think this is pretty simple i think the is yes you'd rather have case keenum eighteen than kirk cousins at thirty yeah okay if you're talking about just winning a championship just winning a super bowl you gotta go through new england all that kind of stuff is case keenum where or better than what peyton manning was when they won and went and or is that defense capable of being anywhere near what it was well that's a question right those are those are two very good questions i don't think this defense as it's currently constructed his anywhere near the two thousand fifteen defense was good not only have von miller yet demarcus ware you had danny trevathan who was a leading tackler on the team you had a boss ward tj ward who was playing at his best so this defense is not going to be that good but i absolutely believe if case keenum plays the way he did last year he's an upgrade from what peyton manning wasn't twenty fifteen he was nine touchdown look at it as a balance yes you're not looking at defense here payton here now you're looking at defense here a little more toward the middle yeah a little more toward.

"The same quarterback in cleveland under jackson being in philadelphia on the peterson i don't think so so hindsight in the nfl draft is is very easy i i think dorsey basically has a clean slate you had that they want the quarterbacks but how many times have they drafted quarterbacks early in the past or at least in the first round the past the blown up in their face i think they you you build great football teams by getting great football players not just by building holes join me on cbs sports radio tony i i'm asking is somewhat selfishly kazama notre dame guibert have you when was the last time you saw an interior offensive lineman rate is high you've got a fifth on your board of i'm looking at this correctly rated as high as quentin nelson never that high i mean i remember a couple of years ago wa the kit from colorado up forget it i mean it was so long ago the kid of colorado uh uh wha what i think with a twel eleven twelve piccola drafted and threatened to beat milk hype rupp because hyper kept calling them and i am kick me a few minutes a look it up with the name escapes me now um yeah i mean it's been a wild but you know a couple of things to that number one there's no dominant tackle number two this guy has been good for three years i mean he's a dominant force for three years he's not just the physical and moral he really gets it between the ears so you can play him in a variety of systems i think the only thing he really can't do is use him in motion ask him to pull out across a lot of scrimmage block emotion he's not very good at that but i mean everything else you you you look at him he looks like a day wants to order it looks like it's going gonna be there for fifteen years multiple all performances really i mean you could make the case that he has the least amount of downside risk of any prospect in this schrafft's one of the most nfl ready one of the safer picks i i mean basically so so what that he plays with the with the hard salary cap for rookies.
