Arizona State Senator-Elect Jake Hoffman on the Latest Out His State

"Us right now is Jay Kaufman. He is state senator elect. Is that right, Jake? You're now a state senator, is that right? That's correct. Congratulations. I didn't know that. So Jake, I was looking at those Queen Creek precincts and they voted very nicely for Carrie Lake. I wish every precinct in Maricopa and pinal voted that way. So Jake, what is the latest in Arizona here? There seems to be a fight around certification. There's a lot of confusing information. Do you think that Katie Hobbs and governor doocy should certify this election? Well, Charlie, thanks for having me on. You teed it up perfectly. There is a lot to still be thankful for. But in terms of this election, we are watching the most incompetent shoddy election that has ever been run in the history of our country, unfold right now. And no, there is no question in my mind that it should not be certified by Doug ducey. It should not be certified by Katie Hobbs, which to me is a conflict of interest regardless. You know, tens of thousands of voters were directly disenfranchised and millions of voters or disenfranchised by extension. And so right now, what we're seeing is, look, this is coming down very explicitly to carry Lake and her legal team, Abe amade, and his legal team, Tom horn, and his legal team, and attorney general, attorney general has an election integrity unit that the legislature set up in 2019 for specifically situations like this and it needs to do its job. Now, they've started, they've done a great job so far of outlining the litany of issues that exist with this election, but they need to pursue this with the full force of the attorney general's office. And I get it. That's politically that's difficult. It's the holiday season, you know, he's on his way out of office, but he has to understand that this is not about a particular candidate or a particular election. This is about the most foundational element of our republic,

"WGN radio I'm roddy James those are the ringleaders flip side let's start over on impact in 1966 and Wesley on the south side one Let's start over by the occasions I couldn't find that but then I thought oh wait a minute There's a flip side that the ringleaders did and impact was a wonderful label And that's actually one of those questions that has not been answered for me And this is all Chicago souls So of course impact was a division of wonderful so we're talking about the leaners here Yeah that was right on south Michigan the heart of record row and you might remember wonderful records And if so you remember some of their subsidiaries like marvelous and mpec on each impact record after a certain point there is a date The date's not the date of issuance by any means Now what's interesting is there was no date on any of these records until oh gosh you must have been mid 1963 when one of the Harold barrage records came out and right under impact it said copyright may 7th 1963 All right Well after that I don't remember exactly at what time all the later records say copyright January 14th 1963 And it doesn't matter if these records were released in 1967 They're saying January 14th 1963 So what does that date mean to impact and leaners I know I'm talking to Chicago so maybe somebody in Chicago actually knows this answer because I don't have one of the many lingering questions 888-876-5593 That's 88 88 rally I've got a few more It was one of those days where things came to mind that I absolutely could not answer So a Veronica a first time caller has some questions Let's see if I will answer Hello Veronica welcome to WGN radio Hi thank you Ali I love your show And I've been listening to it ever since you came on the Chicago area Are you living in Arizona Most of our most of the time because my radio stations are here I was hoping to be back in Chicago but I've had some medical setbacks so for the time being I'm here Oh well I'm trying to be able to finally get to talk to you because I've been calling for the longest time but obviously I've taken the phone number down even correctly I don't know And you have F one wanted to write you It's a Miami Arizona A box box 9 7 7 Miami Arizona And that would get to you Absolutely I mean if you want the zip code it's 8 5 5 three 9 but who would care All you have to do is box 9 7 7 Miami Arizona and arm as good as the next guy It'll get here Where is Miami in the first in Gilbert Oh I know where Gilbert is Gilbert's right in Maricopa County Okay so if he's in Gilbert what part of Gilbert is he is he by the superstition freeway the 60 years of down by the two O two you know I don't know there's a Bernard or something Maybe Okay Queen Creek I know exactly where that is So if he's by Gilbert and Queen of course if he's by Gilbert and Queen Creek he would come up two O two and he'd head on 60 eastbound and he'd keep driving until he thought he was dead A couple hours later he'd be in Miami And he'd look around and he'd say my God this looks like the south Bronx And he'd be right because it's just a burnout former mining town that looks like nobody lives here But there are some and then you go a little further and you get the globe and in between you get to central heights And we're all in there Yeah I've got I've got four locations in the area Oh how great Oh that's very interesting It's been waiting to try and get hold of you for a second long time I think ever since you started you know when the other man left and I really love the show I really do That's great Well if your son ever wants a beautiful drive like I say Miami is just terrible but the drive between Maricopa County like right at the start of Apache junction Once you get past the floor and junction the drive between the Florence junction and Miami is exquisite Now once you get here you say where the hell am I But it's a nice drive along the way Yeah Yeah I've been there I've been down there about three times but due to my age now I'm not going anymore but what if we were to speak with you I'm so pleased I'm delighted that you called and that you're listening It's great to have you I'm in the Chicago area that I mentioned Yeah we're about We're about hillside Illinois which is narrow park Near the airport Ohio airport Schomberg the big mall yes I know Right Yeah Outbreak the bigger mall Right We're having a lot We're having a lot of troubles at the malls lately in Chicago And you know heard on the radio Yes It's everywhere If they're not a crime scene then they're damn near closing It's really sad what's happening But when I oh yes when I lived in Michigan avenue Yes it is terrible But when I lived in Rockford I used to love to drive to woodfield mall There's a lot of fun Oh yes and it's huge place Plenty of parking Yes but anymore you know all the malls it seems across the country And I don't really understand it because most of them are being replaced with outdoor things and that's okay In some places but you know but that's no good in the winter in that kind of climate Right And it's no good in the summer when you're in a.

"Know, I don't. We don't do a whole lot of stuff on trucks like that in our shop, and I don't have the most experience with diesel in that regard of the deaf system, But if it's wanting to regenerate, it makes me wonder if there's not something because it shouldn't have to regenerate. You know if once it goes through regeneration should be 100% clean. So just by hauling it doesn't seem to make sense that it would go into limp mode in need regeneration, especially if it was just, you know, just done so. I just quite honestly, not 100% certain, And maybe it's not an issue with the deaf system it might be going into or might be. There's another problem, uh, over fueling the card. Rich is not the right terminology. But if it's over, fueling diesel fuel and causing the death filter to load up in need regeneration more often, that might just be the symptom. There's another problem somewhere else that's causing that symptom. So that's something that you know it's it's going to need to be diagnosed. She did mention a programmer. So a lot of times the programming and souping up electronically doing the chips on these trucks can cause some other issues. Because there you're just pouring more fuel through the system, and again, it may be causing the regeneration to happen have to happen more often, So if you're looking for a good Diesel truck shop in your over there in Queen Creek. It's going to be a little bit of a drive, but not far in Chandler to a D s automotive diagnostic specialties of I 10 and shower Boulevard. There are bumper to bumper shop. There's an art to carrying coffee without spilling. Scientists here in the valley are studying how we do it, walking and chewing gum at the same time as one thing, But walking with a hot cup of coffee without spilling a drop is something researchers from Arizona State University felt was important enough to do a study. Well, the rain has started up again in downtown, and that's just going to lead to more problems for drivers getting into the central city. But the good news is powder outages are not a factor looking at the downtown skyline. All buildings are lit up, and hopefully it will stay that way. "Then they are the purple foliage and what gets hot here in the summer they will turn green. Okay, but try more water first. Well, good, deep, long water. Try that, anyway. In addition, I mean, really not going to hurt by really soaking that thing and really getting the root area that you had, you know, as well saturated once it's well saturated. If you have clay outside that whole, it's going to retain the water. But you might not be putting enough water on at the time to actually such saturate the big hole you've done. Got it. Thanks, Mark. Thank you very much. Well, let's see. Next up. We've got Marty and Mesa. Good morning, Marty. Good morning, Brian. Um, uh, I have watermelons that when they hit about five, or £6, they're starting to split open. What? What could be the cause? Oh, you're watering process. You want to keep the water in consistent and you know you can water and a lot more. But it was there getting dry and stopping. You know, basically the growth and then all of a sudden they get water and they start to grow again. They split And so consistent watering is going to probably help you more than anything else this time of year. Okay. Okay, So, um So when you say consistent? How? How often then? Well, it's going to depend on your soil. Marty. You know, Mace is a big city because all the way from Queen Creek the Phoenix, you know, so it's huge. This is North Central. Okay, so you typically there have a little heavier, pretty good soil. And they should be watered a minimum of twice a week. And that's pretty heavy. You want to get, you know depth of about two ft. For watermelons. You know, there are big, vigorous plant they need, you know, ample water this time of year. And, uh, their bigger some of the vines is 10 ft. Wall? No, and they grow like crazy And they really don't seem to mind the heat. As long as you don't get white flies. They stayed pretty happy, But you know you don't If you don't want to see the plant look wealthy in the morning. Okay, so if it's not they don't my yard were my yard is with a cotton field originally. Lot of Mason was cotton fields, cotton and Citrus. But the reality is is that you know they shouldn't look Welty in the morning. Okay, So if you go out there right now on there will be water. If they're wealthy at, you know, at six o'clock at night, and it's been 118. Yeah, I'd be wealthy, too. But if the vines look wilted in the morning, you're not giving enough water And the other trick is when you're going to harvest watermelons, Marty, you want to drive him up for a day or so let them get wealthy. And then you'll get more sugar when you cut them on. Okay. Thank you very much. Thank you, sir. Bye. Bye. We're gonna take a short break. While we're gone. Expecting a high of 76 degrees right now is 75 in Queen Creek. Whether brought to you by Howard Air. I'm Jacki Lynn on Arizona's news station. Katya Our news. In a second, that's weird. Game was great. That's all. There was a terrible game so bad. It's great game Last year was the worst game 13 to 3. That was awful. Well, this was worse. No, wasn't it wasn't because because the dude one that you don't think So we're a couple months into the vaccination effort. Even President Biden virtually blame toward horrible state farm Today in Glendale. We've got another challenge on her hands. You ready for this? Let's hear it. Okay, people. Some people are not returning for their second shot. Wow, who called that? Um Me. Oh, sorry it was you. It was you. Okay. Are you telling me that you show up for your first shot, But you're too lazy to go for the second. Let's go. Let's go over this. All right. We're just talking about people who are over wearing masks. We've talked about this since the beginning of time of the convenience world. We live in a world of convenience to I am for some is not convenient. Grandkids have to help you do everything or your son or daughter have to help you get on stuff. You don't have a ride to certain places. The website There are a lot of things that go into it, but I think a lot of people thought while I got one, I should be fine. Oh, my goodness. I just I know that you and I dive into this stuff pretty deep. We want to know about the vaccines that kind of thing. And if you know if you don't listen to the show every day do you know everything about the vaccine? Maybe maybe not. But you need to if you go for the first one, and they hand you an appointment for the second one. But I think from you go hold that aren't coming back. They weren't handed that second appointment. Remember? That came later. Well, that was in Arizona. Yeah. I mean, what we're talking about is not only in Arizona but elsewhere in the United States. It's just like rne or any of you interested in getting out of this thing. As I am. I think a lot of people are interested. Really not going back to the point where they're like. You know what? I'm reading in all of my life with the window. Get the first shot. They got the first shot. Well, don't get the first shot. If you're not gonna get the second, I don't know what it's like around the country. In some places. It's also how bad some of these states Iran, I think people like I can't. I'm not going to do this again. I'm not. I'm not showing up in a place where after wait four hours, and then I'm told I can't get it. California's happen on several occasions. New York's make it like you said, Get out of the car in the snow to come get it. We seem to have it down pretty good. A few other states do but a lot of states. It seems to be the Florida seems to be very much Ah, hot Mess of times. I think sometimes people just get to the point where, like If you know what, we'll wait till it's done in a easier fashion. When I could go to my doctors of the CBS where I know I'm just gonna go get it that other countries would kill to have what we have. In this vaccine. There will be countries that are not vaccinated, probably for the next three years, but we've got it right here, and all you have to do is show up for an appointment, and we can't even do that. That's just sad man. I know it's different. That's must be real. It's different. But you know what? The doctor gives you a follow up appointment. Do you go? Yes. Go back here is also the other thing, man. Then a lot of countries. There's not this stuff that people have to go through to go get the vaccination. I'll fill out this paper. Do this. Go there do that. They make everything 10 times harder than it should be. All right, coming up coming up. And talk about the night that itwas He's got a full week of rings on his finger. John. Ah, yeah. Get us checked in, all right. Let's talk about your leaky roof. Your leaky roof roof leaks of the sworn enemy of your happy home. Blin plum, quite a fun tree to grow her in the valley. Whatever your dreams are, whether it's for a perfect garden or some great shade trees come out and see us. We grow it all right here in Arizona. One also invite you out to our friends that we saw are centrists or help us sell our Citrus here in Arizona. Guys like sprouts and whole foods and bashes and the whole bashes group. We got to a J and food city and with the ashes And then we have the guys over it. Safe way and Albertsons if you're looking for good. Lemon's got Trier lemons Today we've got a most all those stores and especially good for your Super Bowl party. Might be some organic Meyer lemons grown right here in Arizona. Anyway, with the ownership for four generations, growing trees here and now Citrus to for Arizona's future back to Rhonda in Queen Creek, and then we have looks like Joe and then Lisa, and that maybe we could have you after Lisa the number to call 602 to 775827. Good morning, Rhonda. Good morning, Brian. We recently bought a house south facing house in Queen Creek. We have burned out to three trunks in on that south side of the house, which is the front sight. And we're going to plant some trees there. So I want the recommendation for that. But I also want to know. Is there anything you need to do to treat that burned area that old burned three Trump first? Well as long as it's dead. Probably not run up those long as you get grounded out and got it burnt down, so it's below grade. It's not gonna be a problem. Um, your front yard landscape. It is gonna be greener or more desert or what you're looking for for look Okay, 11 tree is directly south. The other tree is going to be on the Southwest corner. Deep is your lot how far from the side walk back to the house. Um That's a long way. Okay, That's good. What That could be long ways is fine that that works, Rhonda, that's fine. And do you have long Iraq? It's lawn. The trees are going to be fairly close to the house. I actually did go make sure that I didn't Maybe that other visions. Okay. How close you wanna put your trees of the house? They're the spot is about 18 ft. From the window we have a low lying wall is a decorative little 3 ft wall across the front of the house. You know that That's pretty ideal distance wise, especially on that one in the West side, Rhonda because that we can help you save energy and shade over the window. Um, I like to sit us because they're clean and I'll probably helped along do better as well. I would look at planting a fan West ASHA fan Tex Ash, a red push pistachio or maybe even a Chinese L'm. But all three of those decision was Friday's would do exceedingly well. Now, if you want to treat that stays evergreen you're gonna put in a line out there you might look at doing like a live oak would be a good choice. There are people that like to do fight us online, but eventually the lawn's going to succumb to the shade. From a fight Astri. Um, but there's a lot of other varieties as well. Um Do. The one on the North Southwest corner is very near the main station for all the sprinklers, the routing system going to be an issue on any of that, you know, Iran that you really control the roots on most these trees by water and correctly, And the most important thing is the water your lawn correctly. You know, salons. If you look at the people with flood irrigation, you know the only water their lawns once every two weeks in the summer and once a month in the winter time, And if you run lawn sprinklers every day, and you keep the soil wedding the surface and you don't deepwater your trees, You're going to have surface roots. But to prevent having surface roots. You want to go out and calibrate your irrigation system, put it capturing device. So you run at least an inch of water, and that's going to give you a penetration of about a foot deep. So that's going to have your lawn route deeper and your trees through deeper and then to check your frequency on your irrigation stick a screwdriver in the ground. When it's hard and dry. You'll wanna water again and in the heat of the summer, you're probably fine. That's about weekly. And in the winter time you'll probably find it's about once every two weeks. And so when your water and correctly you're not gonna have asthma, the surface roots now for treason or more deep rooted the ashes. They're probably if you have a lot of surface water. They'll have more surface roots on bacon all do that. But the pistachio probably tends to route the deepest out of those trees. But none of them should be a problem. He watering correctly and what you would probably want to do as long as you want. We'll take it. Is periodically in the summertime. You know, if you're not gonna have any extra irrigation for your trees other than your lawn water, and that can be, you know, fine. What you'll want to do is you want of water that one inch cycle. At least probably once a month in the summertime and maybe a little bit more than that water, three cycles and one day so that you're putting three inches of water on that's going to give you about 2 ft. Of penetration on that water. It's going to push the salts down. It's going to make the lawn happier, but it's also going to help your trees through deeper. And it's going to help them to retain more water. And it's kind of like we were talking to that Cindy that called a while ago is that you know if you'll deep water periodically, then it keeps these big trees healthier. And if we have a terrible August like we did last year, we have enough moisture in the soil for the trees to be healthy. Okay, and the Southwest tree is actually going to be kind of near the septic Tate to so if I'm deep watering or those going to be a problem for that septic tank No, The deep watering tank usually is never a problem. Because the tank should get the death the tank leaks. You have a bigger problem than the tree. Um, you know, ideally, a good septic system and most of them there's different types, depending on your soil type. Most of my Queen Creek. We're gonna have a big, deep shaft that goes down. This got River rock and one law oftentimes happen is the tree's roots will eventually find that and the route down into the septic into the leech line, and they'll actually use that moisture in the grow really fast, So as long as it the take has installed correctly, and you have an air gap in there. You have water sitting in there. And you don't have any penetrations till the water gets down into the leech line. The trees, congratulate each line and not hurt the septic system. Be very happy. Now. If there's a way for those routes to get into the tank, that's a different issue. Which who knows since it's all who knows. You don't know. But you know this without our house. One time we had an old ball. Very train. We moved yet, And there was a little lady that lived in the house who was in her eighties and she lived by herself, and we moved in and raised a family. And the first thing we did is that the leak system didn't work. So we had to go dig this new leech system. We had this old mulberry that was sitting there and it was Virtually dead and had a trunk. That was maybe a foot in diameter, and it grew a route into our leach line. It grew around trunk off the side that was too foot in diameter, shaded the whole west side of the house. It was magnificent because it used all of our leech water. So good and bad. Which trees have happened. Nice weekend. Thanks Right now. By Joe and Lisa. I'll take you both off the air. Thanks for being part of the program, folks. We really appreciate it.

"Especially now, when we know the teachers have been vaccinated or being vaccinated. But also what about the long term effects emotionally on some of these people? And no one wants to listen. I'm gonna want you here. One last thing from Rochelle Walensky, the CDC director she talks about where the community spread isn't isn't there is accumulating data that suggests that there is not a lot of transmission and that is happening in schools when the proper mitigation measures are taken when there is masking when there is distancing, de dense ification of the classroom, ventilation contact, tracing hand washing all of those things when they're done well. The data suggests the science suggests that there is not a lot of transmission happening in schools, and in fact, the case rates and schools are generally lower than they are in the population surrounding it. So if that's the case, why are the kids not back in school? So you're going to be hearing this screaming and yelling? It's already happening. The superintendent has said that we need Ah lot more funding for the emotional, you know, for counseling for these kids when they do come back, and we need more money for mitigation strategies. When there is money already there their existing school districts of Mesa, the biggest school district in the state, can do it. Why can't Tempe Why can't Phoenix We're seeing it in Queen Creek. We're seeing it in the in the Northwest Valley. We're seeing in Scottsdale in places where school district's are opening up, and they're navigating covert 19. When covert 19 is introduced into the school, the school has a plan in place for quarantine. The Pavel plan in place for to make sure through contact tracing that they'd stop the spread, and they've done an excellent job of doing that and excellent job. So now you have them talking about a school district down in Tucson that lost. I think they said six their employees to covert 19, and they're dealing with the loss of six employees. The funny thing is, and I don't There's nothing funny about the death, but the way they're making this sound is this is why we can't open the schools. They were closed. None of those people were in the schools when this happened. Covert 19 is not being spread in the schools. It's being spread by people outside, not adhering to the protocol. So the idea that these parents are saying you are destroying our Children is not far off. These kids are suffering, and they need to have the option of being in the classroom. No one is saying that the classroom option should be the only option, but it should be an option in every district. How do you argue with that? They find a way to either blow it off or not answer directly. It's just not right. Coming up. We got to talk about the Super Bowl because we've got to make predictions. We've also got to make sure we talk about what's gonna happen. If you have a party. What could be the worst That could happen? We'll get to it in just a moment. You know Sanderson Ford has been around for over 65 years. I've been saying for a very, very long time, and they take great pride in the things that they do, and they want to make sure they offer you a great great gift or a great idea for their president's Day sale, which is coming.

"And buy some ginger. I just plant that right into your garden, and it'll multiply and spread. Now I haven't grown that particular variety of ginger, though I think it would be quite easy. I would probably put it on a Southern exposure right up against the house in a bed and I think it'll do very fine. Um all right, the horse radish that you're gonna go radishes. You grow those from seed. Um, but you know, to process they're just, you know, like a big radish almost like a turn up kind of thing, so they're gonna be easy to grow. So I would grow. Just continue to grow the radish toe. Well, then you have to dig him up in process. Yeah, Yeah, yeah. All right. Well, I'll give it a try. All right, Vicki. Thank you. Goodbye and let us know if you find the marijuana Well, I'm not gonna be involved Marijuana way. We've had 20 of offers over the last several years, and that's just not what we grow. But more power to those who grow it. Just just not all right. Thanks for the info. Thanks. Bye. Bye. Market, Chandler. Good morning, Mark. Good morning. I have some torch glow or pixie book envious. I'm not sure which they are. They look the same to me. They are the same mark that then that would be the reason My neighbor asked me when I prune it back, she says. She'd like to clipping to growing. He grew it from a cliff. Absolutely. The easiest time to grow from cuttings would be in the middle eight spring and you would take a small cutting. It's easier from a tip cutting, but you can use the wood cutting Smaller than a pencil diameter probably be ideal, and you would take it and dip it in rude tone and put it into a light potting soil. When the temperatures right or keep it into a greenhouse or somewhere, we can stay warm. You want the soil to stay about 70 degrees above for two root And and Bogan V is for the most part route pretty easily. Got it. Thank you. You have wonderful afternoon. Thanks, Mark. Hey. One other little one other point, By the way, you could grow it as you could take a limb and run it down into the ground. And start with a knife. And once once it you know, first is going to probably drop. It sleeps because you're gonna scar around it with a knife, But then it's going to start to pop back out. Once it pops back out. You could sever that limb from the plant. It will have roots and you could transplant that way might be easier for you. Thank you very much. You're welcome, Mark. Bye bye. Thank you. Let's see Rolling and Queen Creek, Donna and Mesa. Then we're looking for collars and never to call 602 to 775827. Good morning, Roland. Good morning. Beautiful morning, isn't it? It is. It is. Hey, what time of year dough? I put the Systemic. Bug stuff on my trees to keep that a third. Away from the ash tree. You'll want to do that before they but out rolling so pretty much typically mid February So you don't want to put it in his early is now now there's different kinds of ash, but the ones that it affects the most or fan Tex ash. And so you want to put it on just before they butt out. Okay, so you know, you could see when the buds start to swell. That would be the time to apply it and you know, you could just kind of watch your own particular trees. It's going to vary a little bit around the valley, depending on cold, your exact areas, and it's also gonna very depending on what the season does so. As soon as you see the buds start to swell, Go ahead and put it down, and then the tree will pick it all up. It'll be there are still available won't be washed away and it goes up systemically, and it does a great job of controlling that ash quite flight. Thank you. I'll do that. Thanks, Roland. Uh, all good question here. We helped ever educate other people That might have that Same problem. Bye. Bye. Uh, Donna in Mesa. Good morning, Donna. Good morning, Brian. Um, I have a question regarding the door Mastic. It's been in the grounds for since 95 about 25 years. And about two years ago, it started turning Brown and one side after summer, and it hasn't grown its face green. I don't know if it's dead. Or what I should do. I mean, it stays green, but it hasn't grown. It hasn't needed to be trimmed or anything. Well, Donna, do you want it not to grow or not need to be trimmed or you wanted to grow a little more a trim a little Well, I want to make sure it's still alive. I mean, it's green, so I would think it's still alive alive. What happened? Donna's it's sunburn because it didn't have enough moisture that went through a month of 115 degree weather. And you know, many plants have even the native Miss Keats. And things suffered, you know, really had a hard time last summer with that kind of heat and that plant Wow. It's a very drought tolerant hardy plant. You know, it's kind of the Mediterranean plant that needs a little bit of water in the summertime. So if you wanted to be happier next summer, just make sure your water in at least once every two or three weeks. And how often should I? What should I fertilize it with? And how often you only need to fertilize it if you wanted to grow a lot larger and it doesn't really care. So if you had 21 7 14 lawn fertilizer, maybe 2020 20 or even miracle Gro, anything is going to work fine. It will. Okay. Do I need to worry about those burnt places? Well, some of that woods probably dead. You might want to prune some of the deadwood off and it should pop out with some new buds this spring is it warms up down below and behind those and kind of fell back in. So anything that's actually dry and dead and you could tell that by pruning it, go ahead and remove And do give it a good, you know, Deep irrigation at least once a month. It's be kind to it. Okay. Okay. All right. Thank you. Brian. Next up, we've got Listen, Mesa. Good morning list. Good morning, Brian. Hmm. Have a question about planning a new tree in my front yard. I had a big tree there before that died, you know, says of the camps and I've eliminated the ants, so they're not there anymore. But Do I have to remove the old some to put in a new tree or can I just kind of like But it's fairly close on the new Zola's. I mean, for the most part, you could plant you know, a couple of feet away would be fine. Okay, but like, Don't put it right up against it. Well, the hard part about putting it right up against. It's going to be removing the roots. But aside from that, there's no reason why you couldn't you know you could dig the old roots out and plant in the same place. But if it's more convenient, easier you could plan is close to that trunk is you could get a whole Okay. I would be really difficult to dig it out. It was a pretty big tree. Yeah. So you could just plant right next to it that all the stump will eventually run. Okay. All right. Thank you. So much less, but by we're gonna take a short break while we're gone. Relatives say at least 9 Americans killed in Mexico, many of them kids

"This is for the record nida and for my grandchildren are for he shot up right on the road a lot more to and obviously devastated grandfather taking video of the burned out S. U. V. in which his daughter in law and his grand kids died we're still getting details for you this morning but we do know that at least five people possibly as many as nine were murdered in Sonora Mexico and that includes babysitters covered to the remains of for little kids and the woman in the vehicle it's Leah status of queen creek she says at least nine of her relatives are murdered including her nephew's wife and that and her we'll just call her niece her nieces for children she says the two other mothers were also killed and is you can imagine this is just a it's more than than this family can possibly wrap their head around they're all caught up in what's believed to be a cartel shooting they're they're saying you know might have been a case of mistaken identity but anybody who is capable of doing something like this they need to be brought to justice and it seems like something that the Mexican government Mexican law enforcement is incapable of doing now that the other kids go and so they were walking a lot of them have gun wounds bullet wounds and so the oldest who was thirteen he had all the kid the rest of the kids behind a tree on the side of the road and walked back to our community to get help like I said before we don't have all the details were still trying to figure out exactly what happened in exactly what is still going on word that a couple of those S. U. V.'s are are missing as are some of the people who apparently survived the shooting once again we don't have all the details but in not official word from what happened from the US government or the Mexican government but Brandon Judd who's with the national border patrol council we've talked to several times on this show told fox news this today what you have to look at is you have to can there is as we continue to do a better job on the border we can expect to see more violence it's rare that cartels lash out in American citizens on less were cutting into their profits which is what's happening right now and is it time as I've suggested maybe a little earlier to go after them for the U. S. to go into Mexico and go after the cartels directly we have to do is go back to and look at what we did in Colombia we absolutely helped out the Colombian government applied in there well yeah we we but we we went in there and we did our job to safeguard the American public is not like we went in there solely for the help of Columbia we went in there because it was in our best interest a relative of this family back in two thousand nine so ten years ago was also killed really and she wala and he was an anti crime activist so I'm wondering if this group was known for ya coming out against criminal activity in the area or if it was indeed a case of mistaken identity because I can't imagine somebody knowingly gunning down mothers and their

Relatives say at least 9 Americans killed in Mexico, many of them kids

"In the news today breaking news overnight the state read the story from Mexico at least three American women and six children from an American Mormon community based in northern Mexico have been killed in an ambush a relative of the victims said on Monday now you had was that the the newspaper el universal say at least twelve have been killed we're talking about children as young as six months old will be on the barren said his cousin was on her way to the airport when she was attacked and shot in her car along with her four children in an area and Tory is for drug traffickers and bandits of all kinds it was a massacre LeBaron said Libourne said his role is located the vehicle which had been set on fire with the bodies of the victims inside two other vehicles were found several hours later containing the bodies of two more women and two children at least five other children one of whom was shot and wounded managed to escape and walk home one girl was reported missing after having run into the woods to hide the state Attorney General so the number of victims still remains confused as I said we have reports of me that would make it nine Americans or were killed we've been told the number may be as high as twelve yeah this is a huge story you you see the number of deaths in Mexico that the number of murders in Mexico is on the rise and and in fact the first half of this year setting record numbers and obviously the cartel activity has ramped up greatly don't know what is driving that but it's clear right now that Americans are not safe in Mexico they're not I'm many will argue that they haven't been for quite some time are these this family apparently lived in Mexico S. is being reported and there are plenty of Americans that do that but beyond that you look at tourism and people traveling there on a regular basis I would have you know five six seven years ago have no problem taking a cruise getting off the boat going into Mexico I had a problem growing up on the southern border I really didn't have an issue with it until later years right now I wouldn't step one foot on on Mexican soil and it's because right now I think this unpredictable nature of I don't know if the turf war going on with the with the cartels or or what it might be but I think this story demonstrates how evil those people are we know that Mexican national police and military forces were dispatched to the border state of Sonora on a search operation following those of you know reports like we said nine it is what is being reported by a lot of the media out there with the with the el universal one of Mexico's largest newspapers quoted other relatives the same as many as twelve members of the Mormon family were killed in what appeared to be an organized crime ambush well and and that's it two I mean you ask yourself that a family come upon an area accidentally where there was something going down and and they were attacked or were they attacked out of the blue with a target you know where they targeted specifically because they were Americans were because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time there's a lot to be learned here before we know but there's no doubt that the the activity by the cartels the which has been going on for ages but really ramped up the murders in Mexico's really ramped up in twenty nineteen and right now on full display here I you're talking about children kill being slaughtered if these reports are accurate and true that's as evil as it gets and I don't know what you do about it I don't know what the they're clearly will be an answer from and and so far there has not been an official comment this morning yet from the state department but there likely will be this is from CBS twenty one in Arizona and their headline is U. S. women and children killed burned alive in Mexico ambush right the infirm we were twenty deck because some of the reports said the vehicles were set on fire yes it we did we weren't sure if that's before they were slaughtered or or if they were still alive but again this is horrific and you can bet that there will be a a response from the state department later this morning and you're there you're talking a family that this is a of a woman and a queen creek Arizona so the victims are her American relatives Leah's this woman by the name Leah Staten her sister in law cousin and nephews wife left the family's ranch in Sonora for a wedding with their children in tow my sister could actually see the smoke from her house and they heard the gunshots she says another family member saw one of the S. U. V. is that they had taken on the side of the road a few miles back few miles away from the ranch we just knew the vehicle was on fire and bullet holes all throughout it it was a good hour or so to get information that they were in it the four children they were all dead the other two cars disappeared my sister in law was in one with nine or for children and then my cousin was in one with her baby some of her relatives have recently talked about moving to the states because of the violence there things have happened with my family members being pulled over by the mafia guns pointed at their vehicle as for motive is that's one thing that you and I are asking the the woman who are the the relative in Arizona said she has no idea why anybody would want to harm innocent women and children we just can't believe that this is actually happening to our family it just seems like a bad dream Mexico officials say the area is remote which is slowing down the investigation we said even Mexican military have been sent for the the the search for an investigation as to what's what's going on so you look at that immediate area below the your supporter right there in Arizona that was going back to Jan brewer's time as governor of that state that was part of the battle is is that there were very dangerous people still are dangerous people the cross in to the US across the border and Arizona was looking to do something about that and of course the battle ensued between the legal battle between the Obama administration and and the state of Arizona and you look at the threat it's not anymore it's not just border states I'm talking about the threat that's right here at home by the cartels in their activity here if they're willing to do something in Mexico like this they're willing to do anything anywhere and the more that we that the left promotes open borders the more dangerous our country

"Support for how I built this comes from our two thousand nineteen lead sponsor campaign, monitor an Email marketing platform used by more than two hundred and fifty thousand customers with mobile friendly, Email templates, a dragon drop, Email builder and custom support seven days a week campaign monitor dot com. It's time now for how you built that. And today story starts in may of two thousand eighteen in Queen creek, Arizona. Lisa Dalton was dating a software engineer named Bryan. And Brian is blind. And one day. Lisa was at his house looking through his pantry and making a shopping list. He had eighteen cans of refried beans and didn't know it. So Lisa decided to reorganize. Nice gesture. But also, he big mistake. He had used the memorization based system to organize what he had in this pantry. And in my manhandling, the goods I had completely messed them up. But Brian was forgiving. He said, it's okay. You know? But really it wasn't okay. Because Brian's personalized pantry something. He relied on every day was gone. And now he had to reorganize and re memorize in Lisa. She felt awful. I felt like melting into the floor. But. She also thought there has to be a better system for Brian's pantry. So she started to research, and she found a few solutions. Like pudding braille on an index card, and then wrapping it around and can with a rubber band. But that seemed wrong for a guy. Like Ryan, I thought this is not the level of household is stylish, dude. I I wouldn't want him to have to do that. Okay. Something to know about Lisa. She actually sells customized and commemorative bricks using stamps. She makes with the three D printer. And as she tried to figure out how to solve a problem like Brian's pantry. She thought what about using my printer to make reusable labels? And so she did she came up with something that's kind of like, those live strong wrist bands. But with braille on the outside something you might slip around a container. It's a rigid plastic. It has a little bit of in it or you can to slide it on and then they pop right off. Now, Lisa had kept all of this a secret. So when she gave Brian the labels kinda cracked up in his face change. And these like that's weird. That's really cool. And the next thing he said was hey, you should really sell these. So Lisa started working on more. Braille labels for all sorts of cans and jars and after a few months, she packed up her prototypes. And she went to a convention hosted by the national federation of the blind. She didn't really have any expectations. You just wanted a little feedback. But instead people kept coming to her booth, and then they'd come back with friends and say, hey, check these out in one woman asks Lisa if she would sell her a few of the prototypes, she had packed her husband's lunch and grab the wrong container to pack them a beer. I mean, I know how mortifying that is. And to know that you essentially made a job ending mistake over something. So simple. It's got to be terrifying. She said that she didn't pack his lunch anymore and that day talking to the people at the convention. It was a revelation. I've got to the car that day. And I totally cried it was re. Early moving the stories how they've been trying to solve that problem. And how they wish that this come out twenty years ago. So Lisa went home, and she built a website. He went live in October of two thousand eighteen and now she sells. Her braille labels for two dollars each shell. So sells them in starter packs and the name of the product. Well, he comes from kind of mantra she had four years ago while she was recovering from a stroke. She had when she was just thirty. There's a lot of things that I thought you know, I can do that. I can do that. So Lisa Dalton calls. Her products can do labels and just thought this would bring a lot of independence to people who are also wanting to be able to do their own things. I thought neither. Yes can do things. And Lisa dolts business is can-do -able this year. She's planning to make it for full-time job. If you wanna find out more about Lisa or here.
