"Running about a 43 down the side wanted to get to be official. Call time out. Two time outs still left for Atlanta. All three for Carolina Wallet 25 Yard line. Second, doubted seven Atlanta bait with 5 30 for remaining tight in motions in tight on the right side. Now that lion throws it to him caught in the 30 tackled immediately by Jeremy Chin. Two yards shy line game 32. Well, they're not Got the Falcons off field outside the red Zone today, so this will be a big third down. They've got third down stops in the red zone, but not outside of it. It's his third short. If you're going to get a stop, this is the one to get. The clock in five minutes time Quadri Allyson comes in, and he splits out wide to the left. Empty backfield for Matt Ryan 32 out of the gun. Steps up in the pocket is it collapses and met? Ryan is taking down the flag comes in as well. Second injury It's going to be a defense of whole secondary. Brian Burns on the ground. He got the sack. People. It's a great spin move on McGary, the right tackle beats him. And as he's going down, he wraps up the ankle. He's got him. A little help. It looks like something in his back immediately Grabs back Yeah, he reached correct that lower back Iria and again, you mentioned defence defender that was guarding its five yard penalty previous spot on an automatic first down. And as you said, a penalty against the defense, just a gigantic penalty that keeps Atlanta's offense on the field. It's going to be against Miles Hartsfield, the backup, defensive backs and Contact. He contacts Hayvenhurst within the five but he never lets go. You just continue to stay in contact all the way down the field. That role did not like to call Brian Burns has helped up. He's trying to stretch out his back and you talked about the impact he's had this year with three strip sacks would have had the sack right there, if not for the penalty, and he actually got up, looked around. Saw what happened. Why are we off the field? He realizes a flag and now you're frustrated. You could see him because he put a great pass rush. You've got the sad They might only give me half a sack because he's old. With the leg. Matt Ryan Ray Beyond Roy, the rookie kind of came to help clean up So now Atlanta at their own 35 yard line, with 4 46 to go has a fresh set of downs. Ryan Burns goes to the sideline with Atlanta leading 25 to 17. Falcons have dominated in the yardage category. As you noted earlier, Tony 3 82 to 44. Be a much bigger lead if they hadn't stalled out so many times in the Red Zone, which has been a story of their season here in 2020 that Ryan fakes the handoff. Now he steps up throws caught by Julio Jones in the 50 and Jones takes it to the 45 Carolina. His big night continues. Julio Jones with 137 yards receiving Yeah. Just take a bootleg left in Julio Jones is going to work across the formation and find the sauce pot that zone. After he thought it was tackled immediately walked off the field a little gingerly check and make sure he's all right. That's the last thing he's been battling that hamstring injury all season long. He missed the meeting and week five between these two teams with that issue. Remember Calvin Ridley already out with an ankle injury in the second quarter, the top two targets missing right now, Matt Ryan. Has he hands it off. Girlie girlie is hit and dropped in the backfield Immediately by Stephen Weatherly. Girlie barely even had the ball. It is just before Weatherly was there to drop in for a loss of four Falcons are fortunate. But that was not a fumble because, as you said he had barely gotten the ball. Weatherly just shoots the gap. There's a miscommunication McGary. I'm almost starting to like your healthy chips and then goes to block the outside. It's a mental Aaron McGary. So 2nd 14 back at the 49 yard line. Matt Ryan out of the gun, Quick screen out the gates to the right. He drops a football. Did he ever have possession? They're going to say no in complete look like he thought it was starting to move into the ball slipped out of his hands into the air drops down and it'll be in Oblation. They're lucky that ball was not intercepted because that ball bounces up there. Several Falcons in the area closest being Shaq Thompson, but he just can't get there. So Atlanta now, with a 13 14 with 3 11 left here, it'll be in see what Phil's no does here. He's been drawing these third log situations rushing three and dropping eight. But He's showing blitz. Let's see what happens at Ryan under center. They're going to throw it, too girly run into the left side with some lead blockers. He's got inside the 45 well short of the first down markers. He steps out of bounds around the 43. But that's a mistake by girl. You have to stay in bounds 305 in the game if you stay about who cares if you get two yards less taking these go down Because it enforce that rule to use one of his two remaining time out. Shoot me three as three times. One of his three remain timeouts. Instead, clock stops. Sterling Hoff Richter with his first since his high end over end fair catch by Pharaoh Cooper right around the five yard line, so that works out pretty well for Atlanta to 58 remaining this season. "No. We do have the inactive list. Now Officially, Quadri Allyson John Wessel deodorants do not are inactive along with the players that we've mentioned earlier attack McKinley Ricardo Allen, Cheon O'Neill and Young Way coo. So Elliot Fry will handle the extra points and field goals tonight. Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley are both good to go tonight. Officially, we kind of got that unofficially and assumed that it was official will Now we can tell you for sure, it's official. Officially joining us at Mercedes Benz Stadium, where they will call tonight's game off site West, ERM and Dave Archer and guys I understand there has been a culinary experience planned for you tonight in the broadcast booth, courtesy of your producer that £10 Boston, But I believe I would say more of Olympic boxing. You always eat with just the white of the utensil and you could go three rounds. Okay, Preach right Arts. March means you can just you can. You can go for three rounds. It means, you know, I've had two and I'll get third before kick of its outstanding Mike. I didn't say that. I'm incredibly envious of Ah, What before you all do on Friday afternoons here locally. Because I know you wield it. The grill. And Carl Wheels at the grill, and both clearly can wheel at the grill. And I'm still working on what Bell does. Yeah, he has his wife turned the oven on being good. Come on, like Lesson. David Mercedes Benz Stadium tonight. Matt Moore bringing the sides Bill Morgan bringing the Boston but so there'll be what that game right? And, you know, put an extra pot of coffee on guys because Kick off. Not until nine o'clock, but I know you guys are ready for it. Harry and I have been having this debate here over the last couple minutes on the countdown to kickoff art. I want to start with you because it feels like there's a dilemma when you play the Packers. You want a limit? Aaron Rodgers opportunities to have possessions to limit Green Bay's time of possession. But how viable is it really in the NFL this day and age, Dave To be able to play. Keep away like that. Yeah, I don't think it's realistic to think that you're going to keep the ball away from the other team's offense. I think what you try to do is maximize your opportunities. So when you touch the football normally in in an NFL game, you're going to touch the ball somewhere. What 10 twelves possessions is what you're going to have in a game. What can you do with to maximize those possessions and When I say maximize, obviously like to score points, but within that, within that time you compare time down for the other team shortened the field. Shorten the game a little bit. If you do have positive possessions, flipping the field. Staying on the field for for for a number of three sets of downs those types of things so I think when you start trying to limit Aaron Rodgers, that's what you're doing, but you're kind of doing it within the confines of your own. Space in your own idea of what you want to be offensive, But don't think you do it in the mindset. All God, I can't let Aaron Rodgers get on the field because going to do this, By the way, this is a different green bay team that we've seen. In recent years to this is not the high flying, throw the ball over the yard offense that we've seen in recent years. So they're goingto probably possessed the ball a bit more than they normally do as well, West. What do you make those of the Falcons having success running the football? With Todd Gurley and with Brian Hill, and we'll put the time of possession element of this aside for a moment. Do you think it would benefit the Falcons to maybe be a little more committed to the run tonight? Well and minimize possessions, right? I mean, you only give Aaron Rodgers so many cracks at it. Yeah, I mean, certainly. And I think, girly when he you know when he got off to a decent start last week, and he finished with 80 yards on 14 carries and I think that's kind of where you've got a I got to say OK, where we going to commit Todd Gurley to tonight? I think you'll be excited to play on Green Bay is, you know 14th in the league against the run through three games, but I'd like to see more. Todd Gurley. I'd like to see him. See if he can pick up 100 yards tonight. See if Atlantic can get the two way going. His heart. I don't feel like that. That's been I don't think that's been his prominent in the first three games that we hoped, you know, you could say You won't invest in the run game all you want to, and that's great, but you better be productive. I mean to come out there and go three and out in your hand the ball to girly three times. That's great. Now Rogers has the football and he's going down the field with his offense. You come back out and you don't you go. Maybe 345 and out, And now Roger's back on the field again. The run game is going to go out the window. If that's the way your plan, you can't invest in the run game just to invest in the run game. It has to be productive. Or Aaron Rod. You're gonna look up on Aaron Rodgers team is up 17 to nothing in art. I agree with you when you when you were playing teams like this who have all faced that could just light it up from any dimension on the on the football field. Getting first downs, giving your defense a chance to get risk. You can't have the three announced like they had against the Bears because you're putting that defense right back on the field, and we already see the secondary's kind of depleted..

"The Atlanta Falcons will do so with a former Falcons quarterback. Now he is their longtime color analysts on the radio network for Atlanta. And that is David Archer. David Hope all is. Well. Thanks for doing this. When we look at the Falcons, they made a big offseason acquisition getting Todd Gurley We don't know where the health is of Todd Gurley. What do you expect at a Todd Gurley coming over from l. A to Atlanta for this upcoming season? Well, be honest with you. I think we're expecting a lot of early and mainly in the Red zone. If you look at Todd Gurley's numbers, even with with so called quote unquote down near Around 900 yards rushing, still had 12 touchdowns. All 12 of those touchdowns came in the red Zone, and I think that Atlanta if they could find a way to run the football down close Help three up the talented weapons that Ryan has on the perimeter. Now, listen, you have a little bit more of a potent attack a little bit more looking a little bit more like what? You looked like a 16 when Avante Freeman and Tevin Coleman. We're carrying the ball down there close and created that problem in the run game. Atlanta has not had that over the last couple of seasons. I think that's where they expect Todd Gurley to make his main hey is down there in the red Zone. With the way that you probably have to manage his reps as a running back the rest of the running back room. Is there something that jumps out to you? Yeah, I think it's a good group. Really Do I think that when you look at Brian, Ill in the way, Brian Gillis Kamani together that Hawkins drafted a couple of years ago, Brian Handsome solid moments a year ago. Quadri Allyson. Kid at Pittsburgh rookie from a year ago. Uh, kind of woke himself. A little bit of a roll is a short yardage guy. £225 Goal line Guy, four touchdowns. Hopefully, you know, Smith can come back. He was injured in the game a year ago. I believe against the Rams in which he was trying to pick up a Blitzer, which he shouldn't be here should be doing, but he is an outstanding receiver out of the backfield. And a good change of pace back at the back, So they get to three young guys that I think you could lean on. And like you said, Take some of that. Load off. Assad, Girl. Let's get to the next down. And when we do so, we take a look at Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. The two big names in that organization. Do you still believe that this team could be a play off team once again with Matt Ryan and Julio Jones? I do, but it's you know, obviously, it's about you know your supporting cast and you do some things on the other side of the ball, and I'm sure there's a question you've got to worry about the defense's side the football, But there there's a little area in the offensive line. The left guard has been a little bit leaky, right guard's been a little bit leaky because of some injuries and things that they could shore up that into your part of the offensive line. Ryan's Like most classic quarterbacks climb in the pocket. They got to be able to give him that opportunity. Do so if you get into your pressure and accurate from problems, one game will help in that regard, but Yeah. Julio Jones, 16 seconds, 1300 yard seasons. Matt Ryan, nine consecutive 4000 yard seasons. I don't see the one those guys backing off. When you talk about that offensive line to follow up on that I'm a big fan of Matt Hennessy. Being a temple grad, really smart football player puts in a lot of work. Is he going to make an immediate impact in your number one? Yeah, There's always a question that he's certainly in the mix to be the starting guard. There's no question about that. I think that there's ah lot excitement around when he brings the table and and obviously the heir apparent, Alex Mack, probably its center. So Alex back in a little bit longer to still have a good football any But I need to put some guys around him that Khun taken, it could be in there and we had German Brown and James Carpenter guys that could not stay on the field. There was some solid moments from those two big veteran players, but they did not stay on the field and consistency. In the interior specialist that left guard spotted Kennedy ultimately will probably win that job and be the starter that guard let's get to the next down. All right, David Archer. When they flip the switch here and go to the other side of the ball defensively, it was an up and down year for the defense, but it seemed like they did finish in a better spot than what they did earlier on in the season. You could probably say that for the entire team with the Atlanta Falcons this division. Is loaded with offensive talent. You know what the Saints are. Now you have Tom Brady and the division with Tampa Bay, and I'll be curious to see what Teddy Bridgewater does with the Panthers. What's your read on the Falcons defense entering 2020 Well, it's an uncertain situation obviously went on God. Dante Fowler, Dad's pressure off the edge contact. McKinley realized what they thought they had when they drafted him a couple of years and the number one spot picked up Charles Haley, who, ironically, was in the same draft. And raided a route the same attack McKinley are Charles Harris. I'm sorry. Charles. Charles Charles Haley. Right way. I'd like to have the guy that was rushing the pastor there for both the Cowboys in the 40 Niners. That would be great, but Harris. He does have some raw talent there. Can't he realize that I'm the Falcon Tutelage will have to wait and see Grady dear. It's an emerging star in the tackle position and Marlon Davidson, Vienna and an interesting ad, a guy that has the versatility to play inside. Maybe in past situations and also play the perimeter as a 34 defensive didn't run down situations. The answer at all Burn second round draft pick of the fact that they think they've upgraded their defensive line. It'll have to be upgraded because you get extremely young secondary. Probably gonna have a rookie a corner starting your nickels, a second year guy in your other corners of third year, guys, So there's a lot of young players on the perimeter need to get some pass rush speed up the thought process for the quarterback. Let's get to the final down. Alright. I'm surprised that Dan Quinn is Bacca's the head football coach for the Lancer Falcons. What does he have to do this year to keep his job and Is that seats the warm because, like I said, I was surprised that they brought him back for this year. It is warm. I think that it's fortunate they brought him back because of the current situation with the pandemic and the uncertainties, so some continuity certainly has played into Atlanta Falcons off season. I think they've had a solid offseason, much as you can, with the limitations. They're attached to this year, So I think that it was good in retrospect that, uh, Mr Black decided to keep Dan Quint on, but I think he's got there. They've got a bit pushed for a playoff spot. I think they've got to be. They can't come out of the box one in seven. It's got to be a team. It's in the hunt of the entire way. As you said, it's going to be outstanding division with outstanding quarterback play, but they have to be in the hunt to be a part of the postseason play. If they do that. And I think the fans will be a little bit of stab on the wound for the fans. But if you get out to a slow start, it would not surprise me. If if Mr Blank made some kind of decision mid season on coach Boy and I think, coach when is the right guy for the job Now it's put up or shut up. He scored a touchdown will go for two here Oscar. One more question This team was 11 5 We all know the deal they were in the Super Bowl blew the 28 23 lead. The next year, they did go 10 and six, the last two years. It's seven and nine. If you had to identify the biggest reason why this team has regressed, and I know they've had some injuries to but overall if it's not the health of the team, what's the biggest thing that you look at? Why this team wasn't able to recreate that magic from 2016 and 2017? I think their inconsistency ball on both sides of the football in conversion, down situations and in the red zone. I think Atlanta's done a great job of moving the ball from 20 to 20 But when they get in the red zone, they bogged down and settle for too many threes. And I think in turn the defense's side of the football. What about 22 23 scoring defense coming up 25 points a game. They've got to find a way to get more stops in the red zone. That's probably the answer that you could probably get from all teams struggled and not made the playoff teams, but I certainly think That that's identifiable with the Falcons over the last couple years, the inability down deep in the red Zone both on offensive defense, Julio Jones, he's Ah Hall of Fame player. We all know that one of the better wide receivers in the league He's only had one year of double digit touchdowns, going back to 2012 when he had 10 TUC maybe 10 touchdowns in his fortunes this year. Well, I think he's certainly capable of it. But you got an outstanding receiver on the other side of Calvin Ridley, who's realized his abilities down in the red Zone Pretty close. I think Aidan hearse is going to be a seamless transition from Austin Hooper tight end spot So there are a lot of weapons from that Ryan to get the football too. Don't forget Todd Gurley and how good he is at the back catching the football as well. So I I would say no, I think he's going to be 89 touchdowns. I don't think he goes double digits, but I think there's a lot of guys around him. They're going to score touchdowns. Look for guys somewhere between 13 14 guys catch touchdown passes issue. Say that we appreciate it. Thanks so much. You be well, my

Now it's time to spend a few minutes previewing the Atlanta Falcons will do so with a former Falcons quarterback. Now he is their longtime color analysts on the radio network for Atlanta. And that is David Archer. David Hope all is. Well, thanks for doing this. When we look at the Falcons, they made a big offseason acquisition getting Todd Gurley, but we don't know where the health is of Todd Gurley. What do you expect at a Todd Gurley coming over from L.
