"The White House is scrambling to explain why there are child detentions, tenders growing along our southern border, and while why they are bursting at the seams, and they can't quite settle on what they want to refer to them as they don't like kids in cages there for some reason opposed to that phrase Now, all of a sudden, so Peter Doocy was trying to ask for some clarification yesterday on What term? Would they prefer? If not kids in the cages? Here's a conversation between Peter Doocy and White House Press secretary Jen Psaki 87 billion Caries. Oh Springs, Texas for my grandchildren, and you said it is not kids in cages. We've seen some photos now of containers. Is there a better description? Is it kids in containers instead of kids in cages? What is the White House's? Description of this facility. Well, let me let me give a broader description of what's happening way have a number of unaccompanied minors, Children who were coming into the country without their families. What we're not doing with the last administration did was separate. Those kids ripped them from the arms of their parents at the border. We're not doing that that is immoral, and that is not the approach of this administration. These kids, we have a couple of options. We can send them back home and do a dangerous journey back. We're not doing that either. That is also putting them at risk. We can quickly transfer them from Stevie P to these HHS run facilities. That's one option or we can put them with families and sponsors without any vetting. There were some problems that that that process run into as well. We've chosen the middle option and these AJ just facilities. This is one of them. You're referring to. We had to expand and open additional facilities because there was not enough space in the existing facilities and if we were to abide by covert protocols That's the process on the step. This facility in Texas, which has been reopens has been revamped has been. There are teachers. There is medical facilities and our objective is to move them. Move these kids quickly from there to vetted sponsored families onto places where they can safely be. Well, the old phrases when you're explaining you're losing, and when you have to push back on kids in cages, Boy, you're really losing. This is the White House scrambling to explain itself when in fact it is expanding the number of detention facilities for Children, Mary Yeah, and just quickly two things, she said it we have to. It's been revamping of teachers and medical facilities. The teachers medical facilities were there when President Trump is using it, So that's nothing new. You haven't done anything new. You just You just put them in shipping containers with wit without windows. And she said, where we She's a returning them home puts kids in danger and we're not going to do that. Really returning kids to their parents puts them in danger. I pretty. I think that the United States flying these kids back home is far safer than paying, sending them with a coyote and paying someone to smuggle them across the desert. Yeah, there's a little bit when you look at snacks on the plane and everything. So I think that's probably a safer alternative. That's just me. And how did they convince the teachers Union not toe? Shut everything down? How'd they get all those teachers in there? That's what a miracle 7 51 on W. Emma, a successful.

The only thing that really stopped many facilities from providing extremely sub standard care is the threat of a financial penalty. "Of the show julius to find a so. There's that moment that's happening. Because of or in spite of the diary toilet republicans and the ignorant facebook fox news army the follows them. She hates doing it. Because it's fucking impossible to find an uplifting story to end the show on especially when half the country are mind controlled members of a morally bankrupt ring call and the other hafer whiny entitled virtue signallers. Who are too busy fighting bernie battles with their own side to win the war but the super bowl just happened and sports especially american. Football is a great microcosm of the battle between the liberals and the conservatives in this country and believe you me. I wanted to write good and evil but i didn't. This battle has reached a fever. Pitch at this point no pun intended but the super bowl showed us that one side winning does it make the other side losers. What makes the other side. Losers is simply how they react to losing insurrectionists. We're looking at you right well. I'm glad that you brought up the super bowl because that's what my entire so there's that is about since we already very on brand in time lian since we all enjoyed her tolerated or ignored the super bowl this past weekend. I need to quickly give thanks to you. I'm looking at you me or the royal you use. Technically it was you. Who turned me onto the stories in gems that can be found in professional men's sports. I had certainly enjoyed much of the costumes and cute logos and i myself enjoy. Sports play but watching men do sports for the most part is like watching the scene with jodie foster in the accused. And i'll leave it at that but you do. Send me text like so. What's the deal. What state has the raiders. What's the deal. Because i like this. Chura thing. And i'll be like okay and then i just tell the history of the raiders and different. She'll just come on wake she'll just get different logos that she likes. And luckily with the raiders. They really are on brand with us since they are first and foremost like a an eighties. California juggernaut team there now in vegas which also we will happily and their parents. The thing is i have grown opened my eyes to the joy of men's team sporting events particularly the season finales where the shit has laid on beyond thick and it truly is a delight to bed. They don't do reunions. I would fucking completely you watch them do that. I really have enjoyed learning about the top players. The kardashian connections the scandals the closet queens the ageism the racism the sexism and of course the backlash from conservative republican libertarian leaning american virtuous signaling yodelers like megan mccain who when colin kaepernick originally took the need to. Protest police brutality. At a football game it was the megan mccain's of the world who were flabbergasted and couldn't believe this man would be so disrespectful to our flag. Barf canceled them. And then now spend pretty much twenty three hours and fifty nine minutes a day talking against the unfairness of cancel culture. That is correct now. Football has come quite a long way and over the years women have integrated themselves in all aspects of sports obviously but curiously in football women literally a football league now. I mean it should be called the lesbian football league. Is that not what it's called exactly now much like the wildcats movie starring goldie hawn women of all identities do love sports and they have a lot to offer in many many areas and you may be shocked to learn. Women are in actual football. And recently they're taking on some pretty important roles now. If you're a huge football fan. I would imagine watching women play. Football is cute. And if you're if there are wet and stuff and oil now if you're a woman who loves football. I would imagine watching women play. Football could be pretty awesome regardless of how you feel about it. Women's faked professional football has been another catalyst for the nfl opening. Its windows and letting women get their toes wet with different of actual football while researching the subject. I was shocked and surprised and pleased to learn. The history of women in football goes back to the seventies in one thousand nine. Seventy five jeannie. Morris became the first woman to report live from the super bowl in one thousand. Nine hundred seven gal syrians became the first woman to ever call play by play of an nfl game. What about the movie with helen hunt where she plays and she's in high school she plays football and she's a girl and she's in high school and i thought it was a true story. We're going to get back to that okay. Another time okay. In one thousand nine hundred seven amy. Trask became the chief. Executive of the oakland raiders. The first woman to hold that role in the nfl in two thousand fifteen jen welter became the first female coach in nfl history when the arizona cardinals hired her to an intern position. In two thousand sixteen. Catherine smith became the. Nfl's first full time female coach when she was named special teams quality control coach for the buffalo bills. Twenty twenty katie sours than with san francisco. Forty niners became the first woman to coach in the super bowl in january. Twenty twenty one. Jennifer king was promoted to assistant running back coach of washington making her the first black woman to serve as a fulltime. Nfl coach which brings us to this last super bowl. It's called quarterback princess is from nineteen eighty three. A canadian teenager living in oregon causes a stir when she decides to try out for her high school football team. Why decided to think this was based on a true story. I don't know. I'm going to keep that probably misnomer alive in my mind whom i go beyond genius because we live for helen hunt in the eighties live. Which brings us to the last super bowl. This super bowl which had many thirsty row commercial but they really really did try to take responsibility and promote diversity and inclusion. I enjoyed the super bowl. I thought they did a really good job. Well not only. Did tom brady break barriers with his age. And the level of his inspiring smackdown was the thing of disney sport movies alongside brady. The buccaneers hired two female coaches to laurie. Lucas and maral java defar and there was the female referee but as we discussed care. That your parking cop. We don't care. I'm sorry but no that's not an aspirational job. I think referees are fucking annoying in any sport. Just no just now well. The two coaches are groundbreaking. Laurie locus and morale java defar. That's amazing will literally have super bowl rings. Javadi far is a strengthening and conditioning. Coach and lorry locus. Who's fifty six by. The way comes from women's professional football well. These women aren't the first but the first to win a super bowl. You'd be surprised to know there. In fact eight women coaches in various degrees across the nfl. But the fact that these two are now part of a winning super bowl team is going to open so many more doors for women in football and sports in general. The fact of the matter is women's professional. Sports is very limited but if they can rise to coaching levels their opportunities will widen and at least for me. It made me more interested in watching men's sports. I think having women around can change help. Lower the temperature of homophobia and sexism and much like having sisters or a good mother men need to have women around to civilize them and inspire them in a different way than men do will we love wildcats and we love when the base ball players have to like go take ballet so they could all that shit it's like warms the heart I think the combination can possibly really enhance a team. This quote from player rookie nunez roaches a defensive lineman for the buccaneers. Although she's a coach you still get that nurturing. He said she's hardcore. But i guess it's a mother instinct when you're wrong or you feel you have a gray area. Lemme ask coach low. She's gonna shoot it straight and she's going to tell you but it's gonna come differently than if you ask the mail coach. You gotta know this stuff when you go to ask them another coach named katie sours..

The president is absolutely committed to reopening schools. He wants them to reopen but to stay open and he wants to do that in a safeway. And we're going to rely on. Cdc guidance which again is not officially out yet to determine the best way to do it but there are several mitigating factors that we've seen in data to date that will help make it safe. Of course vaccines are part of that but so is masking so social so is ensuring that schools have the ventilation and the facilities that they announced to the president's focus is on and that's one of the reasons why he's advocating for the american rescue plan. Regarding biden changing the color scheme of air force one the way trump had done literally asked her. If biden was going to repaint air force one and she was like i can guarantee he hasn't thought a moment about that. The president has made a decision on keeping keeping the scope of space force. Wow space force the plane of today. Jack you dumb. It is an interesting question. Actually a challenge space force point of contact. Much that is i will find amos. Faulk leave any update on that so then that night. All the republicans and fox news got all butthurt and fearmongering and demanded an apology. As if the trump team didn't shit the bed with hideous and horrendous insults all day in and out but okay. Here's how hot sake a couple of days later again about space force The top republican on the house armed services committee is asking you to apologize for some of the comments that you made yesterday in the briefing room about the space more. Look i did send a tweet last night. You may not all be on twitter. Maybe they're not on twitter. That said we be hilarious. If space for social media sports here to provide an update to all of you on all of the important work they're doing and we certainly look forward to seeing continued updates from there From their team. Big picture here. He does the space wars. Have the full support of the biden administration or is the president made up. Try to get rid of it or in. Some way diminishes the absolutely have the full support of the biden administration and We're not revisiting the decision to establish the space moore's The desire for the department of defense focus greater attention and resources on the growing security challenges in space has long been a bipartisan issue in by numerous independent commissions and studies conducted across multiple administrations in thousands of men and women probably serving the space force as you know it was established by congress than any other steps would actually have to be taken by congress not by the administration question their program to return american astronauts to the moon twenty four. What is we'd love for you to go to the moon with that program is going to keep it intact. I'm personally interested in space. I think it's a fascinating area study. But i have not spoken with our team about this particular program. So we're not talking about going to the moon and people are dying in a pandemic well. We called captain picard. And he's coming to the white house for a meeting with spock. Deanna troi and also captain janeway an alien and predator. And they're all gonna get together and they're going to have the meeting. Lenin gamely anyone. I mean there are national security issues greater than the space force aka the air force. So here's a great one is owning this reporter. Who is a total fucking nerd. Memo dumb ass. Question came after she had just put up with an onslaught of conservative leaning reporters. Who needed to talk shit on all the teachers who don't want to go back to work as they put it. It's a super disrespectful. Line of questioning aimed at a section of the workforce who are already dreadfully underpaid. And they get very little respect as it is particularly from conservatives in my opinion so however you feel about what's going on with schools and teachers like it's just like nobody needs your commentary on how you believe teachers need whatever you think. Stupid bird were meeting wanted. That's okay. I like the setup. Not tiny balls. I offering it as a yes..

"Called hot sake for lunch where we give you the latest and greatest from the past weeks white house. Press briefings starring none other than white house press secretary. Jen psaki jen. Psaki is a county queen and although she's only been on the job for three weeks she's quickly working her way up to being a patron saint of this podcast just because we identify as democrats doesn't mean that we don't hate most of the lame news liberal media particularly the ones who go to these press. Briefings peter alexander. We're looking at you sir. The reporters in the briefings are so caught up in being unbiased. That there questions come across as argumentative entitled and unproductive like. We finally got people in the white house who are looking to pass progressive policies and inclusive legislation. And these twits are over here throwing salt gabe every fucking second. Holo is your mom. Because i want to let her know that republicans don't need. Cnn reporters defending their concerns at the white house press briefings. They have their own hookers from fox to do that for that. That's right. they do. They do their own. Hookers at fox news and most of them are on the news and luckily for us. This isn't jen psaki first rodeo. She was a traveling press. Secretary for obama's first campaign in twenty eight and went on to work as the spokesperson for the obama. Defense department from twenty fifteen to twenty seventeen. Rachel motto is the first of the cable news outlets to get to have her on and she bugged don per us by telling jen psaki that she was being quote too. Nice another example of a nothing ever been good enough for the liberal news machine. We spent four years with everyone calling for decency back in the white house. Not brandon me. Mind you we didn't give back. We love the hot mess. Express starring trump and sean spicer and sarah huckabee and that dumb dumb way. Kaley mccoy of it but everyone else hated how root and grows trump and his press team or two people so now we have hot sake quietly ratio ing. All the shit's during reporters with every answer and yet she's to nice. I don't know what she was getting at there. But if it takes a bitch to know a bitch than let me tell you. I'm an expert okay and jen. Psaki is a sharp alpha with peggy. Davis is and if these reporters aren't careful they're gonna get fucked super pretty. she's from greenwich connecticut. Which as we know rich quality luxury quality luxury okay. She's the oldest of three girls. She was a cayo in college. I don't know what it is with me right now or why i'm dwelling around in my sorority pass. It's just really gross. Kyle kappa kappa gamma. But my best friend and roommate for all four years of college kelly. She was a cayo. She's married now. She has two kids a son and a daughter. Her daughter is around four and her name is genevieve but they call her. Vivian how fucked gangs. Her son is still pretty young. Definitely not older than a toddler. We couldn't find out his name she's known for referring to herself as the bad cop in the briefings and in the bedroom sakis brown and when she doesn't feel like she has all the information she needs to answer any annoying questions she will say. I'll have to circle back on that. And when she's done with a bitch she says what she has to say and then ends with. I don't have anything more for you. And then she turns away and calls on another reporter without so much. Thank you we live we love. We live video. Good night wig. Yeah so i up. We're gonna play you. Guys a clip from jen psaki very first press briefing on the day of the inauguration. Okay it's to get to know you clip so fine for any of you who haven't been paying attention to the white house press briefings. I'm sure there's a couple of people. I'm hoping out of the fourteen listeners. That have it seen or heard jen psaki and that's not to say by the way that this clip is an already annoying the very first time in the very first day because even when these dumb ass reporters esca general question about what her approach is going to be moving forward at these briefings. They still find a way to sound stupid argumentative entitled product. Take your questions wanted to kick.

Instead you answered yes to all about. And i mean i can say for me i experienced all of those except for chronic pain and i really am grateful and thankful that. Apparently that i wasn't into team sports except for the art of dance so i don't have to live and suffer with chronic pain except for living in my own hellish in mind but feels f. e. a. l. s. like being in the fields. And if we didn't find feels the premium top of the line martha stewart of oil. We wouldn't even. We would have never even gotten onto a journey that would have helped our insomnia. Oh god chronic pain insomnia anxiety panic. Just good for relaxation. If it's it's it just takes that it really does. And i've started doing it in social situations because god knows i don't want to have to do the work. I want an external source to do things for me and it makes me feel. I've said it before but it's like when you're watching. Tv and you know the remote is somewhere on the couch. But you don't have eyes on it and you're also not even going to change the channel anytime but you can't relax because you don't know where the motives and you see the dogs and you think you're on the fucking remote show but you you now you need to get everyone all aggravated and move everyone until you find the remote and now you have it in hand and now let me rewind star trek because now i just impinged last five minutes. That's the way. I feel when i don't know where the feels is which i do. Sometimes not because who loses it memo. I do right and they'll find it in the weirdest sometimes. Find the feels. Like with the silverware. And i'll be like i don't know why the field is in with a forks. I like it. It's a security blanket. It's one that really works. And it's cbd oil. There are many fakes out there. There are many I think they might be all oil. I'm not sure could be grapeseed. Oil could be baby oil oil. This shit feels it is real. It's real and the minute you take the little dropper. Whatever milligrams you decide you. Put it under your tongue. You swish it around new switching around. you're like what. Cbo honey hit the spot relaxing. I feel it hits your bloodstream so quickly it's great and it really does the second be. Put it under the tongue in. Sometimes you're just sitting there and you're just you're bad thoughts. They're running away with you. You know you're not being reasonable the old narrow pathways the well warren pathways in your mind. You're going down them onto. I don't want to go down this pathway. it's dark there's something bad could like the little things with denzel. And i don't wanna go down the pathway but i am and then i go. Where's the feels. I can't find it. Because mel lost it. Let me go check or so forth. I put it in under my dog. And i go. Nope not going down the pathway. Sorry fuck in jared leto. You're not getting me this time. Yesterday she mocked and actual branch of our armed forces in a briefing. Lest you think that Democrats are elitist assholes. Here's her addressing space force. Wow space force. It's the plane of today. It is an interesting question. I am happy to check with our space force. Point of contact much. That is i will find out and see if we have any update on that. Yeah so some would say a little tone deaf. Someone say a little elitist. Someone say a little dispassionate not to mention how she threw of course the chicago if you start treatment chicago teachers.

Flexing in the mirror and little giant. Rick excavated him. No here's the thing she says it's it's not a defense speech. incites violence. What this is the step these are. The steps are trying to take okay. Donald trump used. I am under the guise of free speech free speech just an illusion by the way. Free speech doesn't doesn't apply to inciting violence. Donald trump incited violence. Also here's the guidelines for all of social media speech that incites violence that could include any speech that is unpopular or someone else who may be crazy takes as an inspiration to commit violence as you saw. Scalise is bernie sanders responsible. What what what about hallmark for crying out loud in by those people actually did call for violence. There's a big difference here. Bernie sanders recall marks right but when donald trump says make your voices heard peacefully. Keep in mind they are saying is donald trump ceases to maintain his first amendment rights. When he says you need to fight like hell for your country meeting election regularities that is no longer free speech and they want to apply that they wanna put that all under an umbrella. All of you and here is where we bring in completely straight money. Brian stelter and what else in the media this threat of arguing and second. We have to turn down the capability of these conservative influencers to reach these huge audiences. So the first thing remember. Brian is that the first amendment is a restraint on government from imposing on the rights of private citizens so there is a broader question of whether the first amendment is indeed a defense for a government official facing accountability for his actions while in office. But while some craig cancel culture. Let me suggest a different way to think about this. A harm reduction model. You mean having your kitchen staples can't even believe that they're talking about this stuff like that with a straight face saying this is fine. Let's just limit the speech of people that we disagree with because we disagree. Here's what's so worrisome. About it now and always said when donald trump was president it was kind of the last check and balance. Brian stelter self awareness to understand that everyone everyone sees. This is self serving arm reduction. Well what does that mean. What would you like to see. I would like to see shows that do better than me on a fraction of the budget shutdown which shows adobe all pretty much literally every show does better than mine and so i think i should be labeled hate speech more nuisance many please. They want to shut down. This is what we were talking about for a very long time..

"And now the game where we put odd questions to people who just aren't used to that. But not this time jen. Psaki has served in the trenches of government for years but now she is the most prominent face of the biden administration. She's the white house press secretary. She has already redefined the role by answering questions calmly and factually without insulting the questioner. We didn't know that was possible. We hope she's still at now. Jen psaki welcome to wait. Wait don't tell me thank you. This is what. I'm going to get really nasty so finally finally i actually wanted to to ask you that because a number of people have noted that That you've been very generous professional. We're not used to that. I just don't have anything more for you on edge. Don't have anything more for you. Which is true And sometimes that's the that's what you're gonna say. That's a great way to get out of a relationship to just talk cycling and you know they're in they're just not going to know the answer to a million and one different questions they may have and sometimes you just have to follow up with them and that's okay too so i actually do that but when i am not gonna tell them anymore. I don't have anything more on that. So that's my check us with boyfriends. Walk off the from the podium. After a press conference has done in like five minutes later think of the thing you should have said every day. Yeah every day every day you walk off and i say war eight..

"Don't tell me either. This is alex palmer from washington. Dc alex palmer in washington. What do you do there. Well i actually specialize in international election integrity. Do you really. How have the time have you. Have you actually considered like who's going to hire you to oversee elections in the united states. You know. I really hope no one does that. I guess once we have to call you. It's already too late. Well alex welcome to the show. You're going to play our game in which you must try to tell truth from fiction bill. What is alex's topic too late to exit brexit at first it seems like brexit was going great the uk even won the race to invent a new corona virus varian. But now we're seeing signs that it wasn't maybe such a good idea. Our panelists are going to tell you about that. Pick the one who's telling the truth. You'll win our prize. The waiter of your choice on your voicemail. Ready to go all right i. Let's hear from tom papa. Many britons wanted to brexit because it would keep those suspicious foreigners out of their business but it also of course makes it a lot harder to import all kinds of delicious food leaving them. Only with jelly deal spotted dick and canned haggas so to deal with the looming shortage of prepared foods and also to cut down on wasting the food they have british authorities have instructed citizens. Hey that used by date ignore it. Many foods which have exceeded their best before date are still safe to consume weeks and even months later some helpful techniques. Look at your potatoes. Are those vines. Growing out of them or useful handles bread. is it stale. Or has it just turned into a giant crew thanh and milk. What's wrong with a drink. You can chew. As opponents of brexit have been saying for years as they look up from their tea and clotted cream. Something just don't smell right. Britain's being told to just ignore those expiration dates in their food were share. It's fine yes enjoy it. It just smells a little funny. Your next story of brexit problem comes from jesse klein. Fifty two percent of british citizens who voted for brexit presumably. We're hoping for a long term economic boost where they didn't bank on however was some very unexpected and sobering news at ten downing this week. After months of negotiating prime minister boris johnson announced that sadly one of the trade offs leaving the eu would be the loss of their distinctively charming british accents which has turns out were imported and are no longer affordable. The country let out a collective gasp as they were informed in a national address that effective immediately the entire nation will have to speak with cheapest accent available which unfortunately is mid western american adding insult to injury many of their most cherished british expressions such as knackered. Bloody hell pip and chuffed will all have to be swapped for americanisms. Like where's my food. And how much is that gun. Millions of brits are despondent over the loss of their accent which many counted on for an aura of sophisticated intelligence even when they were doing stupid. Things like voting for brexit. The accent was our thing lamented thomas. Well as an accountant from yorkshire now we sound completely daft unfortunately for thomas brexit daft is now considered an import word and he had to fill out fifty pages of tariff paperwork. Teves in britain's having to give up their as it turns out imported posh accents. Your last story of a breakfast season comes from yasser lester like a lot of countries. The uk is facing huge vaccine shortages but unlike a lot of countries they have a plan. You're using what supply they do. Have to vaccinate dogs. Both those living at home and wild dogs roaming the streets and the countryside not because dogs are objectively better than humans but to save humans dogs by nature or one of the highest aerosol producing animals on the planet so allowing their microscopic saliva to fill. The air may not stop covid in its tracks out in the open but if inhaled by humans can give them the. Antibodies needed to fight off more of the virus than they would have without it. Dogs are basically being used as vaccine. Spreaders thanks to their heavy breathing. Which wild disgusting does hurt less than a shot. The new protocol of course has animal activists. Cova deniers vaccine chasers equally in an uproar. The deniers potentially forced to inhale a medication for an illness. They do not believe exists. The animal activists upset that. The dogs didn't consent to vaccinations. And the vaccine chasers furious that they have been denied while quote unquote. Some guy's pet gets the shot before they do all right. Then here. Are your choices from tom. Papa a new policy to just you know ignore those expiration dates in your cans and boxes of food. I'm sure they're fine because they may not be a new supply from jesse klein. Britain's having to return their accents from foreign countries from which they were borrowed or from yasser lester vaccinating dogs instead of people so as to spread the vaccine to everybody. The dogs slobber on the real story of coping with brexit. Well as much as i like jesse story to be and here Some brits giving up their accent t speak midwestern I think i'd probably have to go with the story about ignoring expiration date right. So you're going to choose tom. Papa story about people being encouraged to ignore those pesky in meeting this expiration dates to bring you the real story. We spoke to someone pretty familiar with it. You don't be afraid to taint stands now and he's not finding it's fine. That was dr. emily broad leaves. She's the director of the harvard. Food law and policy clinic talking about the u k plan for old food and assuring. Yeah it's fine really so yes. Tom had the real story as you. So astutely figured out. You've won our game voice if anyone. You might use your voice and also point for tom just for calmly telling you the truth awesome. Thanks so much. Peter thanks so much.

"Game stuff. That's right it was all of a sudden was talking about the great game. Stop bubble which is the first time in a long time that people have talked about game. Stop and not said. Hey look the game stop. Here's what happened some hedge fund guys but a lot of money that game stops share price would decline because game stop cells video games on things called in places called stores so a group of people. Unread it said. Hey let's everybody by. It will drive the price up and will cause the hedge fund guys to lose billions and and by doing that made game stop one of the most valuable companies in the country for about four days. The stock shot up to over three hundred dollars. But if you try to sell it back at a game stop the best. They can do seventeen bucks. You remember what happens. To michael jackson's is in the thriller video. "Feel will this time alienated by what they see as the establishment though there's sort of an irony to that because currently he's a front runner so I don't know they have to kind of reset themselves that way but there are a number of as Joe said sort of more. Moderate Centre left Democrats who are people who certainly believe in access to affordable health care that climate change changes a problem who were quite progressive on a lot of issues that are not either as progressive as Bernie Sanders or don't like some of the tactics around some of the people who support him. Who would have a long journey to get there and I think like Joe? I don't know that Bernie. Sanders can't win. I wouldn't say that but I think there is there. There is a challenge. Not a lot of people are talking about which is bringing a big part of the party too and Democrats across the country to be with him if he's the nominee And I think that's sort of undervalued. L. You'd sometimes let me ask both of you. This who know far more about democratic politics than I do and with looking at how two thousand sixteen went the four people that we have talked about the most in this conversation. And I think that we're talking about largely in the broader conversation. Right now are Bernie Biden Pete and Bloomberg and they're all all four white men and what part of that is just. The nature of who seems to be aligning with the voters. What part of that is it? Possible that the The primary voters and voters in general are reacting to trumpism and think that a white male is the best shot that they've got against trump and everything that he was able to pull into the two thousand thousand sixteen election. What part of this is kind of repeating sins of the past in two thousand sixteen and dealing with not treating women the same way as candidates as we probably I should in that includes both vetting them but also putting them on the same pedestal as some of the white males that have gotten the nomination? What's going on here? Why are we still talking about four white men when there are also women that are in this game and they don't seem to be at the top of it? Well I mean to be Fair Elizabeth. Warren just got third in Iowa and she may get she. She may do top three in New Hampshire as well. She is still in the race. I think she's got an uphill. Climb right I think it's important. Not to over generalize and I hear this a lot from women and friends with women in my family you know. Oh it's all sexist ebony just hates women look sexism is alive and well. I've lived in experience that myself off certainly in politics certainly double standards. But I think you have to look at the individual candidates to see why they are where they are there is a nostalgia that has helped. It's Joe Biden Right. He is a white man and maybe that speaks to where our party has been but people have hung on because he was Brock Obama's vice president because there there's warm feelings toward him he may be in a spot because he's a man but I think that's the biggest help to him. Mike Bloomberg has are Gargantuan A.. And amount of money that's why he is where he is. He hasn't even really campaigns publicly. He's done great ads. He spent a lot of money on air mayor. Pete is kind of young and I think of all the candidates. He is in a very talented of speaker and interviewer and somebody who is publicly glee presents himself in kind of unique way. I think he's uniquely talented in that way is not to say the others aren't but I think it's more about some of the individuals Widened Kamala Harris make it farther is part of it. Because she's a woman yet probably but as part of it because nobody knew where she stood on certain issues and people were just just not quite sure I think that's a factor too right is Elizabeth Warren. where she is? Because she's a woman and not had Bernie maybe but also I think her flip-flopping on Medicare for all and people not being certain where she has on healthcare was a huge factor. So I I think. Sexism is a factor a hard to measure one. Unfortunately I don't think it's the only factor in my view but you think Joe. I agree with what John was saying. On some of the candidates days I think Camel Harris never quite was able to articulate why she was running. That's that is like a flashing yellow light to voters. I think there's a bit of sexism with was with warrant She's had some missteps which she's also run a good campaign and I think the problem is if if you know and Jen I know you know Senator Warren from working in the White House. She's a hard charger. She doesn't take any crap from anyone she's direct and and can be a bull in a China shop which again for a man is seen as a strength and I think for for women. It's still a problem and I think she's tried to soften that with a kind of enthusiasm and you rather than the Authentic Elizabeth Warren who just basically says I know what we should do. And I'm not gonNA take any shit from anybody we're GonNa get this done and I do think there's still an element that that is more acceptable from a man like Donald trump than it is from a woman candidate. I've got this whole donny. Deutsch comment from late last week on morning joe where he just talks about her being too strident. Yeah I mean the thing is she hasn't been strident she's she's been enthusiastic and happy and I've got a plan for this when I think if you've worked with her you know she really is someone who it is smart prepared and doesn't take any crap from anyone. Yeah and there is sexism. I can't I think you're out Joan. Maybe view on this is is kind of it. She was leading in Iowa right in the fall and then it changed and do you think that's should be attributed the two people saying. Oh wait hold on. She's a woman or health care or a combo or her changing her approach. I mean I do agree with you. I went to her event on Sunday and it was joyful. I mean she was so energetic I was thinking to myself man. She's had a lot of coffee or tea or something. Maybe that's not who she authentically is because she's you said and having worked with her she is kind of. I'm really smart. I'm not gonNA take any shit and that might be what the wing of the party is looking for that. It is a Warren Bernie Wing. I don't know. But what do you think shifted. Well I think a couple things one is I think she. Unsuccessfully tried to broaden her appeal and in doing that lost her base to Bernie And this is where it gets complicated because everybody thinks that Bernie and Elizabeth Warren fight for voters Pete Joe Biden and Amy Cobra. Char fight for voters and it's not that simple Biden End Sanders fight for working working class voters non college educated warn and Buddha judge fight for college educated White voters. So you know we're being a little simplistic by putting them in It's act lanes. But I think she tried to broaden her appeal to soon And it didn't work but listen. I think the simplest explanation explanation is she poked the bear at the wrong time and the bears Bernie Sanders and his supporters and she accused him of something. Which I'm certain certain in my mind he did but it awakened this part of the party? That thinks we have to burn the whole house down. And all of a sudden she was the person who was the fake revolutionary as opposed to the real revolutionary. And if you look at that debate where she took him on including the leak the day before her. Her numbers have dropped precipitously since then So it's everything's a combination but I think there's an element of all the things we've talked about here And and I do believe the bottom line is she. Is the one candidate who has been treated unfairly. Like Hillary Clinton was in two thousand sixteen. Because she's a woman. Can I ask you one question about one of the things you just said if you if the bottom falls out for Biden Do you think that helps Bernie more or pete more more. Because to your point I think the collective view It would be that it would help pete more but maybe that's wrong you have to then then consider where Mike Bloomberg is As we get later into the process voters become more sophisticated did not because they live in Georgia versus live in Iowa. More stuff has happened. It gets more real. The people later on in a contested nomination the nation process their votes more consequential so I think if by Nova sudden moves aside. People won't vote for Pete Buddha Jeff just because they like them just because he's a fresh face they're really going to have to grapple with this guys. Thirty seven thirty eight years old. He's never gotten more than eight thousand votes Spoi- we're taking a big risk putting them up against Donald Trump. That's the risk factor. If Biden is out of the picture. Mike Bloomberg is someone who we'll be able to explore that potential weakness in bondage. I mean again. We don't know what's going to happen the reason we don't do a national primaries for exactly this because this vets that's our candidates this puts them through a steps that shows okay. You've got to win this way this week when that way next week and hopefully at the end of the process this we'll have our strongest candidates are nominee doesn't always work but that's the press the thought process so joe. You touched on exactly where I want to go next. which is I want to talk about Mayor Mike and ask both of you with as campaign veterans talk about how much money Bloomberg spent based on the public filing that? We've seen so far in the first few months and how that compares both to the campaigns now that exists in and your experience in the past Joe you WanNa start here. This one's yours okay. So I mean I don't have the numbers in front of me. You May. But he's spent a shitload load of money. Spent eleven million dollars on a super bowl ad and he spends money in early states. There were reports that he doubled the AD spending in California the day after the Iowa caucus this matters because guess what people see Television Ads and yes. There's obviously other forms of advertising which I know they're are investing in as well. I mean one of the stresses that you have within a campaign is whether you're going to have enough money especially going into Super Tuesday where voters voters are more sophisticated. There is more that has happened but it is still more like a national primary than anything that has come before. It and candidates candidates can't reach every county and be meeting voters nine times like they do in some of the I four states so things like being able to go on the air with ads ads and his ads are good. You Know People Watch them and they like them and I think a lot of them have been very smart. That makes a huge difference. Also he has going to pay pay his campaign staff through November. He's never going to be at a point where they can't afford to where they have to pull staff out of a state because they can't can't afford and we're already seeing that with some of the candidates were they are moving staff to a different early state. That's never a good sign by the way people sometimes come back from that but that's never a good sign. The last thing I'll say is you know even as just a Democrat who's sitting here in Washington. It feels like a relief that the guy has so much money that you wouldn't have to worry about the fundraising component of it because Donald trump is raising so much money and spending so much money online. He will have every resource he needs so even just not having that be. A factor is a huge relief. But you've probably have something more sophisticated than not to say. Joe I'm just giving my gut instinct here. You stole my phrase Shitload of money. I mean that's it. I was talking to some people as he was getting in the race and they were basically saying listen. He's serious. He's going to spend a billion dollars. That's a lot of money I now here. He's thinking about spending two billion dollars. I think in the last cycle orme might have been the cycle before that that on all racist spent by all candidates on Federal Racist Congress Senate Presidential Three. Three billion dollars was spent so he's talking about spending what everyone else in the entire country spent and I think it's worth digging in a little bit too wary spending wing it. Why and how? TV ADS are great with no one else is running TVs..
