For best actress in a motion picture Maria Buckler Cova, who is placed Borat's daughter in Borat. Subsequent movie film Kate Hudson from music. And, uh, Anya Taylor, Joy dominated for the movie called Emma for best performance by an actor in a motion picture, musical or comedy. Sasha Baron Cohen is nominated James Corden from the prom Lin Manuel Miranda from Hamilton Dev Patel for the personal history of David Copperfield and Andy Sandberg. For Palm Springs again. I think it's going to be a kind of in a reverend pick, but I think Sasha Baron Cohen could wind up being the winner. Now. The Golden Globes also give out

They believe that her fifty five stab wounds told a different story and this belief this version of events would lead to more than ten years of absolute hell for rough area. This is quite possibly the craziest case we have ever heard of and apparently agrees because renee zellweger just got cast as the lead in an upcoming film based on this case when we think of evil or manipulative women. Pandemic Self Care With Lynn Fraser
"Hey everybody we're having to do facebook. Live as having some issues going to go ahead and record this. We're going to pretend like we're on. Facebook live and i'm thrilled to have with me today. Winfrey served still point Yes we're going to continue this conversation about pandemic self care strategies and other care so welcome lynn. Thank you for having me terry. It's nice to see you again. Good to see now just catching up a little bit of what's happening in the us. In ohio my and what's happening in canada and your head right and in the same thing it is kind of the same thing and it's Like you were mentioning us one of these big events that And we'll look back gone so someone who's the teenager now is going to look back on it any many decades from now go remember what twenty. We didn't have any school graduate graduation. No prom right. Yeah yeah and all of us have our own personal history with our own personal experience that happening as well right and i know my son is having his children. Do daily daily journaling right now at chip just kind of collect their memories and and they would have to look back on and they're also doing daily meditation so a bit different curriculum than school. But it's still really really valuable to do. Yes we've not. Taking family walks together with the dogs and our daughter who's thirteen has been running. She took up writing again. She'd run track back in fourth grade or something runs ahead of us. We could see her that show she'll turn around and run back and Yeah it's good to see her up and moving and a lot more a lot more time playing me bowling together to to so tell me about what it is that you do so. They can have a sense of who are that. So i've being teaching meditation for twenty five years and yoga as well and i work with people healing trauma. So i do a mindfulness based inquiry practice the killaby inquiries and some of it is in groups. Some of it is individually When when i meet with somebody individually. We're really working on. What are the thoughts coming in images and the words and really what's happening in our body right and then i have a lot of classes as well right now. Ironically the march and april topics for my sunday morning classes is peaceful. Mind wasn't anything on my radar. When i said the topic at you know the what happens in our nervous system in our mind as we get our nervous system is charged up when we feel under threat and we are frayed and then we go into some kind of compensating. We go into fight fight where we get irritable and angry and sometimes we turn out against other people sometimes against ourselves or we go into denial like a deep freeze of. I can't handle this not happening. I'm just gonna go on business as usual and a lot of the things that we're seeing right now are actually fear responses. That maybe aren't the wisest thing we could do. So it's great that you're having this collection of people that are going. This is something we could do instead of convenience driven by nervous system. So that's what i'm you know. I do I help people with their mind So that they can come catastrophic thinking and and come back in their bodies and be you know where the bre. I do them morning. Meditations with Online so people can just have a break from what's going on in the mind commander. Relax the body. It's all guided so you don't have to think it through. I don't leave a lot of spare time there. So the mind doesn't have a lot of time to get going on a big stream thought. So it's just a lot of steph around right now are nervous. Systems are highly engaged in and frightened. And how can we really come ourselves. And there's a lot of ways to do that held about those of what are what are some calling strategies people can use you know one thing we could do is is just do a little practice of it to what is sorry. Lose many things that we can do with our physical body One of the things. James gordon is just wrote a beautiful call the transformation and he's being interviewed on nbc and sixty minutes and he does work with large populations that are traumatized like After hurricane a school shooting or protection thing and he gets people up shaking and also he does this soft e. breathing. I kind of tune in and then shaking so you stand and you shake through your legs and your hips and your arms shoulders. And he has people do like five hundred thousand people together
Destigmatizing Crohns With Clare Surette
"All right. Well claire. welcome to the woman. I'm so excited to have this conversation and very happy that you reached out to me in my dams yet. Thank you very much for having me excited clerk. Tommy a little bit about yourself. What led you kind of to the to the crohn's diagnosis. They got your symptoms. So i started getting sick right when i turned seventeen which i'm twenty five now. So eight years ago. It was around christmas time and as gang stomach aches and just a lot of intestinal issues. And i figured you know. It's the holidays on e. l. oughta swedes. It's probably just from that. It'll go away but Christmas came and went new years and months went on and it just got worse and going to the doctors. Every week blood tests all the time they couldn't figure it out until they finally four months later Sent me to gastroenterologist. And first time i saw him. He says rare doing a colonoscopy tomorrow. Something's wrong we need to figure out what's going on inevitably led to the diagnosis Were you frustrated at all that it took that long to just kinda get to get an answer like that to to do a diagnostic test. Like that or is very frustrating. I feel like the not knowing can make it even worse because you're dwelling on that and it's causing all this anxiety and i feel like i was really relieved when i finally was like okay. This has a name. We can do something but i had never even heard a crowns until before this. I didn't realize the road ahead of me what who would really entail. I thought okay. It has a name now. we can treat it. We're done yeah definitely. It was not the case. No i mean. I was just looking up to some more like fax and stuff is is what they krones pertains to in females and i read that fifty percent of women with crohn's disease are under the age of thirty five at the time of diagnosis. So yeah i couldn't really find anything about. Teenagers is much. But do you know the numbers on that at all. I don't know the numbers. I know when i first got sick and i've found that from what i've read. Most people get diagnosed either in the teams or in like early mid thirties around there. I believe l. But when i first got sick my doctors at the time social media was what it is today and the only resource. They could really give me was. Here's this book that this man wrote who like a middle aged man and his journey with groans. I thought okay. That's great. I respect but he's gone through a seminary night school girl. Yeah my told me how to deal with my prom. Dress amoud without fainting in Where i'm getting done and just like to do my soccer game like things. It wasn't relatable. And so i knew from then that i didn't know how but i wanted to somehow use my life my story to reach out just to help someone feel less alone because everyone i've talked to if it comes up in conversation and i say oh i have krones they always say oh my cousin has it or someone i know has it. So this prevalent then. Why aren't we talking about it more. Yeah and why wearing there more resources you know. That's what when you had reached out to me. I looked at your profile. And i was like. You're like a shining low beacon of light you know q. In this krones world. And i was just so impressed by you. Not only like you know. You have an austin money. You have beautiful photos in you know in bikinis sporting near to me and just like here is about us. Female who is taking back the narrative of krones. Thank you. i appreciate that. Yeah the awesome me. I've only had that for about ten months now. So it's still not brand new but still fairly new battle came about just when i started krones. My doctor mentioned like we can go through treatments or we can. There's a surgery option and at the time again because it's not talked about much my in my mind just thought a bag is a colostomy which that's it which is not the case i learned. There's ilyasova measor. Which is what. I have and luke an end in all different versions some can be reversed but anyway i went. I wanted to do work on taking medications. Because i wanted to avoid the bag. I don't know cost right through. How many years. Once i transitioned over to an adult. gi who. he's absolutely amazing. Him and his team at mass general in boston are incredible. But i had gone through every. Fda approved medication for crowns that was available and melt them all. And just whatever was going on with my case. Things just weren't working out. I wanna say twenty eighteen. Things started to really go downhill in my junior year of college and things i can tell things were getting worse and we just constantly trying whatever medications were left and just was not working
Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem in Talks to Play Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in Aaron Sorkin-Directed Film
"You've got split into. That's as close as i will ever get to desi arnez voice because it has been announced that aaron sorkin is making a lucille ball and desi arnez bio pic starring. Nicole kidman and javier bardem. I guess this is amazing but also it seems kind of terrible as as ideas go. What was your reaction to this news. My first reaction is. I'm just glad that nicole kidman and gets to have a little bit of just the tiniest bit of fine. Did you ever happened to catch the prom. Was the ryan murphy. Film version of a broadway musical speaking of things. We'll be discussing later on this podcast. I sure did. And i was not a fan nor was i. The only thing that i could say is like when they let nicole kidman do something which was very rare in this. She seemed to be having the time of her life and she was like. I don't have to have a breakdown. Like on a courtroom stand and talk about like really grim things while being filmed for once. And i'm flying free and so you know i assume this. Is i think this project in one form or another. I think errands has been trying to do this for a while. If you google. They're kind of like mentions of this project. Bopping around and i think it's about their marriage and working relationship presumably their ups and downs in it. Because it's a marriage. So i don't think it'll all be sunshine and roses for her but at least you'll get to do comedy. Yeah i think that's right on the one hand. We have seen her do comedy a few times in the past perhaps most notoriously in bewitched your icon nora ephron i kind of interesting but kind of bungled but kind of notable movie. What were you gonna say not. Everything works in not everything works. I'll say next week we're going to talk about one division. And i think the bewitched conversation and the idea of using bewitched as a satirical vehicle into another story is new again so as usual ephron ahead of the curve there nevertheless nicole kidman i. Is she gifted comic actress. I don't know maybe she doesn't have to be for this obviously lucille ball. Desi arnez their story as showbiz. Pioneers is not just a comic story. There's there's a lot of high drama that's place there. The other thing. I thought of when i read this news was that one of aaron sorkin non adapted works to to screen is something called the farnsworth invention which is about essentially the creation of the tv by filo farnsworth and we know that the origins of television and the origins of entertainment are quite important. Taryn sorkin and to the kinds of stories. He's he's often telling stories about people at the forefront of a new life changing kind of technology or culture. We've seen it with steve jobs. We've seen it with moneyball. We've seen it with the social network. He loves to find pioneers and tell their stories. And there's no doubt that. And lucy were major pioneers and tv. So you know. Of course we're going to watch it and devote six to twelve episodes about this on our show. And i'm sure it'll be good slash not good.
PROMOTED TO CHRONIC
"Career girl preferred solitary drinking the blackout. Kind often hoping she'd stay that way for keeps but providence had other ideas. I wasn't always alcoholic. In fact it has only been within the last fifteen years that i changed from a fairly normal control drinker into an alcoholic. I don't mean that. I went to bed one night. A normal drinker and awoke the next morning as an alcoholic. It wasn't that simple. I started drinking socially and at parties. And proms when i was about twenty years old. I didn't like it particularly at first. But i did like the effect i got from it. It made me feel quite grown up and mature. And i think another added attraction was the fact that so far is my family was concerned it was forbidden and it had a special attraction for that reason after a while i really did enjoy drinking and what it did to me and i became dependent on it for every occasion eventually. The day came when i was dependent upon it even when there wasn't any occasion when i didn't have anything else to do a dull evening at home i'd sneak a few drinks upstairs in my room and that began to be a habit in nineteen thirty nine. I went on my first weeks. Bender of solitary drinking locked up in a hotel room because my family opposed my coming marriage. I figured that. Perhaps if i went ahead with that marriage which i was sure was right for me. That would be the answer to my drinking problem. I thought i would be quite happy. And never would i drink too much again. So i that i think my first feeling of fear came with my first week. Solitary drinking locked up in that hotel room. The hotel management knowing that something was wrong sent for doctor. The doctor apparently realizing that one thing that i certainly needed was sleep. Left a bottle of sleeping pills there and in my drunken state i took them all instead of the one or two he had prescribed. If it hadn't been for an alert hotel made. I might have died then from that time on. Fear was with me. Because i realized that not only would i not remember what happened to me while i was drinking but apparently i couldn't control what happened and there didn't seem to be anything to do about it. Having passed over the border line the next five years were filled with fear failure and frustration tragedies during those years that were caused by drinking such as the breaking up of my marriage. The death of my child other things had little restraining affect in fact. Sometimes they served as good excuses to drink more to forget it was in washington. Dc that this transition took place and that the really bad part of alcoholism began happening. The last christmas i spent in washington fourteen years ago comes to mind only a few days before christmas. I went to the dentist for periodic checkup. X-rays show that a couple of teeth had to come out. I hadn't been drinking much about that time for. I had begun to realize that there was something abnormal about my drinking. Although as yet i didn't realize that it was so out of control on the day set for the extractions on my way to the dentists felt a little nervous so i had a couple of drinks and after the teeth were out i was very nervous so i had a few more when i got home. My mouth was very painful. So i got an ice bag and went to bed the next day the ice bag and i were still in bed but we had a bottle to my pattern of drinking at that time had reached the point where once i really started i would retire to my bed and drink myself into oblivion. The rest of that week is pretty hazy. And so it went. I remember vaguely violent quarrels with my husband. His finding my liquor supply time and time again and throwing it out. And then my waiting until i was sure. He was asleep and stealing money from him to replenish the supply. Then i remember him coming into my room one night with a friend and telling me to get dressed. We were going away. I fought and struggled but to no avail. I was taken out of the house and put bodily into a waiting car with nothing on but a robe and gown.

"This career girl preferred solitary drinking the blackout.

Chevron CEO says company is embracing, investing in a lower carbon energy system
"What's best performing sector since election day. You'll never believe it energy and we talked about energy. I mean fossil fuels with multiple co vaccines. Right around the corner. The economy will soon be able to reopen which means more demand for oil and gas ray of yours. No i'm not a fan of this industry anymore. I think the long-term press but posthumous have gotten grimmer but there are two fossil fuel stocks that i still consider investable one of them is chevron the big integrated the king of the oils the best of the best chevrons held up surprising well during the pandemic. And it's got a powerful safe dividend of five point seven percent. The only problem the stock is now thirty five percent in the last six weeks. So kennedy keep climbing. Let's take a closer look with mike. He's the chairman ceo of chevron corporation. Get clear picture of the industry and his company said mr. Moore's welcome demand money jim. It's good to be with you all right so you got to solve this for me. As long as i've been in the business always one company that was the best and it wasn't as yours. It was a company called back son. There are a lot of others that were doing. Well now they're chevron and there really is everybody else everybody else being companies. I'm worried about the dividend that article in production. That aren't conservative. What happened to chevron at the other guy should have listened to well jim. Different companies have made different choices as As we came into this and as as we've gone through this so have changed their dividend policies. Some of changed their strategy. Some of change their financial priorities. We haven't our dividend to secure as you mentioned are balance is strong our strategies are intact and there's no they can count on us so we were we were well prepared as As we went through the cycle. And i think that people realize that we've been constant at a time when many others have changed. Now you'll have when it's necessary been aggressive for instance. You were very aggressive in the gulf of mexico drilling wells that are going to produce oil for year. They don't run out those wells. I mean that's just something that you did. Everybody else went away from it. How did she have the dish do that. Jim it's a long term business. Demand for energy in the world is enormous seven and a half billion people on the planet today. By twenty forty there will be nine billion in all of them deserve the things that affordable reliable energy can provide. so we've got to take a long view on investments and at the same time you've got to take a short view in terms of being prepared for markets that are very volatile and unpredictable. So it's an and world actually have to do both. We have to look out the front window. Twenty years down the road and we look out the window of the house today and see what's going on the world today and manage our way through both of those. Let go out twenty years. You bought a company called no one. None well terrific. I visited leviathan. It's an incredible field in metro. Train off the coast of israel. I could see a visionary saying you know what it's time to disenfranchise gas prom company bringing its gas to the west and make it. So there's a pipeline from israel all the way up through central europe and that could be something that's a twenty five year project pie in the sky. Well that's certainly one of the opportunities to commercialise. What is a large gas resource in the waters of the eastern mediterranean office. Real right now at feeds markets in israel egypt and jordan their opportunities to take liquefied natural gas to other markets and certainly longer term. These types of resources often lend themselves to infrastructure developments to feed market. Europe is not not far away so those are all options to commercially develop that resource and supply markets in an affordable reliable manner. So that that's the type of thing that our company does really well and it's a long term view that we have to have to sustain our company at the same time. I've noticed that you need to be able to have common ground with whoever's in the white house. I'm not going to try to say you have to do this do that. Because you're reasonable person. Have come up with it. But if you have a really aggressive. Climate change president and team. Is it perhaps possible that they make it. So that you that you're not able to enjoy your own properties. Well jim we've been in business for over one hundred forty years we've worked with republican administrations with democrat administrations with split government with unified government. And we always start with common ground. Government wants economic development and prosperity for its people and governments want a cleaner environment We look for the common ground and there's always common ground because we're critical part of the economy. We may not agree. One hundred percent with any given administration on everything. But there's usually much more we're aligned on than we're different have different views on and then we sit down at the table and we work our way through those things. We've got different points of view and that's exactly what we expect to do. with this administration and every other one that follows but mike how do you sit down with fund. Managers younger financials. You say you know what we're about trying to be carbon neutral even make it so carbon negative so to speak so chevron can never be a holding embarrassed and better. How much do you think that works good. And they have great dividend policy. We can own what happens if too many managers start thinking that way. Well jim what managers really want out of our industry and out of our company. It's better returns and boil our strategy down to four simple words. Higher returns lower carbon. And we need to do both. And we need to find ways to invest in things that are good for shareholders and also good for the environment if we do just just invest and things are good for the shareholders and ignore the environment. That's not sustainable. And if all we do is invest in things that have an environmental case and they don't create value and returns for shareholders. That's not sustainable. Either so we sit down with portfolio managers of all ages and all levels of experience and talk about how to deliver higher returns and lower carbon That's what people. I think that's been investors are looking for well. How about another way to look at it. Some people feel jim. Do not see the future. Do you not see tesla. Do you not see the hydrogen fuel cells. Judah there's no room in portfolio because it's going to happen fast than you think you think the demands big al twenty thirty years. Probably the way. I too but they feel no mike they feel. It's gone away. Fashion than you. And i think and that has caused me to pull in my horns about a group i really like. Would you have we embrace a lower carbon future. We expect lower carbon energy system. In fact the energy systems always been moving towards lower carbon hundred. And fifty years ago cole came along a displaced would eat and then you had oil and gas and then you had nuclear hydro wind solar hydrogen now. The energy systems always been in transition. And we're investing today in. I'll give you an example renewable natural gas if you've ever driven by dairy farm or a feed lot. There's there's a certain aroma that you you may recall We're actually capturing the waste products from dairy farms now fermenting the those products to create the natural gas product cleaning it up moving it into a pipeline so it can displace fossil fuels so we reduce methane emissions and we create a salable renewable product. So we're investing in things like that. We're investing in nuclear fusion. we're investing in hydrogen. We're investing technologies that can scale and make a real difference and be part of a carbon energy system. This is the history of our company. And i believe it's the future of putting a hydrogen fuel cells all of your incredible gas stations. How about making that statement saying to the rest of the industry and all the espn enthusiasts. Look we are doing something right now. That's economic but it is gonna kill it in the five six years you could do that. Might your this and you've got the balance what we're working on these kinds of things. Jim we come back to. It's an world we've got to have higher returns and lower carbon and so we've gotta find things that work for shareholders and work for the environment and that's exactly what we're working on so i think i think you're going to see our company and you'll see others in our industry that continue to find solutions and this is a challenge that is too big for any one company anyone industry or anyone one country in the world to completely address We're gonna work in partnership with others and continue to advance the you know the state of the energy system which will only grow. Well mike. you've always been the you've been the voice of reason. Your company's been the scientific company all along people should know that chevron has always had the most scientists and engineers at the top might worth chairman. Ceo of chevron sir.
Fishing holds key to Brexit trade deal as talks drag on
"We want to get you the latest on Exit now because hopes for a breakthrough on a trade deal seemed to be on again off again, almost by the minute. So for the latest, we're joined now by David Merrit, senior executive editor for Bloomberg News. And David. I've been watching, I think along with you. The flurry of headlines have seen in just the last hour on where things stand in the Brexit negotiations. Get us up to speed if you could. Yeah, that's right on an office is definitely the right way to describe it in the market, certain reactions that pound whip soaring around. I think it just reflects the really frenetic nature. Off the talks as we really are into this final stretch here, and officials on both sides briefing various bits of the media that things are looking good things looking bad, the most recent reports saying something is imminent this weekend that came out of this morning when there was a bit of uncertainty, the French threatening a veto if they didn't like this deal, saying there was still significant gaps. So you know who to believe. I think what we do know they're still in the room. The pace of the talks really has intensified. What we may need over the weekend is a final political push. That means Boris Johnson, prime minister having a phone call, perhaps with ocean of underlying the president, the European Commission so really broken those final compromises. Both sides probably need to give a few more inches to get this deal done Most of it, though most of the Texas there so we will be waiting. It could come this weekend, but I have. We're afraid I've given up painting, and he did. Deadlines on this, you know, they're only deadline. That really matters is probably the end of transition, and that's December 31st. Right. So we got, I guess just a few more weeks before that comes along. But do we have any indications at this point that we are going to get that top level meeting any time soon between the prime minister and the president of the Sea? We have don't have confirmation, but suddenly things look to be heading that way. And I think it's worth taking a step back here. You know, no. The reporting on the ground, both in Brussels and in London, despite some of the official comments that come out about prom Rooms, disagreements tensions. Those things are kind of normal at this station negotiation. What's really going on behind the scenes, we're told is that career progress is being made. But there are these still fundamental gaps is all the things we know about the fishing access the level playing field that they're calling state aid rules on there needs to be a bit of a barge, Mr Barnier and Mr Frost, the chief negotiators, they cannot do that themselves. They're going to need instruction from their bosses. That's the prime minister and the president the commission, so those two are gonna have to come together at some point. Maybe we're being set up for that as well. There's going to be a grand political gesture. Ultimately, to get this thing over the line. The incentive is there. Neither side wants to be blamed, of course for talks breaking down and for there to be any more economic disruption at this point in time, so we're gonna have to wait and find out the confirmation, But I think that would be the moment to look for over the weekend. All right, well, it is very interesting, though, that France really seems like it's taken an outsize role in these negotiations. I mean, what are the chances that France really could veto a deal of this? Stage of the game. Well, Mr Macron, the President Franz has got slight form on this, of course in not only in the Brexit talks and other big moments in European negotiations, the French going on record today. Say they, Yes, they would trash this deal if they didn't like it. They have actually said this fairly consistently, though, throughout this process, and the French had this big interest in the fishing. Uh, part of this question and also on this kind of state aid that the fairness between the two economies. It's our closest trading partner, the biggest one with Britain, so that relationship is very key. French officials have been touring from the fishing villages in northern France to make a big show of how they are ready for no deal. If it has to happen, But if no deal does happen, those fishing villages are going to be really impacted that they're not allowed to go in. They take the majority of the fish out of the English Channel. If that is stop, that's a big domestic problem. Mr Macron, But he has to be seen to be making us that It's his style, of course, and we've seen it before to make a bit of a stand at this moment in time. But as I said previously the expectations despite what people are saying in public, and he may well be talking to his domestic market, they're more than globally. Ultimately, the people in the room seemed to be making lots of progress. Only about a minute left in our conversation in just a few weeks left until that hard Brexit deadline as you mentioned, is there a sense that some of the sticking points here are just on the Margins or are both sides far enough? Apart from each other that this really could fall apart in the next couple of weeks? I mean, absolutely could fall apart. You know, the history of Britain in the year I'm afraid is ones of both parties talking at cross purposes and on these fundamental questions of sovereignty and who is going to adjudicate over the rules, you know, there is still a significant gap. Someone's got to budge. Someone's gonna blink. Both sides have got big domestic reasons why that is politically difficult for them to do so. Mr Johnson depends on the votes. You people got to me in that landslide last year to get Brexit done in a meaningful way, as he put it. So, yes, the there is a possibility that things fall apart. Both sides of preparing for that New Year's Eve is the deadline, Britain would fall back to the World Trade Organization rules. That means tariffs quotas back backed up Lori's at Dover, potential food shortages on the supermarket shelves and Britain it could be fairly chaotic. They want to try and avoid it, but there still remains a significant chance that that might happen in just a few weeks

Prom at the Polls - Young Voters Taking Charge
"Thanks for being here. So so be tell us about promised the polls, what it's all about and what promised polls doing in the weeks leading up to the elect show prometheus polls is a youth led civic engagement event meant to take back twenty twenty, and we're doing this through a series of social media challenges and different fund ways for young people and adults to get involved and make the voting process. Exciting. We lost our promise graduation. We lost so many things due to the pandemic and we're GONNA, take that back with prompt the polls we are creating excitement around voting through the challenge. Hashtag proposals and Hashtag address up to vote. Those are the two main things that we're working on now and all the way up until the election. So the first one we're using the HASHTAG proposals is challenging someone to go to the polls if you or to vote by mail with you, and we're doing this to create a big wave of youth voters and to get so many more people engaged to wouldn't have before. So if I challenged my friend to vote and they vote with made than they challenged someone else I'm reaching so many more people than if I just voted alone so. You may ask what is a puzzle so a proposal similarly to proposals in highschool for problems or forms it is asking someone to go out with you. So in our case, we're asking people to come with us to the polls or to just vote with us from the comfort of our own home. The other aspect of this is dressing up to vote. So we're using the HASHTAG dress up to vote, and if you participate in any of these challenges, which we really encourage you all to do make sure to use the Hashtag online. So we can spread the word and share the. Content that you're creating but dress up to vote is exactly what it sounds like. It's putting on prom or formal attire and either going to the polling place or walking to your mailbox or going to a dropbox to cast your ballot. But making sure that you're voting in style and just making voting fun and exciting for everyone and up until the election will be participating and we have some really interesting people and Super Cool influencers who are participating, but it really comes down to the youth and the population participating everyday people getting out getting excited about voting and participating in these different challenges. Tell us a bit about how promised the poll started promised. The polls began when you actually introduced the five of us and put us in kind of a think tank room and we all are really passionate about getting out the youth vote and making sure that every young person in this country knows that their vote matters and that their voice matters and we wanted to come up with a fun and creative way to inspire young people to go to the polls to vote and make their voice heard on election day. Nicole Brown celebrities are really stepping forward. So just one quick word of encouragement. Please encourage other folks to get involved in their platforms the way you are. I WANNA say that first of all is not lost there is still time there's eighteen days as a young man named Jerome, Foster, the second who created prompt the polls. That's the thing we joked about at the beginning he's trying to encourage young people to enjoy their senior year at the polls. So find somebody you WANNA, take to the polls and and shout them out and shoot your shot, and then just encourage people to find different interesting Korean of ways to go and make a different voice matters use it out of the first meeting after you connected us we came up with this idea and ever since then have been meeting daily to pull it off and make it happen. Where can people find out more information? We have a website promised the polls, dot com but most of our information at all of our content is on all of our social media platform. So twitter instagram tech, pock facebook you can go there and we'll be posting some super cool content from now until election day on the various platforms and you can find more ways to get involved. They're amazing. And Matthew. What do you think is the goal for promised the polls what do you hope that promised the polls will accomplish I. Think we succeeded if we have even just one person vote in planning on voting before obviously the goal is a lot bigger than that. But at the end of the day when we sit out to start the prompted the Bulls project, you said to results what do We want to accomplish how do we WANNA help and how do we think the country needs to change and one of the big things that we talked about that the vote isn't being considered enough is being cared about enough and there's people in the country in our generation that are voting. So we thought let's take that opportunity. Let's take that situation and make it something fun. Make it something. that. They can enjoy but also make it something that they're going to participate in for the next. However many years they want to see you know really at the end of the day the goal is if we get as many people voting as possible that haven't voted before as many people involved in the political process that weren't involved before and there's many people interested that weren't interested before we've succeeded.

It's right next to the allergies that gym coach was busted for trying to buy coke. Oh, yeah, that was crazy. Not as crazy as when he fucked that Junior in the parking lot behind the softball field. Oh my God, I forgot about that. Yeah, that was nuts off. Anyway, I have it on good authority that the good for nothing piece of human garbage and that total bitch got drunk in the shit whole bar and hooked up that night.

"Family with eleven hundred and thirty nine dollars. Does that include the proposal? I'm telling you these proposals have gotten out of Control Tom. Yeah that there might be drone. Borough a drone. It's for my promises. I best green to the microphone. Kids get so many legs get their parents to pay for so many things by claiming. It's part of a prompt books. Oh because I'm sure parents these well. It's a prompt boats. Very Important and true love is important. Yeah I think. Ninety percent of people mary the people the person they went to the prom with. Yeah I think I think that is the case. And there's also homeschool proms. We're yet to take your mom to the Brown now. You don't get to take your mom to the prom. I'm sure some people do but apparently it's pretty common at homeschool. Proms that It's like a statewide prom where all the kids are. A homeschool can go there and be probably extremely awkward and nervous around each other in the same room and apparently it's very common for parents to choose the music. That's played oh cool. The same way that they chose everything about their kids lives for the last eighteen years. And now it's the big sendoff. They're going to go away and become a well adjusted adult. You know I don't know many people who had been home schooled but the ones I do doing great there same here. Yeah so maybe there's something to it. Maybe I'll homeschool you tim. We can home-school the team we adopt. We'll see you next week. That was a hit gum podcast..

"You must have liked that Tom while they all went through your limo in made sure there is no booze drugs in the Limo They searched you upon entrance to the t the high school cafeteria. And you just kinda sat around for a couple hours. Yeah so it's like even if you try to get drunk like we're GonNa make sit here until you're sober up. Yeah exactly and then at the end. We're like okay time to go to the prom. They walked you to your limo which they already like. You couldn't like oh I stashed something like you had to like wait and be walked with a school administrator to your limo to get in. That would bring you right to the end. I think they even had like A. What is that called when the when the cops drive you somewhere? Like a procession every limo needed another car driven by a parent or or school employees that followed the limo from the school to the good to the prom. Venue to make sure that the limo didn't stop anywhere so you could get booze or drugs. Yeah an escort. That's what you're looking for escort escort. Yeah you brought an escort to your junior prom if I'm not mistaken and you got a lot of trouble I didn't. I did not do that for a very nice girl. The junior prom friends to this day. Yeah who escorted by a grown up there and then they pretty much like made sure that you went straight from the limo to the the prom and then. I think you weren't allowed outside if you like left the Prom. You had to come back. Yes so yeah. It was like it was like going to a common. Gdp Soviet Russia. Tom Yeah no the The vice principal told me what happened. The prime it went to me. Oh I see Soviet Russia. The vice principal told me that Like a few years before they had a prom where I don't know if it was like the first time they were trying it but they had it in. This won't mean anything other people but you'll know place in Farmingdale Hotel in Farmingdale so ag. Not Far is at fifteen twenty minute drive. Yeah probably if that fifteen minutes I'd say maybe it was further. Maybe it wasn't farmingdale. I might be missed remembering that. I am remembering that it was somewhere far. It was somewhere like far out. East like a nice Like a hotel that had like a convention center or something and apparently everyone showed up dislike blackout drunk and like they every limo door. According to the vice-principal they would open up and kids are just like pour out of a puking and They like win in the bathroom and he said all these people were snorting coke off the toilet seat in in the end. Yeah it was just like a debaucherous prom and the main problem was that it was like an hour away from the school. Maybe even more maybe like two hours. It might have been like way out on the east end of Long Island like Hamptons or something and they like couldn't get parents there to come get their kids so like the principal and the vice principal and the chauffeur's like just keep putting kids in their cars and driving them all the way back to To our hometown Babylon and my dumping them out turning around going back and getting more kids so after that they were like you know fuck this from now on the rule is the problem has to be within one mile of the school and there was only one venue that was mobbed owned within a mile of the school. So of course. That's where it had to happen. It wasn't a bad place to be is a nice catering hall. It was fine but we weren't allowed to go out and it was right on the water. Which the selling point. They're like I. I've I've been to weddings. They're just lovely. I think we weren't allowed outside. Because we could have stashed bearn somewhere here. Yeah a mock tales at at current. Prompts YEA I wouldn't be surprised if they do something like that. Yeah we had soda Shitty wedding more or less full of people that you brealey. Don't like yeah and like you're expected to dance but your drunk so like you don't have any confidence dance in your year. The most insecure. You've ever been in your life exactly and that the end of the night they're like they're like All right Also let's end the night with a popularity contest. Let's grab who's the most popular girl who's the most popular boy and they'll be clean. Tom Were you nominated for prom. King no and I was furious because I ran the whole. God Damn Prom I was. I was told you you stag. I was told that I missed getting on the ballot by like one that I was like the next one on the ballot that you know or the first one off the ballot and I was told that by like you know like one of the teachers who is the advisor and I was like right. Okay so let's fix that. We're both in charge here her. How many people in In your class do you think attended what percent of of your class when it was a lot? It was most of the class. Like I mean I I I was one hundred five hundred person graduating class somewhere around there And I would say it was like a good eighty percents probably went. Yes that's I was nominated for Prom King In that was something that was like a rub it in. No no because it is something that has a nominated for king and like you know. I think I was. Well liked enough in my glass but whatever but also. I don't know who chose who was nominated for Prom King. Yeah and figure eight. We had about one hundred kids in our class. So figure fifty guys about eighty percent went to the forty I eight of us were nominated right four then once you once. You like weed out the delinquents and the dirtbags donors like there's probably eleven kids so I like beat out three other people essentially that were acceptable to be like well. If he wins it wouldn't be an embarrassment to the school. I I think I missed out because I did a real bad job being typical lame duck president my senior year and I did a very bad job doing fundraisers throughout the year and the fundraisers the whole point of the fundraisers is to put that money towards the Prom. You do car washes and stuff like that you sell candy or whatever and that money goes towards the prom. The tickets are cheaper for everyone. I didn't really do any of that stuff. So our promptings were very expensive like you had to pay basically face value for these tickets. Can I ask you? It was like going to a wedding for a lot of these. People is like a hundred twenty five bucks would teach you think the duties of class president were because it seems like you just wanted to get elected and didn't WanNa do any of the things. Yeah pretty much sums it up. He can run on that platform to him. That's disappointing to hear that In very scary to hear that you did that junior year and then there is another election in they re elected you. Despite the fact that you didn't know didn't have any interest in doing it. It makes me said for America not me. I'm nervous for America. I did a good job junior year and I think I just kind of realized like I duNNo. I didn't really benefit like personally. I guess I did. I think I made some money somehow but I can't. We are fucked see senior year. I was more. I was mad when I found a 'cause I remember like going to you know the teachers or whatever being like all right. Yeah we're not GONNA have The problem at like that mob owned catering hall this year that sucks. Everybody hates my hotel. We're GONNA have the the motel by the side you might think it's just a place for swingers. But they also do proms and headed behind the hot to store. Yeah because you're so worried about kids going out and getting drunk afterwards now the going the hot tub afterwards. I know and that's how I know about like what happened beforehand because like I had a meeting with the vice principal because I was like this is ridiculous like and he was like all right. Let me lay it on. You like let me tell you what happened and I forget a bunch of the other details like Oh shit. That sounds horrible. Okay I get it but I just kind like lost interest in it. You're you're going on and I had a date. I had a girlfriend for the junior prom. I didn't for the senior prom so as I look in class. One eight at cheaper better prom. Summer Y-. Maybe it was something like that now. It might have been closing time. Yeah I think that's the thing if you if you WANNA make it. If you hit a big figure out a song that can be played at a pivotal point. It's becoming very obvious. The more weddings I go to How many are writing songs? That are like this is the song that people are going to play for their first dance at the wedding. Yeah well I remember after like the mockery arena is big remember then the dip came out. Yeah I put. I put my hand on your hip when I dip you. Dip We dip. Yeah it was like all of a sudden there was just an explosion of like songs that tell you how to do the dance. I guess the Macarena doesn't you how to do the dance but it had a dance to it. Yeah no but like the first Ansong like there's a lot of like some that are like perfectly. The tempo and instrumentation is is right for the first dance and just like. I knew from the first time I've looked in Europe is a wanted to spend the rest of my life with you that for a song. We'll know it's because the for the first TIME EVER MR AND MRS O. That kind of I. I thought you were talking about the first song at a prom. Oh No no. Something about weddings Now the I had a prom needs to be like these days. What about funk do other the do all? The songs have to be sanitized. I don't know I think I think you probably curse it problems now. I think that's how far things have gotten couldn't drink. Didn't do coke right and that's not what I was like. I Dunno like coke like when we were in high school. Coke wasn't a big thing anymore. It was kind of at the low point of COQ. I'm thirty eight years old. I've never seen cocaine in my life. I don't have lived in New York City my entire life. Yeah and you've been in like rock bands played in some very CD places. Yeah like still yeah. Don't see coke. Did you know that the I have a few facts? Wrap up the in two thousand thirteen the average price for a prom per.

"To say nobody else you know is agreeing to something in high school that then you know all right well. That's a decision for life. Now I don't know they make you sign. The student loan papers leaving high school. People still saddled with that stuff. That's true. I guess no more serious than every five years. Send out an email and be like we're GONNA meet at the local bar in town for I. Guess that's what I forget that. That's what Reunions are like nowadays. I remember like my parents going to high school reunions when I was a kid and it was like a big deal. Mike is they were like dinners like they were more formal things but people also used to have to wear suits to work. Tom People used to have to wear suits to work. And landlines are home to and like if even if we don't do if they didn't stay close to their hometown never heard a single thing about what happened into the other people. They went to school with right. But my point was going to be. I was Junior and senior class president so I also had to plan the Junior Prom Aka the debutante Dance Aka the deb which. I didn't realize I was looking at up that apparently that's an Irish thing in Ireland. They Call it the Debutante Ball Aka the deb okay. I didn't see at least on Wikipedia. Any evidence of that being a thing in America but it was a thing at our school for some reason. Yeah Very Irish town. We called it the DEB Yeah I mean we are discreet within the Brogue. I mean we were. Yeah there are you know like most New York suburbs Irish and Italian but like not recent. Like 'cause I can't imagine that like my grandmother had like a debutante ball at her school at her school that stopped when she was ten years old or something. You have learned enough. Get to the fields Yeah they call it the DEB and then For the Italian side. We all had pasta visual for that evening's dish deb. I remember I did put a lot of effort into we had a mediaeval theme Medieval Times Medieval Medieval Times a medieval theme. That's that doesn't suck right about that here idea. I don't remember if it was my idea or not. That's just such a weird thing we're doing. That's a normal theme. I'm waiting I'm looking at Prom night. Dot Com. We got a dragons themed problems. Iris in charge. Everybody loved you know. I'm looking at a prominent DOT com. They have fairytale theme which is very similar to what we know. There's very there's a huge difference between fairy tale in Medieval Times. No we had like nights and horses and there were horses their horses there but I think we maybe like made a cut out of a horse have prom night dot com to go in the gym and it wasn't even in the big Jim in our highschool live. Is the weird thing. Yeah it was in the smaller gym of the to although to be honest like as somebody that had to the L. decorate that Jim That was that was still no easy task. Jim Are big to decorate a gym. So that Like no part of it looks like a gym really I mean. Of course it's GonNa look like a gym. You're not gonNA be able to completely hide it but you couldn't be like all right. Well we're just GONNA like decorate off the half court like you had to decorate everything at least a little bit. Yeah you need a lot of streamers to to make it not look like a gym. Last streamers La Balloons a lot of oak tag. A lot of Like rolls of paper that he put on the wall all that sound. I forgot about this paper rolls. Yeah those are a real pain in the ass or with But yeah so I did do a lot of work for the junior prom but then I didn't do a lot of work for the prom because I didn't have a date to the prom so I didn't really care you were a great class president and I got to see if I can find. There's a prom picture of me. That like my mom insisted on taking and like it's just me alone looking like very moody in like A. You know Sander Tuxedo or something. I gotta find that 'cause is remember being mad. I was like why. Are you taking a picture just like you can use it for your podcast? One day again. I don't even know what that means. Can you send that to me? I'll make it a cover this week. Yeah I'll I'll see if I if my momma can dig it up. So did you go and get a Tux. Yeah I ran Tux. Yeah I rented a Tux to this is why hey teens you should be glad you you don't have to do this stuff The biggest racket in the world a bunch of teens descend on the the one or two Tuxedo places within twenty miles of your home town. Yeah we had to go a COUPLA towns over I remember yeah and like I feel like nowadays. It's acceptable for teenage boy to be like. Hey I wanNA look good. I want to get something like is kind of cool but back then unless you dislike I will take the same thing that everybody over football teams wearing and everybody else's wearing the you're gonNA called slurs the problem yeah. I remember shopping for a Tuxedo. Industry to find like what is the most normal Tuxedo. You have yeah 'cause if at all right like if my Tuxedo has like a lying down at or something I'll never hear the end of it or if it's like a slightly different shade of dark black like and I remember. No Dad. No you go well now I was going to always going to pave it to prom dresses but if you have more to say about the tax oh I was gonna say that I remember to. Yeah these were pretty small rental shops and like I think a lot of the towns had prom like the same weekend or around the same weekend so like the longer you wait to go get a talks and when you're a teen you wait to the last minute to do everything in. Your Life The the slimmer the pickens which was also a problem is I remember getting there and it was like well. We have like Green. Tuxedos with those are still unstuck are Brown Tuxedo. Section is still there ally logging choices. There I remember Before my from my date told me was my girlfriend at the time that she could. Her visa from. Canada didn't come through so she could go now. She called me up and she's like Just you know my prom dress. It's blue cool. And then I then I showed up on prom night. Also wear the Tux that I was like issued. You do something. So like jocks won't make fun of me like give me whatever that is the baseline toxin. She was so upset. She said I told you. My address was blue. What didn't you take that information and use it to get the right talks. Apparently my Tux clashed with. Here's a black Tux. But I think it had maybe like I dunno right layer on it. Yeah something like that. So here's a tip for future teens. Not this year but if your prom date is telling you something. There's a reason telling you that. Yeah no I listened as a cool. Can't wait to see this blue dress going to be great. What you should have said was cool. Is there something I should do with that information? But when you're a teen you don't know two hundred percent. Yeah teams are dumb yeah Limo dish take a limo to the to the PROM. Tickle LIMO TO THE JUNIOR PROM. I did not take a limo to the senior prom. That a racket Indiana twenty or kids still impressed by limos or they're like ooh going to be in a stretch limo or is it just like the only thing we know about limos is that they're dirty and sometimes I met news. There's limo tragic lake a little too often because like like technically street legal. They're technically street legal. I think they're probably just like not the safest cars around. Well I mean most limos are like aftermarket created so they're not pressuring factory. Yes it's not like the Ford stretch. Limo is like a regular car than some some mechanics are leaky. We can cut in half and put another car between it. Yeah When we were teens that was when the stretch. Hummer became a thing. I think yeah now is like that was Primo. If you at a stretch hummer I just remember like Arnold Schwarzenegger road around in all the time. I just remember when I was a teen Even as a teen rather renting a limo I was thinking like who the hell wants to be in this business of renting cars fifteen inches and not only renting cars two teenagers but having a drive him around and I remember like I don't even know how I found the the Limo. 'cause I organize the Limo for like a group of people at my junior prom and I remember like ano just having a like go. This guy's house and he's like as the Limo. You'd take a look inside if you will like an. I need this much money. No drinking no smoking you drink you smoke a turn the Goddamn thing right around. I'll tell you all get the hell out of my limo. You got it but then did he wink at you know. I think he was serious. I don't know of. He was serious or not. All I know is that everyone in my limo heated me because I was adamant like nobody can drink in this limo. I Yeah I put it down to sixty dollar. Deposit Down Your. There's no l. ever recoup that money from any of you. Well then I also remember it was like a you know we had nowhere to go so is like hey can you dislike drive us around and he was like. Nah. I'd like guy. Give me a place to go so I was like Drivers to the Empire State Building so like we drove from our town a into Manhattan to the state building. That was like all right. Where your now's like Drive us to the Statue of Liberty. I can't drive a statute of liberty. Katie need a boat Drive us to the Brooklyn Bridge like just naming things that he would have to keep driving. What were you doing out just like sitting in the back of the LIMO being like? Hey Is there having fun? And nobody was because they couldn't drink. Yeah and like some people are making out and groping groping in the limos. I think that's why the Limo drivers are into it The rear view. Watch that in that. Hey that's not something you see every day but it is something he sees every day. I don't know what happened in our town before Previous proms all I do. I can tell you but continue by the time My Prom rolled around. You weren't allowed to go to the PROM. Which was at a Catering Hall near the water in our inner to unless you showed up. I think two hours before at the pre prom party at the high school in what you would do you drive there in your Limo. You'd get out of the car and go into the To the high school cafeteria. Where all the MOMS and dads would be and You decide snacks. Rice crispy treats There are some sodas there..

"Students Teens around the world right now are in cocktail dresses and Tuxedos slow dancing us talking town Yixin part. Of course boy. The the nuns at the Catholic school would love the this having a problem. During this time they're obeyed. Stay six feet apart. The nuns could never enforce the the distancing at the prom. Right you'd have an outbreak in the. It'd be all the nuns fault because they weren't tough enough to stand up to the teens now. No nuns have no problems standing up to teens believe you me. The I know Tom I know mentioned this a lot on the show before but nuns love me so anyway do you proposals. Yes although explain it because I thought I did but now I don't well when we were God. This is really turning into when we were young. This thing didn't exist like I don't remember asking someone to the Prom. Yeah taking an electric car to the prom. I don't remember watching a program on television and leaving and going to the probe bringing the phone to the problem of boy. That's going to be an awful long cord. I don't remember knowing about the existence of channing. Tatum as a person when I went to the prom. And things are different. These days But you were saying. The the idea of proposal didn't exist yes so now with the kids do You know how when Adults ask other adults to take their hand in marriage. They often do in a less elaborate The proposal situation Maurya grabbed. You had a choreographed dance with an entire town to ask your wife to marry you if I remember correctly. No that didn't happen Tom. You'll never know how I propose to her. It was at a parking to answer. Damn it's lovely I got. I got dirt on my knee. I went down on a did the thing in the down one knee. I hope that wasn't the first thing you said after you went down. I got dirt on my knee. You marry off fuck my pants and stupid pants. Look what you made me do. Prompt Oh yes high school kids do this to ask another person to the to the high school prom. Yeah it has to be elaborate. You can't just go up to them in the hallway and say hey you wanna go to the prom to it's more than oak tag to you have to get like a glitter and stuff. I think well yeah. So what you're talking about is that they have to do with like a sign that has like a pun on it or something like something funny but also there has to. There's often like a prank involved. I think like you trick somebody into thinking that they're you're about to be asked to the prom but in the in the there. I think you have to play Koi with the person you want to ask and pretend like. You're maybe knocking to ask them so that when you do then do an elaborate asking. It's a bigger deal but again to be like the the pro proposals. I've seen don't seem all that elaborate. They seem like nicely made signs. And that's about it yeah. I think it's a good way to show off your creativity but the teams this year. Getting robbed of that opportunity can still creatively. Ask somebody to go the promise. Just then well but that's worry about that later. I get the person who agreed to go to the problem with you. I think first order of business once once we're out of the house. Let's get a bunch of problems going I I know. Let's get the prom industry back in. Do you know about Prom night dot com Tom. It's not what you think actually from an it. It's A. It's a brilliant business. Tom Okay sell all for like PROM. Planning Committees of which you were. The head of your of your class was the head of my class. Tim Thank you for that because no you schools on the show head of the class. He's the computer nerd who sat in the back of the class in now is a famous We would foot you were. Yeah I know that guy. Thank you to him. All right Sell all the things all like you pick a prom theme and then they sell you all the props for Okay so I mean Prom night. Dot Com after twenty twenty. They're they're screwed right because their margins campy right so you got to be sitting on an unbelievable amount of merchandise right now. Yeah so they have starlet. Fantasy complete theme starlet. Fantasy comes with a dancing. The Stars Twenty twenty numbers kit into these giant numbers that are like all Sparkley. That people can Pose in front of a sparkly balloon clouds. you know they they have all these things that you can decorate your problem with Tom. You're the president of your class. So you're in charge of planning the prom. Yes well kind of thought went into it in in one thousand nine hundred ninety nine. The year of your problem sit-in years I was no is my twentieth high school reunion. Knocking have is not gonNA happen. Tim You're going to have something to complain about for the rest of your life. This is great. I don't have to go and get to be like well. I never had my twentieth reunion so I wouldn't know what that's like. Yeah whereas all the people in my class just to say oh. I didn't have my twentieth Reunion I guess Tom didn't organize it. But again in my in fairness I didn't find out that that was part of the GIG until I had already won an election. I didn't sign up for something that have to do the rest of my life. Well you didn't know nobody had been doing any of this stuff. Well them to say nobody else you know is agreeing to something in high school that then you know all right well. That's a decision.

"Yeah you know them. That would be a good way back to give back not to get past. That would be good way to get back at teens. No I mean. Is there a way that we can have some sort of mentor? Teen Mentoring Situation. And then we can classify this whole endeavor as a charitable organization who yeah either that I mean this all and maybe we'll get an award from the community. This all ends with US eventually committing some guy of tax fraud but also if we could do that and at the same time be recognized as pillars the Rienzi. Yeah like a lions club would be like. We need to give tip and Tom Award for all their mentoring. The next done probably giving them their own lion do that. What is the Lions Club? That's what they do to you to get in. You have a line so I think they give you a lion if if they want you in the club because they know like getting your first lions hard his anybody that you're looking to buy a lion from there and ask. What have you ever taken care of reliant? Before the answer is no they're going to be very hesitant to sell you align but if you've got one and you and you give them you know the special lines club handshake with the growl at the end. Then they know they know they can trust you to sell a line to Tom so still talking to the teens here. Okay right and me too I can also hear you. You can listen but I'm really am in fact. No you can't listen. You take your headphones off to take my headphones off. I won't know when to put them back on again. I'll give you the highest thing you know. I'm GonNa tell you can just leave him you. Can you can log off for like air. Maybe we could just make this between me and the teens. Today Tim's Teen Chat. Yes teen talk. No Tom's allowed Tom. I hate that you're not allowed to be around teams right. Tom Mouloud to be around teens. Him Look this is a tough time for teams. A lot of them are missing their. Proms This year in that too. And that's that's tough. Do you remember your prompt him. I do it wasn't that great but I do remember it. Yes see. That's the thing it's such A. You're missing your prom but Prom suck But it sucks that you're missing it but also on the bright side. You'll be able to complain about this of Your Life. You'll be home complaining about it yet. This is this is something I guess. What might seem like the idea that we're telling teens but guess what you'll have something to complain about. Bad Somehow better teams. Don't like to complain about. I guess they do but they'd rather dislike the thing that they're complaining about. It's only old curmudgeon. Like me and knew that would rather have something complain about than have the thing. Yeah nobody and that's what I'm saying I'm trying to. I'm trying to get these teen some perspective here because it seems like it's sex. Seems like you want this. You don't want to go to the Prom and you realize that like halfway through the problem. You're just like this is what I wanted to do. This isn't what I wanted to do now. So you don't have to do that even though like you'll you'll never have that realization. Google's this Kinda sucks but you will have like you know what I was that year. We didn't get problems and then people be like. Oh Man but throw this guy is from. Let's say from. Yeah every birthday for the rest of your life will be a full-blown from a prompt beam birthday. It's better than a birthday. Themed PROM. My mom team has birthdays. That'd be amazing. From theme birthdays scene was fifth birthday. Party clown Babic Great Prom EFT up in movies numb kid's birthday party. There's always a magician. There you ever go to a birthday party when you were a little kid. That had a magician. No maybe like one or two with like a clown. I don't even remember that. That would have been exciting to make clown kid. I don't yeah I bet you are. They clown clown came to preschool. Taught us all had to be clowns. Sang a song about being a clown. He was selling a book. I bought the book parents. Yeah I was GONNA say. Do you know that you probably read by then I could? I could read in kinder- in Preschool? Really wow yeah. It was really smart. Peaked really early to. I was GonNa say what Evan went off the rails at some point. Yeah I learned how to read in kindergarten but is currently still read at a second grade reading level. I didn't progress much from there now. Well you got cocky is what it is. Yeah this Guy Turk pipkin wrote this book called via clown. No I remember that but probably because I read that book cover to cover a thousand times before I was six years old but then I never really saw any clowns that one time. Yeah I mean back when we were little kids they let us to believe that being a clown was like a much more Possible profession like God. It's not a real viable career path. Now I mean there are people that do it but there are few and far between. Yeah be a clown in this economy. No thanks Turk pipkin. Yeah What was your point? They get to complain about it. Look more you get to. This'll this'll this'll be some capital for you to spend this whole summer these these past couple months in the in the next couple months will be capital that you can spend With your elders for years to come like I was robbed of so many things at a pivotal point in my life. Yeah what did you see? these These teens that took the sat the other day standard aptitude test yes standardized staffed us. Yeah something like that man. I saw thing the other day with a mark. Ruffalo an interview on Graham Norton and he was talking about Doing Agr for a movie and he called it like automatic dialog replacement and like that's what it is. It's additional dialogue recording mark. Ruffalo really. Yeah unless there too was replacement at least automated. Seems not automated. I don't know they. They have machines that do it. Now that they know the whole point is they couldn't get a machine to do what they had to get Mark Ruffalo to do it audio. What about Audio Automated Dialogue Replacement? What Mark Ruffalo was right. He knows more about movies than me. Is that what? You're trying to tell me Tom. Here's the thing if it was anybody but mark Ruffalo I would have piled on vk man these attitudes Hollywood elites they think they know what these acronyms are but mark Ruffalo standup guy never met. But I'll go to bat forum so I'm sorry I'm sorry to make a fool of you in front of all the teams that are listening to this. I thought you were going to give a real ominous. I've never met him but I will one day. Yep I will now don't think I will and I don't aspire to meeting celebrities. Tom Yeah they don't WanNa talk to you and you have nothing inter interesting to say to them most birdies. I've you WanNa meet me really. Well THEY WANNA meet a fellow celeb- WanNa hear about all the parties away whether the parties you go to Tom There's a lot of things. John Krasinski had prom for for teens. Jim from the office I did see a little bit of it. Oh let me just finish what I was. GonNa say before though about the sat's apparently like when you're doing the written part yet to take a picture of it and send it in. The website didn't work with the default way. Iphones take photos. So why you know. Iphone PHOTOS ARE B S. Man. We send them to my computer. And it's this this weird four mad that I can't do anything with Steve. Jobs screwed this one up. He can finally admit that Steve Jobs doesn't know what he's doing. It's a new. It's a relatively new format. That's better than Jay peg but not as widely adopted. Obviously he can't even open it in Photoshop CRIPES SAKE. I think he could probably open it in fresh tried yesterday. Tom I think maybe they update the updated today. Maybe they might. Have you had to take a picture to prove that you weren't cheating no not to prove your cheating but it was like you would right? You know your essay Longhand You know like the like the old days they still do it that way. So that it's like well. How are you gonNA hand it to us? You can't handle it to us. You got to take a picture of it But of course there's a time limit so I people were were coming up in all right all right done with two minutes left. Go and take this picture and uploaded. I've gone over it a million times to make sure it's perfect us all my time and What's this and error and then like Oh shit. Oh Shit Oh shit. So what happened would they do? They failed and they have to take it again. No that's not true that's true. The College Board didn't go like okay. We're GONNA give you know because it's time it's time test so it's like well. What were they going to do? Just be like all right. We'll take it the the essay that you're supposed to have like an hour to right. We'll take it even though now you've had like a data right it maybe man few years of really Laid Bare Hell. Ak- nothing if you put stress on anything doesn't really work the way it's supposed to. Yeah everybody and everything should take it easy. Everybody should relax for a minute. Cheaper creepers but you were saying. John Krasinski had a prom. Was that why he was arrested. I saw something about that on the news now. He had a virtual prompt. Oh okay he was doing this thing. Lick Heck we'll put your feeling on John Krasinski. I don't know you know to mount home. Well enough I haven't met him yet me neither but my thing is always like us on that show. Here's on the office. And he was a beloved character on that but then by the end of the series everybody is like he's kind of like a dushi character. Yeah once he got everything he wanted he kinda turned into a jerk right.

"To everything a podcast about everything I am one of your host. Tom And I'm Tim Tim. We're in the same city again. Can't beat it. The greatest city on her. Yeah I mean we're burning through. We both we. Both Quarantined in a hotel in Pittsburgh were saying different rooms saying in separate rooms for two weeks and then we're GONNA go into one room together so we can finally record together from now on yeah and then to the pool well a damn. I've told you multiple times. We can't go. I don't think the pools even open up the hotel in Pittsburgh named Hot Tub surely is the hot tub hot. That might be all right. I think the it's hot enough to boil off any potential Viruses I like to get a hot tub to like a hundred in seventy hundred. Eighty degrees really get a cooking. Yeah Man. I wish When I was on a vacation before all this started I thought the place we were going to the house we were renting Hud Tub and then it didn't have a hot TUB would had a hot tub. It belong to a different like property and I was real upset. I was just upset recently about it because I was thinking I should have been paying attention to like. I should have gone on the website and seeing what nights that property was available for rent and then I have no. Nobody's in there. I can go use a hot tub. No Yeah you blew it. Yeah if I had a hot TUB. I'd go him hot tub for six hours a day. Seven hours ten. That's a good sleep in the arte. I get so mad when I go to somebody's house. I mean this doesn't happen that often but like you go to somebody's house and it's like Oh we have a hot tub and it's all on a hot tub. God it's not set up right now or whatever. How have that thing? Ready to go at a moment's notice. Yeah heat these people that are like I have a hot tub. It's not a big deal. It's not that great. Shut up asshole you. It's great in. Yeah give me that. I think they just don't want you in me in their hot tub Tom. Well that's for the oldest. Let's set it up and it takes so many things that may Tampa so many things I wanna try. That belong to friends just aren't sat upright right now. This can't use them. Hey I really need to use the toilet soap right right now tom. You did mention back in New York. Yes Oh no wait. I want to go in a pool all the time to get off my chest if anybody has a pool right now. You're not allowed to complain. Oh Yeah well. I mean the and still complained. I think but but you have one less reason to complain. I would say they can still complain but me and you. We can complain about all the same things that they're complaining about. Plus not having a pool exactly yes agreed It happens less with pools though. Like where pool if you're getting a pool that's like a commitment. You GotTa have the pool ready to go every season where I feel like a lot of people by hot tubs. And then they realize it's kind of a pain in the ASS and like expensive Theron American and then those hot tubs. Just degradate degradate. Until they're they're useless great degrade degrade. What are we doing return? They return to the earth ashes to ashes dust to dust. They go too hot tub. Hell no hot TUB. You know to go to heaven HOT TUBS. And Go to hell. Yeah 'cause they're hot they they like it on there to be honest with you. The Devil's bathtub is what they call it. Lucifer's river violent hot tub shop. I called it the devil's bathtub to be great. Probably get a lot of swingers coming in there to buy hot tubs. Going there to think that it's a place where they could swing. I think you can probably swing at most hot TUB SUPPLY STORES. You think like after hours. They locked the doors. And you put your seasonable. Yeah even after hours. I bet you know like any of those places that are family owned. I bet you could just ask like. Hey how about you in the Mr? The WanNa Swing Navy area buying cleaner in the market for hot TUB. So you you you you know or number. He you know we're looking to swap spouses at some point here else. Why are we investing in this hot tub? Even that happens at the waterbed store also one hundred percent A to. I can't tell has some. I've seen a waterbed store though they're coming back. I think that's what's going to lead the recovery. Maybe maybe you don't see waterbed stores because yeah how much space is a waterbed. I'm shocked you know in this day and age of all these Like a foam ship. Ship. -able mattresses you know we. We've done ads for my have on here. I love it that the hot tub or the waterbed people haven't tried to squeeze in like guess what takes up even less space in a box a waterbed fill it with your own water. Like look at our boxes half the size of You know one of those other like a casper mattress or whatever like no see. That's that's your problem. See is The waterbed it's a waterbed scene. It's not your you know you. When you buy a waterbed you're buying into being part of a a sleazy community. Yes so if you're if you're if you're ordering it online That defeats the purpose. You're not gonNA need other creeps. Yup I I forgot that. A lot of the waterbed industry runs on a subscription model. That you have to be a part of a club. Once you buy a waterbed. Is there like a water? Bid Sub. Read it I've sure there is. I still don't understand how waterbeds became the sexy beds because it seems like it'd be very hard to do anything sexy on a waterbed. Everything's sloshing around in. Like whoa seems like a fun bed like maybe the bed to you know. Jump on but not that. Never jump on a waterbed stoneware either. Yeah you similar younger listeners. Might Try Tom. And that's that's not a good example to stay. I'm trying to remember. I think as a kid I did know somebody whose parents had a waterbed and like as a kid it was like holy the this all. I'm interested in at this house now. I don't care if you've got a super nintendo. I WanNa see this waterbed leopard print sheet. Probably like you can't go on my parents or smells disgusting in there all the time Tom Today. I WanNa get into things a little bit early because I I. I want to talk about the teams address. The teens I think eighteen. What percentage of people listening right now or teens I think a very small percentage of teens are listening to the show. I think there are probably some people that listening to this show still that as teens but I don't think we're getting new teens in. We're too old we've aged out yet. Teams have no no interest in what we have to say now. We're now getting close to their parents age. They don't there's some of them are their parents age. Definitely so when we're older than their parents the imagine that and imagine they look to us as authority figures and save their parents and their minimum. Melvin off to their parents down. I'm like timid. Tom Would let me get a waterbed. That's why I imagine a lot. Teens fight their parents about nowadays. Yeah that in like two mentone let me go to the Swinger Party. The HOT TUB store. I think a swing a hot TUB party last place. A teen wants to go. Don't want to hang out at a at a swinger party. Yes and I'm going to be like. Hey young adults are here. Yeah I mean he could probably run up pretty good abstinence program by taking teen to swinger parties and showing them what you know what happens there much like the. Nude beach near our house when we were growing up. Yeah that's what kept me absent as a team. Seen seeing what age does that the human body Tom. I feel bad for everybody right now. It's tough times and I think it's well you say you don't feel bad for people with a pool. Yeah but I do feel bad for teens. I think most of all did we talk about this. I don't think so. I know if I were a teen right now with all this going on who? I be a nightmare. An absolute nightmare. Because I would like no. I can do this. It's fine. It's fine look a website. That said it's fine. Let me go hang but summertime when you're a team is the best time of your entire life and we have talked about that recently. Yeah for here's the thing teens. Kinda in this is from my experience. Thank you as an elder teen. No when I was teen you kind of think like being a teen sucks because it like does this at the time right because you can't do stuff that you WANNA do. That adults are allowed to drive cars drink beers but then later you realize that like being a teen was the best and your life now sucks right and you realize. In retrospect it really wasn't that hard to get beer. You could drive a car at like seventeen in New York. That was fine and also like nobody likes. Sometimes you go get a job in the summer but nobody ever really needed to rely on you for anything. No you didn't like nobody. You didn't have to do anything no way with not doing anything like at least for US growing up It like in the suburbs know and and having it pretty easy like Yeah some are like you have to get a summer job and then once you have that summer job even if it doesn't pay that well you'll have more disposable income than you've ever had your life the spend on trump's shit. You won't even really had to do anything at work when you get there. Yeah people wouldn't expect much even if it's a hard job like people will expect that you'll fuck it up constantly because you're a teen fine. He's don't know that much. It's fine you should. You should embrace not being expected to know much. Yeah nowadays I'm expected to know everything. People look up to me and it's not always easy tim. Sometimes it's difficult you and I especially were seen as an authority by so many people around the world right. Heavy is the crown. Yup The tell you the number of messages we get from upset parents every week telling us that their team has told them they wished him and Tom Were. Their parents could fill up a hard. Drive if you'd like us to be your parents. Email us at the complete guide to everything at gmail.com. We should adopt a teen for the summer. Summertime not in real life. We should mentor to you. That might be a good way to give back..

"I feel like senior. Prom is the super exciting prom that all the seniors have to go to and I didn't go to junior prom so it would have been nice to go all out for senior prom. I heard John Kaczynski's hosting a virtual prompt. Yes welcome to from class of two thousand twenty. We're all doing it safe from home. Thank you for coming. I we could potentially do one of our song. That's all right. Try to turn this party up a notch. That would be the best thing I've ever heard do it last night actually did end up going to John Krasinski Prom which was kind of fun and somehow did almost make me feel better feeling. He well did the. Jonas Brothers Billy eyelash Fini's perform which I thought was kind of cool and I mean of course it's one hundred percent not the same because my classmates aren't here but it was almost comforting to see people performing and spending their time to make senior feel better instill tried to give us some sort of memorable experience. And that's it glass for. Two Thousand Twenty. The craziest weirdest from just happened anything this for now. We're looking forward to getting through this. Thanks for listening.

"Susan Burton is one of the producers of our show. We first broadcast this story back in two thousand and one and just a few months after prom and a few weeks after our story ran will the teenager whose father died and whose house was destroyed. Who talked about how his family couldn't get a break and how doomed he thought he died in a car accident ending to that story. But that's what happened Some things go around even at the senior prom one storm in and this little town. Everything got turned upside down. Let me set. The scene was Danson where the Brown just wind should got carried out by a big old tornado on dance flow tornado on the dance coming up. They've been juniors in high school since the year. Nine thousand nine hundred eighty two so when they say and this is a direct quote we have been dreaming about. Prom night for years. Today's program for Prom season and country where schools been called off and promised been canceled. We have stories about the greatness and terribleness that is prom. We've arrived at two of a program to save the last dance for me again. So pretty in pink and Carey and Buffy and high school musical three Polian dynamite and too many other movies and TV shows to name. They all eventually end up at the PROM. But why why the PROM? Why is it so omnipresent well for answers? We turn to Francine Pascal. Who's written invented the hotlines for seven hundred books in the Sweet Valley high series which of course the adventures of Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield twins and seemingly permanent high school juniors. She spoke to us from her home in France. Well I have to say that the problem is probably the quintessential glory of high school. It's the moment that comes closest to the romantic vision of life. I think it's it. It repeated again only one other time and that would be marriage. I mean it's it's that important in in the high school life in the teenager life in that pre life before adult as interesting so so as an a traditional drama. Where where you where? You'd want the characters to end up in marriage if you're writing about teenagers all you've got is the prom back about it. That's right and out of the seven hundred bucks. I'll probably prom is mentioned in at least five hundred of them but I would say there's probably a major goal in almost thirty thirty five. You mean thirty five or so books actually take place at the prom. There's an actual prime in them. There is a problem as the plot goal or a very important part of the plot. I can give you just ideas of it. I think in the second book I did a plot about who is going to be the king and Queen of the Prom and you know rigging the election and it sent I just to give you an idea. plots on Getting a date for the prom. Somebody who has no date for the prom the wrong date for the problem to date the turns out right for the prom and I know there was a plot about this poor girl. Her brother had to take her. I mean that's permanent trauma and then there's the other thing with no money for the prom dress. Then there's the one about you think he's going to ask you the ask someone else. And every I mean when you're when you're involved as many plots as I am You know they. They begin to fall into categories. And there are things like the bet plot the bet wager like a wager. Bet Plot or the pledge plot Where this? The boy asks the girl on a bet to go to the prom or the pledges. He has to ask the least popular girl in the in the class to go to the PROM. And then she finds out and then he really wants to go with her put too late. She's furious in that. Takes a whole book to settle down. It seems like one of the Common Prom. Plots is that the prime forces choice between potential dates and often. It'll be the good-looking. Unattainable boy or girl is one possibility and the smart funny best friend is the other possibility exactly. I've used that sort of thing. There's also a perfect because though these people are not going to be living for the rest of their lives and not legally married or anything but they do have to make that first important choice of the person they are going to spend that momentous evening with C. and it's almost a mini marriage kind of choice in book number one forty two in the sweet valley series of a stray the big night. You have not one not two not three. But four characters who ended up switching their dates at the prom and one girl tries to kill her date. Oh that's that's a That must been a thriller court. Coordinate tries to push Off of the of of a boat railing into the into the water and Elizabeth is in a speedboat following. Yeah right yes well you know I. That's just a variation on a theme. That's all you have to do something slightly different with them. When you're on one hundred and forty listening to you talk about this. It seems like what the Prom Does and what it gives you as a writer is it gives you a natural Arena where there can be a conflict over love and an out And without the problem you'd have to invent some situation which would feel like it has weighed. Where's the prompt? Just has the weighed exactly because the problem is it's a natural. It comes filled with all kinds of emotion. Just the mention of the problem. You don't have to create something and build it up and give it terribly important. You don't have to do any of those things yourself. I never went to my own prom. I was not interested strangely enough. I I didn't like high school very much at all. It's funny that I ended up writing so much about it. And what did think of Prom? I really was not interested I. I felt that I was too sophisticated and mature for that sort of stuff and I didn't I never I never really participated beyond writing speeches for the political candidates and being on the newspaper. That's what I liked but beyond that I just didn't have an interest in it. You care to go to the prom. And so you've now somehow fate has put you in a situation where you've had to revisit it over thirty five times. So yes it's my punishment but I it's it's different because I don't have to show up there the chiming Francine Pascal. Creator of Sweet.

"That was definitely the problem of all problems. I mean it was a horrible horrible experience to go through but it was definitely a problem if all problems. I mean it's like something that everybody's GonNa remember like some people they look on. Prom you look back on prominence just a prom night. You know everybody knows what happened. You know they know what's going to happen a problem. They know what promise you know? But now we can say what happened on prominence really big event. Now you know. I guess it's one that you'll never forget really. I mean think prom night and I think Tornado I mean everybody's GonNa remember it for that. Usually the story of promised one of disappointment year in the bathroom crying during the slow dance. Or you throw up at the hotel room party or you go home feeling silly for having been so excited about something so meaningless. The teenagers in Hoisington got the kind of Prom story. Everybody wants they got a legendary prom the night that actually did change their lives. I mean it's like I went to Prom my sophomore junior years and it was a dance. It was problems nice and it was fun to get all dressed up but it was like the prom that taught a lesson you know wasn't just it became our cars and clothes and were so important and family and friends. And it's a big lesson about humanity. I think everybody there. Everybody had a new perspective of life. Walking OUT OF THAT PROM. A whole different Just having fun when actually outside. It's like totally opposite. People are in their basements stuff. Falling down houses are gone. People are actually losing stuff somewhere in prom style Danson when the tornado had snapped heads. Were still free of everything just like still having a good time. It's like totally different. When you walk outside like you you step out of the safe zone. You go into another world or reality. Hits.

"Drove around for awhile. Believe what I saw like houses down to know you know like like the one house had like a big chunk ripped out of the top of it. You know like a T. Rex walked up and took a bite out of the top of the roof and stuff it was. It was pretty amazing. My cousin had separate car from my aunt so he took me as close as he could get me to my house and I just got out and I ran to my house. I was jumping our power lines and tree limbs and everything my you S. in flip flops. But I got there. This is Elena. She lived on six three right where the tornado hit. My mom she has she cooked. That's supper that night. She had a crystal pitcher like ice. Tea Synon- Our table. It was still fine after the tornado is still sitting right there on the exact spot on the table and been touched on. The roof was completely off kitchen. You could stand in our kitchen. I'm look up and you'd be looking up at the sky that night kids walked all over. Hoisington with flashlights. All the places they could think to go the dairy queen the Bowling Alley the grocery store the football field. We're gone. It wasn't just that something and finally happened. In HOISINGTON HOISINGTON had become an entirely different town. We're in now at ground. Zero my houses in Ground Zero. I arrived in Hoisington about two weeks after the tornado and Elena took me on a tour. Era Thing is normal on the sides. You can't even tell anything ever happened whole. Sections of the town was still perfect. There were people on Porches Shiny Party balloons tied to mailboxes. Then we crossed over. A lot of the west side had already been bulldozed. Now is just dirt and basements and house parts. Wanted their someone's front steps or kitchen cut away like a room in the dollhouse and of course this is Kansas. The main street in town is a red brick road. Lots of people had spray painted their cars and houses and boarded up windows with references to the wizard of Oz. Everybody like right Steph. About Dorothy and toto on their houses like our house we had all the windows boarded shut. We had all kinds of things on there. We had like we're coming for you. Toto and Like deer doors e I miss you if somebody finds me. Please pack me and Send Me To Oklahoma Love Toto to the kids in Hoisington. It started to seem like the tornado made choices. Why would it knocked on a house? But not even break the glass on a framed photograph of bridesmaids and Purple Dresses. All kinds of weird stuff. That's happened like when they wouldn't Adams Room. The only thing they found left in the room was the movie twister. I don't know some people found a prom last. And they're covered and is from nineteen sixty three and they didn't have any kids. They were an older couple may not have any kids graduated that year and they have no idea where it came from but they found in their covered. Some TEENAGERS STARTED TO LOOK FOR LOGIC. And who was hit and who was spared. I'm told that the junior class got it the worst. And it's a known fact. They've been jinxed since the fourth grade addy who lost her house and Brooke who didn't tell me that attias bad luck and Brooke is good luck that they joke about this all the time that even at the moment the tornado destroyed Hoisington Brooke winning a prize at Prom. We'll took the whole thing a lot harder huge like you know that we just can't get a break that we just can't get lucky wheels. Dad died several years ago. Had A heart attack on his birthday and unless the house will lived in since he was little got too expensive. I mother and the family had to move out. The House was on the east side and the Tornado didn't touch it even still when I drive by there look at the House and wonder what it would have been like. If the tornado hit we still live at that house? You know and you know. I wonder if you know if I still lived there with the tornado of come that way and hit hit us there. You know 'cause you know maybe it was hit because somebody you know that was going after you now. If I did live in that other house you know that maybe I would. Have you know the tornado probably would came out over on the east side? You know that'd probably still would have came through and something to the house is just the way I believe..

"What happens when a prom meets a tornado. When two events that often end in disaster collide the day that both prominent tornado came to Hoisington. Everyone tells me with ominous foreshadowing started out sunny but looked stormy by dinner. It was sprinkling by the time everyone park their trucks. Outside the Knights of Columbus Hall on Main Street they ducked and ran inside to calm crowded with people taking pictures. I mean it was like as a basketball game or someone's like her eyes after a little bit. This is Shaun. He's a junior. He videotaped the prom partly so he could show his mom what she missed from here. He and his classmates tell. The story took him in and before people finally starting dancing. We got there late to like as soon as we got there right at eight o'clock so soon as we got the dance party started. We just started dancing. We danced for like an hour. Or so. You know now about an hour. And then the lights sort of flicking off and on like it. Didn't like flicker Kinda went off and then come back on you know and people just some people like my friend. Tan is kind of scared of the dark. You know so. She's freaking out fun you know so normal blackouts thing you know. There's a lot of people screaming and yelling. You know just acting like fools and stuff. I was too and They I yelled at one time. Hammy that beer breakout the keg and stuff like that and the lights went back on. Everybody just kind of looked around and went on your way one evening thing. The door kept opening and we knew we could hear was really. We knew what was getting Wendy outside. And someone had said that it had started to rain and people would go out and look and it was like rain coming in horizontally. It was just blown down the street and we didn't think anything of it. It was just oh we have to go out and this later. Didn't think it was as bad as what it was. They're playing survivor from destiny's child and that was like the next to last song for the lights blacked out who who would know you know. He would have thought that that song would be playing the last time at that. A Tornado right before rip through our town light fan out the second time. Everybody's just kind of stood around and everything waiting and you know like hurry up. Turn the lights back on. Komo on this sucks. We're standing around from you know. Dj's came out and they had like a long stick and they're trying to get everyone to do like limbo just to keep us entertained and why the lights were out because it could have any music or anything like that. So they had a line of limbo going through and that was when our principal told us that we needed to go downstairs. Shortly after the lights went out the door of the Knights Columbus then was basically sucked. Open the principal opposing tonight. School at that point I walked over and you could feel the pain. Glass kind of vibrating. A little bit and it's subsided a little bit. I stepped outside and as I stepped outside and ambulance was coming down the main street with the PA saying get in the basement came out to get more beer and drugs. Leaving out here and the rain is coming down hard everybody. You're not secure as a serious. I'm out tape. An issue just came up just started saying that stuff and I talked to her afterwards and she didn't she had no idea you know there's tornado. She bad for even saying that stuff so as like shoes right on the money here would. I wasn't looking in. The camera was like pitch black with like two flashlights. In the distance barely say again. It was dark and we're having seen everybody. Mr Holton said that we weren't allowed to go. Our principal said we weren't allowed to go upstairs until the cops came and told us that everything was okay and I asked him. I was like. What are we down here because of a hailstorm thunderstorm tornado? What's going on right now. Everything would be speculation..

I think a grocery store might be a little more central than the dog park. Nothing tally Missouri friendships. To what about what about irregular park you know with trees and that the Jersey. They're closed the regular parks. Are State Parks are interesting? What if they're not state park? So what if they're local I'd unnoticed nurseries? Were actually open. Yeah well because they're outside. Correct firearms are allowed to be open. V V. Parks are outside right. Yeah but they don't want people gathering and crowds. Cell fees getting to look upon one's own reflection like narcissus was condemned for doing interesting There was a man or woman ran. Gotcha has quality to it. Yes yes of course thinking of nurse Issa Malfoy David of DRAKO's mother and wife to lucious. Oh well that's very telling name she a bad character who she is not good. All you need to do is go on the Internet and find that they're styled sins of people personally. I like You know looking back through you know a Selfie from Twenty fifteen one from twenty twelve and you can really see how your aging that's interesting And I agree with you And the fact of the matter is. The selfie became so popular because one person can take it on their own right and they can you know venture out into the cold dark world all by their lonesome. Stab some great picks. You can never really do that before the camera. I mean I guess you could but we'd be a lot harder in onum thin where we going from here. Lsi must pose yet another question and the question is what is the worst part about cell phones. Any guesses well when you think you look really good and then you take a salty and you realize that you look like Pasta as you all know what you'll indeed Jeff Selfish fees yeah I guess so finding that one good snapshot at of you know a camera roll of fifty fifteen area to me the worst part of all right over there. While the Swish mark will be reversed and it will say e can of Nike Right. Draping herself in that fresh fubu gear. Well that sucks because your selfie now make it. "In high school yearbook and you're quite right the popularity of the prom had everything to do with the expansion of schooling and so as more kids enrolled in high school and then went onto complete high school proms became part of a much larger project of schooling in general and so schools took on more and more responsibilities and that was something that really started to take shape in really in the nineteen twenties in conjunction with the setting out the separating out of teenager hood as a specific era in life yeah it does so the whole notion of adolescents which today is firmly ensconced was something that really began to take shape in the late eighteen hundred eighteen fifty and and it wasn't really until the nineteen thirties nineteen twenties that again you began to see ideas about what it meant to be an an anatomy lesson and part of that has to do with the expansion of psychology as a discipline we sort of saw the rise of popular psychology and lots of how to guides for parents that began to emerge there and a lot of that had to do with exactly what you're saying which is that teenagers although that wasn't a turn that we used until the nineteen forties we're spending a lot more time away from family more time in school more time in age segregated setting and an and in fact actually more time in public life that was separated away from family just the other day i was driving between washington and my home in amherst massachusetts and stopped off of in the jersey palisades to stretch my legs look at the hudson and there was one of those prom wagons.
