WNBA players celebrate Warnock's projected win over Loeffler

"Right. Before the insurrection at the capital there was two senate runoff elections that the country had their is on in one of them. The reverend raphael warnock defeated the incumbent. Appointed senator kelly leffler in georgia. Kelly leffler for about ten years has been a partial owner of the atlanta dream of the wnba. She's now the majority owner but she's been around the team for now ten or eleven years and you may have heard her own players and much of the wnba is diametrically opposed to everything that leffler stands force. It was a very interesting situation to see everything develop earlier this week. And then how it works in the team dynamic for more on that. Let's welcome and renee. Montgomery actually a guard for the atlanta dream. She joins us this morning. She's actually rejoining us this morning a second time. She's been on with this. Good morning to you so i guess the first thing i gotta ask you is being a member of the team and understanding everything. That's going on on the floor in off the floor. What's the reaction of you and your teammates to misled losing this election. So i'm just gonna speak for myself and the reaction is. It's not even just her losing. Its rafael worn off. One and i wanna make sure that the messaging stays clear because there's some things that happened on january six is trying to take away from the fact that a black man is going to send it a jewish man from georgia's going to send it and we won the presidential race so i would say for me. It's a sweep. it's a three no sleep. So the the the feeling is happy. Rene speaking of january six. What are your thoughts on everything that occurred that day. Yeah you know. It's kinda like we all felt something was gonna happen. I was worried after november. Third ominously like when when the number started tied and we could see that joe biden. Really my win this thing you know. We all started to get a little nervous even here in georgia the aquarium shutdown coach color. They all boarded up their their buildings because we were all expecting some type of reaction and not a good one so then to see what happened on january six and see the lack of policing that was there it was it was disappointing and most call a spade a spade. It was terrorism. Domestic terrorism is the term that we should use for that renee montgomery innately. Sorry thanksgiving i was going to say what is say about the platform that the wnba has like you guys like even a month before. Colin kaepernick took a knee in two thousand sixteen. The wnba pre-game conference about police brutality. You guys were black. Lives matters t shirts before it was even a thing. Guys always been the leader at the forefront say about the platform that you guys have in the work that you guys have been doing you know. I hope people start to licking because a lot of brands. A lot of sponsors. They don't see the value in in women would say 'cause you know. I think i saw a tweet. From china robinson that said of sponsorship for women athletics how chow especially now knowing the impact that a women's league not just so a player but a whole week and have i don't understand why there's no interest but i do hope that just seeing how things transpired and how everyone to see what's going on. I hope that there is some value added to women now. Renee montgomery of the atlanta dream is joining us. This morning on keyshawn jay williams zubin were presented by progressive. Insurance and rene is with us on the goodyear hotline to robinson by the way. Espn women's college basketball analyst shaina. Yes shoutout. I want to ask you this because people may not want to go back to leffler because i think this is just so fascinating with how clear she's been in how clear you guys have been She used to be for people. That aren't aware that maybe don't follow the dream on everyday basis. She used to be a constant present. at games. a practice you'd be a team functions. He was always be sitting in the front row. She was very active owner. Obviously things have changed when she went to the senate got other responsibilities. I just wonder what your relationship is with her. The team's relationship with her you know even before the senator race i would just fear before the games. We've been to her house. Where team function. But i mean any of the players know you're not usually best friends with owner in general you know you typically would talk more to your g Even when it comes to contracts and stuff so we did see her there and we would wait and she was you know. I know that she released herself. From you. know day to day duties as she became a senator but she was president and the wnba. I know probably the letter was her trying to distance herself. Thing is how she's republican and the wnba. Is you know highly majority. Lgbt in black and brown community. So i can understand why she's trying to distance ourselves but it wasn't the case beforehand. Rene we're kind of personal discussions if any at all have you had. We'll often about social justice nine. I'm you know this was a typical owner-player relationship. So you know. I never talked to my minnesota on her about social justice. And i know that this time is is different but by the time that all of these things try Started to unfold. You know it was already. She was already too far. gone by. then how do you feel now that everything is transpired and she still co owner of the team for me and this is gonna be unpopular to say but for me. I'm sure she's not the only owner. That probably feels the way she feels. And so i hope that the wnba and hope that you know even her you know i. I've already posed the question. I don't know why he would want to own a wnba team. If you have to write a letter to the commissioner opposing. Everything that that team is standing for you know. Our team is the atlanta dream. And i don't know if people know that's from martin. Luther king's dream speech. That's how we got our name so if you oppose everything that we fundamentally stand for. I don't see how you can build a relationship there. I don't know why you'd want to be there

Things were going so well for the New York Mets. Great offseason. They get Francisco Lynn Door. They still could be in the mix with George Springer and you're thinking nothing could go wrong that is get us close to pitchers and catchers as the New York Mets organization. And their fan base. And then this story broke about the brand new general manager. The New York Mets as I'm calling tonight, the New York mess as an N E double s They're brand new journal Magic. John Porter admitted the sending an unsolicited photo Of his person. So a woman reported back in 2000 and 16. I wish I could say this is not true. According reports it is true. This photo came after he sent dozens of texts that the women did not respond to now. Porter was a member of the Chicago Cubs at the time. You missed the sitting at the photos, but the night that it was his own. Right? Now the woman is a foreign was a foreign Major league baseball correspondent who first turned over the message. When the Mets go 73 89 Chris, say, Freddie with 20 games away from going to the playoffs. That's who Chris Mitchell is, and I like that. I like the fact that he's an optimist. I'm a realist. Again, Yang bric track That's us as Mets fans I wish you could have seen the look on Chris Mitchell's face. When this story became public, since you can't You can hear his voice. What I mean, we expect this is disgusting. The disgusting story and I just can't understand how you know, with all the technology and out there. How you missed something like this. When you're hiring somebody, I just it Just boggles my mind that you missed something like this. Not this isn't something small and it was out there. You can find anything else. Golf: First impressions of Pebble Beach setup for U.S. Open 2019

"Course, the U S Open at Pebble Beach and to talk more about this. We go out to California and out to the progressive insurance, hotline, and bring on Geoff Shackelford senior writer for golf, we contributor, of course to the Gulf channel as well. And what's the feeling I'm jealous? You're at Pebble Beach heading into round one tomorrow. I was at the PGA championship Bethpage just a little bit different scenery than what you're experiencing there at pebble. Yeah. All everything's very jovial here. What's for a US open is not usually the case. Dan Jenkins, you know, tirelessly said the USO grumpy of vents in it, even when you come that will be to put the people usually in a foul mood. But I think the. Combination we had amazing weather, the guys all had great weather to give ready. And today was cool and foggy more normal, but the golf course and set up. Well, it's an unbelievable shape. It's just such a spectacular place. Everything is just sort of a line for a great week, and has been so to see everybody kind of mellow and happy. And it's great. And then, you know after Bethpage the what the have the only concern be fog delay really it changes. Everybody's feelings about an event you not worrying about thunderstorms or anything like that. And so it's a really special place to be in. And I can't wait for get started last year. Plenty of people critical of the US in the way things were set up. You mentioned kind of the course layout to some extent. We'll see how it plays it everything in the next couple of days. But what do you make of that? Will that be a story, you think on, on Saturday, that, that people will be discussing what the US is? How did you? We're, we're going to be in for a nice week where we won't maybe have as much complaining in people taking issue with it. Yeah. Yeah. I'll be shocked if we have any issues I really well, they've taken, I think every precaution imaginable, and then mother nature's helped them the winner here was was very wet, and then it was wet late for the courses just incredibly, I hate using the word lush, but it really good. Fairways just I've never seen them, so perfect. So you're gonna see great scoring too, by the way, the greens are since ational. I just did a piece for golf channel on the, the, the Pohan Yuan, and it's very tricky grass here. And they've had real problems. And I think they've got it kind of figured out as and so you're just gonna have the ability if you're in the fairway to attack the course and I just don't see the USDA wanting to push it. I think they're just fine if ten or twelve under wins, in, they have a nice quiet week Geoff Shackelford senior writer for golf, we contributor to the golf channel joining us here on espionage, in radio ahead of the US open. Pebble and Brooks Kapka, you'll have a chance to win his fifth major five out of the last nine just absurd that he's won four of the last eight and just how he's kind of interacted with the media this week, if you could and we know the kind of what gained some traction was comments about not being in a FOX promo, but I remember. At Bethpage for the PGA championship. The, the comment that struck me was he said, you know, I feel more confident I can get away basically saying things now that that I couldn't or didn't feel comfortable saying when I when I wasn't winning, and I think that was one of those comments, maybe even about the promo, right? That, that maybe he doesn't make a year ago. Yeah. And I'm not sure he's gotten away with comment on bad. You know, he send the person who did it should be fired probably well as an all problem, they, they, they took out of the archives is one of four and it was that was a little outta line. But I'm laughing, of course you're saying it's because these little things that he's coming up with for motivation are, are, are kind of funny, really that, that these are the things that get going, but it works. And you know, golf is a sport where you have so much time to think about everything that can go wrong. And if you go through the history of the game a lot of the great players. Have done this. They've found things to motivate them, or thanks to make them angry to help with nerves really more than anything and for him, it's it's something that's made him focus and it's it's an amazing run. He's on. I just I sorta sad. But I understand why the more of the sporting world hasn't taken note because he's done it on such a variety of courses. It's, it's really the equivalent of, of what some of somebody winning the grand slam tennis because of the variety of places he won. And contended that at a stretch, and so many good players right now when we've heard how deep the fields are. Well, he just kinda dismantled that notion in a way and, and set it in press conferences, which is unbelievable. The discovery out and say, there's basically thirty five people to win and really half of them. Don't even intimidate me. I mean, it's, it's when we look back on this in ten years. We're just going to be shocked. That somebody was that way. But it's just a he's just kind of a once in a lifetime type of person and athlete. And of course, you have tiger who misses the cut at the PGA championship went out to the memorial and got some work in instead of taking five weeks off. Like he did between the masters in the PGA. What, what do you sense? Kind of his mindset is in health first and foremost, I guess heading into this, this week, and you expect him to fair, a lot better than he did at Bethpage. Yeah. He's gonna be fine. I'm not sure I you know, I picked him to win a coming into this because of his love for this place and his great iron play. If you've read anything you've, you know, the narrative this week is Pebble Beach is tiny greens, and it's a great place for our for people who hit their approach shots close. So everybody looks at those numbers. And, and they all line up, as you would expect that every time, US Open's here, the person who hits the most greens is really right there or winning. And. So that suits his game, the only thing that bothers me I just I haven't liked the way he looks like he's moving physically. When he when we've shown him on the golf channel hitting balls looks fine. But I can't say that I look at them, and I feel like he's got the full MO Jo going so again, that's I mean, this is this is a quibble more than anything. But, you know, chiropractor standing there on the range, and you watch and you think, okay well, I don't know if he's one hundred percent. He was honest about how things went, Bethpage. So but he has an edge here, Alexis that's really special besides having one here, just local knowledge and his love of the place. And, and that gives him some kind of extra level of, of confidence, and Mojo. And, and that I, I just think if him something over Brooks if it if it comes down to those. Two and there's a very good chance of will Jesse Shackelford joining us here from Pebble Beach senior writer for golf, we contributor on the golf channel at Jeff shack on Twitter and get Phil Mickelson potential for him to get a career grand slam. Do you think this is his, I guess best chance to, to still do that? I think this year and next year wink fo where he, he almost want our area because after that it's Torrey Pines in his hometown, San Diego, which she now doesn't even play any lives there. So yeah, unfortunately, I wrote a call today saying he has one hundred percents has vow wedding based on his very rude comments. I thought about the US J a couple of weeks ago and said they, they, they get one hundred percent wrong, if it doesn't rain every year, and it was so it was it was it was, it was kind of unacceptable because of the way he bay at the last year. He definitely has been the victim of. Some course setup screw ups and I completely get his rage, but at forty nine with all the stars that potentially aligned for him near with his history. Here is, he's Granddad caddy dairy thirty forty nine on Sunday. He loves California. He loves Pebble Beach the golf guides want him to win this, but then to go and do that, and get that negative energy going. It's just hard not to think, oh, here we go again with fell kind of, you know, get in his own way. So I hope I'm dead wrong. I hope I have to apologize for it the call, but I just feel like when, you know, how golf works union. Every little thing to go right to win a US open double beach. And he's kind of put something out there that, that could be a problem for them. At least you know, if you if you believe in the spirit of the Gulf, got two, two guys that are really interesting to me heading into this weekend is Rory. In, in Jordan speeds and just played better as certainly as of late, a couple of top ten finishes and putting together some weekends for the first time in a while what, what kind of chances do you give speed on a course like this in also ROY who has struggled for much to this season. Well certainly ROY has than last night. Yeah. You know you had an unbelievable. He's been he's been very consistent. I mean one the players and, and those other weeks that he hasn't contended. He's played very nice golf. He his, his issue has been in the majors getting off to a bad start. And after the first round and he dressed today it came up. He knows he's been sensational. So tomorrow is a huge day for Rory now mentally because he's aware of it isn't how these things get going. It could just be total coincidence. That he didn't play well the first round. So you've got to watch him tomorrow. I love his chances because of the way the golf courses he does and the forecast, there's not a lot of rain in the forecast. He does not like win. He's very open about that as well of courses. You know, back to what I said about being less. Roy also, not a fan of super firm and fast. So he likes it here. He likes the history, he knows what. What it would mean to him to win here. And he's coming in off that unbelievable win. So I, I love his chances, but his record in the US open of late has been awful. So, yes, he has some things like Phil where he's got some some, some energy issues that comes the US he kinda lets them get in his head.

The Raptors take a Finals lead

"So they were able to get the victory around rafters to seize lead in the NBA finals. Somebody wants to saying that goes, they never been down two games to win the NBA finals before this happened somebody that we're going back to Draymond green talking about right after the game, and he was very relaxed and at the podium being down to one in the history NBA finals series tied at one apiece. The loser of game three. Rarely goes on to win the Larry O eighty two percent of the time the winner of game three with the series tied at one apiece goes on to win the trophy. Now, one of the that, that eighteen percent has actually been the Golden State, Warriors calmed, dream on was typical just relax. This is nothing. We we've seen this movie. We start in this movie you go back to two thousand fifteen part of the eighteen percent. Golden State down to one to Cleveland. And they came back in, when they won the Larry O on the series four two. So watching, how relaxed Steph curry is after the game you when you lose comb court at you've stolen homecourt Andrey months talking about let man to get some guys healthy. And when game four up to Toronto win games come on back here. Celebrating grain things are head one time ahead. Yes. They have seen every scenario that you can imagine in the five straight finals. They've been to literally. Yes. And they have found ways more often than not to overcome the winning dot com Twitter, defeat my handle the Coleman ESPN ES Hannah, if it's ESPN, it's being relaxed, Freddie and Fitz. Simpson ESPN radio, you can definitely attach that to collide learner, and also Danny green, they attempted to range in their back pocket when he played for the San Antonio Spurs trying to do has not been done before a champion of NBA team north of the border in the country of Canada. They were relaxed at the winning game three and Coalisland even went on to talk about how his phrase has been trending on Twitter, all day was just the right message tonight for you guys on the white board, and who wrote it. And how well did cow reform that advice? I think we all kind of that advice. But it is easier to look at that now say it worked great for us special ingratiating night. It's been awhile since the playoff series. We haven't really had a good team shooting night on new eventually some point we would do for one. So luckily got one tonight. Well, we still have to do a better job defensively landed of Florida limit. Those guys better. So we don't have to rely on offense or shooting to win games for us. But luckily did tonight and hopefully next game can continue to stay warm and let it rip. And hopefully even better defense daily Shaquille. O'neal apparently offered some shooting advice to you. He's a pure shoot knew that. Can can you fill us in on on what he suggested? And what head performance? Yes. Books before the game briefly, you know, he's always on TNT set out there before the game is to shooting advice because he was good at it. And but, you know, the fundamentals, the small things to be confident and just hold the author obviously after a good shooting night. It's easy to, to see that. His vice has worked, but O'neil is he always yells them? You leave it as his way of saying, leave you hand up there. And be confident you're shot, but. He's always been that guy to me everywhere or year. We get on the playoffs or on the stage where, you know, he comes over and tells me stay confident, and he'll give me his shooting advice going into the game, especially when you found throughout the warriors are going to be without clay. How important was it in retrospect to make sure you got this one on the road? Very important. But I really didn't find out to the tape off starting. They told us that he was playing tonight. The mindset. Going on a Florida. He's playing. You know, a lot of pressure to, you know, main guys, not plane, still come on and get a win. You know, step play great tonight. But you know we got it to wins away. Now. Momentum. This momentum curious to Koiwa such balanced scoring from your starting unit. Help your game both offense ably defensively and the secondary question that I had for on social media aware that your catchphrase the board, man gets paid going, very viral right now, we just want to confirm that actually something that you said used to say that back when I was in high school in college. You know, just when to get to this to this league. Just is about, you know, working hard basically our opponent. You know, rebounds, hope you win games big rebounds, office rebounds. Limited team that one shot. And, you know, used to be our motto just, you know, some of this stuff in college that was trying to get to this point. I who questions the balanced scoring story unit help open up your game offense ably. You know, once I'm driving in paint, kicking guys, making the defense doesn't want to collapse as easy known, you know, we just gotta keep playing them in a flow. Really? We just we don't need to worry about me scorn, a basketball, we all score with the office that we have just got to keep moving in at times the ball, the offense is real stagnated. You know we just stay in one spot guard. If you're to finish so about just moving a ball plano. Plano. You know, the team sport interest in everyone always low key to why, and Danny green. Although had a little humor, about his new catchphrase taking hold on social media talking to media Toronto. Raptors one game three tonight. One twenty three to one zero nine. Ready Coleman on Freddie and Fitz on ESPN radio and ESPN app. Presented by progressive insurance. The one thing I love about this raptors team. They expected to be in this position. They expected that they were gonna be to one lead in this series yet. It talks about you gotta plan for Kate Klay Thompson, but we don't want to have to have the conversation. How did we lose that game? And he's not there and the ranch. Not. There. A one man gang led by Steph curry was able to beat us in game three they clearly understood that have been completely damaged in my mind had they lost this game tonight with those dudes not being out there because of anything the Golden State wars would have been more emboldened and I believe the five games. They came through tonight. And it shows the power, the warriors that many people believe, you know what? Got a chance to win this game. We wouldn't say that about plenty of other teams not having one dude out. But another superstar out with Kevin Klay Thompson. Looney. And yep. They they might get a chance to win this game against a fully capable raptors basketball. A ten point game with three twenty-seven ago when Steph Curry's diving around on the floor. I mean, it was one thirteen one oh three and I'm sitting there going wait a minute. When it wasn't it just fifteen about a minute and a half ago, I think they were going to win, but I was still amazed that it was a ten point game when you had Steph and Draymond essentially about it. And amygdala was what had eleven points tonight. It was a very quiet eleven may Livingston was not existence. Dan, DeMarcus cousins didn't give you. It was more game. One boogie cousins than game too. I mean not more was game one. I mean, we'll see one of seven to nine a belief, so he he looked like an old man now. Yeah. It was a complete flip flop from what we saw in game two. He went back to game one. And as far as the raptors go, you know they, they, they did they were supposed to do and what they didn't do in game two. They were gifted one in game. Tune gave it away five point at the half. Fifteen because golden kind of team that no leader safe with them. Well, yeah. The, the third quarter warrior show up. But tonight they didn't have clay, and I'm still, you know, typically cat to the wounded warriors where it's ten point game with three and a half to go and game three. When all you have is Steph, really I mean at forty seven. The next the war you're closest to him, it's scoring with thirty points. Fewer Draymond green was seventeen so six raptors in double digits. It was a complete team win by the raptors now folks, get ready. Buckle your seatbelt for game four because I believe Klay Thompson will be back. I agree. And I believe K D will make his first appearance. I think so I don't know if you'll start but he's going to have a say in

There are 17 Networks covering the NFL: When is enough enough?

"The NFL draft Howard, even covering the NFL for many years. We're talking about the NFL coverage in in how they're seventeen networks now covering the NFL is is possible to have too much coverage. I don't know. Too much. I really don't because the public is who determines it? Sure. And the public and the public is just has an insatiable appetite for this stuff. And you know, a lot of the interviews that I've been doing this week and last and talking about how the draft has come. I was on the first broadcast for ESPN in nineteen eighty and then in what is now it's another world, and, but you know, with the draft of the coverage on the internet and the mock drafts and all that I say the number of there are it's just crazy. It's over the top. But yet the people love them people didn't want them and read them and talk about them. Then no one would do. And so that's what drives it all. And so as long as the public watches, then that's going to be the key. We'll be interesting this year with a third network doing doing something totally different ABC's and the other two to see what kind of traction they get with the competition. But. Like, I said, it just seems that whatever it is football related with the NFL people. Just can't get enough of it. We get to the drafts of interesting news today regarding Josh Gordon and now New England Patriots. How does the Josh Gordon movie end? Yeah. I don't think anybody knows the answer to that one. Probably the person who knows the answers Josh court. And so that's the thing about it. And so the patriots are. You know, what's this all about when he was suspended during last season? Everyone's Josh, Gordon. But you know, who don't censor? The patriots are figuring. Hey, we retain the right? If it gets his act together, then we've got him eat annot now signing that tender that money counts against the cat. Now. Of course, when you have a cabinet as high as it is another two million dollars, isn't that big a deal, and obviously you get paid a dime unless he's on the roster. And so I would think though that the patriots wouldn't have done this in less. They were getting some good reports about where Josh Gordon is with his life since. The suspension came down. Whatever last November. I guess. Early December that here it is. It's been several months, and they must have some I would think inclination or insight that says that he might be available at some point this season. But we'll wait and see. But like I said an answer to your question. I don't think anybody knows that answer. Howard. Please tell me that you don't believe that the Oakland riders are going to take a quarterback at four. I I don't think they should. But you know, like. You can never say never. I mean, that's that's the thing about the draft. And I often said this is that we all whether we talk about the draft to write about it. Whatever it is. We should eliminate the word unexpected or surprise from vocabulary. Because there's there's no such thing as a surprise when it comes to the NFL draft. And that's just the reality guys couple years ago. If I was on the allows on your show two nights before the draft. And I said I'm going to predict that the Kansas City. Chiefs are going to trade up to number ten and Patrick Mahomes. And you probably would have sent someone to my house to have to have my brain tested wondering if I if I totally lost my mind, and yet that would happen. And so that's why you just never know. And of course, the the raiders situations different than the chiefs. They had a quarterback that was getting up there in years. The raiders have still pretty young guy who you should be able to build something really good around. But that doesn't mean that Jon Gruden Mike may I don't have some crazy scenario cockpit where they just might might take one and they signed several others in the off season surprise in another guy. I would be crazy to do that in the first round. Maybe at the end of the first round there's someone sitting there that they can beat developed. But if they take someone early I think that that would be a little crazy. But that doesn't mean that I dismissed it as being a possibility of happening Howard. Is there a team in the top ten that you can see frightening out of their current spot and accumulating additional picks? I think there several teams that would like to trade out the question is. And then the jets have been a team in a lot of people talked about because you know, this is this is a draft. It's pretty strong and defensive players. There's gonna be a bunch of defensive lineman that going to top five ten and so teams trading down know that they're still going to get a really good player if they trade down a few spots, the key is who wants to trade up. And what are they looking for? I would think that the team I like to in some respects. I liked the draft to come to be especially when there's that many good players, especially if you need a defensive lineman now up to get one of those quarterbacks as we're talking about the trade up two years ago with Mahomes, we had to bear trade up at spot San Francisco to get Mitchell Trubisky we have buffalo trading Josh Allen. So. If one of these teams wants a quarterback and has their mind set on a certain one, then we could see a trade like that in the top ten and again, no one really knows what these teams are thinking. But if they're like I said if there's a team that has identified one of these quarterbacks than that. That's that's the position that certainly were trading up for if you wanna get you wanna get a guy sticking with the quarterback team doesn't seem to be really rated as a high quarterback challenged draft. But which team Indo which quarterback is going to screw everybody fix up by grabbing somebody early in. Yeah. That's that's a really good question. And obviously what the cardinals do will set the stage for what happens after that. And they do take Tyler Mary than I think we're going to see three other quarterbacks. Maybe a fourth goal in the first round the question is where will it be? Will it be Denver? Will it be? My aunt. Will it be Washington? I mean, those are all pretty good possibilities for a team taking a quarterback. I think it's still pretty good draft for quarterbacks. And so, you know, yes, there's not a guy that you just automatically say is going to be in a Pro Bowl in a couple of years. But I think I several of these guys with the right situation. The right coaching the coaching staff and the right team around him. I think they have the chance to be very good players talking to Howard Walser NFL draft two nights from now. Progressive insurance guest line here Spey nation radio Howard. It's never been Bill. Bell checks MO to trade up. But with the retirement of rob gronkowski that the tight end out of Iowa Hawkins sent a lot of people are talking about would be a great replacement. He may go. Hi, people saying even top ten pick possibly could you see Bella check making a move with with Matt Patricia in Detroit to try to move up to Hopkinson. I think we could see him try to move up getting metal from thirty two to eight is probably wait too far to go. Okay. The patriots have a lot of ammunition a bunch of extra of other picks the second third round. But to give up that many to give up what you have to give up that far. I think would be very very difficult. But it can who knows who knows when Hawkins middle go. I I'm you know yet. You're right. He could go that early or he, you know, obviously, he might not. And I think they've obviously there's certainly looking at the tight end very closely. And there's you know, they they might feel. We can stay where you are. And then, but if someone is still sitting there when you get into the twenty well that would be the place to make a move because it's not going to be as costly. As like, I said, I can't even imagine what it would take to move up twenty four spots. Because if you're the lions and all you need, then to trade down that is is pretty crazy. You make that move and then moved back up because of the hall you've gotten from the patriots. But still move out of the top ten and get a player that can really come in and help your football team. I would not be the greatest move for the

Houston Cougars finalizing deal with Dana Holgorsen, West Virginia Mountaineers

"Very much in the college football playoff discussion, neck and neck with Oklahoma for a lot of the season. To now, go to a group of five team that we saw a couple of years ago even on Houston's best day when things are breaking right for them in that Tom Herman era was still a fringe contender. Best for college football's ultimate prize. They don't want to put a group of five team in the college football playoff. But that's the reality. I think they beat Oklahoma that year didn't they? I mean, and they still didn't get inaugarated lost some games down the stretch. But they put the others good season as you could probably have with the schedule. They had which was very difficult. They won games against high quality teams just perplexing to me. It kind of reminds me a couple of about five four or five years ago when Tommy Super Bowl left, Texas Tech to go to Cincinnati and thinking you left the big twelve. A group of five school. And that's the same thing. You're seeing right here. Overseers the second best hair to Mike Gundy in all of college football. He's leaving us at the kind of balding mullet. Sliding down there. It looks great. When it's wet. I just I'm curious to see why this happened what he thinks he'll be able to achieve at Houston that he could not achieve and West Virginia. Just doesn't make any sense. That's that's the biggest question that I can't really answer from coaching standpoint. You're taking yourself out of the situation where you have a real shot in the national championship. You're putting yourself in a group of five area where you have the best season ever. You might be able to strike once in a while my baby get lucky and get into the playoffs. But realistically, you're going from a spot where you have year in and year out opportunities to find your way into the playoff. You're going from that to Houston and also a well known college football coach if you wanted to do just leave West Virginia. Maybe there weren't a lot of great openings this year, which you felt like they would have been another elite power five opening the he would have been qualified to take in some fan base would have said, hey. With this guy's done of West Virginia. We'll take him over here. If you don't want him anymore, but instead of going to Houston, which you're not to disparage that job, but I just don't feel like it's the best job the data's holders qualified for. So there's some familiarity state the obvious he was an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach their two thousand eight to two thousand nine so he's not altogether unfamiliar with the area. We also know there's a number of other things that also also factor into this. I mean living in Houston as opposed to living where he has been in West Virginia. You don't know what his preference becomes in a lot of that wild and wonderful. It is true. I will say one of the interesting things me to be if we find out is what is by out is Houston. That'll tell us how long time he thinks. He's there that get you caught up on some of what is trending Golic and wingo on ESPN radio and ESPN two. My Golic junior. Bobby carpenter? I'm Jason Fitz. "Radio and the ESPN app. We're presented to you by progressive insurance. And all the guests that are joining us on the show today are joining us via the shell Pennzoil performance line. Now today the Browns defeated the Bengals twenty six to eighteen in advance their record to seven seven and one. Now, though, they won't be making the playoffs this year. They definitely have made a statement this season with Baker Mayfield lean away. So it's I think it's safe to say that the Browns have been really fun to watch. But Bobby what are you most excited about for them going into the two thousand nineteen season? Well, the fact that they have a franchise quarterback number one. The fact that they have an elite rusher on the edge to the fact that they have a lockdown corner that they drafted who made a Pro Bowl as a rookie. The fact that they have a tight end it looks like he's a big play guy. And he's developing his body. So we'll be more of a physical receiver and we're fine. I mean, the fact that they have Chubb who's looking really good run. In the football. There's a lot of things to be excited about what those Brown this Brown. The not to mention all those guys talked about your the first or second year players. They've got a full complement of draft picks next year they have a ton of cap space. And they seem to be a team that really doesn't necessarily have a lot of needs to be able to go out there and just take best player available day. K Bill played this guy, and let them play in the past is just take best player available because we have so many holes. There's no one that we need to fill outside of outside of the quarterback position. And now they seem to basically have a lot of the critical positions. All I stop the reality of stinking for a long time. And let's just call it. What is the Browns of stunk, and they stunk over the past two years Restorick way is that it allows you to set yourself up for the future in a way that is really hard to do. Otherwise in the NFL. You get a ton of draft capital. You get a ton of cap space because. You eat up your cap space. We have good players. Good player. So that's the Browns have had some good players dot. I doubt hall of Famer Andrew Hawkins are our cohered ESPN. They had good players. But they have not had a ton of good players. What they've done recently is they have hit in the draft. They have hit in the draft in a major way. And nobody is more important than Baker Mayfield. Baker Mayfield is awesome. And he is a legitimate. Profiles is a legitimate franchise quarterback going forward. They've also got some other really good players though. Myles Garrett has been awesome for them defensively Benza war. It's been very good. This season. And if they found something in some other young players guys that were drafted over the past year or two, but like Joba Tonio was established himself as a team, captain. He's a good player for that. Right. There have been some guys that have come through during those difficult years that are fixtures of this franchise going forward. In the obvious comparisons, the Philadelphia seventy Sixers right like they were able to build this thing back up by collecting a lot of good talent. When they were bad us. The process is in the process, and here we are with the. The the Browns looking like, maybe if you were to stack up like the most exciting young teams in the AFC. I think I'd probably have them right there. Either just ahead or just behind the colts. Absolutely Rachel, I think you look at it the play the Baltimore Ravens next week at the beginning of the season. If you were told the ravens say, you have a chance to lockup Laka playoff appearance. Possibly win the division based on what Pittsburgh does. Oh. By the way, the team you get to play in the final week of the season is the Browns at your place. I think they have taken that every day of the week and twice on week seventeen Sunday. However that thing is changed dramatically in Baker Mayfield. And his last eight games. This is six best quarterback rating in the NFL. I mean, it's one of six that's me never had quarterback play like that at the Browns and even outside of the numbers. You just watch the games. This guy is good good. Good weapons around him. Football frenzy on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Filled gates, Bobby carpenter and Rachel Lindsay. We're discussing the Cleveland Browns. And the statement they have made the season and what we think they'll do in two thousand nineteen. So I mean you named a number of positive things about the Cleveland Browns. And and I definitely agree that they've been exciting to watch. But I have to also take a look at Baker Mayfield. Baker Mayfield is exciting. He's fine. He's dynamic. He has the six best quarterback rating like you just stained, Bobby. But at the same time he is confident. But is he crossing the line as to being cocky, yes. And he's he's tipped that line. And it is fun to watch. But at some point it might be a little bit too much in for example, today, he got a little bit of a little bit overboard when he had the staredown with his former coach hue Jackson today. And he was asked about that from reporters after the game. This is what he had to.

"For the eagles. This is a definite step back that much. I can be sure of in Doug Peterson understands there's going to have to be some soul-searching starting with myself all of us. You know, this look at ourselves in the mirror, and are we are we doing enough? Are we given enough each week? It's a strength. I mean, you have to have to strain yourself to make plays. That's just the way this game is and. We didn't do enough of that today. And that's that's the disappointing thing. You know and just just gave up too many too many plays defensively. And then offense didn't execute. Enough. And so that's that's disappointing disappointing thing, but each person each coach each player in that locker room we have to. You said that things today are relatively calm but are there concerns that this military. "I don’t think the offense had a very good rhythm today.”

"Fridays get you ready for your weekend with the little, not necessarily. That's right. Some stories from inside and outside the sports world that we liked to swipe, right. If we agree with swipe left, if we disagree with and swipe up, if we want a super like it, which is not a thing I knew existed, but I haven't been on tender except for when I'm helping out my friends. 'cause I've been off the market for quite some time which reminds me hitting the bar after this and I am one hundred percent setting up your ten? Yeah, it's going to happen buddy on be swipe it all up on this b word that I can't say. This is the SPN radio presented by progressive insurance. Let's get into it and that's right. Let's get into it. Lil Wayne is sending care packages to forty Niners coach Cal Shanahan because it seems that Shanahan named his son Carter after the New Orleans rapper and Lil Wayne heard about this has started sending a variety of things. Autographed poster, copy of the album sign. And stuff for the eight year old son and nicely gave the one with the cuss words to the dad gave the edited one to the sun. So Wayne thinking ahead on the question, I guess Nick is and Shanahan says, you know, he's listening to his music a lot when he was doing his first coaching gig for the bucks and that his wife would kill him. If he said the name was one hundred percent about the rapper. But the Carter one started it and he was always into that and what his wife said. She liked the name Carter. It was pretty easy for him because he was obsessed with them at the time. So the question for you is Nick, would you name your kid after a rapper? Oh, like it. I'm absolutely going to. Drake, chance free Dell. Well, there you go. That's a great name who. I wouldn't necessarily say because of those particular wrappers. I mean, I love chance strike as all you know, as we know in his feelings sometimes, but Drake, chance free dial is a great name. Now we just have to get onto now we gotta get tender and find someone to make baby. I'm gonna have to go ahead and. Here's why I like rap music. I have nothing against the idea of naming your kid after a rupture, but that's not going to be my first choice. If I'm looking for inspiration for my child to be sent onto the world bearing someone's name, I'm probably going to go with a great author, perhaps a musician. I admire maybe someone that has historical so that they can't milkshake duck me and turn into a terrible person. I don't wanna go with like OJ OJ Spain, Wade's the Bogue Wayne among. Yeah, so I have to swipe left on that by the way I, I saw little Wayne and Drake perform together at Michael Jordan's kids, high school graduation party at the park west that I kind of snuck into now the legally, but it wasn't invited. Yeah, they performed at Michael Jordan's kid's graduation party out right before they really blew up. They were. They were. They were big, but not quite that big. All right. Next question on the old, not necessarily sports, tender. LeBron has said that he now regrets naming his kid. Brawny said that having his kid bear his name just means a lot of pressure for him. We've seen a lot of this lately. Serena Williams saying, I hope my daughter doesn't play tennis because I'm just real good at it. Which as meantime said was, I see no lie there. Whereas the li- and we saw, of course Jordan talking about in his hall of fame speech. He feels bad for his kids. It's a lot to live up to the question is, do you think there's more pressure on brawny because he shares his name, or would you be pressured regardless distribution the Bronx kid?.
