"Maybe I could get a winner or two on the NFL action this weekend here, he gives it inside on that, and everything going around the National Football League is the executive editor of Pro Football Weekly reported for Westwood. One and our insider on our sister station at their in Chicago. 6 70 the score. My buddy Mr. Ha! Barking hub has the new year treat you so far. So far so good. Haven't been able to wrangle a shot yet, So I'm working on that. You know, we're hanging in there. That's we like to hear. We got both on the field and off the field stuff to talk about. Let's start On the field. The two championship games this weekend You got the two young guns and the two established older hands at the quarterback positions for these two teams with no homes and Alan, the young guys in the A. F. C Championship, and Rogers and Brady going at it in the NFC championship, which it is two matchups to you is more compelling. I gotta be honest with you, Jody. It's hard for me to pick. I think they're both extremely compelling. You know what we wait yearned for all year long is to get the championship Sunday with the four best teams in the NFL and I don't think there's any question that we have that right now, and what's interesting to be is that I look at the Packers and the Chiefs and you know the favorite. They've clearly been the best teams in the league this year. But the two underdogs in Buffalo in Tampa had been playing the best football over the last 6789 weeks. And so, um I could make arguments either way on both of these games. And the only thing that would really shocked me is if they both didn't come down in the fourth quarter, right? You know, I think short of one of these four teams making a few early mistakes during the ball over a few times and getting behind by a few scores. I think we're going to see some really exciting football tomorrow, and that's kind of what happened to the Saints last week who were taken out by the Bucks turnover battle was the decider in that game for me. Breeze with the three picks was that Tampa's defense rising to the occasion or do breeze in the Saints throwing a clunker? There goes a little bit of both. You gotta go back a week earlier to the wild card game And and remember that the Chicago Bears one of the two teams, and a lot of people felt didn't belong in the playoffs. Trail them 73 with five minutes left in the third quarter. You know the Saints were not playing good football. So I talk about, you know, finding the hot team with some momentum on DA. Obviously, the turnovers killed him, but actually most of the turnovers Came in the second half. That would be inability to take advantage of those huge special teams plays earlier. You know when you settle for field goals in the red zone in the playoffs. Against an offense with dynamic is the Bucks. You're going to get in trouble, so I think that was a big part of it. But I don't want take anything away from the box. I I looked at the front seven on that defense. And right now it has many playmakers is any defense in the league. Um, ondas. Good is the Packers offenses? He doesn't change the fact that the Bucks matchup, Charlie Well, you know, and that's part of what should make this again so compelling. Then speaking that front salmon. These two teams, the Bucks and the Packers played earlier this year back in week six, which is a while ago, but, uh, that game was telltale in the Packers came out moved the ball effectively early got up 10. Nothing never scored another point. Just completely throttled from there on out to a 36 to 10 beat down. I got to give credit for Tampa's defense in that game, too, because from Aaron Rodgers is the M V P of the entire league. But he had one really bad game this year, and it came against his bucks defense. Yeah, There's no question about it, Jody, you know, and I don't disagree with you. I mean, Roger's through five picks all year and through two of them in that game. You got fat 20 times all year and got sacked five times in that game. So obviously it was a Quaker. Everybody's gonna have one. You can throw it out the other thing about it. Is that it was week six. And I don't think we should ever forget if we're trying to do intelligent analysis about obviously the circumstances under which everybody has worked this year. Uh, we haven't called. It is wreaked and that there was no off season There was no exhibition season training camps were a shadow of what we expected them to be. And so I think what we've discovered is that some of these teams and what they were doing the 1st 567 weeks. Is not indicative of the change that they became. You know, once they had used those 1st 567 weeks as an off season and training camp to really reach their full potential, So, um, you don't ignore it. You know it speaks to the match up. It speaks to a lot of problems. The Packers are gonna have with them again tomorrow, but at the same time it was in Tampa, and it was earlier in the year. And I think the Packers are much better and different football team now than they were that market ship Pro football weekly, Our guest here on CBS Sports Radio, one of the things that I absolutely believe the package or improved at, and this was very evident in their win last week. Is there running the ball more effectively. Now at this stage of the season, they didn't run it at all against Hampton at first matchup, but that's what made last week as easier that was around it as easy. It's theme for Aaron Rodgers is because the opposition had to play him straight up, because if they didn't they were running the ball right down their throat. Can the Packers run it against this Tampa defense tomorrow? Like the Packers can run it on anybody. Yeah, it's.

"Slot and drop other guys ed so so it's creativity schematically to create enough pass rush to then tie into the coverage that gets you get good enough coverage you scheme together some pass rush and you'll be able to have an effective defense in the thing to remember is teams overpay for edge rushers trey flowers at five years ninety ninety five million. What are the patriots do they signed michael bennett off the scrap heap and the draft chased one of seventy seven overall. They're putting together pretty decent. Pass rush even tonight. "The utmost importance in the red zone don't because the field condenses in a sense and so rubbed designs pick place which concepts from an offense that forces defensive backs to thank thank into reacted to exchange players. Perhaps in the blink of an eye. It's all that more critical because it's one thing if it happens you know on your own thirty five yard line and you can probably would recover if you get picked off and you're gonna meet the scrape exchange or the bad. You'll call effectively. It's another it's down near the goal on that plane touchdown. If if you just have stepped late and so those are critical components to red zone and goal line defense communication and that's the patriots were nine times out of ten perfect. Dat you know there were times you know a touchdown from <hes> mitchell trubisky to recall when when they went sort of why i suit with cohen to the same size trae burden you know they had a sort of banjul. Call holidays get done in time <hes> but those mistakes are few and far between ed so that's going to be a focus. I'm sure brand floors down in the red zone because we know holded in today's n._f._l. Teams are going to gain yardage. You know the rules are headed towards the offensive side of the ball. You know whether it's the pass interference rules defensive contact rules whatever cheese you get down into the red zone. You've gotta turn seven into threes defense. That's gonna win a losing games. They communication is a huge part. What about data the regio absolutely great great point mark again. Stop what you're doing and follow this man. Mark scofield m._a. R. k. s. c. h. O. f. i e l d. "Follow me on Twitter at Michael kissed and fell on this show. Every week will be taken an in depth look at an EMMY quarterbacks where they win how they lose what to expect in upcoming games. It would not be the SCO show without my co host. Don't call him a QB expert because his face will contorts uncomfortably. But he knows his stuff from pro football weekly the score big blue view locked on patriots inside the pylon. He's my buddy. He's my pal. He's my own personal QB one. He's marsk go field. Mark. I am excited to be doing this new project with you. How you doing brother? I'm doing well my front I am excited as while ago. I'm hoping that this show has better runs than say the Michael Malley show, which the other generation might know was a short lived sitcom that ran for one episode. It was cancelled after seven days and to put it in terms of. You'll cruciate. I hope this has a better rain than say emperor of Italian. Ooh, who's rain at the end of the year of four emperors lasted just eight months ago. Mike, what has me a little concern is an emperor of a Tellus was known as lazy and self indulgent purse indulgent personality, he was a man who's fond of Eden and drank Indus. He was a glutton. He was rather obese would eat four banquets day, and as someone who spent time with me doubt in mobile, you know, I am also fond of eating drinking. So this this could be an emperor retaliates type rain, but we hope not here at this show app. Retaliate says bust like if you if you look him up on Google his bust is just he's like, the only one of the emperor's that just like they make it obvious that he's overweight. It's awesome. Got look like they don't hot it at all. This is what he was note for because he didn't do anything the guy sat ate and drank for eight months, and they were like all right. That's enough. Sounds amazing. That would be my so dowdy heck of rain follow Mark on Twitter. It's real base. Iq at Mark's go field and follow his work, and all these places that he writes for he does fantastic jobs. I of spinning plates and bringing detailed analysis on all teams and quarterbacks. And that's why we're doing this. I trust marks quarterback evaluations. Like, no other. And I look forward to breaking down these opposing quarterbacks talking about some Roman emperors, that's pretty dope. And here's why I lean on somebody like Mark to give me a better perspective because I truly believe that quarterback play is the most complicated hardest to learn least understood aspects of professional football and get it is the most talked about most popular most divisive subject matter in all of professional sports. And Mark I asked you the other day, but I'll ask you again here with what you know about the position, and how long you've been detailing stuff and even playing the position in college. How do you log on Twitter every day and see all of these misleading discussions surrounding the position and just not want to face plant yourself. Self into a toilet. Well, you're Sumer that I don't want to face plant myself into a toilet or vomit, Tori, number pulled fatales and just go eat for banquets Dade logoff from this website..

"Faran up moving to the other high leverage game in the nfc wildcard raise the cardinals coming off a resounding victory over those new york giants going into seattle to face a sea ups team that must and then hope the falcons lose to get that number six seed and we open seattle minus seven and a half it's up to minusnine and a half already everything i just said about uh chargers money line also applies to seattle money wine it's the mustwin again arizona doesn't have anything to play for everybody gonna be including seattle in those money 21 parlous reports surfacing i believe from michael lombardi via pro football weekly or something that aaron was going to retire aaron says repeated the report suggests adding some more intrigued to this game along with early thomas telling seattle telling the cowboys to come get him potentially potentially if he is a free agent after next season us a lot of off the field things uh swirling around this game you don't seattle really saved us a star sunday that we want a ton of money on that game and that'd be one of the uglier football games i've ever wash i think i read seattle had more penalty yards than offense of yards and they won that game he asked do you believe that in win 60s yeah how are you there that says a lot about the cowboys a offensive performance on sunday your referencing my seattle pick that i had last week though the that's the one right although good picked up the number came down a little bit it was it was it really just a week kamal.
