"This is WTO news. Two 52. Democratic lawmakers are once again pushing for federal workers to get a pay raise after a year of high inflation. Virginia congressman Jerry Connolly and Hawaiian senator Brian schatz have reintroduced the fair act in the House and Senate. The bill would give most civilian workers an 8.7% average pay raise next year. Congressman Connolly reintroduced the fair act in some form every year for the past 9 years. Congress never passed it, but has occasionally legislated federal pay raises. A group of teens out of Prince William county faces some pretty serious charges connected to a shooting and several stolen vehicles. The three teens, two of them, 14 year old boys have been arrested for a shooting that happened January 15th in triangle. The teens are accused of firing multiple shots at a residence before getting away in a stolen vehicle. Prince William county police have since arrested all three and are now connecting them to 20 stolen or attempted stolen vehicles in the area. All of the thefts happen between January 12th and the 16th, the teens are expected to face grand larceny charges. Melissa Howell, WTO P news. If you own a Ford SUV listen up, the car company is recalling nearly 383,000 SUVs because of a faulty touchscreen that may not display a camera image when backing up. "Teacher who died after police tased him multiple times in Los Angeles is now filing a $50 million lawsuit against the city and its police department. Gabbie hansel, who shares a son with Kenan Anderson says the 5 year old is suffering the loss of his father's love, companionship, protection, financial and moral support. Having a hearing and cry out for help the way he did and to watch him be heard, but there are people who are supposed to protect him. It's something I will never get under. Poor documents say Anderson died of cardiac arrest in the hospital after LA police officers found him lying on the ground near an intersection where they're just in a car accident. In body camera video released by the LAPD, they claim he was resisting arrest and hit Anderson with a stun gun. Officials in prince in Prince William county are taking action after a rise in crime in one part of woodbridge. Cameras lights and additional patrols are all part of upgrades, county leaders are planning after what they are calling a rise in criminal activity in the areas surrounding Richmond highway and Prince William Parkway. Police there say the area has had one homicide so far this year after two last year. In addition to a recent stabbing. A Prince William county police spokesman calls the violent crime trend troubling and says officials are working with the community to deter further crime. The county school system owns land behind a nearby 7 11 and has agreed to install lights and trim trees for better visibility from the road. No trespassing signs have also been placed behind the 7 11. Scott elman WTO news. It's one 24 5 Memphis police department officers have been fired, all 5 have been charged with or accused rather of use of use of excessive force after a man died while he was being incarcerated. The officer stopped Tyree Nichols for reckless driving on January 7th, he ran, but they caught and arrested him. Nichols complained of shortness of breath and was hospitalized. He died three days later. Relatives say he suffered cardiac arrest and kidney failure from the officers beating him. D.C. police say they had a warrant to arrest the man now charged officially with the killing this incident took place on Wednesday morning. Kenyatta oglesby is facing multiple charges including murder and assault after police say he opened fire in his 17 year old girlfriend's house, killing her three year old sister and wounding her, her sisters, 16 and 14 years old, and of a 17 year old boy. There were some kind of an argument between the suspect and the 17 year old, the night before, that argument continued into the next day and then he just lost it. It seems oglesby is no stranger to police court records show that the 20 year old has two gun related charges in his past, and the fugitive task force was looking for him. Court records show oglesby pleaded guilty to having an unregistered pistol during a robbery in Columbia heights back in 2021. But when a judge released him on orders to return for sentencing, court records show, he never came back and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Investigators say it may be why he was staying at his 17 year old girlfriend's home in dumfries with her family. U.S. Marshals say police arrested oglesby minutes after the shooting. Four years ago, the state of Maryland agreed to throw out its originally proposed water quality rules for the kind of wingo dam on the Susquehanna river. The Chesapeake Bay's largest source of fresh water and a major source of pollution. Now a federal appeals court has thrown out the operating license constellation energy got as a result of that agreement. A 50 year operating license awarded a constellation energy for the conowingo dam has been tossed after a federal appeals court agreed with environmentalists. Alison prose, the vice president of environmental protection and restoration with the Chesapeake Bay foundation says they joined a lawsuit after constellation in the state of Maryland agreed to ditch the water quality standards the state first proposed and violation of the federal clean water act. And that is what the court said wasn't allowed that the state put in issue a water quality certification, then back back. Maryland's department of environment has ordered a temporary halt to shellfish harvesting in a portion of the Chesapeake Bay because of a sewage overflow This covers more than 10,000 acres of the bay in Baltimore city. Baltimore county and Anna rondell county. The sewage overflow was stopped Friday and the newly closed area should reopen for harvesting on January 11th. The overflow is a concern because shellfish like oysters are typically eaten raw. Baltimore county officials alerted the state about a sewage overflow affecting a back river tributary on December 12th. They estimate that more than 2 million gallons were discharged into surface waters near the muddy gut tributary. Police in pierce county, Washington are investigating a Christmas morning attack. On three power substations that cost outages in 14,000 customers in the area. Reporter Brie seda whole gun has more. The pierce county sheriff's department says they will be monitoring all substations right now. In an interview with inside nova, Prince William county GOP chair Denny Doherty said he simply asking the county to honor the political party's rights to pick their own representative instead of having to accept the registrar's choice. The election's office also received a letter from a lawyer from the local GOP, threatening a lawsuit if Republicans didn't get more representation in the high ranking election chief and assistant chief roles. The November election is a little over a month away, but D.C. voters are getting ballots now, more than 500,000 ballots are being mailed out. One going to every registered voter in the city. First and foremost, keep an eye on the mailbox, balance should be showing up literally any day now. Nick Jacobs with the D.C. board of elections says voters are kept in the loop after they send the ballot back in. We have a tracking system so that once a ballot is returned to a Dropbox or goes back into the mail, it will inform the voter that the ballot is in transit that it is being processed and ultimately that it has been tabulated. The D.C. council has voted to end right on red at most intersections starting in January 2025. The measure still requires the mayor's signature and detox would have time to plan for the change and install new signs. Many traffic engineers advocates and community members agree that prohibiting right turns on red should be expanded across the district. Also, the bill will allow people riding bicycles and scooters to go through intersections with stop signs and red lights without stopping when it's safe to do so. Police have said it happened during an undercover drug deal. In the doorbell video, Prince William county police say Jaden Carter got into the back seat of an undercover detective's car, jaleel Turner got in the front passenger seat, pulled a gun on the detective, demanded and took money as the car with three suspects started to pull away other officers arrived. The suspects through their car in reverse as the officers fired, Carter was killed, his family disputes police saying that someone in the car fired at officers, Turner and the car's driver Shane Pollard are charged with robbery resulting in death. "Election 2022 on WTO, David Blair, the candidate and the democratic primary for Montgomery county executive will request a manual recount of paper ballots. On Saturday, the county's board of elections certified incumbent Mark L rich has the winner, beating Blair by just 35 votes. The Blair campaign tells WTO it plans to submit the recount petition today at noon. Right now in Maryland, your mail in ballots are not counted until two days after election day. But elections officials want to see that changed. The Maryland board of elections voted to request that a circuit court. To allow the counting of mail in ballots before election day so that we can get ahead of the curve and to simply not release those results until after election day is completed. Severn Miller and elections board members says this is needed since delays in county mail in ballots, which have become more popular recently, led to delays in certifying primary results, a certification only happening this week for the July 19th voting day.
