UK Royals

"Kings and queens with real power are a relic of the past in europe. Most of them today play ceremonial figurehead roles limited by their constitutions in britain pulls tell us most people are more or less supportive of the role. The windsors play as their royal family. Their lives are a regular beat for the british press and there are many elegance stops in british tourism connected to the queen and her family. Paul guest was an electrician on her majesty's royal yacht britannia when he was in the royal navy today. He works as a tour. Guide based in belfast. He's joined by. Elizabeth boardman a tour guide from bath not far from london. They're here to help us. Americans better understand the royals. In britain by the way our interviews recorded just prior to the global pandemic shutdowns liz. Paul thanks for joining us. Thank you very much right because if it's an interesting thing for us there's still kings and queens and in belgium and the netherlands spain over scandinavia. But they really have little power. But what's the purpose. Why do you. Brits willingly tax money to have kings and queens and princes printing around your country. I know that's a question that we always get asked his guides when we're doing our tours and yet one of the questions i always ask for members is put your hands up if you came on this tour just because we have a royal family. No one ever does that. We've got so much more to offer but the royal family are a big attraction for us as well because immediately. I'm sure if we just said prince charles prince william prince harry. Everyone has a visual of who they are because of the world media but for us as british citizens. It's a lot more than that. We're very personal about them. If we were to believe the Recent opinion polls approximately eighty eight percents of the british public are in favor of royal family which is quite surprising considering everyone still coming out of a depression and financial difficulties a hard but we like having the royals whether something actually practical about it and heavy responsibility to be a royal. Because do all the ceremonial stuff. I mean it's almost a fulltime job to be cutting edge hospitals and in the united states. We don't have anybody to do the ceremonial stuff except our politicians and in britain you can kind of divide. It threw the ceremonial stuff and politicians do the legislating. Yeah it's shared out between the royals. It's judy the of a sheduled which Follow i just want to reiterate what elizabeth sand and what what i think is It's a low for the royal family. I think we actually do love having a royal family On top of the huge amount of interest abroad and and brings in tourism and an income for the country to your heritage is sort of a celebration of england. Yeah goosebumps jurist. It's it's very interesting. So they are limited by the constitution so Do they have any political power at all. If a if a royal had a strong feeling about something what would they do. The house been royals of mid their feelings known especially prince charles on certain subjects. But as far as i'm aware they are told to sort of rain in a little bit on. Keep their opinions to themselves. So let's have a quick review of the royal family these days. Of course we've got queen elizabeth. She's getting old but she seems to be Still the metal name is did you of edinburgh also known as prince philip prince philip in their children so the eldest is prince charles who will be on next monarch followed by his sister. Princess own followed by his brother prince andrew. I'm also also a further brother. Who is prince edward. So all of these people are healthy and still in public Very match very much in the next generation. There's probably a lot of nieces and nephews. There is many nieces. And as we're speaking at the moment we've got three kings and one queen in waiting to go on the throne. What does that mean well. Basically what it means the next person in line for the throne when the queen dies will be prince. Charles right that will then be followed. By prince william his eldest son then prince william's eldest son prince george. Okay then we have his prince william's daughter princess charlotte. So i said that makes sense when the eldest son know if charles had an older daughter would she be next in line or is it still the old fashioned. Still be william. But when william and kate. Kate middleton who is william's wife when they were expecting prince george the eldest son. The law was changed if owner. So they couldn't grandfathered in but yeah grandfathered in so to speak the before the child was born. They changed the law. So they how that's historic it's historic. Donner gets the same rights in the lineage jackson. As it turned out they had prince george. But if prince george's had been girl it would have been a queen. Wow

It's still hard like even you know pitch at him and G are here anymore. No Kobe had to be in there on December How impactful he was on. Mj On his basketball. Because you know from our generation you know he was on my Jordan no he. He's the Guy Henry Lebron on the guys that the older generation will compared to Jordan and I was a conversation so no he had to be in there but the way they put it in there like the words how Mike who spoke of Kobe. Either back then in in ninety eight and all star game just before he did anything really know just being named all-star starter he captured everybody's attention to little Laker boy. Little boy I mean the spray in the world you know just talking about the in just the respect. Their Kobe half Mike. I might have Kobe. Just no talk to him. Give Him Advice. Tell him he. He's always there. If you need on me I know that means a lot to anybody so it was something to off. Affeldt good like I felt good watching. It was joining this to see Kobe. Out Jordan interactions and see him on camera on years later. In in in in in giving in-depth asser. It was a great piece in this time as you. It's a good timing because it makes you feel connected as a basketball community for sure Quinn. Finally you also published a children's book called a cookbook. Tell us a little bit about it because it seems super interesting and an inspirational. I guess somehow is wanted to do on. My mom gave me a book growing up. Michael Jordan's book saw in his shoes on. It was about Michael. He was always. I guess the smallest short he always said he wanted to grow and his mom. You know I guess. It was a a tradition or ritual that that was believed if you put saw every night he'll grow. It might never believe he never believed in it and then one day you like five nine like six four in the book the Children's book and I'll probably read that book till I was about. Fourteen fifteen when I go back to my mom's house like I'll go through it a little bit and just reminisce but a always wanted to do a book here. It was perfect. "Joining us now. Is Quinn Cook Lakers Point Guard? He was also playing college. At Duke was one of the top rated basketball recruits in the class of two thousand Eleven Cook One and NBA Championship with the Golden State Warriors. In two thousand eighteen. He also played for the Mavericks the Pelicans and he's also part of this amazing story of Basketball County. The new documentary we showtime and Kevin Durant about this incredible area and Maryland producing unbelievable. Mba Quinn thanks. So much for joining us all. Thanks for having me my pleasure Quinn. Let's start with the upcoming documentary on Showtime that. I just talked about Basketball County in the water. About Prince George's County Maryland. And how this section alongside the DC border produces an overwhelming of MBA talent including yourself. Talk to me about the project. And how much were you involved in it very much involved? you know it was a dream. Come true for me I majored in theater. So I've always been known to documentaries and you know editing and I'm like biasing of theater and You know there's something I've always wanted to do. Just shed light on where I'm from because I is such a unique place in the no close together a place and anybody from there tell you the same thing we all support each other especially guys who play basketball and who've made it you know to college in any type of pro so no for Kevin in enrich climbing to bring me on. It means a lot man and I know we've created something that you know. Everybody will love. I mean I can't wait to watch it as you mentioned you're part of this story in a crucial way you've said in the past even though you're physically and La your heart is always with pg county how was it. They're growing for you to talk to me a little bit about your childhood growing up on it was fine. We could do a lot. You know we had you know. Football Baseball knows basketball. Any anything sports related and just being a kid is something that you know any. Kate wants Opportunity to be great and For me growing up there I had so many resources so many people that look to so many people idolize and You know I just think that you know. I'm lucky to be from where I'm from specifically with basketball fans and is documentary. What do you think people are going to get out of it as they put your community you know on the big screen? What what do you think? We're going to get out of it when we watch it on. Just how together? We are close. We are on Japanese to each other is no hate is no jealousy is nothing is really all loving and and it's really a brotherhood. I think you know we started looking at different cities. What players from each city we compare to? La's in New York's Chicago's are we talking about one county. You're talking about one small Canada. Where all five ten minutes away from each other like we all grew up together. Go to school together. Go to church. Same Church Saint barbershops everything. So I think that's the the unique part about it and I think a lot of people don't really realize mystique until you start naming names and It's just an amazing pool of talent and not just basketball this thousands. Are you ella more about you? Know Our county absolutely. I mean you talk about yourself. Obviously Kevin Durant bitter depot as well. We just go on and on with the names. Do you think you talk. You're talking a lot about unity. Community love friendship. Do you think that's a major reason? Why the ratio of the growth of NBA on and has come obviously talented as as a major part of it. But this support around each one each individual's party a big key. Would you say you agree with that now for sure they everybody plays a big part on for me? It's like the guys who made the NBA are the only guys really get. You know that publicity opposite or resources is different than fans in basketball coach watches on a nightly basis. But for me it's like the people didn't make it. We all have a lot of guys who knows chose wrong on paths and you know. Sometimes the political side worked in their favor and basketball so they didn't get to go as far as we did so for us is like we want to share like everybody to the people who didn't make the people who helped us gave coaches the. Is Everything Pioneers in? Dc in a pressure county is something that means a lot to Louis so you talk a lot about that amplifying everybody and you know you actually show that a lot with your own foundation alongside your family. You know just continuing to help the area especially during this time earlier this month for example handing out meals to local police and firefighters. How important is it to you that you stay close to this community? Even when you're you know across the country as the world it means the world you. I don't know how much it means for for myself for my peers. Continue to give back and help on is is is just a blessing. Because that's what the guys before us and we wanted to keep you know of moving at four because we WANNA help everybody and no for my family just to be on. Frontline baroness this and helping out and You know it also basketball player. Not Like my family would does the same thing I grew up. We always know Thanksgiving Christmas we will go feed the homeless and stuff like that trying to help out on. My parents has always tried to instil. Like you know you guys are looking. You have a roof over your over here. You have two parents you you you. You're not missing meal. You have closing back on. Never not deaf granted so now that started early so I think I can speak for myself personally about it made the NBA or not. My family and myself were still be on the front line. No helping others. Because that's how we raise. Yeah and even more so now during this pandemic you see that. Know that unity even more. So let's talk about you Quinn for for you've previously talked quite honestly about your experiences at the damn especially when it broke out and when you took the test early on how how was it for you. What were those feelings? And how are you feeling? Now as the country deals with this year the tests on my experience I mean I think a lot of people will tell you uncomfortable nor is is a rough but Knows where it just to have a peace of mind. You'll get the right information and how to go about things in the you never would have thought the world could come to this saying. It's the worst thing that can happen ever but is a unique talk for all of us and we don't really have a grasp what was going on like. There's like no right answer like no just a lot no vaccines or anything. So listened to the experts. Listen to our government and just take a precaution up staying Away people staying away from large crowds cracking social dissing washing hands for twenty seconds. All that stuff counts all that Madison matters a lot of stuff that we grew up. No being taught really so no I just go about it. How everybody else is trying to stay positive. It could be a lot worse while pray for the families in people who are affected by this who can go to work. Wet Live on a check-check basis in their checks on coming in because there's no work With people whose family situations and household situation are comfortable or you know just very lucky. I'm very lucky and blessed. The seed is not going on and can't go outside as much but Noah it could be worse on for myself so always keep that in mind and I'll just trying to out. Everything is back to normal soon. We'll return after these messages. This is Jon. Wertheim if you like this show and our sports illustrated podcast. There's another show. We think you should check out. It's called against the rules against the rules. Bestselling author and journalist. Michael Lewis's searing look at fairness.

"This inking freely with ACLU of Maryland show that talks about what's happening politically in Maryland from the courts to the streets. I'm your host Amber Taylor Taylor. Axa just as an opportunity is too often based upon skin color. Something Black and Latino people know far too well. People of Color have been fighting as racist systems and government policies that discriminate against us since the beginning of the country but what happens when people of color work within a government institution that has a long history of systemic racism. A government institution that often discriminates against the communities that they come from and themselves yourselves one of these institutions is the Prince George's county police department. The Department serves a community whose residents are eighty percent black and Latina cts. And it's no secret that the police and black resin is heavy. Longstanding damaged relationship brought on in part by decades of racial profiling. Police abuse an unconstitutional. Nope police practices one group. That has been caught in the middle are opposite of color in the printers is county. Police departments back in December two thousand eighteen thirteen obstacle. Oh color with the printers is County Police Department along with the Hispanic National Law Enforcement Association and the United Black Police Officers Association volley lawsuits in Federal Court. That challenge the department's pattern and practice of unconstitutional conduct to put it. Frankly the longstanding failure of leadership within the printers printers county. Police Department has worsened under the current. Police chief he is. Allow the dominance of white officers fostered racist conduct and retaliation against officers in communities of Color and undermined the effectiveness of the department. Today we are joined by Lieutenant. Sonya Sola coffer and retired Captain Joe Perez President of the Hispanic National Law Enforcement Association to discuss why they decided to file this lawsuit. And we'll talk often about the message to other opposites of color and women officers fighting against discrimination in their police departments so Sonia Joe thank you so much after being on thinking freely. I really appreciate you coming on. We appreciate you inviting us. Thank you for having us so I wanted to start this conversation off Just it's getting like a a baseline as to you know what really attracted you you all to being and becoming police officers start. I was a meeting planner winner for maybe fifteen years and I traveled a lot negotiating contracts. And I've been a lot of places but I just got tired of being in the air and going to these places alone and a have a lot of friends that are in law enforcement so I decided one day in my office office Let me apply so I apply for different departments and my goal was I wanted to be an investigator. Why did you want to become investigated? Well because I wanted to get into Trying to figure out cases is in Getting to the meat of different types of situations and figuring them out and being able oh to help individuals in the community suggest. What about you? Well my story is a little different. I grew up in a bad neighborhood in New York City. Eighty and You know we used to have police officers jumping out how you know we were hanging out at either on a corner on a park. Can we have officers jump out and put us up against the wall and searches and do all these things and There was one particular officer they used the walked neighborhood. And we used to call him office a friendly and He knew us by name is the come and talk to us. He's the play basketball with You know he's he had a different approach and He was the reason why I wanted to be a law enforcement officer. I wanted to be like like him. And not like the others while you were a police officer while you. You won't be on the forest. Can you tell me about a time. That you felt felt was a meaningful time where you really like. Yes I'm like giving bets. Mike medium like you know doing this is like I'm doing what I signed up for. Well now when I came out of the Academy I was able to go back and work in the same neighborhood where I grew up and see some of the same individuals that I grew up with and showing them that you know we all come from the same neighborhood and but look at me if I can make a difference by just showing them that I improve myself. Even we know who grew up in mainly Park Fifteenth Avenue down to DC The community was proud of me and I I was proud to give back and help and I knew I was doing a great job. When I see some of those individuals I grew up with and they were very appreciative? Tiv- I would have to say the most meaningful time for me was Responding to a call where this young lady with several children She was a crime victim and I went over. There helped her took the report art. And you know dealing with this family and seeing what they didn't have in terms of you know it. It looks like they didn't have very much money yet. She was a victim of a crime and That gave that gave me and some other officers the idea to to go and put together a yearly food basket drive and we started by going through files and looking looking at people who were recent crime victims particularly women and children and we went and we started giving out food baskets. And when we first did that that first year it'd be it it started with a dozen food baskets a dozen victims and Dan Twenty years later would do one about a thousand food baskets every year. And I would have to say that that was you know that really struck a chord with me because it really resonates to me because it sounds more like not policing is like you know as out to get bad people but more of a hitter being a public servant and your hair to really serve the serve the community. Yes and that's what it's all about. King you can talk to me about you know could you both you. So have connections. PG talked me about like what the what the culture is like both in the county but then also on the forest as well. I'd say that that when I first started you know again you know going into police work with somethin'. Because of off of officer friendly you know something that I I really wanted to do. you know. At first everything was Nice and shiny. And you know you have this idea that you can go out and and help people all the time and You know one of the things that I noticed in police work is the culture and Tom When you go into the police academy they train you as though people in the community are our enemies like it gets us against them. You know and Once I was on the Police Department you know what I started thinking. You know Tom I need to do something to have an impact in order to change that type of culture. You know you're not gonNA change everyone nor every situation but you know little things that you can do. Maybe who bleed over into the next guy you know. I spent some of my time. I grew up in parts of DC and Prince George's county But I noticed that they were not a lot of minority women. You're in positions on the police department meaning officials higher officials and I remember number You can sign up to be A patrol officer on the bike and mm-hmm they would tell the women. It's too hard for us to accomplish that. it's it's very traumatic as far as physical Having to ride the bike through the neighborhood and carrying that bike and they didn't didn't have many women so at thirty six. I said okay. I'M GONNA try. I wanted to be one of the women not only a woman but a minority woman that can be on the bike patrol unit. And I did. I was able to succeed. There are a lot of bruises however however I was able to get through it and just knowing that you know. Minority women were predominantly dominantly male organization and It motivated me to prove to other women. Black Brown women that We can do the job the same way as men could and and as I was out in the community I've had other women walk up to me and like wow you're a police officer or they will complement me on my uniform Orman and then say you know I wanna be a police officer to her and that really helped me give back doc..

"Of parks and recreation prince George's county Sam back I think this guy is did you read the whole article still yeah I have I do not intend to to publicize what I wrote to anyone these are my principles I'm not going to comment on what we wrote to each other whether it was incomplete or something else but I remember very clear what I said what I did whom I wrote to and I can tell you one hundred percent and can answer for this that everything I did was right everything I did was within the law and I never crossed the line I never violated legal mid morning norms or moral ones I mean you can make a case and just to play devil's advocate you could make the case that the same types of pressures that the Democrats are accusing trump love to try to get you know announcements from public officials in Ukraine to say they're investigating something or saying the right thing that will help trump is happening here answer to the Democrats will say right they'll say well this is probably just another example of him just going and saying well you would need to announce that that meeting didn't happen you know like it it's not completely implausible such if you look at it from the democratic view however you know throw that away for a second whether it's true or not how do you file articles of impeachment without knowing well it least interview and the guy without what how how was tying doing this interview and not you if you're doing an impeachment inquiry do not submit these questions to training authority said to they are answered because it is not an actual looks that were true it's not that's the problem and this is where the and they know it this is where the Democrats are really really going to hurt themselves is a disaster I mean they're hiding this around Christmas because it's pathetic yeah it is pathetic I honestly think about this last night because we talk about this for awhile there is absolutely no legal pathway for the second article of impeachment not is it which is it obstruction of Congress basically saying like they don't give us the documents that you give us the the the the the aids to testify were pissed off about it that is absolutely the right of the executive branch everybody knows that well that was seven or nine different press nine different president and Bill Clinton right all this and they've all one they all one this is a very well established because they're supposed to be on the same level you can have one right branch overwhelming the other so why would they do that my belief here as I've been thinking about a little bit is it gives we Democrats in red states an opportunity to vote yes on that article of impeachment and no one the other one so they can say look we didn't it was going we do think we they had enough here we were with you we're looking at this seriously but the other one they absolutely did obstruct Congress that's because it's their right to do it they're the executive branch in their in their easy on the same level generally speaking so they're able to say yes they did do that one whether it's impeachable or not is already settled if it is it's an article of impeachment they already said it was so now you're voting you essentially on whether you believe they did it or not and they'll be.

"And recreation prince George's county as ditions change for so do the faces in high profile college campus roles this weekend's Jennifer to shrink has a look at the new faces of the sidelines in college football traditions are evolving in college football and that means you can now spot a woman as you as the drum major and an African American leprechaun at Notre Dame Rachel Bachmann of the Wall Street journal has written about these new faces on the sidelines and joins us now Rachel let's talk about what's going on at Notre Dame how has the mascot changed over the years well decades ago the mask I was actually likely to be an Irish terrier jewel dogs so that's one big waited change but in recent years yeah there's been a human a human being act as a leprechaun on the sidelines since about the nineteen sixties and generally until recent years that person has been a white man but starting actually in the late nineties early two thousands there was the first African American male leprechaun many Mike brown and and then this year we have the second African American male leprechaun the first woman and actually there's three of them and the third is the first Irish born abroad which is kind of a funny first but he is in fact the first Irish didn't to service netted improper con hello responsibilities don't think they do they really serve as a quite public face of the university on the out pep rallies on certainly at at at football games on the sideline a lot of them go run to eliminate hill gates before functions and they also get a three of those they also appear at other sporting events women's soccer games basketball games things like that the blow back to the fact there's a woman now and black leprechaun I you know I did see some traffic online some people her way in with comments you know that they preferred things the way they were kind of thing but you know that what I've seen and heard and what these folks who talked to me have expressed is they really have felt overwhelming support and in fact they've they've really been approached by people who appreciate them for who they are and and really appreciate seeing a lot of cases fans to see people who look like them representing them on the sidelines we're speaking with Rachel Bachmann of the Wall Street journal re tell your story also profiles a number of female drum majors at some big schools why is this a big deal well you know a lot of college bands didn't actually even have female musicians until the nineteen seventies and so bands to some extent were a little bit slow to to co educated women and and that was especially true for drum majors a lot of schools have never had a female drum major at USC is that road had its first in over a century this year and and in fact the the army west point band which originated in eighteen seventeen had its first female drum major this year so some schools had them you know couple decades ago but there are others that that for whom this is still first so it's pretty significant you also talked about the woman on the white horse at USC that's a new thing yeah I think that tradition dates to about the fifties or sixties having you know someone a ride in the the actual forced into a moral Coliseum and yeah it was one of those cases where she's actually not a student to just kind of interesting but there never was a woman in that role before her and and the woman I spoke with said that she has a lot of comments from people especially older women who are really appreciative to see a woman in this role that they've never never seen before about that wallstreet journal reporter Rachel Bachmann with this weekends Jennifer could shrink up don't forget by the way we can connect on social media you can friend us on Facebook you can follow us on Twitter at this morning showing you can follow me directly on Twitter as well at Gordon deal thirty minutes now after the hour.

"Of your friends so did you do it. Did you do the <hes> age challenge. If so what what did you think of yourself thirty years older or however many years the APP aged you or you think the APP aged you <hes> like I said I haven't done it so I cannot speak to how it made me look but but I can't speak to how it made friends look and some of them looked very much like their parents. Some of them did not some of them used it on their babies and that was weird so again. It was like the curious case of Benjamin Button. Let's move on to a different face. It's not an APP but <hes> Prince George Turns six today <hes> here's a here's a fun tidbit. Today is my nieces. He says sixteenth birthday she celebrated in Germany. She's on a band tour in Europe and so she got turned sixteen in Germany. That's not the fun fact it is a fun fact but <hes> Prince George was born on Herbert. They Prince Charlotte. It was born on my <hes> my other nieces birthday. Actually she's older so they they did it in the wrong order but <hes> so when Prince Louis was born we were like well he needs to be born on another niece's birthday and he did not cooperate so fail Prince Louis. I don't think <hes> can't remember when Archie was born if he was born on anybody's birthday that's a fail- on my part for not remembering at any rate. Prince George Turns six today and as is the custom. The Royal Family released official pictures of him. He has lost a tooth possibly more than one that looks like one is growing in so maybe he's lost more than one but he has a is a gap in the bottom of his mouth and a also is common kate took the pictures and they release them so he's wearing <hes> a soccer shirt in two of them and then a polo shirt another one and I think I read somewhere that the third picture <hes> <hes> was taken while they were on vacation and then he's so he's wearing a polo shirt and if I'm remembering correctly plaid shorts he looks very adorable of course the first two are very casual <hes> in the in one he's lying on the grass and looking up at the camera and smiling very big in the <hes> vacation shot he looks a little sleepy like maybe he just woke up from a vacation nap which is cool but <hes> he's adorable and has you know I I do like like to to look at pictures of royal babies. Just I don't know they're grown up. No Way that I certainly did not grow up and at any rate happy birthday to Prince George Happy Birthday to my niece as well and happy birthday to all the other of you out there who who have July twenty second birthdays hope you had a wonderful day <hes> I I will say also not social media related except that we talked about it on. What's up so hey I can make it social media related my niece ooh turn to sixteen today? Today was the day they went to <hes> Takao concentration camp so as a history buff she was very interested in learning more about it and being able to <hes> take the tour and they were only there. They were only there for a short time so she didn't get to see all. She said but she said it was fascinating. It was very emotional. It was very hard that she was glad that she had the experience. Just mamie wished it didn't have to be on hurt sixteenth birthday <hes> so at any rate happy birthday to her happy birthday to Prince George. Thank you so much to what's up with enables me to chat with my niece who is in a completely different country right now and <hes> turning sixteen mm so let's go ahead and take our second break of the podcast when we come up come back will be wrapping up this episode of the G._M._C. Popularity has skyrocketed recently because he has created this hilarious, prince, George mutual get more into, and we tell tell us about it. How did it start health about the concept? You know, it started kind of really simply I had started on Instagram now. I've just been doing. I mean, I've been on Instagram just over a year, and I've been doing George for just about a just roughly a year, and I saw images of him. It was his first day of school last year, and he was so expressive and his faces. He was making. I thought, oh, this is he's hilarious, and I'm going to just write some captions with him and it got nothing. You know, it was kind of like. And I had just been on Instagram a few months, and I text posts as well, and but it made me laugh, you know? So I kind of cat do it didn't do as well as the other post that I would do. But I still I was like, can I do second one done? One done him? Can I do to post a few weeks later? I did nother one of him like shaking his teachers hand, and then he smells it and he's like, smells commoner, something like that, I think. And then the response got more people started to get it a little bit, and I was like, I wonder what I could do with this. I wonder just kind of see where this goes and once Meghan Markle came on the scene and they became engaged in your job that, yeah. Well, I, you know, I started thinking of him more fully as any character that I would write for any show like will, and grace or family guy like a real three dimensional character. And my first thought was one, I saw that they were engaged. George won't like this is knocking want to share the spotlight with this young. Beautiful, modern American actress, you know, that would be a nightmare to him..

"We're going to protect you against them well you know the republicans what do they stiff i told you about knocking on doors and prince george's county you prince george's county maryland a largely minority black county in maryland will you not gonna door and you'll be if you knew nothing about politics you would expect given the democratic bent of the county people would be prochoice high taxes big government they're not they're not knock on the doors i did but why the people in those neighborhoods vote democrat because we make great partisans but terrible ideologues we have been gas lit by the media told the lie for so long that the democrats are the protectors of the little guy minority rights and other things despite any evidence that that's actually the case despite what i just told you that the democrats are actually fostering resentment in group identity they're actually doing the inverse that people believe it and they aligned with the partisan label completely ignoring the ideology behind him now that's important you understand that relationship to my statement that as things get better group identity politics and fostering collective identity resentments going to get worse because the democrats joe have to constantly search outdo fights now i it was white privilege now you're white there's a privilege to being white folks i can't dispute that there may in fact be privileges everywhere there may be privileged to white there may be a privilege to being born into middle or upper class family there may be a privilege to being born outside of a city there may be a privilege to be born inside of a city depending on its well privileges exists everywhere.
