"Here it is debate night. Joe Biden, Donald Trump Square off Mano a Mano live are right here on five decay of Y I, In post of a coverage will be myself, Rob Hunter and James T. Harris, who I cannot wait. This has been something that I've been looking forward to for months. Question is which President Trump's going to show up? I mean, I don't know how much he's prepared. That's the worry that I have. I don't know that he has done it in the traditional sense. He's going to look for those liners. What I want for President Trump to things. Make Joe Biden mad because he has a tendency when he gets criticized to fly off the handle your damn dog pony post soldier. That's what he says Something of that effect. That's my job. I'd like a little more aggressive, okay? So I want him to do that. Mike and I also want Joe Biden. All we want Trump to to sort of throw Biden ofthis game is because if Joe Biden does have let's say some form of dementia or something along those lines, it needs to be exposed tonight because obviously, that is a hugely important factor in deciding determining a president. Challenge A Trump has been preparing for this for I'd say about a year now, when he when Sarah Huckabee Sanders was released as the White House press secretary, and Donald Trump essentially just took over covert, helped with that, where we had the press briefings every day, But he said, You know, I don't need a press secretary before Caylee McKinnon and then he came in. That he would on his way to Marine one Wherever he was travelling, too. He would speak with reporters every single day and have questions lob did him that were completely unfair. Completely biased and completely one sided and he's ready for this. He he's been practicing every single day. That's the Donald Trump that is going to show up tonight. The same one that shows up on his way. Airforce one hope so. I mean, that's that's to keep because it has to be the key because Obama got a little cocky in 2012 and Romney life, the floor them in the first debate about binders full of women, You know, it was like a trump can get a little bit. It'll have himself a little Is there, you know, Even he was he was using Chris Christie's using Rudy Gel Giuliani, but the word out of those camps when they were doing it is Trump has trouble staying on one task for like a long time sitting in a room. You know doing this doing that? So that's what I hope he takes this. Seriously. He's not just looking for the one liner because tonight there's going to be. Some Americans were like I don't I don't like how you've run the country in four years. You just need to win 23% of those back to your camp and you win the election. I disagree. I think that Donald Trump has Donald Trump zeros in when Donald Trump needs to zero win. When he's playing the media. He'll play the media right now. He knows he has. He has a target in sight. He has Joe Biden in his cross hairs. All polls across the nation are showing a trump surgery. He's catching up. He knows he has his target in sight. He knows he is. He has a kill shot ready to go tonight, and he will stay focused. Just like we've never heard this when he's sitting down with world leaders with White House we've never heard from the world leaders or the press. Yeah, Donald Trump was all over the place. He wasn't focused on what was going on when Donald Trump needs does laser in He will lays her in and he is going to laser in on Joe by what I am concerned about the on ly thing I'm concerned about Rob is that he gets personal attacks going If he gets, too, if he steps over the line of what is acceptable for a personal attack in a debate that's not going to bode well for Donald Trump, but he has to get to that line if he wants to throw Biden ofthis game and get him riled up a little bit like mentioning Hunter Biden. Yeah, he's going obviously know the talking points to do But bide will be prepared for those now, Biden, but what he has to do is he has to show up for 90 minutes of which he's going to talk for 40. It's all Biden has to do. Did you get in my room? But you know, you can't prepare that Biden is going to show up weak. You can't prepare that way. Maybe he does. Maybe he doesn't. But Biden was a solid debater in the Democrat contest. I would if I'm Trump expect him to be the same tonight. It's not gonna be easy. He's not going to be a pushover. You've got to come in like he's going to bring his a game, Maybe in a game that you haven't seen in four years. But it's Joe Biden's a game from 2012. And if he's not Okay, then you ready to rock and roll? He's not 100% and Donald Trump. And the Trump campaign has ensured that this is going to be the case by lobbying certain things that Like, how about a drug test Joe before and after the debate. I want to know what kind of drugs they put you want. And you? Maybe it's an admiral. Maybe it's an 88 drug. Alright which I was speaking with a friend of mine earlier today, saying that he has a daughter in law school that Yeah. Takes, after all, just a study just to stay up and study. They can put him on a certain type of narcotics. Joe Biden. I mean, Donald Trump said Joe Biden. I want you to pee in a cup praying post. I'll do the same and then He also talked about the ear, piece said. I want him search for an ear piece on to make sure he's not using an ear piece during the debate, which I think was a misstep, because if you put in your piece in Joe Biden's here, I would love to see him sift through two conversations at one time and try to muscle through that. I don't think he has like this is and this is all about Mo mentum. I mean, you could put all those things out there if you want because it starts to chip away. But ultimately it's going to be about how Biden performs tonight, so but here's the thing. The Poles are trending in Trump's direction. All he has to do is keep that momentum on his sides. Latest poll Arizona has says it's tight. North Carolina Trump up by one. He's within two..

Trump declines to commit to peaceful transfer of power

"President Trump is trying to defuse a controversy stemming from a Wednesday White House news conference question where you would, whether or not he would commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he's not reelected to a second term. If you remember Hillary Clinton just a week ago or so told Joe Biden do not accept the results of the election under any circumstances, But you don't ask her that question. You only asked me the question Earlier in the day, White House press secretary Kayleigh Mcenany I told reporters that Mr Trump would accept the results of a free and fair election, she said. The question was to which Mr Trump was responding was prefaced with quote, win, lose or draw. Unquote.

"John Reed has made a very generous donation to my run for honorary mayor of Beaver Dam. He will therefore be my minister of information. No, no, my director of propaganda, No press secretary. Yeah, that's it. I'll make him my press secretary and I'm telling you, I've still got an opening for surgeon general. So if my friend Dr Joan, I amped who's listening, Joe, I've got an opening in the Beaver Dam Municipal hierarchy. If I am elected honorary mayor of Beaver Dam, I will make you the surgeon general. Of Beaver Dam. And of course, all you got to do is is making a very generous donation. I've got the links by the way up on Facebook and no, I don't take a nickel of it. Of course not. It's to raise money for four great charities up here. In Hanover County. I told you that there was one woman I heard who I think speaks for a lot of us, and, um, if you don't mind, let me Ah, let me pull this up here. Pablo, let's just hear from the one conservative woman who really does speak for many of us. If you are liberal and can't stand trump and can't possibly fathom why anyone would want to vote for him. Let me fill you in. We can't stand you. You've done everything in your power to try and destroy this country by tearing down our police our borders our history. Systematically destroying our schools and brainwashing our kids into thinking that socialism is the answer to everything. Demonizing religion and faith and glorifying abortion, violence and culture from calling us racist to expecting everyone of every color to follow our laws to ridiculing us for having the audacity to wish someone a merry Christmas or have a flag on the Fourth of July or stand for a national anthem or oh, the horror where Maga had out in public so much for your tolerance. We are voting for Trump not because he's the most charming character on the block, but because we vote policy over personality, and we're sick and tired of your divisive and destructive and anger in an intolerant behavior and believes parading around in some kind of woke nous. We are voting for Trump because of you. Yes, yes, that's exactly what is happening. Saying it was the fake news existed forever. It took Donald Trump to call it out. And you want to know. Who some of the people are who have forced people I say forced people to become defenders of Donald Trump the practitioners of fake news I've set up before. There are moments where I hear President Trump say something, or I read him Tweet something. Oh, my God, Raylan. I wouldn't. I wouldn't say it that Louay. They're They're just some moments Where you think, Kai says. It's not the polite way to say it or what have you But he's saying it. He's calling out people that desperately need to be called out. We have become defenders of President Trump many of us who did not support him. Certainly in that initial Republican primary member that we had, like what 809 people running to be the nominee. And I'll tell you I didn't see Donald Trump is the guy. I just didn't I just did. And you know what Beats me up about that is Corey Lou in Taos. Ski. Lewandowski got it from the beginning. By the way, Cory Lewandowski will be here tomorrow. We'll chat with him get his insight on the debate tonight. But I didn't see it. I really did in and I thought now that's not the way it's done. I don't know. I don't think so. And the mortar that I hear the self righteous, egomaniacal, sanctimonious bottom feeders trash the man, the more I realize I've got to stand up and defend my president. And that's what I'm doing. And I will gladly march in and vote to re elect him and the more I think of all the shenanigans. I think I might follow John reads. Plan. I think I might go to the Hanover County Register and vote early. I don't believe in this whole extended voting thing. Your word six weeks long. I just don't But I am so concerned that the Democrats are so desperate and so depraved that they'll do anything in their power to Ah Tau upset the actual election. I think maybe I'd better get in there. And vote early. Now, tonight's the debate and I am I think, in a unique position I am a proud supporter of President Trump. The bride. She doesn't like the way he speaks. She is one of these suburban moms. We've heard so much about them a suburban mom who does not like the way President Trump speaks she. In fact, she's really in many cases and in many ways repulsed So I'm not sure she she said. You know, I can't vote for Ah for Joe Biden. But I don't know if I can vote for Donald Trump. So we'll be watching that debate together listening to it on news radio W R BA as well. And then My my son. I don't know where I failed. He's I think it's Stanford. I'd like to blame Stanford for this, but he's now like a lift of center guy and I feel like ripping a piece of clothing or covering up the mirrors. But I know he'll be Watching the debate with us, but you know the weird thing. He's not a fan of Joe Biden's either. So I think it will be very, very interesting. "Will they change your life for the better? But if you subscribe, you can find out if you WANNA. Send video question please do we love to see you as you ask your question but keep it under a minute because we don't have time to edit it and we can't play it of its long mailbag bag is tomorrow. or I want to go back yesterday we were talking about this ridiculous New York Times tax story which the more I read about it. I read the whole story when it came out this is the story where they got twenty years of trump's taxes and found out that he paid as little as possible and doesn't seem to have broken any laws. He has one deduction that he made under an Obama. Regulation that the IRS is questioning and looking at. Until the you know the. New York Times made a big deal about this but really it's it's a truly nothing story. It is a genuine damp squib of another one of these bombshells, but it was obviously time to come out just as the debate was starting. So now Chris Wallace has to ask the question about it and it's a good question whether he'll ask about this but also ask about Hunter Biden and the money he made while he was in the White House come on and here's the deal they'll say not answer anything But but even so it's just it's a it's timed is obviously done in tandem with the Democrats. They don't have to call up and make a phone call about it. They know how to do. It was interesting to watch how it's being covered. You know the thing is this is not that the press is biased. I'm not saying that the press is biased against president trump no, no, no, no, no no. No I would never say that the problem is I mean the pro historian Jon meacham explain the problems cut three. I think it's an era and a moment to think a little grandly. Because president trump is the fullest manifestation of the darkest of American forces I'm some of the darkest of human forces, really selfishness and greed. Appetite and ambition and what the tax story shows and and. Endless data shows is that. He is a figure of created figure of fantasy wasn't the lion he's he's a poor person's idea of a rich person, but now he no, he's not even a rich person particularly. Got Paid seventy million dollars for in two years and taxes seventy million dollars that's almost more than I get paid for doing this. So I mean, I think I think we can say safely the Donald Trump is a rich person but the thing is the press is not biased. It's just happens to be trump is a manifestation of all human darkness see that's the thing that's and that's not an opinion that's not the bias. It's not like they. They just have gone insane and trump derangement syndrome. It is an actual fact that when human darkness manifest itself into human form, it becomes Donald Trump. That's just something that happens. You can see it I. Think it was in the movie human darkness or something. I can't remember what movie it was a horror film and human doctors manifest and there was trump. It was just a horrifying. So we have it on film. So obviously, it's not biased. It's not that they're biased, but it is interesting to note that the our friends at the media newsbusters. Have a new study out. that. Shows that this is really interesting for years ago. The liberal networks pounded Republican nominee donald trump with bad press yet he won the White House anyway now ABC CBS and NBC Evening Newscasts, or giving trump the same hostile treatment. But they've softened their approach to the Democratic opponent not only is Joe Biden facing much less negative coverage than the president he has received only one sixth as much. Negative coverage as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton received during the early weeks of the two thousand, sixteen general election i. told you this yesterday that you know at major major venues they're basically saying you know, let's not let's not go after even if we shouldn't criticize them all because we might affect the election in a way we don't want it to go and then the manifestation few not just. Donald Trump I. mean it's not just a man. It's not just a man going into the white. House is a manifestation of human is the Avatar the Avatar of human. Darkness. Unbelievable unbelievable. So when they are confronted with the fact that this New York Times Squibb is a hit piece coordinated. With the Democratic Party to be. Set up for the debate. I got I got. This is one of my. This is my favorite cut of the day. Basically is poppy harlow interviewing a deputy press secretary. Brian Morgenstern. About this story, you've gotTa Watch this watch her reaction. Where the taxes on hunters three and a half million from Russia where the tax. Dollars from should not president. Of millions of dollars, the president's spokesman about someone who is not Germane to this conversation who is not running for president has ever asked. Them. Ryan. Pleased our viewers, the service of. About the man you work because I asked the question, it's another version of it from four years ago. Novichok-tinged bottle found in Navalny's room: colleagues

"Now. Supporters of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, say traces off the nerve agent Na'vi Chuck have been found in a water bottle retrieved. From his hotel room in Siberia on the line from Moscow, Sergei Gauri Ash from the BBC's Russian service and Saturday. What's the significance of this? Sir James, the first and most Navalny's supporters has actually proven that the most prominent Kremlin critic was likely poison before he headed to the airport in Siberia. And fell violently ill on a flight last month, So at first they thought that he was poisoned in the airport of AA Cup of tea, which he drank in the airport Cafe in Tom's cuts the city in Siberia. But they have actually proven that they found a bottle of water with dresses off this nerve. Asians know the choke on the neck of that motel in Navalny's hotel room, where he stayed in Tomsk. Which is why he was likely already. I think he was poisoned already, and he drank water from that bottle, and he left traces off the nerve agent on the neck of the bottle. Either the bottle was poisoned and which is one of only felt ill already on the plane. So and we I also know how exactly they have a past this very significant. Ah, ah, bottle to the German experts. So Navalny's supporters entered his hotel room just An hour after his press secretary tweeted that Navalny has fallen ill and the plane has landed in the city of Omsk. They have entered this room on DH. They searched for any objects which navalny could could possibly touch. Or he could use to check whether they were poisoned or not, And they've all supposed to Video in their accounts showing how they were searching this room and how they were packing This bottle's in plastic bags, using gloves and transferring them thereafter to building Bond his supporters then I mean, what did they say about this? In terms of what? It changes? Ah, you know for the investigation. Well, in fact, the video surveillance system in the hotel where Navalny has state and the Russian investigative news outfit, Proact has reported that the recordings from this system has been taken off by somebody, apparently from somebody from the security services. And it would be really not difficult to trace who has been entering Navalny's room at that hotel and who has been placed in pockets of water in his hotel room? Because he apparently drank from the bottle, and that both of was poisoned. And it is possible to. Ah, connect those two and to realise how this bottle of water ended in his hotel room and who brought it there. S O. The significant thing is that nobody was poisoned Like, hours before he actually felt ill so that our execute shed some light on the Ah how exactly he was poisoned. Two. Experts say that it couldn't be a poison in the water because in this case he would be Dead if you will be ill, like in minutes, not in ours, but it actually is their part of the investigation on this thing, and they obviously are goingto work in it more and more, But they just told how exactly they have found this bottle and where the crisis of this notion occasions were.

Today but then the president confirmed that yes, a staffer has tested positive and he said staffers but then Kaley mcenaney was seated there in the briefing room she weighed in and said, it was one staffer who tested positive last night at the event I'm assuming that means the president's townhall. He did that was the only event on his schedule in Philadelphia last night. But they didn't offer any more clarity than that. They keep saying they want to protect people's personal information to say the person's name. But the question is, of course, who were they around? What was their interactions with people? They did say they did not interact with the president or with the press, but Aaron then is really all the clarity we've got right now. But it does go to show someone else's tested positive as the White House and the trump campaign has been holding his events with very few mask and very little social distancing as well.

Biden press secretary accuses Trump campaign of funneling questions to Fox News in spar with anchor

"Biden Eyes in Michigan, Joe Biden says Democrats in Michigan. Who voted for him and Obama twice but then voted for Donald Trump. Are basically Racists. This is a county that President Obama and you carried twice on then President Trump carried by 12% points in 2016. Why do you think so Many of these voters turned against the Democratic Party in 2016. You know, I think it was the feeling that they were taking for granted. I don't know that for a fact. And I think that he he used that dog whistle on race. That's one hell of a way to try to get back Those votes. And Michigan and Wisconsin accused them of B was being closet Racists. AAA racist that voted for me and Obama there. Ah! Yeah, they bought into the dog whistle. That's a home strategy. Bolt. What is a bold strategy? Cotton now as bad as Joe Biden is on camera His campaign press secretary is worse. No way. T J Duck Low Just this little weaselly looking dude, he made the mistake of going on with Bret Bear on Fox News yesterday. And listen. Bright bears, not a got your questions kind of guy. He's pretty straight up. As a matter of fact, he was asking some easy yes or no questions. And it didn't really go well for Biden's press secretary. What specifically would the former vice president have done? Well, let's get a few things straight. The vice president was not against the travel ban. First of all, second of all, let's let's remember, and he wasn't Brett. Let's remember an important distinction. Donald Trump was the president of the United States. It was on Donald. I'm asking you, Joe Budden. It was on the was Donald action toe actually protect the PT closed the travel that show Biden wrote an op ed in USA Today in January, warning that the threat was coming. Joe Biden said in February that Donald Trump should get people on the ground in China. What did what did Donald Trump do? Donald Trump was praising China. Donald Trump was praising President. She's response, saying that they had it under control. When clearly he knew, as we now know, from Bob Woodward. They did not have it under control. He should have been protecting the American people. He should have been putting real plans in place. So let me just confront in clinically dangerous. Understand. Let me just clarify your saying that Joe Biden was for closing down travel from China when the president did it. Joe Biden has been cleared. I continue the fact checks if they're helpful, Brett Joe Biden has been clear that he was not against that travel ban that he was for Joe Biden has been clear about how I can continue the fact checks if they're helpful. This has been fact checked into oblivion. Okay, I'm just asking the question. You're saying yes. He was for the shit. China travel ban when the president implemented it. 2 48 hours after receiving that briefing, the important thing about the travel babe, But I know that you will like to cite the travel ran. I know that. You know the president does. That's why I'm bringing it up are obviously it's going to be in the debate. Hold on. The important thing to know about the travel ban is that even after the president implemented that travel ban, tens of thousands of people came in and out, Take it. Then what was the question? You're going to send me some back goes on like this for, like, five minutes. This poor dude. TJ Duck Low, the campaign press secretary. He's worse on camera than Biden. Now, Here's Brett Baer asking a very simple question. Does Joe Biden have the questions coming to him in a teleprompter? Does he have his responses in a TelePrompTer because that's one of the allegations of the Trump campaign is saying Let's see how this question goes. Nobody ever used to teleprompter during local interviews or to answer Q and a with supporters were not goingto get this is this is straight from the Trump campaign they're using and what it does, and what it does is it's trying to distract the American just from there using and they talk about it every day. When you say yes or no, That's what they talk about it every day break because they don't have a coherent you answer Yes or no, Brett. They talked about it every day because they don't have a coherent argument for why Donald Trump. Deserves reelection deserves four more years. We know that he lied to the American people. We know that he has not shown leadership during this crisis, and they are desperate to throw anything they can against the wall to try to distract from the fact I understand, But you can't answer the question, but I am not going to allow. Okay, Trump campaign toe, funnel their questions through Fox News and get me to respond to that. So that's a no. Or yes, I don't even know why I got the question, wouldn't you? If you say no. If that was the case does Joe Biden use a teleprompter? When the answering questions to the press If the answer was no, wouldn't you? Would there be a problem saying? No. I understand the problem saying Yes, right. Why would you just lie? No, Not at all. Yeah, And then and then the other one. Well, well, You know what? I'm actually gonna have the E mail you the answer the memories. He's gonna email brown bear the fact checks right? I'll email you The fact checkers. Google Google? Yeah, That's not a good answer you You know it's bad when Joe Biden's coming up to you saying Listen, Kenny, you're pretty bad on camera, sir. My name's not Kenny. It doesn't matter. You're not allowed to speak on camera anymore. And this is coming from me. Joe Biden

Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders talks about new memoir and Woodward book

"Sanders is a former White House press secretary. Newly released book is entitled speaking for myself. Faith Freedom. And the fine of our lives Since of the Trump White House. You can fell around Twitter at Sarah. How could be good? Marty said. Good to talk to you. Good morning. Thank you for having me. Yeah. Sarah, tell me what's the one thing you want is to know based on the book about this president that either of supporters and detractors do not know. Well, I think the biggest takeaway there have been a lot of books written about the president and about the Trump Administration and after 2.5 year, spending nearly every single day of those 2.5 years with the president, I wanted people to see the president that I got to know the Donald Trump that gets up every day fighting for our country and that really loves America and wants to see it succeed and be at its very best. And I tried to write stories and moments that highlight that that show a different side of this president, sometimes a softer side, the compassionate and generous side that I had the privilege of seeing every day. There. We had Jonathan Karl on that that long ago here on the farm. I think they believe he had written a book as well. And he talked glowingly about the president out spine of the relationship inside that White House press room, but Is this common with the president and in some of his detractors I think they're certainly always been tension that exists between the press corps in the White House staff and the president specifically, But it has ratcheted up in this administration, the amount of negative attacks and the tension between the press and the White House is higher than it's ever been. But there are certainly I think plenty of good moment to and there are good reporters out there that are trying hard to get good information to the American people. Unfortunately, they're usually overshadowed by the loud Most people in the room her looking to be more of the story, then to report the story and that became too common in this White House and in this presidency. Speaking with Sarah Huckabee Sanders, former White House pressing, sir, of course in the recent released a brand new book entitled Speaking for myself, Faith, Freedom in the Fight for Our Lives Inside the Trump White House, Sarah the Woodward book. I think one big question that a lot of the present supporters have is this. Why did he give him such Accessibility. I think that after Woodward's first book about the president that was so negative, the president was hopeful that if he injected his own voice into the story, he could change the narrative. Unfortunately, Bob Woodward's been writing books about presidents for a long time, and very few have ever been positive. So I'm not sure that he was going to be able to change anything. He has. Woodward has a formula. He sticks to it, and he sells books and has done very well in doing that. I don't think I would have advised the president to spend that much time with him. But one of the things I find refreshing about this president if he isn't afraid to take questions from reporters, he does that almost every single day whether it's in the Oval Office, the briefing room or the South Lawn of the White House, he is accessible in a way that we have never seen a president be in modern history. There was. This has been a lot of criticism of Bob Woodward if he believed he had information and the president on tape. Of things that the president claim one thing in public and a love thing behind closed doors. And it would impact health and well being of the United States and its citizens. He had an obligation to report that did he not. Absolutely. He would have had a moral obligation to do that. That's why I don't think he felt that anyone was actually in danger as if he was more focused on selling books. Look, Let's not forget the president started talking about the Corona virus in January In his state of the Union address, he took early actions banning travel from China at the same time that Democrats like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi were attacking the president for taking that action. I think the president has really tried to do everything he could to keep the country calm, not collapse our economy completely while protecting lives and protecting livelihood. Having said that, did he lie? That's that's the sexism by his critics. But I don't think so. I think the president again he didn't want to create panic. I think we saw the similar rhetoric come from both from Joe Biden, he said. We don't want hysteria. We don't want people to panic. I don't think it is abnormal for the president of the United States for the leader of our country to want to keep our country calm and to keep people focused on defeating Disease and keep park economy from completely collapsing. I don't think that that is is wrong for the president to try Todo. The name of the book is speaking for myself. Faith freedom of the fight for our lives Inside the Trump. White House By Sarah Huckabee. Sanders. Sara. Thanks best look to the book to you as well, Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

President Trump doesn't dispute downplaying COVID in order to reduce 'panic'

"There are a few games for every president. One of those games is that at some point, Bob Woodward will write a book about you. While you're in office, the Democratic National Committee is trying to solve this prime minister. Began before dawn Saturday when five intruders were captured by police inside the offices of the committee in Washington. By Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein broke the Watergate story since then Woodward has done his thing where he talks to literally everybody can at the White House and writes up the narrative that emerges to do that he often talks to sources on deep background that means names aren't used not even their direct quotes. The reason I bring this up is don't talk to him. Someone else will and the best way to get your version of the story out there is to give him a call. I. That is how he managed to get interviews over the. Last several months we begin tonight with those bombshell recordings. We yesterday we finally learned what is in Bob Woodward's latest book about President Trump. There were lots of revelations in the Washington Post report, but the biggest was the claim that the president intentionally misled Americans about how bad the novel Corona virus was at a critical moment and this admission do not come from a bunch of unnamed sources it came from President trump himself. Let's ABC's chief White House correspondent Jonathan, Karl John We've now learned the president did a ton of on record interviews with Bob Woodward. What did he tell him? Well, he did eighteen interviews with Woodward Woodward tape them, and now we we hear the audio here the President's voice in this headline on the virus, which is you see the president's progression slee we only have five people hopefully everything's GonNa be great. They have somewhat of a problem, but hopefully, it's all going to be great but we're working. With China just so you know and other countries very very closely. So it doesn't get out of hand February seventh interview. So this is really we're starting to grasp the the severity of the pandemic overseas, not necessarily here in the United States yet the president tells Woodward quite candidly that this is really bad. It goes through Air Bob that's always tougher than the touch. You don't have to touch things right. But the air, you just breathe the air that's how it's passed. This is more deadly than the flu more deadly than even the most strenuous flus. So. The president is acknowledging on February seventh to Bob Woodward that this is a really dangerous threat. And in and by the way. The virus fast forward that working hard looks like by April and theory when it gets a little warmer. Miraculously goes away. That's true. We know what the president was saying publicly was largely downplaying the threat. This is a flu. This is like a flu within a couple of days is going to be down close to zero. Now it's turning out not just all people. Today and yesterday. Some startling facts came out. It's not just old all. Were asked him about that in a in a subsequent interview in the middle of March, and the president quite candidly says that he likes to. Downplay the threat basically because he doesn't want to get people to work up, I, wanted to. Play it down I like laying it down. Because I don't want to create panic. And you were sitting in the White House briefing room waiting for the press secretary as this was all dropping yesterday, right like Woodward's audio recordings playing on CNN's. What was the response from the White House? Well, this is an extraordinary story of Woodward and scientist Woodward's reportings. We often get in his books. There's actual tapes of the President's Voice essentially acknowledging that he had been misleading the American public I mean. This is this is there other details of the book that were also you know embarrassing so clearly, a little bit of damage control in real time is going on in the white? House the. Breathing was pushed back by fifteen minutes than another fifteen minutes than another fifteen minutes and eventually Kelly Mac, in any of the press secretary comes out. So this president does what leaders do good leaders it stay calm and resolute at a time when you faced an insurmountable challenge, that's what this president is not that the president lied to the American College about the threat posed by the president has never lied to the American public on Cova actually say. That the president. Did Not downplay the coronavirus threat never downplayed the virus. Once again, the president expressed calm. The president was serious about this when Democrats were pursuing their sham and. Hear the president's. Own Voice telling Bob Woodward. Always play it down I still like playing down likes to play it down because he doesn't want to create a panic and then after macanese briefing, the president came out made an announcement on related about his potential judicial nominees. And he was asked about this and said you know so did you mislead the public well I think if you said in order to reduce panic perhaps that sell fact is a cheerleader for this country I love our country and I don't want people to be frightened I don't want to create panic as you say, and certainly I'm not going to drive. This country or the world into a frenzy, and he acknowledges right there right there what he said on the tape to Woodward yes. He he does downplaying worried about creating panic. Well. So what is the justification of that though John Jonkers? I didn't WANNA start a panic but on the other hand, if somebody hears, you say this is no worse than a flu and they act like that and then they get the coronavirus and have horrible health from vacations I mean, what do you say to that the White House? It's a tough one because this is a president the. Leadership and not creating a panic isn't about like lying to

White House: Trump Wasn't Lying About Coronavirus, He Was "Expressing Calm"

"President Trump in light of a forthcoming book by journalist Bob Woodward as NPR's Aisha Roscoe reports, the book contends Trump deliberately downplayed the seriousness of the Corona virus at the outset of the pandemic. In an interview with Bob Woodward Back in March, President Trump said he wanted to quote play it down when it came to the danger of the Corona virus. Trump said at the time he liked to play down the virus because he did not want to create a panic. Trump sat down with Woodward for more than a dozen on the record interviews that were recorded with his permission. During this time publicly, Trump was casting doubt on the significance of the Corona virus and repeatedly comparing it to the flu. White House press secretary Kayleigh Mcenany defended Trump's response to the virus. She said he was trying to convey calm to the American people. Aisha Roscoe.

Trump admits to downplaying coronavirus threat in audio recordings

"President Trump now admitting, Perhaps perhaps, he says he misled the public about the severity of covert 19 in order to reduce panic comet came a couple of hours after the White House insisted President Trump never lie to the American public about the Corona virus. I almost wish the federal government hadn't given one point six billion dollars to project work speed to try and find a vaccine. Democrats founded the media founded. They told us all you gotta do is go out and smashed in storefronts, and that's not going to spread the virus. You WanNa riot in the streets and burned out churches. That's not going to spread the virus, so I almost wish data spent the money because it seems like they found the cure, but we're putting in safety measures, and regardless of how this this convention actually looks. We're excited to move forward with it. Will and I. I encourage I would love to see full convention and I know that you guys have internal decisions to make with all that I totally appreciate it, but you look at our event that we did in Phoenix with three thousand four hundred students there we have no evidence as of the recording of this that there is any surgeon cases at all whatsoever with three thousand four hundred young people in the room hearing from the press, the United States and also South Dakota the president gave one of the best speeches of his presidency was phenomenal speech really well right in front of. Of Mount, Rushmore and just as of three days ago, there were active cases were down by ten in south. Dakota with no new deaths I was three days ago, and there was a slight increase about ten days later, but part of that is just probably baked into tourist season, but it wasn't a surge that the people said that there would be so I think that there is I think there is more space to be able to live events again and I know you guys are tracking that very closely. The best and most informed decision and I think that. That this this the president's greatest political asset. I mean it's something that historically we've never seen before. Where a president can just show up, you know without a rock band or a you know a famous celebrity and just draw thirty thousand people I mean we've never seen anything like it and Joe Biden wants to rob that he wants to take it away from the the the president, of course, because the contrast is so stark again it's about choices, but when you have one hand one of the other. The left always accuses the right of the very thing. They themselves are guilty of actually doing you know. Yeah it. It's absolutely insane I I joke today. I watched this whole defunding police argument in the media. Just Chris Wallace was chief among them, saying no, no, he didn't. He never said defend the police. Are you never said defend the police? The whole cabinet thing and the reaction from the media politicians Hollywood elites kind of change the overall narrative of that against an innocent man who had an accusation against him now but back to our original thing. Our original question that we had of terror read was. Why are you just now saying something? Yeah well now. Footage has shown has surfaced okay which this footage alone is more evidence than they ever had against. Brett cabin all right okay. Nine thousand nine hundred three CNN. Larry King Right Larry. King's King literally of news TV High News TV news radio. Whatever they called in to Larry King to talk about this and nothing was done back in nineteen ninety three. I don't really know what happened back then. I was six at the time. Okay so I can't really tell you any more than that but what I can tell you is that video has surfaced on twitter and twitter has taken it down multiple times yeah. Cnn scrubbed it off their streaming Zai. Why why why do that? Why would you do that? Why would you do that okay? Also what is very very very interesting is some of the key politicians some of the key. Hollywood elitist that were ready to put Brett Kavanagh's head on a pike have now know that these allegations are there against Joe Biden. But they're just openly endorsing Joe Biden even going as far to say. I believe Joe Explanation. What is good enough for me? His explanation Not Not an investigation. Into the truth his explanation is good enough for me. Yeah even the moderates that are saying like you know. Let's let's run this through the proper channels. We need to be legal about this. It's like Oh like we were saying with cavenaugh. Yeah back when we were sexist all the names. I don't think we call them enough names. I think that's what it is. That's our bullies. And they sit there and call you racist Blah Blah Blah and pressure. You into doing something. They were saying that Cnn during the entire cabin all debacle ran over six hundred articles attacking Cavanaugh. Yeah six hundred articles. I looked it up. I did CNN. Joe Biden Assault The first article from CNN was published twelve hours ago. The first one. Yeah THE FIRST ARTICLE FROM CNN. And the only reason they're doing it is because enough people like us are saying what the crap is going on You know we're not saying Joe Biden did it. Of course I'm not saying that. I don't think he would remember if he did it either. Way You'd have to try them You wouldn't be able to try him as a normal person. You'd have to try them for mental incompetence at the but anyway all I'm saying is I'm wanting to talk about the hypocrisy of it all. Yeah Okay Hashtag believe all women Hashtag me to the deafening silence from the very people that were the biggest advocates that during the break Kevin is proving what we said all along that they don't believe women care about women they're not empowering women they just hated Donald Trump and tried to ruin a swing vote in the Supreme Court to the conservative side of things. That's all there was too and it's the same for every every group of people that they always target right. Yeah Women Hispanics Blacks look at people like terrance Williams. They are blatantly attacked by the left. Well do you care about black people do care about black people to do what you say? Do you really care about women or do you care about you. Know the liberal side of women doing the thing. That's so interesting to me is the fact that you can literally pull up. People said when they did the things they said even Joe Biden the text he put out or are the tweets he put out during the cavenaugh. Hearings is stop and you can literally hold that up to what they're saying now with more credible allegation against Joe Biden and just nothing trump derangement syndrome. I think they're so afraid of trump being reelected that they're like this is our guy we have to stand behind him because if he goes down for this what are we going to do. We got trump again. So they're willing to let go of all their values you know everything they stood for because they're so afraid of trump getting elected. If I was if I was the White House right now I would plaster terror. Read on every single thing that they do. That's what I would do and I would simply put innocent until proven guilty but everyone should be treated the same or something like that and along the lines of if we did all this craziness for Cavanaugh. Why in the T? Total crap or we're not doing the same thing. Yeah for Joe Biden. While that was Supreme Court justice. We had to get the bottom of this man's trying to run for president of the United States. If he didn't do wouldn't make sense to be like sure. Yeah I'll I'll go answer questions to me. That's the weirdest part okay. Cavenaugh when cavenaugh accusations came out one of the first frigging things. That happened was cavenaugh. Put out a statement. It's like this is not true. I did not do this one hundred percent. This is a lie. Joe Biden said crap right nothing. They don't want Joe Biden to open his freaking mouth about this stuff. You gotta say something about the actress. Yeah the actress. Who WHO's Joe? I mean but just I saw the most it just humiliating ad from Joe Biden. The other day where it was him and his wife and he was just standing there. It was a solid two and a half three minute ad and his wife talked the entire time hidden. Say a word not even a yeah or Nothing he didn't speak. The man was not allowed to speak. You let your wife talk you shut up and stand there. You see now old fool. That's what I'm saying guys. I think they know well one the way that the mainstream media is acting the way that the politicians democratic politicians are acting the way the Hollywood elites are acting. It's almost like they know he did it. And so they're just completely completely just just trying to step over it because I think they know that if they really started digging into Joe Biden. They're gonna find some stuff now. I don't know that that's a personal opinion. And of course again I say innocent until proven guilty but every action that they are taking right now points to. They believe that he did it. And they don't want anybody digging every action of conservative. Gop members during the cavenaugh thing. Even the president said let him go to trial he needs to go to trial. I'm not stepping in. Let him go to trial because if he did it he doesn't deserve to be a Supreme Court justice and if not do it the truth will come out. The I remember very vividly. The president saying that You know no not helping him. I don't need my supreme court justice to be weak. He needs to go through this. If you know this is what we gotta do to get to the truth. It needs to be done. You see the difference their That's all I'm saying. It's really really crazy to me. I just a video out about it and I'm curious to see a facebook blocks it. Of course I'm pretty sure they won't let it be monetize. I'm just I'm just interested to see the distribution rate of this video Since it is blatantly talking about the hypocrisy between cavenaugh and Biden accusations. If you're if you're four women at should be regardless of political party. Now if you're a believe women it is above politics above being Republican liberal. Whatever it is and manages look so bad the optics on this is terrible the optics on it is terrible but the problem is it's just like even with the president president the stormy Daniels accusations and now later on even after he pater to shut up right. Now she's come out and said yeah it never happened. You know what I mean it stuff like that and here we are with A. There's nothing to suggest that this woman is mental. There's nothing to suggest any of this and and to me doesn't seem like there's any true vindictiveness behind it because this woman has says something before and it's on video tape unlike word of mouth like with the Blazey Ford stuff Okay it's video. She called the she called back in ninety three. Okay let let's try to put ourselves back in ninety three world. Okay there were no cellphones turned. There were no cellphones. There was barely any internet in every house. If you needed to get something heard about you called into Larry King Okay. Let's just let's just put it in full perspective here okay. She called the absolute biggest story. Busting thing that she could possibly do back. In Ninety three. There was no one bigger right. They Larry King and CNN actually used to be unbiased in early nine. Yeah of course. Because they didn't realize the power they had yet right okay but my point is this. She did the most massive thing that she could do back in ninety three. She called into the biggest news. Personality in the World Larry King. Nothing happened and so now now She sees this man who did this to her and ninety three she witnessed the Brett cavenaugh stuff. Go down and now. She's saying wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute. This guy did to me. What you claimed Kavanagh did to another person. I talked about this and ninety three. Nothing happened now. I'm coming forward again because the guys running for president and you still are talking about it right and all they have on trump. Is that audio from the tour? Bus Switch again. Every man in America is like look was it. Was it good? No does every man ever talk about some stuff. They probably shouldn't talk about. Yeah famous musician or something and telling your buddy. Yeah they just throw themselves Japan. And I'll let you do whatever right. That's IT and every time they say how he's a sexist above all refer to that video. Okay well look at all the inappropriate touching videos of Biden and then add this on top of it if trump was like rubbing on people's shoulders and kissing them constantly. Then maybe I'd say that Bus Radios. Kinda weird because he is real. The main aggressive man bit his finger. Yeah on live. Tv like a Weirdo. Yeah anyway all right you think for yourself. Maybe maybe here soon. The story is really going to break. I feel like it's on the cusp. Yeah becoming a big deal and so that's one thing that we hope this and the videos were pointing that we're putting out hope that this pushes it over the edge that it needs to be pushed over to. Yeah it's interesting to me. The trump campaign has not even I know Don Jr. started saying some stuff about it again them initiative ready. They're getting ready anyway enough enough with the antics now it is time for outside of Sarah Sanders. Probably one of my newest favorite White House. Press Secretary's Yeah. This chick doesn't pull no punches. She punches you right in the mouth. I love it. I think it's awesome. Kaley mcenaney joins us. Do we have another ad? No we do not. Three percent of the people who receive these loans are the bigger companies in meaning leave. Vast majority are out there helping small business owners back one million of the one point six million loans given businesses of ten or fewer employees..

"Tell you what with our president this man who doesn't sleep and who. I've seen work fifteen sixteen hours every day every day. I've no problem thinking that he's going to be just fine and just healthy and quote What so the issue here is that not sleeping. A lot and working lot are actually things that would probably lower your immune system nights strengthening. So why Chris saying that's well at least part of it is because she wants to project Com for Donald Trump that the the president is not panicking that the American people shouldn't panic which is a good thing but the other part of it and this is less good is donald trump. Fashions himself as a man's man. He's not somebody who runs from viruses. He runs at viruses If that even thing that's what Donald trump in his mind's eye sees and what he believes his election and his presidency is all about so therefore you have quotes like these which are deeply irresponsible to an American public who is looking for facts transparency and just plain honesty from their president smarts. And we're not getting that from the White House. Press Secretary and candidly. We're not really getting it from the president of the United States either. That should be concerning whether you're a Republican Democrat Independent Green Party activist. Whatever you are in a situation like this. We want the White House to be giving us the straight facts and we want our president to be doing things like washing your hands and other guidelines at the CDC in the NHL put out to avoid the spread of the corona virus. And that's why what Grisham said I think is just sort of stunning. But then also if you think about it in the context of the broader trump administration. Not all that surprising. And that's the point for March ninth. Two thousand twenty four more.

You know, they have to, they're getting it from the press, but also from the the president, I was watching the video of Nixon shoving, his press secretary of Air Force One. Well, there's no, there's no doubt that the press secretary serves to mask. No. Well, there's no doubt that some press secretary see themselves as serving two masters. Mike McCurry certainly did he thought he needed to serve the press and serve the president and try mightily, never to lie to the press. During the Trump administration is a little bit different. The press secretary more or less has an audience of one that's true of any Trump administration official who goes on television. They're they're communicating or performing for the president and the president likes it when the press is excoriated or when the press secretary pushes back against the press. I think the most famous instance of this, of course, was Sean Spicer's, very first press conference. Where the president literally sent him out to the briefing room to insist that his inauguration was the most heavily attended augury in history, which turns out not to be true. It's important even in this post truth era that were in with Donald Trump, it is important for the press secretary to retain their credibility and to try as much as possible to be accurate until the truth. That's why you hear press secretaries, including Sarah. Sanders often say this to the best of my knowledge. Here's this piece of information or I haven't spoken to the president about that or, you know, I haven't asked him that question. I haven't discussed this with him so better to be ignorant than inaccurate. Yeah, on that at does dimensions of the way staff ever lied to or withhold information from the press secretary so that they can be ignorant and don't have to lie to the press about something. Sure that's called plausible deniability apps. -olutely better to be out of the loop then to be saying something that turns out to be false Y you know, there's so much discussion now the truth doesn't matter anymore. Objective facts. Don't matter the the Trump believes that he can pretty much say whatever he wants and it won't matter. But credibility does matter what happens when the president is asking Americans to sacrifice because of something that he's decided as important to do. He has to have credibility for that. What happens when the president is asking US allies to follow the US in some kind of endeavor or or military action? You know, credibility is important. And if you are cavalier with the facts, they'll come a time when nobody will believe you and you'll need them to. Are there any particularly memorable moments from those briefings in your in your tenure of reporting on them that you could like to share. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. I mean, you could you could you could use the most current examples where you know the press secretary denied that the president knew about the payments to stormy Daniels because because the president himself had denied them, I mean, and then those those turned out not to be operative, but I can't think of anything really off the top of my head. A lot of times these press briefings are riffing and boring. And sometimes that's the goal not to make news. And when you're in there, these, these are people with whom you've worked for a long time. Are you just Chit chatting beforehand? Oh, even my colleagues from different stations. Yes, of course. Yes. And we all get along really well, and sometimes the press doesn't do a good job of following up and reinforcing each other's questions, but we try. And how often is the press contradicting what the press secretary is presenting as fact that happen pretty regularly. Sure. Yes, absolutely. It happens all the time. We're more during the Trump administration than. Than before when the president says three million people voted illegally, and there's no evidence for that. Sure. We will mention that to the press secretary and then hill. She'll generally say something like, well, this is what he believes she'll find she'll find some kind of safe lily pad to a light on where she can say something that's technically accurate because no press secretary wants to flat out lie to the press and who is giving the press secretary, their information who briefs them before they brief you, oh, they go, they go around and they, they have. They have a pre briefing meeting. They go around to different officials in the administration and in the White House to get the best information they can so they can transmit it. That's why often the press briefing is late because they're scrambling to put their talking points together. I think we sort of touched on. I was very curious as to whether or not being a member of the White House press corps was exciting or tended more toward the boring side things compared to your other. You know, I used to say used to say that the exciting part of the job starts when you walk in. The gates off of Pennsylvania Avenue in the and and ends when you walk in the door to the White House. Because a lot of times the the life of a White House correspondent is like an animal in the zoo. You're in a cage and they can't really go anywhere you want or walk around. And occasionally they opened the door and they throw in a piece of red meat, a little bit of news. They shut the door and they run like zookeeper, but covering the White House is a peculiar kind of beat because you can't roam the halls like you do in congress is more restricted and especially in this White House where they really do see themselves as at war with the press, how easy would it be for the president to revoke a White House, press

"Civics went to one is supported in part by the corporation for public broadcasting. Swan, no one. I did. Now you did. The president with very straightforward and his comment, and I'm not gonna dignify the question any report that Mr. dean had prior knowledge of the Watergate matter is totally false. Was the largest audience to ever witness in augury Puran the president has denied and continues to the not the underlying claim. And again, I've given the best information that had at the time. I'm EJ. And this is civics. Wanna won the podcast fresher course on the basics of our democracy and today the White House press secretary, really excited for this one. Our guest has been through myriad, press secretary's. It is Mara Liasson national political correspondent for NPR. Great. Let's do it. All right. Well, Mara, thank you so much for joining us welcomed civics one. Thanks for having me. So I guess let's start with the very brass tacks. What is the job of the press secretary? The job of the press secretary is to communicate the president's agenda to answer questions from the press and beyond that every press secretary has defined the job a little bit differently. Have you reported for several different press secretary? I have covered three White House's Bill Clinton Barack Obama. And now Donald Trump, I was the national political correspondent during George W Bush. So I wasn't at the White House every day, or I wasn't part of the White House rotation. But for those other three presidents, I was and every one of the press secretary's for those presidents had a slightly different approach to the job. Mike McCurry who was Bill Clinton's, press secretary was famous for saying his job was to be as truthful as possible and as helpful as possible to the press while also trying to communicate his bosses agenda and put it in the best possible light other press secretaries, have seen their job as more calm as a combatant as pushing back against the press demonizing the press kind of using the press as a foil and the communication part. The explaining. The administration's agenda has been secondary to those prosecutors. So it just depends on the president and the administration. But one thing I'm curious about is if you could describe sort of the scene when you step into a White House, press conference because you've been to a couple of these. What's it like when you're are you sitting around waiting for a while? Are you talking about a presidential press conference or or just a regular press briefing, both? What's the difference between the two of them? Well, there's a couple. There's a coup-. There's many different ways that the president and the press secretary communicate with the press. The most famous is a presidential press conference where it's formal, the president stands there and takes questions from reporters. Most presidents did a lot of those. Donald Trump has only done one in February of twenty seventeen one formal standalone solo, press conference. However, Donald Trump does interact with the press allot. He answers questions at what we call pool sprays, where a small group of reporters ushered into. The cabinet room or the Oval Office, and he's meeting with someone or he signing something, and he answers a few questions on the fly or he's going out to the helicopter or he's coming out of Air Force One. So he interacts with the press that way. Then there's the foreign leader press conference which under Trump has become what's known as to and to each leader takes two questions from their own press corps. So the president answers to questions from American reporters, and then the foreign leader calls on two of the traveling, press corps that has come with him from his country. Then there's the press briefing which happens every day that Sarah Sanders standing in the briefing room, we've had many different press secretary's use the briefing in different ways. In past administrations, they stood there until all the questions were finished. Sometimes it could be as long as an hour. Sarah Sanders keeps it very brief. Sometimes she eats up a lot of time at the top by reading from prepared REM. Marks making some announcements. But the biggest, I guess the biggest C change for me was when the daily press briefing was televised. There are many secretaries who've come to regret that because it does lead to grandstanding by some reporters and it's less useful and more of a confrontation and in those daily briefings, how does the press secretary choose who they're going to call on in the press briefing? The press secretary can call on whoever she wants a same thing in the press in a press conference with the president. But Sarah Sanders generally not always, but generally does what past press secretaries have done, which is starts with the front row, the wire services sit in the front row and so do the representatives of the major television networks, cable outlet outlets I sit in the second row. So the first row is NBC ABC C N and FOX Reuters. A P in the second row is the Washington Post, the New York Times NPR Bloomberg CBS, radio at cetera. So so generally she starts with the first row, but then she goes on whoever she wants. And in terms of that seating, is that something that the press secretary decides on the seating is determined by the White House Correspondents Association? We actually have assigned seats. My seat has a metal plaque on it that says, NPR and I am not a, let's see, I, I'm not exactly sure how those decisions get made, but I can tell you that NPR used to have a seat farther back way over on the left littering Clinton, yes. But during Clinton's somehow or other, they moved me up to the second row, right in the middle. I've had not quite sure how that happened. You know, sometimes news, news organizations go out of business, they lose their seat in the. Leafing room, things get shuffled around, does the press secretary play favorites at all in terms of who they're doling information out to or they're calling? Well, first of all, they're doling out information to everybody. We're all sitting there. It's carrying live on TV, but in terms of who they call on, yes, there's no doubt that sometimes press secretary's will go to what they consider to be a friendly reporter just for some relief or a reporter who's marginal or is guaranteed to ask a question totally off topic, a shirt. There's a strategy to this, but don't forget the press briefing even though it's the most public way that the press secretary in the and the White House interacts with the press because it's televised is not the most important way that journalists get information from the White House because we're spending all day trying to ask questions of administration officials on background off the record away from the cameras in terms of the job, what kind of qualifications is. Is good for someone to become a press secretary and iron stomach. And a thick skin. Somebody who's unflappable generally someone who has a pretty even demeanor. I don't think especially for television, which rewards cool over hot hotheaded press secretary would do very well. But Sarah Sanders actually has a very good personality to be the press secretary. She's very even.

"Press secretaries deputy press secretary was saying that the you know it's still not fair even though amazon collects when they pointed out to him the the deputy press secretary that an amazon does collect sales tax in those states that have sales taxes he said gab at the president still thinks it's unfair because there is no internet sales tax well what he's pointing out is that it doesn't exist yet which is to say that the president believes that there should be one and so that would require congress the president can't do that and the supreme court should do that although they could make a decision that would overturn this ninety nineteen ninety eight law right but then overturned by the two things are separate no those are very separate sub the the president may be looking for the same thing but i've never seen the president comment that this is going that the if they overturned quill and this nineteen ninetyeight law at the supreme court level it's going to do what he wanted that's not what he was getting at according to his step deputy press secretary the president is not happy that there is no internet sales tax which is to say that he believes there should be one which is also to say that congress must create that because that's how right laws create because yeah his his problem was not the ins and outs of of whether you have a physical presence or in rhino his his was just he believes that at and this is through a variety of different articles that he believes an academy is better when you don't get packages to your doorstep.

"Yeah l o j so if we can find that cara they would be it there's the negative stuff that's aimed at and the things that you hear every day from people this was more about the shooting i think where the nra or had to do with what went on in florida and so as you listen to it or as you think about it consider the source and then you know you either accept it for what it is i i don't know that i find these things entertaining but some people do for whatever the reason there's a clear message in it and there isn't a whole lot there's not a lot of creativity anymore in the negative trump messages pretty much they're all the same and some of them have substance some of them don't it just is what it is but i i find it interesting that a lot of people are trying to get the same message they don't think that because there is no reaction to the a message from the white house press secretary or selling the press corps that it doesn't get anywhere so let's try something else that makes more noise they basically says the same thing and i think we're is a collective even if you don't like trump he tired of hearing the same kind of message at least that's the way i read it you all can read a different way do you hear any specific more against the nra that was back in october that was more aimed at trump specifically this is at the nra so well seem to frustrate eminem that trump didn't respond to it and so then you ask okay what's the motivation from eminem does he really just not like trump any wants to hear back from him or is he trying to get a little bump by getting into a war with the president yeah probably a little of both i would jenner the president's angeles verify probably on air force one right now on his way to los angeles he's going to san diego to check the fence and then you're doing something else in san diego buffet has a fundraiser in belair tonight.

"The deputy press secretary could ducks the press briefing at the white house yesterday now we find out that the president is not happy with him and it seems that mr shaw contradicted previous white house statements on this guy rob porter who allegedly abused his exwives rights of listen to this all right before it was terminated yesterday uh and his last day or his his last day his last day was yesterday i know he came in earlier today to clear out of stuff uh yeah that i that's not the way this was spawn and that's not very delicate that i mean you know that's just you could hear the press like oh this is so wonderful we've kaci you've got you using the word terminated that's not the word that sarah used and saying he cleaned out his stuff is less than diplomatic less than delicate i mean they were tried to make it seem like he was moving on a make it seem a little of the allegations but he decided it was best that he just go yeah i mean you really got to sing for the same cheetah music in these situations i mean i'll tell you we we have no clue whether anybody new bob in administration ever done anything like this because the press wasn't interested at it i don't think they ever were they wouldn't have investigated even if somebody had walked up and said hey if you heard this because it's just not something they care about but with trump they will care and that's why you got to be careful about who your higher but anyway then rochon said this about everybody at the white house which apparently this is the thing that really got the president upset supposedly we all could have done better over the last few hours early last last few days in dealing with the situation but you know this is the rapporteur's that i and many others have dealt with at sarah dealt with other other officials including the chief of staff had dealt with and the emerging reports were not reflective of the individual who we had come to know i think it was okay at the end right but his say we all could have done better i mean you is especially working for a guy like trump who probably is hanging he's probably watching the thing live in the.

"Arkansas in very rooted there what are the implications of bringing a cultural attitude rather than necessarily some kind of commit to factual discourse to that podium kentley we'll look at this the culture is absolute contempt for the media and president trump of obviously had spent a great deal of time trying to build this narrative that the that the media are not to be trusted where the enemy were you know where the fake news of propagators it cetera so why would anyone expect the press secretary to bring something other than that attitude to the room now now if she had come from the press corps as so many previous press secretaries have i think you'd see something very different taking place for one thing there's this understanding that that you under that of kind of a mutual experience and goals and there's even though the the press secretary might have uh might be seen as having cross over to the dark side he he or she would be somewhat uh selfaware end and humble selfeffacing and about that so there is a clear geology when there's a that shared experience moreover the press secretary and that circumstance would under seeing more or less what the reporters are after and if he can't give it to them than you know there's a everybody kind of accepts that to it's just a it's a different attitude altogether and i've major having been in the room a lot more than i have would would probably be able to expand on that i think i mean major maybe you don't deserve collegiality yemen's white house or not.

"She said this is what he meant to say and by the way she's not the first press secretary to have to clarify what the president actually met i went on said going around that lock yep and but if you look at this from the perspective of just everyday americans who are watching this a by the way i think we can say this is maybe the first time in history that the press briefing has become a destination it's popular soap operas people can't wait to to watch the next episode um but you know with you're looking at it from that perspective she's answering that question perfectly well and the reporters being obnoxious so what does this say about our discourse going forward it is sir it's it's simply amplifies i think th the division that we that we talk about all the time that people really do perceive and see things in completely different ways when given and presented with the same set of facts of this is probably not the best example of of sara obviating the truth but yet it's it's some you know i there would have been a simpler with it a solution i think it had she just said we'll look i think he probably misspoke what he meant was blah blah blah and that's kind of the end of the story instead of just digging in her heels and refusing to budge the thing is a major donald trump knows full well or i would think the advantage of sitting with the highest tax nation in the world sure which we are not even close to being but that that's a very big claim that could make a lot of people turning her to say what.
