"Of your Friday edition of Justice and drew your roundtable edition. We have one leg of the round table in studio in that would be Brian about everything barn guests. Brian miller. Comedian will be joining us shortly six five one nine eight nine five eight five five is the phone number. If you want to take part in the program at any time or you can use pound two fifty on any mobile device in just say TNT on this snow melting Friday, we are very pleased to welcome as we do on Fridays. Representative Tom Emmer lots to talk about good morning, sir. How are we doing this morning? Doing great, John. Listen, I hope your neighbors. Got that big enough. Duck vote you and your whole family and next week when the snow starts melting. The streets around my house, look like rivers. Yeah. Water's just flowing down them likely. Look like, we'll look like small rivers live in a frozen Venice now apparently. Get to work. Good news. It's going to wash out all the debris from Minnesota and Senate ripe down in Texas. Spring. We've got an odd dynamic going on because our because the way the way our warehouses located in relation to the son. Like the neighbors across the street like all their yards are almost like God. And we still got like three feet in front of our yard. So we've got a little ways to go before. We start starts starts flooding. Let's start off. Let's start off here. Real quick you Amer have reintroduced some legislation to ensure the rights for law abiding gun purchasers, we were not to totally sort of bring the two together. But we were talking this morning about that arithmetic shooting that took place in New Zealand and just sort of discussing, you know, the individuals being able to go and defend themselves in in in various circumstances. And so this is the topic of gun rights is certainly going to be top of mind for a little while now. Yeah. But you gotta be careful. I mean, that's a tragic incident. Obviously, a New Zealand apparently from some indications it is an Australian who masterminded or carried out the action, but you know, people who wanna make this a second amendment issue the issue, and it's all about the the object that we're talking about the gun itself. I mean, I they neglect that when you have some of these incidents, they're major mental health issues, which if it's not a gun it's going to be a truck or it's going to be some other method of delivering the evil act that they wanted to liver. Second. You gotta go back just a few years too. I believe it's Norway's one of the country's with one of the most extreme limitations on the citizens ability to own a firearm, if I'm not mistaken, I did go back and look this morning because I didn't expect you. Ask a quite this way. But it got me to thinking. There was a an evil act where you're not supposed to be able to get a hold of guns. And yet some guy got him and went out to some camp. And. Whole bunch of young kids and others. So you gotta be careful with these shiny objects. I think John, okay, look, it's gone. It's this and that no, no evil people and people who are sick are going to find a way to do we need to do a better job of identifying those people in taking care of them before they act now will we get to firearms. You know, there's a second amendment in this country. That's supposed to again, recognize the liberty of the individual the rights of the individual in a free society of one of them that our founders thought was important with the ability to protect oneself to own a firearm. I reintroduced I guess you'd say this week the fire due process Protection Act because our government has a problem. I, you know, some some of us believe that you have a second amendment. That's all you need. But the government has put some restrictions on, you know, background checks and things that you need to do to make sure, you know. That that is what we have our government for is this debate over what is the balance between personal liberty and in safety within society. So that's fine. But when someone gets denied the right to have a firearm wrongly there has to be due process. So that they can get their rights restored in a nutshell. If you want me to go through the details, I can. But that's what it is each year the federal government in this country denies thousands of law abiding Americans the right to purchase a firearm because the government made an error and identifying these people that's what we're trying to solve so near release here. It's says in order to protect the constitutional liberties of Americans they should be given the ability to enforce their rights at the FBI does not act on an appeal within the deadline. In addition for the sake of transparency and oversight congress in America. The American people should have access to the statistics regarding the total number in nature of appeal. Has has been been reintroduced? What's your what's your gauge on the type of support you expect it to get well? Well, I'm going to have a little problem with the new socialist in the house. Yeah. But the, you know. This is more this year. I this is kind of a parallel track 'cause we need to work with the administration itself to solve a problem that was created under the Obama administration or the Obama administration. They just ignore these things in my opinion. They just you know, they threw them into the file, and they let them sit there and so binding Americans through no fault of their own who had been denied. I really had no avenue to get this thing resolved, and what we're trying to do again, you you file the same Bill. You raise the discussion you show them. You're serious about pursuing it, and you work with the administration to get agencies like the FBI to be responsive and do what we expected to do want to move on to a topic. We covered in SAM's top five a little bit ago, the symbolic and unanimous vote to to make the to urge the molar report to be made public. What was your what was your thought process as this was being introduced and getting ready to vote to be voted on? It doesn't do anything. Right. What does he do? Some people listening. So then why did you vote for him? It's called this is called childish. Gotcha politics. Chuck Schumer came up with this over on the Senate side, tried to get it through on a voice vote. It got denied because I includes tonight. It didn't get through a voice for somebody objected to it. It got called to a vote because there's an additional piece in it. That would require the hiring a new independent counsel to invest the independent counsel Muller in how he did his work. I first off guys. I don't agree with never agreed with appointing a special prosecutor to this thing. I thought it was a mistake. As we've now seen two years of this witch-hunt total. Just as a waste of resources something. The Justice department easily could have addressed without incurring all of this by not only financial investment. But the the media circus that has come along with it for for two years is this administration tried to move forward. And it's about to be released. I the reason you've haute for it is one we're not against making something public. We'll put it out there. But the law lease that up to the the attorney general, and that's Mr. bar William bar will decide whether or not to release it totally up to him. But it's again, it was a nothing thing. And it's like, it's more. Gotcha politics. That's what that's what you're dealing with them. That's not what the American people. Appreciate. So we voted for it. We moved on it's over. And Mel we have another. I would say nothing burger, and that's you know, the another symbolic votes since it'll be vetoed on the. On the emergency declaration. So they just keep coming. You mentioned. I mean, it's going to be up to to attorney general bar, but that's not even entirely the case because there are laws already in place that that dictate what he can release in. What he can't is is correct in that. Well, you're right. The special counsel regulations protect certain materials, including classified in grand jury information. So there there are things you, right? Andrew. If you dive into the weeds, you will never because by law, you know, certain things will will not be released in that's not his choice, but what he can release. That's what I understood we were both on the it's okay. It doesn't change a thing. It's totally up to him. Keep in mind spent twenty five million dollars on this investigation by the end of last year. If if the investigation guilds, you know, nothing of real significance. Right. And I can can can we can you pass a Bill says all the people that were urging for this after reimburse. You'll be charge him federal. By the way, guys. Here's what should tell you that. This is a nothing report despite Adam Schiff, greasy little Adam shifted out there every day. I mean, which by the way, Al start to give you some information. Adam Schiff is right in the middle of this thing, and Adam Schiff might actually be I well, he's going to run into some potential issues with his involvement in the original dossier and all of this stuff. But we'll save that for another day. I think which shows us that this. There's just nothing. There is Nancy Pelosi coming out earlier this week saying we're not gonna do any impeachment, right? There's nothing there. That's she's telling you there's nothing in the report, by the way. Tell me how the Democrats seem to know everything coming out of the Muller investigation before it comes out. I feel like there is a group text to chat with like the key players on the left and Muller. There were they're just they're just texting back and forth. All the information. I'm waiting for waiting for the special investigation into into that getting back to something that you mentioned a moment ago. The Senate did join the house and voting to terminate President Trump's Puerto emergency the president's promised to veto you mentioned symbolism again where is where is this going now? And do you think there's going to be any sort of long-term ramifications for those Republicans that voted against this in the in the Senate that might be, you know, the diehard Trump supporters that are upset? No, I don't it depends on how they message it, John. But there's going to be a debate in. I think we talked about this a couple of weeks ago there's going to be an ongoing debate. I like many of my colleagues we did not like turning a shouldn't say turning. We didn't appreciate the executive acting like a monarch when President Obama was in office and using the pen to legislate we feel the same way, by the way. When it comes to President Trump. The Democrats are trying to make this this emergency declaration issue. Look like, it's an Obama style. Monarchy as opposed to what it really is. Which is years before I got in congress, congress actually delegated certain authorities to the executive certain of burcin powers, which executives long before Donald Trump have been using in very interesting ways because the law allows them to do it. In fact, I brought up I think a couple of weeks back the example of the country that George W Bush wants I think it was Liberia that he he had an emergency declaration because the light Burien dictator was selling timber in taking the postage from the timber and buying weapons to use on his own people that was an emergency declaration. And that's within the law the delegated. Powers the congress gave to the executive for this type of action. Interestingly in and by the way, if we're going to have a debate about giving the executive too much authority, I agree with that..

Well for those just tuning in. I had mentioned this potential Democratic Senate judiciary committee. Cavenaugh surprise in that there apparently is a letter a referral to federal investigators. There are rumors and stories swirling that Feinstein has a letter from a woman who is claiming some type of contact with cavenaugh back in high school. And I'll listen I don't condone any behavior that is uncomfortable or any behavior that's not consensual, but this on the surface here seems like a hell of a stretch to do whatever they can to if it sounds. And I have a lot of care for any woman. Whether it's a teenage girl, a young woman an adult woman if they have any incident, which does make them uncomfortable, any type of a sexual attack and assault any. Anything I believe in Justice. I'm gonna get into this in in much more depth in just a moment. But those that are just tuning in on the Feinstein story. And what does this cavenaugh surprises? That's the the general consensus is the rumors are that it's something along those lines again, just rumors no confirmation. But if that's the case now, that's gonna be extremely unfortunate. So Rick Scott. Rick, Scott, the governor of Florida. Tweeted out at eleven forty five this morning. I disagree with that police president of the United States. That's the official White House President account on Twitter. And of course, President Trump's personal account is at real Donald Trump. So Rick, Scott, Florida governor running for Senate trying to displace Democrat Bill Nelson, which I would be extremely happy with that. So I do wish Rick Scott success in Florida. But the governor tweeted out Republican governor Florida I disagree with that potus. An independent study said thousands were lost and governor resemble. Agreed. I've been to Puerto Rico seven times and saw devastation firsthand. The loss of any life is tragic the extent of lives lost. As a result of Maria is heart wrenching all continue to help PR as in Puerto Rico. And that was after you had Paul Ryan. You had speaker Paul Ryan. Earlier today also said that he trusts the official death toll figures, you know, the the caller we just had on making the claim that no metrics have ever been used that that sort of a talking point a cover story. And I I'm very suspect of. Let me be clear here did some in Puerto Rico did the mayor of San Juan in particular really try to politicize and jump on top of her democratic command post to try to obliterate the president and to make it very political in Puerto Rico. Yes, the mayor of San Juan did that. Absolutely. I didn't see the governor to the best of my recollection. I don't remember the the governor Puerto Rico being anywhere near as bad as as the the mayor of San Juan. But you know, it's my recollection that governor russillo that he likes President Trump. But to dismiss that all the numbers are phoney and close to three thousand didn't die and different metrics we use. That's a bogus argument, folks. And you know, you can't politicize everything and this goes on both sides as a matter of fact, so I want to get into the nuts and. Volts the meat of what President Trump was referring to it his comments and his tweet, and we'll get to that coming up momentarily here on Schnitt. I have a message now for those that carry credit card debt. Now, I know that many of you, and listen, it's just it happens. Many of you have credit card debt on one card two cards, maybe five cards and more. What is the interest rate that you're paying in most cases, you are getting call bird with the annual percentage rate the APR on the interest..
