"Look, I think I think there's three points that I would make your first and foremost that this is largely trying on the Democrats have tohave a widespread unifying appeal whether it's in certain cases, Republicans speaking Or whether it's in freshman congresswoman Alexandria Cassio Cortez, who gave about a 92nd remarks earlier this evening, in which she said that it was the beginning of a new type of democratic Coalition. But the second point that I would make here is that for the Democrats, it really raises the question of whether or not this broad coalition is going to play well in key battleground states in key swing district like Michigan, like Wisconsin like parts of Pennsylvania, the third point that I would make here is that for other rising stars like freshmen congressmen, Connor Lamb Another centrist Democrat from Pennsylvania. He wasn't given as much speaking time that someone like an AOC so that contrast when I talked to my Republican sources, David is something that they are clearly aware of their looking at things like the green new deal, and they're trying to portray this as a message of a party that has gone too far and a nominee who has lost control of it. Okay. Thank you so much that it's really our chief Washington correspondent. As we have been seeing Joe Biden and Dr Bill Giovanni is what his wife actually in the classrooms either saying we're gonna hear from her later on. She is a teacher. She has a doctorate. In education. We'll hear from her just a little later on in time. Adam Posen want to come back to you? The President Peterson Institute? Uh, one of the really interesting questions I see emerging right now is Is this a different approach to economy? Because certainly Bernie Sanders thinks it is. Ah, cause you're Cortez thinks it is at the same time. Some people would like to portray Joe Biden is pretty much a moderate. Do we know What we're getting into Joe Biden when it comes to managing the economy. I think we do. I think it is going to be further left on, uh, frankly, constructive way then. Some of the Obama policies were, but I think it's still going to stop far short of Bernie Sanders is history. And, you know, I think it's important to keep a perspective on this. There are a lot of economies in the world, including a very free market allies like the of us like the United Kingdom, like Australia, like Canada. A swell as places like South Korea, Japan, especially Germany, in northern Europe that are far more mixed economies in an open way. It makes the government and and In private sector, and it hasn't hurt that much. I mean, there was an argument to be made in the seventies and eighties, when their welfare states and their wages and taxes were so excessive. In the U. S was being more dynamic. But that cap is hugely closed, and we've had price repeated crises. And so it's only reasonable for people to say OK, the U. S doesn't need to be a crazy outlier. And of course, this will start with health care That's going to be the biggest shift in some ways for average people under President Biden. Yes, And so Adam in terms of his approach overseas. We're hearing an awful lot that he is going to be forming alliances that he wants to restore the allies that we once had that that Democrats feel have been lost under President Trump. So if he's elected, and he moves in that direction, and we think about it in terms of President Trump's approach to China. How do you think Joe Biden handles because one of the criticisms we hear over and over about his time as vice president was that under President Obama, Vice President Biden didn't do enough to take on China and he's talked strong since then, and during the campaign, But what do you think he does in terms of taking on China beyond tryingto work with our allies? I think you're absolutely right that the biggest difference between a Biden presidency and a trump presidency visa be China is Methods and how much you pick fights with your potential allies versus Bring them on side. I think that the Trump Administration of my administration unfortunate Mr Campaign. Unfortunately, you're just going to be in a tit for tat match between now and the election, trying to talk who's going to be tougher who was soft?.

"That up and realized what that is because that's going to be more important than even the child trafficking stuff that will be treasonous activities. Age Struck it's it's literally a coup against an incoming President Peterson. I totally agree I totally agree these people are screwed but like even if they're solid evidence, it depends on who's in front of people telling them about it because all you have to do is twist the narrative put the click bait the right way right the title correctly, and you'll make enough people mad to say that trump's dictator putting his political adversaries in prison. What are Venezuela? Let's riot in order that's as easy. It is. So so these conversations are the most important thing. So what you're doing guys is one of the most important things that we can do right now secondly, applicable is we have to take stands on small things. Like. I. Have People that tell me like like I'm not gonNA come at people for wearing master and that stuff like can do what they want but that's the is what they want not what they have to do like when something gets mandated. Totally unconstitutional if they won't. Give. You. If, they won't do do business with you because you're not covering your face. Then there's a problem with that because I read an article this morning about in Naples Florida. One of the elected officials were saying, yeah. We're going to start talking about mandated vaccines cause. It's the next step to mandated mass definitely some sort of like. Yeah, so like we don't stand for war. If we don't take a stand for about the mass issue like even places like Walmart or target or like that are mandating these things like I walked into. Walmart. The other day picked up the groceries the thing I needed in dot my stuff the guys had met. Matt Mask is required said I can't. Just kept walking like it was it was like my test run of trying it for like. Me Down or anything like I knew. I was GONNA. Say Well, I. Have I've medical reason why can't? Like there's lots of different medical reasons. If you actually look, there's all kinds of things you can use hypoc hypocrisy here. Yeah all I'm saying is like they are doing this based off possible faulty information like if you look up the interviews with Dr, Erickson in. California. That got censored from Youtube. If you look at all these different there's multiple ideas on mass wearing multiple ideas ideas on. A cinematic individuals even carry it in are able to give it away. So there's a lot of conflicting information that I. Think is enough arsenal in my mind to say you know what? If they're gonNA play dirty I`Ma play dirty because I am not about to let them move that piece on the chessboard one step closer to the Queen one step closer to the king because guys a lot of you think you're just giving away upon. No big deal is just a frequent mass just relaxed to show people that you love them. It's like, yeah, and then that is a little bit more of your territory of independence and freedom scope creep. And then next is okay like, Hey, guys, I have scientific evidence to back up this vaccine works and everybody needs it. You know what? Even if it might not work fully for you there's no danger in it go ahead and get it and show everyone that you love 'em. Aren't you carrying? Aren't you loving? Just get this have your kids get it. These are the arguments I'm getting about masks I'm saying these people that are going to stand up once a vaccine gets mandated..

"I'm better than that. Is the most trusted today. There's no single anything it's a combination of things but yeah he's got to be so sick of playing first first-base really about first base. I think it is though I think to some degree. It's about this or visit outfield. He would run that out. I don't know if he was in the field. He would've been and his frustrated to reach a point where he didn't run the thing out. I mean like this. This is starting to pile up jock. I mean like the idea that he's put in this position essentially to fail fail because there's nobody else to do it and it's like the the teams cushion in the division is sort of being used against Jack Petersen like when it comes to being put first base where everyone knows this isn't what he does and he's not necessarily even doing great. The dodgers can just afford to put him there but he sorted ends up the within boy in the in the process. I don't think he was the whipping boy. I just think that Dave Roberts doesn't want to allow bad habits to seep into this team then. If you allow one thing to sort of happen that's considered unprofessional than at one becomes two two becomes four four becomes eight next you know you've derail rail. What is supposed to be world? Series run. Dave Roberts data right things. Jacques Peterson knows it. Oh Yeah even in the midst of frustration. You still have to do the right thing absolutely so so I'm not I'm not condoning only only the bad team goes at doesn't matter we're going to lose and I know I'm on your team does not condoning <unk> owning doctors say there. There's there is he's back now. I'm not condoning I'm just saying I think that they're related matters. I Dave Roberts did the right thing. You're absolutely correct and you want to make sure that that attitude doesn't end up seeping through the entire clubhouse particular time where the dodgers by their standards standards have been losing more games you know six yeah then then they're accustomed to and it's not the end of the world but you it would not shock me at all all if Peterson is ready for somebody else to be playing I in for him to go back of course of course he probably want that but you know for the sake of this conversation. It's about this one little moment in time in about the timing of when it happened they've lost for six. He was over for for the day. He's frustrated because this isn't his position now he this is not his position he somewhat being embarrassed trying to play that position but he's trying to you know keep his head up and and and be a good teammate and due to think David David ask of him and maybe the frustration they come out but just because the frustration come out just like with Bauer the other day through into baseball out of the freaking you you know you you that I'm going to go on the idea taken that ball and throwing it from the mound in the centre. Yeah I mean I it is listen President Peterson and running out. I feel like a man would have gone all the way I feel like every pitcher right before they leave the game when the managed about to pull them they should take the ball and throw innocent. That'd be great. That'd it'd be awesome and like you get shamed even more if you can't do it yeah what if you only hit the warning track yeah. Oh yeah you should like that. She might you kershaw. You've you've been trading him for years. No no I have not been cleared traders you guys treat. We need to help the bullpen help..

"So in the nineteen seventy s in the mid seventies. A frail elderly woman named Lula Parker Betson made a trip from her home in Utah to here in southern Nevada to a remote location out of Nike. That's art bell territory out there and an old mine site called the Johnny mine, and I was there a couple of days ago poking around. There's a there's a pass up there. They now call it Butch Cassidy pass. And although it's a state route unpaved state route the the the locals don't like interlopers. They put up signs that tell people to stay out Kerry Ross born you're along for the ride with Lula Parker Berenson, tell us who she was. And why you guys made the trip to Johnny Nevada. Well, Labatt Cassidy's youngest sister. Oh, no. Yeah. She wrote a book about her, brother. And in fact, I contributed information. So that. In the book. She she noted a letter that she had received from a fellow in the northwest announcing that her rather Butch at night there in nineteen thirty seven. That story. Anyone who would listen, but didn't believe that? He was convinced that he had been buried in Nevada. And so when we just govern information that his grave was there. She wanted to go and see it yourself. And so I met her there we didn't travel together she came with reality. And and I met her there, and we went up two butchers grade and next year alone at the grave for some period of time. She was convinced of it. There was never any doubt in your mind. That is where Chris buried. So can you describe the circumstances of his death when it happened? And and why you believe that to be the case. Well, like everything connected with Butch. It's it's replete with story upon story, which they told to deter people from from finding the site Lulu herself. Made me swear that while Cubas light would never tell anyone location the grain because she was great grey Robert would would take it out. And so for that reason there were Cheryl stories about how much the I was that he was working at the Johnny mine in nineteen forty four. When an eight foot fully wheel broke and toppled over on him and killed him. You was taken out into the desert not far from Johnny and buried. Later years. There was another story about having died lead Utah. Driven there to be buried next to the first person who was very became somewhat of a mystery. He's buried actually hit foot with the person who died in nineteen forty four. Only evidence indicates that the first one who died was one of these brothers. The second person who died was flicking shell and both are buried there. Ironically, not facing the east most graves are facing the northstar, which is what what should ask is his daughter. Did you for him? So which one do you believe her do you not want to say well? I don't think anyone is going to be able to say with certainty that either one. Is correct. But in my opinion from all of the evidence, which is overwhelming. Butch lead Utah. On Trump December nineteen fifty six at the age of ninety. Taken by car. The site at Johnny and buried next rather? Lisa can you? Maybe a well you first, and then carry give me sort of a rundown of the witnesses that the two of you detail in the book who saw Butch and or Sundance after the supposed- shootout in samba Sante Bolivia. Sure I'll start first with carries on grandfather Coleman for. He. And I believe also lay and he had gone over to me with them. And on his way back from meeting with them defect. Leafless nineteen twenty four. And his car hit a patch of ice and turned over and went off immigration into a creek and eventually died because of that. When he was very a large reef. They'll reef with. Beautiful flowers and things showed up to men stood off some way off in the distance watching. The preceding the burial his grandfather, and it was purported to be but late. It was one of the wild bunch guys. Right. One of the one of the gang. Plus, you have the Basset girls and Josie Bassett, Parker Benton, of course, herself you have alimony boy foreign a lot of the four of the born family, Charlie Krause and. Many house Rasmussen who was well known out in that country. You just have you have it in our book, we show at least three pages of individuals who claim that they saw Butch or new Butch came back and these were not all related to carry. But many of them were and a lot of the others are independent people. And like I said we've received many people and their descendants have firming directly to us. It was so refreshing for them to pick up a book and read stories. Talk to them by their own grandfather. Or or grandparents were and other relatives that these things happened in their family, and to know that somebody has recorded this. And so there's many people whereas you can't find anybody who actually was an eyewitness Sundance nine in Bolivia. I think what's interesting is that they joined today, they think they know everything how do they know they weren't a member of the Parker family. And yet the Parker family says which came back. Actually, I've read I've read some accounts by the folks who don't want this to be true. They said not even his family believes that because they'll find some members of the family who don't believe it. And you know, it's a big family. It's sort of like the family. We're gonna talk about later tonight, the Dunkin's and the brackets who who a lot of them had no idea that the true history of of some of their family members. And I would imagine there are members of the Parker family. Butch Cassidy's family who were not in on the secret. And don't think it's true. That could be I guess you a lot of families when you find radio, horse thief, or or something and your Jenny allergy wanting to disclaim him. But I think it would be awesome. Exactly. Carry a lot of confusion was sewn by the story of this guy. William Phillips up in Spokane who kind of looked like Butch, and there were writers who really went to bat for him as being Butch. He told people he was Butch. He went back to a lot of bushes old haunts, and because of the physical resemblance some people were fooled by them. He seemed to know a lot of inside information some of the writers who back that story are now among the the the least. The most vocal critics of the idea that Bush and Sundance came back because they got burned kinda got burned on this story. What do you what tell us about this William Phillips guy? Well, William Phillips. Wasn't early member in the wild bunch. He certainly had a lot of insight into their early history. It must be developed from the fact that Phillips got hold of the manuscript which had written you have to go back away surviving members of the wild bunch made a vow that the last survivors would write their story. And until everyone else was gone. They didn't want to public. With the help of van Bassett wrote an account of their activities, and it fell into the hands of Phillips. Presumably because Bush had given it to him to make notation and Sachin his experience, and he tried to sell the story to sunset magazine. And in order to do that he claimed that he was the author. He was the real Butch Cassidy he kind of looks like him doesn't he? He he has a resemblance, but but you need to see that it's not him. And and it's been disproven there. There's certainly no way he was. But he certainly did have insight into the history, and he went to be passionate himself office book, many people many people believed him, and so it brought about a great deal of confusion. But this story has since been debunked. William Phillips, Swiss not in any way, which Cassidy Phillips died in nineteen thirty seven in Spokane Washington and seen many times there over the years. And there was no way it can be the same person. Do you have any paper records any paper trail letters written by Butch even under assumed names that documented and along sort of in the same vein are there Pinkerton record? That suggests that they even believe that which Cassidy and the Sundance kid came back. Well, in regards to the Pinkerton, sir. I a friend for many years of William she Lynn who is life president Peterson. In fact, he was the co founder with me. The national outlaw man that Utah state university. Back in about nineteen seventy one. And he went through his records completely. And I have a letter from him confirming that there is no record among the featured in papers, which colors the file on either book or Sundance. And in fact, we're looking for Sundance and kid curry many years after you're supposed to death in South America. They they never believed this story of their data centers. Sandy. So they sort of went along with it. Okay. If everybody wants to believe that will go along with it. But secretly behind the scenes, we're still looking for them. Exactly. Yeah. It was good for their reputation to believe that they had been run to ground and done away with. But at the same time, they were actively pursuing them. And then the other part of that question was are there letters that are written that you can show were written by Butch you've been up under another name to family members, or whatever that that you have or have had access to there are several actually. One letter was written to it. Link back a little bit farther than the lighter. After the death of Matt Warner who is a member of the gang in nineteen thirty eight. And then showed up at his home in price Utah. And he admitted to match daughter. Join Warner that he was much Cassidy, and he was very distraught. Over the death of a Matt. And for a couple of years after that he wrote letters from goldfield Nevada back to the Warner family. We have copies of those letters. In his handwriting. There's also a letter that he he wrote to Matt Warner many years earlier. Remembering recalling events that they had participated in together. And the letter was written from California. So there are certain letters. But. There. There are others. Thing is proving that they were written by book. There are so many so many. Those who discredited that nothing can be proven. I dunno. Everyone's telling me that you can't even prove that you were born. So you can't really.

"You're listening to Bloomberg BusinessWeek Carol Massar along with Jason Kelly live the Georgia world congress center counting down the big game. Indeed. And we are here in Atlanta. And so we want to check in with you know, some of the leaders that go beyond the football field. And one of them has made his way here to radio row. Dr bud Peterson. He's the president of the Georgia institute of technology. It's Georgia Tech. That's what everybody calls it. I've saved my dad went there. I've been to a lot of Georgia Tech football games over the years. A lotta time on campus. And it really is an amazing economic engine here. Dr Peterson help us understand president Peterson. I should say. Help us understand sort of the role that Georgia Tech plays in Atlanta and beyond from a reparation for this whole category of a really important piece of the economy. So one of the recent developments in higher education that that probably the past ten or fifteen years is people businesses governments have been looking at institutions of higher education to focus on economic development. Right. And so that's been a big piece of what we've been doing for the past ten years or so that I've been here is to really look at how we can expand the economy of the state of Georgia and the nation for that matter and we've done that through a series of innovation centers where large companies today about thirty large companies coal Chick-fil-A homedepot. Delta all have these innovation centers located in an area. We call technology square. That's Jason to campus. So they can access the talent technologies that exist at Georgia Tech, and keep me honest here, but I seem to recall the Georgia Tech sort of pushed into midtown a little bit physically which really kind of changed the dynamic of that part.
