"Deal. Secretary of State Antony Blinken talked of Iran's refusal to engage in good faith and warned, we are prepared to turn to other options of Iran doesn't change course. But beneath the tough talk are a number of economic and regional political factors that suggest a resumption of diplomacy is still more likely than not. They include Iran's need for relief from U.S. sanctions. And president Joe Biden's hopes of avoiding a nuclear crisis that could overtake his domestic agenda. Other factors include Iran's growing relations with Russia and China. And Israel's less strident opposition to a deal former president Donald Trump abandoned in 2018. The bottom line is that restoring.

"The prize announcement. Now, today's story. Our first story. Current presidents will become past presidents, which is why they have backed one another on the question of executive privilege. But in the wake of the January 6th riot, president Joe Biden is breaking that norm. The house panel investigating the January 6th riot at the U.S. capitol plans next Tuesday to recommend criminal charges against Steve Bannon, a one time adviser to former president Donald Trump for not complying with a congressional subpoena. Thus we'll launch the next phase of a brewing clash between president Joe Biden.

America's Trust in Media Continues Downward Trend

"I mentioned a little earlier this Gallup poll They say America's trust in the media to report the news fully accurately and fairly as edged down four percentage points Since last year to 36% Making this year's reading the second lowest in the gallop's trend In all 7% of U.S. adults say they have a great deal in 29% of fair amount of trust and confidence in newspapers 7% a great deal Newspapers television radio news reporting which combined as four points above the 32% record low in 2016 These findings from his September 1 to 17 Paul the latest in Gallup's tracking of the public's confidence in key U.S. institutions Which began in 1972 between 1972 and 76 68% to 72% of Americans expressed trust in the mass media Yet by 1997 when the question was next asked trusts had dropped the 53% Now trust in the media which has averaged 45% since 1997 is not reached that majority level since 2003 After hitting its lowest point in 2016 trust in the media rebounded gaining 13 points in two years Mostly because of a surge among Democrats amid president Donald Trump's presidency Since 2018 however it has fallen to a total of 9 points as trust to slid among all groups Person trust in the media continues to be sharply polarized Currently 68% of Democrats why isn't a 100% of Democrats like the media I mean they are one and the same 11% of Republicans 31% of independents say they trust the media a great deal or a fair amount

That's very good. Thank you and i want to jump right in with you because we do need your wisdom okay. So would you believed twenty years after nine. Our president surrendered. Not even a possibility and we had it done and we handed over something so good after the rigged election. We had it so strong. And i dealt with abdul his leader and abdul ghani character. I dealt with him. The leader and i said any american soldiers get hit. You will pay a price. We're gonna take every ounce of equipment we wouldn't have had a bring our new soldiers in. They brought these young great soldiers in thirteen died many very badly wounded. Nobody ever talks about them. In two hundred fifty people overall were were killed. Mean you saw that. It was just terrible but that would have never happened because everything was orderly. Biden Administration's Relationship With International Allies on Shaky Ground

"At the end of the trump era in the us. The breathe to sigh of relief. America i was over and new president. Joe biden's words. America was bug. It was a signal. That europe's relationship with washington could return to normal. But it now seems that this reaction was premature and after the initial honeymoon period. There are serious doubts about the biden administration and america's commitment to its international partners joining me to discuss the eu us. Relations are suzanne lynch brussels playbook author political and former washington correspondent and dave keating brussels correspondent for france twenty four. Thanks both very much. For coming. On the show suzanne with former us president donald trump. They were doubts about american commitment but she. Now american competence. I think there is a lot of and soul-searching happening at the moment in brussels about what happened over the last few weeks. Of course it's only a couple of months since joe biden visited. Brussels and mesh with edgy seven leaders in the uk. a now. I think that meeting people begin to ask what choose achieved because you know six weeks eight weeks later. We have this. Chaotic scene evacuation situation if afghanistan where effectively america is calling the shots. It's driving the agenda. On the eu and nato allies america have to follow. So i think what we're seeing now is a real focus in brussels about the idea of some people caught a strategic autonomy can the eu depend on the us or work with the us to the extent that before am considering they feel that now. The War in Afghanistan Is Over, but Congressional Oversight Is Just Beginning

"War in afghanistan is over. But congressional oversight is just beginning by elena abramson. America's longest war may have ended but the accountability battles for president. Joe biden's administration are just beginning questions about the biden administrations chaotic exit from afghanistan which resulted in a gruesome terror attack that left thirteen u s. Servicemembers dad are setting up the first big congressional oversight probe off the current white house the by administration had been fielding questions from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle about the afghanistan withdrawal since the august thirty first deadline was set back in april but the requests for documents and testimony ratcheted up after the taliban took control of kabul on august fourteenth and intensified further after the deadly suicide bombing at the hamad karzai airport on august twenty. Sixth the push for accountability is coming from both political parties but differences in approach between democrats and republicans are already setting the stage for a pitched partisan battle for democrats. The fight will reveal whether their loyalties lie with party or with truth after they spent four years criticizing republicans for not conducting rigorous oversight of president donald trump for republicans. This moment marks an opportunity to attack. The biden administration after a series of decisions led to a speedy taliban takeover that put both us citizens and afghans endanger the congressional fight will be waged on both substance and process democrats control both chambers of congress so republicans don't have the power to issue subpoenas or call for testimony on their own and recent years. Congressional oversight typically has involved the president's party basically protecting its quarterback and under investigating its president and over investigating. The other party says. What Is President Trump's Vision for a Second Term?

"Aggressive will you be in your second term to root out those who don't believe the american people get to choose that president so we had some people in my first time. They've been there a long time but they are deep. Say there's no question about it. look. I had great people. I had a lot of great people. We rebuilt the military. we rebuilt. can you imagine a lot of the things that i bought for. Military have been handed over eighty. Three billion dollars have been handed over to the taliban. It's not even believable that this could happen by biden but we rebuilt the military. We did so many things we were so good on. Healthcare people don't realize it we were so good on every aspect including the fact that we cut taxes more than any other administration in history. We cut regulations. That's why our jobs were so good. We had more jobs than we are. The greatest economy in history probably the greatest economy and the history of the world. We had one hundred sixty million jobs. We've never even come close to that over the years and certainly not even now but i rebuilt the economy twice. I rebuilt it before covert. I built it before covet and then rebuilt it after covet but you see covets coming back now. If i were president and cova came back they'd be front page stories. They don't even mention it with by but cope. It's coming back. I mean you look at the numbers. The numbers are in some cases worse than they were before. And nobody blames biden. But if you look at afghanistan you look at cova coming back. You look at a many other things including high taxes high gasoline prices. The economy is going to be ruined. Because it's all phony. It's all fake. They're just pouring money into pouring money into the economy you look at what's going on We got we're going to have an interesting period of time for the next three or four years that i can tell you

"It says if your work your a loser and that straight from my former boss. President trump mr trump president trump. Can i ask you a very serious question about. Look the people love you. They come out in their tens of thousands is somebody said on my show there is nobody since fdi who can move tens of thousands of people with the love that you have missed the president. What is your message to those. That a lot of people out there who voted for you twice who after last november have said that's it. It's it's over. I give up. They're gonna steal it again. What do you say to those americans who lost hope mr president. Well first of all one of the reasons they come out and the kind of numbers when you have sixty seventy eighty thousand people showing up. We did one in florida. That was massive. We did one in ohio. That was incredible. I mean it's there's never been. There has actually never been anything like this whole movement of america. First or you could say. Make america great again there are plenty of definitions but there's never been a movement like this and they are looking for hope and you know what happened to the last election is is terrible so we want we want to elections. We did better the second time by the way. I don't know if you know that sebastian. But we got twelve million more votes the second time. We did much better the second time that we did the first time. But when something's rigged it's rig and my message to them we may have to do it a third time okay. That's the bottom line but my message to them is keep fighting keep strong. We're not gonna let it happen to not gonna take our country away. It's going to be bigger and better and stronger than ever. But we're going to have to do something because we have some very very sick people. They're very evil to. We've got a lot of evil people. But we've got people that i really believe. Do not love our country. You gave one of the two most impressive speeches you gave during my time in the white house. As far as i'm concerned were the very first address to congress to the joint session. And then afterwards you'll warsaw speech. I just wanna play a very small snippet to remind people of what i can monitoring chief looks like meant to ask you how this applies today with the taliban. This is your first address to the joint session of congress and you're discussing the then threat of isis cut to. I directed the department of defense to develop a plan to demolish and destroy isis. Fourth graders at the sar towel. Saint stephen school district. We're asked to take in equity survey administered by the equity alliance of minnesota. You see basically. Here's how this all works. You have a that was likely overdosing on drugs that was dealing counterfeit bills and was not treated properly by a police officer. And now we have to change our entire civilization. Just want to make sure we're all tracking that correctly so now in minnesota which were obviously george floyd died. They are implementing by decree equity surveys. You see you see that you have a guy who went up to a pregnant woman and put a gun to her belly. Who was a repeated criminal offender who is probably high. We know he was high on drugs. We don't know if it was a lethal amount. We do know that in certain medical examinations but somehow that incident last may now gives an excuse that fourth graders have to take an equity survey but this the survey questions that some students didn't understand even after hearing explanation from their teacher. But this is the amazing. They were informed not to tell their parents that they were taking the survey fourth grader. Hailey yes ker sitting alongside her mother on fox and friends said that the questions were confusing and made her very nervous and uncomfortable. In fact they were instructed not to tell their parents or their guardian. And this is. There's evidence that this is all across the state of minnesota. The only one of the ten commandments with a promise is honor your mother and father so that you may live long and peaceful in the land of which you are in if we dare not honor the that came before us and we allow this deconstructionist's agenda continue this and this alone could be one of the most detrimental trends in america because in scottsdale arizona minnesota. The banks made decisions which put them allegedly at risk of violating those same US economic sanctions. The argument against extradition would be that the crime. President Donald Donald Trump in order to get a better trade deal with China. While we spokesman Benjamin House is scathing about the treatment of Mung One. Joe The approach the Trump government has taken with the extradition order is a blatant abuse of process. You don't tell someone you're being stopped for a regular customs check when that's not true. You don't see vices and search them to try to find something juicy and you don't treat another country like they did with Canada. We don't blame Canada for the misdeeds then abuses of the trump administration and what about the two Canadians. Michael SPA Foreign Michal. Kovac arrested exactly a week after one. Juror that connection in between the two Canadians and Miss Mung has nothing to do with hallway. We do not play a role in that. It's not for us to get involved. Ottawa sees it very very differently. However the arrest of the Canadians was retaliation and in what some saw as a sign of desperation? Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asked Donald Trump to stall a potential U. S. China trade deal only Zika for the Speaking in French he said the the US should not sign a final agreement with China. That does not settle the question of Joe and the two Canadians. But while way remains A big stumbling block. Canada is caught up in a global argument over the company's five G. Network equipment. It's claimed that China could gained back door access to critical infrastructure for UK several members of the EU and Canada. Say they can manage the risk on the other hand the US Japan and some other countries have banned while we technology. China doesn't need alway to spy on Western countries China's quite good on spying on western countries without the help of w-way. My name is Stephanie Carbon. And I'm an Assistant Professor at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University. You and I'm a former national security analyst with the government of Canada. This does seem to be about. How Western democracies are dealing with state champions companies from authoritarian regimes that may have more nefarious purposes in mind in the long run? It will say it's following the law and your country but if you do something it doesn't like China will take hostages on behalf of that company to. It's finding new ways to circumvent the law so the risk here is much greater than just the technical risk. There's a much greater larger national security issue. Here the hearings are expected to take up to five days with the judgment. Not expected expected for several weeks if the judge rejects the extradition request or if mongering Joe wins the separate challenge. She will be able to come back home whatever happens. This is just the end of the beginning the BBC's Jitender said who in Vancouver British Columbia. Let's return to the top story the day. The impeachment trial of President Trump Republican Senate majority leader Mitch. McConnell kicked off the proceedings. He said our founders trusted the Senate to rise above short-term passions. They trusted the Senate soberly. Consider what has actually been proven and which outcome best serves the nation at a pretty high Bar Mr President and you might say that later today is body. We'll take our entrance exam. America's third presidential impeachment. The trial began with a partisan clash over the rules for the trial. Today we will consider and pass and organizing resolution that will structure the first phase of the trial. This initial step will offer an early signal to our country. McConnell said he will table or kill motions to subpoena specific witnesses or documents McConnell also said his rules are a fair roadmap and follow the Senate Impeachment Trial Royal President Bill Clinton Democrats harshly argued Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said. Today's trial has substantial differences from the Clinton trial two decades ago. Oh now leader. McConnell is just said he wants to go by the Clinton rules then why did he changed them. In four important ways at minimum to all make the trial less is transparent less clear and with less evidence. The four ways include making the trial shorter and not allowing further evidence and witnesses a later stage of the trial following the democratic uproar McConnell revise some of the rules to allow previous evidence collected during the house proceedings Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff who oversaw the impeachment process in. The House also made his case on the Senate floor today he said the president abused his power and obstructed justice when the founders wrote the impeachment in clause they had precisely this type of misconduct in mind conduct that abuses the power of his office for personal benefit that undermines minds our national security that invites foreign interference in our democratic process of an election. It is the Trifecta of constitutional misconduct conduct justifying impeachment. President trump weighed in on today's proceedings. He tweeted from Switzerland in all caps. Read the transcripts. "Gather to quote improve the State of the world three thousand participants from more than one hundred twenty countries and Macelroy is senior on your editor of the Economist. She's in Davos and joins us from the World Economic Forum there last year and president trump's skipped the world economic forum due to the US government shutdown. This year. You're his impeachment. Trial is underway. Here's what president. Trump told the media today in Davos when they asked why he wasn't in Washington. Lula he'll media were the world laid is it's the biggest Most important people in the world and we're bringing back tremendous business the United States and they're all here to see I'll be making a speech and then we'll be leaving shortly eh But I think it's very important the others just a hoax at C.. which has been going on for years? And it's frankly it's disgraceful but And macelroy why was was seemingly a priority for trump. This year this week well I think Donald Trump has a funny relationship with devils on the face of it represents the very every international liberal elites that he most scorns the other thing is he likes. Event is someone who likes to be on the front foot in terms of international stage age. It's glitzy everyone else's here. It's a party right. So trump is present in Davos absent in Washington. What message do you think that sense of the world and to the Senate? Could it possibly impact the trial. I think the message that it sending is that he thinks that he keeps saying that impeachment is just something that's being cooked up against him by his enemies for years and continues with business as usual the that will through to the electorate. I think he's thinking how does does this look to people who catch me on the television. Do I look confident. Do I look my best. So you could argue that rather perversely. Devos's ended up as a positive to backdrop as sort of marketing opportunity for president. WHO's under more pressure at home? There's also this twitter quarrel that could play out in real life Gretchen Berg and Donald trump intrude. Greta fashion. She actually tracked to Davos no public transit there were speculations about a face off of sorts. Did we see anything like that. Play out today. Oh Oh yes. Greta van Burg versus Donald. Trump was definitely a theme of the day. I'm show and head out this evening. Swiss time it'll be the talk of all the Suarez. Well trump did not directly aggress Greta van Bergen a speech today but he did try to get out of that misery fest by focusing on America's economy today. I'm proud to clear that the United States is in the midst of an economic boom. The likes of which the world has never seen before we've regained leaned. Our stride rediscovered our spirit in reawakened powerful machinery of American Enterprise. America's thriving being America's flourishing. Yes America is winning again like never before so and the theme of this year's meeting is stakeholders colder for a cohesive and sustainable world considering this devos theme. Is it surprising that President Trump gave a thirty minute speech and did not mention climate change. I think from Donald. Oh trump's perspective. Climate change is a subject where he doesn't feel particularly engaged or interested in it what he wants to talk about. which is the kind of boom mentality? I thought the tone was very interesting. I think he was trying to sound like the grownup in the room. He Sang. Follow me on this. Let the doomsters get on with climate change over there in the other room and not to say that. He didn't address the environment at all. He spoke about a one trillion trees initiative initiative that the. US has now joining and soon after his speech was then Greta tune Burg's turn to speak and she seemed to respond directly to this one trillion trees announcement clunking. She's is good of course but it's nowhere near enough of what is needed and it cannot replace real mitigation and re wilding wilding nature. And how did the room react to Timberg speech. It's quite interesting that she often says one thing that you feel. Everyone's nodding along with and then she says something else and you can see browse. How's four rowing rewarding? Really do we have to have that. Is What is the mitigation. But if you say did she get the respect of the room and was packed to the rafters as it would be for for. Angela Merkel. Absolutely this is a very great thickest event it is the World Economic Forum it's not the World Economic Forum road I mean there is an inherent tension there. AH IN DAVOS I mean. It's not a typical conference. World leaders and celebrities are ferried in by private jets. But the people who go they say the goal is to improve the state of the world and yet they're they're behaving unsustainably. So what is the point of all of this. I think the question you're driving me towards is does Davos man or woman person indeed to do more harm than good or the other way round and I think that they all having their consciences pricked even though they're doing so high altitude intensive at the life around this week at a pretty high level and mckelvy senior editor the Economist speaking with us from Davos. She Jose weekly podcast called. The economists asks WCHS am thanks very much. Thanks for having me for years. The international community has been playing hot potato with so called climate refugees. For starters the concept concept does not exist in international law but a United Nations ruling. This month could change things. Essentially this is a landmark decision and it does constitute a very air real amount of progress within this very narrow legal space that has always had challenges. Kelly Ober manages the climate displacement program at Refugees International. We reach out and Kito Ecuador where she's attending the Global Forum on Migration and development she says the case the UN ruled on concerns a man from a Pacific island nation who's has been seeking refuge in New Zealand. So there is a man from Cuba's that sought refuge in New Zealand. Actually in two thousand thirteen and it was one of the first of its kind where I'm an application for asylum was filed due to reasons of climate change and so basically his argument was this that he was from Kiribati and living in Carrabba's his whole life and he's only recently begun to notice that sea level rises continuing to be a problem so his argument is that it's very hard hard to live on Carrabba's it exists and climate change is making it harder so this panel is a human rights panel. What exactly did they rule? Oh so basically. New Zealand ruled initially that his application for asylum should be denied. Bear reasoning was pretty concrete. It was is that although he had a legitimate case in worry about climate change that impacts to the degree with which he was arguing would not be seen for another ten to fifteen years and the government of Curabaz is doing all it can to mitigate those impacts the UN Human Rights Committee which released this ruling agreed lead in upheld museums decision but they added some texts that left room for maneuver for those who are seeking other types of protection text mechanisms for those who may be potentially displaced by climate change. So with this kind of nebulous definition of what a refugee is right now given giving climate change. What is the implication for countries that might experience people coming to their cities seeking refugee status? Well you know at the moment. There's no clear answer. I think what this decision does is allow the very real realm of possibilities to open up for a legal pathways ways in which lawyers would be able to argue that those who live in places that are adversely affected to climate change to such a degree. That they can't move back should be able to stay. I mean my mind goes to a powerful moment at A. UN Climate Conference a few years ago. The poet from the Marshall Islands. Kathy jet no kitchener read this poem onto a daughter. No one's drowning baby. No one's moving. No one's losing their homeland. No one's becoming.

"The chicken with Christy. We're working on for CUOMO. Primetime Chris is very interesting that we saw the oath taken can today by McConnell and I think ninety nine of the senator's office is still to be done next week. But it's already off to shake the start you can't really trust crossed the oath this guy that you interviewed we've seen out there with matthaeus interview. He's got credibility issues. There's no question about that but you can't ignore what he says there. There are documents that back it up. He should be tested at trial. And I don't see how the Senate gets around all the information that they must ignore or if they don't have witnesses. Yeah we'll they're going to do. Chris did that about eight minutes from seen a couple of minutes. One senator's response to a simple question from our Monterey. Ju finds are spot on ridiculous tonight time now for the ridiculous and tonight Senator Martha mcsally sadly Sali's onto the list. She's a Republican from Arizona. Who on the day? The president trump went on trial for among other things his contempt for the constitution and the rule of law revealed Horgan time don't for professionalism. One of democracy's core tenants free and professional press. Just doing its job in the halls of Congress this is what happened when our CNN colleague entourage who dared to ask the senators very straightforward and very simple question considered part of. You're not a liberal hack. That's what Senator Mc Sally called Mono now for the record heard entourage who is not just incredibly fair and responsible journalist. He also happens to be a really good human being and very nice person. He's incredibly plate. Eight asking public officials questions that they often do not want to be asked but you know what their public officials. That's part of their job. And by the way the question in that he asked wasn't exactly what Sarah Palin used to like to call a Gotcha question which weren't actually Gotcha cartoons at all. Should the Senate consider new evidence as part of the impeachment trial. Wow if you can't answer that question maybe you shouldn't have been elected to the Senate. Oh Sorry Martha mcsally actually wasn't elected to the Senate. She actually tried to get elected but she lost. I forgot that she lost actually actually to a Democrat. She only has the privilege of walking the halls of the Senate and calling others a hack because she was appointed to the job by the governor of Arizona to fill all the seat left vacant when John. Kyle who'd been temporarily temporarily filling the seat of the late Senator John McCain retired now. I didn't know much about MC Sally Ali because our record in the Senate is pretty thin it turns out MC sally is a veteran of the air force and has a really honorable an impressive record of service and she was a trailblazer in the military. Actually sued the Defense Department while serving so that female service members didn't have to wear headscarves off base when off base in Saudi Arabia. She may be pretending to be tough on the media now or hate the median now but when she wanted attention for her lawsuit she seemed to have no problem popping. Up in CBS's sixty minutes. I was eighteen years ago for persons. Become a desperate politician. That's a lifetime. She also didn't seem to dislike the media when Elle magazine which is not exactly the daily caller profiles her back in two thousand and sixteen that was when she was portraying herself as a a political moderated and according to wikipedia pragmatic conservative. Elle magazine says she quote seeks to engage in rational discussion based on mutually agreed facts. Well well based on the mutually agreed fact of her slur against Maharaja today. I think it's fair to say the mkx sal days of engaging in rational discussion or over see because what what her calling Manoa liberal hack is really about is her running scared and attempting to reinvent herself as a foot soldier. That's what this is about. She's up for reelection election. She now actually has to earn her Senate seat the one she was appointed to and she's running against former astronaut mark. Kelly is going to be a tough election. She's desperate to say or or do anything to stay in power. That's what this is about back. In Two thousand sixteen. She was running for Congress. She didn't endorse trump. She probably doesn't WanNa talk about that now but she didn't endorse trump in fact she actually spoke out against trump when the access. Hollywood tape came out. METALLICA's been public about sexual abuse that she says. She suffered from coach when she was in high school. She's incredibly incredibly brave about that back. Then she said trump's comments are disgusting. Joking about sexual assault is unacceptable. I'm appalled sure. She was running for reelection. Action is a congresswoman then in a swing districts maybe it was political calculation but it was at least politically a tough call but once trump won she ran for Senate in two thousand eighteen for Jeff Flake seat. "I don't know Oh that the truth is out. No thank God yes. There was a big day for us. I thank God every day. I was worried that he's not gonNA come. I thought they were going to shut me up. Make me look like the scapegoat and try. Blame me for stuff that I wasn't on but with God's help and great legal team to have besides me we we were able to get the information out and now it's out there so I welcome him to say that even more every time he says they'll show another picture he's lying he's lying. Your turney in a tweet had said that there were two times in which you gave the message of a quid pro quo to Ukrainian officials. What were those two times? I I think they would probably will be more than two times but There was so the I quit. Co Pro game is when we met with President Pro Shaneco That was president for former president per SHANECO. Because what was your message to poor Shaneco. Persian was that if he would Make the announcement that he would do he would get Trump would either invite them to the White House or a statement for him but basically we start supporting him for president. That was the first quid. Pro Quo. Portion can come to the White House or get a meeting with trump if he announces an investigation. Or what was the next one and you have to understand because this was a transition time he was Alinsky just one he was president elect And he the most the number one thing and their agenda was not even the transition. It was to get inauguration because it was a big thing he was the show the American American backing of the new the new of because he had no strength with Giuliani cancels his visit Because there's a lot of bad publicity about in the United States. He cancelled his visit. You go have the a meeting with a high level official in Dolinsky Circle. And what's the message you deliver Basically told them very strict and very starring that Several things things a that He needed to make those Alinsky and the into immediately make announcement literally that night to or tomorrow that within the next twenty four hours that they're oh opening up an investigation on Biden at that point was there any mention of withholding aid. Yeah it was Well if they didn't make the announcement basically there would be the relationship not just was no specific military. There was no eight that was GONNA be assisted. There was gonNA be no inauguration. Pence wouldn't be at the inauguration and they would be no visit to the White House there would be basically they will have no communication so how you told the top official in designing ski inner circle that that if they did not announce an investigation of the Biden's immediately and get rid of some folks around Lansky who they believed were opposed to president trump. That there wouldn't be any aid and vice. President Pence would not even come to the inauguration. And what happened. What did they say I called Rudy? You told them that. I don't think it's GonNa there's going to be an announcement and he said okay. They'll see they'll see see and what happened. The next day I got called and said that they got a call from them basically so they found out that pence is not going to be there they guy got cancelled he said that there was a scheduling problem or something the day after you deliver that message throw quote very another thirty was a Monday the thirteenth And then After that like I think on the the sixteenth or two fifty remember the exact dates They had because they were flipping out what to do. They want to be embarrassed. They didn't know if anybody always gonNA show You know but they knew pencils. Incoming trump wasn't coming. How did you have the authority to say the vice president? United States will not attend the inauguration inauguration. If you don't do what I say I mean. That's what I was told to though. Who told you to do that? Giuliani this letter. That that you gave due to the House the first line which is a letter from Rudy. Giuliani to president-elect landscape says I am private counsel to President Donald J trump just to be precise I represent him as a citizen not as president of the United States. This is quite common under American law duties and privileges of a president and private citizen or not the same so he he is making a very clear point that he's not representing the interests of the United States Writ Large American national security he's representing the interest of Donald J trump. That was always the point that was that was always made clear. He always made it clear that he doesn't represent wherever we went. He said I don't represent the government. I represent the president of the United States. So anything rudy. Giuliani wanted the government of Ukraine. To do that. That wasn't official. US policy that was a personal benefit to the president. United States. Well you know when when I was doing it I thought it was all in the same but obviously not what was I could see with the situation the way it is I mean it was strictly for him but again I thought he was the leader. He's the chief he's the president and it was all about twenty twenty to make sure he had Four years and I didn't but that's how. Oh you personally viewed it. This is about twenty twenty to help him get the next four years though is the way everybody viewed it. I mean there was that was the most important thing is for. Oh him to stay on for another four years and keep the fight going. I mean there's no other reason for doing it. Did the president care about corruption in Ukraine. You'd have to ask him. But as far as I know are are the only thing we care about. The we were we were the team was toge- Alinsky or Shaneco or somebody to make the press release announcement into the Biden investigation in terms of who knew about what you were doing. In Ukraine device president pence no of course because his office said he was unaware of you know that he had met with his Alinsky after. Not Going to the inauguration but he wasn't delivering a message of a quid pro quo look again like I said. I'm not here to debate. I'm here to get the truth out. I got my records. I'd and how do you know that the vice president would have known what Giuliani was up to you because we would speak every day. I knew everything that was going on. I mean after Rudy would speak with the president or who who come from the White House. I was the first person he briefed. I mean we had a relationship. We were that close. I mean I mean we were together for morning tonight. I mean he took me I mean interview he would do. I would be sitting over there while he was doing the interviews. I mean Giuliani knew everything. You were doing everything you think. You're saying vice president pence new. Well no if my vice president the everything we're doing out I'm sure he knew he was. Of course he knew everybody knew everybody that was close to trump. No the that this was a thorn in the side. And this was a serious situation Bolton Bolton Albany Mulvaney Bolton Alton agreed with it I think good there's certain people that agreed with then agree with the. He called it a drug deal. According to the hill I think Bolton is a very important witness because because I think between me and Bolton we could fit in all the dots I think because I was on the ground there and he was over here. I mean you'd be willing to testify. I would be very willing to testify a few moments ago. You heard president trump. Say that he didn't know Parnis Vice. President Pence says the same telling reporters code. I don't know the guy pens. Also said it was quote completely false that he was aware that dirtying up. Joe Biden was the goal of the pressure on Ukraine. We reached out for comment from Rudy Giuliani and got no response. However he did say this about about his former associate lab porn is associated? Press quoting. Now I feel sorry for him. I thought he was an honorable man. "He should run for president if he has a disagreement foreign policy could yeah sure he'd do very well do he's doing about as well as Swale. Well does he goes get anybody anybody idiots up with zero and then they put him right back on the network even Fox puts them on which is really a disgrace but they they he goes right back on the networks and they start talking talking to them like he's a great expert he got zero. That means you got no votes. That's almost impossible. Yeah someone wrote me in once for President Mister press votes than swath all voting day. What you would beat in my book? Many many many of the people currently running. I'll take you any day. I'd like the just shift gears quickly and I don't want to monopolize your time here. But on the economy your records been outstanding. We've seen middle income growth. The middle class in other words for liberals having a tough time with this for their economic conspiracy theories middle class income growth is surged far surpassed Obama the data's clear. GDP growth is far surpassed Obama Obama Obama median. middle-income is up five thousand dollars in just three years of your presidency. It was only up one thousand dollars after eight years of Obama and the failed recovery. So my the question is this. Given Twenty twenty around the corner is there another tax cut in the offing. Or are we looking at that. And where do you stand on capital gains indexing. I know there's been some back and forth on that we get back the house. We're going to do a very big middle of what we already done. One very big. We did pass the largest tax cut in the history of the country. Bigger than Ronald Reagan's tax cut. But if we get back to the house we have to have the house otherwise. You can't get anything through Pelosi for one thing. She doesn't work she wasn't doing anything she can't and even the US MCA. Bill passed okay and every Democrat and wants it the Democrats the Republicans. It's on her desk for three months and she hasn't done anything on it. You can't get that she's too. She's too interested in impeachment. Although she looks very bad right now I was GONNA say before. She was very angry when she read my phone call. She was given false information nations when she started this whole impeachment thing and she's not happy about it right now because she's getting hammered. The economy is doing phenomenally. Well we're going two and that's despite the fact that we have a Federal Reserve. Don't forget that has interest rates that are too high and Obama had zero interest rates. So we're much. He was nine seventy five for eight years. We're at five thousand but when you add the tax benefit is two thousand five hundred and then you add the regulation benefit because I've got more rid of more regulations than any president in history by far even if they were there for eight years or in one case more. Now we've got more than any other president when you add. Yeah that's another two thousand now so we're actually around ten thousand dollars. As opposed to nine hundred seventy five or ten thousand is for two and a half years a little more than two and a if years. That's a big difference at four hundred dollars for eight years is is there any chance of resurrecting indexing capital gains the inflation wasted tax. Well a lot of people like indexing and it's a short term boost but it makes life very very complicated for more people you have to go out and get appraisers every time you do something every time you bring a lot of people do like it a lot of Republicans like it It is a complex flex process for people. It's very difficult at something we're looking at. It's a tremendous initial boost I mean I could. I could do something I think that would be pretty amazing with but I wanna do I wanna do the right thing. We are looking at it as a possibility. It has a tremendous assets and it's got some liabilities. Dan Understood Mr President you eliminated the disastrous individual mandate for obamacare which was excellent any talk after twenty twenty any this hopefully successful reelect of eliminating the other provisions of Obamacare community rating guaranteed issue maybe replacing them with more market friendly solutions health savings accounts income support for low income folks. They're still unfortunately some remnants of obamacare. What we've done by getting rid of the individual mandate that's why you pay not to have insurance and you pay a lot of money for the privilege of not having to over pay for insurance it's a very It was the worst provisions and Obamacare. It was totally unconstitutional. But it escaped that you know it escaped it and one of those things but we got rid of the most important aspect of obamacare and frankly if John McCain raised his hand obamacare would begun what we have done in that. Very famous vote after campaigning. For eight years to get rid of Obamacare remember repeal and replace was his campaign I'm paying and then when he finally had the chance to repeal and replace at two o'clock in the morning he says thumbs down but that's okay it may work out just as well because we got rid of We got rid of the individual mandate which is such a big deal. It's a big. It's really the essence of Obamacare. And then we've done and something. I had a choice. Run it really well and do that knowing that some of the benefits are numerous to Obama. And that's the right thing to do or run it really badly sadly and how people go crazy about how bad obamacare is and secretary as our and Seema and all people over there have done an unbelievable job of running it and we've made it okay. We've made it acceptable. It's horrible by the way but we've made it very acceptable. Sometimes you'll hear people say it's not bad and that's because of getting rid of the individual mandate somebody said call it trumpcare fix it up a little bit more but what we're GONNA do is because we've really done a good job of management of it. It's a disaster but what we're GONNA do is if we get the house back. We are going to have a much better version of obamacare that's cheaper and You know just a much better version but also much less expensive Mr President at him. Obviously I wished the best of health on everybody in our court system. You've you've successfully flipped the Third Third Circuit Court with your last appointment. You've done a great job at conservative judge. If there were another supreme court opening and again I don't mean this any kind of macab type away to come up in present itself you stick to your original list. You've had success with Cavanaugh. Gorsuch who've really proved their worth so far is that original list still apply well number number one. I hope everyone is in great shape on the court. We want them all to live very long powerful lives. You understand that because of my answer the question without putting that in the fake news will oh absolutely me you understand everybody happy and healthy on the court but I will stick to the list. One hundred percent final question Mr President you have made a concerted push admirably so for the black vote some place place. The GOP is traditionally drastically the and sadly underperformed for decades. I believe you're making a lot of headway. We've seen down in Florida. For Instance Governor Desanta so I know you supported me as well disclosure he. He's a made a big push for school. Choice did remarkably well amongst black female voters who obviously had an interest in this issue. What else do you have anything else plan for? A- any further initiatives to recruit the black vote and and do some outreach into the community we've traditionally done pretty poorly with well. I think I've done more for the African African American vote maybe than any other president in history Criminal Justice Reform. That was me nobody else. They couldn't get it. Obama couldn't get it. Bush couldn't couldn't get nobody could get it. And I got criminal justice reform and I have conservatives and liberals in that deal. That was very bipartisan. And got it done. Nobody could get it. Nobody else would have been able to get it done Dan. Honestly I mean that was not easy but we got criminal advance. Jones celebrated you for that one. That was a shocker. We had a lot the people celebrating. That would not normally and two weeks later they'll say we must replace our president Cetera et Cetera but nevertheless I had you know tremendous support on both sides and and we had some dissension also but tremendous support and that was really it mostly affects the African American community. I mean the biggest beneficiaries. And they're very happy about it. The other thing we've done with Tim Scott and some others is opportunity zones. It's the hottest thing there is in real estate practically. It's incredible how well so you're GONNA see that. Millions of dollars is being put into locations. That would not be invested in at all locations that were abandoned. And you'll see what's going going to Detroit and all over the country we have. Thousands of opportunities owns two big thing and a lot of money in that part of that is because the economy is so good. We have the best economy. Probably that we've ever had in history so if it's all about the economy stupid You know they call them bets. Let's you know. I guess that was Clinton quote. It's all about the economy on stupid. I guess I have to win because we have the best economy that we've ever had in the history of our country and the other thing is you know is unemployment numbers for For Black Hispanic Asian but the unemployment numbers for the African Americans are. It's the best ever in history. By far far. We have the lowest unemployment in history. We have the best employment numbers in history for African Americans. So I don't know what I'm on the debate stage and I rattle title those three things off I would say that You know I just don't know how you get beaten. I think we're doing really well. With African American. We have tremendous support even even Kanye West like us and Jim Brown and So many people he vander Holyfield and Herschel Walker. I mean we have so many people and so many people that you don't know so many people that you know the criminal justice reform. Dan was a very big thing. I think it really people really. It opened up there is is like Alice Johnson. She was in jail for twenty two years. Four you know she did something bad But it was not that kind of I think actually another twenty years to serve and She's a phenomenal woman. And there are many people like that in prison right now but she was in there for twenty two years for making a telephone call and drugs were involved but you know it was really disproportionate so many people like that but it helps the African American as you know. It helps the African American community far more so than any other community and Hispanic community to and getting criminal. Justice Reform Pass was a very big thing so I think people appreciate it Mr President. Thank you so much for your time. It's really been an honor to have you on the Dan Bongino deeply appreciated. She added Dan.
