"At and i know that i don't again you know i always the policy of you know i think it's bruce i'm i'm gonna enjoy it. I only know every lyric to both songs. You know it's about. I guess in amongst the rest of it which i think is quite a new. Look at what it's talking about life. I i think there's some beautiful lyricism that work. In power of prayer. I think that the vulnerability in bruce's voice at the end of the house of thousand gives pause on never heard from him. But you know an and been rainmaker. I guess is like you know insofar as probably anti-trump song and it sounds a little bit like it's maybe outtake from wrecking ball the arena. That's pre trump. I guess that's kind of a hint of the album that he very easily could have made like the protest album. Which i'm i think i'm really glad he didn't. Because at this point what difference would it have made and you know. I don't think another sort of anti-trump diatribe is what anybody needs at this stage because people kind of you know the divisions i mean you you in the sites definitely conflict with far more awareness and i can but the division that's taken place over there has definitely into all the countries in. It's definitely president australia. And i think at various points people are so so kind of batten. Down with Are on on on him and what he stands for in everything that i just. Don't think that album would have made any difference. And bruce notice that you know. He said like in the most boring album in the world. Had he done that. So you know i mean i think rainmaker kind of gives you like rainmaker. I think it's you know. I think the the fact that it makes the point set of doing one everybody's doing and saying all trump supporters You know excellent wines it saying sometimes people just need to believe in something so bad that they turn to turn which is what has happened. Essentially and i think that's that's a new perspective on it but but then you definitely was went off the right make when you get into that fun will with the album where you know. It's just just absolute a great song after great song. Like if i was if i were the priest amazing Obviously spoken about before song for oftens. I love song for offense like one. I think it was unlocked by the documentary formula when he talks about it and the fact that it comes with the album. You realize that it's it's kind of these disown written at the very start of his career about realizing that this is my moment and this is my time and i'm about to claim that's and you're to put that song at the end of this album. That in many ways summation oil. I think is a really clever move because you know you sort of by bringing back to those early even like pre greeting songs in a way that of votes the casteel without actually being casteel songs was an incredibly savvy choice in it enriches the album and it creates this almost full circle. Feeling that i think is so effective and so powerful and then ending on us up see in my dreams which i guess answers the question that is also beautifully. Bhai one minute. You're here whereas at the end i and the the the similar to go but i think almost in a more moving and more nuanced way. The way he says like the kind of you know the cracking his voice he sings de death is not the end but conviction and the belief of him being like no. This is my statements. I'll see you in my dreams. You'll be i mean..

"Of the Memo, a terrific book that everyone should pick up 20 years inside the deep state fighting for America. First rich, Welcome to the Charlie Cook Show. Hey, Charlie. Thanks for having it so rich, the kind of the phrase deep state is thrown around a lot. What is it? How deep is it and some people say doesn't exist. Please build it out for us. I think five years ago, people would've said it doesn't exist. I think people now are beginning to understand. It's it's very real, and it's the UN elected government, Basically right, it's you. The chairman of the drink, seizures staff pushing back against the president. It can be Judge Sullivan keeping General Flynn dragging him through a month for three or four years. Now, these people that the we the people didn't elect we didn't put into power, yet they exercised tremendous amount of authority over us. So how did this happen? How did the deep state get staffed? Created on DH just kind of be speea specific as you can, because ah lot of people are either unwilling or unable to see the full picture. Well, I think you have to go back a number of years that there's some of it is just sort of normal had been flow of governance, right. Any bureaucracy doesn't stay. And so there's ah natural. Inclination in these institutions that have tremendous resource in tremendous amount authority. No, I mean the Defense Department alone's been $700 billion a year. No, most people can't even comprehend that type of money and Yes, it is. Ah, ah, natural sort of belief that takes root that you can do what you need to do. And you know, you respond to the people over. You know what's happened? Sickly in the past. Really 30 40 years. But it really came to the forefront during the Obama administration is that Craven opportunists like Hillary Clinton got themselves into positions where they were able to put their own networks inside of these institutions and then wield power within the institutional bureaucracy through corruption, graft, political pressure, blackmail, etcetera, and so much of what President Trump has been doing for the past couple years. Been battling this residual corruption. So you write about this in the book? The memo tell us a little bit about the book and it says, read the actual memo that caused a firestorm inside the White House and around the world. What is the memo? Well back in back in 2016 had been one of the counterterrorism adviser for the Trump campaign and then near certain so We simply knew early in the campaign that you know we weren't colluding with Russia. I mean, I was just ridiculous clearly was Hillary Clinton's political which shocked us was that After November 8th. The operation seemed to intensify and, you know, I had worked in the Pentagon for a number of years in the black operations world where we would do things like what we were seeing happened to President Elect Trump and then President Trump. We would do things like this to Saddam Hussein, for example, where we would leak his transcripts or leaked the transcripts of his generals plotting against him, and we see with President Trump they were leaking his phone calls to the president. Mexico is phone calls and President Australia and so we said, Well, what's really happening here? Well, several of the National Security Council saw what was going on in the new movie Output is the president collaborates on this? We began looking at okay, what's really going on here and in an effort to one president and then some of the people I've met around campaign, some of your friends right on junior and others wrote a memo that basically laid out what I thought was the scope of what was happening out at the time. I was I was operating with, you know, a very finite amount of knowledge and wrote it. Not knowing that you know what we know. Now there was a cross fire hurricane who are all these operations they were spying on president they were trying to subvert sabotage him and General McMaster wasn't a big fan of that. And he you know, he moved to have me removed and it created a little bit of a fire strong in the summer of 2017. So there's a lot I want to unpack their C. I remember when this memo kind of came Tio light, and I remember the backlash and I remember people talking about it. Has anything improved. I think a lot of improved. I mean, I think the president putting in John McEntee in particular. It's a huge upgrade. I love Johnny. He is absolutely 1000%. And I think the president will have only met with the president a couple of times over the years. The president understands much more fully now. The nature of the fight he was walking into, right. I mean, it was Difficult for a businessman who even though he knew maybe he was going to have to learn a few things that manage the government. You're never expecting anything like this. Right? There was no historical precedent. You know, Lincoln had to sneak into Washington D. C because he came here to stop the spread of slavery to the new state's right. President. Trump probably should've stuck in Washington D. C Because you know he had been elected. I think to stop these leftists revolutionary drift in the country, and that was the unspoken Pinpoints of modern right. It was this counter revolutionary movement that that he was now that the leader ofthe and I think he thought these institutions were perhaps what we think of the citadels of the West. Great. You never think of FBI. Someplace where leftism exists. Right? Or the CIA is a leftist entity. But today we see they are yes. Why do sweetie Republicans in Congress refused to acknowledge and recognize this Um, you know, I think there's a couple of things there. I think number one is from..

And by the way, doesn't he look great Mr Producer? Terrific. On his best day by Can't look like Trump. Let's take a Listen. Go ahead. I just left Walter Reed Medical Center, and it's really something very special. The doctors, the nurses, the first responders. And I learned so much about current virus and one thing that's for certain. Don't let it dominate. You. Don't be afraid of it. You're gonna beat it. We have the best medical equipment. We have the best medicines all developed recently and you're gonna beat it. I went. I didn't feel so good. And two days ago, I could have left two days ago two days ago. I felt great, like better than I have in a long time, I said just recently. Better than 20 years ago. Don't let it dominate. Don't let it take over your lives. Don't let that happen. We're the greatest country in the world. We're going back back to work going to be out front as your leader. I had to do that. I knew there's danger to it, but I had to do it. I stood out front I lead Nobody. That's a leader would not do what I did, and I know there's a risk. There's a danger but that's OK. And now I'm better. And maybe I'm immune. I don't know. But don't let it dominate yur lives. Get out there. Be careful. We have the best medicines in the world. And they're all happened very shortly, and they're all getting approved. And the vaccines air coming momentarily. Thank you very much. And Walter Reed. What a group of people Thank you very much. That's a leader. That's the leader. He wants you to be careful, and you should be. Particularly if you're elderly, particularly if you have a morbidity overweight if heart disease, asthma, diabetes, you know who you are. You need to be careful about the flow to And so be careful. You can live your life and be careful. And that's all. He's the twist his words They spin his words They project all kinds of nastiness on top of this man, and yet Donald Trump has done more to wrestle this virus. And Joe Biden every could do and that the Democrats in the House and the Senate, whatever D'oh Not once. Did you hear them come to a microphone, Not once. And say We're in this together. On this issue we're going to work with the president will try and figure out what you never heard them say that. Never Never Because that's not who they are all weekend long all weekend long. Oh, my God. If you only watch CNN and MSNBC, I mean You're dealing with an UN reality that is so horrific and I have to say Ah. No, I better not Mr Big News. I'll get in trouble again. You know what I'm saying? We can't do that. Can't do that here. Now. I want to get the poles. Polls. Polls, polls are all over the map. It is a good new Psych. See if I can find the name. National patriot. Is that the name of Mr Producing trying to find it? The national pulse? This is a great news site. I want to encourage you to take a look at the national pulse and I'll circle back because people been using it all day. Today without attribution, I'm sure so. First I want to give you a pole from October 18. 2016 October 18 yellow 2016 And it's CBS. Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by 14 points nationally. That's what it says. Whole. Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by 14 points nationally October 18 2016 CBS News DOTCOM Think they were wrong. Folks. I don't know with poles, right? Which is wrong, It doesn't matter. They don't decide the election. You decide the election. I always say fight like you're behind. Whether it's sports, whether it's the military, especially whether it's politics fight like you're behind. And if you're not that maybe a win a landslide. We're going to need a landslide because of all the cheating that's going to go on. So None of this matters. It's worth looking at. So after that we have Biden's national lead over Trump jumps. The 14 points have to debate. It's identical really, to the other one. I just read to you. In today's October 5th. Joe Biden's national lead of a President Donald Trump nearly doubled after Tuesday's presidential debate with voters by 2 to 1 margin that Biden has the better temperament to be president, according to New NBC News Wall Street Journal poll in I don't know who they're pulling, but Wine is like a beached flounder flapping around and he stares into the The TV camera with his hands out shaking. I don't know that kind of looked scary to me like he was a zombie or something. Maybe it's just me. But why should this even affect the voter? When you know it's on the line when you know liberty versus tyrannies on the line when you know your livelihood in your lifestyle, and that of your Children and grandchildren is on the line. They could both stand up there and stand on their heads. It wouldn't matter to me. What it to you, Mr Producer. I already know how about it, But Okay, now, that's 14 points, right? Then we go to John Zogby strategies and he's no friend of Trump's. Brother's a cook. May I say that? I think I will. Former vice president Joe Biden was leading President Trump by only two points 49 to 47% zombies. July A pole had found that Biden was leading Trump by seven points. The August Pol said that Biden was leading Trump by six. Now, it says by two and they surveyed 1006 likely voters across the nation. Game style it would be awesome but instead they just ride on the middle of a busy street through red lights up and really we're not on how like their neighborhoods were talking about like down rats street which is like the the big tourist like downtown Baltimore on a harbor tourist voice no chase so they can't do high speed chases they can't cheese these kids obviously correct for anybody but I mean we're talking hordes like in it looks organized and then the other will do wheelies never seen one of those dudes on two wheels once you there's a documentary that was out about it and one of the ladies that one the MOMS of one of the twelve o'clock boy she was a dog clinic that John You know that with the charity the other thing is we is and they raise a lot of conflict in the city there's people that are very uncomfortable by this and they don't those are the people I have a huge problem with what do you guys think squeegee boy what do you think squeegee boy is Well this is just my brain but I I was invited winning people like squishing titties like is that a service is that a service that's provided ultima like do we switch the titties are we pull up the lights on we squish cities last sweetie boys are young kids anywhere from lake seven up to Lake twenty-something fanned at Red Lights and he come out with a squeegee the Anna bottle of windex and clean your windshield you guys have squeegees there you probably coats with like like if you go to a gas station to fill up your car you're is there like a something you can clean your windows with their yeah we call it squeegees but I don't think there's an actual term for the people that do it okay we'll see I don't think there's a term for him anywhere else we have squeegee boys and here's the thing a lot of people don't live in Baltimore they come to work because this is the so we have people that moved to Pennsylvania so that they can be lower whatever property you know raids at night they still commute so Baltimore and they're very uncomfortable by these kids that WANNA cleaning you're ducking for money when they do it these kids are making four hundred dollars a day some of them like there's articles about it and for the most part there's a couple of on in particular so many times and I don't know how many times one of them shredded number in my phone and I said you know I'm old enough to be your mom I was like Nah I will not be your grandma some people are really uncomfortable by it and I just think that has a too much it's it's too much culture all at once coming at them sometimes I had deacons nigger little heart on my windshield with this weekend Marion cash around the conversation businessman like or respect the hustle but then I was like sorry I don't have any cash and they'll talk to you or whatever but some people are there's like begging for money and meeting the we shouldn't have panhandlers and like you could just be a human being late NAM good thanks it also it also portrays the fact that there's no other option in some cases right so you have like even on a biggest sense you have called Katie saying I want clean stats I wanted this done right and then as soon as he feels the pressure and he doesn't take money from the schools he has the squeeze up money out of the police budget but he still expecting crime to go down right well that goes down to ca carry just being too ambitious hey hey hey hey hey Aidan Gillen is my secret man today the money everything would have been better for the city by was just his pride getting in the way it's politics because he wanted to move up and if you if you take money you WanNa fight people say you don't exist and sometimes I wish that was the case but I'm responsible for fake opening yes actually amy amy is responsible 'cause I I always tell her to hey you know this is going on on twitter especially and you know we're having good conversations I wanna keep him onboard even though we've established he's not allowed on twitter but yes I did tell him that you invented it because with the videos I keep saying we and you're not in it so that's where it started sir amy's going to start for your reference and we're going to we're going to uncover the truth even the why they kept saying Oh yeah this is he doesn't fucking exist that's why you can't have any otake in the WII or reference time because our police answers makes so much overtime there was one recently arrested for assault and he made like two hundred thousand dollars last year with overtime please it really cops to overtime yes so though though work so much overtime that they're making the salary of late to politicians was he heard insurance not necessarily like finger quotes working but they write down that they worked they you know well if they have to do a stadium game or something like that they make so much money for working stadium game back to the stadium so I mean I'm not talking shit about the cops but mismanagement here I'm not gonNA talk shoot about ops I don't complain about not having money and having to work in the city were these people need money when he got I don't know that doesn't does that not seem a little bit ridiculous regular people I mean 'cause I think aqap salaries anywhere start it starts at like thirty five forty thousand Euros like seventy five right but they didn't tell you we're GONNA make two hundred thousand dollars a year when he started he likes at that level if that's if that's so you wanted this shouldn't have been the job for you if you wanted to actually help people you're in the job now she has that job and you don't want to help people and he'd rather just like games assistant for more money that's Kinda on you and like not cool yeah yogurt you're in the wrong place essentially if you WANNA be making money you should be someone nothing there are some jobs where yeah you can turn it in like you can go there and do a job and it's fine but there are some jobs where you have to elite care like police or you know nurses and there are some jobs like I started a spreadsheet for eight hours and listen to podcasts and that's how I get paid the but there are some red sheets goals Katie's out sorry I said you have excellent spreadsheet scales eight finding your spreadsheet Oh thank you and it skills with Zet at the ends because I've got street cred I don't I don't usually have that much detail in regards episode plans but the wire is is it just means so much to me and it's I know it sounds so wanker because you guys are from Baltimore you like who the fuck is this President Australia talking about the wise but I do like I really I love the Sherve so much and I'm so glad that we're here and we're talking about it and you guys are even giving you know so much more data l. like even what's going on now and how that connects to the show as well yeah I think that it's a testament to the rating I mean it's you know I keep going wasn't done right they would they would hurt about it right like for me I was automatically interested when I'm like oh it's a show that's being filmed here that's about it here which is a different because like how cars was filmed here and.
Venezuela in crisis
"Venezuela is a country in freefall as economic mismanagement an international sanctions. Combine to create desperately difficult times for its citizens as global debate centers, on who's to blame successive, socialist governments or countries like the US, who are putting the squeeze on the government of nNcholas Maduro, people are struggling for basics like food and medicine. US correspondent Zoe Daniel has recently returned from Venezuela as gentlest Venezuela is not an easy country to work in media vases, difficult to get and even with them in hand report is closely monitored by the authorities and government backed armed groups called collective owes rooms need to be checked for bugs sensitive interviews must be discussed in hushed tons movements should not be telegraphed and should never happen after dark time spent in each location needs to be limited violent crime is also close to the w-. I in the world and much of the story that needs to be told is in the slums, or barrios, where poverty hunger and disparition exacerbates that risk. There are also the gangs who trade in drugs, and ruled the roost in recent months, escalating political tensions have added the risk of protest rallies, turning violent clashes between opposition activists and government troops and proxies, all of this means that the stories of ordinary Venezuelans are infrequently told but when you give them the chance this sentiments a clear. Something by women and men young and old have to realize the critical situation, the country, is going through these days, hunger, misery, repression and unemployment. We spent a week in the slums of Caracas and surrounds talking to people about life and politics. Well, I. Research says that nine out of ten people in Venezuela, count afford enough food, because of hyperinflation, which is rented the local currency almost valueless government food parcels that handed out monthly a dwindling. Sometimes now, they come only every second or third month, and they're often missing case applies like milk. There's widespread frustration and people are starting to voice it. Even with the risk of recriminations, Ropeway sediment Settimio, nothing seems to improve it all gets worse. So I think they should be change to give the opportunity for someone else to rule the situation has created a window of opportunity for opposition later. One guy who was backed by the US, and ustralia among dozens of other countries when he declared himself president after twenty eighteen elections that are widely condemned as flawed, although you get the sense that it's a case of right place. Right. Time rather than one guy DOE, having specifically captured the public imagination ROY Innis weather. It's not just a problem for Venezuela, what the international community has done so far is very important. The recognition of our constitution and of me as interim president Australia did that to what's important. Now is to keep the pressure up the dictatorship won't voluntarily leave. And fortunately them enduro government wouldn't respond to the concerns raised by those who can't get enough food or medicine at a time when political division globally runs deep Venezuela's, plied attracts, at a response almost all of the Venezuelans that I've encountered blame the economic collapse, on mismanagement by successive governments who've nationalized, assets, subsidized goods and services failed to manage the country's oil revenues and allowed endemic, cronyism and corruption. They don't always mention soc. Realism specifically many still harked back formerly to the days of logistics, under, former president Hugo Chavez. But for many observers Venezuela's become a symbol of the broader failure of the socialist model, that's gained particular traction as lift and right retreat to their corners, the world over. However, defenders of socialism, attack outside nations for interfering in Venezuela, particularly the United States, which is imposed harsh sanctions and an embargo on oil Russia, China and Cuba continue to back the Madero administration. And that's a K driver of US involvement. The big picture issues, but for ordinary Venezuelans who've seen they country go from the richest in Latin America to a basket case they just want something to change, so they can feed their families, but from Caracas that's North American correspondent, Zoe Daniel.

Tick tock on Twitter power by more than twenty seven hundred journalists and analysts say more than one hundred twenty countries in San Francisco, I'm Ed Baxter. This is Bloomberg. Bryan, sir. All right. Thanks very much. Ed, our guest is Douglas Borthwick from macro intelligence. Douglas, the case for bearishness on the euro seems fairly strong yet. It seems to be stuck now right around a dollar thirteen. Now. What's supporting it? Well to be fair. I think that the case for euros has been going on for at least the last ten years certainly since the Greek crisis people's talk to the yield differential being one of the most important ones. But also, they skulk by weakness. It could be Italy. It could be Greece. Country. I think one of the interesting things that sort of keeping it up is actually where China's trading and dollar China. I think is going to be very very important when it comes down to the trade discussions. In fact, the White House when they came out and talked about it on Friday talked about how tech transfers important piece important and where the currency's going. I think it's very likely we see some sort of important statements regarding the dollar China's not going to weaken significantly. And so you'd seen appreciation of I just started going lower, the Chinese currency appreciating going forward that if that's the case, and the dollar is selling off relative to China that means the dollar has to sell off relative to Europe and relative to the yen. See see a lower dollar-yen in the back of higher euro. But the euro also sort of sitting there around these levels around this one twelve ninety level on the back of folks being really anxious, by Brexit while breakfast, certainly affects Britain, it's also going to affect Europe. And there's things ID there. Now one thing that was very interesting last week is that ECB's been our came out. And he talked about how you know what we could end up doing a little bit more TI T LT TR rose, which essentially the lending more money. Just in case. There's further downturn in the European economy. I think that's rather than putting that gives some sort of support to the euro. But I think the most important one is the fact that the Chinese may be sitting on top dollar China at the Chinese are selling dollars dollar China. That means that the they'd be buying years on the back end as well. I think. Allude to this just now, but people often talk about the damage, the Brexit will do to Britain itself in Britain's cutting it so knows despite its face. But what is the damage that could be done to Europe as well. Because many people out there saying that this is being really underestimated. I think it is being underestimated Europe's one of Europe's larger trade partners is the UK the UK does a tremendous amount of business with them. Which is why I think may sits there all the time saying, you know, what they're gonna come to the table one last time and give us a chance. That's obviously not happening that way back when Brexit was passed. I remember talk. I was on Kathleen show. Kathleen, hey show, and I talked about the fact that I think what's going to happen is the UK economy, or as strategy is going to be to make this look so absolutely miserable. That at some point there's going to be a demand for a second referendum now that everyone's more educated on what exactly this means, what Brexit means. And I think we've seen lots of trial balloons about second referendums coming up. You'll see a cabinet minister mentioned here, or there are you'll see discussion of it here there. But certainly may never talk about it. But I think that that's where we're going to come to is going to be a second referendum at some point. Because now folks are educated they're not seeing that the the lies centrally. Pushed out for the Brexit vote in the first place. Another people are educated. I think they will end up just not happening at all. And it'd be a complete waste of time for the last two years. Let's pop in a quick question here on the president and on China before we wrap, and basically it's does the president want to deal on China. But keep the wall for the next election. So he has something to appeal to the base on he can say, look, I fix China. And I'll I'll build a wall in my next term. Well, I think building a wall of the national emergency is going to be a lot more a lot more simple than negotiating with China when it comes onto the structural ownership of Chinese companies. So I think the wall is something that he needs to be show each Bill. The show is based that you know, what we've got a lot against us river battling against the Democrats. But we're getting it done fifty miles at a time. I think that's something. He's getting to show the base of the base of turnaround and say, you're thrown away, this idea of a wall. And you're you're not doing it at all. He's showing.

BBC news. Thanks very much. You're listening to the newsroom from the BBC World Service with all of Conway, the state of the union address by the US president to congress is one of the most prestigious events in the Washington political calendar Donald Trump's second state of the union had been shattered for next Tuesday. But in the past hour, he's taken to Twitter to announce it will only happen when the partial government shutdown which is lasted more than a month is over. He also suggests he's in. No hurry to give way anytime soon on the shutdown itself tweeting he look forward to having a great address in the near future follows a row with the Democrats. Let's go live to Washington. Our correspondent there Chris Berklee? Chris I will take us through the background this standoff between President Trump and the speaker of the house of representatives Nancy Pelosi. Yeah, it's traditional for the leader of the speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi on whoever takes her place in previous administrations to basically. I invite the president alone delivery state of the union speech. And indeed if you take a look at the letters that have been exchanged between them, they are very polite in their language, particularly if you take a look at some of the tweets, we see from President Trump high ever, there is a great deal of anger and frustration buried in these wards put it simply Nancy Pelosi initially invited President Trump to come under deliver the speech. She then revoked withdrew that invitation. And Donald Trump has been saying that he still wants to come under liberal the speech. She said again, no, I'm not going to accept that. You are simply not welcome. And this is all about the partial government shutdown that is continuing was because of a fight about this demand by Donald Trump for five billion dollars to build a border wall with Mexico. It is a funding. Roy that has left a number of government departments with money. It has left hundreds of thousands of federal workers not knowing when they will next get paid. And as a result Muncie. Pelosi says you're going to have to wait a lot shall dawn is over. And it seems. The President Trump is prepared to accept that. He says he will wait until the shutdown is over because he wants to liver the speech inside, congress, your why has he changed his mind because any a few hours ago we were thinking that he would look perhaps from alternative venue. Yeah. His argument is that new venue could compete with the history tradition unimportance of congress, but I would bat on I don't think this is too much for bat. Frankly, President Trump is not too happy in order to have been seeing to join in this battle as far as he's concerned he wants to give that address, but he's going to wear. It. Nancy Pelosi, however has been digging bucket and more ready suggesting that she hopes by saying that he wants to live in the near future. That means that this shutdown will be over sometimes center, but I guess that by conceding this point to the Democrats will be even more determined to win over his border wall. Yeah. On the border wall is at the center of this. This might be a government shutdown. This might be affecting hundreds of thousands of people. But as far as Donald Trump is concerned, the border wall is something he promised to those who supported him in the election. And it's something that he intends to deliver Democrats there were sticking their feet in as well. It gives you a sense that'll Lou they're both talking about what will happen after the shutdown. The new one's quite sure how we get through the Shelton. Chris many thanks Chris Butler that live from Washington staying in the US capitol and more trouble for Mr. Trump this time from his former lawyer Michael Karen is accused the president of threatening him and his family and his spurning his testimony to congress as a result. In a statement from Mr. Cohen's lawyer, he said he was putting the safety of his family. I this was the reaction from President Trump. He's been threatened by the truth. He's only been threatened by the truth and. He doesn't want to do that probably from me or other abyss lives. So what frets has the president made? If any ask Donald America reporter, Anthony circa. What they're looking at what they're citing. As an example of Donald Trump's threats are tweet and comments. He made talking about how Michael Collins father in law should be investigated as father in law had pled guilty to tax evasion back in the nineties, but Donald Trump didn't go into any other specifics beyond just and in fact, didn't even name the father-in-law just said he should watch out Rudy Giuliani. The president's personal council is also cited in this. Yes. And and Giuliani has called Michael Cohen, a liar said that he's doing anything he can to lessen his jail sentence has suggested he should testify before congress. These are all examples of of what Michael Cohen and his lawyers are citing as pressure being put on Michael Cohen for him not to testify fully before congress, and that has really angered members of congress, including Elijah Cummings who. Who is the chair of the house committee investigating this? And he has threatened to subpoena. Michael Cohen at some point to forcefully bring him before congress to testify if he doesn't do so willingly. Although he hasn't made a firm decision on that yet. Now the word they're using. Here's postponing this testimony in congress. Do you think it will eventually go ahead? That's a good question. I because Michael Cohen is still cooperating with the special counsel investigation into Russian election meddling and any kind of involvement from the Trump campaign and that. There are questions about how much Michael Cohen would actually say during this congressional testimony. Now, I think they still want to get him before congress is going to be going to prison for a three year prison term in early March that will make it more difficult to call him before congress. So while I think they want to get him in front of congress. I think that is going to become increasingly difficult, and it may never happen in Washington. After nearly six years in power.
