"Like all those things you mentioned with pop just interrupting her life after years and just like. They have like a say in everything she does. And like a then like she had a tumultuous relationship. Where they broke up and the guy ended up just wanting to give the these really personal details about their sex life and what she likes in bed, and then her entire sex life is exploited and it was just like her entire life being controlled by her family and like she has a very abusive alcoholic father and like a very abusive mom there screaming all the time and like. They're taking advantage of her and putting her in these situations and it was just her whole entire life from literally childhood till now has been literally controlled by other people to the point where her father has complete and total control over her finances. Her life choices, her purchases anything that Britney Spears does her father has control over and he's an abusive guy who puts her in terrible situations. But even before all that like now, people are really talking about the conservative ship and you know trying to get her her life back. You know the whole free Britney things like really coming back again but nobody really talks about how bad it was for her with the media and what the media did to her like the way pres- Hilton like would write these horrible scathing things and you know she had this performance. At the VM as the Gimme more performance and it's this is after she go ahead I was gonna say it was probably just a lot of people feeling guilty because they played into in one at all of that stuff so bad and now they're like Oh. That was horrible. He did actually say Pres- Hilton was like looking back at it. Now it's a wonder she's alive what she went through like she had two kids and. She's not her peak shave had two kids and she did a performance where she still has fucking apps like she's still looks great. But then after her performance, which was not a great performance, it's all about how you know she's a fat slob and. Oh who she's the ringleader that circus. Yeah. But that was Kale saying that to which breaks my heart because I love McKell. But like he's saying how like she like go? Who Do you think she was texting after he was like not a Dietitian not a psychiatrist saying how she's like fat compared to all the other girls and people call incur whale, and then the the media portraying her as like this very obese person in a wheelchair because she lost her foot due to diabetes like. What is insane and this wasn't that long ago that is just okay to openly mock and body shame somebody slut shame somebody because it was Britney. If it was anybody else I don't know if they would have gotten away with it for some reason with Britney. Spears. She was not human and the media does it over and over and over again successful women like when was the last time you saw that happen to a guy? You know what I mean like just in Brittany broke up. Justin, was praised Britney's a slut Brittany's a hor- Britney's like a cheating lying piece of shit which like nobody asked Brittany like what happened or why they broke up why is it okay that Justin Timberlake is. Sharing details about their sex life when she says I'm a virgin whether she lost her virginity to or not. If she's telling the public, she's a virgin who are you to say she's not like it's all just so fucked up but the thing that like really. Got To me that made me angry is I didn't have cable whenever the shaving her head thing went down. So I never thought I only ever Salt Lake, the tabloids and the stories and I always the way they presented it to me that I saw. was. Britney. Spears lost it, and shaved off her head in like a manic episode like her with the Buzzer and her hinders shaving her head. It looks it looks crazy. What happened was a woman who was tired of being Controlled and told a look a certain way and told like your this pop star, you have to have these extensions. You have to be blonde. You have to be whatever she wanted to take control of what she looked like and she told that she went to a salon. First of all, she was in a Harrison Salon manically shave her head. She went to get her hair done. She said. I want to shave my head just like lots of other women do she's not the first fucking woman to one a shaved head. You know what? I mean like it's just a fucking haircut she'd I'd like to shave my head tired of people touching me. I'm tired of getting my hair done. I'm tired of these extensions, these braids or too tight shave my head and the hair stylist said. I'm not going to be the person that shaved Britney Spears Spears his head I don't want that weight on me. Here's the clipper you do it. When you're done I'll clean it up for you. So she shaved her own head than the hairstylist cleaned up for her and she was like this is how I look now and then she went to a tattoo parlor. She got tattoos like she was clearly making a statement of rebellion and she said that and that's what's the most frustrating part is like. It was never a secret of like. What she was doing, it was always I'm taking control of my life I wanNA look I wanNA look I wanNA, shave my fucking head because that's the style I wanna wear right now, which is a perfectly presentable style if you want I'm getting tattoos and the way it was Shown is Britney Spears lost her head shaved her head off in a manic episode and that's not the story but it's just the way the media can take literally anything they want and completely twisted it and manipulate it, and then she wrote an open letter to us you know the world's and then also. To the media and she just explained everything that happened where she was like. I've been under control in like really abusive situations and you know I I kind of hit a breaking point because of. You know the friends I was around. She found out that her friends were you know secretly charging her stuff like she was paying for a lot of stuff. She didn't know she was paying for her parents put her in all these bad situations and she tried to be really open and honest about that and say like I'm a human being and I've I want to live a normal life and it feels like the media just will not let me live a normal life they make up lies about me every day they take everything I do out of context I'm always the bad guy I'm always an insane person. And then they edit her letter down the media outlets to take out all that stuff and again, just make her look like a crazy person. And it's been literally. How long now it ninety, what eight, ninety, nine that she got super famous for twenty years and she still has not had like justice for the way that she's been treated. Do you remember the umbrella situation? She I don't know what happened with the car, but like I think. They. Somehow box Taran or like they were high-speed. Chasing her in a situation where she couldn't I don't really know the situation of how we got here but she got out of the car and. Started hitting the car with an umbrella and damaged one of the Paparazzi car because they wouldn't leave her alone and like you hear her assistant say like, please leave just her alone and then she.

"I love tiny europeans in in asia about texting all my gosh because there's such a different flavors in it. I mean even just the terminology at all like what chris reason and i had this time period where i like dating british guys i love the fact that they were just the terminology often like ticked text message versus semes- for some reason made a big difference and instead of flirting with him in person a lot of times not always they would flirt after they met you via text message read so there's the there is these little differences that were like okay that's but that's still flirting okay yeah and then ceiling doing because when i moved to vietnam such crappy phone not because of vietnam because there was a broken english student in the water and it was text message it was pre mobile pre smartphone but i don't know i am everything big differences there but i feel like developments with technology. It happened really really fast in asia. I think why wasn't i wasn't in asia at the time as with anywhere like cut us never number flip phones like a big deal and all of a sudden there. What was your first phone my. I i think it was probably one of those really simple nokia's and then i kind of upgraded to those flip phone than it was like they'll slider slider phones that were really popular. I never had a spider with with the sliders blackberries now. There were many pallets that sliders like where a your keyboard is like hidden under your phone if you slide it back oh those were especially made for texting because it's kind of feels like many little keyboard. Oh i would have loved that. I think i think overseas with the nokia brick the one that you could throw against everything. They supposedly brought them back last steer but i haven't sake yeah but now smartphones are su- popular here that i haven't even looked because i'm just like it's almost like the. I don't even know what to call it. If you flip open like this and then it looks like a tablet but it's a little smaller forget. The terminology of it looks pretty cool though it is not as clergy italian one. It's very very new but i want to say walkway has went out right now but i cannot remember what they're calling that kind of phone <hes> because it's just it's like screen and screen and you just flip it up and down or you can just use it when it's closed just the top. It's really cool. I guarantee you. I will not get. I five versions of it just because it'll be expensive but really cool bebe seriously okay. Oh sorry so we're in the chat rooms and then really get a scratch your brain all the stuff up in china chow more a mechanism to kind of engage your friends and see what they're up to. Although i do in a really popular website back then is kind of like especially especially like at my life and on the little blurbs of people talking about things like a really funny that went on and and we'll always be like you know my life because this thing happened and i don't know why was so popular then but it was like a big thing among teenagers because i guess when you get home and you just read about the different things that went wrong with other people's lives. You somehow feel better better about yours policy behind it. I i would have read that. I probably would have bret that early. Twenty s to yeah like you know it'd be like the found things happened but then it would also be like really funny and they would be really sure like one blurb would only be three or four seasons. Oh aw i saw me too but yeah. It was just those things that you can kind of loose chocolates. Hi you're flipping thorough <hes> yeah question. The reason i'm thinking of my pres- hilton moment is his blog for a while and i'm like why am i doing this. Why am i doing this something an hour later. I'm like all cut up. And why do i need to know this. Oh my gosh okay so to move to east..

"Is he in a feud with his dad so many unanswered matching really crazy on that was a physical altercation like months ago, Google okay, but it wasn't answered on the show. No. But how about the shower shot? I saw like that. You see some marrying brand Manley Roman a but but fuzzy but both row. No. Did you see that stuff? I just I don't love the risque parts. Yeah. I wish it was like classy. Oh, like Heidi in the bathtub. Oh, brandon. Like I just keep a classy, we've been jumping around on this. So I feel like there's a little fragmented, which makes sense because that's come with this podcast is. But here's the one thing that I couldn't help notice when they started going to your brother, and Heidi a lot. Why do they have the one glasses that can fit an entire bottle of wine in them? They have to hold them like their T torches, and they're going down to the catacombs. They're so big. Why do you guys has a giant wine glasses? They drink every day, though. I fully noticed that and thought she had a harder time holding what he did, and then, like governor started crying, and she put down the wine. And, and he is like, I'm gonna drink your wine. She's like me really mad. And I'm like, how much what is in this how, how who what appeared to be fulltime assistance? Make your hair. They had one set. Assistant, one said gunners sums instant and one hundred a nanny and her makeup artists. Okay. Look like they had Lauda of. always there. Yeah. It's their friends. Glenn crazy rally is their godfather. So got a cool crew? I think also Perez Hilton is the gun is God found out during the series and that says everything about these two regional by the way, in the tease the next episode where pres- Hilton and me shook it into it res- Hilton, literally does what he does on his website in real life, where he somehow spins it to be an attack on him and not on me. And he's the godfather. I mean, it's just life sake. It's crazy. But whatever. Also you. You asked you asked earlier like in early episodes, if I would be able to tell you who the star of the show is. So I'm gonna tell you because I thought about it. Governor no, the star or the stars of the show is adrenal Justin Bobby God, I kind of agree. Oh for sure. One hundred per se, shedding out that your rounded, like adrenal is going to narrate the show. Really well at the beginning of the series, it's her talking, and I feel like maybe she had been doing it and they changed the format. The I, I think she was set to be the narrator. She definitely the star. She gets the open seen, right? And then you get the second scene, which is great. I have never looked at it like this. Yeah, I liked your kind of like here I am. Oh, I watch TV. I watch reality TV, like that, too, because you can tell who is important by how how they're lining everything up. You think for sure? I mean it's like it's like a cake you layer it in the way that you want people to before people, check out. You know, leave the show they wanna make sure they get you in the important thing..

"Innovation leadership. That's more recently. But I have to tell you the story. So I started this podcast in two thousand five and I was in San Francisco, and I was driving, and I was just still learning everything about sex, because I came into it like all I knew was like sex could be a lot better than it is. I think and I just started interview. Appeal about sex and relationships. So you happen to be NPR, and I believe you being interviewed about why we love. And I remember I pulled off the road. I grabbed a piece of paper that I just started. I was like, so blown away because I had never heard about the three types of love, I was just it was so new to me to learn about lust and an attachment and craving and all those things and I was just I think I still have the piece of paper because I don't throw anything away. But then I just got all your books. I started reading about you, and just I was like, you know, and then just we've heard really I mean, I mean you're, you really are pioneer. Everyone just all my friends. I can't believe you're talking. Thank you for taking the time. You and we had a good time if you years ago. At the moment, we were both at a match because I know you do such amazing work for match dot com or your adviser for them. And we were speaking in an event, it was a very interesting panel it was Helen and myself and Patti Stanger the matchmaker and pres- Hilton, and the flavors were talking about the, the match panel. And then afterwards we, we were just talking. I dismember feeling like we were both women who chose not to have kids, absolutely no. Never wanna do. No. And you're okay with that. You're I'm not only okay was it? But, you know, I see young women today and I, I always say to them, at least I was never disappointed that I didn't have them. In other words, a lot of women are worried that they don't want to have them, but they are frayed that down the road, they're going to get disappointed. Now it's just me, but I, I mean, I've had two men in my life, who had children, who I helped to raise, but they were already in their teens. I love teenagers. I love to be with teenagers. I mean, I love being the other woman, you know, I don't have to worry that they're not wearing socks or that they're not studying hard enough. I don't want anybody killing themselves, but it's fun to be not the mother and be sort of an older person who can give you give some advice or listen to them. So many times they say, don't tell my father and I don't tell their father, I'm building a different kind of relationship with them. And, you know, I mean, I'm an apologist is, you know, and for millions of years, you know, young people had all kinds of people. Could confide in. I mean, they lived in a little community a little hunting gathering group, and you had your mother, but you had aunts and uncles, and cousins, and older brothers and sisters, and younger people. And, you know, all kinds of people that you could talk to, and I like playing that role for the young for anybody. That's exactly it's exactly how I feel right now. Is it and now we're really missing that because I've three nieces. I all my friends kids caught my friends. Call me now. And I, I will not tell your mother, and I want never would like a great. It's like being the ant to it's the best relationship. I think that's so interesting what you're saying about it, and I would thinking that a lot lately, to how we move away from our communities and like it used to be..

"I read on the internet speaking in the hills pres- Hilton is reporting that Brody Jenner was fired from the hills. I didn't hear that. Until I read that. I saw a wo does that mean he wouldn't keep filming or I don't understand. That's crazy. I think you want to the story. I read said he wanted more money and MTV in the production company said, no. And he said, well, then I'm not filming more. And they said pub, I think was the post pretty funny ten and I'm sure his girlfriend is upset. I know she wanted to be all over the show. Yeah. Well, that is some hill scoop. That's for sure Peru. As were all, you can listen reservoir gas ob-, high caste one if you don't already. Yeah. I feel like presents getting all the scoop. He also says something I don't want to repeat because you have to watch the show to see. But all my gosh. It was about me shut. We won't go any further you need to to see that yet. Some scoop ri- drop right on Cameron's. Oh, okay. Yeah. So the hills is getting saucy. It's nice. See more than I anticipated. Yeah. And we have a ways to go. So it's going to be very interesting. How everything unfolds? Oh, yeah. People are going to start falling in different sides and lionesses and things and it's going to be very interesting. How comes together? But what else do we have fun planned? So yeah, we're going to work out tomorrow. I am. I don't know. If you are. I I we have this new thing where we bring Gunnar to the gym and Spencer, it's to watch him while I work out, and then I leave and then Spencer works out after so we don't do for three hours. It's. It's just I love a out in Jimmy's. But we've had a lot of fine wine nights, Spencer, Neier wine. Connoisseurs wine tasting every night for good Napa CR before is we would get mostly California wines. So we have just unlocked a new level of Somali a world because now we get a talion wines. We get French wines. We get Spanish wines. Somebody said we need to get. I guess we drink New Zealand the Y. Yeah. But we need to get some Chilean. I love all line. And I'm no longer drinking tequila, I've I have eliminated it from my list of things I do daddy was in full effect last night. But that's why I don't drink to kill. There's just no way to pace it because you don't know how keep ordering skinny Margaritas but over four hours of like a dinner meeting. It doesn't feel like they'll hit right when I got in bed. Really hit hit like free trade. Bye. Thank you love spending..

"Is ridiculous. Focus on your podcast, which just I think they relaunched the magic hour out. It's called magic hour or poly around the world. Brooklyn to the world, whatever the fuck, it is probably for sure just keep one fucking title Bali and Brian daily. So so he has his podcast going on which the put in funding behind. He's the best most cultural commentator in the sport. Why throw this in its very when they told me this, I'll share this. And when they told him, they say, what do you think I went I don't get it? Now if policies fire and wants to fight, I guess, I guess I don't get it. I think it devalues what he's doing. But what if if you're starting your podcast, and you want to get attention to your podcast that could be one way to do it. Yeah. Or what I would do with paulie, which is what fuck in Hardy's doing, Dan hardy and who's his colleague? John John something. Yeah. Look at. But so if you want the best breakdown of exit was it they said John legends. I go he's doing with him. Now. That's fantastic. So John good in Dan hardy, if you want to break down, I think it's on the platform if you want to breakdown of Xs and os before big main event, there is no one better that does more homework who's been in their knows the game. Then Dan hardy and John when they do these breakdowns. There's it's balls deep. It's very it's very calculated. It's very detailed. But there's no one breaks the main event down better than those to the by far the best in biz named someone boxing. Who does that taking would layman terms and build the hype? I'm not talking about a hype I'm a high. Boy, I'm you know, I'm saying I'm not giving you the nose can I out to Dan Hardee's, no way, not even close not what they're doing. I'm more like pres- Hilton the boxing MMA, you know, what I'm saying. Like I like to drama. So if you want. Xs and os, Dan hardy, and John what they do is amazing. Paulie can be that for boxing boxing. Does not have that name of Boston podcast you into all wait. They all suck dick because there's no personalities. No one's doing it to allow those guys are in TV didn't come over to the podcast and world. There's Boston podcasts out there. Nowhere near what it could be Polly could be the face of that policy in hear this. I'm not hating on. I love Paul. That's why I'm saying this place of of good intention and from my heart. I love Polly fighting in bare knuckle boxing is not the answer. Polly. Let me ask something. What's the best case scenario here? Polly fights, Artem not some out. Paulie euro, you were professional boxer world champion. Okay. So you're not that Artem arms, not a boxer arms of mixed. Martial artists who got cut from the release from the UFC. You're not you're not finding common Gregor. You're not fighting a Darren till you're not fighting Francis. In ghana. A real striker striker if you're fighting the now, okay might be a level playing field you're fighting Artem so he's not world champion. I think that what's the biggest upside here. Polly. How many people are going to watch this? How did you watch bareknuckle boxing? I'm not hate on bare knuckle boxing. I think it's great what they're doing. Okay. Cool. But for a guy like Polly. I don't see any pros here. What's the cons? Well, what's the cons? It distracts you from the longevity. What you're doing as far as commentating? You the best. There is folks on that you take the game over your podcast. There's no box and podcasts out there. You'd be the face of boxing comes podcasting. And trust me brother, you make way more money doing that than you ever make bare knuckle, boxing, if you became the champion of bare knuckle boxing, and you're the reigning champion for ten years. I promise you if you had a successful podcast. It'd be you'd make more money doing that trust me on that. So there's that the other con- is what's what happens if you lose?.

I mean, he did. But also, I loved it. He's just like this. I don't know. I don't love it. Actually, it's terrible. But a bright this man who is like gotten so rich off of exploiting. Women credited women who are very willing to be exploited. It was a give and take situation. Right. And then it was like, they know it too. They know yet you got to kiss the ring. Yeah. They know exactly. They know where their bread's buttered. They know what they need to do. So you have to put on the bandaged dress. You have to go to the a star is born themed baby shower for Andy Cohen, you have to dance table of arena asks you to dance table. You must also notably. I feel like more notable. Maybe was the people missing about any Frankel interesting. No countess. And then he reposted a mean that was like the face when you see that Bethany and Luan weren't at the at the thing. Yeah. It was just something about like her missing it interest, and like alluding to something shady, but then her caption was just like sorry to have missed it, Andy, which doesn't tell us anything. No. That's just. That's just confusing messaging. She doesn't said she was like, I'm rehearsing for my cavalry. You are ma'am. Okay. Not. There is not enough rehearsal in the world to I also just don't think it'd be a healthy environment for her. So doesn't sound like it. No. If again, if Lisa arenas screaming at a bunch of middle aged women to dance a table because Andy Cohen paid for their lives. You'll also just wild to see all of them in one place. That sounds that sounds the most fucked up that sounds like some sort of like horrible hall of mirrors like Disneyland. Like, if Bravo had a theme park that called sir sore if sir how to back room that was just a corral, just like whoever they could find at that time to just go there, and you could go there and party with them that seems a fun for about three minutes before your ears. Your brain starts leak out of yours. And you'd have to say goodbye to my brain liquefied. I would feel very nervous in there. I would drink one drink very quickly. I'm be like, I must go, and I would leave. There was also an incredible picture of Andy with all of the housewives the only other guy in the fixtures. John mayer. Also, it should be. It was. "Pres- Hilton good to see you again, my friends who have been here because it's almost like me doing my podcast because you remind me so much of my co host. I think you know, I'm Chris Booker. So we don't record together. He does it in his place. And I do it in my place. It's nice to see people. It's it's easier to be in the room. God I used to try to love line with Dr drew when he'd be on the road, and it was always difficult because there's sort of body language. The do. I almost feel like if we were in the same room. It would it would diminish our energy a little bit because we disagree so much. Do your you got some takes on our Kelly heaven heart and maroon five and even more stuff and even more stuff. So let's just talk about some of that stuff. All right. Let's start with our Kelly. All right. What is going on with him? I mean. The tallorder of an answer. It's it's really amazing the power that art can have effect change and not just change people's hearts and minds. But also now after this TV show multi-part docu series only now are thirties in both Georgia and Illinois investigating and talking to the alleged victims. But hello. Everybody's known for a long time. I think the issue is kind of how the legal system works. He's been able to buy his way out of jail over and over again because he would pay off his accusers denied it. This whole time. He continues to not only that his lawyers very aggressive lawyer who is trashing everybody. I mean last night lady Gaga sent out this statement, basically apologizing for having worked with him and saying that she was going to take off their duet from all streaming platforms. And then today are Kelly's lawyer says Gaga just did that to help her chances at the Oscars while all Allah and didn't he get served a search warrant or something for harassing one of the alleged victim? He got served a search warrant, but yeah, they were searching house or something. I thought oh, maybe I got that. Maybe I heard about the the manager of our Kelly not the lawyer. I heard the manager was her. Harassing one of the fathers of the alleged victims sending threats so many years ago. There was the whole thing with him urinating on like an under town. There was a cave. Right. And as we talked about earlier in the show, if you think it's a good idea to have sex with someone in vegetative state chances. Are you will do it again and have done it before? Like, if you think it's a good idea to take a whiz on a fourteen year old then by the way, which I have done, but I was fourteen. Oh, apocalyptic morning so much craziness going on in California and the world, really. So. Yep. We're okay. Anyone? I'm wondering about our fires. They're not here, but they are Malveaux. So we're praying for everybody out there. Be safe topics. Crazy fire looks crazy dot is our first morning here. Crazy today. Take a breath. Heidi take red. Okay, great. We had Spencer's mom go to dinner with us earlier today, which was really fun. Oh, we had our Pratt. Doughty party. Tell about the Pratt. Daddy party. I would like you to talk 'cause I feeling in one minute you're going to get up and run. And then it's going to be meet as talking to myself. So I like to hear hear your voice for a minute on this podcast because I'd be like, I'm taking my throat is describing a you running downstairs to gutters. Rescue. No barking in the studio. We had Pratt daddy party, which was really fun at worked did everything Spencer wanted to avenue hotspot in Hollywood, we had all the most amazing influencers. They're beautiful models. Celebrities. I mean, it was all the Hollywood parties dream of everyone more Pratt. Daddy crystals. We decide doing open bar, which was a last minute decision. But then we thought well, you might as well to spend that extra money because we've already put so much into it, and everyone will really enjoy themselves so much more. If there's an open bar. No one's bringing cash. So I was having a majoring Ziobro. You cannot have a private party of an have people pull out cash or credit card for their fricking drinks. We had abbey here at nine thirty to try to do the podcast an hour ago. But then I've had a lot. Of complications. So we're supposed to do this earlier. So I could be more involved. But it is what it is. So the the product party was great. We had money man there. He was great. I had to leave before money man, performed is supposed to go on around eight thirty nine I thought so I'd be able to see him and then at ten o'clock, all right gunner, and I have both been sick. And I need to get home and put under died. So I had to race out the door, and I didn't get to see him. But what I saw on Instagram. It was great everyone was loving their daddy crystals. We have of their the wizard which was so much fun. The hills was filming it. So we had the cast members there which was great because I don't think they would have been there if we weren't filming. So yes, we got more celebrity cameos, we add pres- Hilton there. We have a lot of people there. Michael at senior through it, a senior entertainment hottest entertainment tau group. All the right words, all the right things like a day hashtag machine. Yeah. But the most important thing reason people listen to podcasts as to hear about Heidi sleep turn. What's the update Heidi? Oh, lord. I dunno guttering. I've been so sick. It's been challenging. So I called the sleep consultant because I was thinking that he needs to start learning to sleep on his own because I don't want to breastfeed much longer and spend thirteen months going on fourteen months here. And I haven't wanted to do it past January. So I don't know I need to figure out how to get him to sleep on his own. And I can't sleep with him. In a crib is just I mean without him in a crib. It's impossible and either don't know how much longer I can survive like this. So. Nez gonna get a sleep consultant. And I think I will. But I just I don't know. She's like you have to put him in his crib, and let them kinda cry and self soothe and I was like, oh, yeah. Theoretically that sounds great. And then I don't know if I can do it so trying to figure out another way in my head. So I'm only gonna feed him is my plan in my mind in the mornings and the night, and I'm going to stop feeding him in the day and let him roll himself to sleep. And if he doesn't take a nap he doesn't take an app, and I just need to stop feeding him to sleep per.

I mean in many ways, it's like the worst. The worst of American culture is about and under swearing like. What did your Cuban family? Think about what you were doing all of the attention. You were getting well, I know that my family even back then was very proud of me for making something out of nothing even before there was a social media. I started before there was a YouTube before there was a Twitter before there was an Instagram. I started a well a year before there even was a TMZ. So in many ways, like I am the Latino dream back, then I was deluding myself into saying well Perez Hilton is just a character. Now at a time when we have the first quote reality, television president, it's illuminating to talk to someone who was instrumental in the rise of reality TV show stars and who in fact was part of establishing a kind of bullying rhetoric that's common now, not just in social media, but also in our politics. Oh, I'm so happy to him a fan of the show. It's truly a really special moment for me to be on this with you and to be able to hopefully inform enlighten your audience as to who I am enlighten. So pres- actually is a word that you would apply to yourself and to the work that you've done in the past in the past? I used to do things a lot differently than I do now. But yeah, I would use that word lightened. Even back then, even though I would say I was definitely diluted, but in my mind, I was saying, well, I'm just shining the light on celebrities behaving badly and those that get it. Right. Well, let's let's go back to the beginning. Sure. So you grew up in Miami, your mom and dad? Both of them were born in Cuba and I think that they left Cuba with like seriously, nothing. So tell us a little bit about how you remember your childhood in many ways. My childhood was the opposite of what it is now. Like I would say I was not a very active participant in my formative years because my parents were more than just fine allowing the TV to be my babysitter. So since as early as I can remember when I was young, that's all I would do is just watch television and I was like a zombie in front of that screen. My childhood, I would say was very traditional normal for Miami. And I would also say that it was not easy for me, not because of anything. My parents did, but just society is a whole, you know, I was born gay. I've known. I was gay since I could remember. And I grew up in a Latino community. I went to an all boys Jesuit school from sixth grade through twelfth grade, and back in the nineties people weren't out. And I remember vividly eleventh grade my theology teacher said something to us about homosexuality. She said, you know, studies say that one out of every ten is gay, and I'm like, wow, that's so progressive hurt or even knowledge that and then immediately after. Words, this teacher said, but chew. Boys are not like other boys. And not only was I struggling with being gay and in the closet. But I also grew up very fat. I would eat my rice and beans and steak me because EEO all of that and my mom's idea of us being healthy back then was giving me a salad of iceberg lettuce with tomatoes and Megan as that's what she thought was healthy. "So that was this week's DM. You want us to answer your question. You can direct message alley on Instagram or Email us at RTBF at one dot com. That's our TB at one dot com. And now onto our very fun conversation with Hillary Kurt. She's the co, founder of click brands, which includes three websites, celebrity fashion site who what wear dot com home to gore site, my domain dot com. That's domain with an e. If you're googling while listening and beauty site birdie dot com. She also hosts her own podcast called second life, which I was actually lucky enough to be on. Hillary started her career as a fashion writer, but we started our chat today by talking about how she and her co founder the amazing Kathryn powers met and started their own blog in two thousand six back blogging. Barely thing magazines were sharing to fold so l. girl folded a bunch of other magazines folded. So Catherine, trying to figure out what her next thing would be. And she came to me one day and said, I think we should start a website and it should be all of these things that we are looking at. So you know, serve this is also the moment of the rise of potsy. So we were going on Getty and wire image and looking at, you know, pres- Hilton and looking at us weekly at looking at all these of the moment photos, then you wouldn't see those photos in a fashion magazine until three months later because of the lag time in an how long it takes for publication to actually print. We thought, wouldn't it be cool if we had all of those of the moment photos that are in the tabloids, but none of the gossip and we just focused on the fashion and made it nobody was doing that. You know, by the way, vote dot com to exist l. dot com was basically just like a landing page for subscriptions. There was nothing. She said, I'm going to do all of the all do the art and teach myself Photoshop. You're the writer, you. Do all of the writing reporting. And I said, yeah. You should probably think about it. I said, no, I did. No, I I really want you to think about. I did, let's do it. And so from that day until our first story went live on October twenty third, two thousand six. I think it was like two months while we just put it all together and figure it out and went for it. But it was really something that was born out of our own desire and what we were kind of doing any. Joe sets the new we, we talk about a lot on the show and from our experience it's helpful that I know nothing about hair clearly alley news a little bit about business, but it's helped. So you had a job where you were getting paid, and then you guys decided to do this. I was freelancing. Yeah. So to do this on your own, like how do you make money from a site like this girl? I was so poor from social, longtime, so even make money. I mean, this is foreign, not in the beginning, but in the beginning we were trying. It was a new business model in so many ways. We, it was an old business model in the sense of we knew that at some point we could have advertisers and charged for advertising, but they're very unknown who's going to advertise on this unknown site, and no one was really doing digital advertising, much back in two thousand six, early two thousand seven, and certainly not the fashion industry. I mean, there were some people who came online very early Neta portray. I remember sent us an RFP which I had to Google what that was. We both did. So we tell people what is in case they don't know. R. p. was until couple of years ago either. It's a request for proposal, so it's basically someone saying we're interested in spending money with you. If we give you this money, what would you do? So we have to Google that and Gucci and Burberry and shop were all very much online playing in that space early, but we didn't. We were very, very broke for a very long time. I was freelancing still on the side. I was writing for l. and I did celebrity cover stories for maximum. So like Jessica Simpson's first interview after her divorce was me, I was. I was really excited about that was a huge deal. So I had my, you know, somewhat sporadic, but making allowing me to survive income from freelancing. But we were very, and I just, I think that's something that like entrepreneurs are always scared of leaving their job or doing something. We talked about that a lot, like there's so many different ways that you can earn extra money while you're starting in business, and there's just different ways you can do it. I also like to point out that I was privy. Alleged I didn't have school debt. I was young and didn't have a family. I didn't have medical. I didn't have to support my parents. I only have to pay for my rent and food, and that was pretty much it. I mean, had nothing holding me back and so I could operate not having much money because I wasn't dealing make all of these other things because I have been lucky enough of my family had supported me through college, and I was, you know, not coming out of a coming out with a low paying job in New York, but at least

"Whenever it pleases or whenever you know the world pleases has been huge for me being able to stay focused on my quote, unquote real world life, even though my online life is just as real world as the real world. But nothing that's happening in the digital world can interrupt any moment that I'm having with my family or with myself or or whatever it may be. I love that. And I think I'm the same way whenever it comes to my ringer and not having my phone on in that way. I don't sleep with my phone next to me. So someone's texting me in the middle of the night, I don't know. I won't know until the morning. Yeah. Whenever I look, I know whenever I have a moment to pause and like take in that information, and I find that because of that, I'm able to be more attentive. I'm able to give better responses. I'm also better able to filter whenever you have a ringer on your consistently being reactive to the noise or vibration or whatever it may be, but I can be super proactive about win. My attention is on my phone. And it's so funny because you used to leave your house to do things and people if they couldn't get a hold of you, they couldn't get a hold of you. They would leave a message that you wouldn't get until you're back home. So it's kind of like, what's the equivalent of that now? And I will say on the flip side of that being, you know your friend like I'm texting you now more than ever, but it's nice knowing, I think, because I know that you don't have your ringer or your alerts on that is not going to be distracting you from whatever you're doing that you'll get to it whenever you get to it, and it almost makes me feel like I can text you more knowing that it's not a distraction. Yeah, good. I'm glad to hear it because people are annoyed by like I've literally had people in my life, be annoyed that they can't easily get in touch with me, usually get my mom. I love her very much, but like moms just want to talk to you when they wanna talk to you for shore, and she's actually even sort of been trained to call David. Like if she really needs my gosh, my family as seeing they call Jeremy if they need me. Yeah, because she knows I want to answer my phone. I have. People be appalled by that. I don't care. I just don't from what about you, Kathleen. So one of the first time I felt the need to establish digital boundaries was around online gossip. So I was a huge fan of those. Like just Jared websites, there's a couple of other. I can't even remember the names of them, but like, oh, pres- Hilton was one of them yet. Like just those online celebrity gossip and even gossip magazines. I used to love those, but obviously those are print, but the digital version of those I was kind of a fan of, and then I remember is at the very first is I inner vaca- and my friend, Meghan Gilder, who has a blog called fresh exchange. She was like, oh, I saw you on insert name of very popular heater website that I won't mention the name of. She was like, oh, I saw you on that website. You had like thirteen pages dedicated to how much people hate you and I was devastated. It was the first time I'd. Even like really heard of this website. I didn't really know what it was. I went back to my hotel room and already. Oh, I mean Jeremy read it, and I just I felt sick about it. I felt really misunderstood. I felt really sad. I was totally affected and bummed out by it. And that's whenever though I realized like, oh, wow, if I didn't even know about this my life right now, it'd be so much better..
