"So she's still early days and managing to get through and i feel like meagerly might have a bit too much for her but marita herself came through In almost three hour long match against anna callen sky so again like battling three need of the probably particularly fresh therefore going going into that much a migori. There was actually three down in that law. Set against guy who's walled called herself. So that's that's going to be. An interesting could be cut three set possibly three hour. Long also okapi whitewash. She nays ivan. But yeah really intriguing. Matchup that be coming later on today. And we've also got. Sarah rebates tumor another spaniard. Going really well. She's had again a breakout season. Be calling with e. She won her first high to recently. She's had wins. This week over jennifer brady elena rubber keita so beating those players are rent above her. She's she's had One of the best kind of win records onto this season so she be looking to To to get another kind of big win on in in the fourth round stay. Yeah that's going to be a very. I think very tough one for surrey. Best on people at that win against kenan very very high quality match. That was her first top ten win since doha. In two thousand and twenty. So that's that's going to be a very tough offer. Saribas told me. I think is one of those plays absolutely grafter and she feels that she tends to win matches in the prettiest way at three sets and the normally go over two hours. Plus i think that could be a real. I feel that much could be a real streetfight. In terms of the matches we have left. I think that could very much go to a that. Could be another epic. I think on the cards. Your and that's the first time she. She's beaten severe. and in. Because i i feel like kenan and always seemed to me. Slabs and tournaments and kenan. Yeah so you fall. Had number on cpo obviously rectifying that and kenan of paying have often having surgery the start the app on our way back in sonora a complete surprise either But yeah sars rivas told me. I think something like eleven of her loss fourteen matches or something have been like three set to match matches. Say she is. She's very fair. It's i have to give the death of of the women feel that the chef of out of always plays three batches cadaver. Get it done a very easy like straight-sets three and three situation but Yeah i'll be interested to see how that goes came talking about players who are of the players numbers we spoke about which rube love we had the we had another We had a third meeting in in very recent weeks between brisk caroliina and jessica peculiar push. Did a little bit better. This time. She she got a set of peculiar but it was still the same outcome. But yeah pushing about. Must be sick and tired of seeing jessica dealer and hardcore yet. Padilla's continuing excellent ron inform. She's she reached the fourth round. And she's going to be facing maria sakari so again. I think you could see that. One twenty nine kim kim but it's it's bad. Wait have a patient over in twenty four days. So that's you know less than a month. So she's space playing out a weekly basis. Let me rephrase that. How is carlene appreciative of the sixth seat. I mean she's having absolutely absolutely rotten season. You feel you feel like just on the performances. Elaine maybe the sasha biden coaching set-up his working whether something needs to change that. But yeah. I don't want to be on the of this too much because we've talked about it. I think at length recently on another ketchups but yeah piss give it needs to needs to society. She needs to select amount because she's not reaching anywhere near the levels. We've seen apply in previous seasons. She's probably just blaming it on the fact that she plays peculiar george. She's winning these tournaments. I wish pushback did like a sort of i. Just don't wanna play you anymore. Quila the yeah. Yeah i think she would just be. Did they situations like you know how that what she gets. Grand slam draw and you can push giver is going to be west just beginning west jessica. Gala had women who writes at the bottom of the drawer. Joe we've got namias. Soccer against elise merton say mentions another of these players. He's had a really solid season and getting to the latter stages and soccer. Yeah we just happened to say for which. I kind of put on my predictions this way. It was going to happen as point. And that's why wasn't predicting us ought to win the title. I had mertens t to upset. As because i'm really intrigued. See how this one's gonna guy who later came just cut. I don't see that happening. I just think. I just think mertens is so. I actually think mertens is the talking about kind of the best defensive type of players on the tour. I think occupies fatally selena was the number one in that respect. I think maybe law season phil mertens soden thunder little bit at the start of this season. And she is the the best defensive guy. But i just don't think you can beat the best in the world with like a defensive first game and i didn't think i've seen enough of her fat to convince me that she's got other weapons in the locker. The and i dating. She's going to have any weapons in locker to to defeat nightmare soccer. I could be completely wrong. But i just think when she comes up against these ultra aggressive players more often than not that can be able to find a way to get through a player who i think south more on kind of variety and getting back and putting it in awkward areas. Skying more in there. Perhaps asarco will be rustic she. She didn't play hello surround because her with with three. Say we shall say about. I think you're right joe. I just want to like jazz. Let my predictions a bit. Which i've still go. Sapling say may still happen. Sapling one that i six one say a breadstick not a bagel. But yeah that that brings us to clare thing for miami catchall. We will be back on sunday next week this week to review the finals and the latter stages of the event for both the men's and women's roles at that you can us then yes and if you've been enjoying listening to the passing show and you wanna make sure you stay up today on the tennis at the miami open and all the make sure to subscribe to us. "Rediscovering her full. Because i didn't think she'd she'd won. Many launches at all in the in the middle east and swing. I think he should not say yeah. Grapes viscerally and oversee to kind of get through into the finals. But they have a shame because she was playing very well so far in the tournament. I'm actually really impressed with selena because as you said of pathogens been pretty indifferent. Chat awful match ends as a rancor. Who was injured in the warm-up didn't really know what to do and and still lost but yeah she's been really impressive this week and the i was of thinking about it i think the conditions and sort of the boo sitting up and it being really slow thing. I've really helping the counter punches. In the mood defensive players stay in the point longer and pick movements. And i think fits. Lena mertens is well. I think they have. I think martin's has done in a different sort of way. But i think physically and it was just getting back to what she does. Best crofting out these pretty some pretty decent results. I mean she had that real. Tough tests up up against shelby roaches. To begin with shelby gonna come through that and she nearly did but selena really kind of bringing i think rediscovering this pedigree that she had last year and Yeah i think she'll be hyping to go Favor on on deeper into into the tournament because yes she's just very very good and being able to handle the power players. I guess on the other side of the net to her and just a new andrzej counter bouquets. Konta roy russ at the moment. She hasn't had she hasn't had back to back wins this year. She hasn't actually bittered ten players. Twenty nineteen. I think the usa say again sort of lack of form. She said injury struggles. But it's i always feel like she just needs to go and play some of better words more budget tournaments. Joe your your favorite word. I'm just to get some some full men. I mean it was always going to be a tough. Ask us as coming into miami with very little match practice. fitness under your belt but yes bit shameful for joe but a player that has had a very very good and somewhat surprising. Week is anna. Cognac is a croatian player. That we may or may not know too much about. I think a couple of years ago she was up in in the top twenty. She was you know she's still very very young. But she's had about three or four elbow surgeries it's really knocked down the rankings and oversee taken taking its toll on her and she's been given a wildcard into this tournament and she's safe all briefing proving its merit because she's into the fourth round. She's got seven next. She is shown tech in the last round In three set so really impressive performances from from cognac and at she is the first time she had three consecutive match wins on the tool since well made four years ago when she was ranked twenty in the world say really impressive stuff from her and it seems to be joel. Every tournament opened appreciate tool than she. This being like a breakout player. Who's done something very surprising. I i think the surprise here is the breakout player has been a player. Who's actually been around before i play. Who was high up the rankings. Before i think injuries took toll. I think you know she'll be so. I think just thrilled to be back out on the cool and i think you know their surgeries. Probably gave her perspective You probably have never kind of had to deal with you know. She probably had some documents in terms of You know having full elbow surgeries and she would just imagine be very pleased to be back on back on the cool Tennis that she was paying before when she was doing so well getting up to number twenty in the world in 2017. Seventeen say yeah. I a bit of the field. Max and soon jim really have an onset. Which you you you really say. That often cognac was very very good. And she didn't let a i think second-set blips or affect her affect the result and a field like she's got massive belief in her her game. Maybe that's because of the performances. She knows that she's she's had in the post and over she is unseeded under and wildcard. You would expect her to kind of she can keep injury free. You would expect her to kind of rise up the rankings. Yeah how to voice ever ratio in that on tape match was very industrial. Usually not something tech is is the queen of. She's got the next. He got a walker because hallett unfortunately had to retire from the tournament. Say yes simona halep having a right shoulder issue not able to carry on so i think that's winnable forgotten yet but it does mean that we're going to have a player in semi's who wanna in the quarters story. We'll possibly this amazing. Yes it it will not be and i hope it waiting. Keep her up on clay. Call season coming off and a pop. She's thinking preventatively. You try is is where she won't stop see peak so they point and kind of pursuing on hardcourts in difficult conditions. When when you klay round the corner yeah definitely and also we had saba lenka blanket through silver in round four blank had absolutely wild ride to the To the full froude abacha perron cover was an absolutely. I mean that was an absolute costa. She lost the first set six love and then one in the final set tiebreak eleven nine. I mean that was absolutely crazy. Crazy scoreline prompt will be completely gutted but yes sabah lenka re just another one of those plays i think rediscovering full at right moment We will know her. Capabilities will say impressive. Actually about of the match was That was a very big think mental challenge. I think you know we know. She's got the game to play out. Who's very good in pro to come back from a bagel down. I think was very very impressive. The fact that she was match points down as well. I think shows how how much she's actually matured on the tour because she is very combustible but she was obviously very measured performance in reacted very well from being very adverse situations in that match. Yeah she's in an adverse situation the movie because she's five up in the first shall we serving to row bagel says. So it's going swimmingly. The moment sabah lenka she is my champion predictions. Say hey that's not famous last words. But i'm on the bottom half of the draw. We've got some really intriguing matchups. Which yeah i mean. The top one of course is is quite mouth-watering bianca andrea ski against gobain Aretha and how does that sound show. Sounds great. I mean there are some really fascinating matchups. The men side. It feeling a little bit wafer thin. But i mean the the web is you'll really is is stocked and this is definitely one of the marquee matches i think for the for the full frowned on rescue. Who again one of those players is just coming back into form she. I think rediscovered it in australia. Post australian open and she's carrying that onto miami and she just has enormous belief. I think one of the press. Gophers issues like yeah. I'm i'm here to win. I'm here to win. The miami open and i just love that belief that she has and much in the third round against anisimov again. Nassar appropriate ding. Dong as i would like to call it came was just an absolutely absolutely classic and people talk about on rescuing anisimov and that Being a rivalry for the future because if if both of those plays can keep fit which is not a certainty. I think we can safely say but if it is and i hope it is those who plays could definitely put on a show for the future underscores third tournament back.

"Has a winning head to head over him so he'll hatefully eventually schedule. We'll figure it out and nobody beats future beach three times in a row. Well we'll see about that but we've also got denis shapovalov. The other side always play one of your favorite her cash. Egwu know whole load of Later players we would expect to be making their way through nishikori someone. Perhaps we weren't expecting daniel illahi gallon That's kind of a a section of the draw that is apron up because he be alex minore. So but let's let's talk about. You mentioned earlier that the conditions and players collapsing. Jack draper british player. Many people perhaps wouldn't be too. I you with him you know. He got a wildcard into the tournament. Because he is that. I m g Program and i'm jay kind of run this from the tournament so this was his debut. First time on the atp tour and would you believe. He's forced to retire after the first set because he collapsed on court. We now know how you want your tro debut. Every i mean it was real baptism of fire. I think you know for jack. Draper gets a very seasoned tour level professional in mikhail kukushkin. I think he handled himself pretty well. Actually chains some of the highlights. He looked pretty good I mean he lost the the set seven five but in it. Was it regardless. I think you're going up and kind of what. Gm i've seen seen a few times live qualifies. I think he does have the ability. And i think that's what makes exciting. He does have the ability to play on. The you know the atp ellen the atp tool but at the moment his body is think is ready and Scottish show that and kick office was saying this was a conditions are so so tough in terms of really heavy bowls very hall to hit winners very humid and yet just got the better of jack draper. Which was it wasn't nice to say because you know he fell by nicole. It was dizzy and it felt like he should just felt like he should just were retired gals to call and just kind of keep rate a now. He would have wanted to do more. But i think it was kind of the. It was definitely the right decision. Yeah and he's still so young in nineteen is age yup beaten down three hundreds of the world but what we saw was fantastic. I thought he was hitting winners. Left ryan center for those gonna. I e game like really good performance until you know obviously the conditions go to him and i'm hopeful that he will have more wealth coat opportunities and hatefully in somewhere nice and cold to still have a bit of a better experience but yeah. Let's just kind of finish are on the men's side space joe. Are you still confident. The method is going to win the tournament after week. One in miami. I mean as long as these loads of electrolytes. In which i think is what he was he was he was off to what was feeling those. Those crimes yeah. I think i think he will recover. I think the you know having a rest day will help him. And i still. I think he's looked very very good. I she thinks passes looked actually even better. But i don't think he's come up as quite stunned of attest as methodist pedestrians did against Pawprint so early on but Yeah i'm sort of backing medvedev. Corrupt seven passes while. I'm still backing them. I think cross uva gain has looked very good so far. What seen a minimum quote came through against chicken. Foreign t anticipate as well looked really say. I've got no no issues app. I do think that tall pocket could spring. Surprise mean medvedev does going to always be an injury doubt. I guess going forward in this tournament yet feels quite if it feels very open that top. Yeah i agree. Perhaps is my upset him in tiebreaks. In the semis. But we shall we shall wait and say i'm audit i who i'm gonna get now. I suppose rip left. He was my finalised prediction. But i've put the curse on zverev anyway but we're gonna take a quick break now but see. Join us in the second half where we'll be looking at. How the women's draw shaping up in miami sec- you in a moment. This is the passing. Show your joined by joel and kim and now against move onto looking at the women's draw safe are in miami of fourth-round is is underway. We've had two matches already Some more underway as recording. This joe say very exciting that happening today as a big day in kind of the whole. Wj calendar kind of like the fourth round of islam. And everything's happening. So where do we begin. Let's let's go to the top half of the because we had some really cracking matchups ashburn against beka as rancor we've had vivus fit selena we've got injuries for anchor. Connie to come last one. Perhaps quite surprising will be getting to that shortly. But yeah we've just had body and as of rinca brought he winning in three sets app. If a paul school line six one one. Six six to joe yet bhatti. What's a bit of the apple as anchor as had a moment. I think. I think he was too on in the third set she had some points in boston was able to fend them off and really was bit of one way traffic From then on some yeah. I think as aranka will be disappointed. She was able to seize the initiative after winning that second so easily. But i mean tash party i mean she i mean let's remember. She is the defending champion. She's she's held it for two guy go two years now but she has been I think growing. I think better and better into the tournament. She had a bit of a wobble in match against christina. Kucova the qualifier. I think there was obviously some signs of roster. She hadn't she didn't Pau in the middle eastern and swaying decided to stay in australia. And i think she was five t down not against cova. Came back so some really some real fight. I know we could have always associate with you. Know such a a bachelor like ash party. I think that that ostapenko really. I think kind of set hurry for the tournament. And i think she's going to be growing from strength to strength for the rest of the tour and have to pick up a scout like azarenka. Who's i think that had to read record was pretty. It was pretty even. I think maybe it was one one multi azarenka yes you'll be grown incompetence because of that victory and they used to play doubles together with d. cracking doubles team. So i think they know each other's games quite well say. Interestingly well we bought he came out and said the. She's her and her coach. Aw planning to be away from australia for good six months until the us apron. I'll just yet for a particular player. He has been home for like a year to go from such an extreme to another extreme that i feel like could be an extra potentially an extra challenge to overcome and may be. It would simplify things. But i mean to be away from home from that long you know yes. It is the decided to life but even say that is going to be particularly challenging. Think yeah makes you realize the commitment that you know of players do even in the best of times but obviously with the the tiwi corentin the you have to do in australia. It's with the calendar. It's not really a window of time where they can go back and do the t. weeks just to be out to go home for like a week or whatever to see family say big sacrifices fash quality amongst others as well and just also in in this section joel. We've had Kavita selena now. I was surprised but it's was playing really well and know elated. Joe konta the round before it under an hour because less at the less said the better there. Yeah and she's been looking kind of radi really strong and then learn behold selena comes back and wins in well and edgy seven five in the third so yeah able to kind of get some form..

"And that. Sort of in language. That i feel like. We've you know if i was at. Atp in atp leadership team and hurt those sorts of those are the sorts of potentially would trigger me and i wonder if it might not have got that far but if that's the feeling that the pay a looking at on the ptp while this is going to have to be some very stunned conversations. I think between the parties because it doesn't feel like the player council re doing anything at the moment because we having this conversation is so belittling. I think what the player council is sort of set up for. Yeah i suppose the atp they don't big organizations date like the date not change. They like to keep the status quo and we saw that. We heard that raw though when we had the the wo- team tennis chats about the seventy s well team. I kind of said so as a as a rebel to the conventional tool so it has shades of that. I suppose but i mean has been joe. There has been some some pretty good tennis as well in miami. Not just trims. On cool. And i mean let's let's start with the tennis because we're kind of the fourth round stage now round of sixteen. Let's begin with the top seed on the men's side. Daniel medvedev who is still in the tournament just about because was gonna hang up big time alexi popper in had a long three three-setter a managed to get over the finish line. But yeah after hobbling around on the cool Should we be worried that he's not able to cape with these conditions. Your it didn't surprise me because we as we said this. You know the temperature in the the weather there. The moment combined with slow caught conditions. It doesn't surprise me and even the fittest of players are really struggling and it was it was i think for me. It was a little bit surprising to see medvedev cramping towards the end of the match. Perhaps even more surprising for me was actually the he came through as the winner Papa was gonna be able to make the most of that and win because he has been a player who i've i've had. The last few months has been really really good form. Sold in the funder. Low bit from alex manure in from australia i think he may want his title You know down in in singapore this year so he's doing really really well so i was a bit surprised actually wasn't able to kind of pull off the victory but think for medvedev. Yeah it was just a case of getting through. And i think i think i'm saying i'm not a medical expert. I think that with trump's hopefully he's good enough recovery time. He's got the day off today. Which i think will be an absolutely you. Know he will be will be thanking lucky saws not respect and he'll be able to kind of be back on court and have to know. Have to withdraw. Yeah he's got frances tiafoe next. Who is actually in the law. Sixteen of the miami third straight year so actually likes us and it doesn't atf. And he's he's done is he's hard work to get there because she's being set down comeback method guys and sat down to set up. Then you know. He's out the tournament basically see if i- money's on him to come back but yeah he beat down evans in the second round Annoyingly british fans from a set down and his come through against a live h. Trivia say whole host of other players. Your really impressed with t.f. Oh this week. He's already known as a player who goes one set. Doubt that comes back a win. three. I think before miami. He had twenty one consecutive losses after losing the first set on tool In the best of three and then all of us added he goes a wins three consecutive on the balance to to make the fourth round really impressive stuff from him. I mean talking about that. Match against evans i think fifty fifty match up and dan will be kind of disappointed. He didn't win. he did really well to win. That i think tiafoe was five. Three evans was able to come back. And snatch on a tiebreaking. I thought he was going to go. And pull away from that but tiafoe obviously had other ideas and yeah he's been really really really really impressive He's one of the. I think he's definitely one of the Very fit. I'm physically player. And i think these conditions he's so ready kind of acclimatized t and i think he will. Yeah he'll be really happy. The of the way he's come through some real some real battles and unlike evans who think he'll be a little bit disappointed because he's lost two losses. Tiafoe crat seven in dubai. Were very very tight. Affairs and i think he would have felt that they were both kind of missed opportunities. Yeah i i agree. He needs to be winning. These these type matches and especially eddie rounds to get in. It's run going. I mean credible opponents both of them. Of course and see if i pull ups against medvedev for another american doing pretty well as johnny's no. This week came through against faa to tie breaks of cool job and credits at brett. Halliburton twits twitter. Providing this because joan is known to rely on his serve in that match over. Faa he he hits a total of one hundred forty eight groundstrokes which pads combat's a yannick in verses karen how that number was already achieved at two old in the first set so tool forty. Oh in the us at that much. Sooner had already here hundred fifty groundstrokes will choose demonstrates the kind of massive difference in someone okay. Johnny's dot massive serve winning tons of free points affair against kind of classic. I want to say no more tennis player. he would say rather move groundstrokes than is ner yobe. Obviously you could play tennis in lots of different ways. And that's just like a plea example of that yet exhibit very catch a very much like to play the bass slide but yeah. John is with his big beaming. Sav seems to be coming back I think he's i think he's spend a little bit indifferent I've the start of the season. Dentist had any sort of injury troubles as well but yeah. It's nice to see him back. He's obviously got previously has been a miami champ open champion before so. He's a very windy tie against about easter next. But that will be cut nubia a very tough one but americans definitely seemed to be going well At the very top end of the drool. I'm moving on to the second quarter of quite surprising. Probably the biggest shock of the weeks. I fall came. We had sashes vera lose number three lose in the In his first match in the second round to emil roussev very finland pretty pretty surprising school. I mean he is very won. One six six two six one. I mean what did he. What do you make of that one. Because he was the acapulco champion. You think you actually had him as as wittig the toward a bit going out in quite a quite dramatic fashion in that school line. Yeah i i think it's just because i predicted him to win joe of cruel but he's to show of cape. Yeah a bit of a letdown. After apu okay. But i mean acas like a massive win or anything but yet amount of the school i need a first set six one and then kind of succumbed..

Daniel medvedev australia emil roussev dubai five singapore today miami first set Johnny tiafoe Three one set Halliburton John twitter trump this year medvedev fourth round

"Free meals including free shipping. What's not to like what katherine such go and present live television. So tonight i left to to to just wrap things up for this edition of the tennis podcast. Just before we go just wanted to make a mentioned we were looking at the deal replied the other day and came across the name butch buchholz who who one of the courts within the second court. This year is named after and he is somebody that i have been aware of all the way through my career stretching back more than twenty years because he was basically in charge of this tournament before i am g bought about twenty years ago and he stayed on after that as well to to to be part of the operation but he was basically responsible for an event that was known when i was a tennis fan in the early nineties. He was running what was called the lipton championships at key. Biscayne lipton is tate whether the title sponsors and people just used to call it the lipton that was the most effective title sponsor ship. I've ever come across. I mean i. I think i mean i'm biased. But i think queens when when sponsored by stella artois is also very effective that used to get called the stella but lipton championships was massive and he was an incredible and he's still alive today and happy say he's eight years of age he's former plant. He held roles match written down here as commissioner of Of world team tennis he was an executive director of the atp but he was a real visionary seems to me mats and somebody looking all your research is somebody just kind of got it you just gotta facets of what it takes to bring tennis and business plays and all.

"Telegraph. sports understand ganzi. Enzi made this very point to pospisil. When the two men met at a players meeting on the basketball court in miami on tuesday night with an audience that it also included. Atc massimo cavalry got enzi and cavalry had been at dinner when they were called into see pospisil by a couple of players. According to sources the meeting can be summed up. This pospisil listing his grievances and god. Nc challenging him to give the solutions giving to give solutions to them and asking if he really thought that tennessee deep seated issues which were spelled out this week in a bloomberg report could be so easily solved. Quarter read by the way that blue bone blooper bloomberg reports if If you wanna have a look all about the issues within tennis and it's many factions of course and and it says that tennis accounts for only one point three percent of the total value of global sports tv in meteorites which is a smaller share than gulf hockey or cricket simon rights. So who came better or worse from the basketball court meetings. That'll be a matter of opinion. Almost everyone in tennis agrees. The leadership have been orbit invisible during the cova crisis. Right simon on the other hand pospisil seems to have been struggling to create a convincing alternative to the atp's admittedly distant way of doing things and his explosion on the court can hardly be described statesmanlike. So that's what simon's written and and the open court website which is put together by stephanie. Miles the canadian reporter. She gave a little bit more personal details. She said that Got ncaa company really went after him. They called him. Things like ignorant and uneducated reportedly in tears afterwards pospisil and still shaken up when he went onto the court after the incident. Pospisil didn't attend a press conference. He was requested but he didn't attend. We don't know whether that was his decision on whether there was another reason but he did tweet. I want to sincerely apologize for my behavior on the court in miami earlier. Today i disrespected the game. I love for that. I'm truly sorry. Where explanation. I felt deeply unnerved during a meeting between players and eighty executives last night and i underestimated the toll. Those emotions took on me until i stepped onto the court today again. I'm sorry for my uncle. Behavior and the language are used hashtag players. Think he's missing an apology to the empire person but anyway. That's the pospisil cancer. I've never seen anything quite like that. I've seen all sorts of meltdowns. I've never seen a player. Bring a political soak in a row off court onto the court in quite that way and meltdown. What were your thoughts. What were those thoughts of your studio. Pundits yeah i think we've identified a a variety of agro that we're not into sir. Neil wasn't particularly into it. Yeah i mean. I think customer tiny slack because if what he detailed in the apology there motion etc etc. But but he's trying to spearhead a very grown up thing very what ought to be very growing up thing. Unfortunately i think sort of that behavior in the immaturity of it. Kind of reflects the pta. What they've been trying to do like plenty acknowledged that them. There might be something in setting up a players association in challenging the the slightly strange office structure that governs tennis in trying to institute change. But the way they've gone about it. I think there is a real immaturity to it. Just seems so sort of incoherent. At best. I mean would even are they a a photo. A photo does not an organization make so to some extent. Actually i think the expression of all of that on the cool yesterday's source of in keeping that it just feels like a bit of a messy immature naive venture at this stage. Maybe maybe they do have a very serious ammo in mission statement and ways of doing things we haven't heard about it we haven't heard about really valuable. I hit plenty of comparisons to the sports. But i don't hear any really coherent. Viable alternatives being presented. How things should operate. And if you're trying to set up something is important in big deal is this. You probably should have that and if you do. Have any reason why that shouldn't be shouldn't be made public. So i don and then you have. John is ner coming into press. It was actually before. I shake pospisil yesterday. I know john. Ner is an officially a leader of the pta certainly not been afraid to be outspoken for their cause and he was really in large backing away from from the whole thing. Certainly saying look. It's not about the money he so wanted to make clear that this is not about the money. It's about the structure of the sport. And how we want to change that Which kind of runs against everything we've heard about. The the main grievance if the pga which is prize money and the distribution of prize money and the decrease of prize money over the course of the twelve months. So i'm just really confused about what the whole thing is about. And yeah i mean. It's just an awful awful look for bad for the movement. I would say yes. Yeah we've yet to hear anything from the a. As far as i'm aware in terms of whether they intend to take any action for his behavior on caught beyond the the code violations that he got for as sort general behavior matt. What were your impressions of the last twenty four hours. Yeah look i mean we've heard we read the reports about what might have happened or might not have happened in that meeting i. It sounds like a group of disenfranchised players kind of discussing what to do about their grievances But whatever you think of the pta and we've talked about the fact that there are some real problems with it. Not what katherine said there the lack of organization and structure to it and the timing of it at a time when i think most people are in agreement that unity is is is required rather than disruption also that bloomberg piece lays out that tennis does have some real issues and maybe some reform is a is a good idea somewhere down the line. So it's a very contentious issue the pta but regardless of what you think of it i think pospisil's actions did absolutely no favours yesterday. That was quite embarrassing. Actually and that is not a guy that i would want leading me. I don't think it wasn't statesmanlike..

Don't Count Out Kacper Zuk

"Zouk. I mean you look at his effectiveness against graduates. Made seventy percent of his first serves was twenty seven of thirty on first-serve points in the match nine of thirteen on second serve points so again. He's thirty six of forty three only lost seven points on serve throughout the duration of the entire match. That's freaking nuts and look casper soup another guy who only six feet tall but very alejandro davidovich fokina e davi go fanny in his athleticism. The word that comes to mind is just spring. He's a good athlete. He's gonna track down that extra ball in the corner. He the ball is going to explode off of his strings. His first serve is absolutely a weapon. You look for casper zouk over his last fifty two weeks. This is a guy who has had a ton of success onto or you look overall. Where's he at. In terms of his record. Casper zouk thirty three and nine in his last fifty two weeks onto or now you expand that to twenty nineteen he seventy and twenty eight overall in his last two seasons seven itf titles in eight total finals. Of course unlike Evan furnace looked for casper. Zoo he already has a semi-final at a challenger level under his belt made the semifinals. in calgary. last year he knocked off asheq pospisil in three sets. We all know when onto have a very successful. Indoor hardcourt season was in the midst. I should say of a very successful indoor hardcourt season when he lost that match in calgary but yeah for zouk seven titles in eight finals like everyone gets angry because fa doesn't win enough in finals. Casper's zook is winning and finals and again nine tara. Seven ten in his career and challenger matches. That's not great but it's not horrible.

"You can't run actually because it's a conflict of interest. And i was like well. We didn't know that that was an issue that that wasn't clear so it will be in the works. Well exactly so that was the other thing is is one one the. Hp has found out that we were on the list. They created overnight. They created a new law. A new by law in its bid to prevent us from actually being able to go there and represent players saying you know but it's okay that that you have you know I m g represented that own you know on the board at t. There's such or or are like i. It's i mean it blows. My mind blows my mind that it's okay that all these other insane conflicts of interests like no other sport in the world like they give pasta that that's no problem. That's no problem but but these two tennis players you know shouldn't be able to represent the players because they're trying to do something else so we're going to create a law right now overnight that the board wars going to pass and we're gonna stop them from going in and and you know it's it's it's crazy. It just shows you how desperate they are to maintain its it's upsetting but but it's reality in a sense though you have to kind of feel that you're going in the right direction because they're clearly threatened like there's a reason why this is all happening and you're obviously ruffling some feathers and you know it's it's it's clear that there is a problem they are that threatened by you guys go up -solutely why like like you. You nailed it right. It's like what is so wrong about having like a player. Group being represented by by professionals that like if if everything is run so smoothly and everything i mean. Everything is so fair to the players. Everybody why are they fighting the so like so hard right. It's so of course there's of course there's there's a issues there right. I mean everyone wants their business to be as profitable as possible. you know. that's the essence of it. Right in general. I mean so i get it. They're trying to protect their business in their income or their profitability. Also that grant slams nine going to get into the grasslands but That's that's the biggest issue issue of all the amount of the amount of money that they earn and and and tennis only has a hundred players that are making You know top hundred that are making a living and everybody else's suffering and all these other so it's there's yeah i think it should be very easy for at least three hundred players from the men's and three hundred hundred women's side at least to have to be able to have a nice living and be able to You know be profitable with.

"pospisil" Discussed on Beyond the Baseline

"But there's a lot of confusion while was a necessary you know and then obviously within just a couple of days It turned out that they had some pretty good foresight and and made the right call because it was an absolute It was absolute chaos. Pretty much just days after days after they made that announcement and at the time when they made it you know it was just you know it was just kind of starting up and I think I think you know Europe was obviously already in in in In a really tough situation but maybe not as much North America but but that escalated so quickly and I was right call so I was. I was there I stayed there. Forbid was trying to figure out what was going to do and then when when things really started to get worse I just tried to pretty much just book at home and try to make it up Up Up to Canada to be close close to my parents. I'm obviously I haven't seen my parents. Don't intend to but but just being close to my family and I mean I'm guessing tennis out of the question. I mean somebody wrote to me. And they said well. I don't understand I mean it's it's social distancing at the same time you're you're touching the same ball of someone on the other side of the net and it sounds like hitting tennis balls right now. Just isn't something that's in your in your thought process. No no I haven't hit. I'm hit a ball since I don't know win. The next one will be in the you know for now. It's just it's just really running outside away from from people and and then just doing some up in in in the apartment and not sure when when will be hitting the courts. So they'll be you know it's a good question not not can't answer you You joke joke about your cooking but but seriously what what are you. Doing for? Nutrition is pretty critical to every professional athlete. What are you? What are you doing bud eating? Yeah I one of the first things I did when I got here as I went to the supermarket and and Just stocked up on a bunch of groceries than just filled up my fridge and hopefully it lost me a few weeks and and just Yeah I mean I. I've never never cook. I have no idea what I'm doing. I probably bought like the most random grocery list of Alzheimer's walk through to the supermarket is kind of like beans with Pasta. And I'm like what am I doing here so I just kind of took whatever I saw that I wouldn't mind eating now. Have to kind of figure out the formula. Love making a a proper meal but but Yeah it's it's it's also in times when I'm taking time off I I also tend to binge a little bit on. I don't have to be careful because I don't want to gain too much weight right so God but I'm trying to try and eat healthy but it's not easy. You know at the same time my wife boy said if you can read you can cook. So I think it'd be on Internet now well Yeah I mean I think I think honestly I think it's really interesting to see what the mentality of athletes are and I think one thing we're realizing is we're all in the same boat here whether you're a top tennis player or you're an NBA player or you're the woman at the Nail Salon on my block. Who isn't sure when she's going to go back to work? I feel like there's something Sort of very humbling. That we're all we're all in this together. Sounds like you too. Yeah absolutely I mean every every every profession is it. It's all relative right. I think everybody everybody's innocent affects everyone negative except some are just more. Are you know have a more stable unfortunate position? Where they have. They're able to obviously deal with this In an easier more comfortable way I think. That's that's consistent through all industries and jobs and every everything right so so But tennis is no different but like I said. I'm I'm pretty fortunate. I'm not You know that that I have had what I need. What's been the interaction? I think Diego Schwartzman. Someone had tweeted out something about a a whatsapp group among the top hundred players. What's been your interaction among your colleagues. Yeah we have a yeah. We have a big group That actually I started when when we're doing this Kind of trying to unify the players a little bit in have communication Amongst the all the players so it's actually a good outlet for us to kind of stay to stay together communicate well and and you know whenever there's an update I I'll throw it in the group so that everybody kind of is informed knows what's going on we also exchange our opinions and ideas and and recently you know since the since the cancellation of wells. It was a really good. It was very useful that we could all communicate on the on the phone and I think it's it's an unprecedented group chat. We've never had you know. We've never had this kind of communication amongst the players were were not this unified someone. I asked a another player. He said if if nothing else he got some good binge-watching recommendations out of it so You you've got to service it I I feel a little silly talking Tennis politics at a time of crisis but You we all know about the news of the French Open. Yeah we don't. We don't even have to go here if you don't want you tweeted about it. you're sort of You've been very outspoken about political issues in the past the ANYWA throat. Yes sure I mean I I it got a little bit misconstrued like I think some people were were were thinking that I was upset that they that they had changed. Change the date due to the virus but that that wasn't the case at all I was Obviously I was I mean I was referring to to their locker communication Enrolling girls came out. And and you know rather than working together with the tour which which you know in time like this. The whole world is coming together. I mean everybody. This is what we're trying to help each other out all around and they basically just went completely the other direction on that that On that you know basic principle of of Communicating and and. You know treating the tour as a whole in as as a tennis family which which you know I know. I'm pretty sure the whole tennis role didn't appreciate that they that they just Disregarded any any any other events or or players or or You know the management and it it F and W T and the other grand slams and they just changed their dates because Because they just wanted to grab that spot in the calendar before it was discussed on which tournaments would would go there if the virus Kind of Slowdown by then and tennis starts up which is still uncertain so I think it was more more in the in the process in which they had gone about which which which. Obviously I wasn't very happy with and the whole tennis. World was pretty surprised by by their move what I mean the the response. I suppose. Listen we're trying to run event here where the French Open. We're GONNA put fifty million dollars of prize money out there. What's the problem? What's what what would I do that. Well well the problem is is that you know we need to function. We need a tour. That's functional we. We can have you know anarchy we. I mean we can't have. We can't have every tournament going rogue because then suddenly in a Wimbledon say okay like I'm going to go here and then US Open's GonNa say okay. I'm GonNa go here and then you know. And then they're gonna go to week where there's a masters event because they're a grand slam and then suddenly masters events going to be in a tough spot. I mean it's just. The tennis tour is is supposed to collaborate and work together and make agreements to to make it work for everybody. I think it's more it's not. It's not about the money. And it's not a in this case. It's about the principle of of Of just collaboration and communication right. It's like if you're if you're in a working environment you're going to your office and and you know and and there's zero. Communications only have three or four people reporters working on the same story. And then you know what I mean. It's just. It's just not a very good analogy. I don't know but but it's just it's more just Out of the principle of the lack of communication and respect for for the rest of the tennis tour More than it than anything. Obviously you know it was. It was inevitable that you were going to have to change. The date. Says I mean the France is going through an extremely tough time as are many other countries and and much of the world but but You know there was another way to go about it rather than Just making a pretty selfish decision. You're saying it sounds like everybody was blindsided. And everyone except for Robin Dot was blindsided here. Yeah that's what I heard. Yeah I mean I. I read that online as well that they gave him a call and which They either do things differently. I guess Wrong girl just kind of they don't have a playbook they just go by whatever they WANNA do and okay. You can respect that. Everybody has their their thing. But then don't be part of the calendar or don't be part of the ATP or the is the Grand Slam circuit or whatever. But you know if they have a they have a contract with with the ADP and they have an agreement with ADP the respect that they can't just go great that's kind of the essence of of business and relationships and so But yeah nobody knew about it. I heard I mean people have been talking a lot about how this impacts Labor Cup but would people aren't talking about as much as this is really an impact. The women's swing and China and China. Some level sort of propping up the. Wpa Two right now. Do you think I mean I duNno. It's twenty four hours in but do you think some players are going to not play the French Open. Out of protest I I don't think I would be surprised if some players didn't play and then most and then a lot of players daily. I feel like it's going to be everyone's GonNa play or nobody's GonNa play I kind of feel like Just because it is a grand slam it is a prestigious events and and even though they you know didn't in my opinion Handle the situation the way they should have doesn't take away the fact that they're still one of the four biggest events in the world so I think it really depends on how the eighteen and WTO respond right now. I think that that will be telling in terms of You know which blares are playing or not playing because You know as you said is really affects some some really big events that are on around that time because they know they have you know they know they have the the power they know their their Grand Slam and they know that that players are GonNa WanNa play there because of points and prize money and prestige so We'll we'll see what comes of it but But for sure would have been nice that everybody gotten in one room and had a constructive conversation and obviously we. You know there was no nobody would want you know French. Open to be cancelled if they don't want to cancel if they WANNA reschedule. Then that's in the best interest of the whole the tennis tour. Everybody wants to the Grand Slams to go on so it just there should have been more communication. I've got to I'm GONNA lead the witness here but I I'm guessing. The events of the last. Few weeks have not chilled. Your Enthusiasm for unionization and more player. Unity I'm guessing Chilling Affect yes. I know definitely not I mean again. It's it's just Just under the principle I mean we just. I think you know the tennis store. The tournaments players. It should be a business partnership because I mean it is right. You have the tournaments in the players and ATP is fifty fifty but but we don't we don't have the proper representation we don't. We're not unionized. The way the other sports are nuts because of You know certain circumstances ten being very global sport and individual sport with many many different language barriers and on obviously the union laws between different countries. So it's not easy but the the only you know the only the the advantage of the union is that that we just have some some leverage in negotiation and make it kind of make it a negotiation rather than just taking. What what we what we get in terms of terms of You know everything prizemoney points schedule just would be nice to have Be TO BE UNIFIED for sure. Let let me ask you one more question which I think this is such. There's this is completely unprecedented. I mean nobody predicted this. There's no historical analogy. We can make but athletes have their career sometimes stalled for different reasons for injuries or suspensions or personal reasons and some athletes. Come off that. And they're doubly fired up to really make a dent and they've had this blast perspective and it really sort of infuses them in another athlete sometimes comeback from injuries in their never. Quite the same. How how do you go about using this time off to really use a sort of rocket fuel and to really resume you? You were playing at a very high level before this. How do you come off this strong? And NOT DEFEATED IN DEPLETED. Well I think I think that this You're either built in your. It's not I mean I. I don't know I'm just. I think that you know you're either competitive by nature and embiid by nature in in if you're still intending to play tennis during the after this break then I feel like that should be enough to to motivate you to to come back strong. If that's you know the kind of character that that you you have but So I mean that was the case for me when I obviously had surgery and I came back with a whole new perspective on my life on on the sport and and then suddenly I was. I was healthy and I didn't have any pains anywhere. started moving Extremely well and I got fed and so I think I think you know getting in terms of getting staying motivated during a time like this coming back in good shape I think it just really Just depends on your personality and character I think you know.

Vasek Pospisil on Coronavirus Impact, Tennis Hiatus

"This week we talked to Varsha Pospisil I wanted to get an athlete perspective. Like so many people in the world and athletes job has suddenly been disrupted and income has stopped coming in competition stopped. They're no longer going to their equivalent of the office and they're trying to figure out what comes next and volcanic was great. He is in western Canada right now. In like so many of us is in this cosmic holding pattern. So we talk about what? It's like for an athlete. Their career suspended and we talk a little bit about tennis politics. As well of course we would not even a global pandemic caused tennis to unite quite the contrary on Tuesday. We got news at the French Open was unilaterally grabbing these dates in late September early October for a hopeful reschedule the twenty twenty French Open This caused quite a bit of consternation in tennis land. We talk about that in a number of other topics so Nice conversation with one of the good guys. Here's Varsha Hospital. We are recording this Wednesday about noon. East Coast time. I appreciate you doing this. Yeah this is strange strange times and I figured we. Can you know you can always talk tennis? Politics Plum. I'm more interested in what life is like for you. How how are you doing? What are you doing? I'm doing okay. I'm while I've I've back to Canada about four five days ago. Came from from southern California. Were Indian Wells and Sonam in isolation basically. I'm I'm staying home. I'm trying to learn how to cook which is not going so well. I'm trying not to go out. And obviously you know it's really important to be to be responsible now especially as the spire spreads and Um so I just Especially for the older population. I mean that's that's the the biggest risk right so yeah very very strange times and very talk times. I mean this is You know not fun right now. That's for sure and it's Think the world's in top place right now in your in Vancouver right yeah. I'm I'm in Vancouver. Yeah to kid. Can you go you know run around Stanley Park? Can you do anything to stay in shape? Yeah you can. I mean there's It's a it's a recommended quarantine at the time at this time. It's not a mandatory one. Ah so you can go outside But I mean I'm only going outside to work to run in the in the park and try not to to make contact with anybody. Obviously because I think right now I said You know until we fully understand this this thing. It's it's important to to kind of make sure you distance yourself from from people so I'm spending about ninety percent of the time it indoors or more I should say and And trying to do work out here as well have been doing some like you know. Sit Bodyweight stuff. Sit ups push ups the in these kinds of basic things to do when I was a kid so Yeah just trying to do what I can. But which is talk. When you're you're indoors all day. Do you have a time in your head? What are you thinking? I anticipate coming back in time. And how is this playing out mentally? No I'm I'm You know I don't think anybody really knows how long it will take. I mean I think it's pretty safe to say that the next couple of months. Are you know pretty much a scratch in terms of in terms of the tennis tour? I'm not sure Novica announcements even unofficially. I'm not sure but I don't see. Don't see that being the case and obviously now we saw the rolling girls changed their dates. So you know clearly they're not expecting Think say improve very quickly either and But at the same time we never know but I'll be very surprised if if if there were any tournament. Thanks next to two months or three months so it sounds like this is as much a mental challenge of physical. One you can. You can get yourself back and playing shape but if you don't know when that next event is gonNA come. It must be hard to mental mentally account for a comeback. Yes it is and and the other thing is I mean it. Yeah it definitely is because we're not we're not used to training are playing without A target in mind in terms of the next competition is either. You're you're not trading because you're injured and then when when you're you know Healed up then you have an idea of when you want to start playing in your training for that in mind. So it motivates you and your training with a purpose right now you kinda feel You know that a anything we do right now could be completely pointless so it's also not a bad time to rest body because the tennis season is so long and we never really get time to rest to rest which is which is also important right so I mean that's that's one thing I'm not really intending are pushing my body too much next couple of weeks for sure and and even so. I'm not quite sure when when it'll be time to push the body. I'll just try to stay. You know relatively Relatively good shape just to be more more so just to be ready to handle handle workload once. It's time to start training so I don't think I'll know that for a while. I wonder if if you guys don't say this is. This is now a sport where you play into your late thirties. Maybe it's a disguised. Blessing that at age twenty nine you. You've got this three month period of inactivity the two up yeah. I mean yeah well in terms of yeah in terms of You know arrests for the body. It's definitely like a good thing To to to have a bit of a break obviously You know nobody. You know you don't want it to be in circumstances like this. You don't want a virus to be the reason you know a global threat to be a reason for that but but But of course yeah there are some some things you can some positives of some things you can take for sure. But but overall it's Not Idealistic Get can I ask you about about income about finances? We all saw that Jovovich and the doll and they deserve every penny they. They've made as far as I'm concerned but some players have the means to To whether this no problem but how our players getting through this with no income source while I mean I. I've been very fortunate. I mean I'm I'm in a difference You know a little bit different position where I've I've been able to save up some money over. The years had good results. So so I'm I'm just in a very fortunate state where where you know. This doesn't necessarily impact me in a very big way. So I'm I'm very lucky in but that's not the case with as you can see with most most people in the world in general and and in Tennessee as well as tough because You know if you're you're not a consistent let's say top fifty player big results or had money saved up. Then you know the players that are outside of the top hundred there there You know I'm sure they're in very very difficult situations. And not just a unfortunate reality and and I'm not really sure what what The tour will will do if they will do anything. I'm pretty sure they're they're working on solutions right now to help those with with lower incomes. help them financially. Because I think you know they're obviously the ones that that that probably needed needed. Most you know having said that obviously affect everybody right suddenly you don't have income and your expenses are always high even though maybe now they're not so much but but Yeah I mean I think I think it affects the tennis world just as much as as It affects you. Don't a lot of a lot of other industries obviously minus atop the top ranks players. That have made a lot of money. Yeah exactly and you're you're right. We should point Mrs something that Every Marriott hotels in every restaurant in the world everyone is wrestling with the same issue at some level I mean have you heard our players sticking with their coaching arrangements? I mean are. You're not probably expenses. But they're still expensive for players. Have you heard about tennis players? Making adjustments there no haven't really Other than just what will you know what I'm doing personally? I haven't really You know I'm not really aware of what what's been going on with the other players and their arrangements in the coaching. I mean it's I think I think It's just kind of a tough tough time. Where were suddenly you know even coaches and physios and fitness trainers were were? Nobody's making any in common But you know I I think it depends on the the agreements that that each player has with their teams individually. So it's I think there's still a lot of question marks that I think will be answered next couple of weeks. I think once you know maybe there's a bigger delay announced for now. The official announcement is still just six weeks of the tour being cancelled which like. I said. We'll be much more on it. I think once not announcement comes up. And maybe maybe there'll be some changes In around the you know the player often and compensation not sure it's a very interesting and Yeah I think we're just kind of thinking on our feet day-to-day and taking it as it comes right now. I mean a week ago. They that announcement came out about a six week. Delay and I think everybody was fairly shocked. And now boy if we get back out there in six weeks it'll be. It'll be a tremendous achievement. For for all of us. I never mind tennis. That will I think get off the very opportunistic. Get back to your actually totally. I mean I remember. Yeah when the announcement I came you know when Indian Wells was cancelled obviously Things have just EXCO. It's so much so quickly since then that that I mean it's it's. It's pretty incredible that week ago. We all surprised by the announcement. The whole tennis world in all the players were like. Oh Wow that's you know that's crazy like that's that's incredible and then L. Let's go on and then you know a few days later. There's just so many cases around North America and accelerated such such a speed that now it just seems unconceivable. That even be any tennis for for next while so Yeah interesting times and and I don't think six weeks is realistic right now. So

"My whole team flew in the day got cancelled and and Yeah like I said. We were pretty shocked. Then they clearly has some you know. GotTa give them credit. Because I think there was quite a bit of at the time you know quite a bit of opposition to to their decision. I guess or not not even opposition. I think everybody understood it. Everybody thought it made sense. But there's a lot of confusion while was a necessary you know and then obviously within just a couple of days It turned out that they had some pretty good foresight and and made the right call because it was an absolute It was absolute chaos. You're saying you it sounds like everybody was blindsided. I feel like it's going to be everyone's GonNa play or nobody's GonNa play I kind.

"He carried that Spanish team to that title and that was able to brush over a lot of the flaws that could have sunk this event in the first year right. So what was there? What were does that? The buy in from players was was clearly present. Rafa Novak the Canadian team there was so much to love about the actual tennis being played like you said not. All I mean just lit up. He's won the Davis Cup several times before this. He has an incredible record in singles. And the week on an indoor hardcourts at the end of a long season out to where he doesn't normally excel. It's just he made such a case. For this event. In this format the event also succeeded in giving double such a prominent place in the event. Right because each tie I guess only had three rubbers. Two singles and then the deciding was always the doubles. The third rubber was always doubles in some cases. The doubles was not played but in many cases doubles was the decider throughout the week. Rafa Beats Huchon of he beats doted. Popovich in doubles defeats Schwartzman in the quarter-finals Plays a Dan Evans. Great Britain in the semifinals. He in Feliciano Lopez Defeats Cup. Ski and Murray. He Beats Danish up over love who was on such a run in the finals against Canada. And I haven't mentioned all of his matches but the caliber of opponents was there in a way that it's not always in Davis Cup and the ease with which he beat some of these opponents giving or allowing Diego Schwartzman. What two or three games indoors? That's that's crazy in that final. After all that he's played something like eight matches in five days by the end of it. The final match he plays. He has the opportunity to secure the Davis Cup by beating shop of all of and he does it in straight-sets after his countrymen comes back from his father's funeral and beats Felix. Oj assume in the first match of that final. Can we talk about Canada? Sure this team. The Canadian team is so deep because for most of the tournament they did not play Felix. They didn't play me Loesch. This Vashem pospisil and Dennis shop of all of doing almost everything for Canada. A healthy Canadian team is very deep. Because that would include me. Loesch rummage right. I would argue that. Canada made made it this far because of Russia. Pospisil say what we have sayid over the course of this past year bash But he was resurgent at the end of the year winning some Challenger matches and events and he parlayed that into Davis Cup magic of R- beating players that earlier in the year. Absolutely no chance keep in mind. He was off the tour for months. Rehabbing an injury and so this is exactly the type of momentum to get him back into the feeling of being a top thirty. Atp Player again. It wasn't that long ago that he was a player of Haft on eighty murder and there are all higher ranked than is open Oko Fanini. He and Dennis teamed up to play out John Van Ruby in doubles and one and then shove evolve. Beat Bertini Taylor. Fritz Chana of these. Are you know? Canada knocked out. Basically four world powers in men's tennis Italy USA Australia and Russia to reach his final two things. That didn't work. It has to be said that it is unfair given the history of this event that one team maintains such a strong home-court advantage throughout the entirety of the tournament. Right when the character of Davis Cup historically has been these raucous home court advantages these home crowds and a lot of fans weren't are just simply not going to be able to come and create that kind of atmosphere so Spain had kind of an unearned advantage by being at home or being in bed with Peking I mean what are the ways there to look at why was Madrid? Pick does the first host but at any going forward. This is the format any country is going to be seriously advantaged the website. The APP was atrocious. I mean if we mock Grand Slam sometimes when they have Faux Pas. We've seen this time and time again but this this took the cake. This was bad from snorre finish. I think that's a larger thing in tennis. Like why? Should we not use Google and all these scoring APPS wikipedia? Even what are your digital properties doing better than those in you know when you're following a tennis match and you need to find something out you need to find out. Well what is the head to head of this player against that player? Are you going to go to the ATP website or the W. T. website? I don't know. Are you going to where you're going to go to get a live score? Are you going to take the time to open the pro score APP? Or you're going to just google the name and the new Palmer right down there. It is disappointing that there isn't one spot where you can feel comfortable to get everything that you need to follow tennis. If you are that keen about there was too much tennis in the sweet. I think it's it's too much to pass to pack into one week and the matches way too late. It's not great for fans. It's not great for the players. That's something that I hope that they work out in the future and the larger issue that this is going to bubble up a lot over the next few years is that the calendar is problem right over the past few decades. These tennis associations have been trying to balance a lot of interest in their calendars and you've added Labor Cope which is Roger Federer's event through the ATP you've now added the ATP Cup in January and. There's the Davis Cup. So you have all these team events that are supposedly happening every year. And you worry about oversaturation Buying from players and the thing like with players. If there's money and there's this sheen of prestige involved the top players are going to play and they're going to try because that's just who they are well to answer your question. Maybe the problem that you describe of oversaturation. The answer to that from the organizers was just to not make it accessible to folks they just can watch because who could really find the difficult to watch it. I know this is going to be an issue going forward because these events are novel now but in a fury few years. They won't be. They're not going to be as exciting because it won't be new so you have to find a way to make this sustainable in the future Davis Cup. I was prepared to hate it. I didn't hate it. I found myself interested by the end of it. Of course I like a lot of the Spanish players so that was not surprising in that respect and I also live in Canada and I have a vested interest in following Canadian Tennis Rent. So for us it was. It was about as good a result as it could have been in terms of keeping our interests throughout the week. Roger Federer and Alexander's Verve did not have a vested interest in Davis Cup. They were like fuck that will federer other things going on. I don't think it's shocking that he should choose not play Davis Cup in this format at the end of the season now like he had scheduled this Latin American exhibition tour which is awesome because how often to South America and Central America get to see Roger Federer if ever and he took a long young Alexander Zverev as a partner who we know. Hated this iteration of David. He talked about it like it's something that he's known his entire life. And how dare they have messed with it right? When in fact he's like two or three times but his opinion as I sit here mocking him was that it was a travesty. It was terrible that they were doing this Davis Cup and he had no desire to be a part of it and that is an entirely valid opinion. Yeah no I'm not mocking that. At all I think is Latin. American tour is awesome. I think bringing tenants to fans in different countries that rarely get it is super cool. They in Santiago. They had to postpone or cancel the match in Boas because of protests and we get to Mexico City and forty two thousand people attendance match. This has possibly the biggest attendance ever for a tennis match. I couldn't verify that. But that's what that's what I've been hearing. That's what we've been told. And they expect it to be broken. Nadal and Federer Plain South Africa so honestly I'm not one to complain about exhibitions because you know it's not the same exertion as as real real matches that actually count. Let them make their money and let them complain about the calendar too. I think those are not mutually exclusive. Which is to say. Somebody can complain about the calendar and still be able to go make a few bucks here yet without you being because it's not the same without you being nasty about you know folks like to sit here and tell you what you can and cannot do. Just sit there right. Sit there on your mother's coach in the basement and just just let it be food and lent Mexico City while out because Roger Federer is there but what I did find was some folks who traveled to Mexico City to go see that match were then having things disabled people who traveled to Madrid. What's Davis go like handler man? What is going on let people live? This is tennis in the in the middle to end of November. Let's just get through it so we asked you again a few questions about your impressions of the ATP season and you are all very generous and sharing your feelings we asked. What will you remember most which I realize is very open ended? Well we want to get as many responses as we can and to the question of what will you remember? Most bad toss says transcendent RUFFO. Resurgent Andy Surging team and plummeting Gimelstob. We've touched on three of these four things already. We have not talked about plummeting Gimelstob but I think we well and truly covered this topic throughout the year. We did so. We encourage you to go back. We make time stem so that the stuff is easily accessible to. I was going through our outlines for all the episodes this year. We talked about players council and Gimelstob like a lot so I hope you all were interested because I started to get a little bored of it. But bad toss. She hit on a lot of things that you all responded with that. Us Open final. And the Wimbledon final. Those are things that kept coming up. Simpson's paradox out. Little wonder one sixty eight mentioned Rafa kneeling to catch his breath in the fifth set. And there's a lot of symbolic import to that as well because we know how much went it was very touching go into that well into that fifth set brad hunter offered the Medvedev experience at the US Open and his relationship with the crowd from match to match. Oh he went from embracing this role as villain to accepting culpability for stuff. He may have done wrong cord. And then transforming into Cinderella almost by the end of it swing volley mentioned that one of the things to remember most was members of becoming a troll. Master shows. Talk Tennis had a similar response right. He became quite skilled at it as the week goes on and I do want to circle back to something that we set on her. Us Open final. Which I think could have been misconstrued because we mentioned the stereotype of this kind of Cold War Soviet villain whether you saw throughout us culture for many many years and I grew up in the US. I I saw that growing up. I don't I don't want people to think that we were supporting that. No like what I thought. Medvedev was doing was ironically embracing that that villain archetype. So I if I was misconstrued was probably our fault anyway but I don't want people to think that I That's how I see the world but also even if media weren't in the moment aware of that aspect of it in in fact that's a whole lot of it played out right to the people in the stands on the casual especially the casual viewers watching tennis right. We have the rise of team and CNC POSS from at Russell Underscore neary. I think James Shank wrote Robert Fara. That's a that's that's the tweet that's twenty nine hundred. Which if you're not a social media follower of Tennis. I think what James is referring to. There is Robert. Ferrers insistence on thirsting. His instagram it could be just workouts. Could be just that Brad. The weight shot and the angles and this and that and the what have use it presents a different kind of viewing experience or other storage esque. I'd say there are a lot of these men who are Angling for that thirst trap Po Position. We've talked about this entire segment on the show. Before Marinko is kind of the most obvious about it I would say and self aware I mean. He went through a little phase after the break up with package where he was out here advertising what he had to offer correct. And so what I want to ask of you now is what were or who were the thirst. Trappers twenty nineteen led topic. I think it's the usual suspects you have. Vasko Gratuitous Chore Itch. Were Rinca Fara Ah anyone deeming trove a lot more classy about oh definitely damaged. I'm not here to to slut. Shame anybody that's not what this is about. But Gregor has a different aesthetic that he puts forward right all right moving on and then you have the folks who who want you to think that they're not strapping but Stephanos seats. A bus is Thir- strapping. If you recall one of his blogs he just casually wakes up out of his bed and he's in his underwear and he's taking extended strolls across the living room in said underwear it and goes to the bathroom and said underwear. "Chosen these these guys and they've they've produced so that kind of went away without incident but today day the couple moments one when you realized what you're up against with Dow his force of Nature Presence Send. The wash is as brilliant as Neal's Cup ski was today and he deserves to play. The was a moment where you just saw the Dow walkout and you just thought just imagine if if the Murray brothers walked out right now as well Just in terms of matching up that that personality out there but he was there looking terribly miserable courtside and ex and just going through hell. Yeah I mean I felt the same fulfil just for she she or a purposes to try to try and fight the force of nature and on the opposite side of the court. I thought the only chance of combating that would be with with the Murray brothers and ended up feeling guilty for for having felt that as I watched you know Neil scopes give rise to the occasion Asian and be really as much as he doesn't have kind of Mario Batali score and presence he's an incredibly cool cucumber and I was really struck by that really. Didn't doubt his nerve at any stage because the noise people make when he was about out to try and serve in that second set time writing for instance. I don't know how they concentrate when when the crowd is kind of whistling and if if they missed the first serve and then they kick off again and as you say he just kept Tattoo. Art was mightily impressed. Some place just just come good. Donate the Davis Cup happen. That's two wins and pushing the Dow. Close that's a pretty good FM. Yeah meanwhile landy. Murray sank into a state of sits esque despair on the sidelines there is. There's a prolonged camera. Shots of him as ASKEBZC in his his brother were walking. Of course the the one of the cameras on the side of the Panthers Marine it was. His face is frozen in a state of deep despair. It was it was horrifying. I mean for for for tennis player who is achieved. Zandi Mary to be sat inches away from that core. Not being able to do anything about it that was unfolding thing must have must have been agonizing and normally tennis players watching. Tennis is one of my absolute favorite things Felix. Would you Elliott this week. For example has been just great to watch in the box face pumping Andy Murray. What Shing tennis is one of my least favorite things is it? It just made me made me sad. He was he was squirming and biting his nails and sinking into his chair and hiding behind his hands so he he was going to have watching his brother. That's the lowest he didn't. He didn't sit in the front row didn't he. He wouldn't hide himself away. He knew he would be projecting his angst which he very much was he wouldn't go away stuck it out out but we don't know what's wrong with him and I kind of want to know whether it's any more serious than what we knew about it. It is not just biscuits no many having a day off after that match was was understandable Having another to not playing again in the entire tournament well. There's something wrong so I want to know what it is but we don't know anyway. We'll find out. I'm showing showing Yukos now. Spain they're gonNA play Canada in the final tomorrow. Canada beating Russia. Quite fantastic result doc for Canada having come from a rubber behind because vast pospisil finally beaten by Andrei Rubel if Dennis Chevelle of is producing isn't he. Isn't he doing in well. Ready to step up his he can still be erotic and he was against the other day but he showing some metal here I think. Think and great. Great performance. Canada's first-ever Davis Cup final for them. Isn't it yeah. That's right and he. Yeah Dennis chiappa valve has has been really great not not always the most brilliant tennis that he's capable of. I don't think but in a way. Okay that's that's why he's been so impressive because he's been managing to win without just kind of blowing people off the court. Necessarily he's had a lotta tight sets difficult situations. And Yeah he's he's been really impressive and this was a big big tie against Russia. He's obviously got some Russian heritage. Take and you know so. And he's got a Russian coach Mikhail Youzhny so so there was that connection for him out on the court today. Yeah he was. He was really great and to see him. Combine with specific this week. Because the the partnership everyone was talking about was was os. Your Semen Zemun Chapa Valve. That's the that's the more natural partnership in the in. The Canadian squad seem not quite being fits enough because of his ankle. Well I actually asked shop about oven pospisil impression of what was your. What was your relationship like before this tournament and and had have you played much before and this is the first time they've played doubles together? pospisil and CHAPA VALVE AND CHAPARRAL offset. He's always looked up to pospisil and wanted to play with him ever ever since one Wimbledon and possible said. Yeah we've we've been through something special together here them. We're going to be stronger because of that and it's good for our team going forward that this that this is a partnership that we've developed a relationship that we've kind of nurtured on court and yet is there's something there's something really powerful about them for them to be able to beat action of a rube left who have already got that pre established friendship before the tie I thought was just incredibly impressive from them. I think we all picked action of a move live yesterday. I thought Russia would make it possible Saul afterwards afterwards asked about the comparison between the Davis Cup ties. He's played in the atmosphere is played in before and this one is his captain. Frank Don Civic was was interested to listen to as well listen to these. I feel like the the emotions are comparable to be honest. I like well this is the first semifinal I mean is even even even more emotional. I feel like there's been such a big build up to to this day. Just we played so many matches to get to to the semi semi finals. So it's it's yeah. It's the best of three format now but I wouldn't say it's less taxing on the body especially if you have to play singles doubles every day. I mean I feel like it's pretty similar at least my feeling. I still feel like it's like we're playing Davis Cup. There's so much on the line you know we have we have great Fans flew in and so it just felt very similar to to playing Any other Davis Cup tie accept just for some reason feels like there's more on the line because all the players are here all the teams are here so in some ways that that makes it kind of feel even bigger that if that makes sense I don't know but Yeah feels feels feels amazing and I would I would still. They say that they're from a player's perspective. From our perspective it seems very similar. It's been an amazing ride. So far as a captain I. It's it quite new to me. I've been doing this for two years now. I believe two two and a half years. So it's quite you and To be in this position this early in my right my captain career is amazing. I mean these guys have a great team to back it off. These guys are world cost players and and they're playing they I I mean this week. They played lights out. And I just think that You know I'm I'm really really happy with with everything that's going on. I wasn't expecting it to be honest. I know we have a great team. I know we're great players. There is but to be in. The finals of Davis Cup is a really big deal. And and to be here it's it's sort of surreal but You know it's kind of gathering the motions right now and and we have a shot at the title. So I was telling these guys on the chair when I was when I was sitting on match point and my you know my heart was beating so fast that it was actually starting to black out a little bit before the match plan I was trying to control. Oh my breathing and just on my cell debris the slowly and stay calm and we're you know we're close to this so damn civic basically passing out while he's he's courtside not very helpful but you know what a what an experience for for those guys and to be in the final now and it's a Dude I love the way. Canada embraces tennis the way they've embraced the Andress Q.. Story in these the young Canadian men as well. It's it's a fantastic story and they've come at numbers to support them as well do they have do you think. Do you have a better chance of beating in Spain in the final in Britain did or Joe do you think it's going to be straightforward. You think you think we'll get doubles tomorrow. So that's a good question shop shop Ivanov does not have a good record against top top players. I don't give him. I don't give him much chance against Nidal So who do we think will play. Spain's number T to we have to do. We seem Lopez. They were in the Spanish portion of the press conference tonight. There were saying that quite unbelievably really really but there is a chance about east to Google will come back and play he was there today. COOTS and camera radium. Moving having a moment between the Dole and heaven embrace in in the tunnel before they would g to count No word spoken but Non Needed see very emotional for the Spanish team. Participate if you if you didn't tear show of a couple of nights ago lost his father a few days ago and left the team as a result of that but has come back today so yeah incredibly moving to see the pictures of him. I mean that would be. That would be something if he played so so. Yeah I think so. It's about whether Pospisil I think can beat Spain's lines not pospisil isn't really fully fit. As a matter. and He is put himself through the ringer. Absolutely he he's got a bit of a shoulder a problem. He was getting heavy massage on his shoulder. During that doubles it didn't didn't seem to affect him too much but it's clearly really bothering him. Saying idea see might be just about fit but but he's not played for weeks. I mean yeah. Expect him to come in and play. I think would be incredibly difficult. I think they'll stick with pospisil. Don't you talk to shoulder or not just inject into that shoulder and off you go check your whole career for that moment. Franken income frank. Dang Chevik is an interesting captain because I think he must be one of the most understated captains you know he's not he didn't have Brilliant singles career really. You know like like Lleyton. Hewitt's or Ramadi facial captain's Nicolas Massu an equally. He's not he's not like a Lien Smith or a top chef. You've got lots and lots of experience in the Davis Cup and yet I think because he's a similar kind of age to a lot of the players and he's been on the tour with them. I think the players do connect with him quite well. I think there's a related but let's see there and it doesn't doesn't feel like there's a hierarchy in the in the Canadian team. It almost feels like chiappa valve pospisil. You know everyone's directing the questions to him whereas for example in sorry to them whereas in Britain's press conference Leon Smith gets a lot of the questions he feels like the team spokesperson. But it's less so with with Danka Vich and what we were saying yesterday about the kind of end of golden generation for Serbia. Well this famous feels like the star to the golden generation for Canadian. Tennis already started with with Andrea School and shop of Alvin are seen rising but just just for them to be in a Davis Cup final without really using well. I haven't used. I think what they could be doing in future years. It does feel like start over kind of Canadian power in tennis. Um Does Roddy. Then I think we saw going to get a doubles match tomorrow. Still it would feel so wrong if we don't get a doubles in the final. Yeah this week given how this week is played out just no body will start Nidal. Spain on spinal went. Yeah I I'm not sure we will get a doubles. I think I think they might get it done in the singles I think there they have had the tougher side of the draw in terms of rest. Nadal actually shut down the the press conference in quite respectful away but he basically said. I know you're doing jobs. I need to do mine and I need to go to bed. Kinda thing we'll need to rest and everyone kind of accepted. Did that issues enough dull on that now catherine which you just informed formed everyone that we will need to Catherine. Richards is left Sankara and we are going to leave the tennis. podcast on Nice for tonight anything else before we do go matt..

Align hasn't scored since December twenty ninth. These also when fifty three point one of his face off, so Canadians get an upgrade for the fourth line the kings of basically just moving up few slots in the draft. So a your halves Finn. You gotta like the move. No biz. No our air really liked the move. You know, some people thinks it's it's it's useless. But to bring in a repairman like that who can who can win faceoffs especially in the defensive zone. He can help kill penalties. Obviously providing offense isn't really what he's he's gonna bring us. He goes on little bit of a hot streak, but just a guy to help balance outline lineup a little bit more. And I mean who knows man that much your all ti- might make play offs. And that's the type of guy you're going to need in order to to fill in some holes. And and Berge made it clear, it wasn't gonna make a big splash or mortgage any of the future. But that's the type of move that can help in the playoffs veteran and also I mean, yeah. Like, you said biz mucho gets in and the bell centre. Crazy time come playoff is that good French either way that place is not. So it'll be fun when they're in. I actually route from Montreal to be in there for several reasons every every guidance these goddamn get all those Canadian teams in there. Get them all in there. And then go on long runs. I don't care if we lose. Yeah. It's not a huge pickup for the kings. I mean, basically, they're gonna move up a few slots in the draft on probably figured he's going anyways might as well get something farm, even if it's not a huge thing. So yet Canadians got a little stronger down the middle. There's an incident in a US Hockey League. And the other night flight flames proc-. Mcmartin Pospisil in nineteen year old Slovak of fourth round pick twenty eighteen halo skirmish in the fans in Omaha. He was in the penalty box per flames nation, which is a well-known flames blog they said Omaha fans at thrown some trash on him while he was in the penalty box. He responded in kind. They threw the trash back, Adam. So then he stepped up on the bench. He tried to climb over the petition the stance. He was grabbed by some adult in the area and let away from the arena pretty hectic scene to having a catch that with. I mean, these kids eighteen years old the people throwing fucking trash out grow the fuck up now. Yeah, crazy situation. I mean, listen, I also want to mention that. There's a lot of useless things you see in life like, for example, think of like if there were domes left and business hotel room, useless, the useless, most useless thing I've ever seen in a rink is that little piece of glass above the fans. Did you see that behind where the whole incident was what is that doing either put glass behind their or have anything at all? It made. No sense it lead. To the entire not leads the entire incident. But made it easier to happen. The kid lost his mind talk about wires cross and biz I just I was surprised to see it took a little while to break up. I mean, it got bigger than I thought it would get but still I mean, you don't wanna see that shit. I guess people probably loved it. But you know, that you can think both teams are kind of embarrassed by the whole situation. I still haven't got the full word on how it all took place. I will say this. I've sat in some boxes where we're fans are just ruthless, and they say ridiculous shit and some people's comments would be like, well, he's a he's an NHL draft pick and he's going to hold himself to a higher standard Faulk. You if Faulk and throw something at me. I don't give a fuck if you wanna fire me because someone threw something at me. I went over and socked him in the face. I don't give a shit..

"We can use to read all the papers back home came up for you. What we had. Okay. Anyway, news type of Canucks. I was two pieces and pull Haywood the first breads, and we had a piece of Molly Brown. Anyway, I. Onto that. I don't know you couldn't get your politics into the papers online. But anyway, rustic Pospisil sent a letter to the players ranked fifty to one hundred the reason why he did that is because he's Representative repairs ranked fifty to one hundred and he says some extrordinary things like he was claiming that because as fifty percents of the profits in the NFL go back to the players that should happen. In tennis. The grand slam should be paying that much money to the players. He was also saying that the ATP chores biased in the interest of the tournament. And he said that the books needed to be opened. So that they could see the money that the tournaments making they can't be swindled and to my understanding Chris actually dig deal through very recently in which the most tournaments all game to their books and will henceforth. Be doing a forfeit share type payment rather than having to just pull a number out of there. So I didn't quite fever really passionate. Let's really well. Take united. And I think there are some really strong arguments in there. But I think what he's arguing for is a fundamental change of structures eighty asking for players union. Suggested here year ago and new back is the chairman of the player council. So these guys clearly have a fundamental philosophical opposition to the way the tour that up now, it's definitely true that the ATP is very peculiar body. It's fifty percent tournament. Fifty percent players to groups who naturally are tugging totally opposite directions with the president as the seventh man on a seven man board so three tournament representatives three player presentative, and he's trying to guide the whole ship when you've got into an oil. On the middle. But it's a big deal to try and totally Republican organization, which is not always perfect. But at the same time that it exists all giving really they're all giving it to be for the. I mean, there is a fundamental conflict -flective interest at its heart and the by by definition of the structure, the the chief executive's role is to navigate the political minefield of that conflict of interest. And I think by and large. She's she's an extraordinarily good job of doing that. Because my perception is that he's always been viewed as quite a favor of player favorables rights. Rations at the tournaments are the ones who are really upset because it looks like this month when the vote is going to be taken on the board level is not really singing into the microphone. People love the been sections. The political correspondent. That's my money job title, like the mirror. Correspondent. The gonna have to vote on whether to renew Chris tournaments very unhappy at the prospect that Chris might be ousted by the players. And let's say that you feel the ATP is is constituted in. In a non viable way. Does that still mean that you sack the for that reason? I mean, there's a lot more to their personalities as the Xtra factor of Justin Gimelstob being the board member. "And they combined Chile Dodig to win six two in the fifth against Nestorian Pospisil that gave them a two one leads after the first two days, and then church wrapped it up beating Dennis Chiappa valve. So it has happened. But yeah, I it looks as I package wasn't in the team that time. So I mean, he's one of the world's top doubles blood. His knee. So say he is he's going to be favored unless they unless they really need chillers for some reason. How's Buna church looking map because although one paper we haven't seen him for a little while he was of see at the last week. And he was a lot of players Goto hitting pony. He's spent ten days pretty much playing singles practice sets with the world's top tennis players. So art expect to see the the surface change to take into account, but I'd be expecting into pretty show. Yeah. He's he's certainly is. I and has a it's interesting the surface. Probably the one thing we should mention a bit more. Perhaps I always wonder with when you're choosing a surface, whether you should pick a surface to sort of amplify, your own strengths or to negate the opposition thing. That's always the kind of conundrum and the NF Noah was basically saying how it was a little bit of both. He he certainly clay bearing in mind that he knew she was going to be the fine Osen as it happened church. Was there was an alternate as well and practicing on the hardcore? But also he thinks clay kind of the French plans haven't really had any good results since since the clay season and vote on Garo. So he kind of wants to wants to get them back to feeding those good vibes from the clay. And also he's fairway that clay is the surface that that takes the longest feel comfortable on the French team have been here while impressing on clay for about three weeks. They've actually only been practicing on this core for a day because it hosted international rugby at the weekend. So they've only been able to practice on it from yesterday. But yes that I think is the biggest question Mark over church and Chile how. Well, can they adapt to the clay or it's gonna be fascinating max has been out there for the last twenty four hours as we've been talking about and this morning, he got chance to speak to the top man at the ITF, Mr David Haggerty. About whom we've been talking a lot recently in terms of the politics of the sport. We wanted to to find out where we stand a head of next year. And that started by asking him how he felt about being in Lil for the final year of the Davis Cup in its traditional format excited. I'm excited to be here in Lille because we know what a great stadium an atmosphere that we're gonna have for the finals between France and Croatia France last year, reigning champions in the same venue in Croatia runners up a couple years ago and winters and twenty two thousand five rather. So it's gonna be exciting. We know the atmosphere will be dynamic. It'll be all the things that we believe are important for Davis Cup. So we're very excited to see the weekend and see the the finalists come through whoever whoever the winner is and date looking.

"You actually can because they can't go anywhere. That's true. But they really try again, I'm not Joining joining vehicle. vehicle. You can't do it taking care of you can't do it when they're like eighteen months or two years because then they can move. But right now is a newborn they really can't go anywhere. I think the thing with the the people names, I think you give people names, but you give them people names that you would never actually give your own child. Like, there's not too many Endo's running around or Hollis's like that's strange hipster kind of named that works great on the dog girl for movies, and all, but if you gave that to a little child like there's not many kids who can grow into being a Hollis can it. Can they grow into being a home? That's I think that's a good. I think that's going to go back to being full name. Okay. Yeah. Is a name that could dog name also people. That's actually Danny's middle name. That's a good. That's a good one. But generally speaking, you give people names that are a little bit outside of what you would really give your child Brian. I don't mind how I think it's cute when you give a dog like a really normal like really normal person name, right? Like, Dave, right? Well, we call we call freight. Oh, Fred, right. Like just like it's like they're like an actual person. I do think that there is a lot. There's a place where that's what's the name. But like the treating them like they're people gets a little weird and it varies by person. And it's like, how do you mean? Well, like, I do think you have to remember at all times like they are animals. They're not people. I don't know. I don't accept that. It's possible to cross the line. I I I'm not saying you should mistreat your animals or anything like that. But no, it's important. I think what the what the hierarchy needs animal be the animals. So like, I was big into let it go outside. Let her go be a cat if she wants to kill a bird. If you kill him out. I don't believe I don't believe in Wildcats just letting your count outside and doing stuff I don't do that with my dog. I dunno. I people with cats do that outside. Yeah.
