"And it was like a fully sized holographic probably like a screen basically. With a digital avatar on it, there was doing we're finding and helping people and stuff like that. So it's interesting. Yeah, I mean, and the avatar thing, I think, is totally dependent on the use case. I mean, I'm of the mind that. There has to be some nuance in how we and how we approach it. And one thing that you, one thing that you see in a lot of the in a lot of the marketing of these platforms is the human like approach, right? The most human AI or the superhuman like or whatever the case is. And I think that and I think that that's cool in terms of just kind of human computer human computer interaction. But you said something really interesting earlier when you were talking about deep gram is that you don't want like no one's here to try to fake users into thinking that they're talking with a human. Like it doesn't and maybe shouldn't even ever be at that fidelity. Because we're not here trying to fool users. And if you are, then I'm sorry, but that's unethical and you don't belong in this space. But there's a difference between a very human like experience and the AI is projecting like a human and versus a human like experience and that the AI understands you as well as a human does. And I think that when we talk about the most human AI and stuff, that's really more what we're trying to get at is these human these human like experiences in that you don't necessarily need to speak like a robot in order to be understood. And then to kind of take that back to what we were saying about the avatars. The avatars can be a little bit. It can be a little bit gimmicky sometimes. And that's okay. In certain in certain cases, in fact, like the way finding in the train station, I think that that's kind of cool. While I was traveling, I saw a I saw a little robot on wheels delivering delivering drink orders.

"Hello, hello, hello. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Welcome to VOX world. I thought I'd let that run a little bit, 'cause I wasn't sure whether it was live, but it is live. So welcome, I plus I just like that song, so sometimes I just like to listen to it, do I get to hear that often? We only do two of these week. But welcome to V wax world, I'm your horse as always. And we're going to have an epic composition that today we've got my portillo, who was the lead conversation designer at Amelia, another Gartner magic quadrant leader. We seem to be going through Gartner magic quadrant platforms on this podcast like nothing else. So we will get into that conversation in just a minute. But before we do, shout out to our present and sponsor deep gram, deep gram, if you don't know by now, is industry leading speech recognition that you can use actually that any of your speech recognition requirements it doesn't matter whether you want to use if a call transcribing or whatever meeting transcriptions, but a lot of organizations and a lot of people are using it for the creation of voice assistance. The first part in that puzzle of the perception of what people have actually said and translating that into text to feed it into your NLU, deep gram does that incredibly well. You can retrain it based on your domain or your specific industry or your specific jargon that people talk about your products and services, things like that. It's incredibly cost effective. It is very quick, which is imperative when you're creating voice assistant conversations as we will likely find out during the course of this conversation that you need to have it. At least perceiving to be human like. You don't know if it necessarily that you're talking about actual human, but you need to have a response time that's at least similar. And so you need fast technology and deep gram to have exactly that. So please do go and check out deep ground dot com. Video X world if you are interested in learning more. That is deep gram dot com slash VU.

"Free returns. Check it out. Hey, so the podcast you're about to hear might sound a little bit whoo, 'cause we're getting into this whole personality typing human design stuff. And so what I've done to really help you out so you can better wrap your hand around your head around this is after I finish the interview here with Luis portillo, what you're going to hear after that is I'm going to transition the podcast and you're going to get to hear the entire reading that Louis did with me so you can better understand like what a reading actually sounds like and how it goes and what a guy like me learns from doing something like this because I feel like my podcast would loose was good but it still needs something for you to be able to get your head really wrapped around what a human design reading sounds like and looks like. So when it sounds like my interview with Luis is ending today, then keep hanging on to the podcast 'cause after that, you're gonna get to hear his actual reading with me. So she'll be pretty cool. This stuff has been helping me out a lot, so despite me not fully understanding it, but I hope it makes your life a little bit better somehow 'cause God made us all different with different unique talents and gifts and skills and this is a pretty cool way to figure out what those are using the power of planetary readings and a whole bunch of other stuff. So check it out. Here we go. Well folks, my wife and my sons and I all went through this process recently called a human design reading. I know that sounds kind of like tarot cards or something like that or palm reading, but this was really interesting. So I was having dinner with a friend of mine who recommended to me that I look into this concept of human design as a way to know more about yourself, almost similar to like a strength finder assessment or in enneagram or something like that, but far different in that it takes a lot deeper dive into our decision making processes and how we tick and how we interact with other people. So she recommended of all the different people who could do a human design reading for me. Initially, I did one. I thought it was so amazing. I had my whole family do it as well. She recommended this guy named Louis portillo. Lewis in my pronouncing your last name correctly is a portillo portillo. All right, I got it. And do you like Luis or Lewis? Luis is okay. All right, these are probably all things I should have sorted before the show, but I didn't. I'm lazy. So anyways, this human design process with Lewis was so amazingly mind-blowing. Like how he was able to read me like a book armed with very little knowledge besides like my birth location and my birth time and my birthday, I had to get into the nitty Gritty of how this works. So I'm just super curious and that and Luis is the guy who knows this stuff inside and out. I used to work as a lawyer at an international corporate law firm Luis did on the Mexican side of the Tijuana San Diego California border. And then he relocated to Puerto vallarta and nairi Mexico where he started to investigate and explore all these different forms of self knowledge like meditation and breathwork and sweat lodges and Tapping and rekey and trans personal psychology and his journey led him also to this concept of human design. And he had his own human design reading, I'll let him tell you his story back in 2010 and since then he's taken a deep dive. So Luis, welcome to the show. Thank you very much, Ben for the invitation. Happy to be here and to share what I know in our experience also. Cool. Cool. Well, I mean, it sounds like you had kind of an interesting journey before you actually got to the point where you discovered human design. So how did you find this stuff out? I sure did, like I mentioned, I'm a lawyer or I used to practice law at a corporate law firm and then I took a sabbatical and I went to nayarit and jalisco, which is in the Pacific Coast of central Mexico. And then I discovered I wanted to know myself and I discovered the sweat lodges and TP ceremonies, breathwork, like you mentioned, transpersonal, psychology, and all of these tools, and then I discovered through a reading human design and that was the first time that something clicked that was that a 100% resonated with me. I mean, all of the other elements I mentioned, they were beneficial in some way or another. And human design was like spot on. Yeah. Oh, this guy knows me when I had my reading done. Okay, so you had a guy down and down in Mexico, do a reading for you. Exactly. Okay. He did my reading and I was like, first, I didn't understand what I was getting into. I'm like, I've already had my NATO chart done and no neurology. And this and that, but I'm like, okay. There's nothing to lose. I'd also done some of that stuff, by the way. Sorry to interrupt, before I met with you, I'd done a lot of that stuff. But this one seemed the most accurate. So anyway, start interrupt, go ahead. Yeah, it's no problem. And he started talking about me about my type and type is about how our electromagnetic field interacts with others. And my type is called reflector, and he mentioned, so you're like a mirror, you're sensitive and others might consider you lazy or that you can not keep up with the energy of others like the physical energy of others to work in this and that all of these characteristics that were a 100% spot on. I didn't tell this guy anything, just my date of birth and time and place. And that was it. And I was hooked. I started to work with him to learn from him. And I had some contacts in radio and television, so we did a tour. I would just really there as a listening and learning, and I got into it. I loved it, and ever since I have practiced human design, trained in human design and still learning. Every day we discover something and this is a never ending process of self discovery and I really enjoy it and love to share it. Yeah, yeah, it's super interesting. So I guess it kind of begs the question. Everybody's wondering now. So and we have time to get into this so you can give me as long a reply as you want. I'll interrupt you for clarification. If necessary, but what is human design? Exploring this to me. Human design is a logical system. It is a new logical system, and it combines ancient knowledge and modern knowledge. Ancient knowledge, like we mentioned, astrology is one element of human design. We also use the itching or the book of mutations from the Chinese. We also use the Hindu brahmin chakra system. And also kavala, that we have life of kavala. So this is the esoteric aspect of human design. And some people, when they hear this, they're like, yeah, like a lot of people lose. They don't know what half that stuff is that you just listed off. Like, it sounds like it's a mash up of a whole bunch of different charting and personality typing systems, but I mean, like, who came up with this? Who mashed all this stuff up together and decided to call a human design? A guy from Canada. He wasn't interested in astrology or anything like that. He was a music producer. He was a businessman. And he was seen the island of Ibiza in Spain, and he downloaded this information. So this sounds like science fiction. Because he downloaded this information that he has a testimony on YouTube, he calls it encounter with the voice, so he thought he went crazy. He's like, what is this voice telling me? And this voice or in this download, called told him about astrology, the itching, our genetic code, because human design human design also integrates genetics and quantum physics. So for example, in the download, the voice told them about neutrinos. Neutrinos, this was in 1987. In 1987, the voice told them about neutrinos, which are subatomic particles that have mass, a small amount of mass, and in 1987 for science, neutrinos did not have mass. Officially. So it wasn't until the early 90s, the some Japanese scientists discovered that neutrinos have mass. So the neutrinos, they emanate from the sun and other stars. So they have mass they carry information. This information connects with planets, then with us, so we are bombarded. We are in this stream of neutrinos. And that's why we have certain characteristics and according to our day, month, year and time and place of birth, than neutrinos, imprint us differently. So with human design, we are able to read and to see the imprint of the neutrino stream in our body in our body and also obviously in our mind. When you say this guy got this through like a download, was he doing ayahuasca?.

"I am super excited. You guys let me tell you. This is our nineteenth year come into chicago. Nineteen the first time i came here. I got a chance to to meet some people and they said you know. What gabriel have you ever been here have been chicago like ause. My i is a well. We'd like to take you out to eat. If you're down like whale do i am very. They took me to a restaurant called. Portillo's you heard of it. So we get there and it was. It was very very good. The dogs were delicious. I had a chicken. Salad was amazing. Had a beef dip really really good but it wasn't until the meal was almost over that these new friends of mine said we'd like three to try something you might not have ever had before. That's not likely as well. What does he want me to try. And they said well they sell a finger of portillo's called chocolate cake. I said you had me chocolate. They said well. You gotta go to the special window. And you got to order from the lady. So i'm like okay. Cool so i get up and walk over to the lady and she can help you as a guest on. My friends are telling me that. I need to try. This thing called a chocolate cake shake okay. What size would you like. How good is it. You wanna large. Can i please have a large chocolate cake shape. No problem and she turns around. She turns around and she walks over to this little refrigerator. That's on the counter and she opens it up and she pulls out a piece of chocolate cake. And i'm thinking to myself. She must miss understood what i said. I didn't ask for piece of chocolate cake. I asked for a chocolate cake shake. She must've heard what i was thinking because she's walking by and she's like it's going to happen. She walks over. The blenders takes the freaking lit up and she just looks at me and does this and i was like new. She's like oh yeah. She pours the as she hands me. This like forty four ounce chocolate shake which is way more than anybody should be drinking. The straw was so thick. You could almost fit your thumb in it. Okay so i grabbed a shake. And i begin to a tent to drink and i can see the shea coming up and it hit and then all of a sudden you guys even have taco trucks now for anyone wondering about taco trucks. Let me just let you know right now. That is real good mexican food. I don't want you being concerned like no. There's there's wheels under that restaurant wall sometimes. We don't have a permit okay. So but it doesn't mean the food is not good for me to know that i'm going to have a good experience at a taco truck. I always researched. And i looked to see. Who's running the truck for me to know that i'm going to have a good time. I wanna make sure that it's an all female crew not to sound. Sexist is just when it's all women running the truck then make me feel good about myself. They make me feel special. When i walk up at one o'clock in the morning and i have a buzz. They make me feel good. Hello they come to the window or let me go to the go to us. I feel like a kid. I'm like can. I have back to the now. See when it's an all mexican male crew running the truck. It's late they're tired. They're bitter customer service isn't our strongest point at one o'clock in the morning. And then you gotta deal with drunk knucklehead. Like me they come to the window. It was a bro k. I have a buckle. Okay what is the sit- that's not even a word but you know exactly what he just told you for some reason mexican people and only mexican people have this sound that comes out of us that can just discredit anything you put in front of it. It doesn't matter what it is. We can kill it with that sound. I just graduated from college top on my class. Final work at burger king. Thought this might be on. Say he loves me.

Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt Issues Statement

"Executives at polish video game publisher project s a took responsibility for the buggy release of the highly anticipated titles. Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven this week telling staff on friday in an email obtained by bloomberg that they will receive their full bonuses no matter how the game is reviewed previously. Cd project developers were told they would receive extra pay based on the game's critical performance. Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven. Which came out. Thursday is one of one of the year's biggest games and a monumental relief for the polish publisher which only makes a few titles every few years may only make new titles every few years the sci-fi role playing game sold more than eight million copies in preorders before launch and has been acclaimed for its mechanics and story but slammed for the number of glitches bucks as a friday cyberpunk. Twenty seventy seven had had a ninety out of one hundred on the review. Aggregation website metacritic a strong score that has nonetheless disappoint shareholders if that score dips below ninety. It may no longer meet the threshold. That cd project had originally set for bonus payouts quote. We initially had a bonus system that was focused on the game's ratings and the and the release date but after consideration we believe that measure is simply not fair under the circumstance wrote Adam hausky studio head and creative director for cyberpunk twenty seventy seven an email the saf quote. We underestimated links an complexity involved to make this a reality and still you. You could to deliver an ambitious special game. End quote. The bonus system see project read. You are project. I'm sorry use for developers working on cyberpunk twenty seventy seven complicated every month. Team leaders at the company gave out tokens styled after the studios logo a red bird to members of their team. They felt deserved. According to three current and former employees those tokens would have been transferred into bonuses. If the game met certain criteria like critical acclaim in a timely release under the new system those payouts will be guaranteed. Even though cyberpunk twenty seventy seven was delayed and the review score has been mixed this performance. Bonus comes on top of regular annual profit. Sharing payouts tim What is your reaction to all of this way the you. Where are you right now on your cyberpunk journey. I know tomorrow we're recording. A games cast patriot. Dot com slash. Kind of funny games. It's you it's me. It's probably amy. It's going to be blessing. We're bringing in paris lily. We're gonna have everybody. They're talking about what they've done in cyberpunk. So i don't wanna i don't know is the kids say you know. Don't blow your load portillo. Even i mean just tell me a bit of what you think. I am absolutely loving cyberpunk twenty seventy seven when early shocking for me a lot of that again not to go too deep into this but it is surprisingly linear for me so far with with how i'm playing the game and on my l. This is actually. I'm i'm really digging story and i i am lucky enough to be playing it on a super high end computer with thirty eighty graphics cards so i'm not getting the problems that everyone else is getting. I'm still getting a ridiculous amount of bugs. Like crashes way too often and just the game is so buggy that i'm not sure sometimes if things are intended or not and like that to me is the biggest. Where am i something. We'll be having on my. Is that like a weird glitch affect supposed to be there because it cyberpunk or is there something wrong and it's gotten to the point that it is definitely hindering. My experience with it adds. I like the game. Don't love the game. that's and i i want to love the game. There's so much there but all of this fucking bullshit like regardless of my experience liking this game. It's like this game should not have shipped and the way that it shipped is ugly like this is all bad and this this letter here is. We've talked for years about wanting more transparency from developers from publishers. For everybody honestly everyone every side of it. This is fame transparency. This this is like a lies straight up lies. It's a fabrication of the reality of what their actual intent is this to say. This is even trying to save face. I think is going too far. Like i don't even truly understand the point of this statement.

UNC's Lost Season

"Jeff Bordello. I'm a little shook. North Carolina finished the regular season. They lose to do because that's fine we're used to that but they're the lowest seed in the ACC tournament North Carolina. So some how you would view this season for the tar heels. I mean they're arguably the most disappointing team in the country. Jeff Portillo is a college basketball insider for ESPN. And I know we have to take some other factors into account with injuries. And Karl Anthony and things like that but you know this was a preseason top ten team that like you said is going to be the bottom seed in the ACC tournament in the ACC is not goodness here. It's a it's a pretty down league you know. There are Miami. Nbc in Wake Forest Pittsburgh. None of those teams are very good and Carolina is at the bottom of all that and to me. That's shocking you know. This is one of the best of all time blueblood like I said a top ten preseason team and four months later five later. They're the worst team in the ACC. It's one of the bigger stories in college football this season and I think you could really make the case that there are the biggest disappointment in college hoops so let's go back to October. Preseason rankings come out North Carolina's in the top ten. They're sitting at number nine refresh everybody in what the real expectations were coming into this season for this team. I mean they a lot of guys from last year but they did bring in what people expected was an impact recruiting class was led by Karl Anthony Centerpiece of Roy Williams retooling effort. It's chole Anthony. Going the top freshman in the country making his debut tonight from of a raucous crowd here that the dome he was expected by pretty much everyone to be the most productive freshman in the country. That's how he wasn't high school that's where he was on the scene. He was a guy that was going to put up big points. He was gonNA put a big assist numbers. He's going to rebound and he was going to win games. That's just that's just what he was at the high school level and people expected him to to be that same player Carolina and it. Kinda set up perfectly for him because he was able to come in and this was a team that didn't have any real goto guys coming back. So they said hey collapsed. And you're getting the ball from day one and you're gonNA lead us and you know it kind of looked good. You know in the first game of the season. He was terrific. He had thirty four points. Eleven rebounds five assists debut for coal. Anthony lost a lot of stars to the NBA. After last season with the go one superstore Chambal. Whom the feeling was that? You know this team is going to be okay. Even despite the losses and along with him they brought into Grad transfer. Is that you know. We're probably two of the five or seven best. Grad transfer is in the country was Christian Keeling from Charleston southern just NPR's from William and Mary and and that added some experience at its veteran leadership and combined with a couple of other guys are Mondo Baker was a five star recruit garrison brooks was a two year starter download so i. I just think that people thought you combine the newcomers with the guys returning and even though there weren't any stars coming back from last year's team there was enough here to to compete for an ACC title and Roy Williams has done this before where his team is is written off a little bit in the preseason and under rank behind teams like Duke and he finds a way to win and that's just what he does and and I think people expected him to do it again with the guys coming in and coming back well so now you've got a team that has preseason expectations they get into. The season was the first time this season there was the first real sign of concern that the season might not go the way some had hoped. I think it was a couple of things I think one was even when they were winning the game. They won their first five games of the season. But even some of those the Notre Dame win the Alabama win. There were some signs of. Is this team going to be as good as we thought were Williams? I you get the sense. He hasn't loved all aspects of his teams. Play here today. You know he has. He has not name barely beat. Notre Dame eleven point margin was it. It wasn't addictive. How close the season opener was against Notre Dame so I think there was. Okay let's give it time. Let's let Cole Anthony. And the other freshman get acclimated and this team will figure it out but they lose by twenty five at home 'til Ohio state to start December. You know then they lose that. Virginia you know losing effort gene is not not a usually a big concern. This is not a vintage Virginia team and I think most people realize that at that time and then they lose to Wofford. They ended up finishing below five hundred in the southern conference. Terriers come to Chapel Hill and knock off a top twenty five North Carolina squad. And that's when the you know the eyebrow start raising what's going on with his team are they poised to be this massive disappointment and obviously once call. Anthony gets hurt. The wheels fall off from their breaking news. Call Anthony out four to six weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus. Well at that point you know maybe things are a little bit concerning. But they're going to get two. Acc conference play. You said it the ACC not the best conference in the world so they get to the ACC schedule. How's that go form? You look at their schedule and you said okay they can. They can weather the storm three straight home games in. Acc play against Georgia Tech Pit Clemson and they had games against Pittsburgh Virginia Tech Miami even a bad UNC team or even a a mediocre UNC. Team could go six in Owen. Those games it was kind of the the bottom half of the league and they went one and five losing the first five games of that stretch. Seventy nine seventy seven double-overtime Virginia tech knocking off North Carolina. I think that was almost getting the end. When you look back the schedule what would be the one moment that sort of pushed everything over to the point in return honestly I think it was after Columbia comes back a long ways away. Eleven Games without call Anthony but he will play tonight. Yeah the five hundred. Unc team suddenly. Jay has a lot of juice and he'd be Miami. Nc State then call and he comes back for a home game in Boston College and you know. They weren't very good at the time but they tended ten three and six in the ACC and you know the the narrative was kind of okay. If Cole Anthony Comes back the committee will look at them and say you know with call. Anthony this is an NCAA tournament team. He's going to be on the roster in the NCAA tournament they're going to factor that in so I think people started wondering can. Unc string together. Some wins and make a late run and in his first game back. You lose at home to Boston. College straight three other time. He's spoiled return. I think that was the sign that it's not going to happen so that's not. Obviously the only epic moment we all continue to think about from the season tickets back to the first game between North Carolina and Duke. The Duke Game was a game that that could have turned things around at least changed the narrative about Carolina and to lose in that fashion. Another late blown lead. Losing to your biggest rival do comes back not to be Carolina to me. That was that was a really low mon it just because it it could have been really a season changing moment for Carolina and the way it happened it just it kind of sent them even further down into the season

Satellites Track Status of Nation's Food Supply

"Have you ever wondered. How much food is growing right now? Across the globe. Satellite data is for the first time giving us nearly real time data. Uh on which trump's are being planted which crops might fail because of climate impacts like drought or disease and how many because of rain for us to being cut down for grazing land. Using this information we can better path famines reduced price volatility and work out how to feed a planet of nine billion people by twenty fifty. That's a WHO small undertaking and it will have huge impacts on everything from water usage to soil health to help us. Navigate is fascinating new science. I sit down with Dr Inbound. Becca Russia the director of NASA's food security and agricultural programmes. Dr Becca Russia is also the CO director of the center of Global Global Agriculture Monitoring Research and the University of Maryland in bow was rented by the US State Department for her work on food security and Technologies winning being the US Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Science Prize Innovation Research and education awarded by the White House's John Holdren the former assistant listen to president. Obama for Science and technology in bows background does in soil scientists in remote sensing and she received a PhD in Geographical Sciences. His from the University of Maryland in bows one of the world's leading experts on using remote sensing for global crop forecasting in addition to being achieved the balance. My cousin and one of my favorite people ever in Bell and her husband Dr Guido Portillo a molecular physicists. have to amazing daughters Natalie and I need it. I caught up with him about last week in Tel Aviv. which is where she was born? Yes born in Israel shortly after moved to the states until I was five and then came back from age five to eleven then moved to Kenya and then moved to the states in one sense cents. I feel very much like an outsider. In a very in another sense I feel very much home like I never left. And it's the first time I bring my two daughters here which is quite emotional for me for to have them here. Seeing where I grew up and a big part of my life and who I am so do you speak Hebrew with them in bow I do. I speak Hebrew with them and so for them. I think it's been An interesting experience to come to a country where everybody speaks what we speak at home and usually nobody else speak so kind of our secret language. So it's been fun to to see them connect and in some way feel very much also that this is part of of who they are two and what things you miss the most about Israel the sun in the winter having twenty degrees in January or end of December the familiarity of people and kind of the directness of people. Anything I missed that I also kind of get confronted with it and in other ways my friends really good friends. Family food vegetables fruit the so Tokyo food food in battle. One of your your light. One of the leading experts in the world on remote sensing in crop prediction. Why full you is is crop and food security such a big issue on a planet which currently has seven and a half billion people on it food security is probably one of the biggest challenges we face in this coming century today day? There's over eight hundred twenty million people food insecure around the world. That number is on the rise again. Due to several reasons one is increasing populations and increasing in demand on meet another big driver's been climate extremes and large droughts as we look forward and and different forecasts predict that we need to increase our food production fifty percent by twenty fifty and there's some variability around that number. But I think some of what's been driving that is one increasing populations to increasing middle middle classes in places like India and China which means there's a much bigger demand for meat. And if you think about the amount of food you need to produce meat versus Vegetarian anti at that obviously has big demands. It's quite an alarming trend and at the same time. Obviously there's a lot of technologies and changes in terms of our production. What we need to do is to be able to increase our food production on the same amount of land? There's not a lot more land that we can really bring into cultivation to meet that demand so that's pretty alarming like increasing food supply by fifty percent by two thousand fifty which is only now thirty years away with how growing the amount of land. How are we going to do that? Part of it is increasing increasing. The intensity of of our captivation of it has to do with the technology of seeds. And I think we're continuing to see increases in yields are low. Not as fast as that was in the past. Some of the big increases we're seeing today is from increasing the number of seasons since I think if you look at Brazil for example with two mays seasons. That's increased tremendously the amount of food. That's being being produced looking at different varieties and more whether it's drought resistant varieties. That's going to get as part of the way there at least to your specialty is helping countries knit together. Analyses of determining what the future food production season is going to look like. Why is that important to know a lot of what I do and try to understand what food production is GONNA be for this current season as it's developing and that's really important because today our world is it's very much globalized interconnected? So what's the quantity of of wheat that's going to be grown in. Russia has an impact not only in Russia but it really has a global impact. Let's really important taft. Transparent information to have global information of how much food is being produced at at any given time that has an impact on how a government decides to to plan their actions. I am policies. It has an impact on humanitarian organisations and trying to forecast where there might be food shortages. And how do you mobilize as soon as possible. and has obviously a big the impact on markets and international food prices given the importance of all that. How did we use to track? Whether it's a country that has a system of farmers. There's reporting everything that they grow in tracking it that way. Various statistical surveys to make sure that there's a statistical representation to that and obviously some countries do a better job at that in a better accuracy and timeliness than other countries. Do I mean the start of satellite monitoring for agriculture. Goes back nearly as early as satellite. Remote Sensing doesn't in general in the seventies and how the US got involved in. This was a big drought in Russia. One of the big wheat production next countries at the time of USSR the US wasn't aware of that drown in that impact and in what ended up happening is the US sold. We'd at subsidized prices. Essentially and then had to fight back in the international markets at much higher prices because there was was a shortage who was I did at Sparta Program at the time that Usda and NASA had together called Lacey and the objective of that really was to try to monitor what was going on outside of the US in the major food production especially we at the time we in corn production and the idea was that satellites were really the only way ah the US could look at other countries in the world getting a sense of what they were producing. And if you look today at what. The vision is for Satellite Remote Sensing and agriculture. It's not all that different. Then when it was over forty years ago. What is different? Today is our capability to finally reach that goal. So you had this vision forty years ago being able to know what another country's crop would yield like what change in satellite so that we now actually have that granular level detail to be able to know with better accuracy. So few do things. One is the quality of satellite data itself the frequency the resolution and resolution. If you think about it is what objects you can discern on the ground from a pixel which is how we look at the imagery. It's the satellite data being open and free at at multiple resolution. New satellites that have come into play both from the European side. Something called the sentinels which today imaging the world at ten meter resolution close to every three to five days which is looked along with land sat satellite for example from the. US giving US close to every three days view the world. So where would you say ten meters just to break it down to that. Means every pick cell is ten meters. That's right it's ten by ten meter resolution. So that means you can can discern quite a lot and if you think about looking at the whole world at ten meter resolution. That's a huge amount of information. And so we've had huge advances in terms of the satellite data also commercial satellite and a lot of cubesats that are going into space which are now giving us close to daily data three-meter resolution and then our compute power to be able to process that kind of imagery and advances in modeling and computational technologies to really be able to utilize that data has been a huge revolution in terms of what we're able to do so go all these lights. NEW ONES IS ACCU- ones. Those are like really teeny little satellites. That are going out. That's right. So they're often termed as shoebox size satellites. They have been sending up in in fleet so I think today. They're close to four hundred or more earth-observing satellites that are called cubesats so the data quality is not as high. They don't have as many spectral bands for example as as some of the other satellites but they're cheap to send up and they've also revolutionized the space of commercial satellite. So those aren't free. They're much more affordable than than they would have been in the past. What are you looking for right? So we're trying to basically look at signals us of crops so one of the things we're trying to understand is where are the crops of the world being grown and there's still huge certainty around that one would think that we would know that very well and And there's still a lot of room for us to improve that second of all is which crops are being grown wear and if you think about it every year that's changing so there's a lot lot of crop rotations and so what that really means you want to be able ideally to know what's being grown in each field during the growing season so that's one of the the big objectives is to be able to classify Within the season where things are being grown to be able to both discern how much of an area is being grown. That's one part of the production equation and the other side is what the yield is going to be and so what we WANNA do. It's really important to have time series of data to look at it through time to look at the volition of the development of crops. But but when you said earlier that we don't actually know where food is being grown. What does that mean if you think about it as a map of where the the world's croplands we have several of those maps but we're trying to continuously increase the accuracy of that? And if you think about crop expansion or changes in where croplands are for example title Brazil and and huge expansion of croplands. There is really important to be able to update that as frequently as possible in particular in in areas where there is a lot of change and we still need better information on where the global croplands are and then more specifically within season a crop type maps.

"The bride or the groom decides this is a great idea and someone else in the you know the other get a significant other has a different idea of what a wedding should look like so I open my black club Chicago email today which is great news source it is I don't get to block club and they got the story about the wedding of Dominic and Kristin the barrio and how they had a Portillo's wedding went eight cheese fountain and I'm reading this thing and I'm like I go to it's something I've I eat a lot at least once a week at least what I maybe I should I should I don't know I'm not gonna ask anybody about it I was there last week it's it's it's a choice that I make I read this story today and I'm like this is genius it was good it was it was a nice fancy wedding except they got you know they get to choose from which I don't know if it makes it less fancy but it certainly makes more delicious and that's why I want to talk to them about this so Kristin are you with us. yes I'm here and I know you're the bride down make your the groom hi this is how we're gonna play this out all right here yeah so who's who's idea and but I want them to ask the bride the question tear Dominic so you know it's like the dating game writer Doug like the newly wed game you're gonna just have to and you know let let her answer the questions and then we'll get your side of the story whose idea was this Kristin. it was a good idea. okay and how did he propose this question to you not to not get married but how do you bring up the whole idea portals. basically I mean we both love Portillo's itself when he brought it up I have no issue with that the we were actually a deciding between part hello again my mom Audi's and other than that winning out so long yes when he when he brought it up I would I would call it and I was completely game for you didn't you didn't stop for even a second thank okay maybe my family members my mom somebody's got this idea of what this wedding supposed to be that's like bigger or somehow fancier that wasn't a consideration email not at all all rights I think if you get one of the family members they like to control things right for this you know there's also somebody and I've noticed this happening to dads there's always somebody that's like in the bridal party type zero it's going to be at one of the you know like if you get it did you do you interesting to do something and you did you do like a bridesmaid kind of a vent somewhere like you know they have a party downtown or somewhere else couple easy for the way. the bachelor party. yeah yeah David he did they know that this is going to happen at the bachelor party and be resisting about that he did not all right they do not know. so what I what was the reaction people got sick. so I honestly don actually kept it a secret from until about a week before the wedding that she found we're going to be there. before and I'm actually I I loved it she thought that hello so I think Dominic. for me but what I found out I had actually been talking to my girlfriend couple weeks prior I let them know that we're told in the late night and and one of them asked me about that she found and they were like you should totally do it this would be amazing and I'm like no not at all like where we already have way too much and so much food already like there's no reason why we need that she found on the whole the entire time Dominic had planned it that we were going to have the cheek so. obviously I shot them all text message now the guide you will not believe that. we are only found on some. how many people did you have at this. I thank you bye. I mean I did I had to pry but like you know what's a such a back for the food for that if you're just doing Portillo's on us all you know I think you I think there's a little bit less clarification Portillo's was on late night snack it was a full meal you know catered from you know our our home you know piccolos was delivered at ten PM..

"Slugging his research i understand ben fox ruben i'm oscar gonzales apple unloading some a big mac book news today oscar you're on top of it what what's going on so they upgraded and killed a some mac books a so early mac book twelve inch no longer their new mac book air that was just four ninety nine their entry level no long on apple's website so they are gone okay i but what they did as part of their backs school program now only ten ninety nine a mac book air it's been a little bit with its retina display an available for nine ninety nine a thousand bucks should for college students only let's keep that yes none of us qualify for this discount so yes not anymore so effectively what they've done i mean yes there's a college student discount which i don't think it's actually that that that that sort of throwing up donut folks the way they're giving something to you but they're taking away a lot right effectively increased the entry cost to buy a mac right is now if it went from the ninety nine ninety nine mac book air to now there's ten ninety nine new mac book air with the retina right right to be fair that nine ninety nine mac book air starting to look pretty pretty old pretty miserable especially after they updated the mac book air and as much as i really wanted to see them keep that price at nine ninety nine for the newest mac book air you knew they weren't gonna do that and i thought the new one anyway so yeah i mean i have one an icon regretted 'cause the keyboard is not great now speaking of which then the new mac book air in the new macbook pros to get the new survey jen mac a keyboard which still still the butterfly keyboard stood about keyboard but there is supposed to be like a little bit of rubber underneath please give it a little bounce to protect from a debris in dust that that's what they do with the second generation one other thing that i think they did that was smart was killing off the twelve inch mac book has that was a really strange edition inside the lineup after they already moved in the pro any air 'em what what exactly was the value of the twelve inch mac up in the air was definitely the the twenty eighteen air definitely made it a mac book relevant right much faster heavy sbc portillo's delivered slimmer sexually almost the same size twelve inch mac book so 'em yeah not surprised that it's dead yeah yeah it's it's thick he'll be as the i phone assay too so it's going back to your whole point about you know getting rid of getting all the budget options all the budget options sorry you're so yeah sorry it yet if you're on a budget doesn't care bye bye all right so next up the research teams out to figure out which is the best voice assistant when it came to recognizing requests were specific brand but what did they find out a what was really interesting about this why is that there have been a lot of studies already that have looked into different places then this one really not only reinforced by a showed how strong google assistant is when compared to other voice assistance so it wasn't even close like if you're asking about different brands like jet blue or chevy or starbucks just any sort of basic questions like what is chevy or where do i buy starbucks google assistant in general was able to answer it was something like ninety percent of the questions especially on your smartphone allow whereas alexa siri and bixby weren't even close it was about fifty percentage point difference lougee if you really wanna get a voice assistant that's gonna work for any number of questions i've seen a lot of these reports and unfortunately the truth is is that google assistant continues the outpaced the competition titian by a pretty significant margin does the burning question and like if you're if you're not go home like mine is like is it worth upgrading to a google lineup of list assistance maybe maybe i know alford if he were here i'll never did that that for that very reason you know he saw the the google assistant had actually been functioning better and decided to switch the good news with alexa is is that it works much better what smart home capability and then it has a lot more of those smart home partnership so it's not like it's terrible

H. showing a lot of positive signs exactly have talked about how I get it what you guys are sherry shop walls from now on the Mike Ditka type doesn't work or will start that dinosaurs don't get too young players being a manager like long AS one of players most likely result what happens out there that men either we love you she Barbie a question however just make sure it doesn't go forward yes this is a pattern and it's not but I think made a big deal out of it which is what it and as long as he's brought about the potential but this we're still talking about it and he's gonna say sorry I'll make sure I apologize and a need for but you know what it is what it is Dick the guys are going to do whatever they can to get back into this you've got it you know all the facts based on the amount of payroll that rickets has invested in this scene it's easy for you to say that he was under chief it's just but they're still possibility for this they get better and the ball on a lawn and make some noise and everybody was hating on feel always win with these draft which takes on the straights however what you said when you first realized he wants to make sure that the calls are always competitive and not always continuously gonna be make a run for the playoffs and that's what we're doing that's what he's done no David David thank you and and the thing I've always said as a cubs fan is I wanted to be the cardinals as much as I dislike the cardinals as a sports fan I've wanted to be in it every year with the chance to win the World Series and it's not ideal and take off the way they're playing but like sunset I believe you can still win it this year with the right moves like and go back to Heidi the one that I don't worry about having I was a winner how does an all star how does an MVP candidate well you're not teaching winners champions lessons get over that he's a winner with guys who your moulding in you you have to worry about maybe but it resolves a winner Cabey's a winner hobbies a winner with these guys they are the first to know when they screw up and when they don't run and I will come back and Katie said it the other day it will never happen again and you hope the same thing with a hobby that he realizes it domino climb time here at ESPN one thousand without so David Kaplan is down on the cubs and so is the person taking a positive approach was so it says our life right I know exactly so I mean bottom line is they even with them supposedly under achieving their still tied for first place they still have the talent to win the division and nobody in this division is running away from a with it either I've I've just been school for watching what the cops and some sax fan so but it seems like anytime the cubs were the growers also the out of the car now so they still have they still have the opportunity to win the vision and like you said before all you got to do is get in there and then I have the right match up in the playoffs right now on as far as the socks if they sweep the cubs great I'd be happy even if they split with what the cops but I still think I mean I I just don't think that Rick Renteria is the manager going forward to try to teach these guys how to win consistently in the major leagues because it seems like whenever they get close to that five hundred record then they lose a game or they go on out you know three four game losing streak and they got to climb back up on the mountain and I understand about development but you also have to try to establish that winning culture with these young guys as well and teach them how to win in the major leagues I mean that's what the cubs did when they hit when they got rid of bail Swain and let me go ahead if if if Joe's available you want history to repeat itself and get rid Renteria in grab gel I I would be fine with that yes yeah as ironic is that would be I would I would do finally I would love Joe man that that manager yeah and now a lot of people say look they it was really weird his extension they did an under the radar contract extension with Renteria but if you can get Joe Maddon when you're ready to win I think yes lightning could strike twice and why wouldn't you go after him could be exactly what you want to okay take one more here of down really quick let me squeeze in mark real quick marquee Iranians pin one thousand hello mark over you I'm good thank you I am really worried about because I watched I was able to watch the game last week when they're playing Atlanta yeah but a person started No Way Out Blair brings the relief pitcher Hey beat up the best one for the first if you're going to a double four nine results follows look it's very very bad signals to me it's time for somebody to start up what are the whole posterior if you'll excuse the expression hi yeah market we're up against the clock or it just means that Rizzo in and a bright have to be battered sort of like what we said with the the Blackhawks in there on when your center around caning taser stars have to be stars and the cubs stars have to play like stars they're not as deep and it's it's it's more important now than ever they're not as deep as they used to be they ate in so hi V. Bryant contrary this result they have to be stars in former has to be better than just an average player he cannot be a replacement level player so we'll continue to talk and Monday should be a great show because we'll be recapping the cubs and white Sox who won the tickets to the gold Cup of dollar would be zero moralis junior won the tickets from the.

"Bruce, a lot of guys, though who big time players in major league baseball who struggle and has struggled in the postseason. I'm giving one is a perfect example. Offensive Soryono had an all world now whole fame career, obviously. A very, very good majorly. Correct. Correct. Correct. Funds Soriano in the two thousand three postseason and I appreciate the call Bruce had as bad a postseason as I've ever seen in my life. He flailed at every slider that every pitcher, twirl, whether it was Branston Royal, Josh Beckett. You gave me the guy flailing. That was his plate discipline, and it's way wrong on Sanchez has been so much better this year. We'll get it back that wanting to game here in the bottom half of the fifth inning ends Portillo. He's not going to field on that pitch last year. It's not hitting out of ballpark. He's a completely different player but said to long branch New Jersey is up next on the fan with you. Thank you. I'm doing well with that my brother. Listen, I want us to want to speak at the Yanks, and everything. I think that it was a great move, and everything you did with the three out of you know, in for that. That one batter face those a great move by Boone. Also think that. Should be considered for manager of the year at this point. Well, there's a lot of baseball after be played..

"After being checked out. Good news there in the same game. Portillo was on the mound. Cole hamels of the cubs was at the plate. This is what happened while bench. Coach Mark Loretta was doing an in game interview. Give a listen. Mark back back back back back back back. Paul handles. Is the game. The whole one yesterday hope today. Iran. Smile full. We all want. That's pretty good right there. You had Len Kasper Jim DJ's in the cubs television network with Mark Loretta. Yeah. He had a hole in one on Sunday. And then last night a homerun off Rick Portillo in the exhibition game Nolan aeronautical did knowing Aaron out. Oh things. Bill quite a show and batting practice. One this one he's hit high deep left field Cuevas. We'll Albuquerque Nolan are Nado choosing barely gone in the United soaps lead us down to two one. Well, if you bought a ticket to come see the Rockies here in Albuquerque, you're probably hoping to see Nolan are an auto in general and then to see him hit a home run. Just barely got enough of it. Aaron judge was on the Michael case show, and he was asked if he spoken to the Yankees about a contract extension. We haven't we haven't spoken about that. You know, I got got a job to do on the field. You know? So for the most part, you know, I let my agent handle that kind of stuff. So for me. I'm just gonna go out there as long as you know, I'm still under contract doing my thing. I'm just going to go out there and keep playing so I'll let. Guys, making a big buck handle that. The Padres are hammering the ball this spring many Margo had himself a day on Monday. One to do the air. Deep left again grown is going back. "Fast food buffets. If you're serving for the Clemson Tigers. What would you put out? I mean, the president likes fast food no harm in that two presidents ago did as well. I don't know how many presidents ago was Bill Clinton anyway. But the president said because of the furloughed workers, we don't have enough people to serve a nice dinner for the guys we didn't want him to wake. So we got him some fast food, and then he made a little political hay with that. And the guys all stood in line and a whole bunch of big Macs and pizzas and fries and stuff like that. But if I was going to put out like my favorite fast food. It would be Burger King walkers if it'd be arby's curly fries, I will do McDonald's. French fries too. Because it just seems to be un-american to not. I don't know. If I go to Portillo's because I don't think Portillo's is fast food. It's fast casual food. Kevin you kind of the food expert around here. Do you have any thoughts about this? Well, I was sort of thinking is breakfast, lunch and dinner type thing because I've got a long range of food. I used to be a fast food junkie, John. And it turns out it's not exactly healthy for you. Eat every day allegedly and some reporting on that. So I haven't really had much fast food over the past two or three years back in my heyday. All right, McDonald's breakfast, the greatest of all time sausage, egg and cheese mcmuffin dynamite with a hash. Brown. Mix in an orange juice, by the way, they're pancakes and sausage. Yes. Off the charts. Oh my God. I don't know. What that is. I'm not sure if it's food. It's delicious. I know now now no fast food buffet is complete without the cheese ready to crunch from Taco Bell, legendary hall of fame type fast food item right there. How cheesy Gordy crunchy crunch maybe mix in a case of DEA? And then I think just that the Big Mac is so iconic. They gotta have the Big Mac involved here. I think so I mean, if I were the president even of what's my favorite food, even the guys that is our hamburger that's America's iconic burger a flag on their. Apple pie right after that. Or from McDonald's. Get the apple pies for McDonald's caution hot filling. Oh, man, fillings mystic. This. Are you guys pro or anti this move from Trump here serving the fast food? I was anti him. Then saying, you know, the Republicans are getting the job done, but we have to serve this crap food to be guys because of the Democrats kind of hilarious, though, we get it. If you're if you're like, a world class, d one athlete. I mean, these guys are these guys are on a crazy strict diet, and I know some of them there are some social media actions. Like, wow, I thought he was kidding about the whole fast food thing. But you also saw like blind blaming packing their suit coats with cheeseburgers, and they had three big Macs. Really? That's a college students dream, right? There is a fast food buffet. Right. I wonder what their stomachs are like today. Great for the trip. Home is probably wasn't wasn't the best. My problem was I don't think that food was hot. No. Yeah. That's a good point. I was thinking about that too. Cold fast food does not. Not once it's like, Glock, Gandhi, even like room temperature. It's mostly mostly gone. And then you hate it back up again. And you can't bring him back to lighten ass is gone. You can't. And so I thought well, how do we know for sure? But only sliders. How do we know that they were called or not warm well because there weren't those chafing dishes with the little heating elements underneath so they were probably warm when somebody pulled up in an SUV, and they threw them on the back, and then they drove him over. Then they gotta go through security, then they got a pile them up and the president talked for a while. That's true. Those burgers are just sitting there going eat me eat me. But nothing this guy can do. Isn't controversial right? Like, he just got a bunch of fast food for college kids, and it's become this. Shame on everybody some of its self imposed from Trump when he tossed the coin for the national championship football game was the national champions last year right in Atlanta. What was the one where he flipped it wrong? He didn't even flip it kind of people. I know. Pancake. And then people beat him up for that. And I'm like, we're showing our colors America. If we're going to be mad at Donald Trump for feeding crime Tigers. I mean, that's hilarious. They're college kids. These guys eat fine, dining everyday anyways. You know, how much millions of dollars a Clemson type football program puts in their nutritional. Eating whatever, they want the healthiest best stuff, you could possibly think. And then the president goes here fast food away stuff your face, boys. I don't know if I was a college kid. I mean, if I walked in that when I was in college, I would like mother of good. If you told us about this. I would have really tried for the national championship. Forget the trophy and fifteen and we're going to have a pile of. Fast food high fantasy. I'm ed. I'm in. I'm putting in two days three days, whatever whatever takes coats. Let's go after two fifty two. So that's on my Facebook page. You can't comment there. I'm WGN king. John on Facebook.
