"No. Wolf. Wolf. What's his arm? The detective that he always played on the holodeck was, oh man, you're digging deep on the character. I don't know. Well, they made a reference to it in the last episode. I need to check that last episode. I haven't watched. I haven't watched for yet. So I've been out of town and Dixon hill. Right? Dixon hill. Is that right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it sounds right. Okay. We'll update you guys on a future podcast about this. You're trying to get to something actual content here. I keep throwing sound drops at you. Yeah. So do you have, do you have Tom Cruise talking about his Porsche by chance? Oh man, that would have been great. Except no substitute. But no, I do not have that. Right, that's too bad. I have thunder from days of thunder. I don't know. That was horrible. And the thunder row? That Garth, Garth is done. Anyway, okay, so here we are. We're going to talk about something that is just announced about Portia. I mean, Portia is just one of those product that just embodies performance and luxury fast boom. Man, they're going all electric, aren't they? Yeah, so interesting how so this is under the Volkswagen group umbrella. Audi VW. And they're carefully segmenting their brands to. VW by contrast. They just came out with the ID buzz. We talked about that. We've got a video out on YouTube. Sorry. The other Jedi from episode one. And Obi-Wan Kenobi. We see on my brain did that and put both of those guys together today. Yes. I guess the press release unveiling of that. But VW is not going all in on EV. Now they have a plan, but they still have a lot of stuff out there that they're going to continue to do with the solar or whatever. Correct. This is something I feel like Stellantis could learn from. Instead of trying to basically, you know, it's celebrate the differences in the brands under your management, right? I like that train of thought there, yeah. I like that. You know? Ram. Fiat B Fiat. But Porsche is gonna be Porsche. Now, this is the 7 18 Boxster is the one that I always think of..

"Is a big spread on. That's what that's what you see If you want to say funny, get clean, get intensity more expensive on highways and affluent neighborhoods and on service roads Toe highway, So people are desperate driving along. They need that name and jump off the highway. Don't buy whatever's there, And so those prices tend to be higher. So you want to shop around. You could do that. That's fine, sometimes find gasoline on the same brand of gas. Same great again. 20 cents higher per gallon on stations that are within a mile of each other. All right, Robin. Thank you. Fading out Rabbit. Enjoy your trip, and we'll talk to you next week. Thanks Next. All right now, Paul is calling with a question about a push. Yes, I I about 17 2009 11 career with the manual transmission was back in those back in November. Was on 1 35 out here in Long Island, and I literally couldn't get the car into gear. I was going from 65th, or from fifth to fourth. Whatever it was Andre was stuck in neutral that want to force it in. I eventually got it into gear, got off the highway and pulled On day again. I couldn't get the car in the year. I don't know what's going on. So I pulled over, shut it off, waiting about five minutes and was able to get it into certain came home. But it was extremely clunky. When I brought it to the dealership. They told me that I had dry bushings, and they lubricated them. Now the car's been okay. It doesn't feel quite right. I don't know if it's it's psychological or not, but I was wondering if you could Comment on that. What that maybe pull. We just happen to have before. We just happen to have in house of Portia expert who rebuilds his own transmissions, don't you, don't you, Ian. Yeah. Yes, I've done that. But I would defer to Jeff as the as the transmission expert. If you don't mind because I care about this caller. Yeah, well, nice to hear from you. Thank you. So much for calling. Sure. Um Did it say transmission emergency on the dashboard. No, it did not. I president. I forgot that. You didn't get that as a warning. I forgot if anything came up because I was It's busy trying to save your own life, right? Yeah, it doesn't sound right. The bushing thing doesn't sound right to me because you know if you would, you would notice. Ah, gradual. You know, decline or be harder to shift over time. The fact that just 11 2nd you could use the You know you could shift in the next second. You couldn't You know, it sounds like something I don't know, Jeff. It sounds like the mechanical Zarate. Wait. Let's clarify this for all listeners. We speaking about a shift the problem rather than a transmission problem. Are you asking me? No. You know, let's go back to. I'm sorry. Good Now, Jeff, go ahead. I just wanted you to clarify whether this is a transmission problem or a shift the problem. Honestly, to me. This problem sounds like sounds like an electrical problem to me, because if he was able to shut the car off and do an ignition cycle and started up and drive it back home again, I agree with Ian's analogy about the quote, linkage pushing lubrication. The manual training attention. All right, That's the manual manual. Yeah, yeah. It is a manual, but it's still you know, it's those has Elektronik hooked into it and computer that controls that. Believe it or not, the shifter module on the car could be a potential cause. You know? Ah, What your again push. Was it a 2017 2017 correra? Uh, I support you know what you have to do? You have to bring it to Jeff. Yeah, I'll bring love to scan it feel and see if there are any trouble codes in the system. Well, I brought it to a Portia dealer because I was doing a tire swap anyway, you know from us. I put winter tires on my car every year. Um, so I was doing the tire swap Had them look at that happen to be the same time. And they said it was you know, I've got the bill right in front of me. Well, they didn't charge me for it. They said bushings lubricated found bushings dry. Now I go on the reading list Forum, which is ah, Portia site. You guys probably know And someone else on there had a similar experience, and I forgot exactly what he said It was, but it was it was not a bushing problem. It was bigger than that. And he was that's usually the cables and everything. All right. Give it to me. You It could be a clutch issue. I really think it needs a second opinion would sound like the right thing to do. How is it driving now? It feels okay. You know, with covert. We're all my driving as much as we used to, But it feels okay. A I kind of think it's it's still not as smooth as it once was, But that could be psychological, You know? Um, it feels okay. Be simple Psychological. Yeah. All right, Paul. Go. See, Listen. Go see Jeff next. I mean, next Saturday, between eight and 12. If it works for you, I'll be at the shop After the show you could come in. We go for a little cruise. I love driving 9 11 spots in the house. And how can you reach you? How can pull reach you there? Yeah, I couldn't reach you. Well, you could reach us at at at New York. "Believed that nothing would happen. I got to my friend's house and then Sometime in the middle of the night. Windows started just blasting out of the house. You hear the noise described as a freight train, and it does sound like that house was shaking. It sounded like a bomb blasts outside. You could see the door in the attic jumping The walls were shaking and the ceiling was moving and everything was swaying. And we were just huddled together in this closet. I was sure we weren't gonna make it through this. Nobody spoke and we were just looking into each other's eyes. All I could think about in that closet was my birds. Don broke and I'd never seen anything like that. I didn't even know a scene like that was possible. It was something out of the end of the world. We walked out of the space where the door once Woz and you couldn't see grass or asphalt or anything. The entire ground was covered with roof tiles. I absolutely need to get home. I was anxious to the point of of like almost having a breakdown because I had to get back to my birds. Ah, guy next door, noticed that I was very upset and he came over and said, I'll drive you to your house. He pulls out of the garage. This Portia 9 11 Targa Black on black. Shiny. "Angry heavily where people say Oh, they're protesting their different There's a difference. Between the protesters and a very big difference. She's right. I'm with Portia Portia 100%, right. Her communities being burned by the way, Joe Biden didn't go visit. Any of the damage because he doesn't want to be photographed in front of the damage that his voters created the arson that his voters lit the looting that his voters looted. S so there's no photo op of Joe Biden with destruction behind him because they know it would be used in campaign ads because his voters did that now the key part first of all, Portia is right. There's a big difference between protesters and rioters. She is a common sense person. She I guess lives in Kenosha, and she knows the difference between peace and war. And the CNN doesn't nobody does. But she said it was key. I'm going to be honest, I was told to go off this paper. But I just cant you need the truth. Now the press corps there. I'm sure immediately zeroed in on a Porsche and went up to her afterward and said, Who gave you the talking points to go up and read from their script? But here's the thing nobody did. Because the news media is not a legitimate news media. Joe Biden's traveling press corps are a gang of boot lickers, and that's as polite as I can be, because you know I'm on the radio here. So there it is, as Joe Biden and that's the first person after Joe rambled incoherently forever, and everybody at CNN loved it, So there's no need to go off the paper, but I can't I was told to go off this paper, but I can't now I was told to go off this paper, but I can't. Where are the news stories on that? Where? The new stories on Porsche? Who do you think gave those that paper? I was thinking, Do you think told her to go off this paper? Who gave her that The answer is we'll never know because not a single fake news organization in America will find out even though it's a fascinating question. And if you had one inquisitive bone in your body, and you were traveling with the press covering the Biden campaign I used to do this. I would immediately make a beeline for this woman. Say, Portia, tell me who gave you the piece of paper and told you to talk from this And they pointed a campaign staffer over there And then you'd have a news story, but they don't do that. Because they're not journalists there, Butt kissers. They give you a tongue bath from top to bottom. If you're a Democrat, and they tried to murder your family, if you're a Republican and their creepy they're creepy people. These honestly if here the news business, you're decent person quit. Leave. Andi Joe Biden is of course, just lunatics. How about number eight. Now, this is Joe Biden saying that he can't You know he wants the rich pay their fair share because he says that he said yesterday that the top 1/10 of 1% will pay more in Texas, and that'll apparently take care of everything. I've done the math on this again and again. It's complete lie. You can take all the one top 1% this year and they'd spend it in about three months. And then all the rich people who create wealth that pay taxes on it would be broken forever. But that's what they do in Venezuela is what they're trying to do. In New York. They're there. The left these air, not liberals. This is the left. The left is not liberal. The left is authoritarian and or totalitarian. They're not liberal at all. They're the most liberal people you're going to find anyway. So here's Joe Biden with respect tax plan. Oh, no, You won't pay more to be s. You're going to be paying more taxes and everything, And he's gonna tax businesses on that. Pass it along to you. That's one of the big Democrat slash media lies where they raised taxes on businesses. Nobody pays for his Joe Biden with his tax plan, but he can't tell you what it is because someone would shoot him. Somebody would shoot him if he told you what his tax plan is not want to punish anybody, but ever should pay fair share laughter. I won't shoot, But here's the deal. You can't for every single thing I'm proposing without raising your taxes. One penny. That's what he pays for every single thing without raising your taxes one penny, if you believe that you're a moron, and you're so easily lied to that man, man. Oh, man. Oh, man. Oh, man managed Say as we continue to deal with the crazy new world that we've created for ourselves here, with the Wuhan and the economy and all this stuff, we still need to be smart about the way that we do business. Luckily, there's stamps dot com to make things a whole lot easier for all of us. Remember Chris getting hurt, though? He says it happened at that local Cajun seasoning factory in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Fish Fry. They wouldn't comment, either. It was the middle of the night, Chris and some other workers were trying to build a support for a crane that could hoist up heavy sacks spaces. A metal beam dangled from a forklift and Chris scrambled underneath to hold it in place. I really don't know how much it weigh three d, a £600 piece of metal Just try like 20 feet long, Chris says. The guy at the other end let go without any morning and the beam fell down onto Chris's shoulder. I felt something pop heard it pub. And then pain just throbbing. My arm's about to fall off. Ain't Chris says he cussed a lot and sat down on the floor. Eventually, he got to see a doctor. Who told him he needed a memory. 'Bubble Boy' Disease Helped By Advances In Gene Therapy

"Sometimes rare diseases allow for scientists to pioneer bold, new ideas. That's been the case with a condition that affects fewer than a hundred babies a year in the US, those babies are born without a functioning immune system and the quest to cure them has led to advances in technique called gene therapy NPR's, Richard Harris reports the disease is called severe combined immunodeficiency or skid met Portia Stanford. Pediatrician says you might be familiar with it. It was made famous I guess in the mid seventies. When the bubble boy was described in in Documenta documentary. And I think he captured the imagination of a lot of people David Vetter spent most of his short life in a plastic bubble to protect him from infection. He died at the age of twelve things have come a long way since then all babies born in the United States are now screened for this. Edition and standard treatment a bone marrow transplant succeeds more than ninety percent of the time when it's done promptly yet. Skit remains a source of great interest to researchers. This is one of those diseases in which probably more doctors and scientists studying the disease than patients who have the disease in the nineteen nineties European scientists actually cured it in some patients. Using gene therapy this technique involves removing defective. Blood cells from a patient inserting, a new gene with the help of a virus? And then putting the cells back into the body, though cells than build up the patient's immune systems, Dr Donald Kohn at UCLA says at first it looked really good and initially twenty patients, they all had immune recovery. But over time five of them went to develop leukemia to scramble to figure out how to inject new genes into cells without triggering that blood cancer, and they're cautiously optimistic they've succeeded since then there have been gradual improvements in the technique the latest advance involving eight infant. Shows that a short dose of chemotherapy helped the new cells take root, the infants ended up with apparently healthy immune systems. I am thrilled to CDs. Outstanding results Eveline among Sasha at Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis is first author of a paper reporting these findings in the New England Journal of medicine to be able to see these babies in my clinic now as toddlers Israeli very rewarding they live normal lives. There are not any different from my daughter's today most children with skid who get a bone marrow transplant also need ongoing treatment, including lifetime injections of antibodies. Jennifer puck a pediatrician at UC San Francisco and a study collaborator says infants who got the newest gene therapy don't need that medication and they're growing. Normally they're getting cold like everybody else, and they take it over infection. So I would say that that is a cure. Of course, she adds that they'll be watched carefully for signs of leukemia and to see if the. Of the therapy are wearing off in her mind. The key is finding these children early through newborn screening before they start to get life threatening infections that had typically been the case. And now we're seeing happy bouncy little newborns. Just look perfectly normal. This is not only good news for those rare families the disease provides a good opportunity for all the scientists to develop even newer, gene therapy techniques, for example, instead of inserting a healthy, gene. Matt Portius at Stanford. His used a powerful gene editing technique called crisper to correct the genetic error in skid blood cells. It works with human cells in a dish. And this really sets the stage than for testing the approach in a clinical trial. Hopefully in the next twelve to eighteen months. All this makes the leukemia setback from the nineteen nineties feel like a fading memory Cohn at UCLA said for more than a decade. It seemed that the field was a dead end. But no more just nice to see. Another success for

Ellen and Portia Encountered Shark While Paddle Boarding

"There are these little tiny baby leopard sharks that are really close to the shore, and you can tell the leopard sharks because they have little skin covered leopard-print and. It's what happens when you cross a shark with a New Jersey housewife what happened. So leopard sharks are dangerous to humans. They eat little fish and things, but but here's a tidbit that I found out when I told someone that we are seeing leopard sharks leopard sharks. Great whites. Yeah. That's why they're there for the great whites. And. They said on the news the other day that this year there are more sharks in the southern California than ever before. Yeah. And there's a scientific reason for that. You see there used to be less? And now, there's more. Last year someone spotted two eight foot great whites out in front of our house. And now they're back and grown, and there are ten foot sharks out near our house. And it's a little scary because Porsche paddle boards every single day out in the ocean. And I keep meaning to tell her about the great white. But apparently great whites won't attack until they're adults as long as they're under twelve feet. That's when they become adults. They're juveniles when their ten feet, but who's out there measuring with the tape measure? Hold on. I don't know. I need to know if you're gonna eat me. You keep biting me. I can't measure you properly. I haven't seen the sharks. But I did. It's amazing living right there on the beach because you see so much wildlife. The other day, I was walking on the beach, and I saw a seal and the so Ashton meal a live on the same beach, and I was walking toward their house. And then there was a little baby seal up on the beach, and it looked hungry. And I was worried about it. And I asked what was wrong, and it it's lips were sealed. So. Anyway, we call the marine wildlife rescue, and some neighbors, we all took turns because are dogs out there, and we were botching it and keeping all the dogs away. And it was trying to throw sand on its back with his little hands. They held little hands and head this door little face little nose and kept looking at me like knew who I was just kept staring at me, and it was talking about working on that seventy show and doing movies with Kristen bell. Now that I think about it that could've been meal Kuna said. It may have been she was tiny like that like meal is anyway, I checked in the morning, and the seal was gone and the cutest thing you want to see a photo. Oh, take one. I wanted to. Any candidate was serious. Do you actually believe, sir? Any libertarian a chance of winning in twenty sixteen or would have a chance of winning in twenty twenty. I actually do but not the kitten. I actually do. But not the way this. The the system is working now in the candidates that they they necessarily run. But even if they ran of Jesus himself, the two party system, which controls everything just won't allow it. Well, I have to tell you that if it was Jesus he actually controls everything. So I think he'd be short circuit but other than maybe maybe right? Well, he was forced to God. We. We would have these debate. What will you do when you're first saying office and on the last debate? I finally said I had enough. I said listen, I'm gonna handle first day in office. None of us are going to have him first day in office. Do you see how silly we look to the world that we're actually believing? We might get elected to presidency is going gonna happen. Let's do something else. Please long. We can change people's minds all truth. I think that the campaign for presidency. Changes America far more than selecting president. Because when you selector precedent that person becomes bound tied and beholden to the establishment, which created this. So I don't want to president. I wanted to stage. So John, I actually think a lot of Americans agree with that. And I think that that is the the people are changing and starting to turn against the system itself, which I think in itself is healthy. It's what George Washington begged Americans to do in his farewell address stay away from the two party system. So I I mean, I think they're that. We we are on the the verge of profound change in everything in governments in borders in money, finance technology, communication, everything is going to change by twenty thirty. Why do you know any millennial for example, one of my my campaign workers as millennia on? She convinced me to use an AVI all the tar for my picture. I wasn't happy. So I had half real half talks. I probably got two thousand Gs Agri I'm going to vote for him. I'm serious. Spooky? But here's the problem. I am a computer security expert. I've always does what they tell me. Let me ask you this question. You you made a statement. I think about a year ago about having your way with a whale. And I it was that just a shock thing. Or is that real? Please. Would you consider one person? I mean, I've been I described was a humpback, you know, seventy thousand pounds fifty feet long. How would you actually accomplish that? Oh, I see how you make points, but not everybody necessarily. I'm sorry. Not everybody necessarily. He thinks that you're just making a point. Well, here's the point the point. I'm making us how gullible all we people. I don't believe out there. Portia wales. We're also very spooky coach, so John we're talking to John McAfee. Can we talk a little bit about cybersecurity here and the real problem? I I I fear that voices are going to be snuffed out. They already are. But a basic digital ghettoisation to where you can talk all your want. But but you're behind a wall created by Google Facebook Yahoo or any of these any of these players, and I also see this merging of mainstream media along with government and these big corporations. Yes. Yes. That's scary. Not scary. Andrew seeing things. Like, by the way, I shown is a very good friend of mine. I don't. Hang on. I don't believe a single thing that he says or believes, however, he's a party animal and likes and every time I'm with him. I have done so. They. On the same day. "I know me too it's really steamy so hope you're staying hydrated out there my friend hydrate stay cool i know this is a story that's making more headlines over the last couple of days and i just like to bring it up because i think i like this perspective this is coming from porsche rossi and talking about her relationship with ellen degeneres and porsche to rossi says that she actually likes the divorce rumors about them and here's why she says the divorce rumors came and then we really knew the perceptions had changed she said she was at an event on wednesday night and porsche rossi said i'm not kidding i know it sounds ridiculous but when that started happening i thought oh now we're finally accepted we get the same old leap as every celebrity couple interesting there are lots of rumors about them of course she says well he said i thought wow this is great that i'm pregnant not pregnant divorced not divorced whatever that means there is an acceptance for this and i think that really is kind of a lovely funny point good way to look at it that when their marriage is viewed the same as every other same set you know yeah when they're same sex marriage is viewed with the same sort of drama and speculation that there isn't any sort of like conversation over what type of marriage or relationship they have right simply this speculation and the rumors are about what's going on in their marriage that would be going on in any other is such a you know i had not even considered now and i appreciate that i i what i really appreciate is the ability to turn something that is seemingly negative into a positive sort of reflection yeah and i think that takes a certain type of outlook in in the world so i appreciate that that she was able to do that i think that's good and porsche to rossi an ellen have been together for a very long time and i just think they're the cutest and all i wanna do is get one of ellen's castoff properties i mean right high mean ellen degeneres is just as good if not better in designer real estate investor than.

Oprah Brings Audience to Tears in Golden Globes Speech

"Streisand presented three billboards with the best picture drama award and in doing so she slammed the hollywood foreign press association for not honoring more women filmmakers she noted that she's the only woman to have won a golden globe award for best director in 1984 that was thirty four years ago folks times up there was one man who did make history last night sterling k brown from the nbc series this is us he became the first african american actor to win in the best actor category in a tv drama he thanked his family and the show's creator dan fogelman therefore men who wrote a row four a black man but could only be played by black man and so what are pressured so much about this thing is that are being seen for who i am and bring appreciate it for who i am and it makes it that much more difficult to dismiss me or dismiss anybody who looks like him thank you again and it was a black woman who made history for her lifetime achievement award oprah winfrey brought the audience to tears and to its feet in standing ovations last night she began by talking about what it was like as a little girl to watch actor sidney poitier win an oscar and 19 64 i remember his tie was white and of course his skin was black and i'd never seen a black man being celebrated like fact and i've tried many many many times to explain what a moment like that means to a little girl a kid watching from the cheap seats as my mom came through the door bone tired from cleaning other people's houses winfrey noted that portia also wanna cecil b demille of gordon 1982 and it is not lost on me that at this moment there are some little girls watching as i become the first black woman to be given the same award winfrey said she was proud of an inspired by women who have shared their stories in hollywood and beyond speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have so i want to night to express gratitude to all the women who have endured years of abuse and assault because they like my mother had children to feed and bills to pay and dreams to pursue winfrey cited not just hollywood women but domestic workers farmworkers women and academia and politics and business she had a message for them and for all the little girls watching her that a new day is on even before she finished her speeds twitter erupted with calls for oprah winfrey to run for president in 2020 muenden than buckle npr
