In an approved vaccine, already have a flu vaccine based on this technology separately. They also have a partnership with translate bio, and you can see that stocks up forty seven percent today an expanded partnership. They're going to work together on other vaccines to not just the Cova vaccine, and that's an Mr platform similar to Madonna's, and that's a little bit further behind the GlaxoSmithKline Sanofi vaccine so Sanofi. They're having two different Cova. Tracks ongoing. Meanwhile, the first efficacy trials in the United States those thirty thousand person trials expected to start in July from dern and Pfizer AstraZeneca close on their heels, potentially starting July or August with their trial Johnson and Johnson expected in September and then of course as we mentioned gs K.. Sanofi at the end of the year, so these big companies all gearing up to start these large scale efficacy studies within weeks already. What is the earliest projection by accompany MAG for back backseat hitting the market or getting FDA approval? Well we've seen from some companies like Astra Zeneca. Female Comedians Unite

"Hollywood's top comedy. Actresses are uniting in saying they are sick of being put in a box. Tiffany Haddish told the Hollywood reporter that she had to turn down multiple projects as a block comedic actress. She says she gets roles that are overtly sexual or roles that had her play a mom whose child gets hurt in some way. Way And she's fighting for justice. She mentioned this during a virtual actress roundtable. That also included Jamila Djamil Jamila said she's always given scripts to play a character who has too much sex. Robin said the writing is often so bad for comedy actresses. She's resorted to writing her own. Do you think that men and comedic roles feel the same way, or is this? Just a one sided argument. No I think you've you asked Matthew mcconaughey Hey why his career went away did it's because those were kind of the only roles that men had to get as well men who were players, men who still had roommates in their forties men? who were Douche bags? That never got out of Frat life. I think that's comedy is all about is lagging at at those things in life, but I think men do get them as well. Okay, I I was conflicted about this I I'm not a comedic actress and I actually thought the opposite I thought that women who were put in comedic roles were usually sort of the best friend role or the woman. That's like maybe made to look as unattractive. Unattractive as possible to be as funny as possible, so I didn't realize that women who were being put in comedic roles. We're supposed to be overtly sexy or things of that nature so to hear this actually quite surprised by it because I just didn't view it that way. Yeah, I think there's typecasting when it comes to a lot of actors whether it's you were maybe a nerdy role in one movie. Then a lot of people see you as oh. That's going to be the quintessential nerd. If we look at Michael Sarah or Christmas, plus like they are also typecast in their own way, so yeah, I feel like it falls on both sides, but do we feel like right Impro-? No I wouldn't ask for it to improve what I would do. is either a write my own scripts and come up and find content that is right for me as an actor or an actress or I would just pass those things up because what happens is if you pass it up. Another actress gets the job, so let's not have those roles diminish. Let's see those roles go away. Just pass them to another actress. Who's just starting her career? Everyone's not in the position, obviously to pass roles and I think you do have to maybe do roles in the beginning of your career, like for example, even just with my own career right I started on a reality show. That wasn't my end goal but I did that to get to where I was now. There was obviously no guarantee in that out, but luckily it has women who wannabe actresses, whether it's serious actresses or comedic actress, or both start their career out and have different intentions are willing to do different things than maybe they get. Get a little bit more famous, or they get a little bit more successful, but I think what you said. Aaron was very valid and I don't know if it's a comedic actress. Issue I think shirt. People just get typecast in general I think the bigger conversation I feel like when you're casting one role, you do it sell well. People tend to want you for different kinds of roles that are similar to that. Yes, yeah, exactly and like what you were saying just in like you know if you don't want those roles, let's not eliminate them. On them, and these women who are part of this roundtable seem like they're fortunate enough to be able to pass on those roles that they don't WanNa, take on I will play the funny gay friend. What does the future of the U.S.-Canada border look like?

"I want to turn. Our attention says that the border where the number of covert cases now tops two million. That's more than double the cases in any other to the latest ANA corona virus, emergency Arizona and Texas setting new records while over the weekend Florida reported is biggest one day increase in cases pandemic started. or That? Why is that? What we have very strong to on the southern border as you know with Mexico and we had some troops in Canada, but I'll find out about that. I guess it's equal justice to a certain extent. To how do you feel? About opening up the US Canada, border right now. I, guess would be not crate. That would put you squarely with a majority of Canadians who tell pollsters their extremely nervous as they watch our friends and neighbors to the south handling this pandemic. But while the corona virus has made the difference between our two countries obvious. Truth is that we've been drifting apart for a while now. And there's no better place to see that then at the border. And in the public sentiment for keeping shot. But what does that mean? As the week, stretch into months with crossings close to all the non essential traffic. For the communities who exist right next to one another, but on opposite sides of a line they used to cross every day barely thinking twice. How has the enforcement of the US Canada border changed over the last two hundred, years. And, what will it look like the future? Because if there's one thing, the history of this border has shown us. That when things changed, they never really go back to normal. They evolve. Just like the Kennedy US relationship, the porter is always changing. Pandemic might spark the most dramatic shift get. Jordan Heath Rawlings. This is the big story. 14 arrests made in ongoing George Floyd riots in Philadelphia

"While the rest are being made now I'm pleased to be heard in forcing the curfew live on our earlier tonight the latest numbers that at least fourteen arrests have been made but the number is likely higher now with our reporters in center city having witnessed multiple including our community affairs Porter chair Gregg is live on our news line now yes good evening out with just about a half dozen people being arrested and what was what was interesting is that I was out there for a couple of hours people were looting without consequence they were breaking into stores they were taking items people were bold enough to drive their cars up to the doors and basically stuff their cars full of merchandise people at indigo bike shares covered with bags of loot and then all of a sudden police lined up on they had their police wagons they had their riot gear their batons and one of the police officers told me if you need to find some place to go because if you don't you're going to be coming with me and the you saw them push the crowd down the street you saw the looters began to run away and those who are were bowled ord over blatantly on doing things wrong a police arrested them they put on the plastic handcuffs and escorted them to police vehicles I witnessed at least half a dozen being a arrested in that way and as the police began to push the crowd and disperse the crowd right in the thick of our shopping district those crowds dispersed and what they did was they took their chaos to the outer edges of a center city I mentioned earlier tonight that a Walgreens was looted I saw a ride aid being looted both on arch street I saw other stories that had been protected or had been ignored I'm being broken into outside of the shopping district all along Market Street sprint store pretty much included as well and then a seven eleven I. twenty second and market as the crowd was pushed west that store was looted and the but the but the owners of the store where they are on and they they were kept the crowd they kept the vandals out of their store and so you see stories like that you saw I saw and residential buildings being dead glass on a residential buildings being shattered by vandals although people did not go inside but you saw residents standing firm with security guards trying to secure those buildings in keep the vandals out and I have to underscore the fact that while there was so much chaos I personally never felt that my life or physical body was in danger and I talked to a couple of folks and they agree with me they said it was the weirdest five it was like people were I just out here I trying to add to it take advantage of things but at the same time it was a peaceful crowd this wasn't violent people there were firecrackers popping but you never felt that you know someone's going to hit you upside the head or there's gonna be some type of robbery I did speak to a couple of protesters I was surprised as I say folks that were out here because I want to separate what happened earlier the demonstration on in support of justice for George Floyd and others who've been shot by police and and or or killed by police and say here in this these people are totally different from the demonstration but a lot of folks said look you know this needs to happen because those who are in power I don't feel it the way we do and so they wanted to they thought that this needed to happen in areas where people actually care in sections of the city that people care about and they know how important center city is to Philadelphia but I will tell you I've covered hundreds of protests during my career at KYW newsradio and I've never seen anything like this I've never seen destruction like this I've never seen a blatant vandalism and stealing and you know we just destroyed destruction of property in this way and I know that our business owners are getting a double whammy with the pandemic so it's going to take some time for us to clean this up and heal from all of this and this very odd shocking

"Mental Health Awareness Week and last week on Bureau F. Live our editor at large Tim. Blanks spoke to the celebrated American designer. Marc Jacobs who touched on a variety of topics from working through the krona virus crisis and maintaining his creativity but also on how the crisis is impacting his own mental health at this time of anxiety and stress for people around the world. Here's Mark Jacobs inside fashion. Hi Tam I'm such a pleasure to see it today. It's always a pleasure to see you. Tim and this will be out conversation for the next few seasons. I guess because we want you seeing each other in well who knows who knows where I am. I am in New York City in my hotel room in Soho Talking to you you've seen in a hotel rooms for the whole luck. Yes yes yes has that been. It's been let's let's put it this way. I'm grateful to be in a place where I'm comfortable. I'm going to start under the start on the. I'm going to start this chat on a positive note. So what have to keep going back to my mind is that I am grateful. I have my two dogs with me. I have clean made bed that I made this morning. I have what I need. I've got a closet full of clothes that I can play with. Have got a couple of makeup bags that I can play with. I have my iphone and my ipad which connect to other people with and I have the where I can sit outside and get some air so I am very grateful that I'm comfortable today and I feel like I'm taking care of and obviously you confidently connect with people. I'm finding. I'm actually connecting with people more than I usually do because quoting about connecting with now. But I have well. It's a strange thing. Isn't it connection? Because I never really I think of this as a type of connection and I we can use these devices of hours to connect with people in some superficial way or in some way that's different but I'm a luddite and I believe in live contact. I believe in note writing letter writing. I believe in seeing people across the dinner table or having a coffee with them I see. I don't see I didn't grow up with life on the screen and I didn't grow up with cell phone in my hand at or or night at or nih-funded whatever and I like live performance in live theater and I liked. I like going into shops. I like seeing people on streets so while this is some form of connection. It certainly. I don't have any kind of real connection to this form of connection. So but how how? How does this thing for you then? Well it's a kind of a kind of goes in waves and spurts. I mean they're I'm very sort of manic depressive. In a way I mean I am you know. My mental health goes from mania to depression. So there are days where I just feel extremely depressed and feel like it's the end of the world. And then your days were mannequin. I just think what a great opportunity for us all to learn collectively from this and move forward and then there's all the grays in between but I mean I tend to go from the basement to attic in five seconds. You know like In terms of emotions and so it's been very hard because I also not really in control of how you feel. You know the ceilings common. It's just a question of how I kind of accept them and and sort of you know honor them etc. So so I've had moments of feeling very productive and creative and moments feeling just like what's it all sore or is that all there is as I keep saying the south. You Camilla Louder. You have exactly. Isn't it funny? How life comes along to trip up those kind of those little notions and give them a sort of real time white. Will you see it's this? It's this computer right here. That fascinates me the most. And that's what I think is always this kind of amazing thing. I have this kind of faulty computer. Which is my brain and it's not faulty in the sense that it doesn't work but it just kind of works as it does right and so. I mean for absolutely no apparent reason. I could do everything I did yesterday. And Go to sleep on time and wake up on time and have my vitamins draped might juices for some reason the Sun could be shining and I can have the most miserable attitude about life and see things through the darkest leads and then I could stay up all night and and and not drink juices not my vitamins and like the sun isn't shining and I'm just like full of hope and you know like so who knows and then yes they're like these songs that comes my head in these things. I've seen in these performances. I know I don't know like books I've read and you know I don't. I'm not in charge of where the where where my brain sort of fires on a particular day but like it just doesn't it and it's like kind of fascinating as kind of goes through all of its little find sub dreaming a lot more. I have some very weird dreams but I've always had weird dreams that I've always been a bit of an insomniac because apparently that's a that's a huge side effect of this pandemic. Is People a happen. Incredible Dreaming Nkala at a lot about real people like either family members will celebrities or whatever but that they remember the dreams full of almost movie. And that's by to pick this. That people can depend up in the daytime and then the minds slowed us. I don't think that I'm dreaming more than I was before. And I think my dreams are kind of still of the crazy surreal content that they always work which combines a little bit of like the tape recorder you know things I've just recently heard but then then concocted into something that might have some other greater meaning but No I find my dreaming kind of the same. I guess you're making a movie while you yeah so via via recommended. I mean she. She had this idea. Unfortunately it was like four weeks in she was like. Oh you should have taped yourself every day. Like just videotaped yourself every day like you had this like you know daily journal like on tape like everything you did just like this endless documentary journal and I was like well if I had started it for weeks ago. It would have been great because we're already for weeks in if feels that will have to do something else. So so nick My friend my best friend and and someone I work with very closely you know at. Marc Jacobs He he and I came up. And we decided we'd do more of a fairy tale like this this kind of life in quarantine more of an louise or a you know like or a home alone or something like that right played all the characters who would normally be here at the hotel but or not like what kind of well everything from the porter to the manager to the chef in the restaurant to the housekeeping to the engineer to the different people who are residing in the hotel to the different things. I do in my room on different occasion to me documenting my set like just just just like I never any element of the other look creeping in. No just just just anything. I can do within the confines of this hotel. Your instagram is being incredibly vivid. The whole time that you've seen in Lucca. It seals almost like you are testing out characters in well. I'm not really I'm I'm kind of just you know I've always been this way. This is like this is nine year old mark who you always was in his bedroom. Escaping chaos of what life looked like you know like a very disturbed and dysfunctional childhood. And I went to my room and I sat with my clothes and I painted my jeans or embroidered. Jean Jacket and I put on my outfits. I comb my hair one way or the other and you know maybe I found a curler for my mother curled by whatever it was but that nine year old kid that me was like a in his own world in his bedroom and had to use his imagination to create a world. That was a happier place. And that's kind of what I'm doing I mean. I have two months worth of clothes that I packed to move in here. I'm I have a couple of bags of of makeup. That randomly for some reason felt were important to take with me and And then you know just and the dogs and Some hairclips jewelry and I'm just playing around and and keeping myself entertained and and doing what I do which I think is taking care of my mental health. I mean I have to get up everyday and shower and I have to Rome and I have to get dressed and I I just feel like not only do I have to do it for my sanity but like I enjoy doing it. So it gives me pleasure and it allows me to kind of be of service in some way. Because if I'm not well. In taking care of myself creatively and in every other way then. I'm of no use to anybody else. I mean I just can't lie an unmade bed all day long. It's the most pressing thing I've I mean. I used to see my mother who suffered from manic depression. She wouldn't get out of her bed sometimes for weeks and her bed was never made and the site of an unmade bed to be as just about the most horrifying thing. I can remember.

Why Billy Porter says he cant be a politician

"I'm Jonathan Kaye. Part and this is Cape Up. Billy Porter has a Tony for Kinky a grammy for kinky booths an emmy for his role as prey tail in the television. Show pose even. If you didn't know any of that you probably heard about that. Black Velvet Tuxedo Gown quarter war to the Oscars in twenty nine thousand nine hundred. It was an instant station and made the popular actor and singer in instant cultural icon. We talked all about that moment and how once he was true to himself. His career really took off and we talk politics. Quarter loves to talk about politics and explained during a conversation about the groner virus why he could never be a politician. Talk in October here at all right now. Billy Porter thank you so much for coming on the PODCAST. Thanks for having me. Okay so we gotta get the big news out of the way I and that is the Matt Galle. You and vogue teamed up to do a called. Hashtag met Gal Challenge. It was people going on instagram. To recreate the fashions that have come through the red carpet. Where did this idea come from? Was it. Yours was Anna winters? Well we started at me and my team started it with my own personal social media platform and audience. And you know with all the fabulous that I am and the stuff that people know me for. I don't think people realize how political I am and how serious I am. And so in this time I wanted to give my people something to distract them. A little bit While simultaneously not having to engage myself. Because I don't really feel very fashion oriented right now. I don't feel very silly right now. Like I'm having a hard time sort of mustering energy to just be goofy and filthy. I WanNa push you on that. Because at the met gala last year was when you were brought in as I guess a Sun Goddess or Cleopatra and and it was at the Oscars in twenty nineteen when you showed up in a in a black Christian Serio Tuxedo gown and I saw the instagram post or the Social Media. It just blew up and it was such an iconic moment. Do you understand. Just how big that Oscar gown you was. Yeah I understand on paper. I understand in theory. It's a really heady experience you know because I just found a space over the fifty years of my life to kind of just stand in my truth and get zero fs to anybody or anything and really just be authentic and so much to do. That wasn't about going by world much leads to do that was. That's just what to do. And you know there are conversations that need to be had in this world and when one has a platform as I have been able to build and create especially over the last couple of years I do understand the power and the impact that something like that could have. I didn't realize how big it could be I mean it literally speak of it as like B. O. A. O. In terms of my life before Oscar after Oscar like my life is completely different. And that's why I was pushing you on this idea you. You're saying you didn't feel like being silly. And yet before Oscar after Oscar is a great way to put it because when you strode across the red carpet in that Black Velvet Tuxedo gown. It was a thunder clap for a whole lot of communities. You told our friend or mutual. Good friend Tamarin on her show you said you spend a lot of your life quote unquote in the masculinity game. Talk about that what are you what did you mean by that when you said well you know from the moment. I could comprehend thoughts. My masculinity was in question and in our culture and our society masculinity as at the top of the food chain and if you're not masculine enough you're dismissed. I was sent to a psychologist when I was five years old in kindergarten after every Wednesday at school to talk to somebody because my family thought I was too much of it so from the minute I could literally comprehend thought the messaging I received was. There's something wrong with you. And it's based on how you behave and that needs to be fixed so I live my whole life in that. And then you know. Get into business and it's amplified one hundred times more You know and I spent the first half of my life and my career in that masculinity game trying to be masculine enough so that I can eat so that I could get a job so I could get paid so I can eat. There came a time in my late thirties. Early Forties late thirties. I would say mid to late thirty where I just got sick And I- extracted myself from that part of the toxicity of what it can mean and leaned in to all the things that I was told would be my liability all of the things that I lived as a liability. They weren't wrong. They the people were not wrong. You know I took every hit that I could take not being masculine enough. I took them all it then. I decided that I didn't

"My career before the Oscars in my career after the Oscars is starkly different. That was when I first came across you and had been sitting that choosing my best dress, best dress stressed, and then you're came up when I was like fuck everyone else I'm raising them. This is my. This is my best dressed who the fuck is. I have to know him. And then the Karla Jesus Christ. Did you blow the Oscars of the stage? You turned up in dressed in gold like Cleopatra being carried by six men who topless as fuck by the way. They carried you in on like like Britney Spears. Entry it was one of the best and most recode things I've ever seen what gave you the idea to do that? It's nice to have. Okay, so. Ryan Murphy I was. At Ryan Murphy Stable, and he said you should go as the tire a Mahogany. Diana Ross Montage. And I was like Bitch I. Don't WanNa work that hard. WE'RE GONNA change. It's like everybody wants to. And that's like that's a great idea, but like I'm the one who has to do it. So, what is it going to be? What like I went and watched montage, and I said what would be. The most fun outfit to sort of take from this, and it was the Egyptian, and so we decided okay, let's go injection. And then You know my style was Sam retail was like doing research and the sun dog beds in you know bowing the Sun and the Sun God they don't walk. They're carried everywhere so like. You know. The idea just expanded for their we with the blondes and blondes have their ideas in the wings and the guy that's. You know and I know how to wear it. Shit, dead, Oh my goodness, even army I'm GONNA. Wear I'm going to do what I'm supposed to do in it that moment where you stepped off and they let you down and you lifted. What kind of felt light wings up to the story on the? Good. That was it was. Hulk just thinking about it. It was such a glorious moment of such like self. It was the official billy porter has fucking arrived. I don't remember anyone else going to the Mat Garland I. "Know it's like will and grace kick the door down so that we could walk through and I really appreciate that you know it's really significant. It's significant what that show did. And you know it's significant. Are you how it changed? The Culture Howard changed the cultures perspective. On what being gay men and really created a space for the rest of us to come in. You know you guys open. The door crust kicked it down and we wouldn't be here if not for will agree and would be opposed if not for will and grace and are you seeing. And what are you seeing with Pos like are you getting from people that their awareness level is shifting? Yes yes more you know. A lot of a lot of people who have never had themselves reflected back at them. It's like that's where we're starting. We're starting with a group of people including myself until the show never saw a representations of themselves anywhere. That's what happened with five transgender women of color on one television show. Yeah at at the same time like I've never seen a character that looks like great l. It's not lost on There's never been a character in mainstream. Anything that has looked like pray. Tell Yeah because had there been one I would have seen it. Yeah closest thing that came to it. The closest thing that came to it is believed in angels in America Right now. That's the closest thing but this is queer people of color telling her own story The people behind the scenes are queer people of color. There are others as well but like Stephen Canals. Janet Mock Our Lady J is is is white but she's trained. You know what I mean like. It's like the voices that are creating. This are the voices that have lived it. That's why it's so real. That's why resonates so so beautifully. Yeah and transparent. Of course you know kind of started the ball rolling but then you guys have taken that and gone to the next level distant with a with an old white guy open the yeah absolutely before we get to a ramp up question. I just wanted to ask you. If did you happen to catch the acting? Debut of Janet mock recently senator. Elaine does he senator lane on your child. Yes I mean based on her portrayal of a United States. Senator on my show devs on fx on. Hulu I would not want to be called to the carpet by her as a producer very authoritative. Sell good or one of the days. She was shooting. I thought oh I just thought she'd been acting forever. I arm yes. She's amazing yeah. I said we're actually I'VE BEEN. I've been teasing her about senator lay. "Avid body. Yes so we're here with BILLY PORTER. We've been having some really really cute technical difficulties but now we think we've got it all figured out fingers crossed Billy Itself Fund a C. You always and Is Good to see you guys could do. I know I think that we should start by saying that. Billion I have known each other since nineteen ninety four right and we do member of ninety three actually. Oh December of ninety three we rehearsals and we're on forty second street. You know when it was still like feeding lots of dirty hose you pay someone to make leaving me and billy. So we did a revival of we did a revival of grease on Broadway in nineteen ninety four and That's when we met and it was all of our almost all of our first Broadway show right. It was not mind it was my third but now you done before that I was in the original cast of Miss Saigon And then I did. The original cast of five guys named Mile and that I came over to Greece. Okay good so we had a lot of fun. It was fun. Billy played the team Jon. He likes stopped the show every night. You imagine yeah crazy crazy. Production of grease type it into Youtube. You'll see psychedelic it was like yeah neon green the. I if I if I may I think that the director the producers were super high every night when they were deciding what to do. I don't think that's much of a secret. No no they were high when they put this concept together. They you have got to come up with that. I when you were already by thank you darling. I played Marty. And that's her son but when we recorded the cast album I remember. You came racing in 'cause you had this great you know you're sung stopped the show every night and you came bursting into the recording session. Because then when when you record a Broadway show soundtrack. I'm you know original cast album You do it with the full orchestra. Live so you along with the orchestra just as you would on stage every night and it's all live and you only get one or two takes so you kind of want it to be good so billy was concerned that his the old voce wasn't going to cooperate day and remember. Do you remember this. You has dropped on the way. You're in a panic because you didn't think that it was going to send your voice. Goes down good that day which it always does But you stopped and got an ice cone and for some reason. Ice CREAM CONE. Had like completely remedied. The situation and you are able to warble like a thrush Broadway. You know. It's the it's the you know. Like I like I like the grease I like the gunk that the milk creates you know it would have been some dream or a piece of fried chicken..

"I already have nick a big Mac coins back back off putting backstory. Wasn't that funny. Wow what a drop we heard. Our guest is slapping his knee. Oh man great drop their from. Yeah no that was a great. Hey that was a great drop from Luke Court right. Who says really wish I was better at this. But here you go. Thanks for keeping on with the podcast on a global pandemic. I think a lot of US needed Luke Luke. I disagree but thank you for sending in the drop and I hope you're doing well. Wow Wow you know. Definitely thank you to luke court right for that drop and hey if you want to send him to drop it. Maybe got more time on your hands right now. Because you're you're stationed at home. You've got some audio engineering expertise. Spoon man gmail.com. You want to send one. Have you WANNA send them to drop? Just send an email to spoon man drops at gmail.com. Now you're gonNA look that up later in it. It's a part of the joke. I know we have a great guest with US joining remotely a writer and editor from the podcast inside voices and good Christian Fund which is right here on head. Gum Kevin Porter. Hi Kevin. Thanks for having me back friends. Oh my God. It's been too long because we have. We have repeat guests on. And this is your second time of the podcast and I looked it up. It was like I had Kevin on pretty recently twenty. Sixteen last time you had me on was also an election year. And what does that mean? Wow What does that portend? I don't know but it's been four years. It took a global pandemic to invite me back. I'm but I can get if we if we need a global pandemic for number three. Let's do it going to tell you. Yeah we got a lot. We got a lot of one and done. Some person comes on the show. They do their thing it stinks. They're never allowed back. I wouldn't say that about you know I do you know I am a listener of the show. I'm still a fan the shell and anytime there's someone on as a guest that makes Mitch. Nervous always says our guest today is actually good now like Shitty People. The does make me wonder was of course not. They're all they're all better than me. Are All of our guests is our guest. I truly don't like Cooperatively definitely assigned. Why Not yes the? Why are you making it real wider yet? There are actually. There are some that you don't actually some of playing along. I'm playing along. That's not playing along. I was playing along sanding. That's something he he learned that the institution thriving institution in us to educate people stay indoors. I learned a lesson of like as far as like high school or College. Yes like I've never been like Rah-rah I'm proud. It probably more high school in anything else but not even that but with a hey. I'm kind of proud that I like wine here. And I like this place and it's feels like you know a mistake. I should never have. I should never have had any pride in it. That's something don't take pride in anything. It's just going to ultimately be an albatross around your neck. We've I WANNA ask you Kevin. Yeah before we get too deep into Indian comedy a minutia and we're GONNA get into it my we're GONNA get deep. We're gotTa Talk Simon's impressions we're GonNA fucking Surena. Halpern me Kevin. Obviously we're we're in the midst of this cove nineteen pandemic and we were all locked down here in so cal. What have you been doing foodwise during this quarantine? Well everyone it feels like is making up the rules as we go as far as far as like. What's the most ethical responsible thing to do? Yes so at first. It seemed like go to your grocery stores. Get all the food you can. And then don't do anything ever again shifted to like. Oh well actually don't go to your grocery stores especially the first three days of the month because people would food stamps need again in there and they need better access so don't don't mess up for them and then it's become like support other businesses and get takeout but then that became well don't support chain businesses with takeout. Don't get don't get delivery from outback. Steakhouse do like local businesses. But then it's like well. You're putting a post mates guy in harm's way so for me. Just like navigating the kind of minefield of what is good and just right now. I have been cooking more at home. I am a big. We're not big by loved. I love to bake. I love baking cookies and bread. And and things like that. But when you're just baking for yourself there's a lot less motivation to make. Say a batch of two dozen cookies because there's nowhere for it to go. I can drive around and drop them off at people's houses but then even it's a fifty fifty if they would accept them or feel safe taking them so my baking has diminished significantly. But I've tried to like I feel like now is a nice opportunity to get better at dishes. I haven't tried before again two different rhythms of like for breakfast stuff. I've been making a little egg sandwich. Every morning like one of those nooks and crannies biscuits toasted with butter and a deep fried egg or not de frejus regular Friday piece of cheese on maybe a little bit avocado. That's a great breakfast treat. Sounds yeah or like even trying to fry potatoes. Finally just the way I like him. I I think I figured out exactly that a couple of days ago which was like some olive oil some butter garlic salt pepper red pepper and a little garlic powder on top of that. So I'm happy with the way those came out we got gone. Mitch Oh we got up. We got a little a little overlap. Wogs class last over plastic zoom overlap. Hanging on every podcast is a Robert Altman movie every single one. Still Boys Nashville. I I now you know what now I forgot. Oh no I forgot it. It's gone it's gone forever. You're about to say we just got. Oh we just got a an order to not go. We were told not to go to the Grocery Store yes this local county ordinance and I ran out of groceries yesterday. I was like what am I going to do? So I'm in. I'm in a spot where I get a for for. I mean today was covered because I just went and got the meal for our place today. But that'll cover you. I mean 'cause this is a that's a big meal that you got so that'll cover you for at least lunch and dinner. Yeah I my dinners are squared away. It's just basically breakfast. And all you piece of shit re bytes for you. Write a needling me. They're gonNA eat a whole. Hey I don't eat a whole ham in three bites isn't true. You call blocks of Ham Copies Kevin. Sorry Tumbler a lot. I think he put that stuff on it. I think more people should read it Kevin. Mcallister is more likely. You're as you want criminals. Do I do want criminals. Come in and try to me I am home along for the quarantine that but you got that train set and you got that Michael Jordan standing ready. But I'm an adult man so the Michael Jordan Standard is in rough shape having a Michael Jordan standing in a movie coming out in twenty twenty like the little Hitler Mustache doing like the Hanes ads or whatever the really shitty distressed genes apparently did candy crush now. Did you guys hear that? No Yeah God. Espn is putting out this. Big Michael Jordan documentary. I think they moved it up because it was already in the CAN. Yes and they have literally nothing else to talk about right now but I think he's addicted to like little video games on his phone. Wow I can see that I mean you know if you're naturally competitive. I could see that being a thing that you would gravitate towards and and want to be the best at I mean I a lot of. It's in it's in the can you said. Yeah. Maybe I'll watch it in the can currency life baby boy. You can walk as you can. Paul deliver specific is it. Now it's when our with quarantine it's you can pull your big screen into the bathroom and just sitting there all day if you WANNA yeah. There's no rules. It's chaos. I speaking of that Mitch. Your Roommate Shack. I remember on CRIBS. He had a TV in his bathroom. And that was the first time I was like. I didn't know you could do that. So when I leave the house of when I don't WanNa get robbed. I just tell shack I turn on the lights. I tell shock to stand in front of curtains so that people know. That's a very large.

"Is also where smokey flavors can come in by using woodfires or would smoke in the toasting roasting killing owning process so The these malts can have very powerful flavors so usually only a small small portion of the malt that goes into a stouter porter may have been toasted or roasted Even for like a very dark beer like a Russian imperial stout recipes usually only call for about about thirty percent of the Malt to be Brown or black. The other seventy percent will be Pale right. uh-huh shout out to Martha Hobson writing for Popular Science for her. Excellent breakdown of all of these Breakdowns also just out of saying y'all this episode was supposed to come out last week and the reason that you didn't get it last week was that I was running up against the deadline and trying to understand the history of Malt and ran across this article in Brew Your own magazine. It was written by one. Kristen England and the lead of the article was if there ever was a multi equivalent of the crazy uncle that lives under the stairs. Black Malt also called black black patent malt would be it and I just stopped like my brain just stopped and I was like I. I've got more time. I'm GONNA need more time on this one. Yeah it's a very aspirational in in in this episode combining them both and You know here we are I. I remember this guy I was had. Oh Woody's local establishment woody's and this guy. I was looking at the milkshakes shakes and they have malted milkshakes and he I didn't know what it was and I swear for an hour. He explained to me why why it was superior to wow so I understand. There's a lot going on a whole lot going on. I do agree. Multi milkshakes are way better. If you're listening kyle with the motorcycle I still remember very clearly this whole thing. That's this is clearly made an impact. It it did because I I remember thinking it was one of those moments where you're like this really happened. Why Asleep and dreaming Nope Nope Nope? Yep Okay back to the beer yes so yes anyway The result of all of this will be a beer. That's dark brown to black black color with a rusty and toasty flavors ranging from dry to sweet in flavor From from very low alcohol very high alcohol content But usually chilly with low hop content and thus less bitterness than a lot of other beers like a different variety of bitterness from burnt flavors instead of like like grapefruit grapefruit juice like you kind of get pine or grapefruit from from an IP. That has a lot of hops. This is more like a coffee. Yeah Yeah and here I need to. We need to talk about nitrogen. Okay because Because some doubts importers like Guinness employ nitrogen nitrogen to give the beer a creamier mouth feel and up in that thick foamy head because most beers contain carbon dioxide to give them fizz. I it's also natural. Resolve live from inflation but you can also add nitrogen which creates Tana little bubbles as opposed to carbon dioxide like big snappy bubbles Nitrogenous also less soluble in carbon dioxide. So instead of continuing phys that you get with. Co Two you get this rush of Nitrogen Trajan escape and this is why also thanks to some complex. Fluid dynamics the bubbles in a pint of Guinness Or other nitro beer. What will settled settled down the sides of a glass and rise up from the center to form that Foamy head over the course of a few seconds Also since the gas in the beer will be a blend of of Co two and nitrogen heavy on the nitrogen maybe like seventy percent you wind up with a with a relatively still glass of beer once. The bubbles have settled into that foam to maximize that affect. You need to help the nitrogen. NUCLEATE which is why nitrogen is beers are poured from special tap faucets that slow and agitate the poor and it's y canned and bottled nitro beers contain a widget or some other specialized designed seeds. The nitrogen bubbles. Yeah and we will have to talk more about that some other time. It's really cool. Weird fluid dynamics and And seating of the bubble nuclei. So it's wild wild. Yeah couple years ago. I had one of those canned Guinness drafts share. Yeah and it had like something's in here all right mysteries all. Yeah Yeah Very. Basically what's happening with the widget is that It's attached to the to the tab of the CAN and And it releases this burst of nitrogen into the beer when you open the CAN which seeds negotiation the bubbles very cool? Very basically. I'm probably screwing that up a little bit in the telling General Ballpark. Got It There are a lot of varieties of porter's and stoute's With different things things added during the brewing process to play with the resulting flavors. Oh you'll stoute's are brewed with oats in addition to barley as you might imagine Milk stoute's include lactose host. which are milk sugar to add? Sweetness cremedas then. We discuss how we both thought that they like. We had never put together though. That's why Yup Yup Yup. I had no idea until like a few weeks ago me too. I thought it was kind of Creamy creamy for a reason. Exactly Syrup VIP Oyster stoute's include whole oyster shells during brewing to get some of those minerals in there. You can add coffee or peanut soup cinnamon in or whatever you like you can eight. You're stouter porter in Bourbon barrels to add those flavors to the mix imperial stout in Baltic porters are styles was stronger flavors and higher higher alcohol content a whole world out there. Oh my heck. There is so important question Sub Question question question to this. What's the difference between doubt and a porter that's essentially the difference? Oh yes it up. Yeah these days yeah like not much The two terms are used pretty interchangeably. By different brewers. Within this family of Beers official official designations tend to include the word creamy and stoute's description and not importers description. Some modern brewers defines doubts as containing on malted malted roasted barley in addition to or instead of the usual malted roasted barley. That porter's used but even that is an industry-wide yeah and people are very passionate and opinionated about. It certainly are if you would like to read about this argument on the Internet Google. Oh yeah and so. Many humans will give you their opinion pages and pages and pages of it. there's a popular story that the name Porter came from. The fact headquarters of London loved beer type so much way back when it first got started or that it somehow derived from entire but okay all right that is from the type of Cask that may have been used to mature porters in the early seventeen hundreds. The story goes that dark beers were then made by combining multiple beers may ate during like successive meetings over the course of an entire brewing run and matured in these tasks that were known as butts so the beer may have been called entire but beer before it took on the name Porter I'm not sure whether this is apocryphal. Or not though partially because it's just I I know I'm like twelve but like in higher beer so funny yes and I'm trying to imagine where poor Turner would come from from that. I don't think so. Maybe the accent was very different. We don't know that's true. I wasn't there one one thing giving credence to this theory. That porters are named for Porter's is in seventeen twenty six letter written by a man living in London quote another kind of beers called porter meaning carrier barrier because the greater quantity of this beer is consumed by the working classes. It is the thick and strong beverage and the effect it produces if drunken excess is the same as that of wine nine. This Puerto Cost three pence pot. That letter is the first known instance of the Word Puerto Rican print. It isn't as for stout that might be because high gravity. Porters were frequently called stout porters in the late seventeen in early eighteen hundreds from their stout became a distributor for good dark beard herd. Yes stopped yeah yeah. That's stout meaning like strong. Rains was sometimes a slender beer or small beer to mean a low alcohol all beer And yet at the time the only difference in recipes for stoute's versus Porter's was often the amount of water involves like less was used for scouts. So they would be stronger longer. But these days porter's can be stronger than stoute's fun reverse history Mr President mystery. Ah Not as fun workshop that okay. Cool cool um another theory suggests that porter derived from a beer that came to Britain from the Netherlands called porter which dates back to the fourteenth century. And yeah both of these. Were considered beers for the working. Classes like porter also means a person person who hauls or delivers things. Yeah and these are also dark beers with rusty flavors. Though I get the idea that they tend to be On the sweeter side of the porter your spectrum to this day okay cool still exist. Oh yeah that's always pleasant out out I I wonder Jersey drink responsibly. generally the lower the alcohol content of a beer the fewer calories it will contain meaning that Guinness at four point one percent alcohol by volume is actually one of the latest beers. He can drink outside of things that are like brewed specifically to be low calorie Like Corona is four point six abud what is five percent. This blew my mind. Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah so yeah. That's a that's certainly a factor but certainly those roasti flavors can also so like really mask the taste of higher volumes of alcohol so some porters and scouts are exactly as heavy as they look drink responsibly again. uh-huh uh-huh good. Oh Gosh Yeah just have some yes we do have a little bit still numbers for you. A couple yeah. As of two thousand seventeen. A porter's occupied a small percentage of the American beer market share just zero point three percent But they we're on the rise. Sales had increased by zero point seven percent over the course of the year stoute's also had a good year. They grew to one point. One percent of the overall market and a sales rose rose by four percent yes They are definitely. I feel like they're on the as we're in this craft beer renaissance here in the US and other places you're kind of on the tail end of that. Like education is still happening with lighter beers in and as we're going to talk about south importers pretty much disappeared for for a minute for a long time yeah and and yeah like we've gone through the the Ip a craze and the sour craze. So I'm wondering maybe Tapie stats portraiture. Next it sounds like they might be it. Sounds like they might be home but before we get to that. We have a lot of history were you and I. We've got a quick break forward where sponsor.

But he definitely said the call them now so I will be doing that in a matter of me new dose. Let me connect to the show. Hold me down chant. No problem matching everybody out in the Chapman everybody joining. Don't WanNa take a moment. Alex Smith that bug man. We stayed trying to give you guys as close content. Great Content We we had rick glazed nouns around this morning. We had everybody Souleymane mercy also the my last week in just going to keep getting better and better man you guys want these hard hitting interviews in this content gotta tell the friend Francis Mass that thumbs up but we do appreciate it. Shout to big Nick Nick to ruin the five. Oh four out that one whiteboard Kieran. Bits shot the PUCK ISM. Whatever then need Chad casual bath man? Shot you you've been following me on my own channel so I appreciate that but no Mike or do we got this guy who ken porter. The world renowned trainer. WBZ Green Belt trainer of the year. also So can I just WanNa thank you first and foremost for coming coming on the program and taking out the time to allow us to interview. You know you guys are always busy But yeah obviously in the new circulating. There's a three man lists for manny Pacquiao his manager Shawn Gibson mentioned. Sean Porter Danny Garcia. Mikey Mike Garcia and From social media seems like your son. Sean Porter is in the gym so I Guess Happy Holidays. How was thanksgiving? And how are you. Thanks for the INTRO. Come to him very well I just finished working on myself. 'cause I didn't feel good after last night to where I went to bed so I just finished a workout Headed to me Sean. And I got a young kid. That's going to trial Chiffon Day. This one seventy eight going to those guys do a workout in the gym here. You probably the next thirties will be top. So everything's good on our end I know that You guys have. I heard that but I haven't I haven't read it or seen it anywhere between forty to me enough to take a look at. It is good to hear our name being. You mentioned definitely let me introduce you. Obviously to Michael Gross Mike Porter healthy they My first question is I. I know I know Sean is back in the gym training. Who Hold it certainly? Is Sean looking at as a potential opponent. You know what brothers. There's no one that we're looking at is specific water weighed. That boxing is set. Up is not set up if that makes sense to do things are not what we expect. They don't go the way they should go. Never playoff system you now things that don't make sense so what we do before I is. Obviously you know training camp where we do After a fight which is worse on the right after the fight is what we call the after Fi Cam The first few days after a fight he does a lot of recovery. Salt bath on my stretchy yoga type of thing After two days cold back you know the The cold tubs as well. After two days of the aero specified best fight. Sean say I feel I feel fine. Not You know not necessarily for me to keep doing this so a week after the fight fight you know. She was back into training boxers across trainy and then two weeks after the fight teams back into boxing trade. I mean and he's been doing that you know. Of course. He picked up some way because of the holiday and I backed off and eleven. Do that but you know you'll be back working today Just for anyone that they call us about you know like I said it's great to have our name mentioned would man but it's a long way between being lifted the cup to make something like that so you know right now. We're just staying in shape so that when we do get a call. Aw and hopefully a date that would be like maybe march. We'll be ready for. How important is that recovery coverage of process and how long has been doing it at the end if he is very effective? What What have you seen it translate to and out of out of the ring is very important and you know? I'm not going to say that I invented this. I would definitely tell you that I met anyone else. That does it. And I'm not just talking about the recovery physical part of the body and the mental and emotional and spiritual aspects of the boxer as well so to give you the prime perfect example. MHM that third day that I call Sean to say hey. Let's go do some recovery. He was at Church that morning. That's the spiritual BA- covered any needed to deal with the result of the fight whereas other people go out and this is when the boxes become their most vulnerable after a fight they win the FI. They got all the fe as they got all the fanfare. They got Money you know. Everything is accessible. There's no doors that are closed to them. Nobody says there's no not a friend not a buddy Not a girlfriend. You know family members. Everyone is allowing them to do anything they want to do. And so it's very very important when they're they're most vulnerable right there that You've got someone that they believe in trust and will listen to so over the periods over the course of Shaw's career this has been implemented so many times that this fight. I never had these have a conversation with him. A bomb going to a club or movie. I never really have before. But is something that's been implemented and it's like muscle memory for him and he gave it up to God he went. Uh You know. Spent a lot of time with his pastor and people that are involved in the Church of course he spent a lot of time with me in the mornings doing recovery. But it's very important because these these times of the guys that are most vulnerable when they got anything that they want and everybody's allowing them to do anything that they wanted to and you've seen how those results can't become a negative situation. Guys you know. Start to party too much guys you know hanging out too much too. Many girls too many situations guys get arrested. Different things like that you know and so We we we don't have that we haven't had never had that and you know it's working out really good for us and of course you WanNa stay on top of with their weight because again in their their most vulnerable. Everybody's feeding them everybody's hanging out anybody's doing whatever they WANNA do when they're no you know. Stop size no do not disturb. I do not just by anyone to do got you. Were you able to see the water versus Ortiz. Fight this weekend and if you were what do you make people saying that water should start off a little bit faster. Because he's been keeping up twenty rows and certain sites I was up close and personal. It was right there Behind his corner actually Mike is in front of me and then I was in the seat number two so I was right there and I did see it He had me. He had me worry because I felt that he was down around else And I don't even know if you WANNA call it a slow start. It just appeared to me that He he was waiting for his right moment. But I wasn't comfortable with it I was rooting for them and I wanted to see him. You know long to well that night so You know as I was counting around. He was definitely down quite a few rounds going into Iran where he got the knockout In my estimation and I even looked over to the person that was where we have to fight I said to them. I wonder what they're telling him in Cornick. He's gotTa tell him he got you know. Tell him that he's now he's he's not he's not up on scorecards. Can't be just from inactivated it. I would agree now. We had a poll last week where it was like like the only person in the division that can really get watery. Chairs was a theory. Now I'm of that believe but I think water is like his power Howard just freakish. Do you any unhappy way out there. Other than theory that can really your water. A rapport is I think the other one that could give them run was when he was in the rain with I know that fury poses a lot of different problems problems because of his style also because of his activities much more active. Active Indiana is or didn't just show yeah fight The Janta has unbelievable power. And I'm known this kid since he was in the amateurs He was on a national golden gloves. Championship Podium Sean. It when that's golden gloves champions together in two thousand seven and I just keep looking back in my mind over his career. I keep looking back in my mind visualizing when he was at the Olympic Training Center For the two two thousand eight Olympic team he was at the cruiserweight division in which you know we call it to a one and then in the amateur amateur this to a one plus so he wasn't that into a one plus we had a kid by the name of Mike Hotter. Add to a one plus and I just keep going back over my mind Mike. When did this power come in? You know I saw him winning fights and I saw him winning fights. You know And I thought it was because of his size but not necessarily you.

"Everything like that everything that has a fundamental tangible backing of value either because of earnings or because of assets i next up on the mail bag for this week and will leave it with this one the we have so many great listeners sending us amazing incites questions and thoughts dear porter book and the crew i'm a big fan of the show and current subscribers well thank you for talking about the issues and everyone else seems to be ignorant of or too afraid to bring up the current hot topic right now is the idea of a debt jubilee i worked for a large institutional investment firm of which we manage a lot of fixed income assets i find it funny almost comical that no one seems to be humoring this issue that is the debt market bubble but anyway i have two questions for you the first is how what a debt jubilee specifically affect my personal debts investments aside iii credit card mortgage car loan at cetera and second question i realize a debt jubilee is one theoritical path for history i think we both know that it would just reset the problem not solve it and of course create many many more problems in its wake what are the other possible scenarios both ideal and realistic i know this may be a matter more of opinion i would enjoy hearing yours this from tom well in the way that i see the jubilee unfortunately i see it more as a political negative um i think that sooner or later the the everyday common american working man is going to realize that he got screwed he is going to see finally that no matter how hearty works in our how hard he saves he's never going to get ahead in an economy that's dominated by giant financial inflation you know i look at my parents my parents are now in their mid70s my dad were for the cocoa accompli my mother was a schoolteacher they worked hard every day their lives my dad was born.
