Supreme Court Justice clarence Thomas under fire this morning after a new ProPublica report revealed Thomas accepted several luxury vacations from a billionaire Republican donor without disclosing them, raising new concerns for the conduct of the nation's highest judges. ABC News chief legal analyst Dan Abrams says while federal judges are typically required to report such gifts, the Supreme Court typically plays by different rules. Is this an ethical violation? Sure. Is it a technical violation of the law that applies to federal judges? It sure seems it is. But now the question is, okay, so what now? The Supreme Court has never even formally accepted the idea that the justices are subject to those particular laws. And even if they are the question is, what is the enforcement mechanism? The donor Harlan Crowe has issued a statement saying that the vacations were gatherings of friends and that he and his wife didn't try to influence Thomas's judicial decisions. "So wow, hey, it's the first weekend of unofficial weekend of summer, and we know this because the beaches in Chicago are open. And it's past Memorial Day, so we thought we'd drop our very first episode on sort of the very first unofficial weekend of summer. So here we go. It's best of the fest this season. Right now, as you all know, street fast and ethnic fasts are all the rage this time of the year. So we're gonna hit it straight with starting with the festivals. My first and foremost, my very favorite my fest in Lincoln square. The annual German summer festival that is held in June, but it looks like may. But may 1st is a great fun sort of poker dancing and German beer drinking festival located at Lincoln and Leland and always a sure bet for a good time. Down farther south in Hyde Park, we got the 57th street art fair, which is home of the oldest Jared art fair in the Midwest. So be sure to check out over a 132 artists celebrating the arts in the heart of Hyde Park. Another big festival is due division fast in west town. Don't forget to check out due division in west town by the west town Chamber of Commerce. We got Lincoln park Greek fest. If you want a good Euro or some lamb, be sure to check out Lincoln park Greek fest June 3rd to the 5th and also sort of a new festival. It's called the windy city hot dog fest by special events management in the portage park neighborhood. So going on this weekend June 4th to the 5th, lots of hot dogs to be eaten for sure. And there will be a hot dog eating contest. So something you definitely want to check out, you all know, don't bring any ketchup to this festival. You won't be accepted. So there we go. So there's kind of the typical events you might find in the summer. Now let's talk about some of the other events going on this weekend. A couple of our hand curated picks from Heather and I have couldn't be on this recording, but she will be joining us soon in a couple of weeks. So first of all, all weekend long, if you're into art, there's obviously the Hyde Park art fest going on, but there's also the uptown art fest, sort of on the other side of the city. It's a 30 annual uptown art walk featuring over a hundred pieces of public art, including more than 50 new works painted live around the neighborhood, so be sure to check out that explore uptown dot org. Another thing going on this weekend, downtown.
