"Was a good sailing race on or something, but no, I didn't see I didn't see that. Right now it's time for a pal of cleanser. It's been a rough show there for the only way to do that, I believe, is like this. Here he is with his joke of the day. And you guys hear about that pregnant bed bug? No. She's having a baby in the spring. I love it. And that is so silly. We got you. I also love pajama gram. You will too. This Valentine's Day give her soft silky, naturally nude pajamas. I've just had a chick McGee a news story. I think there'll be a disagreement on the staff about whether or not this is a good thing. You can see AMC theaters announced a new pricing scheme, I guess, that will charge customers more for good seats and movie theaters. Oh man. Seats in the middle of the auditorium will cost a dollar or two more while seats in the front row slightly cheaper. AMC said the pricing plan dubbed sight line has already been rolled out in some locations and we, it'll be in place in all its theaters during showings after 4 p.m. by the end of the year. Siege classified as standard sightline will be at the regular price. If you want to pay less for the value sightline seat, you have to be a member of the change chains, subscription service called AMC Stubbs. It won't affect me then. I am a Stubbs subscriber. Our movie is even crowded anymore. That's the thing. Continue to complicate yourselves out of business movie theaters. Are you kidding? This is so dumb. I mean, I haven't been to a movie that's had more than a half a house in 5 years. I finally just came to terms with the fact that I have to pick my seat before I go into the auditorium. And now they're throwing this into the mix. I mean, does anybody happy about this? All they have to do is charge an extra dollar for the popcorn, get it up to 20 bucks, and they'll make their money. Sure. This seems like, yeah, over complicated, dumb, that business is rapidly going away, except for certain blockbuster movies. Yeah, you'd think they would keep things simple. You know what? I can see instead of charging an upcharge for better seats. I can see charging less for front row. That kind of thing. They are. That's one of the ones that will be cheaper. But up charging for better. Movie theater etiquette is just out the window. It's a real shame. And you used to work at a movie theater. I loved it. Yeah, I loved working. You know what, movie theater etiquette is out the window. Yeah, I can't remember, I can't remember. I probably have been to two movies since the pandemic. Maybe. Maybe just a one time. If it's not, people talking to the talking's amazing, the lateness with which people arrive. I was in a movie the other day, and somebody was talking, another guy walked in late, and I was just on my cell phone full brightness, texting my Friends. This is so rude. Just to say, hey, I can not believe these people are being so rude right now. People take their shoes off. Yeah. I was sitting next to you. You were furious. People arriving late. Well, what's happening? Is they're playing 40 minutes of incredibly loud, I love the previews. I love the proof. The problem is, I blame it on you pick your seat before you arrive. And you have your ticket via the app and you buy your ticket on the app, you pick your seat on the app. So it encourages people to show up late because they don't have to get there for first come first serve seating. But then they get another. They can't find the seats 'cause it's dark. Exactly, so they turn their phone flashlights on. They disrupt everything. Yeah, your first comment was the best. They're making the experience no fun. Yeah, yeah. Josh, if you go in the theater and you go to your seat and someone is sitting in your seat, do you say something about it or just sit in another seat? I do, yeah, because it's caused problems before where I went ahead and just let it go and I sat in a different seat. And that ended up being somebody's seat. Oh, okay. And so then I caused the problem. So now I go, hey, look, and it's usually somebody who just didn't get it. Anyone ever asked to pick your seat? Yeah, and what would your answer be? Well, that year that I had pen worms, I said, please. Go for it. Tired of scratching. And you might ask, why are you a subscriber to the movies? Because are you a subscriber to the movie? Because it's 1999. After almost one movie, it pays for itself. One IMAX movie, which is like 16 bucks now. It essentially pays for it. So it is cheaper for me to because I'll go to two movies a month. Okay, well, on a different note, this new story comes to us out of New York State. Funeral home workers found a woman breathing three hours after she was pronounced dead. Oh my gosh. The 82 year old woman was declared dead at water's edge rehab and nursing facility in port Jefferson on Long Island. Can we address down by the water's edge? Can we address the name of this facility? Isn't that a kind of a negative what is it? Yeah. It. Is. God's waiting room. Do you have a floating bloated river corpse? Down here at what is it?

Funeral home finds woman breathing hours after declared dead

"A nursing home in Long Island, New York pronounces a woman dead, then she starts breathing at the funeral home and this has happened at other facilities. Officials say an 82 year old woman was pronounced dead at water's edge rehab and nursing center in port Jefferson, but found to be breathing three hours later at the funeral home where she'd been taken. She was sent to the hospital, authorities are investigating. This happened Saturday, days after the Glen oaks Alzheimer's care center in Iowa was fined $10,000 over a similar incident where a 66 year old woman was put in a body bag and taken to a crematory, but workers there found her breathing, she was returned to hospice care where she died January 5th. The story from Bloomberg's Charlie pellet. Murphy put out a statement saying quote, we must protect our residents from unfair and inordinate taxation from other states. The law spurred by remote work arrangements that have lasted years beyond the pandemic's worst days would mirror a New York policy that costs New Jersey billions of dollars in tax credits. A federal judge in Brooklyn has ruled that New Yorkers who have some dislike of Donald Trump can be considered for the jury in the trial of a long time friend of the former president. The story from Bloomberg's Charlie poet. Colony capital founder Tom Barrett, who served as Trump's inaugural committee chair and his assistant Matt Grimes had sought to exclude more than 30 prospective jurors from their trial later this month on charges that they acted as illegal foreign agents. Defense lawyers said those people showed a quote disqualifying level of bias in juror questionnaires. Bloomberg's Charlie poet. America's employers slowed their hiring in August in the face of rising interest rates, high inflation and sluggish consumer spending, all of which weakened the outlook for the economy. The government reported Friday that the economy added 315,000 jobs last month. That's down from 526,000 in July, and below the average gain of the previous three months. Michael gapen of Bank of America security is global research, says the numbers will ease fed policymaker worries. The size of the labor force for the first time has now risen above pre-pandemic levels. That has to give them at least a little comfort and suggest that maybe the labor market isn't quite as off balance as they thought Global news 24 hours a day on air and on Bloomberg quicktake powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in more than 120 countries. I'm Susanna Palmer. This is Bloomberg. This is Bloomberg businessweek. Inside from the reporters and editors who bring you America's most trusted business magazine. Plus, global business finance and tech news as it happens. Bloomberg businessweek with Carol massar and Bloomberg quick takes Tim steno on Bloomberg radio. Plenty ahead in our second hour of the weekend edition of Bloomberg businessweek, including the CFO of flex, it's a global manufacturing company working a defense health energy housing in more man. They have a cross section of the global economy. We're going to get his take on macro conditions. I love talking to this guy. Yeah, it's not just a cross section of the global economy. It's different types of industries, and then also just different regions of the world. Really incredible company to play and play into the supply chains, right? So so much. Yeah, really good conversation coming up. Another good conversation with historian Betsy Griffith, she discusses her new book, described by her former classmate Hillary Clinton as, quote, an essential history of the struggle by both black and white women to achieve their equal rights. First up this hour, as the world reopens an individual shift from buying stuff to doing things such as eating out or travel, that too can create another supply demand imbalance. For clarity on that, we checked in with Debbie Sue, the CEO of the online restaurant reservation company, open table, also a subsidiary of the publicly traded Booking Holdings. She's got great insight into what's going on in the restaurant industry because her company gathers lots of data on who's booking what and when. She spoke with me and Bloomberg senior markets reporter, Katie greifelt. The restaurant industry has definitely seen a pickup in demand and we're still seeing that kind of post pandemic pent up demand where a lot of us have been cooped up in our houses or our apartments. And there's this need to engage and meet with people and oftentimes over a meal. And so I think we're still seeing pent up demand and people going out so that demand is really helped study even in places in New York where Goldman has requested everyone come back into the office. And New York is one of those cities where versus city like San Francisco, for example, people are coming back. You're seeing those lunchtime shifts starting to fill up. And so the city is definitely feeling more alive and certainly it is very difficult to get a reservation on a Friday night. You're also seeing in New York tourist activity and travel activity really coming back in a way that we haven't seen in the last few years. So all really encouraging signs for Manhattan. I swear, I actually got an IB during this program asking me to grab lunch in the fall from a listener and a source. So I guess are you going to go? Yeah, I'm going to go. Of course I'm going to go. That's what you call a flex, you know? Making a reservation. I mean, I'm not making the reservation. Someone else can. But in any case, Debbie I am interested to situate this conversation in the broader economic landscape that we're living in because all we talk about all day. And of course, this is on Bloomberg. So of course we would be talking about it, but we talk about inflation. We talk about recession fears. And you are seeing this pent up demand like you say, but how resilient do you think that is in the face of some of those big issues that we talk about? As you mentioned, we're certainly in a challenging macro environment. And I think we're in unprecedented times here because we've not had a recession that's followed a two year central pandemic. And so we're seeing that demand continue to hold. And I think even once people stop revenge eating is what we like to call it here at OpenTable. With the shape of work and return

On the end of our you might even she gets around just fine right and my parents get around just fine too but i'm talking about. This woman was had a walker. He was saying like a beach walker. Sound like very old apart. Like hey there you go have some fun. Maybe you'll see a dolphin or to like you doing. Let's go to macy in new rochelle. What's going on macy are you. Can you hear me on my bluetooth. Yeah what's happening so I know boomer has an issue with people driving the wrong way in front of the building and everything else so where we live is a through street a lot of times so and during the pandemic our kids are outside riding the bike a lot and everything else and people would go so fast my husband had a megaphone and anytime someone went to fat he would just yell at them with a make a phone. Slow down to the point that we it did help our traffic a little bit so not as many people cross through because they do. There's a crazy man with a megaphone You so maybe need a megaphone. Sit out front aniello. Everybody you boomer. I'm telling you you are like a year away from that. yes i mean. An al's like two days away from that happening from his balcony and bradley beat screaming down to people that are putting the recycling in the wrong bain. Say when you're when you're biking on the road man it is it. is you know. Unfortunately the jets lost brag nap before the season avid bicyclist. And i me too and being out on the road this past weekend out in the hamptons it was. I'm sure your life in your own hands seriously. I know i hate to his now. We're going down to morbid thing. You don't trust anything i knew when you and bigs were out there stomach stomach. Chin-chin chris carlin. Yeah screaming at each other. I knew from that moment on like like things happen like that really stuck out to me and made me aware of just what goes on in front of this building. Sure at any point. You're like you're on surveillance camera always keeping tabs on what's going on and i do like the fact that now that we've cleaned up outside you got benches and trees. Oh no we've really cleaned it up at the parking's back. I totally love it. The thing i didn't like was the year and a half of no parking out front but now it's they're out there right exactly. You got that big naked guy who was Sleeping on that bench there for a while which was great But now that we have that you want to keep it nice and clean one. Wake everybody play by the rules and you sit out front in a folding chair with a megaphone screaming at people i think the exact perfect thing we can do it for digital and for dench the that would be great digital. I think we need that needs to happen. Craig's still got his megaphone. Back there right. i'll let you borrow it broken. It's broken broken for like eight years. I can't get a megaphone from the fire houses or one of the police precincts around here. Awesome megaphone expensive though those megaphones. We'll give maddow. Twelve new jersey story about This firehouse in new york city. That has a piglet running around. I did see that as well as new york post. I think i saw that in as well. A little piglet a little different than a down making pencil very clean. Very smart peixe. Yes you've never heard of this. I mean i didn't think they were. Clean pigs yes. There's someone in bradley beach. Who walks a pig like a dog in town. Exactly those little potbelly. Pigs pot belly pig. Yeah they're great pets. Yeah i did. I if i was going to get a nine any of those. Have like an expose vaginal like your dog has not exposed. It's an inside out for china. All dogs yes stuff is exposed. They don't wear pants right exactly. It's not exposed inside out in my my i've got a dog an inverted volva so it's essential again inside. Abby beanie is always in a sweater so you with the second what about like the parts like the beanies underwear on and stuff. She's wearing a sweater. I don't see anything. Well she's dropping a duke or something different story but yeah well. Yeah anyway. If i was going to get a nontraditional pet i get the cappy barra. I would not get happy barrois. Because they are the coolest looking things in the world they really are the world's largest rodent and they swim and it's like having like a humongous rat in your house that's like jumps on your lap. Looks great like bigger than a labrador. Yeah humongous it. Take a look. I'm serious we've talked about. I know that would be the thing. Nine it would be mention that just because somebody shows up in a house in the capi barrichello's over the door like i don't mind him. Chester something chester cappy barra. "But Wilson told the NFL network he's hoping to snap that streak. You know what? I'm given everything I have. You know, I worked as hard as I could for this moment, and there's not another team I want to play for besides Jet, so I'm gonna give it everything I have. And we're gonna be a special team, baby. We're going for the Super Bowl. The Jets. Also traded up to the number 14 pick from the Minnesota Vikings to select USC offensive lineman Elijah Vera Tucker. The Giants took Florida wide receiver Could Darius Tony with the 20th overall pick? And the draft continues with a 2nd and 3rd rounds tonight. And Brian, as you know, April is poetry Month. We have been collecting poems from listeners on the theme of emergence all month, and we have had so many great ones. I wish we had the time to get them all on the air, But I thought right now as we're closing out the month You and I could read a few Are you up for that? I have come prepared. We plan this will let people in on that little behind the scenes tidbit. I am so psyched, David. Okay, Well, the first one I'm reading this is ah, haiku. Called spring gardening amnesia. This was sent in by listener, Kiki Short. Of Port Chester. Fresh shoots poking up. What the heck did I plant there? Must wait to find out. And that's it, And that's it because the haiku goes by so fast, well, the one that I picked is just a little bit longer, but it's also about something that we might say. Looming is the wrong word because this is not in the area of flora, but it's called in Queary of cicadas and for people who don't know cicadas. Are these insects that only come out every 17 years? In the spring, and this is the year and I haven't heard any yet, but we are likely to hear a relatively big noise that cicadas make in the coming weeks in our area. So MJ crop of port of Port Jefferson Jefferson on Long Island wrote in Queary. Of cicadas, and it goes to sleep. Perhaps at ease. You are there. Just below waiting in place for years. Not that we ever know. And in sudden bloom, as if from dormant seeds. Your company attends us to what end for your needs. Not floral are your forms of sprouting life in night presenting in clamor, a turning crop of flight cicadas. Why, just now? The point of your choosing, is it perhaps some teas? For your amusing Huh? You're not wonderful. And you know in the topic that the station chose for listener contributions and national poetry month emergence so many people. Shows emergence from the pandemic right in one way or another. And so I loved that MJ crop protection chose three emergency service cicadas after 17. It's perfect when you only get to emerge once every 17 years. You deserve a poem and let's at least let's be honest. Okay, I have to read this. This last one here. This is called Go Play by Melissa Yellow. Don't give me your poems of nature and morning and birds don't sing the words of windswept loves like prairies on fire. I know only the language of school lunch boxes and diapers changed and fears heard. The only poetry I know of birds is one Ms Frizzle told me about how they are dinosaurs. Ancient. Yes, but also A sign of a shore spring. Which means that these kids can finally play outside after dinner flowers. Be damned. Self explanatory, and we can all relate. Great. I just want to say a big thank you to every single one of you who sent in a poem. I know we didn't get a lot of them on the air, but we we read each and every one. It was so much fun to have these this month. And you can see a sampling of them at gothamist dot com. Backslash poetry 62 degrees now mostly sunny skies today a high of 66. This is W N. Y. C. Right and later on W N. Y C. You have about 15 minutes before asked the mayor, and for this little period of time, we're gonna open up the phones for people who have quit your jobs during the pandemic. Why, in the face of so much uncertainty Did you decide to leave? And what are you doing now? 646435 70 to 80, according to a recent Microsoft survey, more than 40% of workers globally. Have been considering leaving their jobs in the past year. Are you one of the people who actually made that leap? 646435 70 to 80? Did you catch the recent article in The New York Times? That was one of the inspirations for us doing this? On the so called YOLO economy. For the those of you who don't know YOLO. Why O L O stands for you only live once and reports are that millennials, especially after a year of slack and June burnout. Are leaving their jobs in surprisingly large numbers, in some cases for completely different careers. Some have turned their side hustles into full time gigs or heading back to school. And wondering if this is a millennial thing. Did any of you and other age groups also do that, Um, who decided life is too short to be stuck at your current job. And how are you Navigating this? What did you tell your parents 646435 70 to 86 46435 70 to 80 for anybody who quit your job during the pandemic. While other people were losing theirs in voluntarily, um another angle. If you're a person of color did you quit your job? Because your employer didn't commit to racial justice. In a way you felt Was appropriate or sufficient. Maybe you left to become involved in a career. That's more aligned with diversity and inclusion. Or maybe you're striking out on your own to build a career that centers racial justice 646435 70 to 80. And funny enough. Recent reporting shows that many sectors of struggling to find employees right now not just tech companies, where there's always a shortage of that kind of training. Restaurants and trucking companies as well. We've taken cause on this from some restaurant owners. So if you're an industry that tiring and You're not going back a zoo worker to that industry? What are you doing instead? Did you put your stimulus checks and extended unemployment? Toward your own change of life. 646435 70 to 80 will take your calls after this. In the last decade. So many of our.

Yeah. Standing news day today. Not a single word about Portland. First of all, but secondly, you know, very boldly proclaiming that Joe Biden declared this a mad covert a national emergency. I'm really glad he finally came out of the basement, you know, and and figured out that we got a national emergency here. Yeah. All right. Thanks for calling. I know that news. The Hindus they used to be like the fourth biggest newspaper in America used to be a very respected newspaper. Now it is a far left wing. Very biased. But if you need half the news, there's half the news every day. Let's go toe Mara, who's calling from Arizona? Mara? How you doing, Mom? No, I'm calling you from Peru. UMP, Arizona. Don't put me in Arizona. Mars. What's What's hap corrupting about it, darling. How are you for Rump? What a name. All right. You know what it means? What is in the well, Something like that's an industry. Shoni Indian. What? Mark? You know, I thought that was your oldest. Listen in two weeks, I'm gonna be 91. But I would do be with several years older than me. I think we can attribute. Oh, he was a dog. I think we could attribute our longevity to having been fancy yours all these years. I'm listening to you. Since 1985 loved the music, love the celebrity interviews. You make me laugh. We probably couldn't attribute our mental acuity to have listen to you. Mark. What a nice thing to say. Yeah, He was lucky because she listened to you. I hope I can listen to you until I'm called to whatever destination I'm destined to go to, darling. I also want to wish Vincent my South Brooklyn. I've Carroll Gardens. I wish him luck and God bless him. If he needs surgery, and this is a strong guy he'll pull through. But Mara. Thanks for calling you We get. Bea's family has sent us some pictures of me. You're gonna put him up on the Web page will do it probably next week, but unfortunately lost her about two weeks ago. Let's go toe. Donna Long Branch, a dollar Mark. How are you? Good. Oh, I wanted to point out that you know how our troops worker ever National Guard troops were brought down to DC 25,000 of them with no provisions for where they should stay, And in the meantime, now last night they were made to stay. They were made to sleep in a parking garage on the floor. With all that fluorescent lighting. It's really it's terrible how we're treating our national guard. It is. That's a good point. Thanks for calling Joe Bartlett. You've got to admit most of the mainstream media. It's so Biased. Remember, they showed the cap the guardsmen sleeping on the floor of the capital. And the headline was, If a Ziff you had done something wrong. Look at this. This who thought we never They tears in their eyes about the Why would they sleep on the floor? It's because you said 25,000. Guardsmen to Washington for no reason. There was no threat of any kind. And you didn't get him Hotel. What was the reason I would let him stay in hotels or getting E? I just didn't want to pay for it. Right? Yeah. You still wanna pay for it? You mention the Cuomo and company treating National Guardsmen like that. We're sending you to Washington, or are we staying sleep on the floor? It's basically what they said. Basically, it's like one of, but they made it some sort of trump scandal as if he caused this. Oh yeah, it's all his was. It's always like it's his fault. It's these Cuomo types. Who sent that there was no reason there was no threat to the inauguration. As we saw it. We keep talking about killing on is good. Queuing down is like 12 people in the chat room online. Nobody no normal person has ever seen. Q And on or what was the other one? The cove you all to write all toward? Nobody even knows what these air chat rooms on the Internet mean nothing to anybody. And Just to make it look like the trump. People are so dangerous there like an armed militia that could take over the meantime, the left wing anarchist or burning down 30 cities in America, But you're supposed to worry about this supposed trump militia groups that there was one guy with a sign 25,000 troops were sent to watch this one guy with the sign. And then they forced him to sleep on the floor. Remember when New York City was being attacked by left wing anarchists who were burning down? Buildings were robbing, looting, smashing? Remember how violent the riots were. Cuomo didn't send a single National Guardsmen, not one. 25% the Washington for no reason. The one more call. Let's go to Stephen Westchester. Hey, Steve. We lost him. Okay, Well, actually, we don't have much time because we gotta get to. We're gonna talk to Roger Friedman. In a moment. The great calmness about what? They're talking about. New York. What? How's it going to come back? How's Broadway going to come back? What about our restaurants? What about Saving the city. We'll get to that in a moment on 7 10 w. O R Let's get the latest news.
